Transcript
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: it is Friday morning, March 6th, it is time for an episode of Broncos for breakfast.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Nicholas Kendall, I'm joined with Eric Trickle, and we're late because I did the dad-brain thing of cleaning out the coffee pot, filling up all the water, it didn't start to go to the shower, come down, okay.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Just in time for the show.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yellow water, yellow hot water.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where we're at, and yeah, you might guys may notice if you're watching the show, I'm in a new room.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, we have the guest room all set up now.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully the Wi-Fi will work, had X-Venity come out on Wednesday and took about three hours to get our Wi-Fi, set up the way it needs to be, but I'm hardwired into the wall now.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm in a townhouse, it's a new enough build that there's actually Jackson,
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: almost all of them weren't active.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: And so we have the router now in the office and I'm hardwired in here.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: So the only issue is that I share a wall with the nursery.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: So if you hear, and I guess, kids are missing on nursery anymore, he's too, but that's if you hear any upsetness, it's not me.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: It could be some it.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he's joining me, but how are you doing, Eric?
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for waiting.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing good.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's been a...
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: bit of a hectic week on my end with some stuff going on, but, uh, you know, doing well for agencies really basically kind of kicking off.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's already been a few moves been a few moves this morning.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, already in, you know, the Broncos we started to get some clarity about what they could potentially be doing.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: and I'm ready to get into it.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm ready to take the next, you know, about week of, you know, the draft hat off and put on the free agent hat and get a slight break even though it's still be doing written content that's covering the draft and not for agency, but I'm excited to really focus on for agency for, you know, today's show and probably even devality drivers tonight when I jump on with Lance.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we have some Broncos news in the last 24, 48 hours that we'll get into here, and obviously, you know, it is free, and see we're going to talk a little bit more about free agency, but I mean, our heart of hearts Eric is the draft.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: So if you guys have draft content or thoughts that you want to get into, please let us know as we're getting the show started.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: We've got our friend Billy in the house as greetings gentleman.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: Good morning to you, Summit.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Summit.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: He told everybody what you did this morning.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: So sometimes I let him out in front to go pee before feeding him because then he'll run right back in and I don't put a leash on him for that and there was another dog coming around the corner and he took off to go say hello to friendly luckily the other person was a nice but I had to run outside of kind of sleeping right now and I'm sockless because my socks were soaked from chasing him down so shout out to the English
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Shepherd who was a good sport about it and some it's just too friendly.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's just he just does not know Manor's he just assumes everybody is a new best friend.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a good way to be Sometimes when we got Ernie Mades in the house says go Broncos country only hello Broncos for breakfast Hello to you Ernie appreciate you coming in always appreciate you clicking that thumbs up on the way in as well and I guess It's raining hard out there in the Quad Cities so
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, March, right?
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: So that's just kind of how it be around there.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: We got string guy coming in here too.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: One of our members over on YouTube.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: The number one way, there's many ways to listen to this after the fact Apple Spotify, whatever it is, but YouTube is in a number one way to listen to us.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you're on YouTube, like subscribe share, they'll also become a member.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Licks are in guys here.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: The good to see, he says good morning.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Should the Broncos go after Stefan digs in for agency?
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: I hate to be the high horse guy, Eric,
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: human garbage from all the allegations and everything surrounding him.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's in the tyreek bucket for me that like I just don't I don't want him associated with the team.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: I have I have to say it's kind of a binary yes no Well, he's also not like even that extremely talented anymore.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know like
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, S.H.I.T.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: like, he's the best player in football.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, I can't do it still.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: I would be against it.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: But like, he is a bad person.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's been allegations everywhere he's been.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: He was a charred right now with a stringulation of a personal chef.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: There's been multiple domestic violence incidences as well.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Again, high horse here and who am I because if you don't win games, you're out of a job and if you can help them win games, might keep some people employed, but for me, I just don't want them.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's it's a hard no, and for every reason that you don't, you just mentioned the offield stuff, the distractions that he brings, like, no, you don't have the talent that he once did in, you know, Andrew Grant former general manager for the Packers, he always says that, you know, the more talented you are, the more lee way you have, which we've seen time and time to get in the NFL is accurate and, you know,
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's just not good enough to deal with it.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think Denver is a team that really wants that kind of distraction in the locker.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, even if he was still really talented.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: So hard no for me.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: I still think that Denver needs to bring a receiver, but he is not it.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Even with the off-field stuff, I don't think he is the difference maker kind of receiver, and especially with the room that they have to really be the target for them.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm 100% with you on that.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I just can't get behind a man.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's a bad person and there's just enough incidents.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not even like, it's, oh, it's in his past.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's repeated incidences throughout the year.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he just had, well, he shouldn't even pull in on the freaking playoffs because of the strangulation thing, but it's the league, you know, so what are you going to do?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: He just does not have enough of a needle and move it like the skill set.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: I get like wanting that let that like slots intermediate route runner separator type like that's Denver needs could really use in a manual Sanders guy who's like a tough catch guy with some twitch still some verticality of their game I don't think he's exactly that anymore and I just I don't want the PLS aspect as well and again Nick on his high horse.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I just
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a cost to winning, and he, I wouldn't be willing to sell that morality.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I guess, to cheer for him.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Dave Glassman coming in with the hearts good to see a Dave.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: We got Shilo in here, over coming in from Minnesota.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: How hopefully the weather's doing well for you in Minnesota up there.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Shilo, hope you're doing well.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Billy says we need to focus on running back and tight end this off season.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: Why receive her after that in my opinion.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: Billy just says weapons, which weapons are up there, obviously.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Running, we've said it a thousand times.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: Anybody who kind of has looked at rosters as long as we have Carl and I have on it too, but Eric.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a part of that?
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: Is that part of the structure that?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: Carl's bigger is unbelievable.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: It makes me jealous.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: Unbelievable.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: running back, tight end, linebacker.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: You look at the roster, you look at it, you've looked at the teams as long as we have it's pretty obvious to go that way and also their positions historically, you can find service suppliers on the market.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you need an offensive tackle and you're picking pick 30, plug your nose this season, baby, you know, for the best because you're in some freaking trouble probably, but those positions in theory you should be able to find.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: serviceable options.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying you're going to get superstars, and everybody wants superstars at every spot, but Denver was a broken ankle away from playing in the Super Bowl this season, and we're probably going to improve those three spots.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: So, perspective, perspective, and my opinion, and I would love for them to add a number one wide receiver, is that Avenue going to be available to them?
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: I got to ask Eric on that topic, um, number a first
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, after DJ and more got a second round pick, which I thought he was probably worth.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what his contract looks like exactly, but I would have probably blocked at anything above a fourth for what he's been in his age.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: Given up a second, I was like, holy hell are you serious?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: What's going on?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: The draft must be horrible if teams are willing to give that up.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: But what do your thoughts?
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: That was a dumb desperation trade in
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: How Brennan being wasn't fired is beyond me.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: His body of work with what they've done in the draft and a lot of rage in signings has been awful.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: And they really threw Sean McDermott under the bus.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: He had plenty of issues himself as a coach, but being has not put together a talented roster around Josh Allen and this trade is just yet another one.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: The contract for DJ Moore was really bad and they made it worse by giving him, by turning some of the money in there that I think was incentive based or option based and just guaranteeing which is locking him in Buffalo through 2028.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think is what it is.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember exactly.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: I remember seeing that, but they've basically given him like guaranteed out a lot of what's left of his contract as well as giving up the second round or plus for him.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: I felt with the contract as it was, which you could have gotten out of after 2027, I think with how it was structured, in terms of release, trade is a little bit different.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking, you know, like, all right, maybe maybe a third round, but probably more of a fourth with another pick.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: A second since saying, all it does is cement, how we rosemen with with AJ Brown asking for a first and a second.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm all the way out on that as well.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: Have fun in New England, AJ unless they get Alec Pierce, which there's been a lot of reports coming out that that basically seems to be a done deal.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: That would be sick for them to just give in Drake May's deep ball ability and how good Pierce is on that vertical plane, but we'll see what happens there.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: I would love AJ Brown in Denver, and I've heard that, you know, Howard Rosen would like a player, a wide receiver back, so maybe you can give it the first plus.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody to do that.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still go ahead.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: There was a in-met part of that reporting with them wanting that.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: There was a specific player mentioned and it was Portland Sutton that Philadelphia was asking specifically for him.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: I want a one plus Sutton is too much for me.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think you two talented a two plus Sutton.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: We can talk two and a four.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because you have two fours.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think I would love to see what Sutton and AJ Brown look like together.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how the contracts work, but I wanted a two.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, man.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I know everybody wants the wide receiver.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's so hard to win the single elimination tournaments.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: The best way to win a super bowl is to repeatedly knock at the door.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I think, you know, steal from the pot where taking players that are going to be ideally contributors 20, 20, 20, 20, 29.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think maybe even though it was your chance at winning a super bowl, then go in for AJ Brown all in right now this year.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like it's, it's,
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Peter Rob and Peter to pay Paul.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: I know we're close, but like we were close without AJ Brown, right?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: And like the young white receivers you already have, Boenix is another year better.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: The one thing I'm worried about is, you know, the health of the offensive line, the age of the offensive line, and the defense regressing.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, again, we said that last year, so we'll see.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way they're gonna break the sack record again.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: Idiot, watch this.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, that's, we'll see.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be, it'll be fun to follow.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: No doubt Ramon says he's going to New England.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Gatorie Gameen's in the house, good to see, appreciate you.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: String guy says, I'd love to see Denver work out a deal with the jets, maybe steady in a late round pick.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Is he talking about maybe getting Gary Wilson here?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: The other news about the jet's era, because that the, it sounded like they were thinking about the transition tag for Bruce Hall, but, and I wish I could give credit to the report, but the Broncos sniffing around so much made them go from the transition tag to the franchise tag, because they were worried the Broncos would structure a deal that would
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: In hospital, I guess, unpalatable for the jets to bring him back.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: So Denver is obviously looking to pay big at running back in that Kenneth Walker conversation, just keeps coming up for Denver.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it was, it's one of those things where Denver, you know, they, they were sniff it around.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: Brace all, as you said, I wish I could remember the reporter as well.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen one of the NFL network guys also quote tweet it and added a little bit more context to it, saying that Denver's, and it was basically saying, never is doing a lot of work on the running back market and this includes in the trade market and then not long after that, it came out, you know, David Montgomery being traded to the Texans
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: Denver be in the other team involved that had a fifth round pick on the table for him.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: And almost getting that done, but the Texans up there offer and got that.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I still expect Denver to be very aggressive in the free agent market.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see where they go.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Kenneth Walker?
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Tyler Liger?
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: Is it at TN?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: Is it dowryl?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like they've been linked to a lot of these guys?
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: Not so much else here as the other ones, which is kind of bothersome for me, because I think
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see, so it was, you know, it's one of those things where it, Denver can eyeball what they want to do, but they have to get help from other teams.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: In this case, you know, they would, would have to do the jets to either give them that transition tag or not tag him at all.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: And they got to be able to give a contract and offer enough that's and are as enticing enough for the players to maybe turn down.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, could be even less from other teams or just decide that they want to go to Denver, which Making the AFC championship game is a big help as a piece as being enticing to players want to join in to try to help take them over that I don't forget them into the same book.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: I did know that the report card wasn't supposed to come out, but ESPN still got a chance on it Am I understanding that that breakdown that pathway there and Denver was high on pretty much everything besides the locker room, but that's going to be changed here pretty soon
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: I do know the family experience is still pretty low, but hopefully with a new stadium that can rise up as well.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, in the head coach got, what was it a BB plus, but Sean Payton's a hard ass, you know, and takes the right type of a maniacal buy-in to get there as well.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: So, and, you know, talk maybe out of both sides of my mouth, but I mean, with the results, they kind of speak for themselves somewhat.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And you can be hard to work for, but, you know,
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: You're not crossing the Tyre kill stuff on digs.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: Barrier, if you will, then you know, kind of live with it.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: At the end of rather have that, then the thing you'll hack it, talking about your quarterback's wife, and making Google eyes and jokes constantly.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: clown show.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is a professional football team.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: After all, we got Robert coming in here saying, I would be fine if we go a best player available, but we have to go all in on free agency.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: This team is ready to win it all.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: I want to build for the future, but you never know how long the window lasts.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a common misconception here, Eric, that going BPA is more about the
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, most teams, but Denver is potentially one injury away from being number one seed in the AFC to the fifth seed or the sixth seed are not making the playoffs, obviously.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: So kind of, I know everybody's frustrated with Baron right now, which I understand he didn't look like a first round pick to me when he was on the field.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: He looked like a day two kind of guy and uh,
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: All the same though.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you went 4 or no in games without Patrick Shutan because of some depth you had on that line and could be longer next time.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: It could be offensive tackle, could be edged rush.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's any spot.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, best payler available.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: I do think it's harder for this to sell any offensive line just because it's not a rotational position, similar with corner back.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: But...
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: I still think at the end of the day, you've got to trust your board and let it come to you.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: And it's always going to be stacked a bit weighted if you will by positional value needs where you're already financed in some rooms as well, both from draft capital land for age and dollars or just contracts in general.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: But I just over a long enough sample size if you're not if you're forsaking better players to take a specific position, you're going to miss out on talent and be worse for it.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, there's been a lot of people that have looked into this about and it's always tough without knowing team's boards specifically because how they right players is very different.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: But teams that typically reach for need, they typically struggle more in the draft and we have.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: you know, plenty of evidence of that at least against the consensus board that's out there, which is a great tool on our end because, you know, the consensus board, it's a bunch of people's different sports, being combined together to get a rough idea.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: So it makes it tough, but you want to best place best player available at a position in need is kind of typically how they a lot of teams
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: And Dan for last year, they, I was one of the first years where they kind of really focused in on the just the best player available on their board, regardless of position.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, since both Peyton and Sean, our George Peyton and Sean Peyton have come to Denver, but this is a team where outside of quarterback everything makes sense.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: right for one reason or another every position makes sense.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: This is something that both of you and I have talked about and I mean when you talk about corner, which is the one that gets a lot of pushback, you have two players that are now set to be free agents.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's sure you can't extend them both and you know that's Jake Juan Macmillan and Riley Moss.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: You're not extending both of them.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Baron's going to be isn't placed to fill one of them and if you can't keep both of them, then who?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they have Chris haven't trained, but I think it made, I think his play made it very clear that he isn't.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's not starter quality at least in Denver in this scheme.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't have that physicality that the kind of ever looking for.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, you can look it up, grading there a little bit and, you know, safety, we lost Brian and Jones, PG a lot came in played well, but he's a free agent.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: So everything makes sense for it.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: So you've got to look at the fact that,
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: Everything's a need for them at this moment.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, some of our bigger needs right now, but look at what Denver's done, pretty standard throughout the last few years, they filled those major needs in for agency to where they don't have to be pigeonholed into one spot in the draft and really allows them to just kind of focus on that best player available kind of mindset.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: Now, and again,
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: best player available.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: Some people will push back against that because you never truly know what best player is.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about going into with your process and trusting your evaluators.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: And if your evaluators are wrong, that's a problem in itself, but our best player available isn't necessarily a team's best player available.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, and some will be off the boards, due to different character stuff, medical stuff, scheme fit, I mean, the Lord only knows.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see how it plays out.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: So we still got six weeks until the draft.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: Shiloh comes says the only rumor he's heard is Sam Laporta.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Laporta would be great for Denver.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, did he sign a contract?
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: Already, I can't even, there's a do for a contract.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_00]: He was in that Gibb's Jack Campbell draft.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm guessing he hasn't been signed a contract.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're exited in the Anthony Richardson says, Strowd, draft.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: So year four, coming up here, a second round pick.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the port of he is a little bit, he's not a y.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: So he's in to Evan and Grim snacks.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: But as far as I'm concerned, like Evan and Grim's just here.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Denver dealt with, you know, plenty of guys who are deadcap on the roster and he's a niche ornamental piece, that's fine.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he can get a little bit more out of him this season.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: But I remember when Kyle pitch was potentially on the market like, why would you sign Kyle pitch?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: And they might get a let Evan Ingraham stop me from doing anything from what we saw last season hell no got gotten pretty much nothing from him and he was a tell and we'll see very able to switch up some of the stuff but he was.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: I would imagine that Evan Ingraham on the field last season the Broncos EPA was less than about any other personal package on the field overall so we'll see or at least over expectation because past plays just inherently are hiring PA but.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, Laporta would be good, and I know there was that tight end graphic going around directly, you kind of people saw it, but I think Mrs. interpreted it.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Laporta was high because for the run usage success, not because he necessarily blocks well, it's because the infrastructure around him allows him to still run well with him on the field now.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: He is one of those rare movers at Titan.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_00]: I do think where he can separate underneath and beat zone, and as far as like at an F and a slot, like you kind of combine ingrum and Atkins and little Jordan Humphrey to a Laporta roll, because that's kind of where you overlap.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: Some of that sure, that's a big upgrade, no doubt.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see though, we'll see what he's available.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: He does not take away your need for a Y, but he does help diversify your past game.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: And he, I mean, it's tough because you have been in England and you have a lot of money committed to him already and a lot of money paid out for him and obviously you didn't meet up, he didn't meet expectations.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: But there is a conversation that can be had about Denver moving on from Evan Ingraham and Denver has been linked to multiple wide tight ends.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: or not white head, but the big slot tight ends the the same reported the the K dotton types.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: To where I think there's at least part of them ins internally that are having a conversation of.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we have an ingrown, but we're not going to keep that from upgrading in that role.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: And if we do, then we can look at a post-junice first cut of Evan Ingraham, save a little bit money this year, spread the debt, debt cap it over this year next, which they can do because he also has a void year in his contract for next year.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: So they can spread that out a little bit and make it a little bit easier to absorb.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then you have that conversation of is the play you're bringing to replace them are they worth however much that contract is set money are they that much better than Evan and with Sam Laporta on the rookie contracts still.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think, yeah, he brings a lot more to it, a lot more value, and then you have to look at a possible extension out of there.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I think he's a fine player.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's a fine enough blocker in this lot.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think he actually is an upgrade over as a blocker in this lot.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think this last should kind of prove that Ingram was essentially worthless as a blocker, and that's kind of proven by the fact that Denver did everything they could to make sure he wasn't out there on the field in any kind of blocking situation.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, they were, I can't remember exactly where they were, but in efficiency metrics, the personal, any personal grouping with Evan Ingraham were at the bottom.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like anything that involved him out there on the field, just because even though he is a, what was a threat in the receiving game, his hands were were suspect, and he, you know, even when he did catch a ball, there's a lot of double catches that,
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: hurt the overall efficiency of the offense with the, you know, limiting yards after the catch and plays like that.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I can only, I've thought my head, I can only think of one big play that he really had for Denver, or should not look at it.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: So it's got to be that, at least in that conversation of upgrading that spot, because I mean, all by here, getting somebody for that role was the talk of the town with Denver, and so it's still probably as they did find a Joker.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it was RJ Harvey, who I think has a pretty good future as we're receiving back just needs to keep work on his past protection.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of Joker, we got Keith in here, good to see a Denver Luke's on the house, great to see a Michael Roncchio, says good morning, Nick Erick, I'm Broncos for breakfast.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: Did say I'd Denver Luke, Jake's in here, hooray, at least made it for some of the show.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: We started late, so I'll hit this what it is.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: Any words on Jacob's being cut for Green Bay?
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: Haven't heard anything yet, but keeping an eye out for Jacob's, keeping an eye out for Connor, and yeah, the news for the Broncos, though, Eric, is the Broncos have one move in one announcement yesterday, as well, Alex Pelchetsky signs a two-year contract.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: He was set to be a restricted free agent,
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: circumvents the restricted free agent probably haven't put the second round ten drawn him for what is it 5.4 million something around that 5.6 okay um so they get around that and they give him a two-year deal so he offers you some versatility flexible depth on the line in case you have an injury uh right tackle left guard right guard um
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he did a job last season.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: I know that it's been much debated on Twitter, but it wasn't a abject disaster.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it wasn't Michael Schofield versus the Kaleel Mac Raiders in, as well as that 2015.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: But for a depth guy, you can play three spots.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: Fine.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's good.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I might what I be looking to you, you know, upgrade somebody or have an option that is beyond him.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: Do I think he's a star?
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: Bong term?
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: No, I do not.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: But like again, you're six seventh guy.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: if you need to have depth, so I'm fine with the deal.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: And in tandem with that people like, oh, what does this mean for Ben Powers?
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: On the heels of that deal, being announced, Ben Powers is gonna be back.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: No trade, no restructure, no contract extension, no pay cut, no release.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: Another year of Ben Powers, so we'll see what that means for him in the future.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: But obviously, pencil all men, as you are left guard starter, next season, because Palcho again came in, did a job.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: But as soon as powers was ready to go, they plugged them back and it was not a debate and from what I could see for a good reason.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not just pencil and bin powers as you're starting left guard.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: You can put it in Sharpie.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: That was part of the report.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: He is the starting left guard this season.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: And that's great.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why a lot of Broncos country want to move on with him.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: I understand that the cost is great.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: But Paul Chesky is not a viable option at this moment.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: He was actually one of the worst guards in the NFL last year who played over, I think it was like 300 snaps.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: He was in the bottom 10 and blown block percentage and in run stuff right allowed.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's awful when he came in and hit the field even before JK Dobbins injury, Denver's rushing yards
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: Not great, the pressure percentage went up when Pau Cheski was in there.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: Pau Cheski is a fine depth piece.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: He got a little bit of an overpay here because when you're looking at six offensive linemen,
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: You're typically looking at three and three and a half million on average prior basis.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting five and a half million with the total contract between two years, 11 million up to 11 million, nine and a half is the base number there.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: So you're looking at about one and a half million incentives and 5.6 million guarantees.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: So what the way they structured that contract is you're getting the second year and the second round tender this year and then we'll see about you know next year.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: His versatility brings a little bit more value to it.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: So you understand a little bit, but basically doubling the average per year basis for a six-toh offensive lineman isn't ideal.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: His play wasn't great.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was a lot better in 2024 when he had a fill on that right tackle than he did at left guard.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I big part of this is that his technique when he was playing left guard was very much a right-stand, right-sided stance base.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's very difficult to switch sides.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's why now a lot of NFL teams are looking for that guard tackle, versatility on the same side, instead of right left.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: And this is something that Sean Payton's done for years.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why Alex Pacheski was the very last resort to be their starting guard.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: They were to come out here and over him.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: They even were trying Calvin Throck Morton in practice both for him.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: But Calvin Throck Morton was significantly worse as well.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: They would, and also Eric just to add to that, they would have probably had Gargulio at left guard beforehand.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh, and I'm excited to see what he knew in camp.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, he's one that's a Dark Horse, but we'll see.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: And Denver was also calling about adding an offensive guard prior to the trade deadline.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: When Paul Chesky was actually playing little bit better for them and really fell off around, you know, the, that Raiders Chiefs game is what his play really took a tumble down.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I get it, there's a little bit more value there.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's well-liked, he's good for a locker room, they're keeping there, we're for now anyways.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Are there a keep in their top eight offensive linemen in place?
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what happens with Matt Pert, as he's working back from a ACL injury, I think is what it was against the Jets, might have been Achilles, I can't remember it exactly.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, yeah, Frank Crumb there, he's your seventh, you have your sixth in Balgesky.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: Keeping that depth, keep in the chemistry there, that adds some value,
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, the best news is that Denver is sticking with Ben Powers as they're starting left guard because I cannot tell you, I mean, he saw this season wasn't great.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: But he was probably the second best offensive I'm in overall for the Broncos' last season when he was healthy.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: And he brings such a value as a polar.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why when he got hurt, Denver really stopped using pulling guards as anywhere near as often.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: He is a probably a top five pulling guard in the NFL.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: And that is such a big loss if you were to part ways with them.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: I do wish they may have tried to rework that contract and I'm a little shocked that that came out that they're not even going to discuss it.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: But it is what it is.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's still a really good player for them even if he is a little bit more than what he's worth.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy he's back.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: I understand what would freed up like $11 million, um, which that makes it, you know, can, at least you could consider, like it could have been the thing where you move on from.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, nine.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: Only nine.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the one thing I considered Eric was potentially,
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: moving on from him and then signing a cheap older third fourth contract veteran to come in and then maybe drafting a guard tackle hybrid.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: So then you have a three four way competition there, but you're still probably a year off from having to go to some of those options.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: I've been a big fan of Joel Batino for a long time and he's going to be available.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's one of the ones that Broncos called on to and maybe he only comes in for, you know, six million, seven million.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what his market's going to be.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: But he's older.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: and that Cleveland team had been pretty bad.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: So you can compete with them and then first three rounds of the draft, you have guard tackle options as well.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: And again, Gargulio, who was really good in camp, reportedly and I thought in the, what was it two and a half, one and a half games and pre-season's like, oh, we might have something here.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see, overall with that, but happy to have powers back is he a superstar?
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, but he's like, you know, be level guard on the whole
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's okay for guard.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that's fine for me for what you're paying him as well.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: Frank comes in and says he wants to trade powers and stood him for Breeze Hall and fourth rounder of the Saints get Breeze in the six back playing a lot of fun.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: General manager here saving a lot of money.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: and you didn't do anything last year.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: You paid that money for someone, maybe draft you during price and receive or in the draft.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, that's a lot of moves in dead money.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think the contracts make that stuff a little hard and you don't see player for player trades all that often, but we'll see them.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: There is at least conversation out there that Jürts to them is being called upon.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily shopped, but called upon.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: Is that Wilson a free agent?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_00]: Eric, do you know, is that- I think that he found a two-year deal with it.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: Was it a two-year deal?
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because I'm like, oh, maybe he's ship-set him
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: fifth round pick and bring back Wilson and look to draft a guy, but you know, we'll see that the Broncos do with that room, stood him, find backup as a bad situation to come in and play and the weather was horrific too.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: Mike Thompson, good to see you, Mike, appreciate you coming in, saying hello.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: We also got Peter Milton coming in from Singapore, see you guys, do you see him as a backup tackle rather than a guard because of those stats?
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think Palchetsky, because he showed
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you have that option, but it's not a guarantee he's the first guy to come in at left guard.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably more likely right guard right tackle, but again, they do a lot of cross training and stuff in the offseason to figure that stuff out, but when you had the injuries that you had, it kind of got down to that point and again, he did a job.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: So ideally it's right tackle right guard.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe left guard, but you hope to have other options there.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, he's that right side back up and the break glass in case of emergency option at left guard.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I just shot exactly what's in is a free agent.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was only a one year deal.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's an interesting one.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Davis Webb maybe he was obviously always had the arm talent although he might get a chance to go somewhere because of the Samdarnold and Daniel Jones
- 34:03[SPEAKER_00]: The Falcons where Michael Panics is injured and they're going to need somebody probably early on.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see Angel coming in here and help appreciate you coming in saying hello.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: Hope you're having a good Friday.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: Peter says do you see a guard is potentially being highly drafted?
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm offensive line outside of center and a pure right guard is on the table for this team because but it doesn't have to be necessarily early.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think if it's an early it has to have the player has to have offensive tackle.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: potential as well.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're talking, you know, round three through five, somebody who is depth for a year and then competing with Pelchetsky in 2027.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely on the table.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, that is no shame.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was looking himself, but he's, he's out cold.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_00]: Good job, summit.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: Um, keep in it here for you, didn't see last, you know, 10 15 minutes here, Eric.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 34:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just I love my close and but what he's been put in out there has not been giving me the warm fuzzies Um, and that has been mainly around how Alex Singleton coming back for the contract that he has tossed out there.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: What has he said like about a 12, 10 million a year for him a three year 10 million.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: Hell, I mean, again, Singleton tough dude, um, and he is kind of the brains of the defense and I thought he, you know,
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's fine and because you are would be replacing him with somebody else maybe there's a drop in the defense like your your floor is lower because of some of the processing stuff on the job that the linebacker has to be is like the glue the command center, but I think you are leading some ceiling you're leaving the ceiling now from being raised by bringing in somebody like a
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: Um, he's played well.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: I love Kate Nellis mentioned it many times.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: He'd be interesting.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Quay Walker would be exceedingly interesting as well.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: And you just had Edmunds released from Chicago who's, you know, six, five tremendous length kind of changes what you have a
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: Have you what you can do defensively as well.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't love that.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, Oh, yeah, let's just bring the band back together.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: When you have a guy who's going to be what 33 years old 32 years old, I think they are and a fine player.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think we kind of harp on him too much, but like they're obviously is better talent available and the one that really kind of grinds my years Eric is Adam Troutman being back.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think close had an article about that, too, and it's like, Oh, my
- 36:35[SPEAKER_00]: cannot, if it's your fourth tight end, third tight end, maybe.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_00]: But that, you would need to like bring in two more entraments to go with, excuse me, addkins and ingram, or cut ingram, outright, and maybe that with that savings, just give it to trauma, because at least, you know, he can function in line, but if the roll at tight end the season is,
- 37:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be pissed.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, I'll be with you.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I remember like right after the season, I was talking about Alex singleton and him looking at a $8 million plus dollar contract and here we are looking at $10 million.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: And some of you all in chat didn't, didn't, came at me over that and well,
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: 10 million.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think part of the reason why Denver is looking at that is they're worried about the floor dropping out of them out from underneath them if they move on from singleton because of the communications is possible.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, that's possible.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's he's a really good communicator.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's really does a great job of making sure everybody's lined up and when you have a new voice coming in because it really, I mean,
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't seem like they trust Drake Greenlaw with it and evidence is by that as well.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: We get to December and Dragrine was still talking about how he's having issues picking up this defense, not the guy you want with the green dot in, I mean, yeah, it'll be your two, but with how long he's had he may not be do a great job at communicating it to others.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I could see that being a big reason for that of what will likely be a little bit of an overpay for Alex and Nathan, although this linebacker market has gotten same last year.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: I can see that being the case, I wish they would get a little bit more because there are some major limitations with him and coverage that Denver kind of had to deal with a down year for Brandon Jones as they used him to cover up for a lot of those issues and even today Baron when he was out there was helping cover for those issues at the linebacker position some of those bad plays Baron and Jones got a lot of sl... got hit hard for some of that was, you know, the play the linebackers Greenal in particular was part of it so.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm it's not ideal for me to bring single time back.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: I get it with the communication aspect of it, the leadership, the toughness, you know, all the stuff in the locker room that they they valued last year when they brought DJ Jones back.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I get it.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I wish you would go elsewhere.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: I wish they would go and try to get an upgrade.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: What has me concerned is that not only are they looking at bringing Alex single ten back.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: They are supposedly getting our supposedly be having talking with Justin's from not about bringing him back as well.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: which, hey, the linebacker unit did fine last year, but I would like to have bring in a new face to at least try to, you know, raise the ceiling a little bit instead of just running it back with the same thing.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: And that gets the tight end, running it back, after getting so close, isn't always ideal.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: Linebacker, it's a little bit easier to do than it is tight end and running back because of how bad those positions were.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, Denver's got to do something right now.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: They only have two tight ends in a contract and that's Caleb Loaner and Evan Ingraham.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: Nate Atkins I believe is a either an exclusive or a restricted free agent, Lucas Cole is a restricted or exclusive rights free agent, trouble is a free agent like they got to bring in somebody they got to upgrade the room and you know you've mentioned this before the easiest paths for Denver's offense to improve is by adding that big time running back and adding and or adding that big time tight end.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, got to figure it out.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about it being microverse macro needs of the team.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: Need to needle moving offensive weapon.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_00]: It would be nice to add another back seven true difference maker.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think the championship building blocks from Daniel Jeremiah says you need three back seven true plus difference makers.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm demo right now as two.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: So like if you have a chance to add a plus linebacker safety,
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: on her back.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: And then I think it's something you at least consider for this team.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: But right now, I mean, who would be in can to obviously have Fonga and Sir Tan, but I wouldn't say J Mac, Moss, either the linebackers or Brandon Jones are that guy.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that's another reason that you and I have been on it for a few months now, but like if you're sitting there at Pick 30,
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: Emmanuel McNeill Warren, our Dylan, Fineman, or CJ Allen there.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not as big on Anthony Hill or Gull Day at 30, but I mean, maybe they have a chance to hit and be that needle mover.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, or Jacob Rodriguez at 30.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: Eric, I think you'd have to.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: You'd see Eric's soul leave his body if Denver did that.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: But that would be interesting to follow.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: But just, yeah, big takeaways here.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm the one last one.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's been all this talk about getting the band back together.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: Denver helping these agents out or something, but also like the running back or income and full circle saying like, well, maybe Dobbins back wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, which if it was a good running back draft and you had a chance to get a guy like, and you had a few extra day two picks, I get into it, I don't understand like Dobbins because the ceiling is high, but man, I just round two looks like a frickin' barren wasteland to me at running back, so I just this off season, it's a harder strategy for me to get behind.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, one thing with it and, you know, all the Broncos media guys are kind of guilty of this is they, they tend to hide a little bit of the intentions in for agency with what they want to do.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, last year, I don't know who found a Drake or not, those were the guys being talked about at this point and it was other guys in part of that was Denver was.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they, the guys that they're targeting got, they got out bit before or they end up resigning resigning with their respective teams, but about this point last year, we got a lot of well.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe just run it back with what we had.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it is just PJ Locke and Brandon Jones at safety.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's Alex single-ton and Justin's or not and bringing back Cody Barton at Lion Backer.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: It was very similar a conversation and then I think the only one that wasn't the case with was tight-ed and it was Denver's going to go out there and get somebody.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: And as Susan soon as Evan Ingraham was cut that was the guy that's like all right he's the guy.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it's, you know, there's a lot that goes into it and, you know, teams, they don't like all of their information going out there, but one thing that's been made clear is when especially running back Denver, try and.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: They tried for Montgomery there.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: They said, no, they're in the waiting in the wings on Brace Hall.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: They've been linked to plenty of other running backs as well.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm still expecting.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: I would be more shocked if they don't go get one of the top five free agent running backs than if they, than if they do at this point and tie it in as a little bit.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: That ends a little bit tougher.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because, you know, the big name guys don't necessarily fit what they're looking for with that blocking ability that white head and ability unless they are, you know, ready to just call it pull the rug out from underneath ingram and go upgrade that specific role.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: So it's tough.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not overly worried with what's been reported though with them running it back in the band back together because every year of the last few years, it's been the same story.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even going back to like 24 off season, 23 off season, whenever they got powers in, uh, Michelinchi.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: All the talk was about like the third or fourths year level tackle guard guards and not guys who were at the top at least in for agency at that time.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not really concerned about it but we'll get more answers over the next few days especially Monday when you know the legal tampering period starts which is still such a stupid name for that.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_00]: Scott's been calling at the contact window.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's what the NFL wants you to call it but it's the legal tampering period.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_00]: This is what it is.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_00]: So as we get out of here, again, the running back is I just wish there are more running backs available in the draft.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not that class this year, which changes things.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think, well, man, it's snowing.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_00]: Holy cow, not cool.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's got distracted.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was not a little bit ago, but I think just given the bodies available at tight end in linebacker, running it back with treatment in Singleton would be.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: upsetting unless they were like really cheap deals and you're running it back for like the ROI is your pan, you know, 80% for.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: or just much better ROI on the contract.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_00]: I still think, and then it gives you ability to go do other things.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like let's say it's because you're able to bring back a single tint, I'll try my not just can't get behind you to frickin' why, it's my one armed man.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_00]: You have to have it.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know, so as we get out of your ear, have you heard anything as far as a free-edged service we talked about Kenneth Walker.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: ETN is interesting, I don't love it, but I mean, it's kind of just where you are at.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're both kind of on the Tyler Lager bandwagon
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: contract then kind of walker at the end especially because kind of walker's medicals.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's not been as available.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're hurting anything else out there, I mean into your defense of line kind of sneaky veteran for the Broncos perhaps veteran wide receiver or anything else.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: When it comes to the defensive line, they're basically getting ready to roll with who was a wreaket and save you on Jones and then maybe a draft pick there to try to upgrade kind of basically refill in that save you on Jones spot last year and upgrade over Jordan Jackson said George has taken it.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a cheap free veteran signing.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not expecting a big move there.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like Sebastian today.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: Is that somebody or is that he's I would absolutely love it.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to be a little bit more expensive than what they're looking for.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, probably because he is he's a really good run defender like he is among the best run defenders of that that, you know, doesn't offer up a whole lot of a passing down usage or ability.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so one of those limited guys, um, it sounds like that going back to running back real quick.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: Kenneth Walker, I know that he's the guy a lot of people want.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: I have a lot of concern with him as a receiver and blocking and the medicals and I think he's got to cost a lot more than his worth.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: It really sounds like, um,
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's a very Matthews or something like that.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember the guy's name, but he does NBC sports.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: He does a 35 takeaways out of the combine every single year, and it's always really accurate.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: Getting about 28 to 32 of everything that he talks about there in correct.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the big things he's talked about, or talked about in that article, was kind of the walker to the New York giant, basically would be in a done deal, along with John Franklin Myers to Tennessee.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, I think Denver's going to be a little bit more calculated.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's going to be a aggressive for a tight end and a running back.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you see where I think it's cooled a lot.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think we kind of got the insight into that at the combine presser where Peyton was very talking up the guys that they already have.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: And particularly his comment about mimms about sometimes the issue is it's hard to get some of these guys out there on the field.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Adding another receiver continues to make makes it even harder.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I'd be a little bit surprised at a wider receiver at this point.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: I still think they'll look and try, but I think that ship is sailed, but tied in running back that's why I'm expecting it.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that we'll get a re-signing of a player here probably within the next 24 hours, probably being announced, maybe 20, 436 hours.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: It seems to be pretty close to being done.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, it's going to be interesting, and of course,
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: One thing to remember, the free agent market, how it looks now, it's not how it will look come undate because the Friday Saturday Sunday, that's when a lot of teams resigned their own.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I think last year, there was a record of like almost 30 players who resigned with the original teams over the last 72 hours before the legal tampering period started.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I am.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: 1,000% with you on over it.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_00]: So just real quick, Eric, for we get out of here.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: Broncos next announcement will be blank.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I think we'll do.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: Alex singleton back.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_00]: Can we get him 8 million a year?
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're looking at it.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: If it's 8 million a year, it's going to be and it's going to be one of those up to contracts that basically comes up to you know nine to 10 million I think we're to probably looking at an actual nine to 10 million base number here on it and seeing a couple people talking about K dot and real quick.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: There was a, you know, basically the Mike clues of Tampa Bay beat writers, he came out and said that Tampa has been trying to get a deal done with him and that he's asking for over 15 million on average beer bases.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: I am all the way out on Knotten for that even if as a replacement for Evan and Graham.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's a solid player.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, it's then healthy out there and really
- 50:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think 12 million here, I'm interested, but 15 plus I, I mean, we'll just see, I guess at the end of the day, so thanks everybody, we're gonna get on out of here, we'll be back on Monday for some hopefully breaking Broncos news at that point and then for a week from now we'll have a lot and news to get into, but I make sure you guys have fallen at that mile high huddle, Eric's at Eric Trickle, I'm at Nikental Image Age.
