2:27
We start off with a major news story. Whered came down yesterday that
2:30
President Joe Biden would be withdrawing from the race for president. So what happens
2:35
next and where's Joe Manchin and all this. So we're going to talk to
2:38
the state Democratic Party chair and delicate Mike Pushkin moment charily pus. A little
2:43
bit later on, Matt Harrige, who is the state Republican Party chair,
2:46
is going to join us to weigh in on the subject. Barbersville Mayor Chris
2:50
Tatum not talking about politics. He's going to be on the show a little
2:53
bit later on as is Jay Silverman, Jay employed by the Dirty Birds,
2:57
but after hours coming quite the internet sensation with his have fun West Virginia endeavors
3:02
and we're going to talk some hot dogs. So we got a lot to
3:05
get to. Let me go right to State Democratic Party and the State Democratic
3:08
Party Chair and Dell get Mike push Kid, Michael, good morning, welcome
3:12
to the show. Good morning. Well, that sounds like a good show
3:14
that Tony the Taylor's putting on this seeking Gary Hoey. That's that's quite a
3:16
big act. I've been a big fan of Gary Hoey for a long long
3:21
time. He's gonna be fun. It's gonna be a great show, all
3:23
right. So yesterday's announcement President Joe Biden withdrawing from the race couldn't have come
3:29
as a big surprise to a lot of people. The pressure had been mounting
3:32
for some time. We talked a little bit about it when you were on
3:35
the show last week. Overall your thoughts, well, as I said before,
3:38
you know, first of all, it was not a definitely it was
3:42
a sad day, you know for the President of the United States, a
3:46
president who's going to go down, in my opinion, in the opinion of
3:50
many as one of the most monumental, one of the most consequential presidents of
3:54
our time for what he has gotten done. It was a sad day to
3:58
hear him announce that he was and he go on with this campaign after this
4:01
is the president that immediately got in there and helped us get out of the
4:06
pandemic by passing the American Rescue Plan. That was a bill that sent the
4:11
money straight down to the cities and to the counties, and it bypassed state
4:15
governments and governors who might want to hold up the money and have a baby
4:18
dog sweep takes hypothetic not to mention any names or anything like that. Or
4:24
you know the Infrastructure Bill, which became the Infrastructure Act because it got it
4:28
passed, something that Donald Trump could never do. He got an infrastructure bill
4:30
passed, or the Inflation Reduction Act, which has led to some man of
4:35
the announcements and all the good news that we've had here in West Virginia,
4:39
whether it's Form Energy or New Corps or Green Moat, all the announcements we've
4:43
had a lot of that was due in large part to the good work of
4:46
President Biden. So for a president like that to come out and say that
4:50
he's he doesn't feel like he's the best one passed the torch. I think
4:57
that it was his decision, and I've said all along and I support his
5:00
I support his decision. I think ultimately it is his decision. I think
5:04
what we need to talk about too, is what it took to get to
5:08
that decision to put the country first. I believe he's doing so because he
5:12
believes it's what's in best interest of the country, is to pass the torch
5:15
on to his vice president, likely nominee who will defeat Donald Trump. Is
5:21
that who you are behind this comment? I'm going to presume yes. When
5:26
we voted for President Biden, and the majority of Americans did, he won
5:30
a free and fair election. In twenty twenty, we also voted for a
5:34
vice president, vice President Kamala Harris, and one of the roles of the
5:39
vice president is to fill the role of the president, to be as pre
5:44
president if God forbid, something should happen to the president. So, to
5:46
me, without hesitation, yeah, I support the nomination. What would you
5:51
say to those Mike who say that he if he isn't going to fulfill his
5:58
duties, he's not going to run for president, as we thought he was
6:01
going to be dropped out. What would you say to those that say that
6:03
maybe he also should not continue as president now, because I think if you
6:08
look at the job he is doing, that he is able, he's able
6:11
to do the job of president. He is doing. He is doing the
6:14
job every day, and I think he's doing a good job. I mean,
6:17
when he gave that foreign policy press conference that people don't talk about that
6:21
when he spoke at NATO, he went on for an hour giving in detailed
6:26
answers on foreign policy, and you would never be able to see somebody like
6:30
former President Trump do that. He doesn't think that long and hard about form.
6:34
The only thing he said is going to hand Ukraine back over to over
6:38
to Russia within the first week. And that's dangerous and that's what's at stake
6:42
here, and I think that's why he saw President Biden do something that I
6:46
feel is so selfless, to put the country first, and something it's rarely
6:49
seen, if ever seen, in politics. Somebody put personal ambition aside for
6:58
the sake of the country and for the sake what he fels is best for
7:00
the country. You don't see that too often. George Washington did that.
7:03
You know, we could have very well gone back to a monarchy after George
7:08
Washington and his patriots won the Revolutionary War, and he chose no, he's
7:13
a president. He's going to step aside, and he gave up power to
7:16
make way for John Adams. And I see that too often for somebody to
7:20
give up. You know, you don't see it on the other side,
7:23
when you had former President Trump who lost an election and wouldn't leave the White
7:27
House, calling his supporters to have an insurrection at the Capitol to try to
7:31
stop the peaceful transfer of power. That's what you saw. On the other
7:35
side. You saw the exact opposite of that in the character of President Joe
7:39
Biden yesterday when he put the good of the country first in stepped aside.
7:43
You talked, I know you talked to Democrats because you were at the state
7:46
Party chair, Mike, and you talk to Democrats around the country. Are
7:47
you getting a feeling that everybody's on board of Kamala Harris as far as the
7:50
Democrats GOP. We've not heard of anybody else that's that's mounting any opposition.
7:57
I think because she is she was the elect vice president and that's the role
8:01
of the vice president to step in if God forbid something should happen to the
8:05
press. Let me ask about Joe Manchin. Now. Yesterday there were rumblings
8:07
coming out that Joe Mansion could possibly become a Democrat again and would enter the
8:13
ring for president that was being baned about yesterday. Two hours ago. He
8:18
goes on CBS this morning says he's not going to run, but he's not
8:22
totally on board with Kamala Harris either. He thinks that there needs to be
8:26
a voice for more moderate people in America. So he's out now. But
8:30
now he's on with Hoppy. He's the first guest, and you know how
8:31
Joe is. He's on with Hoppy at ten o six. He may change
8:35
his mind between now and ten o six. Utmost respect for our senior senator,
8:39
Senator Mansion, and I consider him a friend and I definitely believe he
8:43
has a voice that needs to be heard in all of this. Do you
8:46
think the party needs? And what he said not too long ago, he
8:50
expressed some of the same thing that I do, that he feels that there
8:54
is an existential threat in re electing somebody like Donald Trump to the presidency.
8:58
And I feel he believes that, and I think when it comes down to
9:01
it, he's going to do what he can to help what I would call
9:05
it the Democracy ticket, but a island showing five any life broight to apart

9:18
Do you think the Democratic Party at a national level needs more moderate moderation so
9:22
to speak? Mike, I think we're going to be the party like we
9:24
have always been the party for everybody else, and we should be the same
9:28
party. And I think if you watched did you watch the Republican National with
9:33
professional wrestlers and Kid Rock and all that, and then the president we kept
9:37
hearing is going to be a softer and generler tone with the with the former
9:41
president, but uh and Trump. He stayed on script for a little while,
9:46
and then he became very undisciplined. He went off script and it started
9:50
hurling insults at I think he's still talking. I mean that speech went on
9:56
forever. I don't know. I would like to talk to some of our
9:58
you know, the Republican delegation from West Virginia. See if they were actually
10:01
able to sit through that entire, insane rambling list of grievances. It seemed
10:09
more like, you know what, mister Costanza at Festivus Living giving his list
10:15
of grievances, Pushkin off the top rope with the as Seinfeld reference, using
10:20
what's going to happen at the convention? Mike, in your opinion, what's
10:22
going to happen to Democrats? We're going to nominate the next president of the
10:26
United States. We have conventions, are nominating conventions. Now, you know,
10:30
in modern history, that's not you know, that's not how it's not
10:35
how it's been Usually we go in knowing for sure who the nominee is going
10:37
to be. And we haven't seen anything like this really ever, because even
10:41
when when LBJ decided not run, it was still early in the primary process.
10:46
We've not seen anything like this. But we're going to go in and
10:50
we are going to carry out the democratic process of nominating the next president of
10:54
the United States, and Democrats are going to come out of that convention stronger
10:58
and more united than ever because we know what is at stake. And I
11:03
saw several statements that came out from you. When I say you, I
11:07
mean the State Democratic Party yesterday, and you got more statements coming up.
11:13
You've always got statements. Man, You'll think what you know. Once I
11:16
leave here, I'm going to make some phone calls to our delegates to Chicago
11:20
and have discussions. We're Democrats with a small D and ultimately it's up to
11:24
the you know, our delegates who are elected at our convention. By the
11:28
way, the West Virginia Republicans didn't have a state convention. They selected their
11:31
delegates to Milwaukee at an executive committee meeting. We actually had county conventions where
11:37
we elected delegates to the state convention, and at the state convention we elected
11:43
our delegates to the national convention. So ultimately it's up to those delegates and
11:46
not to me. It's not up to me. I'm an automatic delegate,
11:50
which means I don't get a vote on the first ballot. But I'm going
11:52
to call our delegates and have a discussion and see where everybody is and then
11:56
we will be uh yeah that. So look for more statements, date more
12:01
statements. State Democratic Party Chair and Delegate Mike Pushkin. I appreciate you being
12:05
here man, thanks a lot, Thanks so much for having me on.

15:46
to him right now. State Republican Party Chair Matt Harriage. Good morning,
15:48
sir, Good morning Dave. How are you doing. I'm doing fine,
15:52
Thank you. Welcome to the show, and thanks thanks for being here on
15:54
what's been an eventful forty eight hours twenty four hours or so. Man,
16:00
Oh my goodness. Yeah, I've just got back this weekend after actually two
16:03
weeks. We were in Milwaukee with the RNC the week prior prepping for convention,
16:08
and then of course took a delegation last week to convention and and throw
16:14
in all all the news that's happened over the past seven or eight days and
16:17
a national international flight issues, I mean, wow, I mean what we
16:22
have experienced is truly history that this last week. Indeed, your take overall,
16:30
sir, on the Joe Biden announcement from yesterday, Well, you know,
16:33
I think we all knew this was coming, right. We've all watched
16:38
anyone I think with common sense has watched the decline, the caulgnant of decline
16:42
of Joe Biden over the past year years, actually, you know, and
16:47
it's it's been hard to watch. I mean, even someone who doesn't agree
16:49
with the policies of Joe Biden or the Democrat Party watching him be pushed out
16:56
there and embarrassed. It's it was sad. And we've all had probably family
17:02
members or or friends or relatives that have gone through this process, and it's
17:07
a very difficult thing. And you know, watching him go through it has
17:10
been it has been has been hard. And it's not just that, but
17:14
it's, uh, it's scary. You know that this is the demand that's
17:18
in charge of the most powerful country in the world. So we knew this
17:21
was coming. Uh, it was a question of when. But it now
17:25
has manifested and and I did get a chance just to listen to the beginning
17:30
of your conversation there with mister Pushkin. But but I'll tell you, I
17:33
don't think the Democrat Party is is necessarily rallying around Kamala Harris at this point.
17:37
I mean, well, you've got Shumor, you've got Jeffery's Pelosi,
17:41
the bie or the Obamas, all of them not not endorsing her. Yet
17:48
why do you think that Joe Biden anounced but took so long? In your
17:51
opinion? You know, I go back to kind of my framework of how
17:56
the Democrat Party works. They're they're always like, hey, don't look at
18:00
what's right in front of your face, look over here, and they tend
18:03
to be very I think myopic, are shortsighted in their strategy, They're faced
18:08
with a situation, and so they say, Okay, how do we divert
18:12
from that? How do we gaslight to something else? And I think they
18:15
just kept thinking, if we could just get him through the election, he's
18:21
our best chance. But when the reality face them here that he is not
18:26
going to beat Donald Trump, they've decided, Okay, it's time to throw
18:33
him overboard and go forward with somebody else. Talking to Matt Herds again,
18:37
the State Republican Party chair of a Dave Allen show in five that You Live
18:40
is brought to you part by Morgan to Moregon, America's largest jury law firm.
18:44
Does the strategy of the National Republicans change if now the opponent is going
18:48
to be Vice President Harriser? You know, I truly believe it doesn't.
18:53
We came out of this convention so strong, so unified, energized, and
19:02
Donald Trump has so much inertia right now. We're not going to let the
19:07
get our foot off the gas pedal in any way. But I really believe
19:11
it does not matter this election who they put up. We feel very secure
19:18
and strong. Doesn't mean again that we're not going to push very hard to
19:22
make our case to the American people. But honestly, I do not think
19:26
it matters who they put up. They do not have the caliber of person
19:32
or even a bench that can compete with the Republican Party. Right now,
19:36
I will they're in dis arreny. I will say this already interruight, but
19:38
I will say this. I think Copy you know, had done a commentary
19:41
on this about a week or so ago, and I know we talked about
19:44
it on his show. Regardless of what you think, and if you just
19:47
step back and look at it from an objective point of view, when you
19:51
look back at it, I think that the Republicans have had a good couple
19:55
of weeks. Now. I understand you can't possibly say that. You know,
19:57
you're the guy at the top, being the victim of an assassination attempt.
20:02
You probably obviously can't say that that's a good thing. But it did
20:06
serve to rally the troops you had. Overall, I think a lot of
20:11
good things that came out of the rn C. I'm speaking objectively now,
20:15
it's been a good couple of weeks. I know that sounds weird to say
20:18
that, but you understand where I'm going with that, right absolutely, Dave,
20:22
Yeah, you're exactly right. I mean, you watched even how this
20:26
tragic event of this assassination attempt. You look at even how the Democrat Democratic
20:33
Party responded to that. They almost seem jealous, which is sad to say.
20:37
It's like, oh wait, that's going to help him in some way,
20:41
right. It's just amazing to me though. The past couple of weeks
20:47
have brought billionaires over to the party, which is kind of cool. Lon
20:52
Musk came out, so he's going to give forty five billion a month.
20:55
Actman has come out. We are seeing all people from all walks of life
20:59
who maybe we're on the fence, saying Okay, this is enough, We're
21:03
going to vote for Donald Trump and the Republican Party. And that's really encouraging.
21:08
Talk about Joe Manchin, you know, he started putting well, somebody
21:12
started putting up feelers, and you know how Joe is, and I've said
21:15
this to the Senator on the show in the past, we've kind of joked
21:18
about it. He loves the spotlight. He's not going to back away from
21:22
that. And yesterday started, you know, after the Biden announcement, there
21:25
were rumblings that maybe he was considering getting into the race himself, maybe switching
21:30
back to Democrat. But he went on the CBS Morning Show this morning and
21:33
said he is not running for president now. As I said earlier, Matt,
21:37
he's on with Hoppy at ten oh six. He may change between now
21:41
and then. I, like everybody else in West Virginia, will be listening
21:44
to the Joe Manchon interview at ten oh six this morning. Your comments on
21:47
Senator Mansion and what he's going to do if anything, Yeah, well,
21:49
you know, I don't believe he will. He will put his name in
21:52
the hat. I mean, certainly it would take a big lift to now
21:56
switch parties again. I would assume back to the Democrat Party. I think,
22:00
you know, we've been dealing with these rumors around Senator Mansion over the
22:03
past few months, not only nationally but certainly here even in the state.
22:08
But I do not see that happening. I think that he's going to continue
22:15
down the route he's chosen. But no, I will be very interested to
22:21
hear, as you what he does have to say. But it just seems
22:23
like we've had a lot of rumor around him and none of it has actually
22:29
come to fruition. So I'm expecting more of the same. Stay Republican Party

23:22
the narrative. Do they offer a class to perfect this? It's a texture
23:26
texter says, Republicans can't help but to be weird. Little racist Harris could
23:32
say nothing, ever, and the GOP would step on every rake just because
23:36
she's black and his female. They're going to skip right to the births of
23:38

23:48
after weeks of bullying Biden for his age, now he's an innocent victim that
23:52
the cruel Democrats pushed a side question mark. Republicans need to be more consistent
23:56

24:02
VP slot. Well, I mean, if it's going to be Kamala Harris
24:06
at the top of the ticket, she's got to have a VP. And
24:10
I was talking to somebody this morning who is not in the media but follows
24:14
media media things closely, a good friend of mine, and he was saying
24:18
that this could be a very very smart move on behalf of the Democrats,
24:25
because if Kamala Harris loses, and right now, if I'm handicapping the race,
24:30
which keep in mind, I've been wrong in the last two presidential races.
24:33
If I'm handicapping the race right now, Donald Trump still wins. In
24:37
my opinion, no matter who, whether it's Biden or whether it's it's Harris
24:40
or anybody else, I think Donald Trump still wins. But again, keep
24:44
in mind I was wrong in the last two. But I will say this,
24:48
if Harris loses, then according to this gentleman I was talking to,
24:52
then it kind of pushes her out of the way for twenty twenty eight and
24:56
then you can get a new fresh group of people in there. Interesting thought
25:00
process. Interesting, let me oh wow. Tech says Biden didn't step aside.
25:11
He was forced out, says a texture. Tech says, I wonder
25:15
if West Virginians know that Republicans are funded by tech. No neo monarchist Peter

25:25

25:30

25:33
Democrats in Biden had made me feel like my vote absolutely doesn't matter. As
25:38
a veteran, I fought for everyone's right to vote, but I did not
25:41
vote for Kamala Harris or Mansion. But Pushkin just reiterated that the party will
25:45
now force someone I didn't vote for in the primary onto my general election ballot.
25:52
This is not the America I signed up for up to fight after nine
25:56

26:00
heading over to the county clerk to switch to independent, says a Texter.
26:10
Texas, Pushkin, do not take that righteously indignant tone in saying Trump needs
26:15
a toe down his rhetoric. Aoc to Instagram Thursday night to rant calling Donald
26:19
Trump a racist neo Nazi, just days after he survived in the assassination attempt.
26:25
Getting a little tired of the leftist hypocrisy, says a Texter. All
26:30

26:33

And as of today, there's only one party trying to establish Christianity as a
32:05
state religion in blatant violation of the Constitution. Vote against the violators, says
32:10

32:14
the GOP chair is nice of a Democrat chair is bitter and angry. They're
32:19
both very genuine people, says a Texture. Barbersville Mayor Chris Tatum joins us
32:24
right now, Mayor, good morning, how are you. I'm doing fine,
32:29
and I am not, not, sir, going to ask you away
32:31
in on national politics and to be honest with you, and to be honest
32:35
with you. I've been friends for you, for with enough for with you
32:37
for a number of years, and I actually have no idea what your stance
32:42
on national politics is and isn't that sometimes where we should be it is?
32:45
And you know what, at my level, potholes and quality of life are
32:50
not Democrat Republican issueses. How does the village of Barbersville how do they do?
32:55
Do they have Republican Democrat? Do they have no party? What do
32:59
they have? We have a single election? Uh? And it's it is
33:02
partisan. I mean they put our parties on the ballot. But it's a
33:07
single election process. So in all honesty, it doesn't matter. You're you're
33:10
voting in a in a general election once every four years. So it's you
33:15
know, it's not even of consequence here. We have both parties on our
33:20
that are that serve on our council. Uh So you know, like I
33:25
said, I don't think it's I don't think it's more. It's more about
33:29
who who you want to serve and the people you line up with and the
33:31
people that have passion for Barbersia. And even if they did not and we're
33:36
not elected, I think all those people who have run drops here have the
33:39
same thing in mind, which is just taking care of the town that they
33:43
grew up in. I mean, most of our folks are legacy families here
33:46
that are that are on counsel and part of the administration. So you know,
33:50
we have a we have a great relationship with mongst our citizens. And
33:54
of course, you know, everyone doesn't agree on everything, but for the
33:58
most part, you know, it's it's just let's do things for the people
34:01
that we serve and let's toss those ideas out there and see what's six.
34:07
And again, like I said, potholes and parks and things like that are
34:10
not democratic publican issues anyway, I agree, But I bring that up because
34:16
when I have candidates on even those that are running for nonpartisan elections as I
34:21
have, you know, from time to time, people will call up or
34:24
they'll text and they'll say what's their party, And I'm like, you know,
34:28
you know, they're running for surveyor right, I mean, does it
34:30
really matter? But people want to know these things. That's kind of where
34:34
we are right now, you know. I mean, it's just kind of
34:36
unfortunately, it's kind of been as you said, cities and towns. It's
34:38
about potholes, it's about parks, it's about pools and everything else that starts
34:42
with peas, I guess. So let's talk about the village of Barbersville.
34:46
It's it's been a very busy summer there. Of course, you've been sharing
34:52
a lot of the activities with the folks at Shawnee here in Kanawa County,
34:55
but overall it's been a pretty busy time in Barbersville. That has been in
35:00
this This US youth soccer tournament that just moved downtown between here and Shawnee is
35:06
a huge economic impact for the Valley. I mean here from Charleston to barber
35:12
Zille, and you have people staying in hotels from above Charleston all the way
35:15
to Grayson, Kentucky. We have a great relationship with Shawnee and the and
35:20
the commission in Kanawa County. Ben's Lango and I talk pretty regularly. Ben's
35:27
a great guy, you know, he just he just sees the benefit of
35:30
Shawnee. And you know, first I'll say this, I was a little
35:34
nervous about Shawnee, you know, quote unquote taking part of part of that
35:38
tournament. But it's turned into such a great relationship. Logistically because in other
35:44
cities where this tournament that's taking place, some of those folks are driving two
35:47
hours or more to their game site. You know, you add Shawnee into
35:53
the mix in Barbersville and you are lessening their travel times and logistically, you
36:00
know, they're they're staying in those areas anyway. So why not bring another
36:06
ency into the mix and make it more appealing for those visitors here and when
36:12
they don't have to drive and their experience is better, guess what they want
36:15
to come back. And that's the objecy exercise. It's getting all those athletes
36:19
and their families back and then gets that the same way that I do.
36:22
And it's turned into a fantastic relationship. And one of the things I like
36:25
about it is is, you know, again, if you're talking about teams
36:29
that are playing at Shawnee and they're also playing in Barbersville, and uh,
36:32
you know, those people are going to have a lot of downtime and they're
36:36
gonna eat in Tays Valley or they're going to eat in the Charlestonary. Some
36:38
are going to go to Barbersville, And so you kind of got again.
36:42
That's one of the reasons why I am a big proponent of this whole Advantage
36:45
Valley thing because and all I know, all the mayors are on board that
36:49
I've talked to, they have all said, you know, whether it's Saint
36:51
Albans, whether it's Niger or whatever, even on down to Barbersville and Huntington.
36:54
When we talk about sports, travel and things of that nature or festivals
36:59
or whatever, it is, what is good for Barbersville is good for Saint
37:00
Albans and what is good for Nitro is good for Winfield. And having all
37:05
of these cities kind of working together, everybody can kind of kind of reap
37:08
in the benefits mayor the rising tide lifts off ships man and and the cool
37:13
thing is that Dave Case Bold and Nitro gets it. God James in Saint
37:16
Amans gets it, Randy Bird and Winfield gets it, Scott Edwards and Hurt
37:22
and Hurricane gets it, and on and on. I'm just saying that these
37:24
these folks can plan things around those athletes and their families too. I mean,
37:29
Huntington has the concert series on Thursday, when those when those welcome packets
37:34
go out and and and those things are given out at check in for the
37:37
for the tournament itself. There's something in those in in the in that information
37:43
about what's going on in and almost every one of those towns. Uh,
37:46
and we they're they're rolling out red carpet to get them in those areas.
37:50
And you're right. I mean they're gonna they're gonna come shopping to Barbersville,
37:53
They're gonna they're gonna come up to They're gonna be in Charleston. Then they
37:57
might want to go see a live on the Levy Show. I mean,
37:59
it's it's opportunity for everybody. And then they all get that and they all
38:02
plan things for those athletes and our family and it's just turned into such a
38:07
huge event for everyone, not just Charleston, that Shawnee and Barbersville at our
38:12
sports complex, but everyone else too. And they get that. But Dave

38:31
mayor what else is new? What's going on in Barbarusa? What do
38:35
you got new for us? Well, and most recently the council, we've
38:39
we've closed down one of our alleys for outdoor dining in the downtown area,
38:45
so Bruno's will be opening. We're in the former Main Street on Central restaurant
38:50
space here in the short term. Kerber Beer the Tacker Room has opened in
38:55
Barbersville just down that alley, so it's going to be a nice outdoor space
39:00
for folks to be able to have food, drink and be outside their planning
39:04
some entertainment options for that space as well, so you've got the option of
39:07
Bruno's eighteen sixty one public house cover beer company. You can slide over to
39:13
Orbits Record Shopper. Downtown is really developed now with a lot of fantastic local
39:19
business owners. Village Caregiving has are erecting their corporate offices in one of the
39:27
largest building projects in downtown. In the last probably I'm going to say thirty
39:30
years, they'll have thirty to forty office spaces in their nationwide headquarters will be
39:36
located right and the downtown barber Zilt. Those guys are our natives to Warbzil.
39:40
They love living here and they want to stay here. So they're the
39:45
largest and faster. They're the fastest growing home health organization in the country.
39:50
But when when I took office, just shortly after they got you know,
39:52
they decide they're going to move into downtown Barberzil. They were in ten counties
39:55
in the Tri City area. They are now in thirty eight states. It's
40:00
an incredible, incredible story for the partners at Village Caregiving. But not only
40:06
that, there's a few other things going on. We've got the opening of
40:09
the first Dave and Busters in the state of West Virginia on August the nineteenth.
40:14
They'll open their doors to the public. As you know, that's a
40:17
huge entertainment venue and people very excited about that too. Before we let you
40:22
go, I got to ask what's the status of the target that fell off
40:24
the mountain. They have no pun intended. They're targeting October one, but
40:32
their banner on building says opening in early fall of twenty twenty four. But
40:37
they're looking at trying to get to October. The first is there is there
40:43
date that they would aspire to be having their doors open, And I think
40:47
that they're excited about getting back open here. They've done enormous repairs. And
40:52
I will tell you on that hillside slip the building, the ground might move,
40:55
but the building it'll take the Holy Ghost to move the building. That's
41:00
an interesting way to put it all right. He is the mayor of the

other Democrats are trying to tell me I already voted for Kamala Harris for president
44:13
in the primary. I absolutely did not. Coming up on tomorrow's show,
44:16
Michael Mustellar is here. He is a Democrat running for House out of Putnam
44:21
County District twenty one. He will join us on the show tomorrow's. Well
44:23
does TJ Meadows. There's a name you may not have heard in a while.
44:25
TJ formerly guest hosted for Hoppy from time to time. Good dude,
44:30
good friend of mine. And we're gonna he's gonna weigh in on the Biden
44:31
decision to drop out that's coming on tomorrow's show. With all that we've gone
44:36
through in the last week, with the attempt on former President Trump's life with
44:38
the RNC, the announcement to President Biden is withdrawing from the race, we
44:43
need something to unite us all and could it be? Could it be?
44:45
Could it be? Hot Dogs? Ja Silverman Internet Sensation Jay Silverman is here.
44:52
Good morning, Good morning, Internet sensation only on YouTube. That's it,
44:55
That's that's about it. Are you an influencer? Jay? I think
44:59
I am a little bit, especially when it comes to hot dogs. If
45:02
you go to YouTube have fun WV you can find the whole hot dog tour
45:06
there, so you know, if you've seen a few videos, you might
45:08
know something. So you and I have been friends Jay for a number of
45:12
years, but you're a California guy. Yep. Why this interest in West
45:15
Virginia hot dogs or does your interest in hot dogs go beyond? Oh,
45:19
it goes beyond. I just it's my personal preference while working in baseball.
45:23
But in baseball for eighteen for the Dirty Bird, Yes, for eighteen seasons.
45:28
And I also worked for the Sacramento Rivercats, so northern California. So
45:32
you know, whenever you need a break, and the only good food that's
45:36
remaining in the ballpark after certain hours are the leftover hot dogs. So sometimes
45:40
you need a snack and the hot dog is where it is. So many
45:44
years of baseball has procured me to so many hot dogs. The thing about
45:47
the hot dogs is is there are so many. It's I kind of like
45:50
pizza, but I think there's more variety of hot dogs. My wife is
45:52
from Chicago originally, Okay, it sounds a little weird, but the Chicago
45:58
dogs, I love them. The pickle spears and it's got to be the
46:00
certain kind of you know, with the with the relation and the whole the
46:04
I love Chicago dogs. Yes, I'm actually going to make a trip to
46:06
Chicago probably next spring, just to personally try a beloved fig. You got
46:12
to go to Portillo's. That's where you guess? Is that where I gotta
46:14
go? That's one of the places. I mean, they're all over the
46:15
city. Hey, if you tell me to go there, I will go
46:17
there, all right. Be careful where I tell you to go, all
46:21
right, all right? And I have before. But that's another story.
46:22
So okay, so hot dogs in West Virginia. Yes, is the Slaw
46:27
line a real thing? Not really, because because you know, the same
46:30
thing when it comes to the chili, Like if you go to the Eastern
46:32
and Northern panhandles, they make chili. Granted there's beans and some most of
46:37
them, but they also serve Coleslaw on the side for certain things like barbecue
46:42
joints and things. There's always law somewhere to be found. Yeah, So
46:45
you just tell them what you want and they go they look at you funny,
46:47
but they go, oh, okay, I hope my good friend Mike
46:50
Queen has listened to this. Mike, Yes, But Mike from Clarksburg,
46:52
and he's all about the that slaw abs. He'll, he'll, he'll take
46:57
you outside and fight you and say slaw does not belong on hot dog.
47:00
Well, unfortunately, as as the governor has proclamated it even says here,
47:05
folks that the proclamation of a West Virginia style hot dog is topped with mustard,
47:10
onion, chili and cola. It is right there by the Governor,
47:15
Jim Justice. I'm sure he's had a few. Yeah, maybe maybe maybe
47:20
baby dogs had a few. All right, So you you put out this
47:22
list, what it was it a year or so ago about the best hot
47:24
dogs in West Virginia. Yeah, well, I mean this is more contentient.
47:29
This is there was more controversy over that than anything I've ever talked about
47:32
in politics on there. Yeah, yes, we created a civil war.
47:35
We had over two and a half million people respond within a week about the
47:38
list basically, so we were out looking for the best West Virginia style hot
47:44
dog. It's the style hot dog with the coast law. So we went
47:45
to the every region in West Virginia from the you know, from the eastern
47:50
panel, northern panandle down south every where you can think of Longlehelia area,
47:53
I mean everywhere, two hundred and eighty four restaurants. We went to my
47:57
own pop places only and how long did it take you to do two and
48:00
a half years? Two and a half years? Yea, it was crazy.
48:01
And as soon as the list came out, you knew you were gonna
48:04
get hammered, because what about what about? Right right? Any list that
48:07
doesn't have X is a lot not a real list, correct, And for
48:12
me, it seemed like as if that was your personal favorite growing up,
48:15
the nostalgia behind it, and to me, that's the reason why it's so
48:19
good to you. But if you travel around and try other people's hot dogs,
48:22
you may realize, oh, well, maybe mine isn't so. And
48:24
who ended up winning the whole thing? Who had the best? And Tornado,
48:28
believe it or not, not too far from here. So a little
48:30
place called Bogie's Driving Range got a perfect fifteen out of fifteen score. They
48:35
smoked their hot dog and all beef dog of course, and it's topped with
48:38
their chili hot dog chili, and they actually reduced it down and put it
48:44
on the smoker as well, so you get that kind of like new smoke
48:47
taste basically, and it was amazing. The coastlaw was great. It was
48:51
chunky was and those folks are going to be the ones that are putting in
48:54
the place over at Capital Market. Yeah, that's correct. I was having
48:57
lunch there are a couple of weeks ago and talking to Evan and the folk
49:00
over at Capitol Market. They've had a couple of little delays here and there,
49:01
but they're going to put the barbecue place in over here replacing the seafood
49:06
place over at the Capitol Market. I know, I'm very excited for him.
49:07
I go there frequently now because of the hot dog. It's so good,
49:10
all right, So being a Logan guy, okay and Logan, you
49:14
know, there are two types of hot dogs, and it's kind of like
49:16
if you go to Philly and everything's either Pats or Geno's Logan, you're either
49:21
Morrisons or Parkway. I'm a Morrison's guy, although I don't get slaw on
49:25
them because the chili is so good. In my opinion, the law takes
49:29
away from it because the chili is so good. You were not as enamored
49:31
though with Morrison's when you went there right now, really, I mean it's
49:35
maybe just had an off day, you know what happened. And like you
49:38
said, Jay, it's so much of this comes down to what what do
49:42
you think? You know? And and and you know, I've been I've
49:45
been away from there for ten years, and now the first thing I do
49:47
when I get in town is I got to go there. I may not
49:49
have gone there in the previous six months that I lived there, but did
49:52
you go to Parkway too? I went everywhere? Yeah. Yeah. So
49:55
sometimes what we realize is, I think Morrison's is one of them, is
49:59
they have a boiled so they don't really you know, I like a nice,
50:01
good grilled dog, you know, grill marks, you know what I
50:04
mean. So sometimes you get a wet dog out of the boil, you
50:07
know, you stick it on a steamed bun, and now all of a
50:09
sudden that bun is a little extra wet. So sometimes you get into the
50:14
part where they put a chili sauce where it's more saucy instead of chunky,
50:20
and then it adds a little more wet to it. Then they wrap it
50:22
up in wax paper. It's a cell a phane actually, I think it
50:24
is. Whatever it is, and it creates more It takes extra Congress sometimes
50:29
to unwrap them. It's right, it's right, it really does. Some
50:32
of the places around Charleston that may have made your listen. Some of the
50:35
best ones is Dem Two Brothers and a Girl. They I just had one
50:39
other day to help promote obviously the proclamation of the Western Style Hot Dog Month,
50:45
which is July and basically Dim two Brothers is by far one of the
50:50
best. Also topping that is Galaxy Lanes up there. Yeah. Yeah,
50:55
so they're actually in one of the top five. Okay, all right,
50:58
yeah, very good. Talk about this whole have fun thing though, because
51:00
it's about more than just food, right, Yes. So for the last
51:02
five years, every Friday about ten am, there's a new video it comes
51:07
out about West Virginia. So we've had over about a million views, which
51:13
is great with all the content we have about sixty four I see weeks.
51:16
There's a bunch of us that are that go out and try food and stuff.
51:20
But you can challenge us to go to one of your favorite mom and
51:22
pop restaurants and try X y Z dish, and we'll go there and try
51:25
it. I mean, it might take a couple months for us to get
51:28
down there and do it, but we'll produce the video and stuff like that.
51:30
And now that the hot Dog Tour is over, we're looking for unique
51:35
hot dogs. So we're looking for any interesting topics just you know, so
51:38
like a great one, you know that we could go to there would be
51:42
super Weeny and they have like a list of great ones and go to yeah,
51:45
or you can go to Hillbilly hot Dog and they have a array of
51:47
different ones, which is which is unique. You know, people come from
51:51
all around for He'll be like, oh yeah, so yeah, so we
51:52
go everywhere. So how can people get in touch with you? Yes,
51:54
so you can write on down there at half fun WV over at YouTube,
