- 0:02An experiment some years ago showed that stones that came
- 0:06from a temple where ongoing worship had been taking place
- 0:10held and radiated in energy not found in stones that had not
- 0:14been subjected to the influence of constant prayer.
- 0:18Just as stones absorb heat vibrations and then radiate them
- 0:22back later, the psychic and vital energy of the prayers gets
- 0:27absorbed and radiated back. Many people have reported a deep
- 0:33spiritual or religious experience when visiting certain
- 0:36temples or viewing certain icons.
- 0:41If we reflect on the implication of this, we can see that the
- 0:45idea of relics, that is, a small piece of hair or nails from an
- 0:51individual who has had infused into him substantial spiritual
- 0:55energy over time has a conceptual basis.
- 1:00The experience of individuals who come into contact with those
- 1:03relics validates this concept with practical experience.
- 1:09Both religious and spiritual traditions speak to the reality
- 1:13of the force that radiates through the presence of the
- 1:16relics. A somewhat similar experience
- 1:20arises from the energy that people can receive through
- 1:23photographs. The visual sense picks up the
- 1:26vibratory pattern of the individual photographed, and
- 1:30this is communicated in an occult manner and can influence
- 1:34the inner response. When people read books, they
- 1:39tend to focus primarily on the sense of the words and in some
- 1:43cases, the meaning behind the external sense.
- 1:48What is implied between the lines?
- 1:51However, there is another element altogether.
- 1:55This is the element of the communication of an energy of
- 1:58consciousness through the concentration of the reader on
- 2:02the writing and a receptivity to open to the status of
- 2:06consciousness, the standpoint and the energy of the person who
- 2:11did the writing. By reading not just with the
- 2:15mental capability but with the receptive psychic sense, it is
- 2:20possible for an individual to contact the consciousness of the
- 2:24writer and thereby gain, at least partially, the experience
- 2:29that the writer had at the time of writing.
- 2:33This is particularly true for writing that holds a high
- 2:36energetic vibratory pattern that demands more of the reader in
- 2:41order to gain a more complete understanding of what is being
- 2:44communicated. Many people have experienced
- 2:48that during the reading of Sri Aurobindo's Savitri, a legend
- 2:51and a symbol, that they have spontaneously been transported
- 2:58into a different state of consciousness.
- 3:00They report seeing and hearing in the background, so to speak,
- 3:05all manner of visions and sounds.
- 3:09They report a wide range of spiritual experiences, and in
- 3:13many cases they experienced profound episodes of new
- 3:17understanding and insight. The extent of the impact depends
- 3:23both on the intensity and power of the consciousness that
- 3:27created the object and the receptivity, openness, and
- 3:32capacity for holding the concentration of the individual
- 3:36interacting with that object, the mother observes.
- 3:41Quote Everything is contained potentially.
- 3:45Each element of a whole potentially contains what is in
- 3:49the whole. It's a little difficult to
- 3:52explain but you will understand with an example.
- 3:56When people want to practice magic, if they have a bit of
- 4:01nail or hair, it is enough for them, because within this
- 4:06potentially there is all that is in the being itself, and in a
- 4:11book there is potentially not expressed, not manifest, the
- 4:19knowledge which is in the person who wrote the book.
- 4:22Thus Sri Aurobindo represented a totality of comprehension and
- 4:27knowledge and power, and every one of his books is at once a
- 4:31symbol and a representation. Every one of his books contains
- 4:36symbolically potentially what is in him.
- 4:41Therefore, if you concentrate on the book, you can through the
- 4:45book, go back to the source and even by passing through the book
- 4:52you will be able to receive much more than what is just in the
- 4:56book. End Quote.
