- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to. Record a podcast.
- 0:15To teach distinctions, possibilities, new ways of
- 0:18thinking, and just bring some joy.
- 0:20Into the. World.
- 0:21So welcome to the coop and let's start your day off in a
- 0:24fantastic way, hey? Everybody good morning from the
- 0:29very very very wet farm. We had over 10 inches of rain in
- 0:34a day and that is crazy. The water is finally is not
- 0:40raining. The water is everywhere.
- 0:42I mean at the end of our dirt Rd. it turned into an absolute
- 0:48like running river of water and I have never personally seen it
- 0:53do that before. I haven't seen it get wet.
- 0:56My neighbor neighbors pond has actually gone over out of its
- 1:02banks as well but into the entire property.
- 1:06So it looks like his house is on stilts in the middle of the
- 1:09property. Never saw that before.
- 1:12It is just crazy how much water we got.
- 1:17That being said, that changes plans because this weekend I had
- 1:22had plans. I'm air quoting, I'd had plans
- 1:24to shoot some videos. I've got all kinds of milkweed
- 1:27blooming. I've got butterfly pee bushes
- 1:32blooming. And so I wanted to make a
- 1:34butterfly PT and I had been waiting for that and waiting for
- 1:38that and could not, you know, perfect timing.
- 1:42And then the rain came and, you know, we go through this all the
- 1:46time where we have our best laid plans and then something
- 1:49happens. Something will take us out.
- 1:51Something will say, hey, you know what?
- 1:54You thought this was what was going to happen.
- 1:56And here you go. It's a pivot moment.
- 2:00I look at these things all the time as a pivot moment.
- 2:03I could sit here, I could be annoyed, I could be upset.
- 2:06I could go through and say this is not on my schedule.
- 2:09But what good does that do me? It doesn't do me any good at
- 2:12all. You know, there are massive ways
- 2:16to get aggravated with everything and I'm just not
- 2:19choosing to do that because again, I get to manage my
- 2:22emotions. And the cool part about being
- 2:24able to choose your emotion is when it shows up and it doesn't
- 2:27feel good, you get to change it. So I could sit here and as I'm
- 2:31looking out, I'm saying, Oh my God, what's so cool about this
- 2:35morning is that the Ibis are everywhere.
- 2:38So Ibis are a fat water bird and they are, they're everywhere.
- 2:45And they like to fish in the water, like in the the the mushy
- 2:51parts of like the creeks or the edges of the Martian area in the
- 2:57woods. When the woods all fill up with
- 2:59water, they'll fly in. And they are everywhere.
- 3:01We have hundreds of them, much to Beaufort's dismay.
- 3:05He's like, what is that? And should I chase it?
- 3:07And we're discussing that as he sits beside me and now licking
- 3:11my face because I'm like, nobody, they're friends.
- 3:14We're not going to go out and and get rid of them.
- 3:17So they're everywhere. And that's a treat that we
- 3:20normally don't have because we're not normally that wet out
- 3:23here. I mean, some mornings, if it's,
- 3:25you know, been a little rainy and we've got some puddles,
- 3:27they'll fly in and check and see what's there.
- 3:29But for the most part, they're really not here that much.
- 3:32So now they're here in droves and I'm loving it.
- 3:37So I'm sitting here saying to myself, OK, this is a pivot
- 3:39moment. So what things do I need to work
- 3:42on other than this while it's, you know, drying out before I
- 3:45can get out there and actually do some filming and do some
- 3:49stuff? What can I do?
- 3:50Well, the truth is I need to go and fix my LinkedIn because my
- 3:53LinkedIn is not completed and it's not done the right way.
- 3:57And when you have a coaching client who's an expert in
- 4:00LinkedIn, you need to have that fixed.
- 4:03So I am actually going to be sitting down and I'm going to be
- 4:06doing that and I'm going to be cleaning up a bunch of other
- 4:08things too that are just like paperwork stuff until I can get
- 4:12this area where I can go back outside and say, OK, now, I
- 4:17mean, I there are spots where I literally, if I go walking, I'm
- 4:20going to be up to my knees in water.
- 4:22So it's not like I can just go out and start gardening.
- 4:24I mean, although pulling weeds in this is really good because
- 4:27if they just pop right out and that may be on the agenda,
- 4:31especially as it cools off this week.
- 4:33Today is really humid. But again, all of these are
- 4:35pivot moments. So I always think of it in terms
- 4:39of, OK, this is a pivot and the universe is clearly looking for
- 4:44me to do something different, clearly looking for me to get
- 4:46out there and and work on something.
- 4:48I should clearly getting, you know, me focused on something
- 4:51else. I choose not to get upset about
- 4:54it long term in the moment. Do I get aggravated?
- 4:57I would be lying if I said no. Of course I do.
- 5:00I get aggravated sometimes and often when it comes to this
- 5:03stuff like for instance, I normally love to go to Costco on
- 5:07the weekends get all my stuff done early so I have the whole
- 5:10weekend open. Well, that couldn't happen
- 5:11because it started pouring like a Friday afternoon and it didn't
- 5:15quit until this morning. So it was it was pretty crazy
- 5:20and I didn't want to go you know, out there on these flooded
- 5:23roads everywhere around us is flooded.
- 5:25So pivot moment we had to go eat dinner last night because didn't
- 5:29go shopping to get stuff. So we ended up going out as a
- 5:33family, going to dinner and then running into Costco quickly and
- 5:37grabbing what we need and come home.
- 5:38So with the the chore was ended up it ended up being done just
- 5:42not on the time frame that I normally do it.
- 5:44So that throws my certainty girl off.
- 5:46But I'm like, no, we're not doing that.
- 5:47We're not having that moment. We're doing something different.
- 5:50Instead, we're having a different moment.
- 5:52So the point is I'm trying to manage my emotions through it.
- 5:58I'm choosing better emotions through it by just making
- 6:02distinctions about no, this is just a pivot.
- 6:04This is a way to go and I highly recommend it because it really,
- 6:08really helps. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:10you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:12Bye.
