- speaker-0: Let's go baby. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. We're back, man. speaker-1: It has been too long before we can get back to this. I've been itching, man. This is like you know this. This is like I don't know, Christmas morning early for us. speaker-0: Right. And hopefully it's the same feeling for the pool, man. if you're watching on video, you got Commissioner Papi you got Commish Bonez at the other end, got a little guest appearance. Bobby Boucher. speaker-1: Bouchet? speaker-0: Bobby Boucher. what movie is that from, ladies and gentlemen? Hopefully you can get that man. Nineteen ninety-eight comedy. speaker-1: nineteen ninety eight? Is that really when it came out? speaker-0: that's what I call high quality. What is it? speaker-1: What is it? H two o East Tennessee Southern State. speaker-0: I actually have the name the name of the team on here. I I don't remember it. speaker-1: Is it? No. I don't think it's well it's just like the colors and stuff, but speaker-0: Foosball legend Baby Boucher. speaker-1: So good. Such a good movie. speaker-0: Yep. all right. Well let's just jump into things, man. I I want to talk the rules of the land. I want to talk the pool, man. We've made major strides there. We went from a hundred and twenty-four family members to drum roll. speaker-1: Mr. speaker-0: One hundred and sixty one members, man. That is crazy. Which means we have record weekly payouts. If you are our weekly winner, you're getting a thousand dollars a week. That's insane. speaker-1: Thousands of dollars is really nothing to to sneeze at, man. Like we're we're really doing it up. And I'm honestly proud to say that we we did this. You've been killing it with the selling too, man. And honestly, there's a lot to sell with it. I don't know any other pool that's giving this much value. So thank you to obviously to everyone. And please, you know, engage with us. Please comment on these videos. go to all of our social media platforms, Fourth and Bonilla you'll see it. It's easy. You've seen the logo. we're trying to have a lot of fun with this. And yeah. All thanks to you guys for doing this. So we really appreciate it. speaker-0: Like and subscribe, baby. season winners, just to mention it. It's first place, second place, third place, first place three thousand, second place two thousand, third place one thousand. Tiebreakers will apply, obviously, but you can read your email for once. like Mike said, we're bringing as much value as possible. So we have our weekly newsletter, we have our podcast. If you're the winner, you're coming on the pod. So you want to get on there, man. And we've got speaker-1: So speaker-0: far. No right? If we're talking in totality, man, we've had some exposure to ESPN. we've had a couple of professional athletes on the pool. So it's it's a good opportunity to just jam with us. we really want to hear your story for the week. And we want to just make your Sundays and Mondays fun. That's online. Totally there was one other thing we added. Go ahead Mike with it. speaker-1: We got a brand new feature, folks. You saw that those payouts are obviously clean, right? So if you do the math on the people and the pay-in, it leaves us with $150. Right. So there was a couple of th different options that we wanted to do with that. And just want to give it back to the crew for value-wise, right? We're always looking for different options. We don't really want to take anything on the top of this pool. It's always about the fun and entertainment. So after going through it, if you were to add it to you know the weekly win, you're only getting like eight dollars a week. So it'd be a thousand and eight dollars. That's not enough value, enough juice. and then obviously if you split it between the overall winnings, is again, it's just really small. So the way we thought about it was like, well, what's a way we can get even more money to everybody and have everyone in it, even if like despite you guys being out of it, your picks. So what we're gonna do is every week, the Sunday sleep plus Monday, we are going to flip a coin. And we're gonna write it down and we're gonna put that bet in with the $150 split between 18 weeks. Essentially what it comes down to is around eight dollars and thirty-three cents for that parlay, right? And obviously once we once we do that, you know, we'll see how much you know, obviously it's like a lottery ticket at the end of the day, right? Like having that better odds if if anything. And honestly the goal really should be anyone in the pool should not have less picks than that. Because that would be really funny. But yeah, this is just our way of you know of giving value back and trying to be innovative. So if there's any comments, any suggestions on changing that, we're all open to it. But I think everyone should be excited for the squad ride. speaker-0: Squad Ride Bet. And we're doing those picks on Instagram live. It'll either be your Sunday morning or your S Saturday. We'll c we'll communicate with folks. If you want to get on there, do some banter in the live chat. We'll be flipping that coin for each matchup, announcing it and then sending it over via email. So really excited about the squad ride. Mike, that was your idea. Kudos to you, brother. hey, speaker-1: Thank speaker-0: the the only the other person on our Instagram that kicked off the season, I don't wanna forget to mention this, was NFL. That's our rookies of the year. thank you for those existing members that beared with us there. But we gotta give our flowers to everyone and thank them. and now our week one winner, Ryan Luddy. Let's go! Week one winner. speaker-1: Dude, talk to me, man. the stakes are high now. This is a different ball game now. This this pool used to be like, you know, here's a couple, like eighty dollars, hundred dollars. Now we're at a thousand dollars, dude. Like how does that feel? speaker-2: Amazing. Honestly, I didn't I didn't think it was that high. And then I saw like the email from you, Pete, and I was like, shit. speaker-0: I can't take this serious now! speaker-2: It is a long time coming, speaker-0: dude, this is a long time coming because you're a day one. You've been in the pool for quite some time now. speaker-2: Yeah, that was that was wild, man. Like I I obviously the way the week started off, I was like, Pats blew that, but yeah, it ended up being a great ending to the week. speaker-0: Dude, that's why we do the spread, right? You won on the hook with the pad. speaker-2: Yeah. Like I like I was obviously invested in the outcome of that game for like just being a fan, but like I I still got the pick too. speaker-0: Ac actually, before we jump into the questions, I did want to get some background on like how did you become a Patriots fan? I never got that story from you. speaker-2: So I'm from Western Connecticut, but honestly I I spent a lot of summers in Cape Cod and just was probably like more ingratiated with like New England itself. So even though like by all accounts I probably should be a New York fan, I'm not. Easiest way to say that. Nothing speaker-0: Ha ha ha. speaker-2: personal. I mean, I've been to Knicks games back in the day, saw like the Spurs play there with like Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Like that was amazing. speaker-0: Avery Johnson, yep. speaker-2: The Twin Towers, man. but yeah, like it was it wasn't like planned. I mean, like I was I'm a Whalers fan, but obviously since Connecticut lost their hockey team, I kinda adopted the Bruins, but now Connecticut has nothing. speaker-1: They really don't. speaker-0: They have a Connecticut Sun and they're going. That's the WNBA team and they're leaving. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. are they had they're leaving Pete? speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. speaker-2: I did not know that. speaker-1: Did you guys see that that sports documentary on the Connecticut team that was like it's like the Thrashers? You know what I'm talking about, right? Thres or something like that? speaker-2: Like the tra like the trail that guy was like trying to be Tony Soprano, basically. Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah. Dude, that story is wild. That was such an entertaining a documentary on Netflix. I it was on Netflix, I think. Or like ESPN. speaker-2: What was nuts was that I was completely blind to that. I think that was like prime time when I was in the Marines. So it was like I was like, When did this happen? I was like, What? speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. speaker-0: Exactly. Add add that to the watch list, the thrashers, huh? speaker-1: U P you haven't seen it? No, I haven't seen it. speaker-2: It's that series that's like w I forget what it's called. It's not a thirty for thirty, but it's speaker-1: Untold? Untold. speaker-0: I have seen it to be honest with you. I love those I love those docs. speaker-1: They do such a good job with that stuff, man. But that is a wild story. speaker-0: People need to comment in the in the comments for YouTube if you've seen the doc and let us know what you guys think. yeah. But another good story is how you made these picks, man. Tell us. Tell us how you made the picks and and was there any particular strategy over the years or for this specific week? speaker-2: I mean honestly just checking the current rosters, a little bit of like the historical matchup as much as that doesn't come into play. although some somewhat and then honestly flipping that on its head sometimes, just like, no, go the other way. speaker-1: Seriously though. I feel like that helped that like works and it happens more often than you think. Yeah. speaker-2: I I mean I I've had some close weeks, but admittedly I I wasn't sure about this one. I didn't think I was coming out b on top, to be honest. speaker-0: you typically make your you set and forget it kind of guy? Do you set it and then you kind of make some changes along the way as you get more information? What how do you typically go about it? speaker-2: I I usually try to get them ahead of time. like actually I saw that the one for like the picks for week two are already there and I I picked Buffalo already, but like I'm not gonna do the Sunday ones till later on. But as far as like I made them Wednesday, like before the Pats Seahawks game and then didn't touch until literally I changed the total score like five minutes before last night's game and go like go figure. I'm glad it didn't play into things, but I had forty one and I changed it for to forty two. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: Mm-hmm. speaker-0: There was someone else that had a tie number, right? They I think Brian Big O had like a tie number if if the Deborah Broncos would have won last night. speaker-1: Yeah, he had Broncos though. Yep. Yeah. He was texting us too. Like it's so funny 'cause everyone who can touch is like, Man, I don't know what to do with the total. Like I'm th I'm like I feel like I'm overthinking it. And it's like it's not prices right. So it's like you just gotta get like a good number. You know what I mean? I speaker-2: Don't even know where I got forty one from, but then I was curious. I literally just Googled like, hey, what's the average like total points between Broncos and Chiefs historically? And it was like forty three and a half or something. So I was like, all right, forty two sounds pretty good. And then like I was like, I'll leave it. speaker-0: Did you look at the over under at all? speaker-2: Not really, man. Like it was just I I honestly figured like the the Chiefs were gonna roll. Like I didn't think the Broncos were really gonna be like last year. I thought it was gonna get ugly and it did. speaker-0: And and what was your sweat of the week? Did you have I mean I I mean I ki I would assume Monday's your sweat of the week. what about your bad beat of the week? speaker-2: like honestly, I thought like Dallas and New York, that game was gonna necessarily bake like make me or break me. I forget like I didn't really totally look at the whole picture as far as like, is this giving me like this total or would this give me that total? So I was just like, man, why did I pick Dallas? And then I after like the smoke cleared, I like, I'm I'm still tired of everybody. speaker-0: Well that's all I didn't know that you got the Sunday night game wrong. Yep. speaker-1: So if you would have got that game, he would have been outright. speaker-0: outright in winner first week. You know how hard that is? Like there's literally so many changes, coach changes, roster changes, and you don't know how they're gonna come out. Like you're just going based on the previous year. Like it's that's impossible. It's like we week week one you're just trying to survive so you don't get out of the season contention, you know? Right. speaker-2: Yeah. I mean it was what the ended up being twelve, twelve out of sixteen. but like I I feel like I would like it's gone now, but I don't I honestly wonder like how many people pick the Rams because you know, super team on paper. Yep. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: That was crazy. By the way, like they flew in was it forty eight hours or seventy two hours before the game versus the forty niners got there like two weeks ahead of time. speaker-2: That's true. But still it was wild with like now isn't Miles Garrett like out now and you're just like, Well Yeah. speaker-1: Nuts. Nuts. Yeah. speaker-2: I don't know. Aaron Donald's gonna like maybe I should speaker-0: It's like I'm retired right now. speaker-1: The idea of like everyone there sounds amazing, but then you think about injuries and it's like that that is a that is a part of the game. It's just like it's gonna be there every year, you gotta plan for it. And he'll be back and I think they'll be okay, but they definitely got punched in the face in this first game. speaker-2: Yeah, they're still they're still solid. I mean, like I'll give as two, like McKay and like their whole team is they're well coached and I mean, Stafford's still like a a great Q V, so I'm sure they'll be right up there in the contenders still. speaker-1: Totally. Totally. So I guess it's safe to say like going into Monday night, you were pretty confident in that it seems like you were pretty confident in the Chiefs at least. speaker-2: I was kinda all in on that one. and then I don't have I don't I don't have cable because I don't really have a need for it. So I literally didn't see a moment of the game. Like not a second. Dead serious. I had like speaker-0: Your phone? speaker-2: I had like a a FUBU account like up on the TV or something that was just like refreshing the score. And every now and then I was just looking up and I was like, all right, it's going up. That's where I want it to go. And then I saw 31 ten and I was like I saw thirty one ten like with most of the fourth left and I was like, yo, I just won. speaker-0: Bro, you didn't you didn't even do like the radio. You just went straight like you mean the where at the end where you like refresh like is there a way to refresh it fast? speaker-1: Ha. speaker-2: Well I mean I can't at that point I was going on to CBS sports, like just like really checking and I'm like, all right, who could really challenge? And I'm like, Nobody. I was like, shit. speaker-1: So wait, you did you so you have the highest? speaker-2: Yeah. Okay. yeah. So once it was like once it was clear Casey had it, like I had it and it was like the it was already forty one at that point. Like going into the or like I wanna say twelve, thirteen minutes left in the fourth. So I was like, it's over. speaker-1: So sick. And honestly, like the Chief the Chief I don't know if you like well, you didn't see it, but like if you heard it, dude, the Chief Stadium was very loud. I mean, they were rocking, dude. And you could feel it. Like Kenneth Walker, he's a game changer. speaker-2: Yeah. I mean I yeah, what can I say? He ran all over the like my pets, man. speaker-1: That's right. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, it's it's still too too soon, Mike. Too soon. speaker-2: No no no, I forgot he went to K C and I was like, right. So like, yep. I was like speaker-0: That was your deciding factor. He won that game single handedly for you. speaker-2: Yeah, he did. Like they had no answer. speaker-1: It really feels like I mean you were saying earlier, Pete, right? Like it's these teams that like let these guys go and you see the talent, but it's like, do you just justify paying him? 'Cause honestly, you could have if they pay him, Seattle's easily back in it. I mean, you could argue that they're still back in it too. They look great. yeah. speaker-0: Okay. They looked okay. I could have done a little bit better to be honest with you. Like three interceptions by Drake May. They only scored thirteen speaker-2: Yeah. I mean he scored speaker-1: A lot. speaker-2: he had he had some bad balls that he threw and speaker-0: Bad decision making, like just like you know, brain farts. speaker-2: Even just like Matt Collins, that last pass, I was like, Yo, you can throw him a jump ball in the back of the like end zone and he'll get that man. Yeah. speaker-0: Hey, you still had time left. speaker-1: Yeah. I mean, let's let's dig into that game just a little before we get into the that next question. I mean, what did you like walk me through that game? Do you feel like this is just beginning of the year kind of jitters getting out? They're still trying to figure out the system. Obviously a lot happened with the Patriots this offseason with with the coach and stuff. So like what do you think about that? speaker-2: I mean the coach and like correspondent drama was kind of like whatever, that's just off the field. But I know obviously it it drew like a lot of bad attention. but I'm not too worried about it, honestly. It was just week one. Part of me felt like, yeah, they're probably gonna they might lose again in Seattle. And then but then once Darnold went down, I was like, okay, the door's open to just like the first half they they had it, and then totally different half. They they're terrible in the second half. speaker-1: Yeah, injuries started piling up there. I feel like so you got what AJ, right? And then who else wasn't there another running back? speaker-2: I'm trying. speaker-1: I know if that was a running back, maybe not. speaker-2: I know obviously Darnold was huge for Seattle, AJ for us, and then speaker-1: One or more or a few others, yeah. I can't remember now if it was like anyone huge, but it's tough to lose AJ, bro. speaker-2: Yeah. and then on top of that, like D like Dobbs was like gone like not even there. The whole speaker-1: I know. I know. speaker-2: time I'm thinking, like, if we had just kept Caix on, man. Yeah. speaker-1: that's amazing. well look, there's there's a final question that I wanted to ask. It's a tradition on the show. it's your victory song, right? So it's a song that describes your performance this week. Give me give me what that is. It could be fun-hearted, it could anything you're feeling in your heart. let me know your what your thoughts are there. speaker-2: Well, this is kinda like too perfect, but honestly, I'd say Triumph by Wu Tang. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: I love Reason Reason why? I mean, obviously nine eleven happened and all eyes were on like New York on Friday and coincidentally, Friday I was watching Woo and Bone Thugs in Holmedale. So speaker-1: really? Yeah. How was that? speaker-2: that was amazing, man. So yeah, that was it felt appropriate. I was like, Yeah, well what what's better than it but the title itself kind of fits. speaker-1: Yeah. Totally. Totally. Yeah, dude. It's such an emotional weekend. I was we were just talking about that before. It's like I mean, you know, you know the background on that one. And emotions just fly through even if it's twenty five years later, right? Which is insane. I can't believe it's twenty five years. speaker-2: So I was out in com school, man, like just started in the Marines and I was just like, Yeah, things just got real, man. speaker-1: Totally. speaker-0: That's tough timing. speaker-2: They had to be they had to basically like set us down and be like, Yeah, there's obviously a real good chance you're gonna be deploying somewhere when you get to your units. And it was like, Yep. Wow. But I know, man. speaker-0: I was saying, thank you for your service. speaker-2: man, thanks. speaker-1: Absolutely. Yeah, we're we we always appreciate you. And for anyone who doesn't know, Luddy is truly a part of the family, not just the La Familia pick and pull. He's been at family parties for years now. So you're always welcome in our in our camp, Luddy, and we are so happy that you won the money, man. This is like a pleasure for us to have you on the pod as a first weaker and hopefully many more to come, man. If you jump back in, then we'll be happy to give you another G, all right? speaker-2: Absolutely, man. speaker-0: Appreciate you a rocking with us, Luddy. Yeah. Have a good one, brother. speaker-2: Thank guys for having me. Thanks. speaker-1: again, man. Have a great night, all right? speaker-2: Appreciate it. You you two guys. speaker-1: is speaker-0: Larry Larry. speaker-1: Bloody's a good egg, man. speaker-0: He has a good leg. Hey, let's let's run through these week one highlights because there's a lot that went down and it just it's hard not to to discuss it. yeah, a little rapid fire. See you know, repeat of the Super Bowl. Figured revenge, Super Bowl revenge. and like we said, Sam Darnold goes down and next thing you know, it's a ball game. And You would feel like the revenge spot you automatically pick the Patriots. in hindsight I was mad with my Seattle pick. and they covered by a hook thirteen to ten with a three and a half point spread. Anything to add there? speaker-1: Yeah, no, I mean that was a that was a great game to start us off, right? And like like you said, I think week one, I I kinda went all dogs. Like just because I know that like this is the most healthy all teams are gonna be. So like why not take advantage of this time where all their like motivation's up there, people still have hope. and I felt like obviously the Patriots, Seahawks, like you're gonna get up for this game regardless of where it is. So yeah, I think it was a great game. And then that last pick by May, man, I'm not gonna lie, I'm a Jets fan, so Clearly I was a little happy to see see them go down. Sorry, Letty, you're gonna see this happen. speaker-0: So San Francisco 49ers versus Los Angeles Rams in Australia. Dude, the time zone missing people up. The Rams not planning adequately. They said that they had they sent people over there and they had it all figured out, but 48 hours before a game is just not smart, man. Whoever's been on the plane for more than six hours knows that's not smart. speaker-1: I just like I'm confused on why McVeigh would do that. I just feel like he's a really smart coach and that's just not like him. So I don't know. I'm I'm confused at that one. speaker-0: That was the reason why. And obviously Miles Miles Garrett definitely was impacted. speaker-1: Totally, totally. Him getting hurt. But yeah, I mean forty nineers come out with a bang. So then we got a real big matchup to start off the Sundays, which was Chicago Bears versus the Carolina Panthers. Fifty nine points. I mean, honestly, that's insane. Number one is No, no, go ahead. speaker-0: They said that that's gonna be their worst game. Like I know that's that's confidence speaking, but I feel like there's some backing there with Ben Johnson. I mean, Leonta gave us the script. He told us. speaker-1: He really did. This guy does not play. I mean, if it obviously it's true. This guy eats, sleeps, and drinks if speaker-0: Breeves football. It shows, man. It shows. I think that the Carolina Panthers aren't that bad. People are gonna overreact and that's gonna be a good pick. I think the one speaker-1: One thing I do say about this though is like the Bears D may be a little suspect because they gave up thirty-seven points. It's not like the Panthers got like, you know, they scored like what twenty, twenty-four. Dude, thirty-seven points is nothing to sniff at. speaker-0: Thought about this. I think that the Bears are gonna be just fine for a season, maybe another season, and then these these offenses are gonna start to catch up and they're gonna start to play this type of style. It's kinda like when people were shooting the three point the Warriors were shooting the three pointers early on, and they had that huge advantage, and then everyone started shooting the stretch, and everyone on the court has to be able to shoot threes. they had that formula picked out where like we're just gonna outscore people. We don't care how bad our defense is. So Let's see. Let's see. I I'm thinking that that it kinda happened last season too, but this season it's like the explosion of it. Whereas we week one, let's not overreact. But I think that's that's my thought process. speaker-1: There. Yeah, yeah, I'm with you. Nothing really to cover in the Cincinnati Bengals Tampa Bay game. I think that that was a close game. Bengals really had pretty much the entire time and then the Buccaneers came back at the end. you always wonder when supplier gets that contract, if they just like dip down just a little, you know, like they finally got a little comfortable. They're like, you know what, I'm good, kind of thing. I mean you don't really think about that when you think of Baker, but I don't know. It it's kind of hard not to think about that. speaker-0: Yeah, I think it's a human component thing. I don't think it's the Baker thing, you know. Like I think Baker after watching quarterback, I'm just like this dude is just I I wanna I wanna buy his jersey, I wanna hang out with him. He's a speaker-1: Totally. He's a dog. He's a dog. how about this next one? We got Lions Saints 31 to 30. Now, mind you, for the road no, this was my survivor pick. So you can imagine how much I was sweating at a bat at what where were we at? We're at a baptism dinner or lunch or whatever, and I'm like looking at my phone, Romeo, he is such a cute boy, man. speaker-0: Yeah, cutie. speaker-1: Ugh. But yeah, so Detroit blew a twenty-one to zero third quarter lead before prevailing in overtime when the Saints failed to go to to basically execute on a go ahead two point conversion, which is ballsy by them. because I well, actually, no, it's not really that ballsy, right? Because if it's overtime, so at that point they both had a chance, and I think it would have ended with a tie. So you kind of have to go for it. Not so. speaker-0: That's right. speaker-1: Yeah, I think I think they changed the rules, so I think that that's the case. speaker-0: Dude, yeah, I mean that was a division game to me. And the first week, I feel like you gotta go with the spread on that one. That was just my thought process. So Buffalo Bills versus Houston Texans. Josh Allen has never won in Houston. speaker-1: Point. speaker-0: If you yeah, and if you ever recall, Houston Texans, like they that last game that they played, they beat up on Josh Allen last season. Like that was that was brutal. That defense was insane. So that's I had the Bills. And I switched it to the Texans and obviously it was a close game, a little back and forth. speaker-1: Yep. nothing really to cover with the Ravens, Ravens forty-one, Colts twenty-three. Then you got the Jags thirty-four, Browns ten. I mean, I guess really nothing surprising there, but my story there is the Sean Watson. I think he's done. I think we could safely say this guy is done, and they really need to bring in Shador at this point. Browns need to really just bite the bullet at this point and say, Hey, we know we gave you a really large contract, you're gonna be get paid it, but it is what it is. Mistakes happen, let's move on. The sooner they do that, the sooner they'll figure out how to get out of this mess. Okay. speaker-0: A E T S Jets Jets. speaker-1: Jets. Woo! Yo, that was speaker-0: I must win. speaker-1: my God. Everyone was like, that's not a must win. You clearly are not a Jets fan and you clearly don't know what has been going on the past X amount of years. That game I don't care if we were playing the Tennessee Titans, like we needed that. And that was really, really huge, and I thought everyone executed well. the one thing that really pissed me off though was the the halftime execution. We should have gotten if I mean, we could have gotten a touchdown for sure, but like we couldn't even get a kick on that. But then he needs to clean that up. And I think he knows that. But overall, morale is up. That's all I gotta say, baby. And we got Green Bay next week at home, wideout. Tish is going to it. Shout out to Tish. I know we were gonna go. We just couldn't figure out the planning and logistics. but I'm hyped, man. I I I'm I'm modestly hyped. Let me let me take it back. Okay. Like I'm I'm thinking that there could be something here. I'll tell you what, if we beat Green Bay, New York, I'm telling you the fan base is gonna go absolute bananas. And maybe the Knicks little flare as a little sprinkle on us, maybe. speaker-0: I'll tell you this much. The Jets hadn't won week one since twenty fifteen, brother. Over a decade. Ridiculous. Over decade. And and they did against their former coach Sala. So it was a little sweet there. Steelers versus Falcons, man. This was this Aaron Rodgers' last start ever. speaker-1: And there's he's he's clearly going off in terms of like off the field, like he just doesn't really care. I think he's starting to feel the retirement piece, so he's just like, I'm gonna do it my way, and that's the only way that's gonna happen. So I think if you actually look at the tape, he looks old, and I don't think they're gonna have that good of a year, to be honest. I think a there was a lot of other people on that team and other factors that did well, like TJ Watt, who joined Julius Peppers as the only player in NFL history to record 100 plus career sacks and ten plus career interceptions. So they're the only players, him and Julius Peppers, which is an insane stat. TJ Wada's first ballot Hall of Famer, no doubt. speaker-0: And our next game, soft spot for our Packer fans. Shout out to Tisha Papa Tisha speaker-1: Dude, he was pissed. speaker-0: RJ. Yeah, man. They scored twenty nine unanswered points, okay? I mean that speaker-1: That's yeah. speaker-0: after trailing twenty one to ten in the third quarter. he Tisha had a good point. I mean, anytime you have these penalties, you know, in funky positions, it starts to be a little weird. This is a rivalry game. I felt like they had no business being the Packers. they were at home, but they also had their starting quarterback go down. Yeah. speaker-1: Kyler Murray, man. I think that's sad. Honestly, dude. I I really was pulling for him on this one. I just want to see him do well. I think he has the talent, but I there's always something with him, you know. dude. He's really tiny. speaker-2: Ha ha ha ha. speaker-1: I guess we'll see what happens there. But Wentz, I could promise you, is not the answer. And this week too. I don't know. Here's a little plug for everyone. Go against them. That's all I gotta say. speaker-0: Vegas, Miami. This is the the toilet bowl game of the week? Yep. speaker-1: Yep. Yep. Well they're speaker-0: Not much to talk about. Cardinals versus Chargers, the upset of the week, the survivor pick killer. speaker-1: Something to talk about. Dude, so b l literally almost forty people in Molly's pool got X. speaker-0: I love it. I love it. Take him out. But that's crazy to win outright at a thir as a thirteen point dog. I think it's the biggest like since in opening week or something like that with a spread like that to be to actually win. Biggest dog to win like that. Yeah. man, Chargers, you know, Justin Herbert, you starting to question him a little bit, right? speaker-1: The year. This is the year where I think this is it. Like it's either he has it or he doesn't. And I mean obviously it's week one. Let's not jump to conclusions here, but I don't know, man. It's it's not looking good. And then there's all the like the side stories of him just getting engaged. And I don't know if you saw the videos, but he's like goo goo gaga over this girl. Like it's it's bad. Real bad. speaker-0: That's saying not to be Google Gaga obviously. speaker-1: Yes, I should preference that. speaker-0: Yeah. But we need you focused during the season, my brother. speaker-1: Totally, totally. They need to figure that one out, for sure. speaker-0: Right. Eagles versus commanders versus Andrew Stalling's commanders. They act like he they gave gave him a chance. But the Eagles at home, that's a tough one. That's a tough one on opening day. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah, that was that was tough. I mean, look, I think the Eagles pretty much had it the entire game and then I think Washington was coming back and they only lost by two. look, the Washington I think Washington ha is fully healthy at this point. So they should be decent this year. I think the Eagles have just been there, done that kind of thing. They're seasoned or org and they know what they're doing. So it's a divisional game. So that you know at home they have to they have to pull that out. speaker-0: They seem like a team that it's gonna go up and then just like clock management to win the game and th that's a that's a backdoor cover every time, so pretty you may wanna think about that when you're picking your picks this season. the Gemen versus the Cowboys. A division rival. Shout out to Horny Bob, my goodness. speaker-1: Literally the second like they were they started raising up that that lead, he texted us, he goes, Superbow. speaker-0: My boy Alex Rough, Giants fan. He loved it. He loved it as well, man. I mean honestly it was speaker-1: Electric. speaker-0: It was electric. Harbor's f first game, like man, like I just you know what, everyone's really on Dallas. Like, watch out for Dallas, watch out for Dallas, all the Cappers and everything. I'm like, I don't know, man. I I like the Giants here. speaker-1: mean look I I I really don't think we need speaker-0: Milky again. speaker-1: you shouldn't underestimate I guess Dallas just because on paper like literally that offense is unreal but they looked not good in that first game and honestly may look call maybe it's the first week New York power on September eleventh weekend and all of that. Like that is a real thing for anyone who's like thinking that that's not the case. It is very much the case. It happened the same thing with the Jets What two years ago now, I think. opening game against Buffalo. We won on the on a kick on a punt return. Unbelievable. That was when Rogers went down, probably three years ago now. I've never been so up and so down on the game. That was incredible. But you could you could definitely feel the energy and you know the Giants have full squad and this next game is gonna be interesting for them in week two. We'll get into that later. But this is the first time the Giants and Jets in week one have won. Since two thousand nine. Feels good to be a New Yorker. Monday night. Chiefs. Broncos. Like I said earlier, man, they were rockin'. I mean, really rockin'. they look good, man. I I think this guy's fully, you know, he's pretty much fully back. He's wearing the brace, Mahomes, but he rushed for was it two tutties? Or maybe one tutty? Kenneth Walker's looking like an animal. I don't know. speaker-0: He was fantastic. speaker-1: He's just so good. Like you can tell he is like you know when people say the game slows down for them when they've like mastered it? Yeah, literally you can see it in his game. Like he is like pause speaker-0: Simple. speaker-1: dude, he they he gets the ball and he's like pausing behind like his like his blockers and he's like, All right, where's the gap? Where's the gap? Where's the gap? Boom and he like pops it out. He's he's really good. He is like a legit Super Bowl V P for a reason. So speaker-0: You bring a healthy Patty Mahomes, even though he had the the brace on his knee last night, he looked great. yeah. Andy speaker-1: Yeah, and then fantastic. speaker-0: Reid, man, just a fantastic coach. Nine and one on Monday night football as a coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Yep. speaker-1: And sh and Sean Payton has a really bad record on week one. I'm looking up the the stat that I had on him, and it is two and six in week one since twenty nineteen. He's tied for the second worst record in AFC in that spam. speaker-0: Very surprising. Maybe he just works with a lot of data from the season, but he's a another phenomenal coach, you know. maybe he's maybe that's just his limitation there. Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah. One last cool stat just to wrap up this segment is the Giants, Jets, Raiders, and Cardinals had a plus forty seven differential and never tailed in their games. Okay, so think about those teams. Giants, Jets, Raiders, Cardinals. Now flip it and go to the Rams, Patriots, Chargers, and Packers, all pretty good teams. They were minus fifty-two differential and trailed The majority of their games. It's crazy. speaker-0: Mike. speaker-1: It's wild. It's it's insane. it's just a really cool week one that we've had, honestly. Like we did a really good job here, so I'm happy about that. speaker-0: I gotta take you to my favorite segment. I was de- speaker-1: It's close. Close. speaker-0: That's right. for those that don't know, that's a a shout out to our Pops. he's always coming this close with his bets. So we always we wanted to give him a segment here that we we honor him there with it. I said honor like Bobby's goner. Bobby's here, Bobby's alive and well. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We should we should preference that. So he's just that speaker-0: Yeah. But that's his that's his that's his thing. So my my pick was obviously the Seattle game. I just thought the three and a half, loss on the hook there, the interception by Drake May. just I I thought we can get a pick six at some at one point or something, but I didn't account for Kenneth Walker's the third's impact, man. Yeah. speaker-1: He he is he's unreal. My I was this close moment of the week was the Saints. so not necessarily the actual spread there. I actually had the Saints. A little fun fact there on that. But yeah, I mean like I said before, Detroit blew a 21 lead in the third quarter before prevailing in overtime. So like insane. I think the Saints actually thought that they were about to pull that out. And to be honest, like these are the games where Your s e your season starts on a roll or it's gonna be a rough going. And honestly, I feel like that might turn it over to the rough going for the Saints. So we will see. We will see. okay. Well, next segment we have is the Kamish locks and Hail Mary. you wanna give us a little recap of week one for your picks, Pete? speaker-0: Yes, sir. So my luck of the week was Gee Man, plus two and a half at home with John Harbor as their new coach. speaker-1: Yeah, that was a lock. Mommy. Lock. speaker-0: Come December 11th. I people think in hindsight, but that that's what I like. That's the only one I put the money on. Long shot of the week was the Cardinals plus ten and a half, man. I had them. I just like I just I like those big spreads in week one, you know. A lot of people were talking about they don't tack tackle at practice and stuff like that. So those first few games the people are just not tackling really well, which is kind of odd to me. They've been doing it for years, like you don't just forget how to tackle. But it's at the professional level, it's moving a lot faster. I get it. I'll take the plus ten and a half from the cards. speaker-1: New coach too, LaFour. He's he's a beast man. I think he's he's had a chip on his shoulder for a little while now. So he's starting to get, you know, he has his opportunity here and he really wants to take advantage of it. So my lock of the week was the Bears minus two and a half versus the Panthers. I just I I really do feel it, man, after all that we've heard, the you know, the little inside scoop that we've had on Ben Johnson and obviously what we saw last year. I I mean they didn't get worse, that's for sure, in terms of acquisitions as well. Like they're They're a solid team. They they are a force to be reckoned with. So we'll see where that goes. my long shot was Cleveland plus seven and a half, and clearly that was a bad long shot. I mean, to me, it was week one. Again, everyone's healthy. obviously the world was on the jags. So my thought process is let me, you know, go the opposite way. Let's see if they can at at least make it close. but clearly Deshaun Walton is not the answer and I don't know if Shador is the answer, but I think that they need to give him more of a chance. And honestly, the Jags start off right where they left off. These guys, they had a great year last year. Also, shout out to Dubai. Shout out to the defensive coordinator for the Jags. He was our gym coach. yes. He was Bosco football, Ruckers football. And he's he's been a journeyman. At this point. He's been all over the league. So this is his big opportunity as a defensive coordinator and clearly starting off on a good note. Even last year, I think he was he started last year. So shout out. Shout out to the Capanelli brothers. hit me. speaker-0: Lock of the week. Bears, baby. I'm going back to the Bears. the Bears beat the Bears last week, but you that was your lock. I'm gonna I'm gonna continue the Bears momentum here. We I really think they're still they're not accounting for what Ben Johnson is doing there. I think the Vikings usually what happens is the it the quarterback gets injured and the team rallies in that specific game, but the next game following is usually a let down by the team. So they got some tape on the quarterback that's gonna play and it's just I think the Bears are gonna do their thing. They're at home as well. Yeah. And that place is gonna be rocking. speaker-1: my god. speaker-0: And I don't know, this is one of the last few seasons there in Chicago, so my gosh, it's just gonna be insane. And then my long shot, buckle up. speaker-1: Stra strap it up. speaker-0: Get the nitro on. King Deca. Not nitro. What's one that gets over? 'Cause nitro was only on the speaker-1: Communicate. speaker-0: King de Kai, yeah, King Decaye. Which speaker-1: R.I.P. by the way. speaker-0: R. I. P. King de Ka. Buckle up. 'Cause we are going with the Miami Dolphins against the San Francisco forty niners. Plus speaker-1: God. speaker-0: thirteen and a half. So you got a big ass spread. speaker-1: Don't follow this advice, folks. speaker-0: And San Francisco just came back all the way from Australia. speaker-1: Huh? Okay, I'll give you that. speaker-0: All they have to do is cover the thirteen and a half. They are going across the country. I get it. I get it. But still. Just have a little speaker-1: Interesting one, dude. I think that they are tanking hard. speaker-0: I do I think so too. speaker-1: Dude, they picked up our they picked up our third string quarterback, Brady Cook. Just put that into perspective for a second. Like they were like, Yeah, this this is definitely gonna get us the number one pick. speaker-0: I just if the if there's one game maybe that they just like come out it's still early in the l season they try to just f just fall within the number. I'm not saying they're gonna win. Yeah. But maybe they get little tired. Yep. A little left out after that big win. speaker-1: I mean look, thirteen points in the NFL is is a lot, right? So so we will see. My lock of the week is the Bucks. Minus eight and a half. First the Browns. I think the Browns are really bad, folks. I don't think this is a fluke. And the Bucks just lost and I feel like there's gonna be a chip on the shoulder. Their home. I just feel like this is one of those where they know that they can't go down O two. I don't care if it's high. I think that's To scare off a lot of people off the line. Let's just put it that way. So I got Bucks minus eight and a half at lock. And then my long shot, which honestly, I can't believe this number. It's Giants plus seven and a half versus the Rams. Okay. I think everyone thinks that the Rams are going to bounce back. This is a Monday night game, if I'm not mistaken. Prime time. Seven and a half dogs. Prime time. After the performance that they just put up. Yes, you can argue that people are going to be like, the Giants look good. I don't know. They maybe they do something here. The Rams have a couple injuries on their side too. Let's not forget that. speaker-0: And they just came from Australia, the same logic I was talking about. speaker-1: That's right. That's right. So I don't know. To me, I think seven and a half is way too much. I think they're kind of disrespecting the Giants. Obviously, only week one. We'll see where we go from there, though. All right. Well season record there. Two and for Commish Poppy. One and one for Kamish Bones. I guess we'll see where we go from there. speaker-0: Right? Don't you write us out. speaker-1: We ride it. We ridden. Alright, that's gonna do it, folks, for episode one of season two of Fourth and the Bunia Podcast. Luddy, congratulations, buddy. You are our first weekly winner. Enjoy the clean $1,000. And you know, throw a little tip to your boys every once in a while. I'm Kamish Bones, that's Kamish Poppy. We're headed to the locker room. Remember, it's not just football here, it's La Familia. Until next week, folks. Deuces!
