- 0:02Speaker 1: Minnesota basketball fans, Welcome back to the Living and Loserville podcast,
- 0:07Speaker 1: where we cover the Timberwolves slash Gophers, and man, do
- 0:12Speaker 1: we have some things to talk about. Obviously, the Gophers
- 0:16Speaker 1: are struggling right now again losing games they shouldn't, so
- 0:21Speaker 1: we will end with a little bit of that talk.
- 0:23Speaker 1: But the Timberwolves coming off a crazy, crazy game, just
- 0:28Speaker 1: a phenomenal comeback. Since the break, they've had three games.
- 0:34Speaker 1: They are one and two in those games, so obviously
- 0:37Speaker 1: it's not all positive. And you know, we can't forget
- 0:42Speaker 1: that we did get down by lots of points and
- 0:48Speaker 1: it's been a trend early in games lately anyway of
- 0:52Speaker 1: getting down pretty big. I mean, that Houston first quarter
- 0:56Speaker 1: was ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. So it's kind of the great, good,
- 1:02Speaker 1: bad and ugly type deal. But nothing can really take
- 1:06Speaker 1: you away from what happened, you know, Monday night, and
- 1:11Speaker 1: that I mean to go, what was it, sixteen to
- 1:14Speaker 1: zero down the stretch of that game to tie it.
- 1:18Speaker 1: McDaniels had an end one forced overtime and came in
- 1:22Speaker 1: and that's that's another crazy thing. Ant wasn't on the
- 1:25Speaker 1: floor for most of it. Now, he did come in
- 1:27Speaker 1: and got to get him credit for that big block.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I think he's better on the defensive side and clutch
- 1:34Speaker 1: moments at the end of the game than he is offense,
- 1:36Speaker 1: right because we've seen him do this a couple of
- 1:39Speaker 1: times now. But yeah, we're gonna break it all down
- 1:41Speaker 1: the last couple of games and just talk more even
- 1:45Speaker 1: about McDaniels and Navs strong play, you know, and overall
- 1:52Speaker 1: is still playing pretty damn great. His defense though at
- 1:55Speaker 1: times is still like slippery. You know. We did get
- 2:01Speaker 1: a little surprise out of the break with Rudy and
- 2:04Speaker 1: his back spasms. It does sound like Randall and de
- 2:08Speaker 1: Vincenzo are gonna return soon. More on the on the
- 2:12Speaker 1: youth movement as well, with Shannon Clark, rob even Guarza
- 2:16Speaker 1: to an extent he's pitching in. Alexander Walker has been
- 2:20Speaker 1: on a heater. It'll be interesting to see, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 1: since we've been going small lately, you know, if Finch
- 2:28Speaker 1: will use that. And then of course, so we'll start
- 2:33Speaker 1: with recap kind of talking it through, and then of
- 2:35Speaker 1: course we'll look at the next handful of games. We
- 2:38Speaker 1: do have the Lakers coming up at Lakers at Utah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: at Phoenix Home Philly at Charlotte. So in those five games,
- 2:48Speaker 1: just kind of thinking hmm, what we're what will the
- 2:51Speaker 1: record be? And then some other KG items as well.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Anytime I can talk about KG, I'm gonna love it. No.
- 3:02Speaker 1: If this is your first time listening to the Living

- 4:06Speaker 1: over one hundred and sixty channels one nine ninety nine
- 4:11Speaker 1: per month. Okay, so just kind of talking through you know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: some of these recent games. Uh, starting with Rudy, Like
- 4:23Speaker 1: I said, I guess, you know, he had had some backspasms.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I guess he was practicing hard. They were saying in
- 4:33Speaker 1: the last practice he kind of pulled up a little
- 4:36Speaker 1: lane from it. That's an old term. But no, you
- 4:43Speaker 1: know he missed was it? I think it was only
- 4:45Speaker 1: one that Okay, see game if I remember correctly, maybe
- 4:48Speaker 1: two right before the break. And we thought, okay, he'll
- 4:52Speaker 1: have enough time, he'll be back. But it sounds like,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you know, he he tweaked it again. So hopefully he's
- 4:59Speaker 1: back somewhat soon. I don't see why he wouldn't be,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you know, back in a decent amount of time. Anyway,
- 5:08Speaker 1: It's kind of weird. Conley picked up two early falls.
- 5:13Speaker 1: One was on a three pointer, and he picked up
- 5:17Speaker 1: a third fall really early in the second quarter too.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It was kind of a slow start. Timberwolves were up
- 5:26Speaker 1: like twelve eleven, you know, Houston started to get hot.
- 5:30Speaker 1: They pushed it to twenty three to sixteen, and gets
- 5:35Speaker 1: a gets another tech. And it's not that you could
- 5:42Speaker 1: say he got fouled, right, but he now is once
- 5:48Speaker 1: again leading the league. Or was he second last year,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I can't remember, but hees thirteen. And just like last year,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you got to really make the texts like worth it
- 6:04Speaker 1: for certain times. And I know that's easy to say
- 6:07Speaker 1: something on the sidelines and without the emotion. A lot
- 6:10Speaker 1: of us get emotional just watching the game and passion
- 6:13Speaker 1: and all that and whatever. Poor sport, right, any of
- 6:17Speaker 1: all that. So a lot of us would actually be
- 6:19Speaker 1: doing this and maybe even worse, but we're not there.
- 6:23Speaker 1: So my point is, he can't miss a game off
- 6:26Speaker 1: of this, right, And it just it would suck when
- 6:32Speaker 1: we're trying to position ourselves out of the plan not
- 6:35Speaker 1: to not to have them in a game just randomly.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Now you know, maybe we end up winning that game,
- 6:40Speaker 1: maybe we play a really bad team who's trying to
- 6:44Speaker 1: lose down the stretch. Who knows, but it's just the
- 6:46Speaker 1: point of being up against it is kind of weak.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Then Houston just took off, you know, with three minutes left,
- 6:54Speaker 1: thirty seven to twenty six, and it was forty eight
- 6:57Speaker 1: to thirty eight. Now Aunt did have fifteen points, I'll
- 7:00Speaker 1: give him that, but you know, thirty eight points is
- 7:05Speaker 1: a really good amount of scoring, right, But to give
- 7:07Speaker 1: up forty eight, it's just it's ridiculous. There's no excuse
- 7:11Speaker 1: for it. And you could say hot shooting and that's fair,
- 7:16Speaker 1: but we had thirty eight as well. We were shooting
- 7:19Speaker 1: pretty good as well, so it can't be just that. Now.
- 7:25Speaker 1: They did in the second quarter get off to a
- 7:27Speaker 1: nice start. I think they hit three or four field goals,
- 7:29Speaker 1: maybe four or five, something like that, and that's when
- 7:34Speaker 1: Conley not long after did get his third fall. I
- 7:37Speaker 1: think he was trying to pull out the chair, if
- 7:39Speaker 1: I remember correctly. So we got into it pretty quick
- 7:43Speaker 1: with a nine to two run. It's fifty to forty seven.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Nas is going off by this time. He's six of
- 7:50Speaker 1: eight from the field, fourteen points dealing him had a
- 7:54Speaker 1: nasty dunk in indo the steel, and you know, we
- 7:57Speaker 1: really cut the lead. We're only down by one. Ant
- 7:59Speaker 1: had two twenty five at half. Alexander Walker was going
- 8:05Speaker 1: off as well. He was three for three from from three.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Nas unfortunately did pick up some quick falls. Two quick
- 8:15Speaker 1: falls is fourth. With seven months minutes left of the third,
- 8:18Speaker 1: Luca checked in and Houston got fairly hot. They went
- 8:24Speaker 1: on a stretch where they were five of five, but
- 8:26Speaker 1: we we kept, you know, we kept with them. Garza
- 8:32Speaker 1: had a nice put back, forcing Houston to call the
- 8:35Speaker 1: time out, and the tim Wolves actually took the lead
- 8:37Speaker 1: with three three thirty seven left and had in one
- 8:42Speaker 1: had thirty two points in a nice little step back jumper,
- 8:46Speaker 1: but Houston responded thirteen to five. Run. Now they're up
- 8:52Speaker 1: ninety eight ninety one with under a minute and the
- 8:54Speaker 1: third that Aaron Hall. They had like eight straight points
- 9:00Speaker 1: and Nas did pick up his fifth fall. It was
- 9:02Speaker 1: kind of late. I think there was contact, but it
- 9:05Speaker 1: was kind of a late one. And you know, the
- 9:10Speaker 1: Timbroves go really small. They've been small without Rudy and whatnot,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but they're really small. McDaniels is definitely playing really well.
- 9:18Speaker 1: At that point in the fourth quarter. He had nineteen points.
- 9:22Speaker 1: It's one O five, one oh three, seventy four seven
- 9:26Speaker 1: forty five left. At that point. The Wolfs are twenty
- 9:29Speaker 1: two and eight advantage on points over turnovers, and we
- 9:34Speaker 1: just have bad shot selection, like really bad shot selection,
- 9:41Speaker 1: but we're still lingering in the game. One O five,
- 9:43Speaker 1: one O three, one eight, one O five. You know, McDaniels,
- 9:48Speaker 1: this is probably The only thing you can dump on
- 9:52Speaker 1: them right now still is is the three point shooting.
- 9:55Speaker 1: He was one of six and most of them are
- 9:58Speaker 1: wide open, and you know, and he you know, he
- 10:08Speaker 1: filled the box out, didn't really even try on a play,
- 10:12Speaker 1: had a turnover. There was some contact on the play,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but it just I don't know, man, there was a
- 10:20Speaker 1: double fall on him and sung Gun. But you know,
- 10:28Speaker 1: still we're we're not that far off of it, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: comes down. Now it's clutch time, right misses a tough jumper,
- 10:36Speaker 1: McDaniel's misses the three shangun, has this crazy bank shot
- 10:43Speaker 1: and has a crossover that he missed. I believe there
- 10:47Speaker 1: was a turnover as well, and you know, it's one
- 10:50Speaker 1: seventeen one, ten forty five seconds left. Green hits both
- 10:54Speaker 1: of his free throws, and you know, it's another clutch game,
- 11:01Speaker 1: you know, down down again. We lost another one. So
- 11:08Speaker 1: even with some improved offense and some of the youth
- 11:13Speaker 1: movement and some of the things we've really figured out
- 11:19Speaker 1: with the injuries, especially obviously with Rando and Dante, it's
- 11:25Speaker 1: gonna be a I think it's a positive thing moving forward,
- 11:31Speaker 1: but clearly, well clearly we're not the same team. As
- 11:34Speaker 1: we were last year, not just you know, who's on
- 11:37Speaker 1: the team, but just how we play in consistency and
- 11:40Speaker 1: all that. Like I said, there has been an uptick
- 11:43Speaker 1: and offense, no doubt, but you know it kind of
- 11:47Speaker 1: I don't know, It's just one of those things, man.
- 11:52Speaker 1: So yeah, it'll be interesting to see because, as we
- 11:55Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, Dante and Randall really settling in. So if
- 11:59Speaker 1: we can kind of put this all together, we got
- 12:04Speaker 1: a chance to make a run. So going to that
- 12:07Speaker 1: Oka see game one, Timberwves started out decently. Actually, Clark
- 12:14Speaker 1: was definitely doing his thing just in general. But before
- 12:20Speaker 1: you know it, it's twenty five to fifteen to four
- 12:22Speaker 1: minutes left, okay, sees ended. I think it was thirty
- 12:27Speaker 1: five to twenty three in the first quarter, So once
- 12:28Speaker 1: again a really bad start, and it got worse. You know,
- 12:32Speaker 1: Ant falled a shooter. At the end of the quarter.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I think they were thirteen to eighteen, shooting seventy two percent. Okay, see,
- 12:41Speaker 1: so another bad start that even got worse forty seven
- 12:46Speaker 1: to twenty eight with under nine minutes left, and it
- 12:49Speaker 1: felt like Nas is like the only one playing. Now.
- 12:52Speaker 1: The Timberwolves did make a series of run it runs.
- 12:55Speaker 1: It started at like a seven zero that got extended
- 12:57Speaker 1: to twelve to two in nineteen and two, and we
- 13:01Speaker 1: got it all the way back to a two point game,
- 13:05Speaker 1: fifty four to fifty two. Clark had like a nice
- 13:08Speaker 1: little five point spurred at the end, and the Wolves,
- 13:14Speaker 1: I think we're one of twelve from three before hitting
- 13:17Speaker 1: four in a row. So sixty three sixty one. You know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: it was pretty impressive to cut that lead. But once
- 13:26Speaker 1: again though, another game where we didn't start right away.
- 13:31Speaker 1: We weren't playing right away, you know, And we can't
- 13:35Speaker 1: keep doing that because, like I said, I'm gonna give
- 13:38Speaker 1: him a ton of credit for coming back in this
- 13:40Speaker 1: game and obviously twenty five points, but we can't lose
- 13:43Speaker 1: sight as all as I'm saying it. And you know,
- 13:46Speaker 1: in the third quarter, Clark has like four steals, He's
- 13:50Speaker 1: six of six with like fourteen points, just doing his thing,
- 13:54Speaker 1: and hits a three at seventy nine seventy three under
- 13:56Speaker 1: eight minutes in the third. But then again and gets
- 14:03Speaker 1: another tech and he wasn't getting back on defense. Once again,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you could say there was contact on it, I get it,
- 14:11Speaker 1: but get back on defense. There's so many whistles in
- 14:15Speaker 1: dead time in the NBA, in basketball in general, find
- 14:20Speaker 1: the time to go over there, and then you know,
- 14:23Speaker 1: let the ref have it to an extent obviously that
- 14:27Speaker 1: that's a problem, like don't don't do the dot. Get
- 14:31Speaker 1: back on defense. And once again, you know, we saw
- 14:34Speaker 1: less and less of that in the last two years
- 14:38Speaker 1: or something from Cat. But if we're gonna be critical
- 14:43Speaker 1: of Cat for all those years when he did it,
- 14:46Speaker 1: because I would never deny he didn't do that. He
- 14:48Speaker 1: got a little he got better at it, but still
- 14:51Speaker 1: we can't have him doing it because it's ridiculous. And
- 14:56Speaker 1: but you know they're they're doing good that they have
- 14:58Speaker 1: a lead six fifty left. In the third, they called
- 15:01Speaker 1: there's a timeout. Eighty two seventy eight. Clark did hit
- 15:05Speaker 1: his head on the court. I guess it was more
- 15:07Speaker 1: of a neck thing than a head injury. Luckily, SGA
- 15:12Speaker 1: is going off. You know, he's got twenty five points.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And then in the third the turnovers started piling up,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and I hate to say it, but you know, he
- 15:22Speaker 1: had this ISO turnover that was silly, and then he
- 15:26Speaker 1: had some sloppy defense where he didn't go out and
- 15:28Speaker 1: cover a three point shooter. It was clearly his guy,
- 15:32Speaker 1: and he just lack of days ago. So there was
- 15:35Speaker 1: a point of ten possessions. Five out of those ten
- 15:38Speaker 1: ended in turnovers. We had six in the third quarter,
- 15:41Speaker 1: so that any kind of lead we had got shrunk
- 15:46Speaker 1: just based on that. And okay See took over the lead,
- 15:51Speaker 1: and they kind of the teams traded back and forth
- 15:53Speaker 1: the lead until okay See said, now we're gonna take
- 15:57Speaker 1: it over one oh three ninety six to close the
- 16:02Speaker 1: quarter and the third quarter. But you know, Alexander Walker
- 16:08Speaker 1: back to back threes, it's tied. You know, Nah literally
- 16:13Speaker 1: has like an eight zero run by himself. The Timbrolves
- 16:16Speaker 1: take the lead one O seven, one O five. Now
- 16:20Speaker 1: hits another three up one ten, one oh five with
- 16:23Speaker 1: eight minutes left. You know, that's only a five point lead.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I'm not expecting them to, you know, get up by
- 16:28Speaker 1: eighteen or something like that. But you know, okay See
- 16:33Speaker 1: just couldn't find a bucket, couldn't buy one, couldn't least
- 16:37Speaker 1: one could put couldn't put a bucket on layaway. It
- 16:41Speaker 1: was bad. And then it turned around for him. Caruso
- 16:44Speaker 1: started out with back to back threes, took over the
- 16:47Speaker 1: lead one eleven ten I believe. So they had a
- 16:50Speaker 1: little six o run and okay see was in the
- 16:54Speaker 1: bonus really early as well. But they hit like five
- 16:57Speaker 1: threes I think it was like six of their last
- 17:00Speaker 1: eight with an eighteen to two run. Just smoked us,
- 17:03Speaker 1: you know, just took over the game and just never
- 17:07Speaker 1: looked back. So that that was tough, man, you know,
- 17:11Speaker 1: that was really tough. And once again it's a clutch
- 17:17Speaker 1: game that just is like, dude, what are we doing?
- 17:19Speaker 1: You know. Now, some of that was just them getting
- 17:22Speaker 1: crazy hot, I will say that, but some of that
- 17:25Speaker 1: comeback had to do what they could not buy a bucket,
- 17:29Speaker 1: So it works both ways. Now, like I said, we
- 17:37Speaker 1: actually started out okay, it was like eight eight in
- 17:40Speaker 1: the eight minute mark, but then it's like nineteen or thirteen,
- 17:44Speaker 1: ok see, under five minutes. Now McDaniels already had his
- 17:49Speaker 1: mid game, mid range game going. He had it working,
- 17:56Speaker 1: and you know, it looked like okay see was going
- 18:00Speaker 1: to start to take over that early. But the Timbrels,
- 18:04Speaker 1: to the credit, did have a twelve five run and
- 18:08Speaker 1: they were well within the range thirty two twenty eight
- 18:11Speaker 1: at the first quarter. No big deal. McDaniel's really doing
- 18:16Speaker 1: his thing there. I think someone said that it was
- 18:19Speaker 1: somewhere in the second quarter and he was the only
- 18:22Speaker 1: guy that had been the Frea though line, so he
- 18:26Speaker 1: was doing his thing. He had like nine points five
- 18:29Speaker 1: boards pretty quick think of the first quarter, and then
- 18:33Speaker 1: they just pressed on the gas man. Before you know it,
- 18:37Speaker 1: it was thirty seven thirty one, forty eight thirty five,
- 18:42Speaker 1: with like a little over five minutes left, twelve four
- 18:47Speaker 1: run to close. They were shooting fifty one p SGA
- 18:50Speaker 1: had twenty points. It's sixty four to forty five at half,
- 18:53Speaker 1: and you're like, man, here goes another lackadaisical start to
- 18:58Speaker 1: the first half. Now first quarter not as much, you know,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I mentioned that because they had a nice run to
- 19:04Speaker 1: close the first quarter. But it was just it just
- 19:07Speaker 1: you know, sorry, I had a lead, a little water.
- 19:13Speaker 1: It was just bad man, And you know, I forgot
- 19:17Speaker 1: to mention they didn't have Chet, and Chet had played
- 19:20Speaker 1: pretty good defense actually on ant and just in general
- 19:23Speaker 1: the game before, and that was kind of their missing
- 19:26Speaker 1: piece throughout the season, even though the record doesn't tell
- 19:29Speaker 1: you they're missing a piece. But he was affected effective
- 19:34Speaker 1: against us. Maybe he you know, felt some kind of
- 19:38Speaker 1: way going on the break when Aunt ducked on dunked
- 19:42Speaker 1: on him and he said, welcome home, Chet. But he
- 19:45Speaker 1: played really well in that game, but they didn't have
- 19:47Speaker 1: him playing on a back to back because he's fresh
- 19:49Speaker 1: off injury. So and then sometime in the third I
- 19:53Speaker 1: can't remember exactly, but Hardenstein had a bloody nose. I
- 19:58Speaker 1: don't know if it was broken or what it was
- 20:00Speaker 1: bleeding the Phairmounty. He never came back, So that really
- 20:03Speaker 1: helped us in this small lineup that we've been running
- 20:07Speaker 1: a whole lot. But still it's like seventy two to
- 20:10Speaker 1: fifty three. Dude was seven twenty nine left in that
- 20:13Speaker 1: third quarter. It was eighty to fifty five, in ninety
- 20:17Speaker 1: to sixty six with four minutes left, still up one
- 20:21Speaker 1: o two eighty end of the third, and I'm pretty
- 20:26Speaker 1: sure Finch said he was going to go like another
- 20:29Speaker 1: minute or two and then he was going to pull
- 20:31Speaker 1: the other two starters being uh Reid and mcdanels. I
- 20:34Speaker 1: believe so, because Ant had done his normal timeout or
- 20:41Speaker 1: you know, time off the floor and came back and
- 20:43Speaker 1: then he he went down. I guess he was having
- 20:46Speaker 1: a little issue with his leg, I believe, but it
- 20:51Speaker 1: still didn't feel like there was much hope. One eleven
- 20:54Speaker 1: ninety with the eight thirty seven left, and there was
- 21:02Speaker 1: a key on sg A that we oops, I'm just
- 21:09Speaker 1: noticing that. I think I left the window open. Oops.
- 21:13Speaker 1: There was a point where we started to really double
- 21:18Speaker 1: SGA and to have Nah and h McDaniels odd on
- 21:23Speaker 1: him that was really key. They had that two to
- 21:25Speaker 1: two one zone and they were trapping and you know,
- 21:31Speaker 1: basically get the ball out of your hand what they've
- 21:34Speaker 1: been doing, and a whole lot right, But even under
- 21:36Speaker 1: five minutes it's still a twelve point game, one seventeen
- 21:40Speaker 1: to one oh five. I'm still not thinking, oh yeah, dude,
- 21:44Speaker 1: we got this puppy in the bag, right. And that's
- 21:47Speaker 1: the thing about this, that's what makes this such a
- 21:51Speaker 1: great game. First of all, Ant's not in the game.
- 21:55Speaker 1: We obviously know we have, you know, plenty of starters out,
- 22:01Speaker 1: but Shannon I haven't mentioned him. I should have. He had.
- 22:03Speaker 1: He was having a great game. He was like seven
- 22:08Speaker 1: of nine, I think he's seven of ten. He closed
- 22:11Speaker 1: with seventeen points, ten boards. He's really played really well. Man.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Nah had a you know, like seventeen points. At that time,
- 22:21Speaker 1: Nas had a little spurt quick five point I think
- 22:24Speaker 1: it was like a little hook in the lane and
- 22:27Speaker 1: a three, and Rob had a nice layup, and you know,
- 22:32Speaker 1: it was one twenty one, one twelve with two minutes left,
- 22:35Speaker 1: with a minute left, it was one twenty one, one sixteen,
- 22:38Speaker 1: and you have Nas, Jaden, Nah, Rob and Shannon. That's
- 22:43Speaker 1: the closing lineup, and uh, you know, okay, see missing
- 22:48Speaker 1: some threes. It's one twenty one eighteen and McDaniel's driving
- 22:55Speaker 1: layup gets falled, hits the free throw. We're going to
- 22:58Speaker 1: overtime now. SG later a kind of a far layup.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I guess you could say airballeded off the off the
- 23:05Speaker 1: glass and Alexander Walker it would have been a weird,
- 23:11Speaker 1: awkward kind of floater jumper, but he almost hit one.
- 23:16Speaker 1: That would have been a crazy game winner, but no aunt.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Still in overtime, SGA started with a nice n one
- 23:28Speaker 1: mcdaniels's fall. He hit some free throws. I think he
- 23:31Speaker 1: was nine to nine from the free throw line, and
- 23:36Speaker 1: you know, we we we got our first leaders, one
- 23:38Speaker 1: twenty five to one twenty four first leads. I think
- 23:42Speaker 1: I wrote down since eight to six. I mean that
- 23:47Speaker 1: was crazy, but you know, it was like it didn't
- 23:53Speaker 1: it didn't just stop there. We still had We got
- 23:55Speaker 1: down the next you know, I think the next possession,
- 24:00Speaker 1: Nas hit some free throws. Like it was I don't know, man,
- 24:06Speaker 1: just all I just couldn't believe it was happening. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: was kind of numb while I'm watching it, just thinking
- 24:12Speaker 1: like this could really happen here, you know, and Ant
- 24:18Speaker 1: did end up coming back in the game and getting
- 24:21Speaker 1: a great block, you know, a block we definitely needed.
- 24:24Speaker 1: But yeah, Nas hits two free throws, takes the lead over.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Caruso takes the lead over again. So now we're down
- 24:30Speaker 1: by one with like forty something seconds left. Nas hits
- 24:34Speaker 1: two free throws. So the free throw games where up.
- 24:37Speaker 1: You know, free throw hits were really big. Alexander Walker
- 24:41Speaker 1: hits both of his free throws, and you know, it's
- 24:45Speaker 1: basically a rap they they completed it. I mean, it
- 24:50Speaker 1: was I still can't believe it kind of you know,
- 24:55Speaker 1: like I said, I don't want to harp too much
- 24:58Speaker 1: on getting down by that much, right, but to still
- 25:03Speaker 1: be just grinding what's phenomenal In McDaniel's twenty seven points
- 25:10Speaker 1: ten boards four assists, didn't shoot a three. He was
- 25:14Speaker 1: nine to nine, like I mentioned, from the free throw
- 25:17Speaker 1: line nine to sixteen. Now, nas didn't really shoot the
- 25:21Speaker 1: ball roll right. Twenty two points on twenty one shots
- 25:23Speaker 1: to a eight, but he did get the line and
- 25:26Speaker 1: he got you know, some key he scored in key moments.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Those free throws were clutched. Six of six. Conley only
- 25:35Speaker 1: played fourteen minutes. Didn't play bad, but just didn't play
- 25:38Speaker 1: a lot. Obviously. Clark was fairly solid, not necessarily points,
- 25:43Speaker 1: but just you know that defense he brings. Edwards only
- 25:46Speaker 1: had seventeen points. He did have eight assists the four
- 25:52Speaker 1: you know, his turnouts are starting to kind of pop
- 25:54Speaker 1: up a little bit, but he was He struggled. Seventeen points,
- 25:57Speaker 1: fifteen shots, six to ten from the free throw line.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Not ideal. One of six, didn't really play all that well.
- 26:04Speaker 1: But Alexander Walker twenty one, Shannon seventeen, Dillingham twelve and
- 26:10Speaker 1: four assists or five assist excuse me, I mean it
- 26:15Speaker 1: was just an all purpose, you know it was it was.
- 26:19Speaker 1: It was phenomenal to watch it. Like I said, I
- 26:21Speaker 1: still can't believe that they gotta done like that. That
- 26:27Speaker 1: was that was really impressive. And when you look, like
- 26:33Speaker 1: I said, no threes is one thing for McDaniels. But
- 26:36Speaker 1: he didn't even come near a three. Like when you
- 26:39Speaker 1: look at his shot chart from there, it's like one
- 26:43Speaker 1: on the elbow and then the rest are really close.
- 26:45Speaker 1: For the most part, they're one, two, three, four makes
- 26:51Speaker 1: right at the rim, right out of the circle, you know,
- 26:55Speaker 1: I mean, everything's inside the free throw line. One's on
- 26:58Speaker 1: the elbow, like I said it was. And that will
- 27:02Speaker 1: be the thing, you know, can he operate like that
- 27:08Speaker 1: with two non.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Shooting bigs, you know, will there'll be enough will Will
- 27:16Speaker 2: there be enough room for him to do what he's
- 27:18Speaker 2: been doing, And that's you know, sometimes he would settle
- 27:27Speaker 2: for stuff.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Sometimes they just put him in the corner, and a
- 27:30Speaker 1: lot of times the defense would just be like, hey, man,
- 27:33Speaker 1: just leave him out there. Who cares he's gonna miss?
- 27:35Speaker 1: You know. Now, he has spurts, especially in the playoffs,
- 27:38Speaker 1: where he will get hot from three and whatnot, but
- 27:41Speaker 1: he's just really you know, comfortable in the mid range
- 27:45Speaker 1: and driving to the hoop and and just getting fairly
- 27:51Speaker 1: close to the hoop and then pulling up you know.
- 27:56Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean I don't know, like having nas
- 28:00Speaker 1: or even last year right in the starting life with
- 28:02Speaker 1: Kat that that helps in general. But to have one
- 28:06Speaker 1: who you don't even want to take a three point
- 28:08Speaker 1: shot and then the other who's pretty mediocre to pour
- 28:13Speaker 1: really at three point shooting, and will that will he
- 28:19Speaker 1: be able to do that given the you know, like
- 28:24Speaker 1: the spacing you know, and just the room to actually
- 28:28Speaker 1: do it, you know, that is tough. So according to
- 28:35Speaker 1: al Horton the comeback Kids, Minnesota now has six fifteen
- 28:38Speaker 1: point comebacks this season. It's the most in the NBA
- 28:42Speaker 1: and over the last two we have last two seasons
- 28:46Speaker 1: we have twelve and sack the Clippers in Denver, all right,
- 28:51Speaker 1: by a sack it has twelve as well. The Clippers
- 28:54Speaker 1: have eleven, Denver has ten. So yeah, it's I mean,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll we'll see how that goes. But
- 29:06Speaker 1: like I said, we've gotten a lot out of, you know,
- 29:10Speaker 1: our backups, the youth movement. Like I keep saying, it's
- 29:15Speaker 1: it's really huge. Here's another from automatic Minnesota completed the
- 29:19Speaker 1: comeback NBA teams in the last twenty seasons were previously
- 29:23Speaker 1: one in nine and forty nine when trailing by at
- 29:27Speaker 1: least sixteen points or three forty five lap three forty
- 29:31Speaker 1: five or less lap before the last one. That one
- 29:36Speaker 1: the Kings versus Timberwolves January twenty seven to twenty twenty,
- 29:42Speaker 1: and that's the game, but we ended up losing, actually,
- 29:45Speaker 1: I believe, so that is kind of a crazy statut.
- 29:50Speaker 1: More from Horton. In the last twenty nine seasons of
- 29:54Speaker 1: the NBA, there's only been four fourth quarter comebacks of
- 29:58Speaker 1: twenty four plus. The Lakers did it in two they
- 30:04Speaker 1: were down twenty seven, Atlanta did it in twenty seventeen
- 30:08Speaker 1: on Cleveland down twenty six, Brooklyn did it twenty nineteen
- 30:14Speaker 1: down twenty five, and then obviously the one we just did.
- 30:16Speaker 1: So it is rare. It is rare. And that's their
- 30:21Speaker 1: fifteenth twenty point comeback. So the other the largest ones,
- 30:31Speaker 1: they're tied for the largest one. But it goes back
- 30:34Speaker 1: to ninety six, ninety eight and ninety two, down by
- 30:38Speaker 1: twenty five, down by twenty four, down by twenty four.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So that's that's going way back. That's going way back. Yeah.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I mean, when you have Dillingham, who's twenty, McDaniel's only
- 30:51Speaker 1: twenty four. Obviously we know antsy young twenty three, Shannon
- 30:54Speaker 1: twenty four, Nas twenty five. Clark's like I think twenty
- 31:00Speaker 1: I don't think he's twenty four. I think he's twenty three. Yeah. Really,
- 31:06Speaker 1: just a shitty, shitty start and a phenomenal I mean,
- 31:11Speaker 1: sixteen down sixteen and we tied the game of three
- 31:15Speaker 1: forty five left. I just it's crazy. Chris Heines said.
- 31:18Speaker 1: The Timbrelves were twenty two to twenty two from the
- 31:20Speaker 1: freedom line and the fourth corner overtime. Wow, I didn't
- 31:23Speaker 1: realize that knew were hit a lot, but dang yeah,
- 31:26Speaker 1: there was a ninety nine the probability ninety nine point
- 31:29Speaker 1: eight for them to win when they were up that
- 31:33Speaker 1: late and Alexander Shaye went off to thirty nine ten
- 31:40Speaker 1: to eight assists. He was going off. Man, he's just
- 31:42Speaker 1: a handful. That guy is ridiculous. He is a damn
- 31:49Speaker 1: good player. And Tarrn this is also Timbrelves pr Terrence
- 31:54Speaker 1: Shannon Junior is the first Timbrels rookie with fifteen points
- 31:57Speaker 1: and five boards off the bench. That's Martin since twenty nineteen. Wow,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I did see this tweet. The Minnesota Timbers are gonna
- 32:12Speaker 1: lose their to lose tonight, which is now seven losses
- 32:15Speaker 1: in their last eleven, so obviously that's six now, so
- 32:19Speaker 1: we're five and six and the last eleven they have
- 32:22Speaker 1: twenty eight twenty eight losses. That's that's what he was
- 32:28Speaker 1: saying to this tweet. They lost twenty six all last year.
- 32:31Speaker 1: They have twenty three games remaining. Someone sent me that,
- 32:36Speaker 1: I don't know, I think that was during the game.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I think that was during the game. But yeah, I
- 32:46Speaker 1: mean in Finch under Finch. Since twenty one twenty two,
- 32:51Speaker 1: we have the best or tied for the best record
- 32:53Speaker 1: against OKC. We're now, I believe, eleven and five against them,
- 33:01Speaker 1: so that's really good. I mean the defensive rankings too
- 33:08Speaker 1: for OKC. They flashed that stat like opponents points per game,
- 33:16Speaker 1: a field goals allowed, field goal percentage allowed, three point percentage,
- 33:21Speaker 1: opponent paint steals, like they're number one in everything. So
- 33:28Speaker 1: it is pretty incredible that we made that come back.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Some real quick news that just came out from Sham's
- 33:39Speaker 1: Jalen Clark. We've converted Jalen Clark into a center. Note
- 33:45Speaker 1: we've we've converted his contract to a fully guaranteed two
- 33:50Speaker 1: year contract. Now, my question is is it this year
- 33:57Speaker 1: and next year? Two year contract because he's been on
- 34:02Speaker 1: a two way it's been on a two way since
- 34:05Speaker 1: being a second round pick in Minnesota. Now since we
- 34:12Speaker 1: did that, right, we brought in on a two way
- 34:15Speaker 1: deal Bones Highland who was with Conolly. So I like that.
- 34:21Speaker 1: That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, I really like that.
- 34:26Speaker 1: And it's a guy who you bring him in right now,
- 34:30Speaker 1: and you know, you never know, you never know if
- 34:35Speaker 1: he's going to play a role moving forward with us.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Maybe not this year as much, maybe he will maybe
- 34:41Speaker 1: next year after a trade stuff to say. So, yeah,
- 34:47Speaker 1: I assume it's this year and next year because it
- 34:51Speaker 1: says a two year deal. Yeah. So anyway, Hyland is
- 35:01Speaker 1: only twenty four, he's in his fourth year right now.
- 35:06Speaker 1: He's averaging or he was with the Clippers this year, Okay,
- 35:12Speaker 1: so he was. He had twenty games with the Clippers
- 35:15Speaker 1: and he was sent to Atlanta. So he he's average
- 35:19Speaker 1: only seven points, is shooting thirty nine percent from three
- 35:24Speaker 1: and according to ESPN research, Highland ranks in the top
- 35:28Speaker 1: five and steals for thirty six minutes, and he also
- 35:32Speaker 1: has an average. He has average seventeen point seven in
- 35:36Speaker 1: three games where he played at least twenty twenty minutes. Okay,
- 35:41Speaker 1: all right, so I do like that, by the way,
- 35:44Speaker 1: I think that's a good move. Why not it hurts
- 35:48Speaker 1: absolutely nothing, and you never know, you know, we it
- 35:53Speaker 1: feels like Conley, you know, maybe that had to do
- 35:56Speaker 1: with what type of offseason he had or didn't have, right,
- 36:00Speaker 1: and he does kindly does seem like he's moving better
- 36:05Speaker 1: and just playing better. But still it's not up to
- 36:09Speaker 1: the what he was doing last year and the year
- 36:11Speaker 1: before for us. So you know, we'll see where that goes. So, yeah,
- 36:17Speaker 1: phenomenal comeback, you know, just wanting to talk. I know
- 36:24Speaker 1: we were one and two so far out of that though,
- 36:26Speaker 1: so we do have to kind of we do have
- 36:29Speaker 1: to keep that in perspective. And like I mentioned last week,
- 36:36Speaker 1: a lot of emphasis have been put on how the
- 36:40Speaker 1: team's playing since the injuries to Randall, especially but even Devincenzo,
- 36:48Speaker 1: but especially the the injury you know, to the big
- 36:52Speaker 1: right to Randall, so that brought in Noahs and it
- 36:55Speaker 1: also in the starting lineup and and also obviously has
- 37:01Speaker 1: Jaden played in the formal and he does have experience
- 37:06Speaker 1: playing the four. In fact, when we were really small
- 37:11Speaker 1: under rosas you know, he played a lot of four
- 37:16Speaker 1: So but I mean, if you look at February, right,
- 37:21Speaker 1: and we don't have much time left of February, but
- 37:24Speaker 1: he is averaging eighteen point six a game and he's
- 37:30Speaker 1: shooting almost forty nine percent from the field on fourteen shots,
- 37:35Speaker 1: so he's doing pretty good at the free throw line.
- 37:43Speaker 1: That's the last three games has been phenomenal. Then there
- 37:47Speaker 1: was like a gap where he only went to the
- 37:50Speaker 1: line three times in three games. Then he was six
- 37:52Speaker 1: to seven. Then no, like got skunk two games in
- 37:55Speaker 1: a row, and then four four, four or five. So
- 37:59Speaker 1: you know, he's three point seven. He's shooting ninety percent
- 38:02Speaker 1: but three point seven per game. And we know the
- 38:08Speaker 1: three point shooting's not there right. In fact, he didn't
- 38:12Speaker 1: shoot one in that comeback win, but prior, you know,
- 38:17Speaker 1: he had been three of like nineteen or something like that,
- 38:21Speaker 1: so you know the three point But I do like
- 38:25Speaker 1: that he's found his mid range games all the way.
- 38:30Speaker 1: And you know he now the month before he shot
- 38:38Speaker 1: the three forty percent and shot almost fifty two percent
- 38:41Speaker 1: from the field, got the line less. We're talking January,
- 38:47Speaker 1: but yeah, I mean that's basically since the big and
- 38:51Speaker 1: Devincenzo was already out for a little while. He's played
- 38:54Speaker 1: great and he is finding his groove and you know
- 38:58Speaker 1: where do you think his ceiling is headed? That's been
- 39:02Speaker 1: a big debate. I've heard multiple media members talking about
- 39:09Speaker 1: what they think of him, and you know, he's going
- 39:13Speaker 1: to be a piece that we're either going to keep
- 39:16Speaker 1: or we're going to trade this offseason. I really believe
- 39:19Speaker 1: that one or the other. And I did get a comment, actually,
- 39:22Speaker 1: I think to a message saying that when I brought
- 39:27Speaker 1: up this offseason about Durant and how McDaniels might be
- 39:32Speaker 1: in that trade, you know you're fooling yourself if you
- 39:37Speaker 1: don't think you at least have to think long and
- 39:39Speaker 1: hard about that.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 39:41Speaker 1: But I understand the ant naws in McDaniel's kind of
- 39:48Speaker 1: the big three for the future, right And do you
- 39:53Speaker 1: see McDaniels as you know, a part of that big
- 39:59Speaker 1: three like for sure? And you know if we trade Randall,
- 40:05Speaker 1: it'll be it may be part of a bigger trade.
- 40:08Speaker 1: And that's what I'm talking about, where McDaniels may have
- 40:11Speaker 1: to be involved in maybe one of the young players
- 40:13Speaker 1: to be able to get a Durant or it'll be
- 40:17Speaker 1: Randal getting traded for two solid players off the bench,
- 40:22Speaker 1: so you'd bring in Nods in the starting lineup. And
- 40:25Speaker 1: then obviously you need a big that can score somewhat
- 40:28Speaker 1: off the bench if you're gonna put NOAs in the
- 40:30Speaker 1: starting lineup. And then maybe it would be since we
- 40:33Speaker 1: are kind of guard heavy right now, maybe it would
- 40:35Speaker 1: be a more maybe a tweeter, maybe a guy who's
- 40:41Speaker 1: kind of a long, linky, small forward. I know Shannon
- 40:46Speaker 1: is that, but I don't know. I'm just saying you
- 40:51Speaker 1: have to you have to look at it all. And
- 40:57Speaker 1: my thing is sometimes people over do it with nas
- 41:03Speaker 1: and I'm starting to see that with McDaniels right now.
- 41:09Speaker 1: The Kawhi Leonard like a like a poor man's Kawhi Leonard.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Obviously he's got a length, he doesn't have the same
- 41:20Speaker 1: body type. But as far as developing into and then
- 41:25Speaker 1: giving the opportunity when when given the opportunity to have
- 41:29Speaker 1: more shots, uh and let him cook, so to speak,
- 41:34Speaker 1: can he, like I said, be part of that. I
- 41:38Speaker 1: think Randall, unless we make it to the conference finals
- 41:42Speaker 1: or something, I think Randall is getting traded, you know,
- 41:46Speaker 1: Draft night or whatever. So yeah, I'm just saying you
- 41:50Speaker 1: have to look at it. But you also can't just
- 41:55Speaker 1: use February and be like this is proof that you know,
- 42:02Speaker 1: because it's not like last year where we had like
- 42:05Speaker 1: an eight and three record without Cat or whatever. And
- 42:08Speaker 1: I've gotten some pushback from that when I say about that,
- 42:11Speaker 1: but it's true if you go and look at who
- 42:13Speaker 1: we played and who they had starting and who their
- 42:16Speaker 1: starters were and weren't playing, it wasn't as crazy. It
- 42:21Speaker 1: wasn't as great as people were making it out to be.
- 42:24Speaker 1: That's all I was saying, because remember we had the
- 42:27Speaker 1: number one seed in the West for the most out
- 42:30Speaker 1: of anybody that year. So that was my point. It's like,
- 42:34Speaker 1: if you like Nas over Cat, cool, that's fine, but
- 42:39Speaker 1: don't add on shit. That's my whole point. And I think,
- 42:47Speaker 1: you know, I think with a guy who can shoot
- 42:51Speaker 1: at the four like we had Cat and now we
- 42:53Speaker 1: have NOAs, I think that it's not about I think,
- 42:56Speaker 1: obviously McDaniel's offensively is is better in that scenario because
- 43:02Speaker 1: he is a guy that can start to get a
- 43:04Speaker 1: little hot. He has shown it in the playoffs from three.
- 43:07Speaker 1: But if you're only down to Rudie for the non shooter.
- 43:13Speaker 1: That would help, you know, McDaniels, and I think that
- 43:20Speaker 1: leaning into him more, letting him him do his thing.
- 43:24Speaker 1: It's gonna be all interesting to see how it, you know,
- 43:26Speaker 1: it all comes together and nas his play, it just
- 43:30Speaker 1: keeps just it's just staying steady. He like jumped up
- 43:36Speaker 1: a level and he's kept it there. And now in February,
- 43:39Speaker 1: even from the last time he spoke, it's higher. You know,
- 43:44Speaker 1: he's actually scored twenty two points funny enough, twenty two Wait,
- 43:50Speaker 1: twenty two points in the last three games. Twenty two,
- 43:53Speaker 1: twenty two, twenty seven, twenty two Is that right? Wow,
- 43:58Speaker 1: that's kind of weird. Anyway, he's averaging twenty point three
- 44:03Speaker 1: a game in February, shooting sixteen times a game, not
- 44:07Speaker 1: really getting the line all that much, but when he
- 44:09Speaker 1: gets there, he's shooting ninety percent, shooting about eight threes
- 44:13Speaker 1: a game, had a thirty four point five clips, So
- 44:16Speaker 1: that's come down, but it came down from like in
- 44:19Speaker 1: January he shot fifty fifty what was it, fifty seven
- 44:25Speaker 1: percent from three, you know, and you know, more usage
- 44:29Speaker 1: more than likely because January, once again he was shooting
- 44:34Speaker 1: fifty four point four from the field. In fifty seven
- 44:37Speaker 1: and a half from three, which is crazy in that
- 44:42Speaker 1: I'm talking January. He averaged sixteen points in that time
- 44:45Speaker 1: on about almost eleven shots, but it bumped up more
- 44:49Speaker 1: in it. Forty five percent is still a good percentage.
- 44:52Speaker 1: You'd like that to go up more, obviously, forty five
- 44:55Speaker 1: percent and only thirty four percent from three, but nine boards,
- 44:59Speaker 1: you know, like he's really coming along and he's not.
- 45:03Speaker 1: He's you know, he's he's played obviously more at the
- 45:06Speaker 1: four in the starting and then also the five lately,
- 45:10Speaker 1: so in just in general and more of this year.
- 45:13Speaker 1: We obviously all of a sudden needed a backup center
- 45:16Speaker 1: in there, so he had to adjust his game once again.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And he is thriving many times, you know, even defensively
- 45:26Speaker 1: at times. You know, sure, you know he's never going
- 45:29Speaker 1: to be a great rim protector, and a lot of
- 45:32Speaker 1: his blocks come after he gets beat, but not fully
- 45:37Speaker 1: beat obviously, right, And yeah, I just can't say enough
- 45:42Speaker 1: about the youngsters, you know, they just they're coming in
- 45:49Speaker 1: playing a role. Shannon Junior, who's like a six to
- 45:53Speaker 1: six long, linky guy, a mature guy. You know, the
- 45:57Speaker 1: last five games he's played really well, this last one
- 46:00Speaker 1: really really well. I guess the two before it wasn't great,
- 46:04Speaker 1: but the two before that were really good. So overall, man,
- 46:07Speaker 1: he's he's showing that depth that we're talking about. And
- 46:12Speaker 1: and and Garza has been pulling his weight at times, right,
- 46:18Speaker 1: we don't need it a lot, but he's been he's
- 46:21Speaker 1: been doing pretty good. Like I mentioned, Alexander Walker has
- 46:26Speaker 1: been on a here lately. I think someone said I
- 46:31Speaker 1: think they heard they heard people on Twitter. I think
- 46:36Speaker 1: it was on the Dane Moore Show. He just he heard,
- 46:40Speaker 1: you know, all the stuff about Clark and Shannon and
- 46:43Speaker 1: all these youngsters and now Nah's going off. But yeah,
- 46:46Speaker 1: we'll finch go use this small lineup in certain matchups
- 46:53Speaker 1: and not this exact small lineup because the odds that
- 46:57Speaker 1: we close games down the stretch without Rudy and Randall
- 47:00Speaker 1: when they're back, I don't know without both of them,
- 47:04Speaker 1: you know, and obviously some of them, it wouldn't it
- 47:08Speaker 1: wouldn't even make sense, right, So I think it's a
- 47:10Speaker 1: it's a combination. I think he's I think he'll do
- 47:14Speaker 1: more of that a little bit, but I'm not sold
- 47:18Speaker 1: that he's gonna lean way into it. And at times,
- 47:21Speaker 1: nor should he you know, we got to remember that,
- 47:29Speaker 1: you know, we we we actually haven't had that great
- 47:32Speaker 1: of a record lately, you know, since since losing Randall.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Now you gotta remember Stevencenzo as well, but you know,
- 47:46Speaker 1: basically February. We've played without him in February and it's
- 47:51Speaker 1: been up and down. You know, we lost the first
- 47:54Speaker 1: two games against Washington sack, then one three in a row.
- 47:57Speaker 1: So you're three and two and lose, you know, back
- 47:59Speaker 1: to back games and you're three and four beat ok C.
- 48:04Speaker 1: You know, you're you're, you're you're five hundred, right, you're
- 48:06Speaker 1: four and four. Then you lose two four, So so
- 48:09Speaker 1: we're five and six without him, and we went on
- 48:15Speaker 1: a five game winning streak when we didn't even have Devincenzo.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I believe, I think he was already out by that time,
- 48:22Speaker 1: if I remember correctly. So now that doesn't mean everything.
- 48:29Speaker 1: And I've heard a lot of I've heard a lot
- 48:33Speaker 1: from some of the key media members saying the look
- 48:37Speaker 1: of it it's more aesthetically a please, you know, pleasing
- 48:41Speaker 1: to watch, because many people didn't like the way we
- 48:47Speaker 1: played last year. But it was effective as shit, and
- 48:52Speaker 1: that's some of the best defense. I've seen in quite
- 48:54Speaker 1: some time that what was a Game two without against
- 49:01Speaker 1: Denver that was nasty just in general for most of
- 49:07Speaker 1: the season. I remember that. I think, yeah, it came
- 49:11Speaker 1: in Game four, that defensive rotation that led to the
- 49:14Speaker 1: ant dug down the lane where everybody rotated and in uh,
- 49:19Speaker 1: I think it was me Dani's I got a steel laner.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Maybe no, I don't know, but you know, the record
- 49:26Speaker 1: does count too, you know. So we've been shorthanded though,
- 49:32Speaker 1: and that's we've missed Conley a little bit. We've missed
- 49:36Speaker 1: even Rudy a little bit, who had been playing better too.
- 49:39Speaker 1: So blending this all together, remember it's it's not like
- 49:44Speaker 1: last year, because remember last year, people were saying, I
- 49:47Speaker 1: don't know how we're gonna bring kat back into this
- 49:50Speaker 1: because they were so sold that we're not gonna go
- 49:55Speaker 1: far without nas in the starting lineup. Basically, I mean,
- 49:58Speaker 1: some folks are saying, and don't even bring him back.
- 50:01Speaker 1: In the first round, cat Like, it was a major
- 50:06Speaker 1: moment of like how we gonna bring him back? And
- 50:10Speaker 1: obviously it went really smooth, right now, don't be wrong.
- 50:14Speaker 1: You know in the conference finals, his shot was off.
- 50:18Speaker 1: There's no doubt about that talking about Cat, but to
- 50:24Speaker 1: be a number one seed in one of the top
- 50:26Speaker 1: seeds and top ten teams throughout the whole year. Last
- 50:30Speaker 1: year went one and one with two overtime games. Celtics
- 50:35Speaker 1: people were still saying, how are we going to bring
- 50:37Speaker 1: Cat back? And now I'm kind of hearing the same thing,
- 50:41Speaker 1: how are we going to bring all these guys back?
- 50:43Speaker 1: As if we've you know, ran off, you know, we've
- 50:50Speaker 1: been seven and two or you know what I mean.
- 50:52Speaker 1: It's like there were a fair amount of positives before
- 50:56Speaker 1: they got hurt de Vincenzo first and then and I'm
- 51:01Speaker 1: not gonna put everything on that five game winning streak either.
- 51:05Speaker 1: You know, I'm not going to say, oh this is it, dude,
- 51:08Speaker 1: I would I wouldn't you know, I would extend Randall
- 51:12Speaker 1: right now, bro give him a four year contract. I'm
- 51:14Speaker 1: not saying that either, you know, I'm not saying that.
- 51:16Speaker 1: But I do think people are going a little over
- 51:20Speaker 1: the top with this where we should just go small
- 51:25Speaker 1: and then what bring Rudy and in Randal off the bench.
- 51:30Speaker 1: The thing about Randall's starting, he started for a lot,
- 51:34Speaker 1: you know, a large part of his career, right and
- 51:37Speaker 1: if you want, like I enterstand some of the senergy right,
- 51:44Speaker 1: and some of the lineup stuff. I do get that.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I'm not discounting it. But Nas has already shown he
- 51:50Speaker 1: can come off the bench and be productive. And I'm
- 51:53Speaker 1: not saying Randal Camp, but mid season, hey dude, you
- 51:56Speaker 1: haven't been a bench player in a long time in
- 51:59Speaker 1: your career. We're gonna have you come off the bench.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I don't know if that works either. You can't just
- 52:03Speaker 1: to automatically assume that works. Whereas we know Nas can
- 52:07Speaker 1: come off the bench, it's really about the fourth quarter
- 52:11Speaker 1: closing and you know what, and both with both teams,
- 52:15Speaker 1: I guess you could say both units we've been dog
- 52:18Speaker 1: shit in clutch time dog shit, So it goes both ways. Man.
- 52:26Speaker 1: You know, let's not get too excited. You know, I
- 52:30Speaker 1: love the depth that we've shown. You could also make
- 52:33Speaker 1: the argument that the youth depth that we have, maybe
- 52:37Speaker 1: we shouldn't have traded Cat for one more year. You know,
- 52:40Speaker 1: I mean, if we're gonna, if we're gonna start to
- 52:42Speaker 1: do this stuff and talk about well shit, now all
- 52:45Speaker 1: of a sudden, the West doesn't look as tough. It
- 52:49Speaker 1: really doesn't. And so if we hadn't trade Cat. Yeah
- 52:54Speaker 1: we lost slom Oh, yeah we messed j Mack. But
- 52:56Speaker 1: look at the depth that we have though not Devincenzeol
- 52:59Speaker 1: not on the on the team. And maybe we would
- 53:03Speaker 1: have made some sort of minor move to get a
- 53:05Speaker 1: backup point guard like we did last year. But and
- 53:08Speaker 1: I'm not Cat's gone, right, I'm not saying that, but
- 53:11Speaker 1: I'm just trying to prove points of Like, you know,
- 53:14Speaker 1: we can all think a variety of options or thoughts
- 53:19Speaker 1: or whatever, and I just talked about a few of them,
- 53:23Speaker 1: which you can make statements for it, and it makes sense.
- 53:26Speaker 1: And I do you know nas and I do think
- 53:31Speaker 1: naw should be here long term. I'm not saying that
- 53:34Speaker 1: at all. Now, We'll see about McDaniel's long term. I'm
- 53:41Speaker 1: not one hundred percent sold on McDaniel's long term. If
- 53:46Speaker 1: that means it kind of matters the trade. I'm not
- 53:49Speaker 1: saying let's just dump them, right, But we can't get
- 53:56Speaker 1: too caught up in numbers that aren't a waiting to
- 54:00Speaker 1: wins either. Right now, if we had Randal off the
- 54:06Speaker 1: bench in these games, that would help, you know, I
- 54:12Speaker 1: don't know how he'd performed up the bench, that's my
- 54:14Speaker 1: honest I don't know, but that's what I'm saying, senergy
- 54:18Speaker 1: and all that. I do think there's something to be
- 54:20Speaker 1: said about someone that was learning how to play. We
- 54:22Speaker 1: were playing better as a whole with him in the lineup.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Doesn't mean I want him there next year. I'm just
- 54:29Speaker 1: saying what is best for this year. Well, maybe Nas
- 54:33Speaker 1: is in the starting lineup and that is better and
- 54:36Speaker 1: that's where he's gonna be for the next eight years.
- 54:39Speaker 1: You know, that could happen. But I just wonder, you know,
- 54:45Speaker 1: and as I've mentioned, other people have mentioned this too.
- 54:48Speaker 1: You know, maybe with the minister restriction, having him naturally
- 54:52Speaker 1: coming off the bench Randall, just just because of minister restriction,
- 54:57Speaker 1: you know, maybe that maybe it feels good right away
- 55:02Speaker 1: and it just clicks and then you just can stay
- 55:05Speaker 1: with it. Yeah, I think that's a possibility, and I
- 55:10Speaker 1: think that's like the least difficult way to make it work,
- 55:14Speaker 1: as if he just responded off the bench, off the minutes.
- 55:18Speaker 1: But if he's playing really good, then we might just
- 55:21Speaker 1: put him, you know, I don't know. I just just
- 55:24Speaker 1: like last year or in the summer or anytime we
- 55:28Speaker 1: talked about Cat getting traded people just automatically put Nas
- 55:32Speaker 1: in the starting lineup, and I always said that's not
- 55:34Speaker 1: necessarily true, and as it turns out, it wasn't true.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Now does that mean well, I was right. Yeah, that
- 55:42Speaker 1: doesn't mean shit though, because ultimately Nas might be in
- 55:46Speaker 1: there for, like I said, the next eight years. You know,
- 55:48Speaker 1: I want him here, but to keep McDaniels and all
- 55:54Speaker 1: these other young players. So the big three is Nas,
- 56:00Speaker 1: Nas and McDaniels. You know that. Core, Let's just work
- 56:06Speaker 1: around that, Core. Yeah, I could see I see Nas
- 56:11Speaker 1: thriving more than I do McDaniels. But and I don't
- 56:17Speaker 1: expect him to keep up nineteen points, right obviously, you'd
- 56:20Speaker 1: have to be at least sixteen or eighteen. If he's
- 56:23Speaker 1: part of the big three right now, maybe Dante actually
- 56:28Speaker 1: would be the third scorer in that and he'd be
- 56:30Speaker 1: the fourth or something like that. You know. But overall, Man,
- 56:35Speaker 1: just knowing that Shanning, Clark, rob All are here down
- 56:38Speaker 1: Clark has I think another year here. If I'm reading
- 56:42Speaker 1: the you know, I'm assuming it means this year and
- 56:46Speaker 1: next year. But I don't have the details in front
- 56:48Speaker 1: of me one hundred percent. I think when they say
- 56:51Speaker 1: I guaranteed two years. I believe that's not for next
- 56:54Speaker 1: year because if he was still on a two way contract,
- 56:58Speaker 1: obviously you know that wouldn't that wouldn't make sense, right,
- 57:04Speaker 1: So Clark or Shannon and Rob are here for forty
- 57:08Speaker 1: you know, three more after this year based off their
- 57:11Speaker 1: contracts if we want it that way. So it gives
- 57:14Speaker 1: us enough time to see who's gonna stick. And if
- 57:19Speaker 1: we were to make a trade, you know, it might
- 57:22Speaker 1: just be Randall for two solid players and bringing nods
- 57:26Speaker 1: in the starting lineup, and that's the big difference. And
- 57:28Speaker 1: then obviously where do we go. We try that for
- 57:32Speaker 1: two years or something, and then Rudy's contract will be
- 57:35Speaker 1: coming up and that's where we'll go from there. But anyway,
- 57:37Speaker 1: we do have the Lakers at Lakers tomorrow night, at Utah,
- 57:42Speaker 1: at Phoenix, Philly, and Charlotte. So I think I'm gonna
- 57:46Speaker 1: let these five games go by and do a show
- 57:53Speaker 1: what would be not this Thursday, but next Thursday. After
- 57:57Speaker 1: the Charlotte game. So at Lakers not knowing who's going
- 58:02Speaker 1: to start. Like I mentioned, with Randall and Devincenzo, it
- 58:05Speaker 1: looks like they're pretty close, if not fully healthy, it's
- 58:09Speaker 1: just about wind getting their wind back, so they could
- 58:12Speaker 1: just pop up in the questionable list and all of
- 58:17Speaker 1: a sudden they're playing you never know, you know, so,
- 58:23Speaker 1: but I do think I doubt they start. You know,
- 58:25Speaker 1: there's a chance they won't start, either one of them,
- 58:27Speaker 1: you know. And like I said, if that scenario works,
- 58:34Speaker 1: you know, just naturally. I think having it naturally work
- 58:40Speaker 1: would be a lot better overall, rather than you know,
- 58:46Speaker 1: this is what we're gonna do. You're gonna be on
- 58:49Speaker 1: the bench, you know, I just do. Maybe I'm wrong,
- 58:53Speaker 1: but it was reported that Finch said that Devincenzo will
- 58:58Speaker 1: is practicing today and la so that's a really good sign.
- 59:02Speaker 1: So hopefully we can we can get it going. But yeah,
- 59:09Speaker 1: what will we be? You know, four and one, one
- 59:16Speaker 1: and four, three and two, two and three. We should
- 59:18Speaker 1: beat Utah. Phoenix is always kind of funky, but we
- 59:21Speaker 1: can beat him. It's at obviously. Philly is a mess
- 59:25Speaker 1: right now, very winnable. Charlotte's winnable. The Lakers are figuring
- 59:30Speaker 1: it out right now. I guess you could you could say,
- 59:37Speaker 1: you know, part of me wants to think Utah Philly
- 59:43Speaker 1: Charlotte does three. Part of me wants to say four
- 59:45Speaker 1: and one, but as this season goes beyond that little
- 59:51Speaker 1: five game winning streak, beyond you know that we followed
- 59:54Speaker 1: up with two straight losses, we've kind of we've kind
- 59:58Speaker 1: of taken those steps forward, steps back that type of thing.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: What I will say is, based off the last few games,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: we need to start the games that are not just
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: the first quarter of the whole first half. So I'm
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: gonna say, like I said, part of me wants to
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: say four and one, but I'm gonna say three and two.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: So I will be back, like I said, not this Thursday,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: but next Thursday, after that Charlotte game on Wednesday. And
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: then the last thing I wanted to mention real quick
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: TIMBERWLS wise, anyway, KG possibly getting behind the scenes as
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: an executive. That was a report that we we've we've
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: kind of it's been out there for a while. Whether
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: it happens or not, I don't know. I do want
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: him involved, obviously. We know when we traded for him,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: when we you know, when we had Kat as a
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: rookie and whatnot, and we had that team Wiggins and
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: all that, right Levine and all that, when we brought
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: him here, we know that's when Flip r Ip was
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: in charge, and we know Kevin Gartinette was putting a
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: group together to buy the team, and you know that
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: was what the plan was. Flip passes away Saunder sells
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: off a portion of the team anyway, not a large steak,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: but a portion of it, and then the KG things
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: completely out the window. Right. But the my point is
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I remember him in an interview even saying like almost
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: like an internship, like I want to learn the behind
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: the scenes, you know, and work my way up to be,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: you know, to to really learn the game that way too,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: and be some form of executive. I don't know you
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: know what that means, but exactly you know what his
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: role would be. But we can find him a role,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: you know, and I just I would love it if
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Kevin Gartinett is involved, you know, on the day to
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: day of this team, I think, you know, I mean
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: I always said that, like imagine Cat staying after practice
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: for like the last eight years with KG, you know
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: what I mean, Like just the little things, man, it
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: would really add up. So yeah, we'll see. I did
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: I saw someone take a screenshot of a rod uh?
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Was it LORI too? I don't know, but they were
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: sitting in Glenn Taylor spot, so it was kind of funny.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: But anyway, oh yeah, the Golphers, Doug Olphers it this
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: this has just been weird. Man. They got beat by
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: double digits at home by Northwestern, who's not good. Let's
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: just be honest, they're not good. And yeah, so it's
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: it's just been messed up. Man. We won like six
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: out of nine games. You know, we beat a rank
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: two ranked teams. Lose the Washington Yeah, you lose the Illinois.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: It is what it is. You turn right back around
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: on the road usc U c l A and then
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: lose the Penn State in Northwestern at home. It's just ridiculous, man.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And you know, I could understand going with Ben Johnson
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: for one more year if, in fact, which we kind
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: of assumed that NL money will be n I L
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: money will be better based off of you know, the
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: the court thing where you know, the athletic the athletic
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: director is gonna get twenty million dollars or whatever something
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: like that and they can spread it out to whoever
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: they whoever they want player wise. So and I assume
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: that's just for players. I don't know if that's for
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: a coach. But if you could have an inexpensive coach
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: who can recruit and then you give him a chance
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: to keep his players. That's the one thing I'll always
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: say about Ben Johnson is he never he didn't have
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: a good enough NLI package. And it's not all on him,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: that's for damn sure. Some of it is people not
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: believing in him. Some of it is just out of sight,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: out of mind. If the go over suck, or in
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: any team sucks for a little while, you kind of
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: out of sight, out of mind, you know, I don't know,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: you know, it's it's a tough decision because, like I said,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: has he shown he can coach at a high level,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Like has he overachieved with the team? At times I
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: believe he overchees. But at other times he underachieves within
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: the season, like last year, had we return earn two
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: out of those three players one one guy went pro.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: So there's not much you could do there. I suppose
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: if you had a good NLI maybe you could have
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: kept him. I don't know. I don't think so though,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: because if it was down to NL, I could just
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: win someplace else. So talking about Christy there, but had
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: we have kept the two other players, then maybe we
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: could really fully judge you know him. But if they
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: let him go, I'm not gonna be shedding tears. If
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: they give him one more year with like money to keep,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: you know, I wouldn't be completely adverse to that. I
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: don't know anyway, I'm gonna get out of here. Like
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I said, I'll be back, not tomorrow, but next Thursday.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Enjoy the games, hopefully both teams get some wins. I'm
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: out pace
