- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 123 already — can you believe it? Lucas: I know. And today, we're talking about a topic that's very relevant right now: hot weather. Luna: Oh, tell me about it. It's been so hot lately. I could use some French phrases to complain about the heat. Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with the most basic one: 'Il fait chaud.' — It's hot. Luna: Il fait chaud. Lucas: Nice. Now, if you want to express how hot it is, you can say 'Quelle chaleur!' — What heat! Luna: Quelle chaleur! That sounds dramatic. I love it. Lucas: It is dramatic. And here's one that's very useful: 'Je transpire.' — I'm sweating. Luna: Je transpire. Oh, I'm definitely doing that today. Lucas: And if it's too much, you can say 'Il fait trop chaud.' — It's too hot. Luna: Il fait trop chaud. That's been my motto all week. Lucas: Now, what do you do when it's too hot? You look for shade: 'Je cherche de l'ombre.' — I'm looking for shade. Luna: Je cherche de l'ombre. That sounds like a good plan. And then you drink water: 'Bois de l'eau.' — Drink water. Lucas: Exactly. So let's put these in a little scene. Imagine we're at a park in Paris. Luna: Okay, I'm with you. Lucas: I say: 'Il fait chaud aujourd'hui.' — It's hot today. Luna: Quelle chaleur! Je transpire. Lucas: Yes! And then I say: 'Je cherche de l'ombre.' — I'm looking for shade. And I add: 'Bois de l'eau.' — Drink water. Luna: Good advice. So 'Bois de l'eau' uses the imperative for 'tu', right? Lucas: Exactly. Now let's practice each one again. Repeat after me: 'Il fait chaud.' — Il fait chaud. Luna: Il fait chaud. Lucas: Quelle chaleur! Luna: Quelle chaleur! Lucas: Je transpire. Luna: Je transpire. Lucas: Il fait trop chaud. Luna: Il fait trop chaud. Lucas: Je cherche de l'ombre. Luna: Je cherche de l'ombre. Lucas: Bois de l'eau. Luna: Bois de l'eau. Lucas: Great job.
