- 0:22the. Coop and let's start your day
- 0:24off in a fantastic way. Hey everybody, good morning.
- 0:30Today I want to talk to you about disappointments.
- 0:34So they are around us. They are all around us.
- 0:37They're we can't escape them. It doesn't matter what color you
- 0:41are, what you do for work. It doesn't matter if you're rich
- 0:46or poor. It doesn't matter if you have a
- 0:49heartbeat and you're human, you are going to have
- 0:52disappointments. It's part of our ecology as a
- 0:56as, as the environment that we are living in.
- 1:00We just will have disappointments.
- 1:03It might be a simple thing like, oh, I ordered a burger and it's
- 1:06not cooked the way I want. That happens to me all the time.
- 1:09That's one of my major disappointments.
- 1:11Believe it or not, it happens consistently because I like my
- 1:14burger well done and nobody likes to cook meat well done.
- 1:17I don't know why, but that's the way it works.
- 1:20Doesn't matter how I order, it matters that it always comes out
- 1:22that way. And I'm disappointed and I'm
- 1:25using that as an example because it's such a stupid thing.
- 1:28But there are bigger ones, you know, my son had an incident a
- 1:32couple weeks ago and he had to go.
- 1:34Finally got in to see had a problem with his hand.
- 1:37His finger was broken and it turned out that he now needs
- 1:40surgery. And I was super disappointed
- 1:43yesterday when I heard that he needed to have surgery.
- 1:47And then I remembered the phrase that I'm going to teach you
- 1:50today or talk to you about it today.
- 1:51And that is discipline your disappointments, discipline
- 1:55them. So as soon as I was like, oh,
- 1:56I'm so disappointed that he has to go into the summer like this
- 2:00and that he's got to have surgery and pins put in his
- 2:02finger and all this, you know, to me, it's just nonsense.
- 2:07And it, it, it was a moment where we had waited so many
- 2:12days. He what happened happened on the
- 2:158th and now all of a sudden here we are and we finally get in to
- 2:19see a doctor and the doctor like immediately needs to have
- 2:21surgery and they were scheduled it for today.
- 2:23And I'm like, I'm so pissed. I'm so aggravated and I felt
- 2:28like that I was so disappointed in the whole thing.
- 2:31And then I heard myself say discipline and disappointments.
- 2:34Isn't that amazing that we have a doctor that will do it right
- 2:37away? Yes.
- 2:38Isn't it wonderful that we live in a place where they can fix
- 2:42it? And he's not going to be having
- 2:45that finger useless for the rest of his life since he's only 17?
- 2:49Yes. And I start going through the
- 2:52list in my mind of the things that I can be grateful for and
- 2:57the things that I can use to discipline my disappointments.
- 3:01And by the end of it, by the end of the time that I sat there and
- 3:06paused and I'm talking, this maybe took me a minute, maybe a
- 3:09minute and a half. I pulled myself back, I pulled
- 3:13my head out of my butt. I stopped complaining and I just
- 3:16said, OK, this is what we're doing.
- 3:18And I got myself together, felt better.
- 3:22And he seems to be fine with it. He's irritated for sure that
- 3:27he's got to do it, but he's like, I'm not letting it slow me
- 3:30down. He's so determined.
- 3:33And I looked and I said, wow, you know what?
- 3:36I. I did a good job with that part.
- 3:38I did a good job. Because he's absolutely
- 3:41determined it's not going to take him out.
- 3:44And I looked and he just started a new job and he's just so
- 3:48excited about it. It, it was, it was just a
- 3:52moment. It was a moment in time to say
- 3:54it is necessary. It is absolutely, 100% necessary
- 3:59to discipline the disappointments all the time.
- 4:02So I'm sharing this with you because I want to ask you to
- 4:07discipline them. Don't let them run you over.
- 4:10Find something that you can take from this and appreciate from
- 4:14this. Find something that you can turn
- 4:17into this, that it's not as bad, even if you're saying it's not
- 4:20as bad as it could have been. Yes, that is a true statement.
- 4:24Now, it can also be true that you're like, yeah, but it still
- 4:26happened. We can always find the
- 4:29disappointment. It's harder to find the good
- 4:31stuff, so you have to mine for it.
- 4:34Let's just like mining for gold, it's hard to find the gold, but
- 4:36when you find it, boy, are you excited.
- 4:39It blows your mind. So go into this day, go into
- 4:43this week, the rest of this week.
- 4:45Go into the rest of your month, your life, thinking about
- 4:48disciplining the disappointments because I promise you, when you
- 4:52do, you find you're in a better energy.
- 4:54And then there are fewer and fewer disappointments because
- 4:57you stop attracting them. They stop showing up in your
- 5:00world, and before you know it, you're feeling a whole hell of a
- 5:04lot better. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:07you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:10Bye.
