  I'm already I'm already fallas for the Super wild Card weekend where it'll be colder

  than hell for a lot of the game. Yeah, it's uh, there's
• 1:00
  gonna be some weather in some of these games, and there's gonna be some
• 1:04
  good games in here as well, like six games all of massive consequence coming
• 1:10
  up here this weekend. Uh, Leggy, this is I'm gonna start with
• 1:12
  the biggest of big picture questions that I could ask you here of when you
• 1:18
  take a look at the profile of the teams that are that are in the
• 1:19
  postseason here and the look that there's all kinds of different ways to be able
• 1:23
  to build a winning football operation. But when you look at who has been
• 1:27
  successful in this year's version of the NFL, what lessons are there to take
• 1:34
  for the Broncos going forward and maybe there's a world where they play on Super
• 1:38
  wild Card weekend one day. Well, it's actually kind of I've been looking
• 1:44
  at some of this, you know, charting some things, and uh,
• 1:47
  in this in this day and age of offense, diversified offense, Uh,
• 1:53
  there were there were eleven teams this year that had a thousand yard rusher and
• 1:57
  at least one thousand yard receiver. Eleven and eight of them are in the
• 2:02
  playoffs. And it just sort of shows you you got to find a way
• 2:07
  to find some production on offense. And you know, the teams with neither
• 2:14
  of those and sometimes that can meet, Like Baltimore didn't have a thousand yard
• 2:20
  rusher or a thousand yard receiver, but it's because they are so diversified,
• 2:23
  so they're kind of an outlier. But of the teams with neither, including
• 2:30
  the Broncos. Only two of those teams made the playoffs, and two of
• 2:32
  them have MVPs at quarterback in Kansas City and Mahomes and Baltimore and Lamar Jackson.

  So you always got to be good defensively this time of year. But
• 2:45
  it does show you you're gonna have to have some diversity on offense. You're
• 2:49
  gonna have to find a way to move the ball against all of this shell
• 2:52
  coverage that is just everywhere in the league right now. Jeff, I know

  we all enjoy watching cold games that we don't have to sit out in or
• 3:04
  be the people that have to play in it or whatever. Do you think
• 3:07
  we get to a point where, because I've said this to Nate, I
• 3:09
  feel like as the league gets richer, i e. The owners, we
• 3:14
  will get to a point I don't know when, where most if not all
• 3:17
  buildings have a roof. Do you think that's in the future for the leagues
• 3:22
  as these buildings start to get replaced, you know, I don't know.

  You know, some of it is everyone's disdained with turf too, so you
• 3:31
  know it's I think it's you know, half a one and half of the
• 3:36
  other. Yeah, they'd like a roof in the winter time. But you
• 3:39
  know, players have made it very clear they want natural grass fields, and
• 3:45
  you know, I don't uh, you know, the one in Vegas for
• 3:49
  the Broncos last game. It didn't look great for sure, and it and
• 3:53
  it didn't really in my you know, limited agronomy experience, I don't think
• 3:59
  it held up very well either. So I think that's the issue. I
• 4:02
  think the playing field's always going to trump some games when it gets you know,
• 4:10
  like this this weekend. But I think the Super Bowl, I don't
• 4:14
  think we'll see another Super Bowl like we did when the Broncos and Seahawks played
• 4:17
  and you know, in in New Jersey. I don't think we'll see those
• 4:23
  just because of the threat of this what people are going to get this weekend.

  Jeff Legwald is with us here on a Friday after noon. Leggie,

  let's take it a look at this Broncos roster right now. And you were
• 4:35
  talking about thousand yard receivers. Broncos haven't had one since what was at Courtland
• 4:40
  Sutton, I think in twenty nineteen. It's been quite some time since they've
• 4:43
  had a thousand yard receiver. Of this group, and the top of the
• 4:47
  group this year and we'll take injuries out of it for a second Courtland Sutton,
• 4:53
  Jerry, Judy, Tim Patrick, Marvin Mims. That's that's your top
• 4:56
  four receivers coming back next year. You know there's a world where maybe little
• 5:00
  Jordan Humphrey is going to be coming to training camp, but that's probably what
• 5:03
  you're looking at in terms of that core of that group. And obviously mar
• 5:10
  Marvin Mins would be the answer to who is most likely to come back.
• 5:13
  But if the guys of the veterans in this group and the high earners in
• 5:16
  this group, who in your mind is most likely to come back and who
• 5:19
  in your mind is most likely to potentially either be shopped or be gone.

  Yeah, I don't know that we know the answer to that. I mean,
• 5:27
  obviously we know there's interest out there in the league and Judy especially,
• 5:32
  and I think you know, I did some informal polling in the last couple
• 5:36
  of days, nothing major, just a couple of personnel people, but I
• 5:42
  think there still would be some interest in Judy. Wouldn't be a naughty Would
• 5:46
  they get offers like they got before the season. I don't know the answer
• 5:48
  to that, but I think Sutton, you know, I think Sean Payton
• 5:55
  likes Sutton and he sits what they do and and he showed this year it
• 5:59
  could be closer in the red zone. And that's you know, they desperately
• 6:01
  need any and all of those, so moving him leaves a pretty big void
• 6:08
  in what they want to do. And you know, Mems, I think
• 6:10
  the potential is is really something there. I think probably I think they will
• 6:15
  begrudgingly admit some point that they should have played him more. He was the
• 6:20
  explosive option. But but Judy continues to be a mystery. And I just
• 6:26
  don't know when they they meet next week and beyond, you know, about
• 6:30
  the players on the roster, I don't know what they'll where their patience level
• 6:34
  is going to be with that, you know, do they want to hang
• 6:36
  in or they want to see if they could get an offer similar to the
• 6:42
  you know earlier this year. Would that be enough now and it wasn't before.

  I think that's one we all should watch. Probably. Okay, well,
• 6:51
  Courtland Sutton took the old Instagram with the Whatever's next kind of post doing

  that. But you know, I think I think all of Andy, I
• 7:02
  think all the players left that locker room Monday sort of wondering what the future
• 7:09
  was going to be because I don't think Sean Payton is the kind of guy
• 7:12
  that offers up guarantees in the meetings, like you're you're my guy, You're
• 7:16
  back next year, no matter what. I don't think they do that,
• 7:19
  And you know, that's not my sense. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's
• 7:21
  not my sense. I think a lot more is left up to the old
• 7:27
  We've got a lot of decisions to make. But they you know, they're
• 7:30
  gonna have a hard time keithing who they have. Again. You know,
• 7:33
  they've got ten dead money already before they do anything with Russ, and they
• 7:40
  have forty four players on the contract for next year, and they're already twenty
• 7:43
  over the cap. And yeah, you can adjust that and all of that,
• 7:46
  but given the dead money that's coming if they release Russ, that makes
• 7:51
  things an awful lot more difficult. And it's really hard to keep a lot
• 7:58
  of the people you might even want up to Jeff leg Well Friday Afternoon,

  ESPN, Jeff ap All Pro Teams. Patrick stan is not one of the

  four best cornerbacks in football. What happened there? Yeah, I'm not sure.

  I mean, maybe they were watching the World League or the XFL or

  I don't know, but Passer Tan is one of the best one cornerbacks in

  the Yeah, so I think he's the best corner in the n He certainly

  got my vote when I turned in my ballot, so uh yeah, I

  didn't get that one. That one was a head scratcher, because there's no

  way those four guys are all better than Passer tent. Is that just a

  product of losing team you're played in the game, he gave up seventy points,

  Like what I that's one of those things where and he was on the
• 8:52
  nflpa's All Pro team. He's going to be on more All Pro teams and
• 8:56
  pro gonna be on any pro Anybody who's voting with that, look, you

  know, I've voted in that thing long enough to know everyone's going to criticize

  your ballot no matter what you do. I say that going in, But

  that one I didn't personally get, And I will ask other voters when I

  see them, you know, down the road here at the combine or whatever,

  you know, Hey, who'd you put a corner? Because I'm intrigued

  to know what people's rationale was. But there are not four cornerbacks on Planet

  Earth better than passer ten. All right, lady, there's a report and

  it's a guy out of New York, and I'm not familiar with his work,

  but he appears, it appears it could be legit saying Caleb Williams Camp

  is maybe telling the Chicago Bears, if you're not training that pick, don't

  pick me. Do you think Caleb Williams is he really going to try to

  control where he goes? Have you heard any rumors to that effect, Jet

  as to what this kid may do. No, it's probably a little early

  for that, Andy, honestly, I mean they you know, nobody knows

  that if the Bears are going to ride with Justin Fields, they could trade

  the pick or whatever. But I think it's a little early for that type

  of report. And maybe he said something offhanded to somebody, you know.

  I don't know that. I'll know a little more after the Senior Bowl.

  I'm gonna go to the Senior Bowl for a couple of days, so be

  some good gossip about all that there, So we'll we'll see. But it

  would it would surprise me this early to be flexing like that right now,

  Even when Eli Manning did it and even when John did it to a certain

  extent, they didn't do it this early. You kind of wait and see

  where the chips are falling a little bit and then go from there. Yeah.

  I thought it was wild to see that report today. Interesting stuff that's

  Let's dive into the matchups a little bit right here. Andy and I were

  having the conversation earlier. What underdog do we like the most this weekend?

  I'm on the Rams, he is on the Dolphins. Who is your favorite
• 11:03
  underdog this weekend? On Super wild Card Weekend? We all, I think
• 11:13
  you guys pick two good ones. I mean I like I like La because
• 11:16
  you don't know how Detroit's going to react to the to the whole. You
• 11:22
  know, it's been a while, and that matters. Really. You can
• 11:26
  you can get too adrenalized, if that makes sense. I mean, you
• 11:30
  can really be fired up beyond belief and then not, you know, sort
• 11:35
  of hit the wall at halftime and it doesn't look very good moving forward.
• 11:37
  So that is one to watch. Uh. It's hard for me to think
• 11:43
  if Miami doesn't rush for like two hundred yards that they could get out of
• 11:48
  there with the with a win. But that's the basis of my thinking,
• 11:52
  Leggy. My thinking is he's gonna have to run the ball, which I
• 11:56
  think they do well, which I think helps him. If he goes out
• 11:58
  there and is he'd be and Mike McDaniel and decides, look at all these
• 12:03
  cool pass plays that you and I talk about all the time, then I
• 12:05
  think it'll be a quick game. Here's the thing, though, is that
• 12:09
  Mike McDaniel's pass plays actually are cool. So we do have to acknowledge that.
• 12:13
  The thing is that bad weather games. It's almost counterintuitive, but in
• 12:18
  bad weather games, every offensive coordinator I know thinks they have the advantage and
• 12:24
  so that often puts the ball in the air more than you would think.
• 12:28
  But yeah, every every guy I know Colin plays in the league, thinks
• 12:31
  he's got a little bit of an advantage when when things are creddy outside,
• 12:35
  but cold is different. You know, that doesn't really affect you know,
• 12:41
  it can affect the footing obviously, but it's but I would expect maybe a
• 12:46
  smidge more passing than maybe we think going in. But it's gonna be like
• 12:50
  catching a brick for those guys. I don't think we can express how that
• 12:54
  ball is gonna feel to those receivers when they when they do throw it,
• 12:58
  he quick before before we get you out of here. I mentioned this to
• 13:03
  Night the other day. Can you just you know, a lot of a
• 13:07
  lot of noise and I get it. We all have fun with our amateur
• 13:11
  draft stuff and move guys around. How much did the one game affect McCarthy
• 13:16
  er penix? The work's been going on for years, right, yeah,
• 13:22
  now that's penex especially pen x is a is an enormous medical question. You
• 13:28
  know. One game situations are sort of like confirmation to the guys who like
• 13:33
  them already, like, okay, now I really like them type of thing.
• 13:37
  But a good scout or a good GM isn't going to be swayed by
• 13:43
  one game. It's going to be added to the information pile. Uh what
• 13:48
  does sway you though? A smidge? It does matter that those games were
• 13:52
  in the biggest stage, because that's the most that's the best kind of environment
• 13:58
  personnel guys like this, the players in they want to see you best on
• 14:01
  best in a tight situation, on plays that matter. And for a lot
• 14:07
  of college teams, there are eight nine games a year where you can just
• 14:09
  breeze through because you're not getting anything really productive out of it. And I
• 14:15
  will say that, so certain games can mean more than the other games,
• 14:20
  but they're not going to be the one thing that sways. And again,
• 14:24
  the Senior Bowl. This is gonna be the best Senior Bowl roster ever just
• 14:28
  because of the juniors and everything. And I look forward to that. Now,
• 14:33
  those one on ones, those will matter to scouts some people because they
• 14:39
  always matter at the Senior Bowl. But this is like the Senior Bowl squared
• 14:41
  this year, and it's going to be really cool to see. If you're
• 14:46
  into the draft that type of thing. The practices are going to be really
• 14:48
