Transcript
- 0:34what is up everybody welcome
- 0:37to lunch with the
- 0:38Clydesdale it is a somber
- 0:42day in the Schweitzer
- 0:44household as my beloved
- 0:46Chicago Bears after a big
- 0:51lead in the second half
- 0:55couldn't hold it in the
- 0:56fourth quarter and let the
- 0:58Vikings come back and win the game and
- 1:05You know what the worst part of it is, too,
- 1:06as I'm getting older?
- 1:08I had to stay up.
- 1:09I had to stay up until
- 1:10eleven thirty last night to
- 1:12watch my team lose,
- 1:15to watch my team lose.
- 1:16So not only do they lose,
- 1:18but now I'm getting less sleep.
- 1:21Now I've got to get up for work.
- 1:23I got to do the whole thing.
- 1:25And it just adds like salt to the wound.
- 1:29Like, really?
- 1:29Really?
- 1:32Really?
- 1:34And they look so good in the first half.
- 1:36So good in the, well, first quarter,
- 1:38really.
- 1:39And then we were down that
- 1:43our top three defensive
- 1:44players were all hurt last night.
- 1:47And by the fourth quarter,
- 1:50you could just tell that
- 1:54they were exhausted.
- 1:56The defense was exhausted.
- 1:57The Vikings made adjustments.
- 1:59And the Bears couldn't
- 2:01counteract that at all.
- 2:06Yeah, Denise.
- 2:08Dinner time is five p.m.
- 2:09Bedtime, eight thirty in our household.
- 2:11Yeah, I normally make it to ten.
- 2:13Ten is kind of my.
- 2:18Is my time, but.
- 2:20Yeah, eleven thirty is rough.
- 2:23Eleven thirty is rough,
- 2:24especially when I stayed up
- 2:25for that Bill's Ravens game
- 2:26on Sunday night.
- 2:29Ken, Ken, Ken.
- 2:30I'm not making excuses.
- 2:32I'm just saying that that's a fact.
- 2:35They still should have tried
- 2:36to win the game.
- 2:37They had it in hand,
- 2:39and the Vikings made the adjustments.
- 2:44Kevin O'Connell's a great coach.
- 2:45Brian Flores is a great defensive coach.
- 2:48They made adjustments.
- 2:50The Bears weren't as quick to adjust,
- 2:53so...
- 2:58Caleb looked really good
- 2:59against a pretty great defense.
- 3:01My Vikes hung on, though.
- 3:04My only problem with the
- 3:05Bears offense is I know
- 3:06Caleb was inconsistent,
- 3:08but it's the false start penalties.
- 3:12It's been a problem all offseason,
- 3:13all training camp.
- 3:14They've been working on it, pounding it,
- 3:16pounding it, and bam,
- 3:18four false start penalties.
- 3:22We're going on two guys.
- 3:23Don't move until I say two.
- 3:28It's crazy.
- 3:33Anyway,
- 3:35I think that there is something to
- 3:39build on there for the Bears.
- 3:40I think we will be better by
- 3:42the end of the year.
- 3:47But I think it's going to be
- 3:47too late in this division.
- 3:50too late um this division's
- 3:52too good with the Packers
- 3:53the Vikings and the Lions
- 3:55it's going to be it's going
- 3:56to be a tough road to hoe
- 3:58uh no matter how good they
- 3:59get to um pre-snap
- 4:06penalties are killers yes
- 4:09four false starts at home not great uh
- 4:18Ken Walters,
- 4:19I will say we did finally get a bad call.
- 4:21That interference call
- 4:22wasn't interference and
- 4:23came and seemed to change dramatically.
- 4:26The game seemed to change
- 4:28dramatically at that point.
- 4:29That holding call was not holding either.
- 4:34When you pancake a guy that's not holding,
- 4:36that's dominating.
- 4:38But I'm not, listen,
- 4:42every game you can say
- 4:43something about the refs,
- 4:44just like you can say
- 4:45something about the judging
- 4:46in every CrossFit event.
- 4:48um so I don't I try not to
- 4:52blame anything on the
- 4:54referees or the judges or
- 4:55anything like that it just
- 4:57is what it is you have to
- 4:58deal with it so yeah eric
- 5:10you're dead on dj moore was
- 5:12wide open caleb missed him
- 5:15yeah caleb pushed
- 5:19You could tell he was
- 5:20pushing second quarter and
- 5:24on because all of his balls
- 5:26were going along.
- 5:29So he was pushing and
- 5:31forcing the ball too much.
- 5:40You Saints fans.
- 5:42I got to ask you,
- 5:42this has nothing to do with
- 5:43playing football.
- 5:45Those yellow jerseys they
- 5:47wore on Sunday hurt my eyes.
- 5:50Am I the only one that
- 5:51thought that if they are
- 5:52going to wear those jerseys
- 5:53all year round?
- 5:55Oh, good Lord, please.
- 5:57Someone, someone put them away.
- 6:00They were God awful.
- 6:03Oh,
- 6:12Caleb reminds me a lot of
- 6:14Lamar when he was younger.
- 6:15If he turns out like Lamar, then woo-hoo,
- 6:18I will take that.
- 6:33What were those unis?
- 6:34Like Timo, Aaron, Brooks, Saints unis.
- 6:37Oh, they were so bad.
- 6:39So bad.
- 6:40Whoever thought that yellow,
- 6:41because I thought they were
- 6:42supposed to be gold.
- 6:45Their team colors are black
- 6:46and gold with a very deep gold.
- 6:50That yellow was awful.
- 6:57Okay.
- 7:07Love the black helmet.
- 7:08I do like the black helmets.
- 7:09I do.
- 7:10I'll give you that.
- 7:17Caleb looked good on the
- 7:17first ten plays there.
- 7:18Scripted and practiced and walked through.
- 7:20But beyond that,
- 7:21he was like seventeen of thirty.
- 7:22Yeah.
- 7:24He was only about fifty
- 7:25percent the rest of the game.
- 7:28And I can't afford gold tariffs.
- 7:30That must be it.
- 7:32The jerseys are now just an
- 7:33ugly yellow because we
- 7:34can't get the gold through the tariffs.
- 7:41completely disagree joseph
- 7:43williams is going to be the
- 7:44starter he's getting better
- 7:45and better he has too many
- 7:47special qualities to give
- 7:49up on him danny dimes look
- 7:54good I'll give you that
- 7:56cross fat he looked really
- 7:57good I actually picked him
- 7:58up on my fantasy league um
- 8:01got rid of tua as my backup
- 8:02and picked up danny dimes so
- 8:13If your defense can't stop J.J.
- 8:15McCarthy, you deserve to lose.
- 8:17If you watch that game in
- 8:19the fourth quarter, J.J.
- 8:20McCarthy put balls into
- 8:23places that only top-tier
- 8:25quarterbacks can put balls.
- 8:31He looked good.
- 8:33I hate to say that, but he looked good.
- 8:42All right, guys.
- 8:44that's the bears game we
- 8:45will move move on yes mark
- 8:49that was jj mccarthy's
- 8:50first start he was out
- 8:52injured all last year just
- 9:00notice the strong like
- 9:01moose t there she's at our
- 9:03gym I love freya freya's
- 9:05one of my favorite people in the world um
- 9:09had her on the show a couple
- 9:10times I've chatted with her
- 9:12at waterpalooza um she's
- 9:15she's awesome where are you
- 9:18at uh five a.m squat club
- 9:20is she back in canada I
- 9:21don't even I haven't
- 9:23followed up with her much
- 9:24in the last uh twelve
- 9:26months so curious where she's at
- 9:42Ottawa.
- 9:43Okay, cool.
- 9:52Okay, so there we go.
- 9:54In CrossFit news,
- 9:56I don't know if you guys saw,
- 9:57but it was announced
- 9:58yesterday by
- 9:59Tierwaterpalooza that Alex
- 10:02Kazan will not participate
- 10:05in the SoCal event,
- 10:07the team competition North
- 10:10America versus the world.
- 10:12And so they actually
- 10:13yesterday put out a poll.
- 10:15Who do you want to see?
- 10:17The top vote getters were
- 10:19Olivia Kerstetter, Ariel Loewen,
- 10:23Brooke Wells and Emily Rolfe.
- 10:26And they then decided to go
- 10:30with Olivia Kerstetter.
- 10:35So Olivia Kerstetter will be
- 10:36filling in for Alex Kazan
- 10:39at Tierwater Palooza SoCal.
- 10:42Probably actually improves the team,
- 10:45which is hard to say
- 10:46because Alex is so phenomenal.
- 10:48But the one thing that...
- 10:52The North American team did
- 10:53not have was top end
- 10:55strength for the lifts.
- 10:59She is going if if they
- 11:01don't put her in one of the
- 11:03lifts with the either Isabel or Grace.
- 11:08I mean,
- 11:09she'll crush whatever she's in in those.
- 11:12Before it was kind of a
- 11:13foregone conclusion that
- 11:15Tia would win whatever she was in.
- 11:17You could put Olivia against
- 11:18her head to head.
- 11:20Olivia can beat Tia in the lifts.
- 11:23So it's going to be
- 11:23interesting to see how the
- 11:24coaches play this.
- 11:26It actually adds, I think,
- 11:27more intrigue to the event.
- 11:34So yeah,
- 11:35I think this actually adds more interest,
- 11:39especially in those crazy things.
- 11:41So there it is.
- 11:47And I love Alex Kazan.
- 11:48I think she's going to be
- 11:49one of the best female
- 11:50athletes in the space soon.
- 11:55But I just think because of
- 11:57what Olivia's strengths are,
- 11:58it makes this competition
- 12:00more interesting.
- 12:09She probably knows how to
- 12:10pew-pew based on Heppner.
- 12:12She might.
- 12:13Just where she grew up, I mean,
- 12:16that's common.
- 12:17And I'm sure she shot a gun once.
- 12:20If she's been training with Hefner,
- 12:22I'm sure she shot a gun and
- 12:24that is one of the events as well.
- 12:28Uh, Ryan Aldrich.
- 12:28Yeah.
- 12:29Olivia versus Tia and the
- 12:30lift would be fire.
- 12:32It would, I think,
- 12:33especially if they do grace or Isabel,
- 12:36which I'm assuming you
- 12:37would have cursed or do
- 12:38Isabel because her snatch
- 12:40is so fast at cycling.
- 12:42She would,
- 12:43I think she would kill whoever
- 12:45she was put up against.
- 12:50Jacob has a range on his land.
- 12:52I know he does.
- 12:53And so I'm sure she has shot something.
- 12:57Now it's just how similar to
- 12:59a real gun is the ERG gun.
- 13:02We'll see.
- 13:06Denise,
- 13:06I just want Alex to be a hundred
- 13:08percent before she goes
- 13:09back to competing.
- 13:10Completely agree.
- 13:11Completely agree.
- 13:18CrossFit,
- 13:18I do wish Alex would just write
- 13:19off the year and focus on next season.
- 13:22I don't disagree with you.
- 13:23I think that's probably a smart move.
- 13:26But as a competitor,
- 13:27I kind of get what they're doing.
- 13:32Maybe she needs that hope of
- 13:34the possibility while training right now.
- 13:40But... And she probably
- 13:43wants that guaranteed money of the...
- 13:48WFP next year and she has a
- 13:50five hundred points she
- 13:52doesn't need a whole lot
- 13:53more in the next one if she
- 13:54can just have a decent
- 13:55finish she will probably
- 13:57finish with a tour card and
- 13:59guaranteed money and so I
- 14:02having that to fund your
- 14:03season isn't a bad thing
- 14:06either the laser guns
- 14:11easier there's no recoil I
- 14:14know they had it at the age
- 14:15group games for people to try out
- 14:18I believe.
- 14:23Because Carolyn said she
- 14:24tried it and was terrible at it.
- 14:28So, yeah,
- 14:30I think they had it there to try out.
- 14:37They need to replace Felner.
- 14:41I'm not saying they need to
- 14:42replace Vellner,
- 14:43but I think it's a crime
- 14:45that James Sprague is not on the team.
- 14:50But I've talked about that enough.
- 14:53It's their invitational type thing.
- 14:56They get to invite whoever they want.
- 15:01if a WFP athlete misses an event,
- 15:03do they get docked money?
- 15:05So my understanding is their
- 15:06contract is that if they miss an event,
- 15:10so there were three events
- 15:11this year and say, just for easy math,
- 15:15you were,
- 15:15you were paid three thousand
- 15:17dollars for the season and
- 15:19you have three events and
- 15:21one of those three events
- 15:23you didn't attend,
- 15:24one thousand dollars would
- 15:25be pulled from your guarantee.
- 15:28So then the most you could
- 15:29make would be two thousand dollars.
- 15:31So that's how I understand it.
- 15:34It is based on percentages.
- 15:36So equal percentages for each event.
- 15:40And then that percentage is
- 15:41taken out of your annual salary.
- 15:43If you do not like Haley
- 15:46Adams would get no money at this point.
- 15:48If she shows up to Copenhagen,
- 15:50she would get one third of
- 15:51what she was guaranteed.
- 16:01um then he said yeah it was
- 16:04there I never got a chance
- 16:05to try it uh cindy uh
- 16:08denise's training partner
- 16:09is competing at socal in
- 16:11the fifty plus she didn't
- 16:13get a chance to try the air
- 16:14gun either yeah but it was
- 16:21there it was there for
- 16:22everybody to try so so cool with that
- 16:37Does the money they don't
- 16:38pay out go to a prize cap
- 16:39or Will's vacation fund?
- 16:43I think it goes to Will's vacation fund.
- 16:45I think the reality is that
- 16:46it actually goes back just
- 16:48to the owners in their pot
- 16:50of money to move forward
- 16:51with the league itself.
- 16:56And nothing,
- 16:57really nothing more than that.
- 17:04Are they employees or contractors of WFP?
- 17:07I think they are contractors.
- 17:12I don't think they're a
- 17:13full-time employee.
- 17:14They're just contracted in.
- 17:25I don't think we will ever
- 17:26know the answer to that question, Bubba.
- 17:30But I'm betting it's more than...
- 17:34I think it is.
- 17:46So there is that.
- 17:51I think,
- 17:51but I do think that makes SoCal
- 17:53much more interesting now.
- 17:55So I'm excited about that.
- 17:58All right.
- 18:03next thing I want to talk
- 18:04about and I don't have a
- 18:05ton of time today so I have
- 18:07to be at a one o'clock
- 18:08meeting and that is that uh
- 18:12I've said all along that I
- 18:13love the new crossfit
- 18:15campaign like um what what
- 18:22what's the it's f the
- 18:23solution f the we are the
- 18:25cure um whatever it is and
- 18:28I've always said that I
- 18:29like that marketing campaign if they have
- 18:32The thing that we're all
- 18:34going to unite and fight against.
- 18:38And what I think it is now, yes,
- 18:43F the quick fix, we are the cure.
- 18:48And what they're actually
- 18:49fighting against and what
- 18:50they're trying to unify
- 18:51behind is the GLP-I's.
- 18:56I just watched the CrossFit
- 18:57podcast this morning with Denise Thomas,
- 19:02Jocelyn Riley, Joe Alexander,
- 19:05and Tom McCoy talking about
- 19:06the GLP-I's and the
- 19:09epidemic that it has become.
- 19:14And what I think is they're
- 19:17trying to talk about...
- 19:21that there are medical
- 19:22reasons for the GLP ones,
- 19:24but it is being abused and
- 19:27people are being left
- 19:28abandoned after being given it.
- 19:33Essentially what they,
- 19:34they said in this thing is
- 19:38doctors are prescribing it
- 19:41and eventually insurance
- 19:42companies are withdrawing
- 19:44their commitment to pay for it.
- 19:46And then it's leaving people
- 19:48with this solution that they had.
- 19:51and no way to pay for it.
- 19:54And in addition to that,
- 19:58there is side effects to it
- 20:00that people aren't realizing.
- 20:02Because not only does it promote fat loss,
- 20:05but it promotes muscle loss
- 20:07and bone density loss.
- 20:09And when you're losing those two things,
- 20:12The bone density piece,
- 20:14we all know we don't want
- 20:15to grow older with brittle bones.
- 20:17And then when you lose the muscle mass,
- 20:19it actually slows down your metabolism.
- 20:21We all know we're supposed
- 20:23to have so much protein
- 20:24intake and we want to
- 20:27retain as much muscle as
- 20:28possible because that
- 20:29muscle keeps the metabolism
- 20:32fired up and moving.
- 20:35And so the side effect is
- 20:37that because of the muscle loss,
- 20:39when you go off of the GLP-I,
- 20:42you actually gain the
- 20:43weight faster than you did
- 20:45before because you don't
- 20:47have the muscle mass to
- 20:49burn the calories.
- 20:56So...
- 20:59I thought they were very fair.
- 21:01And it's probably one of the
- 21:02best CrossFit podcasts I've seen.
- 21:04They went live with it.
- 21:05They took questions.
- 21:07It was very good.
- 21:09And they were very careful to say, like,
- 21:11there are reasons why
- 21:12people are prescribed this.
- 21:16But they need to learn the
- 21:18tools and have the community around them
- 21:22If they're going to go down this road,
- 21:23they need to learn how to
- 21:25do things the right way,
- 21:27not just rely on the
- 21:29medicine to get them where
- 21:31they want to go.
- 21:34And this really hits home for me.
- 21:36Like I have struggled with
- 21:38weight loss my entire life.
- 21:41I grew up as a swimmer
- 21:43swimming five to six hours a day.
- 21:46I could eat whatever I wanted.
- 21:49I didn't really understand
- 21:50the nutritional thing as I
- 21:51was growing up.
- 21:52I was just trying to get
- 21:53calories in because I was
- 21:54burning so many in a day.
- 21:58And then you come off of
- 21:59that and you don't have any
- 22:01of the tools with you.
- 22:03And so over the rest of my life,
- 22:05I've struggled trying to
- 22:07figure out that plan.
- 22:12And it's, so I feel for them.
- 22:16I see that I,
- 22:21just like a fringe athlete
- 22:24looking at anabolic
- 22:25steroids or human growth
- 22:28hormone is a way to get
- 22:29them over the top.
- 22:31As an overweight person,
- 22:33it is very tempting to look
- 22:35at this shot that can help
- 22:37me get back to where I want to be
- 22:40but knowing that it's not
- 22:42the right thing to do.
- 22:44So it's a constant struggle.
- 22:47And if I,
- 22:48who have this CrossFit background,
- 22:51lost a lot of weight through CrossFit,
- 22:54through nutrition, through all of that,
- 22:57can see this temptation and
- 22:58feel this temptation,
- 23:00what is going through the
- 23:02minds of all these people
- 23:03that don't know what the solution is?
- 23:07It is...
- 23:10it is becoming such an epidemic.
- 23:13And I think that if CrossFit,
- 23:17this is the fight, this is the new enemy.
- 23:21I think that's heading in
- 23:22the right direction.
- 23:23I think we are finally
- 23:25getting aligned behind that
- 23:27one thing that can unite
- 23:29the community and be the
- 23:31one thing we fight against.
- 23:35And
- 23:38And I hope that it goes hand
- 23:39in hand with that marketing
- 23:46campaign to move forward
- 23:49and fight the GLP-I's.
- 23:51I know there's a lot of comments here.
- 23:56Claire,
- 23:57also the conversation posted today
- 23:58between Jocelyn and Dr.
- 24:00Fung had really insightful perspective.
- 24:02That is my next watch.
- 24:04So I'm going to watch that
- 24:05tonight and be ready to
- 24:07talk about that tomorrow.
- 24:14Serena was paid to GOP one.
- 24:17Do we know if she actually took it?
- 24:19She says she has come out
- 24:20and said she takes it.
- 24:22The crazy thing about this
- 24:23is her husband sits on the
- 24:26board of row and row is the
- 24:30company she's taking the GLP one from.
- 24:41Um,
- 24:43Trish Bucci, CrossFit, F the quick fix.
- 24:46Serena is in a GOP One commercial.
- 24:48They say it's a quick fix.
- 24:49That's not just a coincidence, right?
- 24:51I don't think it is a coincidence at all.
- 24:57Lito,
- 24:57I don't think they're making them the
- 24:58enemy, though, nor that they should.
- 25:02As, like you said,
- 25:03they can be a lifeline for
- 25:05a lot of people.
- 25:06Right, right.
- 25:07The enemy is the abuse of it, Lito.
- 25:12The enemy is the abuse of this,
- 25:14that there are millions of
- 25:14people just given this as
- 25:16the answer with no tools,
- 25:18no way to handle it,
- 25:20and no easy way to come off of it.
- 25:29I was shocked by the sleep
- 25:30apnea ad for them last
- 25:31night on Monday Night Football.
- 25:33Yeah.
- 25:34Yeah.
- 25:36Well,
- 25:36and they go into this on this podcast
- 25:38about how it's it's just
- 25:40the beginning for the
- 25:41pharmaceutical company
- 25:43because they know that it
- 25:44contributes to muscle loss
- 25:46and to bone density issues.
- 25:49They're already working on
- 25:51pharmaceuticals to combat
- 25:53that to package with the GLP ones.
- 25:57So you take the GLP one,
- 25:59you lose the muscle,
- 25:59you lose the bone density,
- 26:01and then you have to take
- 26:02another pill to get that back.
- 26:04or to get the building of that back.
- 26:08It is a vicious cycle.
- 26:09That is what the
- 26:09pharmaceutical companies do.
- 26:12They not only look for the answer,
- 26:15they look for the answer to
- 26:16the side effects that come
- 26:18from the first answer so
- 26:20that it's just one shot or
- 26:22pill after another, after another,
- 26:25after another.
- 26:33Another crazy thing about
- 26:34the GLP ones is that you
- 26:35need to take them for the
- 26:36rest of your life.
- 26:37Once you stop your health
- 26:38deteriorates and you're
- 26:40worse off than before you started.
- 26:42Right.
- 26:42And they were saying that,
- 26:43and then the health
- 26:44insurances stop paying for it.
- 26:46So they're leaving people in the lurch.
- 26:55Elise Bone or Bon,
- 26:57you have said it a few
- 26:58times and it is key.
- 27:00The medication is just a tool.
- 27:01Along with the tool,
- 27:02there needs to be education
- 27:04around diet and exercise.
- 27:17Yeah, I think this is key, Elise.
- 27:19If you make the lifestyle
- 27:20changes along with it,
- 27:22Now, Dr. Tom McCoy,
- 27:23who actually was my doctor
- 27:25when I was with Wild Health,
- 27:27he's a great dude.
- 27:28He is a CrossFit MD L-I,
- 27:32and I'm glad they're using
- 27:33him in these things because
- 27:35in our one-on-one
- 27:36consultations and the
- 27:40weight issues I was facing,
- 27:42he was very much about the
- 27:45lifestyle changes that needed to happen.
- 27:48Um,
- 27:48so I've experienced his medical
- 27:51practice firsthand and I
- 27:53trust him when he, when he speaks.
- 27:56And that is what he is saying.
- 27:59He's saying that once you take a GLP one,
- 28:02You already, before you take that,
- 28:04the amount of protein you
- 28:05need to get in in a day is
- 28:07very hard to do.
- 28:08We struggle to get people to
- 28:11have that much protein intake in a day.
- 28:13The minute you take a GLP-I,
- 28:15it's at least two hundred
- 28:16grams of protein a day.
- 28:18And just imagine how
- 28:19difficult it would be to
- 28:22have that much protein
- 28:23intake and how much of a
- 28:25concerted effort that would
- 28:27take to get there.
- 28:30It is insanity.
- 28:33But those are the lifestyle
- 28:35changes that you need to
- 28:36seek out if you are going
- 28:39to go down this road.
- 28:46The other thing that I
- 28:47thought was very important
- 28:48and kind of speaks to what
- 28:49Elise said is that it's not
- 28:51about judgment.
- 28:52It's about having a way to
- 28:56support people who need
- 28:58this as a medical tool.
- 29:01as a medical solution.
- 29:05Jocelyn Riley, who owns an affiliate,
- 29:08says she wants to have a
- 29:09class specifically designed
- 29:12to help people who have had
- 29:15to go on GLP-I's and to
- 29:20cater the classes and the
- 29:22nutrition that they learn
- 29:25to that specific thing.
- 29:29But again,
- 29:30not everybody should be going
- 29:31down this path, but those that have,
- 29:36there are answers and there
- 29:37are solutions to
- 29:38surrounding yourself with
- 29:39the right community and the
- 29:41right lifestyle choices.
- 29:49Do you think we need more
- 29:50meds now because of the
- 29:51crap food companies make?
- 29:54I think we need more
- 29:55supplementation because of
- 29:57the crap food companies make.
- 30:00And that gets to be a vicious cycle too.
- 30:02Like what are the good supplements?
- 30:04What are the ones that are actually pure?
- 30:06What are the ones that
- 30:06actually make sense?
- 30:11The kid that's working a
- 30:12high school job at GNC
- 30:13probably doesn't have those answers,
- 30:15right?
- 30:26Um, uh, Jeff,
- 30:30my company dropped coverage
- 30:31for the drugs because of
- 30:33one office and a doctor
- 30:35with a loose script pad.
- 30:36Yeah.
- 30:37The state of Ohio dropped
- 30:39coverage for GLP ones too,
- 30:41unless you meet their
- 30:43requirements of a diabetic.
- 30:46Um,
- 30:49and now that's the only way they'll
- 30:51even pay for it at all.
- 30:53And that's still an iffy proposition.
- 31:01Stop buying and eating the crap food.
- 31:03One thing I learned when I
- 31:04went fully into research,
- 31:06when I lost my two hundred
- 31:07and fifty pounds, is that as a society,
- 31:11even the good food is being picked early.
- 31:14It's they try to age it on a shelf.
- 31:16It doesn't have the
- 31:17nutrients it used to have.
- 31:19We have really screwed up
- 31:21our food system in this country.
- 31:32Five a.m.
- 31:33squat club.
- 31:33I moved to the country and
- 31:35raised sheep and cattle
- 31:36because the food system is effed.
- 31:42Shanna,
- 31:43the problem is the body has evolved
- 31:44over thousands of years to
- 31:45be moving and eating whole foods,
- 31:47not life hack drug.
- 31:49We'll ever not have bad side effects.
- 31:52The side effects take years.
- 32:08This reminds me of bariatric surgery,
- 32:10twenty years ago.
- 32:13Yeah, whenever as someone like, honestly,
- 32:17guys,
- 32:17I struggle with this every single day.
- 32:20I've not done bariatrics,
- 32:21I've not done GLP ones,
- 32:24but I struggle every single
- 32:26day with this fight.
- 32:29When people have answers,
- 32:31you're looking for answers,
- 32:33you're looking for ways to
- 32:34find a way out and you look
- 32:37into these things.
- 32:39And thank God I've had the
- 32:40willpower in that direction
- 32:42to not go down those paths.
- 32:45But you're talking to people
- 32:46that don't have a ton of
- 32:48willpower to begin with.
- 32:49And then you're giving them
- 32:51extra temptations on a
- 32:53solution to the lack of
- 32:54willpower by advertising to
- 32:57their lack of willpower.
- 32:59It's a vicious, vicious cycle.
- 33:10We have engineered ourselves into illness.
- 33:15That's very well said.
- 33:20More people requires more produced foods,
- 33:22sadly.
- 33:39TRT is easier than nutrition and sleep,
- 33:42and it works with bad sleep.
- 33:48There's shortcuts everywhere.
- 33:49It's not just about weight loss.
- 33:51It's, you know, the TRT thing is big.
- 33:55There are tons of peptides
- 33:56out there for a variety of reasons.
- 34:04It's crazy.
- 34:12Why do you deem it as a temptation?
- 34:14That language is very specific.
- 34:16I'm just giving you my thoughts as an,
- 34:18as a person who has
- 34:19struggled with weight loss
- 34:21my entire life.
- 34:22And that is that food is tempting.
- 34:26The solutions are tempting.
- 34:29Every day is a fight over
- 34:34these things that are put
- 34:35in front of you as either a
- 34:38food that you shouldn't eat
- 34:40or a solution to get over
- 34:42the food that you shouldn't eat.
- 34:44And what I'm saying is a
- 34:47person that is already
- 34:48overweight has an addictive
- 34:50personality and they face
- 34:51temptation every day.
- 34:54the way the ad campaigns are
- 34:55for the GLP ones is they
- 34:58are targeting the people
- 34:59that have those addictions
- 35:01and have those temptations
- 35:02in front of them with a temptation of,
- 35:05Hey,
- 35:05we can fix the solution and you don't
- 35:08have to put any work into it.
- 35:12And when Serena Williams comes on and says,
- 35:15this is the new health system,
- 35:17like that's crazy talk.
- 35:21I mean,
- 35:21thank God I found a CrossFit gym
- 35:23years ago that taught me
- 35:25the bottom part of the
- 35:26pyramid and that I have
- 35:27some knowledge behind me
- 35:29and I don't just dive into these things.
- 35:31But there's millions of
- 35:32people that don't have that education.
- 35:44Having community when you
- 35:45are trying to make healthy
- 35:46changes is crucial.
- 35:47When I started taking care of my body,
- 35:48I actually lost friends.
- 35:50But CrossFit helped me
- 35:51connect with people who can
- 35:52help motivate.
- 35:53Amen, sister.
- 35:55I remember I first started CrossFit.
- 35:57You would go to the parties
- 35:58with the CrossFit friends,
- 36:00and the food there were
- 36:01good food choices.
- 36:03They weren't processed foods.
- 36:05You all ate the same.
- 36:08It made getting through
- 36:09those initial steps of weight loss much,
- 36:12much easier.
- 36:16It's the addiction we are
- 36:17forced to microdose for health.
- 36:34What is more accurate,
- 36:35CrossFit is the cure or
- 36:37CrossFit is a cure?
- 36:45Probably the latter.
- 36:48but how many other places
- 36:50offer a community
- 36:51environment to love on you in the,
- 36:54in the tough times and the
- 36:57way to move your body in a
- 36:59way that's healthy and good
- 37:00for it and surround you
- 37:02with people that can teach
- 37:03you the base of the pyramid,
- 37:06which is proper nutrition.
- 37:10It may be a cure, but it's
- 37:15one of the limited number of
- 37:17cures out there.
- 37:27CrossFit is a tool just like medication.
- 37:38Yeah, this is great.
- 37:39CrossFat.
- 37:40Medicine is discovering the
- 37:41power of direct-to-consumer,
- 37:43and that should scare folks.
- 37:45Yeah,
- 37:45there's only two countries in the
- 37:46world that allow direct
- 37:48marketing of
- 37:49pharmaceuticals to the general public,
- 37:52and we are one of them.
- 38:09Jeff Mako telling someone
- 38:10who is morbidly obese to
- 38:11just stop eating and start
- 38:12walking is like telling
- 38:14someone who is clinically
- 38:15depressed to just go
- 38:15outside and touch grass and be happy.
- 38:29Scott,
- 38:29not all CrossFit gyms are supportive
- 38:31as you're describing.
- 38:32I'm sure.
- 38:33Just like anything in this world,
- 38:35there are good and bad.
- 38:37My experiences at CrossFit gyms,
- 38:38at the two that I've been a member of,
- 38:40have been amazing.
- 38:42The community was amazing.
- 38:44The support was amazing.
- 38:47So I can only go by what I experienced,
- 38:50but I have dropped into
- 38:51gyms where I didn't see the
- 38:54same care that I got at my home gyms.
- 38:57And I've dropped into other
- 38:58gyms where I got the same
- 39:00care and maybe even more
- 39:02than I got at my home gyms.
- 39:04So I know it varies.
- 39:06Before I was in this current position,
- 39:08I traveled a lot throughout the Midwest.
- 39:11I dropped into gyms all the time.
- 39:13And I would say eighty
- 39:14percent of them were freaking awesome.
- 39:17But there were twenty
- 39:18percent that were pretty bad.
- 39:21And so I know that it's not
- 39:23always the answer.
- 39:27There are no absolutes in the world.
- 39:39Yeah.
- 39:40John George really messed
- 39:41that her husband sits on a
- 39:42board of the pharma company.
- 39:43What a joke.
- 39:45I didn't know that until I
- 39:46watched this podcast.
- 40:04Jeff, you can say that about just gyms,
- 40:05but HQ pushing this message helps.
- 40:07I visited a gym that had a
- 40:09QR code for game day men's health.
- 40:22And Jeff understands.
- 40:24Yeah.
- 40:24Yeah.
- 40:25Yeah, you can say that about all gyms.
- 40:26They're good and bad all around the world.
- 40:29But I would say that the hit
- 40:31rate on good CrossFit gyms
- 40:34has been pretty high for me.
- 40:36And I've dropped into a lot
- 40:37of gyms in my time.
- 40:45CrossFit gym pushing TRT was crazy.
- 40:47That is crazy.
- 40:55Yeah.
- 41:01Um, every day is an opportunity.
- 41:02Have you looked into Serena's full story?
- 41:04I keep seeing people speak on her,
- 41:06but fail to mention everything else.
- 41:08Um, I haven't looked into it fully.
- 41:10I was a fan of hers.
- 41:11Uh, when she played tennis,
- 41:13she's one of the greatest
- 41:14female athletes I've ever seen in my,
- 41:17in my fifty five years.
- 41:19Um,
- 41:19but I'm not here to attack her for
- 41:21doing what she's doing.
- 41:22If, if it's medically needed for her, um,
- 41:27then then that's okay I'm
- 41:29not here saying that you
- 41:30shouldn't do these I'm
- 41:31saying that you do need to
- 41:36learn the proper tools and
- 41:38be surrounded by the right
- 41:39community if you're going
- 41:40to go down this road road
- 41:43and it is the thing that
- 41:45you need to get to where you're going
- 41:54It's hard to process because
- 41:55she was the face of this is
- 41:56a functional body.
- 41:58Right.
- 41:58Serena never looked... She
- 42:04was the person that was
- 42:05okay to have a lot of
- 42:06muscle and to have the body
- 42:09that could perform...
- 42:13And to see her shrink down
- 42:16to what she is is really hard to watch.
- 42:20And I think that's why it's
- 42:21impacting people's opinions so much.
- 42:33Jake, every time I hear the G.I.
- 42:34Joe type saying it's just a
- 42:36lack of willpower as if
- 42:37it's something people can just decide,
- 42:39I shudder.
- 42:40Must be nice to be perfect, eh?
- 42:43Well,
- 42:43and also you have to factor in
- 42:44there's some doctors saying do this.
- 42:48They're telling their patients to do this.
- 42:51My parents' generation,
- 42:53if the doctor told you to do something,
- 42:55you did it.
- 42:56You didn't question it.
- 42:59Now,
- 42:59some of us have learned that over time
- 43:01that maybe that's not the
- 43:02right answer or that you
- 43:04need to find a different
- 43:05medical professional.
- 43:07But that's the way it is for
- 43:08a lot of people in this world.
- 43:25So Chris Beesterfield,
- 43:29question everything.
- 43:31I think that's what we've learned,
- 43:33that because of the way
- 43:34things are done in this
- 43:35country now with
- 43:36direct-to-consumer
- 43:37marketing of pharmaceuticals,
- 43:40things like that,
- 43:41that we do need to question everything.
- 43:43We do need to verify.
- 43:44We do need to check.
- 43:46Elise is banging that home.
- 43:49I just think that some
- 43:52generations haven't learned
- 43:53that yet and are just being
- 43:55given these drugs with no
- 43:58tools and no way out.
- 44:06Western doctors are trained
- 44:07to treat symptoms and not
- 44:08look for the underlying
- 44:09causes and treat those instead.
- 44:12I've got a great story for that,
- 44:14a personal story,
- 44:15but I'm going to have to
- 44:16get to it tomorrow.
- 44:18or Thursday because
- 44:19tomorrow's Cajun Day with Corey.
- 44:21But thank you all for this
- 44:23great discussion.
- 44:24I think this is something we
- 44:25need to talk about moving
- 44:26forward a little bit more.
- 44:29But don't forget to like and
- 44:30subscribe to the channel.
- 44:31Guys,
- 44:32we're about fifty subscribers away
- 44:35from three thousand.
- 44:36Love to get there by the end of the year.
- 44:39um I hope we can get there
- 44:40um but I want to keep these
- 44:41discussions up as someone
- 44:43who has fought this fight
- 44:44for so long um I want to
- 44:47keep this fresh and moving
- 44:49with that thank you so much
- 44:50for being here I got to get
- 44:52to my meeting you
- 44:53knuckleheads get back to
- 44:54work too and we will see
- 44:55everybody next time on
- 44:57lunch with the client sale bye guys
