- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello everyone, and welcome into another episode of The Checko Daily.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's Andrew de Checo, Eagles beat reporter for insidethbirds dot Com,
- 0:16Speaker 1: with you.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Hope everyone's enjoying.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Their summer and the content rolls on, of course, and
- 0:23Speaker 1: today I want to take a look back at the
- 0:25Speaker 1: twenty twenty five Eagles draft class, look at the seasons
- 0:29Speaker 1: that those players had, and then try to project what
- 0:33Speaker 1: their roles.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Will entail in twenty twenty six.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Little question as to the role that linebacker Jehid Campbell
- 0:42Speaker 1: will have. But let's go back a moment, because the
- 0:45Speaker 1: Eagles drafted Jahid Campbell in the first round last season,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and he started ten of the seventeen games in which
- 0:52Speaker 1: he appeared. I thought he did some really positive things.
- 0:56Speaker 1: He had an interception, a few passes defended. You could
- 0:59Speaker 1: see the athleteticism and range that he had, and it's
- 1:02Speaker 1: not hard to sort of forecast what he can become
- 1:06Speaker 1: playing opposite Zach Bond. I do believe that Zach Bond
- 1:10Speaker 1: and Jahad Campbell compliment each other fairly well from a
- 1:12Speaker 1: skill set standpoint, and as the thirty first pick in
- 1:17Speaker 1: that draft, I don't think anyone envisioned Jahad Campbell following
- 1:21Speaker 1: that far. But last season, what I saw was a
- 1:24Speaker 1: player that you could see the range and the athleticism.
- 1:27Speaker 1: He has good length, He's effective at rushing the quarterback.
- 1:31Speaker 2: He picked things up pretty quickly.
- 1:32Speaker 1: If you remember, he didn't end up missing any time
- 1:35Speaker 1: in training camp. There was a sort of an onboarding
- 1:38Speaker 1: process early on, but he ended up starting week one
- 1:42Speaker 1: and not really looking back now, he ended up giving
- 1:46Speaker 1: up his starting spot to Nakobe Dean. But I've said
- 1:48Speaker 1: this before and I maintained this. It had nothing to
- 1:52Speaker 1: do with, at least in my estimation, what Jahad Campbell
- 1:55Speaker 1: was doing or not doing on the field as much
- 1:57Speaker 1: as it had to do with Vic Vangio and his
- 2:00Speaker 1: trust and confidence in the Kobe Dean, especially as a
- 2:03Speaker 1: run defender, which is one question that I think is
- 2:06Speaker 1: fair to have about Jahad Campbell going into twenty twenty six.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Because the Kobe was so instinctual and attacked the line
- 2:13Speaker 1: of scrimmage and was always in the right place at
- 2:15Speaker 1: the right time. That's something that Vic vangel I'm sure prioritized.
- 2:20Speaker 1: There's not a lot of guesswork when it comes to
- 2:21Speaker 1: someone like that. He was able to be the quarterback
- 2:24Speaker 1: of the defense. But Jahad Campbell will fill those shoes
- 2:27Speaker 1: this year, not as the quarterback of the defense, of course,
- 2:30Speaker 1: but as someone who's stepping into the shoes of someone
- 2:33Speaker 1: who was a highly productive player for the franchise. He
- 2:37Speaker 1: has experience to draw from, and you'd like to see
- 2:41Speaker 1: him get a little bit stronger.
- 2:42Speaker 2: But first and foremost, you want to.
- 2:43Speaker 3: See that his shoulder is healthy, because he missed spring
- 2:47Speaker 3: practices as he's recovering from the shoulder, and I sort
- 2:53Speaker 3: of think that he's going to pick up where he
- 2:56Speaker 3: left off. He didn't have a poor rookie season by
- 2:59Speaker 3: any means.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I thought he was solid, and he offered glimpses of
- 3:03Speaker 1: the player.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That he can be in this defense.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And now he has another year that he's going to
- 3:10Speaker 1: be sort of familiar with the coaching of linebackers coach
- 3:13Speaker 1: Bobby King, the specifics that Vic vangel wants from his
- 3:19Speaker 1: linebackers and the demands there. So Jehatt Campbell is someone
- 3:25Speaker 1: who you don't have a ton of questions about. I
- 3:28Speaker 1: do go back to how he's gonna fare and run support,
- 3:32Speaker 1: and until you see it consistently, it's a fair question.
- 3:36Speaker 1: When you're pivoting from someone like Nikobe Dean who thrived
- 3:41Speaker 1: in that capacity. But that's one of the and I
- 3:44Speaker 1: don't even know if you can call it a question,
- 3:46Speaker 1: but it's one of the few areas that you may
- 3:48Speaker 1: look at it and need to see a little bit
- 3:50Speaker 1: more before you feel fully confident. But that's Jehatt Campbell
- 3:55Speaker 1: and his outlook going into the twenty twenty sixth season.
- 3:58Speaker 1: In the second round, the Eagles took safety Drew mccoba
- 4:01Speaker 1: sixty fourth overall. I had a very high draft grade
- 4:05Speaker 1: on Macuba. I understand that he doesn't have prototypical size,
- 4:09Speaker 1: which is why there were many who were under the
- 4:12Speaker 1: impression that I, in my mock drafts were reaching for Macuba.
- 4:16Speaker 2: But I never quite saw it that way.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I took into account the football intellect that he brings,
- 4:21Speaker 1: the ranginess, the ability to allow Vicvangio to be or
- 4:27Speaker 1: his ability to be multiple but giving vic Vangio the
- 4:30Speaker 1: flexibility to do some different things with him on the
- 4:33Speaker 1: back end, and you couple all that into someone who
- 4:36Speaker 1: is a playmaker.
- 4:38Speaker 2: He can take the football away.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Sure, you're going to have those durability concerns because mccooba
- 4:43Speaker 1: is not the biggest guy in the world. And I
- 4:45Speaker 1: think you saw early on last season that that's a
- 4:48Speaker 1: difficult position to master, even for someone of that high
- 4:51Speaker 1: level of football intelligence like Mcuba, because of the specifics,
- 4:56Speaker 1: the different demands that are required from the safety spot,
- 4:59Speaker 1: and I think early on you saw reblanketshep having to
- 5:03Speaker 1: account for that, and he wasn't necessarily able to turn
- 5:05Speaker 1: it lose fully. But as the season more on, Macuba
- 5:10Speaker 1: seemed to be settling in. He was playing with more confidence,
- 5:13Speaker 1: he was flowing to the football, he was just operating
- 5:16Speaker 1: like a player that had a firmer grasp on what
- 5:20Speaker 1: his responsibilities were in that defense.
- 5:23Speaker 2: And now, well, he started ten of the.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Eleven games that he appeared in, and then he suffered
- 5:27Speaker 1: a fractured ankle against the Cowboys in Dallas. But he
- 5:32Speaker 1: was taking all the first team reps at safety during
- 5:35Speaker 1: the spring, and we'll see if he's able to kind
- 5:38Speaker 1: of build off of that season, because there were a
- 5:40Speaker 1: lot of positives down the stretch. The growing pains were
- 5:44Speaker 1: apparent early on, But the Eagles have confidence in Macouba.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It seems like Fangio does as well. Joe Casper, the
- 5:52Speaker 1: defensive passing game coidator, certainly does, and he's stepping into
- 5:56Speaker 1: a role where he has to take that top spot
- 5:59Speaker 1: and red blanket ship. For years was the quarterback of
- 6:04Speaker 1: that defense. Now it's going to have to be another player.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I think Macuba has the traits and the intangibles to
- 6:10Speaker 1: be able to check off that box, but he just
- 6:13Speaker 1: needs reps. He needs more opportunities and experience within the defense,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and that's ultimately going to come this season.
- 6:22Speaker 2: But there you have it.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You have your first and second round picks in Jahad
- 6:26Speaker 1: Campbell and Drew mccuba, who are primed to undertake a
- 6:30Speaker 1: much more prominent role in their second seasons. Their trajectory
- 6:34Speaker 1: is trending upwards and according to plan. In the fourth round,
- 6:39Speaker 1: the Eagles took defensive tackle Ty Robinson one hundred and
- 6:43Speaker 1: eleventh overall, and Robinson played in eleven games, logged one
- 6:46Speaker 1: hundred and four defensive snaps. I got more questions last
- 6:50Speaker 1: summer about Ty Robinson, perhaps more than any other player
- 6:53Speaker 1: apart from Lewis scene, and I understand the intrigue there,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but there wasn't a lot to really write about. And
- 7:00Speaker 1: for that is, Ty Robinson didn't really string together any
- 7:05Speaker 1: successful practices. There may have been an occasional spurt or
- 7:09Speaker 1: two that reminded everyone of the player that he was
- 7:12Speaker 1: and the skill set that he has. Potentially once he
- 7:16Speaker 1: is able to dial everything in, but the learning curve
- 7:19Speaker 1: can sometimes be steeper for different players, and for Ty Robinson,
- 7:24Speaker 1: he really wasn't able to fight his way into that rotation,
- 7:27Speaker 1: which was a little surprising because of the experience that
- 7:30Speaker 1: he entered the NFL with.
- 7:31Speaker 2: But it's not a one size fits all.
- 7:34Speaker 1: There's no definitive answer in terms of timelines for different players.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Quinnon Mitchell was able to step right in as a rookie,
- 7:43Speaker 1: Johan Campbell step right in as a rookie, but there
- 7:46Speaker 1: are other players and this isn't a first round pick
- 7:49Speaker 1: that those are extreme cases.
- 7:51Speaker 2: This is Ty Robinson.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But I still thought that he was going to be
- 7:54Speaker 1: able to function as a capable rotational piece for the
- 7:58Speaker 1: Eagles last season.
- 7:59Speaker 2: That did not.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Happen, and there's reasons for that. Vic Fangio isn't going
- 8:04Speaker 1: to put a player on the field if he doesn't
- 8:06Speaker 1: have an abundance of confidence. And regardless of where you
- 8:11Speaker 1: were drafted or how much money you commanded on the
- 8:14Speaker 1: open market as a free agent, Vic Fangio prioritizes consistency
- 8:18Speaker 1: and discipline and being fundamentally sound, and ty Robinson wasn't able.
- 8:23Speaker 2: To do that last season.
- 8:24Speaker 1: But this year, as I mentioned on this podcast, he
- 8:28Speaker 1: looks like he added some strength and added some more
- 8:31Speaker 1: mass to his size. You have that season in the
- 8:34Speaker 1: books already. You know Clint Hurt, the defensive line coach.
- 8:38Speaker 1: If you spent time in that room and sometimes taking
- 8:41Speaker 1: a step back and seeing the game from a different
- 8:43Speaker 1: perspective arms you with a certain kind of experience that
- 8:48Speaker 1: can't be quantified.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And maybe he's able to hit the ground running this year.
- 8:52Speaker 1: They certainly need Ty Robinson to become a player that
- 8:55Speaker 1: they can rely upon. As I mentioned, Moro Jomo and
- 8:58Speaker 1: Byron Young are both entering the fin year of their
- 9:00Speaker 1: rookie deals. So right now I see Ty Robinson as
- 9:05Speaker 1: the fifth defensive tackle with the potential to become the fourth.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But Byron Young is going to have something to say
- 9:10Speaker 1: about that. And Byron Young is one of the more
- 9:12Speaker 1: underrated players at least in my view, on the Eagles roster,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and he certainly answered the bell when his number was.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Called last year.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So Ty Robinson, in order to get on the field
- 9:22Speaker 1: and play meaningful snaps. He's going to have to outplay
- 9:25Speaker 1: Byron Young in training camp. Then you get to the
- 9:28Speaker 1: fifth round, where the Eagles had three picks, the first
- 9:31Speaker 1: of which was cornerback cmcwilliams, who the Eagles took one
- 9:34Speaker 1: hundred and forty fifth overall out of UCF.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Mack McWilliams played in five games last season.
- 9:40Speaker 1: He was buried on the depth chart after flashing a
- 9:43Speaker 1: little bit in training camp. He began as a nickelback
- 9:46Speaker 1: and cross trained outside, and it seemed like Vic Fanjo
- 9:49Speaker 1: was intrigued with what he saw from mc McWilliams early on,
- 9:53Speaker 1: but then he kind of got lost in the shuffle.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Remember there was that battle with a Dori Jackson and
- 9:57Speaker 1: key Lee Ringo. They traded for Jacoreyan Bennett in August
- 10:01Speaker 1: and you had already Quinna Mitchell and Cooper dejen So
- 10:06Speaker 1: it almost was like he.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Was an afterthought. And he doesn't have.
- 10:12Speaker 1: A frame that you would think would support special teams,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and he really didn't factor all that much into special
- 10:17Speaker 1: teams as it were. But later in the season he
- 10:21Speaker 1: locks some defensive snaps. This is a big offseason for him,
- 10:24Speaker 1: much like it is for Ty Robinson because there's an
- 10:26Speaker 1: opportunity to latch on as the final player for Mac
- 10:31Speaker 1: McWilliams in that cornerback room. He does give you positional
- 10:36Speaker 1: versatility at nickelback and outside corner. I don't envision him
- 10:41Speaker 1: cross training at safety, but we'll have to wait and
- 10:43Speaker 1: see on that. Special teams becomes paramount here when you're
- 10:47Speaker 1: trying to forecast where and how he fits. If you're
- 10:50Speaker 1: trying to justify a roster spot for someone like Mac,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and if you don't see him contributing on defense, well
- 10:57Speaker 1: then he has to be someone that you can count
- 10:59Speaker 1: on on game day as a special teams performer. I'll
- 11:02Speaker 1: be keeping an eye on where he is in terms
- 11:05Speaker 1: of his development in that aspect of his game. But
- 11:08Speaker 1: this is a big offseason for him, but there's an
- 11:10Speaker 1: opportunity there. Brandon Johnson has since been waived, and he
- 11:13Speaker 1: gave the Eagles nickelback in safety versatility. He was a
- 11:16Speaker 1: player that I thought the Eagles liked and seemingly they did.
- 11:20Speaker 1: But there's Kapina Gushikin, an undrafted free agent who the
- 11:25Speaker 1: Eagles gave two hundred and seventy two five hundred hours
- 11:28Speaker 1: in total guarantees there are other players that you're gonna
- 11:31Speaker 1: have to monitor, but I would imagine that Mac McWilliams,
- 11:34Speaker 1: with his draft pedigree, with his experience in the defense,
- 11:38Speaker 1: has a leg up over some of those other players.
- 11:41Speaker 1: But that's where we stand right now with Mac McWilliams.
- 11:46Speaker 1: The other fifth round pick, Smile Monden, the linebacker at Georgia,
- 11:48Speaker 1: played one hundred or he was drafted one hundred and
- 11:51Speaker 1: sixty first overall.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Didn't play all that much on defense.
- 11:54Speaker 1: He was caught in the logjam of talent there and
- 11:58Speaker 1: he's not going to leef frog Jeremiah Trotter, who I
- 12:00Speaker 1: think is just a really, really solid football player. But
- 12:04Speaker 1: last summer, Smilemnden really impressed me from his athleticism, his
- 12:08Speaker 1: coverage ability. I go back to a play that he
- 12:10Speaker 1: had running step for step with Saquon Barkway down the
- 12:13Speaker 1: left sideline.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I can still visualize the play on.
- 12:17Speaker 1: A wheel route, and I think that really illustrates the
- 12:20Speaker 1: athleticism and the instincts that he plays the game with.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Problem is, in Philadelphia, barring injury, it's hard to envision
- 12:27Speaker 1: a path.
- 12:28Speaker 2: For smilemond and Junior to get on the field.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But I thought that while he was a key cog
- 12:33Speaker 1: on special teams. Early on, he didn't really make a
- 12:36Speaker 1: ton of plays, and then later in the season it
- 12:38Speaker 1: seemed like he was growing increasingly more comfortable in the
- 12:42Speaker 1: third phase and he was making some plays and he
- 12:45Speaker 1: did play a number of snaps. He finished in the
- 12:48Speaker 1: top five of Eagles in terms of third phase snaps,
- 12:51Speaker 1: and I imagine that that's going to be the role
- 12:53Speaker 1: that he has this year. Things could always change, but
- 12:57Speaker 1: I think Smilemonden is someone that the Eagles are going
- 13:00Speaker 1: to continue.
- 13:00Speaker 2: To work with.
- 13:01Speaker 1: And I go back to what I saw from him
- 13:03Speaker 1: in training camp, the skill set that he demonstrated. Yes,
- 13:08Speaker 1: preseason play offered a little bit of a dose of reality,
- 13:11Speaker 1: which is why sometimes you need to watch for that
- 13:13Speaker 1: correlation in training camp to the preseason, and there are
- 13:17Speaker 1: areas of opportunity. But I think he's going to learn
- 13:20Speaker 1: and grow from that and we'll see what version of
- 13:22Speaker 1: smile Mondan who did have a nice spring by the way,
- 13:25Speaker 1: you're getting in training camp, but that's kind of his
- 13:28Speaker 1: outlook heading into his second season.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough, parking, traffic,
- 13:35Speaker 4: long lines, We've all been there, but when it comes
- 13:37Speaker 4: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 13:42Speaker 4: the dispensary for sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly,
- 13:46Speaker 4: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast,
- 13:49Speaker 4: no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care about convenience.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Camdn Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their staff
- 13:57Speaker 4: makes sure you feel taken care of so every time

- 14:20Speaker 4: service members, and healthcare pros. Cammed In Apothecary Top quality cannabis,
- 14:25Speaker 4: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 14:29Speaker 4: one and up.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And then the other fifth round pick was Drew Kendall,
- 14:34Speaker 1: taking one hundred and sixty eighth overall out of Boston College.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I said it then and I still maintain this sentiment now.
- 14:41Speaker 1: That was my favorite Day three pick for the Eagles,
- 14:44Speaker 1: just in terms of fit and long term upside. He
- 14:48Speaker 1: was a center that I believe started thirty four games
- 14:51Speaker 1: at Boston College. You're talking about a football intelligence that's
- 14:55Speaker 1: off the charts. He moves well, and especially now with
- 14:59Speaker 1: this new scheme that the Eagles are adopting under Sean
- 15:02Speaker 1: Mannion and offensive line coach Chris Cooper, it's fair to
- 15:06Speaker 1: have some optimism there with Drew Kendall. He also spent
- 15:09Speaker 1: a lot of time conversing last season with Brett Toath
- 15:12Speaker 1: that they were a couple lockers apart, and he was
- 15:15Speaker 1: picking Brett's brain and Brett was when I asked him
- 15:18Speaker 1: about Drew and being a resource for him, was he
- 15:22Speaker 1: was gushing about the knowledge that he seeks and how
- 15:26Speaker 1: far he's come from training camp to at that point
- 15:29Speaker 1: in the season that I was talking to him and
- 15:31Speaker 1: said he came in as a true professional, and coming
- 15:35Speaker 1: from Brett, that's strong words there. He doesn't offer hollow
- 15:39Speaker 1: praise Brett Toth, of course, right now with the San
- 15:42Speaker 1: Francisco forty nine ers, but Drew Kendall stands to benefit
- 15:46Speaker 1: from the absence of Brett Toath as being his replacement
- 15:50Speaker 1: as an interior reserve who can play both guard spots.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And center. He's a center by trade. He's going to
- 15:57Speaker 1: be the backup center to Cam Jurgens this year. I
- 16:00Speaker 1: thought Drew Kendall did some nice things last season in
- 16:03Speaker 1: the season finale, check it off some boxes there, ended
- 16:06Speaker 1: up playing eighty nine offensive snaps. But this year he's
- 16:09Speaker 1: going to serve a vital role as the top reserve
- 16:13Speaker 1: on the interior. That's a pretty promising outlook for Drew.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And he did cross train a little bit at guard
- 16:20Speaker 1: in the spring, which, by the way, I'm expecting to
- 16:23Speaker 1: be something that will be a prevailing team throughout the summer,
- 16:26Speaker 1: not just with Drew Kennell, but you saw it with
- 16:28Speaker 1: Miles Hinton.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Mark hell Bell played both tackle spots.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I think cross training is going to be big, at
- 16:33Speaker 1: least that's the way that I view it right now.
- 16:35Speaker 2: With Chris Cooper.
- 16:38Speaker 1: In the sixth round, the Eagles drafted quarterback Kyle McCord
- 16:42Speaker 1: out of Syrahcuse one hundred and eighty first overall. I
- 16:44Speaker 1: never quite saw it with Kyle McCord, and from the
- 16:47Speaker 1: spring through training camp, he was really spotty and never
- 16:50Speaker 1: felt like he had a strong foothold.
- 16:54Speaker 2: As a passer.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Having the mechanics styled in you saw it in the
- 16:57Speaker 1: preseason where the offense wasn't really able to must or anything. Still,
- 17:01Speaker 1: though he made it on the practice squad, he stayed
- 17:04Speaker 1: there for the whole season, and then at the end
- 17:06Speaker 1: of the year he signed a reserve futures deal with
- 17:08Speaker 1: the Green Bay Packers. So he's no longer a Philadelphia Eagle,
- 17:11Speaker 1: and the Eagles this year drafted Cole Payton. We'll see
- 17:15Speaker 1: if his story turns out a little differently. Miles Hinton
- 17:20Speaker 1: another six round pick, drafted one hundred and ninety first
- 17:23Speaker 1: overall offensive tackle by trade out of Michigan, but the
- 17:28Speaker 1: he suffered He was placed on injury reserve during cutdowns,
- 17:31Speaker 1: had his twenty one day practice window open that expired.
- 17:34Speaker 1: He never played it down for the Eagles last year,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but notably, he was cross training at left guard exclusively
- 17:42Speaker 1: in the spring practices. So the Eagles are looking to
- 17:45Speaker 1: get as much of a look at Miles Hinton as possible.
- 17:49Speaker 1: There is clear interest there, or at least intrigue. And
- 17:52Speaker 1: sometimes I go back to what I said about Ty Robinson.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Sometimes a year spent watching and observing and asking questions
- 17:59Speaker 1: and sitting meetings serves a player well and we'll see
- 18:02Speaker 1: if that's the case for Miles Hinton, who will be
- 18:05Speaker 1: in contention for a depth role at guard and tackle.
- 18:12Speaker 2: The other six round pick, well, there's two more.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Cameron Williams drafted two hundred and seventh overall at a
- 18:17Speaker 1: University of Texas. Now, there was some talk when the
- 18:19Speaker 1: Eagles drafted Cameron Williams that had he entered the twenty
- 18:22Speaker 1: twenty sixth draft would have been a higher pick, a
- 18:25Speaker 1: little bit of a raw prospect, didn't play a ton
- 18:27Speaker 1: at Texas, but you can see the tools that he
- 18:29Speaker 1: brings with him from an athletic and measurable standpoint. He
- 18:34Speaker 1: was another player who spent some time on injury reserve
- 18:36Speaker 1: last year. His twenty one day practice window was opened
- 18:39Speaker 1: and he actually did get onto the field for the
- 18:42Speaker 1: Eagles in the season finale. Performed far better than I
- 18:44Speaker 1: could have expected, knowing that he was coming in with
- 18:48Speaker 1: the background that suggested he would be more of a
- 18:51Speaker 1: project relative to his teammate Miles Hinton. But Cameron Williams
- 18:56Speaker 1: intrigued me with what I saw.
- 18:57Speaker 2: From him in the finale.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And I don't too much into spring practices, but a
- 19:01Speaker 1: lot of his reps were on the third team. We'll
- 19:04Speaker 1: see if he's able to surge past that and what
- 19:08Speaker 1: he can do when the pads come on. Because last
- 19:10Speaker 1: summer it was evident that this was a player who
- 19:12Speaker 1: was sort of finding his way, still was a work
- 19:15Speaker 1: in progress.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I will be curious to see if.
- 19:18Speaker 1: He looks to be a little bit more polished and
- 19:20Speaker 1: refined and can sort of factor in with the set
- 19:24Speaker 1: get some second team work, because I right now think
- 19:27Speaker 1: that he has a good shot at sticking as the
- 19:30Speaker 1: final offensive lineman, knowing the upside that he carries, and
- 19:34Speaker 1: then rounding things out. The Eagles selected a pass rusher
- 19:37Speaker 1: by the name of Antoine Powell Ryland two hundred and
- 19:40Speaker 1: ninth overall out of Virginia Tech. I didn't see much
- 19:44Speaker 1: of anything from Powell Ryland in training camp. Granted, the
- 19:46Speaker 1: reps were sparing or sporadic, and he didn't play all
- 19:52Speaker 1: that much. He played sparingly in the preseason, though in
- 19:54Speaker 1: the finale you saw some splash plays that he was
- 19:57Speaker 1: able to provide there, but you never really saw him
- 20:01Speaker 1: be able to put anything significant together in training camp.
- 20:05Speaker 1: He wasn't winning his one on ones, he wasn't really
- 20:07Speaker 1: factoring all that much in team drows when he was
- 20:10Speaker 1: getting plays and on the development during the developmental periods
- 20:14Speaker 1: as well. But he was on the Eagles practice squad
- 20:18Speaker 1: for a little bit. I think he's with the Cincinnati
- 20:20Speaker 1: Bengals at the moment they signed him, and perhaps he's
- 20:23Speaker 1: able to tap in to his ability there in a
- 20:27Speaker 1: different defense. But this is someone that was immensely productive
- 20:31Speaker 1: as a pass rusher, a lot of force fumbles at
- 20:33Speaker 1: Virginia Tech, and so there was naturally a lot of
- 20:35Speaker 1: intrigue when the Eagles drafted him. But as a Day
- 20:39Speaker 1: three pick at a position that was fairly loaded at
- 20:42Speaker 1: the time, it was always sort.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Of a long shot to make the roster.
- 20:48Speaker 1: But now that he's on a different team, we'll see
- 20:50Speaker 1: if his future will continue to be in Cincinnati. But
- 20:55Speaker 1: that's sort of my synopsis of the twenty twenty five
- 20:57Speaker 1: draft class, taking a look back, looking at where they
- 21:01Speaker 1: came from, what they've already done, and where they're going.
- 21:05Speaker 2: And with that, that's.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Going to do it for this episode of the Czecho Deli,
- 21:08Speaker 1: I'm Andrew de Checo. I'll catch you all on the
- 21:11Speaker 1: next one.
