  Speaker 2: I am Sherri Mackey and it's time right now for

  Speaker 2: today's word. God wants to do life with you. James 2.23 says,

  Speaker 2: and the scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God
• 0:20
  Speaker 2: and it was credited to him as righteousness and he
• 0:24
  Speaker 2: was called God's friend. Have you ever stopped to think
• 0:29
  Speaker 2: about the fact that God wants to be your friend?
• 0:33
  Speaker 2: We often think of God as our father, our Lord,
• 0:37
  Speaker 2: our master, our provider, our healer, our protector, and our helper.
• 0:42
  Speaker 1: And he is all those things.
• 0:44
  Speaker 2: But scripture also tells us that Abraham was called a
• 0:48
  Speaker 2: friend of God.
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: Think about that thing.
• 0:51
  Speaker 2: The God who created the heavens and the earth desires
• 0:55
  Speaker 2: a close personal relationship with you. He doesn't just want
• 1:00
  Speaker 2: you to come to him when you're in trouble. He
• 1:01
  Speaker 2: wants you to talk to him when you're excited, when
• 1:04
  Speaker 2: you're confused, when you're making plans, when you don't know
• 1:07
  Speaker 2: what to do next. God wants to do life with you.

  Speaker 2: Talk to him throughout the day. Tell him what's on
• 1:14
  Speaker 2: your heart. Invite him into your decisions. Ask him for
• 1:17
  Speaker 2: wisdom before you respond. Thank him when something good happens
• 1:21
  Speaker 2: and when something hurts. Don't run away from God. Run
• 1:26
  Speaker 2: to him. Friendship requires conversation. A prayer isn't supposed to
• 1:32
  Speaker 2: be one-sided where you do all the talking. We talk
• 1:36
  Speaker 2: to God, but we should also learn to.
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: Listen to him.
• 1:41
  Speaker 2: Jesus said in John 10 and 27 that his sheep
• 1:45
  Speaker 2: know his voice and follow him.

  Speaker 1: God speaks through his word.
• 1:48
  Speaker 2: He can speak through prayer, godly wisdom, circumstances, and the

  Speaker 2: quiet prompting of the Holy Spirit. See, that's why we've
• 1:55
  Speaker 2: got to slow down long enough to listen. Sometimes we're
• 1:59
  Speaker 2: so busy telling God what we need that we never
• 2:02
  Speaker 2: stop to ask, Lord, what are you saying to me?
• 2:06
  Speaker 2: A close relationship with God grows through time spent with him.
• 2:11
  Speaker 2: You don't become somebody's friend by talking to them every
• 2:15
  Speaker 2: now and again. Friendship develops through consistent conversation, trust, shared experiences,

  Speaker 2: and time together. The same is true with God. The
• 2:25
  Speaker 2: more time you spend in his word, the more you
• 2:29
  Speaker 2: learn his character, the more you pray, the more comfortable
• 2:32
  Speaker 2: you become bringing everything to him. The more you walk
• 2:36
  Speaker 2: with him, the more you recognize his voice.

  Speaker 1: And here's something beautiful.

  Speaker 2: God has promised never to leave you. And so when
• 2:45
  Speaker 2: everybody else walks away, God is still there. When you
• 2:48
  Speaker 2: don't have anybody to call, you can call on him.

  Speaker 2: When you don't know what to say, he understands the language.
• 2:55
  Speaker 1: Of your heart. You're never alone.

  Speaker 2: Today, don't just seek God's hand, seek his heart. Don't

  Speaker 2: just ask him for what he can give you. Get
• 3:05
  Speaker 2: to know the one who gives.

  Speaker 1: Talk to him. Listen for him. Walk with him.

  Speaker 2: God isn't simply asking you to know about him. He's
• 3:14
  Speaker 2: inviting you to know him, to be his friend. I

  Speaker 2: remember when I first read that I called my best
• 3:20
  Speaker 2: friend chain, Renee Lee. Girl, God wants me to be
• 3:24
  Speaker 2: his friend. That was such a revelation for me at
• 3:27
  Speaker 2: a young age. Oh Lord Jesus, my God and my friend,
• 3:31
  Speaker 2: thank you for inviting us into close relationship with you.

  Speaker 1: We don't want to simply know about you. We want
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: to know you.
• 3:38
  Speaker 2: Teach us, God, to talk to you about everything and
• 3:41
  Speaker 2: to slow down and listen for your voice. Help us
• 3:43
  Speaker 2: to recognize your direction through your word and your spirit.
• 3:47
  Speaker 1: God, draw us closer when we.
• 3:48
  Speaker 2: Feel distance and remind us that we're never alone because
• 3:52
  Speaker 2: you're always with us.
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: Help us to trust you.
• 3:55
  Speaker 2: Walk with you, and grow in deeper friendship with you
• 3:58
  Speaker 2: every day in Jesus' name. Hey, that's your word for today.

  Speaker 2: Take it, apply it to your everyday life, and you

  Speaker 2: continue to be encouraged and inspired.
