- 0:58Now, here are the host of The United.
- 1:01We scan podcast and welcome back.
- 1:07This is episode 28, take two. Now that we figured out the
- 1:13problems. Yeah, needless to say I am
- 1:17mobile tonight rather than on my computer.
- 1:20Yeah, had a good week this week at the office management.
- 1:25Did step aside for a training, a sit-down training.
- 1:30Actually we actually got moved into the conference room and had
- 1:33a 12-minute training and unscannable parcel and WSS.
- 1:39Which was really great because she actually mirrored the actual
- 1:44talking that we've been talking about what a parcel is.
- 1:47She actually said, yes, 5 inches or 18 inches or one and 9/16 is
- 1:53a parcel, as long as it's rigid, and she did specify that you
- 1:57lines that are rollable are not a parcel.
- 2:01If you wanted to make sure everybody knew that.
- 2:03And she also discussed the difference between WSS and
- 2:07everything else and letter, parcel box holder vs, W, SS
- 2:12scan. And of course somebody not me, I
- 2:16will specify it was not me. Somebody asked what about wsh?
- 2:20And she was kind of well and I turn around carrier discretion
- 2:27and she's like, yeah, carrier discretion sounds great.
- 2:30So, my postmaster actually said, carrier discretion on wsh for
- 2:35now, so that was great. Get in writing.
- 2:44I have 12 Witnesses. That's good enough for me and
- 2:48still get that in writing though you're easily swayed.
- 2:57Well it's a fact that she said she couldn't give a definitive
- 3:00answer so in toasty gives a definitive answer carry your
- 3:03discretion. Well that's how I look at it.
- 3:08We had the same situation within our office where a rural carrier
- 3:13specialist told us. Yes wsh get centered And they.
- 3:20Okay. And we took that to heart and
- 3:24then they started screaming about it and then somebody found
- 3:28out otherwise and rain on our parade.
- 3:31But I'm not going to tell you that because that's you carry
- 3:39discretion, of course, how was your week bill?
- 3:44I gotta, I gotta go to work tomorrow.
- 3:46Yeah. We moved into a new smaller town
- 3:50home, and God, you you'd have no idea how much shit you have in
- 3:56your house until you try to get into a smaller facility and it
- 4:01It's been a challenge. So we're still unpacking,
- 4:05probably 40% of the house. We got to 60 percent done and
- 4:10still don't have enough room. You know thank God for the
- 4:12basement. Yeah it's a lifesaver.
- 4:17What what? What's this my clothes at seven
- 4:20basement. You know my wife does have
- 4:23walk-in closet. I have a reach-in closet and
- 4:27then she has another walk-in closet.
- 4:29And then she has a double-sided Posit sound familiar, guys?
- 4:35It sounds about right. Yeah.
- 4:37Sounds about right. Yeah, let me guess 20 pairs of
- 4:40shoes in one closet. 20/20. What do you think she is on the
- 4:45poverty level? I mean, you do work for the Post
- 4:49Office. Yeah.
- 4:50But yeah, she she makes six figures though, you know, you
- 4:54know, if you started 80 and work your way up, you might get
- 4:57closer. I was saying just in one closet,
- 5:00I wasn't saying it all the closets, right?
- 5:02I'm saying in one closet, she's gonna say closet and just for
- 5:07the shoes. Well yeah, the shoes are all the
- 5:11way up. It's the walk-in closet and
- 5:13there's we have racks of shoes, all the way up to the bottom of
- 5:16the clothes hanging. Hang up.
- 5:19By attending, one of our listeners said, my wife has a
- 5:23walk-in closet. It's called the house.
- 5:30Love it, love it. The fourth bedroom was her
- 5:35walk-in bedroom closet. It was, I mean, I had, you know,
- 5:41the standard side by side, sliding closet doors.
- 5:44And then I had a 12 foot rail for clothes and then I, Had the
- 5:49shoe racks underneath there in the shoe racks in the closet and
- 5:52the shoe racks underneath the lounging chair.
- 5:56And then 2/3 of Closet in our master bedroom was herself.
- 6:01So when you guys go on vacation, to the Cayman Islands?
- 6:05Does she take a suitcase? Just a shoes?
- 6:09Usually, least six or seven pairs of shoes.
- 6:13I don't know, I think whatever I'm wearing my feet.
- 6:17I take my water shoes, my flippers my snorkel and my
- 6:20bathing suit and I'm happy anchor, pink thong.
- 6:25Oh, of course, I never take that off.
- 6:30Oh, yeah. I got things going on our
- 7:04fingers crossed. I can pick that up, Thursday.
- 7:07I'm only one running one. We're out tomorrow.
- 7:11I had to go in and case today that yeah, that's not get me
- 7:15started on that. What happened this morning?
- 7:19Yeah, I don't think I'll pass the episode 3 RCA's case two
- 7:25rounds. Each I case 31 case 11 case too
- 7:31and I still got all the packages that were sorted for tomorrow.
- 7:34The further out, I'm running taken care of.
- 7:37So yeah, that's the CliffsNotes version.
- 7:41Pretty good, pretty good. I like getting the phone call
- 7:45today. And somebody say Bill, how come
- 7:47the add rows are at three routes?
- 7:51I don't know, ask management. The thing that this is fun day,
- 7:58right? It is Monday right now.
- 8:02It feels like a Sunday because we're actually recording and
- 8:06they do go out and Thursdays right?
- 8:09Well ours, go out on Monday. I was going on Tuesdays.
- 8:15Arzo Thursday. Okay well each office is
- 8:19different. Yeah the betting on the printer
- 8:23you know and the supermarkets in the whoever else.
- 8:26Yep but yeah it's just yeah Neverending Story.
- 8:33You have anybody else participating today?
- 8:35Or we just us three like we got Micah on here unless he's going
- 8:40to be quiet. Mike, you joining us, are you
- 8:45sitting what sitting pretty Guess he said I'm going to be
- 8:51sitting pretty for right now. Josh won't be with us tonight,
- 8:55State Convention going on right now and Papas and one now.
- 8:59So, yeah, so the topic we were talking about yesterday and
- 9:05we'll talk about today is we've seen it on social media, and
- 9:08we've seen the emails going around and stuff like that of
- 9:12management, being told to have conversations with carriers
- 9:16about their excessive scanning. And we talked about this in the
- 9:20Previous episode as well about how there is an email going
- 9:23around that if you have eight weeks prior to the mini mail
- 9:29survey of data is what they're using to determine whether
- 9:33you're over scanning or not. And the problem with that is the
- 9:39eight weeks prior to the mini meal survey, 99% of carriers
- 9:44were only doing at most the six cans and they weren't trained on
- 9:48the rest of them and now Carriers are going.
- 9:50Oh, fudge. I need to start doing these
- 9:53scans. And these carriers are actually
- 9:55being honest about them. They're being accurate.
- 9:58They're doing what they're supposed to be doing with the
- 10:00scans. And now management is coming
- 10:03down on it, because as we've seen, some people have said,
- 10:07they've heard talks from upper management on conference calls,
- 10:13that carriers are over scanning supposedly and one some of the
- 10:20routes are getting 30, plus h above what they're currently
- 10:23evaluated at. Now, this is the big problem.
- 10:27You have management deciding to turn around and police people
- 10:31who are over scanning. But yet, they're ignoring the
- 10:34people who aren't doing any scams at all who basically
- 10:37aren't doing their job either. So reason why?
- 10:43Because it saves the post office money, there you go.
- 10:48They don't care about, they don't care if you're turning
- 10:50around and doing absolutely nothing, but the sixth and the
- 10:53six cans is the only thing. They're worried about 100%
- 10:57across-the-board, literally you clock in.
- 11:01And when you start road truck, five seconds later, you hit in
- 11:03boat truck depart to Ralph. Come back from your route return
- 11:08to you. And clock out five seconds later
- 11:11they'd be completely happy even though even though it's not
- 11:16accurate. That's what management really
- 11:19wants because that saves them money overall.
- 11:23But your postmaster in your office, his budget for his
- 11:29office his or her budget is 100% based on the mail that's going
- 11:35through that office. Whether it's the city carriers,
- 11:39the rural character, couriers or even the PO Boxes step mail
- 11:42going through that office is tied to the budget of that
- 11:46office because the more mail it flows through the more money
- 11:49they get the bigger, the routes are the More your, the budget on
- 11:55your office gets that could mean more clerks.
- 11:59That could mean custodian. That could mean even more routes
- 12:02for Rural more rounds per City? It could mean a lot for it and
- 12:07they can have more supervisors to.
- 12:09You could have Morales means more supervisors.
- 12:13Overall, are you guys think? That's what we do.
- 12:18I need to management. I think like we do we before we
- 12:24got dumped that the bigger the office to bigger to paycheck for
- 12:30the postmaster for too long. Long as he's maintaining his
- 12:34cost. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:37Because he can go from, you know, easa 18 to a 20 21, 22,
- 12:43and make beaucoup bucks right now.
- 12:46We have City. Tires making more than the
- 12:48postmaster, we have clerks, making more in the postmaster
- 12:51because of all the hours are putting in.
- 12:55Yeah, it's a sad fact that a lot of these postmasters don't
- 13:00actually realize exactly what goes into their budget, over the
- 13:05stuff, they aren't trained on this stuff.
- 13:06Just like, they weren't trained on the wreck scans.
- 13:08We proved that image stage when I asked the guy why he didn't
- 13:12make it mandatory. We proved that the regional reps
- 13:16weren't willing to train the district reps in the district
- 13:18reps without training, can't train the postmasters.
- 13:20And these post manager tool for bees aren't getting the The
- 13:25training on, even their own personal jobs.
- 13:30So when you get management like you said that would log into the
- 13:33zoom training and then walk away from the desk.
- 13:37Yeah. Or minimize it and go on what do
- 13:39and what they're doing instead of actually learning this stuff
- 13:44and it being mandatory Maybe a test at the end but the other,
- 13:54the other one is definitely the WSS.
- 13:57You know, a lot of people get confused on that WSS. is
- 14:04addressed flats or letters WSS is addressed decoration, male
- 14:09covers, most of both not all of the route As a mailing, it says,
- 14:16WSS on it, but if it does not have an address, it will still
- 14:22say WSS because that's the rate that the shipper is being
- 14:29charged to mail that out. That's why it says WSS, even
- 14:32though it says, local customer or Postal customers or something
- 14:36along those lines are being charged that WSS rate for that
- 14:41mailing but it's box holder. If it's not a Dressed just want
- 14:45to clarify that as well. So let me get this straight.
- 14:52The post office is charging the mail or WSS raised as in.
- 14:56It's being addressed the mail, or as actually pretty it up as a
- 15:00box holder and we're being paid for a box holder, but the post
- 15:06office getting paid as WSS. Lori or you can look at it that
- 15:11the people that are putting the addresses on it, for the Post
- 15:13Office are paying the same rate as the people who don't put an
- 15:17address on it. But either way it's about the
- 15:22same count for the. You're going to get the same
- 15:25number of mailers whether they have addresses on them or not.
- 15:30That's the way it's supposed to be at least.
- 15:33Yeah. So if you guys are concerned on
- 15:36your scans and management pulls you in to talk about your scans,
- 15:42first thing you want to do is you definitely want to have your
- 15:46designated union rep with you as a witness.
- 15:51They can say, oh, you don't need your union rep because this is
- 15:54not discipline, that's not going to lead to discipline.
- 15:56Blah blah blah. No.
- 15:57I want him there for a witness. anytime management wants to talk
- 16:01to you, you can take somebody in as a witness And you can choose
- 16:06who your witness is. And when you go in there, ask
- 16:12management. Well, how are you determining
- 16:14this? Well, you came up on a report.
- 16:16All is there other carriers that are on this report?
- 16:20Can I see the other what the other carriers are doing?
- 16:22So I can get an idea of how they're doing it so I can do it
- 16:25right? and see that list because if
- 16:28there's carriers on there that aren't doing the scans, Help
- 16:33your brother or sister out and go talk with them and be like,
- 16:36hey, I noticed from this report because I got called out for
- 16:38over scanning that you're not doing the scans, is there
- 16:42anything I can help you to help you learn how to do this.
- 16:44So you don't leave money on the table.
- 16:47Do something for your fellow carriers on that.
- 16:51Isn't that really the stewards job to do that?
- 16:55Just just storage job. Yes, but it's also on us to help
- 17:00our brothers and sisters out if we can, because there are a lot
- 17:03of offices that don't have to do everything awful.
- 17:05Yeah. There are a lot of offices that
- 17:08don't have a steward in it. If you're in an office, that
- 17:10doesn't have a steward, you can step up and be a steward.
- 17:15You know there's a whole Clara for people reach out to us and
- 17:19say that they have taken that dive.
- 17:23Yeah, there's and it's awesome. Yeah it takes it takes somebody
- 17:28willing to sacrifice their time and energy to become a steward.
- 17:35And we applaud that, because it's a way to give back to your
- 17:41fellow carriers in a meaningful way.
- 17:45Well, what are the things you were talking about?
- 17:47In regards to the six cans that most people barely did.
- 17:52Now, they're coming up on reports for Des mounts because
- 17:55they never put them in And I saw this on social media because of
- 18:01the fact that now it's a flag popping up that they're actually
- 18:05putting the Dismounts in when they're making more than one and
- 18:09this is the problem of not doing it for the last two years,
- 18:12folks. Yes, is the information that's
- 18:16where they set their base levels.
- 18:18Based on the last two years, particularly the last year of
- 18:23made to May 22, 23 and said, this is your base level.
- 18:27If you go above that, it's going to get flagged.
- 18:31And now that people are catching on to the fact that they have to
- 18:33do these cans and make the entries for the Dismounts.
- 18:37It's catching up to them and Management's asking why?
- 18:42Yeah, and your dis Mouse, you know, is It's each CPU set you
- 18:48have. So if you have 1 C, bu 9, CB
- 18:52use, or even 21 CPUs, and one section.
- 18:57That's one Dismount. So if you have to go back and
- 19:00get mail, that's an additional authorized Dismount at that CPU
- 19:05and the key to it is, if you take the amount of mail, you can
- 19:10safely carry to that, CB you And Management's going to get on you
- 19:16for that they're going to be like well what can we do to get
- 19:19you to carry more male to it? I'm taking as much as I safely
- 19:23can. So the only other option you
- 19:26would have is to give me a satchel credit for it.
- 19:30And I explained this before a satchel credit you get, firstly,
- 19:35you get the credit of a miscellaneous.
- 19:37Time to go from your case to where the Satchel is stored.
- 19:43Back to your case, then you case all your stuff, get everything
- 19:47ready to go, and then you pull down your mail, pull down your
- 19:53first CB, you set that you're going to last.
- 19:57Save that to the end. Once you've pulled it down onto
- 20:00your desk, then you do a start load vehicle and you load that
- 20:06Satchel during your start load vehicle time.
- 20:09Then put the Satchel in your cart.
- 20:11Go load your truck, finish your duties.
- 20:14Go out. You go to your first see.
- 20:16BU you time the time, it takes you to go and grab your Satchel.
- 20:22Bring it out to the door of your truck and put it on to carry it
- 20:26to that. Bu stop the timer right?
- 20:31That time down go to your CPU, load the mail.
- 20:35When you empty the Satchel go back refill time, the refill
- 20:39time, you get time to reload that Satchel on miscellaneous
- 20:44time. And you free fill it for the
- 20:47next CPU set. Whether it's three pieces of
- 20:51mail or 3,000 pieces of mail whatever fits in that Satchel
- 20:55safely and does not damage the mail and you get that time
- 21:00credit under miscellaneous time that will actually give you more
- 21:04time on your evaluation then would the authorized Dismount
- 21:11going back and forth. Management does not want to do
- 21:14that. It'll cost them a lot more that
- 21:17way. But that's the key.
- 21:21If you are told to yeah, plus they have to provide you a
- 21:25satchel So that's another option for CBU routes to gain more time
- 21:34on their routes. But the other thing too that
- 21:38I've been told on unauthorized Dismounts is you have to
- 21:41Dismount with mail in your hand. You if you get out to open your
- 21:47CB you that you if you if you Dismount to open your CB you to
- 21:52check and see like the see if your parcel lockers or full or
- 21:57whatever but you don't have any mail in your hand.
- 21:59You can't. Count that as a dismount.
- 22:02You have to be dismounted with with something in your hand to
- 22:05deliver. Are your discretion?
- 22:11Yeah, yeah, that was put out at our state.
- 22:17So, okay. That was put out an adventure.
- 22:21Yeah, I didn't hear that in mind yet, but doesn't mean it's not
- 22:24out there, but this actual credit opinion, you should speak
- 22:28with your designated union. Rep on that.
- 22:31It's just my personal opinion on that.
- 22:35Well, the base levels for the eight weeks prior to the survey,
- 22:38not the year prior for the Scandia.
- 22:41Anyway, we went back to them in email server, but I was going to
- 22:46say it's the same way with your Lea, your load vehicle function.
- 22:51I mean, on average I have a A plus of parcels early will have
- 22:59to unload one. Yeah, the sword arm out and then
- 23:02reload reload, you know, into the other, you know, the empty
- 23:05one once I get that done with the others so that I can, you
- 23:08know, segregate them and kind of staged them whenever you're
- 23:12reloading, you know, you taking that stuff out, you know, that's
- 23:15loading time. If you got to pick them up off
- 23:18the floor that's loading time. If it's clerk comes over and
- 23:22drops, you know, three or four Parcels off, you know the
- 23:25knocker at your case that's loading.
- 23:27Time your ad Bose if you're loading them into your hamper,
- 23:30that's loading time and if you haven't been doing that for the
- 23:34past year or so then, you know, guess what?
- 23:37Folks, that's going to trigger an alert on their part.
- 23:41They have not come to me yet because I averaged, at least 15
- 23:45minutes loading time every day. if not more because we're my
- 23:48truck is versus the amount of mail and parcels give you a
- 23:54point. I've been doing my scans
- 23:57correctly for the last year, and even with that, I'm still
- 24:02getting flagged. For the eight weeks prior.
- 24:06Because, who knows what happened?
- 24:08The eight weeks prior. I really don't remember what
- 24:10happened back in back. In February, January, February
- 24:15March of this year. I can't remember how many
- 24:17unscanned Parcels I had, I can't remember how many walk sequence
- 24:21I had. I can't remember any of that
- 24:23stuff. So what I have now may be
- 24:25different especially this time of year when you have diplomas
- 24:29and and picture senior pictures and things like that.
- 24:33You know, coming out in the mail, those are do not Bend and
- 24:37if their parcel size there are no scan parcel because you can't
- 24:41bend them to fit them in a box or a rigid article.
- 24:45So you're getting a higher count of unscanned parcels just
- 24:47because there are more of them. Hmm.
- 24:51And I guarantee most carriers and I will say most, I can't say
- 24:55for certain all carriers but most carriers are doing the
- 24:58proper scans but they're supposed to be doing.
- 25:03Because I trust my brothers and sisters on the real crafts.
- 25:05I don't trust management. We're hoping they're doing the
- 25:13scans properly again that comes down from management and
- 25:16management responsibility for training and we all know how
- 25:20well they did on that. Oh, that's such a laugh.
- 25:23Oh my God, if I, if I didn't know nothing.
- 25:36Same, same for me in my office, I had to train my postmaster on
- 25:40it. Because district and Regional
- 25:44were doing it for sure. But that's the key.
- 25:50Is this is this is your money. This is your paycheck and you've
- 25:57got to think about what your paycheck is worth to you.
- 26:03And you also have to remember that your subs, in your office
- 26:08are part of your paycheck. And it's not always going to be
- 26:12your primary Subs. It runs your route.
- 26:15So step up and help your your RCA's out.
- 26:19Help them. Learn these scans help them
- 26:21understand what it means for them because they're the next
- 26:26people to run your route. The next people that are going
- 26:29to be regular carriers, they should know how to do this
- 26:32stuff, you're o.j. I in your office should be
- 26:35teaching them this stuff, but you should also be stepping up
- 26:38and making, making them feel proud to know how to do this
- 26:43stuff. Make them feel proud in the job
- 26:46because they're going to be the ones that if you're out on
- 26:48leave. Like for Kristen.
- 26:51And I were going to be up at our State Convention.
- 26:55Several days off our routes for our subs, don't know the scans.
- 26:59We're going to lose money on our Rex stuff, right?
- 27:03Kristen. Yeah, even my little baby ox, So
- 27:09it's like if you take care of yourselves and teach them, the
- 27:12importance of these scans and what it means for them, just as
- 27:15much as it means for you. Yeah, one of our pts is learning
- 27:23that firsthand because he's getting set to go.
- 27:27We have a carrier retiring soon and I don't think anyone's going
- 27:34to bid on her route because it went down due to RX To, I think
- 27:40a 40K. And you know, he's going to take
- 27:44a pretty major pay cut when he you know, when he becomes
- 27:48regular within the next month or two, if not the funniest thing
- 27:55you're going to become regular and you lose money.
- 27:58Yeah. It's not unheard of sadly.
- 28:02It's not a group of, that's true for a lot of Subs, especially if
- 28:05they're the primary sub of the office.
- 28:07The seat, most senior sub because they're working six days
- 28:10a week as a sub. Bob work in 10 to 12 hours a day
- 28:14actually, getting real overtime with it and they turn around and
- 28:17they get the lowest evaluated route in the office.
- 28:22Or the worst drought in the office and then they have to
- 28:25build it up themselves because especially if the carrier really
- 28:29doesn't care because oh, I'm so close to retirement, I don't
- 28:32care. Then they're really screwed and
- 28:34then they have to spend to Surrey and then email surveys
- 28:39before they get the actual full evaluation of that route.
- 28:43I'm going to take that long. The route that I will
- 28:46potentially be getting here. Come, I don't know, October some
- 28:50time without finally goes up for bid and awarded that, you know,
- 28:55she would she gain three hours? She went from a 42 to a 45k and
- 29:01that's because, you know, but since then we've got a newer RC
- 29:06on there and she likes to not be in the office as much as
- 29:10possible. So how was, you know, that six
- 29:14months Of four months of not getting.
- 29:18Probably all the scans that should be getting.
- 29:21How's that going to affect it when I take it over after the
- 29:23next survey? You know, is it going to be
- 29:26enough to bring it back down or, you know, am I I'm just going to
- 29:31have, you know, work with the subs even more to make sure
- 29:33they're getting the proper scans.
- 29:38Yeah, and like I said, it's going to take, if, in these
- 29:42instances, you know, we got our evaluations, a month and a half
- 29:46after the mini mail survey. So that's a month and a half.
- 29:51After the survey that are not really fully scanned in.
- 29:57So you're literally looking at a 3 Min email, surveys before we
- 30:01get the full evaluation of these routes.
- 30:04But the biggest thing is, is those Those surveys, are they
- 30:10defining Factor when we get our evaluations, and our next one is
- 30:14not till September, and we won't get a new evaluation until
- 30:19October. But the carriers that started
- 30:24doing their scans after the men email survey are not going to
- 30:27have a full six months yet because they didn't know.
- 30:30Oh, my route went down from a 42k to of 40, 41, H or 36h.
- 30:39They're not going to know exactly how high their route can
- 30:41be. For at least another two men,
- 30:44email surveys if they're doing their of their scans correctly.
- 30:50so, you have to think about that when you get up there, because,
- 30:58Everything you do now affects you a year down the road.
- 31:05Right. Bill, you're right.
- 31:08And, and people keep thinking that this is going to be
- 31:10happening every 6 months. It's not.
- 31:12It's going to be a yearly thing. It's 52 weeks everage.
- 31:19Yeah, it's a really 52 weeks with too many mail servers a
- 31:22year. The good news is we've gotten
- 31:27rid of quote-unquote, special counts where the Postal Service
- 31:30can say, oh, we're not counting this month of God, like the last
- 31:37five years. The list glass special count,
- 31:41they had, they pulled pulled around out, combined it with two
- 31:45other routes, overburden them to the point where, you know, they
- 31:48were in the 70s know Jesus, then had to read the item and And
- 31:55then all of a sudden 38 routes became K routes and the other
- 31:59two still stayed High. Ches.
- 32:02Yeah. And we have a rural carrier,
- 32:04specialist working in our office,
- 32:18that's the worst part. You know, the first couple of
- 32:21years, I would tell my wife stories and and she just shook
- 32:24her head. No, it's not true.
- 32:26You talk to your customers and they they ask questions and you
- 32:29tell them what's going on and they shake their heads at.
- 32:32Yeah, you know why do you have a third eye ball you middle of
- 32:34your forehead? Like he was saying you know we
- 32:37talk to our customers and they don't know what's going on
- 32:40behind the scenes. Yeah it's our customers don't
- 32:43even know what's going on you know they only see the back end
- 32:47of it while we're out there sitting in vehicles delivering
- 32:49the mail. They don't see all the work that
- 32:52we have to put in to get to putting the The mail in their
- 32:55boxes and stuff like that. But as rural carrier, it's our
- 33:00job to take care of our routes. Take care of our customers and
- 33:04take care of ourselves. And the the biggest, the other
- 33:09big one that people are talking about is the rural reach and the
- 33:16stamp stock sales. now, a lot of people have been talking about
- 33:22these and especially stamp stock sales, And they're talking about
- 33:28how they have to stop doing them because they don't get stamped
- 33:31stock from management. But in the PO, 603 is still
- 33:38calls. Us a post office on wheels.
- 33:42And there are some carriers, that still even carry scales and
- 33:46their trucks to move to weigh packages and things like that to
- 33:49make sure the people are actually putting the right
- 33:51postage on there. But if you are carrying stamps
- 33:55on yourself with the intention to sell them to customers, And
- 34:00you get changed in a box, to put on a stamp on a card, that's a
- 34:05stamp stock sale. You deserve that credit because
- 34:09you're going to go in your little pouch, or your wallet, or
- 34:12wherever you keep your stamps, you're going to take one of your
- 34:15stamps, put it on that envelope and you're going to put the
- 34:17change decide to replenish your stamp stock out of your own
- 34:21pocket. And I know carriers that know
- 34:24their routes well enough and that's being customer service.
- 34:28We know our routes that carry enough stamps to cover the sales
- 34:33on their route that they're going to have right Kristin.
- 34:38Yep, absolutely. I've heard of some management
- 34:43saying that they're going to no no longer allow stamp stock and
- 34:48whatnot night, you know, that's just wrong.
- 34:52Yeah and I mean right here in the p&l 603 it says that we can
- 34:57carry stamp stock and it doesn't have to be stamped chakra
- 35:00management. We can buy our own stamp stock
- 35:04in the PO, 603 Which is the duties and responsibilities for
- 35:10rural carriers. That is our Manual of how to do
- 35:14our job. You should have one at your case
- 35:17and if you don't give a management and if Management's
- 35:20not willing to provide one, get with your designated union, rep
- 35:23about it because you should have the manual on how to do your job
- 35:28at your case. So when you finally do mapping
- 35:32with the LTM and the DPM and your Dismounts boxes and cbos,
- 35:36do you get a form 50 saying? We went up and evaluation.
- 35:41When do we see a difference in our paycheck?
- 35:44Honestly, if there is enough, what the threshold is now for
- 35:49adding boxes and correcting it all, nobody knows.
- 35:54Unfortunately, that's you'll get an.
- 35:57I don't know from everybody. If it is enough to trigger
- 36:01something then it should trigger the 4241 a shortly after Did you
- 36:07forget a new for you to for you on a and a new form, 50 and your
- 36:124240 could also change? It should also be listed on your
- 36:204240 and that's another what those but what those thresholds
- 36:24are nobody knows. It's another know what it used
- 36:30to because I know in the past you going oh I only need three
- 36:33more boxes to go up. Our I need 12 boxes or 30 boxes,
- 36:37you know, you knew what you needed before in the past and
- 36:41now you don't, nobody has a clue.
- 36:44Yeah, and then you turn around and, you know, the 4240 is a big
- 36:5012 is management, is now using your scans on your scanner to
- 36:55input your times for the day that's a No-No.
- 37:00I've had, I've had discussions with Union leaders on this.
- 37:05We've had discussions with this and it should be the times you
- 37:09input on your 4240. The contract per management
- 37:15contract per the upper GI union leaders is the 4240 is still
- 37:22your time record. And if management is using your
- 37:26scan times and not your 40 to 40 times, give it here designated
- 37:31union, rep because it should be or 42. 40 times on your time
- 37:36card. Yep, and they can change the
- 37:40times. That's the only thing, local
- 37:42management can touches the X. Not your start loading log
- 37:46times, but your clock in and your depart to Route return to
- 37:50unit and clock out that you can still adjust those as needed.
- 37:55His mind is always a mess anyways, lot of them aren't
- 37:59willing to they're lazy. They don't want to read already
- 38:01auto-populates from the scanners, so they just go ahead
- 38:05and submit it, but that's important for Or your 2080 and
- 38:1020 to 40 times. Especially if you're
- 38:14volunteering to cover other out, or you're on the overtime list,
- 38:18things like that. It's important for that.
- 38:27There's a lot that needs to be adjusted and fixed when it comes
- 38:31to the system. But Bill you were talking about
- 38:36this the other day about how this rexes is important for
- 38:40rural carriers. You remember yesterday, was it
- 38:46yesterday? Got it seemed like a week ago.
- 38:52No. It's the difference between the
- 38:55old male count and the new Rec system, you know, and four
- 39:00years, 20, plus years, we cried about we're not getting paid for
- 39:04everything. We do now with these scanners.
- 39:07The, you know, they can track everything that you do, but
- 39:10you're getting paid for it now. That's the difference.
- 39:14You know what? It's not perfect, it doesn't
- 39:17cover everything. I mean, there's not a system out
- 39:20there, they could possibly cover.
- 39:22What? Ends in Alaska versus what
- 39:24happens in Miami versus what happens in Arkansas, okay?
- 39:29But the thing of it is it's pretty close to, you know,
- 39:33giving you credit for everything that you do.
- 39:37But if you don't input it, if you don't put it in your
- 39:40scanner, it doesn't go into your wallet, folks.
- 39:44That's your paycheck that scanner is your paycheck, the
- 39:48the same way. You know, I feel sorry for
- 39:51women, because Cuz they don't have belt.
- 39:55So more times than not, they'll scan something at the back of
- 39:59the truck, put the scanner down of, walk it up, you know, to the
- 40:02door. And then, you know, go back and
- 40:04hit, you know, delivered to the garage or front door whatever,
- 40:07where's the men with their holsters and belts and all
- 40:09wheat? We can carry them with us and a
- 40:12package at the same time. If you don't take it to the door
- 40:16and scan it there, it's tracking you.
- 40:18I mean, folks, I mean, when the scan can tell within one foot,
- 40:24whether you delivered it to the right, mailbox on a crossbar,
- 40:28guess what? That's accuracy.
- 40:33Oh, I mean I think I've actually had that situation happen where
- 40:37somebody put it in the wrong, mailbox on a crossbar.
- 40:41And guess what? They tracked it, right to the
- 40:43mailbox. And I've had those, I had those
- 40:48scans saved my behind a Christmas time.
- 40:51Customer said, I didn't get my package and like, I left it on
- 40:55the porch. I didn't get my package.
- 40:57We pulled up or I scanned it, and it where I scanned it, right
- 41:01on the porch, where I left it and that saved my behind because
- 41:05they were saying they never got it.
- 41:08You know, half of that I've heard rumors this is just
- 41:12rumors. I've heard that people have gone
- 41:14in for mapping and because they were scanning at the door in the
- 41:18truck. The mapping program moved their
- 41:21door spot to where their truck was parked to deliver it to the
- 41:25door. So you got to be careful with
- 41:27that too, because it will adjust your spot.
- 41:30Depending on where you scan, there is a little Geo fence
- 41:36around your pinpoint. Weeks.
- 41:38So if you are close to those pinpoints, it will give you that
- 41:41pinpoint. So, you got to make sure you're
- 41:45scanning where you say you're scanning it.
- 41:50Well, and talking about the geofence, it's the same way when
- 41:54management says, oh you have a package that you know, was Miss,
- 41:58Roan take, take it and drive it down the street and scan it as
- 42:02you know, address blocked or whatever.
- 42:04So they want you to falsify the information so they can use it
- 42:07off their scan reports and that geofence is real because of the
- 42:11fact that for our property if you're within 100 yards of it it
- 42:15shows you're still at the post office and that's what they call
- 42:19it. Tegra T scans and there's no
- 42:21Integrity taking them out and scanning them like that.
- 42:24Yep. You tell them if they're
- 42:26watching if they want you to falsify a scan like that you
- 42:29tell them you want it in writing that they want you to falsify a
- 42:33scam because F falsifying a government document by doing
- 42:37that. If you'd like to go out and it's
- 42:43a second trip, three minutes per mile plus load time.
- 42:50We all know slow down or no. Well yes, low time on the
- 42:55scanner for your evaluation but you get three minutes per mile
- 42:58to go to live, right? Yeah.
- 43:02We're you do what bill says. I'm not falsifying the
- 43:06information. You do what you want?
- 43:11Yeah, I don't want to know how many packages have been
- 43:13delivered to a mailbox from the eye doctors office on the other
- 43:17side of our parking lot. Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 43:22I really I don't I don't want to know not going to I'm not going
- 43:25to assist management committing a felony.
- 43:27Nope I'm sorry. I'm not I'm not going to risk my
- 43:31job for your integrity scans. I'm not going to risk jail time
- 43:39for your integrity. That reminds me of a Not a rumor
- 43:45that, you know, there was a package on my case, when I came
- 43:48back and the supervisor said, you know, oh, we found is while
- 43:52you're out. I said, well, would you like me
- 43:54to take it out because, you know, at that particular day, I
- 43:57had time to, you know, do a second run and they said no, no
- 44:01will do it. Integrity scan.
- 44:03So being the type of person I am and you appreciate this.
- 44:09I recorded the tracking number. And I went home and I checked
- 44:14the tracking number and it was received at 450 6 p.m. at West
- 44:19Chester, Pennsylvania. The same time, she defected that
- 44:24scan. That's an Integrity scan.
- 44:31It's a bold. Outright lie.
- 44:43The only Integrity that that have is that they do get called
- 44:46up and Report the next day, Yeah, because they were scanned
- 44:50off property, that whole ski can't scan anything on the
- 44:53office after 3, p.m. be us. Yeah.
- 44:59Unless you you lie about it you scan it on the truck for you
- 45:04walk in now but that's all the parking lot.
- 45:08Yeah, Mark a little show it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:15So if you have management is telling you to do something that
- 45:18you believe is illegal immoral or dangerous.
- 45:22You do have a right to refuse. For make sure that if management
- 45:27wants you to do something, you get it in writing first.
- 45:32Today, I want to make sure we're clear on this.
- 45:34I need it in writing to make sure we're clear on this because
- 45:38otherwise it's his word against your hearsay.
- 45:42And unfortunately in that instance, most often the carrier
- 45:45losses against management and those arguments Can you explain
- 45:49the immoral one? Because I'm not sure after 25
- 45:52years at the post office. What's immoral anymore.
- 46:00Just say I would help that would be like, trying tell trying to
- 46:03tell you to deliver make it. Oh I would we know.
- 46:09Yes. You have to have, you don't have
- 46:39morals to go out and lie about scans.
- 46:44It's also illegal to do that. Most immoral things are illegal.
- 46:49I said most because some states do allow immoral things to occur
- 46:53and that's carrier discretion. As to what's a moral?
- 46:59Well, yeah, and I'll bite my tongue on which states they are
- 47:05here in one of them Bill. No, not exactly.
- 47:17It took the better part of three years just to get the engineers
- 47:32that together. It tooks what?
- 47:34Another 45 for them, they kind of sort out what they thought
- 47:37they were tracking and how they were tracking it and what
- 47:40credits were what and you know, you come to September and they
- 47:45delay it again. Even though Due in August before
- 47:48the convention then and and yet management still did nothing to
- 47:53get their people trained and up to speed on this and thank God
- 47:57for offices like mine. And you know, my co-host and all
- 48:01that we went, we made the effort to make sure our offices were
- 48:04aware of what was coming down the pike, what to be doing.
- 48:07And not not eight weeks before too many mail survey, but a year
- 48:11and two years ahead of time and since I was a test office, you
- 48:16know, from the get-go. We've been on this ever since
- 48:20and still people failed to do it and I cannot explain anymore and
- 48:27clearly than to say, if it goes in your scanner, it goes your
- 48:31wallet. So you're responsible for your
- 48:35pay. Yeah, if you feel something
- 48:39needs to be in your scanner, it probably does.
- 48:43That's how I look at it. Scarier discretion on that.
- 48:47But the biggest thing that I can say is, if you feel you deserve
- 48:50a scan, but the scan in because only you can know whether that's
- 48:56can needs to be in there or not management.
- 48:58Definitely does not know if this can needs to be in there or not.
- 49:04And if you have carriers next to you, that you see something that
- 49:09could be asked in, hey, did you put in WSS for that marriage
- 49:13mail? This week you can ask nicely,
- 49:17you can go around and talk your cares and be like, hey make sure
- 49:20you put W SS in for the marriage male.
- 49:22Make sure you put in Unscanned parcel for that because it's a,
- 49:27it's a photo. No, that's that's the size of a
- 49:31parcel. Make sure you put in on scan,
- 49:33parcel for that because it doesn't have a barcode on it.
- 49:38Or how about this one? How about this?
- 49:40One yo, we all get different versions of the ad bows, red
- 49:43plums, marriage, mail, whatever, And we have a separate barcode
- 49:48that we have to scan for the advo printer in my case, it's
- 49:53red plum, and then management turns around and tells you oh no
- 49:57you don't put that in WSS. It's already entered when you do
- 50:01the Advil and I look at him. I said are you kidding me?
- 50:06You know it's not how it's not that no it's not but the thing
- 50:13of it is Management's under you know under the guise that if you
- 50:17do the advo it goes automatically into twss.
- 50:20I'm like okay. Help me out here folks.
- 50:25One know because everything I announce you do your adverse
- 50:32cans and make sure you put them into your rule, carrier study.
- 50:39Yep, I do the same thing and I rode a Now remind, you know, raw
- 50:45box holders that you get to. Those are important to put in
- 50:48there even if they come in a tray from a plant and they're
- 50:52separate from the mail, put it in there because if it's any
- 50:57separate tray that means it did not go on automation.
- 50:59Yeah. Even if it's labeled for your
- 51:03route. It did not go through automation
- 51:05to get there. Explain why that is.
- 51:15I understand, but explain for our listeners, why you would do
- 51:18that. So when they talk about wsf
- 51:23letter, specifically, because we don't have FSS Platte City more,
- 51:28when they put the mail through the automation process to sort
- 51:34it for your route, it automatically takes a picture of
- 51:37the mail reads, the barcode underneath the address or in the
- 51:41lower corner of the thing. There's also orange bars on the
- 51:46back of the envelope that are part of the automation process
- 51:50in the biggest thing is is that barcode on the front and the
- 51:53back, direct it to your route. Putting it through the
- 51:58automation, assigns it to your route through the informed
- 52:03visibility, which is different from informed delivery.
- 52:08But the informed visibility is ver way of tracking mail through
- 52:12the system. As part of those SPM scans, you
- 52:15get and it actually routes it to your route in order DPS.
- 52:20But if they send it to you in a tray, where it's even if it's in
- 52:27order, Or something most likely that was done by the shipper who
- 52:32put it together and send it off to the plant to be sorted to the
- 52:36routes. It's literally grabbed by the
- 52:38people at the plant and put on a cart to go to your route, to go
- 52:43to your office. That's it.
- 52:44They don't put it on the machine.
- 52:46They don't run it through the machines.
- 52:47They just literally transfer from one car to another and it
- 52:50goes to your office. So, you got to make sure you
- 52:53input that in because it's not counted on the DPS machine.
- 52:58If it's in your DPS, it's counted.
- 53:02But if it's separate, it's not. And 95% of that if not higher
- 53:09will not have any barcodes whatsoever on it, and even if
- 53:15they do, it'll be the front one and not the one on the back.
- 53:17That's part of the informed visibility, right?
- 53:20Because that's have the orange bars.
- 53:21Yeah. That's from the printer correct
- 53:24because that's from the DPS machine to sort it to your
- 53:26route. And that's that's the other
- 53:32thing is some people, they'll throw mail back saying it's
- 53:36forwarded Earth, been put to the wrong officer DPS, they'll put
- 53:39it up in there, 3M case, and it will come back to over and over
- 53:44because of those orange bars on the back.
- 53:46Even if you block out the error code, on the front, the orange
- 53:50bars, on the back, iron block off the the machine will read
- 53:52that and send it right back to your route.
- 53:55Yep. There's a lot that a lot to
- 54:01this, there's a lot to it, but the key to this is is the
- 54:07important part, is we've grown in the technology that we use.
- 54:12Back back before all the scanners and stuff like that
- 54:16male is hand routed. We didn't have DPS and then we
- 54:21got DPS, then we got scanners and then we got FSS for a while
- 54:26there and then we got rid of FSS because I would never
- 54:29profitable. And now we have Rex
- 54:35Technologies, been slowly improving at the post office.
- 54:40Very slowly because they don't like change.
- 54:43And that's the big thing here too.
- 54:45Is a lot of people don't like change but this is going to
- 54:50benefit us in the long run as long as we learn to step up, do
- 54:56our jobs and tell management we're doing our jobs correctly.
- 55:02That's the big thing. And anybody that gets called up
- 55:07on their scan activities, they can explain that, you know, hey,
- 55:12I never knew I never never feel follow the program.
- 55:16I did wasn't trained in this and that's the biggest one I was
- 55:19never trained in this even though.
- 55:23I trained my most of the people that Management's responsibility
- 55:28was to do the training, not mine.
- 55:29So if people have a fallback it's because management failed
- 55:33to do. The proper training.
- 55:36Just ask the question straight up, where's my day of day of in
- 55:40classroom training on this? Hmm, you have record of my day
- 55:44of in class training because you should have had a full day's
- 55:48training on this system. I can sit there and I can do a
- 55:52two-hour training on it, but it's not going to hit home.
- 55:58People need to sit down have a actual classroom time over this
- 56:03and learn the ins and outs of each specific scan and they're
- 56:07not providing that. So, you have to go by what your
- 56:10local designated union. Rep has given you, and the
- 56:14information you can glean from other sources that you find
- 56:18Reliable on that intent activity scans.
- 56:21In this podcast, I'm sorry. Hashtag Shameless plug.
- 56:32But you want to learn as much as you can about these because this
- 56:35is your paycheck, and that's the biggest thing.
- 56:38We're stressing, this is your wages.
- 56:41This is your benefits and this is part of your work conditions.
- 56:47And this is what you and your fellow carriers in your office,
- 56:50need to know and you need a place to go to get that
- 56:56information and the best place you can go to get that
- 56:59information is your local designated union representative.
- 57:03We can only give you our opinion on it.
- 57:07But your resource should be your union rep.
- 57:11They should be the ones that are properly trained on this.
- 57:14They should be the ones to be able to answer any question you
- 57:16have on it and they should be the ones you have conversations
- 57:21with about what Management's doing to you.
- 57:24They're your resource. They're supposed to be there for
- 57:27you. Go to them.
- 57:30If you don't know who they are you can find out for the NRL.
- 57:34See a website, you can contact your District rep to find out.
- 57:39You can contact National and ask them who your representative is.
- 57:43You can also use resource on Facebook, ask people around your
- 57:46area. Hey, do you know who my union
- 57:48rep is? Anybody can help you find out
- 57:52who your rep is and get you the information.
- 57:55You need to contact them. So Reach Out get the information
- 57:58from them because we may not be 100% accurate.
- 58:02I mean he'll I know I've made mistakes talking on this
- 58:05podcast. I'm the first one.
- 58:08It's it's like that old telephone game.
- 58:11We all played in Elementary, it starts off at one and by the
- 58:15time it gets to the end, it's completely different.
- 58:25Yeah, really out. We play different games in my
- 58:28school. Well, yeah, that wasn't even
- 58:34invented when you were in high school.
- 59:05Where they answer all the questions about Rex everything
- 59:08you need to know about it. Yeah, I'm so old school.
- 59:14I still get my notices on parchment written and quill.
- 59:20Yes. Well, it's an upgrade.
- 59:23I usually get it on Papyrus, but now, it's parchment for all
- 59:29youth egyptologist out there. You know, it's we support, we
- 59:36support our union members, whether they are dues-paying or
- 59:40nandu Spain, we we are all brothers and sisters in this
- 59:43craft. I'm going to forget the RCA's
- 59:49well you know they're in the union or not also so exactly
- 59:53aren't if we have them. Yeah yeah yeah really they did.
- 1:00:07It's just You know what y'all know what's funnier than not
- 1:00:12having an arc. Not ever seen the hark the
- 1:00:17holiday guys. You know he's around here.
- 1:00:24Yeah. When they sent them Flyers out
- 1:00:27to you know, all the retired employee.
- 1:00:29Yeah. Two of them live on my route and
- 1:00:32they specifically came out the laugh with me about mailing are.
- 1:00:39You could just be the only RCA with six routes on an offset
- 1:00:43Christmastime and reap those benefits, but it's still make it
- 1:00:48happen, all right? Yeah.
- 1:00:52I think I'm still recovering. A month later.
- 1:00:54But yeah, yeah. You need that time at State
- 1:00:59Convention to wind down from it? No.
- 1:01:02No, I'm going. I've got my complete.
- 1:01:05Get away in July. I'm good. this week, I'm at my
- 1:01:13next week where I will be Is there anything else you guys
- 1:01:35have in mind to talk about about management being on carriers?
- 1:01:41Well in the famous words of Bill May don't get stressed cause it
- 1:01:47so yeah. When they, when they turn the
- 1:01:49tables on you like the said as for the reports for the other
- 1:01:54routes, let's see. A comparative in regards to what
- 1:01:57everybody else is doing. Is anybody else getting these
- 1:02:01ionized or pdi's or, you know, display formal discussions in
- 1:02:05regards to our your skin activities?
- 1:02:08Yeah, don't just don't sit there and take it.
- 1:02:10You know, you can be I'll say quietly aggressive in defending
- 1:02:16yourself and if you know if you're not comfortable do that
- 1:02:20then you know, guess what? Get ahold of your local union
- 1:02:23rep or your ADR area, Steward and say look you know I'm being
- 1:02:28harassed. And I'll tell you what, you
- 1:02:31know, harassment doesn't last longer than 5 minutes my office
- 1:02:36because you know they have me but the thing is it is yeah but
- 1:02:42the thing of it is is that you you do not have to put up with
- 1:02:46that type of atmosphere at work. At all.
- 1:02:51Nobody should ever yell at a carrier on the floor.
- 1:02:54Nobody should ever demean anybody on the floor.
- 1:02:58And if they going to do it in the office and, you know, they
- 1:03:01better do it with either their union rep or a witness.
- 1:03:06So there's collaboration in regards to what was said, and
- 1:03:08who said it. Stand up for yourself.
- 1:03:13Never go alone with management. No, no, because it's your word
- 1:03:20against theirs and we know, they don't lie.
- 1:03:24Oh, nope. Not at all.
- 1:03:26No, they have. No reason to protect their
- 1:03:30position as a manager. No, no.
- 1:03:34They have no reason to place responsibility on others for
- 1:03:37their inability to do their job. As they say management has the
- 1:03:43right to miss manage an office in any way they deem fit.
- 1:03:46Well, the first time I heard that I flipped And anything you
- 1:03:52say can and will be misconstrued, misinterpreted,
- 1:03:56and misapplied to be used against you, amen.
- 1:04:00Yep. Yeah.
- 1:04:03I learned that from a lawyer says, I but I still spent five
- 1:04:09years in jail. That's because of how you talk
- 1:04:15to him, Bill? Well, at least he leaves.
- 1:04:18He got seven years. You got, you got contempt of
- 1:04:22cop. I once did beat a cop at his own
- 1:04:32Story here back in the years before we had picture licenses.
- 1:04:36Hmm. Because I spent a year and a
- 1:04:38half on a motorcycle traveling, the country up in the Canada,
- 1:04:41Alaska. I come back and I looked like
- 1:04:43something out of Woodstock, got caught.
- 1:04:47I got caught two blocks from my house.
- 1:04:49Speeding only ticket. I got in 18 months, okay, the
- 1:04:54turned around, I showed up in court, clean-cut suit, haircut,
- 1:04:58and everything, and the officer couldn't identify me because Cuz
- 1:05:02of the dramatic change. And the judge looked at me says,
- 1:05:05well if you can't identify the defendant, he said that the
- 1:05:08throw the case out he goes, this is a farce I'm about like you
- 1:05:12know sorry I hate to tell you but I'm me, birth certificate,
- 1:05:16everything High School pictures and I said you know, I don't
- 1:05:20know what he's talking about. Your honor.
- 1:05:24Wait till you had hair. I'd only had here.
- 1:05:32I had a ponytail. Yeah, of working.
- 1:05:38But working, as a steward, you pulled it all out.
- 1:05:42Oh no, that that was you know, marriage.
- 1:05:49He'll probably, that's why I don't get married.
- 1:05:53And I have the same problem. I had a lot.
- 1:05:55My hair and I had a long falling out, you know.
- 1:05:57So it's get it falling out. Yeah, he really was, you know, I
- 1:06:11always say my hair is hanging on by
- 1:06:24more appropriate. Not trying to correct your but,
- 1:06:31you know, this is more appropriate, it just, sounds
- 1:06:34like you're dragging that split ends there.
- 1:06:39Well, you sounds like you're splitting hairs.
- 1:06:44Okay guys, these jokes make me want to bother we've anyway.
- 1:06:56Back on topic. All right guys going down now.
- 1:07:03Yeah well lighten the mood there for everybody you know?
- 1:07:08Yeah. Sure are Lighter Side and we do
- 1:07:13have one specific. We can have fun while trying to
- 1:07:17help our fellow carriers, absolutely.
- 1:07:21Well, we do our business. As a reminder, we will be off
- 1:07:26next weekend since Michael be gone and James and I will be at
- 1:07:29State Convention so coy. Yeah.
- 1:07:35So we won't be around next week, so it'll be two weeks.
- 1:07:39For the next one. We supposedly jab, jab jab, you
- 1:07:51know, in the both times, I've lost the episode, it's been me.
- 1:07:55So it's it's all good. I like I said, I mean, I start
- 1:07:58that GoFundMe for a new computer.
- 1:08:02At least you have a track record now I do.
- 1:08:06Yeah, well, I got to if they'll send you, I'll make it all order
- 1:08:16if yeah and a flat rate box with no $2.50 taped up together.
- 1:08:28Oh you meant you and bail out of quarters.
- 1:08:35Yeah. When he said when I say when he
- 1:08:37said I have 250 for you I thought he was going to send it
- 1:08:40to half dollars. Yeah.
- 1:08:47Just send me your, send me your address.
- 1:08:49I'll send you a check? Yeah.
- 1:08:51Okay. Not really seeing a couple
- 1:08:53months. Anyways, there's a Best Buy up
- 1:08:57the road from where convention is, but You guys?
- 1:09:05Look at the table, too. Yeah, we'll take that up.
- 1:09:10Just if anybody knows, I did Reserve 10 spots for banquet.
- 1:09:14I think I have two, maybe three, open spots on to double check.
- 1:09:18And once everybody is confirmed and so if anybody makes it and
- 1:09:22they didn't get a banquet ticket and they want to come sit with
- 1:09:25us. I know I'll have at least two
- 1:09:27open so you better get a table for 40 then that'll be a fun
- 1:09:31night. Yeah, we don't we don't We don't
- 1:09:34play, we just nibble. Speak for yourself.
- 1:09:39Mmm. Doesn't sound like your final
- 1:09:50thoughts on this evening. Oh well yeah, like thank God.
- 1:09:56It was a day off for most of us. Sorry Kristen but it's another
- 1:10:04beautiful day and Just everybody please, you know, put the effort
- 1:10:10into your job, you know, learn what you can 5 minutes, 10
- 1:10:14minutes and night, you know, half an hour for a week.
- 1:10:17Or, you know, any time that you put in to educating yourself
- 1:10:21about your job, your responsibilities, your duties,
- 1:10:25The more likely that you're going to increase your paycheck
- 1:10:29learning how to do your job correctly, Management's, not
- 1:10:34going to help you. If you do, the six cans, they be
- 1:10:36happy as pie because that's all they're going to pay you on.
- 1:10:40If you don't do the rest of the scans, the postage ooh,
- 1:10:43certified money order application stamp stock sales
- 1:10:46rule reach. If you don't do them, you can't
- 1:10:49get paid for them, plain, and simple.
- 1:10:53So do the job, the best you can be safe, get home to your loved
- 1:10:59ones because I truly mean that every carrier, you know, is
- 1:11:04special to somebody and you're all in our hearts and our
- 1:11:08prayers, our minds and prayers that you go do your job and get
- 1:11:12home safely to your loved ones. All right, I had to go out and
- 1:11:19come back in again real quick, but I gotta follow up real
- 1:11:24quick. With the question that was asked
- 1:11:25of carriers going to be out for six to eight weeks.
- 1:11:27Can they leave written instructions without getting in
- 1:11:30trouble? So we can make sure they do the
- 1:11:32work specially the line of travel.
- 1:11:34Absolutely. And I still have regular
- 1:11:37carriers if they know they're going to be gone and there's
- 1:11:39something special, they leave notes at the case.
- 1:11:42When I first started my old regular, we had a notebook we
- 1:11:45left at the case all the time. I'm so you know what?
- 1:11:49If I was only working my one day a week, she'd write anything
- 1:11:52important in there and we have a bookmark where we left off.
- 1:11:55Then I know if she was going to be gone for a week, two weeks,
- 1:11:58whatever it was then I would write down anything important
- 1:12:02and leave the bookmark over. I've gotta definitely
- 1:12:05communication whatever you can leave for communication helps
- 1:12:09completely. You know, tomorrow's going to be
- 1:12:17a big day of the Monday, the day after Monday holiday.
- 1:12:22And so be safe out there. Don't rush it and be unsafe but
- 1:12:28do your job. Do your jobs correctly again
- 1:12:30will be off next week, so right. I'll just have a good week
- 1:12:37everyone. I'm going to be a meeting to go
- 1:12:41to tomorrow and then I'm off the rest of the week.
- 1:12:44Go to a family reunions out of town.
- 1:12:46So just be safe out there. Do your job, right?
- 1:12:51And we'll see you when I get back.
- 1:12:57Okay, my my final thoughts are, we're all in this together.
- 1:13:02We all have to support each other.
- 1:13:04We all have to take care of each other because we are the rural
- 1:13:07Union. We are the Royal craft
- 1:13:10dues-paying and non dues-paying. We need to take care of our
- 1:13:13brothers and sisters, especially in this time with management
- 1:13:17getting on everybody. You know, be a witness for one
- 1:13:21of your carriers in your office. If you have to help them,
- 1:13:24understand what these scans are. Because even if it's not your
- 1:13:28route, you may be helping the next RCA who takes that route
- 1:13:32help your RCA's out because they're going to affect your
- 1:13:36your evaluation just as much as you are especially if you get
- 1:13:40injured on the job you could be out to 36 weeks and they're
- 1:13:45they're doing the scans so then having the knowledge of all the
- 1:13:47scans that need to be done is imperative to your route.
- 1:13:52So, take care of each other. And Josh would say, you know, if
- 1:13:59you get overwhelmed, take a step back, take a deep breath, step
- 1:14:04back into it, and get back to work.
- 1:14:08Do the job to the best of your ability.
- 1:14:10And remember, at the end of the day, go home to your family
- 1:14:14because you're the most important delivery.
- 1:14:17Kristen your final thoughts. Yeah, I'm just following up with
- 1:14:21everybody else, you know, it's do your job.
- 1:14:23The way that you're supposed to do your job.
- 1:14:25Do your job. As if you eat the way you've
- 1:14:27done it this whole time, you know?
- 1:14:30And if you have that extra trip to the door put that scanner and
- 1:14:33it's just just do your job, your job correctly.
- 1:14:37Help the newbies out there that are still learning.
- 1:14:39So they understand it better. And I'm still working with the
- 1:14:43two other new guys and I've got another one coming in going to
- 1:14:47Academy this week, so you know, it's what kind of you got to
- 1:14:51remember, is when we were in the office, we work as a team, all
- 1:14:55right? On the route.
- 1:14:56We're on our owner. And it's our responsibility to
- 1:15:00keep everything going. So, on that note guys have a
- 1:15:02safe week and again, we'll be back in two weeks.
