- 0:00What is the hardest thing to plan when you're going on vacation?
- 0:04Is it setting up the bags? Is it preparing the artillery?
- 0:10What do you do when you know it's time to take a vacation?
- 0:14We have to talk about this. And what better person than the man himself who
- 0:19has been on plenty of his own private jets to Tahiti, to Hawaii,
- 0:24to pretty much everywhere you can think of all over the globe. the world traveler, Dr.
- 0:28E, who's back again from his, what, 20th trip of the year.
- 0:32And he's going to tell us, because he's the guru of how to have a successful vacation.
- 0:39And we're going to talk about our favorite parts of vacation,
- 0:43because have faith let it begin.
- 0:45Vacation, well, maybe I'll play, maybe I'll play the vacation. What's that?
- 0:51Oh, Chevy Chase. Yeah, this is right about now where we'll start playing the
- 0:56music, right about now. Starts right now.
- 0:58Music.
- 1:08Here is your host, Angel Santana, and special co-host, Dr. E.
- 1:14Have faith, let it begin. We started with the actual theme song to the Chevy Chase movies.
- 1:21I can't even think of the title right now. National Lampoon Vacation.
- 1:23National Lampoon. That's what the song was all about.
- 1:25Dr. E, it's vacation time. Are we going to Wally World?
- 1:29I love it. I got to tell you something. Vacations are what I live for.
- 1:33Vacations are that little oasis, that little area of respite from our day-to-day
- 1:39struggles, our day-to-day routines, our day-to-day stress, our day-to-day worries.
- 1:44And there's a week, one week a year, two weeks a year, however many weeks a year.
- 1:48You certainly overrepresented how much vacation I take. but I'd rather have
- 1:53it overrepresented than underrepresented.
- 1:55I am a big vacation fan and I have a ton of advice on how to,
- 2:01again, this podcast specifically, how to successfully prepare yourself,
- 2:06put yourself in a position to have the best vacation you can.
- 2:09Well, let's just point this out. It's the fact that anybody that goes on more
- 2:12than two trips is better at, equipped with talking about vacations and that's you.
- 2:18I do one every five years, but that's not the point. The point is,
- 2:21is that when we do go on vacation, there are certain rules.
- 2:25Yes. I actually have a list of rules for vacation. Here we go.
- 2:30And here's what we're going to talk about.
- 2:32Probably the one rule, the number one rule for sure.
- 2:36And this is what me and my kids and what I've been trying to cram down my,
- 2:40my wife's throat for the last 20 years is that never go on a vacation.
- 2:48Unless you have another vacation planned, because the pain that comes with leaving
- 2:56and ending a vacation is just too much.
- 2:59If you have nothing else to look forward to.
- 3:01So a vacation has a life.
- 3:04The life begins with the conception of the vacation.
- 3:08So you guys are going to digger land, bigger land.
- 3:13And you have one that night when you're sitting
- 3:16with Rachel and you're trying to pitch this Diggerland vacation
- 3:19on her and she's looking at you like you have
- 3:22three heads and you're absolutely lost your
- 3:25mind and she thinks I want a romantic weekend
- 3:29with you in Paris with with your parents watching the kids and you're thinking
- 3:33I'm taking you and the kids the Diggerland let's start with the conception so
- 3:38that's the conception of the vacation then the concept then when the vacation
- 3:42And then the beauty of a vacation is all the months that you look forward to going on vacation,
- 3:48you should get one of those apps like dream days or whatever,
- 3:52where you have a countdown to how many days you have 75 days,
- 3:5642 days, 22 days, seven days, one day.
- 4:00And that's part of the vacation, believe it or not. That build up and getting
- 4:06ready and do not look at travel days as travel days are a pain or they're,
- 4:10you know, uncomfortable or you have to get up at two o'clock in the morning
- 4:14and all that kind of stuff.
- 4:15Vacation days are part of your vacation and you get to go to airports and bus
- 4:21terminals and train stations or get in a car and go out of state or whatever. Yeah.
- 4:27Those are that's part of the vacation. Those are part of the stories that that's
- 4:32part of the whole process.
- 4:33And then the other thing that's crucial is enjoy the preparation for the vacation.
- 4:40Make that packing list. Make it two months ahead.
- 4:44Start packing ahead of time. Wash your pretty clothes. Put them away. Get them ready.
- 4:50Get the suitcases out. Get the mothballs out of the suitcases.
- 4:54Start packing start getting excited start
- 4:57making dinner reservations immediately for
- 5:01wherever you're going make your tours because you
- 5:04know if you don't when you get there you're going to be scratching your head
- 5:07saying why are all these people going to this great place when i can't get in
- 5:12it's because they were prepared and they did what they had to do to get ready
- 5:17for vacation So it's crucial that you guys, number one,
- 5:21never go on a vacation unless you have another vacation planned.
- 5:25Number two, prepare for your vacation. Number three, enjoy the prelude to vacation
- 5:30and the countdown to vacation, and then enjoy the travel days because that's what it's all about.
- 5:38And at the end of the day, Angel, the only thing
- 5:41that a vacation really is when you really distill it
- 5:44to its most essential form is
- 5:47it's that memory you're making a memory you're
- 5:51making a legacy between you and your loved ones
- 5:53you're going to choose the people you travel with you're not
- 5:57just going to go indiscriminately with some idiots that you don't even like
- 6:00you want to go with your kids your parents your loved ones your friends and
- 6:05you want to travel with them and make these memories because all i do when i'm
- 6:10together with my wife and my kids and we're having fun and we're just eating
- 6:14at the table, they'll say,
- 6:15Hey, you remember the time when we did this, sir?
- 6:18Remember the time when you freaked out or when you fell at the airport and you
- 6:21tore your, you tore your, your hamstring, or do you remember that meal we had
- 6:26in Greece? Or do you remember this or that?
- 6:29That's what it's all about, making the memories, because when you are ready
- 6:33to have your soul split from your mortal body and you're going up to meet your
- 6:39creator, you want your life to kind of be playing in front of your eyes.
- 6:43And the last thing you want to see are the memories of you listening to the
- 6:47ocean, feeling the sand, getting in the water, climbing that mountain,
- 6:54eating that meal, and being with your loved ones.
- 6:58Angel did i put it together nicely for you i did
- 7:01and there's two rules that you don't do before you
- 7:05go on vacation and i've broken both of them yes let
- 7:08me hear one do not watch jaws yes harm that's got to go on that's a horrible
- 7:14thing and i've watched all four four movies and i don't know why i did it but
- 7:18i did and number two yes i clean underwear yes you have to that's Well,
- 7:25I don't know if that's a new underwear.
- 7:27My new underwear. Yes. Don't wear the same stuff.
- 7:29No. Underwear. Yes. That's it.
- 7:32That's what my mom always said. You got to go with clean underwear.
- 7:34Anywhere you go, it's got to be clean.
- 7:36Love it. All right. Let's pray about it because God knows this vacation is going
- 7:40to be interesting. All right. Digger land. Let's go. That's it, man.
- 7:44Heavenly Father, we thank you for today's episode. We thank you for trips,

- 7:56they are the ones that we can laugh about.
- 7:58We pray that every single person gets to their destination and arrives there on a timely fashion.
- 8:04And if there's any type of accidents maybe possible in this realm of this world,
- 8:10let's try to get them out of our path. Let's not even think about them.
- 8:17Let's think about getting to your destination safely, Let's not rush.
