Join this discussion on new F-1 visa regulations which no longer require foreign nationals awaiting a change of status (COS) to an F-1 student visa to apply to change or extend their nonimmigrant status while the initial COS applications is pending. Previously. individuals had to file bridge applications for their current nonimmigrant status to ensure that there was no gap while awaiting an F-1 change of status. Individuals can qualify for an F-1 COS if they meet certain criteria, like lawful entry and valid nonimmigrant status.
