- 0:00and laced up let's go it's time for banter with
- 0:04the boys yo yo yo welcome back to banter with
- 0:14the boys fast laps where we got the bahrain recap
- 0:18saudi arabian preview i'll let joe stick to the
- 0:22the actual titles of the races and up the speed
- 0:25of course speaking of joe He's here this week.
- 0:28I am. Sweet. Welcome back, as always, Joe. I'm
- 0:35I'm here. You are here. You are here. Joe is
- 0:39here. And also here is Mike on the other side
- 0:42of the table. Mike. Mike. What is what is going
- 0:44on, Mike? Hello. I am also here. Also, Mike is
- 0:48also here. He is present. Present. Who else is
- 0:50here? Present. Smelty is here, of course, as
- 0:53always. And Kev, behind the camera. Kev Cam is
- 0:56not up yet. Nor is Kev Mike. So you will not
- 0:59hear him cussing us out yet. Okay. Yeah, let's
- 1:03see. Bahrain GP recap. Yeah, Kev, let's head
- 1:06right into it. And we're back. All right. No
- 1:21continuity issues here. No, everything's great.
- 1:24Everything's the same. Are we back? I should
- 1:27say that as a question mark. We're back? We're
- 1:30back? We are so back. No technical problems.
- 1:33We're going crazy. All right. Let's see. Typical
- 1:37pre -race banter, quality practice. Did you see
- 1:39anything that jumps out to you that you're excited?
- 1:41Joe's pulling out his highlighted notes. I did,
- 1:44yes. So why don't we start there? So first off,
- 1:46this is not... Just before we get into F1, because
- 1:49we're not going to want to talk about it after
- 1:50the fact, McLaren announced they are going to
- 1:53the World Endurance Championship. in 2027. McLaren's
- 1:56going back to Le Mans, baby. Wow, I did not hear
- 2:00that. That's fun stuff. Le Mans, I don't know
- 2:02if you guys ever watch it. It's 24 hours. It's
- 2:05crazy. I don't usually watch it, the full 24.
- 2:07That's fair. Most people don't. Same with Rolex
- 2:1124. I don't really watch the whole thing. I catch
- 2:15a good, I catch probably 18 hours of it. I think
- 2:17one year I caught a ton of it, and then I went
- 2:20to bed, and then I woke up. That year, there
- 2:22was more. safety cars than the actual race itself.
- 2:27Anyway, that's one of the biggest notes. Now
- 2:29talking about F1 specifically, FP2, Alonso had
- 2:35his wheel come off the car while he was driving.
- 2:39He was having some technical issues. His wheel
- 2:41came off and he put it back on and he kept on
- 2:44going. I made a note of one of the comments that
- 2:48the commentator made. They said... While it is
- 2:52off with the car moving, you have no directional
- 2:54control. That's new. No way. That's like a Will
- 3:00Buxton moment. And he's not in F1 anymore. He's
- 3:03an Indy. So glad they taught me that. His spirit.
- 3:05His spirit is here. Unbelievable. Isn't that
- 3:08crazy? Without a steering wheel, you can't turn.
- 3:12Guys. We've been doing it wrong. Anyway. Quali,
- 3:17Esteban crashed in Q2. Hulk got a lap deleted
- 3:20from Q1 while they were in Q3, which pushed him
- 3:24below Albon. But Albon did not get to compete
- 3:28in Q2, even though he technically was in Q2 because
- 3:31of the... I think it was just track limits. Which
- 3:35was a big issue in the GP, as we'll get into.
- 3:38Yes, yes. I mean, we'll talk about this a couple
- 3:40times today. Probably they got to be quicker
- 3:42on this stuff. It's ridiculous. Like Albon, he
- 3:45could have placed higher, right? Yeah, that's
- 3:48a shame. Besides that, Russell and Antonelli
- 3:52were hit with a one -place grid penalty after
- 3:54the race because they were in the fast lane of
- 3:57the pits before the restart timer started. Or
- 4:01the restart time was announced. So just one other
- 4:03little tidbit pre -race. That's all I have until
- 4:07the race came up. Yeah, and then lots of things
- 4:10happened. We were watching. We watched Qualian.
- 4:16I think you were the one that commented that
- 4:18when the drivers went out, that the stake pit
- 4:22wall was like, what are they doing? Where are
- 4:26they going? Wait, when was this? This was during
- 4:29quali when Russell and Kimmy went out after Esteban
- 4:32crashed and there was a safety car. And so technically,
- 4:35they weren't supposed to go out yet. Sure, sure.
- 4:37That's what they got. So the whole kick pit wall,
- 4:39you just saw them lean back and just look at
- 4:42the cars and go. Oh, my God. With that, let's
- 4:49head into the GP here. Let's see. I mean, to
- 4:51start off, we just mentioned some of these penalties
- 4:54here. Ridiculous amount of track limits. I mean,
- 4:57I think almost everybody got a warning, it felt
- 5:00like. Max was getting close to a black -white
- 5:04flag himself. So, let's see. We had Lando, who
- 5:08had the five seconds for being out of position
- 5:11at the start, which Max... The steward caught
- 5:15instantly and was instantly telling somebody.
- 5:20But he was right. I mean, it was pretty blatant.
- 5:22They showed his POV, and I was like, yeah, I
- 5:24wouldn't have missed that either. No, for sure.
- 5:26Let's see. Isaac and Antonelli both ended up
- 5:29getting black and white flag. Are they the only
- 5:30ones that got the black and white? Lando also
- 5:32got one. Lando did get one, too. I want to say
- 5:34one other person got one. But, yeah, I remember
- 5:36Lando getting one because he was fighting George.
- 5:40Why was this such a massive problem? Now, I know
- 5:42Antonelli, like, honestly, was racing fairly
- 5:45aggressive. It's more aggressive than I've seen
- 5:49him race yet this season, which was kind of fun,
- 5:51but we can get into that later. But so many.
- 5:54Why is it such an issue here? So one of the reasons,
- 5:58which it's a good reason, there was a lot of
- 6:00really hard fighting between drivers. And so
- 6:02people were getting pushed off track quite a
- 6:04bit. And that's why Lando got to black and white
- 6:06so quickly is because he was fighting with Charles.
- 6:09I'm pretty sure it was Charles. And he went off
- 6:12track. He had to give position back to Charles
- 6:13at one point because he went off track. And that's
- 6:17like. Like, that's not just, like, a racing incident.
- 6:19That is a black, like, that is track limits no
- 6:21matter what. Like, you go off track, even if
- 6:23you lock up, you go off track, that's going to
- 6:25be track limits. And there was a couple of lockups,
- 6:28too, I will say. There were a few of those we
- 6:30saw as well. But good fighting being one. And
- 6:33then the other one, we have five rookies on the
- 6:35grid. Things are going to happen. We have a broken
- 6:37Red Bull on the grid. It's also worth noting
- 6:40that Bahrain is in the desert. And because of
- 6:44that, there is a lot more sand that gets on the
- 6:45track. That affects tire grip and whatnot. Bahrain
- 6:48is already a track that drivers tend to spend
- 6:50a lot of time on the edge of the track. They
- 6:52go on the white line pretty frequently. And so
- 6:55some of that sand just means that they're bound
- 6:58to try and take the corners a little bit wider
- 7:00where they can so that they don't slide. Yeah,
- 7:02I can't imagine how much sand actually does end
- 7:04up on the track. A little bit. It's enough to
- 7:07affect the tires. For sure. I mean, when you're...
- 7:10Going high G's and corners and stuff. Yeah, it's
- 7:12going to affect things. I think they're going
- 7:13so fast that it just turns to glass at that point.
- 7:16It's got a glass on the road. Anyway, Liam, you're
- 7:22right. Liam, lap 54, ended up getting a five
- 7:25-second penalty for causing a collision. And
- 7:28then another. 10 seconds. I'm sorry. I think
- 7:31the 10 second came at lap 54. I think the 5 second
- 7:34was earlier. Yeah, so 41 was his 5 second, and
- 7:3954 was his 10 second, and both were for causing
- 7:41a collision. Whoops. One of them with Hulkenberg,
- 7:44who also ended up getting DNF'd. So Liam ended
- 7:48up having a decent finish, but just dropped some...
- 7:51Oh, Hulkenberg finished. He just disqualified.
- 7:53He got disqualified after the race, but Liam
- 7:55had a decent finish, but then ended up because
- 7:57of the... The time limits get pushed back down.
- 8:01But then gained one because of Hulk, so whatever.
- 8:04Let's see. We had a safety car this race. We
- 8:08did. That was wild. I feel like we have not seen
- 8:10that very often yet this season. I think the
- 8:12commentators... Definitely not the first one,
- 8:15I don't think. I think the commentators said
- 8:16that this was like the fourth safety car we've
- 8:19seen this late on the track. Bahrain or this
- 8:23late in the race in Bahrain like safety cars
- 8:25just don't happen that late in Bahrain very frequently
- 8:27so very I mean it did restack everybody was interesting
- 8:32to get a restart I mean again I mean the start
- 8:35of the race plus the restart heading into the
- 8:37first turn just pure insanity and chaos it's
- 8:41fun but the drivers with the most skill came
- 8:43out on top Both times, I would say. And just
- 8:46with a better strategy. Like, I mean, first and
- 8:49foremost, both McLarens had new mediums. No one
- 8:53else had new mediums. So that was the best tire
- 8:56for this track, at least for that length of time.
- 8:58Yep. And then Piastri had clean air, so no one
- 9:01was catching them. Yeah, and then... Yeah, Oscar
- 9:04was dominant. Yeah. We can just get into McLaren
- 9:07if you want. Sure, yeah. Let's go for it. Go
- 9:08for it. You're a McLaren fanboy. Yeah, Oscar
- 9:10dominant. He stuck it in first, and he did not
- 9:12move. He it's a McLaren in clean air. I think
- 9:16that's just kind of that's where they are most
- 9:18dominant at the moment. And also mediums, too.
- 9:20Like they seem to be really good on mediums.
- 9:23And then Lando with the unfortunate, unfortunate
- 9:26five second penalty. If he didn't get that penalty,
- 9:29he would have finished P2. I think fairly handedly
- 9:32he would have had it by safety car restart. Well,
- 9:35by the safety car restart, you think? Because
- 9:38George was fairly dominant until he started having
- 9:41the issues at the end. didn't yeah but i i think
- 9:44there was like there were many many times when
- 9:48he was within five seconds and obviously he would
- 9:50have to fight sure but you know i i think there
- 9:53there are definitely times beforehand where by
- 9:55the end of the race for sure i give that a hundred
- 9:57percent well yeah george himself had said in
- 9:59the post race interview that he's like yeah give
- 10:02it another lap or two and i don't know if i could
- 10:04have fought lando off yeah george george had
- 10:06you know those softs and we'll talk about Mercedes
- 10:09in a second as well. But, I mean, still, P1,
- 10:12P3, very, very good. Podium sweep. Result, yeah.
- 10:16Podium sweep. Sweep. Yeah. Lando keeps his lead.
- 10:23Oscar slots in right behind him. Oscar, again,
- 10:25showing pace, though. Yep. Three points. Better
- 10:27pace than Lando. Three points. And it was the
- 10:30whole weekend. Three points from Oscar. Three
- 10:32points from Oscar? Yeah, and that's fine. I mean,
- 10:33it's a McLaren driver, right? Yep. And that's,
- 10:36I mean. If we are Lando, then yeah, we're a little
- 10:39worried because Oscar is, he's fast. If we're
- 10:42Oscar, we're feeling good because if Oscar had
- 10:44finished in P2, like he probably should have
- 10:46in Melbourne, Oscar would be leading constructives
- 10:49right now by, if I remember correctly, like 10
- 10:51points. WDC, yeah. Or WDC, yep. I'm going to
- 10:53stand on it. It's going to be an issue. At some
- 10:56point, it's going to be an issue and they're
- 10:58going to have to like publicly. They've done
- 10:59well so far, right? For sure, for sure. We've
- 11:02seen a couple moments when, I mean, last race,
- 11:04not Bahrain. oscar oscar did say no you're good
- 11:08you're good you're good oscar did ask like hey
- 11:10i can probably catch mask and max and like they
- 11:13just ignored it pretty much i know and that i'm
- 11:15not okay with like that to me that's them picking
- 11:19lando which we already know like for me this
- 11:21season it feels like they would pick lando anyway
- 11:24but it's going to be difficult if oscar continues
- 11:27to show better pitch i i could see them picking
- 11:31lando but i don't think they're going to remove
- 11:34oscar's chance like they're not going to intentionally
- 11:37you know like if they're if they're both like
- 11:4115 seconds ahead are you giving it an oscar's
- 11:46leading the race ahead let them race oh they
- 11:49should not they should not be doing any driver's
- 11:52orders by any means If they are both still 1
- 11:56-2 in the championship, you need to let them
- 11:58race. You do not do team orders in that situation,
- 12:01especially if you're 15 seconds ahead. You tell
- 12:03them to race smart. You tell them not to crash,
- 12:05but you don't give them orders. I also think,
- 12:09though, you don't tell them to keep position
- 12:11either. You let them race. You almost don't say
- 12:13anything. Just see what happens. But ideally,
- 12:16maybe remind them if it starts getting dicey,
- 12:18hey, play nice. But you get one of the drivers
- 12:19that says, hey, I'm faster than the guy in front.
- 12:21Tell him to, you know. There's a info. There's
- 12:25a different content creator who I watch who's
- 12:27been making. He's been calling this for a little
- 12:29while. He said that, you know, these two drivers
- 12:30are going to be going at each other. And if you're
- 12:32Lando, you're a little like maybe a little stressed
- 12:35out by this because this new hot gun that shows
- 12:37up and is really putting a great result. Whoever
- 12:40that is, he's attributing this. And he's like,
- 12:43we've seen something like this happen once before.
- 12:45And it was sent across. when those two showed
- 12:49up and like, this was the exact same situation
- 12:51where one was a veteran, the other one showed
- 12:52up and just got the good car. And then they like,
- 12:55it was, and it was like a big, big heated argument.
- 12:58And then the two drivers started having big problems
- 13:00with each other. And he's like, I hope we don't
- 13:02see that, but also it would be a little spicy,
- 13:05you know? And this is nowhere near the same as
- 13:08Senna props. Right. But, but Danny Rick and Max,
- 13:11when Max first came, it was a similar thing.
- 13:13Also on Mac, you know, They're not finishing
- 13:16races because of it. I mean, just look at it.
- 13:18That would become a problem. I agree. I don't
- 13:20see that happening. I don't think they're going
- 13:22to be wrecking each other. But I just think it's
- 13:26going to be difficult at some point. Again, as
- 13:28a McLaren fan, you're probably thrilled. Like,
- 13:30this is awesome. Cloud nine. Constructors has
- 13:33already won. I don't, at this point, I don't
- 13:38really. I care that one of them wins WDC. I don't
- 13:42care which one. I'd be just as happy to see Oscar.
- 13:44For sure. These last two years, I've become a
- 13:47huge Oscar fan, almost to the point of Lando,
- 13:49if not surpassing Lando sometimes. I love Oscar
- 13:53Piastri. I think he's such a good driver, and
- 13:55he's just a natural talent. I do hope that because
- 13:59he's been in that car for three years, and they've
- 14:01been together, and they seem to have pretty good
- 14:03camaraderie and a decent relationship, at least.
- 14:07I don't think they're the best of friends ever,
- 14:08but they're not. they don't dislike each other
- 14:10i would hope that that you know keeps things
- 14:13at least breeze nice and breezy between them
- 14:16off track and then on track they can you know
- 14:18do what they do best and race you know i think
- 14:22i uh i'm actually a little afraid to say this
- 14:25i think oscar might like sometimes i think he's
- 14:29more refined than lando You know, sometimes.
- 14:32I mean, the weird... It was a weird issue with
- 14:36that five -second penalty right off the bat.
- 14:38Like, I don't see Oscar doing that a lot, but
- 14:41I've seen Lando... That's what I'm saying. Lando
- 14:44has always historically not... awesome at start
- 14:46so it's like when it happened i was like whatever
- 14:49he's still in a fast car he'll be able to battle
- 14:51back up and we saw him do that but you're so
- 14:53right and it sucks because he actually had an
- 14:55amazing race start but it was ruined it was ruined
- 14:59because he was he was a little bit ahead of the
- 15:01box yeah it's yeah it's tough we we don't see
- 15:05oscar my point is we don't see oscar do that
- 15:07he's like relatively consistent. I think like
- 15:09overall skill, maybe a little behind Lando, but
- 15:12I think he doesn't make the weird mistakes that
- 15:14Lando does consistently. Sure. So that's kind
- 15:17of my, my McLaren take. I'm still happy if either
- 15:20of them win. Obviously I'm a very happy guy right
- 15:22now. Both of my drivers are top two and they're
- 15:25in constructors lead. I'm, I'm good. For sure.
- 15:28For sure. Yeah. A hundred percent as a McLaren
- 15:30fan. I did just put in one little tidbit. I said,
- 15:33Zach Brown must be tickled, tickled pink, thinking
- 15:36about where this team has come over the past
- 15:38few years. I mean, it's got to feel good. Again,
- 15:40cloud, the cloud nine feeling one, three. I mean,
- 15:44this one being dominant, this barring last year,
- 15:46barring last year, they weren't fighting for
- 15:48the win. No, no. And right now teams are trying
- 15:51to figure out how to fight for the win against
- 15:53them. So Mercedes, George Russell going P2, Kimmy
- 15:56P11. George honestly had a great day again. Yes.
- 16:01Towards the end. He was having some malfunctions,
- 16:04the whole DRS thing. I think the engineer basically
- 16:08came on the comms and was like, hey, you're going
- 16:10to lose your screen and everything. Just keep
- 16:12going. And then he made the joke or something
- 16:15about, well, at least as long as my steering
- 16:16wheel doesn't fall off. Yeah, I was going to
- 16:19save it, but you're good. You're good. You're
- 16:22good. You're good. You're good. He called it.
- 16:24It was hilarious. Yeah, that was amazing. So
- 16:27funny. But George Russell, again, another great.
- 16:30Just great race all the way around. Great weekend
- 16:32all the way around. You know, consistent. You
- 16:36know, he's just more and more consistent. And,
- 16:39I mean, I don't think dark horse for WDC by any
- 16:45means. But I think he could win a race or two
- 16:47this year. Of course. I don't see why not. You
- 16:49know, win McLaren's wreck each other. I'm sorry,
- 16:52you say he's not a dark horse as in, like, you
- 16:53don't think he's going to win WDC? No, he could
- 16:57at some point. But, like, this year it's going
- 16:59to be. hard pressed for it to not be Oscar Orlando.
- 17:02Interesting. But I think he'll be, I think he'll
- 17:03be a good battle, but that's, I don't think it's
- 17:06going to be right. I mean, race I'm seeing more
- 17:08and more than I'm like, Hmm, this might. This
- 17:11might be Oscar's year. But that's what I mean.
- 17:14Yeah. Oh, you're talking about George. Oh, I
- 17:16don't know. I don't know why my brain is. Did
- 17:18I say Oscar? What the heck? No, you didn't. No,
- 17:19this is totally me. That's a Mike thing. I was
- 17:21like, dang. My brain went somewhere else. No,
- 17:24okay, George. George is entirely different. I
- 17:26don't know. I personally don't really see him
- 17:28as much of a WDC champion. I see him as someone
- 17:30who. At all, ever? I don't think he's going to
- 17:32win a WDC. Especially given our field. I think
- 17:34he could. Especially given our field. Unless
- 17:36the Mercedes comes out next year, just guns a
- 17:38blazing. And that's just it. We have no idea.
- 17:41Exactly. We have no idea. It could be Alpine.
- 17:44No, I'm just kidding. We have no idea. I need
- 17:47a 2016 Mercedes for him to win a WDC championship.
- 17:50Fair enough. That's all I'm saying. Fair enough.
- 17:51But we know he can drive it. We know he can drive
- 17:54it. I know if he's got a super dominant car and
- 17:57the other field isn't as dominant, he's capable.
- 18:02If it comes down to just raw talent, I don't
- 18:05think it's there. I think he's incredibly talented,
- 18:07but he's not as talented as like a Max Verstappen,
- 18:10as like a Lewis Hamilton, as like a Charles Leclerc,
- 18:14as potentially Oscar Piastri. Fair enough. What
- 18:18about Kimi? Kimi P11, just outside the points.
- 18:23I thought he had a decent race. He had a good
- 18:25race. My only concern, and I only bring this
- 18:28up so I coach. football for those of you in other
- 18:31countries american football is what i coach um
- 18:34but like sometimes these these kids are running
- 18:37and when they're running they're they're not
- 18:38they're like running out of control if that makes
- 18:40sense you know arms failing legs failing they're
- 18:42not they're not in control their bodies and that's
- 18:44kind of how i felt about kimmy like he wasn't
- 18:46fully in control of the car i just felt like
- 18:48he was taking chances all race they were mostly
- 18:51working. You know, there was the one point early
- 18:53on where he flew off the track. It might have
- 18:55even been lap one. I can't remember. And then
- 18:57gave the place back right away. I think it was
- 18:59to Pierre, so that's probably why I remember
- 19:01it. But, you know, he just didn't feel fully
- 19:04in control. But it was nice seeing him take more
- 19:06chances, though, at the same time. So I think
- 19:09he's just getting more and more comfortable with
- 19:11the car to the point where now he is going to
- 19:12start taking maybe a little bit more. Couple
- 19:15more chances. No, yeah, I agree. I think this
- 19:19was, in my opinion, probably one of his best
- 19:21showings. And I think he was just a little, I
- 19:23think he was messed up by strategy. Just looking
- 19:25at the stats, he was the only one, except for
- 19:27Sainz, who DNF'd, that had three pit stops. So
- 19:30he just had... Unfortunately, unlucky strategy.
- 19:32He would have been higher if he was on a two
- 19:35-stop like everyone else. And he had some really,
- 19:38really good overtakes. Kimmy? Yeah. He was driving.
- 19:44I think I voted for him for driver of the day
- 19:47as well because I just liked what he was doing.
- 19:50He was making moves, and he just got caught out
- 19:52for unfortunate strategy. Or just bad timing.
- 19:56And he started the race really well. He did.
- 19:59Battling the Ferraris. I mean, it looked good.
- 20:02It looked good. Let's see. Ferrari. I don't actually
- 20:05have any notes on Ferrari for some reason. I
- 20:07see. So, Charles P4, Lewis P5. I guess that's
- 20:11what we're expecting out of them at this point.
- 20:13So, what do you mean that's what they want? It's
- 20:16what they want right now. Like, given where their
- 20:18car is at and where the rest of the field is
- 20:20at, this is good. Until they nail down whatever
- 20:23this... You finish in front of Red Bull. Both
- 20:25Red Bulls. Yep. And in front of a Mercedes. They're
- 20:28close to the podium. You see Charles Leclerc
- 20:30is getting closer and closer to that podium with
- 20:32every race. Oh, I'm aware. I don't think he's
- 20:34going to win WGC. But, but. Yeah, I might have
- 20:37given Ferrari a little too much chutzpah at the
- 20:40start of this one. That's what I said, right?
- 20:41There's the constructors. No, I think he's right
- 20:44there. You see where it says Charles? It says
- 20:46Charles at the top there. Joe, I think you're...
- 20:49You know what? This is pish -posh. I don't know
- 20:51what this is. I don't know what you're talking
- 20:53about. I don't think this is actually from when
- 20:55we did this. This doesn't mean anything. Don't
- 20:58worry about that. Just ignore that. Ferrari,
- 21:00good for you. 4 .5. Good race. Interesting. The
- 21:03top three are exactly what they're at right now.
- 21:05For me, at least. That's cool. Right, guys? That's
- 21:08pretty cool. Where are we? The Max Bowls, Red
- 21:12Bowls. It's been five races? Max, P6, Yuki, P9.
- 21:16That car was broken this weekend. My only note
- 21:18is Max, a rubbish start for once. His start was
- 21:21horrible. I had to go back and watch it again
- 21:24just for his start because I was like, how the
- 21:26heck did he fall back so far? And it was just
- 21:28bad. I've never seen him start so bad. I don't
- 21:30think that got to be the worst start I've ever
- 21:32seen. Incredibly, he is a human. Right, right.
- 21:36Yeah, I don't know. He just did. battling the
- 21:39car and i think yuki getting in points is huge
- 21:41this week uh yeah we said he needed to start
- 21:44getting in points but again along the broken
- 21:46car aspect like yuki drove the crap out of the
- 21:50car too just to get into points so i mean against
- 21:53and again with haas we'll get to haas p8 and
- 21:56p10 but haas actually had some pace and you you
- 22:00know battling haas this weekend would have been
- 22:02no joke so again you could get in p9 i think
- 22:05i think that's that's fair for where this car's
- 22:08at. Obviously, there's some news about Max and
- 22:11stuff, but we'll save that maybe. But, like,
- 22:14is Red Bull really concerned right now about
- 22:17the performance of this car for the rest of the
- 22:18season? Or are they kind of, you know, let's
- 22:21ride it out, let's get, you know, maybe second
- 22:23or third in the constructors and get ready for
- 22:2626? I think they should be concerned. I mean,
- 22:30we're only four races in, but people are, like,
- 22:32freaking out. I think they should be concerned,
- 22:34you know, because it's... It's not good timing.
- 22:38You had so many driver swaps all of a sudden.
- 22:40Like, for a long time, your biggest worry was
- 22:43your second driver. And now, honestly, it's not.
- 22:47I think Yuki has more or less, like, he's met
- 22:51my expectations. He's already beating what Liam
- 22:54would have gave you this race for sure. 100%.
- 22:56So, done. They need to, like, even if they're
- 23:00not competitive all the time with first place.
- 23:03They need to fix the car, at least for Yuki's
- 23:05sake, right? He needs to be able to drive it
- 23:08and get them decent points for constructors.
- 23:10And maybe for Max's sake? Well, yeah. For Max's
- 23:14sake as well. I'm only saying for Yuki's sake
- 23:17because Max seemingly can drive a tractor. Whatever.
- 23:19Yeah. Max can drive a clapped out Honda Civic
- 23:23and beat anybody. As long as the light turns
- 23:25green. Right. Right. Let's see. Alpine. man that
- 23:35was awesome honestly and honestly max passing
- 23:39ghastly at the end of the race really frustrated
- 23:41me like i was really excited for p6 and then
- 23:44i got extremely disappointed as soon as like
- 23:47because they didn't show it no they didn't show
- 23:49the actual battle but they showed in the highlight
- 23:51video funny enough oh they did but watching the
- 23:54race like i didn't see it uh right after or like
- 23:58they showed it for like two seconds and then
- 23:59went to something else right after the race they
- 24:01like showed they showed it again did they yeah
- 24:04they did they did a quick interviews and stuff
- 24:06they did a quick recap of it and i was like oh
- 24:08yeah sure so max just was max yeah like there
- 24:11was no fighting that no no because i was like
- 24:14watching the little thing on the you know the
- 24:16freaking you know Timing tower. Timing tower.
- 24:19Yeah. Thanks. Yeah. I was watching that for the
- 24:22end of the race for Gasly. Like, come on, come
- 24:23on, come on, come on, come on, come on. And then
- 24:25it switched. I was like, damn, dang it. Doing
- 24:28the same thing. Yeah. So anyway, Gasly getting
- 24:31P7. I'm still happy about it. Don't get me wrong.
- 24:34Okay. So Jack doing P14. Jack doing in this race.
- 24:42Gained me. I'll give him at least two more races
- 24:45before I'm putting Colapinto in there. Because
- 24:47of this race. I think I saw enough from Jack.
- 24:50Like, yeah, he gave up, like, five spots in,
- 24:53like, the course of, like, a lap or two. But
- 24:55I think his tires were just garbage. He couldn't
- 24:57handle the car anymore, whatever. But until that
- 25:00point, he was running P9 most of the race and
- 25:03battling, again, the Haas, which had some pace,
- 25:06being able to beat out the Williams, which just
- 25:09straight up didn't look good in the GP compared
- 25:12to the Quali. I didn't think so. I mean, Albon
- 25:14was running well for a while, but Carlos didn't.
- 25:17Now I'm starting to talk about Williams. Well,
- 25:18yeah, we'll talk about Williams when we get back.
- 25:20That's a good point. Yeah, thank you. Anyway,
- 25:22but Alpine. Again, Jack, I think, earned two
- 25:25more races from me. Are you guys ready to pull
- 25:27Jack out of the car? Put Colapinto in there?
- 25:30Have you heard the word from Alpine? What the
- 25:34word? The bird? The bird is the word. The Jack
- 25:36bird. Alpine has pretty much come out and stated
- 25:40the fact that while Flavio is seemingly eager
- 25:44to put Colapinto in the car. The management and
- 25:50the team principal who... What's his name again?
- 25:53I'm losing it. Team principal for Alpine? Alpine.
- 25:56Isn't that Oaks? Oaks, yeah. Jonathan Oaks, yeah.
- 25:59Oliver Oaks? Oliver Oaks. Oliver Oaks. Yeah,
- 26:04him and the rest of the management for Alpine
- 26:06was like, Flavio, shut up. We're keeping Jack
- 26:09here until at least the summer break to give
- 26:13him a bit of a grace period for him to learn
- 26:16the car. We have expectations for our driver,
- 26:18and we do think that right now he is meeting
- 26:20those expectations. So unless things change,
- 26:23you can expect to see Jack doing in the car until...
- 26:27the summer break, at least. I'm about that. Thank
- 26:30God you told me some Alpine news today. So that
- 26:32was kind of the good news. Yeah. That was kind
- 26:35of the good news for Alpine, and for Jack especially,
- 26:38who probably heard this and was like, But now
- 26:41you've got to perform again next week. I'm not
- 26:43saying you've got to get in points. Yes. But
- 26:45for me, an expectation for Jack is P10 to P13.
- 26:49You've got to be in that window. Okay. For me.
- 26:51You've got to be battling in that window. Well,
- 26:53given what we've seen out of the Alpine so far
- 26:55this weekend, or this year, this last weekend.
- 26:58We're starting to trend in the right direction.
- 26:59It was a good look. It was a good look. And he
- 27:01looked fast in quality for a little bit. P11,
- 27:04right? I think he ended up getting quality. Something
- 27:07like that, yeah. He looked pretty good. One outside
- 27:09Q1. I remember being mind -boggled when I saw
- 27:13at one point that he set a lap and he was second
- 27:16fastest. And I was like, I'm sorry, does that
- 27:18say do? Is that what you call a Pinto? That's
- 27:21not my Jack doing. Not my Jack doing. Oh, my
- 27:26God. Haas, go. Haas, yeah, this was an amazing
- 27:28race. I'm super happy. Cars were amazing. Joe
- 27:32talked a little bit about Driver of the Day.
- 27:34I did vote Oliver Behrman for Driver of the Day,
- 27:36and I do believe he earned it. I think that's
- 27:38a great vote. I mean, he started P18, right?
- 27:4120. Oh, it was last. He was dead last. He started
- 27:44P20 and drove up to P10 with some help from a
- 27:48safety car. Admittedly, Haas did get some advantages
- 27:50from the safety car, but that's just kind of
- 27:52how it goes. And so both drivers drove really
- 27:56good. They put themselves up in the points. They
- 27:57kept themselves in the points with Esteban's
- 28:00case. double point finish and they are now fifth
- 28:03in constructors one point ahead of williams which
- 28:06is incredibly right where i put them ain't that
- 28:10right joe i see you taking notes did you that's
- 28:13crazy we don't listen to that it doesn't make
- 28:17any sense doesn't make any sense um no i gotta
- 28:21give it to you and uh i was going to mention
- 28:23this earlier because he He pops up in the Saudi
- 28:27Arabian recap from last year. It was his first
- 28:31race in a Ferrari in F1. He was in a Ferrari,
- 28:37yes, but not anyone can just do what he did.
- 28:39He raced really well. So you got to give him
- 28:41some pointers. 20th to 10th is an amazing feat.
- 28:44Again, safety car helped him a lot. But still,
- 28:47he made some overtakes. He kept it out of the
- 28:50wall and on the street. No, great, great finish
- 28:53for Behrman, I will say. And I'm very surprised.
- 28:56I like Haas, too. I just think their track record
- 28:59is awful, right, typically. Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 29:02Yeah. This year and last year have been crazy.
- 29:06Yeah. Because it's like we would not have expected
- 29:08that. Like last year, I think I also put Haas
- 29:12at like ninth, just ahead of State. It's very
- 29:15much just their driver lineup. And I'm comparing
- 29:19them specifically against, I think, Williams.
- 29:22Their driver lineup does not impress me as much
- 29:24as Williams does. Which is valid. But they're
- 29:28driving the car better than Williams at the moment.
- 29:29Right. Yeah, I was going to say, that's just
- 29:31it. I mean, Esteban was in points for at least
- 29:3550 % of the race. If not more than that. I think,
- 29:37what, he dropped a position? I thought he dropped.
- 29:40I mean, everybody drops a little bit. I don't
- 29:42remember where he qualified at. Who? Esteban?
- 29:45I can check really quick. I have it up. Esteban
- 29:50started. In 14th. Oh, so he actually made a bunch
- 29:54of positions. He climbed up there, and then he
- 29:57stayed up there for a while. And I thought he
- 29:59dropped one more time and then had to climb back
- 30:01up. But, I mean, Esteban had a great race. Yeah.
- 30:03So both drivers making their way up the pack
- 30:07and keeping their positions all the way to the
- 30:09end. And as I mentioned, I think off -pod earlier,
- 30:12Haas is still having underbody problems. So their
- 30:17car is still not yet refined. And you're still
- 30:21scoring points. And not getting DQ'd. Exactly.
- 30:24So, like, the fact that our drivers are putting
- 30:28up these sorts of results with a semi -broken
- 30:30car makes me very hopeful for the rest of the
- 30:33season. For sure. For sure. Fits, baby. Williams,
- 30:37Albon finishing P12. Carlos, retired. How much,
- 30:42like... I don't know. I don't know. I was going
- 30:46to say, like, I was going to say some wild stuff.
- 30:48Like, how much leash do we actually give Carlos?
- 30:51As much leash as he wants. But, like, the car
- 30:53obviously isn't amazing. I mean, Albon has had
- 30:57some good runs this year already. So it's just,
- 30:59is it just he's just still getting used to it?
- 31:02Yeah. Carlos Sainz, I think, is holding the leash.
- 31:04I don't think anyone's going to kick him out.
- 31:06Well, nobody's going to kick him out. I would
- 31:09have expected him to, like, I mean, he was running
- 31:12pretty decently. up until he crashed and broke
- 31:15his car and had to retire. Yeah. He started eighth,
- 31:20right? So he was right behind Verstappen. So
- 31:23he had decent pace in qualifying. I think he
- 31:26had decent pace in the race, but, yeah, he just
- 31:28made some bad mistakes. Something's off about
- 31:30that Williams car to me, though. You think so?
- 31:32Yeah, 100%. Something's just not right. Don't
- 31:35get me wrong. Williams is going to finish in
- 31:37front of Aston at the moment, going to finish
- 31:38in front of Kicksauber. Racing Bulls, who knows
- 31:41what's going to happen there. But then after
- 31:43that, I'm not sure. Albon's not happy, right?
- 31:47So, like, it's obvious. Where did Albon place
- 31:51again? At the final? No, no, no. McAuley. He
- 31:54started 15th. 15th. So, like, he worked his way
- 31:58up the pack as well. Like, he went, what, 15th
- 32:00to 12th? He was in the top 10 at one point, too.
- 32:03He was. I think that was, like. That might have
- 32:05been the whole. I think that was Pitt's strategies.
- 32:07But, yeah. So, like. Honestly, I felt like he
- 32:11had a pretty decent race. It wasn't anything
- 32:12incredible. And the fact that he was able to
- 32:16work his way up the pack like that in spite of,
- 32:18and I think he was pretty close on Yuki's tail
- 32:20at the end of the race. Albon? Yeah. And so if
- 32:26he didn't get DQ'd. Oh no, he was close on Kimi's
- 32:32tail then. Yeah, it would have been Kimi. Yeah,
- 32:35you're right. He was right on. He was right on
- 32:37his tail. Yeah, he was trying to give him the
- 32:39business. And I think if he got his chance to
- 32:42qualify in Q2, there's a chance he could have
- 32:44made it into Q3, and he could have been point
- 32:47scoring this weekend. But the fact that he got
- 32:50kicked out... It does stem back to that qualifying
- 32:52thing. Yeah, so I think he had a pretty good
- 32:55showing this weekend. I don't think I would worry
- 32:57about Albon from this weekend. I think it's just
- 32:59like a bad break. I'm not necessarily worried
- 33:01about Albon. I'm genuinely concerned about Carlos'
- 33:05performance in the car so far. But again, we're
- 33:07only four races in. Again, I get that. And he's
- 33:10going from a Ferrari to a Williams, so that's
- 33:12going to be massively different. But... I don't
- 33:15know. I'm concerned about Carlos a little bit.
- 33:17And it's not just because he retired. So far,
- 33:20the whole season as a group, to me, just like,
- 33:24not quite what I was expecting. But again, I
- 33:27guess I don't know what I was expecting out of
- 33:30a good driver in the Williams right now. I want
- 33:34to think it's just growing pains in a bad car.
- 33:38I have heard from... Some people that this year
- 33:42has already kind of chalked for Williams, they're
- 33:44really just focusing on next year's car a little
- 33:46bit. Not a bad idea. Honestly, it just hurts
- 33:50to watch. But I think he'll get his points, and
- 33:53I think they'll have some sort of a comeback
- 33:55at some point. I don't think it'll be huge. Yeah,
- 33:58it's a little hard to watch at the moment. You
- 34:01and I look like clowns putting Aston so high,
- 34:03huh? I put him in fifth, yeah. I have him in
- 34:05sixth. So rough. Why am I forgetting their team
- 34:08principal's name right now? Who? James Vowles.
- 34:12James Vowles. James Vowles made a comment regarding...
- 34:15Oh, I have notes. He made a comment on Carlos
- 34:18this weekend saying that he was really proud
- 34:20of Carlos' performance. You know, the DQ is unfortunate.
- 34:24Or the DNF is unfortunate, but, you know, it
- 34:27happens in racing. And he said that he thinks
- 34:29that Carlos is doing everything that he can with
- 34:32the car. And that he actually said that it's
- 34:35on Williams to meet Carlos and to say, we are
- 34:40not. We have not adjusted our car to him enough
- 34:43yet. And so because of that, he is still in an
- 34:46uncomfortable position. We think that he's giving
- 34:49the best that he can, but we haven't met him
- 34:51yet. And not everything is on Carlos, right?
- 34:54Obviously, you know, there was a turn that Kimmy,
- 34:57I swear to God, dive bombed Carlos, honestly.
- 35:00And I was like, what? Kimmy, bro, what are we
- 35:02doing? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. We'll get
- 35:05to the new segment. We'll get to that, I guess.
- 35:09oh yeah i just read another one that's really
- 35:11good well i'm sure it's on your list uh anyway
- 35:13we're moving on um racing bulls real quick too
- 35:17i just saw another note about red bull that i
- 35:19forgot to mention this was the first time this
- 35:20season that they had two cars starting in the
- 35:22top 10 that seems weird that seems weird to me
- 35:27That seems weird to me. I mean, because Red Bulls,
- 35:29like, even if, you know, the second driver isn't,
- 35:31like, meeting standards, typically start of the
- 35:33season, they're still very competitive. They're
- 35:35still up there, yeah. I mean, I think, like,
- 35:37most of our recap so far for the early races,
- 35:43Sergio has been there, like, second or third.
- 35:45Yeah, for sure. Yep. For sure. I just saw that.
- 35:49I wanted to mention that real quick. Yeah, that's
- 35:50a great fun fact. Racing Bulls, Isaac had an
- 35:54all right day. uh man can i vent for a second
- 35:57guys yeah i just can i just say something so
- 35:59isaac p13 liam p16 go for it and and that's that's
- 36:03kind of what i want to talk about right so he's
- 36:05heated yeah i i'm heated because like other people
- 36:10are heated i'm talking i'm specifically calling
- 36:12out you mike right hello whoa you dislike liam
- 36:15because he got into the red bull before yuki
- 36:18right and that's like your main reason for this
- 36:21for like Would you say? Like, I'll give you a
- 36:23moment to, like, you know, if you dislike him
- 36:25more than that, I'll give you a moment to say
- 36:26why. Well, also, you know, there's the obvious
- 36:29that he kicked out my, or he took my favorite
- 36:31driver's seat. The whole Danny Rick thing. There's
- 36:33the Danny Rick thing. It's personal. There's
- 36:35also that. It is personal. There's also that,
- 36:37but also the fact that I just, like, I watch
- 36:39him drive and he feels really sloppy. So Red
- 36:40Bull decisions. Got it. Okay. But he does feel
- 36:43sloppy. He does feel sloppy. Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 36:45yeah. His driving is sloppy. I'm going to moderate
- 36:47this. I was so, so, like. First off, I'll just
- 36:51say that was all Red Bull's decision. Liam has
- 36:53no control over where he's being put. Of course,
- 36:55but I'm going to point to him. Of course, but
- 36:58I don't care. Okay, fine. I liked Liam. I was
- 37:02rooting for him a lot to get a seat. And you
- 37:05remember that. I talked about it all last season.
- 37:06I was like, we need to get Liam in a car. Danny
- 37:09didn't deserve the seat when he got it taken
- 37:11away from him. I love Danny Rick. Did he say
- 37:14so? So. So Liam got into the spot. Liam got to
- 37:20the spot, and then it was like, who's going to
- 37:22take the Red Bull seat? And we're all like, I
- 37:24mean, you can't pick Liam, right? Because Yuki's
- 37:26the most experienced. I know. And then Liam got
- 37:29the Red Bull seat. And I didn't dislike him.
- 37:33I just disliked Red Bull more. And that kind
- 37:35of bled into disliking Liam a little bit. Because
- 37:37it's like, why are you in the Red Bull seat if
- 37:39you can't drive it? Because he couldn't drive
- 37:42it. And then Yuki got swapped over. And I was
- 37:44like, okay, Liam's back into a car that he can
- 37:46probably handle and manage. And I can finally
- 37:49enjoy watching him race. What is he doing? What
- 37:53is Liam Lawson doing? Joe is upset. Sloppy. What
- 37:56is he doing? Why is he getting beat by a rookie
- 37:59Hadjar? Why? Why is that happening? Yes, he's
- 38:01had in total a full season in that car. In total
- 38:06a full season. Which is true. He has. It has
- 38:07been broken up, so he hasn't been able to really
- 38:10hone in on how the car works for a long period
- 38:13of time. But he's driven an F1 car for the length
- 38:16of a season before. So why is he struggling so
- 38:19much? in a v -car which is like not a bad car
- 38:24right and losing to jack doing in an lp why i
- 38:28just wanted to see his reaction liam lawson he
- 38:33got a 10 second penalty he got a five second
- 38:35penalty for causing a collision with stroll and
- 38:37then he got another 10 second penalty for causing
- 38:39who did he cause a collision with for the second
- 38:41time hulk hulkenberg hulkenberg yeah what is
- 38:44happening Which isn't the first time he's hit
- 38:46Hulkenberg either. I understand. We're looking
- 38:51at him in a Red Bull, right? And we're like,
- 38:52the car's really bad and he's also new, right?
- 38:55Yuki's obviously going to do better because Yuki's
- 38:57way more experienced. By tenfold more experienced.
- 39:00Agreed. Put Lawson back in. He should at least
- 39:02be able to... My expectation for Lawson is to
- 39:07be better than Hadjar. And he's not. Yep. Why?
- 39:12Why is that happening? he's running out of time
- 39:15i just want to be clear his f1 clock is running
- 39:18out he is he is not at the top of like nowhere
- 39:20near the top of my favorite driver's list by
- 39:22any means um but he's also not at the bottom
- 39:24like i i don't so i'm not trying to like root
- 39:28for him a ton but like i i think he deserved
- 39:30a chance and he's squandering it you know it's
- 39:32just it's so disappointing to see like he he
- 39:35cannot but it's not like everybody not everybody
- 39:37pans out though right you're totally right i
- 39:40mean but like it's but i get the questioning
- 39:43like why why maybe he was overhyped maybe it
- 39:46just was said so much that was like liam needs
- 39:48a chance we need to give liam a chance he did
- 39:50he did pretty he did pretty okay when he subbed
- 39:53in for danny that one time he deserves the chance
- 39:55let's get him in there and then he's finally
- 39:57get the chance and it's just disappointing so
- 40:00really quick has isaac do you know off the top
- 40:04of your noggins has isaac won I thought he won
- 40:07an F2 championship. I'll double check. He did
- 40:09not. But he was up there. He was up there. He
- 40:11was second to Gabriel Bortoletto last year. Bortoletto
- 40:15won F2 last year. Bortoletto won F2 last year.
- 40:18What about the year before that? That wouldn't
- 40:20matter. If he won the year before that, he couldn't
- 40:22have driven last year. No, last year was the
- 40:25second year of F2. It was, but I'm saying he
- 40:28couldn't have won Formula 2. Oh, that's true.
- 40:30Because if you win it, you can't drive it anymore.
- 40:33Exactly. If you win F2, you can't drive it anymore?
- 40:36Champions aren't allowed to continue driving
- 40:38in F2. That's why you see F2 champions. So then
- 40:40what? So then you never pan out. And if you don't
- 40:42pan out right away in F1, that's it, huh? Reserve
- 40:45driver, baby. I did not know that. If you win
- 40:46a championship in F2, you can't keep going. Why
- 40:48do you think Dale Porcher has been a reserve
- 40:49driver for the last five years? How many reserve
- 40:53drivers can a team have? Just one, right? Or
- 40:55do they have multiples? One per seat, right?
- 40:59That would make sense. So there have been drivers
- 41:01that are reserve drivers for multiple different
- 41:03teams. So I don't know if a team can have many
- 41:07reserve drivers, but I do know that many teams
- 41:10can share the same reserve driver. Like Haas
- 41:13had Behrman and so did Ferrari last year. Right.
- 41:18But anyway, where I was going with that. Sorry,
- 41:20what's up? The Japanese driver for Alpine, the
- 41:24reserve driver. I forget his name. Hideo something.
- 41:27He actually just moved to Haas as their reserve
- 41:30driver. That just popped into my mind. Fun fact.
- 41:34But Liam never won F2. Hadjar won four races
- 41:37and logged four more podium finishes than Bortoletto.
- 41:41He missed out. on the title because he stalled
- 41:44at the last race. His car stalled on the last
- 41:46race. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, I guess it was a huge
- 41:48nail -biter. He's an unofficial champion, I guess.
- 41:53It doesn't matter. I swear he would have won
- 41:56because I didn't know that Bortoletto ended up
- 41:58winning because I was actually keeping track
- 42:00of their standings all year because we didn't
- 42:02know who was going to be in the seat, right?
- 42:04Yep. Ah, dang. Yeah, that's crazy. But Liam has
- 42:08not won an F2 championship, so that's why I checked.
- 42:10He didn't, so that's why I was curious. He came
- 42:16in third. Liam? In 2022, I believe. Okay. I'm
- 42:22going to check the fandom. Check the fandom?
- 42:25Anyway, while he's doing that, Kicksauber, Hulkenberg,
- 42:29DNF, Bordelotto, P18. Kicksauber's not doing
- 42:33hot. Hulk ended up getting DQ'd because of the
- 42:38excessive skid plate wear again. I think that's
- 42:41the second time he's been DQ'd for that same
- 42:42thing. No, last time was Ferrari. That was Haas,
- 42:45wasn't it? No, it was Ferrari. It was Ferrari.
- 42:46Yep. No, there's somebody else, too. There's
- 42:49two drivers I got. It was both the Ferrari. No,
- 42:51it wasn't. No, it wasn't? No, it was one Ferrari
- 42:53and then another car. Oh, was it? Oh, was it
- 42:56Alpi? It was Alpi. It was Pierre. Yeah, it was
- 42:58Pierre. It was Pierre, yeah. Yeah. And because...
- 43:00Both Ferraris got disqualified, but for different
- 43:01reasons. So, never mind. Sorry, Hulk. First time.
- 43:03First time. I thought it was the second time.
- 43:05Confusing you with Pierre. My mistake. Crazy.
- 43:08Crazy confusion. I know. All I put for Aston,
- 43:11honestly, you guys jump in. Alonzo, P15. Lance,
- 43:15P17. I just put straight fecal matter. Why am
- 43:20I so stupid? Where did I put them again? That's
- 43:25so weird. I don't. I. don't know what's going
- 43:29on honestly lance out of everybody lance gave
- 43:34me hope to start the season because he was like
- 43:36it's actually somewhat somewhat okay and then
- 43:40he got to japan and he got to this race and he
- 43:42was like oh okay never mind and now he's lancing
- 43:44some more and it's just we'll put a pin in this
- 43:46and come back to it huh now lance is getting
- 43:48alonzo to lance so it's like what the heck is
- 43:51and i want to like because everyone all of our
- 43:53watchers are thinking this right i want to like
- 43:55i don't think i did not yeah exactly i didn't
- 43:58think acid martin was going to do well because
- 44:00they have like like uh newie i didn't think that
- 44:03at all i just was like i thought it was going
- 44:05to be hard i was like top five is going to be
- 44:07what it was last year aston will somehow pull
- 44:09it out somewhere it's whatever yeah i just thought
- 44:11they might just be focusing for next year i thought
- 44:13they would honestly bounce off of what everything
- 44:16last year like they were they were literally
- 44:18again i always said there was one through four
- 44:20and then there was you know six through everybody
- 44:23else and aston was just five yeah i was like
- 44:25aston will do what aston does they will copy
- 44:27another team and then they will get top five
- 44:29you know that's just how i feel like we're idiots
- 44:31i feel like right now newbie is just whispering
- 44:33in into lawrence's ear like hey so we're just
- 44:37gonna throw this season away just don't worry
- 44:39about it next season if we if we come in dead
- 44:41last we don't care that means we get more wind
- 44:43tunnel for next year That means more winter.
- 44:45That means I get to develop the car more. Yeah,
- 44:50okay. That's fair. So straight from Mike's mouth,
- 44:55Aston is sandbagging to get more tunnel time
- 44:58so they can come out strong in 2016. Oh, no,
- 45:00I'm beached. Dang it. Let's see. We have Bahrain
- 45:08tech issues up here. Obviously, George Russell
- 45:11DRS. George Russell's DRS. Hold on. Where are
- 45:15the notes that I made? George Russell's DRS and
- 45:18just general car issues. They said... You mentioned
- 45:23it. He was told that, hey, if your screen goes
- 45:26off, just keep driving as normally. Still works.
- 45:28Just keep going. Okay. Red Bull had pit issues
- 45:31that made both of their drivers have longer pit
- 45:35times. Their release. all the light wasn't working
- 45:38it was not working so they stayed for an extra
- 45:40second and a half longer inside their pits maybe
- 45:42even two seconds it was a long pit um and then
- 45:45we saw on the broadcast timing tower issues specifically
- 45:48russell was having a lot of issues so i took
- 45:51it that russell maybe was like russell's car
- 45:54was just messing with everything and um it kept
- 45:57on sending him to the back and so timing looked
- 45:59really bad and so they had to keep going uh one
- 46:01of the one uh site that i was was reading i think
- 46:04it was motorsport .com was saying that there
- 46:06was a transponder issue that was just messing
- 46:08with everything on the track either way okay
- 46:10it's just weird that it all happened it all happened
- 46:13at the same time it was like a drs and then the
- 46:16timing tower and then also red bull it was like
- 46:18that's something else coming up do you have something
- 46:20dad he's still wearing the hat oh my god uh well
- 46:23i had a great take so um for this exact thing
- 46:26um i found out uh f1 just got a new um got a
- 46:31new lifetime supplier Which is, like, a new company.
- 46:35As of, like, today? As of this year. This year.
- 46:37Oh, okay. And this new Lifetime supplier is,
- 46:41like, the people who are doing, like, the animations
- 46:43on their, like, productions and everything. Their
- 46:46production, yeah, exactly. And is also keeping
- 46:47track of the times and whatnot. The things that
- 46:49the drivers, the problems that the drivers were
- 46:51having, that might have been something different.
- 46:52But, like, where we saw, like, it said replay
- 46:54when we were actually watching live Raze, that's...
- 46:57Because of these guys. They're new producers
- 46:59and stuff like that. Interesting. That's what
- 47:02the content creator I was watching, that's what
- 47:05he called it. I don't know if that's the proper
- 47:06term for it. Yeah, because I would imagine, obviously,
- 47:08the times are transmitted by these transponders.
- 47:12And then they're made to look pretty for the
- 47:15broadcast for us. And that's what the production
- 47:16team does. For sure. I mean, it makes sense that
- 47:19they were new because it's not the first time
- 47:21we've seen issues. The first race was also pretty
- 47:23bad with the tower and just with what they were
- 47:26showing us. So it makes sense that it was new
- 47:27and that they're going through growing pains.
- 47:30And you're going to get people angry like, I
- 47:32can't believe it. Where's my timing towers? It's
- 47:34like, I'm giving grace this time because there's
- 47:36obviously something wrong at the track. I mean,
- 47:39there are too many weird things happening where
- 47:41it's like, ah, there's got to be something electrical
- 47:43happening. Sabotage. Yeah. It's probably any
- 47:45car drivers. Maybe. Sabotaging because they can't
- 47:48handle it. Very possibly. Let's see. Driver of
- 47:51the Day tidbit. Yeah. So I think there's also
- 47:54something wrong with the Driver of the Day voting.
- 47:56Who ended up getting Driver of the Day? Lewis
- 47:58Hamilton. No. Yeah, can you believe that? That's
- 48:01not even, no. And I have the breakout. I mean,
- 48:04it's been his best race of the year. I love that
- 48:05they give us the breakout of who got the most
- 48:08percentages, the top five. It was Lewis with
- 48:1029 .6, and then it was Oscar, 14 .1, which makes
- 48:14sense. Race winner. And then it was Charles with
- 48:177 .8. No. And then it was Lando with 6 .7. And
- 48:23then it was Pierre with 6 .5. Okay. Behrman,
- 48:25not in the top five. Scuderia is just bombing
- 48:28the charts. Don't get me wrong. I think Pierre
- 48:31should at least get a vote. But then we saw Kimi
- 48:32Antonelli that one race, and he was not doing
- 48:34anything. Yeah, I don't know what's going on.
- 48:36Yeah, it's very odd. Oliver should win. Very,
- 48:38very odd. um so i'm i'm almost like i haven't
- 48:42looked into this but i'm almost like convinced
- 48:43there's like a subreddit somewhere that's like
- 48:45all right this is what we're gonna do for the
- 48:47driver of the day this time around it's like
- 48:48they're just trolling it's like the game stop
- 48:50stocks all over again we know something crazy
- 48:53is happening when we see lance joe up there we're
- 48:55like okay there's a subreddit somewhere like
- 48:57all right uh all right let's let's fly through
- 49:01this the new seg the the comms the comms um Oh,
- 49:05we don't have any... We don't have a transition
- 49:07yet. Okay. Yeah. So you had already mentioned
- 49:11this, but Anthony made a pass on, I think it
- 49:13was signs. Yeah. Signs. And it was, it was essentially
- 49:16just a full on dive bomb. If signs was not a
- 49:19like experienced driver and did not see it coming,
- 49:22it would have been a big crash. Yep. Brundle
- 49:24Brundle called what he did a bit of a hospital
- 49:27pass, which I thought was hilarious. Super, super
- 49:31funny. We had that. Yeah. A will Buxton moment
- 49:34that I mentioned earlier in qualifying. um russell
- 49:38after he had pit for softs um at the safety car
- 49:41said 23 laps on softs this is pretty audacious
- 49:44um but he made it stick so that was great um
- 49:48hamilton this tire sucks talking about the hards
- 49:52i believe yep um which was a common trend theme
- 49:55yep and then i have the the the engineer um to
- 49:58george george there's a chance we lose the dash
- 50:00just keep driving normal as that happens and
- 50:02then russell as long as the wheel doesn't fall
- 50:03off and those are my those are my uh my topped
- 50:07picked yeah um top picked uh comments or radio
- 50:12messages um russell also having gear issues on
- 50:15lap 52 five five laps before the end he says
- 50:18gears are uh explicitive what is going on yes
- 50:22um yes yeah those are my radio messages so a
- 50:25good good amount uh came out of this race nothing
- 50:27like hilarious or crazy but you know a couple
- 50:30nice ones i only had a couple interesting ones
- 50:32like information wise and then whatever let's
- 50:35see um this was just a personal one for me lap
- 50:3830 vowels for Williams came on and said, uh,
- 50:41we don't quite have the pace of the Alpine, like
- 50:44set it on the broadcast. I was like, no, you
- 50:46don't, sir. Uh, so that made me feel good. Uh,
- 50:49let's see. Uh, let's see. Let's see. Let's see.
- 50:52Uh, Lando, a couple of, they were talking to
- 50:54Lando. Uh, George is worried about the soft tire
- 50:57and Lando said, I don't think he should be. It's
- 50:58a good tire. I thought that was interesting considering
- 51:00teams know what other teams are saying that they're
- 51:03getting broadcasted, you know? So I was like,
- 51:05So they just kind of helped them out a little
- 51:07bit. Yeah, it's interesting that you're commenting
- 51:09on someone else's tire like that. Yeah, I thought
- 51:11that was just different. I haven't seen that
- 51:12yet. Maybe it was like a passive -aggressive
- 51:16remark. Maybe. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 51:19Oh, yeah, maybe. And then there's another one
- 51:22to Lando. They were like, remember to use drink.
- 51:24He said, I would if it was working. Oh, that
- 51:26was Piastri, I think. Oh, was it Piastri? Oh,
- 51:28I thought it was Lando. Remember to use drink.
- 51:30What if I was working? And he said, well, you
- 51:32have this many laps left. Yeah, good answer.
- 51:35And then there's one more. Charles early in the
- 51:37race. These brakes are so inconsistent. It's
- 51:41so annoying. And, like, the way he said so, I
- 51:45was like, oh, God, Charles, stop whining. This
- 51:49is so annoying. But anyway, those were the only
- 51:52comms I got other than Max saying everything
- 51:54is overheating on lap 21. I was like, oh, boy.
- 51:56But, yeah. Yeah. Did you catch any other comms?
- 51:59Nope. All right. He said nope. You can take off
- 52:02the hat now. It's okay. Unless he's got some
- 52:04in news, which will you go to right now? We're
- 52:06going to keep this close by. News, Kev. Boo!
- 52:21Let's see. Well, to start off our news, I don't
- 52:25have anything, but Mike's got a couple things
- 52:27quick, and then we'll get into Joe's. I got one
- 52:29thing, too. Yeah, okay, cool. So the first thing
- 52:31that I wanted to bring up, I don't have too much
- 52:33to go over on it, but it was just kind of interesting.
- 52:34It's got a lot of people looking at what's going
- 52:37on. The FIA's vice president just abruptly stepped
- 52:41down over the weekend, basically just said, I'm
- 52:45done. And he, I guess the FIA's... that they
- 52:50got from him was literally, or the first notice
- 52:52they got was a post on Instagram. He posted on
- 52:55Instagram before even letting the FIA know. He
- 52:58put a post out and then proceeded to let them
- 53:00know I'm stepping down. And so the FIA was like,
- 53:03oh, so this is crazy. And now a bunch of people
- 53:07are like, because there's been other people who
- 53:09have been walking out from the FIA and like pretty
- 53:12high value people. Is there something internal
- 53:14going on? Well, it probably always is. I'm going
- 53:18to look for, I want to see what he said, because
- 53:20that's interesting. Yeah. I can no longer, in
- 53:23good faith, remain involved in an organization
- 53:25that no longer respects the values I defend,
- 53:28is part of what he wrote. Yeah. What values?
- 53:34The summary is that the FIA is going through
- 53:36another eternal crisis. He announces immediate
- 53:38resignation, citing a loss of confidence in the
- 53:41way the institution is currently run. Whoa. Yep.
- 53:44So got to love that. So that's got a lot of people
- 53:49looking at the FIA right now. So expect to hear
- 53:52more news about V10 soon. They will not be happening.
- 53:57Oh, yeah, but it's just MSB's way of diverting
- 54:00attention. The other thing, I think you probably
- 54:03have something similar, but this isn't like official
- 54:06news, but it's like a lot of rumblings that are
- 54:07going around. Like, there's been a lot of talk
- 54:11about Max having a performance clause in his
- 54:14contract with Red Bull. And a lot of people are
- 54:18talking about the potential of Max leaving Red
- 54:20Bull to potentially go to a different team and
- 54:23whatnot. And actually, Christian Horner can amend
- 54:26the clause. Probably Christian Horner was asked
- 54:28about a performance clause after the race of
- 54:32people basically being like, does Max have any
- 54:35sort of a performance clause? And are you worried
- 54:36about it? And Christian Horner goes. Every driver
- 54:39on the grid has some sort of performance clause
- 54:41and really wouldn't say anything more about it.
- 54:44But there's a lot of people who are making some
- 54:46speculations either. You know, he could be just
- 54:49he could if Red Bull just isn't working out.
- 54:52He could just take he could leave at pretty much
- 54:55any time if the Red Bull isn't working. You know,
- 54:57he's expecting to be a father, so he could just
- 54:59take some time off and. go raise his child and
- 55:02do some racing like he wants to do. Like he wants
- 55:04to do. Yeah, I know. And he already says he doesn't
- 55:06want to race. Like when they were talking about
- 55:08Lewis Hamilton's age last year and they asked
- 55:10him, he's like, no, I don't want to race that
- 55:12long. Yeah. I have no interest in doing that.
- 55:14So maybe he is just. Or there's the potential,
- 55:17the big buzz as people are thinking that we could
- 55:20see him moving over to Aston. To Haas, yeah,
- 55:22I know. No, to Aston. Oh, gosh. Haas doesn't
- 55:24deserve him. I'm sorry. They also can't afford
- 55:27him. He's outside their payroll. To Aston, though,
- 55:29is interesting. If you had Max, Fernando, and
- 55:34Newey all in the same building, that's crazy
- 55:36talk. And Stroll's money and the partner's money.
- 55:42That's crazy. That's a pretty crazy lineup. So
- 55:46no official news. I'm just kind of curious. Keep
- 55:48the hat on the ground. I don't think that one
- 55:49deserves the hat. I'm kind of curious what you
- 55:51guys think about it, though. Oh, I'd love to
- 55:53know what I think about it. Yeah. I don't have
- 55:56enough fingers on my hand to tell you how many
- 55:58times I've seen that stupid headline pop up.
- 56:00Every single time Red Bull is a little bit bad
- 56:03in a race, Max could leave Red Bull. We've seen
- 56:07it so many times. I feel like we brought it up
- 56:09a lot last year even in this room. You're just
- 56:14done with the crying wolf. I'm sure if Max wants
- 56:16to go somewhere, he'll go somewhere. He's not
- 56:18going to go somewhere, though. I think the biggest
- 56:21reason why people are super interested in it
- 56:24now is because back then people were talking,
- 56:26what if we get to the point of the performance
- 56:28clause? And now we're reaching the point of we're
- 56:31starting to get close to a performance clause.
- 56:33There's a lot of talk for Stappen. Max, I think
- 56:37Max stays in the car. I actually agree. If you
- 56:41asked me two years ago, I would have never said
- 56:44Lewis is going to Ferrari. So I'll keep that
- 56:47in mind. But I do see Max stopping for a year
- 56:50to raise his kid. How's that possible? And then
- 56:52coming back, though. You think he would come
- 56:54back, though, if he were to take a break? I don't
- 56:56know. I think Max has proved that he is, even
- 57:00if people don't want to say it, he's one of the
- 57:02greatest of all time. Yep, for sure. Straight
- 57:04up. For sure. I'd love to see him in some other
- 57:06racing disciplines. I just want to see him dominate.
- 57:09That'd be sick. Put him in a sports car, put
- 57:12him to Indy, see what he can do. Let him do what
- 57:15he wants to do, really. At the end of the day,
- 57:18he should be doing what he wants to do. If he
- 57:19wants to keep racing F1, he's always got a seat.
- 57:21Someone will take him. I'm not saying he will.
- 57:28I actually don't think he's going to take a year
- 57:30off. I don't think he's going anywhere. I think
- 57:31he's going to be with Red Bull for a while. At
- 57:34least until his contract is over. I don't think
- 57:35he's going to outright leave. But I think when
- 57:38his contract is nearing it, he could retire.
- 57:41I think that's possible. Sure. Why not? For sure.
- 57:43For sure. He's got a long contract, like into
- 57:452030, right? Yeah. Something like that. He's
- 57:48got a long contract. 2028, maybe. With that,
- 57:52Kev, let's head right into our Saudi Arabia preview.
- 58:07And I am here to bring you up to speed for the
- 58:11Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Jeddah Circuit
- 58:14coming up this weekend. Jeddah. I'm very excited
- 58:17about Jeddah. I love Jeddah. I like racing it
- 58:20on the game. Also, a very, you know, this is
- 58:24kind of nice at the start of the season, but
- 58:25we had some really early ones for us people in
- 58:27the U .S. Jeddah and Bahrain, fairly reasonable
- 58:30times to watch. I think Jeddah's a little earlier
- 58:32than Bahrain. We don't have to stay up until
- 58:352 a .m. 2 a .m. for China or whatever? Jeez.
- 58:39jetta very fast track uh this year the formula
- 58:42one stc saudi arabian grand prix 2025 uh as always
- 58:47fun fact this is the fastest street circuit and
- 58:50the one track um with the most corners um which
- 58:54is interesting because it looks like a very straight
- 58:56line for most of it but there's all those little
- 58:58small ones that give it all its corners Looking
- 59:02at last year's race, it's lights out, and both
- 59:05Red Bulls get an amazing start off the line.
- 59:06Sergio immediately fighting. Sorry. That came
- 59:09out of nowhere. Usually there's two. Did you
- 59:11sneeze because I said Sergio? Yeah. I said it
- 59:15again. Quit saying his name. You're right. He
- 59:20who shall not be named immediately fighting Charles
- 59:22for second place. They go too wide at the first
- 59:25set of corners, but Charles is able to maintain
- 59:27second as they get to turn four. Despite some
- 59:29side -by -side racing through the first lap,
- 59:31the top six keep their places, the McLarens following
- 59:34the two front rows. They don't keep these positions
- 59:37for long, however, as Oscar takes fourth from
- 59:39Fernando by the end of the starting straight
- 59:41on lap two, and Perez makes a similar move on
- 59:44Charles, taking the second podium position away
- 59:46from the Monegasque driver. The camera following...
- 59:49I've got to actually set this up. Picture this.
- 59:52The camera, following Ollie Bearman, his first
- 59:55race in F1, subbing in for a sick Carlos Sainz.
- 59:58But he is not the action point of the shot, no.
- 1:00:01Two places ahead, we watch none other than Lance
- 1:00:03Stroll tap the inside of 23, immediately breaking
- 1:00:06his steering, going straight into the barriers,
- 1:00:08firmly planting himself as a fixture into the
- 1:00:11wall. Boom! His engineer asks him if he can bring
- 1:00:13it back home, to which he replies, no, I hit
- 1:00:16the wall. That's right! This brings out a safety
- 1:00:21car and triggers a wave of pits from the grid.
- 1:00:25I'm so sorry. From the grid. Amid the chaos of
- 1:00:30almost everyone pitting during the safety car,
- 1:00:32Perez releases right in front of Fernando, who
- 1:00:34visibly has to brake to not hit the Red Bull,
- 1:00:36ultimately gifting Sergio a five -second penalty.
- 1:00:39I said Sergio. Yeah, Sergio a five -second penalty.
- 1:00:42The McLarens, who opted not to pit both cars
- 1:00:45to avoid the double stack, instead only pit Oscar,
- 1:00:48leaving Lando to lead the pack on the safety
- 1:00:49car restart. Oscar in sixth begins battling with
- 1:00:53Charles in sixth. Oscar in seventh begins battling
- 1:00:55with Charles in sixth, but ultimately keeps his
- 1:00:57place after the first few corners. We watch Mike's
- 1:01:01boy K -Mag turn into the Williams of Albon, their
- 1:01:03wheels locking together for a moment and taking
- 1:01:05some bits off of Albon's front wing. K -Mag gets
- 1:01:08a 10 -second penalty for causing a collision.
- 1:01:10All the while, Bearman takes 11th away from Sonota,
- 1:01:13now fighting for 10th place, held by Joe in the
- 1:01:16kick. On lap 13, Max Verstappen takes the lead
- 1:01:19from Norris at the end of the starting straight,
- 1:01:20and Perez replicates the move on Hamilton to
- 1:01:23fill the final podium position. Lap 15, Charles
- 1:01:26also makes the move on Lewis for fourth at the
- 1:01:27end of that straight. Six laps later, Behrman
- 1:01:30takes his place in ninth after overtaking the
- 1:01:32Haas of Hulkenberg. This is not the end of Haas's
- 1:01:36woes, as K -Mag takes another 10 -second penalty,
- 1:01:38this time for leaving the track on an overtake
- 1:01:41and gaining an advantage on Sonoda. As a bit
- 1:01:43of defiance, and to protect Hulkenberg in 10th,
- 1:01:46K -Mag defends his position harshly from Sonoda,
- 1:01:49who attempts to take it on lap 29, but is boxed
- 1:01:53out by the Haas driver, sending Sonoda back and
- 1:01:55under pressure for Ocon, who takes Sonoda's place
- 1:01:58in the kerfuffle. further up the grid we watch
- 1:02:00oscar every week i try that's yeah i was gonna
- 1:02:03say you tend to work it in there that's yeah
- 1:02:06this is the second one i think i worked it in
- 1:02:07there yeah yeah you gotta use gaggle too uh oh
- 1:02:10gaggle's good yeah uh further up the grid we
- 1:02:12watch oscar piastri take fifth place from lewis
- 1:02:14hamilton on lap 35 four seconds behind his teammate
- 1:02:16lando unfortunately the next corner oscar does
- 1:02:19lock up and has to go wide forfeiting the place
- 1:02:21back to lewis lap 48 we see danny rick take too
- 1:02:24much curb and go spinning round and round cementing
- 1:02:27his 16th place in the grand Grand Prix. Two laps
- 1:02:30later, yep, the checkered flag is waved for Max
- 1:02:32about nine seconds ahead of his teammate with
- 1:02:35another ten seconds to third. Our finals, Verstappen
- 1:02:37to Perez, Leclerc to Piastri, Alonso to Russell,
- 1:02:41Behrman to Norris, and Hamilton to Hulkenberg.
- 1:02:44So Sergio was still finishing second. He was,
- 1:02:48yeah. The early Red Bull is no longer, right?
- 1:02:52Yeah, right, right, right. No longer. what so
- 1:02:59he started adjusting his hat well yeah there's
- 1:03:02a lot of k -meg there's a lot of k -meg there's
- 1:03:05a lot of bear men yeah i started pointing at
- 1:03:06the number 20 on my hat i was like that's my
- 1:03:08dog yeah but yeah i mean to like but i do remember
- 1:03:11him blocking he was defending hulkenberg yeah
- 1:03:14he was like hard defending his teammates so like
- 1:03:16he was yuki probably would have got hulk too
- 1:03:18yeah probably yeah he was like forcing sonota
- 1:03:22back and like he yeah completely ruined his race
- 1:03:24but like he did his job as a teammate so Let's
- 1:03:29see. So Joe last week got the most points from
- 1:03:33Bahrain. Okay. Let's go. He went Oscar Lando
- 1:03:36Max. The podium went Oscar George Lando. So Joe
- 1:03:39ends up with three points getting the correct
- 1:03:42race winner. Good job, Joe. Oh, thanks, guys.
- 1:03:47Yeah, no problem. No problem. Why are you clapping?
- 1:03:50Actually, we should put a laugh track in there
- 1:03:52right there, like from the 90s. Yeah, whatever.
- 1:03:55We're just going to cut that laugh and put that...
- 1:03:57No, that was horrible. I didn't even try. All
- 1:03:59right. And then Mike and me both tying with two
- 1:04:03points. Mike's podium being Lando, Oscar, Max.
- 1:04:06Getting... All right, all right. Sorry, I didn't
- 1:04:08even see you. He was there for a moment. Yeah.
- 1:04:09I was like, is he trying to punch me? Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:13Yeah, anyway. So we, us, whatever, getting points
- 1:04:18because Oscar and Lando were in there. And then
- 1:04:21me because of Oscar and George. I hate to say
- 1:04:24it. There was a moment where I was like, I kind
- 1:04:26of hope George gets a penalty at the end. That
- 1:04:29would have been rude. Then I thought about it,
- 1:04:31and I was like, he really deserves that podium.
- 1:04:33He sure does. Yes, sir. Oh, it's me first. I'll
- 1:04:37take the three points. Yeah, right. So our standings
- 1:04:41right now, Smelty at 12, who's leading still,
- 1:04:46which is crazy, who didn't lead on any of the
- 1:04:50shows last year. So keeping that one. close to
- 1:04:54the heart uh joe in second with 10 mike sitting
- 1:04:57in third at nine one behind joe if you're not
- 1:05:00on youtube uh joe is giving mike the loser sign
- 1:05:04on the on the forehead you know the shape of
- 1:05:06an l on the forehead um doing my best to be like
- 1:05:10my team nice yeah right uh anyway ah dang that's
- 1:05:14focused anyway um i guess i gotta go first because
- 1:05:17i'm leaning again sorry fellas um i'm gonna go
- 1:05:21from three to one Spicy. I don't know why I'm
- 1:05:25excited. Charles is three. Interesting. Yep.
- 1:05:34Oscar is two. Yep. Interesting. This is going
- 1:05:38to mess you guys up. Pierre Gasly. No. George
- 1:05:43Russell is winning this week in Injetta. Okay.
- 1:05:47It's going to be a crazy race. Did you hit your
- 1:05:49head? Remember when I did the L? You are not
- 1:05:53putting Oscar Piastri on the podium. Oscar's
- 1:05:55second. Oh, so you're not putting Lando Norris
- 1:05:57on the podium. Lando's fourth. Yep, correct.
- 1:05:58Wow. Yep, correct. Got to take chances, you know
- 1:06:01what I mean? You're right. It is me now because
- 1:06:03you're last. Because I'm dead last, so I get
- 1:06:04to wait for you. You're right. George is a crazy
- 1:06:08first. I know. But he's not crazy for the podium.
- 1:06:11It's not going to happen. This is an incredibly
- 1:06:13fast track. Yes. fairly technical as well. Both
- 1:06:20of the McLarens are in my podium because they're
- 1:06:21the fastest car at the moment. I almost put Lando
- 1:06:25winning, which would have put George in third
- 1:06:28and bumped Charles in fourth. But he's not even
- 1:06:30in your podium. Nope, he's in fourth. Do you
- 1:06:32think something's going to happen to Lando? It's
- 1:06:35possible. He's just going to get lost in the
- 1:06:37shuffle. It's going to be a bad start, and he's
- 1:06:39not going to recover this race. Last week's going
- 1:06:44to be stuck in his head. Piastri did do well.
- 1:06:48Oscar is potentially the fastest car on the grid
- 1:06:50right now. Oscar is first. Locked. Yep. Lando
- 1:06:56is second. Okay. That makes sense. That tracks.
- 1:07:00Lewis Hamilton. No. That's crazy. Not Lando in
- 1:07:03second. Lando is third. Lando is third. Uh -oh.
- 1:07:05Wait a minute. We're shaking it up. Wait a minute.
- 1:07:08So I'm between, just so I can think out loud,
- 1:07:10I am between Max and George, I think. This is
- 1:07:14fair. That's why Charles will do it. I'm going
- 1:07:15the statistic route. They're the two that have
- 1:07:17gotten on the phone. You said you were going
- 1:07:18to do it. You said you were going to do it. I
- 1:07:20think I'll go George. Whoa. I'll go George. Hey,
- 1:07:22he's scoring points. He's scoring points in our
- 1:07:25standings this year. I don't know if, like, McLarens
- 1:07:26are, like, really good on the straight line or,
- 1:07:29like, the fast corners. I'm pretty sure McLarens
- 1:07:33are, though. Yeah, I'm happy with that. I'll
- 1:07:37stick. I'll lock that. All right, Oscar George
- 1:07:38Lando, in that order. You are. No, you did it.
- 1:07:41Okay, sorry. I'm super prepared. Trust me, I
- 1:07:43thought I did it on the wrong one too. So, or
- 1:07:48historically, Oscar has been super fast on this
- 1:07:51track. Super freaking fast on this track and
- 1:07:53super good. And especially when that McLaren
- 1:07:55has been a boat over the last couple years. At
- 1:07:59the beginning of last year, the McLaren was very
- 1:08:01slow, and yet Oscar was super close to the podium.
- 1:08:04So I'm putting Oscar to win this race, and it'll
- 1:08:07be by a margin, like a pretty large margin. If
- 1:08:09he starts in first, yeah, he's going away. I
- 1:08:11think he's starting in first. Yep. In second
- 1:08:14place, I am putting George Jorge. You guys are
- 1:08:19starting to believe in George. He's not going
- 1:08:21to get the point. I think George is fast. I think
- 1:08:23George is good on some of these technical tracks.
- 1:08:25Don't do it. Don't do what? Who's your third?
- 1:08:29Charles. Who's my third? And in third place,
- 1:08:31another driver who we've seen notoriously good
- 1:08:34on this track, so not Lando Norris, is going
- 1:08:37to be Charles Leclerc. Interesting. I like that.
- 1:08:39I stated earlier that Charles Leclerc has been
- 1:08:42inching closer to that podium, and Charles Leclerc
- 1:08:44is notoriously very good on street tracks. and
- 1:08:48has been notoriously good on Jetta specifically,
- 1:08:50and I think that this is probably going to be
- 1:08:52the first weekend we see Ferrari on the podium.
- 1:08:54So you two have the same podium, and I'm the
- 1:08:57only one that picked Lando. I'm kind of upset
- 1:08:59that he said this podium, because I had this
- 1:09:01podium planned like three days ago. Sure. But
- 1:09:04I'm crazy for George winning. I honestly don't
- 1:09:07hate Charles. I actually, like, thinking back,
- 1:09:10you know, when I made my predictions 30 seconds
- 1:09:12ago, Charles might be a better pick over George,
- 1:09:14but the Ferrari hasn't been there. And the Mercedes
- 1:09:16is very surprising. Which is fair. The Ferrari
- 1:09:18has yet to really show up. I'm hoping Lando just,
- 1:09:22like, eats. My big take, and that is why Lando
- 1:09:26isn't on the podium this weekend, is we've seen
- 1:09:31that the McLaren is not great in dirty air, especially
- 1:09:34in corners. You put that McLaren into corners,
- 1:09:38into dirty air, and that McLaren struggles. And
- 1:09:42at least one of the McLarens have to be in dirty
- 1:09:44air. Exactly. That was my logic. And Oscar being
- 1:09:47as fast as he is on this track, I think Oscar
- 1:09:49is going to excel and put himself on pole position.
- 1:09:52And then Lando is going to struggle because he's
- 1:09:54going to be in dirty air the entire time. Meanwhile,
- 1:09:56you see drivers like George, who is a good car.
- 1:10:01That's possible. We might have a new pulse. But
- 1:10:03we see George, who's been very fast and very
- 1:10:06good and very consistent, and Charles Leclerc,
- 1:10:08who is notoriously good on this track. The double
- 1:10:13knee slap. Yeah, that was crazy. I just want
- 1:10:16to say that was crazy you just did that. But
- 1:10:18I do not hate your guys' podiums. I would like
- 1:10:21to see some more variety up front, as long as
- 1:10:23one of my boys are up there. Go for it. We're
- 1:10:26so far in constructors right now, I'm not worried.
- 1:10:28I do also want to point out that if... Something
- 1:10:33else that I jotted this down, and we didn't mention
- 1:10:35when we talked about McLaren earlier, Oscar was
- 1:10:38three laps away from having a Grand Slam this
- 1:10:41last race. Oh, leading the entire thing? Pole
- 1:10:44position, fastest lap, leading the lap for every
- 1:10:48single... Or leading the race for every single
- 1:10:51lap. Max has definitely done that. He's not the
- 1:10:53first. Max has done it five times. Only five?
- 1:10:56Who else has done it? Do you know? Oh, there's
- 1:10:59been plenty of other drivers. Lewis Hamilton
- 1:11:01has done it before. Obviously, people like Michael
- 1:11:04Schumacher and Senna have all done it. But Max
- 1:11:06only five times when he had such a dominating
- 1:11:09season. It's kind of wild to think about. And
- 1:11:11that's another thing that's got me so like, holy
- 1:11:14cow, Oscar is crazy. It's his third year and
- 1:11:17he almost had a Grand Slam. Three laps. He missed
- 1:11:19it by three laps. And there's only a handful
- 1:11:22of drivers who have Grand Slams. Exactly. Yep.
- 1:11:28Yeah. Oh, yeah, pitting it in. Yep. So he almost
- 1:11:32had a grand slam this weekend, and Lando's never
- 1:11:35had a grand slam. No. No. I mean, no, because
- 1:11:38the car's only good. Hasn't even really been
- 1:11:39in that conversation. Yeah, the car's only really
- 1:11:41good this year. Lando's never even been close.
- 1:11:43You need to pull. In the second half. Well, you
- 1:11:44need to pull, like, time. Yep. You need to either
- 1:11:47be the last to pit, or you need to pull, like,
- 1:11:50hard time in front. You got to be, like, 25 seconds
- 1:11:53in front. Yeah. And that might not even. Well,
- 1:11:55I mean, like. Yes. You're actually right. You
- 1:11:58need to be 25 seconds in front or you need to
- 1:12:01pit last. And then you are 25 seconds in front.
- 1:12:05That's a good point. That's interesting. Good
- 1:12:08fun. He almost got it. It's going to be sad when
- 1:12:12Max wins. He will too. Then we lose our 10 followers.
- 1:12:19He very well could be on the podium. This is
- 1:12:22a super technical track and Max is probably the
- 1:12:24best driver on the grid right now. I get some
- 1:12:26pretty decent points if Lando's there, though.
- 1:12:28And I think Lando will be there. Okay, interesting.
- 1:12:32Stop. Stop, you scallywag. Anyway, Mike, thanks
- 1:12:37for being here, brother. I was happy to be here.
- 1:12:38I yapped. I put on the hat. Good, good. You didn't
- 1:12:42get stuck loading a late truck? Nope. Or unloading?
- 1:12:44Which one? Either one. Unloading, typically.
- 1:12:46Unloading. Oh, wow. Thank God. So we're always
- 1:12:49happy to have you. And Haas was at double points
- 1:12:52this week, so that's B -A. You're very quickly
- 1:12:54proving us wrong. Looking forward to Haas scoring
- 1:12:56again next weekend. I just want you to know the
- 1:12:58moment that they start to falter, we're coming
- 1:13:00at you. Oh, yeah, no, absolutely. Are you kidding
- 1:13:02me with how outlandish I've been? Fifth? Where'd
- 1:13:06your fifth go, huh? Williams could take it back.
- 1:13:11The two of them are like... Williams is – we're
- 1:13:14already so full. I could talk about this for
- 1:13:16another 10 minutes. I could talk about this for
- 1:13:18another two hours. Williams is not going to come.
- 1:13:20I don't think Williams is going to get fifth
- 1:13:21this year. I think they're just going to keep
- 1:13:24kind of floating around seventh -ish. Which is
- 1:13:28sad because I want them to get fifth. And Aston
- 1:13:30is – I'm so shocked in terms of Aston. I'm so
- 1:13:33shocked. Shocked. It's all over. All right. Smelty,
- 1:13:38thank you for being here. Whoa, hey. I didn't
- 1:13:41say you first. Thank you for being here, John.
- 1:13:43We never bring it up. Kevin, thank you for being
- 1:13:44here. Thanks for being here. Thank you, Kev.
- 1:13:48I'm not saying we shouldn't. We appreciate you.
- 1:13:50I just want to be clear. I'm not saying we shouldn't,
- 1:13:52but, like, we have said it before. Thank you.
- 1:13:55Thank God. Joe's like, I gotta go. My mom's here.
- 1:13:58I don't have to be here anymore. Oh, my God.
- 1:13:59You're being so mean to me. With that, obviously,
- 1:14:01don't forget to like, comment, subscribe wherever
- 1:14:03you listen to the banter, whether that's YouTube,
- 1:14:05Spotify, Apple Podcast, or, of course, now on
- 1:14:08iHeartRadio as well. Heck yeah. And, yeah, next
- 1:14:11week. Yeah, we do. Yeah, we will see you. Next
- 1:14:14week. I'm fairly confident about that. Fairly
- 1:14:16confident. I'm about 50 % confident about that.
- 1:14:18That we'll be here next week. More than zero.
- 1:14:20That's like, because we will or we won't. And
- 1:14:21that's easy. That's amazing. There we go, Kev.
- 1:14:23There we go. Adios. Peace. Don't forget to follow,
- 1:14:28like, and subscribe. Tune in next time for more
