- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41So just like UMM Logan, who likes to critique our podcast my
- 0:46my Cousin Tara, what are you doing?
- 0:51It's my it's my new microphone. For the people that can't are
- 0:54not watching on video, Rick is. Rick is being weird.
- 0:58I know what was that. It's the charge, it's the
- 1:00charger. So not to get you off course,
- 1:02but last week, remember, the dog went underneath.
- 1:05The went underneath. Oh yeah, your ring light ripped
- 1:09this out and it went flying. And so now I can't get it to
- 1:11work. I mean, it's a $15.
- 1:15Ring light. Yeah, I know.
- 1:16Exactly. Looks like the O from Hollywood
- 1:19Squares. Yeah, yeah, actually it does.
- 1:22What am I? Yeah.
- 1:23So, I mean, you can put that on your your Christmas list.
- 1:25Now you need a new ring. So right, So right now we've got
- 1:27the guest room lane. We're so high tech.
- 1:31Big. Big budget on this podcast, you
- 1:34know, I sit around I I see all the big stars, I see the boy Boy
- 1:38Meets World podcast people I see you name it, they've all got
- 1:42podcasts and I have to make the assumption they got a bigger
- 1:45budget than this because this is I would.
- 1:47Yeah, maybe just a little, just a little bit bigger.
- 1:50Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:52OK, well, let's get back. So my cousin Tara, like Logan,
- 1:56listens and she called me because she had a couple things
- 2:00to say about our podcast. She agrees with Logan that you
- 2:05talk too much and she, which we know that we are.
- 2:09This is nothing new to any of us, and that she now knows way
- 2:13more than she even wanted to about comic books.
- 2:17Oh, well, I told you. Well, I had, we had discussed,
- 2:20we had discussed that no one would care about that
- 2:23particular, that subject that much and.
- 2:25We all know way more than we wanted to.
- 2:27I will, you know what, now I will defend myself really quick
- 2:31in terms of comic books, as long as we and as long as we work
- 2:34together. Michelle, how often did I bring
- 2:37up comic books? Honestly, Truthfully.
- 2:39I mean, very rarely, unless it again, like you were bidding on
- 2:43one on eBay while we were doing a radio show because you were
- 2:48distracted by eBay or something like that.
- 2:51Then we would discuss it like, Oh well, which one are you
- 2:54trying to get or? Right, right, but but that.
- 2:57Kind of thing. But no, you didn't you didn't
- 3:00like drone on and on about your comic book.
- 3:03So which ones you have? And no, you never did that.
- 3:07You're not that. But but, yeah, even as long as
- 3:09you know me, 20 + 20 + 30 years that I've known you and a lot of
- 3:13people have made that comment like, you know, yeah, they know
- 3:15I collect comic books, but it's like I don't, I don't ever
- 3:18discuss it. I really don't.
- 3:19That was the one time that we actually discussed it.
- 3:23And so it's like, and, and so a normal conversation or where if
- 3:27you're a rabid super fan, so I've got a Co worker at work,
- 3:30he's a rabid super fan of the Seahawks, of the Kraken, of the
- 3:34Mariners, of comic books, of Star Wars.
- 3:37And so the first like minute or two you're like, oh, that's
- 3:41interesting. And then, OK, now I'm done, you
- 3:43know? That's a lot of things to.
- 3:46Oh yeah. Have those like a hobby type
- 3:49thing. Normally I have one or two and,
- 3:51but that's a. Lot so I've come to the
- 3:53conclusion that my Co worker he has got to be a little bit on
- 3:58the spectrum. His son, his son is autistic.
- 4:01I know for sure, but I thought he like we've talked about this
- 4:04in the podcast. He's an expert at everything
- 4:07like if you mentioned if you mentioned like my my my big
- 4:10truck outside and it's jacked up.
- 4:12Oh, he, he knows all about the hydraulic hydraulic system and,
- 4:15you know, so, so I mean, he like, yeah, I could go on for
- 4:19hours about all the things that he likes.
- 4:21And he's the, I mean, he's the expert in those, those
- 4:24particular things. I'm like, I'm like, that's too
- 4:26much brain. I mean, I, my brain has so much
- 4:30capacity. Yeah.
- 4:33Doesn't your brain have so much capacity?
- 4:35Yeah, mine has less than yours. Well, it's so much capacity, so
- 4:39it's like it's hard enough to concentrate on, on just what
- 4:42things I do like. Yeah, it's it's hard for me to
- 4:45remember what I ate yesterday. So I don't even have kids like,
- 4:50like younger kids at home anymore.
- 4:52Like that was chaos back when they were all under the roof.
- 4:55But yeah. And I also checked in with our
- 4:58friend John Taylor and he said he's good.
- 5:01He said to send you his best and that he's enjoying the podcast.
- 5:05So there's there's three people that listen to us right there,
- 5:09Logan, Tara and John Taylor. So.
- 5:11That's wonderful. Well, thank you.
- 5:13And yes, I and I have, I have taken it all under advisements
- 5:17that that you know. You need to talk less.
- 5:22Well, it's there, yeah, it's but it.
- 5:25Is and we discussed like you mentioned before, there are no
- 5:30commercial breaks or music and yeah, so we can just drone on
- 5:35and on and on. Not that people want to hear
- 5:38that, but. So the cool thing about radio
- 5:40is, you know, you really have to look at it like in two to three
- 5:43minute segments. And even at 3 minutes, you're
- 5:46you're, you're really overshooting.
- 5:48Yeah, yeah. Because the the thing about
- 5:51radio is a little behind the scenes about radio is the
- 5:55average person's commute is 1520 minutes.
- 5:58So your goal is to get a couple songs in, play some commercials,
- 6:02hopefully do something that's interesting to keep them
- 6:04engaged. And and that's why on radio,
- 6:07especially at music station and a morning show, you know, once
- 6:10you hit two to well, once you get 3 minutes, man, it's like.
- 6:15Right, which is why a lot of times too you would hear stuff
- 6:19recycled. So like if ever like if somebody
- 6:21listened for the entire 3 or 4 hours.
- 6:24So that's why you would hear like something that you heard in
- 6:27the 6:00 hour, in the 8:00 hour again, so.
- 6:31Yeah, because like because the average person that listens to
- 6:34radio really only listens 20 minutes a day, right.
- 6:36But and then they go in and out and so, and then and then if, if
- 6:40you've been listening to a morning show for many years,
- 6:43they're going to, I mean, there's going to be the same
- 6:44stories or the same topics. The nice thing about radio,
- 6:47though, is they hadn't heard the story before.
- 6:50So, so a great example on on the air today.
- 6:53We were talking about Thanksgiving site.
- 6:56Oh, no. In our other people's problems,
- 6:57we had a situation where there was a little boy, he was 8 years
- 7:00old and all he wants is pizza. And so his mom is trying to
- 7:05figure out, right. And so I had told the, I had
- 7:08told the story from my book about Pearl.
- 7:12I had to at least try one food at least at least once.
- 7:16And then if I didn't like it, I didn't have to eat it.
- 7:17And so a great example is they they I like sauerkraut or liver
- 7:23onions or cow's tongue or. Any of that stuff.
- 7:27Yeah, so even when I was 8 years old, the down on the Bogans
- 7:30Oasis, my mom is a great cook. I'm a great cook.
- 7:34And it was interesting that I that that was the beauty of
- 7:36living in the restaurant is the fact that they would, she would
- 7:39make that, like she'd make mom and dad sauerkraut or whatever
- 7:42and I'd get a hamburger, which was cool.
- 7:45So really. The exception to most kids?
- 7:49Like right? So the.
- 7:50Moms are not a short order cook and they're.
- 7:52No, no, I get it. So the cool thing is I'm doing
- 7:55this on the air today and I get this Facebook message from
- 7:58somebody and they got my book open to where I'm talking about
- 8:03the, the, the food now. And like this she goes, this
- 8:05sure seems familiar. The, the, the Facebook person
- 8:08who, you know, And so they had it open to that, that chapter
- 8:12where I'm talking about and, and then I'm on the air talking
- 8:14about other people's problems or that particular situation.
- 8:16So it's interesting how all that is nebulous and, and different
- 8:20things like that and all these, these different stories that,
- 8:23that, that we have to tell. And, and so the nice thing about
- 8:26the podcast is, yeah, we do get to embellish or we get to, you
- 8:29know, talk a little more about well, yeah, but I think you get
- 8:33a, you get an opportunity to, to, to, I think dwell deeper.
- 8:37Yes. Into into into a story.
- 8:40And so hopefully, you know, and hopefully it's not boring, you
- 8:42know, and I get it. I get I mean, I get comic books
- 8:45for some people like no, I mean, I but but see, I think you've
- 8:50got to be. I've been very fortunate that
- 8:54and you know this about me too self aware that I know like I
- 8:58can tell when I'm in a conversation where I'm like, oh,
- 9:00this is a this is a dud. Right, right.
- 9:03You know I need to. Right.
- 9:06Find an off ramp and talk about something.
- 9:07Different right, but but you and I both had Co workers where
- 9:10you're like Oh my God, I I can't you know they.
- 9:12They don't get it. They don't get the cues.
- 9:15Well, it's a great example. I have a Co worker at work right
- 9:17now who their kid is. It's a great, she's a great
- 9:20baseball player, which is awesome.
- 9:22But what's so funny is he'll come in, talk about two minutes
- 9:25about, oh, my, my daughter. I'm like, oh, that's awesome.
- 9:28Then he starts going, well, Coach says.
- 9:30And then he starts breaking down into rules and the complexities
- 9:33of softball, and I'm like, OK, all right, you know, And he just
- 9:37keeps going, going, going, going, going, like I'm kind of
- 9:39doing on the podcast right now. Right.
- 9:41Yeah, yeah. And I'd just be thinking, you
- 9:44know what, your kid is not gonna make it in the majors.
- 9:47So I mean. Oh, don't go.
- 9:49Oh, I mean, the percentage, I don't, I mean, the likelihood
- 9:53that your kid is going to make it in the majors is a very, very
- 9:57small percentage. I mean, when my son played
- 10:00baseball at nine years old and these men that are coaching are
- 10:03losing their goddamn minds because we're losing.
- 10:07And it's like, and they're yelling at the kids.
- 10:09It's like they're nine. They are not going to end up in
- 10:14Major League Baseball. The percentage of any of these
- 10:17kids is slim to none, but they're going to make it on a
- 10:19Major League Baseball team. Sure, it could happen and that
- 10:22would be awesome, but let's just let them play baseball because
- 10:26they're nine and have fun, not like sucking the life out of it.
- 10:30You know, for a short period in in Yakima.
- 10:33So Logan. Logan has done the YMCA, He's
- 10:37done basketball. Logan in high school, he was on
- 10:40the wrestling team, he was on the football team.
- 10:42He's on all these things that I that I wasn't.
- 10:44But I will tell you that he was probably about eight or nine
- 10:47years old and. And coach Will you remember
- 10:50Coach Will? I don't know what's that you
- 10:52remember Coach Will in Yakima. OK, so so that's How I Met Coach
- 10:56Will was Logan was on the soccer team in Yakima.
- 10:58I think it was for the Y Navy. So Logan, at that age, I saw him
- 11:03out on the field and he was struggling.
- 11:06And of course, me being that dad, no, I didn't do it to I
- 11:09never did it to Logan. I run fast.
- 11:11No, no, no, no, I'm not. Again, again.
- 11:14Yeah, I'm not that guy. But but I remember going up to
- 11:17the coach and saying and I went and I go, how's how's Logan
- 11:20doing? You know, and coach, we all
- 11:22being awesome. He just looks at me and goes and
- 11:25Logan was out there huffing and puffing and doing the best he
- 11:28could. He.
- 11:28Was trying. He was trying and that's really
- 11:31what counts. And coach Will goes.
- 11:33He goes. You know what?
- 11:34Logan may not be the fastest on the team.
- 11:37He goes, but he plays with hearts and she and he goes, I
- 11:41take. I goes, I take, he goes.
- 11:43I take 10 Logan's over the the best player on the team.
- 11:46Well, you'd need 10 Logan's to win, I mean.
- 11:48Right. Well, and usually usually they
- 11:51are easily coachable. Like they are.
- 11:53Coachable, You know, so they listen better, right?
- 11:55So. Then so.
- 11:56I've had, you know, I've had those, those proud, those proud
- 11:59moments with Logan that I mean, and I have the photo, I got to
- 12:02bring out the photo someday, but I got the photo, yeah, packed
- 12:05away of him. So yeah, that.
- 12:07Yeah. Now we could talk about that on
- 12:08a different podcast about what what an expectation is from for
- 12:12sports. It's not.
- 12:13Yeah, yeah, cuz Benjamin, he, he hit like a winning run for like
- 12:19this inner city league. So I could tell that story
- 12:21because it's probably like the one time like I was like crying
- 12:25like during one of my kids games cuz it was so important and so
- 12:29important to him. But yeah, we can save that for
- 12:31another podcast. I did find something in storage.
- 12:34What'd you find? It's the little bull.
- 12:37Yeah, Oh my. God, little bee baby like a.
- 12:43Beanie, Beanie bowl. It's a beanie bowl.
- 12:45Yeah, it's like the last three boxes out of storage.
- 12:47They were all the kids stuffed animals.
- 12:50Wow. Yeah, I think Jackson had one
- 12:51and Shaylee had one. This is the other one doesn't
- 12:54have its shirt on. I don't know what the kids were
- 12:55doing, but this one came with this little 92.9 the bull shirt.
- 13:00So yeah, I'm just beginning with my radio stuff.
- 13:03Those Beanie Bulls were so popular.
- 13:05I think I may have one in storage still tucked away
- 13:07underneath our underneath our stairs.
- 13:09I will tell you one of the coolest things, coolest memories
- 13:11of those those Beanie Bulls was Chris Cagle had come to the
- 13:15Yakima Fair. And so during one of the
- 13:18concerts and we had gotten the presents for Chris Cagle.
- 13:21This is back in the day when they gave you presents or
- 13:23welcomed your presents and so. OK, well explain.
- 13:25I don't think we've discussed presents or welcome before in
- 13:28like past podcasts or just. And it's really OK.
- 13:32Yeah, you. Yeah.
- 13:33And this is really, and this has really changed in radio.
- 13:35But it used to be 1 hell of a fight.
- 13:38So what happened? It was like knock down drag out
- 13:41who got. To and now and now looking back,
- 13:44truthfully, it's ridiculous when you think about it's just the
- 13:46dumbest crap ever. But hey, that's the way radio
- 13:49rolled back in the day. So here's the deal.
- 13:52When an artist comes to town, like this weekend, this weekend
- 13:55we've got Zach Top coming. You know, huge country artist.
- 13:57He's doing 2 shows Saturday and Sunday night.
- 14:00He's the biggest this thing on the planet right now.
- 14:01He's from Sunnyside. Zach Top, he's from Sunnyside.
- 14:04Huge deal. He's up for several Cmas.
- 14:06He's I don't know if you've heard of him, Michelle yet, but
- 14:09he's a traditional country artist like in the vein of
- 14:12George Strait, Alan Jackson. He's got three big number one
- 14:15hits on the radio. So it we're playing Zach top
- 14:18nonstop and he's from Sunnyside, which is an amazing thing.
- 14:21So so he's come to town. So this weekend, my competition,
- 14:26the Wolf and KORD, we're both allowed to be on site.
- 14:30Like we could be on site. Now, back in the day, they would
- 14:33divvy up who could be on site, who could have access to the
- 14:37artists. And there's this thing I know we
- 14:40did discuss being a reporter like you reported your records
- 14:44and then we talked about the promoter and different things
- 14:46like that. So if you were a reporter, it
- 14:48weighed heavily to where, oh, well, KXDD is going to get the,
- 14:53the presents. And so when we signed the bull
- 14:55on way back in 2000, 2001, I wasn't even part of the station
- 14:59at the time for the bowl. I remember Cheryl going to have
- 15:02to go to the, the, the fair of award and they, you know, so the
- 15:06night is so a great example if you're, if you're the only
- 15:09classic rocket station in town. Well, if Blue Öyster Cult was
- 15:12coming, you got that show automatically.
- 15:14Right. But, but you would fight over
- 15:18the, the, the, the, the country station would fight or the Top
- 15:2040 would fight or. The two country stations in town
- 15:23that we have. Yes.
- 15:25Now what that got you was basically, oh, you got to go on
- 15:27stage. Hi everybody, right before.
- 15:29The Yeah. Yes, Oh my gosh, that's Chris
- 15:31Hagel. I welcome to the fair.
- 15:33Now the cool thing, Michelle, back in the day was they used to
- 15:38let you like right and like the band would come out and start
- 15:41the show. That was the cool thing about
- 15:44it. So you'd be like, and here's
- 15:45Chris Kegel and they go that music are already playing.
- 15:49It's a it's a rock star moment. Well, nowadays they do what they
- 15:53call soft openings. So guess what, your ass and if
- 15:57even if you get the welcomes, your ass goes out there 15
- 16:01minutes before the the the even the first act I.
- 16:06Mean nobody's even in their seats they're.
- 16:08Also getting their you welcome people, you can throw out some
- 16:11T-shirts or whatever, you get to welcome them and that's it at
- 16:15the fair here. The hilarity at the fair here is
- 16:18you welcome everybody. They do the Star Spangled Banner
- 16:22or the national national anthem or whatever.
- 16:24Then you wait 10 minutes before the ACT even come comes out.
- 16:27So and they call it a soft opening.
- 16:29So but we used to fight like cats and dogs to get the
- 16:33presents and welcome. So when you hear these promos,
- 16:36which is a little recorded commercial on the air, they go
- 16:3892.9. The bull welcomes Chris Cagle to
- 16:41the you know, welcome is not is not the same as presents.
- 16:45So then you hear KXTD going KXTD presents Garth Brooks at the
- 16:49fair, and so you'd know who has welcomes or presents welcomes.
- 16:53Means nobody knows the difference.
- 16:54Who? Knows.
- 16:56Like normal listeners understands that other than us
- 17:00and radio like who would even know the difference?
- 17:05No one. No, no, exactly.
- 17:07And no. And so and so you would fight
- 17:09like cats and dogs to get these things for your two minutes up
- 17:11on stage. And then and then you'd be
- 17:14dastardly about it. I mean, you would try to do
- 17:16whatever you could do to undermine the other guy.
- 17:19So he'd had, let's say he had his roller banners up or
- 17:21whatever, and you'd go and take all of his roller banners.
- 17:23And these were vicious radio. We used to go in roller banner
- 17:26the night before, remember? That Oh yeah, so none of that's
- 17:30allowed anymore. Like it's not a well who has OK
- 17:34number one, who has roller banner?
- 17:36Who has T-shirts? Who has stickers we don't have,
- 17:39We don't have any of that stuff. And so but, but, but the venues
- 17:44got tired. The venues got tired of all the
- 17:47fighting. And I'm going to call my record
- 17:50Rep. And, and So what happened was,
- 17:53especially with country music, Carrie Underwood or whoever
- 17:57would say, said, I want both country stations there.
- 18:00It's more, I mean more ticket sales for them.
- 18:03It's better for them. It it makes you're both.
- 18:05There and on equal footing. Yeah.
- 18:08And so and so, so, yeah, it was very, it was interesting.
- 18:12Now in the big city like Seattle, I used to love this
- 18:14with Becky Brenner, who was our consultant.
- 18:17They would have airplanes in the air.
- 18:19They would have wrapped semi trucks.
- 18:21Now the radio stations didn't pay for that.
- 18:24It's all record Rep going, hey, man, if you don't do this, we're
- 18:29going to pull the record. And so, and so that's basically
- 18:32you're holding these people hostage.
- 18:34And so I, I, I said, I used to tell Becky, I said, man, so cool
- 18:38seeing a, you know, a rap semi. And she goes and she goes, well,
- 18:41the radio, she goes, I used to work for CBS and I, yeah, it was
- 18:44so awesome. She goes can't buy shit.
- 18:48CBS can't buy shit. So that, you know, they force
- 18:52the record Rep. Yeah, they force the record Rep
- 18:54or the management into just absurd.
- 18:56I need an airplane in the air with a banner that says, you
- 18:59know, KMPS welcomes Garth Brooks.
- 19:04Gosh I know it feels so bad asking for just tickets and
- 19:06backstage passes because that all comes out of their own
- 19:09budget. The.
- 19:10Record does. It's not just like free tickets
- 19:13magically out of the air for anyone and.
- 19:15Everybody. And So what happened in Seattle
- 19:17was OK, so KMPS has KMPS has an airplane.
- 19:20Well, suddenly the Wolf has an airplane because it was tit for
- 19:23tat. Yes, yes.
- 19:25You know, so, yeah, anyway, a bunch of horror stories there.
- 19:29So you learn something new. Well, so, so.
- 19:33Yeah. So nowadays, yeah.
- 19:34You, you it's not one of those things that you have to like,
- 19:37you're like, everybody's technically welcome.
- 19:39And again, no one's got. And then now you can't because
- 19:43what would happen is at the end, let's say we're doing, let's say
- 19:46you're doing the ferret Yakima or even tri-cities is the radio
- 19:49station would leave their banner, the roller banner
- 19:51everywhere, and it would get trashed.
- 19:54So it looked, it looked shitty and it looked dumpy.
- 19:58And so, so the venue people are like, hey man, no, no more.
- 20:02So now with what? The nice thing about the
- 20:04electronic screens is they just put your logo up.
- 20:06Right. And and The funny thing at our
- 20:09fair, it just rotates with everybody else.
- 20:12So even if it's. Turn I do most places that I've
- 20:15seen them besides the fares. Yeah, so the good news is here
- 20:19in in Tri-cities, at least for the fair, they still do welcomes
- 20:23they still you. Know I mean.
- 20:24I mean, they still do presents. Yeah.
- 20:26And you're rotating, and you're rotating on this big sign.
- 20:29The hilarity is again, you're 20 minutes before the ACT ever
- 20:33comes on stage and no one's in. There aren't in their states,
- 20:35Yeah, no. So you learn something, you
- 20:37learn something new today. There you go.
- 20:39Yep. Yep.
- 20:40All right. Well, I want to talk about this
- 20:41hunting story that I teased the end of last podcast or during
- 20:45last podcast, I don't remember. Why you don't?
- 20:48Hunt right? So I think I was probably like 6
- 20:52because my brother was an infant and my mom told me that I needed
- 20:57to stay in the house. I couldn't go outside to play.
- 21:00I had this brand new swing set. So of course me, a little 6 year
- 21:03old me, wants to go outside and always be on the swing set,
- 21:06swinging, going down the slide. And my mom is adamant that I
- 21:10cannot go outside even though I know that my dad is outside.
- 21:16So I know that it would be all right for me to be outside
- 21:18because my dad is outside. So while my mom is changing my
- 21:23brother's a diaper in the other room, little 6 year old me slips
- 21:27out the back door and I go tearing around the side of the
- 21:31house. And as I come to see my swing
- 21:34set, hanging from my swing set by its legs is this deer.
- 21:42It has its entire like stomach cut open.
- 21:45His little head is like hanging there with those little brown
- 21:48eyes staring right at me. me and I like dead stop and turn right
- 21:55around and go yelling back into the house.
- 21:59Dad killed Bambi, Dad killed Bambi because at this time Bambi
- 22:04had also came out. And I am like bawling like I am
- 22:08crying. I am inconsolable.
- 22:10And of course my mom is like, I told you not to go outside.
- 22:13She has no sympathy for me whatsoever.
- 22:16I mean, you did what? You were supposed to be.
- 22:19Doing right, right but I mean, my dad tried to tell me it's not
- 22:21Bambi, he tried to calm me down. It's not Bambi, it's OK and so
- 22:27from. Bambi's mom.
- 22:28Because that. Yeah, it's Mom.
- 22:30Yes, but. That's a Disney.
- 22:31Little 6 year old me just thought it was Bambi yeah yeah
- 22:34yeah that yeah that movie. I also cried watching that movie
- 22:38when I. Was like 6.
- 22:39Everybody does, but yeah. Dumbo.
- 22:41Famous Dumbo. Yeah, oh God, yes.
- 22:43And so from that point on, anytime we had any type of meat,
- 22:47I would I would ask, yes, I would ask like, what is this?
- 22:52Where did it come from? Like every single time.
- 22:56And I know they probably lied to me at I mean, because I just
- 22:59kept asking and I wouldn't eat if I thought it was like deer or
- 23:02elk. I mean, my dad has killed a
- 23:04black bear, mountain goat, but he eats all the meat.
- 23:09So it's not like it goes to waste or anything.
- 23:11But yeah, that is my hunting story.
- 23:14And I just never, to me getting up super early in the freezing
- 23:18cold and sitting there for hours, you know, you have to be
- 23:22still and quiet for hours. And there's no way it does.
- 23:28Which, you know, my hat's off to all the hunters that have that
- 23:31kind of patience. And I know a lot of them use the
- 23:33meat and, and I think it's great for them, but not for me, not my
- 23:39gym so. Yeah, I know that Kyron.
- 23:41Kyron. So if you didn't know this, I
- 23:43don't know if we talked about this, but Megan's family has a
- 23:45giant farm out in Condon, Oregon, and it's 8000 acres.
- 23:50And so the family goes out hunting every single year.
- 23:53And so Kyron this year got his very first buck.
- 23:56And but he had his, he had his tags and he applied for it and
- 24:00he did it. He did it legally.
- 24:02And I think the head is now buried out in the chicken coop
- 24:04or whatever, or whatever, but the meat's all cut up.
- 24:07It went and got taken care of. And, and even though I'm not,
- 24:11even though I'm not a hunter, I definitely grew up around it on
- 24:15the Grand Ronde River and very familiar with it.
- 24:17And, and I've been on multiple hunting just never was my thing.
- 24:20But but I was, I was proud of him.
- 24:22He got it. And again, I, you know me, I'm
- 24:25in the camp if it's legal. Yeah.
- 24:27You know, I'm, I'm good with that.
- 24:29Now what I think, what I think of hunting when being a a coward
- 24:33is Ted Nugent, who he's a bow, bow copter.
- 24:38Well, he's a bow and arrow hunter.
- 24:40And so he dropped a pig into his compound, dropped a pig into a
- 24:43wild pig into his compound. I'm like, the pig has nowhere to
- 24:47run. Like it's not a fighting chance.
- 24:50Great. So I.
- 24:51Thought you were going to say he was like flying in a helicopter.
- 24:54You know those people that like fly in the helicopter and shoot
- 24:57the animal as it's running. It's like, I'm sorry that.
- 25:00I don't want to. I don't want to say.
- 25:01I don't want to say the word, but I may just say it.
- 25:03Pussies. I can't.
- 25:05You know, it's OK. I always mark us as explicit,
- 25:09so. Well, just in terms of that,
- 25:10because I, I, I find that to be cowardly.
- 25:14I find I mean again, I mean if you got your tags and your
- 25:16legal, so be it Go go but. I think, you know, where we grew
- 25:20up was you didn't hunt like that.
- 25:22Like you went out there and trucked in the woods for miles
- 25:27and miles and then sat there and wait.
- 25:29You know, there were no helicopters.
- 25:31Yeah, and there's or. People hunting like that where
- 25:33we are. Yeah.
- 25:35And even like ATVs, I mean, horseback, my dad would go
- 25:39horseback. But this would be like way in
- 25:42the, you know, the back country where they didn't have a choice.
- 25:45They would have to ride their horses in and then set up camp.
- 25:48And the horses stayed at camp. They didn't go, you know,
- 25:51chasing after the elk, obviously, or deer or whatever
- 25:54it was they were after. So.
- 25:55Yeah. Oh, no.
- 25:56I, I, my fresh parents were, they were big.
- 25:59They were big, there are big gang people and big, big camping
- 26:03and all that and going up And one of the pictures of my foster
- 26:06dad, I don't have very many pictures of Joe, my dog, but one
- 26:09of the pictures I do have is of my foster dad and he's on he's
- 26:13on Chico and I think morning Glory, morning Glory's got the
- 26:16dead deer on the back of morning Glory.
- 26:19And then there's Joe, Joe and polar bear kind of circling
- 26:21around the dead deer. So you know, that's my childhood
- 26:24there on the grand run. So again, it's like, I mean, now
- 26:28I now when you talk about not shooting, have you ever shot
- 26:32like a gun like like. Yeah, I've shot like guns, but
- 26:36not at a thing. Not at a living.
- 26:38Thing not at a living thing I would I don't even want to like
- 26:43no, I think I would have really have AI would I would have a
- 26:47very difficult time like knowing that I took this life, even if
- 26:52it is for food purposes I know you know like I'm going to feed
- 26:55my family I just can't personally myself do that and I
- 27:00know other people can and that's all fine I do like to fish I can
- 27:03go fishing all day long so. Yeah, my, my, yeah, my, my, my
- 27:09dad, my real dad, big fisherman. And my sister's a big fisherman.
- 27:13She goes on massive fishing trips to Alaska.
- 27:15She got that for my dad. We went fishing as kids.
- 27:18I mean, I did all, I did all of those things as kids.
- 27:21And now I just prefer to go to Safeway and get what I need.
- 27:24And not not, I just don't, I don't take, I, I guess I don't
- 27:29take enjoyment in taking a life, even if it is food.
- 27:33I understand. I understand why we do it.
- 27:35Circle of life. But all I'm going to say is when
- 27:38aliens come and they're and they're popping off humans, I am
- 27:42not going to feel sorry. And I'm going to give them a
- 27:44list of humans they can go after first, right?
- 27:46Ted Nugent's going to be at the top.
- 27:48He'll be at the top. Yeah, I've got.
- 27:49No, I've got no problem. If I, you know, I see some alien
- 27:51gorging on Ted Nugent, I'll be like, yeah.
- 27:56I'll be like, fuck yeah. Which when we watch The Walking
- 28:00Dead, I'm always like, I don't, I will, I just want to die.
- 28:03I don't want to live through this because I would not be able
- 28:06to hunt for my own food. I, you know, there wouldn't be
- 28:09coffee and hot water. I'm like, I don't, I don't want
- 28:12to try and live through the zombie apocalypse.
- 28:14I'm I'm fine with just going outgoing.
- 28:16Outgoing out now see. To try to survive and don't.
- 28:21Want out now? Megan hates when I mentioned
- 28:24this, but I'm going to mention it.
- 28:25It's like if there's a zombie apocalypse, guess who I want on
- 28:29my team? I want Team Megan because she
- 28:31is. She knows how to hunt and fish
- 28:33and, well, she's. Resourceful.
- 28:35Well, Megan is resourceful. I guess it's, you know, it's
- 28:37like, it's like, yeah, you know, make Megan is resourceful.
- 28:41And so I, that would be, it was funny.
- 28:44She sent me a, she sent me a TikTok a couple days ago with
- 28:47where the, where the wife is the, the Carpenter at the house.
- 28:51And so, and so Home Depot's like, Oh yeah, can we talk to
- 28:54the man of the house to get a water heater and, and she's out
- 28:57there. Well, the wife's building shit
- 28:59and all, you know, cabinets and all, you know, replacing the
- 29:02siding on the House and all these different things.
- 29:04And so, so I've always said if there was a zombie apocalypse, I
- 29:07I would like to believe that one thing.
- 29:10Megan will keep you alive. Well, yeah, well, Megan's got a
- 29:13cool head. I mean, I think she's I think, I
- 29:15mean, like you said, we'd be like, yeah, we like, yeah, we
- 29:20probably back it out. But as they say, cooler heads.
- 29:24So I think that she would have a better chance of surviving for
- 29:27the for the resourcefulness. Now, again, I just understand
- 29:30why we can't just outrun these damn zombies.
- 29:31I mean, they're not going that fast.
- 29:33I mean, I am a fast runner. Same with like The Last of Us.
- 29:36Well, until like, they kind of. I don't know what the word is
- 29:42for what I stopped watching. Oh well.
- 29:44When they adapt. When they adapt.
- 29:46Yes, when they adapt and yes and kind of almost when they I.
- 29:50Don't know when they evolve. Yes.
- 29:51Evolve. Sorry, I was like my brain is.
- 29:53Blushing for a second. Yes, I know you were talking
- 29:56earlier about who you would put. OK, so we said we said, let's
- 29:59say Ted Nugent. You know, I I put Scott Baio on
- 30:03the list. I'd put Kid Rock on the list.
- 30:07I mean, Jon Voight, I mean, I shouldn't say these things, but
- 30:10but God. So you know exactly where I'm
- 30:12headed by just naming those people.
- 30:14Yeah. They're the topic that I know
- 30:15you want to talk about. And I'm going to give you, I'm
- 30:18going to give you the floor right now for this.
- 30:20Time. Well, I mean, we did mention
- 30:22that we try not to, we talk about politics too much.
- 30:25But since you just mentioned all those people, something that
- 30:28happened this week that really it really like, I felt it like I
- 30:34was that reporter. So it's when the president is on
- 30:39Air Force One, he's taking questions from all these
- 30:41reporters and one of the female reporters fires a question at
- 30:45him. I think it was about Jeffrey
- 30:46Epstein. I don't even remember the
- 30:48question now, but he his response was quiet, quiet piggy.
- 30:54And that when I saw that video again, like I was that reporter,
- 31:01like I felt that with every fiber of my being because I have
- 31:06been in that situation, whether it's with bosses or coworkers, I
- 31:11have been the one being bullied and demeaned like that.
- 31:14And so it really upset me. I mean, I know he says some
- 31:19controversial things and everybody tries to give him a
- 31:22pass that oh, you know, he just says those things.
- 31:24He's different. But I don't I don't.
- 31:28This just felt gross and icky and just a lot more horrible
- 31:34than he normally is towards reporters, if that makes sense.
- 31:38I don't know if you understand that because you're a man.
- 31:41And so which I don't want to say that this doesn't happen to men.
- 31:45You know I'm not saying that. No, no, no, we have, we've,
- 31:48we've had this talk quite a bit. Number one, my foster mom would
- 31:53have beaten the crap out of me. That would have been that would
- 31:58I? So we, we can be, the crazy
- 32:00thing is we can be a, you know, opposing viewpoints on anything,
- 32:03politics, whatever religion, you name it, when it becomes
- 32:07harassment, you know. Right or calling people names.
- 32:10And I think the name too. I think the fact that it was
- 32:13like Piggy because when you think of a pig, you think of as
- 32:17an animal that is dirty and gross or were fat or, you know,
- 32:21whatever it is. And so just that word itself
- 32:25being, you know, woman being called that is.
- 32:28And from the president and I guess, you know, to me, it's
- 32:31like, I don't care if it was Bill Clinton.
- 32:32I don't care if it's Obama. I don't care if it's Jimmy
- 32:34Carter, Ronald Reagan, the Bushes.
- 32:37I just think my biggest problem more than anything else, I don't
- 32:41care. You know, it's like I want the
- 32:44president to be presidential, yes, and so and so and that and,
- 32:48and for me, that is the job. Whether I agree or disagree with
- 32:52anybody who's on office, I expect them to take the High
- 32:55Road. But you were never going to get
- 32:57this from a guy who who went after Rosie O'Donnell, who
- 33:01right, the list goes on and on. So the that's his.
- 33:04MO, that's his MO, you know, is especially women.
- 33:08It's more so women. I mean, I know he's done it to a
- 33:10few men, yes. Yeah, and and, but, but they
- 33:14defended there was the more sad situation.
- 33:16Michelle is not one man. Right defended her or stood up
- 33:21for. Her.
- 33:21You know which. I think they're afraid, they're
- 33:25all afraid they're going to lose their access, their press
- 33:28passes, but still it's like your integrity or I mean, I, I don't
- 33:34know, or I mean, I guess it would be their job.
- 33:36So maybe, maybe they have to. I've had their job over
- 33:41integrity. I don't know.
- 33:42I've had several moments in my life where I've, I've stood up
- 33:49for people in, in situations because it, I, I feel like it's
- 33:54an injustice and I'm not going to, I won't let it happen.
- 33:57So many years ago when I was working at the skating rink,
- 34:00This is back when I was like 1819 years old and there was
- 34:04some, there was some teenagers. There were girl, they were girls
- 34:06or teenagers, right? Well, a couple of them didn't
- 34:10smell so good. And so it was funny that
- 34:14somebody skated up next to. So they were so they're on the
- 34:16backside of the DJ booth. They were making a request.
- 34:19I'm polite. I don't say anything.
- 34:21Well, some, some teenager skates right up next to them and goes,
- 34:25you know, Pew. Oh, you.
- 34:27Yeah. And so I benched the guy.
- 34:30I benched him. I benched him like you're
- 34:32getting benched. And I went and I explained to
- 34:34him, OK, number one, they were complete strangers, but it's
- 34:38just, you don't treat people that way.
- 34:41And so and so, and I've seen this a lot and it's like, I, I
- 34:47can't be a part. I, I can't support people.
- 34:51Like I don't care. I don't care if they gave, I've
- 34:53talked about this. I don't care if they gave me
- 34:55$1,000,000. Right.
- 34:57I can't how you treat people as my number one, my number one and
- 35:03we can disagree about. Anything that's also an
- 35:06indicator of who you are as a person, like how you would treat
- 35:10the wait staff or any of. That's my #1.
- 35:13It shows who you truly are as a person.
- 35:17But there's no but again, there's no fallout.
- 35:19There's no retribution. There's no no it's allowed.
- 35:23Yeah, and and I would not want my daughter.
- 35:25And you got a portion, yeah, but you got a portion of the country
- 35:28who just cheers, cheers it on. I mean, they like that.
- 35:34That means that he's a strong guy.
- 35:36It's like you're, again, you're picking on women.
- 35:38It's mainly women. Yeah, but.
- 35:41He is doing this too. But it's but it's interesting
- 35:45who they've decided to be their their macho male role model.
- 35:50I agree. I don't, I don't understand.
- 35:53So when we're when we're talking about cults, I'm very
- 35:56fascinated. Allison Mack, who recently got
- 35:58out of prison. She's part of the Smallville
- 36:00thing. And she's part of the next
- 36:02whatever. Next some she's part of next
- 36:05some she just did a podcast with one of the guys from Smallville
- 36:09and I have I watched it because she was she was trafficking, she
- 36:12was trafficking young girls that they were branded.
- 36:15I mean the list goes on and on. And I thought it was interesting
- 36:18and we can do this on a different podcast, but she
- 36:21talked about that. She says that good people can do
- 36:26bad things, but it doesn't make them bad people.
- 36:30Now, some people are just born evil or just bad.
- 36:34That is true. I do believe that.
- 36:36So but I but for me, I OK, I do believe that yeah, good people
- 36:40can do bad things, but you rectify it.
- 36:44You learn, right? Once you recognize, oh, you
- 36:48know, because I look back, Patty and I talk about this on the air
- 36:50lot or off the air lot is remember when we were kids and
- 36:54we used to, I used to say a lot of well, number one, I, I mean,
- 36:57I've, I've been very honest about it.
- 37:00Like I was probably, I was probably homophobic in my youth,
- 37:04you know, to some extent or, or you would you?
- 37:06I wouldn't say homophobic, but I'd go, Oh, that's gay.
- 37:09Right. But right you're, but you're 12
- 37:11years old, you're 13, right? You know, remember when we used
- 37:14to make the slanted eyes? Yes.
- 37:17When you were a kid, yes I mean I I've done all those horrific
- 37:21things no and and Megan even taught me when I first met Megan
- 37:24one time I said Oh well that's retarded and she don't say that
- 37:28no right now or. That's my grandma used to say
- 37:33I'm going to Jew her down. It's like, well, you don't say
- 37:35that either. Like that's horrible.
- 37:37But but being a good person means I recognize the behavior
- 37:42and I will never do it again. You don't say so going back to
- 37:44Piggy, when you continually do that, think about how we I mean,
- 37:48what would you would you want to work for this guy?
- 37:50I wouldn't want to. I don't care.
- 37:52I would not want to work. I would never work.
- 37:53Well, I just wouldn't. No, and I would not want my
- 37:56daughter talked to by some man at her job like that or anyone,
- 38:01anyone that I know I would not want them to talk to like that.
- 38:04It's just it's not called for. I mean, there isn't.
- 38:07And I get that. Like maybe he didn't like the
- 38:09question, but then don't don't respond with that like an insult
- 38:15just because. Next question please take.
- 38:18The question. Yeah.
- 38:21But I think one of the I think one of the my biggest struggle
- 38:23with more than anything else is it's one OK, So like, well, he
- 38:27but he loves beautiful women. OK, I like beautiful women.
- 38:30I, I could, I admire beautiful women from afar.
- 38:32I know when I see an attractive woman, I know she's attractive.
- 38:36Guess what? I don't drag my knuckles like a
- 38:39Neanderthal and and and and try to alpha male her out and
- 38:43you're. Not like Cat calling her.
- 38:45You've got a great blank or you got a great duh, duh, duh.
- 38:50You know, Now I may think that in my head, but being a grown
- 38:52up, you don't say those things. And so and so I do I, I expect
- 38:58from my president, I expect, I don't care if they're Republican
- 39:02or Democrat. I don't care if they're
- 39:03independent. I don't care if they're Green
- 39:04Party. I expect them to be
- 39:07presidential. And when you take that office,
- 39:09you are supposed to be. This is why I already have a
- 39:12problem is you're supposed to be the president for everybody.
- 39:15Yes. And you're supposed to hear what
- 39:17everybody has to say and. Which I think is right, which I
- 39:23think that is a huge problem in politics is the, the Republicans
- 39:28or the Democrats. It's I'm only for my base or, or
- 39:32I'm only going to do this for my base or my people or whatever.
- 39:35And I somebody said this, it's been a couple weeks that if
- 39:39you're a politician, you need to think of all your constituents
- 39:43as your family. Like they are all your family
- 39:46members regardless of Democrat, Republican, they are all in your
- 39:50family and you need to take care of them equally.
- 39:55I think it's gotten I was thinking about a couple days
- 39:57ago. I think it's creepy that so I so
- 40:00I've unfollowed. I'm still friends with a lot of
- 40:02people. I don't I don't unfriend
- 40:03somebody. I don't unfriend somebody on
- 40:05Facebook because they don't believe politically like I do.
- 40:07I just don't believe. I think that's childish, right?
- 40:09But. I think it's creepy, creepily
- 40:12weird that their entire makeup is their political party.
- 40:16Does that make sense? Like, we were talking, we were
- 40:18talking about earlier, like, yeah, I love comic books, right?
- 40:21But but I like a lot of other things.
- 40:23I like football. I like Ford Mustangs.
- 40:26I mean the I mean, there's tons of things I like besides comic
- 40:29books. Your complete identity isn't.
- 40:32So my whole identity isn't based on the only thing he likes is is
- 40:35comic books or the only thing he likes is Mr. Mr. Which, thank
- 40:40you. But you know we.
- 40:41Haven't talked very much about that yet, so we haven't.
- 40:44Talked about Mr. Mr. yeah, get Richard Page, get Richard Page
- 40:46on the show. So so I think it's sad to see
- 40:50somebody's whole and we have former Co workers which I had to
- 40:53unfollow because their whole identity is the party they
- 40:59belong to and it's OK. I mean I get it.
- 41:02It's I get it. But it's like, yeah, but but if
- 41:06but if somebody in your party, like I said, if, if, if somebody
- 41:09in in, in the and I'm not, you know, you know, if I like you
- 41:13said if that was Bill Clinton, if that was Obama, you.
- 41:16Know they would have lost their everybody.
- 41:17Like held their. Minds.
- 41:20I would not support him. I wouldn't vote for.
- 41:22Him. No, I would be, I would be, I
- 41:24would equally be. I would equally have felt that
- 41:26because again, I have been that woman, you know, in that
- 41:31situation. And it even goes back to the
- 41:33Epstein files. I don't care who's on the list.
- 41:36They all go to jail like I don't care I.
- 41:40Mean I don't deserve to go to jail.
- 41:41Yeah, yeah. Well, and and that goes back to
- 41:43that Nexium, the Allison Mack podcast, which you should go
- 41:48listen to was very fascinating. Oh yeah, well, she's, I watched
- 41:51the documentary about it. It's been.
- 41:52A Yeah. So so she said over 12 years.
- 41:55She was in Nexium for 12 years. It wasn't until the 8th or 9th
- 41:59year that they really started doing bad things.
- 42:02Oh, but by that time, she said, you're in the cult.
- 42:05You're brainwashed. You're brainwashed.
- 42:07And so your only job is to exemplify what everybody else is
- 42:13speaking and doing. And yeah, so and so right now I
- 42:19do, I do believe that we've got, we've got a political cult that
- 42:23you're, there's nothing you're going to say that's good.
- 42:26You know, there are men. It's disgusting.
- 42:28There are men rooting on comments like Quiet Piggy and
- 42:32that's that's horrific. Yeah.
- 42:34And again, men, if that was your daughter or wife, would you want
- 42:37her to talk to like that? No.
- 42:40Or maybe. Or maybe that's how they talk to
- 42:42their modern daughter and wives. I don't know.
- 42:44But it really isn't right. Well, I, I don't like when
- 42:49someone says, oh, they're just, they were just joking.
- 42:52Like what? Words hurt.
- 42:54I don't, you know, I don't care what they say.
- 42:55Words hurt. And it's like, and I expect so
- 42:58it's the same thing as my minister at church.
- 43:00I expect better. And he was meant.
- 43:03It was meant to be demeaning. Of course it was in her place.
- 43:07It wasn't a joke. It wasn't.
- 43:10A joke, yeah. But they all say, oh, he
- 43:12doesn't, you know, he's just joking.
- 43:13Like, no, you don't joke about crap like that.
- 43:15No. Yeah, I mean, and we've all
- 43:18yeah. And and again, it plays to their
- 43:22base. They love it.
- 43:23And but a brand new poll even from Fox News has him down to
- 43:2732% so. That's surprising.
- 43:32He's he's at his lowest ratings ever.
- 43:35Well, that could be because Thanksgiving is coming up and
- 43:39the price of turkeys is 40% higher.
- 43:42I mean, everything is higher. I I think we talked about my
- 43:44coffee so. Yeah, I think, I think it's
- 43:46interesting, James Carville once said.
- 43:48It's the economy, dummy. Stupid.
- 43:50Yeah, so so when people feel like the economy is good, it
- 43:53doesn't matter what party you're in.
- 43:55No. You're going to be voted in so.
- 43:58But I do want to talk about turkeys since we did mention
- 44:00them and Thanksgiving is coming up, which we will be off next
- 44:03week so that we can spend Thanksgiving our families.
- 44:06Yes, we are. I'm.
- 44:07Not just taking over the podcast and spend a whole hour of
- 44:11ranting. No.
- 44:13I mean that's what you do normally.
- 44:14What are you talking about? Well, next week while while
- 44:19Michelle, while Michelle is off next week, we'll have an entire
- 44:21hour devoted to Mr. Mr. Yeah, that's true.
- 44:25We haven't talked about them yet.
- 44:27Yeah. We'll talk about the greatest
- 44:28band that it that never was. And why am I?
- 44:32You know my my boys. My boys, man, my boys are the
- 44:35best. Right.
- 44:36OK. Well, I want to talk about
- 44:37turkeys, OK, because I have a story.
- 44:41So when my grandma passed away she would always get her ham and
- 44:45turkeys from the local Birch butcher here in town, raise
- 44:49retail meats. Shout out to them they are the
- 44:50best. And so when she passed away, so
- 44:52we would always go to her house for Thanksgiving dinner.
- 44:55When she passed away I took on that responsibility of cooking
- 44:59dinner at our house. First couple years, great
- 45:02learning experience and I'm not a great cook, but I did, I did
- 45:06OK. And so I made sure that I got my
- 45:10Turkey and ham from the same place as my grandma.
- 45:13So my husband went with me one time to pick them up and he did
- 45:18not like the price of them. Well, it's more expensive than
- 45:21getting your Turkey and your ham.
- 45:23Yes, from the grocery store. And I told him, I said, well,
- 45:27there is, there is a difference, the taste difference is there.
- 45:31And he tried to tell me there wasn't.
- 45:33And so Thanksgiving we got them from Ray's Retail Meats.
- 45:38And then at Christmas time I got the Turkey and the ham from the
- 45:41grocery store and cooked it and then asked him which I, no, I
- 45:47don't think I asked him. I think he made the comment that
- 45:51something happened to the Turkey and the ham because it wasn't as
- 45:53good as it usually is. Right, Right.
- 45:56And I said, well, that's because this Turkey and ham is from the
- 46:00grocery store, not the butcher. So what do you think?
- 46:04What? What do you what do you think?
- 46:05And he's like, yeah, you were right.
- 46:08There is a taste difference. The ones from the butcher do
- 46:12taste better. So now when we go pick up our
- 46:15Turkey and ham, he says nothing about the price.
- 46:19And even though it's going to be a little bit more expensive this
- 46:21year, I'm sure he'll say nothing.
- 46:22So yeah. Well, but.
- 46:24That's the learning lesson my husband learned.
- 46:26Well, fresh is better. I mean that that's, yeah.
- 46:29I mean, there's just no doubt, no doubt about that.
- 46:31But I mean, some people just think that isn't true or it's
- 46:35not going to be the case. And it is definitely the case.
- 46:38So yeah. Yeah, I remember my one of my
- 46:42Turkey stories was Cephas's dad. Micah's dad raised turkeys one
- 46:47year. Or raised turkeys.
- 46:49And so I had to do something for the radio station.
- 46:50So I went and saw the turkeys and then and then his dad.
- 46:54Do you want to hang around and watch me kill him?
- 46:56I'm like. No.
- 46:57Right. I'm like, no, I'm sorry.
- 47:00I'd be, I'd be the president and be pardoning the turkeys.
- 47:02That's that would be that would be the Rick Michaels thing to do
- 47:06so. Right.
- 47:07Right, Yeah, I mean, again, I'm a carnivore.
- 47:10I I eat meat, I eat fish, I eat chicken, you know, but I've but
- 47:13I've always said, and Megan and I've joked about this too, when
- 47:16we had our little ranch down there and Prosser our little
- 47:18farm, it's like she kept saying, oh, let's get a cow.
- 47:21And I'm like, well, I'm not going to eat Betsy if Betsy's
- 47:23out in the and then Megan, Megan's joke is always that
- 47:26steak. And I'm like, no, if Betsy out
- 47:30in the if Betsy out in the field, I am not eating Betsy
- 47:33now. I'll eat everybody elses, Betsy.
- 47:35Oh yeah, because you're not attached to their Betsy.
- 47:38I'm not attached to Betsy. I'm not attached to their Betsy.
- 47:40So chop that, chop it up. Now.
- 47:42I'm not coming over to chop up Betsy with you though, but.
- 47:45No. But I I understand that, Yeah.
- 47:48So, yeah. So are you, are you having, are
- 47:50you doing cooking this year? You have the big family coming.
- 47:52What's? That yes, so my daughter in
- 47:54law's family usually comes over. Our oldest son is coming home.
- 47:58He was on defense because of the government shut shutdown because
- 48:01he has to fly home from San Francisco.
- 48:03And so it was well, I don't know if I'm coming home and then now
- 48:07he's coming home. So yay.
- 48:09So yeah, all the kids will be home and he'll get to meet his
- 48:12niece for the first time. So yeah, isn't.
- 48:14That the best. So yeah, it'll be great.
- 48:16I'm super excited. It, it is a lot of work, but
- 48:19it's it's worth it, so. Well, you got to well, you have
- 48:22a great little family and it's the, it's the time of year, I
- 48:25think. We're going to work.
- 48:27Does Megan cook? Oh, it's been years.
- 48:32So her mom called. Her.
- 48:34She heard me. Oh, Oh no.
- 48:37I know. Yeah, it's been a few years.
- 48:41She's going to kick your ass. I know she is going to kick my
- 48:44ass. So we're going to go to Oregon,
- 48:46which is great actually. Actually, I want to say she
- 48:48cooks it with her mother. So they they do a great job.
- 48:51They tag team. That's nice.
- 48:53Yeah, no, I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
- 48:55Yeah. That helps when you have like
- 48:57multiple people. Yeah, her mom, they do.
- 49:00They do a great job. They tag teammate but but in
- 49:03years past we've gone to Cousins restaurant in the dowels and
- 49:06just met there. And had dinner Cousins.
- 49:07Yeah, and done it, done those kind of things.
- 49:10And so, yeah, I mean, it's really varied through the years.
- 49:12Like one year we went to Baker City and had it with my foster
- 49:15sister, which was an amazing, you know, amazing experience.
- 49:19I like, you know, you know, you know, my foster family, they're
- 49:22like even Logan, No, Logan, as cynical as he is, and he is
- 49:27cynical as they come. He and the Foster.
- 49:29Family many years ago, years ago and he goes, no, they are not
- 49:33real people. I'm like they are real people.
- 49:35And he goes no, they're that's Mayberry.
- 49:38And I said I know. Look what you know again.
- 49:40That's where I grew up. Look what the look what the
- 49:42government did to me. I had, I had Mayberry.
- 49:45I had Mayberry. And they just Nope, Nope.
- 49:49You don't get Mayberry, You get, you get Amityville Horror.
- 49:52Yeah. So just think how different I
- 49:56would have been if I would have had Mayberry all the way
- 49:58through. I mean, you wouldn't have had
- 50:00all these traumatizing issues. Would not have.
- 50:03Wouldn't have a podcast, probably wouldn't be on the
- 50:05radio, who knows who. Wouldn't have all these funds
- 50:08things I'd probably. Be some hedge fund manager and
- 50:10rich and scrooged and going to jail for embezzlement or some
- 50:14crazy thing because because I had to reject Mayberry or
- 50:17something. Like that some Bernie Madoff
- 50:18types pyramid team. Some crazy story like that.
- 50:23But yeah, it's going to be a fun trip to Oregon.
- 50:24I I'm going to try to go see Logan, maybe not this weekend,
- 50:28but maybe next weekend and spend a little time with him.
- 50:31He wants to it is kind of fun. I, I didn't realize this.
- 50:34He wants. So he had me on Spotify make a
- 50:37playlist of all my favorite songs.
- 50:39So he wants to go through those songs.
- 50:41So this is going to be. All your favorite songs?
- 50:45Yeah, he wants to hear all yours.
- 50:47Well, I already made it a long time ago and it's called the
- 50:50Dad. It's called the Dad 100.
- 50:53So so he wants to kind of go. He said, hey, he he was like, he
- 50:59goes, yeah, this was his. Idea then yeah, what's his?
- 51:02My kids said that to me. I'd be Oh yeah, we're doing
- 51:05this. No, no and.
- 51:06If it's their idea. I'm excited.
- 51:08I'm excited because The funny thing is he goes dad, you know,
- 51:11there's some bops on your your playlist that I didn't expect to
- 51:14cause them bops. They're bops.
- 51:15And and so one of the songs was Nelson After the Rain.
- 51:19Oh yes. See, that's isn't that Fremo?
- 51:22So it's funny is we we haven't talked a lot about our musical
- 51:26taste, but it's hilarious with my musical taste.
- 51:29As you know, there is definitely a theme and a sound.
- 51:33Of what? Right.
- 51:34So, so, yeah. So, so when you hear what we
- 51:38call Rick Music, you, you know. That they're it's like yacht
- 51:42rock. Well, yeah, I mean, that's
- 51:44what's I guess that's one vein of it, right?
- 51:47That's definitely, that's definitely one.
- 51:49Vein, vein, yeah. Yeah, you know, so, yeah.
- 51:52So I am definitely not not that I don't enjoy.
- 51:55I'm definitely not a headbanger, That's obvious.
- 51:58I'm not a so I. Mean, I love a good rock ballad
- 52:01though because I'm a girl, so. Well, I'm pretty easy because
- 52:05again, I grew up on Top 40. Yes, so.
- 52:08So yeah, so, so right now, like Sabrina Carpenter's awesome.
- 52:12I mean, Lola Young is awesome. I mean, there's a lot of great,
- 52:15you know, Gaga, you name it, Alex, Alex Warren, Ordinary, a
- 52:18lot of great pop right now. That's yeah.
- 52:21So are the pop songs that I loved in the 80s.
- 52:23Nine. I'm a pop guy.
- 52:24So. Yeah.
- 52:25But he was just funny goes oh, there's some there's some bops
- 52:27on there, dad. So we're going to go through and
- 52:29apparently go through and hear some of these songs, but they're
- 52:31songs from like the, the late 70s.
- 52:35I mean, you, you're the same as me.
- 52:36There's, we've been influenced by so many songs that that it's
- 52:40a, it's a fun playlist. So it always makes me feel happy
- 52:44when he doesn't just make fun of.
- 52:46Me right. I mean, he'll throw that in
- 52:48there as you're listening to some of these songs, but.
- 52:50Oh, I'm sure. I'm sure.
- 52:51Well, he's like, yeah, he, he you know, but but you know,
- 52:54there was what is what is on this playlist, Sheriff, when I'm
- 52:57with you. Oh yeah, definitely.
- 53:00Yeah. Rocks.
- 53:01Total, Rick. Yeah, Rock.
- 53:03But but Rick Music, you know what I'm saying?
- 53:04It's. So yes.
- 53:05It's so easy. It's like it's, you know,
- 53:08there's night rain through when you close your eyes, you know,
- 53:11Smoky Mountain rain, Ronnie Millsap.
- 53:12I mean, right. That's that's where I that's
- 53:15where I live. Mine's going to be like Vanilla
- 53:16ice ice ice baby. You know so.
- 53:19Before. We go before we go.
- 53:22OK, number one, Vanilla Ice today got a shitty deal because
- 53:27you got all these tick tokers mouthing stuff and make becoming
- 53:31millionaires off TikTok for lip syncing.
- 53:33Okay, so back in the day, so they were Millie Vanilli was the
- 53:37biggest thing. You know Michelle was the
- 53:39biggest thing on the planet for that brief time that year or
- 53:41two, right? And they were on the record
- 53:44label Arista Records. And I had bought my Millie
- 53:47Vanilli album through Columbia House.
- 53:49Or RCA or What was the Tank? The penny for like 10 CD.
- 53:54So I got a card in the mail after that thing blew up from
- 53:58Arista Records that said, hey, if you want to have a free album
- 54:02on us because of the Milli Vanilli catastrophe.
- 54:06Yeah. So they set a card in the mail
- 54:08and you were able to order another, another album, A free
- 54:11album from Columbia House or because of fraud?
- 54:14Because Nelly frauded everybody. I'm like, holy shit, the whole
- 54:17world's fraud right now. I.
- 54:18Was gonna say everyone lip syncs especially nowadays like I mean
- 54:22or auto tune. I mean back then we didn't have
- 54:24auto tune at least not to the capacity it is now.
- 54:27But but. But, and for me, it's like I I
- 54:30still love that album to this day.
- 54:32And to me, me too, I don't care. I don't care who sang the songs.
- 54:35No, those are jams. Yeah.
- 54:37Yeah, those are, those are jams, part of my childhood.
- 54:39I don't care that they met, you know, And then like, and then
- 54:41again, like you see the day where everybody's famous for
- 54:44being on YouTube. Or I mean, I mean, they're doing
- 54:47people are doing reviews of people's reviews.
- 54:51That is the most bizarre thing. It's almost like, it's almost
- 54:53like us taking our podcast next week and getting on YouTube and
- 54:56critiquing like, OK, So what are they going on?
- 54:58OK, let's stop it here. They're going to say this.
- 55:00Oh God, I don't want to do that. It paints me just to listen back
- 55:04to our podcast when I have to edit it and put in the chapter
- 55:07tile. Yeah.
- 55:09So to me, it's like Milli Vanilli got screwed.
- 55:12It's wrong. They deserve their place in
- 55:15musical history. They earned it.
- 55:18I think that does it for our time.
- 55:20We're coming up on like an hour. So happy.
- 55:24Thanksgiving, we're going to go put on the mill.
- 55:26Vanilli girls know it's. True for the for our road trip
- 55:30driving, anybody who needs to travel, you can listen to Milli
- 55:33Vanilli. Can you before you go?
- 55:35So girl, you know it's true. Blame it on the rain.
- 55:37Yes. I'm going to miss you, girl.
- 55:41Oh yes, I forget about that one. Yeah, I only remember like the.
- 55:45You know my. #2. Maybe, yes, my number, look at
- 55:48you, there was like 5 or 6, you know, all or nothing.
