- 0:22Speaker 3: Oh, who was that?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Oh, was that Ari?
- 0:22Speaker 3: First-timer.
- 0:22Speaker 3: First-timer Sam.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Oh, I'm deaf.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Okay, sorry, I love Sam Lelandowski.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Oh, how do you?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Oh sorry, first timer, first timer, sam.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Hold on Jeff, okay, sorry, I love his full name.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I love his full name.
- 0:29Speaker 3: It's cool.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Okay, sticking with the full name, full names Nathan Sellers, bob Halstead Parker last name, please, dawson.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Thank you, he's cool.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I like just Parker.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Yeah, eventually you get to a point where people only call you by one name, and that's how you know you made it.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It's true, kobe LeBron.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm Jordan.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I don't make a brief side level, is it Mike?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Oh, that's another good one.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That's right, parker, the Beyonce of podcast videos, a podcast video about college.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I was still with that girl.
- 1:04Speaker 1: We got a topic of discussion today.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I'll let you introduce it.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Yeah, so today we're talking about.
- 1:10Speaker 4: You have 60 seconds to make a sales pitch on an activity that you could talk for an hour about and try to convince others that they would listen to you.
- 1:21Speaker 1: An hour.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Is there anything right now that you feel confident that you could talk about for an hour uninterrupted?
- 1:27Speaker 1: No prep either.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I'm just right now at the drop of a hat.
- 1:30Speaker 1: A hundred percent, really, yes, oh, that everybody.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Like 50 percent.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Okay, I'm kind of like that yeah, with preparation, I'm good.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Or someone who's getting bantered back and forth with me, I'm good.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I can't just talk for an hour straight.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just not who I am, parker you said absolutely Well, I mean, y'all know me.
- 1:52Speaker 3: You could just lock me in this room and I could talk forever.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I'd be here forever.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Now maybe y'all know me by the same topic, but I'm still going to be at your topic.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You got one topic, one hour, no prep.
- 2:03Speaker 1: What can you do?
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, easily could.
- 2:05Speaker 3: What Flat fishing.
- 2:06Speaker 5: I was going to say fishing.
- 2:08Speaker 5: I was like, can I?
- 2:08Speaker 5: Yes, but he's going to talk about fishing Flat fishing.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You got 60 seconds to convince us to hear more about your flat fishing.
- 2:18Speaker 3: So set another point on the spot, I should say On my power start.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Three, two, one action.
- 2:25Speaker 3: this spot, I should say um, when my powers are three, two, one action so it's easy, with our daily lives, to begin the work and grind of everything showing up every day.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Nine to five, you're out, living life, going home, family kids bills, family kids bills everything just repeats itself.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Work all the time.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Imagine being able to remove yourself from that.
- 2:45Speaker 3: You're standing in a clean ocean, water, or ocean water, clean river um could be ocean, depending on your choice.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Um, and you're fly fishing, which is a form of fishing that not a lot of people know about, um, or they know, they don't really know how to even get into it.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Uh, I'm sorry, I already said it, um, so the cool thing that I love about fly fishing is everybody's life is so fast-paced and it requires you to slow down.
- 3:08Speaker 3: So, everything from tying your own flies, which is something that I do all the way into getting in the water and actually fishing, it is like my number one way to actually get outside and kind of take a step back.
- 3:20Speaker 3: It's usually by yourself, you're really peaceful, and it's just a way to transform your life while doing an activity that you really enjoy doing.
- 3:30Speaker 4: I'm in.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Hey, that's perfect, tyler, you in, let's do it, I'll pass, okay.
- 3:38Speaker 1: The most important element of our existence is sustainability, and you need that through a series of things.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You need sleep, you need water, you need food, and food is something that I think, in our culture particularly, we don't steward it well.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's for fuel, it's to recharge us and to keep us going.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Now, does that mean that you shouldn't enjoy pizza or a good meal every now and then?
- 4:05Speaker 1: Absolutely not.
- 4:05Speaker 1: What that does mean is we have to do a better job of realizing how the things that we eat affect us, and so I was looking at a study yesterday, and it said how processed foods have caused us to basically hijack our biology, and so you eat food that's high in calorie, not feeling and doesn't contribute to your overall wellness right, rather than eating whole foods that do all of those things and makes you feel better, strengthens you, give you the nutrients, vitamins, like.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Nowadays.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It's said that 50% of people are consuming not real food, so it's the stuff that we eat every single day that doesn't have any nutritional value, and so that's affecting us long term and causing us to not live the quality of life that we should.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So we need some food that is good for us.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You need some soul.
- 4:52Speaker 1: We need some soul food.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So what actually?
- 4:56Speaker 3: I mean I'm out just because you went a minute 15, so it's coming.
- 4:59Speaker 3: That's not at all.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I'm.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Listen.
- 5:02Speaker 3: You gave me a 30 second mark and I'm new internal.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I got time for your three and a half hour podcast.
- 5:05Speaker 3: That's not his home.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Listen, you gave me a 30-second mark and I'm new Internal.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So I ain't got time for your three-and-a-half-hour podcast.
- 5:08Speaker 1: That's not fair.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Fargo's out.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Actually, I'm in.
- 5:11Speaker 1: That was really good.
- 5:17Speaker 4: So I'm in, but I've got a little bit of a food relationship issue anyway.
- 5:20Speaker 4: You guys know I've been trying to lose weight for a while anyway.
- 5:25Speaker 4: My wife's been been losing weight as well and she's actually been on the um majorno kicker, whatever that is oh yeah, and she's talked about how it's completely changed her relationship with food to a point, like you mentioned, where it is more of a, a fuel, instead of just something to stay busy doing.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah, um, yeah, it's not, rather than just being, it's something to to be comfortable with.
- 5:44Speaker 4: So, yeah, to your point, man, food has changed a lot of people's lives, and the over-processing and everything is taking it a little too far.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm in.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I got to.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I'm in, because it's one of those things where you can't live without it, right?
- 6:01Speaker 3: Yeah, sam and I were just talking about this yesterday, about all these different strategies and, uh suggestions on what you should eat, how you should eat all that stuff.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I mean it's overwhelming.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But, um, I think you're gonna have people on both sides that they don't want to have.
- 6:17Speaker 3: They don't want to be influenced by somebody else's opinion, right?
- 6:21Speaker 3: But then again, me being an open book, I like to have a general perspective.
- 6:28Speaker 3: You know, take in everything and then make a decision for myself what would be the best plan of action, I guess.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Now keep in mind for Nate's birthday we bought him like a 200,000 calorie set of food for brain, if you first like I don't know if he got like before he could.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Really Well, he started giving it out to people.
- 6:50Speaker 3: No, 90% of that's already produced.
- 6:52Speaker 3: It was used in the way it's supposed to be.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I was just like, oh yeah, I'm going to snack on this.
- 6:58Speaker 3: It was probably like two pounds of food.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Yeah, very calorie dense, high carb, high sugar.
- 7:05Speaker 3: But when you're just burning through calories, cycling, running and all that stuff you need it.
- 7:13Speaker 3: But there is an importance on having good quality.
- 7:21Speaker 3: It's not just about, yeah, you need the higher view stuff.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I mean good quality makes a ton of it.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I'm'm gonna say this and kind of freak us out real quick, and then I'm past this and they.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But I, I just been doing some research on this and in the 1980s the cigarette companies were seeing a decline due to having to put, like, the surgical warnings and all the information out there.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So people knew what surgery, general warnings and all the information out there.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So people knew what they were consuming.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And so the scientists that worked with cigarette companies to make those addictive started going to the food companies to make our food more addictive.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And still to this day, one of the highest employers of scientists are food companies.
- 7:58Speaker 1: It's just like, strategically, you know and again, I'm not I think people should enjoy good mood, I mean food.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I'm not saying that, but I am saying we just we really got to be conscious and mindful, because right now it's just like we're test subjects you know what I mean like they.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I feel like I'm sounding real conspiracy right now because I will get tinfoil let me put a pen right there.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I'm going to stop there and pass it to Nate.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Wait, sam, are you in or out on his?
- 8:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sorry.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Oh, I'm in, I'm in.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Four for four baby, four for four, what'd?
- 8:31Speaker 5: You get Three for four.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Show me some love.
- 8:34Speaker 5: He had a good pitch, though I just fly fishing.
- 8:37Speaker 5: I'm delusional.
- 8:38Speaker 3: I understand that, but you had a three out of four.
- 8:41Speaker 5: You were over 15 seconds to date off.
- 8:45Speaker 1: So technically, if somebody gets four for four and stays within the time, then that's the chip.
- 8:55Speaker 5: He didn't make it seem like it was 15 over, though, so I think, Fair, we'll have to replay it.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Whatever?
- 9:07Speaker 3: So imagine you're going someplace you've never been before, on a medium that is solely powered by yourself, and you can either do it with a bunch of your friends or you can do it by yourself, and each time you get on this medium it's a new challenge.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Every time you can go from your neighborhood down the street or you can go to a completely new country.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I've never been out of the country, so this is just opportunities everywhere.
- 9:37Speaker 3: So there's the biggest well, in this specific sport, there's the biggest thing going on in the world right now.
- 9:58Speaker 3: And if you're a young kid, you, if you have this dream, you know the biker on the world to do our things, like everybody can do our things, right, but you watch these people do what they do and you're like, yeah, I want to do that, but you can.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Also, you don't have to do these hard things like you can just go out every day.
- 10:08Speaker 3: So imagine seeing what cycling is all about, right, I mean, that's just a little bit of what's about career, like tour de france yeah, just don't stop and kiss your wife on the way.
- 10:21Speaker 4: All right controversy, what wait, I'm missing it.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Bike rider was on one of the legs and pulled over and stopped to thank his friends for coming out, kissed his wife and they fined him for interrupting the race.
- 10:33Speaker 4: No way, it really only counted against him, right?
- 10:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know, Now, on the flip side of that, he just finished the arkansas grappler right.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Yeah, utter miles is that right.
- 10:48Speaker 4: No of all than that right that one is a believe, across the state, yeah, across the state roads well, I love to do all that stuff.
- 10:56Speaker 3: but for me, you know, I'm mainly a soloist soloist.
- 11:01Speaker 3: So I kind of go out and do it, do on my own.
- 11:03Speaker 3: But that doesn't mean I'm opposed to doing something like that.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Like I said, hard challenges, doing hard stuff.
- 11:08Speaker 3: But that requires a lot of planning and for me, there's part of me that can be like, yeah, I can go out there this weekend and do it myself.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Probably I could.
- 11:18Speaker 3: But Me, I like to plan things out, I like to have a strategy.
- 11:23Speaker 3: There's a little bit of that that goes into it.
- 11:26Speaker 3: For sure, what's the longest you've ever?
- 11:27Speaker 1: ridden.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I've done many 100-mile rides.
- 11:32Speaker 3: No way In one go.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that's a staple, you've got to do it.
- 11:37Speaker 3: So, okay, let me draw a line a little bit.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Not everybody has to do it, not everybody wants to do it, not everybody has to do it, not, not everybody wants to do it.
- 11:48Speaker 3: But if you, if you're committed to spending the money, you know, like cycling is a very expensive sport, but if you're committed to doing it, like myself, I've kind of made my I don't know what you would say, but lifestyle, yeah, yeah, you know, I made it a big part of my lifestyle.
- 12:01Speaker 3: You know, it's one of those things.
- 12:02Speaker 3: It's like a rite of passage and it goes back to what I was saying.
- 12:06Speaker 3: You could do it with your friends and family and it's a lot more fun.
- 12:08Speaker 3: You don't have to do it by yourself.
- 12:10Speaker 3: But I have done it.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Can you guess?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:15Speaker 1: You've ridden 100 miles multiple times, oh yeah.
- 12:18Speaker 5: You prefer to do that by yourself.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Well, it's a lot more fun when you suffer with people.
- 12:22Speaker 5: You know, yeah, fuck, are we in?
- 12:25Speaker 5: That's a different person, oh I love biking.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I'm doing enough and I love biking.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Do we have a heard your miles on this?
- 12:30Speaker 1: I mean not on my current mountain bike.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I could probably knock out.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I feel like I'm not going to knock out 40 or 50 on it.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Okay, I did 12 the other day or something like that.
- 12:39Speaker 3: It was still are bad.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So how realistic is doing a podcast while mountain biking or not mountain biking cardiovascular level I would so, okay, there's actually it's been done, not mouth biking, but it's been done on the road before.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so I wouldn't mind bringing that I like that oh, we got a session.
- 12:56Speaker 3: We have segment for me.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I just want to see that hair flying in the wind as well.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I'm gonna see.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Well, it's underneath the helmet, so it's still to the top of bio.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I've noticed it kind of doing its little thing.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I might need that wrap because I need to is what I want to see.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Well, it's underneath the helmet, but it's still to the top of the bottle Really For long periods.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I noticed it kind of doing its little thing.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I might need that wrap just because I need to see her head A beam of light just flowing.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Podcast parking need a support vehicle.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been saying Can we get a climb out?
- 13:17Speaker 3: We can, to get him a riding kit.
- 13:21Speaker 3: That's like the podcast videos.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Then we'll just follow Nate around town.
- 13:25Speaker 5: We're going to be like Give him a little like he can interview people.
- 13:30Speaker 3: And then when you're tracking me wherever I go, it's the little microphone on the road.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I'm here for it.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Am I in, I'm probably out, but I just take this to the full capacity.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I'm in, you're in.
- 13:43Speaker 4: So I'm in, you're in.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm in.
- 13:45Speaker 4: You guys may not know this.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I used to ride.
- 13:50Speaker 3: So you know back before.
- 13:51Speaker 4: it was cool, but I've done a hundred mile ride myself.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Bob's also like a very accomplished skateboarder.
- 13:57Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Bob, you skateboard, you ride.
- 13:59Speaker 1: He keep flipping on the back of that.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Anything to get outside man.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Anything that gets me out of the house.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Have you liked your pitch yet, bob?
- 14:09Speaker 3: I have not.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Sam and Bob, we'll save the new one for last, so it's more difficult.
- 14:16Speaker 4: So my pitch Alright, go.
- 14:20Speaker 4: So getting outdoors is my thing.
- 14:23Speaker 4: I love the solitude of being in the mountains, um in the woods, whether it's with people, without people.
- 14:33Speaker 4: As an introvert, I could do it by myself, even with people, I don't have to talk the whole time um the long distance hiking um, I'm not accomplished through hiker yet I I've done multiple 30, 40 plus mile hikes, things like that, carrying everything you need for four or five days and just getting out there completely disconnecting and reconnecting with Mother Earth.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Man, that's kind of my jam.
- 14:58Speaker 4: So you said 18 seconds.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 15:01Speaker 3: So yeah, you still got 18 seconds.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Yeah, okay.
- 15:03Speaker 4: So, yeah, imagine taking everything you need with you and just being away from society for a week, self-reliant, Self-reliant.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Got your food with you, you're getting water out of the streams, cleaning it, building fires if you need them, just whatever you need to survive.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Yes, I got goosebumps, I'm in.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I got goosebumps, I'm in.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I'm here, sam's out.
- 15:29Speaker 5: If you get past the 30-40 miles that I'm in.
- 15:31Speaker 5: I like the society, it's the distance.
- 15:36Speaker 3: You find you a nice stream or somewhere to camp up.
- 15:38Speaker 3: You got some probably freeze-dried meal in your pack.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Or a little collapsible pole.
- 15:43Speaker 4: You can fish there.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Y'all got boxes together Fish it for fish.
- 15:46Speaker 3: That's why I say it's a desert.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah, they're even rafting.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Look at a raft.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Stop, catch you some fish, stop at the campground.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Fish Eat, eat, eat off the land.
- 15:55Speaker 5: Wait, they're all working together.
- 15:58Speaker 3: All in that, you're getting water.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I've done hikes.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I'm sure you have come across like a spring Water straight from it.
- 16:03Speaker 3: It's cold, clean.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Just filter it down real quick.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I did.
- 16:07Speaker 3: It was some really dirty water.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah, like where you go through your filter and you're like, yeah, where it's still bad and it doesn't taste the best.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you drink it even after it come out.
- 16:17Speaker 4: You got a choice Wow, Five miles in the Superstition Mountains out in Arizona and you take whatever one you can come across.
- 16:25Speaker 1: But no but.
- 16:27Speaker 5: What's your dream spot to like go hiking.
- 16:30Speaker 4: The John Muir Trail.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Ooh, where's that?
- 16:33Speaker 4: at.
- 16:33Speaker 4: So it starts in Yosemite and runs to the Sierra Nevada.
- 16:36Speaker 4: How far it's?
- 16:39Speaker 4: About 211, 215 miles.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I thought you were going to PCT it, maybe I don't, so what's that?
- 16:43Speaker 3: Pacific Crest Trail runs from the Mexican border to the Canadian border.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Look at you with abbreviations that we don't understand.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's about 2,500, 3,000 miles, something like that LOL.
- 16:53Speaker 3: SMH.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, people will spend, like the whole they'll take a year off.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Y'all wait.
- 17:00Speaker 1: What did we say?
- 17:01Speaker 1: What did we say right?
- 17:01Speaker 3: now you start at the border of Mexico with a backpack on.
- 17:04Speaker 3: It's got like some cooking stuff, some food here and there, but you have to plan these things out.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Well, it's a fine level on hike, yeah, and people really do this.
- 17:13Speaker 5: Yeah, all the time.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Thousands of people All their feet, yeah, through a town and you might spend one or two days in town getting more supplies, getting a shower, and then you're back on the trail.
- 17:24Speaker 5: There's people that sell it.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and you'll stop and camp and they'll be like you could run into four of us just all doing the same thing.
- 17:30Speaker 3: You might hike with them for the next 50 miles.
- 17:32Speaker 4: So there's actually a girl from Northwest Arkansas named Kelly Hayes.
- 17:35Speaker 4: I mean find her online.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Kelly Hayes Hikes.
- 17:38Speaker 4: She's doing the Continental Divide Trail, which is one of the longest through hiking trails in the United States right now.
- 17:44Speaker 4: That goes from Canada down to Mexico.
- 17:48Speaker 1: She's from NWA.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yeah, through Colorado, right yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 3: What's her name?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Kelly Hayes.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Kelly Hayes, we're going to shout you out right now because you are a different breed in a good way.
- 18:01Speaker 4: She just started the CDT like a week ago.
- 18:05Speaker 4: She's going north to south.
- 18:06Speaker 4: She's going south, North to south.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Yeah, South oh.
- 18:11Speaker 3: I definitely want to start south.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Because I want to get prettier as I go, but it also gets more difficult because you're getting elevation.
- 18:16Speaker 3: She really out here.
- 18:19Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 18:20Speaker 1: All right, I'm sorry.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I got distracted People really doing this.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I've only done like three or four days before what you said.
- 18:28Speaker 3: That's the most fun I've ever had.
- 18:32Speaker 4: I want to hit 100 miles in the next year too.
- 18:34Speaker 4: I just have to find time to take that amount of time off work.
- 18:38Speaker 1: How long will that take you, if you're just casually doing it?
- 18:41Speaker 4: Probably seven, eight days.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Does your wife do that?
- 18:42Speaker 4: Take you?
- 18:42Speaker 4: If you're just casually doing it, are you not Probably seven, eight days?
- 18:44Speaker 5: Does your wife do it with you?
- 18:46Speaker 4: No, if it's not, if there's not a book in her hands, I just have to be on it.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Are you a tent or hammock guy?
- 18:52Speaker 3: I'm a tent guy.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I tried the hammock thing.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I sleep on my stomach so that really doesn't work out very well.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a little problem Also with it.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Also, when you're going through the desert it's a little hard to find a few things that went too.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Oh man, it's hard to hang from a cactus.
- 19:11Speaker 3: It's true that was a very spot convert right there.
- 19:14Speaker 1: That was a very spot, convert.
- 19:15Speaker 3: You're going through the desert.
- 19:16Speaker 3: It's a little hard to hang from a cactus.
- 19:18Speaker 3: All right, sam, I'm in, I'm 100% in In.
- 19:24Speaker 3: No, okay, let's toss it.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Guys, this is going to be so radically different from everything.
- 19:30Speaker 5: That's all right, we're in for the.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Do you just want to jump in or do you want to give you a?
- 19:35Speaker 4: topic.
- 19:36Speaker 1: You got 60 seconds.
- 19:37Speaker 3: You can't talk about podcasting, sorry.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Okay, let's wait until that hits 30 and then you can check it yourself.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Four messages was dressed.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Samantha louis, all right.
- 19:49Speaker 5: So imagine the opportunities that you have with an entire group of people that are crazy about a certain book series, whatever it be.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Right, we're talking literature.
- 20:00Speaker 5: So fiction books, right?
- 20:01Speaker 5: You think?
- 20:02Speaker 5: Lord of the rings, hunger games, divergent, the hobbit, whatever.
- 20:05Speaker 5: You have this entire fan base that is crazy about something.
- 20:09Speaker 5: And a movie studio comes in and they're like, oh my gosh, let's make it into a movie, we'll capitalize on all this investment, and they absolutely destroy it and they do such a bad job, right, they're killing studios, are killing the opportunities with book to movie adaptations because they're just like, absolutely missing the point.
- 20:27Speaker 5: They're these executives that are like, oh money, we'll just put it on the screen, we'll throw a big name actor on it, it'll be great, it'll make all this money and the fans aren't wanting that, right?
- 20:35Speaker 5: So there's such a missed opportunity.
- 20:37Speaker 5: All you have to do is do the exact same thing that's in the book and put it on the screen.
- 20:42Speaker 5: Now, I get it, I get it right.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Like you got to cut down time.
- 20:45Speaker 5: You can't include everything.
- 20:46Speaker 5: That's where you bring the fans in.
- 20:49Speaker 5: You say, hey, what's important, what's like what's fundamental to this book that's going to make this movie successful.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Right, we don't need that scene, but this scene might seem insignificant and that's what everybody loves, and so for that reason I'm like you have to have, you have to have a cohesive, all-inclusive somewhat fan-led script yeah, yeah, and I think that there's a totally missed opportunity with that shout out season nine game of thrones, which was absolute garbage about.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Great at the book is book wasn't to that point yet, so I will defend them on that.
- 21:24Speaker 3: They try to make it up as they go, but that sucked.
- 21:27Speaker 5: But when?
- 21:28Speaker 3: you don't have the, you know?
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I need to know how Arya killed the Nike, not just like oh, she sees him in a garb and now we're celebrating that she beat him.
- 21:36Speaker 3: That's like what, not, Bro?
- 21:38Speaker 5: how did she start?
- 21:39Speaker 5: Terrible.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I sat through a 30-minute rant from my brother talking about this same exact thing and Game of Thrones specifically, which I'm never saying Game of Thrones is great until they ran out of books to continue writing.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Once they stopped having a story to follow, they're just kind of like oh, let's do this, but they're missing the point.
- 21:58Speaker 5: They're missing what makes people love it.
- 22:00Speaker 5: They're not on target.
- 22:02Speaker 3: I would rather wait until the next book comes out to watch seasons eight and nine of mid rooms.
- 22:06Speaker 3: So that would you make something up, just for time sake, sam, where did this passion come from, because that was that was big bro.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Like um sam, you get the conviction award.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Where am I going to talk about?
- 22:16Speaker 5: that for a while yeah, like for hours, man, oh man.
- 22:21Speaker 5: I grew up reading that's where my love stories came from is reading books and I'd get so mad Like the Percy Jackson.
- 22:27Speaker 5: This is going to show my age, but the Percy Jackson movies were trash and 11-year-old me was like what is going on?
- 22:34Speaker 3: So is that your number one disappointment when you would go from book to film?
- 22:37Speaker 3: Yeah, your top three disappointments from book Default.
- 22:41Speaker 3: What would they be?
- 22:41Speaker 3: I mean, this is Percy Jackson.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Percy Jackson.
- 22:44Speaker 5: Oh man, I don't know, maybe a little too deep.
- 22:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I remember being really disappointed with the Divergent series, which is like I don't think it's a great series to begin with, but that was pretty bad.
- 22:56Speaker 5: A recent one is I.
- 22:57Speaker 5: There's this damsel on Netflix.
- 23:00Speaker 5: It's a movie with millie bobby brown, but they wrote a book based on the screenplay and so I read the book before the movie came out and I was like it's a decent book, but I could see where this would be really good series and I thought it was a movie and it's really trash.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Sorry, I love millie bobby brown, but so I mean, that's a.
- 23:17Speaker 4: That's a common thread, though, between people who read a lot is the they always say the books are always better.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Um, so yeah, that transition is still lacking yeah, they haven't figured it out yet, that's why I gave up on reading.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't want to ruin the movies, said it the opposite man.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I grew up in all sports and like all that kind of stuff and so reading I did never do it, like I just never read.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's like out of school I don't really need to read.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Now that I stumbled through my words, it's recently from the middle.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I love reading up there like probably, I don't know five or six years ago, really kind of got into it and like I'm kind of that way now where it's like I got most recent.
- 24:03Speaker 3: One of the most recent books I read was, uh, masters of the year, which was in making to apple series about world war ii bombers, and I never watched the series.
- 24:11Speaker 3: They wrote it off of the book, which is nice, but I never watched the series because, like I've read the book, I know it's going to be way more in detail than anything that the series can ever bring out, or so I just didn't read it or didn't watch it.
- 24:21Speaker 3: So yeah, I love reading.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Now it's got to be something topical, right.
- 24:26Speaker 4: But I love reading.
- 24:27Speaker 3: So Right, I'm in, everybody in.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's interesting, I'd be in all that.
- 24:34Speaker 4: I didn't know if you were going to go down the road of like a Renaissance fair.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know we were.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I don't know if we were going to do a Lark or something.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I imagine being in a park and falling to the ground, you see a palm sword as you charge and you turn it on.
- 24:46Speaker 3: I was like how about that?
- 24:48Speaker 5: I've never heard of Dungeons and Dragons.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I was so funny because Jeremiah was talking about food and all of a sudden I'm getting hungry over here and Parker's talking about being in a river and Boss talking about being outside.
- 25:04Speaker 5: I'm like I can't wait to run my back corner office now.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Don't you just sit in a dark room and watch a TV screen for a few?
- 25:08Speaker 3: hours.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I was saying she's like I can go in the back room and read a book.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah right, but everybody else's was like being outdoors.
- 25:15Speaker 3: So, oh, what's up?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Legend.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Boys and girls, we have a special guest on today's podcast.
- 25:22Speaker 1: His name is Eric Howardson Howie.
- 25:25Speaker 1: First of his name.
- 25:27Speaker 1: See, we're finishing up.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Why are you good?
- 25:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you came at the perfect time, though this topic today was, you got 60 seconds to pitch a topic that you can speak an hour on no preparation.
- 25:43Speaker 1: You have to consent, so I still want to listen to it, though.

- 26:41Speaker 2: Sell for e-commerce cool and all that kind of stuff, and so just learned a lot of different stuff about that.
- 26:44Speaker 5: Sellers, selling- yeah, I was wanting to listen to you talk about it for an hour.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I started, founded a digital content agency and built it up and sold it in about a decade and worked with some of the largest brands and the largest retailers in the world.
- 27:02Speaker 3: You with yeah me and be home, man.
- 27:03Speaker 3: There's a lot of content I can draw from that.

- 27:08Speaker 1: Like that language, bob, you in.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I've seen what Eric's done over the years, especially with the people that he's worked with, and especially, as technology has changed over those years, staying on the forefront of it and being able to leverage it faster than some of the older companies can.
- 27:24Speaker 4: They're pretty impressive.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Thanks, bob, see, he does much better than what he said, I'm in, but we're doing it with podcast videos faster than 10 years.
