Transcript
- 0:00Welcome back to Fostering Faith. And you guys
- 0:02know that I could not let this Easter season
- 0:04go without just maybe doing a special episode.
- 0:08And the reason we're here, the cross, the tomb,
- 0:11and the risen king. And if you are a Christian,
- 0:15we are really excited about Easter because without
- 0:18Easter, we would not be Christians. We would
- 0:21just be people following another guy who died.
- 0:25but we have the risen king and there are moments
- 0:28in history that change everything wars ended
- 0:31nations forming discoveries being made but none
- 0:34of them not a single one of them compares to
- 0:36what happened on easter because easter is not
- 0:39just a holiday easter is just is not just a date
- 0:42on the calendar easter is the day the story changed
- 0:45for the entire world easter is the moment heaven
- 0:48erupted hell and easter is the moment that death
- 0:52lost its claim. Easter is the moment that God
- 0:55rewrote human history with three simple words.
- 1:00He is risen. And this is why This is the why
- 1:05behind every sermon behind every preacher. This
- 1:07is the why behind every prayer that's ever been
- 1:09prayed This is the reason why we have baptism
- 1:12This is the reasons why we have worship songs
- 1:14the reason why we have Bible stories the why
- 1:17the reason why we have Transformed lies without
- 1:20that resurrection. We would have nothing and
- 1:23because of the resurrection we have everything
- 1:27the entire gospel the whole thing hangs on this
- 1:31moment and paul said plainly in first corinthians
- 1:3315 if christ had not been risen our faith would
- 1:38be useless not weak not incomplete but useless
- 1:42but he was raised and because of that our story
- 1:48is not over our sins are not counted against
- 1:52us. Our past is not our identity. Our future
- 1:55is not hopeless. Our chains are not final. Our
- 1:58death is not the end. Our life is not meaningless.
- 2:02Easter changes everything. The cross written
- 2:06a love story in blood. And so let's start with
- 2:10the cross. The greatest act of love. coincided
- 2:14with the greatest display of injustice. Jesus
- 2:16didn't die because he was overpowered. He died
- 2:19because he was obedient. He didn't die because
- 2:22Romans took him. He died because he was willing
- 2:25to give himself. He didn't die because he was
- 2:28a victim. He died because he is our savior. And
- 2:32Isaiah 53 says that he was pierced for our transgressions,
- 2:36not his, ours. Every nail was for us. Every stripe
- 2:43was for us. Every insult was for us. Every drop
- 2:48of blood was for us. It wasn't random. It wasn't
- 2:52accidental. It wasn't a tragedy. This was a rescue
- 2:57when God says it is finished. He wasn't declaring
- 3:02defeat. He was announcing victory. Sin's power
- 3:07finished. Hell's claim finished. Death's sting
- 3:11finished. The enemy's authority finished. Your
- 3:14guilt finished. Your shame finished. The cross
- 3:17was the end. And it was the beginning of the
- 3:19end for everything that you held in captive.
- 3:23But the cross alone wasn't enough. If the story
- 3:26ended on Friday, we wouldn't be here. If this
- 3:29tomb stayed sealed, Christianity would be a memory.
- 3:33If Jesus stayed dead, He would be another historical
- 3:37figure but the tomb where death lost its power
- 3:42and so let's go to the tomb silent cold guarded
- 3:47and sealed Hell celebrated that night. The enemy
- 3:52thought he had won Death thought he had the final
- 3:55word But early Sunday morning before the Sun
- 3:59rose before anyone else was awake before the
- 4:03world realized what had happened Heaven was moving.
- 4:07The angel rolled away the stone, not to let Jesus
- 4:10out, but to let the witnesses in. Jesus didn't
- 4:14let the stone be removed, he was already gone.
- 4:19And when Mary ran to the disciples and said,
- 4:21he's not there, he's risen, everything shifted.
- 4:25Every prophecy fulfilled, every promise validated,
- 4:29every chain broken, every demon defeated, every
- 4:33believer empowered, and every knee to bow. And
- 4:38the world has never been the same. The resurrection
- 4:43is not a metaphor. It's not symbolic. It's not
- 4:46spiritual language. It is a historical fact,
- 4:49recorded, witnessed, and documented, even confirmed
- 4:52by those who wanted to deny it, over 500 witnesses,
- 4:57transformed disciples, a movement that exploded
- 4:59out of fear into boldness. Why? Because you don't
- 5:03give your life for a lie. People don't die for
- 5:07a story they made up. They die for what they
- 5:09saw, and they saw a risen king. In the risen
- 5:14king, why we live different. Tell me something,
- 5:18the resurrection isn't just a reason we believe,
- 5:21it's a reason we live. Because of Easter, we
- 5:26are forgiven. We are free. We are loved, redeemed,
- 5:31restored, made new, called, chosen, alive in
- 5:35Christ, not who you used to be. We have a future,
- 5:39we have a hope, we have an authority, and we
- 5:42have victory. Resurrection power didn't stay
- 5:44in the tomb. It stepped into us in a Romans 8
- 5:4811 says the same spirit that raised Jesus from
- 5:50the dead lives in you, not a lesser spirit, not
- 5:56a diluted version. Not a Holy Spirit light, the
- 6:00same spirit that means you can overcome. You
- 6:04can break addictions. You can walk in purpose.
- 6:06You can forgive the unforgivable and you can
- 6:09heal from the impossible. You can live with confidence
- 6:12and you can face the storms unshaken. You can
- 6:15raise against your failures and you can walk
- 6:17in identity because resurrection power is not
- 6:19about you. It's in you. And Easter is an invitation.
- 6:25Easter is not a behavior modification. It's not
- 6:29about being a better person. It's not about religion.
- 6:33Easter is about a resuscitation. a resurrection.
- 6:39Dead things come alive again. Easter invites
- 6:41you to lay down your shame, lay down your labels,
- 6:44lay down your sin, lay down your guilt, your
- 6:47regret, your fear, your striving, your fake strength,
- 6:50your old identity and pick up forgiveness and
- 6:54grace and identity, peace and purpose, newness,
- 6:57power and eternal life and hope. Easter is the
- 7:00day the gospel became personal. In a moment,
- 7:06We have an invitation if you have never surrendered
- 7:09your life to Jesus or if you feel far from him
- 7:12Or if you feel like you're carrying shame or
- 7:14if you're carrying doubt Doubting that you're
- 7:17worthy if you feel like you are spiritually numb
- 7:20Take this moment Easter is for you And just pray
- 7:25with me Jesus Thank you for this cross Thank

- 7:56honestly believe that god sent his son to die
- 7:59for our sins and he is the lord of your life
- 8:03Heaven just shifted for you. And we hope that
- 8:08this message encouraged you as you start your
- 8:10Easter Sunday. And we are just so excited to
- 8:14go and worship publicly and just renounce and
- 8:17worship that the King is risen, that we have
- 8:21Easter, that we have a reason to be so excited,
- 8:24that we get to live for eternity, that we are
- 8:26just here for a vapor of time, that we are children
- 8:29of God and our King is alive. And so we hope
- 8:33that this message encouraged you. Maybe this
- 8:35is the first time that you heard an Easter story.
- 8:38Turn into the Gospels. Turn into scripture. That
- 8:40is what that love story is about. And it is for
