On her 63rd birthday, Kathleen Wilson stunned the world by completing a 22.4-mile marathon swim across the Cozumel Channel—battling cruise ship wakes, rotting Sargassum, and relentless currents. A veteran of over 30 long-distance swims since 1997, including the English Channel and Strait of Öresund, she’s traveled to 13 countries by water. Training since November 2025, she’s not just chasing records—she’s living her passion, teaching swim lessons, playing music, and serving on city council. “My happiest place is in the water,” she says—and with that, she’s just getting started.
