- 1:38Speaker 3: This is a podcast call twenty five Wists, Stocking fun
- 1:42Speaker 3: follow and they aware whizz So yeah it's too bad,
- 1:46Speaker 3: but what.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Did you expect?
- 1:48Speaker 2: It's a podcast call.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Twenty five Whistles, twenty line.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Blow the West Wedding, Thank you, Welcome to twenty five Whistles.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I hadn't think Tom Brady was all that bad yesterday.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Big improvement, Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Big improvement.
- 2:01Speaker 3: The voice got deeper too.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I think it took a lot of notes. I think
- 2:04Speaker 1: they're probably got the week one. Yeah, week two, I
- 2:09Speaker 1: didn't notice him a lot of the time, which means
- 2:12Speaker 1: he's doing his job. Sometimes he came off as a
- 2:15Speaker 1: little cheesy, like a little over the top, but he's
- 2:19Speaker 1: such significant improvement from week one to week two, he's
- 2:21Speaker 1: going to be just fine. And he was just talking
- 2:23Speaker 1: about sports. And by the way, it was a hard
- 2:25Speaker 1: game to do because it's Saints beat the crap out
- 2:26Speaker 1: of them.
- 2:26Speaker 3: What are you going to talk about after the first
- 2:28Speaker 3: two first half?
- 2:30Speaker 1: I mean, I only did Division two play by play
- 2:34Speaker 1: and then I have to play by play and color
- 2:36Speaker 1: on the road because they wouldn't pay for two people,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and it was impossible. When the game is a blowout,
- 2:40Speaker 1: there's nothing to talk about. So the fact that Brady,
- 2:43Speaker 1: you did a fairly good job week one to week two,
- 2:46Speaker 1: huge significant improvement.
- 2:49Speaker 3: So I like that.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And they put some in his voice.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I think he puts some.
- 2:56Speaker 6: Yeah, he probably listened back to like, do I really
- 2:57Speaker 6: sound like that? It's confidence, you can here's confidence too.
- 3:01Speaker 1: That's my first note. Second note is I bet a
- 3:03Speaker 1: lot of money on the Cowboys and they and I
- 3:06Speaker 1: and I found a way to bet them. I bet
- 3:07Speaker 1: money line. I had a bad betting weekend in general,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but I bet Cowboys money line and ceedee lamb over
- 3:12Speaker 1: seventy yards because that kind of got me back to
- 3:14Speaker 1: where what the points were giving me. You parlayed that, yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 1: and so ceed you hit it. The Cowboys just got
- 3:19Speaker 1: run like the Saints may be good.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it. I think the Saints are good.
- 3:25Speaker 1: The Saints they had scored. I'm not sure how the
- 3:27Speaker 1: game ended because I turned it off, but they were
- 3:29Speaker 1: like fifteen for fifteen on drives of the whole year, like.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You know, how the game started, that's how it ended.
- 3:35Speaker 3: They never stopped.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Did they score every time they had the ball?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah? I think they only had one field goal and
- 3:39Speaker 3: that was like just a short one at the end
- 3:41Speaker 3: of the game.
- 3:41Speaker 1: If so, possibly a record.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Maybe two punts.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Well that's no, no, that's the point.
- 3:46Speaker 3: No, no, no, they punted the ball. I think I
- 3:48Speaker 3: think we stopped it maybe twice the whole game.
- 3:50Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. That was they had gone fourteen
- 3:52Speaker 1: or fifteen possessions in a row, scoring every single time.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And it almost doesn't matter who it is in the NFL.
- 3:57Speaker 1: If you're doing that, that's significant offensive coordinator Derek car
- 4:01Speaker 1: looks good.
- 4:01Speaker 6: Camara, Camara touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchstone, touchdown interception.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Punt interception though got him field goal.
- 4:11Speaker 5: So that's the one punt and one interception.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Well what we.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Should do then, because we have Matt Castle coming up?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Who Matt Castle? Who was awesome? Yeah, I mean just
- 4:24Speaker 1: came in and just I didn't know what to do,
- 4:26Speaker 1: was going to be like, but just came in and
- 4:28Speaker 1: just kicked it right in the nuts. Hilarious, lit it
- 4:30Speaker 1: up like energy stories. Uh you a Castle guy?
- 4:35Speaker 6: Yeah, of course I have, Yeah, a soft spot, deep
- 4:39Speaker 6: spot in my heart for him, of course, for infinity.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Yeah, infinity is that the right word if you like it?
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:43Speaker 6: Yeah, because oh wait, I mean he came in and
- 4:45Speaker 6: did pretty much under.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Touch of the playoffs.
- 4:47Speaker 5: Yeah no, actually we missed it.
- 4:49Speaker 6: We were eleven and five, but barely missed the Dolphin
- 4:51Speaker 6: that year, the one year we missed and we still
- 4:53Speaker 6: went eleven and five with him and like to replace
- 4:55Speaker 6: Tom Brady like that, that's huge?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Well week did he go down? That was Week one?
- 5:00Speaker 1: That was almost Rodgers esque.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Okay, So what we're gonna do is, why don't we
- 5:05Speaker 1: just get all our personal thoughts, grievances or enjoyments out
- 5:10Speaker 1: of the way. Love it because we all kind of have.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Except for read, we didn't really watch sports.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I don't have one.
- 5:15Speaker 1: No, I did nothing. All right, buddy, good talk to
- 5:18Speaker 1: you though.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I would read right now, you don't watch nothing.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Let us just go, Eddie, you're over there, your face
- 5:25Speaker 1: is red. Go ahead.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I'm just done. I'm done, man, You're done with what.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'm done done with You're not done with anything.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I'm done. Okay, I'm done. I'm done going into every
- 5:33Speaker 3: season thinking that we're gonna win the Super Bowl. Like,
- 5:35Speaker 3: I'm just done with that. So I'm I love the Cowboys.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I will always love the Cowboys till the day I die.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I'm a Cowboys fan. But I will no longer jump
- 5:44Speaker 3: into the season thinking that we have a chance to
- 5:45Speaker 3: win the Super Bowl.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think that that's an accurate description
- 5:50Speaker 1: of what your attitude is going to be for now on.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I don't think one loss in Week two changes Why not?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Why would you not have changed it already through the
- 5:58Speaker 1: disastrous last few years you've.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Had Because we should have won the We should have
- 6:02Speaker 3: won yesterday. No, you shouldn't. We should have. We should have.
- 6:05Speaker 1: They're really there was never and I say to someone
- 6:08Speaker 1: who lost like two thousand dollars on that one game,
- 6:11Speaker 1: there was never a time where I thought the Cowboys
- 6:13Speaker 1: were going to win the game after their second drive.
- 6:19Speaker 3: No, no, I get it. After the game start. I found
- 6:22Speaker 3: out real quick after the first touchdown, which was in
- 6:24Speaker 3: the first like minute of the game. After that, I realized, Okay,
- 6:27Speaker 3: we may not win this game. However, we should have
- 6:29Speaker 3: won that game going into the weekend. Going into the weekend,
- 6:33Speaker 3: Vegas had us what second?
- 6:34Speaker 1: But Vegas never knows. It's hard week two. They don't know.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I think the Vegas odd makers are Cowboys fans.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Well, Vegas the Cowboys.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I was thinking the same thing.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Sick So okay, but it's still look at look at
- 6:45Speaker 1: all that yesterday. Look at the Raiders. Raiders were plus eight,
- 6:48Speaker 1: plus eight and a half.
- 6:50Speaker 3: It's still too early. Oh it's the script, is what
- 6:52Speaker 3: you're saying. No, I'm saying, maybe I shouldn't be done.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Maybe it's just the NFL.
- 7:00Speaker 1: There's no script anyway, What do you have to say?
- 7:02Speaker 3: I just I don't know, just gonna go. I'm gonna
- 7:04Speaker 3: be like read going in every week and just be like, no, man.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Doesn't have a passion when it comes to sports.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I'm not gonna have a passion anore. I'm just gonna
- 7:11Speaker 3: watch it and when they win and be like, that's good,
- 7:12Speaker 3: they played really good this week.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And then you're hurt, And that's okay because I've been
- 7:16Speaker 1: hurt many, many, many times. But you're lying.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Also, I'm not lying, okay, So I'm not lying.
- 7:22Speaker 1: And I'm also raising four boys who are growing up
- 7:25Speaker 1: in a Cowboys household, and they're they don't deserve that
- 7:28Speaker 1: kind of pain. They never got the joy right at you,
- 7:32Speaker 1: He's got the joy like the nineties.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Dude, That's that was the best years of my life.
- 7:36Speaker 3: My boys are growing up being like this is terrible,
- 7:38Speaker 3: like this is this is what it's like to be
- 7:40Speaker 3: a sports fan.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Well, they'll also not be as passionate as you.
- 7:43Speaker 7: That's because they've all Yeah, you're given them a team,
- 7:46Speaker 7: though I never had a team.
- 7:48Speaker 3: You're from Arkansas, though, aren't are the Cowboys? Aren't they
- 7:50Speaker 3: the I just never a Cowboys fan.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the Cowboys are probably the most the
- 7:55Speaker 1: most popular team in Arkansas. Yes, but it's not like
- 7:58Speaker 1: you have to be a Cowboys fan. And I was
- 8:00Speaker 1: not a Cowboys fan because everybody else was, so I
- 8:02Speaker 1: automatically like, I'm out. Okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for
- 8:05Speaker 1: your loss.
- 8:06Speaker 3: How's our defense?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Like?
- 8:07Speaker 3: What do you think? Like our defense is terrible?
- 8:08Speaker 1: Or like, again, the Saints might be the best offense
- 8:12Speaker 1: in history.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Of sports, so with Derek Carr as their quarterback. Interesting?
- 8:16Speaker 1: The thing about Derek Carr was he's supposed to be
- 8:18Speaker 1: pretty good.
- 8:19Speaker 3: You've said that every year.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I know he's supposed to be he hasn't been, but
- 8:21Speaker 1: maybe finally he's in the system that kind of allows it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You know.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Is it Kubiak?
- 8:26Speaker 3: Gary Kubiak?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Is there?
- 8:28Speaker 5: Nothing?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Is?
- 8:28Speaker 5: Is it a Sun Clinton?
- 8:29Speaker 1: I thought it was a son too. I know he
- 8:31Speaker 1: coached in San Francisco. He's in that whole tree because
- 8:34Speaker 1: they did a whole graphic on it. But I think
- 8:36Speaker 1: it's a son. Do we know? Because otherwise I only
- 8:39Speaker 1: think that because the named Kubiak?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Who else is named Kubiak?
- 8:42Speaker 5: Yeah it is a son?
- 8:43Speaker 1: Okay, all right? Who used to coach Texans?
- 8:45Speaker 2: Remember? Yeah?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, okay, Eddie, I'm sorry for your loss.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Man.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Thanks Kevin Patriots.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 6: I mean it was competitive, and they didn't necessarily turn
- 8:54Speaker 6: the ball over and give the game away like they
- 8:55Speaker 6: usually do in the last.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Three or four years.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I thought they were gonna win it at the end
- 8:58Speaker 1: of me too.
- 8:58Speaker 6: They had their shot, they didn't get it done. Kudos
- 9:00Speaker 6: to the Seahawks. It was a good game, competitive game,
- 9:02Speaker 6: back and forth, and they stopped the Seahawks when they
- 9:04Speaker 6: needed to in the fourth quarter on third and one
- 9:07Speaker 6: short and they kick the field goal going overtime. You
- 9:09Speaker 6: ever shot, and they just didn't get it done.
- 9:10Speaker 1: How many more losses until you just want losses?
- 9:15Speaker 5: How many more losses till just.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Lo because there's a point where you kind of have
- 9:20Speaker 1: to go. I just don't want to finish around five
- 9:22Speaker 1: hundreds because we have no draft pick. You don't want
- 9:24Speaker 1: to mid Yeah, So you either want to win or
- 9:26Speaker 1: you want a really good draft pick.
- 9:29Speaker 6: At the beginning of the year, I'll say five wins
- 9:31Speaker 6: is a win in my book for the season.
- 9:33Speaker 5: So I'll take that.
- 9:34Speaker 1: So twelve losses, if they lose the next couple games
- 9:38Speaker 1: in a.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Row, that's okay. Actually not this week because they're playing
- 9:41Speaker 5: the Jets.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You gotta win that one, yeah, I want so you
- 9:43Speaker 1: want to win this one, Yes, you want to win
- 9:45Speaker 1: for now on. Yeah, if they lose two or three.
- 9:46Speaker 6: More, yeah, yeah, if we get into week six or
- 9:49Speaker 6: seven and it's like, I don't know, we're two and
- 9:52Speaker 6: four to two and five, and it's like, okay, let's
- 9:54Speaker 6: just keep losing here.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's better for the long term future exactly.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I like this talk. It's cute and all. But do
- 9:59Speaker 1: players ever talk like this? No, because players will be
- 10:02Speaker 1: watched and graded. Yeah, they'll be great about for their
- 10:05Speaker 1: individual play. So no, because players also they understand the
- 10:09Speaker 1: team doesn't give a rip about them. It's a business.
- 10:11Speaker 3: It's a business, so they've got to always look good.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, they're trying as hard as they possibly can. Yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Coaches are different in GMS. If they know that they
- 10:19Speaker 1: have picks. No, I'm saying, if they if they know
- 10:23Speaker 1: that they will be there the next year, next a
- 10:25Speaker 1: couple of years, they have some job security. It's a
- 10:27Speaker 1: bit different. Mike textas Longhorns, it looks awesome because yours
- 10:30Speaker 1: went down, so it's kind of bittersweet.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 1: It Arts looked awesome too. Arts looked really good. There.
- 10:34Speaker 1: He has moments where he's a little, but yeah, when
- 10:37Speaker 1: he came in with the lead. So I don't know
- 10:39Speaker 1: if that changes anything for me, but I was still
- 10:41Speaker 1: not fully buying into him. They're they're ranked number one.
- 10:44Speaker 3: How early did viewers go down? First quarter?
- 10:47Speaker 1: And did you see Arch outrun everybody?
- 10:49Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 10:50Speaker 3: He outran He can run.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Dude, if you haven't seen him break around the right
- 10:54Speaker 1: side running. It wasn't like Peyton Mannings fake who was
- 11:00Speaker 1: so good and he got around that kind of run.
- 11:03Speaker 1: His fake was good and then he outran everybody. The
- 11:06Speaker 1: name Manning, show Eddy this it's not sononym runner. Watch him,
- 11:11Speaker 1: watch how and not.
- 11:13Speaker 3: The day they can't catch him and someone looks slow
- 11:20Speaker 3: and that DV is hauling button. He can't catch him.
- 11:22Speaker 3: That's crazy, that crazy. Good for him.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I was happy at first passed he was a touchdown.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Then he had the running play and then he threw
- 11:29Speaker 1: it up. He threw it, he threw he threw four touchdowns.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yesterday he was four touchdown or Saturday. Yeah, and then
- 11:34Speaker 1: we brought it a third stream next week you have
- 11:36Speaker 1: I don't know if you was going to play next
- 11:38Speaker 1: You play ULL Lafayette next week or U L. Monroe
- 11:40Speaker 1: or one of those Schirrels because it's it's ab injury said,
- 11:44Speaker 1: he's already out, so I wouldn't play him. If they're
- 11:46Speaker 1: not Louisiana Monroe, it's it's a Louisiana team, I believe. Yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 1: it's all the same. Yeah, you just combine to me
- 11:53Speaker 1: all those little schools over there. Yeah, so yeah, Texas,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I didn't you know, didn't play anybody, but they didn't
- 11:58Speaker 1: play nobody. UTSA from mid Major has been I doy're
- 12:02Speaker 1: not as good as they used they have in the
- 12:03Speaker 1: last couple of years. But yeah, yeah, yeah, I like
- 12:07Speaker 1: we coach Trailer, Friend of the Show, TSA, Yeah, Jets,
- 12:12Speaker 1: New York Casey feel fantastic, guys, it's been.
- 12:17Speaker 8: It was a beautiful day yesterday at Nissan Stadium with
- 12:20Speaker 8: my dad.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Did you feel good? Was Uh?
- 12:23Speaker 3: Never a doubt, never a doubt that they were going
- 12:25Speaker 3: to pull this out?
- 12:27Speaker 1: No, that was I can't tell I can't tell you because.
- 12:30Speaker 8: I had doubt will right now. It's like I'm not
- 12:33Speaker 8: used to actually winning. I feel like this is like
- 12:35Speaker 8: the first game that my dad and I have went
- 12:37Speaker 8: to that they've won in like ten years.
- 12:39Speaker 1: So my question to you was, are you happy because
- 12:42Speaker 1: you won or are you kind of mid because you
- 12:45Speaker 1: want but you barely beat a bad team.
- 12:48Speaker 8: I'm just you know, I'm going to be optimistic here,
- 12:50Speaker 8: which is is very rare for me. But I feel
- 12:54Speaker 8: pretty good. I think we're going to work out these kinks.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Now.
- 12:58Speaker 8: We're playing Kevin team on Thursday, and I don't like
- 13:02Speaker 8: that spread. It's minus six and a half. So I
- 13:04Speaker 8: think that game is actually gonna be pretty tight. Really, Yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 8: that's what I saw. I have the Jet initially six
- 13:08Speaker 8: and a half. Yeah, that's what I saw initially. But
- 13:10Speaker 8: I think that I think that's gonna be close.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I think the line, but the Patriots have actually been
- 13:15Speaker 3: playing competitive.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'm just talking about the Jet should win this game.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Spread aside, Who cares about spread of your fan?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 13:20Speaker 1: Unless I mean I bet heavy on Arkansas. He didn't cover,
- 13:23Speaker 1: but still they didn't cover. It was a terrible game.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But it's not about media.
- 13:26Speaker 3: No, we're not there yet, the Jet.
- 13:28Speaker 1: The Jets can win. They can beat the Patriots, they
- 13:32Speaker 1: can beat the Broncos. Yeah, then they have the Vikings
- 13:35Speaker 1: who knew gosh.
- 13:36Speaker 8: Like Sam Donald did this already with Carolina. Then you
- 13:39Speaker 8: go like three and oh or something like that. Like
- 13:41Speaker 8: early MVP though.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Is if I'm being because I hear you, the difference
- 13:47Speaker 1: is this Minnesota team is not that Carolina team. They're
- 13:50Speaker 1: actually a bit better. Yeah, and they also have Justin Jefferson.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Yeah who got bay got hurt?
- 13:56Speaker 2: Right?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yeah, he did come out back, but he should be
- 13:58Speaker 1: back at ninety seven yard I Meanessin Jefferson, he'll be fine.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I was watching it live. The ball you couldn't
- 14:02Speaker 5: even see it on the screen.
- 14:03Speaker 6: So and then you just see Justin come out of
- 14:05Speaker 6: nowhere and just boom right in the order.
- 14:07Speaker 1: But even if he is out for a couple of weeks,
- 14:08Speaker 1: I'm just saying, the Vikings are not the Panthers from
- 14:10Speaker 1: that year.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So how do you feel about the Jets for the
- 14:13Speaker 1: rest of you few years?
- 14:14Speaker 2: Great?
- 14:15Speaker 8: Yeah, it was. It was awesome. It was pretty funny
- 14:18Speaker 8: because my dad is like knee surgery. So we're in
- 14:21Speaker 8: these like special seats and we're sitting next to these
- 14:23Speaker 8: like old ancient southern white men, and like there was
- 14:27Speaker 8: this roughing the passer call in the game, and it
- 14:30Speaker 8: was kind of bs or whatever. My Dad's just like
- 14:32Speaker 8: up there like screaming and cursing and these dudes are
- 14:36Speaker 8: like just looking at him, just like what is wrong
- 14:39Speaker 8: with this man?
- 14:40Speaker 3: So there was there was some entertainment in there for sure.
- 14:42Speaker 3: That was good.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So you and your dad bonded though to it's fun.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it was one.
- 14:46Speaker 2: It was great.
- 14:46Speaker 6: What was the stadium like when Will Levis had another interception?
- 14:50Speaker 3: Yeah, that's terrible, right, Yeah he started passing. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 6: His coach even said it afterwards, he's dumb. He did
- 14:57Speaker 6: it two weeks in a row, like it was the.
- 15:00Speaker 1: What's he thinking?
- 15:00Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 15:01Speaker 1: It was like a backward shovel pass, like a steady rolled.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Is he the worst starting quarterback in the NFL?
- 15:08Speaker 3: I think that's Bryce young Man.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I still take Bryce. I still believe yeah, just because
- 15:13Speaker 1: Bryce young Bryce he has nothing with him.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 8: I saw him almost like crying on the sidelines. I
- 15:18Speaker 8: don't think guys saw that he was crying. There was
- 15:20Speaker 8: there was a moment when like he just looked so
- 15:22Speaker 8: distraught that there it looked like tears were I feel
- 15:25Speaker 8: for him well enough in his eyes.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I will not give up on him yet.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Me either, put him, let him get out of here.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Oh you're up now.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I think Will Levis is the worst because minshew, But
- 15:40Speaker 1: no he's not. I mean no, I'm just thinking of
- 15:42Speaker 1: a guy that maybe wouldn't start.
- 15:43Speaker 5: On every Jones. I'd still take Daniel.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I take Daniel Jones ever, Minshee, Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Justin Field, still take Fields. Yeah, Filters once, Filters one again,
- 15:54Speaker 5: I know, but they don't do.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Anything, you know, Smith Steelers a solid Oh, bo Nicks,
- 16:00Speaker 3: Bonnicks a rookie, though, I take Bonex over Levis.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Bon Nix has. Here's the thing about like what Bonnick.
- 16:04Speaker 1: The guy has so much confidence. That's all he has
- 16:06Speaker 1: right now. He has so much confident it's crazy to
- 16:10Speaker 1: watch our confidence. He has thrown interceptions and he also
- 16:13Speaker 1: looks like he can throw. He can, I mean he's
- 16:15Speaker 1: I watched him in probably half that game and it
- 16:18Speaker 1: was not good. He's but Hayler Williams listen, no prize
- 16:23Speaker 1: either right now. Yeah, but bon Knicks looks like eventually
- 16:26Speaker 1: he's going to belong.
- 16:29Speaker 3: But we're talking about right now.
- 16:30Speaker 1: But Levis doesn't look like he's inn belong Levis. Levis's terribo.
- 16:33Speaker 5: He's definitely the worst.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Bonnicks dropping back and throwing everything about until where that
- 16:37Speaker 1: ball gets looks pretty good. Levis is just making terrible decisions.
- 16:39Speaker 1: He's a terrible quarterback. Uh yeah, I think he's the
- 16:43Speaker 1: worst in the NFL.
- 16:44Speaker 2: ME.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I went to the Oklahoma game and they played two lane,
- 16:49Speaker 1: but at the same time Arkansas was playing like half
- 16:51Speaker 1: an hour later, and I want to shout out everybody
- 16:53Speaker 1: to Oklahoma. They put the Arkansas game up in the
- 16:55Speaker 1: suite I was in. I didn't even ask him. Didn't
- 16:57Speaker 1: ask him. He had it up on the screen. It's
- 16:59Speaker 1: very nice of them. We're played to UAB. We were
- 17:02Speaker 1: a twenty three point favorite. I think we fell ten
- 17:05Speaker 1: zero pretty quick second half. We came back and won,
- 17:09Speaker 1: but it shouldn't have been that close. I'm not turning,
- 17:14Speaker 1: as some people are saying. I am just allowing my
- 17:18Speaker 1: thoughts on the games as I do when things are
- 17:21Speaker 1: going well to be public and people think I'm turning
- 17:25Speaker 1: on the coaching staff. I think there's been some real
- 17:28Speaker 1: deficiencies in coaching defensively general state of the football program.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That doesn't mean that I am anti anything. I hope
- 17:35Speaker 1: they fix it. If we don't beat Auburn by ten points,
- 17:37Speaker 1: we're going to Auburn and we won't be the favorite.
- 17:39Speaker 1: But Auburn sucks. We should be to Auburn. I want
- 17:45Speaker 1: to win every game. I hope that they proved that
- 17:48Speaker 1: I've been wrong. The last I won would have been
- 17:50Speaker 1: wrong because they did not play. As coaching, we were
- 17:51Speaker 1: not ready for you, ab.
- 17:52Speaker 6: It was weird, Yeah, weird. I saw them down ten.
- 17:55Speaker 6: I was like, oh, no, Monday, No, that is weird.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Yeah, it could be rough.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I'm often accused of me as a Sunshine pumper for
- 18:01Speaker 1: the program. I'm not. It's not going well offensively. We're
- 18:06Speaker 1: scoring points, but our quarterback can't throw. He runs real well.
- 18:09Speaker 3: You can run really well.
- 18:11Speaker 1: But we were playing Auburn. If there's an SEC game
- 18:13Speaker 1: that we want to play right now, it's Auburn. We
- 18:16Speaker 1: want to play Auburn. We want to beat Auburn, and
- 18:17Speaker 1: we want to move to the next week. So that's
- 18:19Speaker 1: all we won. I lost a decent amount of money
- 18:21Speaker 1: because I thought for sure we covered twenty three U
- 18:24Speaker 1: A B dil for it looks like Goldberg down there.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I know, Beef doug Head go tea one in the
- 18:31Speaker 1: HOODI you would know sleeves. Got appreciate that, which, by
- 18:34Speaker 1: the way, too much access is three and oh every
- 18:37Speaker 1: episode we put up the teams one after so far.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So we had Arizona they won the week with Oregon
- 18:42Speaker 1: they won, and then we had Chargers they won two
- 18:47Speaker 1: they are two and o so so too much access
- 18:50Speaker 1: is three and oh who wants to next? What was
- 18:53Speaker 1: our parlay?
- 18:54Speaker 5: It was?
- 18:56Speaker 1: I never sometimes I never.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Know because I don't think we hit it because I didn't.
- 19:00Speaker 5: Yeah, it was like LSU money.
- 19:02Speaker 1: We didn't get LSU. LSU got. They cheated in one
- 19:07Speaker 1: cheater ref cheatd for that.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I know Dafarance ref.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Cheated a few. There's a few calls there. Yeah, I
- 19:14Speaker 1: watched a lot of that game on mute in the
- 19:16Speaker 1: press box.
- 19:17Speaker 3: But then South Carolina had the field goal attempt and
- 19:20Speaker 3: then missed it, so that's kind of on them.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Georgia, Oh yeah, that was minus twenty four.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Oh that's where we missed.
- 19:26Speaker 6: Yeah, then Oregon covered at sixteen and a half and
- 19:28Speaker 6: then LSU covered, So yeah, Georgia four point.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Ls you covered.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Georgia should have lost that game. That that was an interception.
- 19:35Speaker 5: I didn't see it. I saw people talking about it,
- 19:37Speaker 5: but I never saw the clue.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And I also, I'm not going to be a hater
- 19:41Speaker 1: and talk about stoops, not going forward on fourth down.
- 19:44Speaker 1: They were in plus territory that game. The Kentucky defense hut.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Georgia Kurby smart, noops, do you watch games? Yeah? Who
- 19:53Speaker 3: are you talking about? The Oklahoma's coach Bob Stople.
- 19:56Speaker 1: He doesn't coach Oklahoma. He his brother is the head
- 19:59Speaker 1: coach at Kentucky. And Kentucky had fourth down.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Yes, wow, I didn't know that. That's cool.
- 20:04Speaker 1: And Kentucky had fourth down and I don't remember, I
- 20:07Speaker 1: know it's fourth and long and they had to be
- 20:08Speaker 1: able to move the ball. Nobody had. The score was
- 20:10Speaker 1: like thirteen twelve or whatever. Yeah, and so he was
- 20:13Speaker 1: gonna punt trust his defense pen on the Trust's defense,
- 20:16Speaker 1: and I get it. They were like, you have you
- 20:18Speaker 1: get this. You have a great kicker going the game.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I just can't hate on them because it was a
- 20:24Speaker 1: defensive game and if they stopped them, they get the
- 20:26Speaker 1: ball back decent field position with one time. And they
- 20:29Speaker 1: hadn't been able to move the ball the whole time,
- 20:31Speaker 1: So I can understand why they're frustrated in hindsight, but
- 20:34Speaker 1: I they hadn't been able to convert first, second, third
- 20:38Speaker 1: and long the whole night basically. But yeah, that was
- 20:43Speaker 1: a tough loss. Yeah, I was rooting for Kentucky. I
- 20:46Speaker 1: turned it on, turned it on about halftime, and was
- 20:49Speaker 1: ready to watch Georgia run away with it. They never did, so,
- 20:52Speaker 1: big shout out to Kentucky. But yeah, Mike's boys are
- 20:55Speaker 1: number one. Yeah, good for you, buddy. You're in though,
- 20:59Speaker 1: right a bit. They're the best, right I'm in. Yeah, championship,
- 21:02Speaker 1: We're going all the way, all the way championship or
- 21:04Speaker 1: bus huh?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 5: If not, I'll eat this hat?
- 21:07Speaker 3: What hat?
- 21:07Speaker 1: Don't do that because they won't. They're still Texas. How
- 21:12Speaker 1: do we feel about because I was watching the end
- 21:13Speaker 1: of the Chiefs and Bengals, and how do you feel
- 21:16Speaker 1: about past in afferance? I mean I think that was
- 21:18Speaker 1: an interference call? Yeah, I mean some people are arguing
- 21:20Speaker 1: it was. I think it absolutely was not back.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yeah it was.
- 21:23Speaker 1: How do we feel about the six thirty and forty
- 21:26Speaker 1: and fifty and sixty yard passing interferance call? Ate it?
- 21:28Speaker 1: Do you think it should just be fifteen or.
- 21:30Speaker 6: Especially at the end of the game like that, And
- 21:31Speaker 6: I know you can't do one or the other, So
- 21:33Speaker 6: just do the fifteen yard penalty because as soon as
- 21:36Speaker 6: it happens, like oh, game over. You like how I
- 21:38Speaker 6: watched three hours of this game and then it gets
- 21:40Speaker 6: decided on a pasting inference call and like you said,
- 21:42Speaker 6: it was past interference, it was passing afferents.
- 21:44Speaker 5: But that just sucks.
- 21:45Speaker 6: You put in all this emotion and watching this game
- 21:48Speaker 6: and you're into it and into it, and then oh,
- 21:49Speaker 6: as soon as that happened, like game over.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah, Cincinnati blew it.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So you guys both want you want college roles for
- 21:54Speaker 1: passing afferance or you like, I think so, yeah, I
- 21:56Speaker 1: don't mind how it is. I think they should give
- 21:58Speaker 1: those yards to the quarterback though. I think that's where
- 22:01Speaker 1: the stats like if you're going because if you're going
- 22:04Speaker 1: to eliminate and those yards have I think that that
- 22:07Speaker 1: should be quarterback given yards or half the yards. There
- 22:11Speaker 1: are a couple of rules, right because I'm okay, we
- 22:13Speaker 1: know the rule don't interfere, but it's so hard not
- 22:15Speaker 1: to interfere.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I mean, are you coming from a fantasy standpoint or no?
- 22:19Speaker 1: Because again it could used against me too, So it's
- 22:22Speaker 1: not just like my quarterbacks only getting interfered with. But
- 22:24Speaker 1: there's a bunch of yards there. I think somebody should
- 22:27Speaker 1: get something because they were cheated out of them. Same
- 22:32Speaker 1: thing with I like that.
- 22:34Speaker 3: And the interceptions. Whenever it's a tip and they get intercepted,
- 22:36Speaker 3: they shouldn't count that against the quarterback. As far as stats.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Goes, well, no, because they throw, the quarterback gets to
- 22:42Speaker 1: pick his arm angle in which he throws the ball,
- 22:44Speaker 1: in which some make it.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Sometimes it's just kind of like happenstance, and that's okay.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Sometimes it catches or happenstance like receptions.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Right right.
- 22:52Speaker 3: But I'm saying if it's intercepted, they shouldn't mark. They
- 22:54Speaker 3: shouldn't put that against the quarterback. It's era in baseball. Yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 3: it's an error.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I don't agree with that, but in error is a
- 23:00Speaker 1: judgment call, and and we're not you're gonna do a
- 23:03Speaker 1: judgment call every time.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Okay. As far as the passing inference though goes, I
- 23:07Speaker 3: think that they should. Uh, if it's going to determine the.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Game, you should be able to review it, Okay, if
- 23:14Speaker 1: it's going to determine the game, ugly, it's yeah, that review.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I love review. I remember when everybone instant replay was
- 23:22Speaker 1: controversial and I was like, no, we need to replay.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And I love it's to replay. That's a tough one
- 23:26Speaker 1: to review. Yeah, because you can a finger on.
- 23:28Speaker 5: A person in slow motion everything.
- 23:32Speaker 1: It's like holding. Yeah, but are you gonna review every
- 23:34Speaker 1: play if it mattered if it's holding or not.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Everyone's holding everybody, everywhere, everywhere.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I like the rule as it is. I can understand
- 23:42Speaker 1: after a game like yesterday, why you guys are be
- 23:43Speaker 1: frustrated with that or anyone. I just think they need
- 23:46Speaker 1: yards the same way I think that if you get
- 23:48Speaker 1: fouled and you make your free throws, the person that
- 23:52Speaker 1: threw you the assists that got you fouled should get
- 23:53Speaker 1: the assists. Yeah, like they're I'm just looking out for
- 23:56Speaker 1: the players.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Sure, it's nice of you.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's being a player myself.
- 24:01Speaker 3: How about the new kickoff? We still kind of don't
- 24:04Speaker 3: like it that much.
- 24:05Speaker 1: It's not even a thing to me anymore. Ye either way,
- 24:07Speaker 1: it's just like, okay, there are actual plays. I mean,
- 24:09Speaker 1: I guess I don't just not watch it during the
- 24:11Speaker 1: kickoff before we just who cares. Yeah, it was weird
- 24:13Speaker 1: seeing it live in person, just seeing them all line fifty.
- 24:16Speaker 1: It was very like bizarre that that whole other side
- 24:18Speaker 1: of the field was just like vacant.
- 24:20Speaker 3: That would be a little weird to They are making
- 24:21Speaker 3: little adjustments too, Like at first they would if you
- 24:24Speaker 3: got past that line, because it would start so late. Yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 3: that once you got past that line, you would be free.
- 24:30Speaker 3: There's no one to tackle back there. But they've adjusted
- 24:34Speaker 3: now to where not everyone attacks fully drop back safety. Yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 3: so they're learning too.
- 24:39Speaker 1: It's not weird to me anymore. Yeah, and we're seeing
- 24:42Speaker 1: some actual returns. Yeah, even if not for touchdowns to
- 24:45Speaker 1: like the thirty eight forty two. Okay, cool, let's go
- 24:50Speaker 1: and hit the tittle tattle. Go ahead, Mikey the tittle tattle.
- 25:01Speaker 6: Following you playing in your basketball camp this past weekend,
- 25:03Speaker 6: if you could play a pickup game with any four people.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Dead or alive, who would they be?
- 25:08Speaker 1: The camp was so hard. It was so hard. I
- 25:11Speaker 1: thought it was read. It was ballers, wasn't it.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Yeah, some large men.
- 25:15Speaker 1: And my hope was when I got to the coach
- 25:19Speaker 1: call camp, it was going to be a lot of
- 25:20Speaker 1: like large men, but like fat men that I could
- 25:22Speaker 1: just like run around.
- 25:23Speaker 3: They weren't fat.
- 25:24Speaker 1: There were a couple, but nobody read can back me up?
- 25:27Speaker 1: Nobody lasted. That wasn't like a baller.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 7: There was even some older dudes there that were like
- 25:31Speaker 7: probably late sixties even maybe early seventies, and they would
- 25:36Speaker 7: like school me in one on one.
- 25:38Speaker 1: They like they played Division one basketball. Yeah back in
- 25:40Speaker 1: the day is wild and the running full court.
- 25:44Speaker 5: Who is the best one there?
- 25:46Speaker 1: I don't know their names, but there were there were.
- 25:49Speaker 1: There was like a national shooting coach that worked with
- 25:51Speaker 1: NBA players there playing. There was Cardell was yeah, Cordardill Jones.
- 25:57Speaker 1: He was awesome. I mean he could dunk.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Uh.
- 26:00Speaker 5: He's a big old boy.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Huh oh yeah, probably six or five, not like six
- 26:05Speaker 1: nine or six, but for a football player.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Were they playing physical like yeah?
- 26:09Speaker 1: People like got hurt. Nobody. It never got chippy like fight. Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 1: but everybody was competing and it was forty minutes of
- 26:16Speaker 1: full court. And the hard thing about our team was
- 26:18Speaker 1: every team had eight people except ours because we had
- 26:20Speaker 1: two get hurt immediately. First game, we had six people
- 26:24Speaker 1: and so people are dying trying to come out of
- 26:25Speaker 1: the game and they can't one person. But our coach
- 26:28Speaker 1: was Seth Greenberg.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Oh that's cool. I think it is all picture right.
- 26:31Speaker 5: It was our coach and so he's been on the show. Yes, yeah,
- 26:34Speaker 5: that's right.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's super cool. And he's you know, on college
- 26:38Speaker 1: game Day basketball and coach Miami, coach Virginia. Take him
- 26:42Speaker 1: and I hung out a bunch.
- 26:43Speaker 5: That's awesome. He seems like a good dude.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I really liked him. Yeah, person, are these four
- 26:47Speaker 1: people on my team?
- 26:48Speaker 5: Yeah? You and four others.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Man, I'm probably just trying to play defense because only
- 26:53Speaker 1: wore running shoes this whole time too, because I'm just
- 26:55Speaker 1: gonna try to hustle and play defense. And then I
- 26:57Speaker 1: was getting this annihilated online like you know what, I
- 27:00Speaker 1: know what. I have plenty of shoes, more shoes than you.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I had to make a business decision. I know it
- 27:05Speaker 1: was going to be running the whole time, so I
- 27:06Speaker 1: put on running shoes. I would probably just try to
- 27:10Speaker 1: I'll just play with the greats, my four greatest players
- 27:14Speaker 1: i'd like to play with. I'd play with I never
- 27:16Speaker 1: get the ball that i'd play with, Steph. See, I'm
- 27:22Speaker 1: not going to be the one, though, but I'll be
- 27:24Speaker 1: the one.
- 27:25Speaker 3: You're not going to be the one regardless, Like like
- 27:28Speaker 3: the point guard scenario, like I thought you meant like
- 27:30Speaker 3: no one.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I don't only have a position. I'll be the one
- 27:36Speaker 1: for this, Okay, So I'll put Steph at two, I'll
- 27:41Speaker 1: put Jordan at three, Lebron at four.
- 27:44Speaker 3: And this is in their peak right right now, yes,
- 27:47Speaker 3: right now, anytime.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I'll take it. Pick up, you name the year, and
- 27:51Speaker 1: then at the five, I mean, do I put Shack?
- 27:57Speaker 4: You know?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a lot of lakers. I mean I can
- 28:03Speaker 1: name a lot of just centers, you know. Yeah, but
- 28:06Speaker 1: I think Shack's more dominant than the young mean was, Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 1: probably Shacked. That probably be my team.
- 28:10Speaker 5: That'll be fun, show up, just lob it up, that's you.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Oh yeah, that'd be good.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I probably wouldn't get to shoot it at all, but whatever,
- 28:16Speaker 1: all right, what else?
- 28:17Speaker 2: All right?
- 28:17Speaker 6: Which Florida team do you think is more disappointed, whether
- 28:20Speaker 6: their start of the season the Gators or the Seminoles.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Florida State Man, Florida State is that's I think the
- 28:30Speaker 1: Florida Gators already had a bad taste in their mouth
- 28:32Speaker 1: a bit. I think they knew that the it's got
- 28:35Speaker 1: to be the Seminals because they were top ten. I
- 28:37Speaker 1: saw a stat that no top ten team has lost
- 28:40Speaker 1: a three unranked teams ever to start the season.
- 28:43Speaker 3: It's bad, It's bad, bad.
- 28:46Speaker 4: So this.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Florida State is I just feel bad. It's to the
- 28:51Speaker 1: point now where I just feel bad for their fans.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I just feel bad for their fans. They got screwed
- 28:57Speaker 1: out of the game last year. I agreed with they're
- 28:59Speaker 1: screwing by the way, because again that the committee makes
- 29:02Speaker 1: a judgment decision based on personnel. They did not have
- 29:04Speaker 1: a quarterback. I agreed with their screwing. They still got screwed.
- 29:07Speaker 3: But and you complained about it too, like they complained
- 29:10Speaker 3: about it.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, and then they start owing three, so they
- 29:13Speaker 1: get screwed. They lose in the bowl game, but they
- 29:17Speaker 1: already there's not a good Yeah.
- 29:19Speaker 2: And then.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And he lost his old team. He paid Memphis like
- 29:25Speaker 1: that is the one point three I think sometimes over
- 29:28Speaker 1: a million bucks. Yeah, Florida's gonna fight as their coach.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Another one, another one, another one is that nipor Yeah,
- 29:37Speaker 1: Dan Mallin has a winning I mean they ran Dann
- 29:40Speaker 1: Mallen out of town. He had for what they have
- 29:43Speaker 1: now he was rocking. Uh Yeah, So I think Florida
- 29:45Speaker 1: State those having the worst of it all because they
- 29:47Speaker 1: were expected to be good expectations. Man, they get you
- 29:49Speaker 1: every time. All Right, what's next?
- 29:50Speaker 6: Okay, NFL, what's more surprising to you? The Vikings starting
- 29:53Speaker 6: two and oh or the Ravens own two.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna say the Vikings at two and oh. And
- 29:58Speaker 1: here's why it's not the because the Ravens at least
- 30:01Speaker 1: played one good team, like we expected the Ravens probably,
- 30:04Speaker 1: and then Vegas did to lose to the Chiefs, so
- 30:06Speaker 1: that one was an ex You thought the Ravens would
- 30:09Speaker 1: probably be one in one, now did they that? They Raiders?
- 30:14Speaker 2: Law?
- 30:14Speaker 1: The Raider should have won that game. I mean, the
- 30:15Speaker 1: Raiders should have. I'm glad they did. Bruck Bowers has
- 30:18Speaker 1: turned into a man right in front of us.
- 30:21Speaker 2: But the.
- 30:23Speaker 1: The Ravens zero to two isn't as surprising as the
- 30:27Speaker 1: Vikings being two to zero. Beating the forty nine Ers
- 30:32Speaker 1: hilarious surprising, I mean the Giants, who cares? But the
- 30:37Speaker 1: forty nine Ers, we didn't even if they beat the Giants,
- 30:40Speaker 1: So let's be honest, we had no We didn't think
- 30:44Speaker 1: that they would beat the Giants, like we felt like
- 30:46Speaker 1: the Chiefs would beat the Ravens because we didn't really know.
- 30:50Speaker 1: We were like, I don't know the Vikings are Sam
- 30:52Speaker 1: Darnolds or quarterback who's even playing running back now, Josh
- 30:57Speaker 1: Jake Aaron Jones. If you watch Josh jaks fumble to
- 31:00Speaker 1: go on, yes, tra always.
- 31:01Speaker 5: They almost blew that. Yes, so we didn't know.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So if the Giants would have won, we'd have been like, okay, wow.
- 31:07Speaker 1: So yeah, it's more surprise than the Vikings are to
- 31:09Speaker 1: and oh let's go.
- 31:09Speaker 7: I'm on.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I'm on the train. It's fun to one dam Donold train.
- 31:12Speaker 3: I'm on it.
- 31:13Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 31:13Speaker 1: The Justin Jefferson pass I was crazy. Yeah, he's awesome, right.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Next last one.
- 31:17Speaker 6: After two blow wins the start the season, where do
- 31:19Speaker 6: you rank the Saints in the NFC.
- 31:20Speaker 1: The greatest team ever?
- 31:23Speaker 3: Crazy?
- 31:23Speaker 1: The Saints are not the greatest team in the history
- 31:25Speaker 1: of NFL. It's wild to see them score so many points.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Camara has always been great as a receiving running back.
- 31:34Speaker 1: He's always in fantasy if he's not being suspended for hitting,
- 31:37Speaker 1: punching somebody like, he's going to catch catch a lot
- 31:40Speaker 1: of balls. Man.
- 31:42Speaker 2: There.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It's crazy how good they've looked offensively.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Yep. The guy should eat too is like yeah, nowhere, Yeah, So.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I ranked the Saints is the greatest of all time.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Okay, it's fair.
- 31:53Speaker 1: So who's undefeated now? In general? They're two and oh teams.
- 31:58Speaker 1: The Vikings are two and oh. The Seahawks are two
- 32:01Speaker 1: and oh. Do they win? They won yesterday. The Bucks
- 32:05Speaker 1: are two and oh over the Lions, which is a
- 32:07Speaker 1: good win for Baker and crew. The lost?
- 32:11Speaker 3: Would you say the Cardinals?
- 32:12Speaker 1: They lost to the Bills. We want but they look
- 32:14Speaker 1: for Marvin Harrison had two touchdowns in the first quarter.
- 32:16Speaker 5: The Eagles are one and no, they haven't played yet.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't even care to go through them all,
- 32:20Speaker 1: but I'm in Saints for Champs. Can you run for
- 32:23Speaker 1: that office? Thanks for Champs, probably voter Man. I hate
- 32:26Speaker 1: that for the Cowboys because I lost a bunch of money,
- 32:29Speaker 1: but gotta respect it, all right. That's total twal thank you,
- 32:31Speaker 1: stupid his name.
- 32:34Speaker 2: The town.
- 32:39Speaker 1: So let's talk about the Monday night options. Kirk Cousins
- 32:42Speaker 1: more or less than two hundred and twenty four point
- 32:44Speaker 1: five passing yards. I would normally go more, but they've
- 32:46Speaker 1: thrown for so few yards. Just in general this NFL season,
- 32:52Speaker 1: there have been very few three hundred plus. Do you
- 32:55Speaker 1: know who the leading passer was this week?
- 32:56Speaker 2: And I do not know.
- 32:57Speaker 5: It's gotta be car dude.
- 32:59Speaker 1: That's crazy again now because two it was week one,
- 33:02Speaker 1: yeah obviously, and two is not going to retire highway.
- 33:05Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 33:06Speaker 1: It's on eight. It's him, man, it says all. He
- 33:08Speaker 1: gets to make his own life decisions.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I know iouer. His dad would be like, son, come on,
- 33:13Speaker 3: we love you man.
- 33:15Speaker 2: No more.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Eddie kirk Cousins more or less than two twenty four
- 33:19Speaker 1: point five passing yards.
- 33:20Speaker 3: I go more, I'll go more to more.
- 33:22Speaker 1: I'll just get burned by this over and over again
- 33:27Speaker 1: by Jon Robinson more or less one hundred and one
- 33:30Speaker 1: point five total yards. That's receiving and running.
- 33:33Speaker 3: V Gihon's going off. Let's go more?
- 33:35Speaker 2: Okay, what not?
- 33:37Speaker 1: So this is what you can do with DraftKings Pick six.

- 34:20Speaker 1: Next up, our talk with Matt Castle. He was actually
- 34:22Speaker 1: here this morning. I didn't know what to expect with Matt.
- 34:25Speaker 1: It was awesome, funny dude, just energy stories. Matt played
- 34:31Speaker 1: for the Patriots, the Chiefs, the Cowboys, a few others.
- 34:34Speaker 1: You can check them out now as a Big ten
- 34:35Speaker 1: football analyst on NBC Sports. Here he is Matt Castle
- 34:40Speaker 1: in studio with Matt Castle. What game did you do
- 34:42Speaker 1: this weekend?
- 34:42Speaker 2: I went out to UCLA and we had the Indiana
- 34:45Speaker 2: UCLA game this weekend.
- 34:47Speaker 1: What's do you think you could play in college right now?
- 34:50Speaker 1: I would love to play, like if if let's say
- 34:53Speaker 1: it doesn't matter which school it could be USC if
- 34:55Speaker 1: they call it some Matt. We just found out you're
- 34:59Speaker 1: the only player ever to be given one extra year
- 35:01Speaker 1: after your NFL career. Do you think you could play
- 35:04Speaker 1: to right now in college with I don't know how
- 35:09Speaker 1: old you are now, thirty nine? How old are you
- 35:11Speaker 1: forty two guys? But I appreciate that right there. You
- 35:14Speaker 1: love thirty nine thirty nine.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I'll take that all day long.
- 35:17Speaker 1: You think you could read enough defenses and still be
- 35:19Speaker 1: super effective in college?
- 35:20Speaker 2: One hundred percent? I mean it's one of those situations
- 35:23Speaker 2: where that's what I did for fourteen years, you know
- 35:25Speaker 2: what I mean, And so I could go in there now.
- 35:28Speaker 2: I might be a little bit rusty my movement patterns
- 35:30Speaker 2: inside the pocket, feeling the rush. You know, that's the
- 35:33Speaker 2: thing that people don't really understand when you take time away.
- 35:37Speaker 2: The biggest adjustment is coming back and being able to
- 35:40Speaker 2: feel the game, particularly in the pocket when somebody's running
- 35:42Speaker 2: at you. They've got a head start and you've got
- 35:45Speaker 2: to move in that pocket and still keep your eyes
- 35:47Speaker 2: downfield and keep focused. But in terms of deciphering what
- 35:50Speaker 2: the defense is doing. And it's also interesting to watch
- 35:53Speaker 2: the college games now because when I started covering college
- 35:57Speaker 2: football last year for the first time. There's a lot
- 35:59Speaker 2: of different nuances now in terms of scheme, like they
- 36:02Speaker 2: run this three three five, which when I and I
- 36:06Speaker 2: was in the pros, you rarely see it. But really
- 36:09Speaker 2: what it does is put an extra dB on the
- 36:10Speaker 2: field that's really more of a hybrid linebacker dB, and
- 36:14Speaker 2: so they can create different variations and be very multiple
- 36:17Speaker 2: on the defensive side of the ball. So it's challenging,
- 36:20Speaker 2: I'd say more so now for these quarterbacks and these
- 36:23Speaker 2: guys that play the game in college football, because you
- 36:26Speaker 2: really have to be locked in on what they're doing
- 36:28Speaker 2: schematically to understand where you need to go first with
- 36:31Speaker 2: your read, because they try to confuse you and give
- 36:33Speaker 2: you pre snap looks and you're like, wait, what the
- 36:36Speaker 2: hell is this? Who's this guy? Who's this guy? So
- 36:38Speaker 2: it's interesting. It's a challenge though.
- 36:40Speaker 1: You think you could throw now fifty now, yes, fifty
- 36:45Speaker 1: completion rup h yeah.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Hell yeah with all the slip screens and the hey, coach,
- 36:50Speaker 2: hook me up with a few screens early, get me
- 36:52Speaker 2: into a little rhythm, give me that easy flat, let
- 36:54Speaker 2: me move the pocket, you know, a little play action.
- 36:56Speaker 2: I absolutely believe I could get fifty percent in there.
- 36:59Speaker 1: You think these guys is now because of what you're
- 37:01Speaker 1: talking about, like more defensive backs on the It's happened
- 37:04Speaker 1: in the NFL too, right.
- 37:05Speaker 2: It does. I mean the majority of these teams that
- 37:09Speaker 2: are in eleven personnel, which is three wide receiver sets,
- 37:12Speaker 2: you're normally in some kind of personnel group on the
- 37:14Speaker 2: opposite side of the ball with an extra dB in
- 37:16Speaker 2: the game because you're not gonna want a linebacker that's
- 37:18Speaker 2: two forty five trying to cover down on a slot
- 37:21Speaker 2: receiver with the quickness and everything else that they're able
- 37:23Speaker 2: to generate.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Do you feel too that that's why the linebacker is
- 37:27Speaker 1: we'll say less valued, is because now the common linebacker
- 37:32Speaker 1: that we grew up watching, right, you have to cover
- 37:35Speaker 1: somebody and maybe the Ray Lewis that's a bad example,
- 37:39Speaker 1: can't cover one of these wide receivers or tied end
- 37:42Speaker 1: split out wide right.
- 37:43Speaker 2: And that's part of it, which when you watch a
- 37:45Speaker 2: guy like Fred Warner right for the forty nine ers,
- 37:48Speaker 2: I think he's the best linebacker in the game. But
- 37:50Speaker 2: he can cover in space, he can run sideline to sideline,
- 37:53Speaker 2: he's violent, he's physical, he's all those things. But those
- 37:56Speaker 2: guys are few and far between. So, like you just said,
- 37:59Speaker 2: when we grew up and it was a full back
- 38:02Speaker 2: in the backfield or two big tight ends and you're
- 38:04Speaker 2: running downhill, well, the importance of having that guy that
- 38:08Speaker 2: could go fill the hole and fill the gap and
- 38:10Speaker 2: come take on alignment or a big fullback was much
- 38:13Speaker 2: different than what the game is now because what they
- 38:15Speaker 2: want to try to do is get you in space, right,
- 38:17Speaker 2: they want to use the whole entire field, the vertical stretch,
- 38:21Speaker 2: the hordes, so if you can't cover down on a
- 38:23Speaker 2: tight end, and the way in which these offenses now
- 38:26Speaker 2: are so they're like they're a level ahead just in
- 38:31Speaker 2: terms of the offensive coordinators and stuff like that of
- 38:33Speaker 2: trying to create those mismatches, because every week that's what
- 38:36Speaker 2: we would do. We would go in and say, where's
- 38:38Speaker 2: their weakness. Is it a cornerback? Can we somehow isolate
- 38:41Speaker 2: this safety who's a little bit stiff, not good in space?
- 38:44Speaker 2: Can we isolate him on our tight end who we
- 38:48Speaker 2: know is a pretty good player, and then attack that mismatch, right,
- 38:52Speaker 2: And that's what they're always trying to do. So those
- 38:53Speaker 2: linebackers that can do both and have the skill level
- 38:56Speaker 2: to run sideline the sideline, that's what makes them super.
- 39:00Speaker 1: When you were a kid growing up in California, who
- 39:02Speaker 1: was your team?
- 39:03Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting. My mom's from Cincinnati, Ohio, and
- 39:06Speaker 2: that was in the heyday with like Boomersias and that's quarterback.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Growing up, I was, yeah, yeah, he's lefty, and so
- 39:13Speaker 2: we grew up watching him. My dad was from Lubbock, Texas.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Shout out to Lubbock. Not a lot of things other
- 39:18Speaker 2: than out there, but when when I grew up, it
- 39:24Speaker 2: was also the Dallas Cowboys, Treke and Michael or Van,
- 39:27Speaker 2: Emmitt Smith, j Nova check like that. I remember one
- 39:31Speaker 2: time for Christmas, my mom all I wanted was one
- 39:33Speaker 2: of those like old school starter jackets. I lived in
- 39:36Speaker 2: California too. I don't know what the hell is it
- 39:39Speaker 2: todd his hell out there.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I'm like, I just I want the fool.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean it was this full zip up.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I go to the park. Later on that Christmas Day
- 39:49Speaker 2: we went to go get some energy out with my brothers.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Left it on the bench literally literally Christmas Day. Somebody
- 39:55Speaker 2: took it. Lost my but it was probably better for me.
- 39:58Speaker 2: And how he can sweat in the jacket and I
- 40:00Speaker 2: don't have to.
- 40:01Speaker 1: So your favorite NFL team as a kid was a.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Cowboy, I'd have to say the Cowboys, especially like that
- 40:07Speaker 2: was the nineties.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Was they were winning?
- 40:09Speaker 2: Yet they're winning three Super Bowls? I mean that was
- 40:12Speaker 2: their dynasty. Right?
- 40:13Speaker 1: What about college? Did you have a college team or
- 40:15Speaker 1: was college football not really dominant in southern California?
- 40:18Speaker 2: Right? College football really wasn't that dominant. So growing up, yes,
- 40:21Speaker 2: you had your local teams with the UCLA USC But
- 40:24Speaker 2: this is the other kicker. My grandfather who's still live today,
- 40:27Speaker 2: one and one years old, wow, went to Notre Dame.
- 40:30Speaker 2: My uncles went to Notre Dame, and so really growing
- 40:33Speaker 2: up we're a big Notre Dame family because the Irish
- 40:35Speaker 2: were the Irish Lou Holtz, that whole deal, and and
- 40:39Speaker 2: my first football game I went to. My grandfather took
- 40:42Speaker 2: me to a game at the Coliseum and I got
- 40:44Speaker 2: to see Lou Holtz and the whole crew, rocket Ishmile
- 40:46Speaker 2: and those guys play, and of course Notre Dame ended
- 40:48Speaker 2: up winning, and I was actually there as a Notre
- 40:50Speaker 2: Dame fan at the time. And then when I committed
- 40:52Speaker 2: to USC, I got disowned by majority of my family
- 40:55Speaker 2: on that side, but I had to explain. I was like, look,
- 40:57Speaker 2: Davies runs the option. I'm not much of an guy here.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I'm not gonna go down the line of scrimms, get
- 41:02Speaker 2: my head beat in to flip the ball to the
- 41:03Speaker 2: running back. I'm gonna try to stay inside the pocket.
- 41:06Speaker 1: So who are your final teams when you were recruited
- 41:08Speaker 1: going to college?
- 41:09Speaker 2: Well, I was recruited by a bunch of teams. I
- 41:11Speaker 2: think my finals were USC, Tennessee, Miami was really what
- 41:17Speaker 2: it kind of came down to. UCLA had a shot
- 41:19Speaker 2: in there. I just and then ultimately I chose going
- 41:22Speaker 2: to USC because at the time when I was going
- 41:25Speaker 2: through that process, Carson Palmer was there, and when I committed,
- 41:29Speaker 2: I think he was a true sophomore, so I thought
- 41:32Speaker 2: I'd go there sit for a year. He actually ended
- 41:34Speaker 2: up getting hurt that year, so he saved a year,
- 41:37Speaker 2: and everybody was projecting him to leave early, right, I mean,
- 41:40Speaker 2: the guy was an absolute stud, and so I ended
- 41:43Speaker 2: up sticking with my commitment to USC and backed him
- 41:47Speaker 2: up for three years before a Linehart took over and
- 41:51Speaker 2: I didn't get to play the two heisman two heisman.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Back to back man do you think you would have
- 41:54Speaker 1: transferred if it had been as easy.
- 41:56Speaker 2: I think it definitely would have played into the conversation
- 41:59Speaker 2: a lot more and probably give me a better opportunity
- 42:02Speaker 2: to go to a school that I wanted to because
- 42:04Speaker 2: back then it was you go. If you transferre to
- 42:05Speaker 2: another D one program, you sit out a year, you know,
- 42:09Speaker 2: And that was the toughest commitment because I also thought
- 42:12Speaker 2: education was a really important aspect of it. That's why
- 42:14Speaker 2: I went to USC living in LA and the connections
- 42:17Speaker 2: that you have in the longevity that like, look, at
- 42:20Speaker 2: that point in my career, I was like, gosh, okay,
- 42:23Speaker 2: I'm not the starter. I need to have a backup plan.
- 42:26Speaker 2: And I was going out doing internships and all that stuff,
- 42:28Speaker 2: and I just thought, us, you gave me the best
- 42:30Speaker 2: opportunity from an education standpoint to stay and just ride
- 42:33Speaker 2: the thing out.
- 42:34Speaker 1: So what do you think you would have done had
- 42:36Speaker 1: you not gone to the league.
- 42:37Speaker 2: It's interesting. So I was a little bit frustrated after
- 42:40Speaker 2: that red shirt junior year when you know, because you
- 42:43Speaker 2: want to play and I was in that catch twenty two.
- 42:45Speaker 2: So I went out and joined the baseball team. I
- 42:47Speaker 2: played baseball, was recruited by coach Gillespie going there. So
- 42:49Speaker 2: I was like, screwing, I'm getting a spring ball because
- 42:52Speaker 2: spring ball sucks when you're just sitting there. And so
- 42:56Speaker 2: I went and I said, hey, Coach Gillespie, look, I
- 43:00Speaker 2: would be a free scholarship. I don't know if I
- 43:01Speaker 2: can still do it, but if I can help you
- 43:03Speaker 2: any capacity, He's like, what do you want to do?
- 43:04Speaker 2: And I thought the easiest transition would just be pitching
- 43:07Speaker 2: because my arm was in shape. So I went out
- 43:08Speaker 2: and threw a bullpen through as hard as I possibly could,
- 43:11Speaker 2: and he's like, all right, I think you can help Yeah,
- 43:14Speaker 2: join the team. So the coolest part about that whole
- 43:17Speaker 2: experience to open up the year we went to Cuba
- 43:21Speaker 2: for a tournament. I don't know how the hell they
- 43:23Speaker 2: pulled this thing off when nobody went to Cuba. Nobody
- 43:25Speaker 2: went to Cuba, right, Yeah, they hadn't left in the
- 43:27Speaker 2: embargo nothing. And so I'm like, I mean, we got
- 43:29Speaker 2: to see Fidel Castro come down in a parade. WHOA.
- 43:33Speaker 2: During the day, we stayed at the Hotel National Downtown
- 43:36Speaker 2: on the sixteenth floor. You're you're there, You're going into
- 43:39Speaker 2: the Koheba factories. I was like, this is amazing. We
- 43:42Speaker 2: got to the hotel, they're giving us bottles of rum
- 43:44Speaker 2: when we're like twenty year old kids in our room.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Twenty year age. I mean, we were down there for
- 43:47Speaker 2: a whole week, and so we got to go up
- 43:49Speaker 2: and down the coast and play in these different providences
- 43:52Speaker 2: and see just that country is amazing. It's beautiful.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Do you feel safe?
- 43:56Speaker 2: Completely safe? It was amazing. And you know what was
- 44:00Speaker 2: the most amazing part was our bus driver and our guide.
- 44:04Speaker 2: These guys spoke five languages, like they're so well educated.
- 44:07Speaker 2: But again, at the end of the trip, all of
- 44:09Speaker 2: us chipped in however much we did to give him
- 44:12Speaker 2: as a thank you, and he starts crying. He says,
- 44:14Speaker 2: this is more than I make in two years. You know,
- 44:16Speaker 2: it's just it was a different experience and you kind
- 44:20Speaker 2: of just respect what we have too here and just
- 44:23Speaker 2: the different cultural changes. But it was beautiful, cobblestone cobblestone roads,
- 44:28Speaker 2: and just the beauty of the different way in which
- 44:32Speaker 2: the buildings and the different colors and all this stuff.
- 44:35Speaker 2: It was pretty majestic.
- 44:36Speaker 1: When you finish at USC like, you get an agent?
- 44:40Speaker 1: Did you get an agent?
- 44:41Speaker 2: I'm assuming this is the fun This is another funny story.
- 44:44Speaker 2: I mean I started, I went out and I went
- 44:47Speaker 2: to the pro day, and it sparked some interest because
- 44:49Speaker 2: I threw the ball well and I thought I had
- 44:51Speaker 2: physical ability, but again I didn't have any film. I
- 44:53Speaker 2: threw thirty three passes in all of college, and so
- 44:58Speaker 2: so then I'm sitting there, I'm like, gosh, I'm starting
- 45:00Speaker 2: to get phone calls, drafts getting kind of close. Maybe
- 45:04Speaker 2: I should So you didn't have an agent. I didn't
- 45:06Speaker 2: have an agent because there's no interest. Nobody's sitting there going, hey,
- 45:08Speaker 2: let's get the backup quarterback that it's never started a
- 45:10Speaker 2: game in college. So I called Carson Palmer, who was
- 45:13Speaker 2: my roommate in college, and I said, hey, did you
- 45:16Speaker 2: think he can call your agent and have him represent me?
- 45:18Speaker 2: And he does, Yeah, I don't worry, I'll call you tomorrow.
- 45:21Speaker 2: And he was the first overall pick, so he had
- 45:23Speaker 2: some weight. So he calls Dave Dad. He calls Dave
- 45:25Speaker 2: done and says, hey, didn't I need to represent my buddy. Dave,
- 45:28Speaker 2: to his credit from Athletes, first calls me the next
- 45:30Speaker 2: day and says, hey, man, I see it going something
- 45:33Speaker 2: like an AJ feely AJ Feeley sorted a little bit,
- 45:35Speaker 2: but he didn't play much, but he still got in
- 45:37Speaker 2: with the Eagles and then it went from there and
- 45:41Speaker 2: he represented me going into the draft.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Did you think because you got drafted the seventh round, right,
- 45:46Speaker 1: I did. Did you think you would get drafted? What
- 45:47Speaker 1: were you hearing from teams?
- 45:49Speaker 2: Honestly, I didn't think there was a chance in hell
- 45:51Speaker 2: anybody was going to draft me and use a draft
- 45:52Speaker 2: pick on somebody that wasn't proven. And the interesting part
- 45:56Speaker 2: about the process was I had workouts with the Bengals,
- 45:59Speaker 2: San Diego, charge Oakland. None of the teams were the Patriots.
- 46:03Speaker 2: And so the final day of the draft, I was
- 46:06Speaker 2: heading down to my agency's like because free agency is
- 46:09Speaker 2: gonna happen pretty quickly. And I went down there. I'm
- 46:13Speaker 2: sitting there with at the time, my girlfriend, but she
- 46:16Speaker 2: became my wife. We've been together for a long time,
- 46:18Speaker 2: and uh, We're sitting on this couch and we'll start
- 46:21Speaker 2: taking some phone calls and all of a sudden, I like,
- 46:24Speaker 2: somebody's on the line for you, and so I was like,
- 46:26Speaker 2: I pick it up and it's coach Belichick and he's like,
- 46:29Speaker 2: Matt does Coach Belichick? I just want to welcome you
- 46:32Speaker 2: to the New England Patriots. I said, I said, come on,
- 46:35Speaker 2: are you being serious right now? Is somebody messing with
- 46:37Speaker 2: me right? And he's like, no, no, I'm not messing
- 46:40Speaker 2: with you. You're not gonna be the next pick in
- 46:42Speaker 2: the NFL draft. Congratulations, We're happy to have you. And
- 46:45Speaker 2: I was like, so I ran in the other room.
- 46:47Speaker 2: My wife's sitting on the couch and the TV's on.
- 46:49Speaker 2: I was like, watch, She's like flipping through everything. She's like,
- 46:53Speaker 2: she's like, uh, you haven't come up yet.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Bro.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I was like, watch the sprite the ticker and my
- 47:00Speaker 4: name comes up and they're like USC And the funny
- 47:03Speaker 4: part was watching these commentators sitt there, go h Matt Cashle,
- 47:08Speaker 4: what the hell is going on here?
- 47:10Speaker 2: Like they didn't have anything to say, no stats to read.
- 47:13Speaker 2: I mean literally, my junior year, I was on special teams,
- 47:15Speaker 2: playing tight end at the end of that year because
- 47:17Speaker 2: we had some injuries, and Carol asked me to come.
- 47:19Speaker 2: So I'm an kickoff return and the wedge getting blown
- 47:23Speaker 2: up with quarterback pads on. I'm like, this is terrible.
- 47:26Speaker 1: So you then, what is your what does Belichick say
- 47:29Speaker 1: your role is going to be what is what's his
- 47:31Speaker 1: ceiling in his mind for you? When you joined the Patriots,
- 47:34Speaker 1: you know.
- 47:35Speaker 2: They brought me in as a quarterback, and Scott Pioli
- 47:38Speaker 2: and some of these guys. Scott Pely was the head
- 47:41Speaker 2: of personnel there. He had actually called the morning of
- 47:43Speaker 2: the draft and said, hey, look, if we take a quarterback,
- 47:46Speaker 2: we're going to take you, or we'd love you to
- 47:48Speaker 2: consider us for free agency. And so they always envisioned
- 47:51Speaker 2: me as coming in and competing at quarterback. And so
- 47:54Speaker 2: when I got there, of course they put up the
- 47:55Speaker 2: depth chart and it's Tom Brady, Rohan Davy, Chris Redman,
- 48:00Speaker 2: Doug Flutie and then I'm low man on the totem pole. Right,
- 48:03Speaker 2: I'm like, oh shit, I got some work to do.
- 48:05Speaker 2: But it was an intimidating environment. They just had come
- 48:09Speaker 2: off three Super Bowls in four years, right, And so
- 48:11Speaker 2: of course Brady walks up the first day and I
- 48:13Speaker 2: instrotroduced myself, Hi, Matt Castle, mister Brady. He goes, don't
- 48:16Speaker 2: call me mister Brady, call me Tommy. I was like,
- 48:18Speaker 2: what a week week introduction. They might just cut me
- 48:22Speaker 2: just based on the fact I can't deal with this
- 48:23Speaker 2: nerd the entire time. You know, you're just sitting there
- 48:26Speaker 2: going ah. But I just kind of went in there
- 48:29Speaker 2: and kept my head down. And it was really the
- 48:32Speaker 2: process of learning the offense early on because it was
- 48:35Speaker 2: a very detail oriented process, a lot of checks, but
- 48:38Speaker 2: the quarterback also handled everything at the line of screaming.
- 48:41Speaker 2: So Mike identification. When I say Mike identification, I mean
- 48:44Speaker 2: you set the protections for the offense alignment, but that
- 48:46Speaker 2: could constantly change check with mes. And it was wordy
- 48:49Speaker 2: too in terms of how we called formations, like we
- 48:53Speaker 2: for instance, we had F shift to zero out slot
- 48:56Speaker 2: alert zip jab one thirty cross X go alert Samurai
- 49:00Speaker 2: And I'm sitting there and then you got to get
- 49:02Speaker 2: the double cadence in right, And I'm sitting there trying
- 49:04Speaker 2: to learn this stuff. And there was times when I'd
- 49:07Speaker 2: walk up to the line of scrimmage in seven on
- 49:09Speaker 2: seven then forget what the hell I just called in
- 49:11Speaker 2: the huddle. I'm like, just somebody pop open, just somebody
- 49:13Speaker 2: pop open. But I competed and then they gave me
- 49:17Speaker 2: an opportunity in preseason, and really for coach Belichick, he
- 49:21Speaker 2: said it when you walk in the door, he said, look,
- 49:23Speaker 2: I don't determine your role. You determine your role. We're
- 49:27Speaker 2: going to choose the best guys that give us an opportunity,
- 49:29Speaker 2: that are accountable, that are going to go out there
- 49:31Speaker 2: week in a week out, work hard, and then if
- 49:34Speaker 2: you get your opportunity to play, that's when you've got
- 49:35Speaker 2: to step up. So that gave me hope, right, And
- 49:38Speaker 2: then I got that opportunity in the first preseason game
- 49:40Speaker 2: and I played three quarters. I played really well, and
- 49:43Speaker 2: I even surprised myself because you never know until you
- 49:45Speaker 2: get that opportunity what's exactly going to happen when you
- 49:49Speaker 2: step on the field. The lights come on and you
- 49:51Speaker 2: get to play. And I understand it's preseason there's a
- 49:53Speaker 2: lot of backups, but I'm not gonna lie. I was
- 49:55Speaker 2: pumping my chest a little bit. I felt pretty good
- 49:57Speaker 2: about that performance. The best the this was after the game,
- 50:01Speaker 2: like some reporter came up to me. This was my
- 50:02Speaker 2: first first interview ever on the field, and I told
- 50:05Speaker 2: him exactly what the defense did. I said, Oh, they
- 50:07Speaker 2: went blit zero. So I checked the protection. Seven man
- 50:10Speaker 2: protection signaled the hitch. The guy caught it, broke a tackle,
- 50:13Speaker 2: went in. So the next day, I get a call
- 50:16Speaker 2: from Bear's like, hey, will you come in This is
- 50:18Speaker 2: his This is Coach Belichick's main assistant. And so I
- 50:23Speaker 2: go into his office. I thought Coach was going to
- 50:25Speaker 2: give me a little pat on the back. Good job, Bud, like,
- 50:29Speaker 2: and I get in there and goes Castle, just shut
- 50:31Speaker 2: the fuck. He's like, god, I mean, you tell him
- 50:35Speaker 2: every everything they don't know. I thought about Blitz there.
- 50:40Speaker 2: I'm sitting there going, oh, this is not what I
- 50:42Speaker 2: had just for future reference. Just just don't say shit, okay,
- 50:48Speaker 2: all right, go get out here. I was like, I
- 50:51Speaker 2: just walked down there with my tail but to my leg,
- 50:53Speaker 2: just going, oh man.
- 50:54Speaker 1: When that season starts, where were you on the depth chart?
- 50:56Speaker 1: Were you automatically two or did you go from five
- 50:59Speaker 1: to three? They kind of couple of guys.
- 51:00Speaker 2: That's exactly what happened. So Rowan Davey had been the
- 51:03Speaker 2: backup there. They brought in Doug Flutie, who was forty
- 51:05Speaker 2: one at the time. Awesome dude drove up the first day.
- 51:09Speaker 2: I knew I was gonna like him because he had
- 51:10Speaker 2: a nineteen eighty transam with an eagle painted on the front,
- 51:14Speaker 2: and I was like, Dude, this is throwback here. So
- 51:17Speaker 2: we had Doug Flutie, who was forty one, great guy,
- 51:20Speaker 2: and then we had Chris Redman, who was a veteran
- 51:22Speaker 2: quarterback played at Louisville and then had been around the
- 51:24Speaker 2: league for a little while. And then it was myself
- 51:27Speaker 2: and then as the offseason progressed, Chris got released. Before
- 51:32Speaker 2: we started preseason, Rohan Daviy Rowan Daviy had been there.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Obviously Doug was still there, and so we kind of
- 51:39Speaker 2: split time. They gave me a lot of opportunities in
- 51:41Speaker 2: preseason to play, and so when it all came down,
- 51:44Speaker 2: it was the final cut. After the last preseason game,
- 51:47Speaker 2: they released ug. I mean they released Rowan, Davey kept
- 51:50Speaker 2: Doug as the two, and I was the three. And
- 51:53Speaker 2: I was like I came in because you know, those
- 51:55Speaker 2: are the most nervous moments for any player, when you're
- 51:58Speaker 2: on the CUSP and you don't know what's your future,
- 52:00Speaker 2: your holds. You're also like you're seven round draft pick,
- 52:03Speaker 2: you don't know where it's going to go. And just
- 52:05Speaker 2: walk in the locker room. I didn't get a call.
- 52:08Speaker 2: I'm sitting there kind of nervous, and so I see
- 52:11Speaker 2: my locker and this is the first time because they
- 52:13Speaker 2: have these temporary lockers that they bring in for the rookies,
- 52:16Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden, that was the first
- 52:17Speaker 2: time I actually had a real locker in the locker room.
- 52:20Speaker 2: And I was like, I think I made And I
- 52:24Speaker 2: was like, I just slowly call it.
- 52:27Speaker 5: I think I made that.
- 52:28Speaker 2: I started calling my family and I was like, you know,
- 52:31Speaker 2: it's just one of those moments that I've been through
- 52:34Speaker 2: a lot of adversity throughout my college career. I always
- 52:37Speaker 2: felt like I could had the ability to do so
- 52:40Speaker 2: just didn't. It didn't come to fruition when I was playing,
- 52:44Speaker 2: and then to walk in in that moment, it was
- 52:46Speaker 2: just surreal to sit there and I had a locker
- 52:48Speaker 2: right next to the brady and I'm sitting there going, man,
- 52:51Speaker 2: I'm on an NFL roster. I made it. Out of
- 52:54Speaker 2: all the different odds and not starting college and all
- 52:57Speaker 2: that stuff, that was a pretty special moment.
- 52:59Speaker 1: How do you stay hyper focused whenever you may not
- 53:03Speaker 1: get to play and use that focus.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great question, and I guess you can
- 53:10Speaker 2: never really let your guard down, and you kind of
- 53:12Speaker 2: go into every week with the purpose of preparing over
- 53:18Speaker 2: preparing almost to a certain extent, because as a backup quarterback,
- 53:21Speaker 2: you don't get a lot of reps, and so you've
- 53:23Speaker 2: got to be mentally honed in. And also you know
- 53:27Speaker 2: that this is your opportunity. So if it does come up,
- 53:30Speaker 2: which I've been waiting for a long time, everybody's like,
- 53:32Speaker 2: you're one play away. Well, that one play away never
- 53:34Speaker 2: came from me. I was like, when's this play gonna come?
- 53:37Speaker 2: But it's hard at times. I mean, I'm not gonna
- 53:40Speaker 2: lie to you to sit there and go through year
- 53:42Speaker 2: after year and you're sitting there waiting to get on
- 53:44Speaker 2: that field and waiting to get your opportunity. But the
- 53:46Speaker 2: only thing that I could say is I had a
- 53:48Speaker 2: front row seat to the best to ever play the game.
- 53:50Speaker 2: His preparation was unreal. He was meticulous. We'd go into
- 53:55Speaker 2: Saturday night meetings before games, we go through the call
- 53:57Speaker 2: sheet three times, and he would go through reads and
- 54:00Speaker 2: he say it out loud. And so I got this
- 54:02Speaker 2: front row seat to listen to how to be a professional,
- 54:05Speaker 2: to watch it on a daily basis, to watch him
- 54:08Speaker 2: be the first guy in the building. And we became
- 54:11Speaker 2: workout partners throughout that first season and ever, that entire
- 54:15Speaker 2: time I was there, we're the first people there working
- 54:18Speaker 2: out and so, and then also how he took care
- 54:20Speaker 2: of his body. So I got to see all these things.
- 54:23Speaker 2: I got to emulate some. Obviously you got to be
- 54:25Speaker 2: your own self. But then when my time finally did
- 54:28Speaker 2: come that fourth year, it was like I knew the offense.
- 54:33Speaker 2: I understood the offense, and then I could make the
- 54:36Speaker 2: checks at the line of skimmage and so there wasn't
- 54:38Speaker 2: a lot of thinking going on. And I think that
- 54:40Speaker 2: was a huge benefit for me is I got to
- 54:43Speaker 2: wait and watch, learn, see everything, but also understand all
- 54:47Speaker 2: those little nuances. So then now was just reacting. And
- 54:50Speaker 2: I think that's when quarterbacks play at their best, is
- 54:52Speaker 2: when you're reacting, see react, and not thinking about all
- 54:55Speaker 2: the n at the line of scrimmage and trying to
- 54:58Speaker 2: figure out, oh gosh, did I make the right mind
- 55:00Speaker 2: point that I where's my hot where's my side of
- 55:03Speaker 2: just you're just you're up there, operating at a high
- 55:05Speaker 2: level and you're just going well.
- 55:07Speaker 1: When he gets hurt and you're the starter and you
- 55:09Speaker 1: start to really play well, does does he call you
- 55:11Speaker 1: and be like, hey, let's go good job, Like how
- 55:14Speaker 1: does it? What's that relationship?
- 55:15Speaker 2: Like, Well, we had such a great relationship while I
- 55:17Speaker 2: was there. I was like a little brother and he's
- 55:19Speaker 2: like a big brother, even though I'd kick his ass
- 55:20Speaker 2: and I'll still tell him that. But here's supportive, uh,
- 55:24Speaker 2: super supportive, like a guy that would call me one
- 55:26Speaker 2: of the first calls i'd get after the game and
- 55:29Speaker 2: talk through certain things that he might have seen or
- 55:31Speaker 2: might have done a little different.
- 55:32Speaker 1: And he was still like involved watching the game too.
- 55:35Speaker 1: He wasn't just like, hey, good job. He was talking
- 55:37Speaker 1: about what you just went through.
- 55:38Speaker 2: Right, He's like, Hey, if you ever see them go
- 55:40Speaker 2: cover seven. Cover seven's a bracket coverage two high safety,
- 55:43Speaker 2: but with the one person that they don't account for
- 55:45Speaker 2: is me in the run game. So if because they're
- 55:48Speaker 2: really playing man coverage underneath, but they're making these doubles,
- 55:51Speaker 2: He's like, hey, if they do that ever again, hey
- 55:54Speaker 2: use your legs take off. Like he'll see stuff like
- 55:56Speaker 2: that the way that he sees the game, even watching
- 55:59Speaker 2: it from Afar because he was in LA at the
- 56:01Speaker 2: time with the knee surgery. They had complications all the
- 56:03Speaker 2: different stuff that was going on. But he was super supportive.
- 56:07Speaker 2: But I also feel like it was a blessing for
- 56:09Speaker 2: him not to be in the building every single day,
- 56:12Speaker 2: because again, that's Tom Brady. He's the leader of the team,
- 56:14Speaker 2: he's a franchise. It allowed me to grow as a leader,
- 56:17Speaker 2: for guys to look to me for that leadership and
- 56:20Speaker 2: see me as the quarterback of that team.
- 56:22Speaker 1: You think that helped you when you went to Kansas
- 56:23Speaker 1: City because you then did have a little bit of
- 56:26Speaker 1: I'm the leader of an NFL team without somebody looking
- 56:28Speaker 1: over my shoulder.
- 56:29Speaker 2: I do to a certain extent. I think that there
- 56:31Speaker 2: was a lot of wholesale changes when I got there.
- 56:33Speaker 2: You know, we were in a rebuilding process and it
- 56:36Speaker 2: was a brand new system. And so when you come
- 56:38Speaker 2: up in that New England system, it's so buttoned up.
- 56:41Speaker 2: There's so much preparation. It starts in the offseason, and
- 56:45Speaker 2: we go through so many different things, and there was
- 56:47Speaker 2: just a different It was a new voice and I
- 56:50Speaker 2: hadn't been around that for four years, and so the
- 56:53Speaker 2: way that they taught it in New England that might
- 56:56Speaker 2: be completely different under Chan Gaily and his system and
- 56:59Speaker 2: how they did it. And so it was adapting and
- 57:02Speaker 2: there's times, I'm sure for every quarterback that when you're
- 57:05Speaker 2: comfortable in a system and you go through something that
- 57:07Speaker 2: you fight it a little bit like why are we
- 57:08Speaker 2: doing this? Why can't we do this? And you've just
- 57:11Speaker 2: got to try to jump one hundred percent in and
- 57:16Speaker 2: absorb as much as you can with these new offenses
- 57:19Speaker 2: that you're in. Because I was in a lot, I
- 57:20Speaker 2: had a lot of different coordinators once I left New England.
- 57:23Speaker 2: So when I was in New England had Josh McDaniels.
- 57:25Speaker 2: First year we had Chan Gailey. He got fired a
- 57:28Speaker 2: week before season. It was perfect timing. Oh god it no,
- 57:32Speaker 2: it wasn't. Todd Haley takes over, but his system was
- 57:37Speaker 2: kind of a little bit more similar to what we
- 57:39Speaker 2: did in New England, but we hadn't been practicing that,
- 57:41Speaker 2: but he was going to call play, so we switched
- 57:43Speaker 2: the offensive terminology, the verbious changing, yeah, the verbide change,
- 57:47Speaker 2: all that stuff. Next year, Charlie Weiss came in and
- 57:50Speaker 2: he had been in New England, so we hit it
- 57:52Speaker 2: off and that was my most successful year there. Then
- 57:54Speaker 2: Charlie wife Weiss leaves. They bring in Jim Zorn from Sea.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Now that's a West coast system. Next year they had
- 58:05Speaker 2: Brian Dayball came in, he changed went to West Coast
- 58:08Speaker 2: System and it was like a hybrid. And then I
- 58:10Speaker 2: went to Minnesota and so like I had two different
- 58:14Speaker 2: coordinators in Minnesota. Then I get traded to Buffalo and
- 58:16Speaker 2: Dallas in the same year. So it was like a
- 58:19Speaker 2: myriad of different things going on in my mind because
- 58:22Speaker 2: con conceptually, a lot of people have similar concepts, but
- 58:25Speaker 2: how they call it, how they see the field, how
- 58:27Speaker 2: they want you to read it can all be different
- 58:29Speaker 2: because it's different voices and just different understandings of how
- 58:33Speaker 2: they want to get it done.
- 58:34Speaker 1: So do you look at a guy like Justin Herbert
- 58:35Speaker 1: and say his growth possibly has been stunted a bit
- 58:38Speaker 1: because he's had to change coordinators every single year, Like,
- 58:41Speaker 1: do you think with consistency he would be significantly better
- 58:45Speaker 1: than he is now?
- 58:46Speaker 2: There's no doubt, I mean, and I think that that's
- 58:49Speaker 2: interesting when you look at some of the quarterbacks that
- 58:52Speaker 2: have the most success, they're in a system and they
- 58:54Speaker 2: can build off that system. And I'm not saying that
- 58:56Speaker 2: there hasn't been guys that have switched over and had
- 58:58Speaker 2: a lot of success, but I think that that again,
- 59:01Speaker 2: it goes back to what I said earlier about you
- 59:04Speaker 2: have the most success as a quarterback when you're not
- 59:06Speaker 2: thinking at the line of scrimmage. It becomes second nature.
- 59:08Speaker 2: You see a particular coverage or a matchup that you
- 59:12Speaker 2: like and you just say, well, there's split safety here. Okay,
- 59:15Speaker 2: I'm going to get to the back quick because you
- 59:17Speaker 2: just know it in the system like that's we've run
- 59:20Speaker 2: this multiple times. They're going to get a lot of depth.
- 59:22Speaker 2: We're gonna give this guy stay aheaded down and distance.
- 59:24Speaker 2: Whereas there's constantly this second guessing of you here play
- 59:28Speaker 2: and you might it might not register right away just
- 59:31Speaker 2: because of terminology is so different about how it should
- 59:34Speaker 2: be read or where you're going to start with this progression.
- 59:37Speaker 2: And so I think that there's a lot of value
- 59:40Speaker 2: in being within the same system and developing within that
- 59:43Speaker 2: system and the same coordinator.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Do you miss it?
- 59:46Speaker 2: I missed the locker room. I miss the competition on Sundays,
- 59:48Speaker 2: but the locker room in particular, the relationships you build,
- 59:51Speaker 2: those bonds, the amount of time that you spend with
- 59:53Speaker 2: those guys, and then just the shenanigans that take place,
- 59:58Speaker 2: you know. And then the thing I also missed the
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: most is after a victory, getting on that bus with
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: your boys. You just went to battle, and there's nothing
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: quite like sitting there popping open a cold one. They
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: might maybe I don't think they're allowed to do that anymore,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: but we used to, you know, we get a little
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: little We used to have buddies on other teams. If
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: they were the home team, they'd bring us a big
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: thing of cooler, a beer. So sitting there and just
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: going through different stuff that happened in the game, you know,
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: matchups that took place when you got your ass kicked
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: or got blown up, or you made a bad decision.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Laughing about it again after victory is awesome. After a loss,
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: it's not as much fun when you're sitting there going,
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: oh yeah, I did throw two picks.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Sorry, guys, A right, final three questions Eddie, yeah, Matt.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: So when you get sacked, like, how bad does that hurt?
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: It depends, you know, there's some some that look worse
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: and it's kind of how you land right, and then
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: there's others that don't look that bad and that hurt
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: like hell. And then there's the ones where you get
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: like I had woman Clay Matthews get it's a ten
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: yard head start and or running back. I was like,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: you have him in protection, and I see him take
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: off from the second level. I was like, okay, he's
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: gonna get picked up. I'm in shotgun and I'm dropping
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: back and I'm starting to see him get closer. I'm like,
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: when is it? And then the next thing I know,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: he just crushes me in the ribs, knocks the breath
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: out of me. Those hurt like hell. And then it's
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: guy like Hainesworth hitting me. One time he picks me up,
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: body slams me. I thought he broke all my ribs.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: I mean, he got a personal foul. I mean, these guys,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: that's their job, right, is to come and really make
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: you feel it, and you feel it for sure, and
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: it's sometimes not until the next day where you wake
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: up and you go, oh man, that was that was
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: a tough one, you know, But I mean it just
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: kind of depends on when you Sometimes though, in the
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: early part of the game, I like to be in hit,
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: you know, it kind of gets you into the flow
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: of the game. You get hit and you're like, okay,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: we're in the flow of the game. Let's roll.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: So another one interesting, another question, Yeah, take it back yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: I want I want to ask you about just Scott
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: kind of you know, sliding like he looks easy, you know,
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: but how's that decision when you're running and you're like, ooh,
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: I can get that first down.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so hard as a competitor when you're out there, man,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: when you're seeing there, you're looking it down and distance,
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: you know, especially on third down, right third down, you're
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: trying to go get it, extend to drive for your team,
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: and you see these guys constantly going and trying to
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: get it. But that's when problems happen in terms of
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: you're going to take contact and the sliding aspect in general.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: There's been so many different conversations because you know, when
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: I used to see three guys converging and it's first
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: and second down, guess what baseball slide, don't hit me,
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: blow the whistle. But then then there's the times that
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: take over where you're just like you're in the red
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: zone and you're going trying to dive for the pylon.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: You're going for it. And then it wasn't until really
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Jim's Orn. Jim Zorn was one of those guys that
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: he said never slide, you know, like you would a
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: baseball slide, because you expose everything here and that's when
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: these guys are coming in late full force and you
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: see it all the time. These guys just get clipped.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: And he's like, always dive head first because you can
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: kind of protect yourself with a glancing blow or something
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: like that. And so it was interesting because I was
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: really the first time I had heard you want me
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: to do what? But he's like, that's how you protect
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: yourself because you can kind of at least avoid contact
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: or at least take a glancing blow instead of exposing
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: everything and just making you know, getting crushed. And you
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: see that a lot too.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Last question, how do you feel now when you if
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: it's cold, do you hurt? Are you good?
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: No? You know what, I feel pretty good, man. I
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: was blessed. I've I've had my injuries and stuff like that,
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: but I stay in shape. I eat pretty well. And
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: so when I say pretty well, don't kid yourself. I'll
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: shove a pizza down my throat and every now and then.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: But I mean, I've got full range of motion. I
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: can go I'll play with my kids, I can go
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: for a run, I can do anything. That I want
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: to do, so I feel very lucky in that circumstance.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: You love the NBC Sports job.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: It's fun, man, it's fun to be out in those environments.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: You know the pageantry of college football and then the
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: history and the rivalries all that stuff. It's ever changing
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: now with all the conference realignment, but I mean to
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: be there and to feel the like when we were
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: in Nebraska last week for that.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: College Colorado game.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that was so kick ass, man. That crowd was
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: raging and just into it the entire game. And you
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: also have to think about they had like three hundred
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: sellouts in a row. They hadn't been to a bowl
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: game since twenty sixteen. But then to feel the energy
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: in that stadium and the excitement because Matt Rule and
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: what he's been able to accomplish. You know, he's just
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: a program builder and he's got that magnetic personality and
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: he's got him rolling right now. So it was awesome.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: So you see that we've been at a like Penn
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: State whiteout game, which was one hundred and ten thousand people.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: I couldn't even hear myself on the sideline. But it's
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: it's those atmospheres that really bring college football life. So
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: it's been been a blast.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: We appreciate you coming by. Yeah, I think that's this
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: has been awesome. I feel like I can play. That's
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: encourage me to keep trying.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm one play away.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Hey, we go the park, Go get it all right?
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Thanks Matt.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Absolutely you think.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: That quarterback will throw for more than three hundred yards?
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Do you think the running back in Philly will have
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: less than one hundred yards? How about the receiver in

- 1:06:44Speaker 1: undred and sixty total yards of Kansas State. Yeah, that
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: was a grand opening, grand closing.
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's battle. Alabama whoped up in Wisconsin. Wisconsin's quarterback
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: went out really early, not that it would have mattered.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: I only watched about a quarter of this. I think
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Wisconsin scores a few more points, but they couldn't stop Alabama. Yeah,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: they were Missouri be Boston College. That pretty good game
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: because Missouri came back. They were down early and I thought,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: oh this could be it and it wasn't. Boston College
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: and Bill O'Brien played tough, but they played at Missouri Missouri.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: When's twenty seven? Twenty one? Oregon whooped up on Oregon State.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Dylan Gabrie had three hundred yards two touchdowns. Boom over

- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Let's little ball State, little card, little burberd, a little
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: head of bird cam Moore probably heisman. I don't know
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: what the odds are now, but two or three. It's
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: gotta be yeah, maybe one. Yeah, Ole Miss whooped up
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: in Wait Forest, Texas whooped up on utsa Quen. You
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: weers went out. We saw that Archie Manning through for
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: four touchdowns. Georgia Kentucky ugly game. Was rooting for Kentucky.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: I think everybody was, not because I hate Georgia, just
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: because you'd like to have seen it. The Kentucky fans
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: were going crazy. Was rooting for him. Tennessee whooped up
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: on kent State that game. They could have scored a hundred.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: They could have scored a hundred.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: What did they scored?
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: It was like fifty to nothing and in a half.
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the first quarter is twenty nothing with
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: like four minutes of I'm like, okay, yeah, yeah, he's
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: seventy one nothing seventy one?
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: Did you see the South Alabama?
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Was that?
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Who was that?
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: They had to shorten the fourth quarter the other night
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: because they were up like eighty seven to ten.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: I did, gosh, So that's your top twenty five. Let's
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: go to the NFL Real quick Bills and Dolphins. This
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: is last to left with a concussion. But that being said,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: the Dolphins, the Bills run the game was done. Seatawks
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: the Patriots a good game. Good game, Kevin, you did
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: good buddy.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Hey thanks. He didn't win, but everyone had fun.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Man Saints swolps. Cowboys is ugly?
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Move on?
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: How about the Bucks? How about the Bucks winning again
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: in Detroit? I mean that's awesome. Packers beat the Colts.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: Malik Willis had had a little touchdown pass right there.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: He didn't look he didn't look great. He didn't look terrible. No,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I thought I had the will Levens too bad. He
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: just left. What's up?
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: Not just the Colts? I mean pretty disappointing.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Anthony Richen did not look.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Jets beat the Titans. Titans with two turnovers. That will
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: have a lot of little fumble flippy backwards.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: What's he?
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: What's he thinking? The Vikings beat the forty nine Ers.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: The Commanders beat the Giants in a game that nobody
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: really wanted to win or lose.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: I was like, this game is still going on.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I know Chargers whipped the Panthers twenty six to three.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: I can go through all of them. But I did
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: watch a bit of the Texans and Bears last night.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Bears struggled. That's okay. C J.
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: Stroud is a dude.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: He's a dude.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Gos.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Steelers won, but I mean the defense won that game.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: But Field's got another with w.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Raiders beat the Ravens. Good game. Raiders were down ten
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I think on the fourth quarter, right, yeah, something like that.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: They came back in one. Bengals and Chiefs. Really good game.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Chiefs win field goal, pass interference. The whole thing happened
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: there at the end. That'll be good for playoffs though,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: right they play again. Yeah, games are always good. Yeah,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: so fun week in the NFL. I do want to
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: read you guys some of this. They have these things
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: called the ig Nobel Winners, not the No About Peace
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Prize and Nobil Prizes.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: But it's like.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: Real random things that happen in science. They give awards
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: to all true, by the way, not made up. So
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: I would I would say it's like the Nobel Prize,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: but for the dumbest things that are real. A team
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: in Amsterdam did three hundred and fifty thousand coin flips
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: and found out it's not really fifty to fifty.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that. I mean, it's not going to
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: be fifty to fifty.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Well they're not saying that once the odds.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Are fifty to fifty each coin.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Flip coins are slightly more likely to land on the
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: same side they started on.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: That's ridiculous. Why is that we could try it right here?
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: We could try it a thousand times, and.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: So they did it three hundred and fifty thousand times.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: It's like the team of scientists did it three hundred
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: and fifty thousand times.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: How long is it over?
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Three hundred two thousand seconds? For sure, you can breathe
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: through your butt.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: No.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Researchers found that many mammals are capable of breathing through
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: their butt. The study showed doctors might be able to
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: treat things like COVID using a special mixture of oxynogenda
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: ox ox oxygenated. I gotta said the right the first time. Yeah,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: I just didn't feel right when I said it.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: So you.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Hold your nose, you put your hair down, but oh
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: my god. This year's Peace Prize went to the study
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: that looked at whether you could put pigeons out of
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: missiles to help guide them. The Botany Prize went to
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: a study that found some plants will imitate the shape
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: of a fake plastic plant if you put them next
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: to each other in your house for a long time.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Crazy, it'll form the shape of the fake plant.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: That's really cool.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: The Anatomy prize went to a study that looked at
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: the direction your hair swirls in and whether it's affected
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: by the hemisphere you're born in. Kind of like the
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: myth that toilets flush and option opposite directions and it
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: doesn't matter. The prize for medicine went to a study
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: that found that placebos work better if they cause a
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: few painful side effects. Placebos work better if they cause
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: a few pain Also, the person I got it. That's
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: crazy to think about.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Come on, it is, because that makes no sense to me.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Wow, So placebo's not real, right, But if you're taking
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: something that's not real and it's giving you a side effect,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: a painful sie effect, you think it's then real. So
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: therefore it works because you're like, oh, it must be happening,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: so deep stuff. Wow, my mind is blown. So all
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: you're doing is convincing people it's the real thing, which
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: is a placebo, which is what it is. And the
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: way to convince people that it's real, it's about putting
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: in a side effect that just exists by itself. Wow,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: that should get the real prize.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: That's good.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: The Physics prize went to a study that looked at
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: the swimming abilities of dead trout. I don't care. The
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: chemistry prize went to a study that used a process
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: called chromatography to make drunk and sober worms race each other.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, boys did that.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: The Biology prize went to an old study from nineteen
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: forty one. Researchers brown paper bags while a cat's stunned
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: the cows back they were trying.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: See.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I think it's scared cows into producing more milk. I
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: don't know what. The prize for demographics went to a
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: study that found places where people supposed to live the
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: longest tend to have poor record keeping when it comes
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: to when people were born. That makes sense for fun
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: jobs like They found that most places where the world's
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: oldest people lived, it's also the people that took the
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: worst records of when they were born. You know, the
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: correlation pretty strong.
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: Makes sense.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Okay, I think we're done here. We'll go our final thoughts.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: I'll go first, I watch Caitlyn Clark play. She's awesome.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I've been on since before day one, when you guys
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: were telling me stop, stop with it. She's my favorite athlete,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: my favorite American athlete, favorite athlete right now, most assisted
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: by a rookie ever single game, record for most assists
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: by any player period, not a rookie, most combined points
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: scored and assisted in a single game. She had thirty
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: five points yesterday, than most three pointers by a rookie,
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: most consecutive games with at least thirty three pointers, first
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: to be a rookie, to record trouble double, longest player
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: of the week's for a w NBA or NBA rookie.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's NonStop. She's awesome. She's not even done.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: They played the aces. A's a really good they're probably
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: gonna win it again. But she's also going to be
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: probably second or third all time in three pointers mate,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: all time, not rookies WB all time. So big cantlein
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Clark guy. So yeah, that's what's up. That's my thought, Eddie.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just proud of my son, my eleven year
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: old son. He was really sick yesterday and he had
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: two basketball games and I was like, bro, you gotta go,
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: and he's just like that don't feel good. I was like,
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: you should probably go. You missed last week because we
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: went to my dad's funeral and like, you should probably go,
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: let's not let your team down. And he pushed through,
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: man fought through. He had eight points one assist. I'm like, dude,
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: you play better than you go than you normally do.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: That's the Jordan flu game.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that was it.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: I gave him the Jordan. Yeah, so I guess that's
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: what God I'm going. I don't know, but I'm proud
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: of him for doing that.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: That's good.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: Yeah, he didn't let his team down.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Eight points more Iris scored in the r game. I
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: scored four and had three rebounds in a game. But
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I didn't want the ball. They gave me the ball
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: throw out.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: You had some good no look passes.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Because I can't see everybody's look. All the no looks.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: I can't see every pass. Is that every passes a
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: no look for me? I have terrible vision. So now
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: what happens is I don't move my head much because
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: it it tips off. Whe I'm going to pass the
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: ball because I can't. I only have one eye that works.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: So if I'm always just using that one eye to
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: look around, you're really I'm going to be telegraphing everything,
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: so I just don't.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: All my passes are no look stop what you're being
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: stupid right now? That's funny, though, that's funny.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Very few of them do. I have to actually look.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I've gotten so good with my periphery because I've had
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: to that. I can see things happening on both sides
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: of me. I don't see very well, but I'm no
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: looking like crazy because I can't see like a blind
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: guy out there playing basketball. What do you expect? It's
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: called no look pass? Okay, uh go ahead, Kevin.
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: Uh Well, if you follow me on Instagram, Eddie as
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: he knows, I got a dog this weekend, my first.
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: I grew up with a dog, family dog, but this
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: is my first.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: My dog.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: That's a cute dog.
- 1:16:11Speaker 7: Man.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Does it get bigger?
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: I love him? Oh yeah, he's a little baby's nine weeks.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: What kind of dog is No?
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: I mean it's like, is it a bigger because I
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: saw your girlfriend with it? Is it you guys dog?
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: No?
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: It's mine. Yeah, she has her dog mine smartness Australian shepherd.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: Oh those get semi big.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: You don't want a purse dog, even if you're a dude.
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: Pers And it's not a mini They have mini ones too,
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: but I got a regular sized one.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Because then you gotta get a purse. I got a purse.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: It ain't that fun.
- 1:16:34Speaker 8: It's fun that'n't want to put a dog in it? Okay,
- 1:16:36Speaker 8: casey Yankees. Atop the al East, Aaron Judge looks like
- 1:16:40Speaker 8: he's been reawakened. I will say though, that that whole
- 1:16:43Speaker 8: thing with Devers and Coal was yeh yeah, very very
- 1:16:46Speaker 8: low moved by Cole, so not too happy with him.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: But happy.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Yeah, well because Devers owns him.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: One out nobody on.
- 1:16:52Speaker 8: Yeah it was, and then it yeah, completely backfired. Yeah,
- 1:16:55Speaker 8: then the bass clearing double or something like that.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: So that was hilarious.
- 1:16:59Speaker 8: But we ended up winning the game. So well, not
- 1:17:02Speaker 8: that game, but the series three three?
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: Isn't it?
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: One out nobody on?
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: There's nobody on. I don't know how many outs, maybe wonders, you're.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: Sure how many outs? Exactly?
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: One at the very most, Yeah, one at the very most.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: But Oriole, Yeah, well he's the top. I think we
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: got two games, That's what I say.
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: Red.
- 1:17:22Speaker 7: I went and watched a little bit of the Corn
- 1:17:24Speaker 7: Fairy Tour. They came into town yesterday at Legends around here.
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: Uh I learned that.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: I want to play more golf and some of these dudes,
- 1:17:37Speaker 7: I'm not gonna lie. I'm like, how are you playing
- 1:17:40Speaker 7: right now?
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: Like I could do that? Yeah?
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 1:17:43Speaker 7: Like some like some I saw some shame like terrible
- 1:17:46Speaker 7: shanks off the tee Like really yeah, oh the corn Yeah?
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: No, still though that should be I mean they should
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: be good. That should be good. It's better than college golf,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: and I don't expect college golfers to shank them. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: so you think when you watch corn Fairy that you
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: should be playing at least corn Frey level.
- 1:18:02Speaker 7: No, no, because it's like, you know, I'll see them
- 1:18:05Speaker 7: hit a drive and I'm like, man, I could do
- 1:18:06Speaker 7: better than that. But the consistency is where it gets you.
- 1:18:09Speaker 7: You know, they're like, Okay, they might shank this one,
- 1:18:11Speaker 7: but then they're gonna they're gonna go on the next hole.
- 1:18:13Speaker 7: They're gonna do better and do better.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: But I don't even think you can do better than
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: their drives. Really yeah, that sounds like a challenge.
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: No that way, he says, it sounds like against them.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: I didn't say me. I just said them.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's true.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, that's it. Thank you guys, We'll see you.
