- 0:41Hamster with a blunt, penknife the Doctor Who commentary,
- 0:44podcast, the definite article, definite article, some may see.
- 0:51I am Mark do dick and I'm here with Jewel for it as if the we
- 0:55are listening, were both listening watching bit of both
- 0:59really reinforcing experiencing in many different formats
- 1:03because it is available in many different formats.
- 1:05The wondrous story that is Fury from the deep, yeah I'm
- 1:09available. It in as many different formats
- 1:11of shoulder you know? Oh bloody hell.
- 1:13Yeah. Well, it's this next year.
- 1:16How many more versions of Shadow?
- 1:18We've got, you know, that theory of like Schrodinger's Cat.
- 1:22The cat's alive or dead in the box so the Springs out the older
- 1:27different universes. Where all the possibilities
- 1:29play? Ow, well I think we've got like
- 1:32Schrodinger's shoulder because there's so many versions of
- 1:35shoulder. Now, there's there is literally
- 1:37one from every bloody Universe, go in.
- 1:39Pretty much. We've got so many versions yet
- 1:41we've not got one either. What if you got this?
- 1:44You got the DVD. The animation audio with the
- 1:50narration. If we open twice, make a
- 1:53dreadful duration that John Lennon, the crab-like creature
- 1:59was hideous Patera. I can never remember any lines
- 2:03from fear from the deep. What Tom Baker says, it's been
- 2:06that long since I've listened to it was I'd be came out in about
- 2:09T3, I think. And I remember sitting listening
- 2:13to that cassette, I think you started by saying, I was in my
- 2:16second regeneration, then probably you touch a much
- 2:19younger man and innocent, except for, from the Tardis.
- 2:24Anyway, this happen, this target mobilization, which are know
- 2:27you've read. Yes, a addition said, we don't
- 2:32know why. It doesn't take long sequences
- 2:38of you know, the Describing the shoreline.
- 2:41So yeah in esque takes too long. Sequences of extra long
- 2:45sequences. Is that is that all the versions
- 2:51of this though? There's probably a loose cannon
- 2:53they'll be a tailless nap reconstruction on this set as
- 2:56well as the Doctor Who magazine dirty magazine.
- 3:01John Kira. Didn't they tell us naps?
- 3:03Yes, it's of narrator. You'd experience it that way.
- 3:07We are approaching Sharda. Pulled portions here, are we?
- 3:11Yeah, I would say so, I sort of, I think power of the dialects
- 3:15evil of the Daleks and Fury from the deep.
- 3:17Probably. After Sharda, there are quite a
- 3:20few different versions out. Meech to go back to your
- 3:24question in the last episode. I think the three stories you
- 3:28just mentioned. There are the three stories in
- 3:31this era that people would most want to see it returned.
- 3:34Mine will be my choices, but I think those are the ones.
- 3:36Those are the big hitters, the people.
- 3:38Yeah, people probably would have put Weber's Theory there as well
- 3:40before. Mmm, but still it's nice.
- 3:44You can watch it now. Definitely a note.
- 3:46That so is still that still for you to the alien, be nearly 10
- 3:49years that we've had enemy of the world and where the fear
- 3:51back, but there's still a novelty factor for what for me,
- 3:55certainly when I put them on and still like, it's this feels new
- 3:58and it's we did. I always don't go back to them
- 4:02in the back of my head, they're missing.
- 4:04Oh, and I go to the shop and got my God, I can watch any movie,
- 4:07the world and see that fabulous sequence of the To take it off
- 4:10on the beach. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:13Enemy of the world still amazes me is I really always that was
- 4:19good, you know, but the thing is about it is it has a sort of
- 4:22Feel Love in terms of its characterization.
- 4:25As I feel of like a historical from William Hearts, just
- 4:28happens to be set in the future. Ha ha, you know, it's David
- 4:31Whittaker, again, isn't he's a bloody genius.
- 4:33Yeah, there's something there's a, there's a sense of scale and
- 4:37World building going on there. That Unusual for that year of
- 4:40who plus some fabulous having up as well.
- 4:43Remember that? This is just a form of
- 4:46comprehensive insurance, huh? Nothing for you to worry about
- 4:50my dear man, like it's proud as I would a great time in that he
- 4:55was not having a good time around this time.
- 4:57Was he wanted to come here? Yeah, I think the grain don't
- 5:01make him Doctor Who was quite tough and at that point there
- 5:05are 52 weeks in a year. I think he was doing it for 48
- 5:08weeks, a year. Yeah, it was something like 40
- 5:11Old weeks every year which just crazy to think about.
- 5:16And I've lost my train of thought I was going to say
- 5:19something is gone now. Well, I don't cause I every now
- 5:22and again. Yeah, that's a lot.
- 5:23You know, blow up a balloon in his face and have him
- 5:25unconscious for an episode just so we can have a holiday.
- 5:28Absolutely. Yeah.
- 5:29And then go off golfing. I think I want to Kathy was
- 5:32super amiable and and to flirt because there are 15 families,
- 5:37but he was properly tetchy. Some sort of mid to latter end
- 5:42of his era, I think, and I heard of behind-the-scenes story of
- 5:47the Toby hater Puck off recently.
- 5:48Where the first said, no, he was just exhausted.
- 5:51He was so tired. And I know I've worked night
- 5:54shift, so I've got to a point where I'm so exhausted.
- 5:56I'm a general friendly bloke, but Jesus Christ, when you are
- 6:00at that point of exhaustion, any little thing.
- 6:03Hey, yeah. It's very hard to stay amiable
- 6:06and friendly under those circumstances.
- 6:07When you bear in mind, that For most of his time as the doctor
- 6:12he was sometimes working six or seven days a week for maybe four
- 6:16five, six weeks stretches without a break because they go
- 6:20well, you'll be filming sir. You'll be filming for a demon,
- 6:23it's Sunday Monday, you'll be shooting Tuesday through that.
- 6:25Brady and I was just crazy. It was immense actor.
- 6:29He was never at work. And by all accounts, he was
- 6:33humble enough to send letters out between jobs to say, I'm
- 6:38looking for work. What have you got?
- 6:39May. Yeah, and the sad truth is he
- 6:43wanted off this show that was providing him with regular
- 6:46income. Yeah, his many families which
- 6:51there is some prestigious acting Talent.
- 6:53My I'll say oh, definitely it's a crowns and there seemed to be
- 6:57more of them popping up all the time as well.
- 6:59So it really is a proper density.
- 7:02Halden I do have a question for you, but should we guys the
- 7:06episode and I'll ask you otherwise we'll run out of
- 7:08things to say. Yeah.
- 7:09Yes, we'll go off on another tangent with another one on top
- 7:12of the other one I can't see. Yes, in five, four, three, two,
- 7:19one. My question for you is this is,
- 7:24do you think that Doctor Who should I we've discussed the
- 7:29formulate nature of season 5? Do you think it should have a
- 7:33formula or should it always be doing?
- 7:37Lots of diverse storytelling? Who is the thing is there are
- 7:44benefits to both having just finished watching all the season
- 7:532 box set and following with the production subtitles during that
- 7:58period. There's a lot of a viewer
- 8:00surveys were done and that series.
- 8:04Is that season is completely eclectic, mix of stories and
- 8:09pushing the boundaries of Doctor Who in doing different Right
- 8:11things? And a lot of the feedback that
- 8:14was happening was that people were going oh I'm not really
- 8:16following this. I don't get what's going on.
- 8:18I don't understand, I don't get it either.
- 8:19A bit alienated by. Why are there?
- 8:22Why are there anachronisms in the time meddler?
- 8:24Why did them, why would the Bible the other modern
- 8:26wristwatch in 1066? It doesn't make sense and
- 8:29they're not really grasping the format or what's going on?
- 8:32We can't be held as a stupid people watching Doctor which is
- 8:36fair enough. But I think him When you go from
- 8:40something like the web Planet, which to The Crusade, or was it
- 8:44the other way around to the Chris into the Crusades, which
- 8:46is you go from something? So mad world, building sci-fi
- 8:52out there into something that's verging on Shakespearean.
- 8:56That's a huge leap else. I am massively, like, diverse as
- 9:02the Daleks master plan into, it's so tight and carrot Focus
- 9:07as the massacre. Yeah, and I think for some
- 9:12viewers it will be really jarring to go from.
- 9:17Oh I think I've got I've sussed what Doctor Who is to.
- 9:20What the bloody hell? Is this the next week?
- 9:24And for some people they'll thrive on that?
- 9:26I think you know that's one of the reasons that I quite enjoy
- 9:29the 80s Euros of Doctor Who is that?
- 9:31You don't know what you're going to get from one story to the
- 9:34next and frequently the, you know, the highs and the lows and
- 9:37the Wild and you know there can be Be Mythic and magical and
- 9:41hard sci-fi and gritty and grueling and then silly
- 9:44discombobulating. I'm you can get all sorts but
- 9:48then equally, it's quite reassuring to watch something
- 9:52where you know, what? You're going to get every week.
- 9:54Yeah, I think maybe at the time. So when this was broadcast, the
- 9:59formulate nature of it was probably quite a good idea and
- 10:04people could just relax and ease into what they're watching.
- 10:06They kind of know how it's going to go.
- 10:08I Hindsight. That's a little bit dull.
- 10:11When you watch fire was stories back-to-back adding and sort of,
- 10:15you know, now, the more eclectic nature of the 80s or season, 6
- 10:21or the heart of a warrior is more interesting.
- 10:24Interesting. I think in the new series The
- 10:28only show, run our that really manages to do that sort of
- 10:33eclectic, mix of genres and things like that is Chris
- 10:39chibnall I think with a rusty Davis on the Steven Moffat.
- 10:42You kind of know what you're gonna get with Rusty.
- 10:44Davis is going to be kind of pretty looking.
- 10:48It's not have emotional, stings to hear some funny lines and
- 10:52they're going to try and make it sort of an epic as possible with
- 10:54Moffitt is going to be a clever, clever script with a bit of smog
- 10:58Listen, it attempts at doing emotional things.
- 11:03I'm being a bit me now, but you kind of know what you're gonna
- 11:05get. Whereas, you can have something
- 11:07like demons that are Punjab and then follow that up with kablam.
- 11:13Yeah. And, and when you go from things
- 11:15like Demons of the Punjab or Rosa, as well, they both hit
- 11:18hard. They're quite sort of emotional
- 11:22heft and the those stories. And then ker-blam, which By
- 11:29comparison, feels like a more conventional Doctor, Who story.
- 11:32It's, I think there's, there's, as I say there's benefits to
- 11:36having a very eclectic series, but there's also benefits to
- 11:39giving viewers something reassuring, however, in season
- 11:435, doctor who you're going, 30 40 weeks of basis Under Siege
- 11:47and people arguing. But I think it makes series that
- 11:50I think that that was one of the reasons.
- 11:52Why series 11 people kind of like sat back and went.
- 11:55Well what the hell is? This are what I'm getting from
- 11:57weeks away. Week, you know, in terms of
- 11:59quality, and in terms of tongues and genre things like that,
- 12:03whereas I think those Rusty Davis and Steven, Moffat as
- 12:05well, quite comfortable. In terms of, I'm going to watch
- 12:08this. It's going to be competent to a
- 12:10certain level and I kind of know what I'm going to get.
- 12:14Yeah, and I think that's I think sometimes it's important to
- 12:18challenge the viewer. That's the good thing about
- 12:22didn't give it, giving people eclectic mix of tales and and
- 12:26genres. Because what I found when Doctor
- 12:29Who came back, was that even the structure of this series, you
- 12:35could can't predict what was going to go Utopia or
- 12:37contemporary. You.
- 12:37Tell your future, you type your historical, you'd have your two
- 12:40parts out, and people typically very, very quickly fail into
- 12:43that. Well, this is going to be the
- 12:44darker one. This is the latter half of the
- 12:46season. This is going to be, this is
- 12:48going to be that it was very prescriptive and then Steven
- 12:51Moffat when he went for season 6, he's going to start the
- 12:55season with two parter. Quite a lot of fans were like,
- 12:57but you don't start a season with the two-parter and I was
- 13:00late. I really like these and say what
- 13:04props to him. He was ambitious and very yeah.
- 13:08But then you know what was interesting, was he realized?
- 13:10He started to Hemorrhage viewers and so he went back in series
- 13:1410. When are you going back to doing
- 13:16the The, the present, the future, the past, the big to
- 13:21part is in the middle, you know, leading up to the finale, the
- 13:24big to park one on. It was back to that.
- 13:25Rusty Davis Wonder again. Yeah.
- 13:28Seems to their certain things lame themselves well to Doctor.
- 13:31Who after you what it is? All right?
- 13:33It's Doctor Who fans grateful Bunch, always gone on about how
- 13:39they want things to be different and why can't the series
- 13:43experiment anymore. And then when it does like mean
- 13:46seriously, It's like oh well, what the fuck was that?
- 13:49I don't know. Yeah, I think the only thing you
- 13:53can guarantee is that Doctor Who fans are going to be contrary
- 13:57I'll speak from experience. Yeah, exactly lovely scene
- 14:02between, that's a Maggie Harris. Harris is it?
- 14:07Megan? Megan June's and then she told
- 14:10sleepy for upstanding. Yeah.
- 14:13Yeah, she really, she had put yourself together, man, and
- 14:16being really mean to him and then like, when he struck, and
- 14:18she goes, you know, what do those a bit romance going on
- 14:21here at one point? You know, there's enough
- 14:24suggestion? I think.
- 14:25Yeah, I think there's a bit of a hint about it.
- 14:28And she's got her hands all over him in the bed.
- 14:30Oh, my tee time. Tilly really thought you said
- 14:35that. I also love the bit where she
- 14:37snaps the Perkins. Aah and then sort of awkwardly
- 14:41apologizes. Yes, she immediately catches
- 14:43herself out and reprimands ourself for being that way.
- 14:48Which again, it shows you, it's a human element.
- 14:50There's plenty of other. You know, there's no sort of
- 14:53Redemptive moments for a lot of other civil servants and bigwigs
- 14:57pop up in Doctor Who they're either just Shaping blowhards
- 15:01the whole time and then they get their comeuppance or you've got
- 15:04somebody who's okay, is maybe not the best written character
- 15:07in The out in the world. But Megan Jones is probably a
- 15:09more rounded individual then. I think that's the formants,
- 15:12does a lot of the world? Oh, yeah.
- 15:14And I think, dr. You often benefits from good
- 15:18performers. Is that Tablas actress who's in
- 15:22Gabon has place? Isn't it?
- 15:23Yes, she plays that kinky a woman in the wrong.
- 15:29She's a bit of shoe. Well, slaves, and apparently
- 15:31Russell T, Davies issues. One of the actresses that his
- 15:34dad would call of into the house to come back inside and watch it
- 15:36on the TV. She's on the TV.
- 15:39That's something that stuck with him.
- 15:42He said that we quite recently in an interview.
- 15:44I think it's lovely things between Jamie and Victoria as
- 15:48well, where he's a little tattoo of her because she's not, she's
- 15:52not just getting on with it and she's saying, you know, I don't
- 15:55know if I'm not having fun. Why can't we go somewhere?
- 15:58Nice. And he is a bit reactionary in
- 16:02this. I don't think you often see
- 16:05decent character work with Jamie though.
- 16:07I think him and Patrick round are brilliant together.
- 16:10Their Dynamic is bringing together but it is rare.
- 16:13There's a moment in evil of the Daleks where the doctor and
- 16:15Jamie have a massive fire. I mean, the way the doctors
- 16:19manipulating people and then there's a few bits in this but I
- 16:23think that's probably about it in this.
- 16:25Yeah, I think if it wasn't for freezer hangings and his
- 16:28characterization Jamie wouldn't have made as big an impact as he
- 16:32did, because his characterization from story to
- 16:38story is often changes a dependent on.
- 16:42You know, what was plot expedient, you know, what was
- 16:44useful for, you know, suddenly he's really intelligent it next
- 16:47door, he's super thick. And then the next again, one
- 16:50he's like the leader is throwing himself into battle.
- 16:52The next is not so sure about getting his head into this.
- 16:55Chase child, inherits me though. Oh yeah and mayo.
- 17:00Is a pretty. That's what it looks like.
- 17:03When I put my night wetsuit in the underwater - I was not
- 17:07complaining Kevin, Michael kriezel, Michael craze of the
- 17:15most fuckable Tardis team ever live along its housing, co-owner
- 17:21Bradley Walsh. So are we really doing this?
- 17:25Whatever tickles, ones pickle. So Course, Chief Robinson is
- 17:31about a kid that Victoria looking.
- 17:34Like, she's got, she said a million times about, you know,
- 17:37how dismal her life has been in top.
- 17:39It's yes. She's gonna have one last
- 17:41terrified experience where she's taking off in a helicopter taken
- 17:45to an oil rig and kept hostage. While this foam froth around
- 17:48her. Oh yes.
- 17:49He's just going to prove the point rub some salt into the
- 17:52wounds. Yes, you don't join this later.
- 17:54Let's make it worse for you, Victoria.
- 17:56What's really interesting is I watched so I went I was
- 17:59watching. Some brick box this morning.
- 18:01I went straight into the Wheeling space, which is like
- 18:06telling snaps for the episodes aren't there.
- 18:07And I watched you at your website and man, a man Zoe, just
- 18:11immediately. That's smart full of solutions,
- 18:16honey. Yeah, artists like Victoria who.
- 18:20Oh yeah. I think when d-pad Bree Doesn't
- 18:24Nest. She doesn't always get the
- 18:25credit she deserves like, she really Nails it, but never roll
- 18:34with. She can be quite patient.
- 18:37She really brings a lot to that couch is a bit like Maureen
- 18:39O'Brien with Vicki. She Maureen O'Brien didn't like,
- 18:44you know what, you know, she thought the scripts were a bit
- 18:46thin, but she brought her alternate when Japan when does
- 18:50just the same. It's that is something they
- 18:53thought about. He's a pirate is all about is it
- 18:54is made enough personality, but even if the characterization or
- 18:58even the plot is terrible, you want to watch those people and I
- 19:02think you know when you probably have it K Manning had it
- 19:06Elisabeth. Sladen had it.
- 19:07Yeah. You know the best thing if
- 19:10you've got a really again, if there's something compelling
- 19:12about them, you forget all that dreariest of stories, you're
- 19:17still happy to help their hands and go on the journey.
- 19:20Oh absolutely. I just find some Victoria.
- 19:22Just sniff. Paul's a lot, you know, there's
- 19:25happy in the Ice broke where she's in the handkerchief like,
- 19:27snip. I know it's a bit of a comedy
- 19:29saying she's just been two episodes actually doing that.
- 19:33While she's running around the glacier.
- 19:35Yeah, and she's quite. Yeah, I don't beat her up too
- 19:38much. I think is part of the
- 19:39characterization and everything and it's just it's the way it
- 19:43works out sometimes with Doctor Who companions.
- 19:46I think that perhaps that the idea doesn't always meet with
- 19:50what's realized But it's yeah, she's not a companion that.
- 19:58I think of particularly fondly, she's not, she's not a high
- 20:01ranking for me as she did do. A number of big finish companion
- 20:04Chronicles. They really redeem the character
- 20:08I think Deming Watling was a variable actress anyway.
- 20:12Not speaking of dead but, you know, we're just on our accent.
- 20:15Yeah, yeah. And, and the rated them sort of
- 20:19a bit robotically. And whereas, you know, big
- 20:22finish has done amazing work with people character, likes our
- 20:25kingdom and things like that, you know?
- 20:28Even even Marquis Waterhouse is not a, who isn't a strong actor
- 20:32either? He's come back and they've given
- 20:34him really good material with big finish and it was really
- 20:38great to have him back. It's really interesting.
- 20:42I'm thinking of suddenly thought of our It's what remember big
- 20:46finish used to do? The short story loophole short
- 20:48trips? Yeah, short trips.
- 20:50Yeah, there's one I think written by Jacqueline Rainer
- 20:54about a banshee And it features it Toria and she's in a larger I
- 20:59think and she's haunted by this shrieking Banshee and it turns
- 21:05out I think, if I remember rightly turns out, it's Victoria
- 21:10being haunted by herself. Well, over that phase into this
- 21:14a little bit that it. And it's house whirring which is
- 21:17the after a whole year of making a scream to make that solution
- 21:22of this is absolutely marvelous. Oh yeah.
- 21:25I'm glad that they did do that because In the initial story
- 21:27proposal, the doctor was going to say and Jeanne back to the
- 21:31Tardis to get his bagpipes. I would've been quite a funny as
- 21:35well. It would have been funny but I
- 21:37don't think. Yeah, I don't think that.
- 21:43Yeah, that doesn't sit right with me.
- 21:49That was a fabulous. Absolutely, a fairy liquid into
- 21:54that phone machine. It was rolling across the floor
- 21:57towards everybody. Oh dear, I did like and like you
- 22:01said, we don't really know what we're missing, but we do know
- 22:04there were sequences where they filled, those sets with bloody
- 22:07bubbles. We went through it.
- 22:10I think we're finally at the point of the story, where things
- 22:13kick off were about were more than two-thirds of the way
- 22:17through. I think this could be, you could
- 22:20lose two episodes of this easily and still keep all the good
- 22:24character work and the scares but just condensed down.
- 22:28All of the shouting about impellers and you try to contact
- 22:32the rig, some things like that, all of the sort of the mundane
- 22:36work a day stuff and just focus on the character in the scales.
- 22:40I think it would be a really tight for pastor but maybe you
- 22:44need the Slow Burn for Victoria's exit.
- 22:46I don't know, maybe that needs to take moment.
- 22:48Six weeks. Hey look, they got a helicopter.
- 22:54That was quite a bit, it's barely helicopter heavy, this
- 22:56era. Isn't it episode 6 years or so?
- 22:59Yo, Loop the loops and All Souls going on, mmm, by all accounts.
- 23:03That was the actors say that was absolutely bloody terrifying,
- 23:07their database. They in helicopter pilot so
- 23:10genuinely doing loop-the-loop they feared for their lives.
- 23:15Usually at that see we coming up his sleeves like that.
- 23:19Aha, why should I think that's in one of the Senate Eclipse,
- 23:23isn't it? You can actually see it poking
- 23:24out. I think you did a queen, you can
- 23:26see the weed poking out. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:29It's quite nice there. Like the fact that in the
- 23:31animation, you've got its it looks live.
- 23:34It's Tropics crawling out of his cuffs, whereas it looks so it's
- 23:39just been stuffed up. Its sleeves in the sense of
- 23:40Club. It is a shame that she has to be
- 23:46a victim again here. I wish you could just be more
- 23:48proactive in our last story and like it.
- 23:52She inadvertently screams because she's scared and that's
- 23:56what all these sequences where they don't quite know why the
- 23:58week is retreating. And then it's the doctor that
- 24:01has to say all screaming to this.
- 24:04And she's not even really glad, it's not her being smart.
- 24:09And even then there's that bizarre comedy sequence where
- 24:11she's going. Well, I can't just scream.
- 24:14Are you fucking kidding me at the drop of a hat, you scream
- 24:17under every other circumstance, going to be like, Debbie Downer
- 24:23on them, but it is a shame. It is.
- 24:27So we said before, like like Charlie, follow-up was Victoria
- 24:31Warfield dumb, right? That's right.
- 24:34Circle, female companion, spunk. Yeah.
- 24:38And I really think she could have been great.
- 24:41Yeah. I think in Tomb when she's with,
- 24:46when she's takes the gun and she's shooting the cybermat and
- 24:50having a go at caftan and then you've got in the Abominable
- 24:55Snowman as well. She's quite proactive.
- 24:57She's like come on Jamie we're going to have we're going to do
- 24:58this and but from that point on but she just loses any of that.
- 25:05Determination here is that being impossible.
- 25:07So many keeps playing over and over going to be awake.
- 25:13It's very annoying. Yeah.
- 25:20She was putting candy peel. Lemon peel 10.
- 25:25We would lovely push it all together over a cab.
- 25:34The fact that they're putting in all of these.
- 25:38Ethnic characters in this. Although thing that was probably
- 25:41their the original. Well, there are no, they're
- 25:44adding, yeah, they're having their bit of ethnicity to yeah.
- 25:49Probably a very white cast, probably very white, very meal,
- 25:54cast, sort of thing that gets people hit up as well.
- 25:57You know those, you know it's in the Abominable Snowman.
- 25:59Now they made all the monks Asian.
- 26:02Yeah, instead of white actors Asia and up.
- 26:06Yeah, that would Like that would have been your heart even harder
- 26:09to explain. Why have you animated video,
- 26:13animated white men doing yellow face louvain was still sitting
- 26:18there spitting blood. Oh, well, apparently, he tweeted
- 26:21or Facebook to something recently about that, that the
- 26:24atrocious things they did to Hannah meeting Padma Samba.
- 26:28Oh, I love it. That's not the way to you, which
- 26:32had it on the plane and all the stars appeared.
- 26:36Sure. That wasn't in the original.
- 26:37They look great. I think I mean given that
- 26:39there's you know there's big gaps in the audio and things
- 26:42that are maybe a bit inexplicable or perhaps just a
- 26:45line on a camera script. What do you do with that?
- 26:47Because the fans have spoken and they said they want every second
- 26:51animated possible. You could cut those 30 seconds
- 26:54of silence, or you can have a dynamic flicking scene and have
- 26:58a bit of creative, you know, a bit of a flourish.
- 27:06Absolutely. How can I die?
- 27:08Will recover them phone all this but that looks terrific and it's
- 27:12really good. Am I think?
- 27:14Apparently they really struggled to get the phone to work right
- 27:17on location because this form and the Emulsion that they would
- 27:22use to get the phone worked best with.
- 27:27With ordinary water not with seawater and they thought well,
- 27:31it's fine. We can just pump water from the
- 27:32sea in the realize that seawater just didn't make it work the
- 27:34same. So they had to somehow figure
- 27:36out how to get water to the rig's, to make it happen.
- 27:40So I think they were pretty industrious.
- 27:43The doctor who like the BBC special effects team especially
- 27:47in this era. They seem all a bit like,
- 27:49they're a bit crazy. Some of the people in willing to
- 27:51take risks are all pistol, down the pub at lunch.
- 27:56I think that the effects and he had to stay overnight on the
- 27:59rig, but the phone's toxic. I'll do.
- 28:02I just don't tell the actors poor, if I don't say it.
- 28:06Yeah, like the carcinogenic, it's gonna look amazing.
- 28:17I mean, I do use the phone a lot liar, but have you ever read the
- 28:20government? Needs your death?
- 28:25Paprika August offal off. When Patrick trust stumbles in
- 28:29covered in fairy liquid, that's priceless what to say in a story
- 28:35with variable Lazio, can you hear that?
- 28:39That's a cat outside my window, screaming his head off.
- 28:41What Mister will you keep it down?
- 28:44Sorry, CDL back, let's say a liar.
- 28:51Give ya, given the Cliffhangers in it.
- 28:53I think this is a really excellent.
- 28:55Excellent, like Vivid memorable, Cliffhanger With Robson on the,
- 29:01for all the foam and the we drowned them saying come in
- 29:05doctor. I've been waiting for you.
- 29:08Yeah. And it's not a, it's not a jump
- 29:11skier. Again, it's an atmospheric
- 29:13slightly, Eerie menacing conclusion, 10 episode, it's not
- 29:20it's not your usual. Someone in Peril, it's all know.
- 29:23There is someone in Peril she's screwing around off right now.
- 29:25Now Jamie. Oh she is maybe.
- 29:29That's what you heard. It wasn't, it wasn't Victoria
- 29:32not a cat. By the way.
- 29:39Love the Banshee. They should have out of it for a
- 29:40story called that. Oh yeah.
- 29:44But I'm willing to bet this location work.
- 29:46A lot of this was I don't feel wasn't it obviously their
- 29:48location, but a lot of the stuff in the studio, as well.
- 29:52He all of episode six was filled with, wasn't it?
- 29:55I think the, I think a lot of its in the latter, half the
- 29:58story, The the few things they got of them in front of that
- 30:03sort of lit up map, instead, looks like it's always really
- 30:07crisp. Yeah.
- 30:10My God. Look at everybody.
- 30:11Gotta you know what made me laugh, right?
- 30:12Is a couple of those faces that come out the phone there?
- 30:15Yeah, they've reuse those from The Shard or animation.
- 30:18It's the same. Bloody faces of the people that
- 30:20were in the prison. They hadn't clocked that.
- 30:23Well, they've gotta be economic and I with the animation.
- 30:26Yeah, fair enough. And I think that's a really
- 30:29really decent Cliffhanger. Mmm, what would you what you
- 30:32think is the best one of the story often that ranks?
- 30:36I think it's between that and saris going out into the sea
- 30:41because it's sort of something. So, Odd about her willingly.
- 30:46Just stepping out to sea while though you quite like the the
- 30:51ominous nature of down there in the darkness or roof way to
- 30:57eating years that to, I think because it's more about the
- 31:02atmosphere building in this as a pretty rude lot as well.
- 31:05You know, I've got it.
