- 0:00Speaker 1: We will move on to Texas. Guys, I want to talk.
- 0:04Speaker 2: We can do a little bit of Ohio State here,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but I do want to keep this pretty Texas focused
- 0:08Speaker 2: if we can. And a little Ohio State talk is fine.
- 0:11Speaker 2: But talking about Texas, the comeback, and really if they
- 0:15Speaker 2: hadn't shot themselves in the foot to start this game
- 0:18Speaker 2: over and over and over again repeatedly, how much different
- 0:21Speaker 2: would this game have been?
- 0:24Speaker 1: And what does this win mean for Texas? Are they.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Are you picking them for the sec now showing what
- 0:30Speaker 2: they saw in the second half or to the first
- 0:32Speaker 2: half struggles? Were you too much? Just like, what's your
- 0:34Speaker 2: big takeaway from Texas? This is presented by prize picks.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I will be back in like two minutes. I will
- 0:40Speaker 2: be listening, but you guys take it from here.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Tom, you want to do Omega first.
- 0:45Speaker 4: I don't want to draw a direct comparison. Sure. This
- 0:49Speaker 4: felt a little like Penn state beating Ohio state in 2016. Okay.
- 0:54Speaker 4: In that, Ohio State won that game, or was the
- 1:01Speaker 4: better team on the field, and Penn State had all
- 1:05Speaker 4: the right things happen, and you saw an Ohio State collapse.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Tell me if you've seen that before. And Penn State
- 1:11Speaker 4: walked away with a marquee program victory. This was a
- 1:15Speaker 4: marquee program victory for Texas under Steve Sarkeesian. They played
- 1:20Speaker 4: terribly offensively for three quarters of football, and then finally
- 1:23Speaker 4: got it together, but Ohio State I would say let
- 1:27Speaker 4: them back in the game because of mistakes across the board,
- 1:30Speaker 4: systemic mistakes. I know everybody woke up the next morning
- 1:33Speaker 4: and was like, who do we blame? There's a lot
- 1:35Speaker 4: of people who messed up for Ohio State. The way
- 1:37Speaker 4: Texas' defense, I thought, was outstanding throughout this game. They
- 1:41Speaker 4: kept them in it. But I can't necessarily look at
- 1:44Speaker 4: this offense and say, oh, I feel confident in them
- 1:46Speaker 4: going forward.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Great win.
- 1:48Speaker 4: It's going to look good on your resume. But when
- 1:50Speaker 4: it comes down to crunch time, are you going to
- 1:52Speaker 4: be in this exact same situation again against high-caliber opponents?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Okay, so on one hand, I agree with you.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Yes, you have to blame Ohio State for being conservative
- 2:01Speaker 5: in the fourth quarter.
- 2:02Speaker 3: The play calling was absolutely pitiful.
- 2:05Speaker 5: And honestly, that's a statement from Ryan Day, not wanting
- 2:08Speaker 5: to go for the jugular when you have them in
- 2:10Speaker 5: arm's reach and you let them back in.
- 2:11Speaker 3: It's entirely wrong.
- 2:12Speaker 5: And Arthur Smith, again, some of the play designs, people
- 2:15Speaker 5: are going to realize pretty quickly why he is not
- 2:17Speaker 5: in the NFL.
- 2:18Speaker 3: But here's my rule.
- 2:19Speaker 5: If I'm going to blame someone, I also have to
- 2:22Speaker 5: give credit for the teams to be able to take advantages.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Because think about Texas from the standpoint.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Early in the game, the Relique Brown fumble that was
- 2:29Speaker 5: recovered inside of Texas territory.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Okay, cool.
- 2:32Speaker 5: So that's three points that you give to Ohio State there.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Then you talk about the interception. That was not the
- 2:37Speaker 5: best ball thrown by Arch Banning, but it was a
- 2:39Speaker 5: catchable ball. And it was so important because of, look
- 2:42Speaker 5: back at that play. You have Cam Coleman, eight yards
- 2:46Speaker 5: down the field from a defensive back. And that ball
- 2:48Speaker 5: hangs in the air long enough for him to be
- 2:50Speaker 5: able to recover after giving an entirely... Burnt play to
- 2:55Speaker 5: make the turnover. They get an interception on that one.
- 2:57Speaker 5: So that's 10 points. So 10 points scored on the
- 3:00Speaker 5: luck that came from Texas giving the ball back to
- 3:04Speaker 5: Ohio State. And the same thing could be said about
- 3:06Speaker 5: Texas getting opportunities against Ohio State in the fourth quarter.
- 3:09Speaker 5: So the same issues that you saw in the first half,
- 3:11Speaker 5: you saw in the final 15 minutes, and it benefited Texas.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Play calling was terrible. They were able to take advantages defensively.
- 3:17Speaker 5: They basically took away Jeremiah Smith. He had one really
- 3:20Speaker 5: bad drop. And then they had the advantages in the
- 3:22Speaker 5: fourth quarter with a lot of different things. Talk about
- 3:25Speaker 5: some of the things that are going to be thrown
- 3:28Speaker 5: under the radar.
- 3:29Speaker 3: They had two fumbles that they recovered.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Like that could have been the nail in the coffin
- 3:34Speaker 5: right there. And Texas got lucky and they recovered them
- 3:37Speaker 5: and they turned them into points. Talk about the ability
- 3:40Speaker 5: to go for it on fourth down. Steve Sarkeesian with
- 3:42Speaker 5: the drop.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what? In the third quarter, realizing that
- 3:46Speaker 3: this game could easily be over. And he's like, you
- 3:48Speaker 3: know what?
- 3:49Speaker 5: If it's over, it's over, but it's on me and
- 3:50Speaker 5: I'm making the call. And to go for it was ballsy.
- 3:53Speaker 5: And they connected and they were able to get touchdowns
- 3:56Speaker 5: off of it. Arch Manning, for as much flack as
- 3:59Speaker 5: we want to give him for maybe being an overrated quarterback,
- 4:02Speaker 5: you have to give him his flowers when they're due.
- 4:04Speaker 5: The guy delivered on three consecutive drives to score 21
- 4:08Speaker 5: unanswered points in the fourth quarter and lead his team
- 4:11Speaker 5: down the field in the face of where everybody kind
- 4:14Speaker 5: of called him on out.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Everybody stepped on up saying that Texas in this moment
- 4:19Speaker 3: could deliver in the clutch.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Now, again, it's on them to be able to deliver
- 4:24Speaker 5: in those moments and capitalize when a team lets them
- 4:27Speaker 5: have the opportunity. But it's also on a team to
- 4:30Speaker 5: be able to know when you have them in arm's
- 4:32Speaker 5: reach to be able to choke them out, wave the
- 4:35Speaker 5: white flag.
- 4:36Speaker 3: You have to do so.
- 4:37Speaker 5: And so that's a little bit on both sides. For Texas,
- 4:39Speaker 5: massive win for Arch Manning, massive win for Steve Sarkisian
- 4:42Speaker 5: to kind of shut everybody up as a play caller.
- 4:44Speaker 5: He gets to now say, I know what I'm doing
- 4:46Speaker 5: in this program. The moves that I made over the
- 4:48Speaker 5: last 16 months led us to this moment right here,
- 4:52Speaker 5: which is why we were able to come back and
- 4:53Speaker 5: fight off against anybody.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But you have to also sustain it.
- 4:57Speaker 5: This can't just be a moment to where you say,
- 4:59Speaker 5: we are on cloud nine, and then we go into
- 5:01Speaker 5: Knoxville in two weeks, and we have the same amount
- 5:03Speaker 5: of issues that we had offensively for three and a
- 5:05Speaker 5: half quarters, and Faison Brandon lights us up defensively.
- 5:08Speaker 3: You can't afford that. You cannot afford for that to happen.
- 5:11Speaker 5: So you can say in one hand, Texas's defense in
- 5:15Speaker 5: the fourth quarter made sure that they were able to
- 5:18Speaker 5: make plays. Texas's offense in the fourth quarter made sure
- 5:22Speaker 5: that they were able to make plays.
- 5:23Speaker 3: You have to carry this consistency.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You have to.
- 5:27Speaker 4: The thing that was troubling for me watching the first
- 5:29Speaker 4: three quarters of Texas's offense was there were a variety
- 5:33Speaker 4: of times on the broadcast. They would show kind of
- 5:35Speaker 4: the all 22 look and there were guys open for
- 5:39Speaker 4: arch to take advantage of. And I don't know if
- 5:41Speaker 4: he was overthinking, if he just wasn't seeing guys, if
- 5:45Speaker 4: this was Matt Patricia throwing the kitchen sink at him,
- 5:47Speaker 4: which is entirely possible. It just seemed like a lot
- 5:49Speaker 4: of situations that from a passing standpoint, arch Manning was
- 5:53Speaker 4: struggling mightily from the neck up. And once they kind of,
- 5:57Speaker 4: took the governor off, so to speak, and let him
- 5:59Speaker 4: run around, extend things, and that affected cover juice. They
- 6:02Speaker 4: found some opportunities. They started to run the ball better
- 6:05Speaker 4: in the second half. You can say, okay, the heat
- 6:07Speaker 4: was there. It was a brutal day to play football,
- 6:10Speaker 4: and Ohio State had been on the field quite a
- 6:12Speaker 4: bit there later in the game, so Texas was able
- 6:14Speaker 4: to take advantage of that. I don't know if you
- 6:17Speaker 4: guys feel like the running game is better.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Oh, it's 1,000% better than what it was last season.
- 6:22Speaker 4: It's better, but is it good enough?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Just before we go on, I will give some love
- 6:25Speaker 2: to our friends over at PrizePix. Hopefully you're enjoying this
- 6:28Speaker 2: clip from the Power 2 here on College Football Addiction.
- 6:31Speaker 2: We are only showing one game so far for Friday
- 6:35Speaker 2: Night Football, but it is Miami against Wake Forest, and
- 6:39Speaker 2: we got some picks for you.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I teased all of these.
- 6:41Speaker 2: So I lowered the minutes of passing yards to 24.5.
- 6:44Speaker 2: He's hitting the more on that. I got Gio Lopez
- 6:47Speaker 2: throwing one touchdown. So wake does score a touchdown through
- 6:50Speaker 2: the air against Miami.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I got Malachi.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Tony's receiving yards at 69 and a half. He's blowing
- 6:55Speaker 2: that total out of the water. Give me the more
- 6:57Speaker 2: on that. I got Mark Fletcher, 49 and a half
- 6:59Speaker 2: rushing yards. Miami's offense is going to feast. Give me
- 7:02Speaker 2: the more on that one as well. Give me all
- 7:04Speaker 2: three Miami ones. Give me the Gio Lopez. Don't get
- 7:07Speaker 2: mad at me.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Canes fans.
- 7:08Speaker 2: For the more on touchdowns, I'll do more picks throughout
- 7:12Speaker 2: the week. One showing so far, but lock it in
- 7:14Speaker 2: early before these lines change. I'm telling you, Miami's offense
- 7:16Speaker 2: ain't going to be held down. Go get the picks
- 7:18Speaker 2: before it's too late. Use code HMA.
- 7:20Speaker 1: All new users who do.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Get $ 150 in lineups instantly if they win their first
- 7:25Speaker 2: $ 5 lineup again on the PrizePix app.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Now back to the clip. For Texas? Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I thought Brown and Smothers ran really, really well against
- 7:35Speaker 2: a really good defensive front.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Especially Hollywood Smothers.
- 7:40Speaker 2: My favorite thing about him, and I was commenting to
- 7:42Speaker 2: my buddy that was over, I just love how he
- 7:44Speaker 2: always falls forward. That's my favorite running back trade of
- 7:47Speaker 2: all time. Unless you have a Barry Sanders spin move,
- 7:51Speaker 2: then I'll probably take that. Normal running back abilities, not
- 7:56Speaker 2: Barry Sanders. I I am a big, big fan of
- 8:03Speaker 2: the fact that he always falls forward. But just anyway,
- 8:06Speaker 2: to answer the question, yeah, I thought the running game
- 8:08Speaker 2: was good enough.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I think it's good enough.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Once they committed to it.
- 8:13Speaker 5: You also have to, again, and this is malpractice by
- 8:16Speaker 5: both coaches, and it's a learning lesson that you're going
- 8:18Speaker 5: to have to fix probably pretty soon if you want
- 8:20Speaker 5: to stay in the conversation of national title threat. Like
- 8:24Speaker 5: see Sarkisian on fourth down right before halftime.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Fourth and one. Why are you running a reverse with
- 8:28Speaker 3: your wide receiver? You're running it. TJ brought this up beautifully.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Hollywood Smothers does the one thing that is necessary on
- 8:37Speaker 5: fourth and short.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Fall forward.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Fall forward and stick the ball out and you continue drives.
- 8:41Speaker 5: And you try to get trickery with it. Meanwhile, you
- 8:44Speaker 5: talk about the pedestrian play calling in the second half.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Really in the fourth quarter by Arthur Smith and Ryan Day.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Ryan Day also burned through his timeouts. Because remember, they
- 8:52Speaker 5: had that one timeout left. when they got inside the
- 8:55Speaker 5: red zone and they had to call it. So you
- 8:57Speaker 5: burned through the timeouts and you gave yourself no opportunity
- 9:00Speaker 5: for Julian saying to drive down the field unless he
- 9:02Speaker 5: was going to find a Jeremiah Smith that would have
- 9:04Speaker 5: to pitch it to Chris Henry, that would have to
- 9:06Speaker 5: pitch it to Brandon Innes, that had to pitch it
- 9:08Speaker 5: back to Julian saying, that had to pitch it back
- 9:10Speaker 5: to Jeremiah Smith, and you run the basic, most electric
- 9:13Speaker 5: Statue of Liberty.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Play of all time that has like six reverses with it.
- 9:16Speaker 5: So it's like, there were so many malpractices in this,
- 9:19Speaker 5: but from the standpoint of running the football, yeah, I
- 9:21Speaker 5: think Texas is good enough But you're going to have
- 9:24Speaker 5: to see this offense be able to line it up
- 9:26Speaker 5: a little bit faster, I think is the main point.
- 9:30Speaker 1: What's your... I don't know that we have to do
- 9:33Speaker 1: this every single time, but with this big of a game...
- 9:35Speaker 1: I think we all had Ohio State win in this.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I had Texas. You had Texas. Okay.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Does your, uh, I don't know that we did records
- 9:42Speaker 2: for Texas or really many teams. Tom, has your record,
- 9:45Speaker 2: like where were you on Texas before this game? And
- 9:48Speaker 2: what is your, do you have a record like update
- 9:51Speaker 2: for them? Cause I was probably like at 10 and
- 9:52Speaker 2: two and I might, I mean, I had, this is
- 9:54Speaker 2: a lot. So I think, I think this game might've
- 9:57Speaker 2: been worth one, one win to me.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Like I might be close. to 11 and one.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I think they'll drop one sec game, but I don't
- 10:04Speaker 2: know that I see them dropping to now the big
- 10:07Speaker 2: caveat is do they play more like second half Texas?
- 10:10Speaker 2: I will say I, yeah, I didn't think Sark was
- 10:13Speaker 2: great early. I think they were a little bit unlucky.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Like to have, to have a knee go down on
- 10:18Speaker 2: your teammates leg. And that'd be why the phone, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 2: like that, if, if that teammate's leg isn't there, his
- 10:24Speaker 2: knee is down and it's not a fumble. The cam
- 10:26Speaker 2: Coleman play is one of the most ridiculous interceptions I've
- 10:28Speaker 2: ever seen in my life. Like the defender was beat
- 10:30Speaker 2: by five yards and then had an easy catch for interception.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Like a lot of times, I think both those plays
- 10:37Speaker 2: would just have turned into like an incomplete pass and
- 10:39Speaker 2: a three yard loss instead of a two turnover game,
- 10:42Speaker 2: the fourth and one call terrible. obviously there were other mistakes,
- 10:45Speaker 2: but I didn't think Ohio state went out and took
- 10:48Speaker 2: this game to Texas in the first half. I very
- 10:50Speaker 2: much thought Texas let Ohio state out to their lead.
- 10:54Speaker 2: And some of it was unlucky. So I, yeah, I'm,
- 10:57Speaker 2: I'm up to 11 wins with Texas. Now I give
- 10:59Speaker 2: a lot of justification for that, but there's where I'm thinking. I.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I, don't feel like I'm looking at their schedule and
- 11:05Speaker 4: being like, Oh, I think they're going to do better
- 11:06Speaker 4: than I thought they were doing before. If anything, I
- 11:08Speaker 4: look at more games and I think there's more coin
- 11:10Speaker 4: flip games because again, you didn't dominate Ohio state in
- 11:13Speaker 4: this game. Yes. You pulled out in the fourth quarter
- 11:16Speaker 4: and you pulled it out in the fourth quarter and
- 11:18Speaker 4: like you absorbed the body blows. Like that's great. You
- 11:21Speaker 4: made a lot of mistakes throughout this game. Offensively special
- 11:24Speaker 4: teams wise. We talked about all that stuff. Defense play.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Great.
- 11:26Speaker 4: So you can rely on that. UTSA this coming week
- 11:29Speaker 4: should take care of business at Tennessee and Tennessee is
- 11:32Speaker 4: going to be a challenge. Does Texas have the better roster? Sure.
- 11:35Speaker 4: But if you make stupid mistakes like this for three quarters,
- 11:39Speaker 4: a good Tennessee team can beat you. I don't think
- 11:42Speaker 4: nearly as much of Oklahoma after what I just saw
- 11:44Speaker 4: against Michigan, at least offensively. So if Texas' defense can
- 11:47Speaker 4: do what Michigan's defense did to John Mateer, well, I
- 11:50Speaker 4: feel pretty good about that. But it's Red River, so
- 11:53Speaker 4: the sky is clean.
- 11:55Speaker 1: You never know.
- 11:56Speaker 4: The Florida game? Again, if you don't play your best,
- 11:59Speaker 4: John Summerall has the ability to beat you, and Jaden
- 12:02Speaker 4: Baugh can run the ball down your throat. Ole Miss,
- 12:05Speaker 4: is Ole Miss a carcass after playing LSU? Are they
- 12:08Speaker 4: emotionally broken? I don't know, but still, like, that could
- 12:11Speaker 4: be a track meet. Mississippi State, Kamario Taylor might be
- 12:15Speaker 4: the best quarterback in the SEC. You should have far
- 12:18Speaker 4: more talent than them, but Kamario is playing very well.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Let's see what else.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I'm going to stop your offense. Country is the right word,
- 12:25Speaker 3: not SEC.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It's possible.
- 12:29Speaker 4: At Mizzou, you should have far better athletes. I would
- 12:31Speaker 4: expect Texas to win that game. But Austin Simmons is
- 12:34Speaker 4: playing as one of the best quarterbacks in the country
- 12:36Speaker 4: right now. At LSU, I don't favor Texas in that environment,
- 12:40Speaker 4: not even a little bit. Home against Arkansas, yes, I
- 12:43Speaker 4: like Texas in that environment. And then at Texas A
- 12:46Speaker 4: & M, a rivalry game, not necessarily the caliber of
- 12:48Speaker 4: Oklahoma and Texas, but still weird things can happen there.
- 12:51Speaker 4: And if Texas A & M' s defense is able to
- 12:53Speaker 4: give Arch and company trouble, I think Texas A &
- 12:56Speaker 4: M has less talent than Texas. But still, how many
- 12:59Speaker 4: games did I just point out where it's like, hey,
- 13:00Speaker 4: if you do the same stuff that you did for
- 13:02Speaker 4: three quarters offensively against Ohio State, you're going to lose
- 13:06Speaker 4: more games. So I didn't look at this and say, oh, man,
- 13:09Speaker 4: they're going 11-1, 12-0. There's going to be some bumps
- 13:12Speaker 4: along the way. I don't know where they are.
- 13:14Speaker 5: I don't fight back and say you're not wrong when
- 13:17Speaker 5: it comes to that scenario of thinking. But the one
- 13:20Speaker 5: thing that I will throw back in, if I'm going
- 13:22Speaker 5: to give Ohio State credit for taking the advantages over
- 13:24Speaker 5: Texas because of the minute little details, the ball hanging
- 13:29Speaker 5: in the air for seven seconds, the knee being down
- 13:32Speaker 5: on a player and not on the ground, then I
- 13:34Speaker 5: have to give credit for Texas for taking advantages when
- 13:36Speaker 5: they were able to step on up in the fourth quarter.
- 13:38Speaker 5: So on one hand, I had Texas as a 10-win,
- 13:40Speaker 5: 11-win roster. I still have them as a 10-win, 11-win roster.
- 13:45Speaker 5: I can see them losing a game because they just
- 13:47Speaker 5: don't get the breaks enough in the fourth quarter like
- 13:50Speaker 5: they did in this matchup.
- 13:51Speaker 3: But still, Texas is a damn good team. Texas, in
- 13:53Speaker 3: my opinion, was meant to go to the playoff.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Texas showed you that when the chips were down by
- 13:57Speaker 5: three scores, like people don't realize it. Here, fun stat
- 14:00Speaker 5: of the day that we didn't get to do at
- 14:01Speaker 5: the very beginning of the show because of Mitch Alper
- 14:03Speaker 5: got fired and he deserved it. But anyways, AP teams
- 14:07Speaker 5: in the top 25 winning in the fourth quarter were 97-0.
- 14:12Speaker 5: If they had a lead, they are now one 97
- 14:15Speaker 5: and one because of Texas did the improbable. And so
- 14:19Speaker 5: I'm just saying, if you allow a team like Texas
- 14:22Speaker 5: to get back into a game, when you're up that big,
- 14:25Speaker 5: They're going to find a way to beat you because
- 14:27Speaker 5: they have the talent. And this is again, right back
- 14:29Speaker 5: to the entire premise of X's and O's can only
- 14:31Speaker 5: take you so far. Jimmy's and Joe's are going to
- 14:35Speaker 5: be able to outweigh it because of talent outseeds performance
- 14:39Speaker 5: at times, especially when you let them back into the game.
- 14:42Speaker 5: So Texas to me is still a 10 win roster.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Texas to me is still a playoff team and Ohio
- 14:46Speaker 5: state's still a playoff team, which is why like everyone
- 14:48Speaker 5: was like freaking out of like, how do you like,
- 14:50Speaker 5: where do you place Ohio state in the AP rankings
- 14:53Speaker 5: this week?
- 14:53Speaker 3: They went down to number six.
- 14:55Speaker 5: I don't have a problem with that. If you want
- 14:56Speaker 5: to put them at number four, I wouldn't have a
- 14:58Speaker 5: problem with that. It's a one-point loss on the road.
- 15:00Speaker 5: It's just the fact that it was implosion. The final
- 15:03Speaker 5: score ended up being a 24-23 win because of a
- 15:07Speaker 5: game-winning field goal. And it was back-and-forth blows. Would anybody
- 15:11Speaker 5: have a problem if Ohio State was at number four?
- 15:13Speaker 3: Probably not. And that's why I don't have a problem
- 15:14Speaker 3: if they're at number six.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I would have a slight problem with it. I will
- 15:18Speaker 1: say that. I think Miami is better.
- 15:21Speaker 3: I think Miami should be too. I've said that for
- 15:23Speaker 3: a while.
- 15:24Speaker 5: So.
- 15:25Speaker 1: if you wanted to keep them ahead of Indiana, I
- 15:27Speaker 1: guess that's fine.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I would have had Indiana higher anyway, just because of,
- 15:31Speaker 2: you know, well, no, I wouldn't have.
- 15:34Speaker 1: So yeah, maybe five, but yeah. Are you going to
- 15:35Speaker 1: split hair?
- 15:36Speaker 2: And we talked about this when we did the AP
- 15:37Speaker 2: segment the last time the, I don't know that I'm
- 15:41Speaker 2: going to die over. If so, a team is five
- 15:43Speaker 2: versus six or seven versus four. Like I think, I
- 15:47Speaker 2: think one through seven is incredibly close. Like the margins
- 15:52Speaker 2: are so thin and Texas deserves to be one right now.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I think Miami should be too. I think Notre Dame,
- 15:58Speaker 2: Georgia three and four. I mean, all that's fine. I
- 16:00Speaker 2: think the margins are so thin that dropping Ohio state
- 16:03Speaker 2: to nine.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I would have, I might've, I might've had LSU one
- 16:09Speaker 2: ahead of Ohio state. I think they deserve the credit from,
- 16:13Speaker 2: you know, the Clemson, the Clemson win.
- 16:16Speaker 3: That George Southern game is a dangerous threat in the,
- 16:18Speaker 3: in the somehow boys. That's all I will say.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Clay Helton's got the boys early. I, I, despite Nick
- 16:23Speaker 2: Saban's best attempts to tell us that, you know, good
- 16:25Speaker 2: losses are, are, are what we should really be valuing
- 16:28Speaker 2: in this sport.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Not excellence. Um, I would, I would give LSU's win.
- 16:34Speaker 2: I would give LSU's win over Clemson more credit than
- 16:37Speaker 2: Ohio state's loss against Texas. Maybe that's just the old
- 16:41Speaker 2: school way of thinking, but I, uh, Yeah, it's not
- 16:45Speaker 2: only the implosion. It's the fact that, again, I don't
- 16:48Speaker 2: think Ohio State went out and took this game to Texas.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Sure.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I think a lot of their lead was because Texas
- 16:53Speaker 2: was brain dead for a half.
- 16:55Speaker 4: There was that. And then I think they got to
- 16:58Speaker 4: figure things out offensively. I texted you guys this. Arthur
- 17:01Speaker 4: Smith's game plan is Calvin Johnson circa Detroit Lions.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It is.
- 17:05Speaker 3: It is.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Feed Jeremiah Smith, who's your Calvin Johnson in this respect.
- 17:10Speaker 4: And then you just kind of figure everything else out
- 17:12Speaker 4: from there. And that is not a recipe for success.
- 17:15Speaker 4: It was basically by the end of the first half,
- 17:18Speaker 4: the second half, Texas was like, okay, we're going to
- 17:20Speaker 4: make sure you just can't get to Jeremiah Smith. It's
- 17:22Speaker 4: not that they have a bad wide receiver core. It's
- 17:24Speaker 4: the game plan where it's like, Hey, we know where
- 17:26Speaker 4: you want to go with the football. You're designing things
- 17:28Speaker 4: to go to him. If anything, you're forcing plays to
- 17:30Speaker 4: go to Jeremiah Smith. So we're going to make you
- 17:33Speaker 4: make your second, third read. And we're going to get
- 17:35Speaker 4: to you. You're not necessarily running the ball extremely well.
- 17:38Speaker 4: So Ohio State's got to figure that out. Ryan Day
- 17:41Speaker 4: has a number of examples now where he has major
- 17:43Speaker 4: losses against top five, top 10 opponents, where he gets
- 17:46Speaker 4: conservative late in the game and he takes his foot
- 17:48Speaker 4: off the gas. You have to have that killer instinct.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I do have to ask both of you real fast.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Is your opinion of Ryan Day change at all?
- 17:54Speaker 4: No, I love the Jim Harbaugh quote that he woke
- 17:56Speaker 4: up on third base or was born on third base.
- 17:59Speaker 4: I think that's still very accurate. He won a national title,
- 18:01Speaker 4: so I'll give him all the credit in the world.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Ohio State is a factory at this point, and he
- 18:04Speaker 4: is a very good CEO for this program. But there's
- 18:08Speaker 4: still instances where you're like, hmm, big game moments. It
- 18:12Speaker 4: can be a little tricky.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I genuinely want to see him get fired.
- 18:16Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 18:17Speaker 3: But there's a reason for it.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Ryan Day?
- 18:19Speaker 3: No, there's a reason for it. No, Cole, I don't need.
- 18:22Speaker 2: A good job on the market. I need no one
- 18:24Speaker 2: to get fired. I'm the biggest Lincoln Riley fan, unless
- 18:29Speaker 2: he'll come to tally.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Okay, Ryan Day come to tally. Ryan Day come to tally.
- 18:32Speaker 3: How about that?
- 18:33Speaker 2: I am the biggest fan of every coach on the
- 18:35Speaker 2: hot seat right now.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I need no jobs to open this offseason.
- 18:38Speaker 3: No, here's the reason I want Ryan Day fired.
- 18:40Speaker 5: The reason I want Ryan Day fired is I'm sick
- 18:42Speaker 5: and tired of hearing Ohio State fans be like.
- 18:44Speaker 3: We can get better. Who? Genuinely, who?
- 18:48Speaker 5: He's 89 and 13 and he's been to two national titles. Genuinely,
- 18:53Speaker 5: who the hell is coming on in that you're getting
- 18:54Speaker 5: that's going to be better? Because Marcus Freeman's not coming.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Kurt Cignetti's not coming. So I'm like, I'm sick of
- 19:01Speaker 5: this shit. And I'm sick of it because of, again,
- 19:03Speaker 5: I'm sick of it. Because it's like, you guys don't understand.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Like, yes, has he struggled in some of the biggest games? Absolutely.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Should they have been able to be more prepared last
- 19:12Speaker 3: season against Miami? Absolutely. Should he not have as many
- 19:16Speaker 3: losses to Michigan? Absolutely.
- 19:20Speaker 5: You're running out a guy that's been to two national titles,
- 19:22Speaker 5: and it's a game against Texas that was a top-five team. Like,
- 19:26Speaker 5: my God, if he ends up getting you back to
- 19:29Speaker 5: the playoffs in the national championship, what are you going
- 19:31Speaker 5: to do this time? Bitch, because they lost by three?
- 19:34Speaker 5: Guy's not the right dude? It's like sometimes you oversaturate everything.
- 19:39Speaker 5: I saw so many Ohio State fans.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Ryan Dank? Go pack your bags and let's get going. Okay, cool.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Tell me who's coming on in.
- 19:46Speaker 5: That's going to make sure that you're 11 and that's
- 19:48Speaker 5: 12 and 0 every single season. Oh, by the way,
- 19:51Speaker 5: great expectation for you to hire somebody if you're down
- 19:53Speaker 5: in Columbus. Hey, if you end up going 10 and 2, fired.
- 19:58Speaker 5: It's like the Nick Saban shit again.
