- 0:40Speaker 4: Over the last couple of days.
- 0:44Speaker 3: May really last couple of weeks. We have given you
- 0:48Speaker 3: the OTB Top twenty five. Now there's an ap pole,
- 0:53Speaker 3: there's a coaches poll. Those are out there, but do
- 0:57Speaker 3: they really matter?
- 0:59Speaker 2: No, They're awful. They're terrible.
- 1:01Speaker 3: If you're trying to figure out who the twenty five
- 1:05Speaker 3: best teams in college football are, well, we're gonna give
- 1:09Speaker 3: it to you here on the OTB Top twenty five.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Let's give me a quick recap.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Twenty five Boise State at twenty four, Memphis at twenty three,
- 1:20Speaker 3: Baylor twenty two, Georgia Tech twenty one, Tennessee twenty, Iowa
- 1:25Speaker 3: State nineteen, Texas A and M eighteen, Indiana seventeen, Ole,
- 1:31Speaker 3: Miss sixteen, Florida fifteen, Texas Tech at number fourteen SMU
- 1:39Speaker 3: and we'll throw it to a Landra blank Space villar
- 1:43Speaker 3: Real for the number thirteen team in the country.
- 1:46Speaker 5: The number thirteen team in the country according to the
- 1:49Speaker 5: OTB Top twenty five pole we're gonna do in the
- 1:54Speaker 5: Big Twelve at number thirteen is Arizona State.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Let's go go so.
- 2:03Speaker 5: I know that they're returning a lot of their starters,
- 2:07Speaker 5: about seventy nine percent of their team from last year's
- 2:11Speaker 5: coming back this year. You know when the Big twelve
- 2:14Speaker 5: came out of nowhere and kind of just made a
- 2:17Speaker 5: name for themselves. Yeah, they made a name for themselves,
- 2:20Speaker 5: obviously headed up by Cam Skataboo. They lose Cam this season,
- 2:26Speaker 5: and I obviously that's a big hit. They have Sam
- 2:28Speaker 5: Levitt still who is now in the top ten to
- 2:32Speaker 5: win the High like projected to win the Heismans tied
- 2:35Speaker 5: with Gunner Stockton and one other person I can't remember who.
- 2:39Speaker 5: But they have Kayson Brown at running back to fit
- 2:44Speaker 5: that or to replace Cam s Kataboo. They also get
- 2:47Speaker 5: Army transfer Kanye uda Udo Junior. So yeah, shout out Kanye.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Kayson Brown got some minutes last season two and win camp.
- 3:03Speaker 4: The three guys named Brown last name Brown.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah, at the running back position, but that doesn't confusing
- 3:08Speaker 3: at all.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Leak Brown is the other one. So they do miss
- 3:14Speaker 5: Camp's gottaboo. That's gonna be a big hit that they take.
- 3:17Speaker 5: But I'm looking at their schedule. So we were talking
- 3:19Speaker 5: about this yesterday. I don't remember if it was on
- 3:21Speaker 5: air or off air, but you know, Matt was talking
- 3:24Speaker 5: about how you're trying to predict how they're gonna end
- 3:28Speaker 5: the season, and I just find Arizona State on the
- 3:32Speaker 5: outside looking in. First went out for the College Football
- 3:35Speaker 5: Playoff this season. I'm looking at their schedule and it's
- 3:38Speaker 5: pretty favorable. They start off at Arizona State versus Northern Arizona,
- 3:42Speaker 5: and then they played Mississippi State Texas State, but then
- 3:46Speaker 5: they got Baylor at Baylor on September twentieth, host TCU
- 3:52Speaker 5: at Utah, and then they host Texas Tech Houston at
- 3:56Speaker 5: Iowa State, host West Virginia at College Dodo, and then
- 4:01Speaker 5: they close off the season versus Arizona at home as well.
- 4:05Speaker 5: And you know, we got a few of these in
- 4:07Speaker 5: our top twenty five, so we got Texas Tech up there,
- 4:10Speaker 5: we got Baylor, and I just think that like the
- 4:13Speaker 5: schedule is going to be where they're going to have
- 4:17Speaker 5: a little bit of challenges, especially with Texas Tech and.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Baylor's chaotic energy surrounding in a good way. Yeah, it's
- 4:28Speaker 3: going to be like week to week, it's going to
- 4:30Speaker 3: be very difficult to win games there.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Yeah, so that's who I got at thirteen Arizona State.
- 4:36Speaker 5: I felt like it was going to be maybe unpopular
- 4:38Speaker 5: in this room.
- 4:39Speaker 4: But yeah, I don't know.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Arizona State's a good football team. I think Arizona State,
- 4:42Speaker 3: like you said, returns a ton of production. They've got
- 4:45Speaker 3: Sam Levitt, They've got Jordan Tyson. Jordan Tyson missed obviously.
- 4:49Speaker 3: The run last year was out of that quarterfinal game
- 4:52Speaker 3: against Texas, a double overtime loss. They were a play away.
- 4:55Speaker 3: If they stop them on that fourth down, they win
- 4:57Speaker 3: the game. And that was without their best receiver. So
- 5:00Speaker 3: camp Scataboo certainly was the engine on that team.
- 5:03Speaker 4: I understand that.
- 5:04Speaker 3: But if there's one position that you can replace quickly,
- 5:07Speaker 3: it is the running back positions. Well, we always say it,
- 5:10Speaker 3: young guys, freshmen can come in. There's not a lot
- 5:14Speaker 3: of thinking when it comes to that position in today's
- 5:16Speaker 3: college football because you don't have a lot of pass
- 5:19Speaker 3: protection responsibilities anymore. There's no cross scanning key protections anymore.
- 5:24Speaker 3: It's like you'll check Will linebacker and get out, you'll
- 5:27Speaker 3: free release and get out. You'll check maybe Will free
- 5:30Speaker 3: safety and get out. So they've got a couple of
- 5:33Speaker 3: running backs that I think it's going to be by
- 5:34Speaker 3: committee for sure. They're not going to replace Cam Skataboo
- 5:37Speaker 3: with one player. You can get a thousand yard rusher
- 5:39Speaker 3: from Army, that is great, but he is look coming
- 5:43Speaker 3: from Army. Pass protection probably had three of those all
- 5:46Speaker 3: year longer a year ago, so that's going to be
- 5:49Speaker 3: something to pay attention to. But for Arizona State as
- 5:51Speaker 3: a program, think about where they were for the last
- 5:56Speaker 3: two years. Like Kenny Dillingham, I think is one of
- 5:59Speaker 3: the best young coaches in college football. Think of what
- 6:01Speaker 3: he did with Bo Nicks by the way, coming from
- 6:02Speaker 3: Auburn to Oregon. But they had like seventy plus players
- 6:07Speaker 3: each like the last two seasons through the portal or
- 6:10Speaker 3: high school, like seventy new players. You take a look
- 6:13Speaker 3: this year and it's not this year was all about
- 6:16Speaker 3: retaining the players they had that had them in a
- 6:19Speaker 3: quarter final situation.
- 6:21Speaker 4: One play away from a semi final.
- 6:23Speaker 3: So Kenny Dillingham said, this year we spend our money
- 6:26Speaker 3: retaining our guys because now we've built the foundation, we
- 6:29Speaker 3: don't have to do a deep dive like we have
- 6:32Speaker 3: one of the leaders in the portal over the last
- 6:34Speaker 3: couple of years. We can dabble in the portal. We
- 6:36Speaker 3: can go get players, which they certainly have. They bring
- 6:39Speaker 3: in a running back, they bring in a center, they
- 6:41Speaker 3: bring in three receivers. But now they feel like they're
- 6:44Speaker 3: program's at a place where it's about keeping the guys
- 6:47Speaker 3: that you brought there, building that foundation, building new buildings,
- 6:51Speaker 3: or getting an indoor facility. They don't have one of those.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Arizona State's facilities aren't the best. That's where I worked
- 6:57Speaker 3: out for the combine. I can tell you it's not now.
- 7:00Speaker 3: The city's great, the weather's great that time of the year,
- 7:03Speaker 3: but they want to start to build the foundation of
- 7:05Speaker 3: the program. Kenny Dengham is from Tempe, went to Arizona State.
- 7:10Speaker 3: He's a perfect coach for the sun Devils.
- 7:12Speaker 4: I like him.
- 7:16Speaker 2: They were certainly we're getting, you know, a little big
- 7:20Speaker 2: twelve happy here, and I like it because we're excited
- 7:22Speaker 2: about this Big twelve conference, the chaos that it could
- 7:25Speaker 2: potentially have all these people and we're saying seven six, seven,
- 7:29Speaker 2: eight teams with a legit shot that may be bringing
- 7:32Speaker 2: home a Big twelve title. I like this pick kind
- 7:35Speaker 2: of It's kind of gonna be where is the rest
- 7:38Speaker 2: of this crew? Where are we going to fit Kansas
- 7:40Speaker 2: State in? Are we just gonna kick them out? Are
- 7:41Speaker 2: we going to put them in the top ten or
- 7:44Speaker 2: close to that ten range? Like? What are we going
- 7:45Speaker 2: to do with the next.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Couple of picks, because you it's a big decision. You
- 7:49Speaker 4: got number eleven coming your way there, ball.
- 7:51Speaker 2: But here's my thing is, look, Arizona State last year
- 7:55Speaker 2: caught lightning in a bottle. You just said it. Camp
- 7:57Speaker 2: Scatterboot was the engine. But I'll make the argument that
- 8:00Speaker 2: he was the engine, he was the fuel, he was
- 8:02Speaker 2: the tires, he was the driver, he.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Was everything.
- 8:07Speaker 2: So I think there is going to be like an emotional,
- 8:11Speaker 2: physical like chasm right there that's gonna be hard to fill.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I to play a little bit of contrary, and I
- 8:19Speaker 2: think they have a little setback this year because I
- 8:23Speaker 2: just think he met so much.
- 8:24Speaker 5: I watched the game and that's why I put them
- 8:27Speaker 5: at thirteen because you know, we got the twelve team
- 8:30Speaker 5: playoff and I'm like, okay, I just feel like this
- 8:32Speaker 5: season they're gonna find themselves on the outside looking in
- 8:35Speaker 5: because they're missing that huge piece of like you said,
- 8:38Speaker 5: the emotional aspect of it. Like that's bigger than I mean,
- 8:42Speaker 5: it's not bigger than like the skill, but it's bigger
- 8:44Speaker 5: than what people think it is. Like having that that engine,
- 8:48Speaker 5: the fuel, the everything is gonna be a big hit
- 8:52Speaker 5: on Arizona State.
- 8:53Speaker 6: Now.
- 8:53Speaker 5: I do still think that they stay in the game
- 8:56Speaker 5: and they like thirteen is still a good spot to
- 8:59Speaker 5: be at, but I do think that it's going to
- 9:01Speaker 5: be a big hit. And like you said, I'm meant
- 9:04Speaker 5: to say, but like it was kind of like catching
- 9:06Speaker 5: lightning in a bottle and it didn't like at the
- 9:08Speaker 5: end of the season is when they really really started
- 9:10Speaker 5: to pick it up. So I just find I just
- 9:13Speaker 5: think that they find themselves on the outside looking in
- 9:16Speaker 5: this season.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Yeah, Like if if cam Skataboo was back, they'd probably
- 9:21Speaker 3: be in the top seven. Yeah, I think thirteen is
- 9:23Speaker 3: a perfect spot for them because they're missing that. You
- 9:26Speaker 3: go get somebody who's run for a thousand yards on
- 9:29Speaker 3: a ten win team a year ago. Let's see how
- 9:31Speaker 3: he translates from the service academy and the option and
- 9:35Speaker 3: to you know. Now, I will say this about Arizona
- 9:37Speaker 3: State's run game. When you turn it on, it's not
- 9:40Speaker 3: inside zone. It's inside zone, it's outside zone, it's counter,
- 9:44Speaker 3: it's power, it's trapped, it is everything.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Like when you look at their run chart, it's distinguished. Okay,
- 9:52Speaker 4: like it is. It has got every run available. That's
- 9:55Speaker 4: what made them unpredictable.
- 9:56Speaker 3: So they've got to find ways to integrate these three
- 10:00Speaker 3: new running backs into their system not fall into tendencies
- 10:03Speaker 3: because it's going to take three people to replace camp Scattaboy.
- 10:06Speaker 4: You don't replace the meathead player of the year as
- 10:09Speaker 4: one guy.
- 10:09Speaker 2: No, what iscattaboy going to be considered Stump back?
- 10:13Speaker 4: Yep, what do you play? Stump?
- 10:16Speaker 2: Stump?
- 10:16Speaker 4: Just stump. We don't even need you need the back
- 10:19Speaker 4: part of it.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Stump labels. Actually I really like Stump. I think the
- 10:24Speaker 3: person might have thought that it was gonna be some shade, but.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I love it Stump.
- 10:29Speaker 5: I just thought that y'all were going to think that
- 10:31Speaker 5: it might have been too low. But that was the
- 10:33Speaker 5: only reason why I thought it was going.
- 10:34Speaker 4: To be eleven or something.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Well, I don't know. I just thought maybe y'all Taylor,
- 10:43Speaker 5: I thought that y'all. Yeah, I thought that y'all would
- 10:45Speaker 5: have had them ranked a little higher than I would.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Have higher number or better.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Yeah, higher means tailing up like top ten.
- 10:54Speaker 5: I meant like, I thought, y'all think they're worthy of
- 10:57Speaker 5: you college.
- 10:59Speaker 7: I think is gonna give a no.
- 11:02Speaker 8: I think this is a terrible pick. I don't really
- 11:05Speaker 8: know what I'm kidding. I told her I was gonna
- 11:06Speaker 8: do that before.
- 11:08Speaker 7: I think this is right.
- 11:08Speaker 8: If you would have picked him at thirteen, I probably
- 11:11Speaker 8: would have picked him at twelve.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Probably right.
- 11:14Speaker 7: I think killing see this team going nine and three,
- 11:18Speaker 7: I'm with you. I think it's a slight step back.
- 11:20Speaker 8: But nine and three is about thirteen or fourteen three
- 11:23Speaker 8: eight team in the country.
- 11:24Speaker 7: Probably. I think Camp Scattaboo is a big loss.
- 11:26Speaker 8: But remember Sam Levitt forst year starting quarterback a year ago.
- 11:30Speaker 7: He's back.
- 11:31Speaker 2: He was really good.
- 11:32Speaker 8: Yeah, and people want to talk about weapons back. He
- 11:35Speaker 8: got Jordan Tyson, who's one of the best receivers in
- 11:37Speaker 8: the country. Jordan Tyson did not play in their playoff run.
- 11:40Speaker 8: Last year due to an injury, so like, that's actually
- 11:43Speaker 8: a weapon back that they did not have at the
- 11:46Speaker 8: end of the year when they were playing so well.
- 11:48Speaker 8: So that's kind of an added weapon that they didn't have.
- 11:50Speaker 8: So I think this is a good pick. Plus, I
- 11:52Speaker 8: trust Kenny Dillingham, Like, I get it. Camp Scataboo was
- 11:55Speaker 8: emotionally he was the leader of that team, but he
- 11:58Speaker 8: Dillingham's kind of that guy also, So I think they'll
- 12:00Speaker 8: be fine. I think there's a little step back, but
- 12:02Speaker 8: I mean I can see nine and three, thirteen, thirteen
- 12:04Speaker 8: fourteen for me would have been fun.
- 12:06Speaker 5: And I know that they're ranked above them in our
- 12:09Speaker 5: O t B preseason poll. But I just feel like
- 12:12Speaker 5: Texas Tech is going to be the standout of the
- 12:14Speaker 5: Big twelve this season.
- 12:15Speaker 4: CBS Sports picked to win the Big Twelve real yesterday. Yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 4: look at me.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Were they listening to this show? Obviously obviously. Yeah. I'm
- 12:24Speaker 2: kind of like, I.
- 12:25Speaker 8: Mean, yeah, probably in the Air twenty.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Because in my head, I'm like, Texas Tech is gonna
- 12:31Speaker 2: be the They're gonna they're gonna win those tough games.
- 12:34Speaker 2: They're gonna split with Kansas State and Arizona State. I
- 12:38Speaker 2: think it's gonna be super tricky. I'd like to see
- 12:43Speaker 2: Texas Tech one.
- 12:44Speaker 5: That's like the blind ranking aspect of this is.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I'm so excited for the Big Twelve because.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think any of us are gonna they
- 12:52Speaker 3: We're gonna have Pig Michigan.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I do think that the Big Twelve is going to
- 12:58Speaker 2: be the much higher quality version of the Mac of
- 13:04Speaker 2: maction this year. I think it's gonna be nuts. I
- 13:06Speaker 2: think it's gonna be insane. I think there's gonna be
- 13:08Speaker 2: crazy games, wild plays happening at the end to win
- 13:12Speaker 2: big games that are meaningful in that race for the
- 13:15Speaker 2: Big Twelve championship. I think it's gonna be wild.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I did too. Can't wait.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Can't wait to see how it plays out. It was
- 13:20Speaker 3: great last year. I think it's gonna be even better
- 13:22Speaker 3: this year. And I don't think it's going to be
- 13:24Speaker 3: you know, bad football teams trying to see who's going
- 13:27Speaker 3: to win. I think it's gonna be good football teams
- 13:29Speaker 3: fighting towards the top. Now they might only get one
- 13:31Speaker 3: playoff team because of it, only the champion, because you're
- 13:34Speaker 3: gonna have three losses because everybody's gonna beat up on everybody,
- 13:37Speaker 3: But I think it's going to be high level football,
- 13:40Speaker 3: all right, So when we come back yesterday and we'll
- 13:43Speaker 3: get into our LSU discussion. Yesterday I put out a
- 13:46Speaker 3: poll that had over six hundred votes the position group
- 13:51Speaker 3: that LSU's.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Fan base thinks has to raise their.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Level of play for LSU to be successful this fall.
- 13:57Speaker 3: We'll tell you which group got picked, will break down
- 14:00Speaker 3: on that group, and we'll do it when we come
- 14:01Speaker 3: back here on.
- 14:02Speaker 6: O TV mofter bench.
- 14:08Speaker 3: All right, go to gcopnet dot com. That is a
- 14:12Speaker 3: website for Gulf Coast office products. So if you are
- 14:16Speaker 3: looking for these standard in Louisiana and you've got a
- 14:19Speaker 3: law firm, engineering firm, universities, banks, hospitals, medical services, I mean,
- 14:24Speaker 3: so many big businesses that they can help out with
- 14:27Speaker 3: because look, you have to print documents.
- 14:29Speaker 4: You have to have the ability to know that when
- 14:32Speaker 4: you press the.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Print button, right, everything's going to work like it's supposed
- 14:36Speaker 3: to be working. Because obviously, like time is going to
- 14:39Speaker 3: be very important in all the things that we just
- 14:41Speaker 3: listened out there, right, So Louisiana's trusted source, New Orleans, Baton,
- 14:45Speaker 3: uge Manuville, Lafayette, go to the website today to see
- 14:48Speaker 3: what they can do for you.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Gcop net dot com Louisiana's leading copier and printer source.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Proud partners of LSU Tigers, the Saints, the Pelicans, you
- 14:58Speaker 2: name it. They are very trusted and they are a
- 15:00Speaker 2: big company, but they act like a small local. Come
- 15:03Speaker 2: they will help you out. Gc op net dot.
- 15:05Speaker 6: Com blocked in on l s U football twenty four
- 15:33Speaker 6: to seven.
- 15:34Speaker 1: You're listening to off the Bench.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Day hands.
- 15:42Speaker 4: This is a good one.
- 15:44Speaker 2: You know what day it is? Fus Friday.
- 15:48Speaker 4: It's what Friday Friday?
- 15:52Speaker 2: Okay, dude, it's a family show.
- 15:59Speaker 4: From seven to eighty.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Sure is.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Eight nineteen bough.
- 16:03Speaker 2: State, nineteen gids. It already dropped off, all right.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yesterday I put out a poll which position group must
- 16:17Speaker 3: elevate its play the most for LSU to succeed this fall.
- 16:21Speaker 3: You had four options defensive backs, running backs, offensive line,
- 16:26Speaker 3: defensive line. It had six hundred and eleven votes. Which
- 16:31Speaker 3: one do we think? Matthew won the vote?
- 16:37Speaker 2: I believe on the vote, I believe it'd be offensive one.
- 16:40Speaker 8: All right, elandra Line, I've seen it so like I
- 16:47Speaker 8: know the answer.
- 16:50Speaker 7: Was honest.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I think it's O line and then in second, uh.
- 16:56Speaker 7: Defensive back.
- 16:56Speaker 9: So I voted on that poll, and I took it
- 16:59Speaker 9: to literal because you said raise your level of play,
- 17:04Speaker 9: I mean raise your level of play from a year ago,
- 17:07Speaker 9: or exceed expectations.
- 17:08Speaker 4: I said elevate, because if.
- 17:10Speaker 8: You want to elevate your play from a year ago,
- 17:12Speaker 8: it's a defensive back all day long.
- 17:14Speaker 7: Because offensive line was actually good last year.
- 17:17Speaker 4: No, I don't live in the past. I didn't put
- 17:18Speaker 4: last year.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I'm just talking to elevate their play from where they
- 17:20Speaker 3: currently are right now.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Offensive line, all right, I misread the question. Then nobody
- 17:25Speaker 2: really knows how they're doing right now except for the coaches.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been out to a couple of times. It's
- 17:33Speaker 4: the offensive line, guess.
- 17:35Speaker 2: I mean.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I would say here's the vote, real quick. Defensive backs
- 17:38Speaker 3: twenty one point eight percent of the vote. Running backs,
- 17:41Speaker 3: which I was a little surprised, four point one percent
- 17:44Speaker 3: of the vote. There's some concerns behind Caden Durham at
- 17:47Speaker 3: running back.
- 17:48Speaker 8: I think that's the thing, though, I think everybody's so
- 17:49Speaker 8: high on Caden.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I mean, Caden's a very tough young man, played through
- 17:54Speaker 3: a pretty painful injury last year, but still like behind him.
- 17:59Speaker 3: There's two scholarship guys, So that's a little surprise. He
- 18:03Speaker 3: only got four point one percent of the vote. Defensive
- 18:05Speaker 3: line got eleven point nine percent of the vote. I
- 18:08Speaker 3: think that tells you just how well Ky Williams is
- 18:10Speaker 3: done with these defensive tackles in a short period of time.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Because you felt good about the edge rushers already, it
- 18:16Speaker 3: was the defensive tackle. So that's actually a pretty good sign.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Offensive line sixty two point two percent of the vote.
- 18:24Speaker 8: It should be the only position you have a big
- 18:27Speaker 8: question mark about right now, like I haven't been to
- 18:29Speaker 8: practice in this week. Unless something just drastically changed, the
- 18:32Speaker 8: dvs are actually pretty good. At least you have a
- 18:35Speaker 8: healthy rotation like O line right now is a concern
- 18:38Speaker 8: for me.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Look, the vote comes off of the unknown for the
- 18:43Speaker 2: offensive line. That that's what the vote is. It's not
- 18:45Speaker 2: like how it's worded or whatever. It's like, what's the
- 18:47Speaker 2: biggest concern for you, because it's the biggest unknown in
- 18:49Speaker 2: that's offensive line, Like defensive backs, is it an unknown
- 18:53Speaker 2: because we haven't really seen the new people play. Yes,
- 18:56Speaker 2: that's a big unknown, but it's easier to watch and
- 18:59Speaker 2: judge defensive back play in training camp and it is
- 19:03Speaker 2: offensive line. Like it's hard to just sit there and
- 19:05Speaker 2: judge how an offensive line without watching the film, Without
- 19:08Speaker 2: watching the film like, it's hard to see it from
- 19:10Speaker 2: a from the view, like a field level view. It's
- 19:13Speaker 2: hard to really see who's actually playing well. I mean,
- 19:16Speaker 2: you can see who's physically dominant in like one on
- 19:18Speaker 2: ones and half line things like that, but you really
- 19:20Speaker 2: don't know who's like nailing their assignments. And we watched
- 19:24Speaker 2: that clip of the Saints the other day. Everybody did
- 19:27Speaker 2: their assignment except for and it wasn't a physical thing,
- 19:31Speaker 2: it was a mental thing. Those are the types of
- 19:33Speaker 2: mistakes that you can't see from a field level just
- 19:36Speaker 2: watching it one time when you're going to value the practice.
- 19:38Speaker 2: But you can certainly evaluate a dB that's flying around,
- 19:41Speaker 2: batten down balls, covering people up, making the right run
- 19:45Speaker 2: fits INTERCEPTI path. That's easy to like, easy to see.
- 19:48Speaker 2: So I think with the reports coming out from training camp,
- 19:50Speaker 2: that is not as big of an unknown. I think
- 19:52Speaker 2: everybody is pretty common consensus that we are so much
- 19:55Speaker 2: more improved from last year. Now. The offensive line we
- 19:59Speaker 2: don't know because we don't know, like you don't know
- 20:01Speaker 2: what you don't know, and that's what we will find out.
- 20:04Speaker 2: But we're not going to find out as a fan
- 20:06Speaker 2: base or as media. We're not gonna find out till
- 20:10Speaker 2: Game one.
- 20:13Speaker 3: That's actually a really good point by you, and I
- 20:15Speaker 3: don't say that very often. It was a really good
- 20:18Speaker 3: point by you because you're right about like that is
- 20:20Speaker 3: a position where you do have to get the end
- 20:24Speaker 3: zone copy.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yep.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I want to see like it is it angles is
- 20:28Speaker 3: an assignment because when we broke down Sesarrewi's missing it.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Like initially I.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Was like, man, what was he doing with like there
- 20:35Speaker 3: was no kickstep and there wasn't, but it was because
- 20:38Speaker 3: of a mental era.
- 20:39Speaker 4: It wasn't just like.
- 20:39Speaker 3: That's his his his eyes were in the wrong place.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Everybody else was doing the right thing. Great job by
- 20:46Speaker 3: the running back, incredible job by the center coming back
- 20:49Speaker 3: and helping clean up. It was the right guard he
- 20:51Speaker 3: was looking in the wrong place. Then his footwork turned
- 20:54Speaker 3: to trash and he messed up. Those are the things
- 20:57Speaker 3: that you're talking about, Like right now, it's tough. Is
- 21:00Speaker 3: it physically? Is it mentally? Is it both?
- 21:03Speaker 6: Like?
- 21:03Speaker 3: Those are the things on the offensive line that you've
- 21:05Speaker 3: got to go. You gotta watch the end zone copy
- 21:07Speaker 3: of it. If you're watching one on ones and you're
- 21:09Speaker 3: giving a practice report based off that, you're doing it wrong,
- 21:11Speaker 3: I'm just I'm just telling you from experience.
- 21:15Speaker 4: Because one on ones.
- 21:17Speaker 3: A lot for receivers versus dbs. That's a receiver drill
- 21:22Speaker 3: for D line versus O lines, a D line drill
- 21:24Speaker 3: for backers versus running backs, that's a linebacker drill. Now,
- 21:27Speaker 3: like routes on air backs on backers, that's a running
- 21:30Speaker 3: back drill. Like that's it's pretty easy for me to
- 21:33Speaker 3: win one on one with the backer routes on you know,
- 21:35Speaker 3: one on one routes, but for pass protection because it's
- 21:39Speaker 3: not game like he's he's gonna have a little bit
- 21:41Speaker 3: of advantage.
- 21:42Speaker 4: I would say sixty five thirty five.
- 21:44Speaker 3: So, like if you're basing it off like the one
- 21:46Speaker 3: on one drills that they do in camp, I'm not
- 21:48Speaker 3: saying they're not important.
- 21:49Speaker 2: They're all important. They're extremely important, But.
- 21:51Speaker 3: You can't base how the group is playing together based
- 21:54Speaker 3: off that. Yep, Like the offensive line, I do think
- 21:57Speaker 3: it needs to to trend in a different direction.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Now.
- 22:00Speaker 3: The surprise has been like it's the tackles on the
- 22:03Speaker 3: days that I've gone that have played really well. It's
- 22:05Speaker 3: the interior guys where you actually have some guys that
- 22:07Speaker 3: have played that are struggling a little bit right now.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Center position is doing pretty good, but don't base your
- 22:15Speaker 3: kind of view point on the offensive line based off
- 22:17Speaker 3: one on ones.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Well they it's a lot of new guys were rotating
- 22:20Speaker 2: in and a lot of the issues you see, especially
- 22:23Speaker 2: early in camp, are normal with new positions, a new
- 22:27Speaker 2: personnel the offense line, because most of it, like we
- 22:29Speaker 2: just laid out, is mental. It's there. The eyes were wrong,
- 22:33Speaker 2: they misread, they made a bad mic call, they made
- 22:37Speaker 2: a bad kickstep because they were looking at the wrong thing,
- 22:41Speaker 2: They had the wrong cues or the wrong keys that
- 22:44Speaker 2: they were looking at. The defense on and in the
- 22:49Speaker 2: center and the guard positions is a little bit more
- 22:52Speaker 2: because there's a lot more passing off interior than there
- 22:55Speaker 2: is for the tackles. We always got, like a coach
- 22:57Speaker 2: always laid out, like the center has the football. The
- 23:01Speaker 2: closer you are to the ball, the more mental the
- 23:05Speaker 2: game is. Like the more the more higher football IQ
- 23:08Speaker 2: you have to have, and that's anything. The farther away
- 23:11Speaker 2: you are from the ball, the less football IQ you
- 23:14Speaker 2: really have to have because like so the guard and
- 23:17Speaker 2: center and the quarterback the closest to the ball, those
- 23:19Speaker 2: are the guys that have to have the highest football IQ.
- 23:21Speaker 2: They have to do the most mentally and most tackles
- 23:24Speaker 2: a little bit less because it's a lot more one
- 23:26Speaker 2: on one. Now, of course it's everybody has to have
- 23:29Speaker 2: a high football i Q, but it's just a little
- 23:30Speaker 2: bit more the closer you get to the ball. So,
- 23:34Speaker 2: uh yeah, it makes sense to me that, like if
- 23:36Speaker 2: we get into team drill or two minute drill, that
- 23:38Speaker 2: there's going to be sacks and it's like, oh my god,
- 23:40Speaker 2: this guy just got beat. Well why did he get beat?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Why did he make a wrong step because he was
- 23:44Speaker 2: looking strong side and he should have been looking weak side.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Was it a bad mic call? Like a lot of
- 23:48Speaker 2: those things work out, and you flush those things out
- 23:52Speaker 2: in the and the line gets better and better mentally,
- 23:55Speaker 2: and the more comfortable they are within the system, working
- 23:57Speaker 2: together making those reads, cutting out mental mistakes, mental errors,
- 24:01Speaker 2: slow decisions, and they just start pulling the trigger and
- 24:05Speaker 2: working together. I would see this offense one getting better
- 24:07Speaker 2: and better and better.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Uh real quick, because I know we've got our guy
- 24:10Speaker 3: the general Bobby Carpenter joining us. Someone was asking why
- 24:14Speaker 3: is one on ones a defensive drill, because it's it's
- 24:18Speaker 3: not realistic. So if I'm a left guard and I've
- 24:21Speaker 3: got a three technique, so I've got a defensive tackle
- 24:23Speaker 3: outside shade of me, all right, and we're doing one
- 24:25Speaker 3: on ones, okay, he's got so much more room to
- 24:29Speaker 3: work with than he actually would in a game. And
- 24:32Speaker 3: we always talk about this, like at guard, I've got
- 24:34Speaker 3: two bodyguards, I've got a tackle, and I've got a
- 24:36Speaker 3: center next to me, and it is a phone booth.
- 24:39Speaker 4: But when you're doing one on ones.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I mean, look, he can go all the way up
- 24:43Speaker 3: the field around you, where in a game he's running
- 24:45Speaker 3: into a tackle. Uh, there's just a lot more space.
- 24:48Speaker 3: And so the offensive line like working together in unison.
- 24:52Speaker 3: That's why it's so important because like it's just the
- 24:55Speaker 3: same thing we talk about in punt protection all the time,
- 24:57Speaker 3: like use your guard, use your tackle, you your guys
- 25:01Speaker 3: next to you right for that space and close the space.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Make it a tight space.
- 25:05Speaker 3: And so like a center in one on ones, he's
- 25:09Speaker 3: never gonna have on four feet on each side on
- 25:12Speaker 3: an island.
- 25:13Speaker 4: It's just not gonna happen well sometimes, but like very
- 25:16Speaker 4: very rarely.
- 25:16Speaker 3: If a defense does something where they're trying to attack
- 25:19Speaker 3: a center and you might have two guys that you
- 25:21Speaker 3: know go to the outside right now and you send
- 25:23Speaker 3: like a backer straight down the middle to try to
- 25:26Speaker 3: have a better athlete on a center, like that happens,
- 25:28Speaker 3: but very rarely. Same thing, you know, when it comes
- 25:31Speaker 3: to you know, pass protection backs on backers. Same thing
- 25:34Speaker 3: for me, Like if I'm running routes against backers, I've
- 25:37Speaker 3: got so much room. There's no offensive line there. I
- 25:39Speaker 3: can kind of insert wherever and you go run a route.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Bad linebacker if he covers you, you're just a bad football.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Players are running back like because there's more room than
- 25:48Speaker 3: there ever would be before.
- 25:49Speaker 4: So it's a great tool.
- 25:50Speaker 3: It's a great asset because it puts you in the
- 25:53Speaker 3: most difficult situations. But it's not something you can base
- 25:57Speaker 3: how a unit is going to play together off of.
- 26:00Speaker 2: And then like what in pass rush offensive line, let's
- 26:04Speaker 2: just say tackles versust When is an offensive lineman at
- 26:07Speaker 2: a disadvantage in a game when it's an obvious passing
- 26:10Speaker 2: down situation, when the when the defensive end knows it's
- 26:12Speaker 2: a pass and he always got to just penziers back,
- 26:14Speaker 2: make a move, swim them, pull and whatever he wants
- 26:17Speaker 2: to do well in one on ones. It's like every
- 26:19Speaker 2: time it's like I'm rushing a quarterback like it's passed.
- 26:21Speaker 2: So it's just and it puts them in a very
- 26:23Speaker 2: stressful situation. But it's great for the offensive lineman to
- 26:26Speaker 2: learn and get their physical skill like it. That's but
- 26:28Speaker 2: you can't judge how a guy's playing and camp based
- 26:32Speaker 2: on that.
- 26:33Speaker 4: All right, let's take a break. When we come back.
- 26:35Speaker 3: The General Bobby Carpenter joins us, sadly, sadly not from
- 26:40Speaker 3: the Ohio State Training facility. He's driving, which probably means
- 26:44Speaker 3: he's got to give a speech because my man gives
- 26:46Speaker 3: like three speeches per week. But he's going to give
- 26:48Speaker 3: us a speech when we come back here on O TV.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Off the bench, all right, good all star. Toy Ata

- 28:26Speaker 3: All right, what mat O TV one, O four five, ESPN,
- 28:30Speaker 3: beton Rouge. It is now time to hear from our guy,
- 28:34Speaker 3: the General Bobby Carpenter, Big Tim Bob, who I'm sure
- 28:38Speaker 3: is on the road to go give a speech to
- 28:40Speaker 3: some touchdown club, because Bobby is just the gift that
- 28:43Speaker 3: keeps on giving.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Bob, how are we doing?
- 28:46Speaker 10: I'm doing great. Thanks for having the answer. I'm not
- 28:50Speaker 10: not on the road to UH club. I actually owed
- 28:53Speaker 10: a visit Mike calendar. You're trying to get our extension rep.
- 28:55Speaker 10: Talk about stuff five just four ship. You know, holding
- 29:00Speaker 10: holding some k once in your hands is far different
- 29:03Speaker 10: than holding at.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Yes, a lot of said that, Bobby.
- 29:07Speaker 3: And though you're you're like Flynn and I too, Like
- 29:11Speaker 3: you're someone who's got like twenty seven different sources of
- 29:14Speaker 3: income as well, you've got your own business as well.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Shout out to the HVAC company up there in Columbus, Ohio.
- 29:22Speaker 3: So I'm sure like that is not fun for you.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Probably pretty stressful.
- 29:28Speaker 10: Yeah, that's that's the stuff that nobody loves to deal with.
- 29:30Speaker 10: I mean, I'm a finance guy, but like that's why
- 29:32Speaker 10: I other outsourced that pay somebody do the boring number
- 29:36Speaker 10: stuff I don't want to do. But yeah, it's it's
- 29:38Speaker 10: done near as much fun as talking ball and listening
- 29:41Speaker 10: to a little Rick James.
- 29:42Speaker 3: You guys, it is funky Friday. That's Flint Flynn wanted
- 29:47Speaker 3: a funky Friday here, so only funk music.
- 29:51Speaker 10: I love it, man, that's perfect. The super Freak is
- 29:53Speaker 10: the best ri ipter Rick James lost him twenty one
- 29:56Speaker 10: years ago, and that's that's far too long ago.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Man.
- 29:59Speaker 10: It's a rough.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Oh all right, Bob. I mean we're getting closer.
- 30:04Speaker 3: We are single digits away from Farmer getting there in
- 30:07Speaker 3: in Ireland, and like, I want to get to week
- 30:09Speaker 3: one with you, obviously, but I kind of feel like
- 30:12Speaker 3: the appetizer is getting slept on.
- 30:14Speaker 4: This is an appetizer game.
- 30:16Speaker 3: In week zero Farmageddon, that is one of the reasons
- 30:19Speaker 3: you go to the restaurant. I think Farmageddon is like
- 30:22Speaker 3: an outback. We got the bloomin onion, we got the
- 30:25Speaker 3: cheese fries, like we have reasons to go. That's not
- 30:28Speaker 3: just the main course.
- 30:30Speaker 10: Yeah, it's gonna be a great appetizer. And it's a
- 30:32Speaker 10: couple of ranked teams there. I think everybody's pretty excited
- 30:35Speaker 10: about it. The intrigue of the Big twelve of what
- 30:38Speaker 10: that can be. And let's be honest. I heard, uh,
- 30:41Speaker 10: you know a friend of mine he used to go
- 30:42Speaker 10: on with James and both all the time. Both yeah,
- 30:45Speaker 10: talking like this. It was very appropriate, you know, is it?
- 30:49Speaker 10: Like you said, it's not the main course, but it's
- 30:52Speaker 10: a really good appetizer. And because if you had meat
- 30:55Speaker 10: all day, you get the you're gonna just bound that bloom.
- 31:00Speaker 10: Like we're starving for college football, so you know what,
- 31:04Speaker 10: like on week one with Kansas State, Nihoa State, be
- 31:07Speaker 10: like the first thing you're gonna order. Probably not, but
- 31:10Speaker 10: given you look at the slate and it's been eight
- 31:13Speaker 10: since we played college football game, everybody's only ready to go.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Well, I mean, is there at that has like your
- 31:20Speaker 2: all time favorite cheese fries ever? Because Outback has one
- 31:23Speaker 2: of the most elite cheese fries that I've ever had.
- 31:26Speaker 2: You've got a local spot of chain that you just
- 31:28Speaker 2: a good fond cheese fry memory.
- 31:33Speaker 10: So I'm not a huge cheese fry guy.
- 31:35Speaker 4: We don't have a body like.
- 31:40Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm just not like, I'm not the biggest cheese
- 31:42Speaker 10: fry guy there. I like good I like onion blom
- 31:45Speaker 10: and onion on your ring, stuff like that, lost some
- 31:48Speaker 10: good chicken wings. If you get any any type of
- 31:51Speaker 10: bacon you can incorporate into an appetizer, I'm always there
- 31:54Speaker 10: for that as well. Like there's a kind of state
- 31:56Speaker 10: mobills stick to and whatever that little spection spot to
- 32:00Speaker 10: Baton Rouge last year Superior, Yeah, I was fantastic.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Hey, Bobby, I we we sent Bobby to Superior and
- 32:10Speaker 3: supper club here in in bean Rouge whenever he covered.
- 32:14Speaker 4: The U c. L A game. And Uh, Bobby, I
- 32:16Speaker 4: believe you asked.
- 32:17Speaker 3: The waiter when he was pouring your water if that
- 32:19Speaker 3: came straight from the Mississippi.
- 32:23Speaker 10: Would always love to you know, in her action just tour,
- 32:25Speaker 10: you know, just showed her out. Maybe they didn't, they
- 32:27Speaker 10: just fucking it up.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Then you want to taste the local flare? Yeah, yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 2: a little bit missipy Mississippi River water. Isn't nothing wrong
- 32:35Speaker 2: with that.
- 32:36Speaker 10: Well here's the thing now, so you know I get
- 32:38Speaker 10: in the Ohio River, which that water eventually ends up
- 32:40Speaker 10: down there by Baton Rouge, Mississippi River water coming right
- 32:45Speaker 10: through there. So you know all that's been has been
- 32:48Speaker 10: filtered for a couple of hundred more miles.
- 32:51Speaker 4: It's incredibly fair. Uh.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Bobby and I once did a show from he was
- 32:55Speaker 3: at his his lake house and we actually I think
- 32:59Speaker 3: we came up with a map that he could get
- 33:02Speaker 3: in a boat and find his way basically to my
- 33:05Speaker 3: house because you're on the Ohio River, right yeah, yeah,
- 33:09Speaker 3: you could get from your I say, Lake Acid's on
- 33:11Speaker 3: a river from there to me by getting in a boat,
- 33:16Speaker 3: right yeah.
- 33:18Speaker 10: I mean, we wouldn't even need anything else. Man, it's
- 33:21Speaker 10: a little per row boat, you know, a cruise on
- 33:23Speaker 10: out there. They take a couple of days and decent
- 33:25Speaker 10: chunk of gas. But I mean it's all He's got
- 33:27Speaker 10: his time, That's that's all you need.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Look, I just looked it up, like chat GPT is amazing.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I think I'm starting to get famous for only using
- 33:34Speaker 2: chat GPT when I'm on radio. But it's it just
- 33:36Speaker 2: told me that it takes approximately three months for water
- 33:39Speaker 2: to travel from Columbus, Ohio to Baton Rouge, Louisiana by
- 33:42Speaker 2: way of Ohio River to Mississippi River. Three months, so
- 33:46Speaker 2: you don't even need a bike.
- 33:49Speaker 10: Yeah, well, I mean I do three months a long time.
- 33:52Speaker 10: I might, I might, you know, I would rather go
- 33:55Speaker 10: a little faster with the current. And by the way,
- 33:59Speaker 10: like I'm want to start down at the tip of
- 34:01Speaker 10: the Ohio rivers. We'll kind of we'll knock like a
- 34:03Speaker 10: week or two off to begin with, anybody smart.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Uh, Bobby, you and I were talking about this the
- 34:10Speaker 3: other day over on Meadhead Radio. But Ohio State is
- 34:14Speaker 3: going to host the number one team in the country
- 34:17Speaker 3: the first game of the year. But they're going to.
- 34:19Speaker 4: Be a favorite.
- 34:20Speaker 3: It is the first time that a preseason number one
- 34:24Speaker 3: team and the A people will start the season as
- 34:26Speaker 3: an underdog. So shouldn't we have just put the Buckeyes
- 34:29Speaker 3: number one? The old Rick Flair to be the man,
- 34:32Speaker 3: you got to beat the man and just let it
- 34:34Speaker 3: play out that way.
- 34:36Speaker 10: Well, what's interesting is that's what my son said. I
- 34:39Speaker 10: have a sixth grade son. Here's State's favorite. Why aren't
- 34:42Speaker 10: they number one? Well, there's voters, the coaches or the sids,
- 34:47Speaker 10: and then there's the a p which is the writers,
- 34:50Speaker 10: you know, and they put together their list of what
- 34:52Speaker 10: they think it is they go and then you've got
- 34:54Speaker 10: the people of tea Bob your performer coach. Still if
- 34:57Speaker 10: there's the gamblers and what they think it's gonna be.
- 35:00Speaker 10: And the reality is you start looking at the top five, sixteen,
- 35:04Speaker 10: in the top ten, I mean there's a lot of
- 35:06Speaker 10: uncertainty with all those squads. There's only three of them
- 35:09Speaker 10: that are returning quarterbacks in Texas and Ohires Steed are
- 35:11Speaker 10: not one of those teams. They lost a lot of
- 35:14Speaker 10: guys and one of about double vision players drafted, so
- 35:17Speaker 10: that they're gonna be far different teams than what we
- 35:19Speaker 10: saw last year and seventy finals the Cotton Bowl, and
- 35:23Speaker 10: so because of that, I think you look at your
- 35:25Speaker 10: high seats two and a half points favorite. I mean, guys,
- 35:27Speaker 10: basically that's the home field advantage. So I mean it's
- 35:30Speaker 10: it's more or less a pick them of what you're getting.
- 35:33Speaker 10: I mean's going to put o'high Steed one. That's fine.
- 35:35Speaker 10: Texas won, that's fine. Like in the new twelve team era,
- 35:39Speaker 10: like all I got to be is in the top twelves,
- 35:41Speaker 10: Like that's all that matters to me. But the reality is,
- 35:44Speaker 10: like a lot of those teams Penn State, they should
- 35:47Speaker 10: have about Clemson, notre game. They all the shoes up there
- 35:52Speaker 10: like Gamba, Like we don't know who about a lot
- 35:54Speaker 10: of those teams.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we were talking about this the other day when
- 35:59Speaker 2: the when the AP poll came out and we're looking
- 36:03Speaker 2: at it, We're like, Okay, Texas is one, Ohio states three.
- 36:07Speaker 2: That means they must think Texas is going that first game.
- 36:10Speaker 2: But the other one that stuck out to is is
- 36:12Speaker 2: like Penn State be a number two so ranked above
- 36:15Speaker 2: Ohio State, Like what does Ohio State have to do
- 36:17Speaker 2: to have a preseason ranking number one? And then what
- 36:21Speaker 2: do you think of just the the ap and the coach?
- 36:24Speaker 2: Like every year Penn State is highly right and well
- 36:27Speaker 2: and we we kind of made this comparison that Penn
- 36:29Speaker 2: State's like the college version of the Pittsburgh Steelers. So
- 36:32Speaker 2: every year the love for Penn State, but they just
- 36:34Speaker 2: have never been able to get it done. Like how
- 36:36Speaker 2: do y'all feel, you know, Ohio State guy living in
- 36:38Speaker 2: Columbus about every single year that kind of being the messaging.
- 36:43Speaker 10: What's interesting about Penn State is like with James Franklin,
- 36:45Speaker 10: he can get a lot of grease, but they've never
- 36:47Speaker 10: really been that, you know, and especially the last five years.
- 36:51Speaker 10: What you're getting with James Franklin is when every game
- 36:54Speaker 10: you're supposed to probably lose each game to a ranked team,
- 36:58Speaker 10: and uh, you know from that, then uh you get
- 37:02Speaker 10: to the well he used to get the ball, now
- 37:04Speaker 10: you're getting the playoffs. I go, he's gonna get your
- 37:06Speaker 10: seat in two and I don't think this Sends State
- 37:08Speaker 10: team is gonna be any worse than Tennessee. They play
- 37:10Speaker 10: Ohio State in Oregon, But just can you split those
- 37:13Speaker 10: can you go all over it once? Did you win
- 37:14Speaker 10: them both? Just be twall enough? Have you got a
- 37:16Speaker 10: retorting quarterback? They have singles in they got an alan
- 37:19Speaker 10: back got granted they lost that Google Parker, granted, they
- 37:22Speaker 10: lost time Warren to find three receivers from the portal,
- 37:25Speaker 10: and so they're a pretty good spot there. That was
- 37:27Speaker 10: the one kind of issue they've had over the last
- 37:30Speaker 10: handful of years. Is it you play calling to conservatively
- 37:33Speaker 10: on the field On the outside, We'll see what Andy
- 37:36Speaker 10: calling the Ducks and went through out. But the play calling,
- 37:40Speaker 10: is it the quarterback? You know it used to be.
- 37:43Speaker 10: You can see the receivers before that. They appear to
- 37:45Speaker 10: have the problem remedy. So now you suit yourself. Is
- 37:49Speaker 10: it the calling or are they exceed conservative because the
- 37:53Speaker 10: quarterback you can't throw it more. He just look out
- 37:55Speaker 10: there still good and then drops from the checkdown. So
- 37:58Speaker 10: that's what they're gonna to figure out. But they're they
- 38:00Speaker 10: have as many returning starters that you're gonna find. They
- 38:03Speaker 10: were a good team on this shoot that they were
- 38:04Speaker 10: ill advised the interception away from potentially have a chance
- 38:08Speaker 10: to play in the National Championships. And they've got a
- 38:10Speaker 10: lot coming backing Drew Aller being a part of it
- 38:12Speaker 10: and becoming a returning starting quarterback as thumpson Penn State
- 38:17Speaker 10: in Miami for thumpson Penn State and LSU from the
- 38:21Speaker 10: only teams the top ten that have it like that matters.
- 38:24Speaker 3: That means something, Bobby, give me a team out of
- 38:29Speaker 3: the Big ten that's not Ohio State, that's not Penn State,
- 38:32Speaker 3: that's not Oregon, that has an opportunity because we always
- 38:36Speaker 3: talk about four.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Teams in the Big ten, you know, making that run.
- 38:39Speaker 3: We're not very high on Michigan here on this show,
- 38:43Speaker 3: we're doing our own top twenty five, and I don't
- 38:45Speaker 3: think Michigan is going to be included in the top
- 38:48Speaker 3: twenty five.
- 38:48Speaker 4: So who do you have as.
- 38:49Speaker 3: That four team maybe inserting themselves into the conversation and
- 38:53Speaker 3: making a playoff.
- 38:55Speaker 10: Well, I think they won ten and three last year
- 38:57Speaker 10: and you start talking about it. There's a lot of
- 38:58Speaker 10: bulls of BN Illinois though always what they're been able
- 39:01Speaker 10: to do that Luke Almeyer coming back to quarterback Bland
- 39:04Speaker 10: has proven he can build teams. They're a tough team.
- 39:07Speaker 10: They've lost them. Their schedules pretty advantageous play Ohio State.
- 39:12Speaker 10: I think they've got Indiana late. We'll see how good
- 39:15Speaker 10: Indiana they can repeat at that success. You know, been
- 39:18Speaker 10: trying to figure it out. I think they've given a
- 39:20Speaker 10: chance to win ten. They intend to have a good
- 39:22Speaker 10: chance to get in the playoffs. The team that's really
- 39:24Speaker 10: interesting to me as the team that's un ranked, and
- 39:27Speaker 10: that's the USC, because you know, everything would tell you
- 39:30Speaker 10: if you guys and you're around my page, but the
- 39:33Speaker 10: USC always has the reclus capol it like how are
- 39:35Speaker 10: they not better? And I guess that's the question, like
- 39:38Speaker 10: Umber Lincoln Riley, like since Kadan Williams is the trophy season,
- 39:42Speaker 10: like how would they not been better? And that's something
- 39:45Speaker 10: that maybe it happened this year, maybe it doesn't. But
- 39:48Speaker 10: at some point in time he's trying to click or
- 39:50Speaker 10: else he's gonna be.
- 39:56Speaker 4: It would just Bob met, there we go. We lost you.
- 40:00Speaker 3: There for a second, I thought maybe the tax man
- 40:03Speaker 3: got you.
- 40:05Speaker 5: No, I'm so good.
- 40:06Speaker 10: Yeah. I feel like USC should be able because they
- 40:09Speaker 10: should be there, But I don't would be about fourteen
- 40:15Speaker 10: taking me to it.
- 40:16Speaker 3: All right, there he is our guy, the general Bobby
- 40:19Speaker 3: carfind good enough to join us.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Bobby, enjoy your Friday tax Day.
- 40:24Speaker 3: We'll catch up again with you very soon, sir, and
- 40:26Speaker 3: I look forward to Wednesday's Little Meathead Radio coming back
- 40:29Speaker 3: on channel eighty four over on Series XM.

- 40:35Speaker 10: you next Wednesday. Yes, and then said, man, he was
- 40:38Speaker 10: always me this morning and I was coming.
- 40:41Speaker 4: On with you.
- 40:41Speaker 2: The head sounds good. Get those extensions in, Bobby, absolutely,
- 40:48Speaker 2: I love it.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Man.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Uh when you tell Bob to get extensions in, like,
- 40:52Speaker 3: I know we're talking taxes because that's what he's doing.
- 40:55Speaker 3: But probably he was thinking bicep extensions as well. Sure tricep,
- 40:59Speaker 3: I mean trip.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Then all the way, you know.

- 43:20Speaker 2: I'll show you a liar.
- 43:21Speaker 3: See the way, Like y'all said it up, I was

- 43:26Speaker 3: I was thinking I don't want to throw any names
- 43:30Speaker 3: out there. I was thinking different seventies. I think more
- 43:32Speaker 3: like disco, like this is a disco.
- 43:36Speaker 5: I feel like the lines kind of blur between, like.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Buggie, what a song? This gout Friday vibes.
- 43:46Speaker 4: I don't know what does it does.
- 43:49Speaker 7: But I think of funk that I do think of

- 44:11Speaker 4: It's not that I don't like, but you know, I
- 44:13Speaker 4: just didn't want disco all day long. Yeah.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Sports, hell yeah, we did talk a lot of sports.
- 44:26Speaker 2: We've been very sporty. We've been a real sport heavy

- 44:52Speaker 2: mixed messages.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Out there, but I don't really know what to believe.
- 44:56Speaker 2: He said. One message, one tweet, said rattler starting. That
- 45:01Speaker 2: was it.
- 45:01Speaker 4: That was the tweet he's starting for that day. But
- 45:03Speaker 4: I think Nick knew what he was That's actually a
- 45:05Speaker 4: really good tweet.
- 45:06Speaker 2: That's well, he backtracked. He didn't stay on his ground
- 45:10Speaker 2: because I responded to him and I said, please explain.
- 45:15Speaker 2: He said, oh my bad. I should have said practice
