Speaker 1: That when and if the Democrats return to power, they.
• 0:03
Speaker 2: Will remove the filibuster. Is that how you feel good?
• 0:05
Speaker 2: People can disagree in that point, but I think that's
• 0:07
Speaker 2: the split in their Pumpkin Party. There are those of
• 0:09
Speaker 2: us who are firmly confident that that's exactly what they do.
• 0:13
Speaker 2: And so we better move first, particularly with the things
• 0:15
Speaker 2: we want to do. We want secure elections, we want
• 0:17
Speaker 2: to further secure our board if the Democrats do it.
• 0:20
Speaker 2: It's all about turned Puerto Rico DC and the state's
• 0:24
Speaker 2: tapt the Supreme Court, what with Sidney Ward and Tansie Browns.
• 0:27
Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
• 0:31
Speaker 1: Good Saturday morning to you. Ben Ferguson with you, and
• 0:34
Speaker 1: these are some of the stories that you may have
• 0:36
Speaker 1: missed that we talked about this week on the forty
• 0:38
Speaker 1: seven Morning Update. First up. For years now, Democrats have
• 0:43
Speaker 1: made one thing crystal clear. They do not just oppose
• 0:46
Speaker 1: Donald Trump politically. They believe he represents a fundamental threat
• 0:51
Speaker 1: to the country itself. Well, now they're running off the issue.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: We're now being told in the midterm elections. We'll explain
• 0:59
Speaker 1: it all. It's a forty seven morning update and it
• 1:01
  Speaker 1: starts right now.
• 1:03
  Speaker 3: Story number one.
• 1:04
  Speaker 2: All right.
• 1:04
Speaker 1: For years now, Democrats have made one thing crystal clear.
• 1:09
Speaker 1: They do not just oppose Donald Trump politically. They believe
• 1:13
Speaker 1: he represents a fundamental threat to the country itself. That's
• 1:18
Speaker 1: part of the reason why they've said over and over
• 1:20
Speaker 1: again that they want to put Donald Trump in prison.
• 1:24
Speaker 1: Well now they're running off the issue we're now being
• 1:27
Speaker 1: told in the midterm elections. And by the way, this
• 1:31
Speaker 1: has been years in the making. Just remember what Kamala
• 1:34
Speaker 1: Harris said. She said that Donald Trump was an existential
• 1:37
Speaker 1: threat to the United States of America. Joe Biden and
• 1:41
Speaker 1: the Democratic Party have gone even further, describing Trump as
• 1:45
Speaker 1: an excidentral threat to all of us and again our
• 1:49
Speaker 1: democracy their favorite word. Now, when you think about wording
• 1:53
Speaker 1: existential threat, that means, in their view, not just wrong,
• 1:58
Speaker 1: but dangerous to the survival of the system itself. And
• 2:01
Speaker 1: that's true when it comes to the Democratic Party. Donald
• 2:04
Speaker 1: Trump is a threat to their system. Now, Democrats in
• 2:08
Speaker 1: the House and beneath the top leadership, they've used even
• 2:12
Speaker 1: more blunt words. Alyssa Slogan warned in an official Democratic response,
• 2:18
Speaker 1: the democracy is at risk if Trump's actions go unchecked.
• 2:24
Speaker 1: At rallies across the country over the weekend, you know,
• 2:27
Speaker 1: the No King's rallies, you had prominent democrats and activists
• 2:31
Speaker 1: echoing the same message, framing Trump is a danger to
• 2:34
Speaker 1: the republic and warning about authoritarianism and threats to again
• 2:39
Speaker 1: their favorite new word to love democracy. Well, now we're
• 2:43
Speaker 1: learning what they actually want to do when it comes
• 2:47
Speaker 1: to if they gain power back, if Democrats take the House.
• 2:51
Speaker 1: We learn now from the No King's rallies in their
• 2:54
Speaker 1: own words, that they are laying the groundwork for a
• 2:58
Speaker 1: law fare if Trump is quote a threat to democracy,
• 3:02
Speaker 1: an existential threat, someone putting the system at risk, that
• 3:07
Speaker 1: in their minds, aggressive investigations aren't political, they're necessary. That's
• 3:13
Speaker 1: what they said over the weekend. What does that actually mean?
• 3:16
Speaker 1: Number one, relentless investigations in a Donald Trump and the
• 3:21
Speaker 1: people around him, his inner circle now not just oversight,
• 3:26
Speaker 1: but their mission, they say, would be to dismantle and
• 3:30
Speaker 1: politically weaken what they view as a dangerous movement, meaning
• 3:34
Speaker 1: who the American people chose to be their president. The
• 3:38
Speaker 1: Democrats also said over the weekend very clearly that if
• 3:42
Speaker 1: they went back the House, they will expand their probes
• 3:46
Speaker 1: into federal agencies, they say, especially around quote elections, the
• 3:51
Speaker 1: Department of Justice actions under Trump's leadership and executive authority,
• 3:56
Speaker 1: all because Democrats have already signaled concerns about democ credit
• 4:00
Speaker 1: norms being undermined, even though they're the king pins of
• 4:03
Speaker 1: doing massive amounts of executive orders when Joe Biden was president.
• 4:09
Speaker 1: Now we also have to talk about who they're going
• 4:11
Speaker 1: to target. We have now learned that Democrats aren't just
• 4:14
Speaker 1: going to target their political adversaries. They want to target
• 4:18
Speaker 1: corporations and anyone they believe was an ally to President
• 4:23
Speaker 1: Donald Trump or conservatives. If they believe Trump's policies threatened democracy.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: They now say that companies tied to those policies will
• 4:33
Speaker 1: become part of their investigation. They also want to take
• 4:37
Speaker 1: they say, big action towards big tech and AI. Their
• 4:42
Speaker 1: framing as protecting you from misinformation, election interference, and the
• 4:48
Speaker 1: algorithm influence, but in reality, they want to go back
• 4:51
Speaker 1: to total control of AI and social media, just like
• 4:55
Speaker 1: we witness under Joe Biden and Barack Obama's time in
• 4:58
Speaker 1: office when they were sending lists of people they want
• 5:02
Speaker 1: to silence or shut down on X on Twitter, on Instagram.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: It was a conservative hit list of anyone they wanted
• 5:08
Speaker 1: to silence. Now, under the justification, of course, of combating
• 5:12
Speaker 1: threats to democracy, they want social media to crack down
• 5:16
Speaker 1: even more on individuals they say shouldn't have free speech
• 5:22
Speaker 1: and should have their content moderated by these social media platforms.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: There's no reason to believe, by the way, that big
• 5:29
Speaker 1: tech wouldn't go back to exactly what they did before,
• 5:32
Speaker 1: going after any person the Democrat or a member of
• 5:35
Speaker 1: Congress or a governor sends them that there's a conservative
• 5:39
Speaker 1: that is getting too big or too powerful online that
• 5:42
Speaker 1: they want a silence. And here's the reality. When Democrats
• 5:46
Speaker 1: say Trump is just wrong, that's politics. When they say
• 5:50
Speaker 1: the threat to democracy, that is something entirely different, because
• 5:55
Speaker 1: once you cross that line, and they've crossed it, you
• 5:58
Speaker 1: are no longer debate policy. You are now justifying using
• 6:03
Speaker 1: government tools, government power, government legal systems to stop someone
• 6:10
Speaker 1: you believe is dangerous because you don't like them. And
• 6:15
Speaker 1: that's why the twenty sixteen election was so shocking for Democrats,
• 6:20
Speaker 1: how quickly they decided to weaponize the government to go
• 6:23
Speaker 1: after Donald Trump, to overthrow the will of the people.
• 6:27
Speaker 1: The scary part is in twenty twenty six, ten years later,
• 6:31
Speaker 1: that's exactly the same playbook Democrats are going to use
• 6:35
Speaker 1: this time, because if the Democrats win, they won't just
• 6:38
Speaker 1: claim a mandate to govern. We now know they'll claim
• 6:42
Speaker 1: a mandate to investigate, a mandate to subpoena, a mandate
• 6:47
Speaker 1: to go after what they've already defined is a threat
• 6:50
Speaker 1: to the country itself. So when you step back and
• 6:54
Speaker 1: look at everything we just laid out tonight, the rhetoric,
• 6:58
Speaker 1: the warnings, the language Democrats are using, you start to
• 7:02
Speaker 1: understand what's really at stake. This isn't just about oversight,
• 7:06
Speaker 1: this isn't about subpoenas, and this is definitely not just
• 7:10
Speaker 1: about accountability. This is about the weaponization of our government,
• 7:15
Speaker 1: putting it on steroids what they did in twenty twenty,
• 7:19
Speaker 1: in twenty sixteen, and because when one party repeatedly tells
• 7:23
Speaker 1: the American people that a former president and anyone that
• 7:27
Speaker 1: supported him, anyone involved in the movement, anyone that supported
• 7:31
Speaker 1: him on election day is a threat, an existential threat
• 7:34
Speaker 1: to democracy, that changes the entire ballgame. That's not just
• 7:39
Speaker 1: politics anymore. That's justification, justification for aggressive, overreaching investigations, something
• 7:48
Speaker 1: they've already done before. It's justification for endless subpoenas, something
• 7:53
Speaker 1: they've already done before in the Democratic Party towards Donald
• 7:55
Speaker 1: Trump and anyone around him. The justification for dragging people
• 7:59
Speaker 1: into here again, something the Democrats have already done before,
• 8:03
Speaker 1: forcing testimony and putting targets on the backs of anyone
• 8:07
Speaker 1: connected to an agenda or a person or an individual
• 8:12
Speaker 1: they oppose. And history tells us something very important. When
• 8:17
Speaker 1: politicians convince themselves they are saving democracy, they will push
• 8:22
Speaker 1: the limits of power to do it. So don't think
• 8:25
Speaker 1: for a second that this would be a normal return
• 8:28
Speaker 1: to divide a government. I want to be clear. The
• 8:31
Speaker 1: no King's rally proved one thing. It's this. It won't be.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: It is a green light. That's what they're asking for.
• 8:39
Speaker 1: A green light for committee chairs to launch investigations and
• 8:43
Speaker 1: then more investigations, and then more investigations into any conservative,
• 8:49
Speaker 1: Christian or Trump supporter. It's a green light to go
• 8:52
Speaker 1: after every administration official. It's a green light to go
• 8:56
Speaker 1: after private companies that donate to Donald Trump or that
• 9:00
Speaker 1: are conservative minded. It's a green light to go after
• 9:03
Speaker 1: tech leaders and force them back into submission where they
• 9:07
Speaker 1: will do whatever the Democratic Party says, including silencing Americans.
• 9:12
Speaker 1: And it's a green light to go after political allies
• 9:16
Speaker 1: of the president of the United States of America. I
• 9:18
Speaker 1: would be one of those. By the way, this green
• 9:21
Speaker 1: light is to dominate the headlines with one goal in mind,
• 9:25
Speaker 1: stop Trump, weaken the movement, reshape the political battlefield heading
• 9:29
Speaker 1: into the presidential elections in twenty twenty eight. And here's
• 9:33
Speaker 1: the part that matters most for every single person listening
• 9:36
Speaker 1: right now. This doesn't stay in Washington because when government
• 9:40
Speaker 1: turns its focus towards investigations at this scale, it will
• 9:44
Speaker 1: impact the economy. It will impact the stability of multiple businesses,
• 9:49
Speaker 1: it will impact the future of innovation and the tone
• 9:53
Speaker 1: of political speech in this country as well, because when
• 9:57
Speaker 1: subpoenas start flying for no reason it's law fair, people
• 10:01
Speaker 1: don't just get questioned, They get cautious, they get quiet,
• 10:05
Speaker 1: and in some cases they get pushed out. So, as
• 10:08
Speaker 1: an American, the choice in twenty twenty six is actually
• 10:11
Speaker 1: bigger than just control of the House. It's about what
• 10:14
Speaker 1: kind of country we're going to be. Are we going
• 10:16
Speaker 1: to be a country where elections settle debates or a
• 10:19
Speaker 1: country where elections trigger investigations. Are we going to move forward?
• 10:24
Speaker 1: Are we going to spend years locked in political trench
• 10:27
Speaker 1: warfare where one side uses every tool it can to
• 10:30
Speaker 1: go after the other. Because the Democrats, they made it
• 10:33
Speaker 1: clear over the weekend, the warning signs are here. They
• 10:37
Speaker 1: told us what they're going to do. Believe them. They've
• 10:41
Speaker 1: told you what to fear. Believe them. And if they win,
• 10:44
Speaker 1: they've told you exactly what they're prepared to do to
• 10:47
Speaker 1: all of us. And that's exactly why it's so important
• 10:51
Speaker 1: they're walking away from these No king rallies. You understand
• 10:55
Speaker 1: exactly what they were calling for.
