- 4:16Speaker 1: dot com m hm or shall we start? You want
- 4:20Speaker 1: to do we need to talk about? Do I need
- 4:22Speaker 1: to address anything about that anymore?
- 4:24Speaker 3: To me?
- 4:24Speaker 1: This is this is what fatherhood looks like. You ain't
- 4:27Speaker 1: a true.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Dad unless you get a shaved dad. Hey, here's the deal.
- 4:31Speaker 2: You look tough. I think if there's one thing that
- 4:34Speaker 2: could be said where it's not like, oh, Sherman's just
- 4:36Speaker 2: being nice to will of like, oh you look good
- 4:39Speaker 2: with it shaved well, which I do think you look good.
- 4:42Speaker 2: You look tough.
- 4:43Speaker 1: This is the a gap. Come.
- 4:44Speaker 2: You look like you're in the league again, Like I
- 4:47Speaker 2: kind of I'm seeing it again.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I had an athletic director shoot me a message saying,
- 4:53Speaker 1: that's who told me I look twenty one. I was
- 4:56Speaker 1: trying to figure out if somebody text me and told
- 4:57Speaker 1: me I looked twenty one at AD. I'm not gonna
- 5:00Speaker 1: say which school it was. I'm sure you guys can
- 5:02Speaker 1: figure it out. You look twenty one. You got some
- 5:06Speaker 1: more eligibility.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You do, what do you mind for the viewers throwing
- 5:11Speaker 2: on the Teddy Bear hat kind of high up on
- 5:14Speaker 2: the head. You look like a first round draft pick
- 5:17Speaker 2: when you wear the just like you look like the
- 5:26Speaker 2: guy that I probably shouldn't drive here, but I'm not
- 5:29Speaker 2: going to regret it when I do.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Get the grill going. Got the chains on. The first
- 5:35Speaker 1: thing I did. I got up, I got out of bed.
- 5:36Speaker 1: When I knew I lost the bed, I'm like, yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I got to embraced this ship. Yeah, and I'm kind
- 5:40Speaker 1: of excited to get my head shaped in my face shaved.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I look right.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I looked in my closet, Yeah, and it was no,
- 5:46Speaker 1: without question, the black True Classic shirt hats. And then
- 5:50Speaker 1: I was like, it was time to bring these chains
- 5:51Speaker 1: back out of retirement. They've been sitting, They've been sitting
- 5:53Speaker 1: in my bathroom for quite some time.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I got the same Christopher necklace with a ceruleum bell
- 5:59Speaker 1: etched etch behind it for safety as I travel. Ooh,
- 6:03Speaker 1: Charles has been asking me like, when you're gonna put
- 6:05Speaker 1: the neckls back on? My God, I just feel like
- 6:07Speaker 1: I'm not as much of a necklace guy anymore. But
- 6:09Speaker 1: now now with this bald head, you look at a
- 6:12Speaker 1: black tea look and the chains are back.
- 6:16Speaker 4: It's fitting that we're talking about family while he looks
- 6:19Speaker 4: like Ben Diesel.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Great calls.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I lived my life one quarter mile at a time.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Great quote, hashchak.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Family doesn't matter if you went by an entire mile
- 6:31Speaker 1: winnings winning.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Will I almost had you.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Have me.
- 6:39Speaker 2: You didn't have me.
- 6:41Speaker 1: You didn't even have your own car. Come on, go
- 6:45Speaker 1: check out faster than furious, Go check out fast shoutouts.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Uh, there was one last thing I was gonna say.
- 6:52Speaker 2: You wanted to talk briefly about Solidarity Solidarity. You wanted
- 6:58Speaker 2: to talk about how speaking of family that we are
- 7:00Speaker 2: a family on this show. Yeah, was there anything that
- 7:04Speaker 2: you wanted to bring up with that with Solidarity heads
- 7:08Speaker 2: or how are you feeling.
- 7:09Speaker 1: There is a co host with me on this show
- 7:11Speaker 1: that they put in a bed of Nebraska minus twelve
- 7:14Speaker 1: and a half, thirteen and a half over the weekend.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Thirteen and a half but one hundred.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I did have some guys riding with me on the
- 7:21Speaker 1: game over the weekend, the Busting Bull, A couple of
- 7:23Speaker 1: gentlemen sitting behind the cameras right now, Derek and Chef.
- 7:28Speaker 1: So there's a part of me. It's like, am I
- 7:31Speaker 1: the only one going to take the bullets here on
- 7:33Speaker 1: shaving my head? Or should my for the dad's family?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Should my PT six ers? Should the captain? The seaman
- 7:40Speaker 1: Team six? The funcal club? What're you laughing about? You too?
- 7:47Speaker 1: You too, Buco.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I'm laughing because I'm laughing because I'm excited.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I truly me is wondering if you guys should be
- 7:55Speaker 1: doing this in solidarity with your boy, if we're going
- 7:58Speaker 1: to be a family, if we're going to be like this,
- 8:02Speaker 1: then I think it's only right. Did you guys do
- 8:04Speaker 1: it with me comments? Let me know what you think.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I have to be completely honest. This is my take
- 8:10Speaker 2: on it. Overwhelmingly excited. If the whole PT six s
- 8:15Speaker 2: crew is down to schaef heads, I mean chef chefs.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Chef's there, he's he was like that when he first
- 8:21Speaker 1: showed up as an intern. He had that thing buzzed down.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, been buzzed for well, actually that was the
- 8:26Speaker 4: first time. Can I'm willing to do it? I don't care.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Can I go half guard up top here and then
- 8:33Speaker 4: a fade on the side.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah? Do we have to go full razors?
- 8:38Speaker 4: Because it would really help with the girlfriend, convincing her
- 8:40Speaker 4: because I told her I was going to grow it
- 8:41Speaker 4: out till the summer.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't see why not. I don't see how.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I mean, it would obviously mean the world to me
- 8:48Speaker 1: if you did what I did. But if you guys
- 8:50Speaker 1: are standing in some type of solidarity with me, I
- 8:53Speaker 1: would love that. What about you, Derek? You you're kind
- 8:56Speaker 1: of new here. You know, you got a nice little
- 8:58Speaker 1: head up top.
- 8:58Speaker 5: I had already told that after October thirteenth, I'll do
- 9:03Speaker 5: whatever you want to my head. That is our engagement
- 9:06Speaker 5: photo day where we are sending out wedding. I think
- 9:09Speaker 5: that's I think that's safe.
- 9:11Speaker 2: That's safe. That's safe. Here's what I say.
- 9:13Speaker 5: October fourteenth, we are going to the Jonas Brothers. I
- 9:16Speaker 5: will gladly walk into the Jonas Brothers with that haircut.
- 9:20Speaker 5: As long as I'm not losing my wonderful fiance, I
- 9:23Speaker 5: have no issue.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Right bro. So when I lost this bet because Charle
- 9:27Speaker 1: was talking to me last week and she was like,
- 9:29Speaker 1: are you actually gonna cut your hair? And I was like,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I mean, sweetheart, if we lose, I have to. But
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, we're not gonna lose this
- 9:36Speaker 1: football game, Taylor's gonna be the one buzzing in his head.
- 9:39Speaker 1: We're not losing. This hair is staying. I know you
- 9:41Speaker 1: love the hair. Gets what the hair is staying. Because
- 9:44Speaker 1: she's like, we got family photos in early October. Oh no,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and I'm sweetheart, don't even worry about we ain't losing.
- 9:50Speaker 1: We lost. She wanted me to back out of the bet.
- 9:52Speaker 1: She wanted me to like, not do it. I'm like, sweetheart,
- 9:55Speaker 1: I can't. I gotta be a man of my word here.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta pay my debts. She really was like,
- 10:00Speaker 1: we got the family photos, the family. I'm like, you know,
- 10:03Speaker 1: it's one set of family photos, family photos by the way,
- 10:05Speaker 1: which you know I didn't like set them up, but
- 10:08Speaker 1: I put it out there like, hey, we should get
- 10:09Speaker 1: some family show on that text. And we got some
- 10:15Speaker 1: family photos dialed in, which I'm excited about. But it's like,
- 10:18Speaker 1: this is the one group of family, this is one
- 10:20Speaker 1: this is one sitting of family photos. And it's able
- 10:23Speaker 1: to look back at this family photo like, Daddy, why
- 10:27Speaker 1: is your head shaved here? Daddy lost the bet.
- 10:30Speaker 2: And your daddy's kind of a fun guy. Isn't a
- 10:32Speaker 2: man of his words.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah true.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Hello Taylor. Oh perfect timing, too perfect, But we're.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I believe that. I believe that was the nineteen ninety
- 10:48Speaker 1: seven Champions or the Michigan Wolverines.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that was. Also, you are on camera right here
- 10:54Speaker 2: in Taylor. Oh you have a producer camera. People see
- 10:58Speaker 2: my hair, Taylor for the first time ever. Round of applause, Tailor.
- 11:02Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I just came in here to took an
- 11:06Speaker 6: afternoon too, and realize that you guys are shooting. Big
- 11:09Speaker 6: fan of the show, big fan of both of you guys.
- 11:12Speaker 6: I think you guys are bringing a unique perspective onto
- 11:14Speaker 6: the dads everywhere. A lot of people want to be like,
- 11:16Speaker 6: this is what I do as a fault because I'm
- 11:17Speaker 6: the best dad ever. No one's the best dat ever.
- 11:20Speaker 6: Got to just flip a coin and hope the god
- 11:21Speaker 6: it works out for your kid.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Luckily, everyone in.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Here, for the most parts worked out. And uh, I
- 11:27Speaker 6: love that you guys use this as therapy session because
- 11:29Speaker 6: we all need it.
- 11:30Speaker 1: So I tuned in.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you. So you have seen the multiple
- 11:35Speaker 2: breakdowns on the multiple episodes, tears pretty much every.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Ye yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong
- 11:45Speaker 6: with tears. I think you need to normalize dudes weeping
- 11:48Speaker 6: on camera.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Normalize it. Oh, we are doing it.
- 11:51Speaker 2: We are doing it it today, not yet. Go ahead,
- 11:55Speaker 2: started up there, but.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You didn't come in in a minute, so who knows.
- 11:59Speaker 2: You came in perfect timing because we were talking about
- 12:02Speaker 2: maybe the whole crew goes in solidarity with Will on
- 12:05Speaker 2: the headship.
- 12:07Speaker 6: Did you take Michigan or Nebraska?
- 12:09Speaker 2: I took Nebraska. He took Nebraska minus thirteen and a
- 12:12Speaker 2: half Nebraska. Yeah, you guys should.
- 12:15Speaker 6: Honestly, if the guys that work at Busting with the
- 12:18Speaker 6: Boys are who they claim to be, everyone who is
- 12:21Speaker 6: with Nebraska should do this in solidarity.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I don't disagree. I think I'm just cleaned it.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I think that's great.
- 12:29Speaker 6: Really turns to do a bunch of skitheads and me
- 12:31Speaker 6: and Coop is what it would be?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Coop and Furda. What's in Ferida?
- 12:37Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 12:38Speaker 2: Shape his head too though. Okay, Actually, now that I
- 12:40Speaker 2: think about Freida did go with Nebraska.
- 12:42Speaker 6: I think he you know, I think he said to
- 12:44Speaker 6: my face and then probably went up to Will and
- 12:45Speaker 6: be like I got that someone.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Don't worry. Don't know because he was like he was
- 12:50Speaker 1: gonna go Michigan. But then he was like, we're on
- 12:52Speaker 1: the same like we GM the fantasy team together.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I got Nebraska.
- 12:55Speaker 1: He's like, I gotta go with my boy, like I
- 12:57Speaker 1: gotta go with my GM. So yeah, we would be
- 13:00Speaker 1: everybody except you and Coop.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yeah, honestly, and we we be the trend setters, well
- 13:06Speaker 2: trend setter, but we joined in.
- 13:09Speaker 6: Right, have a full cool segment before the dad It's
- 13:12Speaker 6: cool Kids Club, all three k's.
- 13:16Speaker 2: You can't do.
- 13:17Speaker 1: That bad idea in a brain, No bad ideas, right,
- 13:20Speaker 1: no bad idea?
- 13:21Speaker 2: Yeah, man, around the wrong show right now? You're no,
- 13:25Speaker 2: I can't joke around. Well we joke.
- 13:27Speaker 3: We joke.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Guys can't joke around. We joke.
- 13:30Speaker 6: Okay, I'll tell you this. It's much more fun being
- 13:32Speaker 6: a guest on the show. Whatever I want, Yeah, you
- 13:36Speaker 6: can gotta say whatever I want. That was it, though,
- 13:41Speaker 6: All right, guys, I'm gonna go, uh finish business.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Do your think you get that afternoon too?
- 13:46Speaker 6: And once again love the show and actually I mean it,
- 13:50Speaker 6: I mean it, thank you. And then before I go,
- 13:52Speaker 6: would you say The nineteen eighty seven National champions were
- 13:55Speaker 6: the Michigan Wolverines, my boy.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Round of applause. Taylorwan taylorwan.
- 14:06Speaker 3: See.
- 14:06Speaker 1: We can get that, we can get the clippers out,
- 14:08Speaker 1: I guess, Derek, we can wait until your engagement photos
- 14:11Speaker 1: are done. That's fair, chef.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'll do it. I'll do it too.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I mean I just buzz oh yeah, a month ago.
- 14:21Speaker 3: So I don't. It's not like I gotta be.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you look good. You look good with the
- 14:25Speaker 2: buzzed head than I. I'm in need of a haircut.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I think that going in solidarity wise with you, it
- 14:34Speaker 2: would feel good. I think if the whole career had it,
- 14:36Speaker 2: we kind of looked tough. We looked tough.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Come on, should we dive into some some engagement shout
- 14:45Speaker 1: out some fans. Yes, dude, I had a really cool
- 14:48Speaker 1: conversation and I am so sorry that I'm not I'm
- 14:53Speaker 1: forgetting his name with this couple I was talking to
- 14:57Speaker 1: when we were doing that CBS show on Saturday morning
- 15:00Speaker 1: overdone the Haymarket area. Oh yeah, he pulls me aside
- 15:03Speaker 1: over by the fence and he's just he's just he's
- 15:06Speaker 1: honestly just talking to me about for the dads and
- 15:09Speaker 1: how much he loves it and his wife was sitting
- 15:11Speaker 1: there and being like, yeah, we tune in every week,
- 15:13Speaker 1: and he's just he doesn't even want to talk Husker football.
- 15:16Speaker 1: He just wants to talk about how much he loved
- 15:18Speaker 1: for the Dads and Papa Team six. And he was
- 15:20Speaker 1: getting to a point I said, buddy, look, it's gonna
- 15:22Speaker 1: be like we're reading these comments or reading these stories,
- 15:24Speaker 1: like you're starting to get water in my eyes by
- 15:25Speaker 1: how much you could tell he was wanting just to
- 15:27Speaker 1: let me know how much he loved the show and
- 15:30Speaker 1: how much it's like influenced them and stuff like that.
- 15:33Speaker 1: But it was, uh yeah, because he was talking about
- 15:36Speaker 1: how he had lost his job and within a couple
- 15:39Speaker 1: of weeks he like he like got a job and
- 15:42Speaker 1: then they were due like two weeks later or something
- 15:46Speaker 1: like that, so he only had like two weeks of
- 15:48Speaker 1: paternity leaving. How hard it was like on them and
- 15:50Speaker 1: everything else because Dad, you know, Dad's like going and
- 15:52Speaker 1: doing this job and kind of sacrificing the you know,
- 15:55Speaker 1: just the stuff that they had to go through, like
- 15:57Speaker 1: while he was doing the whole work thing just to like,
- 15:59Speaker 1: you know, have a career, like have a job for
- 16:01Speaker 1: himself and provide and everything like that, like, hey, he
- 16:03Speaker 1: gets a job and then two weeks later is like, hey,
- 16:06Speaker 1: you know, do I get some some paternity to leave
- 16:08Speaker 1: to where he's not at the job. He felt like
- 16:10Speaker 1: he had to go to said job. That's so hard
- 16:13Speaker 1: and he's giving me a full breakdown, but it was.
- 16:15Speaker 1: It was awesome. We had a few other conversations. BET
- 16:17Speaker 1: six is out there and just want to say thank
- 16:20Speaker 1: you to everybody who engages with us. I feel like
- 16:22Speaker 1: the comments I get about for the dads and pop
- 16:24Speaker 1: a Team six, they they warm the heart the most
- 16:27Speaker 1: they do. But if you want to be featured on
- 16:29Speaker 1: the show we have we do comments. So if you
- 16:32Speaker 1: leave comments on YouTube, ideally within the first forty eight
- 16:36Speaker 1: hours of dropping, that's when the guys kind of go
- 16:37Speaker 1: through the comments and go through everything for the potential
- 16:39Speaker 1: next week's show, because we never know when we're going
- 16:41Speaker 1: to film the next week's episode with everything else going
- 16:44Speaker 1: on in our world. It could be Friday we film it,
- 16:46Speaker 1: could be over the weekend, it could be Monday we
- 16:49Speaker 1: film it. But to be featured on the show, you
- 16:51Speaker 1: can leave comments, whether on social media or on YouTube.
- 16:54Speaker 1: We see a lot of YouTube comments that we kind
- 16:55Speaker 1: of dive into and then also six to oh one
- 16:58Speaker 1: the Dads Are Hotline. You can call and drop a voicemail.
- 17:00Speaker 1: We will play it and you'll be featured on the show.
- 17:03Speaker 1: But this first one comes to us from Andrew Fox
- 17:07Speaker 1: on on YouTube Papa Fox Bet six from Sussex County, Delaware,
- 17:14Speaker 1: checking in. Happy father of two beautiful children two and
- 17:17Speaker 1: a half year old daughter and month old baby boy.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Love the pod, look forward to it every week, shouting
- 17:22Speaker 1: out the whole pod. I'm a teacher in a high
- 17:24Speaker 1: school across coach of ten years. Do you want do
- 17:27Speaker 1: we want merch? You can shoot us some merch. We
- 17:29Speaker 1: would love that. Kids are my life. My students and
- 17:31Speaker 1: my players are my kids basically, so obviously being a
- 17:34Speaker 1: dad is the best thing in the whole world. I
- 17:35Speaker 1: love my children and I love the girl dad culture.
- 17:38Speaker 1: But been taking some hard times with my daughter as
- 17:40Speaker 1: we're transitioning to having another child in house. The tantrums,
- 17:43Speaker 1: the fight back, the regressions have really put me in
- 17:45Speaker 1: a feeling of being a bad dad while also keeping
- 17:48Speaker 1: my emotions in check and showing love to my newborn son.
- 17:51Speaker 1: The question is, Will, how did you how did you?
- 17:56Speaker 1: How did you doing that how did you doing that
- 17:59Speaker 1: when you had How did you do that when you
- 18:01Speaker 1: had scott Dilla? How is ru? I think that's how
- 18:03Speaker 1: you spelled it, my math, teach your brain. What were
- 18:06Speaker 1: some of the things that seem to work or didn't work. Finally,
- 18:09Speaker 1: while I've been going through this, the pod has helped
- 18:11Speaker 1: reminding me that this too will pass and then everything
- 18:14Speaker 1: will be better. Thank you, Andrew appreciate the question, my friend.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I would say, we worked for us, and I've I've
- 18:20Speaker 1: kind of given a couple of these dad hacks in
- 18:22Speaker 1: the past episodes. But one thing that we did coming
- 18:25Speaker 1: out of the hospital is introducing Rue to Scottie while
- 18:30Speaker 1: Scotty wasn't in Mom's arms, because you know, I was
- 18:33Speaker 1: seeing honestly, I was just seeing this stuff on Instagram
- 18:37Speaker 1: that when your kid is like walking in to check
- 18:40Speaker 1: on mom and they see the newborn in mom's hands,
- 18:42Speaker 1: it's like you the first one you are. You are
- 18:45Speaker 1: their world, they are your world, and they see you
- 18:48Speaker 1: holding a different world and you're introducing them. So one
- 18:50Speaker 1: thing we did do was have somebody else holding Scottie
- 18:54Speaker 1: when Rue came in to check on mom and see
- 18:56Speaker 1: Mom and everything else. Obviously, that's already, that's that's pastor you,
- 19:00Speaker 1: but a couple good pieces of it, your dad hacks tips,
- 19:05Speaker 1: whatever you want to call them. Is we would get Rue.
- 19:09Speaker 1: We got Rue a gift from Scotty and it was
- 19:12Speaker 1: like Rue at the time loved Frozen, still loves Frozen,
- 19:15Speaker 1: but loved Frozen love on and Elsa. So we gifted
- 19:18Speaker 1: her like this like elsa necklace or this like little
- 19:21Speaker 1: jewelry set or whatever from Scotty to Rue when we
- 19:25Speaker 1: brought Scotty home, like Scotty, has you a gift waiting
- 19:27Speaker 1: at home? Another dad hack, I would tell you is
- 19:31Speaker 1: something that we tried intentionally and consciously doing because it's
- 19:33Speaker 1: very hard when you got two kiddos and your older one,
- 19:36Speaker 1: your first one. They want a player. They want to
- 19:38Speaker 1: do stuff that do this, or put me down first,
- 19:41Speaker 1: or Dad, I want you to hold me. I don't
- 19:43Speaker 1: want you to hold Scotty. Is instead of telling Rue Rue,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I'm holding Scotty right now, I can't do it, or Rue,
- 19:50Speaker 1: I can't do this because I'm doing X, Y and
- 19:52Speaker 1: Z with Scottie. I still do that from time to time,
- 19:55Speaker 1: but I got to catch myself saying it, and I
- 19:57Speaker 1: just instead I'll tell Rue, okay, it can do that,
- 20:00Speaker 1: and then I will look at Scotty and say, Scotty,
- 20:02Speaker 1: whenever I'm done holding you, I got to pick up
- 20:04Speaker 1: your sister, Rue, because the little one, they have no
- 20:06Speaker 1: clue what's going on. Yeah, but almost you know, if
- 20:08Speaker 1: you're older one, your first one is telling you something
- 20:11Speaker 1: and say you can do but you just can't at
- 20:13Speaker 1: the moment, or you will later, but you can at
- 20:15Speaker 1: the moment instead of like telling them I can't do X,
- 20:17Speaker 1: Y and Z because my responsibility is with your younger
- 20:20Speaker 1: sister right now. You need to understand that my hands
- 20:22Speaker 1: are full and Dad's trying, but I got to tend
- 20:24Speaker 1: to your younger sister right now. It would be more
- 20:26Speaker 1: so I tell her, yes, I nod my head, we'll
- 20:29Speaker 1: be able to do this. Hang on, let me just
- 20:31Speaker 1: tell Scotty something really quick. So then I'll tell Scotty
- 20:33Speaker 1: whatever I got to do with her and say, but
- 20:35Speaker 1: when I'm done, I have to play with your sister.
- 20:37Speaker 1: So that way Ru is hearing me say that, then
- 20:40Speaker 1: it allows me to then look at Rue say do
- 20:43Speaker 1: you hear what I told Scotty? I just said, you know,
- 20:45Speaker 1: let me let me change your diaper. Let me get
- 20:47Speaker 1: you into your outfit. But the moment I'm done, I'm
- 20:49Speaker 1: gonna play. I'm gonna play with Rue and then I'll
- 20:50Speaker 1: look at real. But I just give that these couple
- 20:52Speaker 1: of minutes, I'll knock it out quick and then we'll
- 20:54Speaker 1: start playing. So those are like a couple of little
- 20:56Speaker 1: hacks and a couple of little tips. That's the only
- 20:58Speaker 1: experience I have. Ruth does get jealous and stuff at
- 21:01Speaker 1: times with Scottie, but she Ru's honestly, she's been a
- 21:05Speaker 1: pretty good big sister for the most part, and I
- 21:07Speaker 1: do feel a lot of it has to do with
- 21:09Speaker 1: like making them feel included in the conversation of whatever
- 21:14Speaker 1: you're doing responsibility wise. With the younger one, he's just
- 21:17Speaker 1: more so look at them, say everything you're going to
- 21:19Speaker 1: do to them, while the while the older one hears
- 21:21Speaker 1: you that way, they feel part of this solution of
- 21:24Speaker 1: the problem solving that's taking place. So that's what i'd say.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Those have been two of my favorite dad hacks that
- 21:31Speaker 2: you've actually shared on this show. And it was Stephen
- 21:34Speaker 2: Shade that gave you the Stephen Jay, Yeah, shout out
- 21:37Speaker 2: Stephen Chay. He gave me the gift idea when you
- 21:40Speaker 2: were bringing the newborn home, tell the older one.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Genius, Yeah, hey, Scotty, got you a gift. When we
- 21:45Speaker 1: get home.
- 21:46Speaker 2: She's so excited to be your sister.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Yeah, she's so excited to be your sister, and just
- 21:50Speaker 1: kind of sets it up for success. Oh. But it's
- 21:52Speaker 1: like it's just like little things like that, because it
- 21:55Speaker 1: does happen. It does get hard. You're juggling a lot
- 21:57Speaker 1: of things when you have multiple kids, and you get
- 22:00Speaker 1: caught up, you know, being a little too impatient or
- 22:03Speaker 1: maybe you're a little run down from the day and
- 22:05Speaker 1: you know, wearing all the different hats being a husband,
- 22:08Speaker 1: being you know, employee, being dad, being dad to one,
- 22:12Speaker 1: being dad to two, and you kind of like, you know,
- 22:15Speaker 1: you get a little frazzled. But that's like a it's
- 22:18Speaker 1: like a It's like one thing I will allude to
- 22:20Speaker 1: in my brain is okay, if I check the way
- 22:22Speaker 1: I'm talking or rue doesn't feel important right now. I
- 22:25Speaker 1: try to think of what I've just been doing, and
- 22:27Speaker 1: I gotta switch it around. I need to talk to Scotty,
- 22:29Speaker 1: say hey, Scotty, whenever I get downe putting you in
- 22:31Speaker 1: your credit or give you your bottle. I have to go
- 22:33Speaker 1: play with I have to go play with Rue. It's
- 22:35Speaker 1: Rue's time. And you know you're sitting there talking a
- 22:36Speaker 1: little one there. They have no clue what's being said,
- 22:39Speaker 1: but Ru's fired up because you know you're talking about
- 22:41Speaker 1: her and letting them know at the same time how
- 22:43Speaker 1: important they are in front of a little sister.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I love that. I next one that I have is
- 22:51Speaker 2: off of TikTok, which we haven't done. A ton of
- 22:54Speaker 2: comments off TikTok. I saw Derek pulled a bunch of
- 22:56Speaker 2: TikTok comments, which gets me stoked. This is where I'm
- 22:59Speaker 2: twenty stew underscore, he says. Fellas dad to dad to
- 23:07Speaker 2: a rambunctious eleven month old boy who is hates sitting
- 23:11Speaker 2: still even when getting his diaper change. Full of shit good. Also,
- 23:17Speaker 2: longtime PT sixer, my son has recently been deployed to
- 23:22Speaker 2: every nook and cranny in our house since he is
- 23:25Speaker 2: crawling now. Anyways, have the best dad moment the other
- 23:29Speaker 2: day as I walked in the door, he crawled to
- 23:31Speaker 2: me with the biggest smile. Also, he caught him bobbing
- 23:35Speaker 2: his head to Rocky Top, which made me a static gbo,
- 23:40Speaker 2: come on, shit h thoroughly enjoy all the pods fellas
- 23:45Speaker 2: great advice for future dads, new dads or all dads
- 23:50Speaker 2: love that which I also have a similar story a gbobo.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I have a similar story with Scarlet. That's one of
- 23:58Speaker 2: my krack of cole ones not crawling but smiling.
- 24:01Speaker 1: All right, thank you for the comment on TikTok Yes,
- 24:04Speaker 1: thank love that TikTok comments.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Let's go twenty six alos on TikTok Uh.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Brandon Brandon zero nine fifty ripped a fart in my
- 24:15Speaker 1: son's room. After asking did you hear that frog? He laughed.
- 24:18Speaker 1: My three year old thinks farts are funny. Good love
- 24:21Speaker 1: the love the podfellows, keep killing it. Then some more
- 24:24Speaker 1: PT six some some engagement here. Nick beck With responds
- 24:27Speaker 1: to him. My dad used to call him California Barking
- 24:30Speaker 1: Spiders legend. Love seeing the community, love the community talking
- 24:34Speaker 1: back and forth with each other, just all dad's trying
- 24:37Speaker 1: to help each other out.
- 24:38Speaker 2: My dad was a big barking spider guy. He loved
- 24:41Speaker 2: that joke, and I never fully got the joke because
- 24:43Speaker 2: I was like, I don't know if spider's bark, Like,
- 24:46Speaker 2: what's my dad talking about chef shake his head to
- 24:49Speaker 2: you like I don't I don't.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Know you know.
- 24:53Speaker 2: This one comes from Brett Dureau Underscore also on TikTok.
- 24:58Speaker 2: How's it going, guys? My my name is Sergeant Brett
- 25:01Speaker 2: Dureau and I am currently deployed to the Middle East.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Thank you for your service, Brett. However, my wife is
- 25:06Speaker 2: back home and is due in October with our first baby,
- 25:10Speaker 2: a baby girl. I'm super excited and nervous about this,
- 25:14Speaker 2: so I was just wondering what tips you have for
- 25:17Speaker 2: a girl dad who hasn't been there through all the
- 25:20Speaker 2: appointments due to military service. Also, I plan on surprising
- 25:25Speaker 2: her by coming back before our baby is born. What
- 25:28Speaker 2: should I do for my wife to help make up
- 25:32Speaker 2: for the lost time. You guys are a huge inspiration
- 25:35Speaker 2: to me about to become a girl dad, and I
- 25:37Speaker 2: can't wait to make my own memories with my daughter.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Any tips you could give me would help out a lot.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Thank you guys for being awesome motherfuckers and awesome girl dads.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Hopefully me being from Iowa doesn't rub you the wrong way,
- 25:51Speaker 2: will Winkie face? Anyways, Love you boys, God bless That
- 25:55Speaker 2: comes from Brett Dureau, Brett Dureau.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Thank you, bro thank you for tapping in, Thank you
- 25:59Speaker 1: for leaving a comment. Saran, what do you got, broh advice?
- 26:06Speaker 1: I know you got a couple of things advice wise.
- 26:08Speaker 2: As far as like making up that time, I feel
- 26:11Speaker 2: like it's so different, uh in Brett's case because he's
- 26:14Speaker 2: literally serving our country. But I know what he means about,
- 26:19Speaker 2: like the a the guilt from absence.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and although I did not experience that with my wife,
- 26:28Speaker 1: I felt like the communication, even if I wasn't able
- 26:31Speaker 1: to make a baby appointment, the communication before the appointment
- 26:36Speaker 1: and after the appointment meant the world to her of
- 26:39Speaker 1: even the most minutes stuff.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Her head has grown eight millimeters. Sureman, Oh my gosh,
- 26:45Speaker 2: that's that's incredible, because we were worried about the size
- 26:48Speaker 2: of her head, Jill, you know, but like being plugged
- 26:51Speaker 2: into those conversations. But I think the best gift that
- 26:54Speaker 2: he's gonna give them is like him coming home and
- 26:57Speaker 2: surprising them, like those you want to talk about crying
- 27:00Speaker 2: on camera. Yeah, yeah, I'll pull those up on YouTube.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Just a soldier coming home, a mom or a dad
- 27:07Speaker 2: and oh dude, I'm dead me at the time.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you. It always comes back to the
- 27:15Speaker 1: communication and just the presence, and then if you can't
- 27:18Speaker 1: have the presence, just them knowing that you care to
- 27:23Speaker 1: ask about what's going on, because you got to think
- 27:25Speaker 1: too as a mom going into these appointments and let's
- 27:28Speaker 1: just say it's alone. Like there are things that they're
- 27:30Speaker 1: nervous about, there's things that they're learning, and whenever they
- 27:33Speaker 1: come out of it and talk to you, they want
- 27:35Speaker 1: to know that you're there and you see them and
- 27:38Speaker 1: that you you are in it with them, even though
- 27:41Speaker 1: you might not actually be with them. So whether it's
- 27:44Speaker 1: fears or insecurities or learning something new, it's that same
- 27:48Speaker 1: excitement to where you're curious about it and what you got,
- 27:53Speaker 1: what you got in that.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Way, I was worried about the bottom of my water,
- 27:57Speaker 2: but I think it is just some liquid IV.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah, nice nice blood, Thank you, thank you. But yeah,
- 28:04Speaker 1: just knowing that you that you're that you're in it
- 28:06Speaker 1: with them as much as you can possibly be, because
- 28:09Speaker 1: she gets it and I'm sure she asks you how's
- 28:10Speaker 1: everything going? Uh there, whether you can share with her
- 28:14Speaker 1: or not, but it's just flipping the table and asking her, Hey,
- 28:16Speaker 1: how's your day? How are you feeling going into it?
- 28:18Speaker 1: Are you feeling excited? They want to know that you're
- 28:20Speaker 1: excited all of those different things. That's what it it.
- 28:24Speaker 1: That's what it always comes down to. Because for me,
- 28:26Speaker 1: if like my wife checks me a lot of times,
- 28:28Speaker 1: it's like, I just want to know that you're excited
- 28:31Speaker 1: or that you're feeling some of the same same things
- 28:34Speaker 1: I'm feeling, versus like staying you know, reserved or unemotional.
- 28:39Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I know exactly what you mean.
- 28:41Speaker 3: And uh.
- 28:43Speaker 2: The other question that he had asked was like, what
- 28:45Speaker 2: advice do you have as a couple of girl dads
- 28:47Speaker 2: for me? I think the only thing that I would say, uh,
- 28:52Speaker 2: instead of some advice is just like to get Brett excited?
- 28:56Speaker 2: Is I feel like dad's the opportunity is so great
- 29:00Speaker 2: rate with being a girl dad, like the opportunity to
- 29:02Speaker 2: be a good father to your daughter. But that cheat
- 29:07Speaker 2: code of like the relationship of a daughter and her
- 29:10Speaker 2: dad is like I'm starting to see it with Scarlet
- 29:14Speaker 2: of just like the way that she looks at me
- 29:16Speaker 2: and the way she interacts with me and stuff, and
- 29:18Speaker 2: like it's just so much fun. It really is. And Brent,
- 29:23Speaker 2: You're in for an absolute treat. I know, I'm only
- 29:28Speaker 2: barely eleven weeks into, you know, this whole process, but
- 29:32Speaker 2: it's like, it's such a cool thing. It's such a
- 29:35Speaker 2: beautiful thing. I don't know how to describe it. Even
- 29:38Speaker 2: you're a barber. What was his name, Allan Matt Allen? Today?
- 29:44Speaker 1: Can hey, can can you turn that on? Can people
- 29:46Speaker 1: hear the lawnmowing going on outside? I will get that
- 29:51Speaker 1: out of the okay, okay, because that just got super loud. Yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 1: Alan's a stud, bro.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Allan's a stud. And congratulations to Alan. They have a
- 30:02Speaker 2: baby girl on the way in October. And it was
- 30:05Speaker 2: fun just him saying like, hey, I have a baby boy,
- 30:09Speaker 2: but we actually have a baby on the way. It's
- 30:11Speaker 2: a girl. And like just the look that he kind
- 30:14Speaker 2: of gave me and like dap me up. It's like,
- 30:16Speaker 2: I don't know, there's just something cool about being a
- 30:18Speaker 2: girl dad.
- 30:19Speaker 1: So yeah, awesome responsibility, like the new love that you have,
- 30:23Speaker 1: like you are your daughter's first love. Go back to
- 30:26Speaker 1: episode one and listen to the end of the episode
- 30:29Speaker 1: because I kind of do a little written thing on
- 30:31Speaker 1: being a girl dad and what it means and I
- 30:34Speaker 1: absolutely love it. And then what you'll do is you
- 30:35Speaker 1: might not have the capacity yet, but one day you
- 30:37Speaker 1: will when your little girl comes. But I would say,
- 30:40Speaker 1: when you're wanting advice on, you know, your wife, whether
- 30:44Speaker 1: you're away or she's alone, it's almost like, how would
- 30:48Speaker 1: you want how would you want your daughter to be
- 30:53Speaker 1: treated if she was with somebody who was either overseas
- 30:56Speaker 1: in the military or is absent. Like again, sometimes is
- 31:00Speaker 1: that's just the that's the that's the hand you that's
- 31:03Speaker 1: the hand you're dealt with. Yeah, that's the that's the
- 31:05Speaker 1: life that is chosen on on being married to somebody
- 31:08Speaker 1: who's at who who with their job and career, is
- 31:11Speaker 1: absent a lot of the time. Like you as a girl, dad,
- 31:15Speaker 1: how would you want that man to treat your daughter
- 31:17Speaker 1: if he was away? And you will find a lot
- 31:20Speaker 1: of those answers that way as well, and then you'll
- 31:23Speaker 1: kind of know, you know, things to ask, things to
- 31:25Speaker 1: feel excited about with your wife, because I feel like
- 31:27Speaker 1: that gives you a nice little guiding light when you
- 31:30Speaker 1: do finally have your baby girl.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I love that answer. That's a good answer.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I've been joking around in the office sometimes with some
- 31:38Speaker 1: of the single guys when they're telling stories of like
- 31:42Speaker 1: you know, dating and text that they're sending back and forth.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Then I'll especially for.
- 31:47Speaker 3: That, that's what you're talking about.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll go, Hey, that's scarlet you're texting. Keep that
- 31:53Speaker 2: in mind. You're so right. Hey, you're so right, dude,
- 31:58Speaker 2: So right.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a that's a that's a Seman Team six
- 32:02Speaker 1: member right there.
- 32:03Speaker 2: He's a he's right there with chef. Yeah, second in command,
- 32:06Speaker 2: would you say chef? At least.
- 32:10Speaker 4: He might be what was the military branch where it's
- 32:13Speaker 4: like the the goom berets. Yeah, but like I'm talking
- 32:17Speaker 4: about the actual like the Delta Squad guys who are
- 32:19Speaker 4: just like they're like black ops.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah yeah, Furdo might be a goo beret.
- 32:25Speaker 1: He might be a goom Beret that's on Semen Team six.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah. And for people if you're new tuning in the
- 32:33Speaker 1: tiers we have, you're Papa Team six. Those are the fathers. Yep.
- 32:37Speaker 1: You might be on Seman Team six currently where you're
- 32:40Speaker 1: not a dead yet but you're shooting. You're dropping in
- 32:42Speaker 1: Seeman Team six to do you know some night operations.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we also call that buds training breeding until
- 32:50Speaker 1: dad status and that's for you.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Uh uh, pre PT sixers, pre PT sixers, you're trying
- 32:57Speaker 2: to actually becoming PT six members.
- 33:00Speaker 1: That means you're in bud straining.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Yep.
- 33:02Speaker 7: Uh.
- 33:02Speaker 1: You could be a seeming Team sixer where you're just
- 33:04Speaker 1: you're playing for the love of the game.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Milk Team six, Milk Team six. That's the female audience
- 33:09Speaker 2: right now, Team six, Team six. Yeah, Dad DG six,

- 34:17Speaker 1: YouTube and force feed it to my wife respectfully because
- 34:21Speaker 1: she needs to hear it. Thanks again for the great

- 34:34Speaker 1: Sure the six er dish or the six or congratulations man, Congrats,
- 34:38Speaker 1: congratulations on the new baby girl.
- 34:40Speaker 2: I got Matt some ten twenty five on YouTube. Pt
- 34:45Speaker 2: sikes brutal start to the week. My dog got six
- 34:48Speaker 2: Saturday night, Sunday morning. Take them to the vet. Find
- 34:51Speaker 2: out it's pretty much nothing they can do, so we
- 34:55Speaker 2: have to put them down. Dang dude, I hate that.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I have a six year old and a four year old.
- 35:01Speaker 2: My six year old was devastated. The four year old
- 35:04Speaker 2: doesn't quite understand yet. Took us a couple of days
- 35:07Speaker 2: because it was definitely unexpected. Was for sure looking forward
- 35:12Speaker 2: to the pod this week. Dang dude, that stinks.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I was lucky enough that I was like high school
- 35:19Speaker 2: age when we had family pets. But the way it's
- 35:23Speaker 2: lining up with Scarlet, Wrigley and Goose are they're a
- 35:27Speaker 2: bit older. They're like seven, and I'm like, oh man,
- 35:30Speaker 2: she's gonna be like five or six.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to say Waffles like five or six
- 35:37Speaker 1: years old. Yeah. So I'm sure that'll be a.
- 35:42Speaker 2: That'll be a moment's a that's a hard one, but
- 35:45Speaker 2: I think it can be I think that it can
- 35:50Speaker 2: be dealt with, like in a really cool way. How
- 35:54Speaker 2: you treat it of like, you know, talking through if
- 35:57Speaker 2: they're old enough, like talking through what has had happened.
- 36:01Speaker 2: You know, dogs they don't live as long and here's
- 36:03Speaker 2: why and dah dah da. But you know the great
- 36:06Speaker 2: thing is we can get a new dog or we
- 36:09Speaker 2: can get it's.
- 36:12Speaker 1: The new dog. Bro. I remember when I I was
- 36:15Speaker 1: like the same age as so my parents. They did
- 36:19Speaker 1: the whole get a pet first before having a kid,
- 36:22Speaker 1: for the whole responsibility factor. So Conan he was a
- 36:25Speaker 1: Rottweiler studer too. I look like a guy who owns
- 36:30Speaker 1: a couple of yeah, a couple of me. They are
- 36:34Speaker 1: good dogs. Owner.
- 36:37Speaker 2: It's about the owner. Ain't the dog.
- 36:40Speaker 1: It ain't the dog. He ain't the marie.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Aren't they like the number one attack on because they, hey,
- 36:47Speaker 2: the owner, they paint.
- 36:48Speaker 1: In the wrong line. So I was like the same.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I was like a year behind Conan, and I was
- 36:58Speaker 1: like somebody who you know, I like got into the
- 37:00Speaker 1: dog bowl. I hate the dog food. My parents had
- 37:03Speaker 1: to like. I hate the dough.
- 37:05Speaker 2: That's where Scotty got bro.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Scott ll Man, she's just like her daddy. She's just
- 37:10Speaker 1: like her daddy being there at the bowl eating the
- 37:13Speaker 1: dog food. They'd have to like set me on the
- 37:14Speaker 1: outside of the outside of the gate and stuff, and
- 37:17Speaker 1: I'd be crying trying to hang with Conne. I was
- 37:19Speaker 1: the only one because Cone he was, you know, little
- 37:21Speaker 1: guard dog. Now I growl and you get close to
- 37:23Speaker 1: the bowl, but I could just crawl up there and
- 37:25Speaker 1: just eat with me.
- 37:26Speaker 2: He would let you.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I would go and flip the or change the
- 37:30Speaker 1: change the channel on the TV, back when you had
- 37:32Speaker 1: to go do it on the TV, and my dad
- 37:33Speaker 1: would get all piste off and want to tan my ass.
- 37:35Speaker 1: And and he saw it to me one time I
- 37:38Speaker 1: did it again. He started to approach me, and then
- 37:40Speaker 1: Cone and got in the middle of my dad. And
- 37:42Speaker 1: now Cephone was growling at my dad. Yeah, just knowing
- 37:45Speaker 1: that I was, you know, I was about to get
- 37:46Speaker 1: a little licking. Uh huh. So I was close with Conan,
- 37:50Speaker 1: and so Cone and Rob Rolers lived around like ten
- 37:53Speaker 1: years old. And so we lost connine when I was ten,
- 37:56Speaker 1: and my you know, my dad, he was everybody was
- 37:59Speaker 1: grieving about it more the loss of Conan, and my
- 38:02Speaker 1: parents handled it well. I was very sad, but again,
- 38:05Speaker 1: you get a new dog, it's like new life. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 1: kind of passed the time, but it was it was
- 38:10Speaker 1: tough when we lost Cone. Conan was a good boy.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Cone was a good boy.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Pets. Pets are so awesome.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Pets are awesome. Gosh, and me, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Dogs are so awesome. Man, I just want to shout
- 38:29Speaker 2: out this is this is such a random story, but
- 38:32Speaker 2: my mom just got a dog. His name is Bama. Sorry, chef, Uh.
- 38:39Speaker 1: That was fuck that dog kid Cho Kid Show kit.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Cho Kids Show. But just hearing like the cheer my
- 38:47Speaker 2: mom's voice of her just calling me and tell me like, oh,
- 38:53Speaker 2: you know, Bama was barking loud when like the mailman
- 38:56Speaker 2: came up to the door and the mail man made
- 38:59Speaker 2: a joke of like, oh, your new dog's a good
- 39:01Speaker 2: guard dog, and you know it helps me like feel
- 39:03Speaker 2: safe at night. And I just love stuff like that. Dude,
- 39:07Speaker 2: dogs are just the best.
- 39:08Speaker 1: They really are. They really are.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I got I got a comment here, Okay, I got
- 39:13Speaker 2: a couple more. Oh sorry, I just went you go.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Uh lukuigi l U l u k u. I g
- 39:22Speaker 1: I on YouTube PT sixer of three under five. Here
- 39:27Speaker 1: mam is letting dad have the weekend, gonna try and
- 39:29Speaker 1: catch the Friday Live show. Already signed up for the tailgate.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I told her she's on Milk Team six, which I
- 39:35Speaker 1: had to explain to her. Cheers to another, Uh, cheers
- 39:38Speaker 1: to another will Day, Best Day of the Week, fantastic
- 39:41Speaker 1: interview on House Rules as well go big rad dude,
- 39:43Speaker 1: shout out. Shout out Lukuigi, shout out Big Red.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Hey GBR, shout out Laguigi. And when is Will Compton Day?
- 39:51Speaker 2: It's around this time of.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Year, right, September nineteenth, that's my birthday.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I am so sorry.
- 39:58Speaker 1: What do you think I did?
- 39:59Speaker 2: I was thinking of like the Will Compton Museum and
- 40:01Speaker 2: all that stuff. That's also September nineteenth. That's the Will
- 40:05Speaker 2: Compton Day.
- 40:07Speaker 1: I guess, oh you're talking about with barstools. Yeah, like
- 40:09Speaker 1: the museum. Yeah, is that maybe?
- 40:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I need to look that up. I still have that,
- 40:15Speaker 2: sure you look that up. I need to look that up.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Will Compton Day. We need we need to keep celebrating.
- 40:21Speaker 2: We do need to.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Keep celebrating that. Big opportunities of celebrating Will Compton Day.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Okay, good, except for the internet. We missed it.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Missed it.
- 40:32Speaker 2: That's what I gotta throw love to my guy anyway
- 40:34Speaker 2: I can.
- 40:35Speaker 1: That would have been fun to just that. It would
- 40:38Speaker 1: have been fun to celebrate that. Dang it. Just bring
- 40:40Speaker 1: it back to the you know.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I got for other reasons outside celebrating myself. Of course,
- 40:46Speaker 2: I got Nick Sexton. This one's from TikTok. What's going on? Boys?
- 40:51Speaker 2: I really enjoy your show and the way you share
- 40:54Speaker 2: your experiences so openly. I'm reaching out because I'd love
- 40:57Speaker 2: to hear your advice on something personal. My partner and
- 41:00Speaker 2: I are expecting our first baby, and I was wondering
- 41:04Speaker 2: how you both felt when your first child was on
- 41:06Speaker 2: the way. Uh, were there things that surprised you or
- 41:10Speaker 2: advice that you wish you had received at the time.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I think it would really help to hear your perspective
- 41:15Speaker 2: as I get ready for this big change in my
- 41:18Speaker 2: own life. Thanks for taking the time to read this
- 41:21Speaker 2: and keep up the amazing work with the podcast. Now
- 41:25Speaker 2: you're Nick Sexton, Nick Sexon, thank you, brother.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I would say you're the closest removed from firstborn. Yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 1: do you have things that jump out at you that
- 41:39Speaker 1: you wish you had advice on? Because Scarlett is what ten.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Weeks ten weeks agoing really eleven? We'll call it eleven, Okay.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:51Speaker 2: The piece of advice that I would say is that
- 41:54Speaker 2: any little thing I know for any listener that's listened
- 41:57Speaker 2: to every episode. I am sorry if I sound like
- 41:59Speaker 2: a broken record, but I do think This is if
- 42:02Speaker 2: I had a book or like a quote that you
- 42:04Speaker 2: could quote me on for being a good dad in
- 42:07Speaker 2: those first couple of months. All the little things are
- 42:10Speaker 2: big things. So if you remember to wash that bottle
- 42:14Speaker 2: after you fed, wife will notice that, and wife will
- 42:18Speaker 2: appreciate it. If you remember to put the you know
- 42:24Speaker 2: you went into the baby's room, because now you have
- 42:26Speaker 2: a whole nother load of laundry. You gotta do that.
- 42:28Speaker 2: You weren't used to go in there and get the
- 42:31Speaker 2: kid's laundry without you know, even telling the wife and
- 42:33Speaker 2: go run that laundry. And when she opens up the
- 42:36Speaker 2: dryer later that day and sees that the kid's clothes
- 42:39Speaker 2: already been you know, washed and dried, she is going
- 42:42Speaker 2: to be stoked. Like and I'm giving myself that advice.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I fall short in that area all the time. But
- 42:48Speaker 2: as far as like how do I want to absolutely
- 42:52Speaker 2: kick ass as a dad, it's like all those little
- 42:55Speaker 2: things that, uh, I'll do that later, Oh you know,
- 43:00Speaker 2: do it right then and there, and do it for
- 43:02Speaker 2: both the kid, your wife, but for yourself too. It's
- 43:05Speaker 2: gonna make you feel like a part of everything because
- 43:10Speaker 2: it's so mom when she's pregnant, like it's it's really
- 43:14Speaker 2: just mom and like taking care of mom and how
- 43:16Speaker 2: can I help mom? And then once baby's there, it's like, okay,
- 43:20Speaker 2: you're up, dad, Like what do you got? And if
- 43:23Speaker 2: you step to the plate and you're doing all those
- 43:25Speaker 2: little things, your mother in law, dad in law, everybody's
- 43:29Speaker 2: gonna be going. He's doing a good job, he's kicking ass.
- 43:32Speaker 2: That would be my advice.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Dude Well said thank you. I don't think anything needs
- 43:37Speaker 1: to be atted toe that, but very well said thank you,
- 43:39Speaker 1: because you're right, it is. It's all mom. And then
- 43:42Speaker 1: like as dads, I would assume it's just like being
- 43:47Speaker 1: being a guy, like being a male. It's uh, you know,
- 43:51Speaker 1: you think to yourself if you had like I had
- 43:53Speaker 1: an awesome mom growing up. So mom did did a
- 43:57Speaker 1: lot of stuff for me. Like my dad. He was
- 43:59Speaker 1: the one who went to work, commuted an hour, you know,
- 44:03Speaker 1: an hour and working back to each day, kind of
- 44:06Speaker 1: like the working dad. He worked a lot, he had
- 44:08Speaker 1: to work a lot, and so my mom did everything
- 44:11Speaker 1: around the house. So growing up and it's three boys,
- 44:15Speaker 1: no female energy, you just think mom takes care of everything,
- 44:19Speaker 1: like mom always has all the answers. So when I'm
- 44:22Speaker 1: be like when I'm a husband and my wife is
- 44:24Speaker 1: pregnant everything else, Like there are times where you just think, oh,
- 44:27Speaker 1: you know, Charles got this, Like moms just know how
- 44:29Speaker 1: to do this stuff. And the truth is they don't either,
- 44:32Speaker 1: Like they just you know, they have to figure it
- 44:34Speaker 1: out and you don't want them to feel alone in
- 44:36Speaker 1: the process. That's the entire game. It's like, that's the
- 44:40Speaker 1: entire game. Is like asking those extra questions so that
- 44:42Speaker 1: way you're prepared, not being told what to do afterwards.
- 44:45Speaker 1: There's a few times when Charle would have to tell
- 44:47Speaker 1: me afterwards and it's like, man, why is she on
- 44:49Speaker 1: my ass about stuff? Like I'm trying where it's like
- 44:51Speaker 1: I need to seek out this type of preparation before
- 44:53Speaker 1: I even get in these situations. Yes, where it's like
- 44:56Speaker 1: if I am doing the laundry, do I need to
- 44:58Speaker 1: dry every article of c or some do I need
- 45:01Speaker 1: to be hang drying them? You know mom can get
- 45:03Speaker 1: a little chippy, mom can get going, or the women
- 45:05Speaker 1: can get going. Hey, you're not You're supposed to hang
- 45:07Speaker 1: dry this one, or like cleaning the bottle. It's like
- 45:10Speaker 1: I would do the just the short cut of times
- 45:12Speaker 1: where I'll just put the hot water in and put
- 45:14Speaker 1: the soap in and I just shake it up. I'll
- 45:16Speaker 1: just shake it up on there. Hey, sweetheart, Sometimes you
- 45:19Speaker 1: do gotta get you gotta twist the top off. You
- 45:21Speaker 1: got to pull the rubber part out of the classic
- 45:23Speaker 1: can clean the insides because if not, there'll be some
- 45:26Speaker 1: there be some residue inside there. And I'm just like, yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 1: she's right. I'm literally just taking the shortcut here. But
- 45:32Speaker 1: I need to. I need to be the guy that
- 45:33Speaker 1: like cleans out the bottle so that way it's just
- 45:35Speaker 1: sitting there and then she sees it so they know
- 45:37Speaker 1: that the effort is being put forth. But that was
- 45:40Speaker 1: well said man.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Also chicoed and wives, plug your ears if you if
- 45:44Speaker 2: you take the nipple out. I've gotten it down to
- 45:47Speaker 2: where I can one hand it, where I take the
- 45:49Speaker 2: nipple out of the top and both pieces stay in
- 45:51Speaker 2: my hand and give a little you know, underneath the
- 45:54Speaker 2: water put on the dry which little that act. Jill
- 45:58Speaker 2: would be pissed if she heard that. All in here
- 46:02Speaker 2: your bucks. I used the brush. I use the brush
- 46:04Speaker 2: every time, honey.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, Charlie, listen to this, like you
- 46:08Speaker 1: never do the do the nipple. She's not wrong, Like
- 46:11Speaker 1: it's been just a handful of times where I thought
- 46:13Speaker 1: to do it. Yeah, I'll be in there trying to
- 46:15Speaker 1: shake an eye. So you're coming around the corner and
- 46:17Speaker 1: then I kind of twisted off.
- 46:19Speaker 2: This brush is awesome that you got it. Brush is incredible.
- 46:22Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 46:23Speaker 1: But she ain't cover on the corner. She'll be all right.
- 46:26Speaker 1: I would still drink it.
- 46:27Speaker 2: I legitimately love using this brush. Like this is crazy love.
- 46:32Speaker 2: I will say, not a dad win, but like those
- 46:36Speaker 2: moments of when you're able, when you're doing all those
- 46:39Speaker 2: small things and you are operating independently of your wife
- 46:43Speaker 2: on uh prep preparing for the baby to go to
- 46:48Speaker 2: outside time, getting the diaper bag ready, washing bottles, making bottles,
- 46:53Speaker 2: You'll get into a rhythm where like you're like, dude,
- 46:56Speaker 2: I do have this to where Jill and I wanted
- 46:58Speaker 2: to do a birthday dinner just her and I on Thursday,
- 47:02Speaker 2: and the way it worked out, she was like, I
- 47:04Speaker 2: have to go get my nails done and then go
- 47:06Speaker 2: straight from there to the restaurant. I don't know, Like,
- 47:10Speaker 2: can you take Scarlet and meet me at the restaurant?
- 47:13Speaker 2: I don't want to do that to you. Do you
- 47:14Speaker 2: feel comfortable to do that? I was like, I got it,
- 47:17Speaker 2: I got it. I know everything that needs to go
- 47:19Speaker 2: in the diaper bag. I'll have the douna I'll do.
- 47:23Speaker 2: I got it. And dude rolling up to Blue Sushi
- 47:26Speaker 2: and walking in with Scarlet and everybody, oh my gosh,
- 47:29Speaker 2: yeah yeah, pull up to the table. And then mom
- 47:32Speaker 2: like rolls into the restaurant later and just seeing the
- 47:35Speaker 2: smile on her face, I was like, I got this.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I got this.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Because I want to say early in the game,
- 47:41Speaker 1: it's like you're some sitting there trying to get the
- 47:42Speaker 1: diaper bag ready and I'm like, hey, what all do
- 47:45Speaker 1: we need to put here? Buddy?
- 47:48Speaker 2: Well, being on the show helps too. And I mean
- 47:51Speaker 2: that like being on the show helps too, of like
- 47:55Speaker 2: Jill helping to prep me. But like all the little
- 47:57Speaker 2: dad hacks that I've been getting from guys, I've been
- 47:59Speaker 2: getting from you, it helps. Dude stacks up.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we got a turtle nineteen xx here new shirt idea.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I rode the shockwave this weekend. Might be tricky with copyrights,
- 48:13Speaker 1: but might be worth it. Everyone loves an inside joke. Shockwave.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Hey just the the wolf on top of a rollercoaster,
- 48:22Speaker 2: like right at the drop, he's just about to go
- 48:25Speaker 2: down the drop and he's in the front car.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Just would be electric shockwave. This weekend, I got.
- 48:32Speaker 2: One from Tyler Grosswick four five three six on YouTube.
- 48:36Speaker 2: He said, can we get money line per episode that
- 48:39Speaker 2: shirm starts to shed a tear? Keep up the great
- 48:41Speaker 2: work force? Love that. Hey, the book is gonna you know. Hey,
- 48:46Speaker 2: they say Vegas always wins. I don't know.
- 48:49Speaker 1: You bet the line right now? After these last couple episodes,
- 48:53Speaker 1: you're looking at what a minus two fifty on tears.
- 48:56Speaker 3: That's exactly where I was at.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you are being kind. You could say
- 49:00Speaker 2: minus six hundred. I didn't want to hurt my feelings.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Mine's two fifty.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 49:05Speaker 1: What are the odds?
- 49:06Speaker 2: Hey, what are the odds that's come to my fan?
- 49:10Speaker 1: I have one last one ruler of Latveria BT six
- 49:16Speaker 1: here y'all are the best. So I have two boys,
- 49:18Speaker 1: two and five year old. My two year old with
- 49:22Speaker 1: or my two year old with the last week has
- 49:24Speaker 1: randomly become afraid of monkeys. Wife and I don't know
- 49:28Speaker 1: where he got it from, but it's taking an extra
- 49:29Speaker 1: hour to get him to bed, trying to assure him
- 49:31Speaker 1: no monkeys are in the house. Good fuck yes, yesterday.
- 49:37Speaker 1: The wife tells me so that I watched Toy Story three.
- 49:40Speaker 1: He hadn't seen it yet. Well, near the end he
- 49:42Speaker 1: comes running and screaming because there's a mean monkey in
- 49:46Speaker 1: the Towards the end of the movie. Good and out
- 49:49Speaker 1: of day, she sends a group She sends a text
- 49:52Speaker 1: at nap time, and now he's even afraid of nap time.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Good love it loud, y'all are awesome, Keep it up.
- 49:58Speaker 2: I have a hack for this. Go ahead, my parents.
- 50:02Speaker 2: I was very afraid of monsters under my bed in
- 50:05Speaker 2: my closet. My brother was actually the one that coined this.
- 50:09Speaker 2: So shout out, Jordan, aerosol deodorant, something safe to spray.
- 50:13Speaker 2: You could do some sunscreen. It's monkey spray, dude, and
- 50:17Speaker 2: go spray down everything in the house and take little
- 50:19Speaker 2: guy who was a son, right, yeah, yeah, take a
- 50:22Speaker 2: little guy with you and just go spray everything down
- 50:27Speaker 2: and just be like, it's monkey spray, right right. I
- 50:30Speaker 2: love that idea.
- 50:31Speaker 1: By the way, maybe a lot of fragrance in the house.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Maybe wife won't like that idea, but maybe she'll love it.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Maybe she'll love it. Another little one would be like
- 50:39Speaker 1: stickers that say, like, monkeys are terrified of these stickers.
- 50:41Speaker 1: And you put the sticker on the crib, you put
- 50:44Speaker 1: it at the door, you put it wherever a little
- 50:45Speaker 1: man wants to put it, so that way he knows
- 50:48Speaker 1: monkeys are terrified of these stickers. It like keeps them away,
- 50:50Speaker 1: it scares them off.
- 50:52Speaker 2: And a great way to segue your son into fandom
- 50:56Speaker 2: of whatever your favorite sports team is. Buy just a
- 50:58Speaker 2: bunch of stickers of set sports team. Now we're cooking. Hey,
- 51:03Speaker 2: there is nothing that scares a monkey away like a
- 51:06Speaker 2: Baylor Bear. You kidding me? AKA corn Husker. You throw
- 51:11Speaker 2: this in anywhere. You know what? That inn also stands
- 51:13Speaker 2: word no monkeys.
- 51:15Speaker 1: No monkeys. That's an inn right there, a red one.
- 51:17Speaker 1: They're scared of the color red. No monkeys.
- 51:20Speaker 2: And you just put that everywhere, dude, and then your
- 51:22Speaker 2: kid's gonna love Nebraska. Yeah, those are great.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Those great little Hey, good dad, head, we're good, good
- 51:29Speaker 1: at this?
- 51:31Speaker 2: Okay, n I will fly through these. These are these
- 51:34Speaker 2: are my last two. I'll go back to back and
- 51:37Speaker 2: if there's.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Anything you got to keep it under an hour gote
- 51:39Speaker 1: got to keep it under an hour, so please.
- 51:41Speaker 2: kJ underscore Kitchens on YouTube says pt siico you did
- 51:45Speaker 2: the PT six echo uh here listen to the pod
- 51:49Speaker 2: Since the Days and the gravel Lot with no ac
- 51:52Speaker 2: a true Tier one asking how many Matt Neely's would
- 51:56Speaker 2: it take to take down Daddy Luan, lifelong time Titan
- 52:00Speaker 2: sand boy dad of two years in deploying for second
- 52:03Speaker 2: mission do made twenty twenty six? Congratulations DM Sherman last
- 52:07Speaker 2: week about his dad loss. He voice messaged me back
- 52:11Speaker 2: lost my shit made the wife listen and I've told
- 52:14Speaker 2: basically anyone that would listen, I'm obsessed with the show.
- 52:17Speaker 2: I'm obsessed with all of you boys. I only live
- 52:20Speaker 2: an hour from the shop, so let me know if
- 52:22Speaker 2: you want a psycho on the pod. Shout out Willy
- 52:25Speaker 2: Ce for operating with the wife. Gone love you all,
- 52:30Speaker 2: Pepperinonis ps Wolf emoji Deeke Derek should be the name
- 52:37Speaker 2: Big Deep Derek. Should be the name Big Deep Derek.
- 52:41Speaker 2: They should be the name. Also send a voice message
- 52:44Speaker 2: to kJ as he said, I'm sorry to try to
- 52:47Speaker 2: do that more. I love that. I think it's fun,
- 52:50Speaker 2: but I had a friend that you actually met that
- 52:53Speaker 2: came by the office, Oaks that was close friends with
- 52:56Speaker 2: Matt Neely, and that was my message back to him.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I said that my friend Oaks is also one of
- 53:02Speaker 2: the reasons that I'm here today working for you guys.
- 53:05Speaker 2: So I thought that that was a cool little Matt
- 53:08Speaker 2: Neely working his way through it.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and for those who are curious about Matt Neely,
- 53:12Speaker 1: Matt Neely was one of our first He was our
- 53:15Speaker 1: first social media guy, one of the first guys that
- 53:17Speaker 1: worked with us on the bus, and he suddenly passed
- 53:21Speaker 1: away in that first year in October, and so Matt
- 53:25Speaker 1: Neely is huge. There's huge lore around Matt Neely and
- 53:28Speaker 1: his super fandom with the Titans and then being very
- 53:31Speaker 1: pivotal with busts with the boys, and it's very early
- 53:33Speaker 1: stages in our first year. So that's paying homage to
- 53:36Speaker 1: Matt Neely. It would take seven Matt Neely's to take
- 53:39Speaker 1: down a Taylor to one.
- 53:40Speaker 2: It would take seven seven. He was pretty he was
- 53:43Speaker 2: bigger than me.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta think, you know, one on each limbit
- 53:46Speaker 1: Taylor many one for the head, one for the piece,
- 53:54Speaker 1: and then you know that's six and then just seven
- 53:56Speaker 1: because Taylor's number seventy seven.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true, that's true. Last one we got Mason
- 54:02Speaker 2: Clay Donaldson, twenty one, new to the PT six squad,
- 54:06Speaker 2: but dad of a two and a half year old
- 54:08Speaker 2: daughter in a three day old son. Congratulations Mason. Writing
- 54:12Speaker 2: this comment as I rock my son at midnight listening
- 54:15Speaker 2: to the pod while I let the wifey sleep to
- 54:18Speaker 2: get some rest, just wanted to say that this podcast
- 54:20Speaker 2: has inspired me to be more intentional and present to
- 54:24Speaker 2: both my two year old and my newborn. Good stuff fellas.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Look forward to hearing more stories, advice and lessons. Keep
- 54:30Speaker 2: it up. PT sixer out.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Thank you brother, Thank you Mason.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Yes, I love that we made the trailer with that
- 54:38Speaker 2: in mind, like the trailer launch trailer for the show
- 54:41Speaker 2: with somebody listening to it in the wee hours of
- 54:43Speaker 2: the morning. Yeah, and then you have it right there,
- 54:44Speaker 2: I know.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Thank you, Mason.
- 54:46Speaker 2: That's so sick.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Should we get to some crack of cold one Dad losses,
- 54:50Speaker 1: sabs and downs, I'm crackle one. My crack of cole
- 54:53Speaker 1: one this week goes to Scottie Joe Lee scott Zilla.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Scott Zilla, as you all know here, she's standing for
- 55:01Speaker 1: like ten seconds at nime bro. Yes, yes, So I
- 55:05Speaker 1: was like, what you know, I was watching I was
- 55:07Speaker 1: watching the games and I just scanned over and she's
- 55:09Speaker 1: just standing up next to me and got her hands
- 55:10Speaker 1: in the air looking at me. I was like, ain'ng
- 55:11Speaker 1: gona let daddy, Let daddy take a video real quick.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Got a little video over I can, I can plug
- 55:16Speaker 1: to you guys so you can show it on the screen.
- 55:18Speaker 1: But scott Zilla is standing a little bit now.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Scotty is going to be a problem in the best way. Yeah,
- 55:26Speaker 2: she went over under on how many days of her walking?
- 55:32Speaker 1: I think she walks before she turns one. She's ten
- 55:36Speaker 1: months right now. Yeah, I mean you'll learn, it's not
- 55:38Speaker 1: like it just happens once he starts standing. Yeah, but
- 55:41Speaker 1: I think she'll start walking before she turns one.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I bet she starts walking. But you said ten months,
- 55:49Speaker 2: like on the dot, right, she's ten months.
- 55:51Speaker 1: She is. She was ten months twelve days ago.
- 55:57Speaker 2: So here in three weeks, you think she'll be walking
- 56:00Speaker 2: probably four four? Yeah, maybe it's tough.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Man Like Ruth did a really good job of like
- 56:07Speaker 1: I would stand like I would stand rue like on
- 56:11Speaker 1: my body like this, and she could like walk up
- 56:13Speaker 1: my chest. I felt like, like early into where she
- 56:16Speaker 1: was like trying to walk and everything else, Scotty doesn't
- 56:19Speaker 1: really like move her legs and walk ahole lot very
- 56:22Speaker 1: sturdy and you've seen her army crawling like you know,
- 56:25Speaker 1: I've already made the comparison Michael Parson's on third down,
- 56:31Speaker 1: say Crosby. Yeah, yes, some are saying Max Crosby as well.
- 56:35Speaker 1: It'll just depend man. You gotta get her legs going.
- 56:37Speaker 1: I think when I get home today, it's time to
- 56:38Speaker 1: start putting in some work with her little walker because
- 56:41Speaker 1: she was walking. She was like standing up against Rue
- 56:46Speaker 1: seated at the dinner table and having it and it
- 56:48Speaker 1: was kind of moving it, like walking and moving it.
- 56:51Speaker 2: So woo, I'll get her going. When does the head
- 56:55Speaker 2: like they're able to start hold their head up? Because
- 56:57Speaker 2: Scarlet's almost there, I feel like, is that like question.
- 57:00Speaker 1: I want to research that? You want to research that,
- 57:02Speaker 1: Like three or four months, her head gets sturdy and
- 57:06Speaker 1: you can kind of may maybe toss start tossing up
- 57:09Speaker 1: in the air and stuff rolling them around like hey
- 57:13Speaker 1: you wrestling dad, ain't y?
- 57:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 57:16Speaker 3: Six months six months?
- 57:18Speaker 1: Six months around six months okay, because she's you know,
- 57:22Speaker 1: two and some change on months, and like I'm seeing
- 57:26Speaker 1: her lifting her head and keeping it up when I'm
- 57:29Speaker 1: putting her on my chest. She's keeping this right here.
- 57:31Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god.
- 57:34Speaker 2: So she's she's she's holding her head pretty sturdy, very sturdy.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Could you toss her up? I've done some lifts. I
- 57:40Speaker 2: have done some lifts, and you gotta feel it out.
- 57:43Speaker 1: You gotta like start here and then just kind of
- 57:44Speaker 1: go up a little fast and kind of drops down. Well,
- 57:47Speaker 1: you know how, I kind of know Scotty, like I go, eh,
- 57:51Speaker 1: maybe a little maybe a little too soon, maybe a
- 57:53Speaker 1: little too soon to toss.
- 57:54Speaker 2: You in the air. I brought up the idea of
- 57:59Speaker 2: lifting Scarlet, and she goes, you're not tossing her. I said,
- 58:04Speaker 2: I lifted her. I'm not tossing it. I'm not pausing it.
- 58:09Speaker 2: I'm not pausing. I'm lifting. But Scarlet's old face. When
- 58:12Speaker 2: I lift her up, she just starts beaming. Dude, she's smiling.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Oh that's why I crack a col one.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Dude. There's nothing better when they start smiling.
- 58:24Speaker 2: Okay, first, let me this podcast or this show is

- 59:31Speaker 2: Uh my crack a cold one, and I have a
- 59:33Speaker 2: photo here. I will send it to Chef and Derek
- 59:38Speaker 2: so we can have it on the podcast. But this
- 59:40Speaker 2: happened two weeks ago. I was facetiming my dad, of
- 59:44Speaker 2: all moments, for Scarlett to have her very first smile
- 59:47Speaker 2: with me. She was on the changing table. I was
- 59:50Speaker 2: facetiming dad, and my dad took this screenshot right here.
- 59:55Speaker 1: Oh that is awesome, bro.
- 59:58Speaker 2: I mean, look at this kind of went out right there, woo.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: And I have my boys hat on. That's the best part.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: I'm wearing the boys hat, dude. And she just loves
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: the changing table and I was going, do you love
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: your dad, ass? Do you love your dad?
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Ass?
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I'm kind of doing this with her hand, and she,
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: you know, I started going up and she's like making
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: little noises and big smile and I'm just my dad
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: was totally silent. I was totally silent. We're both sitting
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: there just like, oh my god. That was incredible. And
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: you knew that it wasn't just like her randomly smiling,
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: like she was looking at me and was like smiling
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: because I was in her face talking to her. It
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: was ah, it was good.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: It was really really that juices me up for you guys,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Thank you, because smiling is just the best. And I
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: feel like two. When smiling starts happening, like for the mom,
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: it's such a massive wind because again, these little, these
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: little minions, bro, what's it been ten eleven weeks. Yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: it's like when they finally start smiling, you're getting something
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: in return. Yep, right, because you're just your entire life
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: is sacrifice for them when they're newborns, to where it's
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: just eat, sleep, it's take, take, take, take, take. Moms
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: in postpartiment feeling all these emotions, all these things are
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: going on in her body. For dads, it's like this,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: you know, the stress of like being a good dad,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: being a good husband, all the things, And when the
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: baby starts smiling, it's like instead of it's all the take, take, take, take, take, take,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: and you're finally getting something in return now, which I
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: feel like it's such a big win as a parent,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: especially for the moms, especially for the mom.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Jill's been loving it, and she's been talking to Scarlet way.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: We both have been talking to Scarlet way. Yeah, And
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: just like in the mornings, how much Scarlet loves the mornings,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: and when it's both me and Jill over her, when
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: we're both standing over Oh my god, she's looking at
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: both of us and she's got a clean dipe beyond
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: when she's in a clean onesie and you can just
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: see it all in her face and just the biggest.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Now she's just a smile machine these last two weeks
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: and a giggle machine, like just making little like I like,
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: she wants to talk so bad, and you're just like, oh,
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: it's crazy, dude, with the they always saw it. You
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: have said this that you're gonna love her more and
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: more and more like as time goes on. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: the whole wait till this month. Wait, yes, dude, And
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: it's like it truly is crazy. Just how much more?
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: I told Jill, I just said I'm in trouble. I'm
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: in huge trouble. Yeah, because I thought I loved Scarlet
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: and I thought I knew how much I loved her.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: But keep enjoying. Man, My first instinct is like just wait,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: just wait, but it's just keep keep doing your thing, bro.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: It just gets it weirdly, just it's better and better.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: And it's nothing that you're missing out on with me
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: saying that, it's just it just it gets better.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Well, do you just talking about ru holding this teddy
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: bears and being like I thought I was gonna sleep
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: with you? Like I told that story to Jill, I said,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: imagine me in that situation, we would be halfway to
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: dairy queen getting some ice cream too. Yeah, and she's
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: sleeping in the bed. Yeah, oh my god.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: All right, let's take a potty break, potty break. We'll
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: see after the potty break, see after the body by.

- 1:06:38Speaker 1: We are back from potty break, and uh, Dad losses Dad.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: But I smell it.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: So when we were on potty break, I was a
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: little little little tooth slip.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Right before we started recording. He goes, oh, that's a
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: smelly boy. I'm talking and breathing through my mouth. It
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: sounds like you have a dad loss.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I got a couple. Oh really, a couple dad losses.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: You know, on last week's episode, it was Charles's gonna
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: come home and I'm going to pass the house test.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: It's gonna be spotless, X Y and Z. Yes, it
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: was oh no, and this is one that just snucked
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: by me. This isn't U. Yeah, I don't know what
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: to say. It's snucked by me. But we traveled to
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: you know, that night on Wednesday, I flew to New
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: York because we had ESPN the next Yes, I took
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: off at eight thirty. Charle ends up landing at ten
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: coming home. So we're two ships passing and I don't
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: get to see each other. Great song by the way,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: and you know, it's like you want your wife just
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: to come home to a clean house, so they don't.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: That way, they don't have to stress about anything going on.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: They can just unpack their stuff. They can just probably
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: crawl in bed, get ready for bed, go hug the kiddos,
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: because I'm sure I know she was excited to see him.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: But I get to my hotel probably like twelve thirty
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: in the morning, and then Charles sends me a photo
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: of essential oils just spilled all over her nightstand. With
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: all you it wasn't me, it was Rue. I hate
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: pointing the finger at room. Yeah yeah, but it was
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: her because you know how she stayed with me those
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: she was gone, and uh, there was one night, so
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: the essential oil sat there for like a couple of days.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Apparently it was like bubbling up on the wood and
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: got all over her books and photos. Oh no, yeah,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: but what happened was when Rue was sleeping with me
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: one of those nights, I go upstairs, or I go
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: and get something upstairs, whether it's a sleep machine or
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: I had to get something upstairs and break it back down. Yeah,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Rue being in the bedroom when I came back downstairs,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: she was like, she's just telling me. She was like,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: dad had the lamp fell and I picked it up
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: and put it back, like it's it's okay. And she
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: must've knocked the lamp over.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Yeah, But I'm sitting there and I'm just listening to
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: her story and she's like, I knocked the lamp over
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: by I picked it up. It's okay, it's okay. I
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: picked it up. It's not broken. And I look at
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: the lamp and it seems like it's right up in
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: the right spot where it was. I just look and
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I go, oh, great job, sweetheart, that's awesome. And then
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I go on to like brush my teeth and get
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: ready for bed. I didn't check the night stand. Yeah,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I'm just I look at the lamp. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: it seems like nothing's wrong with it. And if it
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: fell and she put it back up, like that's low
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: key awesome, like great work, kiddo. So I don't even
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: check the night stand. But apparently it knocked over the
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: essential oils. The essential oil was everywhere on her nightstand,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: and Chart was like, you just didn't want to check.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: You didn't just cared to check the other stuff that's
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: sitting on the night stand. If the lamp fell over,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, I was moving and grooving. She kind
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: of told me this story, and I looked at the
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: lamp and it seemed like it was just fine. Reached
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: up and turned it on. It worked, so I was like, oh,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: great job, give her a pat on the ass, and
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: kept it moving. So that was one dad loss.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: There's also an nothing worse than just getting a picture
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: of said thing, because I've been on that side of
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: it to you. Yeah, you just get to pick Were
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: there any words with it? Was it just a picture?
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: It was what happened here?
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Yeah it was.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I forget what the breakdown was, but yeah, dude, And
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: it bummed me out just because I know the effort
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: I was putting in, and I was exhausted. When I
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: was in New York, I was like, all right, let's
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: try to close my eyes and get some sleepy sepp
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: like four hours for I had to wake up for
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: ESPN the next morning. Yeah, and but yeah, that's one
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: day loss. I have a second one. So when we
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: went to the Husker game last weekend and flew out
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: on Friday, yeah, oh I forget. Oh yeah, it was
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: my birthday. So we went out to Benji's Bagels. We
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: had a great little family morning, and then Charo had
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: to go. She had to go do.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Something for bar three.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: So I took both the kiddos. I went and dropped
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: ruof at school, and then I went dropped her off
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: at school, and then I had Scotty and I just
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: had to take Scotty home to see Augie, and uh
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: but what I forgot to do? I drove to the
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: airport and then obviously took off. And then I get
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: a couple of texts from Charro like you left the base,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: left the base, left the base in my truck.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Oh and you only have one set of keys.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I did have a spare. And I told her, I'm like, hey,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: because our our nanny she has a base too, So
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: I think she got linked up with with Augie to
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: get the second yes, because we have we have a
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: base in every car for rue. We only have two
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: bases for Scottie and one's one's with the nanny and
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: one is with Charro.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: Is she doing do? Yes?
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: The Duna like where you just click it in every
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: time about and then you just the car seat click
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: it up in there by the way that survival kit
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: right there, that's you get it do No. I know
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: we've said that one before. We have new viewers. We
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: have new lists you want to add to your survival
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: kit bag. It is rock with the Duna, super easy, seamless.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: With the car seat.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but I left. I didn't get out the car.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: I didn't get out the base. So charl was rocking
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: without a base until she got linked up with Augie.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: And then I didn't take the backpack out of the truck.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Oh the diaper bag, the diaper bag, the diaper bag, backpack.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: I just did that. If it makes you feel better,
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: I just did that. Last week when Jill came up
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: to the office, the bag was in my car. Yeah,
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: to come up to the office and come grab the
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: diaper bag. Yeah.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: And she told me about She was like, did you
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: also did you happen to put the diaper bag anywhere?
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Because she couldn't find it, and she's like, you know,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: not trying to say, hey, did you have the backpack too,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: but hey, did you happen.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: To She was being sweet Yeah, yeah yeah.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: And I was a god, that's in the truck. That's
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: in the drug too, sweetheart, it's my birthday.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: But I love Hey it's my birthday, and ps I
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: be a prioritize yeah a lot.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I told her. I was like, I
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: do have a spare if you wanted to drive over
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: to the truck and get all these things.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, So another dad loss. She did just fleeting brain man,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I know sometimes you used to we just we just
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: don't think.
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: Well you I was bragging before about the birthday dinner
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: that I took scarlet tow all by myself. I left
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: the diaper bag in my car that was from the
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: same thing. So with the wind came a loss as well. Yeah,
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: but we got through it, got through it. Charo had
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: very kind words for you on her birthday posts. By
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: the way she did. I don't usually read the captions
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: that say show more, but I was invested. Yeah, I
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: clicked on it. I was like, hey, that's a good read.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: That's a good like for you. I was like, I
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: bet will that was a good read.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: She's a good little writer too. She is like charl
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: is big. My wife is big on cards, cards, love
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: written word love. Yeah, write on a card. Yeah, Like
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: that's the biggest thing, whether it's birthday, whatever it is.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: She's a big card person. That to her is like
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: that's like a love language for you.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: Did that kind of spark your interest in writing?
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: Guess?
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: And no, almost like I know I have to put
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: an effort. Yeah, Like again, whether it's birthday, Like I
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: could not have a gift, but if I have, if
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: I have a handwritten card, that's the moneymaker right there.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Because you have ability I think in writing as well.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Thank you like the stuff that you've written for the show.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: But also like when when you write down your thoughts
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: and stuff, it's very succinct.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: Some barstool blogs in the past. Yeah, ever, once a year,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: I was good for a blog once a year. And
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: all the time it's like, I want to challenge myself
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: more to write. It's just it's just doing it, man, Yeah,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: it really is just doing it.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: And it is It's such a lost art for him.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: I feel like with kids they now in public schools
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: in Texas, cursive is no longer mandatory. Yeah, and that
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: breaks my heart.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: And with chat GPT now writing, she want to get
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: worse yeah or better? I have no you know, charl
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: hates chat gipt for that reason of writing. Yeah, because
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: she just she enjoys, Like she's reading this book. I
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: want to say, it's like an Onyx and Storm or
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Onyx storm or something like that.
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you were talking about this. She's a Charle is
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: a huge reader, huge reader. It's a fantasy.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Yeah, she can she can run through books, bro, it
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: is crazy. And so she appreciates she appreciates writing, reading, reading, storytelling.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: So also like with her nice little Instagram post, she
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: had a nice little card for me written, the whole
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: thing was covered.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: That's so well done. That's so well done, shout out Chario.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I would you know what you know, like, I
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: don't do it. I want to more but encourage everybody
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: to like journal or write down their stuff. And again
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: this is coming from somebody who tells himself to do it,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: and I don't do it. I have a I have
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: like a I got a cool little like Charle and
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: I like one of our little inside sayings that we
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: kind of got connected on. And what's the word I'm
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: looking for? Bonded over, bonded over carpe a dm oh
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: the phrase carpe dm seize the day. And when we
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: were over in Italy and we were in Rome and
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: everything like that, you know, I love Stoicism. But there
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: were these like journals, these like diary journals whatever, and
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: like those little gift stores. And there's one like leatherbound
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: one that had carp a dm etched in the front.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: So I had like gotten that one with the intention
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: to write in it and my thoughts, philosophies, whatever it is,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: write about the kids, yes, life, and I only have
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: about two pages of it written. That was when we
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: went to Italy, A few years ago. So again I'm
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: encouraging everybody to do it because I think it is.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: I truly think it's like you'll get to this point.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: But thinking of all the times back when Ru is
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: little or Scotty being little right now, like Rue still
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: is little, but all the moments I wish I would
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: just have like journaled down and written down because you
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: think you're gonna remember, but you just don't. Yeah, So
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: why I'm huge and like take as many videos and
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: photos as you can. Is there already some things that
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: I'm forgetting about or I got to remember, or if
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: like Scotty's at a certain age, I'm like, man, where
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: was Rue during this time? And I'm just like, God, damn,
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: I will if you would just write this shit down.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: Man, I need to get better at that too. I
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: do have a I have to brag on myself a
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: really good visual and auditory memory with like I often
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: have friends be like, dude, how do you remember that
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: movie line? Like verbatim? Like I'm able to retain stuff
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: very well. But I'm like, if I applied that to
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: my own life of journaling and then being able to
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: like read that stuff, I feel like I would retain
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: stuff even better when it it's like visual retention. You'd
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: be good, you'd be a good little writer.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: I had a little fun stuff here and there, like
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: little scripts and et cetera. But I need to like
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: write my thoughts down.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I need to do it.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: Write to your kids, write to my kids.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: You want to hear a sad story?
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: Yes, okay.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: So my mom wrote a book, wrote in a book.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: There were three that she had intentions of writing books for. Dude,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: you're kidding, Like, I guess life. I can't tell you
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: what's in there because I haven't read it yet. My
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: dad finds these books after my mom had passed. Yeah,
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: and I was like going through stuff in the next year,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: Like my mom passed away in December. It was like
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: December nineteenth, twenty twenty first, like one of those days,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: and so not that Christmas, but the entire next year.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: My dad came across something in the fall, like when
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: he was like looking through drawers and everything else, and
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: there were these three there's these three books, and one
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: of them mine was written in. I don't know what's
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: in it, and it wasn't all the way finished. But
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: my mom apparently had written to us like she had
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: intentions of like writing to each of us. I know
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: it's sad, holding back some tears, but the other two
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: weren't written in, which makes me sad. And if Cody
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: and Whyett listened to the show, like, I don't even
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: know if they know, because part of me felt bad
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: that I had one and they didn't have one.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, yeah, And.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I haven't read it because part of me is like
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: I'm scared to read it because then in my mind
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: that might be then there's nothing else, you know what
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: I mean. Yeah, that's sad. That's sad story, sad story.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: We gotta have that. Hey, that's sad, that sad story.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: But this is uh, this is why I would say
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: to that is I would never pressure you to like
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: do anything, but you should one million percent read it,
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: and you do it in your own time, like you
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: find the time that you're ready. But you got to
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: read that, and you're what you're you're not wrong.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Part of me is because it sits by my bed,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: so it's like all my night standing next to my bed.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: You have it, Yeah, I have it?
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: My dad? What I was gonna say? The next Christmas?
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: The next year, my dad gifted it to me on Christmas,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: oh wow, And he was like, I came across I
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: came across these journals, these books, and one is for
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: you heavy bro, dude, what oh man? And so it
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: sits on my nightstand and it's like I just don't.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: Part of me is like I have that excuse to
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: where if I read this, these are the last words
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: and then there's nothing else after that. Like I know,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: I still have like her words, they're written to me.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And part of me is.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: Just like I just don't have like the the stones
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: or the courage to open it up and start like
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: reading her words.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Without sounding cheesy like written word is forever. We have
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: books that like people are still being quoted from fair
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: Point thirteenth century, fourteenth century. If anything, I think it
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: will give your mom life by reading those and letting
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: those words live on. That would be my thoughts on it.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: I I think that's oh man, your mom's a good one, dude,
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: your mom's a legend.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Bro.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Damn.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I appreciate those words though. Actually, yeah, that makes
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: a lot of sense. You'll control talk to me about it,
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: but she won't talk, you know. It's more of like
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: I'll be like sweet, I just I can't do it
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: yet I don't want.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: To, and I don't blame her. I have the same
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: thing with Jill's stuff with her dad, Like I just
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: feel like that's a place where I, you know, I
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: let Jill make those decisions.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: So it's just hard. You obviously see the emotion that
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: comes out when I just talk about her. It's like
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I feel like if I open the book and just
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: start reading words like, I won't even be able to
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: make it, dude, very far. And then I'm like, man,
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: I just don't want to be in that emotional state.
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll find the right time. Yeah you're right, You're right.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: But that also that that is like inspiring me to
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: now want to write stuff for Scarlet.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: I know, yeah, because when the moments I do think
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: about I'm like, well, you just got it. You gotta
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: start writing.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: Jill wrote a letter the second time I took her
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: on a date of that like she knew that I
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: was going to be the guy that she married, and
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: she read that she kept h at her purse forever
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: and when I proposed to her or she brought out
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: that letter to read it, dude, I had to pull over,
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: like driving over and proposing to Jill because I was
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: like this, like trying to drive, like written word is
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: so crazy. That's awesome.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I need to do that more. Let's challenge ourselves,
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Dad's that's a good challenge. It's a good challenge. Everybody's
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: cashing their bets right now.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: What was the lie? I feel like bald guys can't
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: cry either. I'm telling you it's minus six they cry.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: It should have been minus six hundred. Oh my gosh.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: We also we gotta get some wigs for Will, sorry, Derek, cause.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: It's the only thing I could ever offer to you
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: guys as a dad hack is I heard it a
- 1:23:46Speaker 5: long time ago. Make a Google driver a Gmail account
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: for your daughters. And so that's where I have a
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: journal for myself. That's a Gmail account that is just
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: my name journal and every big day. So when I
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: was proposing to my fiance, when I was doing these things,
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: I write notes to myself and I don't go back
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: and look. And so if you do want like that
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: small bit of it, I always say, like, one thing
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: I can't wait to do when I have kids is
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: like make them an email account and just write like
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: first day of preschool stuff like that. Just because it's
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: the digital wage and things like that. So that's how
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: I get my writing out.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: Just throwing that up. That's a sick idea.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: That's a great idea.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: That's a dad hack.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: That's a dad hack. Man.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: I am, I have my trenches if we want to
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: go into that second, absolutely, because I don't. I for
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: the first time and for the dad's history, I don't
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: have a dad loss. That's big. I bet we could
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: find one though, if we really wanted to dig for it. Sure, Jill,
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: we have dad lots. In five seconds, you're like, yeah,
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: do you see the toilets heat this morning? There? You gods,
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: but the trenches. Jill's birthday party, it was absolutely incredible. Bill,
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: being pregnant has not had like the opportunities to be
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: as social as she has wanted to be and to
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: like host events and to drink alcohol in like a
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: celebratory way and all those things. And so her thirtieth
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: birthday she did a fantastic job of just ordering like
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: all these little tablecloths and little lanterns to like hang
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: in the trees and twinkle lights. And her stepdad built
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: that a frame I was talking about on last week's episode.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: We hung all the twinkle lights and it was just
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: like an epic night. Chef pulled through Furda, pulled through
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: Ryan pulled through. Chef looked good in his Teddy Bear
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: hat too. He rocked the Teddy Bear hat at Jill's
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: party and looked like a dude. But the trendiest part
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: of it was doing all that with no family in
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: town and like balancing taking care of Skarlet and setting
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: up for the party. And I just have to kind
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: of give myself a poundment back, but really give Jill
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: a pat on the back, because it was so sick
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: seeing us operate with like Scarlet's crying. Scarlet's crying, put
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: her in the baby Bajor and put her in the
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: front yard, and we're rocking her in the front yard
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: as we're like putting up the tables and I'm hanging
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: the lights. And then now Scarlet's in a good mood
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: and she's looking at all the leaves up in the
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: trees and gone, oh, like ah, you are making noises,
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: and we're like, oh, Scarlett, you like the party, and
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: like everything was just so incredible. The night of the
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: party was incredible. We did have I will keep his
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: name out of it because I have not talked with
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: him about sharing this. But we had a dude at
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: the party that was coming fresh off of a torn
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: laborum surgery and he was talking to chef and uh,
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: while he was talking to chef, his shoulder went out
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: of socket, and I guess like the world closed in
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: on him and he passed out like four or five times,
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: like fully at the front door of our house, like
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: pass out into my arms. Thankfully I was right there
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: and caught him. I was like, oh man, this guy's drunk.
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: That's what I thought too, And he didn't see it. It
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: was so weird. He kind of like all of a
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: sudden because he was so sober. Yeah, he was looking
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: at me.
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: He goes, do you have all the like out of
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: like that you have a bathroom or something here? Like
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: I was like, oh what, let me sure, And I'm
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: grabbing schirms over by the tragger badass trigger by.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: The way, thank you will shout, oh yeah, shout out.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Rectech made some Halpino poppers that was fun amazing.
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: Uh yeah, and he just I didn't see him pass out,
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: but he looked.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: I was like, man, this guy hammered and just hiding it.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: It was crazy. I catch him and he's fully limp.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: He's around your size, not like uh is filled out,
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: but I mean way bigger than me.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Hey boy.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: Yeah, And so I catch him. I'm like, oh my god, Jared,
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: they would me out of nowhere, like comes up and
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: we're getting them pulled up and dude he like came
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: back to He's like, hey, do you have a bathroom.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, let's get into the bathroom. Ountain know
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: what's going on. And we get him like five steps
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: into the house and he just again, and that time
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: I like caught him, caught him. We got him on
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: the couch, and thank god, Jill's a nurse and had
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: like eight of her nursing friends there that dude was
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: taken care of. They had they had a steposcope on him,
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: they were checking poles. Everybody at the party like it
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: died for like ten seconds and everybody's like, oh my god. Yeah,
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: But it ended up all being good. He was totally fine.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: We like we laid him down horizontal and he ended
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: up getting home safe and they diagnosed it with what
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: happened with the shoulder. I guess they popped it back
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: in place for him. It's crazy, but I know, but
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: that whole night, everything about it, with all the little
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: curveball oh and the entire time that that's going on,
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: Scarlet would not go down for the first time in
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: two weeks. She's in her crib the entire time, going
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: like screaming as I'm holding this guy, and so as
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: soon as we get him on the couch, I'm like,
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: I gotta go tend to Scarlett.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: Yeah, And I was.
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: In the nursery for like twenty minutes as the party's
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: going on, just being like, come on, girl, like of
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: all nights, I need you to go down, I need
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: you to go down.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: Can I give a quick shout out too, shirm because
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: as someone that was just there, him and Jill both
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: handled themselves really really well. You'd have a ye're aware
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: that Scarlet isn't going down. They have a baby monitor
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: out there on the tables, but they're still like, you know,
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: extremely kind and courteous. It's you know, handling it like pros.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: I mean, it was very cool to see you guys. Uh.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: I'm sure that was a lot and internally probably really hectic,
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: but you couldn't see that from the outside. They were
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: amazing hosts of this awesome venue. Sure them on the
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: grill is.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: Dangerous, dangerous Texas boys. Texas boy. I don't know that
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: smoker is a pretty big cheat code. I mean you
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: put that day. I have an app in everything, he said.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know. People can mess up
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: the smoker. Yeah, yeah, well come on now, there's a
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: little if you're mess If you're messing up with smoker,
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: we need to talk. We need to have a little combo.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: But drug.
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: And that's true. It's the Indian, not the Arrow as
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: they say. But yeah, it was fun. It was actually
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: shout out Chef, and shout out Ryan, and shout out Matt.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: We call him Ferda in this office. Jill said her
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: favorite part of the night was talking to those three guys.
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: And that was my other crack of cold one is.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: I looked at the party, all the twinkle lights, everything
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: going on, and all Jill's friends are meeting, all of
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: Mitch's friends. Everybody's kind of bonding. And I look over
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: and I see Jill with the drink in her hand,
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: and y'all had drinks in your hands, and they're laughing
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: so hard. For is doing something crazy. He's like acting
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: something out Jill's dying laughing. An hour passed by, truly
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: an hour, and I look back up and Jill was
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: still talking to those three guys and they're still laughing.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: And the next morning she woke up and she said,
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, my favorite part of the party
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: was talking to those she calls them the interns, which
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: y'all aren't interns anymore, but she was like, talking to
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: the interns was They are so much fun. It was
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: just like that life like coming back of like, yeah,
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: being able to like live and be in the moment,
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: but also bouncing the scarlet, taking care of her. It
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: was awesome.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: That was my trenches, y'all. We did watch the bust
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: and Bowl. We did watch the bust and bawl.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: The boys are riding. Yeah, should we get to some callers.
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: Let's get to some calls.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: Six one the dads. You want to be featured on
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: the show? Uh call in and leave a voicemail. Can
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: be about absolutely anything. A dad wain and dad lost,
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: something you're learning, something you want to have been about.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: This is a safe space for dads and we have
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: at or sorry six o one the Dads at gmail
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: dot com for our international listeners. Yes, if you want
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: to shoot an email? Yes, yes, say that one again,
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: six o one the dads at gmail dot com. How many?
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: How many?
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: How many we doing this week? Does we got two?
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Two callers? We'll go quick?
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:32:39Speaker 7: What's up?
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: Well?
- 1:32:40Speaker 7: I just wanted to share with you a little story,
- 1:32:43Speaker 7: little answer that I had with my three year old
- 1:32:45Speaker 7: the other day. By the way, I just had another daughter,
- 1:32:48Speaker 7: uh about a month ago, but I also got a
- 1:32:51Speaker 7: three year old the other day.
- 1:32:52Speaker 8: I'm working from home on my computer.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: I look over.
- 1:32:55Speaker 8: My three year old is riding on the walls with
- 1:32:58Speaker 8: motherfucking whiteboard marker. I fucking a reserve judgment. I wait,
- 1:33:06Speaker 8: she looks over. I mean, my first thought is the
- 1:33:08Speaker 8: ripper anew him? I hold off, so I just ask, hey,
- 1:33:11Speaker 8: why'd you do that? She looks me dead in the
- 1:33:14Speaker 8: fucking eye and says it wasn't me, it was John Cena,
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: John fucking Sina. I didn't know what to say, so
- 1:33:23Speaker 8: I immediately dropped a wrestling promo on how fucking dare
- 1:33:26Speaker 8: you bring up John Blame John Cena, seven time world champ,
- 1:33:31Speaker 8: the franchise. Matter of fact, go to your room. It's
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: rough dude, raising a baby, You're just basically staring.
- 1:33:40Speaker 7: At it fucking all day, making sure it's fine and
- 1:33:43Speaker 7: fucking not dead.
- 1:33:45Speaker 8: A three year old, it's fucking war. It's fucking war
- 1:33:49Speaker 8: every day, and they need to teach this shit in schools.
- 1:33:52Speaker 8: How is the fucking guy supposed to prepare for this?
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: What the fuck?
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: The only thing I'll say is, how do we know
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: it wasn't John Cena. You can't see him, you know
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: for a fact. How does a three year old connect
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: those dots to go ultimate Alibi and the man? So funny,
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: John Cena.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: He's not wrong about with the three year old. It
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: is just war verbally at all times. Twenty four to seven.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: You say one wrong thing to them and they think,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: you know, they're in their world thinking they're doing whatever
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: it is. They just snap at you, bro, Yeah, like
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: I'm doing this first. I told you I'm doing this first. Okay,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: take it easy, Jesus Christ.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: We also have to put the real reaction video in
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: this episode to the hair.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Bro me walking in with the bald head and just
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: her like scared for life, but also still kind of
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: trusting what I'm saying.
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: And her voice as you walk in before she sees
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: you in the dada and then as she sees you
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: just total monotone.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: Yeah, your nervous, a very nervous energy.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: Do you like it?
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: Yes, silent nod.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: You want to touch it? And she's just like and
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: then kind of.
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: Like she was she was, yeah, I'm not sure.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Oh I did to get her last night because we
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: kind of motivate her with a piece of a cookie
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: for after dinner.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: Oh heck yeah.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: And she was on one not want to eat a
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: hamburger patty. We had burger cut up the burger. She
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: wanted it with the bun, but all she wants to
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: do is eat the bun, not the burger.
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: Hey, that's a good call, good call.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: I was like, sweet, I'll get you the bun. We'll
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: get you the bun, but you're eating the burger with it.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: And she's like, okay, I know. I'm like, well, if
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: you know, then why haven't you already been doing it?
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: And so I'm like tearing off the burger bund and
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: then she eats the burger bund and well, I tear
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: off one piece and I put it on her plate
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: and then I'm the burger bun and she's like I
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: want more. I was like, no, your bun's right there.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: I want to see how you're gonna do the bun
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: and the burger like you said, like you said you.
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: Were gonna do it.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: You do that, I'll give you some more piece of bread.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: She's like, I don't like the burger. She got. She
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: puts the bread in her my house and starts eating
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: and she's like, I don't like the burger. She starts whining,
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: and I'm like, you know, pissed off. I'm like, you
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: said you're gonna eat the burger, like you gotta eat
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: the burger with the bread. And she's like, I want
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: more bread. I want I want more, I want more
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: of the pun.
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: I want the bun.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: And so I'm like, I'm like, fine, i'll give you
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: a bun, but you're eating the burger. So I start
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: turning off the bun and put.
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: So my daughter's a liar, now that's what we're doing.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: And she likes.
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: She like picks up the piece of bond and I'm like,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: you're putting burger on that. He's like, I was like, here,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: I'll show you how to do it. She starts getting
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: fussy and I like, take the fork and like, get
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: the bun, get the burger with it. I'm like, this
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: is how you eat it, and then she doesn't want
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: to do it, so she just kind of sits there.
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: And it's what I've kind of been doing recently, Like
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: when I was solo with her last week, like this,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: this was what I was.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: Hitting her with.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: Okay, if you don't want to eat, you don't have
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: to eat. You can go sit on you can go
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: sit on the couch.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: You don't have to eat. And what she would do.
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: She didn't do this last night, but what she was
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: starting to do is she might get up and mosy
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: around the couch or whatever, and then she's like that
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: kind of have a cookie. You ain't getting a cookie
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: cookies for CPC Clean Plate Club. You only get a
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: cookie if you're part of the CPC.
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: And hold on one second. We have the membership card
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: right here. Let me oh, yeah, you're not on that,
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: as is on it. That as good as a cookie.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: But last night Mom is like it got to a
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: point to where she was starting to eat the burger
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: in the bond. I was fired up by I see,
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: I told you it's good. It's fun to try new things,
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: cause it might taste good. That's Daniel Tiger. Come on, Danny,
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: Come on, Daniel Tiger. And it got to a point
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: where Charles like, uh, you can eat three more bites
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: and you'll be done or something like that. And so
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: she so she eats three bytes and then she like
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: gets off the chair and she runs over to get
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: a cookie. And she was like, uh that I get
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: a cookie. I get a cookie.
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: I was like, you can't get a cookie. You're not
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: part of the Clean Play Club. So Mama said, three more,
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: three more bites. I'm like, yeah, three more bites and
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: you can be done eating. If you want a cookie.
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: You're eating all this burger.
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: That's CPC.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: You're yeah, that's how you get into the Yeah, you
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: gotta be CPC. If you're gonna get a cookie.
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: TBC is three bike club that don't get a cookie.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: That don't get no cookie. You can be done eating food.
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: If you are fool and you're done eating food, then
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: have at it. You can be done eating food. And
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: she said, but I want a cookie. I was like,
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: if you said you're full, then how are you gonna
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: have room for a cookie? You can't you're full? You
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: said you you can't eat anymore, and.
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: Then her wheels are spinning a house. She's like kind
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: of sitting there looking.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: I'm like, if you listen, you ate your three bytes,
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: that is amazing. You can be done eating for the night.
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: You can be done eating. You can hang out, you
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: can go play, you do what whatever you want. But
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: if you want a cookie, you're eating that plate of food.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: She goes over, knocks it out. Bro, let's go knocks
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: it out. That's a dad win, Big dad win, Big
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: dad up. And I walked by my wife. You see
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: how Dad I handled that one.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: You're up.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I'm gonna go watch. I start breaking it
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: down here, just like you know, psychologically in her mind,
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: it's what I was telling her while you were gone.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: Sometimes she didn't want to eat any dinner. Sweet, you
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: don't have to eat dinner. I'm not even I feel
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: like you if you put the pressure on the kid,
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: or you start stressing, which happens like again, it happens
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: for me like every day. Yeah yeah, but you start
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: doing that, they just start getting resistive and fighting you
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: about it to where they don't end up eating. You're
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: all done eating food. They haven't eat a bite of
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: their plate and you're kind of just sitting there at
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: the dinner table, like, sweetheart, we need you to start eating.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: She wants to play, she wants to journal. She's got
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: this journal to where all she basically does is like
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: scribble in between the lines. Thinks she's right, she thinks
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: she's writing something. She's like, right, sweetheart, you gotta start eating.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: I'm finiching my journal. I'll finishing my journal, then I'll
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: eat food.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: I'm like, you ain't even write nothing of something, just
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: finish that line. I saw that journal is gonna be
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: there when you're done eating food.
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: We need to and also we're we're good on that,
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: but we are time wise. It is n I'm thirty two.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: I texted clumpetson nine forty five for the okay, perfect for.
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: The team meeting. But yeah, that's how.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: That's how that has been handling dinner time for parents
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: out there looking for some techniques, looking for some strategy. Dads,
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: you want to put the wife on some game, because
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: after I executed that, I'm kind of tea I'm kind
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: of telling Charlie like I'm like, in my brain, I
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: think I'm teaching her what to do because I won't
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: buy a nuger. You see how I handled that one.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: You gave her three bites. You would have gave her
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: a cookie. I know you would have gave her a kikie. No,
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: that ain't how we handle it.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: I would have. I would love to see Will on
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: a whiteboard to just charrow. You see how I did.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: You see what's going on when we run that so
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: in her brain?
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: If I just tell her she doesn't want to eat
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: any of her food, I just homly, all right, Hey,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: you don't eat, that's fine. You ain't getting no snacks.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: You ain't getting nothing else, No juice, no snacks, no
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: TV coupon, no cookie, no nothing. If you want to
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: be done eating, you don't have to eat. We can
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: go get ready for bed.
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: She has to think she's in control, Chara. We gotta
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: let her make the mistake and learn from it. Yeah,
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: and that's how we're gonna do it. Right here. Let
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: me show you out.
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh you want to go to bed hungry, Go ahead,
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: I promise you do your thing. You don't eat food
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: that we worked, that we worked on. We've had a
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: hard day. We want to just have some love and
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: support here at the dinner table tonight and you don't
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: want to respect that.
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: Go ahead, go do your thing. Oh you just want bread.
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: See how you're Tommy feels tomorrow morning.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: Yeah, let's just see bread. Yeah, go ahead, eat whatever
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: you want, sweetheart, do your thing. Oh you want a cookie.
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: That's funny. Now you're in my world. Now you had control.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: You just gave it back to me. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: you want that cookie. Come eat this plate of food, sweetheart?
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: Oh my god, she though.
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we are we're we are short on time.
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: We're coming up to an hour, so we can kick
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: it to our topic. Quote or lesson of the week.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: Do you have one?
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: I have a quote of the week.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: I have a quote as well.
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: Okay, sick, do you wanna I can go? I can go.
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: Rock paper scissors, rock paper scissors, rock paper scissors.
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: Shoot, rock paper scissors. Shooe okay, okay, rock paper scissors. Shoot. Ooh,
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: so I got you wanna go first or second? I'll
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: go first? All right? Quote of the week. Oh man,
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: this was really good. Okay. This comes from my dad
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: Loss of like for listeners of the episodes, you know
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: my big dad Loss that featured the airport for somebody
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: that's new. I had maybe the biggest dad loss of
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: all time, like two or three weeks ago, and let's
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: just say I should have been in the doghouse for weeks.
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: Jill is a very forgiving wife and we love her
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: for that. During my crash out, I was saying how
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: I felt very like I felt like I fall short
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: a lot of the time, and that Jill doesn't think
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: that I'm a good dad. Jill's my wife, and she's
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: sitting there reassuring me that she thinks I'm an incredible dad.
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: And then she hit me with this quote, which WiFi listeners,
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: empty six ers out there, hit your hubby with this one.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: Oh man. She the next day she said, I'm sure.
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: I just want you to know that when you're at work,
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: me and Scarlet we talk about how much we love
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: our dad and how awesome our dad is all the
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: time when you aren't here. That's it. That's the quote.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: And that melted me. Melted me of just like you
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: might think you're falling short, but like we talk about
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: how awesome you are and how much we love you
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: when you're not around. And I was just like, oh,
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: I just hold onto that when I'm at work and
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: I miss him. That like I have a partner that's
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: sitting there just gassing me.
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: Up at home, and it just juicing you up unless
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: you forgot the diaper.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: Bag, unless I forget the But even when I forget
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: the diaper bag, she's sitting there saying, you have the
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: best dad in the world, which I'm just.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: Like, your dad is so awesome. Even he falls short.
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: Sometimes, even he falls short, even he leaves the diaper
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: bag in the car. But that that was my quote
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: of the week.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: Think you love that.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: The tears fill the eyes again yet again. You're a
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: good dude. Man.
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: Hey, thank you MiG as. Are you minus six hundred?
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: By the way, the odds have to be pushed.
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: I think you're in plus odds. You get multiple cries,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: it's like a it's like.
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: Oh sorry, sorry sorry plus six hundred.
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: That's like two plus touchdowns.
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: Yes, I met plus last year when christ McCaffrey was
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: playing so well that people were like, well, it's mis
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: two hundred for touch it might as well go two
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: tuddies and yeah, twuddies.
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: Yeah that is right.
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: Wait is it? If there's a big likelihood of it happening,
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: it would be minus six hundred, right, because like the adds.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: Right, but you did it twice.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: Oh I see, so if you.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: Took the first one, hey over under the boys?
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, cryer.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Anytime the boys cry on the episode, likely very likely
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: that minus six hundred you get them twice, two separate occasions.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: The odds start, you know, going down.
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. I do like that.
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I do like that. I have a I have
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: a quote as well.
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: One of the greatest things a father can do is
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: to show his children that he, too, is still learning.
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: And a couple of takeaways from that is, uh, it
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: shows them humility over pride. So kids see that dad
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: doesn't have it all figured out and it's okay, and
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: it helps take the pressure off them of being perfect
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: when they see you falling short and you kind of
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: and you kind of explo laning through your shortcomings. I
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: feel like it helps takes pressure off the kids because
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: they see us as the superheroes, right Like anytime a
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: shortcoming happens and you pull from your rolodecks of an
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: experience from the past, and they're kind of like locked in,
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: like oh, Daddy, you cried too, or Daddy, you've gotten
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: booboos too, or you know, Rue came up last night
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: when I was putting Scotty down and was kind of
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: crying and I was low key. When she came in,
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: I was like, damn it, Rue, because I was just
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: getting Scotty to sleep and Ruke opens up the door
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: and she's got like the cry noises going and she's like, Dad, Dad,
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: I'm like, what is this, sweetheart? And she was like
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: I need a hug. I'm like, oh, you want to
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: hug Scotty.
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: She's like no. I was like, oh, you need her
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: from dead? Then's what's going on? What's wrong?
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: And she's like, uh, I spilled water. She must have
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: spilled a lot of water downstairs. And so I was
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: giving her a hug and let her know it's okay
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: that had spills water all the time. I promise if
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: this is going to be okay, you know what, even
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: Scotty Jojo she gets in Waffle's water bowl every day,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: spills water everywhere, and that's okay. I'm sure. I don't
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: even know the situation that happened. I'm just saying, I'm
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: sure you're trying to be perfect and try to do
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: something nice and spilled and it's gonna be Okay, so
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: that whole humility over pride perspective. It also teaches that
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: growth is lifelong. They learn that growth doesn't stop, whether
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: it's after school, if they're older, after work, after any
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: big moment in life, that growth is lifelong, that you're
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: always staying curious, you're always trying to figure out ways
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: to get better. And then the third thing is modeling curiosity.
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: Children imitate more than they listen. They see us like
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: seeking wisdom, reading, learning through a failure, struggling of falling
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: short at times, loving on mom like you're modeling this behavior.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: Because here's something else I found. I came across that
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: it feels like ties the bow on this one, ok.
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: And that every parent should want should remember that one
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: day our kids will follow our example and not our advice.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: So we can have all of the words the world,
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: We can have all of the great you know, whatever
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: it is one liners, or if they do something wrong
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: and you're kind of telling them what they should be doing,
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: or you're always giving them solutions and not like being
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: in the problem with them, if you're always just talking
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: at them and you're not modeling this behavior, you're not
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: modeling these examples, you know, the words that'll that'll go
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: through one of year out the other. But if they
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: see you modeling this stuff too, that it's okay to
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: not be perfect, that us that we are, we are
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: also still learning in our superhero form, to them that
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: it gives them the courage to do the same, like
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: as they get older, as they grow, like when they're
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: in their own sticky situations. But yeah, that was my quote.
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: I love that was a quote. Dad lesson on it,
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: thoughts on it.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: To apply quickly to my own life. Just in adulthood.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: There are multiple situations where I think to myself, not
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: a shot in hell my dad would do that, Like
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: when I'm pressed up on a situation of oh, here's
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: the easy way of you could do this, and I
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: just imagine my mom or my dad would be like,
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: no way they would do that. So even to this day,
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: like that you like followed their example or like what
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: that creation of morality or decision making that you have
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: pictured of your parent, Like here at thirty two years old,
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: I'm still sitting there going, no, I'm not gonna do
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: that because there's no way my dad.
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: Would do that. Yeah, No, I agree, even on the
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: stuff that the behaviors that we would grow up seeing
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: or witnessing that we wouldn't necessarily want to put into
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: our bag of parenthood. Or if you don't realize you're
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: doing it, Like maybe this is going to be a
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: broken way of trying to explain this, But let's just
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: say subconsciously, you had you saw a bad model of
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: behavior from your parents growing up, right, and then you're
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: then a parent one day and maybe you're not doing
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: the best job, and you might not even realize that
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: you think you are, but everybody's on you, and you're
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: kind of just projecting all this stuff and realistically, like
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: you're just thinking you're modeling, you're subconsciously modeling the behavior
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: that you saw growing up. So where there's some you know,
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: probably some therapy sessions or some things that you need
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: to look like cool see in the mirror to forgive
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: your parents for or to like learn from that, you realize,
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: like you're just modeling that behavior. So I think it
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: goes like both ways, one hundred great examples of how
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: your parents would handle it, and even subconsciously, like when
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: you think you're you know, when you're you're not doing
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: the best, you don't even know that you're not doing
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: the best. But if you actually sit down and sit
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: with yourself, like say you're sitting there with the therapist
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: and then you're coming to grips or you're coming to
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: Jesus about like you know, the way you are being,
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: and you realize it's a lot of a seed that
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: was planted when you were young, a lot of things
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: that you witnessed that wasn't good for you or good
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: for your soul that you're not even aware that it
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: wasn't good for your soul. But you're learning that you've
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: been projecting all this out into the world, and you
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: know that's when the tears come and you start to
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: forgive yourself and all these things start to happen. But again,
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: you're just modeling behavior that you saw growing up. Because
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: a lot of people, majority of people come from not
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: great situations.
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: Yeah you know what I mean.
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: We all have experiences with our parents at one time
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: or another to where it's like, you know, this is
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: not a behavior you want to have, Like it's the
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: whole saying of like you want to be better than
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: your parents, or your parents they want you to be
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: better than them too. But those generational curses that you
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: think are curses, But really it's just you're just remodeling
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: behavior that you thought you that you thought you had
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: to do, that you witness growing up.
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: Yes, which is innate in like most mammals like that,
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: behaving like your parents. Yeah, like that is a it
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: is deep seated in us. Yeah, like that is a
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: normal thing. But to your point, like those things can't
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: be broken, those things can be identified and eliminated from
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: your bag of shortcomings.
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Great, example is just a buddy calling in and saying,
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: like when he saw three year old drawing on the wall,
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: and he's like, I wanted to react, and maybe he didn't. Maybe,
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: like you know, but just use that example. If he
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: grew up in a household to where you're correcting bad
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: behavior in a like a verbally negative way, you might
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: not know any different. You think you're parenting the way
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: you know how to parent. Everybody else's so off you
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: need to be harder on your kids when really it's
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: just a three year old riding on the wall. But
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: in that moment, say he was somebody who grew up
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: in a bad model behavior household, he's wanting to react,
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: but maybe in that moment he's intentionally grabbing himself like
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: this is a generational curse that I'm starting to break.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: This is a three year old scribbling on the wall, Like,
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: let me just ask her, hey, what are you doing?
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: Anditate you with that.
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: It wasn't me, it was John Cen. But it's moments
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, you know what I mean that you
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: can just take from an easy example of this could
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: go that way because the parent doesn't know any different.
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: He thinks this is how you have to correct this
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: behavior of drawing on the wall. But really you're scaring
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: them and everything else because they're just a three year
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: old and they have no clue what they're doing. But
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: if you're that dad who like, who's frustrated, But you
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: can just grab yourself in the moment to be like,
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: you know, hopefully you're in a good mood about it,
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: but if not, you grab yourself and intentionally think she
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: doesn't know what she's doing.
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: Yeah, where we doing it? Yeah?
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: Why you get the markers out right now? That's permanent marker.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: This is called the permanent marker. And this over here
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: that's called the wall.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: Yeah you wanna yeah, yeah, you wanna know what I'm
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: gonna have to make up to fall on the sword
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: for your mother.
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: White board.
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: Yeah, sweet, I didn't have a white board. Like I'm
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: gonna have to make this make sense somehow. What made
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: you think this is a good idea.
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: I was having fun with the girls. I'll fall on
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: the sword for you. For the love of God, we
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: can't be coloring on the wall.
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I hate to cut it, cut a short, but
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: we we do have to wrap up. Yeah, we gotta
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: wrap up. Good soud bald bi great bald brigade, bald
