- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, guys, Welcome back to another episode of Quid Confidential.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I have two very exciting guests here today with me
- 0:06Speaker 1: or tonight rather because it is evening in Los Angeles.
- 0:09Speaker 2: And the cold of December.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I have Jules Huff, dancer, actor singer, Sonny's mom and
- 0:17Speaker 1: her amazing assistant, Lindsay Shields. Oh.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Yes, and we all decided to dress the same and
- 0:22Speaker 3: all black.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Well, you two are in your knee high boots.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Yes, thanks for having us, Thanks for coming. This is fun.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It's gonna be very fun.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I can't wait.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I'm like, when I was thinking about what we were
- 0:39Speaker 3: going to talk about, I was like truly dumbfounded.
- 0:43Speaker 4: I was like, what are we actually going to talk about?
- 0:45Speaker 5: Oh?
- 0:45Speaker 6: I think we have a lot to talk.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I don't know, I like real personal stuff, but I'm like,
- 0:49Speaker 3: usually I'm like talking about career stuff, and like, this
- 0:52Speaker 3: feels really fun.
- 0:54Speaker 4: It's gonna be very fun, very excited.
- 0:55Speaker 6: It's a good Friday activity.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Okay, so you guys can through me.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Yes, how long has.
- 1:01Speaker 6: It been in your relationship to date? Without a year?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:05Speaker 4: Almost?
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah, we officially started what like February, were chatting in like, yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 3: we were December January.
- 1:12Speaker 6: Yeah, we were. We were in the talking phase before
- 1:15Speaker 6: we started dating.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, we were texting.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and okay, so February twenty twenty five.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yes, Okay, honestly, it's been amazing. Thank you so much
- 1:27Speaker 3: for introducing us.
- 1:28Speaker 2: This is my absolute pleasure.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I mean, I look at you guys, and I think
- 1:31Speaker 1: to myself, this is some of my best work.
- 1:33Speaker 4: This is mad Heaven for sure.
- 1:36Speaker 2: It makes me very happy.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And especially I think when I saw both of you
- 1:40Speaker 1: posting from the same spot this summer wakeboarding, I was like,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:44Speaker 6: That, And.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I know that's what's kind of insane, is that we
- 1:50Speaker 3: obviously never knew each other. You guys have connects, And
- 1:53Speaker 3: that's what I was saying before we started. The world
- 1:55Speaker 3: is so small, and we've worked together in other capacit
- 2:00Speaker 3: and it's hard to find your your person who you
- 2:05Speaker 3: feel like you match with, you feel safe with, you
- 2:08Speaker 3: feel like you can you know, move forward in your
- 2:11Speaker 3: life with as far as like career goes, and feel
- 2:14Speaker 3: like you can trust.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And and then the fact.
- 2:16Speaker 3: That like we had all these little people and and
- 2:19Speaker 3: and uh situations and locations all in common.
- 2:23Speaker 6: It was like and it just keeps happening.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, like the synchronicities of like why we are supposed
- 2:28Speaker 3: to be together? Just keep confirming themselves.
- 2:30Speaker 6: Oh my god, yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Why And it's like we don't need to get into
- 2:34Speaker 5: it because that would take hours, but it is crazy stuff. Yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 5: so it's it's it's a nice reminder and a reason
- 2:41Speaker 5: that makes me so happy.
- 2:44Speaker 1: What were first impressions of one another? And when did
- 2:46Speaker 1: you know that Lindsay was going to be your person?
- 2:49Speaker 4: I guess it was really early on.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I remember when we were on Zoom and I just remember.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I have to say I'm not very good at interview
- 3:00Speaker 3: hiring because I usually feel like I just go very
- 3:04Speaker 3: emotional and connection and like I'm like are they going
- 3:08Speaker 3: to do the job?
- 3:09Speaker 1: Though?
- 3:09Speaker 3: Like right, Like I love people, and if somebody's bright
- 3:13Speaker 3: and bubbly and all that, I'm like great, But then
- 3:16Speaker 3: I'm like, wait, are.
- 3:17Speaker 4: They going to be able to like execute? Execute?
- 3:19Speaker 3: And so before we had our first interview, I literally
- 3:24Speaker 3: asked friends.
- 3:24Speaker 4: I was like, what questions do I need to ask
- 3:27Speaker 4: because your friend chat? Yeah?
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, but truly because I was like, wait, all I
- 3:33Speaker 3: usually do this wrong. I'man like a connection person, but
- 3:36Speaker 3: like I really need somebody to do a great job,
- 3:39Speaker 3: and so I felt like I.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Was much more primiared.
- 3:42Speaker 6: I thought I was gonna say, I thought you were great.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Yeah, And but I think the difference in what I
- 3:47Speaker 3: experienced with Lindsay was you were so engaged and then
- 3:51Speaker 3: you're curious. You asked questions. Instead of it was me
- 3:55Speaker 3: just getting the answers out of you, you were also
- 4:00Speaker 3: part of the conversation. And I was really impressed with
- 4:04Speaker 3: that because I felt like, Okay, one, you're gonna be
- 4:07Speaker 3: able to hold your own in your own situation with
- 4:09Speaker 3: people that I'm going to be working with, but also like, yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 3: you're you're not here to just please me.
- 4:16Speaker 4: You are total to actually like be a.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Part of and I think that's what I've been looking for,
- 4:21Speaker 3: is more of a partner.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Well, And it's as much as I'm in your life,
- 4:26Speaker 6: you're in my life.
- 4:27Speaker 5: So it's arguably a two way interview of like me
- 4:31Speaker 5: being curious and asking you, because.
- 4:33Speaker 4: You also have to decide to like it's.
- 4:36Speaker 5: A mass exactly, and I do you know there are
- 4:39Speaker 5: things where were like, Okay, Like I'm sure there's people
- 4:42Speaker 5: in these roles where they're like, I don't love that
- 4:44Speaker 5: but I'll try it versus I think I'm at a
- 4:46Speaker 5: point in my life now where I was like, I don't, like,
- 4:49Speaker 5: why sign up to not do something that I don't
- 4:50Speaker 5: want to do?
- 4:51Speaker 2: Right?
- 4:51Speaker 5: So I was very just like I think when I
- 4:54Speaker 5: went in, very intentful of what I wanted. And then
- 4:56Speaker 5: you know, it's you don't get a you get a
- 4:59Speaker 5: dose over zoom.
- 5:00Speaker 6: And I think we met in person that.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Sooms are tough, that you can never really Yeah, it's
- 5:03Speaker 5: a good way to scream someone.
- 5:04Speaker 6: Yeah, And then we met in person and that just
- 5:07Speaker 6: felt right.
- 5:08Speaker 5: And I will say she's very she's very smart, like
- 5:11Speaker 5: she's talented in performance, but she's also very very smart.
- 5:16Speaker 5: And the like kind of the vision she laid out
- 5:18Speaker 5: for me of what she wanted to do was immediately
- 5:20Speaker 5: exciting for me. And I was like, I'm in and
- 5:22Speaker 5: a lot of that I had done in previous roles,
- 5:25Speaker 5: Like I have a background in fashion and at a
- 5:27Speaker 5: tech startup and this just like that kind of was
- 5:32Speaker 5: the nail on the coffin and be like all right,
- 5:34Speaker 5: like this is going to be fine.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah, And even though you didn't have a traditional assistant background,
- 5:38Speaker 1: that experience sort of was relevant. I'm sure with fittings
- 5:42Speaker 1: and now Dancing with the Stars, Like, how did you
- 5:46Speaker 1: how did you utilize your background having Yeah, yeah, let's
- 5:50Speaker 1: talk about that.
- 5:51Speaker 5: So I worked in fashion, and so it's because I
- 5:54Speaker 5: love brands, and in her world it's always brands.
- 5:57Speaker 6: So I think that's one.
- 5:59Speaker 5: But also when I was at Tory Birch for a
- 6:00Speaker 5: couple of years and kind of the way we looked
- 6:02Speaker 5: at marketing was this like three sixty scope where like,
- 6:06Speaker 5: you know the brand, here's like the wheel of the
- 6:08Speaker 5: brand and all the spokes of like what marketing, it's
- 6:11Speaker 5: like three sixty campaigns basically, And.
- 6:13Speaker 6: I think the way I look at Jewels.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Is like she can have a three sixty campaign, like
- 6:19Speaker 5: whether it's you know, dancing with the Stars, you know,
- 6:23Speaker 5: there's something on YouTube, there's brand deals, there's so many
- 6:26Speaker 5: different facets coming at her, but she's kind of like.
- 6:28Speaker 6: The center of that wheel.
- 6:30Speaker 5: That is like was helpful for me coming from the
- 6:32Speaker 5: marketing background. And then just like I think also fashion
- 6:37Speaker 5: in New York is fast paced and like you gotta
- 6:39Speaker 5: you gotta move. I think LA is great, but it's
- 6:42Speaker 5: like can be a little bit slower. So New York,
- 6:44Speaker 5: I always say was a great training ground for me
- 6:46Speaker 5: because you just it was you had to be on it,
- 6:50Speaker 5: and it was intense. It was very much like del
- 6:52Speaker 5: War's BROADUS. So I think that was a great skill
- 6:55Speaker 5: that I could fashion.
- 6:56Speaker 6: New York is intense.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I came from but it's a great training ground really,
- 7:00Speaker 5: And so I'm just like I'm quick on things, or I.
- 7:04Speaker 6: Like to be.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I'm yeah, But I also then you there's a twofold
- 7:07Speaker 5: of that because then you also don't want to be rush.
- 7:10Speaker 5: You don't want to do things without intent. So yeah,
- 7:14Speaker 5: it's that There's been a lot that I've pulled from
- 7:17Speaker 5: my background in both fashion and a tech startup and
- 7:21Speaker 5: just working with different executives and people. And my tech startup,
- 7:25Speaker 5: I worked with like the CEO all the time, and
- 7:27Speaker 5: you just show up to party, show up to events,
- 7:31Speaker 5: and you ask them questions about them. Like we go
- 7:33Speaker 5: to things all the time, and it's like, you know,
- 7:36Speaker 5: I can move around a room, but it's just.
- 7:37Speaker 6: Because I'm asking people about them.
- 7:39Speaker 3: But again, and that's why I want to say, because
- 7:42Speaker 3: a lot of experiences that I've had in the past
- 7:45Speaker 3: with assistants have been people pleasing and like, as much
- 7:50Speaker 3: as that is great for a period of time, it's
- 7:54Speaker 3: not sustainable. And also like with the differences, Like again,
- 7:58Speaker 3: Lindsay shows up and she so curious and is so
- 8:02Speaker 3: hungry to like understand every person's job in the room.
- 8:07Speaker 3: And so it's a relational experience as well.
- 8:10Speaker 4: It's not just.
- 8:11Speaker 3: About Again, it's not just about I am not the
- 8:15Speaker 3: only thing here.
- 8:16Speaker 4: It is the entire ecosystem.
- 8:18Speaker 3: And to navigate and to have a foot in every
- 8:21Speaker 3: you know, door of what's happening and have this level
- 8:26Speaker 3: of respect and.
- 8:28Speaker 4: This two way stream of communication.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I mean, whether it's me as a person or me
- 8:34Speaker 3: as an entity or as a business, you are a
- 8:37Speaker 3: representative of that business. And so like the level of
- 8:41Speaker 3: trust and like exhale that I have been able to
- 8:44Speaker 3: have that I haven't had in probably eight or nine years,
- 8:49Speaker 3: has been like transformative for me.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Oh my god, that works my heart so much.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think what you just said hit so hard.
- 8:56Speaker 1: It's like when you're searching for an assistant. Life is
- 9:00Speaker 1: so big. You have so many different things going on.
- 9:03Speaker 1: There's people that Lindsay is going to be interfacing with.
- 9:05Speaker 1: So to be able to blindly send her out into
- 9:07Speaker 1: a room or bring her to an event. You have
- 9:10Speaker 1: to know, Okay, this person's going to represent me well,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and I'm not nervous about her having a conversation with
- 9:15Speaker 1: someone saying something off the rails. I trust her completely,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I know her. You trust her?
- 9:22Speaker 4: Yeah, well, it's a relationship.
- 9:23Speaker 3: And I think that like when when you think of
- 9:26Speaker 3: dating or friendships or anything like that, like an executive
- 9:31Speaker 3: assistant is literally the person that knows everything about you
- 9:37Speaker 3: and vice versa, Like I want to know as much
- 9:39Speaker 3: as I can about Lindsay and what's going on in
- 9:40Speaker 3: her life too, because again it's not just it's the
- 9:44Speaker 3: perfect balance. You can't just like do a job and
- 9:47Speaker 3: be unemotional and like unrelational. You can't just be the
- 9:51Speaker 3: like fun person to be around. They have to do it.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a hard balance.
- 9:55Speaker 3: It is like it's easier than don say a long
- 9:58Speaker 3: time to find you're mad.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Yeah, but I will say sorry and we're like focusing
- 10:03Speaker 5: on yeah, here we go.
- 10:07Speaker 6: Not us.
- 10:09Speaker 5: I think Jules immediately was quick to trust me, which
- 10:14Speaker 5: I haven't had in a lot of roles before. And
- 10:16Speaker 5: then once your micromanaged, like you might as well handcuff me,
- 10:19Speaker 5: and like I like, I will not do my best
- 10:23Speaker 5: work if I micromanaged and she trusted me immediately, which
- 10:27Speaker 5: I remember being like, Wow, this is new for me,
- 10:29Speaker 5: but like this is amazing because there's no benefit to you.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Are you to do this or you do this? I
- 10:35Speaker 5: think you kind of gave me those like free reigndom.
- 10:38Speaker 6: In the beginning.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Maybe it was a test, maybe that's just how you are,
- 10:41Speaker 5: but it allowed me to get so comfortable so quickly
- 10:43Speaker 5: with you, and yeah, just to kind of like take
- 10:47Speaker 5: off from there truly, Otherwise I really.
- 10:49Speaker 6: Would have been like frozen in my work.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I had another client and her assistant who sort of
- 10:55Speaker 1: went through the opposite where she was micromanaging too hard
- 10:57Speaker 1: and like breathing down her neck to a point where
- 11:00Speaker 1: the assistant was like, I can't. I feel like I'm
- 11:04Speaker 1: just being babysat all day and it's making me more stressed,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and it sort of like was you know, their downfall. Unfortunately,
- 11:11Speaker 1: So some dynamics work for certain people, and clearly you know,
- 11:15Speaker 1: I will say, though it's not that common for a
- 11:17Speaker 1: lot of my clients to just be like I trust
- 11:19Speaker 1: you at the bat, I feel like that's I mean.
- 11:20Speaker 1: But Lindsay obviously is so different and she came from
- 11:23Speaker 1: a mutual connection, like we knew each.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Other previously, so it was a little different.
- 11:27Speaker 1: But I think like trust obviously at the same time,
- 11:30Speaker 1: is something that's earned, and when you have someone who
- 11:33Speaker 1: knows all your passwords and stuff, it like can be
- 11:35Speaker 1: super scary if it's the wrong person.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, I also think it's it's how somebody shows
- 11:40Speaker 3: up though, Like what were we talking about yesterday?
- 11:44Speaker 4: I was talking about how like.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Reason, I know we were talking about five minutes ago,
- 11:51Speaker 3: you know, but like where sometimes like it's how somebody
- 11:56Speaker 3: holds themselves that allows the other person to feel comfortable.
- 11:59Speaker 4: And so like because because.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Lindsay is so secure in herself and like knows who
- 12:07Speaker 3: she is, she has a vision for her life, she is,
- 12:12Speaker 3: she has a full life for her, it made me
- 12:17Speaker 3: feel more comfortable to trust her because.
- 12:19Speaker 4: It wasn't just all about me, right, Like that.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Can feel suffocating to in a way that like I've
- 12:25Speaker 3: had I've had other people in my life that are
- 12:28Speaker 3: incredible as far as like nurturers, but it was almost
- 12:33Speaker 3: so much that it almost was like, oh my gosh,
- 12:36Speaker 3: this is this is too much for me, or the micromanaging.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I think only really happened with one person with me,
- 12:44Speaker 3: which was we just were the wrong fit.
- 12:47Speaker 4: We just like I only micromanaged.
- 12:49Speaker 3: When it's like I don't I don't have good communication
- 12:52Speaker 3: and I'm a pretty good communicator as far like I
- 12:56Speaker 3: am able to communicate what I need, what's not working,
- 13:00Speaker 3: and we just could not communicate. So like that was
- 13:03Speaker 3: the only I was like, I'm drying, I don't know
- 13:05Speaker 3: what to do. Let me ask this in another way.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Nope, is that working? Yeah, let me ask chat And
- 13:10Speaker 4: now I got me again, Yeah exactly, not again. I
- 13:15Speaker 4: think that was a pre Megan.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I hope so yeah, but yeah, So it has
- 13:23Speaker 3: a lot to do with how you also are able
- 13:26Speaker 3: to see who matches who and like what is going
- 13:31Speaker 3: to be a good match energetically, physically. I mean, we
- 13:35Speaker 3: have fun together and we laugh together. Two and that
- 13:37Speaker 3: is a huge part of my life. Is like if
- 13:39Speaker 3: there is not joy and like giggles, then like it
- 13:44Speaker 3: gets too serious.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Totally get Yes, I have.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Weird humor, and so people can be.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Like, well, this is what I was gonna say.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Sometimes I will be at a loss for words and
- 13:55Speaker 3: all of a sudden, out of nowhere, Lindsey will just
- 13:57Speaker 3: say something and.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Then I'll.
- 14:01Speaker 3: And so it's it's almost like she says it under
- 14:04Speaker 3: her breath, but I'm like looking for a word and
- 14:06Speaker 3: then I say it, and I'm like.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Say that. It's so funny.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Okay, So speaking of funny, what's the funniest thing or
- 14:22Speaker 1: is there a story that you guys want to share
- 14:24Speaker 1: about working together that's been very memorable for.
- 14:27Speaker 5: The Remember when I first it was Earlier On with
- 14:30Speaker 5: you and it was Vanity Fair Oscars and.
- 14:35Speaker 6: Your outfit.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Do you know what I'm gonna say, No, You're you
- 14:39Speaker 5: had that like amazing Scafarelli.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Dress, the one where I looked naked in the back.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, And I love the stylist, but she has
- 14:46Speaker 5: terrible eyesay, and I would tell her that to her.
- 14:48Speaker 6: Face, and so she uses my eyes to help with
- 14:51Speaker 6: like certain things she can't see.
- 14:53Speaker 5: And so you had a your dress clipped down where
- 14:57Speaker 5: your private area is.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Yes, Oh my gosh.
- 15:02Speaker 6: I was on like no one could do it.
- 15:04Speaker 2: She couldn't just because it was like one month into
- 15:06Speaker 2: the job.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, so bad out like fully doing the kids.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Under my eyes almost But I was like, lindsay, I'm
- 15:18Speaker 4: so sorry, you gotta get in there.
- 15:20Speaker 6: So I was like on the floor, hands and knees
- 15:23Speaker 6: in her kitchen, like.
- 15:24Speaker 3: It's also not even like no, I did not have
- 15:27Speaker 3: underwear on because you couldn't with this there was up there.
- 15:30Speaker 4: There was no like snaps.
- 15:32Speaker 3: It was a hook and eyes, so you had to
- 15:33Speaker 3: really get in there, like I mean that those kinds
- 15:37Speaker 3: of yes, those are those are like.
- 15:40Speaker 4: I mean, she trusted me.
- 15:42Speaker 1: There are some straight men who apply for these assistant
- 15:46Speaker 1: jobs and sometimes they're like, why aren't I a fit?
- 15:49Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, you know there's a gang.
- 15:52Speaker 4: They've been like I'm like, hmmm, I don't have HR.
- 15:55Speaker 4: How am I doing here? Just having a full meeting
- 15:58Speaker 4: while I'm in the shower yesterday yesterday, yeah, yesterday.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Even often make up artists, we were like setting up
- 16:07Speaker 3: in another room and we usually do hair make about
- 16:09Speaker 3: there and I was like, I haven't showered. I was
- 16:11Speaker 3: like in the shower, I like picked my head out
- 16:12Speaker 3: and she's like, do you care if I make I
- 16:14Speaker 3: was like, I don't know if you know, so like
- 16:16Speaker 3: we just fully I am showering.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Father.
- 16:19Speaker 6: It is a team of we. It's all women, it is.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And you've been with your greater team for a long.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Time, Yes, I will say that, like usually I'm I'm
- 16:29Speaker 3: a pretty consistent loyal person no matter if we shift rolls,
- 16:34Speaker 3: like we'll always find a way to continue to work
- 16:36Speaker 3: together in some sort of capacity. But like Rihanna, she's
- 16:40Speaker 3: been my hairstylist and said it was I don't know,
- 16:43Speaker 3: nineteen years old, my god, and oh my gosh, talk
- 16:47Speaker 3: about sisters like we will later. I mean, we have
- 16:51Speaker 3: a lot of stories, but like, well, you know, the
- 16:53Speaker 3: whole season of Dancing with Stars. I can be a
- 16:55Speaker 3: little sassy with her sometimes.
- 16:57Speaker 4: And the last episode.
- 16:58Speaker 3: She got sassy back and I was like, oh, you've
- 17:00Speaker 3: been holding that in. But it was so funny. It
- 17:06Speaker 3: was really like it's so good, Like it's just.
- 17:09Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a fun tease yeeah. It is especially when
- 17:12Speaker 6: you're traveling.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I feel like that and probably doing a show, there's
- 17:15Speaker 1: just so many more opportunities for like funny stories and bonding.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Oh yeah, outside of the house or office.
- 17:21Speaker 6: It's good.
- 17:22Speaker 4: It's a good mix.
- 17:23Speaker 3: I feel like once once you find your people too,
- 17:26Speaker 3: like and like the loyalty of staying as much as
- 17:29Speaker 3: you can and moving through things instead of like, oh
- 17:32Speaker 3: this isn't working. I think it just it gives you
- 17:35Speaker 3: a really good idea of I don't know like how
- 17:40Speaker 3: it's it's growth as a human.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Because you're a leader. I think a lot of the times.
- 17:45Speaker 3: This is one thing that I learned when I was
- 17:46Speaker 3: eighteen years old, and like I just learned it a
- 17:49Speaker 3: few years ago, which is when you're in the entertainment
- 17:52Speaker 3: business as an artist or celebrity, you don't realize this,
- 17:57Speaker 3: but you are the business. And so when you're hiring
- 18:01Speaker 3: people around you, it's not just about like hiring a friend,
- 18:08Speaker 3: do you know what I mean that can take care
- 18:09Speaker 3: of you. It's literally like growing your business and your empire.
- 18:17Speaker 3: And so like those choices, you don't know how to
- 18:20Speaker 3: make those decisions at eighteen years old, you know, But
- 18:23Speaker 3: if you meet people along the way and you can
- 18:27Speaker 3: continue to grow with them, Like I always say, it's
- 18:30Speaker 3: like when you're in a relationship at a young age,
- 18:33Speaker 3: you don't know anything.
- 18:34Speaker 4: You either grow together or you had a chapter of life.
- 18:36Speaker 3: You move on and then you grow and then you
- 18:38Speaker 3: meet somebody else that matches you at that stage. But
- 18:40Speaker 3: if you can grow that whole time, I mean, that's
- 18:43Speaker 3: like it's pretty unheard of and it's a hard thing
- 18:46Speaker 3: to do really hard thing.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Do you need to give yourself a lot of credit
- 18:49Speaker 1: there because it's so rare for someone to stay with
- 18:53Speaker 1: the same people and keep people around for so long
- 18:55Speaker 1: and be so busy like you are, but also give
- 19:00Speaker 1: your team the tension that they need to check in
- 19:02Speaker 1: with them, be like, are you guys happy? Like be
- 19:05Speaker 1: a leader, Take the time to care about who's working for.
- 19:08Speaker 4: You and working with you.
- 19:09Speaker 3: You don't think that you're being a leader when you're
- 19:13Speaker 3: that age and then building a team. You're hoping people
- 19:16Speaker 3: will take care of you. And I think that the
- 19:18Speaker 3: thing has shifted in my perspective of like how am
- 19:23Speaker 3: I showing up as a leader for my team versus
- 19:26Speaker 3: how are they taking care of me? And I think
- 19:28Speaker 3: that's that's been the biggest shifting.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Well, that'll take you to the next level too, because
- 19:32Speaker 5: people also want to be directed and they'll do well
- 19:34Speaker 5: if they're directed correct, right, And the more direction you give,
- 19:37Speaker 5: the higher we can all go together.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and you'll just attract the right people around you.
- 19:41Speaker 6: Yeah, right.
- 19:42Speaker 5: I think sometimes you get in jobs and there's no
- 19:44Speaker 5: direction and everyone's just running around in circles and you're.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Just pluateauing there are so many times when like again
- 19:52Speaker 3: relationally speaking, Lindsay can clock things before I even know
- 19:57Speaker 3: what's happening and be able to manage a situation and
- 20:01Speaker 3: with some very high emotional people and I don't even
- 20:08Speaker 3: know it's happening. And yet like there is a there's
- 20:14Speaker 3: a deep respect of like, thank you so much for
- 20:17Speaker 3: handling that because and I never even it didn't even
- 20:22Speaker 3: have to come into my field, into my orbit, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 3: and like.
- 20:25Speaker 5: I kind of look at my job like I'm kind
- 20:27Speaker 5: of I'm the last line of defense to you, and
- 20:32Speaker 5: I know, like Dancing with the Star show days are crazy,
- 20:35Speaker 5: so I will do whatever I can to be like
- 20:37Speaker 5: fruit Ninja and get things out of the way, you
- 20:40Speaker 5: know what I mean. Like that's the visual I have
- 20:41Speaker 5: in my head that like could affect her because she
- 20:44Speaker 5: used to be on my TV for two hours and
- 20:46Speaker 5: it's intense. So those days especially, I'm like, okay, what
- 20:50Speaker 5: is going on, like kind of clocking everything and letting
- 20:54Speaker 5: her know if it's urgent or necessary, I will share
- 20:57Speaker 5: it with her, or I'll save it and I'll if
- 20:59Speaker 5: it's don't necessarily share with her at another time.
- 21:02Speaker 6: But I think that that's part of.
- 21:03Speaker 1: My job delivery and timing, figure out what's urging. If
- 21:06Speaker 1: she looks stressed, do I need to bother her about
- 21:08Speaker 1: this right now?
- 21:09Speaker 5: There's so many things I could throw at her at once,
- 21:11Speaker 5: but I'm like, Okay, I'm gonna save that for later.
- 21:12Speaker 6: I'm gonna save that for later. This doesn't need to
- 21:14Speaker 6: happen this week.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Like there's a whole like hamster wheel in my head
- 21:18Speaker 5: of you know, how to present things over fend off things.
- 21:24Speaker 6: But it's on the other side of that.
- 21:26Speaker 5: A lot of my job, too, is creating and fostering
- 21:29Speaker 5: relationships with people on her team. Yes, and that you
- 21:33Speaker 5: know you're not you you. I think you learn as
- 21:35Speaker 5: you go and you might not click with people, but
- 21:37Speaker 5: you gotta like you're the one that they communicate with.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Help me, help you help Yeah, totally, and.
- 21:43Speaker 5: It if they're nice to me, it's gonna go great.
- 21:46Speaker 5: But like now I'm kidding no, but it's it's very
- 21:52Speaker 5: like those relationships will go far, and I don't. I
- 21:56Speaker 5: don't weigh the many differently that I'd weigh my relationship
- 21:58Speaker 5: with jewels, Like the glam team that we have on
- 22:01Speaker 5: Dancing with the Stars, I I text them separately. I
- 22:05Speaker 5: call them separately. Our publicist. I have a great relationship
- 22:07Speaker 5: with her that like I don't need to call them,
- 22:09Speaker 5: but I do, and it's just catching up, like calling
- 22:12Speaker 5: our public juice publicist. We're friends. She's talk asking about
- 22:15Speaker 5: my personal life all the time. I know everything about
- 22:17Speaker 5: her and it's like I don't have to but actually
- 22:19Speaker 5: enjoy it and it helps the long run.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So when I makes your job easier, totally everyone's job easier.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Well, And honestly, that's what I trust is that in
- 22:29Speaker 3: any in any dynamic, people want to be known and
- 22:32Speaker 3: they want to know. And so knowing that you know
- 22:36Speaker 3: my people that are like around me and that they
- 22:40Speaker 3: know you is just another extension of me feeling like
- 22:45Speaker 3: they get they get what I'm trying to do, and
- 22:48Speaker 3: I know what they're doing because you also inform me
- 22:50Speaker 3: to when sometimes yeah, life gets crazy. And by the way,
- 22:56Speaker 3: Lindsay has heard me spiral many times. This is this
- 22:59Speaker 3: is my fa favorite part.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Is like we're figuring out she's figuring out.
- 23:03Speaker 3: My patterns of like when like when I'm on my period,
- 23:09Speaker 3: when of course, when like I come off of a show,
- 23:13Speaker 3: when I feel like I should get you to answer
- 23:15Speaker 3: all this because I.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Want to hear it.
- 23:16Speaker 3: But like, but the good news is I will say
- 23:19Speaker 3: I'm having a spiral moment.
- 23:22Speaker 6: And like now you don't no, not right now?
- 23:25Speaker 4: I was like.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Yeah, but I also share those moments too, because also
- 23:32Speaker 3: like recognizing where how many places I can go, like
- 23:39Speaker 3: I don't know, instead of trying to just again, it's
- 23:43Speaker 3: this personal relationship is so much more than just checking
- 23:47Speaker 3: off the list of things that need.
- 23:49Speaker 4: To be done. Totally it is.
- 23:50Speaker 3: It is a like masterclass in emotional intelligence and understanding,
- 23:55Speaker 3: you know, and navigating the different spirals or the happy
- 23:59Speaker 3: moment it's flow state, like and what had to happen
- 24:02Speaker 3: in order for me to get to that place or
- 24:05Speaker 3: what situation and environment were we in that activated something
- 24:10Speaker 3: and like but you.
- 24:11Speaker 5: Communicate that well and that's that's like I think why
- 24:15Speaker 5: this is successful. It's because it's a trickle down effective
- 24:17Speaker 5: like because you communicate that to.
- 24:18Speaker 6: Me and how you're feeling.
- 24:19Speaker 5: I know, you know your state of beings, so when
- 24:23Speaker 5: anyone comes to me for certain things, I.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Know what to green light to red light.
- 24:27Speaker 5: Yeah, like again that last line of defense like keys
- 24:30Speaker 5: to the kingdom, so I can understand, I can really
- 24:34Speaker 5: I can control what goes on around you in that regard, right,
- 24:36Speaker 5: But it starts from the top, Like you're just very
- 24:38Speaker 5: self aware and you're very good at expressing how you feel.
- 24:40Speaker 6: You don't you don't.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Hide things, you're not confine. Its doing that made me go.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Fine.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I think it's so crazy when people are like that.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Like I'm very blunt too. But I also think that
- 24:57Speaker 1: the emotional aspect of these jobs is the most challenging
- 25:00Speaker 1: for people. Yeah, I think there's a short window to
- 25:02Speaker 1: kind of establish the dynamic for communicating and for like
- 25:05Speaker 1: the tone that you want.
- 25:06Speaker 2: To have through this relationship with your.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Assistant or your staff. And if you miss that window
- 25:11Speaker 1: and then your boss is having a spiral or having
- 25:13Speaker 1: a bad day, you're really not gonna be able to
- 25:16Speaker 1: like separate it because you're not going to know like
- 25:18Speaker 1: what's going on, or like, I think it's very important
- 25:21Speaker 1: to inform your assistant, Hey, I'm not having a good
- 25:24Speaker 1: day today. If people need to get in touch with me,
- 25:26Speaker 1: will you just you know, handle XYZ exactly, Or because
- 25:30Speaker 1: you obviously know Jeel so well, she might not even
- 25:33Speaker 1: have to verbalize stuff.
- 25:34Speaker 2: You'll probably just know right because you have.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Really good emotional awareness but some people it's the most
- 25:41Speaker 1: challenging part of these jobs, and that's when it sort
- 25:43Speaker 1: of goes south.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Well, I also think too, like you're also smart enough
- 25:47Speaker 3: to know it has nothing to do with you, and
- 25:49Speaker 3: it actually doesn't have anything to do with anybody either.
- 25:53Speaker 4: It's like I have a spiral.
- 25:55Speaker 3: For instance, I'll give an examples like usually after a
- 25:58Speaker 3: big show like dancing, when the stars is done, and
- 26:00Speaker 3: I've been so immersed in it and so present and
- 26:02Speaker 3: been doing so much that when it finishes, there's like
- 26:06Speaker 3: the come down, you know, show blues, so that automatically happens.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I'm aware of that, but then I'm like, oh my gosh,
- 26:13Speaker 3: I have to catch up on all of the other
- 26:15Speaker 3: things that I didn't get to during the season.
- 26:19Speaker 4: But I'm I have momentum, So then who's who's Who's
- 26:24Speaker 4: keeping track of it?
- 26:26Speaker 3: Ah, And I have this like spiral moment where I
- 26:29Speaker 3: feel like overwhelmed while I'm crashing. And so what Lindsay
- 26:35Speaker 3: has been so great at is like even before I
- 26:39Speaker 3: start the like air going like this, it's like She's like,
- 26:44Speaker 3: we got this, let's go, like you do the shoulder
- 26:47Speaker 3: things and then you've got and for a dancer.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Guy, I've learned to dance.
- 26:53Speaker 3: A laptop out she was ready to go. I'm taking notes.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Let's I'm gonna talk to Troy and do you like
- 27:00Speaker 3: I've got it all. It's like you you do it
- 27:03Speaker 3: in a way that makes me feel like I can
- 27:06Speaker 3: just spew go talk I got it and not and
- 27:10Speaker 3: not have to have my shit together and I and like,
- 27:13Speaker 3: but but there's a level of respect.
- 27:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Again, I'm not like weird where I'm just like oh.
- 27:18Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, but I'm but I definitely am like,
- 27:21Speaker 3: oh my god, I feel overwhelmed in here, and I
- 27:23Speaker 3: gotta say this, and like she's organizing my chaos, and.
- 27:27Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of times it's just your brain dumping.
- 27:29Speaker 5: So I'm like, all right, I'm gonna write this down.
- 27:31Speaker 6: I can't remember all this.
- 27:33Speaker 3: But just like the if I can be a chaotic,
- 27:37Speaker 3: she can be a container, or like sometimes I am
- 27:40Speaker 3: very leader and I can be very contained. But like,
- 27:44Speaker 3: just the ability that all parts of me can exist
- 27:47Speaker 3: with you is I.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Think the dream the key to success.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Yah.
- 27:52Speaker 7: Yeah, but I think it also fully I love you,
- 28:01Speaker 7: I love I also loved with guys, I'm literally seeing
- 28:08Speaker 7: your smile like it makes me.
- 28:10Speaker 2: You have no idea the level of joy that this
- 28:12Speaker 2: brings me. It's really fun for you to see the
- 28:13Speaker 2: best part of my job.
- 28:15Speaker 4: That's awesome, really a connector.
- 28:17Speaker 5: But like I'm of success with connecting people like I
- 28:20Speaker 5: love when I.
- 28:21Speaker 2: It's almost like bumble for me, you know, like the high.
- 28:24Speaker 5: I would get from your job of knowing that you
- 28:26Speaker 5: like successfully match like this is it's that's amazing.
- 28:29Speaker 6: That's a hard thing to do.
- 28:30Speaker 2: It is very nail it down. I'm like, let's go.
- 28:33Speaker 3: There's so many very well and I think like also,
- 28:36Speaker 3: I mean, we are coming up on our year, and
- 28:38Speaker 3: so it's like, you know, also going through like what
- 28:43Speaker 3: was great this year? What was like you know, what
- 28:45Speaker 3: was challenging? What we're what what are our like intentions
- 28:49Speaker 3: this year? What are what are personal goals? What are
- 28:52Speaker 3: work goals? You know you said it best to often
- 28:57Speaker 3: the other day. It's like, you know, everybody has also
- 29:02Speaker 3: a personal goal that they want to have, and so like,
- 29:05Speaker 3: for instance, I don't want to like say too much
- 29:07Speaker 3: without Afton's permission, but you know, there was a certain
- 29:11Speaker 3: job that like she would be dying to do that
- 29:14Speaker 3: she would work as a local and like do it,
- 29:17Speaker 3: but you have to communicate that also so that your
- 29:20Speaker 3: people know so that they will hire you for that,
- 29:23Speaker 3: you know, and and so like also knowing what Lindsay's
- 29:27Speaker 3: personal vocals are within your career of like I don't know,
- 29:31Speaker 3: there might be something that like you really want to
- 29:34Speaker 3: go to this event because this brand matters to you
- 29:38Speaker 3: or something, so like maybe I wouldn't have thought of that,
- 29:40Speaker 3: but like I will.
- 29:41Speaker 4: You know, It's like I want to also know what.
- 29:43Speaker 6: I would like, but I want to know what you.
- 29:49Speaker 4: In your don't know.
- 29:53Speaker 6: How I think that's important.
- 29:55Speaker 8: Being on Dancing Stars it was amazing.
- 29:58Speaker 5: I mean it's it's chaos for that the day that
- 30:03Speaker 5: it's live, but and it's it takes a village, like
- 30:07Speaker 5: if you had a body camera on her.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I mean, because it's it's a live show, but it's
- 30:13Speaker 3: it's eight am. I arrived there, and there's there's rehearsals
- 30:17Speaker 3: and script read throughs and camera blocking, and I mean
- 30:20Speaker 3: it's it's constantly it is.
- 30:22Speaker 5: Minute by minute, like no not short of that, and
- 30:26Speaker 5: you know it was a machine. What basically like goes
- 30:28Speaker 5: on behind the scenes is that you know, no one
- 30:31Speaker 5: really probably has a lens into unless you're on the team.
- 30:35Speaker 6: You know, there's girls are part of the team.
- 30:38Speaker 5: Is their social team is up by Jewels, up in
- 30:40Speaker 5: the skybox posting live. I'm in the dressing room, probably
- 30:44Speaker 5: with one of her talent managers or someone that's coming
- 30:47Speaker 5: to visit or family member. You know, Glam's running around,
- 30:50Speaker 5: but she's in hair makeups. Starting at nine, it's the
- 30:54Speaker 5: same glamb through the day. There's a photographer for you know,
- 30:57Speaker 5: a week a half hour window to shoot. You know,
- 31:01Speaker 5: they're getting her micd up. If she's dancing, she has
- 31:03Speaker 5: to do quick changes like.
- 31:05Speaker 4: It is Sunny's there, so she's also.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I told you to bring Sonny.
- 31:10Speaker 4: I know.
- 31:11Speaker 5: But it's it's really really fun. It's it's amazing. And
- 31:15Speaker 5: sometimes I'll sit in rehearsals and do some work and
- 31:17Speaker 5: kind of see the show and that's it's fascinating to
- 31:21Speaker 5: watch these people and then to think that what she
- 31:24Speaker 5: does also and you're reading live.
- 31:26Speaker 6: Yeah, it's it's you know.
- 31:28Speaker 3: My favorite is is like I think after the first
- 31:31Speaker 3: or second episode or maybe both, like we had like
- 31:33Speaker 3: a debrief of like the socials and how it went.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Because because it's also like we're not just like randomly posting,
- 31:40Speaker 3: like there's strategy behind it, there's a time frame, there's
- 31:43Speaker 3: a window, there's like making sure that we're we're mapped.
- 31:47Speaker 3: We're like getting the measured success for the ratings for
- 31:51Speaker 3: socials on TV, Like there's like all these things.
- 31:54Speaker 6: We're playing the game, playing the game.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Well, I mean it works such an amazing thing. It
- 31:59Speaker 1: was incredible the most successful season or yes, I don't
- 32:02Speaker 1: know like successful, but the most ratings.
- 32:05Speaker 3: So basically the ratings have never been this high since
- 32:09Speaker 3: the season finale of Friends.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Oh my god, for.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Any TV crazy stat any TV show, and so like
- 32:16Speaker 3: it was crazy. We uh, I mean back when I
- 32:19Speaker 3: started the show, it was twenty years ago and there
- 32:22Speaker 3: are yeah, almost eighteen years ago for me.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Youngest person.
- 32:25Speaker 4: But when yeah, did I just do that?
- 32:33Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 32:35Speaker 3: But but yeah, so it was successful then, but like
- 32:38Speaker 3: the way that it's now been twenty years later, it's
- 32:41Speaker 3: unheard of. But by the way I was gonna say that,
- 32:43Speaker 3: that's what I love the most is the next day
- 32:46Speaker 3: they will like also kind of make fun of me
- 32:49Speaker 3: in the most like delicious way, Like this is.
- 32:53Speaker 4: What they're saying on TikTok.
- 32:57Speaker 6: Yeah, have like parodies to some of your stuff.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Was so I'm showing like the one dress that looked
- 33:04Speaker 3: like curtains. They were calling it curtains and I was like,
- 33:06Speaker 3: you mean beef curtains. Like we were like, it's just
- 33:09Speaker 3: like it's playful and it's fun. Yeah, you can't take
- 33:13Speaker 3: yourself to serious.
- 33:15Speaker 6: You're good about being self deprecating.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to be the you guys are too.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Yeah, Like if you guys weren't self deprecated in a way.
- 33:22Speaker 4: That made it playful and fun, maybe I would take
- 33:25Speaker 4: it seriously fair, you know what I mean.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Like, it's it's all about the energy that you put
- 33:30Speaker 3: around yourself.
- 33:31Speaker 4: You're only team.
- 33:34Speaker 3: It is otherwise, Like can you imagine if it is
- 33:36Speaker 3: at all, like no straight laced people around me, Well, your.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Day is so intense you need like that's a requirement,
- 33:44Speaker 1: actually you yeah, some like fun.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Also it's not like we're doing anything like that is
- 33:53Speaker 3: so life changing, but it can be because it's how
- 33:57Speaker 3: you make people feel at the end of the day.
- 33:59Speaker 3: So it's like their physical job is in life changing.
- 34:02Speaker 4: We're not you know, like doctors.
- 34:04Speaker 3: But like, but the way you leave people feeling, and
- 34:07Speaker 3: that's not just me, that is my entire team and
- 34:10Speaker 3: that is, Lindsay, that is everybody that I try to
- 34:13Speaker 3: surround myself with.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Are you referring to the contestants on the show when
- 34:17Speaker 1: you're filming?
- 34:18Speaker 3: I know, I mean like my personal team Lindsay Yanna
- 34:23Speaker 3: often like all hair and makeup, anybody that I personally
- 34:27Speaker 3: surround myself that I get to make that choice like
- 34:30Speaker 3: that is a that is a huge deal. I will
- 34:32Speaker 3: say our show is excellent at finding positive, amazing people.
- 34:38Speaker 3: And that's why I think our show blew up this
- 34:40Speaker 3: season is because it's it's the one show that's on
- 34:44Speaker 3: TV that like people aren't trying to like find the negativity.
- 34:48Speaker 4: They're like, joy is working.
- 34:51Speaker 1: People are dancing, and it's just like not, it's not
- 34:54Speaker 1: like Love Island or like, you know, something superficial.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Exactly, yeah, exactly.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I always say it's a transformation show masked in rhinestones
- 35:02Speaker 3: and fringe, but you know, I love that.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:05Speaker 1: How do you guys source contestants for Dancing at the
- 35:07Speaker 1: Stars or is there a do people apply?
- 35:10Speaker 2: I guess is that some question?
- 35:12Speaker 4: Not really.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Dina Katz has been the casting director and executive producer
- 35:15Speaker 3: since the very beginning, and she just has a pulse
- 35:19Speaker 3: on what's happening in the world and who is who
- 35:24Speaker 3: is making headlines and you know, on the rise. Yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 3: and like I think people now over the last couple
- 35:33Speaker 3: of years, they are like pitching themselves, like people want
- 35:37Speaker 3: to be on this show. I gotta DM from like
- 35:40Speaker 3: I can't remember what his name is now, but he's
- 35:43Speaker 3: like an Olympic skateboarder. I would think I was on
- 35:46Speaker 3: Watch What Happens Live with him and so like, I
- 35:49Speaker 3: guess I followed him there.
- 35:51Speaker 4: So he DMed me.
- 35:52Speaker 3: That's how I saw it, and he was like, get
- 35:54Speaker 3: me on Dancing with the Stars, like you should be
- 35:56Speaker 3: on it, and he goes, no for real, and I
- 35:58Speaker 3: was like, oh, okay, I mean, let me put your
- 36:00Speaker 3: name in there.
- 36:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:03Speaker 4: But I was like, oh, that.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Actually is actually like a very good idea. An Olympic
- 36:08Speaker 3: skateboarder who's also like nineteen and just like super cute,
- 36:12Speaker 3: you know, like.
- 36:12Speaker 4: That's a good that's a good call.
- 36:14Speaker 5: But that says so much about We're Dancing with the
- 36:16Speaker 5: Stars is no, oh yeah, because I'd imagined before they
- 36:18Speaker 5: were asking people.
- 36:20Speaker 6: Yeah, people are campaigning and petitioning and.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Dming to be on the show, and that was that's
- 36:25Speaker 5: also a fun piece of this job. Like that was
- 36:28Speaker 5: fun for me to be a part of the season,
- 36:30Speaker 5: like to just jump in and all of a sudden
- 36:31Speaker 5: it was stacked cast. Yeah, like what a cool experience
- 36:35Speaker 5: for me to see. Like yeah, I mean after it all,
- 36:38Speaker 5: you know, every tuesday's go, go go, and then you
- 36:40Speaker 5: get get in your car at night and then you
- 36:42Speaker 5: get home and it's by that point it's airing on
- 36:44Speaker 5: the West coast. Yeah. And it's crazy because I heard
- 36:48Speaker 5: it in the apartment next door to me playing and
- 36:50Speaker 5: I hear her voice, Oh my.
- 36:51Speaker 4: God, this is crazy.
- 36:53Speaker 6: You're like, how cool like this is? This is really cool.
- 36:55Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 36:56Speaker 5: It's like these moments you're like I was just there
- 36:58Speaker 5: live that's Julianne like that.
- 37:00Speaker 6: That's awesome. That's fun.
- 37:02Speaker 3: I actually have a question because you know me, like
- 37:06Speaker 3: me and then like sometimes like when I do get
- 37:10Speaker 3: stopped or whatever, it does it ever? Like because it
- 37:15Speaker 3: makes me feel weird. I'm like, if they knew who
- 37:18Speaker 3: I was, they would not care at all, But like,
- 37:21Speaker 3: but the persona of who I am on TV and
- 37:23Speaker 3: stuff like that, like it kind of does it match.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I don't know what I'm asking.
- 37:28Speaker 6: Are you? I know, what you're asking, and I.
- 37:31Speaker 2: If you're the same in person.
- 37:34Speaker 5: It's like anyone I think people see you in these
- 37:37Speaker 5: ball owns hosting online TV full glam you.
- 37:41Speaker 6: Are, it's a ball in a gown that is a
- 37:45Speaker 6: ball gown.
- 37:48Speaker 5: I've seen you with a cup of coffee in the
- 37:50Speaker 5: morning and your pajamas so like with like my hair. Ye. So,
- 37:55Speaker 5: but I think you can say that about anyone that like,
- 37:57Speaker 5: you know, I just it's it's not weird because we
- 38:01Speaker 5: live in LA and I feel like I'm around a
- 38:04Speaker 5: good amount.
- 38:05Speaker 6: Of people there.
- 38:06Speaker 4: You know it your life.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's actually why I really enjoy Lindsay too,
- 38:12Speaker 3: is because she also has like her friends are also
- 38:16Speaker 3: in the business. Yeah, yes, there's she's there's no there's
- 38:21Speaker 3: there's no which there should never be a hierarchy, but
- 38:24Speaker 3: there there's no hierarchy of like I don't know, like.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Boss fame, you know what I mean, Like, do you
- 38:32Speaker 4: know what I'm trying.
- 38:33Speaker 5: I also never like wanted to work in entertainment, to
- 38:37Speaker 5: work in entertainment exactly, And this is what I think
- 38:39Speaker 5: what you're saying, Like, I actually the reason I wanted
- 38:41Speaker 5: to pivot into this is because I wanted to work
- 38:43Speaker 5: for a brand that was a person like I worked
- 38:47Speaker 5: in fashion as a brand. I worked for a tech
- 38:49Speaker 5: company and I ran brand partnerships. But then to come
- 38:51Speaker 5: here and like you're the brand and that and I'm
- 38:55Speaker 5: like front row seat to that brand and I, you know,
- 38:57Speaker 5: have my hands in every aspect of it. So that
- 39:01Speaker 5: I think coming it from that angle is maybe why
- 39:04Speaker 5: you feel that way.
- 39:04Speaker 3: I think that's kind of what I was saying at
- 39:06Speaker 3: the very beginning too, which is like you are you
- 39:09Speaker 3: came from you know, tech startup fashion and like I
- 39:16Speaker 3: remember I interviewed somebody pre pre Magan Thank you, that
- 39:21Speaker 3: was that I wanted to be an actor, and I
- 39:25Speaker 3: was like.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Absolutely not, like conflict of interest.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Well, it's just like there's always an agenda to want
- 39:32Speaker 3: to do something else.
- 39:34Speaker 5: It's like, yeah, you love you, but don't want to
- 39:36Speaker 5: be Yeah, exact, I have no background in dance by
- 39:40Speaker 5: the way.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Watching five seasons going to be on dancing.
- 39:46Speaker 5: But like then that goes back to your what you started, Megan,
- 39:50Speaker 5: and that's like you're sourcing these people to work for,
- 39:53Speaker 5: people like Julian with the right intentions and for the
- 39:56Speaker 5: right reason.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I think what you said about wanting to work for, like,
- 40:00Speaker 1: have the person be the brand. That's really what you
- 40:01Speaker 1: said to me when you first got me.
- 40:03Speaker 6: You know, you first got in.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Touch, and obviously you knew my best friend Sarah. You
- 40:07Speaker 1: guys grew up together, and I got to know you
- 40:09Speaker 1: so well over the last couple of years, so I
- 40:11Speaker 1: knew what I was there. I was strategic here. But
- 40:13Speaker 1: I also think that we do, unfortunately get a lot
- 40:16Speaker 1: of candidates who are very interested in the celebrity of
- 40:20Speaker 1: it all, which never.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Works out well.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Or I mean, I am very grateful to have so
- 40:25Speaker 1: many resumes come through, but I feel bad for the
- 40:28Speaker 1: candidates actually who are actors and aspiring directors, because we
- 40:33Speaker 1: really don't place them with any of our famous clients
- 40:35Speaker 1: because it gets a little conflicted because I never want
- 40:41Speaker 1: my famous clients to feel like someone's in a room
- 40:45Speaker 1: for the wrong reasons, or you know, trying to make
- 40:48Speaker 1: a connection or email someone behind their Those are the
- 40:51Speaker 1: things I worry about, and they're not totally comfortable with
- 40:54Speaker 1: that either, So it's a bit sticky, but hopefully to
- 40:57Speaker 1: be able to figure out what to do with them.
- 40:59Speaker 4: Yeah, what's been your biggest challenge?
- 41:02Speaker 1: I think placing those people because I want to give
- 41:06Speaker 1: as many people as possible an opportunity, and it's also
- 41:10Speaker 1: the candidates who want to grow up and be directors
- 41:12Speaker 1: and producers. We don't do hiring for production companies quite yet, yeah,
- 41:17Speaker 1: but that is something that we will be dipping into
- 41:19Speaker 1: this year. We just have so many creative resumes that
- 41:23Speaker 1: come through as opposed to the person who just wants
- 41:25Speaker 1: to be an assistant like lindsay and produce someone's life.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Yes, is it easy to sniff out?
- 41:31Speaker 6: Yes?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Like, girl, you could do it now that you've been
- 41:34Speaker 1: in this jobie someone and right away be like absolutely not.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it takes me five seconds. The girls know
- 41:41Speaker 2: how quick I am.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Really And what's the most fulfilling and rewarding party?
- 41:46Speaker 6: You kidding this?
- 41:47Speaker 1: It makes it literally makes me so happy.
- 41:51Speaker 2: It is because now you guys are in each other's
- 41:53Speaker 2: lives and it's a good, healthy thing.
- 41:55Speaker 1: And I'm so happy you also have each other because
- 42:00Speaker 1: since it's so intimate, you know everything that's going on
- 42:03Speaker 1: in her life and vice versa, and that support is
- 42:05Speaker 1: actually really crucial for.
- 42:08Speaker 2: The both of you. I don't know, it's yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 5: I will say, like to go off of that, what's
- 42:12Speaker 5: interesting about this role versus previous ones is like that
- 42:15Speaker 5: that line of church and state of Like I've been
- 42:18Speaker 5: in roles where if you you know, I, I'm pretty
- 42:22Speaker 5: I can be.
- 42:22Speaker 6: An open person. I love I talk about my family
- 42:24Speaker 6: a lot, my friends, and.
- 42:27Speaker 5: Like kind of Jules said, I have a full life,
- 42:29Speaker 5: and I like have built that and I'm proud of it. Yeah,
- 42:32Speaker 5: but in previous roles, I've had managers or CEOs or bosses,
- 42:37Speaker 5: higher ups kind of you know, pry and so I'll
- 42:40Speaker 5: open up and then they judge or it's used against me,
- 42:44Speaker 5: and so then you're like, oh, shoot, okay, I kind
- 42:47Speaker 5: of cross that like line church versus state of you
- 42:49Speaker 5: know what to share. But versus this is so different
- 42:53Speaker 5: because it's actually fun to cross that line because we
- 42:56Speaker 5: can relate on a lot of it. Like again, we
- 42:59Speaker 5: are both wake surfing toge this summer because I was
- 43:01Speaker 5: with my boyfriend's family and she was out with us.
- 43:04Speaker 5: So like, this is different than what I but I
- 43:06Speaker 5: had to learn that.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Does that make sense?
- 43:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, I think you went into it as a
- 43:11Speaker 1: hired professional, not a professional friend.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Which a lot of people switch right off the bat.
- 43:18Speaker 1: But because you went in professionally first, the friendship comes
- 43:21Speaker 1: at a later time, once you sort of have crossed over.
- 43:25Speaker 2: You know, certain moments, or gain more trust.
- 43:28Speaker 6: And totally bonded.
- 43:29Speaker 1: But you have to go in with the first mindset
- 43:32Speaker 1: or else it won't be successful. If you go in
- 43:34Speaker 1: trying to be BFFs right off the bat, it can
- 43:36Speaker 1: be a turn off.
- 43:37Speaker 2: But once you hit that.
- 43:39Speaker 4: You know the threshold.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Yeah, no, totally. I had to learn it turns out,
- 43:42Speaker 5: but I definitely went in a little bit more stiff
- 43:44Speaker 5: because of working for more you know, professional organizations and
- 43:49Speaker 5: more corporate.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Yeah, and that makes sense, but I think it also
- 43:53Speaker 3: like that was probably the right approach because yeah, like
- 43:57Speaker 3: I had an assistant for eight years and she was fantastic.
- 44:01Speaker 3: I remember she was a PA on a movie set
- 44:04Speaker 3: and I just I watched her like I was an
- 44:08Speaker 3: observer and I watched how she clocked things very early on, and.
- 44:14Speaker 4: Like, I didn't need an assistant at the time. I
- 44:16Speaker 4: was a kid.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I don't know what I was doing, but I really
- 44:19Speaker 3: saw her talent and how good she was at her job.
- 44:23Speaker 3: And I was like, are you ever going to come
- 44:26Speaker 3: out to la, you know? And She's like if I
- 44:27Speaker 3: had a job, And I was like.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Was that a request, wink winko.
- 44:31Speaker 3: So I ended up hiring her even though I never
- 44:34Speaker 3: had an assistant before, and she was so good at
- 44:37Speaker 3: her job, and we became friends. But then it really
- 44:41Speaker 3: and she knows this, so I'm not speaking out of turn,
- 44:43Speaker 3: but then it got so codependent that we both got
- 44:47Speaker 3: so codependent that when it was time for us to
- 44:50Speaker 3: actually move on, because that codependency became unhealthy.
- 44:55Speaker 4: That like broke my heart, it broke her heart. It
- 44:58Speaker 4: was really challenge.
- 45:00Speaker 3: And then since that time that I we broke up,
- 45:07Speaker 3: I didn't open up to any person that I was
- 45:11Speaker 3: I worked with again because I was so like, I
- 45:13Speaker 3: grieved that that breakup so much because we were so
- 45:16Speaker 3: close and she was so great at her job, and
- 45:21Speaker 3: so I think I I actually haven't opened up to
- 45:25Speaker 3: anybody yet except for Lindsey and like, and that is like,
- 45:30Speaker 3: but I think it is because I trusted one. You're
- 45:33Speaker 3: so good at what you do, and then you also
- 45:38Speaker 3: are so warm and so kind and allowed for that space,
- 45:41Speaker 3: and I trust I trust me now and I trust
- 45:44Speaker 3: you now that we won't become co dependent.
- 45:47Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, like we're no. You have your own life,
- 45:50Speaker 6: I worked life. We have fun together, but like.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Yeah, there's still a health a boundary like an employee.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Despite how close you guys are, that that lines to
- 46:00Speaker 1: is there and both of you clearly respect it.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Or also be working.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, we really are.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I also think what you both said of having your
- 46:09Speaker 1: own lives is really important, and when the job becomes
- 46:12Speaker 1: your life, that's also when it can go south. And
- 46:14Speaker 1: I think it should be a pre prerequisite with hiring
- 46:19Speaker 1: to make sure that like someone. I also think it's
- 46:22Speaker 1: a green flag if someone is so into their family
- 46:25Speaker 1: and their friends and their activities and like their pobbit
- 46:29Speaker 1: and it's like mentally, well you know all those things.
- 46:31Speaker 1: But it's it's like when the girls are here past
- 46:35Speaker 1: I don't know, past a certain time, I'm.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Like, go enjoy your life, like you guys should.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Go home, Like I know you're going to work, but
- 46:40Speaker 1: I want them to feel like they have a weekend
- 46:45Speaker 1: and can you know, decompress.
- 46:48Speaker 3: It's it's such an interesting I don't even know how
- 46:51Speaker 3: to articulate what I'm about to say, but I'm going
- 46:54Speaker 3: to try because it is for anybody who wants to
- 46:59Speaker 3: be an assistant, Like as you are interviewing the person,
- 47:02Speaker 3: you will be assisting you.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Should also check that they also.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Want to have fun in their life and have friends
- 47:09Speaker 3: in their life, and that they're not constantly working and
- 47:12Speaker 3: that their whole being isn't just about work because that
- 47:17Speaker 3: that also like will bleed into your life too. So
- 47:21Speaker 3: like so that's one, and then I think like knowing
- 47:26Speaker 3: that knowing that it's it's a hard balance because like
- 47:30Speaker 3: I want to know that if something comes up at
- 47:33Speaker 3: eleven PM, I can text you that you're gonna you're
- 47:38Speaker 3: gonna see it. You probably will respond if you're with
- 47:41Speaker 3: your phone, but it's not like an expected.
- 47:45Speaker 4: I'm going to just text you.
- 47:47Speaker 3: At eleven and disregard your your what I mean. Like,
- 47:51Speaker 3: so it's like it's like a weird thing where it's
- 47:54Speaker 3: like really, if I text at you know, two o'clock
- 47:59Speaker 3: in the morning, she's not going to respond, but you
- 48:01Speaker 3: I never do that, but we'll just say ye early
- 48:05Speaker 3: morning or late at night or something like there there
- 48:09Speaker 3: she knows that I'm it must be something that I
- 48:13Speaker 3: really care about and like need some attention on and
- 48:17Speaker 3: she usually shows up. Whereas like that like really really
- 48:21Speaker 3: hard line of black and white. So it's like it's
- 48:23Speaker 3: like this weird malleable thing. But then it's also about
- 48:28Speaker 3: respecting people's.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Space and right and it goes both way, like it.
- 48:32Speaker 4: Totally does well.
- 48:32Speaker 5: I said this to you early on when I first started.
- 48:34Speaker 5: I was like, I'm tight with my family. I'm in
- 48:37Speaker 5: a long distance relationship at the time. I mean, I
- 48:40Speaker 5: just I made it very clear that those are big
- 48:43Speaker 5: pieces of my life.
- 48:44Speaker 6: And my friends who like I have in LA and
- 48:47Speaker 6: I love.
- 48:47Speaker 5: And you know, friends are getting married, I'm at weddings,
- 48:50Speaker 5: and I was like, this fills my cup and I
- 48:52Speaker 5: will do a better job. If I'm a happy person
- 48:55Speaker 5: to support you, aka like to, then you will do better,
- 48:59Speaker 5: Like this whole machine will be way more well oiled
- 49:02Speaker 5: if like you know, I'm not that I'm on vacation
- 49:06Speaker 5: twenty four seven back, but if I can have those
- 49:09Speaker 5: important things in my life, those boxes checked.
- 49:11Speaker 4: But I think that's why we get along too well.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Like I have to go surf, I have to go snowboard,
- 49:16Speaker 3: like I have. Yeah, I started, but I'm obsessed. But
- 49:19Speaker 3: like me, going and doing that makes me more productive
- 49:23Speaker 3: than if I were to be sitting at a computer
- 49:25Speaker 3: staring at it for four hours frozen, which is what
- 49:28Speaker 3: happens you know what I mean, and I.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Would burn out exact way.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm more productive when I have when I'm structuring
- 49:35Speaker 1: my day, dog park work out, totally come and do
- 49:39Speaker 1: like can you run out to go get a manicure
- 49:41Speaker 1: during the week if I need to, Because when I'm
- 49:42Speaker 1: managing my time, well, I'm actually I'm showing.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Up better for my team.
- 49:46Speaker 1: And when I feel like I'm actually taking care of
- 49:48Speaker 1: myself too, So squeezing in a workout or maybe it's
- 49:51Speaker 1: coming in a little bit later so someone on my
- 49:53Speaker 1: team can have their morning.
- 49:55Speaker 6: I think.
- 49:56Speaker 1: I know they're that they're going to be productive, but
- 49:59Speaker 1: it's really to do your stuff too, because then you
- 50:02Speaker 1: can show up better.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Totally.
- 50:03Speaker 5: It's so I have to support myself in order to
- 50:06Speaker 5: support her mask on.
- 50:09Speaker 6: Yes, yes, yes, that's a good way to put a
- 50:12Speaker 6: good analogy.
- 50:14Speaker 2: So it is.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I don't know what day in December it is, but
- 50:17Speaker 1: you guys mentioned earlier having personal and work goals for
- 50:20Speaker 1: the new year.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Is that something you sit.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Down together and do or do talk about or I
- 50:25Speaker 1: want to know them so well?
- 50:27Speaker 3: I think I think that's kind of why I was like, oh,
- 50:30Speaker 3: let's come it up.
- 50:30Speaker 2: On our ear.
- 50:32Speaker 6: Like you know, your review.
- 50:36Speaker 3: So formal, but I think they're yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 3: but I feel like I feel.
- 50:41Speaker 5: Like we do them quarterly informally we can talk about
- 50:46Speaker 5: that stuff a good amount, but maybe we do do informally. Yeah,
- 50:50Speaker 5: But also for you, we had like a big meeting
- 50:53Speaker 5: this past week.
- 50:54Speaker 3: We did this last week more more goals of like
- 50:57Speaker 3: career trajectory and like what what our actual vision and
- 51:02Speaker 3: direction is because I love a lot of things and
- 51:06Speaker 3: I can get very distracted and so talk about like
- 51:10Speaker 3: needing some parameters. When people have direction, it's easy to
- 51:15Speaker 3: be productive, but when it's it's a little floaty, it's hard.
- 51:18Speaker 3: So we've had like sort of trajectory vision goal meetings,
- 51:23Speaker 3: but I think like, yeah, I think like debrief of
- 51:26Speaker 3: the year and like what we're looking forward to next year.
- 51:29Speaker 4: I think we'll probably do that relatively soon.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Yeah, what are you guys looking forward to for twenty
- 51:34Speaker 1: twenty six?
- 51:36Speaker 2: Hmmm, we can do.
- 51:37Speaker 6: A work end personal Yeah.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Work. For me, I feel like.
- 51:44Speaker 3: My confidence kind of was in like a stagnant place
- 51:49Speaker 3: when it came to me as like an entertainer and
- 51:52Speaker 3: a performer and an artist. I think I went into
- 51:56Speaker 3: like hosting and business and you know, Kinergy innovation, and
- 52:01Speaker 3: I went more like cerebral like building versus like expression
- 52:11Speaker 3: kind of yeah. And so so I think that like
- 52:16Speaker 3: confidence kind of went a little stagnant. And I don't
- 52:18Speaker 3: know what happened in the last few months, but I mean,
- 52:21Speaker 3: I think Dancing with the Stars was a big part,
- 52:22Speaker 3: but there was there was some like healing stuff that
- 52:25Speaker 3: I did personally and something just like some worthy news
- 52:29Speaker 3: stuff came out, and I just feel so inspired to
- 52:34Speaker 3: be the entertainer and performer that I am. And so
- 52:37Speaker 3: I think this year, I'm so excited to be really
- 52:41Speaker 3: intentional about making sure those things are actualized. And I
- 52:46Speaker 3: don't just like take a like a seat back, because
- 52:51Speaker 3: this I know I can make happen.
- 52:53Speaker 4: I have to put energy back into it.
- 52:55Speaker 3: And my team knows that now, and like we're going
- 52:58Speaker 3: to be focusing on those hardist performing.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Things.
- 53:04Speaker 3: So that for career for me is what I'm I'm
- 53:07Speaker 3: really looking forward to. And then on the personal side,
- 53:11Speaker 3: love baby, Like I just I think that, like I
- 53:16Speaker 3: I'm really in a great place to give and receive love,
- 53:22Speaker 3: and I don't think I was in that place for
- 53:26Speaker 3: a few years, and so I'm like ready and open
- 53:28Speaker 3: for that.
- 53:29Speaker 2: I'm so excited for you.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Yeah, once you get back to your core and you
- 53:33Speaker 1: start feeling yourself again and loving yourself.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Again and actually believing that you're all these things which
- 53:40Speaker 2: you are.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I'm just really excited for twenty twenty six for you.
- 53:45Speaker 6: What you just said also goes on in hand.
- 53:47Speaker 4: Yeah, like this is totally this is your year.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yeah, the last year was This last year was the
- 53:54Speaker 2: year of baby.
- 53:54Speaker 6: Oh wait it was, and this is a year of
- 53:57Speaker 6: the Yeah.
- 53:58Speaker 3: And by the way, it's so right on because I'm
- 53:59Speaker 3: also so a nine personally and collectively. Everyone is in
- 54:05Speaker 3: a nine year, which is the end of a cycle.
- 54:08Speaker 3: My whole year was about excavation. I cleaned, cleared, sold
- 54:13Speaker 3: my house, like all these things that were just still
- 54:16Speaker 3: connected to this old cycle and paradigm just clearly did.
- 54:20Speaker 8: I really did, to the point I took a mirror,
- 54:22Speaker 8: her closetror and a lamp, a couple of bowls, a
- 54:29Speaker 8: lot of time, our closet so much that like all
- 54:32Speaker 8: she wears is cream, and then she was going to
- 54:33Speaker 8: a bachelorette.
- 54:34Speaker 4: No, it's like girls like I don't have any color.
- 54:38Speaker 4: This girl cannot be that girl.
- 54:42Speaker 2: A lot of good oh so much. I see those creams.
- 54:46Speaker 4: I got Kate black, you know all of it.
- 54:49Speaker 1: You guys are literally wearing the same. It's like, I'm
- 54:55Speaker 1: proud of you for wearing a color.
- 54:56Speaker 4: It's black.
- 54:57Speaker 6: I am always black always.
- 54:59Speaker 4: I love it. But what about you? What are your goals?
- 55:02Speaker 6: My goals?
- 55:02Speaker 5: I think work wise, I think like we collectively me
- 55:08Speaker 5: but we collectively like I think we found our We're
- 55:10Speaker 5: going to find our groove.
- 55:11Speaker 6: I think the first half of the year it was
- 55:15Speaker 6: just kind of.
- 55:15Speaker 5: The warm up for me at least, and to really,
- 55:17Speaker 5: like I say this to you before, like understand the
- 55:18Speaker 5: key players in the game, and now I am confident
- 55:21Speaker 5: I have that down and like the relationships and so
- 55:24Speaker 5: going into twenty twenty six, there's such a solid foundation
- 55:29Speaker 5: versus Slash, and there's no foundation for me that I'm
- 55:32Speaker 5: just excited, Like I believe I say this to you,
- 55:34Speaker 5: but I believe in you so much. And it's fun
- 55:37Speaker 5: to work for someone that's so talented, Like I have
- 55:40Speaker 5: friends that work in the industry, and you know, there's
- 55:43Speaker 5: a bunch of roles you can have as a celebrity,
- 55:48Speaker 5: but she's so talented. So it's it's fun to leave
- 55:51Speaker 5: every day, and like, yeah, I think, just work for
- 55:54Speaker 5: someone that's genuinely.
- 55:56Speaker 6: Seriously, it's really really cool.
- 55:58Speaker 5: There's just more purpose to it, At least for me,
- 56:00Speaker 5: it makes you more motivated your job.
- 56:02Speaker 2: If you believe in.
- 56:03Speaker 1: The person that you're working with and believe in their
- 56:07Speaker 1: goals and share those goals, it just makes you better
- 56:10Speaker 1: at your job.
- 56:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:11Speaker 6: I just like I have faith in this brand. Me too.
- 56:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 56:18Speaker 6: And then personally, I think just kind of fostering all
- 56:24Speaker 6: my relationships.
- 56:25Speaker 5: I like, moved here and didn't really know anyone, and
- 56:27Speaker 5: then when did you move here?
- 56:29Speaker 6: Right before COVID?
- 56:30Speaker 2: Okay, and then I went home.
- 56:32Speaker 5: I went home after COVID or during COVID because I
- 56:35Speaker 5: just didn't want to be alone out here. And then
- 56:36Speaker 5: I came back and just kind of built my life.
- 56:39Speaker 6: But I'm proud of.
- 56:40Speaker 5: What I built out here, fred wise.
- 56:42Speaker 6: And relationship wise.
- 56:44Speaker 5: So just fostering that, I think, like keeping those strong
- 56:48Speaker 5: and it's it's also work, but it's fun for me.
- 56:51Speaker 6: I get so much from that. It's cool.
- 56:53Speaker 2: You have a very fun job. Thanks, very fun boss.
- 56:56Speaker 6: I know I'm lucky.
- 56:58Speaker 1: I guess my last questions while I have you gals
- 57:02Speaker 1: before we eat, because I am very hungry. What advice
- 57:05Speaker 1: would you give someone who wants to grow up and
- 57:07Speaker 1: be a Jewels or wants to grow.
- 57:09Speaker 3: Up and be a Lindsay, my goodness, I would say,
- 57:17Speaker 3: I didn't understand the value of mentors, and I always
- 57:25Speaker 3: felt like I had to do everything on my own,
- 57:28Speaker 3: and that could not be further from the truth of Like, obviously,
- 57:34Speaker 3: choose the right.
- 57:35Speaker 4: People to surround yourself with.
- 57:37Speaker 3: And the only way you can do that is by
- 57:39Speaker 3: being hungry enough to learn and understand and know who
- 57:43Speaker 3: you are and know what motivates you and drives you
- 57:48Speaker 3: and what inspires you. But I would say, like, put
- 57:53Speaker 3: yourself in proximity with people that you want to be around,
- 57:57Speaker 3: that you look up to, ask questions, be curious. You
- 58:04Speaker 3: know there people there are certain models of certain careers.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Take one that you admire and learn how they did.
- 58:13Speaker 3: It doesn't mean that you're going.
- 58:14Speaker 4: To be them.
- 58:16Speaker 3: You are your own, unique, individual superstar. But there usually
- 58:21Speaker 3: is a bit of a pathway and just to get started,
- 58:25Speaker 3: like just see how they started, you know what I mean,
- 58:28Speaker 3: And like, there's that's one way if you don't, if
- 58:32Speaker 3: you really like don't know how to start. The other
- 58:34Speaker 3: way is like just balls to the walls. You know,
- 58:37Speaker 3: like believe in yourself and like have that little bit
- 58:42Speaker 3: of delusion of anything as possible and like put it
- 58:47Speaker 3: out there, believe in it.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Go but again, put yourself in proximity.
- 58:51Speaker 3: So like if you're living in Nebraska, like move to
- 58:54Speaker 3: wherever you need to move to, you know, put yourself
- 58:57Speaker 3: in the mix. And it's also like put your yourself
- 59:00Speaker 3: out there. It's like in a relationship, put yourself out there.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Try not to be like desperate and then try to
- 59:06Speaker 3: will it. But just like put yourself out there, heart open,
- 59:10Speaker 3: like ready to go, and like be in a great
- 59:14Speaker 3: state of again, anything is possible, gratitude, look up, see
- 59:19Speaker 3: the beauty, live your life and and like magnetize it.
- 59:24Speaker 3: You know, Like I know that that sounds super woo
- 59:26Speaker 3: woo hippity dippity, but like there's a reason, there's a
- 59:30Speaker 3: reason people are. Like, man, the stars just felt aligned
- 59:34Speaker 3: when I came here, and that they did for me.
- 59:36Speaker 4: I had a lot of preparation.
- 59:38Speaker 3: So obviously, whatever your talent is, like work hard and
- 59:41Speaker 3: skill and work on your craft. But then like open
- 59:45Speaker 3: your palms, don't have a tight grip, open your poms,
- 59:48Speaker 3: come out here, trust and know that like you are worthy,
- 59:52Speaker 3: you are unique, and.
- 59:53Speaker 4: Just put yourself in proximity. Yeah, I love that.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Manifestation is real.
- 59:58Speaker 4: It really is just starts and you.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Believe in yourself.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Yeah, and like get away from like don't just sit
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: behind a screen like physically, like yeah, move and get there.
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: I think that's just what's hard nowadays.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: I would say my answer for that, just to hone
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: in on one thing specific is she.
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: Said it, but be curious.
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: I am, by nature a curious person, but that doesn't
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: she knows everything.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: But but this is because she asks so many questions.
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: It's questions. I listen to a lot of podcasts.
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: I read a lot of articles, like I follow certain
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: Instagram accounts that will give me that information. So I'm
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: always surrounding myself with things that, yeah, feed me information.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: So I know things and that actually has helped me.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Literally, we we it's our joke. We're like, Lindsay knows everything?
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: How do you know everything? It's my greatest Will.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: You send me those accounts that you find.
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: But it's also like it's just asking people about them
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: or you know, you.
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: Learn so much when you listen, So just go and
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: listen and I asked, you know, you got no conversation.
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: You ask one question, it sparwls into conversation.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: You talked about Jesse Itzler.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: Yeah, we're now DM best friends on Instagram because she
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: was curious about this person. She does this like hike
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: that he's set together or whatever. But because she talked
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: about him, I started following him. Now we're friends. Now
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: we're probably gonna work together on something and.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: We're going to like that all.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Came through her curiosity and her knowledge of somebody.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: You know what I mean, It just thinks I'm passionate
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: about it's really but it's it's brands, it's people in
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: the industry, it's and it's yeah, I mean it's It
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: wasn't honestly, it wasn't like.
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: It wasn't like I'm studying for this job. It wasn't intentional.
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: It just is what I like and falls in line with.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: So when we're in certain rooms, I know who certain
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: people are, when they're's events, I know certain brands for
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: what she should wear.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: Or it feels very double Worris protest sometimes.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: When like will literally be like that's that person, and
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my gosh.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: But that's important.
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: Yeah, so no, no, it's paid off totally.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: It's so important.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: So many of my clients are like, I'm like, how's
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: it going with your assistant, And one in particular, it
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: was like, it was great. We went to an event
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: and I didn't know anyone at my table and she
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: prepped me before and I you.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Know, yeah a lot.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: I have like a mental face sheet that the house
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: christ I forget and it.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: Was it's a dark gift I have.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: It's not a dark gift.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: I'm not proud of this gift.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: But but no, you knew who they were, and then
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: it was we were Yeah, I'm.
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: Like, so there from Utah.
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: They're gonna come over to you and talk to you
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: about Utah because you're from Utah.
- 1:02:45Speaker 6: And she's like mm hmm. And guess what happened.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: It was fantastic.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Apparently that was the craziest season, right.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: Yeah. I would just say be curious, like be a sponge,
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: because again, you only you're only gonna learn like just talking.
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: Yeah, that's really good advice.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: What's your advice?
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Go do every dinner you're invited to.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: There's been so many times as a female founder that
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: people invite me to these women's dinners. Yeah, summer on
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Monday nights. And I told the story in another episode.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I went to a dinner on a Monday night. I
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: was super exhausted and I got seated next to ty
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Sa Glorious, who is now one.
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: Of my mentors.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Yes, I adore her, and if I didn't show up
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: to that dinner, I would have never met her, and
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: she is in my life in a huge way.
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: Now, amazing. I'll that dinner so amazing.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: I love that.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: It's a good one. Right on.
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: They're hard Monday nights. You just want to know it
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: was tough. They're on the sweats.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I think it was raining too, and I really didn't
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: want to go.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: But now I have tie, so that's very grateful. That's
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: very cool.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Okay, I told sometimes we do like a prank phone
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: call at the end. We don't need to, but like,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: if you guys have anyone in mind that you would
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: want to prank, we.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Could do that.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Whoa kind of I really want you to call into
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: your Liverpool accent to who that's her Liverpool?
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: Just do it now?
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, guys, yeah, blood brothers. It was a It
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: was a Liverpudlian play that I saw it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: I was like ten years old. Are you right? You ready?
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: I'm so ready.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: All right, I'm gonna turn this way.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: This is better than a prank phone call.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: It is, and I'm gonna I wish I was Al Sammy.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Al Sammy's nearly ten. He built two whims with a
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: catapult and built his under the ground den My mom says,
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: I'm not allowed to go there.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: I have to send Nere the gate. She says it's
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: because I'm only seven, but him not. I'm nearly eight.
