Latest / In the Loop AI / Nano Banana and ChatGPT Group Chats Will Change How We Use AI
Transcript
- 0:00Ejaaz: Now, you've all heard of ChatGPT. At some point, everyone's used an AI chatbot now.
- 0:04Ejaaz: But what if I told you this week, not one, but two brand new AI tools just dropped
- 0:09Ejaaz: that will change the way you interact with AI on a daily basis?
- 0:13Ejaaz: The first was released by OpenAI called Group Chats, which, in my opinion,
- 0:17Ejaaz: is going to kill iMessage. It's going to change text and group messaging forever.
- 0:20Ejaaz: And the second is called NanoBanana Pro, released by none other than Google
- 0:24Ejaaz: themselves, their new text-to-image generation model powered by the almighty
- 0:29Ejaaz: and all-powerful Gemini Pro 3.
- 0:32Ejaaz: There's so much to unpack with these tools, so I want to get right into it.
- 0:35Ejaaz: But Josh, I haven't seen you in a while.
- 0:38Ejaaz: For context of the listeners, Josh and I have been traveling this entire week,
- 0:41Ejaaz: so I haven't caught up with Josh. Josh, like, what's been going on?
- 0:44Josh: I've had a really, really good week. A huge week in my life. Very exciting times.
- 0:48Josh: I think it's probably time to share with the audience kind of like what's been
- 0:51Josh: going on more behind the scenes in my personal life, if that's cool with you.
- 0:54Josh: I shared a few photos, but if you don't mind, us walking through them.
- 0:56Josh: Okay yeah yeah yeah so um yeah married married this weekend which was really
- 1:01Josh: exciting yeah you just i'm not sure if you knew that i am friends with quite
- 1:04Josh: a few celebrities um beyonce tom cruise,
- 1:08Josh: um josh what the hell yeah is that kendall.
- 1:11Ejaaz: Jenner are you
- 1:12Josh: Going to congratulate me or are you just going to stare wait.
- 1:14Ejaaz: Dude i'm just looking through these pics
- 1:18Josh: There's another one yeah down the aisle okay
- 1:21Josh: it's a very beautiful wedding very grateful to have people like beyonce around
- 1:24Josh: with me leo dicaprio you know all the homies oh you're
- 1:27Josh: skipping too far ahead man it's the after party i mean the after
- 1:30Josh: party was great was in good company we had uh we had elon sundar
- 1:33Josh: tim cook all you know all of the homies they
- 1:36Josh: were all just kind of hanging out afterwards talking shop talking about the future
- 1:39Josh: of AI and then honeymoon afterwards which was pretty
- 1:42Josh: eventful I really enjoyed yeah I went to
- 1:45Josh: the beach well you had a good time undisclosed location you know when you roll
- 1:49Josh: with high high people like that you can't really talk about what you're doing
- 1:51Josh: but also just kidding this is all AI because there's the photo with Elon as
- 1:56Josh: well and this is just like so while we were preparing for this episode I was
- 1:59Josh: like well let's just try to use nano banana and come up with some dumb, funny stuff.
- 2:03Josh: And it works so well. This is a fully AI generated version. Granted,
- 2:06Josh: they gave Elon probably a couple more packs on his gut than he really has in person.
- 2:11Josh: It looks great. And it's a testament to...
- 2:14Josh: Not to scale. It's a testament to how amazing these new AI image generation
- 2:18Josh: models are. They are fantastic.
- 2:21Josh: This is the official announcement released from Sundar. Nano Banana Pro is out.
- 2:25Josh: The images you just saw earlier, those are all done with a single prompt in Nano Banana.
- 2:29Josh: We mentioned it in the roundup last week, but I figured it would be good to
- 2:31Josh: have an episode about this and
- 2:33Josh: the group chats because there's a lot more than I think we spoke about.
- 2:35Josh: And as I've used it more, I've started to learn a lot more about the capabilities
- 2:38Josh: and it is blowing my mind across the spectrum.
- 2:41Josh: One of the things that's unique to the new model is that it's really good at
- 2:45Josh: understanding diagrams for some reason. Diagrams is the hot new use case.
- 2:49Josh: So we have a lot of examples that we could walk through. One of them is with Notebook LM.
- 2:53Josh: This is Google's AI tool that integrates with Nano Banana. And it shows an infographic
- 2:58Josh: to a book. So this is an author who posted this.
- 3:01Josh: And the author has a story that he tells through the book.
- 3:04Josh: So what Notebook does, it ingests the content of the book,
- 3:07Josh: turns it into a visual graphic and then
- 3:10Josh: plots all of the plot like the plot elements and
- 3:14Josh: the characters and the the context all onto a map so you could kind of see how
- 3:18Josh: the book is visually and yeah you could keep going through these examples and
- 3:22Josh: if you're not listening i highly suggest going to spotify or youtube watching
- 3:25Josh: this because the examples are are pretty incredible these are cool yeah you
- 3:30Josh: just have you had a chance to play around with this at all the new i i.
- 3:33Ejaaz: Actually haven't so this dropped what like three days
- 3:36Ejaaz: ago now josh very recently i haven't i've been able to get around to it but
- 3:40Ejaaz: i have to say like i i'm comparing this my other checkpoint was with nano banana
- 3:46Ejaaz: version one and this is just so much better i mean the fidelity on these things
- 3:50Ejaaz: the intricacies of these diagrams like i wish i had these
- 3:54Ejaaz: Like the way my mind jumps right now is like, I wish I had these back at school
- 3:57Ejaaz: or like high school or college. Yeah.
- 3:59Ejaaz: Because this would help me learn things in so many different ways. This is awesome.
- 4:03Josh: Wow. It's cool. And if you have a book that you like, you can just upload the
- 4:06Josh: book and it will create a full visual diagram, plot line, the whole thing of the book.
- 4:10Josh: And it doesn't stop there. There's an example that I saw that I loved,
- 4:12Josh: which was for LinkedIn, people who are looking for jobs, people who want to
- 4:15Josh: kind of show their career path.
- 4:18Josh: This is an infographic trend where you can upload your LinkedIn to Nano Banana
- 4:22Josh: and it will create a career path for you. In whatever theme that you want.
- 4:25Ejaaz: It's already a better product than LinkedIn, Josh.
- 4:27Josh: Oh, yeah, right. How cool is this? So what you're seeing on screen here is like,
- 4:30Josh: okay, the person started maybe in high school or college.
- 4:32Josh: It shows the railroad track, how they're going through their career.
- 4:35Josh: It looks like they're at Google from 2009 to the present.
- 4:38Josh: And you could really, you could see in a very fun visual way,
- 4:41Josh: all the accomplishments they've done, their kind of journey through their career.
- 4:44Josh: It's really, really cool.
- 4:46Josh: And in a way, this is a much more exciting LinkedIn resume. And I think it's
- 4:50Josh: probably a testament to the new creative unlocks that we'll see as people start
- 4:54Josh: to learn more about Nano Banana and understand how it works.
- 4:56Josh: Just like how impressively fun it can be across the spectrum.
- 5:01Josh: If you're looking for a job, this is a great way to stand out.
- 5:03Ejaaz: Josh, what about this? This is insane. So for those of you who are listening,
- 5:08Ejaaz: these are all of Josh's friends who, funnily enough, turned up to his fake wedding.
- 5:12Ejaaz: I'm actually upset that you aren't actually with Kendall Jenner because you
- 5:15Ejaaz: guys are such a great couple in that image.
- 5:18Ejaaz: I'm sure many people are gonna give that a go but right now i'm staring at an
- 5:22Ejaaz: image of a bunch of celebrities
- 5:26Ejaaz: on the rooftop of what looks to be some kind of penthouse apartment building
- 5:29Ejaaz: and we have iron man we've got tony stark we've got wolf of wall street leo
- 5:34Ejaaz: dicaprio we've got zendaya in in the spider man costume what happened to tom
- 5:38Ejaaz: holland we've got um beyonce j-lo so many people what is going on here you know what it is josh um
- 5:45Ejaaz: It's so like strikingly accurate. It's way more accurate. It's less fake.
- 5:50Ejaaz: Like I'm looking at these and I'm like, you know what? If I was looking at this
- 5:53Ejaaz: from afar, this would be totally convincing if this was posted on social media.
- 5:59Josh: And this is a one-shot prompt too. This was one prompt. It didn't even list
- 6:02Josh: the celebrities. It just asked for celebrities and it gave them all of these.
- 6:06Josh: I think one of the fun things that we're starting to see with image generation
- 6:09Josh: models is the ability to use people.
- 6:11Josh: A lot of these examples, they use actual faces, actual people.
- 6:14Josh: And previously that hasn't really been possible in these image gen models.
- 6:18Josh: So they're slowly lowering the threshold of what's acceptable,
- 6:23Josh: or I guess slowly raising the threshold of what's acceptable in terms of what
- 6:26Josh: types of content you could create using these models.
- 6:28Josh: And I guess eventually it poses some questions. You said the scary word copyright
- 6:33Josh: or trademark or likeness.
- 6:36Josh: As you can start to use these more and more with more accuracy,
- 6:39Josh: it does feel like a bit of a slippery slope, but I'm loving it because it's
- 6:44Josh: just so much fun to play around with.
- 6:45Ejaaz: So if you remember when Sora 2, which is OpenAI's text-to-video app,
- 6:52Ejaaz: so it's like TikTok, but AI-generated videos, when it first launched,
- 6:56Ejaaz: it was using celebrity media to create a bunch of cameos.
- 6:59Ejaaz: Do you remember this? I was looking at Jake Paul. I was looking at Tom Cruise.
- 7:02Ejaaz: I was looking at a bunch of these celebrities that were looking on our screen
- 7:04Ejaaz: right now in a video with me or with my friends. And I was like,
- 7:07Ejaaz: whoa, this is strikingly realistic.
- 7:09Ejaaz: This is super cool. But eventually they started disabling a bunch of the abilities
- 7:14Ejaaz: to cameo with those celebrities because of the copyright things.
- 7:17Ejaaz: I'm now wondering how Google is able to kind of pull this off,
- 7:21Ejaaz: right? Because I can imagine that some of these celebrities in this picture
- 7:24Ejaaz: will be fine with doing that.
- 7:25Ejaaz: But other celebrities probably would hate that.
- 7:28Ejaaz: So I'm curious how they're going to tread that line as to what's legal and what's illegal here.
- 7:32Josh: I really hope they keep their foot on the gas because I'm enjoying this.
- 7:35Josh: But EJ, you also mentioned education, learning as ways to learn.
- 7:39Josh: There are tons of educational tools here. This one being one of my favorites.
- 7:43Josh: The post says, until a few hours ago, creating this kind of scientific image
- 7:46Josh: would have required at least an hour of professional work.
- 7:49Josh: Now with Nano Banana Pro, it takes a simple prompt and less than 30 seconds.
- 7:53Josh: The prompt was described in an illustration the events for a psiotoxic T cell
- 7:57Josh: recognizing and killing a cancer cell.
- 7:59Josh: And it created this beautiful graphic that very clearly shows how a cell can kill a cancer cell.
- 8:05Josh: And I think it's just this really big unlock where particularly if you're a visual learner,
- 8:09Josh: you could ask the model to describe to you basically anything you want and it
- 8:13Josh: can create these educational visual graphics that used to be only available
- 8:16Josh: to people in textbooks and limited in scope to whatever the textbook was talking about.
- 8:21Josh: This on the other hand does not. It's fully open-ended and yeah,
- 8:25Josh: this is another example here.
- 8:25Josh: So on the screen, we're seeing this kind of diagram that shows a horse's mouth and the teeth.
- 8:30Josh: And apparently, this is what I just learned today, is that you can determine
- 8:34Josh: a horse's age by its teeth.
- 8:36Josh: And in a single prompt, it was able to generate a visual guide that shows you
- 8:40Josh: on a spectrum how old the horse would be based on what the teeth look like.
- 8:44Josh: And I find this so fascinating and so useful because if there's anything you
- 8:48Josh: ever wanna learn about, not only can you do it, but you can get a completely
- 8:52Josh: high fidelity, high accuracy visual graphic on anything and then share that with the world.
- 8:57Josh: So I imagine marketplaces for this could hopefully show up where textbooks now
- 9:01Josh: are much more accessible. Visual graphics are much more accessible.
- 9:04Josh: Art in general is much more accessible, but just learning and being able to
- 9:07Josh: have this visual companion tool is so cool.
- 9:10Josh: So Nano Banana Pro, again, this is just like the onion that keeps getting peeled
- 9:13Josh: back. There are so many layers to what it's capable of.
- 9:16Josh: And as we go, we'll just continue to find more. And I'm loving playing around with it.
- 9:20Ejaaz: Yeah, I mean, being such a visual learner myself, I could have really used and
- 9:25Ejaaz: will continue to use something like this going forwards when I learn any brand new concept.
- 9:30Ejaaz: Like when I was if I go back to the tweet where it's like showing how this T
- 9:35Ejaaz: cell kills a cancer cell.
- 9:37Ejaaz: I've read so many paragraphs in my grade school literature books,
- 9:42Ejaaz: science books explaining how this works. But if I had this kind of like clear,
- 9:46Ejaaz: succinct image for every single concept that I didn't understand,
- 9:48Ejaaz: I'd probably have done a lot, lot better.
- 9:51Ejaaz: So this is super cool. I'm excited about how this kind of like changes performance
- 9:54Ejaaz: for kids growing up with AI.
- 9:56Ejaaz: It's kind of weird to think that like now any kid being born today will not
- 10:01Ejaaz: know what it was like to grow up without having AI as a tool to kind of help them learn things.
- 10:06Ejaaz: So this is like really game changing stuff. You may not see it immediately in
- 10:10Ejaaz: front of you on TikTok, on social media, but you will see it in the realms of education,
- 10:15Ejaaz: kind of work progress, and kind of like building each other's careers up,
- 10:19Ejaaz: you know, to reference the example that you used earlier on in their lives. So this is super cool.
- 10:25Ejaaz: Josh, how do I get access to something like this?
- 10:29Ejaaz: I'm seeing, you know, Google AI Ultra subscribers get access,
- 10:32Ejaaz: but is that all? Are there other ways to do this?
- 10:35Josh: So if you're a pro subscriber, you get access to it for $20 a month.
- 10:38Josh: And what we're seeing here on this post actually is the next
- 10:41Josh: extension of nano banana pro because if you're
- 10:44Josh: an ultra subscriber and you use the google flow studio you can
- 10:47Josh: actually turn these images into videos and all
- 10:50Josh: the fun images that we just saw created earlier in the day and if
- 10:53Josh: you scroll down a little bit you can see you could generate actual movies
- 10:56Josh: with them so none of this stuff that you're seeing on
- 10:59Josh: screen is real um it was all generated with an image and then the image was
- 11:03Josh: animated so if you want to do like if I wanted to walk down the aisle per se
- 11:08Josh: I can generate the aisle image and then have myself walk down the aisle or go
- 11:11Josh: swimming in the ocean or whatever it may be because again it has all the image
- 11:15Josh: physics real world simulation stuff and I think,
- 11:19Josh: What we're seeing is this natural progression between image generation to video
- 11:22Josh: generation to 3D modeling to like virtual worlds.
- 11:25Josh: And it very much feels like there's a clear trend here. And that's Nano Banana.
- 11:29Josh: There's so much fun to be had there. You can make some images,
- 11:32Josh: you can animate the images, turn them into movies, graphics,
- 11:34Josh: videos, whatever you want.
- 11:36Josh: The options are limitless. And this really feels like one of the first times in the world of visuals.
- 11:42Josh: Oh yeah, they really messed up my face there.
- 11:44Ejaaz: Man. I can't get over this image. Dude, they messed up your face.
- 11:46Ejaaz: They messed up your face. Everything else is nailed.
- 11:48Josh: They're missing a few apps on the bottom. They could have refined a little bit more.
- 11:52Ejaaz: I think so. Listen, Kendall, if you're listening to this, I already know you're
- 11:56Ejaaz: listening to this. You look beautiful. We're not hating on you.
- 11:59Ejaaz: Feel free to reach out to the podcast if you want to feature on it.
- 12:01Josh: Or me if you just want to call me.
- 12:03Ejaaz: Yep, yep, yep. If you want to make this a reality, we're all about manifesting realities here.
- 12:07Ejaaz: What a crazy tool. I think like aside from social media, this is going to be
- 12:11Ejaaz: used for so many other wonderful things.
- 12:12Ejaaz: I think people see a tool like this, Josh, and they're kind of like, oh, who cares?
- 12:16Ejaaz: A bunch of fake social media misinformation that their minds kind of jump to the negative sense.
- 12:20Ejaaz: But I think this is going to be used for a lot of positive good,
- 12:23Ejaaz: including manifesting who we're going to marry.
- 12:25Josh: So let's get that going. As always, it's a tool. It cuts both ways.
- 12:28Josh: But that is not the only cool tool today, EJ. We got another one from OpenAI.
- 12:31Ejaaz: Right. Enter my realm. This is the tool I'm most pumped about, Josh.
- 12:36Ejaaz: I've been waiting for this for a while because ever since ChatGPT got released,
- 12:39Ejaaz: my number one request, aside from memory, was...
- 12:43Ejaaz: Can I share these conversations with my friends? Can I have these AI discussions with my friends?
- 12:50Ejaaz: And finally, this week, OpenAI announced a feature called Group Chats,
- 12:55Ejaaz: which basically allows you to have the same chat GPT conversation that you guys
- 12:59Ejaaz: have every day, but invite your friends to collaborate on it.
- 13:02Ejaaz: Now, before we go any further, I need to give you guys a breakdown as to what the hell this thing is.
- 13:07Ejaaz: So it's basically, it's a new experience that will make it easy for people to
- 13:12Ejaaz: collaborate with each other. and ChatGPT.
- 13:14Ejaaz: So there's two main key features.
- 13:16Ejaaz: Key feature number one is collaborating with your friends and family.
- 13:20Ejaaz: So the idea is to bring ChatGPT into the same conversation that you're having
- 13:24Ejaaz: in your text messages, in your iMessages, wherever you text with your friends and your family.
- 13:29Ejaaz: So some examples of what you can do having ChatGPT in this message context would
- 13:33Ejaaz: be things like planning trips.
- 13:35Ejaaz: So let's say you're planning a weekend trip and you're talking to friends.
- 13:38Ejaaz: You can create a group chat and add ChatGPT to it.
- 13:41Ejaaz: And it kind of listens to everything that is said, it can kind of suggest destinations,
- 13:44Ejaaz: kind of rule out other options, and stuff like that.
- 13:47Ejaaz: But there are also other forms of stuff that you can do with it, Josh.
- 13:50Ejaaz: One example is hands on work, which honestly, I could use or benefit a lot from
- 13:55Ejaaz: this, which is projects like designing a backyard garden.
- 13:58Ejaaz: I have a terrace that is currently unadorned with furniture.
- 14:01Ejaaz: And I'm like, how the hell do I figure out what this looks like,
- 14:05Ejaaz: I can just take a picture, put it in a group chat with my girlfriend.
- 14:08Ejaaz: And I can discuss kind of like what kinds of furniture preferences we like,
- 14:11Ejaaz: where we want to put furniture, what kind of size dimensions,
- 14:13Ejaaz: where should we order it from? How long is it going to take?
- 14:15Ejaaz: Stuff like that. And AI can just kind of like outsource. I can outsource all of that to ChatGPT.
- 14:20Ejaaz: And the final part, Josh, I don't know if you have any siblings.
- 14:24Ejaaz: I have a sister. We argue all the time about a bunch of decisions that we're
- 14:28Ejaaz: going to do for the family.
- 14:29Ejaaz: Group decisions. I can now add ChatGPT and prove to her that I'm right about
- 14:34Ejaaz: most things here, right?
- 14:35Ejaaz: But all jokes aside, I think this is a really cool feature in the sense that
- 14:40Ejaaz: it's going to help people in general be way more productive.
- 14:44Ejaaz: And the way I kind of look at it is rather than me kind of like having this
- 14:48Ejaaz: siloed app that I use that I speak and communicate with different people and
- 14:53Ejaaz: then going to ChatGPT to kind of fact check things, this should all be one thing completely.
- 14:58Ejaaz: And so I'm all for this. And I think it's a really smart move from OpenAI because
- 15:01Ejaaz: they're just going to get so much more data on everyone's behavioral habits,
- 15:07Ejaaz: which is going to lead to just better products coming out of them.
- 15:09Ejaaz: I mean, there's a reason why you and I keep using OpenAI products.
- 15:12Ejaaz: It's because they've tied that bow on the product loop so well.
- 15:15Ejaaz: And this is just another example.
- 15:16Josh: Oh, what a great growth hack. I really, I really believe that Meta probably
- 15:21Josh: envies this strongly because they have the whole community, they have the ecosystem,
- 15:24Josh: They just never paired them together.
- 15:26Josh: And what an amazing growth hack because so much of the conversation that doesn't
- 15:30Josh: happen on social media, it happens in group chats.
- 15:33Josh: Group chats are the biggest way that people really communicate.
- 15:35Josh: And by integrating AI into that, it's such a powerful unlock.
- 15:38Josh: And for people who aren't familiar, previously, if you wanted to share a conversation
- 15:42Josh: that you had in chat GPT with a friend, you had to share the whole conversation that you had.
- 15:46Josh: And then they could open it up and they can fork it and they could create their
- 15:49Josh: own conversation from it. But it wasn't a very collaborative thing.
- 15:52Josh: It was very one-sided, read-only.
- 15:54Josh: This bakes it into the entire process. So if you have friends who all have ChatGPT,
- 15:59Josh: because now there's probably a billion weekly active users.
- 16:01Josh: So my guess is at least a couple of them already have it. You just add them to the app.
- 16:06Josh: You guys can chat. You have the best assistant in the world.
- 16:08Josh: I assume there's going to be a world in which it can collect multiple email
- 16:13Josh: addresses, calendars, sync up events that you want to do, check when everyone's
- 16:17Josh: free without sharing when everyone's free and create times that everyone can hang out.
- 16:20Josh: There's just this hugely powerful unlock that happens as group chats evolve in ChatGPT.
- 16:26Josh: And as I'm going through this, I'm like, okay, well, Meta should have done this.
- 16:30Josh: Apple should have done this.
- 16:33Josh: Google i don't know if google could have done it but those are the top two but
- 16:36Josh: it just leaves me like man this was this was low-hanging fruit and again like
- 16:39Josh: you said ejaz another product with another viral loop that will get open ai
- 16:42Josh: and chat gpt way more users way
- 16:45Josh: more stickiness just continuing to pile on the value into this app yeah.
- 16:49Ejaaz: I couldn't agree more they're just like that they're hitting repeated home runs
- 16:52Ejaaz: out the park um the if you're wondering you know how the hell do you get access
- 16:56Ejaaz: to this it's available to you right now free pro uh premium whatever all the
- 17:01Ejaaz: plans are, you have access to it.
- 17:03Ejaaz: Simply go to any conversation that you've started with ChatGPT and on the top
- 17:07Ejaaz: right hand side, you're going to see a people icon with a plus sign.
- 17:11Ejaaz: If you tap that, you'll get a shareable link that you can share with up to 20
- 17:15Ejaaz: friends or you can invite up to 20 friends to your conversation.
- 17:18Ejaaz: And what it does is it creates a copy of that conversation into another version of that conversation.
- 17:24Ejaaz: It's like one-to-one, but you have a private version where you've started that
- 17:28Ejaaz: conversation, then you have the other one where it has all your friends.
- 17:30Ejaaz: And it separates the information between the two.
- 17:33Ejaaz: So I can imagine some of the worries that people have is like,
- 17:36Ejaaz: well, I have a lot of personal information that I've shared with ChatGPT that
- 17:39Ejaaz: I don't want my friends to know about.
- 17:41Ejaaz: So is it going to share certain memories that it has about me with my friends?
- 17:45Ejaaz: It's complete privacy. These are two separate databases. This is just to help
- 17:50Ejaaz: you kind of interact with your friends more and create something cool.
- 17:53Ejaaz: Josh, another really cool part about this that I haven't seen too many people
- 17:57Ejaaz: talk about is in order to enable this feature,
- 18:01Ejaaz: the OpenAI team built some very specific social behaviors for ChatGPT to interact
- 18:09Ejaaz: with people in the group chat.
- 18:12Ejaaz: So I'll give you an example. So typically, it's been taught to just,
- 18:16Ejaaz: you know, kind of keep quiet, don't interrupt too much.
- 18:19Ejaaz: It interrupts only when it thinks it can have a useful kind of suggestion,
- 18:23Ejaaz: or when it's kind of like prompted.
- 18:25Ejaaz: So you can add ChatGPT in any kind of response that you have to your friends
- 18:30Ejaaz: to kind of prompt it to say something.
- 18:32Ejaaz: But otherwise, it might just kind of like, but in here and there.
- 18:36Ejaaz: Another really cool thing, Josh, is that it emoji reacts to people's messages,
- 18:40Ejaaz: just like a real person would. So if it kind of like agrees with you,
- 18:43Ejaaz: if it agrees with you, but it doesn't necessarily want to be like,
- 18:46Ejaaz: hey, Josh, that's a fantastic suggestion, just gives you a thumbs up or might give you a winky face.
- 18:50Ejaaz: I don't I don't know, but it kind of interacts like a real human being.
- 18:54Ejaaz: You can kind of tweak its personality depending and it evolves with the group conversation.
- 18:59Ejaaz: Let's say, you know, it's a group chat with the boys and it's a bit more banterist.
- 19:02Ejaaz: It'll kind of adjust to that versus if it's kind of like a more kind of like
- 19:05Ejaaz: tame thing with the family, it'll adjust to that. It'll be more respectful.
- 19:09Ejaaz: It also has access to your profile and your profile pictures.
- 19:13Ejaaz: So let's say you want to say, hey, guys, it's Christmas time.
- 19:17Ejaaz: We're planning a big party.
- 19:19Ejaaz: I can't wait for this, guys. I'm so excited. Christmas is my favorite holiday ever.
- 19:23Ejaaz: You know, you might wake up the next day with the Josh profile picture with
- 19:27Ejaaz: a Santa Claus hat or Ejaz wearing an elf costume.
- 19:29Ejaaz: You know, it has fun. It has this personable kind of like friend,
- 19:34Ejaaz: but it's not really real kind of vibe going about it, which I thought was,
- 19:38Ejaaz: again, to tie in the product group, very good at kind of getting people to be
- 19:42Ejaaz: at ease with AI and give up their information.
- 19:44Josh: Yeah. It's a lot of data too, man. Like the amount of extra personal data you'll
- 19:49Josh: collect on and everybody is massive. And you could start to create this network.
- 19:53Josh: Like they're starting to build an actual social network where you can get these
- 19:56Josh: nodes on a graph. You could see how they relate to each other,
- 19:57Josh: who talks to who about what.
- 19:59Josh: I'm curious what role that played in the decision to actually make this a reality.
- 20:03Josh: Outside of the social flywheel. This is also a data collection flywheel and
- 20:07Josh: it puts them in a really good spot.
- 20:08Josh: But I have to ask myself the question is, am I going to use this?
- 20:12Josh: Ejaz, are you going to use this? Like, is this actually strong enough to get you to leave?
- 20:15Ejaaz: Okay. So here is my killer thesis behind this. And I specifically use the word killer here.
- 20:22Ejaaz: If this plays out and it is a good enough product, right?
- 20:26Ejaaz: I don't see why you wouldn't use this over something like iMessage.
- 20:31Ejaaz: Or wherever you text with people. Because in my opinion, if I can speak to my
- 20:35Ejaaz: friend, everyone, like you said, you've got almost probably a billion weekly
- 20:38Ejaaz: active users of ChatGPT.
- 20:40Ejaaz: A bunch of my friends already use it. I would rather have a text chat with them
- 20:44Ejaaz: with an AI in there, which can verify links that are posted in there,
- 20:48Ejaaz: which has an entire memory and context on our entire conversation.
- 20:51Ejaaz: So it can bring up text that someone's mentioned in the past to prove a point
- 20:54Ejaaz: or to kind of like share kind of knowledgeable information.
- 20:57Ejaaz: And just to be that better kind of like wise man in the group chat,
- 21:01Ejaaz: Why wouldn't I use something like that?
- 21:02Ejaaz: That sounds like a much better user experience than me typing random text and
- 21:07Ejaaz: scrolling and searching for the names that I'm looking for, right?
- 21:09Ejaaz: I think it's a much better experience.
- 21:11Ejaaz: I think this eventually kills iMessage. Like, why wouldn't Apple be shaking right now?
- 21:15Josh: Yeah iMessage it's really so sticky i really love iMessage and we always talk
- 21:20Josh: about the moats that apple has one of them being the blue the blue dots when
- 21:23Josh: you're texting people the blue bubbles um they have a few moats though that
- 21:28Josh: are starting to fall and this is slightly unrelated but i wanted to bring it
- 21:31Josh: up this week which is android and google's new rollout of.
- 21:35Josh: Airdrop which is weird because when i say airdrop yeah so airdrop like the way
- 21:39Josh: that you it's the best feature in the world if you have a file on one of your
- 21:43Josh: apple devices and you want to get it to another one of either yours or a friend's
- 21:46Josh: Apple device, you can just airdrop it.
- 21:48Josh: And using some magic wireless technology, it just shows up on their phone so
- 21:52Josh: long as you are in close proximity to them.
- 21:54Josh: And this is normally how, like when we hang out, this is how we transfer photos.
- 21:57Josh: It's quick, it's high fidelity.
- 21:59Josh: It just transfers raw files, huge amounts of data. It is an amazing feature
- 22:03Josh: exclusive to Apple. Well, Google just this week,
- 22:07Josh: They rolled out airdrop support for iOS, which is really weird because Apple
- 22:12Josh: certainly doesn't want that to happen.
- 22:14Josh: And it appears as if they reverse engineered Apple's airdrop function,
- 22:18Josh: and they figured out how to create a companion that is compatible with the Apple
- 22:23Josh: airdrop functionality.
- 22:24Josh: And to me, this signals one of two things.
- 22:27Josh: One is that Apple's monopoly on these things that keep the ecosystem sticky is starting to fall.
- 22:35Josh: First, it was the rich text messaging where you could actually send Android
- 22:39Josh: users emojis and you could send photos in true resolution.
- 22:44Josh: Now it's an airdrop feature that's getting emulated. If they can figure out
- 22:48Josh: how to airdrop, maybe they can figure out how to emulate blue bubbles.
- 22:51Josh: And this comes against the backdrop of antiretron lawsuits that have been continuously
- 22:55Josh: happening of Apple's kind of restrictive...
- 22:59Josh: Ideologies and capabilities when it comes to keeping people locked into their platform.
- 23:03Josh: So Apple kind of has two options. One, they either lean into it and they just
- 23:07Josh: suck it up and they take that blow.
- 23:08Josh: I suspect that's not going to happen too, is that they're probably going to
- 23:10Josh: cut this off and say, no, you cannot do this.
- 23:13Josh: But in the case they do, well, then they get into antitrust trouble and you
- 23:16Josh: don't know what kind of rabbit hole that's going to go down.
- 23:18Josh: So there is this monopoly on Apple that's starting to be attacked pretty directly.
- 23:23Josh: And I wonder if that's going to further enhance the flywheel,
- 23:26Josh: the social effects of people wanting to use alternatives like ChatGPT's group chats or even like XAI.
- 23:34Josh: EJS, I don't know if you saw the new X chat feature that rolled out recently. They have chat.
- 23:37Josh: They're one button away from rolling rock into those and you could create group
- 23:41Josh: chats and like there is going to be a lot of competition.
- 23:44Josh: And what we're finding is, EJS, we always talk about this, but AI is going to be everywhere.
- 23:49Josh: And if you could build a stack that meets people where they are and integrates
- 23:53Josh: AI faster and better than anybody else and get those users locked in early,
- 23:56Josh: this is the race that's being played. and JackGPT made a big move this week.
- 24:00Josh: It's true. And dropping group chats.
- 24:01Josh: So I don't know if I'm going to race to have a group chat, but we should spin
- 24:05Josh: one up and try it and play around with it and see how much we really like it.
- 24:09Ejaaz: I'm down. I'm going to start one right after this episode. I was just thinking
- 24:13Ejaaz: the counter argument would be like, I just don't see Apple sitting around and
- 24:18Ejaaz: letting this happen to them, right?
- 24:19Ejaaz: They signed that deal recently with Google to get their custom-made Gemini model
- 24:26Ejaaz: made specifically for Apple.
- 24:28Ejaaz: Into Siri and into their iOS, which means that we're going to have an Apple
- 24:32Ejaaz: AI in Siri sometime in 2026.
- 24:35Ejaaz: And I can imagine that that's probably going to be available in the text feature as well.
- 24:40Ejaaz: So I can't imagine Apple's going to sit around, but they are very much on the back foot right now.
- 24:45Ejaaz: And it's not looking great when you have companies like XAI,
- 24:49Ejaaz: Grok, and OpenAI with group chats kind of pushing aggressively into the social
- 24:54Ejaaz: realm. Like this is the first time, if you think about it,
- 24:57Ejaaz: My interaction with ChatGPT has been very one-on-one, right?
- 25:00Ejaaz: It's kind of very siloed.
- 25:01Ejaaz: And now they're kind of tapping into the social graph where not only am I just
- 25:05Ejaaz: kind of using ChatGPT to get information, and it does it in a really reliable way.
- 25:09Ejaaz: I would say I spent about 40% of my internet browsing time on ChatGPT.
- 25:14Ejaaz: Now it's tapping into my social arc, Josh.
- 25:16Ejaaz: Now it's tapping into personal information. Now it's tapping into my leisure and my joy.
- 25:21Ejaaz: It's going to know about my jokes that I make. It might make me laugh. I don't know.
- 25:24Ejaaz: It might react like, you know, with a smiley emoji to my joke and I might feel good about it.
- 25:29Ejaaz: So it's a really interesting kind of realm and it's so weird to think about.
- 25:32Ejaaz: I don't know what it's going to look like. Meta is definitely fuming.
- 25:35Ejaaz: Meta is definitely angry that they didn't do something like this.
- 25:38Josh: Well, it seems like everybody's fuming. Everyone just like, everyone's competing.
- 25:41Josh: It's so hyper competitive. Everyone wants to win.
- 25:43Josh: Apple is one good update away from breaking this mold and just keeping us locked in.
- 25:48Josh: So while Apple always moves the slowest and normally the best,
- 25:51Josh: they are going to need to have some urgency before they really just lose this
- 25:55Josh: moat. So I'm hopeful for some new updates.
- 25:57Josh: This is not the end of the group chat.
- 25:59Josh: This may be the beginning of the AI group chat, but this is certainly only step
- 26:02Josh: one in the journey. But that's it.
- 26:04Josh: That is two cool tools that released this week that are really, really cool.
- 26:09Josh: Like we're getting some good stuff fairly quickly.
- 26:11Josh: I would encourage everyone to try them out. Let us know what you think.
- 26:15Josh: In particular, I want your Nano Banana Pro prompts.
- 26:18Josh: I want to know the cool prompts that you're using to make these fun types of
- 26:22Josh: images, whether it be, you know, walking down the aisle with someone or just
- 26:26Josh: a really cool graphic or whatever.
- 26:28Josh: Because again, it's just creativity constraints. So if you could come up with
- 26:30Josh: a good prompt, let us know, share it, share it with your friends,
- 26:33Josh: just like you're hopefully going to share this episode with them.
- 26:36Josh: And also don't forget to subscribe. If you do subscribe on YouTube,
- 26:38Josh: click the little bell icon too. If you haven't clicked the bell, it's very important.
- 26:42Josh: Notifies you when new videos go live and who wouldn't want to know when new
- 26:46Josh: videos go live three times a week.
- 26:48Josh: So yeah, that's it. That's all we got. Go try them out, test it out,
- 26:51Josh: share with your friends.
- 26:52Josh: Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe, all the great new stuff and we will
- 26:55Josh: see you guys on the next episode see you guys for watching peace.
