Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Touch out.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Welcome back to foul territory. We're gonna get into a
- 0:05Speaker 2: little WBC discussion. Boys, USA versus Canada tonight, our neighbors
- 0:10Speaker 2: to the north.
- 0:11Speaker 3: What do you got?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Joe Ryan's gonna come on for Clayton Kershaw if they
- 0:14Speaker 2: make it past this game. Matthew Boyd has left. We've
- 0:18Speaker 2: already heard about some roster moves with the bullpen. Tim Hill,
- 0:22Speaker 2: will vest right, Tyler Rodgers coming on. What do you
- 0:25Speaker 2: guys think happens tonight in the USA Versus Canada?
- 0:30Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:30Speaker 5: I think ultimately USA is gonna come out on top.
- 0:34Speaker 5: That's why I'm wearing this shirt. I think they do.
- 0:37Speaker 5: I don't know if it's in the blowout fashion ag.
- 0:40Speaker 5: I've heard you talk about it a little bit earlier.
- 0:42Speaker 5: I've talked about a little bit earlier. Canada team is
- 0:44Speaker 5: not a team to be messed with. This is probably
- 0:46Speaker 5: their best team in a long time. They've been playing well.
- 0:49Speaker 5: They beat a good Puerto Rico team. They ended up
- 0:53Speaker 5: beating a good Cuba team, so they're battle tested. USA
- 0:57Speaker 5: should not take this lightly. But I do see them winning,
- 1:00Speaker 5: you know, not by blowof fashion, but I do see
- 1:02Speaker 5: them winning.
- 1:03Speaker 4: You know, A pretty close game for sure.
- 1:06Speaker 6: Obviously this is the time when somebody for Canada needs
- 1:09Speaker 6: to step up in the bullpen. You've got some I
- 1:14Speaker 6: was looking over their roster and you got some guys.
- 1:17Speaker 6: Filipo Mont I mean I played with Filipomnt back in
- 1:20Speaker 6: twenty I think it was twenty twelve and maybe even
- 1:24Speaker 6: twenty eleven, and he was like twenty or twenty one
- 1:28Speaker 6: years old, came over in the Cliff Lee deal. You
- 1:32Speaker 6: have to have somebody that steps up that you're like, oh,
- 1:35Speaker 6: I remember that name, and you know, oh, he's he's
- 1:39Speaker 6: able to throw for him because they don't have as
- 1:41Speaker 6: many guys as they had before in that bullpen that
- 1:45Speaker 6: were established, like you have a you have different different
- 1:49Speaker 6: Canadian closers that have gone over to Japan and had
- 1:54Speaker 6: great careers.
- 1:55Speaker 7: Scott Mathieson is the one that comes to mind.
- 1:57Speaker 6: I think he played in four of the WBCs. He'll
- 2:01Speaker 6: probably text me and be like, no, I played in
- 2:03Speaker 6: every single one of them except for this one. So
- 2:05Speaker 6: it's one of those things that this team has to
- 2:09Speaker 6: be able to have everything hit perfectly because some of
- 2:13Speaker 6: their strengths are and they're starting pitching with Soroka with
- 2:16Speaker 6: Jamison ty On. Fortunately for them, they have Soroka going tonight,
- 2:20Speaker 6: and can he be the guy that mixes and matches
- 2:25Speaker 6: because he's not gonna blow one hundred miles an hour
- 2:27Speaker 6: past these guys. And that's in my opinion I said
- 2:30Speaker 6: before this, that's not how you try to beat Team USA.
- 2:33Speaker 6: You can't try to outstuff them. You have to do
- 2:36Speaker 6: what Michael Lorenzen did to a T And then you
- 2:40Speaker 6: saw what happened when they got to a little bit
- 2:42Speaker 6: of some of the weaker guys in that Italian bullpen.
- 2:46Speaker 6: They still scored six runs against him. And I'm just
- 2:48Speaker 6: afraid if Canada can't put up six runs, it's gonna
- 2:52Speaker 6: be tough to keep the US under six runs.
- 2:56Speaker 2: All Right, Well, we got the Canada, don't forget the
- 2:58Speaker 2: Naylor brothers lineup is not case. We've talked about the
- 3:02Speaker 2: Naylor brothers. They've got some guys that can can swing.
- 3:05Speaker 2: You mentioned who has to step up for Canada. Eric
- 3:07Speaker 2: Who's the guy for the US that has to step
- 3:09Speaker 2: up and be the guy that leads either the pitching
- 3:12Speaker 2: staff or the offense.
- 3:14Speaker 6: I mean, obviously it starts with Logan Web but that's
- 3:16Speaker 6: that's an easy one. But to me, it really has
- 3:20Speaker 6: to be the top of the lineup because you can't
- 3:24Speaker 6: pitch around Aaron Judge. And I don't know what the
- 3:26Speaker 6: line's gonna look like, the configuration. I assume Bobby WIT's
- 3:29Speaker 6: gonna be gonna be up there one or two, and
- 3:31Speaker 6: whoever it is ahead of judge.
- 3:34Speaker 7: Everybody says, well, you can't.
- 3:35Speaker 6: You can't pitch the judge because or you have to
- 3:37Speaker 6: pitch the judge because so and so is hitting behind them.
- 3:40Speaker 6: I think in a tournament like this, and Todd can
- 3:43Speaker 6: attest to this. In international baseball, when there's traffic on
- 3:46Speaker 6: the basis, everybody gets a little bit more panicked. It'll
- 3:50Speaker 6: be less with Soroka. And you know, Logan Web is
- 3:54Speaker 6: not gonna panic. These guys with big Lee experience are
- 3:56Speaker 6: gonna have are gonna have less panic in their system.
- 4:00Speaker 6: But it just when the table gets set in front
- 4:03Speaker 6: of judge, it makes them say, crap, we gotta throw
- 4:07Speaker 6: to them, or we can't just put them on to
- 4:09Speaker 6: load the bases for Kyle Swarb or Bryce Harper, whoever's
- 4:14Speaker 6: hitting behind him. I get that, but it really matters
- 4:17Speaker 6: if those guys ahead of them put him in a
- 4:20Speaker 6: spot where he can drive guys in. So am I
- 4:23Speaker 6: saying Aaron Judge has to step up? No, I'm saying
- 4:25Speaker 6: the guys in front of him have to allow Aaron
- 4:27Speaker 6: Judge to be the best hitter on the planet like
- 4:30Speaker 6: he is.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Yeah, and to your point, the guys in front of
- 4:34Speaker 5: him have to do well, but also the guys behind
- 4:36Speaker 5: them too, because one or the other. I think there's
- 4:40Speaker 5: gonna be opportunities for both of these guys to step up.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Whoever's hitting in the front or behind. But a name
- 4:46Speaker 5: like a Bryce Harper and now he's two for ten,
- 4:48Speaker 5: but guess what, he's viable to hit three home runs today,
- 4:53Speaker 5: you know, like a Pasquatina. The guy is that good
- 4:56Speaker 5: of a baseball player. I'm not really worried about him,
- 4:58Speaker 5: but he has to be ready to go. And I
- 5:00Speaker 5: think the bullpen too. I think the bullpen better be ready.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Once Web is done. These guys got to step it up,
- 5:06Speaker 5: keep doing what they're doing, get out, throw strikes, and
- 5:10Speaker 5: you know, basically when when and if Canada is losing,
- 5:13Speaker 5: they got to stomp on them and keep the pressure
- 5:15Speaker 5: on them. Because you've seen some of these games. USA
- 5:18Speaker 5: came back down eight nothing. You see Venezuela putting pressure
- 5:22Speaker 5: on Dominican in the last inning, so ultimately win the game,
- 5:27Speaker 5: win it by a lot, and don't keep putting the
- 5:29Speaker 5: pressure on these guys.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, by the way, we keep talking about the USA
- 5:33Speaker 2: and Canada game, there's also another game today, which is
- 5:36Speaker 2: a quarterfinal matchup with a couple of big name teams
- 5:40Speaker 2: in at Korea versus Dominican Republic in Miami is going
- 5:44Speaker 2: to be absolutely electric. I'm not going to ask you
- 5:47Speaker 2: all to break down the Korea team because we don't
- 5:49Speaker 2: know a lot about them. So maybe let's go a
- 5:51Speaker 2: little bit in the Dominican team. How many homers do
- 5:53Speaker 2: we think they hit? How many bat flips do we
- 5:55Speaker 2: think they'll have? How will they're pitching? Hold up Sandy
- 5:58Speaker 2: al contras That I'll pitch anywhere. I'll pitch five innings,
- 6:01Speaker 2: I'll pitch the ninth, I'll pitch the seventh. What do
- 6:03Speaker 2: you guys think happens in the Korea?
- 6:04Speaker 5: Dominican Todd, I'll go Krasty's ready, go ahead, big dog,
- 6:09Speaker 5: your itching.
- 6:09Speaker 6: No, I was just gonna I was gonna take the
- 6:11Speaker 6: tougher part. I'll take Korea. I'll take Korea. Oh God,
- 6:15Speaker 6: so that Todd can say, you know, all all the
- 6:18Speaker 6: home runs in the battlists, because we know Todd loves
- 6:21Speaker 6: all that flash and flare.
- 6:22Speaker 7: But it's Hunging Rio. It's hunting real. We know Hunging Reo.
- 6:26Speaker 6: He he had opportunities to pitch in the big leagues
- 6:30Speaker 6: after he left to go back and pitching Korea, and
- 6:32Speaker 6: he wanted to go back and pitching Korea. And he's
- 6:34Speaker 6: he's done well over there. He knows how to get
- 6:37Speaker 6: big league hitters out. The issue that I see is
- 6:41Speaker 6: Hunting Rio. I don't know where his velocity, his stuff,
- 6:44Speaker 6: any of that stuff is at is He was consistently
- 6:48Speaker 6: a guy that threw that cutter through, that big curveball
- 6:51Speaker 6: that he'd land for a strike, and they'd try to
- 6:53Speaker 6: get you to bounce, but that back door cutter, he'd
- 6:56Speaker 6: run it. He would try to run the back door
- 6:58Speaker 6: cutter more than he would like Clayton Kershaw cut her
- 7:01Speaker 6: down and in cut her up and in kind of thing.
- 7:04Speaker 6: And I'm just afraid if he doesn't establish the inside
- 7:07Speaker 6: part of the plate to these Dominican hitters, the way
- 7:11Speaker 6: that they look in this tournament, but also the way
- 7:14Speaker 6: that they look generally because they're All Stars and MVP
- 7:18Speaker 6: type players.
- 7:20Speaker 7: I'm just afraid it's not.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Going to go well because of the fact that you
- 7:24Speaker 6: can't just live out over the plate or out away
- 7:28Speaker 6: from these guys. You have to be able to get
- 7:30Speaker 6: in on their hands, to be able to neutralize some
- 7:33Speaker 6: of that extension that almost everybody up and down this
- 7:37Speaker 6: lineup is getting.
- 7:40Speaker 8: We love Hello Fresh shout out to them, and over

- 8:04Speaker 2: Well, listen, Scott, I'm trying to stay in my playing
- 8:06Speaker 2: slash fighting shape, so I need the seafood, I need
- 8:08Speaker 2: the protein, and I need the veggies. And plus I
- 8:10Speaker 2: want to look cool when people come over and say, Wow,
- 8:12Speaker 2: you made all this stuff, and I'll be like easy peasy.

- 8:39Speaker 8: nothing hits like home cooking.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I think a few things.
- 8:42Speaker 5: The atmosphere his career going to be ready for the
- 8:45Speaker 5: for the loud music, the craziness of the fans. I
- 8:48Speaker 5: think they are for one, I think they've been around
- 8:50Speaker 5: it before.
- 8:52Speaker 4: It's just going to be a.
- 8:53Speaker 5: Little bit more looser, a little bit more fun, a
- 8:56Speaker 5: little bit more you know, attitude. If they could make
- 9:00Speaker 5: this game low scoring, I think Korea does have a shot.
- 9:05Speaker 5: And I say that lightly. I think they do have
- 9:07Speaker 5: a shot. And you have a veteran in Hinshew, like
- 9:11Speaker 5: listen if he can manipulate the strike zone and throw
- 9:14Speaker 5: a lot of strikes, because this team has been very
- 9:16Speaker 5: good as hitters, laying off all those pitches that a
- 9:20Speaker 5: lot of the times they usually swing at. But again,
- 9:23Speaker 5: if Korea is gonna keep this score low. The discipline
- 9:26Speaker 5: of this team. They've played together for a long time.
- 9:29Speaker 5: These guys know each other. Yeah, they do have a shot,
- 9:32Speaker 5: but if they start giving up even an infield single,
- 9:36Speaker 5: it doesn't matter. The crowd's gonna go absolutely bonkers. They're
- 9:39Speaker 5: going to be spinning around the bases. This team plays
- 9:42Speaker 5: really well in the Dominican and they have some bats
- 9:45Speaker 5: that are absolutely some of the best in the world.
- 9:48Speaker 5: So finding a way to minimize runs, having those big
- 9:52Speaker 5: innings minimize, then Korea will have their shot.
- 9:56Speaker 6: All right, Well, we know Time's learn his Olympic his
- 9:58Speaker 6: Olympic USA quarter zip, so we know he's for USA.
- 10:03Speaker 6: We know that aj has been born in New York, Florida, Chicago.
- 10:07Speaker 6: He's one hundred percent American. So tonight, are you cheering
- 10:11Speaker 6: for Korea to play the US after they win or
- 10:17Speaker 6: are you like it's okay whoever they play.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Whoever praps, it doesn't matter, It doesn't matter. I mean,
- 10:24Speaker 2: look at how it went against Italy. It doesn't matter
- 10:26Speaker 2: who they play. It's it's just an easy tournament for
- 10:29Speaker 2: the US to slide right through. Right now, of course
- 10:31Speaker 2: I'm hearing, I won't listen I want the best matchups
- 10:34Speaker 2: right in USA versus Dominican in Miami would be absolutely incredible.
- 10:37Speaker 3: But do we think here's a better question.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Do we think Dominican is a problem for anybody that
- 10:43Speaker 2: has to face him if they beat Korea? And then
- 10:44Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask both of you guys, is and whoever
- 10:46Speaker 2: wants to answer, do we think Let's say, Korea is
- 10:48Speaker 2: really good at playing small ball and not a lot
- 10:50Speaker 2: of these teams are used to playing and defending the
- 10:53Speaker 2: small ball. The bunch, the steals, the hit and runs.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Korea does that and Japan does that. That's why they've
- 10:58Speaker 2: been so successful in this tournament. If it's tight in
- 11:00Speaker 2: the end, Korea gets a guy on, they bunt and
- 11:03Speaker 2: we see someone maybe make a mistake throwing a ball
- 11:06Speaker 2: to a base. We've seen that from some of these relievers.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Is Dominican a problem for you guys? And can the
- 11:10Speaker 2: Korea small ball be a problem for the Dominican today?
- 11:14Speaker 4: Yeah? I think a little bit of both.
- 11:16Speaker 5: And I think with Korea, I talked about it, for
- 11:18Speaker 5: their discipline and their honor of the game and how
- 11:21Speaker 5: these guys play, they're a problem for anybody. Korea, Japan, Chinese,
- 11:26Speaker 5: type pei. You know, Chinese tip pey just didn't have
- 11:29Speaker 5: the firepower. That was their problem. But this Korea team
- 11:33Speaker 5: they play hard. They play hard against Japan. They are
- 11:36Speaker 5: gonna come out and they are going to slap the
- 11:38Speaker 5: ball the other way. They're gonna get the bunt down,
- 11:41Speaker 5: They're gonna go first to third. They're gonna be in
- 11:44Speaker 5: the right positions. You're not gonna see many mistakes. And
- 11:47Speaker 5: if you do see some mistakes, it's because of the
- 11:49Speaker 5: atmosphere and the crowd, and that got to them a
- 11:51Speaker 5: little bit. But this team is ready for it. They're
- 11:54Speaker 5: ready for all the smoke. They're respectful, they honor the
- 11:57Speaker 5: other team. But ultimately this team here, you saw them,
- 11:59Speaker 5: they're crying, they're ready to go. They've wanted this moment
- 12:02Speaker 5: for a long time. It's just a matter of how
- 12:06Speaker 5: the pitching is gonna be and if they're ready for
- 12:09Speaker 5: this moment, you know, coming over here to play against
- 12:12Speaker 5: a really good team.
- 12:13Speaker 6: All right, Well then we got to get to the
- 12:15Speaker 6: next game. Then Japan versus Venezuela A jay. I gotta
- 12:19Speaker 6: ask you first, who do you think has the better
- 12:23Speaker 6: starting pitcher, because then I want it based on the
- 12:27Speaker 6: lineup that they're gonna be facing Ranger Suarez from Venezuela
- 12:31Speaker 6: versus Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Obviously, Yamamoto's had the better season, but
- 12:36Speaker 6: I mean the better career in the big leagues so far.
- 12:39Speaker 6: But do you feel like Rangers' ability to change speeds
- 12:44Speaker 6: will be enough to keep the Japanese lineup down one
- 12:48Speaker 6: hundred percent?
- 12:49Speaker 2: And I also think he's pitched his huge games for
- 12:51Speaker 2: the Phillies. Let's not forget this. Dude's a monster in
- 12:53Speaker 2: the postseason. He's an absolute monster in the postseason. He's
- 12:57Speaker 2: had unbelievable postseason success. So he can slow the heart,
- 13:00Speaker 2: he can breathe, he has all the all the tools
- 13:02Speaker 2: to be fine. And the one thing I love about
- 13:04Speaker 2: him is he's left handed cratzy. The Japanese lineup has
- 13:08Speaker 2: a ton of lefties in it. Whether you're going show Hey, Murkami,
- 13:11Speaker 2: whoever you want to go through this list Yoshida. They
- 13:14Speaker 2: have a ton of lefties, so he can neutralize them
- 13:16Speaker 2: with his not only has change up with the little
- 13:17Speaker 2: breaking ball he throws. So I think this is a
- 13:19Speaker 2: great matchup for Venezuela. Listen, do we all know what
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yamamoto can do we saw it in the World Series. Absolutely,
- 13:25Speaker 2: But if they can survive that and then get to
- 13:28Speaker 2: the bullpen, Venezuela, as we talked to Carlos narvaias, they
- 13:31Speaker 2: have some dudes coming out of the bullpen, and the
- 13:33Speaker 2: offense for Venezuela is real.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Salvador Prez Suarez rise.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I mean, the names are all names you've heard of
- 13:39Speaker 2: Akunya right, This offense is real. So I think if
- 13:42Speaker 2: they keep it close, the pressure starts mounting on Japan,
- 13:45Speaker 2: the crowd will get behind Venezuela. I think this is
- 13:47Speaker 2: an unbelievable matchup. I can't wait to call this game
- 13:50Speaker 2: tomorrow night on Fox.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Yeah, and again, like you said, the big point is
- 13:55Speaker 5: left on left. You know you see Shoheo Tani, he
- 13:58Speaker 5: is just in a different atmosphere. When it comes to that,
- 14:02Speaker 5: he'll be out in front of a ball scoop it
- 14:04Speaker 5: out for a home run.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I think he's gonna be ready to go. He's been.
- 14:07Speaker 5: I've saw some some clips of him teaching guys, get
- 14:10Speaker 5: your elbow up.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Next thing you know he hits a home run. So
- 14:13Speaker 4: these guys are gonna be ready to go.
- 14:14Speaker 5: They understand what the atmosphere is, and I think Showy
- 14:18Speaker 5: is gonna explain to them that too as well. Venezuela
- 14:21Speaker 5: team with Salvador Perez. I mean, he's gonna get these
- 14:24Speaker 5: guys going. He doesn't want to go home. So we'll
- 14:26Speaker 5: see who's gonna throw that first punch, because when it comes,
- 14:30Speaker 5: then the next team is gonna be on the rope.
- 14:32Speaker 4: So it's game. These games are gonna be long, They're
- 14:34Speaker 4: gonna be drawn out.
- 14:36Speaker 5: There's gonna be a lot more timeouts, and we're gonna
- 14:38Speaker 5: see who's gonna come out victorious. I mean, talk about
- 14:41Speaker 5: a guy that hasn't really done much yet. You Henniyo Suarez.
- 14:45Speaker 5: Watch out for him too. He might even be starting
- 14:47Speaker 5: or get a pinch it appearance. Watch out all.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Right, real quick? Who wins? I can't because I'm commentating.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I'm commenting. I'm commentating, So who wins?
- 14:54Speaker 3: Guys?
- 14:55Speaker 2: Give me the give me the give me the fourth
- 14:57Speaker 2: semi finalists? Off these four games we have coming, Who's
- 14:59Speaker 2: who's go ahead?
- 15:00Speaker 4: Time? All right?
- 15:02Speaker 5: I'm going Japan finding a way to win. It's gonna
- 15:05Speaker 5: be a pretty close game. I'm going Usa. I'm going
- 15:09Speaker 5: Italy Verse Japan. Excuse me, I'll go Usa versus Dominicano.
- 15:17Speaker 6: I'm going Puerto Rico versus Puerto Rico's got seth Lugo going,
- 15:23Speaker 6: so I like that Versus Japan. I guess that's chalk
- 15:28Speaker 6: and I'm chalk with the US and Dominican on the
- 15:30Speaker 6: other side.
- 15:32Speaker 2: All right, So no upsets, all right, But don't forget

- 16:14Speaker 2: also from Fox Fox one get the app seven day
- 16:17Speaker 2: free trial for the World Baseball Classic.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Ken.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I know all you do is work all day, you
- 16:23Speaker 2: write all day. So what's your big news you're breaking today?
- 16:27Speaker 9: No big News AJ But certainly we have a meaningful
- 16:29Speaker 9: game tonight in Houston, and it's going to be really
- 16:32Speaker 9: interesting to see just how this all plays out. Canada,
- 16:36Speaker 9: like Italy, has a number of major league players, and
- 16:39Speaker 9: they're not going to be afraid. Obviously, they've got Mike
- 16:42Speaker 9: Soroka on the mound. He's faced a lot of these guys.
- 16:45Speaker 9: Do I expect the US to win? Of course, I
- 16:47Speaker 9: expect the US to win, But as we all learn
- 16:49Speaker 9: the other night, in one game, and you guys know this,
- 16:53Speaker 9: anything can happen.
- 16:55Speaker 6: If the game goes in Canada's favor early with Soroka
- 16:59Speaker 6: doing well on we assume Logan Web's gonna do well,
- 17:02Speaker 6: so it'll be low scoring. Do they have the punch
- 17:05Speaker 6: in their lineup to be able to push them past
- 17:09Speaker 6: a US team that you assume is gonna score some
- 17:12Speaker 6: runs at some point?
- 17:14Speaker 9: We have assumed that the entire tournament, and they have
- 17:17Speaker 9: at times done that. They've been inconsistent offensively. The US
- 17:20Speaker 9: has now Canada has Josh Naylor, Tyler O'Neill, bow Naylor,
- 17:26Speaker 9: a number of guys who have major League experienced or,
- 17:30Speaker 9: in the case of Owen Casey, major league ready. So yes,
- 17:34Speaker 9: I do believe they have enough punch if it gets
- 17:37Speaker 9: to that kind of game. Sure, But again the question becomes,
- 17:41Speaker 9: how is this going to play out for the US. Now,
- 17:43Speaker 9: keep in mind there are going to be a number
- 17:45Speaker 9: of different relievers in play tonight for the US. Tyler
- 17:50Speaker 9: Rodgers joining the team, Will vest Is here as well,
- 17:53Speaker 9: and there was one other that is also joining the team,
- 17:56Speaker 9: oh Tim Hill. So three new relievers coming in and
- 18:00Speaker 9: we're going to see if the team advances. Joe Ryan
- 18:04Speaker 9: come into play, possibly for the championship game. But they've
- 18:07Speaker 9: got to get there, and they probably learned the other
- 18:10Speaker 9: night that you cannot look past any opponent. Mark Durosis
- 18:13Speaker 9: said yesterday, they probably went into that game a little
- 18:16Speaker 9: overconfident and got a wake up call.
- 18:20Speaker 5: Do you see any or in the foreseeable future for
- 18:23Speaker 5: tonight you see any changes you know, back to the
- 18:26Speaker 5: original lineup? Probably, of course, But is there any names
- 18:29Speaker 5: you think that might hop in there that you don't
- 18:31Speaker 5: think should be playing or should not be playing?
- 18:33Speaker 4: Do you see any of those kind of changes.
- 18:36Speaker 1: No.
- 18:36Speaker 9: I expect to see Harper and Bregman back in the lineup, Todd,
- 18:40Speaker 9: and I expect to see as well Cal Rowley back
- 18:42Speaker 9: in the lineup.
- 18:43Speaker 10: He caught web in that first game.
- 18:45Speaker 9: The one significant move, if you want to call it
- 18:48Speaker 9: that even would be p Crow Armstrong for Byron Buxton,
- 18:50Speaker 9: and that is going to happen. Krol Armstrong is going
- 18:53Speaker 9: to be in there, and of course he's going to
- 18:55Speaker 9: be in there. He had two home runs the other night,
- 18:57Speaker 9: looked great like Buxton is a premier center field. So
- 19:00Speaker 9: that's the one that maybe is different than the previous
- 19:05Speaker 9: lineup we saw with this group.
- 19:09Speaker 8: The number one rated ticketing app is seat geek and
- 19:12Speaker 8: you can get ten percent off on sea geeks app
- 19:15Speaker 8: by using the code territory ten, So you should use it.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Aj Oh, I'm definitely going to use it for WBC
- 19:21Speaker 2: games and Jami because I want to go to the
- 19:22Speaker 2: semifinals in the finals.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And they're going to be sold out.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Absolutely go spring training games for the people out there
- 19:27Speaker 2: who want to go to spring training games. Absolutely great
- 19:29Speaker 2: idea best seats radar one through ten, and I recently
- 19:31Speaker 2: had to use seageek to buy tickets to a Florida
- 19:33Speaker 2: Gators basketball game that was sold out. So I love
- 19:36Speaker 2: the code territory ten percent off and the rating is
- 19:39Speaker 2: the best.
- 19:40Speaker 8: Yes, he's talking about each ticket rated on a scale
- 19:42Speaker 8: of one to ten, so you know you're getting a
- 19:44Speaker 8: good deal. So look for the green dots. Green means good,
- 19:46Speaker 8: red means bad. And of course we have a code
- 19:49Speaker 8: for you, like I mentioned, it's Territory ten for ten
- 19:52Speaker 8: percent off your next set of tickets at Sea Geek.
- 19:55Speaker 8: That's ten percent off any tickets with promo code t
- 19:58Speaker 8: E R R I O R why one zero. Make
- 20:01Speaker 8: sure you click the link in the description and download
- 20:03Speaker 8: the app and have the code automatically added to your account.
- 20:05Speaker 10: So you can use it later. Thank you to see Geek.
- 20:10Speaker 7: Adding those three relievers.
- 20:11Speaker 6: And most likely you said about Joe Ryan possibly if
- 20:14Speaker 6: they make the finals, does that give them a little
- 20:17Speaker 6: bit of different leeway with Nolan McClain. Is there a
- 20:19Speaker 6: chance he'd be ready for a bullpen appearance or the
- 20:23Speaker 6: Mets say no, if he's not going to be used
- 20:25Speaker 6: a certain way, or have you not been privy to
- 20:27Speaker 6: that information.
- 20:29Speaker 1: No.
- 20:29Speaker 9: If Nolan McClain pitches in the championship game, which is
- 20:33Speaker 9: the expectation, that's how it's lined up. If they get there,
- 20:36Speaker 9: then he would start. That would be my expectation.
- 20:39Speaker 10: Joe Ryan would be not quite an emergency guy, but
- 20:43Speaker 10: not someone you would expect to see start a game.
- 20:46Speaker 9: He just has made one spring training start coming off
- 20:49Speaker 9: that lower back inflammation. He pitched three strong innings in
- 20:52Speaker 9: that spring training start, but he is not.
- 20:55Speaker 10: Built up for anything like a start in a WBC.
- 20:58Speaker 9: I would think it would be one innings max for him,
- 21:02Speaker 9: if indeed they get that far. But guys, we're talking
- 21:05Speaker 9: about a team that just did lose to Italy, faces
- 21:08Speaker 9: Canada tonight and then if it wins, would face the
- 21:11Speaker 9: winner of the Dominican Republic Korea quarterfinal in Miami on Sunday,
- 21:16Speaker 9: And regardless of who wins that game, I think the
- 21:18Speaker 9: Dominican is, of course favored.
- 21:20Speaker 10: It's not going to be easy. So I think if
- 21:23Speaker 10: there's one thing we've all learned here, including the manager of.
- 21:26Speaker 9: This team and the players on this team, don't look
- 21:28Speaker 9: ahead one game at a time.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Ken, what has the strategy changed for the US Because
- 21:33Speaker 2: Clay Home's gone, right, Matthew Boyd back gone, now they
- 21:37Speaker 2: have Joe Ryant coming in their Their playing originally was
- 21:39Speaker 2: kind of to piggyback and and use relievers when they
- 21:42Speaker 2: could if they needed them. Has that strategy changed now
- 21:45Speaker 2: they're hoping Logan Web probably goes five innings at least
- 21:47Speaker 2: tonight with this new pitch count, and then they can
- 21:50Speaker 2: then they can deploy their relievers however they won, and
- 21:53Speaker 2: then they you know, then they get the off day
- 21:54Speaker 2: and then they can then they have schemes going for
- 21:57Speaker 2: hopefully five or six innings, and then they can use
- 21:59Speaker 2: the kind of the same guys because it won't be
- 22:01Speaker 2: back to back days, right, So has the strategy for
- 22:04Speaker 2: the US changed a little bit after what happened, especially
- 22:07Speaker 2: in the Italy game where they were kind of stuck
- 22:10Speaker 2: with who they had McLean and then Yarborough and then
- 22:13Speaker 2: they were like, oh man, who do we pitch next?
- 22:14Speaker 3: Or has it changed a little bit?
- 22:17Speaker 9: I don't know aj that it's changed as much as
- 22:20Speaker 9: circumstances have changed. And what has happened here is a
- 22:23Speaker 9: number of pitchers, horse starters, Matthew Boyd being one of them,
- 22:27Speaker 9: Clay Holmes being another, Michael Waka a third. Those guys
- 22:32Speaker 9: have to get ready for the season and they cannot
- 22:34Speaker 9: be guaranteed innings at this point. At this point, Mark
- 22:37Speaker 9: de Ross is going to go with whoever is pitching best,
- 22:40Speaker 9: and the piggyback system that we've seen in other games
- 22:44Speaker 9: does not really apply in the knockout round. They're going
- 22:47Speaker 9: for it, right, So that is one reason why the
- 22:51Speaker 9: starters are shuffling out, some more relievers are shuffling in,
- 22:54Speaker 9: and yes, they want as many bullpen arms as they
- 22:57Speaker 9: can get. Someone asked yesterday if it's a blowout one
- 23:01Speaker 9: way or the other, might we see Clayton kershaw tonight
- 23:04Speaker 9: and DeRosa's answer basically was I've got ten relievers, so
- 23:09Speaker 9: probably the answer that would be no.
- 23:11Speaker 10: And that is why because they.
- 23:12Speaker 9: Are obviously in this particular situation now as opposed to
- 23:16Speaker 9: pool play when there is less urgency.
- 23:19Speaker 10: There's certainly urgency, but now you have to win every night.
- 23:23Speaker 6: Was all this ancillary's stuff with the what he said
- 23:26Speaker 6: miss bo postgame? Now you know other comments that were
- 23:30Speaker 6: different in things taken construed. Has it been a distraction
- 23:33Speaker 6: maybe for the manager and staff, but you feel like
- 23:36Speaker 6: it's been a distraction for the players when you talk to.
- 23:39Speaker 9: Them, I would not say it's been a distraction for
- 23:42Speaker 9: the players, And in talking to some of them yesterday,
- 23:46Speaker 9: I wouldn't say some of them were not aware of it,
- 23:48Speaker 9: but they're certainly not hanging on social media every day
- 23:52Speaker 9: and looking at it and just went wow, look at
- 23:54Speaker 9: what's going on. That's not kind of how they roll
- 23:57Speaker 9: for the most part, so they know what needs to
- 24:02Speaker 9: be done here. Has it been a distraction for DeRosa
- 24:05Speaker 9: and his staff, Yes, I would say that it's occupied
- 24:07Speaker 9: some of their time, no question about it. They have
- 24:09Speaker 9: talked about it, and DeRosa's gotten a lot of support
- 24:13Speaker 9: from people within the USA Baseball not just of course
- 24:17Speaker 9: the players, but the coaches and others. And he's had
- 24:20Speaker 9: some people reach out to him friends of his of
- 24:23Speaker 9: course throughout the game as well. So yeah, it's been
- 24:27Speaker 9: a distraction certainly for DeRosa, there's no question about that.
- 24:30Speaker 9: I would not say it's really affected the players.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's time to move on from all
- 24:36Speaker 4: that and let's go to try and win a ballgame.
- 24:39Speaker 5: For me, my question to you is Aaron Judge is
- 24:43Speaker 5: probably a guy that Canada is probably gonna try and
- 24:45Speaker 5: stay away from in my opinion, I mean, I feel
- 24:47Speaker 5: like anybody should try and stay away from him. Who's
- 24:50Speaker 5: that guy behind him that's going to have to step up?
- 24:52Speaker 5: You know, they have so many guys that can play
- 24:55Speaker 5: that are you know, productive that have been there before.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Who's the one guy in your opinion, like, hey man,
- 25:00Speaker 5: it's put up her shut up time here, let's go.
- 25:04Speaker 9: I would say Bryce Harper, and I don't know that
- 25:07Speaker 9: I would put it quite in that sense. Todd put
- 25:10Speaker 9: up her shut up up, but he's two for ten.
- 25:12Speaker 9: Didn't play in the last game, DeRosa said. One reason
- 25:16Speaker 9: I didn't play him. He's struggling a little bit. I thought,
- 25:18Speaker 9: get him off his feet, give him a day to
- 25:20Speaker 9: work and just kind of get away and he'll come
- 25:23Speaker 9: back strong. Now, of course, they put themselves in a
- 25:26Speaker 9: position where they might not have had Bryce Harper playing.
- 25:28Speaker 10: At all if not for Team Italy. But here we are.
- 25:32Speaker 10: Bryce Harper is a big game guy.
- 25:34Speaker 9: We know that, and I would expect that he is
- 25:38Speaker 9: someone who is going to want to play a major role.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Now.
- 25:41Speaker 10: The lineup is so deep.
- 25:43Speaker 9: We can be talking about this with any player. Cal Raley,
- 25:47Speaker 9: let's see him do something. Bobby with Junior is capable
- 25:50Speaker 9: of taking over a game at any time, as we
- 25:52Speaker 9: saw against Mexico and right down the line.
- 25:55Speaker 10: So I don't know that anyone has to put up
- 25:57Speaker 10: her shut up.
- 25:57Speaker 9: But Harper is the guy that I'm interested to see tonight,
- 26:01Speaker 9: just how he goes about it and how he fares.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Talking to the players on either side. Have anyone brought
- 26:07Speaker 6: up the fact that team USA Women's Hockey and Canada
- 26:12Speaker 6: Women's hockey played against each other and the men played
- 26:15Speaker 6: against each other.
- 26:16Speaker 7: Have they brought that up?
- 26:17Speaker 6: Because that's what the fans talk about, So it's interesting
- 26:20Speaker 6: to hear what the players have been saying to you.
- 26:23Speaker 9: Yes, that has come up, and yesterday some of the
- 26:26Speaker 9: Canadian players were talking about it, and DeRosa mentioned that
- 26:29Speaker 9: Jack Hughes reached out I believe to him, and then
- 26:32Speaker 9: he's voted the text to a group you know, the
- 26:35Speaker 9: group chat that they have, and seems that there are
- 26:39Speaker 9: going to be some jerseys Warren Hockey jerseys worn by
- 26:42Speaker 9: the US players, either in BP or around the clubhouse
- 26:46Speaker 9: something today along those lines.
- 26:48Speaker 10: Yesterday Josh Naylor was wearing a Paul Koreer jersey. Now
- 26:51Speaker 10: Paul Korea is I don't believe active at he Warre
- 26:53Speaker 10: in hockey. I'm not a hockey fan, so don't hold
- 26:55Speaker 10: me to this.
- 26:56Speaker 9: But he's been wearing a different jersey of a Canadian
- 26:58Speaker 9: hockey legend every day during their workouts. So yes, that
- 27:02Speaker 9: is certainly something that has come up. It's kind of
- 27:05Speaker 9: a cool PostScript here to what happened in the Olympics,
- 27:08Speaker 9: and we'll see how it plays out.
- 27:12Speaker 2: And we're I know, Canada, they have to be Canada first,
- 27:15Speaker 2: the USA does to get to the semifinals, Dominican has
- 27:18Speaker 2: to be Korea. What kind of matchup will that be
- 27:21Speaker 2: if it comes to USA Dominican in Miami semifinals, both
- 27:28Speaker 2: basically all star teams.
- 27:31Speaker 3: How great?
- 27:32Speaker 2: Listen, we got to get there, I know before everyone says,
- 27:34Speaker 2: but how amazing will that game be if it comes
- 27:38Speaker 2: to fruition?
- 27:40Speaker 9: Amazing AJ And yes, we've got to get there, as
- 27:43Speaker 9: you just said, But it is something that I would
- 27:46Speaker 9: be definitely looking forward to, and it would be something
- 27:49Speaker 9: that would be a lot of fun to cover. And
- 27:53Speaker 9: just the atmosphere in Miami. It's not as if you
- 27:56Speaker 9: were playing this game in Houston. It's a different.
- 27:58Speaker 10: World in Miami. Miami, my view, is kind.
- 28:00Speaker 9: Of the capital of Latin America, and there are people
- 28:03Speaker 9: from all different Latin American countries in Miami, a great
- 28:07Speaker 9: number of Dominicans, of course, and it would just be
- 28:10Speaker 9: something else to see, particularly given what we've seen so
- 28:14Speaker 9: far from the games involving the Dominican Republic in Miami,
- 28:18Speaker 9: just how electric they've been, how intense and passionate the
- 28:22Speaker 9: fans have been.
- 28:22Speaker 10: So that game would be a blast, no doubt.
- 28:25Speaker 9: And the fact that Skeins would be starting would just
- 28:28Speaker 9: add an element to it because here is or here
- 28:31Speaker 9: would be Paul Skins against Vlad Junior Tatist, Junior Manny Machado,
- 28:37Speaker 9: Katel Marte, Heraldo Podomo right down the line, all of
- 28:40Speaker 9: these great great Dominican players, Junior and Caminar, and I'm
- 28:43Speaker 9: sure I'm missing a few.
- 28:44Speaker 10: So yeah, that would be something to see.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Okay, so we're talking Dominican, we're talking USA. Now everyone
- 28:52Speaker 2: talks about the Dominican and their home run celebrations, and
- 28:55Speaker 2: then there's this kind of this, I don't want to
- 28:56Speaker 2: call it a false narrative by people like you Ken
- 28:59Speaker 2: that say the US isn't having any fun. Right, they
- 29:01Speaker 2: don't have the home run celebrations.
- 29:03Speaker 3: They don't have not said that at all, because they
- 29:05Speaker 3: don't have the bats, they don't have the bat flips.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Right, So if the USA does play Dominican, and let's
- 29:10Speaker 2: say Aaron Judge is one of the most stoic people
- 29:12Speaker 2: we've ever seen hits a big home run.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Will we get a bat flip?
- 29:16Speaker 2: Will we get a smile out of Aaron Judge as
- 29:18Speaker 2: he's running around the bases. Will we get a little
- 29:20Speaker 2: extra like the Dominican the Venezuelan players do, I mean
- 29:23Speaker 2: they hit a home run, it is a pure party
- 29:25Speaker 2: around the bases.
- 29:26Speaker 9: First of all, I believe we were on the broadcast
- 29:29Speaker 9: together the other day when we addressed this, and I
- 29:31Speaker 9: did say that the US players were playing with joy,
- 29:34Speaker 9: and they might show it a little bit different. And
- 29:35Speaker 9: we also saw in the Mexico game when Judge hit
- 29:39Speaker 9: that two run home or early, he gestured troyed the
- 29:42Speaker 9: dugout and flipped his bat and looked more excited.
- 29:46Speaker 10: Than you usually see Aaron Judge.
- 29:48Speaker 9: So the false narratives, you're asking the question and inventing
- 29:51Speaker 9: the narratives yourself.
- 29:52Speaker 10: Anyway, they just showed joy in a different way.
- 29:57Speaker 9: And this is a cool cultural element here that kind
- 30:01Speaker 9: of defines the different countries. And that's the beauty of
- 30:05Speaker 9: the World Baseball Classic.
- 30:06Speaker 10: It's the beauty of diversity.
- 30:08Speaker 9: You have different points of view, different ways of approaching things,
- 30:12Speaker 9: and I don't know that it makes the US players
- 30:15Speaker 9: any less joyful or any less I don't know what
- 30:19Speaker 9: the word would be, even just as I don't know
- 30:22Speaker 9: that you can criticize the Dominican players for the way
- 30:24Speaker 9: they act. That's just who they are, man, And it
- 30:27Speaker 9: bothers me when people want homogenous kind of reactions, everyone's
- 30:32Speaker 9: got to act. The saying it bothered me in the
- 30:33Speaker 9: old days, Oh my gosh, can't flip a bat. It's
- 30:37Speaker 9: equally kind of silly now to say, why aren't these
- 30:39Speaker 9: guys flipping bats? So I don't know, AJ take your
- 30:44Speaker 9: narrative and you know, just talk somewhere else.
- 30:47Speaker 6: I should have known this before I asked the question,
- 30:50Speaker 6: how many WBCs have you covered?
- 30:52Speaker 10: All of them? Every one of them?
- 30:55Speaker 6: Is this the most vibrant WBC. Vibrant isn't the right word,
- 30:59Speaker 6: but is it the Have they just continued to get
- 31:02Speaker 6: better with them because the talent increases, or do you
- 31:05Speaker 6: feel like there was another one that like sticks out
- 31:07Speaker 6: where you're like, ah, man, that one was a little
- 31:09Speaker 6: bit better than this one because of this.
- 31:12Speaker 10: The last one, to me was incredible.
- 31:15Speaker 9: And the reason I say that, eric is because every game,
- 31:20Speaker 9: at least in the later portion of the tournament were
- 31:24Speaker 9: really exciting. And I might be exaggerating at some but
- 31:27Speaker 9: I remember just the Mexico Japan game in the semifinal,
- 31:31Speaker 9: What a game that was. The US Venezuela game in
- 31:34Speaker 9: the quarterfinal, that was an incredible game, and those kinds
- 31:38Speaker 9: of moments is what makes a tournament so electric. We
- 31:42Speaker 9: haven't seen quite that consistency of great games, I guess
- 31:47Speaker 9: at this point, but that's not to say it won't happen.
- 31:50Speaker 9: And we're in the quarterfinal round now. The games I
- 31:53Speaker 9: just mentioned were all quarterfinals or later. And of course
- 31:56Speaker 9: the US Japan game to decide that classic was so
- 32:00Speaker 9: the last one to me was really special, but this
- 32:04Speaker 9: one has every potential to be the same.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Well, Ken, thank you.

- 32:20Speaker 2: the bat flips, I am here for the fun, I
- 32:23Speaker 2: am here for the parties. And listen, if you watch
- 32:25Speaker 2: A Venezuela, A Dominican or any of those games, if
- 32:28Speaker 2: you're not smiling, when they hit a home run. No
- 32:30Speaker 2: matter what team you're rooting for, then you're doing it wrong.

- 33:08Speaker 6: Now we get to welcome John Birdie, native of Troy, Michigan,
- 33:12Speaker 6: but today Italy Italian as Italian can get John, You've
- 33:18Speaker 6: been having an incredible, incredible tournament for the four and
- 33:22Speaker 6: zero Italians. What is this vibe feeling like and where's
- 33:26Speaker 6: the team going from here?
- 33:29Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean it's been a ton of fun. I
- 33:31Speaker 11: haven't had this much fun playing baseball in a long time,
- 33:34Speaker 11: and we have a really good group of guys and
- 33:36Speaker 11: it's been a lot of fun to be around. And so,
- 33:39Speaker 11: you know, we're taking it one day at a time.
- 33:40Speaker 11: We got to work out today and preparing for Puerto Rico.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Hey, so you look, you look a little sluggish. You
- 33:47Speaker 4: look a little tired.
- 33:48Speaker 5: Have you not been getting a little bit of that
- 33:51Speaker 5: that espresso, cappuccino whatever you guys are drinking over there?
- 33:55Speaker 11: Uh, probably having too much of it. So I'm staying
- 33:57Speaker 11: up too late. So uh, that's good, that's fun. I
- 34:00Speaker 11: don't know how viny three of them, so I'm not
- 34:03Speaker 11: sure what time he fell asleep the other night.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I wanted to ask about that a little bit.
- 34:08Speaker 5: Who came up with the idea and who's making the
- 34:11Speaker 5: batch there, because sometimes it looks like guys are a
- 34:14Speaker 5: little fire too fired up, you know what I'm saying.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Yeah, we had a little trial and error.
- 34:20Speaker 11: I'm not sure exactly who came up with it, but uh,
- 34:22Speaker 11: the first first couple of times we did it, we
- 34:25Speaker 11: were making it right away and so guys were taking
- 34:28Speaker 11: it and just burning their mouth. So we kind of
- 34:31Speaker 11: came up with a little system of making it. Maybe
- 34:33Speaker 11: a little sooner, or adding a little cold water to
- 34:36Speaker 11: it to to help help help go down easier.
- 34:41Speaker 2: John Kratch mentioned you're from Michigan, okay, And I get
- 34:45Speaker 2: that your your your.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Heritage is Italian.
- 34:48Speaker 2: But was there a little bit of you rooting for
- 34:50Speaker 2: the USA to get through so you guys might get
- 34:52Speaker 2: a chance to play him again or were you just
- 34:55Speaker 2: like completely Italian screw the USA.
- 35:00Speaker 11: I mean, I can't say that part, but no, it's
- 35:03Speaker 11: just we're going out here to win. So whatever happened happened.
- 35:06Speaker 11: So I had some buddies from the other team texting
- 35:09Speaker 11: me and we're just having some fun with it. But
- 35:12Speaker 11: now we came out to win every game, and so
- 35:16Speaker 11: fortunately for the US it worked out.
- 35:20Speaker 6: One of the things that AJ's brought up is like
- 35:23Speaker 6: the US is a little hamstrung with their pitching. Can
- 35:26Speaker 6: you attest to being on another team besides the American
- 35:29Speaker 6: team that your pitching is hamstrung too, just because of
- 35:33Speaker 6: all the regulations or do you feel like do you
- 35:36Speaker 6: feel like Francisco Savelli has carte blanche and he's just
- 35:39Speaker 6: able to throw out there whoever he wants to throw
- 35:42Speaker 6: out there.
- 35:43Speaker 11: No, Unfortunately, yeah, we have a ton of restrictions as well.
- 35:46Speaker 11: Just most of our pitchers are affiliated with an organization,
- 35:51Speaker 11: so yeah, it can be kind of tough to maneuver.
- 35:54Speaker 11: But our starting pitching has done a great job for
- 35:58Speaker 11: us and getting deeper into games, which has been which
- 36:01Speaker 11: has been huge, So we hope for the same come Saturday.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Real quick, if you don't mind moving your camera over
- 36:09Speaker 5: just a little bit maybe the other way.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Sorry, perfect.
- 36:14Speaker 5: My question to you is you got all these guys
- 36:16Speaker 5: coming with Italian heritage. You guys come together, heard the
- 36:20Speaker 5: flights are great, everybody come together. What's one guy on
- 36:23Speaker 5: this team who you you know, maybe heard of or
- 36:26Speaker 5: haven't heard of where you're.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Kind of glueing too, You're like, you're you're.
- 36:30Speaker 5: Hanging out with all the time, like because there's a
- 36:32Speaker 5: lot of different animals on this team, there's a lot
- 36:34Speaker 5: of different perspectives.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Give me a guy that you think.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Right now or that you know that you're you're getting
- 36:40Speaker 5: even friendlier with.
- 36:43Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, honestly, it's just crazy how close we've
- 36:46Speaker 11: gotten in such a quick period of time just with
- 36:48Speaker 11: the whole team in general. And so I don't know
- 36:50Speaker 11: if there is one name. It's just been great to
- 36:53Speaker 11: get to know everybody, and obviously Vinnie's got the big
- 36:56Speaker 11: personality and he's been the leader of this clubhouse and
- 36:59Speaker 11: he gets all the credit in the world for having
- 37:02Speaker 11: us as close as we are and helping this be
- 37:04Speaker 11: such a fun experience for everybody.
- 37:07Speaker 7: You guys are four to oh so far.
- 37:09Speaker 6: If it doesn't end up in a championship, is this
- 37:11Speaker 6: an unsuccessful tournament for Team Italy.
- 37:16Speaker 11: I mean, we're not looking at it that way. We're
- 37:18Speaker 11: just trying to take it, you know, one day at
- 37:20Speaker 11: a time. And obviously the last two games probably were
- 37:23Speaker 11: the two biggest wins in Italian baseball history, and so
- 37:27Speaker 11: that's been tremendous. But we haven't reached our goal yet,
- 37:30Speaker 11: and our our goal is to get to Miami and beyond.
- 37:33Speaker 11: So we have a you know, really tough team coming
- 37:36Speaker 11: up with Puerto Rico, and we gotta be ready for him.
- 37:41Speaker 3: John Vinni.
- 37:42Speaker 2: If Vinnie is the leader, so he would be the godfather, right,
- 37:45Speaker 2: he's the godfather. He's doing the double the double kisses
- 37:48Speaker 2: who's like the capo? If he's the godfather, who are
- 37:51Speaker 2: his capo's and his consiglieri? Who are his underlings that
- 37:56Speaker 2: he's teaching the Italian way.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:59Speaker 11: I mean, we have a bunch of young guys that
- 38:01Speaker 11: are that are really talented that Sam Antonacci has just
- 38:06Speaker 11: been a stone cold killer for us. Andrew Fisher has
- 38:09Speaker 11: been great. We have a ton of young guys and
- 38:11Speaker 11: I'm probably missing out on a handful of them. So
- 38:15Speaker 11: they've all been asking a lot of questions and trying
- 38:18Speaker 11: to learn as best they can. And they're extremely talented,
- 38:22Speaker 11: so they're trying to lean on the veteran guys like
- 38:25Speaker 11: Vinnie and myself and Attavino and some of the guys
- 38:28Speaker 11: that we have here, and so it's been a good mix.
- 38:32Speaker 5: I want to talk a little bit about Andrew Fisher.
- 38:34Speaker 5: Jersey Boy lives down the street actually from me. He's
- 38:37Speaker 5: like fifteen to twenty minutes. I've been talking to him
- 38:40Speaker 5: a lot. He's saying this is probably the best well,
- 38:43Speaker 5: it is the best experience for him because he's a
- 38:45Speaker 5: younger guy. He's a really good baseball player.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Talker.
- 38:50Speaker 5: Just talk about this experience and you know, not only
- 38:52Speaker 5: just being on the Italian team, but just they call
- 38:55Speaker 5: it an exhibition. This is an exhibition to me, this
- 38:58Speaker 5: is more baseball at h go go into how awesome
- 39:02Speaker 5: this has been and you know, you guys are exceeding
- 39:06Speaker 5: all expectations here.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Man, to be honest with you, so talk a little
- 39:09Speaker 4: bit about that.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:11Speaker 11: Like I said, it's honestly the most fun I've had
- 39:13Speaker 11: playing this game in a long time. And it's their
- 39:16Speaker 11: playoff atmospheres. It feels like a playoff game. You know,
- 39:18Speaker 11: this doesn't feel like March. It feels like October. And
- 39:20Speaker 11: so it's awesome for especially young guys like Fish and
- 39:25Speaker 11: a handful of them to get this kind of experience
- 39:28Speaker 11: that they can lean on hopefully when you know, down
- 39:31Speaker 11: there further down in their careers, when when they're playing
- 39:34Speaker 11: in October for the respective team. So yeah, the crowds
- 39:38Speaker 11: have been great, especially the last couple of nights, and
- 39:41Speaker 11: we expect to have a pretty big crowd again on
- 39:43Speaker 11: Saturday and then hopefully onto Miami.
- 39:46Speaker 6: All right, we're going to talk about you. What the heck, man,
- 39:50Speaker 6: why do you not have a job yet? Is our
- 39:51Speaker 6: guy Storm not doing enough work?
- 39:54Speaker 1: Now?
- 39:55Speaker 4: He is? He is?
- 39:55Speaker 11: He's bugging me all the time. So I just h yeah,
- 39:58Speaker 11: I just want to enjoy the w BC, enjoy this
- 40:01Speaker 11: experience and kind of see what comes from it. And
- 40:05Speaker 11: sit down with my family and if there's an opportunity
- 40:07Speaker 11: that excites us, then then we'll go from there.
- 40:12Speaker 6: What does that what does that look like in a
- 40:13Speaker 6: sense of what is your off season look like because
- 40:16Speaker 6: of how your season ended last year and then going
- 40:19Speaker 6: into it knowing what you can still give. What kind
- 40:22Speaker 6: of conversations do you have or is it all storm
- 40:25Speaker 6: your agent storm, cursion bomb, big shout out, also my agent.
- 40:29Speaker 1: He's gonna love that. He's gonna text me about that.
- 40:32Speaker 11: No, it's been spend some time with the family, which
- 40:35Speaker 11: has been really good, and I have a young daughter,
- 40:38Speaker 11: so been fun to be be at home for that,
- 40:41Speaker 11: and then just kind of started training again like a
- 40:43Speaker 11: regular off season and seeing what was kind of out there,
- 40:46Speaker 11: and when this opportunity arose, it was a no brainer
- 40:50Speaker 11: for me and super pumped. I did it And you know,
- 40:53Speaker 11: we'll make those other life decisions after after this is over.
- 40:57Speaker 2: John, John, does this help or hurt you? You think,
- 40:59Speaker 2: because I'm like, Eric, well, how do you not have
- 41:01Speaker 2: a big league job. You're a big league player, You're
- 41:04Speaker 2: going in the WBC, You're hitting homers off big league pitchers.
- 41:08Speaker 2: This isn't you know this isn't you're facing college guys.
- 41:11Speaker 2: I mean, you're facing legitimate big league dudes in big games, right,
- 41:15Speaker 2: I mean, this isn't. Again, there's thirty thousand people forty
- 41:18Speaker 2: there's five million people watching these games every night on Fox.
- 41:22Speaker 2: So do you think this helps your case for a
- 41:24Speaker 2: job next year or do you think teams look at
- 41:26Speaker 2: it and go, ah, it doesn't really matter?
- 41:28Speaker 3: Because to me this matters.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean to me, it matters.
- 41:31Speaker 11: And so I'm playing like it's, you know, the World Series,
- 41:35Speaker 11: you know, and we're taking it that seriously. And I
- 41:39Speaker 11: think as competitors that's all you can do. Anyways, I
- 41:41Speaker 11: kind of treat every game, whether it's a spring training
- 41:44Speaker 11: game or regular season playoff game, doesn't matter. It's you know,
- 41:47Speaker 11: you're trying to win. You're competing against the guys across
- 41:50Speaker 11: from you, and so I think it helps. But I'm
- 41:53Speaker 11: not too worried about that part of it. So they'll
- 41:55Speaker 11: see what they see, and you know, if if an
- 41:58Speaker 11: opportunity comes, then then great.
- 42:01Speaker 4: You kind of alluded to a Puerto Rico.
- 42:03Speaker 5: I mean, have you guys talked a little bit about
- 42:05Speaker 5: the game plan or how is it in there? How
- 42:09Speaker 5: Survelli is he just hey, guys, go out and play,
- 42:11Speaker 5: or you guys have a little bit of a game plan.
- 42:13Speaker 5: Who's throwing How you guys kind of perceive this game,
- 42:17Speaker 5: and how do you feel going into playing it? You know,
- 42:19Speaker 5: a really good team Molina's team in Puerto Rico.
- 42:23Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, no, Servey does a great job with with
- 42:26Speaker 11: this group of keeping it loose. But at the same time,
- 42:29Speaker 11: we still have some meetings and stuff like that just
- 42:31Speaker 11: to be aware of certain things, you know, on the
- 42:34Speaker 11: advanced side of it, and having our hitters meeting and
- 42:38Speaker 11: stuff like that. So now we'll be we'll be as
- 42:40Speaker 11: prepared as we can be. We know Puerto Rico is
- 42:44Speaker 11: a great team when we just faced USA in Mexico,
- 42:47Speaker 11: so it'll be another really good test. And there's all
- 42:50Speaker 11: really good teams left, so there's no no easy game
- 42:54Speaker 11: here and we're excited about the challenge.
- 42:57Speaker 6: Jack hagleone, I would say Firmer Deny most power on
- 43:02Speaker 6: the team.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I mean he just its balls really really hard.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Okay, so we'll tell Vinny that he has more power
- 43:10Speaker 6: than quote from John Birdie.
- 43:12Speaker 7: That's totally fine. I love that.
- 43:14Speaker 6: But what do you when you look at a guy
- 43:16Speaker 6: like that when you look at a guy like that
- 43:17Speaker 6: who's just coming into the big leagues, it took you
- 43:20Speaker 6: a long time to get to the big leagues. Does
- 43:23Speaker 6: it make you feel like the game of baseball because
- 43:26Speaker 6: you're playing on an international stage and you said how
- 43:28Speaker 6: much fun it is. The game of baseball can be
- 43:30Speaker 6: played by so many different people. And Jack Hagle own
- 43:33Speaker 6: looks like the prototypical chiseled out baseball player playing with
- 43:38Speaker 6: your blue hair John Birdie old age, all on the
- 43:42Speaker 6: same field and you both are having success.
- 43:46Speaker 1: That's the beauty of baseball.
- 43:47Speaker 11: You know, abilities come in all shapes and sizes, and
- 43:51Speaker 11: obviously it would be nice to be his size. It
- 43:54Speaker 11: would have maybe helped me get to the big leagues
- 43:56Speaker 11: a little quicker, but you know, I wouldn't trade my
- 43:59Speaker 11: journey for anything. And he's got a long, long career
- 44:04Speaker 11: ahead of him, and it's been fun to watch.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Crouch.
- 44:09Speaker 2: John Krauts has a crush on CAGs. I'm just letting
- 44:11Speaker 2: you know, just so you know that I'll let him know.
- 44:16Speaker 2: That's all right.
- 44:18Speaker 6: We actually that's perfect because I'm the one that's supposed
- 44:20Speaker 6: to thank you to leave, and I'll be the one
- 44:22Speaker 6: to say that I said that, look at look at agent.
- 44:25Speaker 6: He can't even stop smiling, like he's like, he's blushing
- 44:28Speaker 6: right now. He is the biggest Florida Gator fan. He
- 44:31Speaker 6: never went to Florida. He is the biggest Jack Cagly
- 44:35Speaker 6: owned fan. When he was sitting next to him, so
- 44:37Speaker 6: think about this when you sit next to tags in
- 44:39Speaker 6: the dugout or a practice today, he was just looking
- 44:42Speaker 6: at him the whole time.
- 44:43Speaker 1: He's like, wow, Wow, just blushing.
- 44:47Speaker 7: He was blushing.
- 44:48Speaker 6: We were at Kansas City Camp. We almost got kicked out.
- 44:50Speaker 6: He now has a restraining order. He can't get within
- 44:53Speaker 6: fifty feet of CAGs.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Family friends, crouds. You should try, You should try having
- 44:56Speaker 3: family friends.
- 44:58Speaker 6: Nervous, nervous. Now he's his family into it. He knows
- 45:01Speaker 6: his family follows him on Facebook, but AJ so that's
- 45:04Speaker 6: only has his Facebook. I appreciate you. We are as
- 45:09Speaker 6: much as we were cheering for you guys to win.
- 45:12Speaker 6: As Americans, we definitely love to see you guys beat
- 45:17Speaker 6: Puerto Rico, continue to move on, and we're cheering for
- 45:20Speaker 6: you no matter what happens.
- 45:21Speaker 7: So thank you for coming on.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Appreciate it, guys.
- 45:31Speaker 6: This is our favorite time right now to check out
- 45:33Speaker 6: how much money Todd is gonna make us when we
- 45:36Speaker 6: check out our money bags.
- 45:37Speaker 7: But he's not up there right now.
- 45:39Speaker 6: That's okay, Scottie Braun's up ninety three, everyone else's even.
- 45:43Speaker 6: So it's positive early on in the season. This is
- 45:46Speaker 6: spring training for everybody. So we're gonna go over our
- 45:48Speaker 6: picks for tonight. We'll go first Todd, then AJ, and
- 45:52Speaker 6: then I'll bring us up with the coin flip of
- 45:55Speaker 6: whether I'm right or wrong.
- 45:57Speaker 5: Yeah, So, I mean, for me, I alluded to this earlier.
- 46:00Speaker 5: I think team I said wins the game. Do I
- 46:03Speaker 5: think they win the game convincingly?
- 46:05Speaker 4: I don't.
- 46:05Speaker 5: I think they have a good time playing. I think
- 46:08Speaker 5: they win a close ball game. So I'm gonna go
- 46:10Speaker 5: Canada plus four and a half, you know, hoping that
- 46:15Speaker 5: USA comes through here. But Canada has one of their
- 46:17Speaker 5: better teams they've had in a long time. A lot
- 46:20Speaker 5: of guys are professionals, and we'll see what happens there.
- 46:24Speaker 4: Well.
- 46:25Speaker 2: As much as we're riotting for the USA, Todd, I
- 46:27Speaker 2: don't mind that, bet. I actually thought about going that
- 46:29Speaker 2: we're out because I think it will be closer than
- 46:32Speaker 2: the experts say with the minus four. Now, so I
- 46:35Speaker 2: actually love that bettab but I'm going a different route here.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I just think there's gonna be a lot of run
- 46:39Speaker 2: scored in this game on both sides. I know Logan Web,
- 46:42Speaker 2: but I think one of the Nailer boys will get
- 46:44Speaker 2: a big hit. I'm just taking the over. I'm going
- 46:46Speaker 2: over nine and a half. That seems like a low
- 46:48Speaker 2: number for me. With the power on these two teams
- 46:50Speaker 2: and the pitching on these two teams, I just feel
- 46:53Speaker 2: like there's gonna be some run scored. And I think
- 46:56Speaker 2: Canada can score runs with the USA. That's why I
- 46:58Speaker 2: like Todd's bet. But I'm going over nine and a
- 47:00Speaker 2: half and that's minus one fifteen.
- 47:02Speaker 6: I mean, let's let's see if we can see if
- 47:05Speaker 6: we can parlay that jone or something. I mean, that's
- 47:07Speaker 6: some extra so I'll take care of that for the boys.
- 47:09Speaker 6: But I'm going the exact same. I'm going over nine
- 47:12Speaker 6: and a half minus one fifteen, so let's make.
- 47:16Speaker 7: Sure everybody gets a nice little victory.
- 47:20Speaker 4: I love that.
