Transcript
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: Hello and welcome to Slander and Slay.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: I am Tracy Sandler, the Slander part of this production, joined by the wonderful Nikki Kay, the Slay part of this production.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: Hi, Nikki.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Woo! Trace, how are you feeling?
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Are we in therapy right now?
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: What how are let's go through the motions?
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: Let's go through the motions.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: You know, so for those of you who may not know what we are talking about, the Dodgers are down 3-0 to the Milwaukee Brewers.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: I am a diehard, diehard, diehard, diehard Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: And not just that, you are a showgirl.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: You are showgirl.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: I am showgirl.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: I am showgirl, and I'm a diehard Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: So down 3-0 does not feel great.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: However, I'm gonna preface this with something I've been thinking about a lot over the last week and even going into the series.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: I can't be really, really upset when they are coming off back-to-back World Series wins.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Like it would be so cool for them to win a third.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: You know, I I love them so much, but like they've just won back-to-back World Series, which is quite the accomplishment.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Winning three is so difficult that only three teams have done it in the history of baseball, the last one being the Yankees at the turn of the century.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: And so I'm boys are tired too.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: The boys are tired, and I really am glad you brought that up because the Dodgers have played more baseball than anyone else in baseball the last two years because they are the only ones that have made they've gone that far uh twice.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: And they're tired, they're older, it's true.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: They're older, sorry.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Sorry, that's that's kind of I don't yeah, I don't like it.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: But it's true, like yeah, but it's like but they are.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: I mean, they jokingly they call it the dinosaurs, but I think that takes a toll.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: I even would say in the World Series last year that 18 inning game three, remember the Dodgers win it and on the Freddie Freeman walk-off, and then they lose the next two games.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: And I honestly felt like they're a much older team than the other guys.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: That 18-inning game had a more of a effect on them physically than it did on the Blue Jays at the time of the Dodgers.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: I want to add to like you said, you've been thinking about it for the past week, and I've been thinking about this also.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: There, you know, there is magic in baseball and yes, and uh how that determines games and outcomes.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: It's not it's not just uh performance.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: There, I I truly believe there's magic.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: And there is the Dodgers had a lot of magic in game seven of the World Series last year, you know, and it's like they they might have they might have gotten their their magic's worth.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: If that makes sense to me, right?
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Or is to you, you know what I'm saying?
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: It's yeah, oh for sure.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: They can't hit they can't hit a baseball.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: Well, and I think and honestly, that goes back to that game seven, that the world series.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: I mean, they were having trim, it wasn't this bad, but they were having a lot of trouble.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: And I think the other thing that I would like to point out, and I noticed that fans often have a very hard time with this, but sometimes the other team is just better.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: And the right now, the Milwaukee Brewers are a better baseball team.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: They they're so fun.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: They are fun.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: If if I wasn't they, I mean, and if they beat the Dodgers, I'll root for them to win it all.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: First of all, I would always rather lose.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: I know people it's like a hot take.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: I would always rather lose to the winner than lose to the loser.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Um, but they're fun and they're likable, and why not?
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: But they're also very, very good at baseball, and they are a better team than the Dodgers right now.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And that's the case.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: And it's interesting, I think, you know, like let's say we get a Brewers Guardians World Series, like not great for the casuals of the sport, but boy, is it excellent baseball.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: And I I want to give some love to Jake Bowers because speaking of like tremendous that, yeah, in in what was it, game two, he had that seven-minute at bat where he drew the lock, right?
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And but it comes out, you know, and then he had the two-run bomb in game three, and which kind of like put the nail in the coffin for the doctors, and like you hear the story of how two years ago he almost retired, you know, and he stayed in.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: I think something about his wife being pregnant and he for the health insurance, and like, yeah, that's a really cool story of resilience, which like epitomizes the whole brewer's mindset, you know, the David's out of Milwaukee.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: I I really enjoy um the resilience they've had on display.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: And I also this whole thing, I know it was more of a thing last season, but it really didn't feel it doesn't feel like David versus Goliath to me.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: They're the best team in baseball.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: They've been the best team in baseball the entire season.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: They won more games than anybody else.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: They've had tremendous pitching, tremendous defense, they play small ball, they hit the home run when they have to.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: Like they're not to me this.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: I know last year they really like leaned into the David versus Glynn team.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: This year, I don't think that was the case.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: They're the they're the better team, you know.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Not it's not impossible.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: The Dodgers could come back, they're probably not going to, but they probably could come back.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: But I think I see Dodger fans doing a lot of the blame game, and I want to talk about that for a minute.
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: Because first of all, it is no one person's fault.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: They are all responsible for this.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: And Dave Roberts is getting a lot of hate and whatever for man how he managed the bottom of the sixth inning last on in game three.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Do I think it was his best management experience?
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: No.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: However, by the same token, I understand.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: I think the worst thing was the burning of Dapala.
- 6:08SPEAKER_02: So they announced what Jose Dapala, the Brewers make a pitching change.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: They were going to make that pitching change, anyways, at that point, because your rebay had just given up that two uh RBI hit to Will Smith that was like a millimeter, whatever from being a home run, two feet from being a home run.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: And so then he they make the change and he decides not to put DePaula and he burns Dapala.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: So now he has no anti pause and a Pa Paula.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: Okay, fine.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: But that aside, he doesn't trust his offense right now.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: And by the way, don't blame him.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: There's he has no reason to trust that.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: He has no, he he's no offense.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Everything he possibly can to get something.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: That's where I take the umbridge.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: I just wanted to finish that thought for one second and then go back to the umbrage.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: The he doesn't trust his offense right now.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: So I understand why he thought, you know what, I'm gonna put in Kiki Hernandez and Max Muncie, two people who have shown me over time that they can get a hit here.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: And maybe Jose would have gotten hit.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Maybe who knows?
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: I mean, it was the burning of him that I think is what people have the biggest issue with.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: But at the end of the day, he's managing as best he can under the circumstances of which he has been given by his team.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: And so I think this ripping into him, I don't like it.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: And so please continue with your umbrella.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: No, I've stayed away from that discourse because and someone made a comment on something that's like, well, Dave Roberts is about to manage his way to the Dodgers getting swept in the NLCS.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: And I said, I think you really need to reassess what you're watching because um, at the end of the day, the players, the back-to-back World Series chants, can't hit the baseball.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: They can't hit the baseball.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And I don't think they would ever blame Dave, like that blame isn't coming from within the clubhouse.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: And I do love how he's tried everything.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Like, let's move Shoe into six, like let's you know, whatever.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: And by the way, that worked.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there are people also there are people, and I think that there are people who need clicks and listens.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so they say things to get them.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: And I'm seeing this morning that was a mistake, they should have benched Shohei.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, Shohei had a single walk, he got hit by a pitch and he scored a run.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: So, and then someone said to me this morning, Well, but for someone else, that's a great night.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: I'm like, he got hit by a pitch and he walked.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: Like, what else?
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: What I mean, like, I don't know what else he could have done.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: And that hit was a big hit.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: And in fairness to Shohei, and I know there's been so there was so much discourse about this.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: He actually has he been great?
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: No, has he struggled?
- 8:29SPEAKER_02: He doesn't look like himself, all of the things.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: But in games one and two, he he scored two runs, he stole bases, he had a hit, he walked, like he did contribute.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: They haven't scored a lot of runs, and he's running three of them in these few days.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: He did contribute, so I'm not saying he's been great, I'm not saying he's a but I just think I know.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: You gotta come to all defend his face, you gotta defend the phone.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: I do, I do man's honor.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: And I did yesterday, I think I did yesterday on um on I did a reel before I went to the game.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: And part of the thing I said in the reel too is if he tells if Shohei Otani, who they would not have won the last two series without, says to me adamantly that he can play and contribute, well, he's earned that right and he gets to play.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Like that is a feel I have.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: But I also think like he's getting the brunt of it because he's Shohei.
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: But the rest of the lineup has been terrible.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: In the NLCS last year, he didn't do anything until basically in the DS or NLCS, anything until obviously the greatest game ever, the the game four, but everybody else was doing their job.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: So I I kind of have this feeling, and I'm not gonna name names because I'm not looking to like single out people because this has been a team effort of a loss, of losing.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: Um, and they next week if they've come back and some Rack is fan and we're eating our words, great, no problem.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: But I felt like in game one, when they had the bases loaded on Ms.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Rowski with one out, and they hit into a double play.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: And I'm not gonna say who did it, but they hit it.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: It was not Showhead, though.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: They hit into a double play.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: I in that moment felt like they may have just lost the series.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Like you had their ace on the road.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: You knew the omen.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: You knew the omen.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: He had pitched 35 pitches.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: It was think it was the second inning.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: He'd had to pitch like 35 pitches in that inning.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: They had got like this, was that was their moment, and the fact that they couldn't bring anyone home, I was like, this is kind of an encapsulation of what's gone on the last few months, and this may be where they lose the series, and it's not ideal, but like it's it's hard to be that upset about it.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: No, and conversely, conversely, it was like in 2024, my friend and I were just talking about this when we saw Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam in game one against the Yankees.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Series was over.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, knew that, and like if they had lost that game, it could have actually gone the Yankees way, you know, and that's just how lopsided there's the magic.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're talking about the little bit of the magic, yeah.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: And so I listen, I think there's nothing there should be nothing but gratitude for this team, and yeah, it's frustrating, but you know what?
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: Like, sometimes the juice has been poured, you know, like the juice runs out.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: The juice we are out of juice, yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: There a lot of times there's not even this much juice.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Like, come on, we've had yeah, like three incredible years of Dodger baseball.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: So I just yeah, it's it's it's a little bit spoiled and blind sight, like like blindsight.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know what I'm saying.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: No, I don't believe that.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: I totally agree with you.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna I'm gonna do a reel.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: I was talking to my mom about this morning and I was like, I think I'm gonna do a reel on this later.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: And she said, You should, you sound very articulate, which I have no, I can't remember what I said, but it's something along these lines.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: Um, but I think like it's just I just think I I did tweet after game two, I'm having a hard time I have a hard time ripping into a manager and a bunch of guys who just went back to back worlds.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I really feel the way like I don't understand this, and and the idea that everyone has in their head that if the if he had done it different in the bottom of the sixth, they would have won the game.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: I don't know, you have no idea.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: You have absolutely no idea if that's true or not true.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: You really don't.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: So, you know, and he's kind of got what he's got, he has to deal with what he's been given.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: And I think in game two, I saw somebody tweeted what a disaster how he managed it.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: In game two, his ace, and I'm not blaming Yamamoto, Yamamoto's been tremendous and everyone has a bad day, but his ace had a bad day and gave him two and a third innings.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: That changes how you have to manage the rest of the game.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: That does change how you have to manage your bullpen, that does change who comes in, that does change how long they come in for.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: I understand Roky not pitching two innings in that game because he knew he was gonna need Rokie in this game.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't know.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: I just think like it's real easy to backseat manage, which is like I've been calling it.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: But in those moments and those decisions, and you know what?
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Dave Roberts knows his players better than all of us.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: He knows what they can and cannot do, and he's done everything to try to put them in the best position.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: They have not produced.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: And I'm not mad at them, it's just the way it has been.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: Though I did do that funny TikTok you sent me the other day.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, that was.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, hey, the the bobbleheads might need to get a little bit stronger with their words.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: The bobbleheads might need to get stronger with their words, and that's you know, you gotta have the fun with it.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: Um, but you guys, if you missed it, you should go to my Instagram.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: It's funny.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: If I too say so myself, inspired by Nikki K.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: What do you think about that?
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what do you think about Guardian's race?
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: So they're at one one.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: I think I think that's kind of I don't the Guardians feel to me like they have magic.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: They feel a little magic.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna get a Midwest two nuts series?
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna get a Midwest world?
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: You know what's gonna be really upsetting for that is for all of the we the lockout that's the Dodger's fault.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: We're gonna have a lockout, and then there'll be no reason to have a lockout, and they're gonna have one anyways, because at the end of the day, it's just about the owners wanting a salary.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: It's not right, and they could use any excuse that they want.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: Uh, I mean a Midwest World Series, why not?
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: That sounds fun, right?
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: We don't mind a Midwest Super Bowl.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: No, I know, why not?
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Get yeah, yeah, give us all the all the Midwest uh allure, and you know what?
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: Fans will have to make a short commute, a very short commute.
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: I actually think that's great.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: If you're between Cleveland and Milwaukee, like so easy.
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: Just say Dodge back and forth.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: I mean, that sounds fun.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna we'll ask the crazy fantasy questions.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: So let's pretend, let's pretend the Dodgers pull out a win tonight.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Let's pretend for the sake of argument.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: They pull out a win tonight, they got Scuba on the mound tomorrow, they pull out a win tomorrow, they got Yamamoto on the mound Sunday.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: Like, I what would have to happen for you to be like, okay, maybe they are gonna do this.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: I don't think they are, but what would have to happen?
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: I think the the prevailing thought I heard last night, because you know, I love listening to radio after losses because it's like you get some of the most honest discourse, you get some crazy discourse, it's but it's to me it's better than social media comments, right?
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Like, oh, for sure.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I was driving home listening to Dave Vasset, and he I love it, he was like, you know, if the Dodgers can get it to a game six, like then you might as well be betting on the the reigning champs because it's like then things start tightening up, and if you get Yamamoto on the mound and you get a team that's found some rhythm and rhyme, and who knows, like you know, and and what greater story for this team to be in a 0-3 hole facing the biggest adversity since the 2004 Boston Red Sox, led none other by Dave Roberts, Roberts, you know, like that would be insane for my cortisol levels.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: It would not be great.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: No, it would not be great, however, it would be it would be it would be pretty cool.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: So I'm I'm curious on tonight.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm I mean, we'll see.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: They're gonna play the game in several hours.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: You and I are both gonna be there to see it happen.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: Uh, but I am curious if they can pull it out tonight.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: I think if they can pull it out tonight, everything becomes obviously if they can't, the series is over.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: But if show me something, like everything's but this is the well-earned arrogance of Dodger fans because like I swear, no all the fans in those stadium last night were like, no, we're winning this one, you know?
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: And it's like we have the audacity to be like down three-nothing in a series where they haven't shown any signs of a heartbeat.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: No signs, no.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: If they can win tonight, maybe if they can win tonight.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: Well, they show, you know, it's like here, you know what has happened in the series, and this is where they're just not in sync, clearly.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: Um, is every time they show a heartbeat, they can't hold it.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: So, like, there's such an exciting inning.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: They go up to like life's part, they go up to one, the stadium is going nuts, everyone's excited, and then Snell gives up the two run home run.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: And listen, I feel for Snell, he pitched so well, yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: He pitched so so well last night, and that kind of like a little bit broke my heart for him because yeah, he really it was like just you know, and I was kind of shocked he went back out in the seventh, but I guess like that's what you're holding on to, you know.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Like I thought so, and then I was kind of surprised after the walk that he didn't take him out, but then I also get that these are the decisions they have to make.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, I also get why he didn't, you know.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: So um, but I don't know, we'll see.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: I mean, listen, if they could you're right.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: It's and the and even in game two, they had many moments of magic where they kept coming back, and then the brewers would come back in the next inning, and that's the thing.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: They like they can't seem to hold on to it.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I don't know.
- 17:53SPEAKER_02: We'll see.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: I think I mean the Brewers are pitching a bullpen game, but I think what everybody forgets with a bullpen game when I see fans get upset, like, oh my god, they're pitching a bullpen game.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: We can't get a hit.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: That's my fan annoyed fan.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: I love my annoyed fan's like, I can't get a hit, it's a bullpen game.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: This is ridiculous.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: When you're playing a bullpen game, you only see every pitcher so long.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so it actually makes sense that it is hard to do.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: Really, really good.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: Now, the and the only thing last night I kind of was not surprised by a rebate struggles because I was like, he's been used a lot, he's tired, and they've now seen him a lot, they've seen him every day in the series.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: Um, but they do have a really, really, really good bullpen.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: So I, you know, we'll see.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: I mean, let's see.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: It would be nice if they could win tonight and not get swept, but also by the same token, does it really matter?
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: I know there's there's a part of me that I'm like, it feels really sad.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Then there's a part of me that wants them to win, and then there's a part of me that's like, oh my gosh, like I, you know, what the the inevitability of it feels very like it's like closing in, you know.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, all right.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: But gotta keep it.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna be honest with you all, because I am a fan and I do not pretend to be a member of the media when it comes to the Dodgers at all.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: Um, if they win tonight, I am going to start being like, well, they have they have school tomorrow.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: As you didn't win tomorrow, you know, as I should, as I should.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: So I think that's fair.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: So we'll see.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Let's just for fun take a poll between the two of us.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: Do you think they win the game tonight?
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna say yes, because I'm a I'm a glass half full kind of gal.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: Me too.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: Why not?
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: Also, why not?
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: They're gonna win or they're gonna lose.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: We might as well think they're gonna win.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: There's like what's those sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: It's not gonna rain here in LA, so it's gonna be one of the other two.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: So that's right.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Okay, so that is that.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: Um, should be fun, should be fun.
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: But I our plea to Dodger fans is to take a breath and kind of remember how cool it's been no matter what happens.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: This is and when people complain this is like pre-2024.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: I mean, this team's been in the playoffs for 14 years.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: They've been to how nine national league championship series, they won three world series.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: Like, there are a lot of teams that would love to be in this position.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: So calm down, calm down, calm down.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: It's all gonna be fine.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: It is all gonna be fine.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: All right, with that, we're gonna sign off in a second, but we're gonna ask a one quick football question because it is Thursday, it's a big Thursday night football game.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Broncos, Seahawks in Denver.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Broncos coming off a very weird, all their games seem to be weird.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Weird win over the Chargers, who we is a story for another time, and the Seahawks coming off a very tough, close loss to the 49ers.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: What about your 49ers?
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: The 49ers are pretty fantastic.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: They're a pretty good then quite they, you know, they always are at their best when they don't have expectation behind them.
- 20:51SPEAKER_02: So this is a good, this is a very been a good, good start for them for sure.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: Uh, but so uh Broncos don't have Pat Sertan.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: They're gonna be without Telno Hufunga a few months.
- 21:02SPEAKER_02: Those are significant because their defense is basically what's been winning them every game.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: But um I don't know.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: I think I mean I think Seahawks bounce back.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: I think the Broncos haven't shown like sustainability or consistency.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: I think what we saw from I mean, what two great games on Sunday between Seattle and San Francisco, and then I mean Monday, uh the Rams Oh and the Bills.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: That was so fun.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: The Bills, yeah.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: That was a great, you know, like I think those are emerging to be cream of the crop.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, even though the Rams lost in their special teams is a huge weakness, they've got time to kind of round into form here.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: But yeah, anyways, I'm I'm going Seahawks tonight.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: What about you?
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: I'm going Seahawks as well.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: I think I'm I I don't think it's the play calling that was the issue in Denver.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: I think it's potentially the quarterback.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: I did appreciate the quarterback's kind of long monologue, which is like maybe the most relatable thing ever yesterday, talking about his play.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: And it was like a very long, it was like I summed up, was like, you know, sometimes, man, the leaves they flow in the wind.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and sometimes they don't.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: Like I was like, God, it was so all over the place, and it was uh there were very funny tweets about it.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: Um, but it was like basically it was like sometimes it just is what it is, and I don't want to be able to do it.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: It really do be like that.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: It really 100% what it was.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: Sometimes it really do be like that.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: So until I see some changes from Bo Nicks, I wouldn't pick him, I would not pick the Broncos to win this game.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: That being said, the Broncos and the Seahawks are both teams that play in very, especially this season with the Broncos play in weird football games.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: So who knows what can happen?
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: And the Broncos are at home.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: So that yeah, and that's not an easy place to play there, but I'm with you.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: I'm going with the Seahawks.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: Awesome.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: Love it.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: All right, you guys.
