- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Today, we are talking about feedback criticism taking it on.
- 0:35And understanding that the conclusions we come to are often
- 0:40not as accurate as we think they may be.
- 0:43So, you know, I get pulled into a lot of situations to give
- 0:48feedback to people. Obviously, that's what my job
- 0:50is. And what I love to do is give
- 0:52people different perspectives and I always try to find as many
- 0:55different perspectives on a subject as I can.
- 0:58That's kind of the strength in which I dwell Because I can give
- 1:02multiple facets to something so that people have options when
- 1:06they start to think about it. And often this shows up, when
- 1:11people are talking about something that happened to them
- 1:15with them other people and their they'll bring it up and they'll
- 1:19say, well, you know, so and so said this or my boss said this
- 1:21or someone in my company's to this or and they frame it under
- 1:25the guise of feedback. So I want to be really clear
- 1:27about this criticism is extraordinary.
- 1:30Totally different than feedback feedback, gives you stuff that
- 1:35you can use, and it's given to you in a way that actually makes
- 1:38you feel like you've got something you can work with,
- 1:42Okay? Criticism breaks you down,
- 1:47psychologically, feedback, builds you up.
- 1:50And when it's done in the right format, and it's done in the
- 1:53right way, you should not leave feeling depleted.
- 1:57We often as human beings will offer information to people
- 2:02without their permission. So we'll be like, oh, that's
- 2:06gross. Why would you do that?
- 2:07Did I did it at a DA, whatever it might be and that is
- 2:11criticism whether we want to realize it or not.
- 2:14That's criticism. And we don't make people feel
- 2:16good like that. So when you start to think about
- 2:19this and you go into your your world and you're taking in
- 2:24information so you can hear something.
- 2:26But you don't Have to take it in like you've probably heard me
- 2:29say before we are we have a choice.
- 2:32If we want to be in the world or of the world or bold and for me,
- 2:37I'm in this world. But I don't feel like I'm of
- 2:39this world. I don't, I don't take in all the
- 2:41outside energy. That's - I refuse to compete to
- 2:45put myself into the deep space of the mass.
- 2:48Mind, I won't do it. It's to depleting its to - it's
- 2:53too toxic. And I refuse to go there.
- 2:57I just don't like it so it's just it's just not something
- 3:01that that works for me. So that being said, I focus more
- 3:06on going to people trusted advisors and working with them.
- 3:12And, you know, here's the funny part.
- 3:13There's a very very old quote, that Buddha said and I love this
- 3:19because it's so true. Now obviously language and
- 3:21translation are a little bit different but listen to this,
- 3:24should you find a wise critic to point?
- 3:27Your false follow him as you would a guide to Hidden
- 3:31Treasures. Now for me that really means
- 3:35getting feedback because they're giving you information about
- 3:39yourself so that you can better yourself and get to the hidden
- 3:42part of the treasures in it, not to be criticized you know.
- 3:47It's like we look so much we don't recognize how much we all
- 3:52want to get gold stars. We all want people to like us.
- 3:56We all want people. To be proud of us.
- 3:58We all want people to say great job, atta boy, Atta girl,
- 4:01whatever. And sometimes we have to do that
- 4:05for ourselves, we have to be our biggest cheerleader.
- 4:09When I, I mean in this world, I can tell you right now, my
- 4:13husband is a cheerleader of my, my daughter and my son or
- 4:16cheerleaders a mind. But I know for a fact, I am my
- 4:20biggest cheerleader and I love being able to do that for myself
- 4:23because I will take feedback from other people.
- 4:25But if I feel that someone Crossing a line and they're
- 4:28going into criticism and they're not giving me constructiveness,
- 4:31they're just being destructive. You know, there's a difference
- 4:34between the two constructive and destructive, I just don't hear
- 4:38what they have to say. I say thank you for sharing and
- 4:40I move on in my head I'm like, okay, great now sometimes is it
- 4:43hard to move on? Is it hard to say?
- 4:44I'm going to let that go. Yeah, it is, it's hard because
- 4:48it hurts us, it wounds us and all of a sudden were in 6th
- 4:51grade again. And, you know, mrs.
- 4:53Lobo is telling you you're never going to be great at math, and
- 4:56yes, that happens. To me and you know what, I just
- 5:00don't care. I don't care because she was not
- 5:04an advocate for greatness. She was an advocate for finding,
- 5:07what was wrong that whole thing about arguing for everything
- 5:10that she could find wrong all the time.
- 5:12It didn't work, it didn't help. It only broke me down and I had
- 5:17to find a way to build myself back up.
- 5:20So the point of this is, please make sure you find somebody that
- 5:26you can We Trust before you share things with that.
- 5:29You are looking for feedback on and really look and say, I'm
- 5:33looking for feedback, not criticism and when you actually
- 5:36say that to people, sometimes there are taken back there.
- 5:39Like, what do you mean? They don't even understand it.
- 5:41I want you to give me things that I can use constructively to
- 5:45help myself. I don't want the destructive
- 5:48stuff of criticism. There is a difference.
- 5:52So I hope this was helpful. I hope you find your person and
- 5:56please know I'm I'm giving you an atta boy or a girl or
- 5:59whatever you want it to be because that matter is great job
- 6:03for showing up. Great job for trying.
- 6:05All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:07I hope you have a very blessed day.
- 6:09Bye. I'm giving you an atta boy or a
- 5:58girl or whatever you want it to be because that matter is great
- 6:03job for showing up. Great job for trying.
- 6:05All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:07I hope you have a very blessed day.
- 6:09Bye.
