A legendary P-38 fighter, once flown by WWII ace Richard Bong, soared over his Wisconsin hometown—mirroring his own wartime tour—bringing history to life as pilot Steve Hinton honored Bong’s legacy. The rare “23 Skidoo” is set to fly again this weekend at the Duluth Air and Aviation Expo, while the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center continues its “Mission Marge” book drive through July 15th, supporting efforts to preserve Bong’s story and the fate of his original plane, “Marge,” lost in Papua New Guinea in 1944.
