  Speaker 2: He's here with some samples of some brownies. Just get

  Speaker 4: So we talked last week about City Weekly's Best of

  Utah cinnamon rolls. We went through what was good and

  what we think should change on that list. We're going

  to do that same thing with brownies right now. Okay, okay,

  So I'm not sure if you read the City Weeklies

  for brownies, not for brownies. Okay, So I'm going to

  start at number three. They listed the Chocolate a Dessert Cafe,

  number two, Pie Party. This is new. They just barely
• 0:47
  opened up a storefront in October. And then the number
• 0:50
  one was Kneads and I have an issue with us,
• 0:57
  and I was the one that stuck out. I'm not
• 0:59
  saying that Meters does a bad brownie, but to say
• 1:02
  that it's the top in Utah, I think a lot
• 1:05
  of people are arguing that.

  Speaker 1: So sometimes I think the thing that comes to the
• 1:09
  top is well, there's a bunch of Meters, so they're
• 1:11
  all over the place. But now the chocolate, I have
• 1:15
  not heard of the chocolate.

  Speaker 5: What is the chocolate?

  Speaker 3: Yeah?

  Speaker 4: So the Chocolate is a cafe that has one in
• 1:21
  West Jordan, a location in West Jordan that's where it started,
• 1:24
  and then a second location in Aorum and they specialize
• 1:28
  mainly in cakes, but they have a lot of other
• 1:30
  amazing things cookies and brownies, other things throughout the seasons.

  And that's who I think is going to be the
• 1:38
  top brownie. That's what I brought in for YouTube.

  Speaker 3: These are all from the chocolate.

  Speaker 4: These are all from the chocolate. So I think what

  constitutes a really good brownie is a good thickness, a
• 1:49
  really deep chocolate flavor texture to it. So I love

  that there is some crispiness to it. I am an
• 1:57
  edge lover as well, but I can do a soft

  inside and then whatever you top it has to be
• 2:04
  high quality and really work with it. And these are
• 2:07
  are really good. So we're eating right now a peppermint
• 2:09
  bark with butter cream, and then it's a salted caramel.

  That's the one, yep, with the drizzle on top, all right,
• 2:17
  and then the other one is a turtle and so
• 2:20
  it's kind of like a naked one with caramel and
• 2:22
  pecans on it, the pecans on top.

  Speaker 2: Well, now I know that there is a great love
• 2:29
  of peppermint or mint brownies, chocolate mint brownies. I don't
• 2:35
  really care for that. This, however, is good because it's
• 2:39
  not overwhelming. A lot of times a mint brownie that
• 2:42
  tastes like toothpaste or something.

  Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I will, yeah, I will say the peppermint
• 2:47
  is way better. But the chocolate does do a really
• 2:49
  good mint brownie as well. I think the same thing
• 2:52
  is that the flavoring of mints. Sometimes you can get
• 2:55
  that toothpaste for sure. So I threw this out also

  Cougar Tel, they do a bunch of other stuff. There's

  you know, the BYU Creamery.

  Speaker 4: Check to see if this is nostalgia because I remember
• 3:24
  having it. I thought it was really delicious and I
• 3:26
  don't know if that's what everybody else is drafting off of,

  you know, college memories. You're down there, you're eating brownies college.

  Another one is Gooey Gourmet. This is a shop in American.

  Speaker 3: Fork sounds good.

  Speaker 4: So this is a cake duo a I think it

  was a mother daughter and they started a bakery and
• 3:45
  then they realized that people were ordering a ton of
• 3:48
  brownies for weddings and events, and they just pivoted right
• 3:51
  into brownies. And so they've done a really good job
• 3:53
  with Gooey Gourmet brownies. Others have said Schmids don't ye.

  Speaker 5: Yeah, I like Schmidt's.

  Speaker 2: Now these three, I've tasted all three of them. The

  turtle is actually I think the best. It's my favorite.

  It's it's a brownie brownie. I mean it's it's it's

  what a brownie should be.

  Speaker 5: Plus it's got pecans on there. That's my favorite.

  Speaker 4: No, And that's the hard thing about Brownie's is I

  feel like most people can make a really good brownie

  at home, and so if you go out and get

  a brownie, it's got to be really good and differentiate
• 4:28
  from what you can get at Betty krker Box.

  Speaker 3: You know the Kodiak brown is actually pretty good.

  Speaker 4: Yeah, I've had that one. And again that you know,

  if you do something at home that's really good, it's
• 4:40
  really hard to go out. And so this is one

  I know you can go and you can pick their
• 4:45
  pastry case and so there's a lot of different flavors,

  a lot of different cakes, and so the chocolate is

  is what I would say is a highly recommended stop.

  They do a late night dessert night around like I

  think Valentine's but I think they have something going on

  around Christmas too. I'll have to check the schedule. But

  it's a fun little cafe. One in West Jordan that's

  ninety one twenty south of Redwood, and then the one

  in orm is two twelve South State Street.

  chocolate right going on right now kazukis so they'll they'll

  bake it fresh and put a scoop of ice cream

  on top. It really is a date night dessert place

  Speaker 4: So I don't like nuts. Baked into it either, but

  I will have nuts on top.

  can scrape it off and you still have the bass brownie.

  But it is very divisive whether it.

  Speaker 4: So it's a It's like a yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

  It's not my favorite cake, but I know it's their

  popular cake.

  like an almond cake and then the with some poppy

  seeds almond frosting on top. And I feel like it's

  just like that dive into an almond dream.

  Speaker 5: And the key difference for mint brownies or other baked

  sweets is that mint extract and peppermint extract taste very different.

  Most people prefer the peppermint extract flavor. Mint extract does

  taste like toothpaste, ye.

  Speaker 2: And I don't and I don't so I don't know

  why people make chocolate mint brownies.

  Speaker 3: I don't. I don't do the peppermint. Peppermint is not bad.

  Speaker 4: Yeah for sure, it's It's one of my favorites. And

  it tastes like Christmas in a square for me. Every Christmas,

  I want to that's nice, a peppermint brownie and then

  I'm good and I've already had three of them to taste.

  after the holiday. So is there anything Donut Critic Universe

  Speaker 4: So bakery there items are on sell right now for Christmas.

  They're going to be closed from the twenty fourth to

  the twenty eighth, and so if you want something on Christmas,

  you need to order it now and you need to

  pick up by the twenty third. Almost universally across the board,

  there are a few places that are open on Christmas

  Christmas Eve, but most places are closed and so get that.

  You know, if you want a good food experience, go

  to the Kringle Market. You know, that's a really fun
• 7:26
  place to experience a lot of the cones you get those.

  Speaker 3: Where is the Kringle Market the kreakle.

  Speaker 4: One is up at this is the place. So they
• 7:35
  set up a bunch of the shops. But that's just
• 7:38
  you know, something that you can go and experience in
• 7:41
  addition to eat something as well. But that's the same

  with the chocolate go in. They have the lights low,

  they have Christmas lights, listen to music, eat some desserts.

  Speaker 2: And then one quick question for you. My wife has

  been me, she's been me asking me to ask you

  this for quite some time. Where does the donut critics

  stand on apple side or donuts?

  Speaker 4: So that's just funny. I actually did a post last week.

  Crossy Ranch has the best apple cider donuts and I
• 8:09
  think they're just amazing and delicious. But they only do
• 8:12
  them on holidays or during their festivals. That's why they're
• 8:16
  so hard to catch.

  Speaker 3: But Cross c Cross e Cross So.

  Speaker 4: In North Salt Lake. They do a festival in the
• 8:24
  spring and then the fall and they're amazing.

  Speaker 3: You have to catch them.

  Speaker 4: But like I said, last week, they did a pop

  up and it sold out.

  Speaker 3: It was so delicious. All right.
