- 2:11Speaker 1: Three generations of delayy women explore the highs and lows
- 2:16Speaker 1: of modern day dating, learning that love and romance can
- 2:20Speaker 1: be found at any age and sometimes where you.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Least expect it. Alan Harmon directed Dating the Delinees. He
- 2:27Speaker 2: has a total of forty directing credits, including Fourth Down
- 2:30Speaker 2: in Love, You're Baking Me Crazy, and Never Kiss a
- 2:32Speaker 2: Man in a Christmas Weater.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm pausing there every time I see Never Kiss a
- 2:37Speaker 1: Man in a Christmaswater I think, do we need to
- 2:40Speaker 1: review that? Literally was just singing the same thing. We
- 2:43Speaker 1: need to rewatch it. We were so incredibly tough on that.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We were major haters. We were super haters in the
- 2:52Speaker 2: beginning of Girls Gone Hallmark. And sometimes I go back
- 2:55Speaker 2: and I look at our show notes, like just to
- 2:57Speaker 2: update things. I'm like wolf look him with the things
- 3:00Speaker 2: we wrote. So h oh boy, we've come a long way,
- 3:03Speaker 2: you guys.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Maybe guys, if you think if you liked Never Kiss
- 3:07Speaker 1: a Man in a Christmas Weater which also starred Nile
- 3:11Speaker 1: Mater and do you remember Ashley William Williams, Yep, it
- 3:15Speaker 1: can't be that bad. There's no way it can be
- 3:18Speaker 1: that as bad as I think I remember it, I
- 3:21Speaker 1: hear you. I agree, email us tell us if we
- 3:24Speaker 1: need to revisit that one. Jennifer Barrow wrote the screenplay.
- 3:27Speaker 1: She has twelve writing credits, including an Unexpected Valentine from
- 3:31Speaker 1: earlier this year, as well as Christmas on Call and
- 3:35Speaker 1: one of our favorites, Dater's Handbook.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Rachel Boston stars as Maggie Delaney or Cool Mom MD.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Rachel has sixty six credits, with a role in Debbi
- 3:44Speaker 2: mccumber's Joyful Missus, Miracle Field Day, and a Christmas Cookie Catastrophe.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Y'all should check out the Finding Mister Christmas episodes where
- 3:52Speaker 2: Rachel guest stars. She's fantastic, isn't she so good? Those
- 3:58Speaker 2: were the episodes where I'm like, I think I'm a
- 4:00Speaker 2: huge Rachel Boston fan.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I know, And then now seeing this movie spoiler alert,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I'm like, do I need to watch more Rachel Boston movies? Totally?
- 4:10Speaker 1: She's so toughly micable, I know. Paul Campbell, Oh, go ahead,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, also really likable in person, Like,
- 4:19Speaker 1: she was so lovely at the Hallmark Experience. You didn't
- 4:23Speaker 1: get the chance to speak to her and around I did,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and she was so nice. Yes, awesome. Paul Campbell stars
- 4:30Speaker 1: as Michael Taylor, Cool Dad MT. I don't like how
- 4:35Speaker 1: they did that. It just makes me feel embarrassed a
- 4:37Speaker 1: little bit. Any of it. That's their whole vibe is cringey.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Cringey puns. Yeah. With fifty seven acting credits under his belt,
- 4:47Speaker 1: he recently co starred in Three Wiser Men and a
- 4:50Speaker 1: Boy and even portrayed a fictionalized version of himself in
- 4:54Speaker 1: the Santa Class. He has been a steady presence on
- 4:58Speaker 1: Hallmark since twenty fifteen.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Zoe Christy plays daughter Emma, which is a handful of
- 5:03Speaker 2: acting credits. This was her first project for Homewark. She
- 5:06Speaker 2: also appears in an episode of School Spirits during season one.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Spencer Macpherson total side note, have you finished the second
- 5:17Speaker 2: season of School Spirits by chance?
- 5:20Speaker 1: No? Because we're cheap and we had unsubscribed to Paramount Plus,
- 5:24Speaker 1: but we just resubscribed. So yeah, it's like death by
- 5:29Speaker 1: a thousand streamers sometimes, so absolutely, Riley, do you finish it? No?
- 5:34Speaker 1: I haven't even finished season one yet, but like, I
- 5:37Speaker 1: have so many friends who are like, that show's so good.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You just start like unpeeling all the layers and how
- 5:45Speaker 1: things all work together, and I'm like, really, I maybe
- 5:49Speaker 1: I guess I need to pay closer attention to it
- 5:52Speaker 1: because I thought it was okay the first couple episodes
- 5:54Speaker 1: I saw.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I really like the show. I do think it gets
- 5:57Speaker 2: better throughout season one. Just as a side note, it
- 6:00Speaker 2: is on Paramount Plus, but season one is on Netflix,
- 6:03Speaker 2: so if you don't have Paramount Plus, you can watch
- 6:05Speaker 2: season one and Hallmark fans. It does star Spencer mcthears, Yes,
- 6:10Speaker 2: I Love him.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Riley Davis plays lab partner John. Riley has thirty four
- 6:16Speaker 1: acting credits and is probably best known as Mason from
- 6:20Speaker 1: the Curious Caterer franchise.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Parmis the Hot plays friend in bakery employee Devin. Parmis
- 6:26Speaker 2: has twenty six acting credits and has appeared in shows
- 6:29Speaker 2: like The Good Doctor, Designated Survivor, as well as Hallmark
- 6:32Speaker 2: projects like Cross Country Christmas and A Very Mery Bridesmaid.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Karen Cruper plays Mom Barb. I think Karen Kruper gets
- 6:41Speaker 1: the mom treatment too for Hallmark. Right hear and Barbara
- 6:44Speaker 1: Nevan Barbara gets the majority of the rules.
- 6:48Speaker 2: They're probably sisters in some second chance romance any Day
- 6:51Speaker 2: Now Totally.
- 6:53Speaker 1: With sixty acting credits. Karen plays a lot of mom
- 6:56Speaker 1: roles as I just mentioned, including movies like All A
- 7:00Speaker 1: Good Night, The Wedding, Veil, Expectations, and Hashtag Xmas.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Everett Andre's plays son Gary. Evert's another up and coming
- 7:08Speaker 2: actor for Hallmark. He's appeared in movies like Navigating Christmas
- 7:10Speaker 2: and The Holiday Sitter. Barry Levy plays Barb's boyfriend.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Rick. Barry has one hundred acting credits and recently appeared
- 7:19Speaker 1: in the series Holidays as Sam Hill. He's also co
- 7:24Speaker 1: starred in Leah's Perfect Gift, The Wedding Contract and Wedding
- 7:29Speaker 1: Veil's Expectations.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Brendan's plays deadbeat Dad David, with forty six acting credits.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Brendan has been in movies like Sugar Plum, A Sprinkle
- 7:38Speaker 2: of Deceit, A Hannah Swinson Mystery, and Never Gets a
- 7:40Speaker 2: Man in a Christmas Sweater.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Is Again, dal Zaddi, Zaddie, It's not Zaddie, but it works. Zaddi,
- 7:56Speaker 1: adil Zadi and dal Zady. You know he probably loves
- 8:01Speaker 1: that a dil Zadi blaze. Isaac. We've seen him in
- 8:03Speaker 1: several Hallmark movies, including Fourth Down, in Love, The Wedding Contract,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and A Winning Team. However, it appears he's taking a
- 8:11Speaker 1: small break from Hallmark. He hasn't appeared in a role
- 8:14Speaker 1: since twenty twenty three.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I'm like that was yesterday, but wow, that was two
- 8:18Speaker 2: years ago. Let's take a quick break and we'll come
- 8:21Speaker 2: right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was
- 8:33Speaker 2: your first impression of dating the Delaneys.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I like to think I'm pretty chill but I'm definitely
- 8:39Speaker 1: not showing up at my ex husband's wedding. Oh right,
- 8:43Speaker 1: would you?
- 8:45Speaker 2: I was wondering the same thing, like if the kid,
- 8:49Speaker 2: you know, if it's important.
- 8:50Speaker 1: To the kids to have you there. How she's obviously
- 8:53Speaker 1: was hurt by the end of their relationship.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and they don't have a good coparing tam relationship.
- 8:58Speaker 2: It's not like the transition and yeah, I hear you,
- 9:02Speaker 2: I hear you. My first impression is, I know we've
- 9:06Speaker 2: said we love a douchey Andrew Walker as our favorite
- 9:10Speaker 2: Andrew Walker. I think an earnest Paul Campbell is my favorite.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Paul Campbell. Interesting m h. Interesting.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Also side note, for some reason, I cannot stop writing
- 9:25Speaker 2: and saying Paul Walker in my.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Notes for this movie. All right pee, multiple times I
- 9:33Speaker 1: loved Paul Walker, to the point.
- 9:35Speaker 2: That as I was saying Andrew Walker, I was like,
- 9:37Speaker 2: is that the right name? Okay, let's talk what we
- 9:39Speaker 2: liked about dating the Delineyes, well, I'm.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Gonna go first. I saw Rachel Boston and Paul Campbell
- 9:46Speaker 1: as a couple, friend turned couple. I thought they were
- 9:51Speaker 1: so great. I thought they were natural. I love like
- 9:54Speaker 1: kind of their easy chemistry, easy banter. I'm I'm into it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I know a lot of our listeners don't like Paul.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I get it, I understand, But I love Paul. I
- 10:09Speaker 1: love Paul too.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I think this was a standout role for him, much
- 10:12Speaker 2: like the movie he made with Kimberly Sustad Wedding Every Weekend.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I believe he plays a similar character with a similar
- 10:19Speaker 2: vibe where I think sometimes his characters are real comedic
- 10:24Speaker 2: and sarcastic, like the Santa Summit, like that one where
- 10:32Speaker 2: he plays the mean, curmudgeonly author. Sorry, yeah, yeah, perimenopause
- 10:37Speaker 2: brain is a real thing.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I really like. As mentioned in my first impression, I
- 10:41Speaker 1: like it when he's just this charming, sweet, kind of
- 10:45Speaker 1: nerdy good guy.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Who is a little bit like I'm gonna tell you.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I loved the punny through line. Now I freaking hate
- 10:56Speaker 2: a punt. I don't necessarily find them funny. I'm that's true.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I thought I don't find them funny. I'm not good
- 11:02Speaker 2: at them. My brain doesn't work that way. I don't
- 11:04Speaker 2: come up with them. Every time someone does it, I'm like.
- 11:06Speaker 1: WHOA, look at that. But I just thought they were
- 11:09Speaker 1: on the exact same nerdy cringeing level that I loved.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Mm hmmm. I just thought they vibed so well. I
- 11:18Speaker 1: agree with you. I'm gonna talk more about the puns
- 11:20Speaker 1: and my word you would, but but I agree, I
- 11:25Speaker 1: agree what you say about Paul. He was in that
- 11:28Speaker 1: movie with Hillary Burton where he was like sell on
- 11:30Speaker 1: that twisted he would he plays like a weird named
- 11:36Speaker 1: guy grun Grundy or that's not his name. Yes, he's
- 11:40Speaker 1: good in that movie he was given the Santa Steak out.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Oh yes, when he plays kind of these like earnest roles.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I agree with you. I all do. In case he's great, Yes,
- 11:52Speaker 1: but that one is a little bit different though, don't
- 11:55Speaker 1: you think so? This is Yeah? I agree, I agree.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I agree, he's range people, he's got rain I like Paul. Okay.
- 12:06Speaker 1: The other thing I liked about this movie and as
- 12:10Speaker 1: I was reading the synopsis out loud at the top
- 12:12Speaker 1: of the episode, yes, this is sort of a story
- 12:18Speaker 1: about three generations of women who are like dating in
- 12:23Speaker 1: the modern world, but not really like like that the
- 12:27Speaker 1: main it's not fully focused on that. No, but I
- 12:32Speaker 1: liked it. I like that we have a teenager and
- 12:35Speaker 1: we have a divorced mom. And we have like a
- 12:40Speaker 1: single sexy grandma. Like. I like that they could all
- 12:44Speaker 1: relate to each other and support each other, but as
- 12:48Speaker 1: a whole, I don't think like that's what this movie's about.
- 12:52Speaker 2: No, I don't either, but I want to riff on
- 12:55Speaker 2: that for just a second. One thing I've really liked
- 12:58Speaker 2: about the fan favorite lineup of movies is that what
- 13:01Speaker 2: we get, by and large are several unique takes on
- 13:05Speaker 2: the standard Hallmark fair. Every movie is super in line
- 13:10Speaker 2: with what Hallmark does. They're not like, oh my gosh,
- 13:12Speaker 2: this is an out of line movie. They're all very hallmarky,
- 13:16Speaker 2: but with just enough of a different flavor to be interesting.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And I think in this case, yes, this is straight
- 13:24Speaker 2: Hallmark romance, with the addition that the side characters, the
- 13:29Speaker 2: supporting roles, just happened to be the mom and the
- 13:31Speaker 2: daughter also experiencing their own relationships as opposed to we
- 13:36Speaker 2: still were going to get that mom and the daughter
- 13:38Speaker 2: in there, but they would be dealing with other things,
- 13:42Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like the daughter might just
- 13:43Speaker 2: be dealing with like, oh, the school's hard or my
- 13:46Speaker 2: friends are weird, and the mom's like I'm trying to
- 13:48Speaker 2: find myself. I like that they were all kind of
- 13:50Speaker 2: in line going through the same thing, even though obviously
- 13:54Speaker 2: the focus is going.
- 13:55Speaker 1: To be on Michael and Maggie. Yeah, yeah, I loved.
- 14:03Speaker 1: With all that said, I did love the teenage romance. Yeah,
- 14:08Speaker 1: I hated the jerk that she was, Like, Zach, what
- 14:15Speaker 1: a piece of you know what? Yeah? I mean I
- 14:19Speaker 1: would have you and I both have teenage daughters, and
- 14:24Speaker 1: if a boy treated our daughter that way, I think
- 14:29Speaker 1: heads would roll. We would be team. Heads would roll totally.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I know the mom never got to see them interact
- 14:37Speaker 1: like that, but I can only imagine if I don't
- 14:40Speaker 1: think right, they were never around the parents. I can
- 14:44Speaker 1: only imagine like that kid at my house giving absolutely
- 14:47Speaker 1: nothing and him leaving and me being like, he has
- 14:49Speaker 1: got to go, like that, dude does not like you.
- 14:52Speaker 1: We have some self respect for real. But I loved
- 14:57Speaker 1: I loved the lab partner. Ugh. He was like so
- 15:02Speaker 1: cute from go, like obviously he was interested in her
- 15:06Speaker 1: and they had so much in common and then when
- 15:09Speaker 1: he shows up and he wants to take her to
- 15:11Speaker 1: the dance and I wanted to cry. One of my
- 15:14Speaker 1: very first notes is justice for baby Mason. I just
- 15:19Speaker 1: I mean that's a curious caterer throwback for anybody who's
- 15:22Speaker 1: not deep in the homework Laura. But as soon as
- 15:24Speaker 1: he was on screen, I was like, oh my, look
- 15:25Speaker 1: at the baby. And I loved him, like he's oh.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I really liked that storyline. I was like, yes, find
- 15:33Speaker 1: the guy who likes you. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Let's talk Rachel Boston specifically. Please. First of all, I
- 15:42Speaker 1: loved her character. I just she's Look, she's so warm,
- 15:48Speaker 1: she cares about the people in her lives, like when
- 15:50Speaker 1: she's up in the morning, like making breakfast and encouraging
- 15:54Speaker 1: her kids. I was like, oh, I wish I was
- 15:55Speaker 1: that mom. I'm not that mom. I'm super grumpy in
- 15:58Speaker 1: the morning. But you know, like she just was great.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I just thought she was great. Now, I do think
- 16:05Speaker 1: she was a little naive to Michael's interest in her,
- 16:13Speaker 1: oh for sure, which I found to be a little
- 16:17Speaker 1: bit frustrating. Like I was like, wake up. I was
- 16:19Speaker 1: so glad she had the bakery friend to be like,
- 16:23Speaker 1: that's a real date. There's no such thing as a
- 16:25Speaker 1: practice date. Yeah. When he's like, hey, maybe we could
- 16:29Speaker 1: try it again, She's like, oh, another, what did they
- 16:32Speaker 1: call it, like, I don't know what they called it.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I can't remember either. But she was like, oh, another
- 16:38Speaker 1: practice date and he was like yeah, and I was like,
- 16:41Speaker 1: come on, girl, come on, yeah, I agree. How hard though?
- 16:47Speaker 2: Did you laugh when her little bakery partner is like,
- 16:50Speaker 2: do something fun for yourself and she just cleaned her
- 16:52Speaker 2: house top to bottom?
- 16:54Speaker 1: I mean, I loved it. I was like, girl, is mean.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Like nobody's gonna accuse me of being the cleanest person
- 17:00Speaker 2: in the world ever.
- 17:02Speaker 1: But I do love being alone and just like getting
- 17:06Speaker 1: it done, like getting the laundry running, vacuum clean sheets.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I feel alive. Me too. Is so sad.
- 17:14Speaker 2: But then it's also like, if I know I'm just
- 17:19Speaker 2: gonna go into my own little dreamland here, if I'm
- 17:21Speaker 2: gonna have a weekend to myself, I would absolutely spend
- 17:24Speaker 2: like the first couple hours of Friday cleaning so I
- 17:26Speaker 2: can just sink in and order in on Friday night
- 17:29Speaker 2: and do absolutely nothing because my space looks so great.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I enjoy the space that you just put so
- 17:36Speaker 1: much work in. Yeah, would you be going out with
- 17:39Speaker 1: like your.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Single friend and going to play pool, I'd be like,
- 17:42Speaker 2: I'm staying home and enjoying my quiet house.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I'll put that red mask on and put my feet up. So, yes,
- 17:50Speaker 1: that's what I'm doing. My dogs on the couch sounds
- 17:54Speaker 1: like a dream. Hey guys, if you want to check
- 17:56Speaker 1: out our new project, Midlife Best Ties A Oh my gosh,
- 18:03Speaker 1: I just I need a real I need a video
- 18:07Speaker 1: of you in your Jammy's red light mask on, your
- 18:11Speaker 1: dog's on the couch with Netflix, and just the caption
- 18:15Speaker 1: just says the new Friday Night. Please. I'm begging you.
- 18:18Speaker 1: It's gonna kill all right, I will work on it.
- 18:22Speaker 1: And your dear foam slippers, Okay, I will. I mean
- 18:26Speaker 1: that's the uniform, so okay. I have been asked to
- 18:29Speaker 1: go in a room and shut the door. When I
- 18:30Speaker 1: have the red light mask on. Scares people in the house,
- 18:35Speaker 1: even my dog. One time like came upstairs and I
- 18:37Speaker 1: had it on, and they like stopped in their chees.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Remember when sheet masks were all a rage. Anytime I
- 18:44Speaker 1: would do one and my husband woul walk out of
- 18:46Speaker 1: the room. It was a jump scare every time. I
- 18:48Speaker 1: can only imagine, have you seen.
- 18:51Speaker 2: There's a like a TikTok of a person and they're
- 18:54Speaker 2: like everyone finds my red light mask so scary, and
- 18:56Speaker 2: then it's they showed they cut to them like dragging
- 18:59Speaker 2: a dead body out to the trash can, and it
- 19:01Speaker 2: is they're like a mom in their row, and then
- 19:05Speaker 2: it's pretty funny.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I love it all right anymore, Like nothing specific, I
- 19:13Speaker 1: just really liked it. I to me this movie. When
- 19:16Speaker 1: I saw the movie poster, and it's like dating the Delaney's,
- 19:19Speaker 1: I thought that we were looking at like an established family,
- 19:23Speaker 1: Like I didn't know what this movie was about, so
- 19:27Speaker 1: I I, this sounds like a wish. The movie poster
- 19:33Speaker 1: and the title did not reflect what this movie actually
- 19:37Speaker 1: turned out to be to me, which I one hundred
- 19:40Speaker 1: percent reflects it. They're all dating Delaney's, yes, but like
- 19:45Speaker 1: really though, because they have this entire storyline about her
- 19:50Speaker 1: wanting to like expand the bakery and their opportunity to
- 19:54Speaker 1: be on this bakery show and so on and so face.
- 19:57Speaker 2: The Delaney's ps, the one where Maggie's a boss babe.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I don't care you can't put the whole storyline in.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I don't know, but I did enjoy. I thought it
- 20:08Speaker 1: was kind of a fresh concept. I don't think I
- 20:11Speaker 1: have seen a movie that is along this storyline. Yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 1: totally hasn't been done and redone and done and redone,
- 20:19Speaker 1: so totally let's talk wishes. You got some pun wishes?
- 20:25Speaker 1: I think I don't my own my only wish. There
- 20:29Speaker 1: were a lot of puns and a lot of dad jokes,
- 20:33Speaker 1: to the point where I was like, I'm uncomfortable, Like
- 20:37Speaker 1: it was like too much. Like I was like, I look,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I like laughing, and and I actually you love that shit.
- 20:48Speaker 1: You're like, I do love that shit. I love I
- 20:51Speaker 1: love making puns myself. My daughter is so good at
- 20:55Speaker 1: it too, so I think she gets it from me anyway.
- 21:01Speaker 1: But it went almost too far where I was like,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I bet Megan's real uncomfortable lodging. I was like, let's
- 21:10Speaker 1: lean in, let's lean into this. I mean, that's all.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It just was a lot. I do wonder though, because
- 21:18Speaker 1: you know, Paul is such a good writer. I wonder
- 21:21Speaker 1: if there's any of that, like on set stuff happening,
- 21:25Speaker 1: like they're like, oh wait, wait, let's throw this in here,
- 21:27Speaker 1: let's do that. Uh huh uh. I don't know, just
- 21:30Speaker 1: just curious. Now I'm gonna go back to the bakery
- 21:34Speaker 1: for a second. Yeah's the bakery storyline? Them being on
- 21:40Speaker 1: make it, bake It, cake it, whatever it's called. Was
- 21:43Speaker 1: this necessary? First of all, I don't understand what make it,
- 21:46Speaker 1: bake it cake it even is. The whole time, I'm like,
- 21:50Speaker 1: is it Diner, Strivers and Dies? Is it Triple D? It? Absolutely, absolutely,
- 21:57Speaker 1: that's exactly what it is. But I just feel like
- 21:59Speaker 1: they didn't sell it to me enough. Maybe all I
- 22:03Speaker 1: need to know is that it's I guess that is
- 22:05Speaker 1: selling it to me. It's Triple D for Bakery's fine, Okay.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I just felt like I was like, I don't really
- 22:09Speaker 1: know what's happening here. Yeah, And I felt like the
- 22:14Speaker 1: storyline about her wanting to expand the bakery got a
- 22:19Speaker 1: little bit lost. It was unnecessary, especially because I mean,
- 22:26Speaker 1: I think it was a vehicle for a lot of
- 22:27Speaker 1: other storylines, Like it brought in her best friend, which
- 22:32Speaker 1: or assistant, and that helped, you know, she really needed
- 22:35Speaker 1: to be present in her life in this way.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Yes, it's also helped drive forward some of the ways
- 22:41Speaker 2: in which her ex husband was a complete ass. When
- 22:43Speaker 2: he comes and he's like, I own half this place, She's.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Like, no, you don't. Oh that seems so great. She's like,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you didn't do anything to make this place of success.
- 22:52Speaker 1: So I liked that part of it, but I did
- 22:55Speaker 1: feel otherwise. I was like, I don't really understand.
- 22:57Speaker 2: It feels a little bit like just the vehicle for
- 23:00Speaker 2: driving all these other storylines.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah, because like she needed time with Michael, and here
- 23:07Speaker 1: he is like some pr guy or something. He's something
- 23:11Speaker 1: like I actually not even quite sure. I can't remember
- 23:14Speaker 1: what his job was, but he's like, let me help
- 23:17Speaker 1: you prep for it, right, how do you prep? Like?
- 23:24Speaker 1: Was he just prepping her for like being on camera,
- 23:28Speaker 1: like for her elevator pitch? What she's gonna say? I mean,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I guess I can kind of understand that, Like what
- 23:33Speaker 1: are you going to say when they ask you? What
- 23:35Speaker 1: are your goals for the bakery? Yeah? I mean you
- 23:37Speaker 1: got to think about those things. I guess. Sure, I
- 23:38Speaker 1: guess yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I have a couple
- 23:45Speaker 1: more wishes. But what do you have?
- 23:47Speaker 2: Okay, Well, you mentioned before that you thought Maggie was
- 23:49Speaker 2: a little bit naive, and it is not shown any
- 23:52Speaker 2: more obviously than in her first date where she shows
- 23:56Speaker 2: up and the guy's like on the phone, he's already ordered.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I was like, look, you.
- 24:00Speaker 2: May have been out of the dating game, but you
- 24:02Speaker 2: haven't been living on Mars. You do understand what basic
- 24:05Speaker 2: human decency and interaction should look like.
- 24:08Speaker 1: And the fact that she needed the waiter to be like, yo,
- 24:10Speaker 1: get out of here now, the whole restaurant wants you
- 24:12Speaker 1: to go, and she's like, oh, is that okay? Get out?
- 24:15Speaker 1: What are you doing? Like I sucked from go yes,
- 24:19Speaker 1: Oh my god. I would have been like, excuse me,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I'm going to go to the bathroom and then walk
- 24:23Speaker 1: out the door. No. Yeah, like when he had ordered,
- 24:26Speaker 1: she'd be like, well, looks like you're all set by No,
- 24:30Speaker 1: I know, why would you allow someone to treat you
- 24:31Speaker 1: like that? Well maybe her not, or like that's why
- 24:36Speaker 1: her daughter allows herself to be treated that way too.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Hey there you go. I mean it's not that explicit,
- 24:44Speaker 1: but whatever. Yeah, I agree, Like, come on, you have
- 24:48Speaker 1: a lot to offer. Don't be mistreated by this terrible
- 24:52Speaker 1: date for sure. Eh, there's not a lot of conflict
- 25:02Speaker 1: in this movie. No, in terms like okay, so like
- 25:06Speaker 1: Maggie and Michael don't have any real sort of like
- 25:10Speaker 1: there's no like tension building between them in terms of
- 25:13Speaker 1: like oh it's growing great and then it goes terrible. Right,
- 25:16Speaker 1: and then it is.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it is the conflict just that she doesn't understand
- 25:19Speaker 2: that he's interested in her.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I think so there's more. There's more conflict between like
- 25:25Speaker 1: the teenage daughter her piece of shit love interest and
- 25:30Speaker 1: then Maggie's ex husband is there's conflict there. I kind
- 25:37Speaker 1: of like it though, Oh me too. Yeah, okay, it's
- 25:41Speaker 1: not like it's not like a super wish, but it's
- 25:43Speaker 1: just like I think I expect I have come to
- 25:49Speaker 1: expect Yeah, yeah, yeah, storylines where things start out good
- 25:53Speaker 1: or they start out terrible and there's repair to it.
- 25:58Speaker 1: M hmm. Nobody can be like so, yes, okay, well
- 26:02Speaker 1: maybe this was a like I'm not sure, let's talk.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Did you see that I have one and it's not great? Oh,
- 26:12Speaker 1: neither is mine. Let's hear it. When Maggie's doing her
- 26:16Speaker 1: make It Bake It Cake It show, they're like, Hi,
- 26:19Speaker 1: this is Maggie from whatever the bakery's name is, and
- 26:22Speaker 1: she like waves at the camera, like she waves at
- 26:24Speaker 1: the camera like three times, and I was like, would
- 26:27Speaker 1: you that's what Michael taught her to wave at the camera?
- 26:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I just why would you wave at the camera.
- 26:34Speaker 2: It probably is like involuntary, like you can't help yourself but.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Wave at the end of a zoom call oh fair,
- 26:40Speaker 1: super fair, even though at the end I'm like, go
- 26:43Speaker 1: sit on your hands, Megan, super Fair. That's all I got.
- 26:48Speaker 1: What about you? Okay? Well, yeah, the did you see
- 26:51Speaker 1: that department's on vacation? This week? For me, one was
- 26:55Speaker 1: justice for baby Mason. I just really liked seeing that
- 26:58Speaker 1: character on my screen. But also Maggie and I have
- 27:02Speaker 1: the same welcome man on our homes. Oh do you
- 27:06Speaker 1: it's a Target special? Uh purchase pre twenty twenty five
- 27:09Speaker 1: y'all just defyi oh oh those who know, No, I
- 27:14Speaker 1: do believe it's still available if you're still a Target shopper.
- 27:17Speaker 1: But what is this? What does it say?
- 27:19Speaker 2: It says welcome, It's it's one of their oversized mats.
- 27:25Speaker 2: They don't have a lot of those, so you have
- 27:28Speaker 2: like a lot of welcome mats are tiny and they
- 27:30Speaker 2: need like a like you have like an extra layer
- 27:32Speaker 2: to make them match the scale of your door. Yeah,
- 27:36Speaker 2: this happens to be an extra wide one, and they
- 27:38Speaker 2: don't have a lot of options in that department.
- 27:40Speaker 1: And your front door you have this. I've been to
- 27:43Speaker 1: your house a million times. I don't think I've ever
- 27:45Speaker 1: really noticed it.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I mean, it just says welcome. I know what yours says.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I pay attention.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Mine says I hope you like dogs. That's right, because the.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Mind mine should say I hope you like dogs. Mine
- 27:58Speaker 2: just fades into the background. It just it's it's utilitarian.
- 28:01Speaker 2: It's not memorable, but it does match the scale of
- 28:04Speaker 2: my door.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I will take a note next time I come over.
- 28:06Speaker 1: All right, what did you radiating the Delaine eyes? I
- 28:09Speaker 1: gave it four stars? Whoa? I gave it four and
- 28:12Speaker 1: a half stars. I really loved this movie. No, whoa me.
- 28:15Speaker 1: It's not a bad rating. I know, I enjoyed it.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I enjoyed it a lot. I know.
