Transcript
- 0:00Does Tucker Carlson understand what Christian Zionism really is?
- 0:04Today, we're going to discuss this.
- 0:05He had on his show Nathan Affel, who's a person that goes around and tries to
- 0:11expose churches for corruption and all that. I think he does some good work.
- 0:15You know, some people would disagree.
- 0:16I think Nathan does some good work in what he's brought to light.
- 0:19I don't agree with everything.
- 0:20But when they got into the idea of Zionism, did Nathan represent what Zionism really is?
- 0:27Do you know what Zionism is? because that is a word that is thrown around everywhere.
- 0:32I'm not going to be a person that's dying on a hill for a label.
- 0:36There's no label I need to die on. I feel like I need to die on.
- 0:39If Christian, I will die on that hill.
- 0:42Every other label you want to throw at, everyone or people want to say,
- 0:45because a lot of times people don't even know what anything means.
- 0:48They're just infusing into whatever word, what they wanted to believe,
- 0:52what they wanted to mean, and they believe that.
- 0:54But what Nathan said when he represented, he got into dispensationalism.
- 0:58And he says, that's what it is.
- 1:00That's what it is. And so dispensationalism is the 12 tribes of Israel still deserve this land.
- 1:06And so I don't know where we want to— And don't need Jesus? And don't need Jesus, no.
- 1:10Okay, so that's the—leaving aside the land and what you do with the Levant and
- 1:13all that and what the boundaries of that land are, I mean, these are all questions
- 1:16I tried to get answers from in my conversation with Mike Huckabee to no avail.
- 1:20But that secondary is a theological matter to the core question,
- 1:23which is how do you get to heaven? How are you redeemed?
- 1:25And I think the New Testament could not make it clearer. Jesus couldn't make
- 1:28it clearer. Paul couldn't—Paul, the Jewish Pharisee, couldn't make it clearer.
- 1:32It's through Jesus. It's an exclusive claim. It's that or nothing. Correct.
- 1:35And Jesus— That's what it says, right? Am I missing something?
- 1:37A chapter I don't know about?
- 1:39Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one gets to the Father.
- 1:40Okay, so then you have people just arrive out of nowhere 150 or 200 years ago.
- 1:44And they're like, well, actually, there's one group that doesn't need Jesus.
- 1:46Is that what they're saying? Correct. And this goes back— Where does that come from?
- 1:49It comes back from pride is where I'll take it. So there was only one church,
- 1:54and it's not the Roman Catholic Church.
- 1:56It's not the Orthodox Church. Those are great traditions. I respect those traditions. I do too.
- 1:59But there's only one church, and that's the Church of Christ.
- 2:01That's the body of Christ.
- 2:03And in 1054, you have the Great Schism. the original split, denominational split, boom.
- 2:08Now you have Catholicism in the Vatican and you have Orthodoxy.
- 2:11Well, today there's over 40,000 denominations.
- 2:14So everybody has an idea of what the truth is.
- 2:18Now what Tucker is, what he is trying to get, he's trying to get to the bottom
- 2:21of, I think there is some, he's trying to also put up a block.
- 2:25He doesn't want to sometimes hear what people are saying because he sat down
- 2:28with a lot of people that embrace Christian Zionism, who are embraced that and
- 2:32have explained it to them. But he, he puts up a block.
- 2:34He puts out a stiff arm and says he doesn't want to hear it.
- 2:37And what Nathan says, he goes to dispensationalism. And what that is,
- 2:41is like the God has dispensations throughout human history.
- 2:43And he was working with the Jews at one time.
- 2:46And now we're in the church age and the Jews are going to come back.
- 2:50And there's almost these two people groups.
- 2:51There's some truth in a lot of these things. A.
- 2:56Mixed ideas of truth and air. You know, if you think you have all truth in your
- 3:01head, you're probably not right. I think we should remain humble.
- 3:05What, I want to come to the truth. So like when I listen to Tucker and what
- 3:09they're talking about, I want to glean from them as much as possible.
- 3:13But this idea of what Christian Zionism is, it's not dispensationalism.
- 3:19That's not the full totality of it. It's much simpler than that.
- 3:24It's that God has a people group. and who he made a covenant with,
- 3:29which is the Jewish people who are Israel.
- 3:31You know, these are terms, you know, there's a lot of conflation that goes on there.
- 3:35But if we think that God is just this arbitrary God who's just gonna change
- 3:39his mind and say one thing and do another, that's really not...
- 3:44A good representation of what the Bible portrays that he is. He doesn't change.
- 3:49And for, if we want to say that God made all these promises to Israel,
- 3:53because we see them, it happened in the Old Testament, and then he gets to the,
- 3:55when Jesus comes and he just throws them all out the window,
- 3:59that wouldn't be really good news to his primary audience,
- 4:03which is Jews, which are Israel.
- 4:06Because that's what Paul even says in the book of Romans, the gospel,
- 4:09you know, it's been revealed to the Jew first, obviously, and then to the Gentile.
- 4:15But it would not be good news if God promised all these things to them,
- 4:19and then, well, forget all that, we got something completely new.
- 4:23So there's so much mixture and air happening right here that God does not,
- 4:28he wants us there to remain a distinction.
- 4:31I think that's the conflation that happens.
- 4:34Gentiles want to grab all the promises of Israel and say that they're applied to Gentiles,
- 4:38and then Israel doesn't want to relinquish any of the, any of the promises and
- 4:43say that the Messiah came and that there's a greater fulfillment of all nations
- 4:48being included in God's community.
- 4:50And that's what the offense of the cross was.
- 4:52The offense of the cross was the inclusion of Gentiles.
- 4:56That's why Jews persecuted Paul from city to city and didn't want him spreading this message.
- 5:01And Nathan, he got into like the book of Romans saying it just dismantles what
- 5:07this idea of that there being still any promises with Israel or that there being
- 5:13a greater fulfillment for Israel.
- 5:16Whereas when we go to the New Testament, we need to understand the context that
- 5:20Paul is writing in, who he's writing to.
- 5:22He's writing primarily to Jewish, not to Jewish, sorry, to Gentiles.
- 5:26He's writing primarily to gentiles and he's wanting them to not become jewish
- 5:31that's the the big thing that's happening in the new testament,
- 5:35And the Christian Zionism aspect of it is we understand that there is still
- 5:41promises that are there for Israel to be had, and God's not done with them.
- 5:45And things that he said that would come about just because things look like
- 5:49they, like that Joshua led them into the promised land, or David set up the
- 5:54empire, the kingdom, that that was fulfilled.
- 5:56And I mean, this idea of fulfillment and being abolished is very,
- 6:00very conflated with a lot of people. They think that if something is fulfilled,
- 6:06that means it's done away with.
- 6:08It doesn't need to continue on. It's fulfilled. It's done.
- 6:12Whereas it's just carrying out.
- 6:14If President Trump wants to fulfill the Constitution, he's carrying out the
- 6:20law. He's doing what the Constitution says.
- 6:22But that doesn't mean the Constitution is done away with when he's fulfilling
- 6:26the law, when he's abiding by what the Constitution puts on him as a president.
- 6:32And that's what Jesus did. he fulfilled it he he completed
- 6:35it to its full fullness he did it exactly perfectly
- 6:39but it doesn't wipe it away and this
- 6:42is where the the people that come into
- 6:45this there's such confusion and what what tucker is struggling with and what
- 6:50even like this this saying that it's just dispensationalism that's not the whole
- 6:54story it's not that i understand that what john nelson darby in the 18th century
- 6:59he created this this idea or whatever he and he went on this offshoot i think
- 7:02there's a lot of truth and a lot of people in the,
- 7:04in the history of the church, like Martin Luther,
- 7:07but a lot of people don't have the fullness of it.
- 7:09If we want the fullness of truth, we need to go, what did the apostles believe?
- 7:13And what did Jesus teach? And it like this idea of God promises everything to this nation.
- 7:20And then Jesus comes. I mean, and just to think about it, they did not have
- 7:23the new Testament when Paul and the apostles were living there.
- 7:26All the scriptures were the old, what we.
- 7:31And then as time went on, the writings of the apostles were brought together
- 7:37and put into one book, into one complete library of books.
- 7:42So what they were talking about with the Jews, their promises that were given
- 7:47to them, it would not be good news at all if we say the Messiah came and everything,
- 7:52your uniqueness, your special, the covenant that God made with you, it's done away with.
- 7:56Where would your hope as a Christian be? What would you be resting in is if
- 7:59that is your God, that he can just change his mind.
- 8:04In a moment and say, well, I promised you heaven, I promised you you would be
- 8:09with me for eternity, but really there's a greater people that are,
- 8:14you're just kind of like the stepping stone to the greater people that I have.
- 8:18You're kind of old news. You're a relic of the past.
- 8:21I just needed you for a little bit of period of time.
- 8:24Now you forget you. That's not what God is. that's not who he is.
- 8:29He doesn't go back on anything.
- 8:31The things are getting more revealed and get clearer. They don't get dimmer.
- 8:36And, and, and God doesn't just turn on what he says. And that's what's going on.
- 8:40Like kind of with Christian Zionism, there's promises give given to Israel that are to be had.
- 8:45And we, it's just basically who, who are the Jewish people?
- 8:49And it's, if you're, those people are abiding by the, what we call the old Testament.
- 8:54They're trying to be faithful to it. Not everyone. I know there's a mixture
- 8:57of like people that are in air and that are probably worshiping Baal,
- 9:01probably worshiping a lot of things.
- 9:02That happens throughout the Old Testament. We see Jews that are like that,
- 9:06but it's not to throw out.
- 9:08God does not just change his mind.
- 9:11He doesn't. There's a greater fulfillment in Christ.
- 9:15It's not less fulfillment, but it's Gentiles. We get to be included in this
- 9:20great redemptive story.
