- 2:15Welcome back to another My name is Rex 45 and we're here every
- 2:23every day pretty much in and around the world.
- 2:25I have to say lots to talk about in Moto GP world Super bike a
- 2:33little bit more American stuff as well as I catch my breath.
- 2:39Want to bring the guys in and and introduce them one at a
- 2:41time. And we're going to dive right
- 2:43into it because this past weekend, if you're a girl super
- 2:47bike fan, it was pretty cool to watch.
- 2:50If Moto GP fan, pretty cool to watch.
- 2:53You may not have liked the outcome, but now you did as a
- 2:57writers. So we're going to dive into it.
- 2:59But with no further ado, let's get it cracking.
- 3:03TJ, man, welcome to the show. How you doing man?
- 3:05Doing good man. How you doing Ricey?
- 3:08You can catch my breath, man. I mean, the intro was playing.
- 3:11I had to run around like I had no sense.
- 3:15We made it back just in time it looks like.
- 3:19Just in time, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:21What's good with you, man? How's Boston?
- 3:24Man, it's getting better. Still cold, but you know, it's
- 3:28definitely riding season. See some bikes out there from
- 3:32the lower CC's now to the Harleys to the one thousands.
- 3:36So I couldn't say that is officially everyone can get out
- 3:40there. Pothole is kind of cleaned up,
- 3:43but sand and salt and snow for sure is gone from right now.
- 3:48But right got to. Keep them eyes moving man, got
- 3:51to keep them eyes moving. Sure.
- 3:53No. Doubt Reese man.
- 3:55Welcome to the show man. How you doing tonight man?
- 3:58Man, what's going on, man? Ain't ain't ain't nothing, man.
- 4:02I, I'm, I'm, I, I reached out to my peoples.
- 4:04I think we can get you some bodyguards, man.
- 4:06What's good? Hey, man, you know it pays to be
- 4:11a little bit like if somebody you know pays to be a little
- 4:14bit, you know, just a little days in college.
- 4:18Just a little bit, man. What's good, man?
- 4:20Everything good? Koda was good for you in person.
- 4:23Koda was good. It was hot, long weekend, a lot
- 4:27of people, lots of fans out there.
- 4:29It was a good turn out. Some good racing, some big
- 4:33crashes, Moto 2, Moto GP, you know, we'll talk about it, but
- 4:37it was some good racing. No doubt, no doubt, man
- 4:40definitely well fellas, I mean we're in just completed the
- 4:45third round second round of the world super bike.
- 4:48I gotta get my stats up as as unprepared as I am tonight.
- 4:53But I have to say, man, I mean, you looked at, we looked at at
- 4:57the end of the day on practice on Friday with all the practices
- 5:01you would have thought the weekend would have, you would
- 5:03have had a different outcome. You know what I'm saying?
- 5:06So like we always do, let's just go around the horn and, and, and
- 5:10talk about what you thought about the overall weekend.
- 5:12And then we'll dive into the nuts and bolts of the, of the
- 5:17whole weekend and, and, and you know, who's at fault?
- 5:20Did these penalties matter as are they doing too much?
- 5:23All that fun stuff. So we start with TJ, man, what's
- 5:26what's good, man? What you thought about overall
- 5:28the weekend Koda? Man, I thought it was, you know,
- 5:33third round. It's kind of what it's supposed
- 5:35to be. It's, you know, the season's
- 5:37growing and everyone's, you know, Koda's a great track and
- 5:42you know, points starting to really matter.
- 5:44But to start the the weekend is pretty much a mess, like a lot
- 5:49of crashes and everyone trying to get their feeling right.
- 5:52And you know, one point Juwan mirrors in first place.
- 5:57And I mean, like, you know, it's that time wise and stuff like
- 6:01that. So it was a lot of unusual
- 6:03things happened, especially like people crashing on celebrations,
- 6:08people crashing on warm up laps. Yeah, it was just it was just a
- 6:14lot, a lot happened. But it was a pretty fun,
- 6:18exciting weekend to watch all the classes.
- 6:20So Nah, I. I I agree.
- 6:22And and they had the baggage too.
- 6:24So that's an update, no? No doubt on Moto GP level.
- 6:28Pretty wild Reese man. What do you what do you think of
- 6:30the overall weekend? You heard TJ talks a little bit.
- 6:35I mean, on Friday at FP2O. Hey, Martine was in first place,
- 6:40Marquez second back, now your third Bez Digi Acosta, but it
- 6:45didn't end like that, man. What are your thoughts?
- 6:49It didn't end like that. I mean, there was a lot of
- 6:51crashes in practice, you know, was it Friday was a little cool?
- 6:59You know, it was real cool that day and then Saturday was back
- 7:03to being hot. Sunday was Dang sure hot too.
- 7:08No, I'm sorry. Saturday was cool.
- 7:10It's a little cooler. But you know, trying to figure
- 7:16out the different tire compound. I'm trying to figure out.
- 7:20I mean, there was a if you didn't know that, I don't
- 7:23remember what turn number that is.
- 7:25I know coming over the hill, getting ready to go to the
- 7:26backside, getting ready to go to the you know the back straight
- 7:30away there's a huge bump that they kept complaining about and
- 7:33you can see where Marquez crashed at.
- 7:35That was a there was a huge bump there.
- 7:37Almost like so much time for that track to get a little
- 7:40resurfaced or get a little friendly touch up.
- 7:44But there was a lot of crashes. I mean, I've seen a lot and we
- 7:50just got to get Jorge Martin not to crash on Celebration, make
- 7:54sure he brings the front wheel down straight, but.
- 7:56Dude, does that not bring you back to like, you know, middle
- 8:00school and guys are trying to show off in front of girls and
- 8:06like, you know what I'm saying? I mean, it's like, I mean, like
- 8:10we all crash and and, and like Rocco Landers did it and lined
- 8:16up at the grid and stuff like that.
- 8:17But like, you know it. What do you guys think about
- 8:21that, man? You know that it's not
- 8:23definitely not a good look. Probably shouldn't do it
- 8:25anymore. I mean, like we're saying he
- 8:31needs to keep his, keep his cool, you know what I'm saying?
- 8:34Like he's in a tough seat right now.
- 8:36And like, like I said, he just need to show winning results and
- 8:40that's it. And yeah, no, he's really
- 8:43excited that he got the win because the way he got it was
- 8:45pretty, pretty intense. You know, it wasn't really, it
- 8:49wasn't really handed to him. So he had to work for that.
- 8:53So I feel him on the celebration.
- 8:54But you know, a long wheelie down the straight, yeah, he's in
- 8:59like 4th gear, like accelerated like, I don't know, it's just
- 9:03wasn't smart on his part. I'm glad he's all right though,
- 9:05because he does not need another injury, especially him, you
- 9:10know, top the the championship. So, but yeah, now that was not
- 9:15smart on his part and I'm sure he won't do that again.
- 9:18No, I don't think so. I mean Reese, I mean I it's you
- 9:21know, he's not. I don't remember.
- 9:23Oh, hey, Martin, be one of the guys that's Wheeling.
- 9:26Even when he was winning in in Moto 3, Moto 2, even when he was
- 9:30winning, when he won the title, he wasn't Wheeling.
- 9:35So I mean, I can't, I don't you know, I can wheelie a bicycle
- 9:38every day, all day, one handy. I might even still be able to do
- 9:41no hands. But on a motorcycle, I'm not
- 9:43trying to wheelie on a track, much less down on any road.
- 9:46I mean, you know, what do you tell some somebody like this
- 9:49man? I mean, you know, stay in your
- 9:52lane. I mean, it's almost like stay in
- 9:55your lane. If you actually look at the
- 9:58Willy before that, like he did a, a small Willy on the front
- 10:01straightaway. And if you look the front wheel
- 10:03was kind of cocked and he almost lost it.
- 10:06And then he did the same thing on the back straightaway a
- 10:08little longer and it came down and that was it.
- 10:12But he did say in the fence is if something locked, he couldn't
- 10:15turn the bar or something locked up and he couldn't turn it.
- 10:18And but I mean, at that point in time, if it did it the first
- 10:22time on the front straight away, what would make you want to do
- 10:24it on the back straight away at that speed?
- 10:27Like, let's not do this and just keep it going straight, 'cause I
- 10:31know if that was my guy and that's our crew member, man,
- 10:33let's say I think we'd have been pissed.
- 10:35Like you got me staying here late after a win and I want to
- 10:37go celebrate. Nah, I'm going to kill you.
- 10:40No doubt. No, I feel the same way, man.
- 10:42It's, it's not a, it's not a, it's not a good look.
- 10:45It's just like when Bez and I forget which one the VR46 county
- 10:50riders are celebrating when they were Moto 2 and they both fell
- 10:53over. It's the kind of thing you want
- 10:55to, you want to stay away from. But let's talk about Q1 and Q2.
- 11:00Ferminalda Gear and Mir came out of Q1.
- 11:04I mean, these guys look at different times.
- 11:06They look pretty quick, like a lot of these bikes were.
- 11:08I mean, and they were all pretty close in times.
- 11:10I mean, let's be fair, you know, they weren't they weren't it
- 11:14wasn't a stretch like we, you know, not to say we thought, but
- 11:17I think some people were hoping that Marquez was going to, you
- 11:20know, set the bar different coming to coder and stuff like
- 11:23that. Well, you know your thoughts
- 11:25about Q1 and Q2, you know, did you came out and pulled it,
- 11:29pulled it out. But you know the prelias, I mean
- 11:32I, you know, I hate to say, but you know, I did say Martine Bez
- 11:36or Agura. These are prelias man.
- 11:39I mean they they were looking pretty good.
- 11:40Well, you guys thoughts TJ on the on Q1Q2?
- 11:45I mean, Q1 for sure. I mean, like it was good to see
- 11:49Al the gear get to the top and definitely Mirror because the
- 11:53struggles Mirror's been having and for Al the gear just to come
- 11:57back off of injuries still walking around with the crutch.
- 12:01It's pretty impressive at the speed that he's caught up to
- 12:06with the lack of training or lack of testing over the winter.
- 12:11So for them to to move and see a Honda and alligator get to Q2 is
- 12:16pretty good. Thing is that a coder like it's
- 12:21like 2 minutes of lap. So with the 15 minutes, you
- 12:26really have no time to to waste no mistakes at all.
- 12:31But I was really impressed by Digi from him bouncing back from
- 12:36the last round to to this round, just staying at the top level.
- 12:42So really impressed by that and he's actually definitely holding
- 12:45his own. I I I I agree Reece, what are
- 12:49your thoughts man on Q1Q2 Digi being the strongest Ducati rider
- 12:58like 2 weekends in a row, it's fair to say you know what I
- 13:03mean. What are your thoughts, Reese?
- 13:05I mean, I was very impressed by Diggy.
- 13:07He was very strong the weekend, so I was definitely impressed by
- 13:12his writing style. He was very impressive on lap
- 13:14times, very consistent. So that was very shocking to see
- 13:18over any of the Ducati and hindsight, you know, Mark is
- 13:22still Mark, but he is still kind of battling an injury, still
- 13:25trying to get his strengths and still trying to find out his way
- 13:27on that bike. But he did show some impressive
- 13:31maneuvers and pace during the race and Altigerra was pretty
- 13:38impressive still, but still with his injury and Agora and that
- 13:43got that kid was very, very impressive over the weekends.
- 13:46Him, Baz and Martine, all the affiliate guys were very, very
- 13:49impressive. Even Fernandez was impressive.
- 13:52So I I got to hand it to them, all four of those guys that
- 13:55wrote, they were very impressive over the weekend.
- 13:59Right. Right.
- 13:59I was in turn 15 so. I got one more thing Richie,
- 14:03though. I'm impressed though with Petco
- 14:08to see him, you know, pretty much at the top of the sheets
- 14:11all weekend and actually riding pretty well so.
- 14:16I thought he was getting impressed by him crying.
- 14:19Well, he's saying like, you know, we first saw Jerome Mayer
- 14:23get a track record. He hasn't been up there in a
- 14:26while in, in the qualifying and then, you know, switched to I
- 14:30think Peko and then back to Dizzy.
- 14:33But it was cool to see Peko up there 'cause he's, he's, he's
- 14:36ahead of Mark. I mean, obviously Mark had his
- 14:39problems, but that was also finally to see had stepped up a
- 14:44little bit. So right, right, let let's talk
- 14:46about we'll talk about the Sprint, we'll talk about Mark
- 14:48and Digi and we'll talk about Petco and Martine.
- 14:52Since you since you brought up Petco Reese, I mean that that
- 14:55last that pass was, you know, that that that that that that
- 14:59that's like being accosted at the club at like 159 where ends
- 15:04by by by somebody that scares the hell out of you.
- 15:10I mean, come on, that pass. Like, like, I know Martine is
- 15:13hungry for one, He's hungry for one, right, But like, come on,
- 15:16man, you could have done it. You could have done it
- 15:18differently, right? It was that is it.
- 15:20That's just me. I mean, if you don't want to get
- 15:24past, keep thinking, go faster, just go faster.
- 15:29I mean, what else do you want me to say?
- 15:31I mean if you look at the. He stood the guy out.
- 15:35Come. On now.
- 15:36OK, so we want to talk about that.
- 15:39I mean, but if you look at it, Martine and I was why I'm
- 15:42sitting there and turn 15, Martine had the pace and speed
- 15:48over Pekka coming down that straight away.
- 15:51What do you want him to do now? Saying that, if you're going to
- 15:58say give Mark, if you're going to say give Mark a penalty for
- 16:03that pass on Acosta, then Martine should have got it.
- 16:07See, I, I don't, I don't even, I don't even have to do the show,
- 16:10man. I mean, you already know what
- 16:11I'm going to say, right? Because it's, it's it is kind of
- 16:14like clear as day. Like, come on.
- 16:16I mean, if So, what we're saying is if Mark would have kept it
- 16:20up, he wouldn't have got penalized.
- 16:22Right. And that's that's where as Lewis
- 16:25would say, the inconsistency of the stewards.
- 16:27I mean, if you look at the past Mark did get past Acosta, I
- 16:32mean, or a Digi. He did get past Digi.
- 16:35He crashed on his own and Digi ran into the back door.
- 16:38It's not like he pushed Digi wide or anything like that.
- 16:40Digi still had the line but but you that.
- 16:45That, and I said this from the last round, right?
- 16:48Mark is starting to take a risk. Last year, he didn't have to.
- 16:53Well, he's trying to take risks. He's trying to figure out the
- 16:55limit of his shoulder or his injury.
- 16:58He's trying to figure out the injury, the the limit of it.
- 17:01You know he is taking a little bit more risk, but the that pass
- 17:07wasn't as bad as Martinez. OK, All right.
- 17:13So Martine should have got penalized for that.
- 17:15And and OK, what are your what are your?
- 17:17Thoughts. Cause Martine did.
- 17:19Martine did physically stand Pekka up.
- 17:22Oh yeah he did. He physically did stand him up
- 17:25and bump him off his line. So if you're going to give Mark
- 17:28that penalty, then Martine should have got the same
- 17:30penalty. But apparently he didn't.
- 17:32Why? Because they both stayed up.
- 17:34But that's unfair. It is, yeah.
- 17:37And and you know, so to your comment, please say something.
- 17:42I mean, my even Michael Jordan said something.
- 17:45Yeah, go faster. I mean, let me just say go
- 17:47faster in that case, then you wouldn't have had that problem.
- 17:49We wouldn't have been in that situation.
- 17:51You OK? So in that fairness, yes, Pekka
- 17:56has a little bit of an argument, but at the same time, what was
- 18:00the gap? I don't know.
- 18:03There was a huge gap, but it was like what the the three seconds
- 18:07or two? It was a gap, ladies and.
- 18:09Gentlemen, I rest. Yeah, it was like, you know, go
- 18:14faster. A season.
- 18:18And a half and Pecker was on a soft tie and Martin was on a
- 18:22medium. So he he definitely had more
- 18:24pace and I think it was just the wrong corner to do it, even
- 18:29though he didn't have much time. And I also think the stewards
- 18:32was just so busy this this weekend that they just couldn't
- 18:35get to it in time or something like that.
- 18:37But I think if they were really consistent that that should have
- 18:41been a penalty regardless if it wasn't the last corner, because
- 18:46that's what Mark and Acosta, they got the the last corner to
- 18:49the finish line or it was before the last lap, but I don't know.
- 18:55It's just I think they should just be more consistent, like
- 18:59like reset with if marked it and fall and and did you didn't
- 19:04crash to him. I think it would have been just
- 19:06a whoa, what was that crazy moment?
- 19:09You know, I gore drove into that same corner.
- 19:12I forgot on who, but it was very tight, very close.
- 19:16Nothing happened and you know in.
- 19:18The main race, right, But yeah. I, I forgot who it was, but
- 19:22yeah, that. Was that was, that was
- 19:24beautiful. I mean, it was, it was, but it's
- 19:33a consistency. Though, so yeah, that was nice.
- 19:36Yeah. No, he, he's.
- 19:37He's coming along and I feel bad for the you know, I you know,
- 19:40we've said this on the show, you when it's a mechanical, you feel
- 19:42bad, right, because and and for digit and for Agoura, who was
- 19:46coming through the pack like he it could have it possibly could
- 19:49have been a a pro year 123, you know, no, it was.
- 19:52Going to be a pro year 123 because Agoura was he was
- 19:56starting to gap people. Yeah.
- 19:58Oh. Yeah, Nah, he, he was, he was
- 20:00definitely moving. It's unfortunate for I think did
- 20:04you because of the crash with Marquez.
- 20:07I mean, granted, even though they they got penalized, you
- 20:11know, it, it it's unfortunate because this is 2 rounds now,
- 20:15right, that he's had some bad luck.
- 20:18Let's let's talk about the the penalty that Bez got and was it
- 20:22Luca for riding slow against Mark?
- 20:25And, and I think he was either, I think he might have been one
- 20:27of the qualifings or maybe FP2. Or was it Bassini?
- 20:32Because I know Bassini was going to slow too.
- 20:35Was it it? It might.
- 20:36Have been I know Bez was one of them because he got the he got
- 20:38the two grid push back right? So he started on the road to
- 20:41race and who started 7th on the race?
- 20:47No, it might it might have been bash.
- 20:50It's either Bashini or Luca, but I thought it was 2 VR 46 Academy
- 20:53riders that woke up penalized for that.
- 20:58You know, I don't know how much you saw Reese on a big screen.
- 21:02You know, like. Because to me.
- 21:05I didn't feel like Bez was going that slow to, to, to be, to, to
- 21:10be penalized. He wasn't going fast for sure,
- 21:12but he would, like we've we've seen morbidly go slow.
- 21:22I mean, I saw it, but when you saw Mark coming into the line,
- 21:26Mark was there and I think, I swear it was Bassini, but he sat
- 21:33up and Mark. Had an issue where Bassini was
- 21:35mad at Mark. Yeah, Mark impeded him.
- 21:39Something like that. But I know somebody stood up,
- 21:42somebody sat up and I was just watching.
- 21:44I was like, what the heck happened?
- 21:45So. Yeah.
- 21:47What are your thoughts, TJ on on the mark and Bassini and Bez?
- 21:52I think it's Luca. I think it was Bez and Luca, but
- 21:55you know there was. There was so many, so many
- 21:59impediments and, and that practice, I think it was like
- 22:03like 6 riders involved, like 3 defenses.
- 22:07But it, it's just that all these riders are just trying to stay
- 22:13close as possible to try to get a draft this long back straight.
- 22:16And you know, it's just that extra 10th because they're all
- 22:19running the same 22 O 1-2 minute two O 1.
- 22:23So you know, every 10th matters. So when 11 rider just slows down
- 22:28just a second, someone just gets mad like you know, but.
- 22:34There's a lot going. On like the the penalties that
- 22:37is just shuffling around the grid.
- 22:39I don't know if it's really worth it.
- 22:41Like you said, we've seen more fidelity going super slow.
- 22:44These riders know how to take a sharp line if they have to.
- 22:48It's just if they feel like they lose like 110th of a second, you
- 22:53know they're upset as them body. So it's.
- 22:56Just it's just hard. It's.
- 22:57Just you don't have enough time to get around to make another
- 22:59clean lap like that. You're burning your tires.
- 23:01So it's just you get frustrated. So I think it's more frustration
- 23:05if anything. I'll give you 1.
- 23:07I did see a lot of impedement coming through the S S like
- 23:12there was a lot cause if you don't make through the s s,
- 23:15there's a straight run off that goes straight onto the other
- 23:19side. So when they, they were just
- 23:21doing it a lot of times they weren't missing the s s.
- 23:25It was trying to see how deep they, you could watch them to
- 23:28see how deep they can go in to go straight and they'll just
- 23:31say, OK, I can go this deep. But instead they'll run straight
- 23:34to the run off and just going out the other side.
- 23:37But when you go through the out to the other side, the guy
- 23:41coming through the ass, this is right there behind you.
- 23:44So boom, you just did an impedement right there, right
- 23:48there. You did an impede and they were
- 23:49all doing it. I'm like, Jesus Christ, no man.
- 23:53It it the penalties, I hope they get it sorted out.
- 23:57Let's talk about it pretty a little bit more.
- 23:59I mean, you know, one or two in in the main race, you know, Bez
- 24:05crashed out. We talked about a guru a little
- 24:08bit, you know, doing what he's doing and and Fernandez, I mean,
- 24:13it's it's pretty impressive. I mean, let's talk about like
- 24:15Bezes crashing the sprints, right, because he's thrown away.
- 24:19This is second round now that he's still away some points in
- 24:22in the Sprint. And you know this, you know,
- 24:26even though Mark Marquez is is not 100% and Ducati might not be
- 24:31100%, he's not the type of person that's like going to go
- 24:33all season and not still try to get something.
- 24:36So you can't give away points. I mean is is you know, what are
- 24:40your thoughts on on, you know, Bez, his crashes where he's
- 24:44finishing in the points and then just a pretty overall we go with
- 24:47TJ first. Yeah, I mean.
- 24:50Like he's a master at the GP race.
- 24:54Like he's very impressive. You know, that's what's holding
- 24:57him down right now. He definitely have to figure out
- 25:01what's going on with him in the Sprint.
- 25:03I don't know if he's just trying to get too much of A pace in the
- 25:06beginning, knowing that it's shorter laps.
- 25:10But overall, pretty has been very impressive and it's really
- 25:14good to see that, you know, all four of them are pretty doing
- 25:18pretty well, especially Jorge Martin to help get all the good
- 25:22data and basically get all the points.
- 25:25But he's flirting with messing with his own championship after,
- 25:30you know, the type of season he's had last year going into
- 25:32this year. It's kind of like this is his
- 25:35chance in a way, but he can't just throw it out.
- 25:39You know, he's been in first place I think most of the time
- 25:42as well. So like, this is kind of
- 25:43something that Pekko used to do. He's just can't can't get into
- 25:47that, that that mode. You know, he's going to have to
- 25:50adjust and try to like result to, you know.
- 25:56Top five or? Something because the Sprint is
- 25:58only the first place to get 12 points, so you know you got to
- 26:02get at least something out of it, right?
- 26:04Right. Reece, do you think that a
- 26:06Prelia can sustain this kind of run all season?
- 26:09And if you're in the box, I mean, what are you, what are you
- 26:11telling Bez on these on these crashes?
- 26:13Because I I think Marquez finished figured that out early
- 26:16on last year and stopped crashing as much as he was at
- 26:19the beginning of the season. You know what your thoughts man.
- 26:23Well, I think that Prelia can withstand his all season.
- 26:25I mean, from what I saw, yeah. I mean, from what I saw over the
- 26:29race and over the weekend, I mean, they're really, they're
- 26:32are strong as hell. I mean, they are, they are one
- 26:35of the strongest on the grid right now.
- 26:37So I think they can withstand and and keep this pace up all
- 26:40season with Bez crashing. And there's there's two
- 26:45different races. There's a race within the race
- 26:48and there's a race being out front.
- 26:50Everyone can, you know, when you're chasing the rabbit or
- 26:54chasing someone or behind someone, it's a lot easier.
- 26:58But when you're out there in front and you're by yourself,
- 27:01it's a whole different race because you're trying to, you
- 27:04know, you stay focused, keep that pace, hit your marks, you
- 27:08can think a little bit more. So it's a different race within
- 27:11itself. Once you're up there out front.
- 27:14And I think with Bez, you know, there come it's it's almost like
- 27:20you can watch him. He's pushing, pushing, pushing.
- 27:23You have to actually, and a lot of guys, you know, from being on
- 27:26the, on the crew side, a lot of, a lot of riders don't pay
- 27:29attention to their board. They, you know, they don't see
- 27:31it. They'll, they just go, they'll
- 27:33just blow by it and they'll take a look at it maybe at once every
- 27:37three laps or once every four. Sometimes it's good to take a
- 27:40look at that board because if you actually notice, you can
- 27:44have a, a little bit of a gap and you can maintain that pace
- 27:48and kind of bring yourself back down.
- 27:50And I think that's what Bez has to learn how to do is maintain a
- 27:53gap and just maintain a pace, not try to push so much because
- 27:57it's almost like a, a, a mental break right there that he lost
- 28:01because it's like he just tucked the front.
- 28:03That was it. Now you.
- 28:04Know at the end of last season with him winning I I did pose
- 28:09this question and and I don't remember who laughed a little
- 28:12bit. Is he the closest thing to Rossi
- 28:16coming out of that VR46 Academy? Because I mean, the he looks
- 28:20like he he's having fun even though he's crashing.
- 28:23He you know, like when, when, when Bezek, not Bezek, he went
- 28:27when Bagnaya was winning. He didn't look like he's having
- 28:30the fun that Bez is having. Well and and Rossi had fun when
- 28:34he won. Let me answer that one too.
- 28:38Well, let's let's let. Me let me also say this, he had
- 28:41he's now set the record for leading the most laps in Moto GP
- 28:44history. He's won five in a row now.
- 28:48So he's got, he's in the record books.
- 28:50I mean, I know he needs like 4 titles.
- 28:53I know that, right? I mean, that's going to be what
- 28:54he's missing. But right now, the boy looks
- 28:57good, right? He looks good.
- 29:00I'm not going to say he does. As far as close to a Rossi, I
- 29:05mean, if you want to consider the flamboyant part, yeah, you
- 29:08know, he he wants to be the flamboyant in front of the
- 29:10camera. Yeah, that's that's a Rossi.
- 29:14The way he rides it almost reminds me of a Simocelli.
- 29:18OK, OK. I can see that, I can see that
- 29:21you know the way he. Rides and he's aggressive.
- 29:24It reminds me of a Simocelli. Yeah.
- 29:27I can see that. OK.
- 29:28All right. What are your thoughts, TJ?
- 29:32And I mean. If if you want to compare him to
- 29:34Rossi, I'll say he's probably the best closest since since
- 29:39him. I really think he is having a
- 29:41lot of fun. You know, I feel like he built
- 29:44up his fan base and trust in teammates and stuff like that
- 29:48where they kind of like want to give him the package and he's
- 29:52he's doing really well with it. And like he even said himself,
- 29:56he's having a lot of fun in the paddock.
- 29:57And like you said, he married his bike.
- 30:00He's been, he won 3 Grand Prix in a row.
- 30:05He's led the most last. Well, I mean like the the GP
- 30:09race, right? Right.
- 30:11Right. Oh well, yeah, the last. 5 but
- 30:12yeah, yeah, but yeah, I think he's having a lot of fun and the
- 30:20best thing is the bike's working well, so I mean the results are
- 30:24showing. So, you know, Valley was having
- 30:28a lot of fun every time he went, he had the crazy celebration and
- 30:31I think that's what's what's missing.
- 30:33But he got slight, slightly, a little bit of it with the
- 30:37beginning of the year with the advantage of the place and
- 30:40hopefully more to come. But we'll see.
- 30:42We'll see. Definitely I, I like the, the,
- 30:45the crowd dive in a little bit there.
- 30:48Let's talk about Martine before we move on to the other
- 30:51manufacturers. And all last week I said, can
- 30:54this man, what can he do to, to, to stay with Aprilia?
- 30:57Because at the end of the day, I think it's a win win if Aprilia
- 31:00can keep him and they stick around.
- 31:02I know they're going to 850 next year or whatever the case may
- 31:04be, but you know, he's sure looking pretty good to say, hey,
- 31:09maybe we can figure about the bad times.
- 31:12What are your thoughts about one week is not enough, one round is
- 31:15not enough? See you at the winter summer
- 31:17break. I, I think he's showing a lot.
- 31:23You know, it takes, there's a lot of riders who, who's been
- 31:27injured and it's, it takes him a while to pick up pace, even if
- 31:31the bike's not 100%, you know, keeping up with everyone.
- 31:35But he jumped right in after being injured, you know, like
- 31:383-4 times in a row. And to show that he could be top
- 31:43five, top three, get a podium. Yeah, you got to, you got to be
- 31:49considered. I mean, yeah, they had a lot of
- 31:51bad times before that. But you know.
- 31:56Time he was on the. Wounds it it it winning helps so
- 32:00as long as he don't do any stupid things like winning
- 32:03celebrations. So I think.
- 32:08He's in AI, think he'd be in a good shape but if.
- 32:12It's a tough. Decision on a prayer, you know,
- 32:14it's like they know what they're going through and what what they
- 32:17went through with him and then they're like, damn, he's
- 32:19winning. But we, we still have bad blood
- 32:23like, but you know, but he's winning.
- 32:25So you get somebody else like Juan Mir or something, and then
- 32:30like what? Listen.
- 32:32We're we're, we're, we're seeing.
- 32:35You know, NBANFL, NCAA coaches win titles and get fired or
- 32:41plays get traded after winning the title.
- 32:45You know, I, we, we, you know, grudges.
- 32:47Grudges are, you know, the root of all things, man.
- 32:51Yeah, I know. Go to war.
- 32:53What are? You what are your thoughts,
- 32:54Reese, man, I mean, you know, come on, I mean, would you if,
- 32:57if you were in the paddock? Are you, are you starting to
- 32:59talk to the, the CEO there of Aprilia?
- 33:03You're like, are you sitting here like, man, I ain't putting
- 33:05my job on the line yet for this guy.
- 33:08I don't know. I mean, it's still like, I mean,
- 33:10you don't know what goes on behind the scenes.
- 33:12I mean, you know, they could keep keep the stuff in house.
- 33:16Maybe they could have came to agreement or came to term and
- 33:19they could have put, you know, bury the hatchet.
- 33:22But it it's going to take a lot of humbleness from Martine to to
- 33:26come to apologize. And if you're very humble
- 33:28because, I mean, you left the bad taste in that in that
- 33:31manufacturer's mouth. Yeah, winning does help.
- 33:35It does show. But at the end of the day, are
- 33:41you OK just because you're winning?
- 33:43And if something goes wrong, are you going to go back to the
- 33:45media when it's clear and, you know, just splatter the name all
- 33:49over the place so that's, you know, they look at it and you
- 33:52also didn't. Help make the bike the what the
- 33:54bike is, right, you know? Basking any to that you just
- 33:57kind of piggyback off the bass and now you're like, I'm taking
- 34:00the winning ways and and showing this so you know you didn't come
- 34:04in from the jump and help you just pretty much bash the bike
- 34:07and said kind of screw it. Brilliant.
- 34:10Yeah, yeah. And.
- 34:11I agree. Yeah, I you said bastiony, but I
- 34:12know you meant Bez for Bez I'm. Sorry, you know they're they're.
- 34:16They're, they're Italians, man, you know they, you know, they
- 34:19all got the same. Name with AZ here and as you
- 34:21know, Jesus Christ right? So.
- 34:24You know they're both short. And both look like little kids.
- 34:28Yeah, I, I. I know we're going to move on
- 34:30from Ducati, but Morbideli, Alex Marquez, I mean, Alex Marquez
- 34:34finished fourth in the in the Sprint.
- 34:37Let's see what he did in the in the in the in the race real
- 34:40quick, just to make sure I'm in the right spot, 4th and 7th.
- 34:44You know, more of more more of a deli man.
- 34:48I mean, I don't know, he, he's like, I mean he world super
- 34:52bike. Yeah, I mean he.
- 34:53Like I, I tried, I mean, for two years easily, like the first
- 34:58after he left for Yamaha, I was like, yo, give this guy a
- 35:01chance, give this guy a chance. But I don't want to say he's
- 35:04like a disgruntled employee, but like you're, you're not helping
- 35:09the 'cause I mean like Didgia, like he's like, I need a
- 35:11contract, get on the podium, right?
- 35:14More videlity is just like let me just get the top 10.
- 35:20Jesus Christ, you. Know you stayed on a 24 bike
- 35:23like, you know, like, and, and, but Fermin is on a 24 bike and
- 35:30we see an Fermin is injured and we see what he's doing on a 24
- 35:33bike. So like, I don't is that, is
- 35:35that a head case kind of thing? I mean, like is, is, you know,
- 35:38is, is there a gypsy just moving from one rider to the next where
- 35:42they just put him in a fog because, you know, we saw it
- 35:44with Fernandez. I mean, you know, Morbidelli
- 35:48looks like he's happy and he feels good, You know, and I've
- 35:52been told by bosses, I, I don't have urgency in my voice.
- 35:57So I'm not saying he has to have urgency in his voice to to know
- 36:00what the situation is. But is this a guy that's just
- 36:03waiting to just to finish out a contract and just saying, OK,
- 36:06I'll go to World Super Bike next year?
- 36:09Pretty much. I think that's where it comes to
- 36:14we. Just start with TJ and then then
- 36:16Reese for the follow up. What your thoughts, man, on
- 36:19Mobidelli and Alex? I know I ranted more on
- 36:21Mobidelli because it's just like, we're rooting for this
- 36:24guy, man. But now you just, you know, the
- 36:26season's still young, but you know not for him.
- 36:30Yeah. Yeah, I think Mobidelli it's
- 36:34it's I think it's just the VR40 Sixers just trying to hold on to
- 36:38hold on to him. I, I don't know, but I, I think
- 36:40his world super bike time, he might be doing something else on
- 36:45the side and can't focus on Moto GP, whereas I don't know, he
- 36:49just can't keep the pace. Like something something's up
- 36:52where you know, like the here there some, some racist, he's
- 36:58showing himself some racist. He does some bonehead stuff and
- 37:02it's just very inconsistent. But like last year he had a
- 37:05chance to be very good, but he did a lot of bonehead stuff to,
- 37:10to 'cause that and I don't know, it's just time.
- 37:13As far as the Alex, I think they're both just in a fog.
- 37:17I don't know what the fog is, but you know, they just can't
- 37:21keep their pace up, you know like they did last year, but
- 37:25definitely trying to root for Alex to get get back to.
- 37:28I don't know if it's because whatever mark does like Mark has
- 37:34AI think a huge reference for him last year.
- 37:36Right, right. But I.
- 37:37Mean it got to be this. I mean, you would think that's
- 37:39the same. What are your what are your
- 37:41thoughts, Reese? Yeah, if I'm over deli, man,
- 37:45it's just time to go. It's time to time for, you know,
- 37:47different pastures and time to just move on and and try to
- 37:51redeem yourself into another series because this Moto GP
- 37:55ain't it. It ain't it for you, bro.
- 37:56It's it's, it's time to take Old Yeller Outback and put them out,
- 38:01put them out the passion to let it go, man, because you just
- 38:05ruining your career, right, Right.
- 38:07Is it? I mean, you know, some people
- 38:09lose the factory seat and feel like, you know, they're not the
- 38:12same. It's like, you know, some NBA
- 38:14players, you know, they don't want to come off the bench.
- 38:16They'd rather leave the NBA. That's not like a LeBron.
- 38:19Right there. But I mean, it could be.
- 38:25I mean, he's, I don't know man, he's just, I mean he really
- 38:30wasn't even doing nothing in factories.
- 38:31He the same position he's in on VR46 is the same position he's
- 38:35finishing in on factories. So what are you really doing?
- 38:38Like you, you lost the factory, but you're still doing the same
- 38:42exact crap. So maybe he was.
- 38:46Maybe it's just factory, but he's not injured now.
- 38:50So what's the difference? Yeah, we had to point it.
- 38:54Out for the audience, man. I can't put all the bodyguards
- 38:57you need. I mean, there's really no
- 39:01difference, man, I'm, I'm sorry. I was just like, yo, after a
- 39:04while, man, you got to think I keep paying you this money as a,
- 39:08as a, as an owner, I keep paying you this money, paying this
- 39:11money, whether it's 300,400 thousand, 1,000,000, whatever.
- 39:15I, I, I'm just paying you to hold a seat up.
- 39:17That's pretty much what it is. What am I paying you for?
- 39:21You know, and, and Digi over here is doing work.
- 39:24He wanted a bigger contract and he's putting in the work for it.
- 39:27So what are you really doing? You know, so it's, it's just
- 39:31maybe it's time to go and try something else.
- 39:32Maybe he'll be better on a production bike.
- 39:34You know that prototype, right? Right.
- 39:36No, it it's interesting. You know, some guys can be
- 39:38handed the keys or or women can be handled the keys to the
- 39:41Kingdom and and lose it all and other people who have to
- 39:44struggle because Didjia, he was on his way out with Grassini,
- 39:47right? And and the man had to literally
- 39:49win a contract, right? And now you see him getting the
- 39:5226th bike. And here's a guy that kind of,
- 39:55you know, you, you know, you can't get any, you can't have a,
- 39:57a better mentor than Valentino Rossi and, and, and be able to
- 40:02ride for him on his team bikes and stuff like that.
- 40:04And Moto 2. And it didn't happen for Moto GP
- 40:08though, but eventually came over.
- 40:10But still, you know, it, it, it, it is odd for, for mobility.
- 40:14So I, I, I have to say, I hope he's going through something
- 40:17and, and it gets sorted out because the dude's a talented
- 40:20rider. So you know, but you know,
- 40:22sometimes you're in the fog and it is what it is.
- 40:24Let's talk about KTM and Honda. You know, Diego Murira is, is,
- 40:30is looking good. Marini's looking good.
- 40:33He's starting to get better. Mayor with the crashes, Zarko
- 40:37with the crashes are like, you know, Zarko like, yeah, I feel
- 40:42bad for Zarko too, because it's like, you know, you, you had the
- 40:45French and then, you know, Silverstone last year, you're
- 40:48getting some pole. I've been thinking he had a pole
- 40:49position too and stuff like that.
- 40:51And then it's just kind of like he's he's in the weeds now.
- 40:55What are your thoughts on on on on Honda?
- 40:57And then we'll dive with the KTM and and World Super Bike.
- 41:02I mean, I think Honda's doing pretty good.
- 41:05Like, I mean like Luca Marini finished fifth in the Sprint.
- 41:09Mirror did crash, but I think he rejoined, but he didn't get any
- 41:12points. But yeah, there's still it's
- 41:16still in the back. Like Zarko 9th squeeze one point
- 41:20out. But Luca Marini's doing a lot
- 41:24better than the mirror. Like mirror still can't finish
- 41:28at Grand Prix for the life of him.
- 41:31And I I know he can pull out good results.
- 41:33Like he showed it in qualifying. And then, you know, just maybe
- 41:38we need more rain races for soccer to wake up.
- 41:41I think it just takes a couple Grand Prix for these guys to
- 41:44wake up. I don't know, when they feel
- 41:45like they don't have a shot, then they start doing really
- 41:48well. I don't know.
- 41:51But I think, I think Honda is still improving even though they
- 41:56didn't have the best results this weekend and I forget.
- 41:59What the other? Part of the question was.
- 42:02We'll we'll talk about KTM, but we'll get we'll get recess
- 42:05thoughts on it and then we'll jump into KTM.
- 42:09Marini right now is 10 in the 10th in the championship.
- 42:12So Honda's in the top 10. Granted all the Oprios are in
- 42:16the top 87. Pretty crazy.
- 42:22Well, your thoughts, man, Honda and they, they give us away some
- 42:27contingency, man. So, you know, they might be
- 42:30hiring, man. Congratulations, Aprilia.
- 42:35I mean, it's about time you showed up to the big dance.
- 42:39But with Honda. My question is with Honda, what
- 42:44the hell is Juwan Mirror's crash budget?
- 42:47God, Lee, that boy will crash a bike.
- 42:51Man, That budget's got to be out, out astronomical.
- 42:54He can't be making no money. They just pay it and pay it.
- 42:58But you know, Moreira, I mean, he's he's very impressive as a
- 43:03rookie. So I I will definitely give him
- 43:06that. Luka Manini is coming around, so
- 43:10he's coming off. I know he was coming off an
- 43:11injury. So he's he's coming back strong
- 43:15and so he looks really good. Zarko, I don't know, maybe they
- 43:21just lost their way on that, that end on the the Castro, they
- 43:24just on, you know, they just lost their way a little bit.
- 43:27They just trying to figure something out because I think
- 43:29they got the new bike, right. I think they got a factory bike
- 43:31I believe. So yeah, yeah.
- 43:33So I. Think they could have just lost
- 43:34their way a little bit. They just got to figure it out
- 43:37what they had to now just figure it out.
- 43:41I mean, he did look impressive. I mean, I was very impressed
- 43:43that he did. He was, I think it was the race,
- 43:48the regular race, he crashed out, but he still kept going to
- 43:50get data that he was in complete last.
- 43:54But it was it was good to see him and he was he was running a
- 43:57good pace. Like if you looked at his pace,
- 43:59he was still up there in the top, you know, top 12, top 10
- 44:03pace. So I mean, he just there's just
- 44:07little things he could like he said, you know, he could just
- 44:08have mental breakdowns just like anyone else.
- 44:11And like I said, it was, it was a scorcher out there.
- 44:14So that that plays a factor too, in your the heat, the brain.
- 44:19So, you know, I think they'll pull together.
- 44:23Yeah, I will. I.
- 44:24Will say I think Mayor has a good shot of getting on a
- 44:27podium, you know, before the rest of them because that's what
- 44:30he's fighting for. When he's crashing, he's he's
- 44:32fighting. He's, you know, he's, I think he
- 44:34was top five, six or something like that when he crashed out or
- 44:37something. So he's been he, He.
- 44:39Was top five and I was watching I was like damn mirrors all the
- 44:42way up there and not it was funny because as soon as I saw I
- 44:45was like give him about 33 laps he'll crash out sure enough, I
- 44:48heard mirror crashes told you I was like it's coming he'll crash
- 44:54out one of these sooner or later yeah, it's.
- 44:58It's hot. It's I mean, again, you know,
- 45:00Hopefully he'll find his rhythm because he is a nice writer.
- 45:03I think they should keep him as well and stuff like that.
- 45:06Let's talk about KTM because now Bastianini's throwing himself in
- 45:09the mix with with Pedro Acosta now on, on the KTM.
- 45:14And, you know, I got to kind of apologize to Maverick.
- 45:18I mean, the man is training so hard.
- 45:20He's shaking screws out his body.
- 45:23I mean, this is, you know, I mean, when was the last time you
- 45:26heard somebody, you know, loosening screws in their
- 45:29shoulder, Maverick? It's time for him to say bye bye
- 45:32and retire. It's time to go home, take your
- 45:36ball and go home. Did he train too?
- 45:37Hard in the offseason? No, he didn't.
- 45:40Maverick, come on. I, I, I lost, I lost a lot of
- 45:47love and respect for Maverick when he is very inconsistent and
- 45:50he was over on the blue. OK, all right, all right.
- 45:54He might. He might be one of the first
- 45:55ones to know something was wrong.
- 45:56I could not take. He actually he did know
- 45:58something was wrong. He just, well, everybody knew.
- 46:00Something wrong? But even he put a a statement
- 46:02out saying that he did wish you never left Yamaha, you wish you
- 46:05just stayed. So that tells you right there
- 46:08that he wish you just stayed. But hey, you just wanted to be a
- 46:10little child and do dumb stuff and blow the bike up, you know,
- 46:13whatever. So it is, you know, you know.
- 46:16Me and Chuck, Chuck's 50 bikes down the road, he almost
- 46:19destroyed an engine. I mean, you know, I don't know,
- 46:24but but well, you know, but I don't want to take away the
- 46:28shine from Bastianini because he's, you know, we gave him a
- 46:30lot of Flack last year, more you guys than I did.
- 46:33He, you know, he's seems to be coming around, getting quicker
- 46:37to the front. It's possible, you know, maybe
- 46:40by the summer break, this guy could be, you know, him, him,
- 46:43him. Acosta could be top.
- 46:47Five, Yeah. I mean, I'm, I'm convinced that
- 46:52these KTM writers that none of them talk to each other.
- 46:56I mean, I don't know how much teammates talk to each other,
- 46:58but I'm convinced that they just out there, just in their own
- 47:03world because it's just that's the Mimi's back.
- 47:07Is that what I'm saying? I mean like so I mean you.
- 47:17Got Pedro Costa, like his attitudes, like, I don't know,
- 47:23it's changed a little bit. Like he's very snappy, like,
- 47:25like the way he answers things, like I don't think he's really
- 47:30happy, but he's going to ride hard, you know?
- 47:34And Bastianini, I feel good. I feel happy that he got on the
- 47:38podium, you know, I feel like he definitely needs to get back in
- 47:42his own ways now. He's been struggling a lot
- 47:44lately, so be good to see him back up there in the top.
- 47:47And Maverick, I mean, I feel bad that he has a little screw that
- 47:51that does stuff. But like, now what?
- 47:54What's your timetable like? It's like another month and I
- 47:59don't know what he's going to have to have the training with
- 48:02the same guy again. And so I don't know.
- 48:06And then Bender is just, you know, Bender you.
- 48:10Know I will say Maverick last year was the fastest KTM until
- 48:13he got hurt parked the fire on the Acosta to do something and
- 48:18now Bashani is the second year on the KTM and maybe they're
- 48:21figuring something out yeah I I mean I think Ducati when they
- 48:24had eight bikes on the grid this seems like all the riders
- 48:27communicated and it seemed like that was that that is that is
- 48:30the best way moving forward and I don't know if Aprilia is doing
- 48:33it and KTM is not but it's good to see it's good to see Bashani
- 48:38up there because I do think these guys are talented and and
- 48:40deserve it Let's let's talk about.
- 48:46World super bike man. I mean, you know, and then and
- 48:48then you know, it was it's pretty crazy wanting to do
- 48:53Ducati all weekend. Oliveira on the BMWI mean, if
- 48:57Lewis was here, he'll just say he had the hometown bump.
- 49:01But if Portugal had over 80,000 people come out to World Super
- 49:06Bike, the biggest numbers since 2015 Bahrain.
- 49:12Is it just because Oliveira? Is it because World Super Bike
- 49:15is back? What do you guys think thought
- 49:18of World Super Bike? And, and I mean, I know Reese
- 49:21was at Coda so I don't know if he hadn't got a chance to watch
- 49:24it yet. What are your thoughts man?
- 49:27Yeah, I thought World Super bike is really good.
- 49:29I mean, I only pretty much saw the the big bikes, but yeah, I
- 49:35mean the same finishers, finishers for all three races.
- 49:40I think top five actually, that's the same.
- 49:42I I only looked. At top three but.
- 49:48Yeah, go ahead. But but yeah, it's just this,
- 49:52this right now it's the Booleaga show.
- 49:53It was really good to see equal lack of water out there fighting
- 49:58and definitely Miguel had a extra couple horsepowers, his
- 50:02home track and I thought it was pretty cool to see him actually
- 50:07get on the podium and please his fans.
- 50:09So I feel like every time we went to Porto Mile with with the
- 50:12GP is either hurt. One time Marquez hit him and you
- 50:16know, so you want the first one. What's that?
- 50:21I said he did win the. First one when they returned.
- 50:24Yeah, so when we got. Back on the GP calendar.
- 50:29But no, it was it I. Think.
- 50:31It was 20. I don't I don't know 1617 I
- 50:35would have to look it up, but they they did a thing on it.
- 50:38That's the reason why I know. What are your thoughts?
- 50:40Reese man on on the world super bike?
- 50:44You know Olivier already. He's got the the the turn out
- 50:47one and two. I mean, you heard TJ say it's
- 50:51the Bulliga show. You could say I'm only 2/10
- 50:54behind this mofo. So Oh no, I'm coming.
- 51:00No, I mean. I saw a little bit of it.
- 51:02I did get a chance to watch it a little bit.
- 51:04Not all of it, but I mean, the stuff I watched, I mean, it
- 51:08seemed like the Bullocker show. It should be the Bullocker show
- 51:12the whole season. You know, like, like Louis will
- 51:16tell you, I mean, being in front of the home fans, we'll give you
- 51:21that extra boost, that extra horsepower.
- 51:23So that does boost up Miguelo there.
- 51:26And you know, they have he had no one there to target him in
- 51:28fixation and run into him, you know, so so I mean, he better do
- 51:35something because this is at the end of the line here.
- 51:40But being in front of your home crowd gives you a big boost.
- 51:43I mean, you got to look at it, go back to GP, look at, you
- 51:45know, Joe Roberts. Joe Roberts ended up in 9th and
- 51:48Moto 2, you know, and that's in front of his home crowd.
- 51:51So, and he, he normally ends up 14th, 15th, you know, so being
- 51:55in front of your home crowd has a big, a big play in it.
- 51:58You know, it gives you a big boost and a big jolt of energy
- 52:01and say, I want to do this and I want to be more aggressive.
- 52:03So, you know, congratulations. I mean, it's just like I said,
- 52:06it's all the same top guys and top players.
- 52:09They're always going to be there.
- 52:10And you know, it's it's it is unfortunately it is Bulagas, you
- 52:17know, championship to lose. OK, I.
- 52:20I, I, I'll go with that. I'll go with that.
- 52:23But I think Ika's coming. I mean, I think Ika's sitting
- 52:25here like, man, that was a nicer rider than U Moto 2.
- 52:29I'm coming, you know, and, and you know, to go from 6th to 7th
- 52:35in the first round to be like, you know, OK, I'm, I'm, I'm
- 52:39behind you now. And he had to fight to the pack
- 52:42a little bit. I I think that, you know,
- 52:45halfway through the season, I think it's going to be close.
- 52:47I don't think I don't, I don't, I don't know if Bouliga Bouliga
- 52:50can't make it like any sport. I think it's going to be really
- 52:56close from what he's showing this this year.
- 53:00Not even seen. Montela is another rider on a
- 53:03Ducati. Sam Lowe's on a Ducati is
- 53:05another guy that that's showing some pace as well.
- 53:09So I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that's going to be
- 53:12Bulaga because these guys are seeing that.
- 53:15OK. If we put it together, we might
- 53:18be able to get there. Time with the no no.
- 53:24No, no doubt there. Let's let's talk about before we
- 53:29wrap and get out of here and I won't give you enough time
- 53:32because you have some stuff you want to get off your chest
- 53:33Threes world super bike and and and some of the Moto 2 stuff.
- 53:39So what happened in coda, man? What's going on, man?
- 53:42I mean, you know, you're, you're being noticed.
- 53:46I mean, it was nice to be out there and then get a couple, you
- 53:48know, I guess some people are saying that, you know, they saw
- 53:51and they recognized me from the podcast and stuff like that.
- 53:54And, you know, it was nice. So it it, you know, to everybody
- 53:57out there, you know, we appreciate all the love and
- 53:59respect and, you know, keep following and keep watching.
- 54:03You know, we'll make sure we have some good stuff on here for
- 54:05you. So that was actually kind of
- 54:06nice. But that's it.
- 54:11But no, no but. Everyone out here man, listen to
- 54:18everyone out here and I'm going to say this from a respectable
- 54:21point of view and from an inside crew member please.
- 54:26And this goes out to no disrespect to your riding level
- 54:29riding skills, just please, please ride your own ride.
- 54:33Do not try to think because you're buying AV 4, an R1, AZX
- 54:3910 or anything like that. Please do not think you're any
- 54:43of these guys out here on the track, any of the pro levels.
- 54:47Don't think that, you know, I know that Ducati's come out with
- 54:49a Super Leguera and you guys want to buy it and you think
- 54:53it's everything under the sun that we use on the track, which
- 54:57it is. But it.
- 54:59Takes a skilled rider to get the maximum performance out of that
- 55:04thing. And if you don't know what
- 55:07you're doing and you try to go above, you know, as my grandma
- 55:10would say, you ride faster than your angels are, you're not
- 55:13going to like the ending results.
- 55:17You know Tom Howerson that used to be here with Yamaha, he did a
- 55:21study on on riders and it was fact that the compression of
- 55:27your forks, the front forks, the average day St. rider will
- 55:32compress their forks about 20 to 32%.
- 55:37That's it. 25, no, sorry, 25 to 32%.
- 55:41The average day pro or semi pro level track day rider will
- 55:46compress their front forts about 45 to 50% compressed the average
- 55:54top guys on the pro circuit level from AMA.
- 55:57And we're talking about AMA. I'm not talking about GP level.
- 56:00That's a different line of level from moral super bike to even
- 56:03whatever they will compress their front forts about 98%.
- 56:09There is a big difference when you are trying to do this level.
- 56:14So I just strongly advise, just please, please stay within
- 56:21yourself and don't think that you're buying a bike, which is
- 56:24great, but just understand what you're buying because you know,
- 56:28Ducati is coming out of here with carbon ceramic rotors and
- 56:32carbon fiber forks and carbon fiber swing arms and frames.
- 56:36It's nice but understand what you are buying and getting
- 56:39yourself into also, you're not. Getting the engineers that come
- 56:42along to. Set up the bike.
- 56:46You're just getting the bike. You know engineers, right?
- 56:50At 247 horsepower at a race, easy to use.
- 56:53So just please understand what you're buying, yeah.
- 56:56No, I, yeah, I, I mean, you know, we, we, we do love the
- 56:59comments and, you know, we do this to, to entertain people
- 57:02and, and, and stuff like that. And, you know, we see it and,
- 57:07and, you know, I think that the best way I can, I can, you know,
- 57:12add to it is, is like, you know, like do the research, do the
- 57:17research. I, I think because sometimes,
- 57:19you know, folks comment and I wonder if they, they, they've
- 57:23done any research at all, even looked us up any bed to see what
- 57:27we are, who we are, what we're doing and stuff like that.
- 57:30Because nine times out of 10, I think if you do the research,
- 57:33you'll, you'll see that, you know, we, we, we have an idea
- 57:36what we're doing and what we're talking about and, and stuff
- 57:39like that. And, and we can always agree to
- 57:41disagree, but it's always good to do the research first because
- 57:46it's, it's, you know, it's kind of it is.
- 57:49You know, I've, I've had people come up to me and say, you sure?
- 57:51You know what time I'm like, listen man, I've been here 12
- 57:54years with Yamaha and you know, blessed to be on his side and
- 57:58I've been riding since O four. I've been in the track since O
- 58:018. So I've seen him come and go.
- 58:03You know, I've, I've had my amateur license, I've had, you
- 58:06know, some fun times and I still have it.
- 58:10But, you know, being on the on the factory side and seeing a
- 58:13lot of things, trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
- 58:17I just, I, I see it and it's like, man, slow down a little
- 58:21bit. Yeah.
- 58:23Yeah, yeah. And, and you know, and as we
- 58:24talk about on the show, right, because again, to, to, to go to
- 58:28your credibility, the business is such that if you're not good
- 58:32and know what you're doing, you're not there, you know,
- 58:34right. It's, it's as simple as that.
- 58:37So, you know, it's that, but we we do appreciate it.
- 58:41But you know, I don't, I don't want to pay for a bodyguard for
- 58:43this guy. So take it, take it easy on him
- 58:48asking for a photo or something like that.
- 58:53And. You know, dude.
- 58:55Definitely body Ducati because that bike does look nice.
- 58:59For 160 grand, they could stay right there.
- 59:04You know, I I I you know, I would have to at least have AGT
- 59:073 before I I would I would get that.
- 59:11But it it you know, it's, it's it's cool, right?
- 59:13I mean, and I think we're at an age with motorcycling with the
- 59:18the collectors and getting these cool motor, getting these one
- 59:21off bikes. So these limited production
- 59:23bikes, before there was occasional right there like
- 59:26anniversary bikes back in the day you were seeing, but now you
- 59:30know, Ducati, MV, Augusta, Triumph, I think even you know,
- 59:36BMW is doing it to a degree now Yamaha is starting to do it.
- 59:39Honda is starting to do it to a degree.
- 59:41It's starting to happen. Even Aprilia came.
- 59:42Out with that X model they just came out with.
- 59:44Then they just launched again, you know, and and.
- 59:46So that's where it is. The model is.
- 59:48But you know, yeah, you got to a a, you have to be on the track
- 59:52and you have to like, you know, I, I, I think if you, if you
- 59:56haven't been club racing for what I don't know, two to three
- 59:59years, you know what I'm saying? And that's minimum.
- 1:00:04But you know, but you'll see that two or three years if
- 1:00:07you're doing 10 rounds a year, you know, hauling your bikes up
- 1:00:10and down, you know, doing, you know, 4 to 6 races a weekend and
- 1:00:15you got some regional titles, then we then, then I think it's
- 1:00:18fair to say you can have a conversation.
- 1:00:20But like track days, no disrespect to track days, folks,
- 1:00:23It's, it's a whole different animal.
- 1:00:25I mean, it's not, it's, you know, my, my, we, we will joke
- 1:00:28about, you know, playing ball and stuff like that.
- 1:00:30But I'm not going to go big joke with Carmelo Anthony or some of
- 1:00:34these guys and, and think I can, I can actually run with them in
- 1:00:37my mind. I could, but I'm not going to
- 1:00:38sit here and, and go on their feed and tell them I can school
- 1:00:42them in the gym. I mean, I, I guess we've seen
- 1:00:43that too, because some of these guys are starting to play some
- 1:00:45players, but it's a different animal on, on the on the track,
- 1:00:49you know, you. Can do your research, that's it.
- 1:00:53Just do your research. Do your research on what you're
- 1:00:55buying, what you're riding. And you know what Rexy said.
- 1:01:00I mean, it's a different animal, but if you at least get out
- 1:01:02there to the track, you'll actually at least learn your
- 1:01:05bike. But it would make you that much
- 1:01:08of A sharper St. rider than you imagine, right?
- 1:01:11Right. You know, the, the, and the
- 1:01:13crazy thing, man, I, you know, we still, we still see people
- 1:01:17that talk about, you know, St. riding is, is better than, than
- 1:01:22track riding or safer or there's still people that just like they
- 1:01:27don't get it. But you know, you can't really
- 1:01:30talk about track or life if you if if you haven't been there,
- 1:01:32never been. On it, it's like you.
- 1:01:34Know one and done is not enough because it it you know like my
- 1:01:38first three years I still didn't know anything you know what I
- 1:01:41mean and and so but like once you get more immersed into it
- 1:01:44you realize like OK yeah, I had a guy.
- 1:01:47Argue with me saying that it takes more balls to be out on
- 1:01:53the street than it does on the track.
- 1:01:57I said, have you been on the track?
- 1:01:58I said I was like, listen, I'm coming through.
- 1:02:03If there's that much room I'm coming through, I'm coming
- 1:02:08through. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:12Not. Not it.
- 1:02:13It takes honest, honest to got it, you know, You know, I don't
- 1:02:17do it on the streets, but it takes nothing to dip to traffic
- 1:02:19on the streets, on a bike, in the straights, maybe some
- 1:02:22twisties, that's what we can talk.
- 1:02:24But on a straight I like I can do that all day all day.
- 1:02:28I man I can do that in my my 2:50 and make room much less.
- 1:02:35You. Have.
- 1:02:37No idea what you're talking about.
- 1:02:40On the street you can stay above 7000 RPMS basically like right?
- 1:02:46Exactly. Exactly, You know that that's
- 1:02:48the only part of we're not trying to disparage street
- 1:02:50riders or anything like that, but you can't really talk about
- 1:02:53the track and unless you really put some time in it, you know,
- 1:02:56and and then you'll get a better understanding.
- 1:02:58And most people that's got everyone that's done it like,
- 1:03:02you know, three to four years at the track that I've talked to,
- 1:03:04they they talk differently than than what I hear people comment
- 1:03:07on about the track. That hasn't been to the track
- 1:03:09that much. I've had a guy walk.
- 1:03:12By me at JP and he saw this kid, this was his first.
- 1:03:16He was from Dallas and he was, he rode his bike from Dallas all
- 1:03:20the way down to Austin. And he was like, man, I thought
- 1:03:23I could ride. And he was like, I've been
- 1:03:25riding for a couple for some years now.
- 1:03:27But he said the first time I saw these guys on the track, he
- 1:03:29said, yo, I can't ride for I was like, it's a different level.
- 1:03:34It it it. Is and, you know, and, and, you
- 1:03:37know, ego, whatever I mean it, you know, I, I think, like I
- 1:03:41said, the people that are in it, I, we're more realistic of, of,
- 1:03:44of what we, what we think of between St. riding and track
- 1:03:48riding. And I love the street.
- 1:03:49I mean, I, I, I, I ride, I was just talking to TJ earlier.
- 1:03:52I'm like, I mean, I want to get back to riding every day on the
- 1:03:54street again, because I do enjoy it, but I'm not riding on the
- 1:03:57streets, you know, trying to do 160 that that's not the pleasure
- 1:04:01I I get. And it's, you know, like I, we
- 1:04:04had Eric Woods on the other day, Eric Wood on the other day and
- 1:04:07talking about St. riding versus track riding and just the, you
- 1:04:10know, the different, the obstacles that are on the street
- 1:04:14and, and, and whether you know, it, it's worth it or not.
- 1:04:16I mean, for some people it is and they not even it's, you
- 1:04:19know, you know, I'm not trying to turn that show into that, but
- 1:04:21it's not because I've seen podcasts of other people that
- 1:04:25they're talking about how many friends they've lost, you know,
- 1:04:28from, from the street riding. So and I don't.
- 1:04:32I don't want. To do that, I've been in the
- 1:04:33industry too long and I would just want to see it keep
- 1:04:35growing, get back to where it was and, and I just want to, I
- 1:04:39enjoy meeting new people out there.
- 1:04:41I go to bike nights and I enjoy, I still enjoy the street as
- 1:04:44well. I still enjoy, I mean, I enjoy
- 1:04:46for what it is, the street. You go, have fun, go to get
- 1:04:49something to eat, go ride around with your buddies or go to a
- 1:04:51bike night. But I also enjoy the track life.
- 1:04:55Track life is where I can let loose and not worry about a car
- 1:04:58and not worry about anything if I do happen to go down.
- 1:05:00I know EMTs is right there on the team, but I actually go out
- 1:05:04there and I can actually push my bike to the actual limit a
- 1:05:07little bit. Not to the fullest limit, but I
- 1:05:10can get out there and and you know, push it. 55 limits.
- 1:05:16Right. Get to that point, but like, oh.
- 1:05:19I ain't doing that again. You know, I'll just before we
- 1:05:24get out of here, I was talking, you know, it's like you may not
- 1:05:26crash as a rider or a person in a car, but you can cause someone
- 1:05:31else to crash. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:05:33And I remember as a kid riding around doing foolishness as
- 1:05:36well. And I remember we, we caused
- 1:05:38other people to crash because they were paying attention to
- 1:05:39us. You, you know what I mean.
- 1:05:42And so, you know, you may go home and ride safe all the time
- 1:05:46and, and, and get home all the time, but you can cause an
- 1:05:48accident with someone else because of what you're doing.
- 1:05:50And, and that matters too, you know, So you know, it is, it is,
- 1:05:55you know that that's the last of it.
- 1:05:57We'll, we'll add, I'll add for the night.
- 1:06:01Lewis isn't here to talk about the scores.
- 1:06:03I don't know if I can. Do I have the scores I can show?
- 1:06:07Yeah, but you better. Have them scores.
- 1:06:08You better have them scores. He gets a.
- 1:06:10He get Lewis got ADNF because I didn't.
- 1:06:14Last week so. Oh, that sucks.
- 1:06:16Oh, come on, he. He that bad?
- 1:06:21He told her Jawad. Beer Aprilia.
- 1:06:23Aprilia. Aprilia baby and and if, if if
- 1:06:28Agura didn't crash out on Sunday, man it it would have
- 1:06:31been further. This is just this is just for I
- 1:06:33believe it's just for this round.
- 1:06:35It's not for the whole thing. I'll get the whole tally up.
- 1:06:40You can see the whole tally here.
- 1:06:41That's the whole tally. So 171.
- 1:06:50TJ got 144 and Reese is at 1. I got to maximize my screen 157.
- 1:06:57Yeah, yeah. So.
- 1:07:00Let's say how. How is Lewis going to catch up?
- 1:07:03We we're going to have to get a DNF?
- 1:07:05Exactly. It might, might, might, might
- 1:07:07be, you know, he's got. He's got to get perfect results.
- 1:07:11Well, you know, you know our. Our race direction is similar to
- 1:07:16Moto GP. The rules change every week.
- 1:07:22Subject to change so that now that.
- 1:07:26We know that, you know, somebody could mess around.
- 1:07:29They might have to give us their their predictions ahead of time.
- 1:07:32We'll get a DNF. The new rule starts.
- 1:07:39Now. So you know.
- 1:07:42We'll see. We got we got some time off.
- 1:07:45Well, you don't, Reese, and I don't, because I'll see you in
- 1:07:48a. Few weeks.
- 1:07:49And I wrote Atlanta. I got two weeks, man.
- 1:07:52I'm heading up. I'm I'm actually heading that
- 1:07:54way now. I'm in the West Coast and I'm
- 1:07:57heading east. Nice, nice.
- 1:07:58So so we'll we'll we'll definitely we keep it locked
- 1:08:01with with more podcasts than for sure, but we got a little time
- 1:08:05off for Moto GP and World Super Bike.
- 1:08:08But my name is Rex 45. It's the be forever cool
- 1:08:10podcast. I want to thank Reese from
- 1:08:12Attack, Yamaha, TJ from 2 Wheels and Coffee Peace.
