- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:13Only new life can defeat death. Welcome to What's Your least
- 0:18Favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:20the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of our
- 0:23favorite. And least favorite?
- 0:24Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:25movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:27If we don't always get it, my name's Travis.
- 0:29My name's Jessie. And welcome, everybody.
- 0:31We're bringing it back to our franchise coverage for this week
- 0:35of the month. And I mean, there's no Christmas
- 0:38movie this week, but it's OK, we've got final.
- 0:41Destination is like a gift of its own, yeah.
- 0:43Final destination too. It's it's a fun one.
- 0:46So I think that it's OK for us to make this exception this one
- 0:49time. Yeah, I I would think so.
- 0:50Yeah. So that's what we're going to be
- 0:52talking about today on the show. But before we get into anything,
- 0:56do you have? Anything to?
- 1:01New people don't even know what the hell I was about to ask, so
- 1:05all right, no. I don't have any announcements.
- 1:11Final destination too is your entrance to the the show, then
- 1:15welcome. So no announcements?
- 1:18Do we have a poll? No, we don't have polls either.
- 1:21It's listen, it's that time of year, traveling's happening, vet
- 1:25appointments are happening. I wasn't even going to bring it
- 1:27on just because I don't want to, like, admit that I haven't done
- 1:30a poll. Like it's just kind of where
- 1:32we're at right now. It's where we're at.
- 1:33Yeah. I'm sorry, guys.
- 1:34You know, anybody that's into that stuff.
- 1:36I mean, it's just like a lot of shit happening.
- 1:39And yeah, that's all it is really.
- 1:41We've just been very busy, so some things can't keep on top of
- 1:46social media all the time, unfortunately.
- 1:48Yeah, it happens. Yeah.
- 1:49Anyway, that's fine, because that means that we can get
- 1:53straight into Final Destination. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:55And I'm ready to do it if you are.
- 1:56Let's do it, OK? So Final Destination 2 released
- 2:00January 31st, 2003. We watched it on our DVD, but if
- 2:05you would like to watch it, you can watch it on HBO.
- 2:07Our DVD signed by Devin Sawa. Signed by Devin Sawa.
- 2:11He signed all four of the four pack.
- 2:13That's right, we got the four pack signed.
- 2:15We didn't say can you just sign the one movie that you're in?
- 2:18Can you sign the movie that you're in?
- 2:19Also the movie where it's revealed where you died by a
- 2:22brick to the head falling. To be fair, he did try and only
- 2:25sign in the final destination part and we were like you're
- 2:27Devin Sawa, you can sign wherever you want on the.
- 2:29Get a little bit into just because like we see your dead
- 2:32body in a Polaroid picture and you die in a very embarrassing
- 2:35manner. So like, you know, it's worth at
- 2:38least. Yeah, there are more
- 2:39embarrassing ways than a brick to the head it.
- 2:41Could be like one of the A's from the Sawa.
- 2:43That's all I need on the final destination two-part.
- 2:46But I mean, come on, man, He gets like a really bad death in
- 2:49the whole franchise. Like it's off screen.
- 2:52It fucking sucks. There's like a little bit about
- 2:54that I'll get into here in the fun facts, but you can also rent
- 2:57it on Amazon, YouTube, you know, all those places like that, you
- 3:00know? What do you mean all those
- 3:01places like that? Part of your job is to get
- 3:04together where to watch it. YouTube, Amazon Fandango at
- 3:07home. Thank you.
- 3:09Yes, you know those places like that where you rent movies, You
- 3:13know, like all Apple TV. Well, it's not available on all
- 3:16the rental places. Yeah, places you can rent
- 3:18things. I don't know, like I mean it is
- 3:21it is that that type of thing Moving on, moving on you.
- 3:25Stream it, You know, the places where you stream things.
- 3:27Yeah, exactly. Rent it.
- 3:28The places where you rent things, you know.
- 3:31Is the place where you watch stuff?
- 3:32Yeah. OK.
- 3:32All right. Written by Jay Mackie.
- 3:35Gruber, Eric Breasts with story and characters.
- 3:38Also by Jeffrey Reddick. OK, hey there.
- 3:40Hey, slight Christmas connection if that if one of the writers
- 3:44last name is Gruber. Gruber.
- 3:47As in Hans. Gruber, you're right.
- 3:49Hey, we're back, baby. We're back to a Christmas movie
- 3:52here. David R Ellis directed music by
- 3:56Shirley Walker. Special effects makeup by WTC
- 4:00Productions and also special effects by Digital Dimension.
- 4:05Starring AJ Cook as Kimberly Corman, Allie Water as Clear
- 4:08Rivers, Michael Lands as Thomas Burke, David Pat Cow as Evan
- 4:14Lewis, James Kirk as Tim Carpenter, Linda Boy, There's
- 4:17Nora Carpenter, Keegan Connor Tracy as Cat, Jonathan Cherry as
- 4:21Rory Terrence, TC Carson as Eugene Dicks, Justina Machado as
- 4:27Isabella Hudson and Tony Todd as Bloodworth.
- 4:30And Noah Fish as the Yeah. The kid explodes at the.
- 4:37End. Yeah, I think that's his last
- 4:38name. It's Noah something.
- 4:39Maybe fish? I don't know, I don't know.
- 4:43We do not care what you did, Carlisle.
- 4:47Yeah, OK, time for her favorite game on the show budget.
- 4:51Or budgeted. Jesse kind of spoiled this one
- 4:54last week because she picked this as one of her comparison
- 4:56movies for Dead End. So Jesse, do you remember?
- 4:59Do you have a memory of one week?
- 5:00Do you remember what the budget of Final Destination 2 is?
- 5:03I forgot that I even did it last week.
- 5:05You did? Yep, that's what happened.
- 5:08We talked about it already. If you listen last week, you
- 5:11know the answer. Or if you're like Jesse and
- 5:13cannot remember. Listen, it's done.
- 5:15We're done with dead end. It's out of my head.
- 5:17I only have so much stories. We've already forgotten we
- 5:19watched it again. At this point, we no longer
- 5:22remember that movie. That's just kind of how that
- 5:24movie works on you. Talia is not really happy with
- 5:27how things are. Progressing so mad right now.
- 5:30OK, Talia, we hear you. OK.
- 5:33So no guess, no guess. You're just going to leave it
- 5:36at, I don't think. It was a budget.
- 5:37OK. Yeah, it's budget.
- 5:38It's $26 million to make this movie.
- 5:40I did not remember that much. Opening Box Office 16,000,000
- 5:44Worldwide gross 90 Million IMDb 6.2 out of 10.
- 5:48OK. All right.
- 5:50So I have three other movies from 2003 to compare it to.
- 5:54Is one of them dead end? No, I didn't want to do that.
- 5:58I thought it was. 1. Of the funny my like one of the
- 6:00things like movies we talked about last week.
- 6:03It could have been. I could have done that, but I
- 6:06felt like that. It would have been funny, but it
- 6:08also would have been. Reached that level of camping
- 6:10stupid on this show yet? I don't know, that's for the
- 6:14people to decide. I you know, like I was at least
- 6:17tempted to do that but I decided not.
- 6:19I'll I'll get 3 fresh movies. I do have what I think is like a
- 6:24fitting theme. OK, so I have movie titles here
- 6:26that kind of fit some of the deaths that happened in this.
- 6:29Movie. OK, OK.
- 6:31Yeah, so the very first one into the mirror, because little Tim
- 6:35has that little slab of glass just fall right onto him.
- 6:40Come on. I mean, that's pretty good right
- 6:41there. Yeah, Little.
- 6:42Tim Littleton. He is big Tim by casting, but by
- 6:47writing he is a little Tim. He is a child, like a baby boy.
- 6:51OK, you say by writing, yet the dentist specifically asks if his
- 6:56mom knows he's smoking. I feel like they had to like,
- 6:58improvise that. Oh boy.
- 7:01OK, fine, Tiny Tim. Again.
- 7:03Back to Christmas. Back to Christmas, Tiny Tim.
- 7:07OK, Tiny Tim. Is Christmas, right?
- 7:08That's all over Twist. Yes.
- 7:10No. No Christmas Carol?
- 7:14Is that Christmas Carol? Tiny Tim?
- 7:16Yeah. Damn, I thought he was also
- 7:18there with Oliver trying to get some Porsche.
- 7:23Please, Sir. OK, so into the Mirror Release
- 7:29August 14th, 2000 Three $3 million Budget $70,000 gross
- 7:34IMDb 6.3 OK one point edge on Final Destination.
- 7:39Oh boy. All right, the second movie,
- 7:42Speed Demon. OK.
- 7:45Yeah, because, you know, a lot of people speeding on the
- 7:47freeway there, that kind of is a contributing factor to the
- 7:50deaths. I mean, they probably would have
- 7:52all died because of the logs anyways, but I think Eugene
- 7:54would have wrecked on that motorcycle with how he was
- 7:56driving. He was being a speed demon.
- 7:58I also think Cat's death ends up because, you know, they wreck
- 8:02her. Tire blows out.
- 8:03Yeah, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do
- 8:05with speed. That was just bad luck with the
- 8:07tire. I mean the the blowing out was
- 8:09worse because she was going fast like that made the crash worse.
- 8:13Yeah, I guess it's true. And the guy with the the fire
- 8:16department with the draws of life, they were too fast hitting
- 8:18the car with it. That's true too.
- 8:20Fast and too furious with it. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:22Yeah, so Speed Demon came out November 11th, 2003.
- 8:26I don't have any financials. It was a straight to TV movie I
- 8:29think. OK, OK. 2.3 out of 1090.
- 8:32Wow. Cool, not not hot.
- 8:35So people people not loving speed demon I know.
- 8:38And the final movie, Red Water, because we have somebody driving
- 8:42in the water and dying and drowning.
- 8:44Yeah, that released August 17th, 2003.
- 8:47I don't have financials, but it is a 4.2 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 8:51OK, so once again, I'm, I guess I'm learning.
- 8:55We're learning together. This this coverage that Final
- 8:57Destination is a series with many tag lines.
- 9:00Yeah, because I had to take another screenshot to cover all
- 9:02of these. That was fun.
- 9:04Yeah, it is. I hope it's fun.
- 9:06Sometimes you get a little samey and boring, and I did not vet
- 9:09these before I read any of them. So we're going through this for
- 9:11the first time together. Here, you're so irresponsible.
- 9:14Yeah, that's what that's part of the fun on the show.
- 9:18I think I have fun with it. I hope others do too.
- 9:22OK, I do have the one on the poster at least, and I did vet
- 9:25this one I wrote because I wrote this one down.
- 9:27For every beginning, there is an end.
- 9:31See, that's kind of that's kind of bland right there.
- 9:34I'm going to say. Though I feel like that works
- 9:36better as like an end to the series.
- 9:38Yeah, I was going to say, I feel like that would be a great
- 9:40tagline for the 5th installment. Yeah, that would have been way
- 9:43better for the fifth one. For sure.
- 9:45Without spoiling anything. Without spoiling anything.
- 9:47If you know, you know. Yeah.
- 9:49If you don't know, now you know. And if you're waiting to know,
- 9:52then we'll be there in a couple months.
- 9:54Eventually. Yeah.
- 9:56All right. So the other tag lines, it's not
- 9:59over yet. OK, any sequel, that's fine.
- 10:03Yeah, death is like a boomerang. It keeps coming back.
- 10:07Would be cool if we had a boomerang death.
- 10:10Yeah, that would have been really cool.
- 10:12I'm, I'm still not. Like, I still have the image of
- 10:16death being tied to Tony Todd because I always, like, expected
- 10:19him to be deaf in this movie. And now that right there makes
- 10:22me envision him as the form of a boomerang.
- 10:25And it doesn't really work as well for me because of that.
- 10:28Form of a boomerang. Yeah, he's a wonder twin.
- 10:31Yeah. Yeah, even Death gets a sequel.
- 10:34That's that's a good one, yeah. That's not bad.
- 10:37That's not bad. Only one person survived the
- 10:40crash of Flight 180 in the original film, and now death is
- 10:43back to finish off the job. OK, good job whoever wrote that
- 10:48I guess. I don't know.
- 10:50That sounds like us when we're trying to come up with our new
- 10:53tagline at the end. Yeah, where we're like mentally
- 10:55exhausted, like, yeah, death is like.
- 10:57Saying words, yeah. That's a good job to do.
- 11:00That's our new tagline. OK, my.
- 11:04My brain went death is back, all right.
- 11:07There we go, if if we could sing tag lands that would be even
- 11:10better. You can't cheat death, you can't
- 11:13hide from death, but you may be able to create a rift in deaths
- 11:17design. That's the whole premise of the
- 11:19entire franchise. Yeah, you could be next.
- 11:24Could be, maybe, should be possibly short.
- 11:29Shouldn't but shant you have to follow the signs.
- 11:33Or be aware of the signs rather than follow them, I think.
- 11:37That also works because this is like a road related 1 so like
- 11:40you know, signs like are on the road are kind of like a little
- 11:43bit more like it's not the best one, but it's not the worst one
- 11:47for every beginning there's an end.
- 11:49Oh, we already did that death may be closer than it appears.
- 11:54You can't cheat death twice that.
- 11:56They already proved that. That's that.
- 11:58You can actually tagline. More speed, more horror, more
- 12:02death. I like that.
- 12:05Speedier. Better your deathier.
- 12:08Daughter, this is the most horrish movie ever.
- 12:10It's so Horry. Listen, that's the real problem
- 12:14with my Annunciation in life in general, because people say like
- 12:18what type of movies you like to watch?
- 12:19Horror. Horror movies, I like to watch.
- 12:21Horror I like to watch. Yeah, I like to watch horror
- 12:23movies. The more horror the better.
- 12:28I love horror. I'm a whore fiend.
- 12:31OK, let's do some fun facts. Tiny's him is not impressed.
- 12:39We're doing him bad today. When the first movie did so
- 12:42well, they went to Jeffrey Reddick and it's like, hey, man,
- 12:45we like money. You like money.
- 12:47He's like, yeah, I like money. So he's like, hey, let's do
- 12:49another movie together. And he was into it.
- 12:52So this time he wanted to expand the mythos further and not
- 12:58retell the story of the first one.
- 13:00So instead of just repeating events and just basically doing
- 13:03the same thing, like let's expand the universe a bit.
- 13:07So with this right here, the original director did not return
- 13:11because he had already signed on to another project.
- 13:13So instead, they hired the second unit director and the
- 13:16stunt coordinator as the director of the movie.
- 13:19OK Yeah. Devin Sawa did not return due to
- 13:23the direction of the film, script and story.
- 13:25It was not anything to do with pay, which is what was rumoured
- 13:29for some time. OK, Yeah.
- 13:31Apparently some people thought that there was just, like, some
- 13:33kind of dispute about how much she would be paid for a sequel.
- 13:35But that wasn't it. All he just didn't want.
- 13:37TO just didn't like the story that was presented.
- 13:40Yeah, which maybe that's why I would be like, well, fine, man,
- 13:42if you don't do it, we'll just kill you with a fallen brick.
- 13:44OK. Like, unless that was always
- 13:46part of the plan. Yeah, and I wonder if he was
- 13:48meant to take Clear's place, which I could see why that would
- 13:51be an issue, because that was essentially how he almost ended.
- 13:54The first one was being locked up in that cabin trying to avoid
- 13:57death at all costs. I can see that being a I don't
- 14:00want to repeat that storyline. Yeah, and I guess like after
- 14:04that happened, they did reach out to Allie Arter and she was
- 14:07really into it. So like, she didn't have a
- 14:09problem reprising her role. So that's they went with that
- 14:13direction. So that is why we get queer
- 14:14instead of Alex in this movie, which makes sense.
- 14:18Yeah. Funny thing, Mary Elizabeth
- 14:19Winstead actually did audition for a role in this movie because
- 14:22she liked the first one so much. Oh wow, so she.
- 14:24Didn't get a role in this one. But we'll talk about her next.
- 14:27Month. Next month, yeah, and the third
- 14:28one. So they shot it in Van Vancouver
- 14:31with the farm and the lake stuff being shot in New York.
- 14:34OK the underwater stuff was actually done in a lake and a in
- 14:41a tank also. So they did 2 separate like
- 14:44versions of it. However, the lake, when they did
- 14:46the underwater scenes in the lake, it was 37° waters that
- 14:49they were having to do this in and 93° on the tank that they
- 14:52had. And actually, AJ Cook and
- 14:55Michael Lance did both of their stunts for that.
- 14:59I think it's Michael Landis. That's what I thought too, but I
- 15:01also tried to look up pronunciation and I it's lands.
- 15:04I've heard Landis but. OK, Michael Landis.
- 15:06People say people's names wrong all the time though, so I could
- 15:08have heard it wrong. Anyway, let's.
- 15:10Do Michael Landis Michael Landis and AJ Cook did their own stunts
- 15:13for those scenes where they had to go underwater, which is
- 15:16actually impressive, especially since AJ Cook is terrified of
- 15:19being underwater. Apparently being stuck in a
- 15:22vehicle underwater is one of her biggest fears of all time.
- 15:25Well, and they're shooting it in an actual lake, so that's extra
- 15:29scary. Yeah.
- 15:30The tank I'd be a little less afraid of because that's more of
- 15:32a controlled. Environment.
- 15:34Yeah, a little bit more. Yeah.
- 15:36She, she took lessons with scuba divers, though, to help prepare.
- 15:40You know, I guess that helps because, like, it helps you,
- 15:42like, learn to stay calm and control your breathing whenever
- 15:45you're down there because if you start to panic and start to get
- 15:48really short of breath and that kind of really limits your time.
- 15:51Speaking of Cook, AJ Cook, Kimberly.
- 15:53She had to dye her hair brown in order to avoid confusion between
- 15:57Allie Water and her friend from the beginning of the movie.
- 16:00He was also a blonde. Which is also funny because
- 16:03Allie Lilarder was not blonde in the first movie.
- 16:07No, she. Won't means at some point while
- 16:09she is voluntarily in a psychiatric hold she.
- 16:13Dyes her hair, Yeah. Or was she dyeing her hair when
- 16:16she was out and that was her natural color when she went into
- 16:18the facility? Kabim an earlier.
- 16:21Draft. I suspect it has something to do
- 16:23around the filming of Legally Blonde.
- 16:26Oh, I forgot. She wasn't Legally Blonde, was
- 16:28that? That was around this time,
- 16:29wasn't it? Yeah.
- 16:30She had to be blonde and that then.
- 16:31Yeah. So an earlier draft of the film
- 16:33actually did have a relationship between Burke and Kim.
- 16:37Baby, baby, baby. See that's the thing that Jesse
- 16:41and I have like started to pick up now that we've been covering
- 16:43these is that like these relationships just kind of like
- 16:47go into hyperdrive between these two like 2 main characters in
- 16:51the movie, they always like seem to like become infatuated with
- 16:54each. Other it it'll be really nice in
- 16:55four and five that we just have pre established relationships.
- 16:58Yeah, exactly. So, yeah, they originally had
- 17:03that, but Landis said that they ended up scrapping it because
- 17:06his cop is or his character is a cop and they didn't necessarily
- 17:10want him to be kind of like a skeevy kind of cop or anything
- 17:13like that. They want him to be like, you
- 17:15know, not abuse his power in that situation.
- 17:17They thought it would be a little bit a little bit weird
- 17:19dynamic. Yeah, especially because she
- 17:24definitely she's even younger. She's cool.
- 17:26Yeah. I assume college.
- 17:27I assume it was meant to be like a spring break.
- 17:29Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:30And he's like in his 30s at that point.
- 17:32So yeah, it's a little bit off, yeah, age wise there.
- 17:36I have always had that suspicion myself, which I mean, it makes
- 17:41sense because there are still elements of that and.
- 17:43Like she gives them a little smooch on the cheek.
- 17:46Yeah, she does. And he said that they did kind
- 17:48of leave some things open-ended. They're just in case.
- 17:51Like it gives the impression that like, hey, something can
- 17:54form after the end of this. I mean, it ends with them going
- 17:56to a BBQ. Yeah, you know, together.
- 17:59Like, I mean, it seems like something did in the budding,
- 18:01but we don't actually. I mean, it could have just been
- 18:03friendship, who knows? It could have been, yeah.
- 18:05But we do know that it was planned to be like that at
- 18:08least. So I got some information on in
- 18:11the intro with like the whole scene on the wreck.
- 18:16OK, so OK, the premonition scene, the premonition scene,
- 18:20digital dimension. The CG supervisor Jason Crosby,
- 18:24he he point I'm reading this from Wikipedia here, pointed out
- 18:26that the studio was mainly selected for the highway
- 18:29sequence after the crew realized real logs only bounced about an
- 18:32inch off the road when they dropped from a.
- 18:33Logging truck. Oh wow.
- 18:35Yeah. So this is going to be nice.
- 18:38Anybody that gets behind a log? Truck.
- 18:41I'm going to maybe relieve some of your some of your fears here
- 18:45just a tad, but not enough for you to.
- 18:46I was going to say, half of the cars that wreck in that
- 18:48premonition scene are wrecking because they're hitting the
- 18:50logs. It's not because the logs
- 18:51bounce. All right, good news is it's not
- 18:53going to bounce off the ground and like impale the windshield
- 18:56and go right through your head. Bad news, it's still going to go
- 19:00through your torso, like it's going to like bring the engine
- 19:03through you. It's still not going to be fun,
- 19:06but at least it's not hitting the face OK?
- 19:09Die pretty. And so they were concerned about
- 19:12how they would make the shot happen, not knowing if CG would
- 19:15work. The timing was great because we
- 19:16had just finished a test shot of our CG logs bouncing on the
- 19:19freeway. We sent a tape to Vancouver and
- 19:21after seeing it, the crew was convinced that any of the logs
- 19:23could be done with CG. It began with R&D on log
- 19:27dynamics. Scripts were written to help
- 19:29manage the dynamic simulations with the real world numbers of
- 19:32for gravity, density, etcetera. The results were remarkably
- 19:35similar to their original log shot in Vancouver, a testament
- 19:39to the accuracy of the software and the data we had collected.
- 19:42However, the logs still lack the jumping through windshield's
- 19:44killer instinct we were looking for.
- 19:47By tweaking the parameters, we coax the logs into a much
- 19:50livelier role. OK, so yeah, it's not, it's not
- 19:55realistic for them to be bouncing like that, but they,
- 19:59you know, they they fucked with like physics in that scene right
- 20:03there just to get so they had. Some some metaphysical fuckery.
- 20:06However, oh boy, there were no, I mean they, they did CG the
- 20:10logs, but everything else in that scene was shot with like
- 20:13real shit. They did not do CG cars, they
- 20:15did not do CG bodies. They did the live cast of all
- 20:17the actors. So when we are seeing those cars
- 20:20wreck everything like that, that is all legitimate.
- 20:23OK. Which is I thought pretty
- 20:24interesting that they did most of that without any CG because
- 20:27that is like a shit show of a scene.
- 20:30So which I guess it helps to have the sun guy as a director
- 20:33cuz he can probably like, yeah, visualize that type of thing a
- 20:36lot better than, you know, some people would since that's kind
- 20:38of his area of expertise. Yeah, I can see that, yeah.
- 20:41But yeah, that's it for my fun facts.
- 20:42OK, yeah, so we've got that out of the way now.
- 20:46So we're gonna talk about what we liked and don't like and all
- 20:48that jazz, and that means you kick it off, Jesse.
- 20:51So what do you like about this one?
- 20:53I do like that this feels a lot expanded, like it feels much
- 20:58more like it brings it out into the world more, and it really
- 21:02takes into account those rippling consequences.
- 21:06And I especially think it's really poignant.
- 21:09You know, how they were all impacted by Flight 180 in some
- 21:13way, shape or form. And it would have.
- 21:15They're all being targeted because they would have been
- 21:20targeted. They would have been, yeah.
- 21:22Yeah, I really like that. I like that they still weaved it
- 21:25with the first one and like made it a ripple effect from the
- 21:28events of that one because that's the thing that kind of
- 21:29gets lost in the shovel with these other movies.
- 21:31Yes, exactly. I think the next two movies
- 21:34especially kind of really lose that sense of connection to to
- 21:38the Flight 180. Which they they did want to make
- 21:41this one feel stand alone, but then again they also brought
- 21:44like returning cast members and stuff so.
- 21:46Yeah, yeah. This is one that you can watch
- 21:48on its own. You don't have to have seen the
- 21:50first one. Yeah, you get all of the
- 21:52background that you need for it, and I think that's fine and it
- 21:56stands alone on its own movie. But if you have seen the first
- 21:58one, it really does expand upon that.
- 22:01The reverse death thing is still a little confusing to me, like
- 22:05why it's going in the reverse order but.
- 22:07Yeah, cuz that's another thing like these first two movies that
- 22:09kind of do things that they just kind of no longer do.
- 22:11So like it's death just trying to tie up with sins.
- 22:14So it's like OK, fuck it. Like if I'm working that way it
- 22:16doesn't work. So I'm gonna start from the end
- 22:18and go that way. Like, I don't know.
- 22:21So when we covered Saw, we talked a lot about how they
- 22:24managed to maintain that continuity, mostly because they,
- 22:27even when they threw in hints of like this, this moment happened.
- 22:32But we didn't, you know, like Amanda gets that letter.
- 22:34We don't know what the letter says until several movies later,
- 22:36and the writers didn't know what the letter said until several
- 22:39movies later. It's like they wrote a thing
- 22:41that was consequential to the script without writing
- 22:43themselves into a corner with it.
- 22:46So that's how the Saw movies were able to maintain some of
- 22:49that continuity. Yeah, I think Final Destination
- 22:51doesn't do quite as good a job about it because it's gonna keep
- 22:54introducing these death rules. That just makes it harder to do
- 22:58sequels. Yeah, that's true.
- 23:00Yeah. But I think overall this one is
- 23:02probably I'm I'm really curious how I'm gonna feel about ranking
- 23:06these in a few months and we're putting them all in order.
- 23:09It's. Gonna be tough.
- 23:10But I think this is one of the better written of the of the
- 23:15Final Destination movies. Yeah, I agree.
- 23:19So, and I think I, I think it's interesting having a bigger cast
- 23:24and them not having a connection to each other the way everybody
- 23:27did in the first one. Yeah.
- 23:29And they're all more adult, so they have a little bit more
- 23:32agency than they did in the first one.
- 23:34I think it it it's it was a good shift into dynamics.
- 23:37Yeah, You know, it's that's the thing that I've kind of realized
- 23:40with this because I know it started off, the first one
- 23:43started off as like a teen screen.
- 23:44Like they changed the characters in the teens from adults, but
- 23:48we've never really gotten like adult adults being other than
- 23:53maybe the newest one that has a few characters like that.
- 23:57But even then that our like it's.
- 23:58Only like a result of like a certain situation like it, yeah,
- 24:02the premonitions never really come to anybody that is like
- 24:05older. Yeah, it's always young adult
- 24:07aged, so like. 20s. At yeah, at the oldest, yeah,
- 24:12always like high school, college age, so or very or like
- 24:15internship age. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:17So yeah, it's weird. What did you think was good?
- 24:20I liked how I feel like a lot of the things were more relatable
- 24:25this time, like it touched a more relatable base of people
- 24:30with the deaths this time. Around This is what people think
- 24:34of when they think of Final Destination.
- 24:36What screwed you up for life? The the log truck.
- 24:39I'm already terrified of planes, but yeah, planes are like
- 24:45they're less common of like a. An experience.
- 24:47Yeah, exactly. Like I I've never flown before
- 24:49and I feel like that's pretty common for a lot of people.
- 24:51But being on the road is something that a lot of people
- 24:54experience everyday. It's a lot more difficult to not
- 24:56experience that. Like even if you don't own a
- 24:58vehicle, like you're on a bus or something, you take like public
- 25:00transportation. It's it's something that is more
- 25:03there and it's like it's more grounded and more just relatable
- 25:08to people, I think, especially me.
- 25:10So yeah, I think it has the best opening in the entire franchise
- 25:13for sure. I love the characters in this
- 25:15movie. I feel like they're all really
- 25:17interesting. Well, most of them are.
- 25:20I think it's just mostly like some of the like the the
- 25:23secondary characters like Rory, like Jonathan Cherry's character
- 25:26especially really shine for me. Yeah, and we've talked about
- 25:30Jonathan Cherry before. He was consistently one of our
- 25:33favorite parts of the Wolf Cop movies.
- 25:35Yeah, Wolf cop. That's that's he's really fun.
- 25:38He's I mean, that's kind of his whole thing is he's basically
- 25:40like a comedic relief guy. I've never seen him in anything
- 25:43that's been serious, but he does it so well.
- 25:45And like he was their favorite character to write in this
- 25:47movie, according to to them. And he also like made every
- 25:50scene better just based off of his delivery.
- 25:52He would always like punch up the scenes and stuff like that
- 25:54too. So like, you know, it's just a
- 25:56lot of fun. I I like that.
- 26:00Let's see, what else. Do we want to go to the bed?
- 26:03Yeah, I guess I just go on to the bed, you know that.
- 26:05I mean, there's not much else good to say about this one.
- 26:07It's just like, it's just, it's fun.
- 26:10Like I, I like it, you know, like I feel like they did a
- 26:12really good job of expanding on the first one, like you said.
- 26:15I think for me, what's really hard is the the writing with
- 26:20Nora and Tim is so all over the fucking place.
- 26:24Yeah, they're. Confusing.
- 26:25So distractingly bad. Tiny Tim, Like seriously, Like,
- 26:29I mean, didn't we look into this one time?
- 26:31Like wasn't he supposed to be a younger character?
- 26:33I do. I think we, I think I remember
- 26:35you did a dive on this once before because we were both
- 26:37like, we were both so confused after like watching this movie
- 26:40so many times. Yeah, it's so confusing because
- 26:42like, like the way he is in the car, like he's banging on.
- 26:46Yeah. Like he's using empty water
- 26:47bottles. Like that's his whole shit too,
- 26:49OK Yeah, but like it's the way he's doing it.
- 26:53OK. And it like it doesn't help that
- 26:56it comes right after we see another small child in the front
- 26:58seat of a car playing with the toy cars.
- 27:00Yeah, Yeah. And then he's got his dentist
- 27:03appointment and it looks like he's almost in a kids dentist
- 27:06office because of the decorations and stuff that are
- 27:09going on. And then the the chasing of the
- 27:14pigeons, like all of that feels very coded for like a child.
- 27:18Yeah, like 9-10 years old. But then we've got moments where
- 27:22like the dentist asks if he's been smoking and he makes that
- 27:28joke to his mom, like completely out of pocket where he's like,
- 27:31if he gives me the gas and I wake up with my pants on button,
- 27:34we ain't paying. She's like, she said.
- 27:36That's so funny, Tim. Oh my God, he's going to be a
- 27:38comedian. She's so caught off guard by it
- 27:41because it's like, where did that come from?
- 27:43Like I feel like they're trying to make him have like an edgy
- 27:46sense of humor and maybe they were trying to age up some of
- 27:48the dialogue for him. I don't know.
- 27:51It is so confusing and Tim and Nora consistently make me the
- 27:56most uncomfortable in this movie.
- 27:58They're and they're not even really in it that long either.
- 28:02I'm trying to find it right here to see if there's anything that
- 28:05said anything. I swear to God I feel like we we
- 28:08looked that up. And like he's reading Bag of
- 28:10Bones by Stephen King. So it's like an older, but you
- 28:14know what I mean? Like it's just, it's so
- 28:17confusing. I can't find anything exactly
- 28:19but I swear we we figured out that like he.
- 28:23Would I don't know if we actually looked it up or if we
- 28:25just assume that that's what's happened because we've seen that
- 28:27happen in other shows and movies before where they have it
- 28:29written for a younger actor or younger.
- 28:32Character. I just found it.
- 28:33The character of Tim was supposed to be 9 and then 13,
- 28:37but New Line Cinema decided it wasn't OK to kill off a little
- 28:40kid, so they eventually settled on the age of 15.
- 28:43That kids, there's no way that kid is 15 even even.
- 28:48Yeah, see, that's the thing. They they leftover some of the
- 28:51stuff as like a child, but then they're like, we'll punch up.
- 28:54Like let's make him like talk like a 15 year old.
- 28:56It's weird. Yeah.
- 28:58It's it's very unbalanced. Yeah, it does kind of throw some
- 29:02stuff off a little bit for sure. Is that really your only bad?
- 29:05That's my biggest bad of it all. And I think it's funny because
- 29:09Final Destination will get over not wanting to kill children.
- 29:11Oh yeah, they will. They will get over it.
- 29:14But yes, they will. OK.
- 29:16So I, I guess mine, I, I OK. I just don't think Kim is like a
- 29:24strong weeding person. And I think I figured out why,
- 29:27because, like, wait, I'm just gonna like, peek behind the
- 29:30curtains. Jesse and I kind of already
- 29:31talked about this. Yeah, we're re recording some
- 29:33stuff. This had our recording got.
- 29:35Fucked up for a second there. So we already kind of talked
- 29:37about this, but as we were talking, I think I figured out
- 29:39why she's kind of weak. So she's a little bit more
- 29:43forgettable as one of the main characters that has
- 29:45premonitions, I think because Claire Rivers comes in to steal
- 29:48the show from her in this movie. I think there's part of the
- 29:51Claire Rivers energy because she is like, you know, somebody that
- 29:55understands the death's design thing.
- 29:56And Ally Larder is just a very magnetic performer also.
- 29:59Yeah, but there's also, we get so little of like a
- 30:06characterization for her because this is something that I see
- 30:09people talk about online a lot, is they don't understand why
- 30:12she's friends with those three people in the car that she's
- 30:15with because they give no. In this one, Kimberly, her
- 30:18friends that are in the car with her, a lot of people don't
- 30:22really understand why they're all friends because those three
- 30:26people don't seem to mesh with Kimberly, which of course she
- 30:29would have a major personality shift after such a huge event.
- 30:31We're getting to see her in her natural.
- 30:34State yeah, we're not seeing her joke around and laugh with her
- 30:36friends before she gets the premonition.
- 30:38Like, you know, think about the first movie we see Devin Sawa
- 30:41and TO single D they go bubby dumps Yeah, like.
- 30:46That guy you did not like is talking about group poops.
- 30:49Without her, she's like, if anybody's group pooping, it's me
- 30:53and anybody else. Her and Obie.
- 30:55In the backyard. Obie's the neighbor dog.
- 30:59Obie's the neighbor. No, it it just, we don't get
- 31:04that sense of who she is before the crash.
- 31:06So we don't know how much the crash has affected her other
- 31:09than like, duh, people are affected by a major atrocity
- 31:13like. That, yeah, I think that's a big
- 31:15part of it, yeah. We don't get a good sense of her
- 31:17character before everything. Goes down.
- 31:18Because we just see her leaving and it basically just kind of
- 31:22all starts from there. Yeah, that's definitely a part
- 31:25of. So it's a combination of that.
- 31:26And also I think queer taking over because like even on the
- 31:29marketing queer like they put Ally Larder like front and
- 31:32center. Instead of.
- 31:33Kimberly, which Kimberly should be like Kimberly and Burke
- 31:36should be the two leads in this. Yeah, I think Ally Larder might
- 31:39be a with situation. I would.
- 31:41That's how I would see it, but I guess it may be marketing they
- 31:44were really trying to push. Her Oh yeah, I could definitely
- 31:46see that. I mean, she and she is here for
- 31:48half the movie. But yeah, it does, especially
- 31:53because spoiler, maybe I'll beat this out.
- 32:09Yeah. So it just it's it's just really
- 32:11config because AJ Cook is a good actress.
- 32:13Like I know her from Criminal Minds and she is like a
- 32:16memorable character on that show.
- 32:18It's just weird that this is because I consistently forget
- 32:21like, Oh yeah, that's that's JJ. Yeah, see, I don't watch that
- 32:25show. So yeah, it just doesn't have
- 32:26that. Same.
- 32:27If you are unfamiliar with that actor, she does not.
- 32:29She's unremarkable in this. Yeah.
- 32:32As a character, at least. Yeah.
- 32:33OK, ugly stuff. I'm gonna go with drinking and
- 32:40driving. Yeah.
- 32:42Small children sitting in the front seat of the car, that's
- 32:45not safe. They have to be bigger than that
- 32:47to be safe is. That the kid with the two.
- 32:49I thought we were talking about Tiny Tim for a second.
- 32:51No. OK, in some iterations, it's
- 32:54probably ugly because it's not only like, a size issue, but
- 32:58it's also like children bones aren't.
- 33:02Yeah, like they shouldn't be up front.
- 33:04It's just dangerous. But they heal better.
- 33:06They do. Heal.
- 33:07So if that law comes at them, they might be able to recover
- 33:09from that. Except the airbags are created
- 33:12for a larger person. They could just, you know, have
- 33:15bad things happen to them in that front seat.
- 33:18I'm not 4 kids getting like by the way just to be clear.
- 33:23And I guess also all of the people that are coming out of
- 33:28the woodwork for Evan Lewis after he.
- 33:31Went oh, man, yeah. Like I know he's he's soaking it
- 33:34in at that time. I'm like dude, know that these
- 33:37people are just trying to drain you.
- 33:39And also like, he's still living in that shitty apartment and
- 33:42he's just like buying a bunch of so like, I don't know, you and I
- 33:45have talked about this. If we won a $250,000 lottery,
- 33:48we're paying off our debts and we're buying our house outright.
- 33:51And then because that takes off the pressure for the rest of
- 33:54your life. Yeah, but The thing is, again, I
- 33:56think this guy is also young. How would I have done that
- 33:59whenever I was his age? I would probably would have went
- 34:01out and bought myself a computer and shit too.
- 34:03OK, OK, my ugly is the fucking hook guy sniffing or his hair in
- 34:08the elevator That guy. Why do we?
- 34:11Keep talking about movies with men sniffing women.
- 34:15Yeah, stop sniffing. Stop smelling good.
- 34:19That's what we say a sniffers. I don't sniffer.
- 34:23You just aligned yourself with the sniffers.
- 34:25I did, yeah. I don't know.
- 34:28Yeah. Like, it's kind of like a weird
- 34:31thing. I think it's really just this
- 34:32era because rest stuff came out around this time, too.
- 34:35Jessie's over there hiding her hair from me.
- 34:37Yeah, I've never you. You are the one that like come,
- 34:40you're like, come sniff my hair. Yeah, the one time a week when I
- 34:44wash it, I'm like, smell how good it is.
- 34:45And I do, and I get it. I'm just kidding people.
- 34:52I do not sniff random women's hair in the elevator.
- 34:55He sniffs when I consent. Yeah, yeah, I don't even ask
- 35:00for. It consensual sniffing.
- 35:02It just is presented to me. I'm like, OK, sure, whatever.
- 35:06Absurd. That fucking cop that doesn't
- 35:09know what to do with Isabella like.
- 35:11Man, I feel bad. Second.
- 35:13Week on the job. That like you have a woman, a
- 35:17pregnant woman in custody and she starts like her water
- 35:19breaks. That is a panic moment.
- 35:21You know, like I understand. Where they were in a a tiny
- 35:24little Township where there is apparently only one cop car.
- 35:28So the cop car was in there and she's like.
- 35:31I get it. And then she made him stay with
- 35:33her in the delivery room, too. Yeah.
- 35:36Which like we don't touch on this very much but like it's
- 35:39implied that her and her partner or maybe like separating or
- 35:43going through something bad because she immediately assumes
- 35:45it's him that reported the van stolen.
- 35:48I thought that she assumed that he stole the van.
- 35:52See that's not how I took the tone.
- 35:55OK either way there it seems like maybe it's not cuz she's
- 35:58also not like call my husband. Yeah, that's true.
- 36:01Yeah, you're right. Yeah, my absurd is why do they
- 36:07have a BBQ with the family that they wrecked on their farm at
- 36:11the end of the movie? Like they had just had like a
- 36:13just an incident that happened months and like prior and like
- 36:18there was no connection there. They bolted out of there as soon
- 36:20as they found out that Hudson. Isabella.
- 36:24Isabella. Yeah, was having her baby.
- 36:26So they, I don't even think she, like any of those two
- 36:29characters, interacted with anybody.
- 36:31Rory saved little vampire's life.
- 36:35Yeah. And like that was it.
- 36:39Yeah. Like if somebody drove through
- 36:41our neighborhood, knocked down some of our like we're not
- 36:45friends with the bus driver that knocked over our mailbox like we
- 36:49wanted. To be friends.
- 36:52But we haven't invited him over for a BBQ, you know what I mean?
- 36:55Like it is just, I don't know, maybe we're just not nice
- 36:58people, but. No, it's weird.
- 37:00It's weird. OK?
- 37:01I'm just saying I don't understand why they had that.
- 37:04They had to kill that kid. They had to kill a little
- 37:06vampire at the end of the movie. That was it.
- 37:08Driving me crazy. I need to look up what his last
- 37:11name is. OK, well why are you looking it
- 37:12up? I'll go over my other absurds so
- 37:15the other one is queer. Keeps a Polaroid picture of
- 37:17Alex's dead body and her. Noel Fisher.
- 37:21I was close. Noel Fisher.
- 37:22OK. Noah Fish.
- 37:23It's Noel Fisher. Noel Fisher OK, a little vampire
- 37:26from Twilight. Who does not care what Carlisle
- 37:30did? Carlisle did, yeah.
- 37:32OK, so again Clear keeps a Polaroid of Alex's dead body in
- 37:37her cell her her room, which I think is very strange.
- 37:42No thoughts. If you die before me, I'm going
- 37:46to have polaroids of your dead body on.
- 37:47My dead body after I got hit in the head with a brick.
- 37:51Yeah. It's so embarrassing.
- 37:53And I'll sniff the pictures. OK, And finally, that one scene
- 37:59when we're at Burke's place for like the meeting between all the
- 38:03survivors and he has like every sport.
- 38:05He has every sport. He has a bowling ball on the
- 38:08fucking shelf of his closet. That is so dangerous.
- 38:11Man, he has a kayak, he's got all the skates.
- 38:15Inline ice fishing. Rollers.
- 38:18He's got fishing poles, he does all of the outdoor sports and
- 38:21I'm sorry, he doesn't seem that outdoorsy.
- 38:24No, I just like they were like, let's gym this tiny apartment
- 38:29with all of the things that could kill you and then
- 38:31apparently it's just sports that can kill you.
- 38:33So sporty. What that tells me is that we're
- 38:36correct in being arty folks and not sporty folks.
- 38:40Yeah. OK, well what do we, what do we
- 38:44rate this? Oh, this is a really solid one.
- 38:46I'm going to give it a nine and a.
- 38:48Half. OK.
- 38:49Oh boy, it's tough. I don't want to give these all
- 38:5210s. I gave the first one a 10
- 38:54because it's fucking great. This one's also fucking great.
- 38:59Let's do 9. OK, I'm not worried about giving
- 39:02them all 10s because I know I'm not going to.
- 39:04OK, 92. 59.25 to start. All right, so Kimberly's asleep
- 39:10as the news is saying it's the one year anniversary tomorrow
- 39:13with Flight 180. They're interviewing a guy who
- 39:16speaks of Death's design. Because we're just really
- 39:19hammering this thought. This guy's got it down.
- 39:21He's nailed it. Yeah, he's actually speaking the
- 39:24truth of, like, what Bloodworth is saying.
- 39:26Like death is a force that surrounds everything and
- 39:28everyone at all times. Yep.
- 39:30Has a grand design, and as he's talking about it, there's a gust
- 39:35of wind that wakes up Kimberly so she can catch the TV just to
- 39:38listen about this a little bit. Also, there's a really spooky
- 39:41spider in her bedroom. Yeah, like, we're not in the
- 39:44Southwest. Why do we have a spider this
- 39:46large? Yeah, it's upsetting.
- 39:49I don't like it's upsetting. That's not good.
- 39:51In the morning, her and her dad are loading the car.
- 39:54The dad is being kind of a worrywart, which makes sense
- 39:57because it's a that's a long fucking drive from New York to
- 40:01Daytona new. York to Daytona, that is like,
- 40:04that's like days like. You're in pricey to Daytona is
- 40:08over 12 hours. It's, yeah, it's pretty close to
- 40:12that, yeah. I can't imagine adding and
- 40:15multiple more states to that. That's that's insane.
- 40:18Her friend is there and making inappropriate sex jokes.
- 40:24Yeah, she's like, it's OK, your dad's cool.
- 40:26Like he doesn't seem cool with it, like.
- 40:28Yeah, yeah. That's.
- 40:30And also, it doesn't seem like Kimberly is comfortable with it.
- 40:32Like, that's what I'm saying. Like we don't get a sense of her
- 40:34personality around her friends. Yeah, we don't.
- 40:37No. And as she's driving away she
- 40:40her dad notices some fluid on the ground, so he checks it and
- 40:43ends up being transmission fluid.
- 40:45So he calls her and tells her to get it taken care of right away,
- 40:47which I feel like that's a major kind of leak that your engine
- 40:50will seize up. If you if you speaking to
- 40:53somebody who has had transmission problems with their
- 40:55car before, it fucking sucks. It's just like you need that
- 40:59shit to work for you to be able to make any long trip.
- 41:02I've had transmission fluid leak and that's an immediate like
- 41:07loud screechy alert on my car. And I hate how our friends like
- 41:12Kimberly, It's OK. The car is going to be OK.
- 41:14We're going to. It's going to be OK.
- 41:15Everything's going to be OK. No, it's not.
- 41:18It's not like it's like you have to fix the fucking car, OK?
- 41:21Like, I get it. It's not your car.
- 41:23You don't give a shit. But like, come on.
- 41:25This is just extra stress for Kimberly.
- 41:27It actually ends up having nothing to do with her
- 41:29premonition. Yeah, I know, right?
- 41:30It's just like this bad shit happening to her and.
- 41:33It's going to be fine anyway, because apparently her dad's
- 41:35rich enough that she immediately gets a Volkswagen Beetle.
- 41:38As a replacement insurance come on, her car was totaled.
- 41:43Her tar was totaled. That tar got codaled.
- 41:47Damn, damn, I tell you what. Anyway.
- 41:53Yeah, so they're on the Interstate.
- 41:56And as they're about to drive onto the Interstate, they're on
- 41:58the ramp. This homeless woman comes over
- 42:00and, like, kind of comes up to their windshield and just like,
- 42:03her bag busts and cans go everywhere.
- 42:06Her friends are kind of assholes and laugh at her.
- 42:08They're on the Interstate now. They're driving.
- 42:10Yeah, and Dano has some weed that he doesn't want the cops to
- 42:14be aware of. We see a bus from Mount Abraham
- 42:18High School and they're all chanting pile up.
- 42:20I I read something. That's the school from the first
- 42:22movie. Yeah, I didn't know that before.
- 42:26Even if you didn't know it before, they mentioned it about
- 42:285000 times that a class from Mount Abraham High School was on
- 42:32a plane and. I Who listens to the little
- 42:35details of things like that? Me.
- 42:38Well, for you people out there that are like me, you're welcome
- 42:42for a little fun fact. Let's see, the radio plays
- 42:47Highway to Hell. Isn't it ironic?
- 42:50Let's see, there's a guy revving his car.
- 42:52That's Evan. Kimberly's dad calls to say that
- 42:55she has a transmission fluid leak.
- 42:58I need to get that taken care of right away.
- 43:01The cop is behind them, so she tries to change lanes because
- 43:06Dano's freaking out and she almost hits a truck.
- 43:09So it's bad. Dano throws a joint out the
- 43:13window and it lands on Cat's windshield and catches debris on
- 43:16fire. And she's like, annoyed.
- 43:18And she looks over and he's just like, like, and she's just like,
- 43:22I don't have time for this. OK.
- 43:26So as they're driving, there's a walk truck that drives by
- 43:29everybody. Well, they also drive by.
- 43:32I wrote down all of the, like, ironic signs that she sees.
- 43:35OK, because they also have the beer truck with the driver
- 43:38drinking. Yeah, we've got the kid that's
- 43:40playing with the toy trucks and making them smash each other.
- 43:43Color vehicle as her and the the lock truck too.
- 43:48So yeah. There's Rory snorting coke and
- 43:51Foe fronting on the cop after he like passes because like he
- 43:55freaks out as the cop is passing by and he's going.
- 43:57To do bust me, bitch. And Jesse?
- 44:00Pinkman. Yeah, the cop notices that one
- 44:05of the cables has come loose on the log truck in front of them
- 44:08and the cable comes loose, A chain comes loose, the logs
- 44:11start falling off, and this is when we get into a chain of
- 44:15different crashes. Burke's the 1st to go because
- 44:19the log bounces right through his windshield and just get some
- 44:24Let's see. Then I tried to.
- 44:25I I. Yeah.
- 44:27I was going to say, I hope you have these notes.
- 44:29I had the sign notes. I had the ironic sign notes.
- 44:32So after that, we see Eugene, who's trying to swerve around on
- 44:35his motorcycle, and it causes him to fall off and slide into
- 44:38one of the rocks. And then as that happens, his
- 44:41motorcycle slides into him, pinning him, and I'm going to
- 44:45assume like cutting him in. Half.
- 44:46I will say though, Eugene was wearing all the like, right,
- 44:50safety equipment for a motorcycle.
- 44:52Yeah, I think it can't help in a situation like this.
- 44:54But I know motorcycles, like it's like in some places it's
- 44:58illegal to split lanes, but it's incredibly dangerous, like
- 45:01especially on the Interstate. And he was driving pretty
- 45:04reckless here. He just kind of like rolls his
- 45:07vehicle and then he ends up getting hit by the truck.
- 45:10Cat I think also hits a log and she.
- 45:13Hits a log, yeah, a head on and just straight up flips over it.
- 45:17Tim and Nora, they just explode. They hit I think one of the gas
- 45:22tanks of one of the vehicles and then just.
- 45:25Tim, does your mother know you've been drinking gasoline?
- 45:28Kim and her friends and they just kind of flip.
- 45:30Around. Yeah, and they're on the side
- 45:32and they're watching all of this go down.
- 45:34And then Kim, through the smoke comes a semi.
- 45:38Well. Before that, Kim sees Evan, who
- 45:40is also he kind of like got in an explosion with his car and
- 45:44he's burning. He can't get his seat belt on
- 45:46watch. So and as he's burning there,
- 45:49that's when the truck just like comes to the flames, runs him
- 45:51over and then a meet like goes like right towards Kim.
- 45:55She comes to you, she's back where that woman is with her
- 45:58cans by by the Interstate entrance and she tells her
- 46:03friends what she just saw and she freaks out and she ends up
- 46:06blocking the entrance ramp. And of course Burke, the cop, he
- 46:10comes up and he's trying to talk to her and figure out what's
- 46:12going on. She gets out of the car and
- 46:14she's trying to explain and everybody behind is pissed,
- 46:18fucking annoyed. I.
- 46:19Would be too, if I were like a driver here, yeah.
- 46:23I'd be upset. I wouldn't get out of my car
- 46:26though. I would just be annoyed in yeah.
- 46:28That's how it would be, too, especially after the cop pulled
- 46:31up. Yeah.
- 46:32OK, so I do have a problem with this.
- 46:34OK. So with all that going on there,
- 46:36we see the like so much time has passed since she merged on
- 46:43there. Like we see the log truck follow
- 46:45so much later from where we actually see in the premonition
- 46:48in the premonition, it's kind of up there with all of them to
- 46:50begin with. So that log truck like it's just
- 46:53kind of like way further back after she snaps into and I just
- 46:59like it just kind of causes it to like the timing of everything
- 47:03is does not align. And then this is also extra
- 47:05confusing because as she's out there talking to the cop and
- 47:08they're trying to sort it out, he goes to call in the log truck
- 47:13creating those accidents and whatnot.
- 47:15And then all of a sudden we just see him run up and pull her out
- 47:19of the way and the semi hits her car.
- 47:22Her car isn't all the way in the road, it's blocking the
- 47:25entrance. Yeah, but I think the wreck had
- 47:28already started, so that might have been somebody trying to
- 47:30swerve out of the way. Maybe.
- 47:32That's the only way I could rationalize that.
- 47:35Maybe so, yeah. She almost got killed, but Burke
- 47:38intervenes and saves her life. Yeah, and her friends are?
- 47:42Dead. Super dead.
- 47:45So at the cop station, Kimberly is like explaining her
- 47:47premonition and everybody's talking about the connection to
- 47:50180 and explaining it a little bit further.
- 47:52For those who don't know, Officer Burke says the only one
- 47:57still alive from 180 is clear. So this is how we learned that
- 48:02Alex did not survive after Paris, Tim and Nora leave
- 48:08because Nora just she doesn't have time for this and
- 48:10Kimberly's dad arrives to bring her home and give her her new
- 48:14car. Yeah, back home, she's asked if
- 48:16her mom had visions like that, too.
- 48:18And I guess it. Does not run in the family.
- 48:20Yeah, like that was not a very super well explored thread line.
- 48:26No, it wasn't. No, like, we're just like, oh,
- 48:29we need to establish that her mom's dead.
- 48:32Take some notes from Hallmark movies, man.
- 48:34They get that point across hard and fast and.
- 48:37Yes, immediately show a family picture and then show her
- 48:41staring at it sadly. 1 glistening tear down her cheek.
- 48:46Whitman, Burke, be like You miss her, huh?
- 48:49Yeah, or like, or like Dad being like, don't forget you need to
- 48:52be home by the 13th so we can do our annual tradition of
- 48:56remembering your mother's tragic passing.
- 48:58Yeah, like when she got robbed, we got to be back.
- 49:01You got to be home so we can remember when your mom got
- 49:03robbed. That's just so fucking morbid,
- 49:14man. Do you feel good about this?
- 49:17Yeah, I do. Yeah, OK, So Evan Lewis, he's
- 49:22going back up to his shitty apartment, but he's he's OK.
- 49:25He won the lottery and he just cheated us.
- 49:28He's in. Great spirit.
- 49:29Did you notice in the hallway there's toys there and there's a
- 49:31toy of an ambulance and a baby next to each other?
- 49:36Oh. I did, yeah.
- 49:37I was trying to like, you know, give us some plot points here.
- 49:40Did you notice that he goes in, He's listening to these
- 49:43voicemails from these thirsty hoes, and that's all gender.
- 49:47I wouldn't know that the the bro is sorry like Evan, you lucky
- 49:51fuck let's talk you know like they just want to hang out with
- 49:54them the. Girls are trying to gold dig.
- 49:56No, no, the friends they're doing bro eagle digging.
- 50:00It's absolutely, it's it's all gender, OK?
- 50:04It's absolutely like, yeah, let's talk, man.
- 50:06Bro, you got to invest in my business idea, bro.
- 50:10Dude, this absolutely was happening.
- 50:12It's a shame that this didn't happen in modern times because
- 50:15I'd be like, bro, I've got this new crypto.
- 50:18But yeah, so he's got this going and he's like starting to cook
- 50:21food. There's magnets on the side of
- 50:26his fridge and it's HEYE. So it's like hey E like hey
- 50:31Evan. And he like takes out some take
- 50:34out from his fridge and one of the magnets falls in so it just
- 50:36leaves. I had noticed that.
- 50:38Before, Yeah. And then that also means that
- 50:40the magnet is in his food, so he puts it in the microwave oven.
- 50:43Microwaves notoriously don't like stuff like that.
- 50:45So it starts to sparkle a little bit.
- 50:48He doesn't notice because he's got his fancy new ring that he's
- 50:50got to drop immediately down the garbage disposal.
- 50:52I call shenanigans on this shitty little apartment actually
- 50:55having a garbage disposal. Yeah, we've.
- 50:58Had a garbage disposal in exactly one of our apartments we
- 51:01lived in. Those were billed as luxury.
- 51:03Yeah, you're right. So I'm a little tip, little
- 51:06Travis pro tip for anybody that drops anything because Jesse has
- 51:09dropped a ring down the drain before and I've.
- 51:12Got pipes? You pipes exist.
- 51:13You pipe at the bottom underneath your sink.
- 51:15You just unscrew it. It's there.
- 51:16It's not going to go go anywhere if you don't wash it away.
- 51:19Yep, just just unscrew that pipe and screw it right back on.
- 51:22OK, That's all you gotta do. You don't have to dig your hand
- 51:25down into the sink. So he's stuck in there as the
- 51:30microwave starts sparking and his oven, it's a gas oven and he
- 51:35spilled oil and didn't clean it up very well.
- 51:37So that's starting to create a fire.
- 51:40It's a whole big issue. He is, and his music is getting
- 51:44really loud and aggressive as he's feeling.
- 51:46So fitting for a year like it's actually one of the songs like
- 51:49that. Like it ramps up the.
- 51:50Yeah, intensity. Of everything it's it's a great
- 51:53moment. He's trying to like, wave away
- 51:55the fire with a washcloth and what he's.
- 51:57Doing 'cause I thought he was trying to, like, that was such a
- 51:59stupid movement. He's just like, smacks it off of
- 52:02the like, what did you think was gonna happen, man?
- 52:04Yeah, we have to deprive it of oxygen.
- 52:06Like, you can't do that by just doing that.
- 52:07You're just giving him more air. So he eventually gets his hand
- 52:10out and he gets the fire extinguisher.
- 52:13Here is how you know how to use a fire extinguisher.
- 52:16Use the mnemonic device Pass P pull the pin A aim S squeeze, as
- 52:26in squeeze the trigger, and then S sweep, Sweep.
- 52:30Yeah, that's pass. Boy, look at this.
- 52:33We're we're we're given all kinds of good safety tips on
- 52:36this episode today. This has become an informative.
- 52:38Podcast PSA. So now you can take out that
- 52:44fire while you have your ring in the sink.
- 52:46Exactly. You can avoid this scenario.
- 52:48Here, but the fire extinguisher is not enough, so he ends up
- 52:51going out the fire escape. The ladder is a little bit stuck
- 52:54and he ends up kind of falling down to the sidewalk and he
- 52:56slips on his own spaghetti that he threw out the window before,
- 52:59which I also call shenanigans on that spaghetti still being.
- 53:03So pretty. Yeah, cuz there's congealed and
- 53:06gross. Dude like pasta just out of the
- 53:09fucking thing for a minute. Yeah, pasta hits air and it's
- 53:12like I'm stuck together. I'm immediately deprived of all
- 53:15moisture. It's.
- 53:16Like a crusty old person. It's SpongeBob in that episode
- 53:20of Water. Yeah, water.
- 53:22You're right. Yeah.
- 53:24So he falls on his back and the ladder falls right above his
- 53:29head. Not enough to get him.
- 53:30He breaks a. Sigh of relief.
- 53:31Move his face. He doesn't.
- 53:34Flinch because he's not a bitch. Are you, Finch, that mean you
- 53:40love your mother-in-law? That.
- 53:41Also mean you die cuz the ladder goes through the eye.
- 53:44How about that rhyme right there?
- 53:46Oh boy, that's right. So we see Burke.
- 53:50He is doing cop research on Flight 180 death premonitions we
- 53:57see. They have all of the aftermath
- 53:59scenes of everybody's death, which is fucking morbid.
- 54:02He's probably on rotten.com here.
- 54:04Do this thing that movies do that they just hope people
- 54:09aren't going to pay too much attention to, where they just
- 54:11take like stills from the first movie and plug them into
- 54:15newspaper articles. Like, that's something that they
- 54:18would have like, there's like a shot of Alex and Todd, like at
- 54:21the funeral, like. Just like they ran shot of them
- 54:26on the toilet. It was like friend of Flight 180
- 54:30premonitioner dies in bathroom and looks like a picture of them
- 54:33at the funeral. I was like, that wasn't a
- 54:34picture that was ever actually taken by anybody.
- 54:36I will say that the death scenes like the death shots like those
- 54:39are yeah from. What we saw, yes they are.
- 54:41They are. Then we got to a montage of
- 54:44everybody in their own homes from this wreck, like talking to
- 54:48people and be like whoa, this is crazy.
- 54:49And then the news comes on and they're like oh shit, that guy
- 54:52was one of the ones that was saved in the wreck with us.
- 54:56Oh no. Nora brings Tim a pill to help
- 55:00him sleep. He is reading Bag of Bones by
- 55:03Stephen King. Just thought it was worth a
- 55:06note. I I noticed as soon as you saw
- 55:08that book cover he like pulled up your phone to woke.
- 55:10Up. Yeah.
- 55:11I was like, I wanna, I wanna know which book it was.
- 55:12Yeah, 'cause it was just, I mean, it it, I think it would
- 55:18have been fun if it had been something more like The Dead
- 55:21Zone. That would have been a better
- 55:23book, yeah. Well, the little Tiny Tim has to
- 55:27get tucked in by mommy. Here he is, Tiny Tim.
- 55:30Come on man, it's a Christmas. Movie.
- 55:32All right, we're talking. Tim, Tiny teenage Tim gets
- 55:37tucked in. Look at that.
- 55:38How's that for alliteration Right there, Tuck and tiny
- 55:42teenage Tim. And then again, it's just kind
- 55:45of reinforced, like, hey, this kid is way too old for this
- 55:48shit. I wish he'd been in a race card
- 55:50bed or something. Like a fucking crib.
- 55:59Oh God, okay. Kimberly reads about Clear
- 56:02online and gets directions to Stony Brook, which is where she
- 56:05has checked herself into. When she gets there, she has to
- 56:09relinquish anything that's potentially dangerous, and the
- 56:12person bringing Kimberly in reveals that she's voluntary.
- 56:15And I'm gonna go ahead and call shenanigans on this, because
- 56:19what insurance does she have that's agreeing to let her stay
- 56:21there indefinitely? If people could do this, people
- 56:24would just be doing this to avoid homelessness, you know
- 56:26what I mean? That's just like, it's not a
- 56:28realistic thing. Like generally places like that
- 56:31are if you're in a situation where you don't have a safer
- 56:34stable housing situation to go back to where it would be so
- 56:37unmanaged with your mental health issues that it would
- 56:43create danger to yourself or others.
- 56:46But generally, like if it's like it, it's just like going to the
- 56:51ER, you get stabilized and then you go home.
- 56:54Like why is this person in the ERI don't know they just want to
- 56:56be here. Yeah, like.
- 56:57They get they can leave whenever they want to, OK?
- 56:59That's not how the ER works. There have been plenty of times
- 57:02that I'm like, I'm still in incredible pain and I'm like,
- 57:04yeah, but we can't do anything for you.
- 57:06Bye. That sucks.
- 57:08Sorry. Wow, that's really awful.
- 57:11Take some ibuprofen. Damn dude.
- 57:14So anyway, Clear explains that they that there's an order like
- 57:19she she says, you know, Alex realized that all of the deaths
- 57:22were happening in the order they would have happened on the
- 57:24plane. And Kimberly was like, well,
- 57:25this is weird because we're kind of going backwards because me
- 57:28and my friends died last. And Clear says what she used to
- 57:32do is just recognize the signs. She needs to pay attention for
- 57:36anything that might seem like kind of ironic or in your face,
- 57:40but she's not going to go out and help.
- 57:41She's like, you know, we didn't beat anything, like you might as
- 57:46well just save yourself because that's all there is going to be
- 57:49after this. And Kimberly calls her a coward
- 57:52so and Clear takes that seriously and rips off her
- 57:56bracelet. Yeah, so we see Kim's back at
- 58:00home. Burke was waiting for her.
- 58:01He couldn't get in touch with her by phone, so he drove to her
- 58:04house. He's like, hey, look, I've
- 58:05assembled a meeting of all of the survivors.
- 58:07We're going to meet in my apartment.
- 58:08So, you know, just come with me and.
- 58:11And he mentions that he started thinking about it more and he
- 58:15was in the clean up the previous year for one of the Flight 180
- 58:18survivors. Yeah, so as he's talking to her
- 58:21there, she sees like a reflection of pigeons just
- 58:24flying around, and they're not anywhere around.
- 58:26She's like, OK, that's a sign. Pigeons, Tim.
- 58:28Pigeons. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:31Because he's next. Because yeah, it's bringing
- 58:34reverse. So I'm also going to call
- 58:36shenanigans on this, and I know you've got a lot more dentist
- 58:38shenanigans to call, but I'm just going to go ahead and call
- 58:40on this. There's no way his appointment
- 58:42was already rescheduled for the very next day after missing it
- 58:45the day before. Unless this dentist is not very
- 58:48good and doesn't have a lot of patience.
- 58:50Just you literally just talked to your mom earlier today about
- 58:53how I called and got into a dentist appointment at the same.
- 58:55Day. I also feel like that was a lot
- 58:57of bullshit. It was bullshit, but sometimes
- 58:59it just shakes out that way. Do you think Nora might be like
- 59:02a nightmare mother? She seems chill.
- 59:06Really. She she actually seems kind of
- 59:08like a chill person. She even asked for like anxiety
- 59:10medication later. You know, she may have just
- 59:12checked out. No, she seems like a good mom.
- 59:17I mean, like a nightmare to like doctors and whatnot.
- 59:19Like you're going to get my Tim in, no?
- 59:21I don't think so. I think she seems like a chill
- 59:23person. I don't get any any hostile
- 59:26vibes from her at all. OK, so at the dentist, he says
- 59:31that really off the mark remark about the dentist, you know,
- 59:34unbutting his pants potentially as he's he's not even.
- 59:38See, The thing is, he's not even going in there to be like, you
- 59:40know, put to sleep to like, get work done.
- 59:43He does start getting the gas. He does, but that wasn't the
- 59:46original intention. So like he's like, OK, if I'm in
- 59:48there and this guy's drilling my teeth while I'm just numbing the
- 59:51mouth and my pants are undone, like.
- 59:53OK, but what if instead of him reading Bag of Bones the night
- 59:57before, he's sitting watching the dentist?
- 1:00:01That would kind of fit the whole.
- 1:00:02Thing here make more sense. Because that the dentist has the
- 1:00:06themed rooms, Yeah, kind of fits what he has here.
- 1:00:08He's got some kind of fish theme in here.
- 1:00:12He's got puffer fish hanging up above him.
- 1:00:15Yeah, and apparently these pigeons just keep running into
- 1:00:18the windows and this high rise office building and he has to
- 1:00:22keep replacing the windows. I would love just like a sitcom
- 1:00:27where that's a running bit. Dude.
- 1:00:29Like he just has to keep getting his windows replaced.
- 1:00:32That is the thing that I'm legitimately terrified of of my
- 1:00:34dentist because my dentist is downtown next to like a road
- 1:00:38like that is pretty decent traffic.
- 1:00:41And I'm always concerned that while I'm getting my teeth
- 1:00:44drilled, there's going to be some that happens out there and
- 1:00:47he's going to cause him a jerk and just like, get my fucking
- 1:00:50teeth. And that sounds like a good
- 1:00:51moment to talk about this because the dentist is trying to
- 1:00:54give him a shot to numb his mouth so he can fill in this
- 1:00:58cavity. The pigeons are working his
- 1:01:01nerves and he decides it's going to be safer to do the gas.
- 1:01:03Would you like to talk about your less your latest experience
- 1:01:06getting a shot? Yeah, so apparently I've been to
- 1:01:09the dentist many times in my life.
- 1:01:10I've just had problems with my teeth ever since I was a child
- 1:01:14and I've that means I've been do I and I wasn't until recently
- 1:01:18that I will learn that when you were getting that shot, the shot
- 1:01:22is making like that little thought, that feeling that you
- 1:01:25get. They're hitting bone and the
- 1:01:27goal is to try and get as close to the nerve as possible when
- 1:01:31you're giving the shot. Without touching them.
- 1:01:33Without touching the nerve. So when we're out with the first
- 1:01:36time earlier this month, this guy, my dentist, he gave me a
- 1:01:40shot. I wasn't numb enough yet.
- 1:01:41So he said, OK, I'll give you another.
- 1:01:43One, and it's an extra complication for you because you
- 1:01:45got a little bit of that red headedness that makes you less
- 1:01:48sensitive to anaesthetics. Yeah, so he, he like I was still
- 1:01:53numb in my jaw, but my lip wasn't numb.
- 1:01:55So he's like, OK, I'm going to give you another.
- 1:01:57Even though I was numb, he fucking jammed it right through
- 1:02:01my nerve. And this shot of pain just went
- 1:02:03down my whole jaw and out. Like it was numb, like I wasn't
- 1:02:06feeling anything before. But just like, even through all
- 1:02:09that, it was the most excruciating pain I've ever had
- 1:02:12in a split second. And he's like, Oh yeah, I just
- 1:02:15stabbed your nerve. You know, it's OK.
- 1:02:17You might be numb for three hours or three days.
- 1:02:21If it happens, don't worry, you're not like dying.
- 1:02:24You just are going to be numb because I've stabbed your
- 1:02:26fucking nerve. Dude, you sound like Sylvester
- 1:02:29Stallone. For the next few hours you are
- 1:02:32slurring so. Bad sucks.
- 1:02:34So yeah, dentist shit. Like, again, this movie right
- 1:02:38here, we're at the dentist. I like the misdirect here
- 1:02:40because everybody's nervous here.
- 1:02:41That's another common, relatable experience.
- 1:02:43Yeah, yeah. Even though he doesn't die here,
- 1:02:45I think it's still works like a suspense building mode.
- 1:02:48Yeah, well, because while he's getting the gas, Nemo was trying
- 1:02:52to break out of his tank in the reception here.
- 1:02:56Yeah. Finding Nemo here, Yeah.
- 1:02:57And the dentist goes to help Nora and the receptionist Gene,
- 1:03:01like they're all capturing this pigeon that has flown into the
- 1:03:06group. Yeah.
- 1:03:07And the oxygen goes off in Tim's tank, so he's just getting
- 1:03:11nitrogen. And then when in the puffer fish
- 1:03:14falls from the mobile, which probably shouldn't be hanging
- 1:03:16directly over the fucking chair, and he's choking on this toy
- 1:03:22puffer fish and then Jean comes in and saves him.
- 1:03:25I. Like her?
- 1:03:26Look, she's just like what the fuck?
- 1:03:28Yeah, yeah. And so they finish up and they
- 1:03:30go outside, and as Nora and Tim are walking to wherever their
- 1:03:33car is parked at Burke and Kimberly running.
- 1:03:37I was saying. Pigeons.
- 1:03:38Pigeons. And Tim goes fuck yeah.
- 1:03:41Pigeons. He's like I'll fuck him off.
- 1:03:45Hey, Carlos is dead 100%. This is the same energy that if
- 1:03:49we were outside and Talia's at the other end of the yard and
- 1:03:52we're like squirrels. She would go, I'm gonna get the
- 1:03:55squirrels. Go running.
- 1:03:57Go get the squirrels. And so then Tim gets a glass
- 1:04:01windowpane dropped on. Isn't.
- 1:04:03It weird. Bad.
- 1:04:04Like they don't run to save him, they run and like dive and
- 1:04:07tackle Nora out of the way where she's not even close.
- 1:04:09And they're also creeped out by not knowing what aged him is.
- 1:04:13Like what is that thing smashing?
- 1:04:18Oh man, I didn't get any pigeons, thank God.
- 1:04:22Man, what was that? What if they were pigeons mixed
- 1:04:25in with him and then his body is cremated with pigeon dust?
- 1:04:29Well, I mean, that's what happens when you try and tackle
- 1:04:32pitches, man. Like you're gonna, you're gonna
- 1:04:35fuck around and find out some way, somehow.
- 1:04:39Oh all. Right.
- 1:04:40OK. So she is stride and immediately
- 1:04:44after her. She's not gonna come to the
- 1:04:46meeting tonight. And Kimberly's like, why not?
- 1:04:48And Brooke's, like her son, died.
- 1:04:51Except she does come to the meeting.
- 1:04:52She does end up coming later, yeah.
- 1:04:54But yeah, Brooke's like, I mean, I get it.
- 1:04:59So they they go, oh, they arrive back at Kim's house and then
- 1:05:03Clear is there. How did Clear know where she
- 1:05:06lived? The same way that Kimberly found
- 1:05:09out where Clear was. No, that makes more sense
- 1:05:12because it was a reported thing. And it shouldn't have been a
- 1:05:14reported thing. That feels like a HIPAA
- 1:05:16violation. That's true.
- 1:05:18This all this just rubbed me the wrong way.
- 1:05:20That clear is like, and I'm here like, how's it going?
- 1:05:22They could have tied this in. They could have wrote her into
- 1:05:24this so much better. But she suggests that they go
- 1:05:27talk to Bloodworth. Yeah, and so they go and they
- 1:05:29talk to him and he does his normal little like cryptic, like
- 1:05:35only new life and defeat death. And then as he's doing all of
- 1:05:39this, he's just like, slowly ripping Evan's nipple ring out.
- 1:05:44That way he can like, and he doesn't even need to do that.
- 1:05:46Cremate the body. The ring won't be left behind.
- 1:05:49Dude, he savors these moments. OK, he's like doing it.
- 1:05:52And nipple ring. No, you know who?
- 1:05:54You know who savored the moment? The director because he kept
- 1:05:57lingering on that nipple or just being Yanks.
- 1:05:59It's like, damn, that's my jam. It's like Quentin Tarantino here
- 1:06:06is like, I gotta get that nipple ring.
- 1:06:10Man. OK, Yep.
- 1:06:11OK, so we now are at. If Kimberly gets a vision of a
- 1:06:16vehicle crashing into a lake, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:19They remember that. There's the pregnant woman in
- 1:06:20the white van, and they're like, oh, maybe that baby new life
- 1:06:24should be. Burke goes to his footage, and
- 1:06:28he gets the plate number from her van and then puts down an
- 1:06:30APB on Isabella Hudson. So they go to their meeting.
- 1:06:34Kat says that her life was just getting on track.
- 1:06:37She's, like, doing good at work. She's got a steady relationship
- 1:06:41that's starting up. Like, she doesn't need this
- 1:06:43right now. I get a cat.
- 1:06:47Yeah. And then Eugene is calling
- 1:06:50bullshit on all of this. He's like, that's not how this
- 1:06:54works. Like, I'm in control of my own
- 1:06:56destiny. And then a kayak almost takes
- 1:06:58him out. Ruins Burke's window.
- 1:07:00He's not getting his deposit back because why the fuck do you
- 1:07:03have a kayaking from the window in your basement?
- 1:07:06He's a fazed by. This, yeah.
- 1:07:08Bullshit. Listen.
- 1:07:09Apparently in this part of New York, Windows just get busted
- 1:07:13all the time. Yeah, I guess it's window
- 1:07:15business is boom in there. God, that's what we should be
- 1:07:18investing in is Windows in New York.
- 1:07:20Yes, Evan. Evan should have been investing.
- 1:07:23Exactly bro. Also, Kimberly's handing out
- 1:07:28cell phones to everybody too. That way they can keep in touch
- 1:07:31because she wants to be able to call them if she gets a
- 1:07:33premonition. Yeah, well, it's kind of
- 1:07:35confusing because it seems like that's Kimberly's idea, but
- 1:07:38clear is like, let's just safe proof this apartment and we'll
- 1:07:41all just hang out here together. Clear again is like this is my
- 1:07:44chance for either a great new relationship or some friendship.
- 1:07:49She keeps saying all of her friends died and I want to keep
- 1:07:51saying like, clear. I'm glad you've managed to
- 1:07:54rewrite this in a way that feels therapeutic to you, but those
- 1:07:57people were not your friend. Yeah, baby.
- 1:07:59And my best friend Saul died. Baby.
- 1:08:02Love of my life. Yeah.
- 1:08:03Yeah. Isabella gets pulled over and
- 1:08:07she's being held in custody for the vehicle being reported as
- 1:08:10stolen. And this is where she curses her
- 1:08:12husband. ex-husband. We don't know person.
- 1:08:15Yeah, a cat decides she's going to go out for a smoke and Nora's
- 1:08:18like listen, my husband and Tim are both dead.
- 1:08:22If it's my time to die too, I'm OK with that.
- 1:08:24I'm just going to leave. And Eugene's like I control my
- 1:08:28own life. I'm also out of here too.
- 1:08:30So Eugene and Nora enter the elevator together, and they're
- 1:08:34also in there with this man who has a box full of mannequin
- 1:08:37hooks. I don't fully understand what
- 1:08:40these are exactly. Yeah, I would say that they're
- 1:08:43like prosthetic arms, but prosthetics are expensive.
- 1:08:46What really matters is that Rory goes into the closet to put
- 1:08:50something up, almost gets taken out with a bowling ball, and
- 1:08:52then he sees shadows in the floor and he's like, the shadow
- 1:08:55looks like a man with hooks. I thought it.
- 1:08:57Was kind of cool that he like these other people are getting
- 1:08:59these like premonition. It's not just.
- 1:09:01It feels appropriate that it was Rory, too.
- 1:09:04Yeah. So he they try and call her, but
- 1:09:08her and Eugene are on the elevator and.
- 1:09:12It still works. She.
- 1:09:13Still, it still works, yeah. Like it's a man with hooks.
- 1:09:17And by the way, this is when Eugene is like, notice a guy
- 1:09:20sniffing. Yeah.
- 1:09:21And it's like Eugene could have been a little bit better in this
- 1:09:24moment and, like, spoke up. Yeah, like.
- 1:09:26Hey, don't be sniffing. Stop being a creep.
- 1:09:28Yeah, and Nora gets the call about the man with the hooks.
- 1:09:32And as soon as she as soon as the elevator's at the floor, she
- 1:09:35tries to run out. Her braid gets caught in the
- 1:09:37hook. And the elevator, as we saw
- 1:09:40earlier, like the safety bumper doesn't work.
- 1:09:42And the landlord? Here doesn't.
- 1:09:44I forgot about. We had that whole scene of going
- 1:09:46up the elevator and he's like trying to get the thing off of
- 1:09:48the dudes face. I.
- 1:09:50I love that so much. So bizarre.
- 1:09:52I didn't take a single note that whole scene because I was just
- 1:09:55like, what the I? Forgot about that.
- 1:09:56Yeah, He's like, dude, just let me get it for you.
- 1:09:58Yeah, he's like trying to like a stranger.
- 1:09:59His face, Yeah. And I, I really hope that that
- 1:10:02was just all Jonathan Cherry. I do too, yeah.
- 1:10:04It's funny though. It's a good like comedic relief.
- 1:10:07Yeah, but like the scene was also important because the guy
- 1:10:09is saying like, Oh yeah, the bumpers are broken on the
- 1:10:11elevator, which. Gets stuck.
- 1:10:13Yeah, yeah. Which feels like a major safety
- 1:10:15violation that could probably get the landlord in a shit ton
- 1:10:18of trouble. Yeah.
- 1:10:20But what ends up happening is that Nora can't get all the way
- 1:10:24off the elevator before it starts going back up and Clear
- 1:10:28and Cat are both downstairs and they're trying to help her and
- 1:10:31instead they get sprayed with her blunt they're.
- 1:10:33Trying to pull her through. The way to go is to just pull
- 1:10:36open the elevator doors man. Like you, that's doable.
- 1:10:40Yeah, it. The whole thing, college storm,
- 1:10:44you know, the elevator, the doors would get stuck all the
- 1:10:47time. People would just like, fucking
- 1:10:48open up the doors themselves because we had to.
- 1:10:50Because the bumpers are broken in this.
- 1:10:52Part of what works with that is that the elevator is supposed to
- 1:10:55sense and there's something in there and it stops pushing on
- 1:10:57it. OK, But anyway, they're all
- 1:11:00freaked out by this. Eugene goes back into the
- 1:11:03apartment. He takes Burke's gun, and he
- 1:11:05shoots himself 6 times, all six of the bus, 6 times.
- 1:11:10All six of the bullets are duds. And they're like, there's no way
- 1:11:12that that's possible. So they decide that they're
- 1:11:14gonna go because they've gotten the call that Isabella is being
- 1:11:18held. So they decide that they're
- 1:11:19going to go find her. So they're all riding together
- 1:11:22in the car and they're sharing their own stories.
- 1:11:26Like, man, this is not the first time I even cheated this.
- 1:11:29So Eugene starts off, he's like, I was going to be a like AI was
- 1:11:33a teacher at this place and. I got transferred and two days
- 1:11:37later this kid came in and killed the teacher.
- 1:11:39That would have still been me if I hadn't been transferred 2 days
- 1:11:42before. And then Burke says he was
- 1:11:44handling clean up from an accident with a train.
- 1:11:48That was Billy. Billy and his partner had said
- 1:11:53he could keep handling that and he would go deal with another.
- 1:11:59Yeah, a shootout. And the partner ended up being
- 1:12:01killed in that shootout. Cat missed a gas leak death in a
- 1:12:05B&B that she was on because the bus she was taking to the B&B
- 1:12:08was the one that was the one that hit Terry.
- 1:12:11Terry Yeah. Rory was supposed to be in a
- 1:12:14collapse theater in Paris, but earlier that day a sign had
- 1:12:19fallen and killed a kid on the part on the sidewalk, and that
- 1:12:22was Carter. I like how like he still could
- 1:12:24have went, but like that, just like it was enough for the
- 1:12:27laser. Damn, like that's it for the
- 1:12:29day. Like that's what.
- 1:12:30He might be the most empathetic person in this movie.
- 1:12:32Yeah. He's like, I can't go.
- 1:12:34I can't go watch this. Can't.
- 1:12:35Enjoy the theater at this point, not like this, it's.
- 1:12:38Not like this. He's probably tripping at that
- 1:12:40moment too, so he probably started having a bad trip after.
- 1:12:42That Yeah. And Eugene realizes that the
- 1:12:45teacher he was pulled to replace was Valerie Luton.
- 1:12:48Yeah. And then Kimberly says that she
- 1:12:52was at the mall with her mom, and they were supposed to meet
- 1:12:54out at the car, and she was late meeting her because she got
- 1:12:57caught up watching this news of Todd's death because she was
- 1:13:01sitting there. Yeah.
- 1:13:02She was sitting there wondering why somebody who had just, like,
- 1:13:04escaped death would kill himself.
- 1:13:07And her mom was outside and got shot by a robbery gone wrong.
- 1:13:10Yeah. So basically they figure that
- 1:13:12death is working backwards to seal up the loose ends that were
- 1:13:16left from the Flight 180, like the ripple FX.
- 1:13:19Yeah, as they're talking about this, their tire blows out and
- 1:13:23they end up crashing into this like farm area.
- 1:13:25Nearly hitting. Isabella in the process, Who's?
- 1:13:28On her way to the hospital because of the pregnancy.
- 1:13:31Yeah, he wants to stop and help, and she's like, this baby's
- 1:13:34coming, call somebody else. Yeah.
- 1:13:36There's people here, they get the fucking vampire child there,
- 1:13:39He'll be OK. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:13:41So. Eugene is hurt.
- 1:13:43His longest collapsed, Yeah, and Cat is stuck in the front seat
- 1:13:47because of. There's the way everything.
- 1:13:49Yeah, there's like a log or. A pipe, yeah, and pipe is like
- 1:13:53in the back of version almost went right through her head
- 1:13:56there and. Then let's see you get yeah
- 1:14:01news. Crew shows up and like they're
- 1:14:03pulling in, they're driving recklessly and they almost hit
- 1:14:05the kid, the kid farmer, but Rory dives and like saves.
- 1:14:09Him Rory is like, what's wrong with you kid?
- 1:14:11Pay attention. You could have fucking died and
- 1:14:13they've just spent so much of the past 24 hours talking about
- 1:14:18near death experiences and he doesn't even think about it.
- 1:14:22Rory, you dumb. Dumb.
- 1:14:24Yeah, Chamberly about his death and she's just because this is
- 1:14:29what happens to somebody in every single one of these
- 1:14:31movies. Like is my death going to be
- 1:14:32embarrassing? Is it going to be bad?
- 1:14:34Is it going to hurt? And she's just like, I don't.
- 1:14:36He goes, hey, I'm supposed to die before you.
- 1:14:39If I do, will you please go to my apartment and clear out
- 1:14:44anything that would break my mom's heart and that kind?
- 1:14:46Of dude that was. Bad drugs and.
- 1:14:49Just get rid of it all. Yeah.
- 1:14:52Also, one of the vans backed into a rock.
- 1:14:54So there is now gas leaking from that, which is going down the
- 1:14:58pipe all the way to Cat. She's smoking a cigarette.
- 1:15:01It feels dangerous. Yeah.
- 1:15:03And they're trying to do the Jaws of life to get her out
- 1:15:05there. And they ram it really hard into
- 1:15:09the side of the car, triggering the airbag which pushes her head
- 1:15:12into the pipe, causing her to drop her cigarette, which
- 1:15:16ignites the fuel that traveled down there, causing an
- 1:15:20explosion. Rory back into barbed wire
- 1:15:23fence. No, the fence just like launches
- 1:15:26towards him. It actually sends fucking barbed
- 1:15:28wire fence flying through the air.
- 1:15:30It slices him. Yeah, he's chopped in.
- 1:15:34Pieces yeah, it's bad it's bad so they're like well that's not
- 1:15:40they have no. Reaction to that, is there a
- 1:15:42mold we got to go I guess. Yeah, and the farmer's like,
- 1:15:44well, you can take my truck because what is my life now?
- 1:15:48You guys are going to come back for a BBQ anyway.
- 1:15:49It's fine. Yeah, that's maybe that's what
- 1:15:53it is. Later like when they're they're
- 1:15:55just like returning his truck after a month.
- 1:15:56It's. Like, all right, I'll make you a
- 1:15:57deal. You can borrow my truck if you
- 1:15:59come eat with me. OK, That's.
- 1:16:02How we do they get to the hospital?
- 1:16:04Kimberly has this vision of somebody named Collarjun choking
- 1:16:09Isabella, She thinks. And first of all, Doctor
- 1:16:12Collarjun is a doctor. There's some internal misogyny
- 1:16:15going on with Kimberly, who's like, there's a nurse.
- 1:16:17Her name's Collarjun. Isabella is in the delivery
- 1:16:21room. She's trying to give her baby
- 1:16:22birth and the the midwife or whatever that's hoping says that
- 1:16:27the quarters wrapped around the baby's neck.
- 1:16:28They need to call in collargian to help.
- 1:16:31Eugene is also in a room, I'm assuming it's an ICU type of
- 1:16:36situation and his vents all close up and his door locks and
- 1:16:40he's losing oxygen and it's just not good.
- 1:16:44I think queer also like breaks up from them to go check on him
- 1:16:48while they go check on the baby being delivered.
- 1:16:50Yeah, and Burke and Kimberly are trying to stop Clarajan from
- 1:16:54going into the C-section. And she's like, I don't have
- 1:16:56time for like, why are you guys wandering around this hall?
- 1:16:58It's where it stopped. And she ends up going in, have
- 1:17:03the babies, had the safe. It survives.
- 1:17:08Everybody celebrates. Eugene's room starts being a
- 1:17:11death trap. They're all very excited.
- 1:17:13Yeah, it's like death gives them like this, like a little moment
- 1:17:15of like, hey. Death been a tricky little minx
- 1:17:19here. Oh, you guys got me.
- 1:17:21Yeah, so they are celebrating and clear as like, I'm going to
- 1:17:25go tell Eugene the good news. And because of the incredibly
- 1:17:29high oxygen content in his room, she opens the door.
- 1:17:33Boom. It's the Yeah, it pulls the cord
- 1:17:35out, which causes a spark, which causes a massive.
- 1:17:39Fucking. I think it's kind of funny
- 1:17:41seeing that shot of Queer's body just in slow motion.
- 1:17:43It's like, fuck you, Ali. Man, so.
- 1:17:52Kim now has another vision, and she realizes it was her that
- 1:17:55drove into the because she sees her hands are bloody like in.
- 1:17:59Her vision there, like in the vision she's.
- 1:18:00Like, OK, I'm the one that drives into the lake and then
- 1:18:03she sees a news clipping on the wall there saying.
- 1:18:06Drowning victim has new life. Yeah, so she's like, OK, that's
- 1:18:09my way, I got to drown. So she takes an ambulance
- 1:18:11outside and drives it into the nearby.
- 1:18:14Lake and I want us all to talk about this, Think about this,
- 1:18:19write this down in your journal, whatever notes you're taking.
- 1:18:23It was not the baby being born that saved them.
- 1:18:25Because Kimberly realized that Isabella was never going to die
- 1:18:29in that crash, yes. Yes, yes.
- 1:18:30So this baby, always part of life and death's design.
- 1:18:34It's fine. Kimberly is going to go crash
- 1:18:37this ambulance and she is going to actually be declared dead.
- 1:18:42Stop breathing, heart. Stop speeding, heart.
- 1:18:45Stops beating. That will be seen in the
- 1:18:47hospital. Yes, that will be noted in her
- 1:18:50medical file. An actual doctor says you died.
- 1:18:54And you were revived. And you were revived.
- 1:18:57Yes, that's what's going to happen here.
- 1:18:59It's very important that we remember this later because some
- 1:19:03people were very upset after bloodlines.
- 1:19:06Yeah. So keep that in mind.
- 1:19:09Keep it in mind. Keep it in mind.
- 1:19:10So that's what happens. I mean, like, Burke saved her,
- 1:19:13dived into the water and got her out of there.
- 1:19:15And yeah, like, it's a new day. Everything.
- 1:19:18Is good. We have a warm tone shift.
- 1:19:19Yeah, and sunshine color grading.
- 1:19:21Yeah, we've got a music cue. We're at a BBQ.
- 1:19:25Fuck Kimberly's dad. He's not a survivor.
- 1:19:28Dude, where is he? Yeah, he's out buying extra
- 1:19:31vehicles for the next time, Kimberly.
- 1:19:33'S yeah, yeah. And so for whatever reason, have
- 1:19:37a barbecue and the dad is like, yeah, hey, son, like a or like,
- 1:19:43did you? Didn't you tell him?
- 1:19:44His name's Brian. His name's Brian, by the way.
- 1:19:47I wrote. I wrote Vlad the entire time
- 1:19:49because that's his Twilight name.
- 1:19:52OK, well, he is. Yeah, the dad's like.
- 1:19:53Brian. The dad's like, yeah, like,
- 1:19:55didn't you guys hear about what happened to him?
- 1:19:57He almost died when you guys were out here.
- 1:19:59Some guy just like your friend just saved him a dove and got
- 1:20:02him out of the way of a car. And they go BOM BOM and then
- 1:20:06then the grill explodes and his arm lays on the table.
- 1:20:10Right on Mama's plate. And Burke and Kimberly are like,
- 1:20:13all right, we're not dealing with this mom son trauma stuff
- 1:20:17again. So wouldn't Burke be in danger
- 1:20:22still? No, Maybe.
- 1:20:26Yeah, he's he didn't die. He's not confirmed to be a
- 1:20:29survivor, that's true. Like I mean, I'm pretty sure he
- 1:20:33has to die. I guess we'll have to research
- 1:20:36that somewhere once we get to the later movies.
- 1:20:39I just like because she broke it doesn't mean she's just saved
- 1:20:42herself. Yeah, he's.
- 1:20:43Still in danger here? All right, we've talked about
- 1:20:48it. Yeah.
- 1:20:48What's your rating? Let's make it 95.
- 1:20:52Yeah, keep in mind it a 95. Yeah, I mean, I love this one.
- 1:20:57It's a really, really good sequel, so I don't really have
- 1:21:00much bad to say about it. Like it did a good job building
- 1:21:03on the first one. It did a good job, it's fun to
- 1:21:05watch. I just, I really enjoy it.
- 1:21:08Yeah, the only thing I would change is like, there's not a
- 1:21:14whole lot I would want to change about it.
- 1:21:18I went. I went to clear up fucking Tim
- 1:21:21and Nora. Yeah, clear that up, I guess.
- 1:21:23But also just like the whole dynamic between Queer and Kim,
- 1:21:27like, I don't know, like if you want Queer to be there, like
- 1:21:31make her more of a supporting character instead of making her
- 1:21:35steal the show just because she was a returning character from
- 1:21:37the first one. I.
- 1:21:37Think that's fair? Yeah, like if you're, if she's
- 1:21:41going to be the lead maker of the lead, if she's going to be a
- 1:21:43supporting character, make her be a supporting character.
- 1:21:44Don't have this like weird mishmash of what we're doing
- 1:21:46with this. OK, Talia, man, she was super
- 1:21:52fucking playful during this. She's got a newfound energy
- 1:21:55here. Loves car rides.
- 1:21:58Yes. So this is.
- 1:21:59This hits on some of her fears. Yeah.
- 1:22:02There were no dogs in these car rides that were happening during
- 1:22:05the wrecks. That's good.
- 1:22:06Yeah. So I think this might be a
- 1:22:08perfect 10 for Italia. I think so too, yeah.
- 1:22:12Who is always ultimate warrior? Tim.
- 1:22:23Why? Because Tim's doing all the shit
- 1:22:25he's not supposed to be doing. He's not supposed to be chasing
- 1:22:27pigeons. He's not supposed to be smoking.
- 1:22:30That's true. Zoe would smoke and chase
- 1:22:32pigeons if she could. Yeah, I think that.
- 1:22:34Yeah, I think it's Tim, Tiny Tim all.
- 1:22:37Right. Who did you relate to?
- 1:22:40That's a tough one, man. I don't know.
- 1:22:45I relate to Rory. I like Rory's five man.
- 1:22:48I feel like I would get along with Rory.
- 1:22:50He'd be my friend. I feel like I relate to Cat.
- 1:22:54Yeah, just a little uptight. Like my life.
- 1:22:57I don't need this in my life right now cuz I feel like that's
- 1:23:00how I would react in this moment.
- 1:23:02Like with the final destiny, I'd be like, I don't, I don't have
- 1:23:05time for this year right now. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:23:08OK. OK.
- 1:23:09All right. Now we need a new tagline.
- 1:23:13Tagline. Cuz we're not doing Dream sequel
- 1:23:16because this is a franchise. We're gonna be covering all of
- 1:23:18them. Tagline.
- 1:23:21I was trying to think of something with like, you know,
- 1:23:24the road signs that are like next exit, like food, like rest
- 1:23:30stop hotel. I was trying to think of
- 1:23:33something along those lines but I can't quite get it there in my
- 1:23:37head man. What?
- 1:23:43I can't. I'm just like picturing Waze,
- 1:23:45you know how like it'll be like a rack is reported up ahead.
- 1:23:49Is that still here? Like, yeah, like a premonition
- 1:23:52was reported ahead. Is that still here?
- 1:23:55A premonition was reported. Are you still here?
- 1:24:00That doesn't really work if you don't use like Waze though.
- 1:24:05That's Google. Google Maps, because Google
- 1:24:07bought Waze. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:09But not everybody uses that. No, not everybody does.
- 1:24:11Everybody. If you're not using Google Apps,
- 1:24:13if you're using Apple Maps, you're.
- 1:24:16You're lost anyway, like anywhere you're going.
- 1:24:18All roads lead home. I was just about to say this is
- 1:24:23you are still on the fastest route to your destination.
- 1:24:28That's good. That is good.
- 1:24:29Yay. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:30All right, Cool, cool. All right.
- 1:24:33Do we ever reuse? Well hey, I have another
- 1:24:36question to ask. What would Dom do?
- 1:24:40Domodor just driven around the crash.
- 1:24:42Yeah, I mean, he wouldn't have crashed.
- 1:24:43Yeah, like he like, come on, this is one of the easier ones.
- 1:24:46Yeah, I get involved as a vehicle.
- 1:24:48He would have just not crashed. And he?
- 1:24:50And if he does crash, he like will like fly through the
- 1:24:53windshield and land on the hood of a car unscathed.
- 1:24:55Yeah, and if he sees the crash happening, he'll be like, well,
- 1:24:58that's just collateral damage. That's what happens when you're
- 1:25:01fast and furious. I mean there's literally a movie
- 1:25:03where him and Jason Statham go full force into each other like
- 1:25:06head on and they just are totally cool.
- 1:25:09Like they are not hurt. So it's like.
- 1:25:11They're bald. They're.
- 1:25:12Aerodynamic. Well, yeah.
- 1:25:14See, none of the people in this movie were bald.
- 1:25:16That was their problem. Yeah.
- 1:25:17They they they were doomed. Jonathan Cherry Way too much
- 1:25:20hair. Too much hair.
- 1:25:21Too much hair, he didn't stand a chance.
- 1:25:22That's why I was cut into so many pieces.
- 1:25:24Just like he's so weak with all the hair.
- 1:25:27This. Is the opposite of Samson.
- 1:25:30Yeah. All right.
- 1:25:32So easy, easy, easy. OK, No, yes, we do have readers.
- 1:25:36Yes. Yes.
- 1:25:36OK, so I of course knew that we liked this movie, so I've got to
- 1:25:40say negative review. We'll end up here.
- 1:25:42OK, so this is on IMDb. It's a 3 out of 10.
- 1:25:47Watch it out of curiosity only. So just worth noting this is a
- 1:25:50newer review. It's in April 2020.
- 1:25:53So price on my board during COVID here.
- 1:25:56OK, so now we're all OK. So now we're already familiar
- 1:26:00with the story and know what to expect.
- 1:26:02Unfortunately, this film offers nothing new to the plot.
- 1:26:05Instead, it plays like a remake of Final Destination.
- 1:26:07So much so that there really was no need for this film and it
- 1:26:11therefore serves to please those who haven't seen the first film.
- 1:26:14The film actually follows on Final Destinations.
- 1:26:17Ali Warder reprises her role of Clear Rivers.
- 1:26:21Seriously, that's the character's name Hardly 20
- 1:26:23minutes into the film though there are so many plot flaws.
- 1:26:26I must admit the highway crash sequence is incredible, but why
- 1:26:30did the random drivers at the scene also go to the police
- 1:26:33station? Why were they involved?
- 1:26:35And why are only a handful involved then and not everyone?
- 1:26:38Kimberly blocked. They should have made it clear
- 1:26:42that these people would have died in the crash had she not
- 1:26:44blocked them off. Would have made a lot more sense
- 1:26:46if her friends were involved. It's therefore not clear.
- 1:26:49What do you mean? That those people that were
- 1:26:53saved would have died like that was what the whole rec sequence
- 1:26:56showed. What they're saying like not
- 1:26:58everybody that was stopped was pulled in, so why was it that
- 1:27:00group? That got.
- 1:27:01Pulled in instead of everybody being pulled in, which I think
- 1:27:06is a good point actually. It's therefore not as good or
- 1:27:10effective as set up as the first film.
- 1:27:11Whereas the first film was rather serious, here they added
- 1:27:14humor. There honestly is some humor and
- 1:27:16dialogue that doesn't belong. It completely ruined the film's
- 1:27:19potential suspense. Quite a number of scenes were
- 1:27:21unnecessarily comical. The first victim dies much too
- 1:27:24soon after the incident, before we even got to know him.
- 1:27:27The killings are more brutal and more far fetched than the first
- 1:27:30film, although it can be essentially still happen in real
- 1:27:33life. The acting was unfortunately
- 1:27:35nothing to write home about. The makeup effects were very
- 1:27:38good though. As for the film in general,
- 1:27:40forgettable. Would I watch it again?
- 1:27:41No. Dang, yeah, I mean.
- 1:27:46Look, I think that they do make some good points about like why
- 1:27:49we have like it's a weaker reason to get all the people,
- 1:27:52the survivors there together. Because like I like, if that
- 1:27:55happened, like realistically, would I be called to like the
- 1:27:59police like, or the police headquarters or whatever to be
- 1:28:02questioned because I got stopped on a exit or an entry ramp and a
- 1:28:06crash happened, you know? Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:28:10I've never been in that situation.
- 1:28:11So I can't say if that's. I mean, I guess like they were
- 1:28:13witnesses, but the cop witnesses like that right there too.
- 1:28:16So like you don't need like all the other witnesses.
- 1:28:17Like that guy can first hand tell you everything that
- 1:28:19happened. So I don't know, it is like when
- 1:28:22you think about it doesn't make much sense.
- 1:28:24But if you're willing to let that go, I think that's fine.
- 1:28:27You know, like whatever. OK, we got some listener
- 1:28:31reviews. OK, on Instagram we have Amber,
- 1:28:34who says it's been so long that I don't remember the movie, just
- 1:28:37the walk truck scene. Just heck no.
- 1:28:39And then she also added, I think it's worth mentioning that I
- 1:28:44think the walk truck trauma in this movie is what set me up to
- 1:28:47be deeply affected by the car wreck and the descent with the
- 1:28:50pipes. I don't think that scene would
- 1:28:52have been as impactful without this already lifelong fear By
- 1:28:55that time or by the time I saw the descent.
- 1:28:58Terrible. Yeah.
- 1:28:58But by the time I watched it, devastating.
- 1:29:01I already thought about that. But this is very similar.
- 1:29:03Yeah, man. OK.
- 1:29:06Yeah. So the log trucks, I mean,
- 1:29:09that's just what everybody's afraid of.
- 1:29:10I I too, am afraid of it when we see them.
- 1:29:13I'm afraid of like any like pipe like so like a material like
- 1:29:17that on a. Truck if I'm.
- 1:29:18On the Interstate and word zombie on blue sky says what can
- 1:29:22be said about this entry to the series.
- 1:29:24A single scene that has scared people for years.
- 1:29:27A very interesting look on how to survive long term and how to
- 1:29:30skip your turn. Truly a cornerstone of the
- 1:29:32series. I agree.
- 1:29:34Yeah, I I do too. I think this is probably the
- 1:29:36stand out for most people here like it.
- 1:29:39I mean, again, I think it's just because it's more relatable to
- 1:29:41people like I think it. Touches, and I think it sets up
- 1:29:44important rules too, about like the ripple effects of things.
- 1:29:47Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 1:29:50OK. That's it for the reviews.
- 1:29:52OK. All right.
- 1:29:53So that's it for this. One it for this next week, it's
- 1:29:55Christmas and we're gonna be talking about a horror Christmas
- 1:29:58classic, Gremlins. If you've not seen Gremlins or
- 1:30:02if you've not seen it in a while, right now you can watch
- 1:30:04it on Hulu, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Philo, YouTube, Sling TV,
- 1:30:08Prime, YouTube TV, or you can rent it from Google TV, Apple
- 1:30:12TV, Fandango at home. You know those places where you
- 1:30:14rent things and things? You do know we say it every
- 1:30:17single. It's the same place as every
- 1:30:19every single time. Not the.
- 1:30:20Same place as every single time. But it is and it isn't.
- 1:30:23It isn't. It isn't.
- 1:30:24I'm the one who puts it like the where to watch out on our social
- 1:30:27media. I can guarantee it's not the
- 1:30:29exact same places that you can rent every single time.
- 1:30:31OK, a lot of times it's similar, but it's not always similar.
- 1:30:36Yeah, yeah. OK, OK.
- 1:30:40In the meantime, we would also like to thank our bubbies over
- 1:30:42on the Patreon who help us keep things going.
- 1:30:45Yeah, we've got Joe Freakatron, as is his name, Amber, Michael,
