- 1:32Speaker 1: Audio Network. Postgame, once again, we're live across the street
- 1:36Speaker 1: back at Tom's watch Bar. I'll be joined by Anders Hirst,
- 1:39Speaker 1: who we'll be on the scene in the dressing room
- 1:42Speaker 1: following the game, plus also jumping on board with us
- 1:44Speaker 1: for talking Kraken heading up to an hour after the
- 1:48Speaker 1: final horn once again for your reaction. As always, you
- 1:51Speaker 1: can text us at four nine four five one. Coming up,
- 1:55Speaker 1: we'll hear from Cracking head coach Lane Lambert with a
- 1:57Speaker 1: Cracking getting back to practice after a three to one
- 1:59Speaker 1: lost to Buffalo Sunday. We'll learn more about a couple
- 2:03Speaker 1: of key players missing from practice as well, plus also
- 2:06Speaker 1: get the insights from Crack and defenseman Brandon Montor. Revolving
- 2:10Speaker 1: around five on five, play the man advantage and defending
- 2:14Speaker 1: Nathan McKinnon what it takes against the other superstars of
- 2:19Speaker 1: the NHL. As we go into the dressing room after
- 2:22Speaker 1: practice with Krack and defenseman Brandon montour final game before
- 2:26Speaker 1: the holiday break as far as the home part of
- 2:28Speaker 1: the schedule, with the Kraken looking for a swift turnaround
- 2:32Speaker 1: after dropping a three to one loss to the Buffalo
- 2:34Speaker 1: Savers and trying to get out of the slide which
- 2:37Speaker 1: has just one win in the previous nine games. Chandler
- 2:40Speaker 1: Stevenson scored a second period power play goal, but also
- 2:43Speaker 1: part of the attention on rookie Jacob Alansa called up
- 2:47Speaker 1: from AHL Coachella Valley, and he certainly brought a fierce
- 2:51Speaker 1: and abrasive presence with seven hits on the entire evening,
- 2:55Speaker 1: including four a loan in his first two shifts back
- 2:59Speaker 1: in period one. You could look at players out of
- 3:02Speaker 1: the lineup like Jared mccannon and Jayden Schwartz. You could
- 3:05Speaker 1: look at the natural causes here of the current condition
- 3:08Speaker 1: with illness flowing through the entire team, But no matter
- 3:11Speaker 1: how you slice it, the Kraken are still struggling to
- 3:14Speaker 1: score goals. And trying to find the smoother path, which
- 3:17Speaker 1: right now has them at two point four goals per
- 3:20Speaker 1: game on the offensive side. The Kraken, though, getting right
- 3:24Speaker 1: back to work on Monday at Kraken Community ice Plex,
- 3:27Speaker 1: forward Mason Marchman making a return back to the ice,
- 3:30Speaker 1: while defenseman Ben's Done and forward Coppocaco were noticeably absent
- 3:35Speaker 1: from the pack. After practice at Coach Lane, Lambert spoke
- 3:39Speaker 1: more beginning on how the late morning session could potentially
- 3:43Speaker 1: push the Kraken in the right direction.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I thought we I thought we had good energy today.
- 3:47Speaker 3: You know, we need to get into a slump. I
- 3:50Speaker 3: guess you could call it or whatever you want to
- 3:51Speaker 3: call it. You know, the concern is guys, you know
- 3:55Speaker 3: they're not getting rewarded for certain things that they've been doing,
- 3:58Speaker 3: and you know at times you can get discouraged. I
- 4:01Speaker 3: thought our guys, I thought we were fine today. You know,
- 4:05Speaker 3: the atmosphere was pretty good. Atmosphere is positive, you know,
- 4:09Speaker 3: and I thought practice was good.
- 4:11Speaker 1: How much are you finding in the mess assassins change,
- 4:14Speaker 1: if at all, when you see guys are struggling mentally
- 4:16Speaker 1: or you're trying to find when it can keep things,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I can even keeping.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, you you know, that's that's the challenges. You know,
- 4:24Speaker 3: you can never get too high and a high or
- 4:26Speaker 3: too low and low and it's even keel and you
- 4:30Speaker 3: know that's the challenge of having them understand that. But certainly,
- 4:34Speaker 3: you know we have to know that. And the only
- 4:38Speaker 3: way we're going to you know, get back to our
- 4:40Speaker 3: winning ways is to you know, stay positive and be
- 4:43Speaker 3: in a good mind frame.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Coppo and Events are.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Both missing to anything to read into there any concern
- 4:49Speaker 5: for their status.
- 4:50Speaker 3: For tomorrow illness, and I would expect them to be
- 4:54Speaker 3: fine tomorrow, but you know, with what's going on, we
- 4:59Speaker 3: never know who who next?
- 5:02Speaker 5: Should we all leave. One thing I'd wanted to ask
- 5:07Speaker 5: you about coach is Chandler Stevenson. With the publicly available
- 5:12Speaker 5: analytic models on him, it never shows very kindly. What
- 5:16Speaker 5: doesn't show up in those models That kind of makes
- 5:19Speaker 5: you rely on him.
- 5:19Speaker 3: As much to do face offs plays against the other
- 5:22Speaker 3: team's best players every night. You know, always gets the
- 5:27Speaker 3: toughest matchups. So you know, it's easy to sit back
- 5:33Speaker 3: and look at the analytics and you know you would
- 5:36Speaker 3: like them to be a little better. Sure, you know,
- 5:40Speaker 3: if we played him down on the third line, he'd
- 5:42Speaker 3: have great analytics probably, So you got to keep it
- 5:45Speaker 3: in perspective here. This guy plays a ton of minutes
- 5:48Speaker 3: for us. He does a ton of things for us,
- 5:51Speaker 3: and they're hard minutes.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Is there anything I guess about the way that he
- 5:57Speaker 5: plays that you especially like for him?
- 6:01Speaker 3: While he's smart, he's extremely intelligent, and when you're playing
- 6:04Speaker 3: against other team's top players, you have to have a
- 6:07Speaker 3: level of intelligence it is, you know, on par or
- 6:11Speaker 3: better than them in order to stop them. So that's
- 6:15Speaker 3: one of his biggest attributes, you know. And I thought
- 6:18Speaker 3: he played very well last night. I thought it was
- 6:19Speaker 3: one of his best games. I thought he was skating.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I think, you know, for me, that's the one thing
- 6:26Speaker 3: with Chandler is you know, we need to get him
- 6:29Speaker 3: skating like that every night.
- 6:31Speaker 5: Is a Matt Murray at the point now where he's.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Kind of back in the rotation.
- 6:36Speaker 3: No, he's not quite there yet, but he certainly is practicing.
- 6:39Speaker 6: And when he when he gets to that point, do
- 6:40Speaker 6: you anticipate that rotation their frequency kind of changing it
- 6:44Speaker 6: all from from when we're healthy.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I'll worry about that when it happens. Thank you.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Laney mentioned Shane last night, you know, a nice time
- 6:52Speaker 1: and yeah, period in might and you kind of like
- 6:54Speaker 1: where it's saying he's going. I want to have to
- 6:56Speaker 1: get him at a little bit more so what's working
- 6:58Speaker 1: for him recently.
- 6:59Speaker 3: From and you want to see more out of his
- 7:02Speaker 3: compete level. Yeah, it's higher right now than it was earlier,
- 7:08Speaker 3: you know, which stems from confidence, which is what we've
- 7:12Speaker 3: talked about with him all the time. He's a good
- 7:15Speaker 3: hockey player who can own pucks, hold on to pucks,
- 7:18Speaker 3: and you know, win battles to get pucks back. And
- 7:21Speaker 3: I think he's doing a better job of that. He
- 7:23Speaker 3: certainly did last night.
- 7:26Speaker 5: While his minutes were kind of going up towards the
- 7:28Speaker 5: Andani Newman didn't play too much at the end. Is
- 7:30Speaker 5: that at all related to him turning a puck over?
- 7:34Speaker 5: Or is that just you trying to.
- 7:37Speaker 3: No, No, it's it's director. They excuse me, sorry about that. Hello,
- 7:44Speaker 3: it's directly related to that. You know, there's certain areas
- 7:48Speaker 3: of the game that you know, our young players, as
- 7:51Speaker 3: we continue to develop them, have to understand that are
- 7:54Speaker 3: extremely important. And you know, if if we're developed players here,
- 8:00Speaker 3: which we are, there will be certain growing pains in
- 8:04Speaker 3: that area, And you know, I thought wall play and
- 8:09Speaker 3: some turnovers last night weren't his friend. That doesn't mean that,
- 8:13Speaker 3: you know, he's not playing tomorrow. It doesn't mean that
- 8:16Speaker 3: he'll be sitting on the bench tomorrow. It just means
- 8:19Speaker 3: that last night it wasn't going well enough for him
- 8:22Speaker 3: at that particular moment.
- 8:24Speaker 6: Well, it feels as if the breakaways against have gone
- 8:28Speaker 6: up noticeably or he's visibly the last week or two.
- 8:32Speaker 6: I mean, can you attribute that maybe a quest for
- 8:35Speaker 6: more offense you're seeing guys not covering with the consper
- 8:39Speaker 6: and bench again work.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Well, that's a good question. I think at times, potentially,
- 8:49Speaker 3: you know, I think we've we've been sort of pressing
- 8:53Speaker 3: a little bit to create more offense. You know, I
- 8:56Speaker 3: don't know if you're speaking in particular about their first
- 8:59Speaker 3: goal last night being a two on one, or if
- 9:02Speaker 3: you're talking about the breakaway we gave up off a faceoff.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Certainly we have to be more diligent and more responsible
- 9:10Speaker 3: in those areas, because those are just those are just breakdowns,
- 9:13Speaker 3: and those have nothing to do with trying to create
- 9:15Speaker 3: more offense.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Leadership certainly comes in many forms and for cracking events
- 9:19Speaker 1: been Brandon Montor is not just in production, but also
- 9:22Speaker 1: in a vocal presence throughout the entire dressing room. He
- 9:25Speaker 1: currently also is logging a ton of minutes right now. That,
- 9:28Speaker 1: of course, to no one's surprise, his average time on
- 9:31Speaker 1: ice so twenty two minutes and nineteen seconds per game,
- 9:34Speaker 1: second on the entire team, trailing Vince Done at twenty
- 9:38Speaker 1: two minutes and forty seven seconds. Montor also carrying sixteen
- 9:43Speaker 1: points in twenty six games right now, along with six goals.
- 9:46Speaker 1: That's right now on pace to match his career high
- 9:49Speaker 1: of eighteen goals set last season, and had potentially forty
- 9:52Speaker 1: eight points, which would top last year's mark of forty
- 9:56Speaker 1: one he set in his first season in Seattle. We
- 9:59Speaker 1: cut up with Random on tour back of the Crack
- 10:01Speaker 1: and dressing room after practice Monday, following a game where
- 10:05Speaker 1: energy was certainly a big topic on Sunday.
- 10:08Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think you again, it's it's you know,
- 10:11Speaker 7: going the wrong way right now, it's you know, things
- 10:13Speaker 7: that we don't like.
- 10:14Speaker 4: We're obviously losing games. I just think in the nature.
- 10:18Speaker 7: Of just for forgetting about the past and working kind
- 10:21Speaker 7: of towards you know, what we've done well and try
- 10:24Speaker 7: to get that as quch as you can.
- 10:25Speaker 1: When you when you're a team trying to figure out
- 10:28Speaker 1: the smooth pat back offensively, how do you figure the
- 10:31Speaker 1: small stuff when it comes to you know, screens, rebounds,
- 10:33Speaker 1: other things that are making the biggest key and the
- 10:35Speaker 1: biggest difference as far as offense.
- 10:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think we're a team that's not
- 10:39Speaker 7: gonna you know, score those you know, individual like nice
- 10:42Speaker 7: nice goals.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I think we.
- 10:44Speaker 7: Obviously struggled to score goals, so we got to get
- 10:46Speaker 7: in those dirty areas. We're not doing that nearly enough.
- 10:49Speaker 7: And I think obviously this this season we haven't scored enough,
- 10:52Speaker 7: which you know, you need that to score, you know,
- 10:54Speaker 7: you need to to win the games, and we struggle
- 10:57Speaker 7: in that category. But I think that you know, we
- 10:59Speaker 7: got pot players in this you know locker room that
- 11:01Speaker 7: can score goals, can shoot the puck, and we just
- 11:03Speaker 7: got to find way used to you know, be more desperate,
- 11:06Speaker 7: you know, neft front, like you said, getting screens, getting
- 11:10Speaker 7: dirty goals. I think, you know, we might have a
- 11:12Speaker 7: lot of you know, i's talking to some of the coaches,
- 11:14Speaker 7: B and C chances, but we don't have a lot
- 11:16Speaker 7: of a chances and when you obviously need to get.
- 11:19Speaker 1: More of those, the power play, getting a goal the
- 11:21Speaker 1: other night. It seems like matters are gradually turning a
- 11:23Speaker 1: corner here for the units. What's working more when it
- 11:26Speaker 1: comes to shop volume.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Just being aggressive?
- 11:29Speaker 7: I think you know again, you know what, it doesn't
- 11:34Speaker 7: go the right way or slow, not necessarily processing it
- 11:38Speaker 7: and trying to make the right play, the cute plays
- 11:41Speaker 7: sometimes you know, shoo, shooting more. Mentality is better and.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's that's what I should say about.
- 11:48Speaker 1: That practice on Monday. How'd you feel about it? And
- 11:51Speaker 1: what's getting this team geared from the right direction again?
- 11:54Speaker 7: Try to again forget about you know, obviously you got
- 11:56Speaker 7: to work towards what we've been you know, lacking, But
- 12:00Speaker 7: you gotta keep the mentality of just kind of another game.
- 12:03Speaker 7: We got another tough opponent. It's not supposed to be easy.
- 12:05Speaker 7: So you guys should be excited about tonight.
- 12:08Speaker 1: What's the biggest key with hand when the schedule right now,
- 12:10Speaker 1: being that you're playing so many games and just so
- 12:12Speaker 1: little time before the holiday break.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Yeah, recover.
- 12:15Speaker 7: You know, obviously, when you have bumps and bruises, you
- 12:17Speaker 7: gotta you know, maintain them. But again, just stay mentally physically,
- 12:22Speaker 7: you know, within the game, and you know, be ready
- 12:24Speaker 7: to go, just because there's so many games, like you said,
- 12:27Speaker 7: and you gotta be ready.
- 12:29Speaker 1: The team coming up on the other side of the
- 12:31Speaker 1: ice is quite the challenge in Colorado. It seems like
- 12:33Speaker 1: as a lot going for him. But you know it's
- 12:35Speaker 1: not the first time that you know, you and these
- 12:37Speaker 1: other guys have faced a team rolling like they are.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So what's the difference in how you defend first off,
- 12:43Speaker 1: a guy like Nathan McKinnon versus other superstars in this league.
- 12:46Speaker 7: Yeah, you gotta maintain a speed. Obviously, he's gonna create chances.
- 12:49Speaker 7: He's gonna get his chances, but you gotta limit them
- 12:51Speaker 7: as best you can. Get in his face, play him hard,
- 12:53Speaker 7: get your stick in his lane. Uh, you know, but
- 12:56Speaker 7: like like a guy that got you gotta maintain stay
- 12:58Speaker 7: out of the box. Obviously they're really huge there. But
- 13:01Speaker 7: they're a heck of a team out there, and you know,
- 13:02Speaker 7: I think for our team, our jobs play smart, be
- 13:06Speaker 7: in their face, play with speed, and make a challenging
- 13:09Speaker 7: for their top guys.
- 13:10Speaker 4: And if we do that, I think it should be
- 13:12Speaker 4: a really good game.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Finally, at this point of the season.
- 13:14Speaker 1: What have you appreciated about the value of leadership in
- 13:16Speaker 1: this room and especially others underhead coach Lane Lambert ere
- 13:19Speaker 1: in this first year.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Yeah, lanez mcgod he's a communicator.
- 13:22Speaker 7: He's not obviously happy where we're with that and he's
- 13:25Speaker 7: not going to accept that. So I think that's you know,
- 13:27Speaker 7: good for us to have, you know, a guy that
- 13:30Speaker 7: you know, we can lead, lean on, lead us, you know,
- 13:33Speaker 7: to getting us in.
- 13:34Speaker 4: The right direction.
- 13:35Speaker 7: And again he's positive, but you know, when we need
- 13:39Speaker 7: to you know, kicking the uh, kicking the button, he's
- 13:42Speaker 7: he's there to kind of be ready for us, and.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Obviously it's nice to have him on our side.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Appreciate this.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Brandon, Thank you, Yeah, thank you.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Always appreciate the insights from Brandon on tour back at
- 13:52Speaker 1: the Crack and dressing room again so far with sixteen points,
- 13:55Speaker 1: saying six goals in twenty six games, but also importantly
- 13:59Speaker 1: and embodied the cracking pledge for more shot volume. Right
- 14:02Speaker 1: now leads the Kraken with one hundred and fifty nine
- 14:05Speaker 1: shot attempts here for the season. He is also a
- 14:08Speaker 1: third right now in shantan goal with sixty seven, So
- 14:12Speaker 1: we'll see where the Kracking go with their lineup here
- 14:15Speaker 1: for today is they are still managing illness going throughout
- 14:18Speaker 1: the dressing room, but they're taking on a Colorado Avalanche
- 14:21Speaker 1: team that can be challenging no matter what time of
- 14:24Speaker 1: the year, no matter what condition, and this year up
- 14:27Speaker 1: to a tour and start leading the NHL with fifty
- 14:30Speaker 1: three points at a twenty three to two and seven clip,
- 14:34Speaker 1: they are ten two and five away from ball Arena.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Chandler Stevenson could certainly play a big role in this one,
- 14:42Speaker 1: potentially a matchup against Nathan McKinnon a lot to do
- 14:44Speaker 1: with that, but he's writing a five game points scoring
- 14:47Speaker 1: streak also right now up to seventeen points that right
- 14:51Speaker 1: now tied for third on the Kraken. He could be
- 14:54Speaker 1: pretty busy as far as his matchup with Nathan McKinnon,
- 14:58Speaker 1: who comes in with a five game points scoring streak
- 15:01Speaker 1: nine points in total and to no surprise very much
- 15:04Speaker 1: in the early conversation for the Heart Trophy with fifty
- 15:08Speaker 1: five points in thirty two games, also leading the NHL
- 15:12Speaker 1: with twenty six goals. The Krack and aiming for their
- 15:15Speaker 1: first win over Colorado since November ninth of twenty twenty
- 15:19Speaker 1: three and trying to eradicate a four game losing skid
- 15:22Speaker 1: head to head. We have all the action coming your way,
- 15:25Speaker 1: starting with six thirty airtime for your pregame show served
- 15:28Speaker 1: up by Frostbrewed cors Light Choose Chill, Face Off, Little
- 15:33Speaker 1: Past at seven pm mark. But we got you covered

- 15:50Speaker 1: kracking this morning. I'm Mike Benton. Happy holidays and have
