- 0:00Speaker 1: Elliot Smith. He's everywhere, He's everywhere all over the sport.
- 0:02Speaker 1: He's our news talk ZBI sport expert and man, there's
- 0:05Speaker 1: been some sport this weekend.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Isn't it. Just yeah, this is the collision, all the
- 0:08Speaker 2: seasons sort of coming together, isn't it? And I suppose
- 0:11Speaker 2: you you still look at the Australian Open final. It
- 0:14Speaker 2: was a great time of the year. Two big finals
- 0:16Speaker 2: of course over the weekend. The women's on Saturday night,
- 0:19Speaker 2: won by Madison Keys, who's been a regular visitor actually
- 0:22Speaker 2: to Auckland through a number of seasons, beating the world
- 0:25Speaker 2: number one Sabalinka and a really really entertaining final two
- 0:29Speaker 2: sets to one. Last night's men's final bit more one
- 0:32Speaker 2: way traffic, to be honest. Jarick Center, the world number one,
- 0:35Speaker 2: beating Alexander Verev and in straight sets last night. Didn't
- 0:39Speaker 2: have it all his own way, but pretty straightforward her.
- 0:42Speaker 2: For Jarnicksoner, who is the world number one best player
- 0:44Speaker 2: in the hard courts at the moment, there is the
- 0:47Speaker 2: doping case sort of hanging over him, which is interesting
- 0:50Speaker 2: in a fascinating backdrop to his success in recent times.
- 0:55Speaker 2: The cream and the massuse and everything like that. The
- 0:58Speaker 2: Court of Arbitration for sport here having an appeal in
- 1:02Speaker 2: a couple of months time. But regardless, he is showing
- 1:06Speaker 2: what he's capable of. And Zverev had another cracket's winning
- 1:08Speaker 2: a major, probably the best player on tour at the
- 1:12Speaker 2: moment to have not won a Grand Slam tournament. But
- 1:14Speaker 2: a Nixon last night remain just too good.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I just had I'm sorry, but that's a great title
- 1:19Speaker 1: for a book. The Cream and the missis the story
- 1:22Speaker 1: of Oh my lord, that's brilliant and some good news
- 1:25Speaker 1: for Auckland FC.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It was great new It's been a busy week for them,
- 1:28Speaker 2: three matches in seven days and they've emerged from that
- 1:31Speaker 2: really hectic period at the top of the A League ladder.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So this is always going to be a bit of
- 1:36Speaker 2: an acid test for them, this new club. They've fallen
- 1:40Speaker 2: away a little bit now they've come back up again
- 1:42Speaker 2: in a hectic period over the last week. Two wins
- 1:45Speaker 2: including last night ninety fifth minutes, a fifth minute I've
- 1:48Speaker 2: at a time against Western Sydney Nadam moreno one of
- 1:51Speaker 2: the import players getting the goal one nil, they win,
- 1:54Speaker 2: take the three points back, so draw and two wins
- 1:57Speaker 2: over the last week moves them back to the top
- 1:59Speaker 2: of the A League and they just seem to manage
- 2:01Speaker 2: to find a way, which is the really exciting thing
- 2:03Speaker 2: about this team. They don't know when they're beat and
- 2:05Speaker 2: don't know when they're on the cusp of losing a game.
- 2:08Speaker 2: They risk it a point earlier in the week. So
- 2:11Speaker 2: back to the top of the LADD which is great
- 2:12Speaker 2: news for them.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Remen yeah, it is going from the beautiful game to
- 2:15Speaker 1: the very tall, fast game. The Breakers, what's.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah it It's been a battling old season for the
- 2:20Speaker 2: Breakers and you can put the calculator away, remand the
- 2:24Speaker 2: mathematical hopes of their making the playoff are all but
- 2:27Speaker 2: over over. They lost last night ninety four seventy eight
- 2:30Speaker 2: to Adelaide. It's been a really poor season. They started
- 2:33Speaker 2: really strongly, had some personnel changes to their team board
- 2:36Speaker 2: and Tago Fall, who's a two point two seven meter import,
- 2:41Speaker 2: just hasn't quite clicked. And with that defeat last night,
- 2:44Speaker 2: out of the playoffs and they won't be playing any
- 2:47Speaker 2: for the basketball. We've got two more games at home,
- 2:48Speaker 2: but won't be making the playoffs.
- 2:50Speaker 1: They've got some huge fans though, like literally big fans
- 2:52Speaker 1: a big following and they make that.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And even with the fact that they're out of the playoffs,
- 2:57Speaker 2: we'll still get I think decent crowds for these last
- 2:59Speaker 2: two games back at home. I think one's Friday. One
- 3:01Speaker 2: might be wie Ungy Day potentially, but two games home.
- 3:04Speaker 2: They'll get a really good credit s backer in for
- 3:06Speaker 2: both of those games, regardless of them being out of
- 3:08Speaker 2: the pluffs. But we chance to look ahead and see
- 3:11Speaker 2: how they rebuild for their next campaign and what players
- 3:14Speaker 2: they bring, what players thrown on the scrap heap as
- 3:17Speaker 2: always happens at the end of the breaker season.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, cheers, Elliott, Thank you so much, Elliott Smith from
