Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Mark Simone on sevent tenor.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Well, it's gonna be a beautiful day to day. Well,
- 0:11Speaker 2: if you like a real hot summer day, it's going
- 0:13Speaker 2: to be a beautiful day. It's going to be all
- 0:15Speaker 2: lets you get near ninety to day, really hot, and
- 0:18Speaker 2: then the rest of the week and the weekend lots
- 0:20Speaker 2: of Sunshine's gonna be really nice. Make up for last weekend.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Little little rain maybe in a couple of areas tonight,
- 0:27Speaker 2: maybe late Friday night, but that's about it. So you know,
- 0:32Speaker 2: this Ice detention center in New Jersey, Democrats now trying
- 0:37Speaker 2: to make it, weaponize it, make it a big political issue.
- 0:40Speaker 2: You know, the problem was Christy Nome just publicized the
- 0:45Speaker 2: hell out of Ice. It's an unpleasant thing having to
- 0:48Speaker 2: arrest these illegals and deport them and get them out
- 0:50Speaker 2: of there and detain them. And it's necessary, it's the
- 0:53Speaker 2: right thing to do. You can't have all these illegals
- 0:55Speaker 2: running around. Many of them become criminals and all of that.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Many of them don't, but you know the ones that do,
- 1:02Speaker 2: you start there and you got to get him out
- 1:04Speaker 2: of the country. But it's an unpleasant thing to do.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You don't want to have to do it. I mean,
- 1:10Speaker 2: so you do it quietly, you know, as Tom Holman.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Tom Holman's been doing this for years. He was doing
- 1:15Speaker 2: it under Obama for eight years. You never heard of him,
- 1:18Speaker 2: you never saw him, because he knows do it quietly.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Christy Nome is, you know, making headlines with it, publicizing it,
- 1:27Speaker 2: showing it, instagramming it, showing up with a helmet and
- 1:33Speaker 2: combat geara you keep it quiet, just do it quietly.
- 1:37Speaker 2: So they got rid of That's one reason they got
- 1:39Speaker 2: to rid of Christi Nome, just to tone this whole
- 1:41Speaker 2: thing down. So it's going on very quietly. You never
- 1:44Speaker 2: would have known that there's a detention center in New Jersey,
- 1:47Speaker 2: but that crazy left wing governor Mikey Cheryl and some
- 1:51Speaker 2: others what's his name Menendez his kid want to make
- 1:55Speaker 2: an issue out of it. So they're barricading, screaming and yelling.
- 2:00Speaker 2: They want to see the facility. Why won't you let
- 2:03Speaker 2: us in? Why won't you let us see it? Now
- 2:05Speaker 2: they're all lying. Meninda's actually had a tour of it
- 2:07Speaker 2: days before. Doesn't admit to that. Mikey Cheryl, the governor,
- 2:11Speaker 2: could see it anytime she wants. You call up Ice.
- 2:13Speaker 2: You make arrangements for them to bring you in and
- 2:16Speaker 2: show you around. You don't just show up with a
- 2:18Speaker 2: mob screaming at the front gate. That's not how you
- 2:21Speaker 2: do it. So there's protesters. They've ginned this up so
- 2:24Speaker 2: that there's protesters outside the Ice Detention Center. Fox News
- 2:28Speaker 2: sends a reporter to cover the protest outside the Ice Center.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And you know, these crazy left wingers, if they see
- 2:35Speaker 2: a Fox logo on the microphone, they go nuts and
- 2:39Speaker 2: they this group started cursing. This is live on television.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Fox News Reporter Live, and they're cursing, saying every disgusting
- 2:47Speaker 2: four letter word. Listen to the reporter.
- 2:49Speaker 3: And so the other situation because there's people like this.
- 2:52Speaker 3: You are a protester who has been out here and
- 2:54Speaker 3: you have a dirty mouth. But okay, so that's just
- 2:58Speaker 3: what we deal with. So just for people that want,
- 3:00Speaker 3: I know what it's like to cover these protests, it's
- 3:01Speaker 3: constant with this. This is what these people do. They
- 3:03Speaker 3: want people who are in this country illegally to be
- 3:07Speaker 3: red out onto the streets. It just says that's what
- 3:10Speaker 3: they're gonna not.
- 3:15Speaker 2: We had a bleep most of words. You heard the
- 3:16Speaker 2: word Nazi in there. But pretty ugly stuff. So President
- 3:21Speaker 2: Trump another big night last night. All of the people
- 3:23Speaker 2: he can't stand got voted out. Cornn lost badly. As
- 3:29Speaker 2: you heard earlier, two hundred and fifty four counties in Texas.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Cornn won two of them, actually one and a half.
- 3:38Speaker 2: One's not a real county, one only has a couple
- 3:40Speaker 2: hundred people in it. Al Green got tossed out. He's
- 3:43Speaker 2: that angry, nasty congressman. Remember he's the one that cursed
- 3:48Speaker 2: and screamed and yelled during the State of the Union.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Al Green the congressman, you know how he car was
- 3:53Speaker 2: on last hour he pointed out he might be right
- 3:55Speaker 2: that the reason Algreen originally got elected is the name Malgreene.
- 4:00Speaker 2: They might have thought it's a but it's not. It's
- 4:04Speaker 2: a different to Algren. It's a bad Algreen. So this
- 4:08Speaker 2: mom Donnie's scheme. First, he's got the supermarket scheme. Remember
- 4:12Speaker 2: he said thirty million for the supermarket. If you ask
- 4:16Speaker 2: the big supermarket chains, Cristiti's or Wegman's or any of them,
- 4:21Speaker 2: there's a million supermarket chains Stagastinas. Yeah, they all know
- 4:24Speaker 2: what they're doing. They'll tell you how much is it
- 4:26Speaker 2: to open and build a supermarket, they'll tell you two
- 4:28Speaker 2: million bucks, Mam Donnie, spending thirty million. Now it turns
- 4:33Speaker 2: out it's another twenty five million that's already been thrown
- 4:35Speaker 2: in there for the area around the supermarket. Now it's
- 4:39Speaker 2: a whole scheme. It's a crazy scheme. I remember this, mom, Donnie.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Besides being a wacko socialist, he's just a college kid.
- 4:47Speaker 2: We've never had a job, never worked, never run anything,
- 4:49Speaker 2: never managed anything. Doesn't just totally illogical about everything. So
- 4:55Speaker 2: this uh supermarket for lower income people, for poor people
- 5:00Speaker 2: who can't pay the regular prices. It's going to The
- 5:03Speaker 2: idea is they'll sell everything cheap. And the way they're
- 5:06Speaker 2: going to do that the supermarket is a government supermarket,
- 5:08Speaker 2: so they'll pay no rent, no taxes, and that way
- 5:11Speaker 2: they could sell it cheaper. Well, instead of trying to
- 5:15Speaker 2: build supermarkets, if we want to just take supermarkets in
- 5:18Speaker 2: the low income neighborhoods and arrange for them to have
- 5:21Speaker 2: no property tax and no rent, and in exchange for that,
- 5:25Speaker 2: they'll cut the price simpler. And then their professional supermarket
- 5:29Speaker 2: people they know how to run the stuff, they know
- 5:31Speaker 2: how to get inventory and supply and all they know
- 5:33Speaker 2: how to run a supermarket. But uh, Mom, Donnie doesn't
- 5:37Speaker 2: think that way, so he's going to try to do
- 5:39Speaker 2: it himself. Now, this is a supermarket for very low
- 5:42Speaker 2: income people. He is spending a lot of money in
- 5:46Speaker 2: these supermarkets to put in electric charging stations outside for
- 5:50Speaker 2: the electric cars. Now, there's nothing more expensive than electric car.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Electric car costs much more than a regular car. Why
- 5:57Speaker 2: he would think these are people you know on welfare
- 6:02Speaker 2: on this and that. Why you would think these people
- 6:03Speaker 2: would own electric cars living in the middle of Manhattan
- 6:09Speaker 2: or in the middle of the Bronx. They don't own
- 6:11Speaker 2: electric cars. You don't need the charging stations. Now, his
- 6:14Speaker 2: other scheme is do something about these landlords. If you're
- 6:20Speaker 2: a bad landlord, if your building is neglected too many complaints,
- 6:23Speaker 2: they'll government will take over the building Hill he said, Well,
- 6:28Speaker 2: they'll put it in the hands of a union or
- 6:30Speaker 2: a tenants union or receiver. Well, it's basically the government
- 6:33Speaker 2: taken over the building. Here's Mandani.
- 6:37Speaker 4: When necessary, we will take aggressive legal action to remove
- 6:40Speaker 4: negligent owners and property managers, and for buildings that have
- 6:47Speaker 4: suffered chronic neglect, we will work to transfer ownership to
- 6:51Speaker 4: responsible stewards.
- 6:55Speaker 2: That sounds good, doesn't it. Well, remember he's a communist.
- 6:57Speaker 2: He's a socialist. He's a communist. What's it really about.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It's what communists do, seizing private property, seizing private business.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So you might have a very very bad landlord. But
- 7:09Speaker 2: this is the idea, is that the government, the government
- 7:15Speaker 2: will seize the property and take it over. That's pretty good.
- 7:18Speaker 2: We have two visitors entering the studio. Now. The bible
- 7:22Speaker 2: of talk radio is Barrett Media, not just talk radio,
- 7:26Speaker 2: music radio, sports radio. It's like the media website Barrett Media.
- 7:32Speaker 2: In here is Jason Barrett and Stephanie Eads who they
- 7:36Speaker 2: both run Barrett Media. They see the posters two years
- 7:41Speaker 2: in a row, I won number one show in America.
- 7:44Speaker 2: We have both of them blown up and they're on
- 7:46Speaker 2: the walls here. And Jason, you want to say a
- 7:50Speaker 2: few words over there? Do these microphones actually work? We
- 7:54Speaker 2: have like seven microphones here. I don't know if they've
- 7:56Speaker 2: ever been turned on. So you are the number umber
- 8:00Speaker 2: one media website of the audio business. And you guys
- 8:04Speaker 2: are in New York. Oh, you went to Patsy's last night, right? Yeah?
- 8:07Speaker 5: It was great, fantastic recommendation. It's excellent did get it
- 8:12Speaker 5: from the guy who also calls us the Bible of
- 8:14Speaker 5: talk radio. You're the audience of one we appreciated.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Media and sports radio, music radio. You're doing a big
- 8:23Speaker 2: convention in July, right, June thirtieth, July, second major, major
- 8:29Speaker 2: convention here in New York. And who are some of
- 8:32Speaker 2: the speakers. You got Adam Carolla, you got Corolla.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Buck Sexton, Jimmy Fayla, this guy named Mark Simone. We've
- 8:39Speaker 5: got a bunch in the news talk world that are
- 8:41Speaker 5: going to be in the room. We've got the CEO
- 8:43Speaker 5: of Audissey. We've got a bunch of program directors, market managers,
- 8:48Speaker 5: talent all over the place.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's every major talk radio host in the world
- 8:53Speaker 2: all in one room. Try to get a word in.
- 8:55Speaker 2: It's unbelievable. You got to wear ear must.
- 8:59Speaker 5: That's the challenge. When you've got forty minutes and three
- 9:02Speaker 5: or four people, there's not enough time to get into things.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Yeah. You had it in New York last year at
- 9:06Speaker 2: a theater. Now you got to move so much, bigger theater. Yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 2: it's good.
- 9:09Speaker 5: Yeah that we're we'll be at the SBA Theater. It's
- 9:12Speaker 5: on West twenty third.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Street and if you if you really want to follow
- 9:15Speaker 2: not just talk radio, music radio, sports radio. Also you
- 9:18Speaker 2: got great coverage of TV and you know Colbert going
- 9:22Speaker 2: off with that kind of stuff. Just go to Barrett
- 9:24Speaker 2: Media two rs to teas, right, yep, Barrettmedia dot com
- 9:28Speaker 2: and start following it every day. It's a great, great website,
- 9:32Speaker 2: Barrettmedia dot com. You learn a lot. You won't need
- 9:36Speaker 2: all those stupid old Hollywood reporter.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, what was up with that? I know we talked
- 9:43Speaker 5: to you for How did they do a list on
- 9:45Speaker 5: most influential in New York in media and not have
- 9:49Speaker 5: anybody from the entire audio or radio industry.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's unbelievable, the Hollywood Reporter. It's a bunch of elitists,
- 9:57Speaker 2: out of touch LA people. The most influential people in
- 10:00Speaker 2: New York. They had, like somebody from New York Magazine,
- 10:02Speaker 2: which has twelve readers. They had people nobody's ever heard of.
- 10:06Speaker 5: The guy who runs iHeart Bob Pittman cut a deal
- 10:11Speaker 5: with Netflix, is generating massive global reach for the entire industry.
- 10:17Speaker 5: He's based here, and that guy's not on the list,
- 10:20Speaker 5: or Charlemagne the guy right, I know, I'm looking at
- 10:22Speaker 5: the list going how like you could debate should it
- 10:25Speaker 5: be Charlemagne, should it be Bob Pittman, should have Howard?
- 10:28Speaker 5: None of them on the list.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so it'd be like the NPR guy with twelve
- 10:32Speaker 2: listeners who whispers like this, and then no Elvis Durant
- 10:35Speaker 2: who has like ten million listeners, Charlemagne who has ten
- 10:38Speaker 2: million listeners, or go upstairs that Buck Sexton ten million listeners.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Sean Hannity sixteen million listeners.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Yep.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Hey, just to explain everybody, radio is there's some illusion
- 10:51Speaker 2: out there. Oh, radio is dying, nobody listens An not
- 10:53Speaker 2: the case.
- 10:54Speaker 5: No, it's not the case. Here's the deal. Radio is
- 10:57Speaker 5: more than just radio now. It's offered everywhere. It's the
- 11:00Speaker 5: content you're creating here right now that is going to
- 11:03Speaker 5: be in video, it's going to be in podcasts, it's
- 11:05Speaker 5: going to be in written form. And so there's never
- 11:07Speaker 5: been a better time to be an audio period. It's
- 11:10Speaker 5: just that it gets picked up in a lot of
- 11:12Speaker 5: different places. And because there's so much competition now, there's
- 11:16Speaker 5: more people creating audio than ever before. So because of that,
- 11:20Speaker 5: people might listen to you for an hour, whereas before
- 11:22Speaker 5: they listen for an hour and a half. Okay, but
- 11:24Speaker 5: there's more people listening to you for an hour now
- 11:26Speaker 5: than there are people that in the past. We're listening
- 11:29Speaker 5: for an hour and a half. So there's more interest
- 11:32Speaker 5: and content period. It's just that oftentimes the industry just
- 11:36Speaker 5: gets this negative rap and I don't think as an
- 11:39Speaker 5: industry we've done the best job at combating that. That's
- 11:42Speaker 5: why we do. What we do is to say, hey, listen,
- 11:45Speaker 5: there's you know, you just brought up all the examples
- 11:48Speaker 5: of Hannity's audience, Charlemage's audio. Millions of people are listening
- 11:52Speaker 5: to this every day. Go on the roadway in New
- 11:54Speaker 5: York City during afternoon drive traffic, and tell me that
- 11:57Speaker 5: people don't have a radio on.
- 11:59Speaker 6: They all do.
- 11:59Speaker 5: It's just that unfortunately it doesn't get its due and
- 12:04Speaker 5: video is such a it's an enticing format and medium
- 12:09Speaker 5: to a lot of advertisers, and that's what it's about.
- 12:12Speaker 5: It's all about the advertising component. That's why these stories
- 12:15Speaker 5: come out. Everybody just trying to keep bad rates down.
- 12:18Speaker 2: One hundred and fifty nine million people listen to the
- 12:21Speaker 2: radio every day. Sixty three million listen to AM radio
- 12:24Speaker 2: every day. So they'll tell you no one listens television
- 12:28Speaker 2: network Television twenty five million and dropping. So hey, Stephen Colbert,
- 12:33Speaker 2: you've been covering him. Just announced a YouTube channel. That's
- 12:38Speaker 2: not an indication that nobody wanted to hire him. Wouldn't
- 12:40Speaker 2: you assume if he was anything that would bring in
- 12:43Speaker 2: any revenue? Netflix, somebody would have come to him, HBO.
- 12:47Speaker 5: To be fair, I don't know his contractual situation, So
- 12:51Speaker 5: would a Netflix and Amazon, would a News Nation? Would
- 12:55Speaker 5: someone else hire him? Probably? Also, what does it cost
- 12:59Speaker 5: if they were losing forty million dollars on the show
- 13:01Speaker 5: and had a staff of two hundred people. Maybe people
- 13:04Speaker 5: don't want to put all those resources into it. And
- 13:06Speaker 5: maybe he doesn't want to do a show if he
- 13:08Speaker 5: doesn't have enough resource. So, and I also understand he's
- 13:12Speaker 5: trying to strike while the irons hot. If you are
- 13:14Speaker 5: going to need six to twelve months to deal with
- 13:16Speaker 5: legal stuff to go do content, you just go to
- 13:19Speaker 5: YouTube tomorrow and start doing it right. So we'll see
- 13:22Speaker 5: how it plays out. I got to believe somebody will
- 13:25Speaker 5: be interested in working with them at what level at
- 13:28Speaker 5: you know, at what cost? Is it effective? Like those
- 13:31Speaker 5: are going to be the big questions.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, daft at two hundred look at our control room.
- 13:35Speaker 2: How many people work? You got two too, and they're
- 13:38Speaker 2: not even listening. That's how it is in most stations. Yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I mean there was one engineer here every time I
- 13:45Speaker 2: was taught. He's laughing, laughing, boy, he was he laughing.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I go in there, I see he's watching a movie.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Had nothing to do with me. So anyway, Hey, we'll
- 13:52Speaker 2: take some calls next. Jason Barrett, everybody, and Stephanie Eads.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Thanks for being here. Everybody. Check out Barrett Media. You'll
- 14:00Speaker 2: you'll want to read it every Dayre you really interested
- 14:02Speaker 2: in media radio? Barrettmedia dot com. We'll take some calls next.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Eight hundred
- 14:11Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten. He's more.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Mark's so Mark Simone show on seven ten WI.
- 14:19Speaker 2: We'll take some calls. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 14:24Speaker 2: seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two one
- 14:27Speaker 2: zero seven ten. Let's go to John and Bayonne. John,
- 14:30Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 14:33Speaker 7: I'm doing okay? Uh, just a suggestion from mister Blakeman.
- 14:37Speaker 7: I received one of these postcards. On one side they
- 14:40Speaker 7: had Hokeel and Mondamie. On the other side they had Blakeman.
- 14:46Speaker 7: I don't know, I wouldn't share the postcard.
- 14:48Speaker 2: With Well, who who's the postcard from.
- 14:52Speaker 7: It's from Blakeman. It's promoting him as as governor. O.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Why are you getting it? You can't vote. You're in
- 14:58Speaker 2: New Jersey.
- 15:00Speaker 7: I'm sorry. I'm working in New Jersey, but I live
- 15:02Speaker 7: in Brooklyn.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Oh oh okay, Well that makes sense? All right? Well,
- 15:06Speaker 2: probably listening. So you just told him, thanks for calling.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Take care. Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how
- 15:14Speaker 2: you doing?
- 15:15Speaker 8: Mark?
- 15:16Speaker 6: Mike He was speaking earlier with another caller and he
- 15:19Speaker 6: mentioned the NYCHA housing. Another thing that NYCHA is sort
- 15:24Speaker 6: of manages in the city and in the state or
- 15:27Speaker 6: the state manages, and they're part of it is the
- 15:29Speaker 6: Section eight housing, which is a complete, correct, corrupt mess
- 15:33Speaker 6: that the government sinks money into alarming amounts.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's a total government running. Housing is the
- 15:41Speaker 2: worst disaster Ever'll you'll beg the slumlord to come back
- 15:45Speaker 2: and take over exactly.
- 15:47Speaker 6: And that goes to the supermarket scam. You know who,
- 15:50Speaker 6: I doubt anybody in Chinatown is going to trace up
- 15:53Speaker 6: to East Hallan to go to a supermarket where they
- 15:55Speaker 6: can save a dime on a can of corn. It
- 15:58Speaker 6: makes you know, it makes no sense packed even you know,
- 16:01Speaker 6: except for maybe somebody in the neighborhood.
- 16:03Speaker 2: No, and you could lower the price in every supermarket
- 16:05Speaker 2: in New York just like that. Just no property tax
- 16:08Speaker 2: on supermarkets and they'll cut exactly.
- 16:11Speaker 6: And you know it's you know, we have Bloomberg opened
- 16:14Speaker 6: up these green markets all over Uptown. You know where
- 16:17Speaker 6: I used to live up on the Upper east Side
- 16:18Speaker 6: and I would go up to Spanish Harlem to go shopping.
- 16:21Speaker 6: There was these green markets and every other corner green grocers,
- 16:24Speaker 6: and they were always empty. I'd be the only one
- 16:26Speaker 6: shopping there because nobody, you know who was like a
- 16:28Speaker 6: complete waste of money. You are a part of the
- 16:30Speaker 6: city to even establish these things. So these things don't work.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Now, why would you leave? You left the Upper east Side?
- 16:36Speaker 2: You're in Florida. Where are you in Florida?
- 16:38Speaker 6: Don't ask? Don't ask.
- 16:40Speaker 9: Please.
- 16:41Speaker 6: Every time I go back to I thought my rent
- 16:44Speaker 6: was too high, and now it's tripled, so I believe me.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Well, everybody, how bad it gets in Florida.
- 16:50Speaker 6: It's horrible. As it's hurricane season, so NonStop, all they're
- 16:54Speaker 6: talking about is hurricane preparedness. It's like a hurricane, Hurricane
- 16:57Speaker 6: torn They love it. They can't stop talking about. Every
- 17:00Speaker 6: other word out of their mouth is hurricane, this hurricane.
- 17:03Speaker 6: That's it's it's unnerving a billion old people doddering around.
- 17:09Speaker 6: Believe me, Stay in your stay in your apartment in Manhattan.
- 17:13Speaker 2: All right, thanks for calling. Yeah. Yeah. The one argument
- 17:17Speaker 2: people said, well, I can't. I can't take the snow anymore.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I can't take the winter. And hey, we did have
- 17:22Speaker 2: a bad winter this year with a couple of really
- 17:24Speaker 2: heavy blizzards. But how much was that? It was like
- 17:27Speaker 2: two weeks here, three weeks there. There's like a total
- 17:31Speaker 2: of six weeks of snow on the ground. Okay, it
- 17:33Speaker 2: was cold, but I'll take that over six months of
- 17:36Speaker 2: one hundred degree heat in the summer and hurricanes and
- 17:40Speaker 2: having to evacuate every two seconds. Uh, just stay in
- 17:44Speaker 2: New York much better. Let's go to Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe,
- 17:48Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 17:49Speaker 9: Good morning, Mark.
- 17:50Speaker 6: We had the same thing in Patterson, New Jersey, that
- 17:52Speaker 6: we called the public housing.
- 17:54Speaker 9: They destroyed them.
- 17:54Speaker 8: They took the copper out, they destroyed the building so
- 17:57Speaker 8: bad they couldn't.
- 17:58Speaker 6: Even fix them.
- 17:58Speaker 8: They had to demolish them. Yeah, so that's so much
- 18:01Speaker 8: for your public housing.
- 18:02Speaker 2: That's what happens, all right, thanks for calling, Oh, I forgot.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I was going to tell you the sinkhole on the lie.
- 18:09Speaker 2: People really concerned about this in the middle of the
- 18:12Speaker 2: Long Island Expressway out in Suffolk County. I think at
- 18:15Speaker 2: the Huntington exit, what's that forty nine Route one ten
- 18:19Speaker 2: somewhere around there. Sinkhole. Now, usually that's a tremendous amount
- 18:23Speaker 2: of groundwater. The water underneath erodes the bedrock and the soil,
- 18:29Speaker 2: It creates a big cavity and then the ground sinks
- 18:32Speaker 2: into it. So it's usually natural groundwater. That's why it happens,
- 18:36Speaker 2: like in Florida places like that. But so it was.
- 18:39Speaker 2: The thought was last week, as we told you, there
- 18:42Speaker 2: are pipes under there, infrastructure water pipes, and they thought
- 18:45Speaker 2: that one of them was so old and maybe the
- 18:47Speaker 2: joint broke or it leaked and put all that water
- 18:50Speaker 2: and that's why the sinkhole. Now that's pretty scary because
- 18:52Speaker 2: you got these pipes all under the lie. Well, there
- 18:57Speaker 2: might be another explanation. This might make you feel better.
- 19:00Speaker 2: There was a contractor doing work on the side along
- 19:04Speaker 2: the service road there and they were trying to drill
- 19:07Speaker 2: under the all to put something through like a like
- 19:10Speaker 2: a pipe all the way underneath, and they think that
- 19:13Speaker 2: something went wrong with whatever they were doing, and that
- 19:16Speaker 2: might have caused the water, which would be a good
- 19:18Speaker 2: thing because that means it's just that one particular thing,
- 19:21Speaker 2: it wasn't the infrastructure rotting. Let's go to Jane in
- 19:24Speaker 2: Long Island. Jane, how you doing?
- 19:27Speaker 10: Mark themone?
- 19:28Speaker 6: How are you?
- 19:29Speaker 10: Longtime listener?
- 19:30Speaker 2: Well? Thanks?
- 19:32Speaker 10: How's everybody? It's really nice to hear your boys, Long Island.
- 19:40Speaker 10: In Long Island, we're in plain View, Hicksville area.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I love Plaine View. You don't hear people say that
- 19:47Speaker 2: a lot, but I like Plane View. You got the
- 19:49Speaker 2: La Piazza there, you got cravings that great?
- 19:51Speaker 8: The supermarket that's right, that's right. You do know, you
- 19:55Speaker 8: do know your Oh you.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Got the new ivor Owne pizza.
- 19:58Speaker 10: There we got ivor Owne. Actually not too far away
- 20:03Speaker 10: up on Hempsheid Turnpike. We're getting an Uncle Giuseppe over
- 20:06Speaker 10: in Best Page.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Uncle Giuseppes is the greatest supermarkets, like the Italian Wegman's.
- 20:11Speaker 2: They're all over there Long Island. The best one is
- 20:13Speaker 2: in Meltony.
- 20:13Speaker 7: Their food is great.
- 20:15Speaker 10: They got the best meat bulls.
- 20:16Speaker 2: We can't get can't get them open in Manhattan, but
- 20:19Speaker 2: they should. But go ahead.
- 20:23Speaker 10: Not on politics, just wanted to know how's our buddy,
- 20:26Speaker 10: Joe Bartlett doing.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Bart's very happy. He's in Hilton Head, plays golf every day.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I don't understand these guys that can play golf every day.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I guess I used to a million years ago. I
- 20:38Speaker 2: can't do it anymore every day, but they love it. No,
- 20:40Speaker 2: he's very very happy. We'll have to get him on
- 20:43Speaker 2: one day and check in with him. He's on the
- 20:45Speaker 2: morning show now and then checking in. But thanks for calling.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing.
- 20:52Speaker 9: Good morning, Mark, Good morning. No matter where public housing
- 20:57Speaker 9: are tried, they always get bad news. Even in Italy,
- 21:01Speaker 9: public housing are terrible. They're all slums and ghettos.
- 21:06Speaker 8: Mark.
- 21:06Speaker 9: You pointed out one of the reasons why public housing
- 21:11Speaker 9: is bad news when you said Mondami's going to open
- 21:15Speaker 9: up these supermarkets and he's going to make them cheaper,
- 21:18Speaker 9: so he says by not being charged property taxes and
- 21:23Speaker 9: water and sewer use. Well, that's the reason why people
- 21:27Speaker 9: should be against any more public housing projects. Being built
- 21:32Speaker 9: because when the city comes in and on the eminent
- 21:36Speaker 9: domain and right away ubscons a bunch of private property
- 21:42Speaker 9: that was contributing to the tax base, that was paying
- 21:46Speaker 9: water and sewer taxes. Since the city doesn't pay water
- 21:50Speaker 9: and sewer taxes. Now that financial load that those private
- 21:57Speaker 9: owners were paying has to now be attributed to the
- 22:01Speaker 9: rest of the citizenry in that area, because the city,
- 22:05Speaker 9: as you pointed out, does not pay property or water
- 22:11Speaker 9: or seward taxes. And I learned that forty years ago
- 22:16Speaker 9: where the city absconded a bunch of single family homes
- 22:21Speaker 9: in Coney Allen and built those high rise projects over there,
- 22:26Speaker 9: which all of them a crime infested. And my brother
- 22:30Speaker 9: had a friend who owned one of the houses that
- 22:32Speaker 9: under eminent domain they took away. And I said, well,
- 22:36Speaker 9: why is anybody against us? He says why. He says,
- 22:40Speaker 9: they're not giving you mock of value for your property,
- 22:43Speaker 9: and plus the financial burden.
- 22:46Speaker 2: It's a mess. We got to go do the news,
- 22:48Speaker 2: but great point. Thanks for calling. Hey. When we come back,
- 22:52Speaker 2: Bruce Blakeman the next governor of New York. He'll be
- 22:55Speaker 2: with us next on seven to ten.
- 22:57Speaker 7: W R.
- 23:02Speaker 9: WOMR.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Well Bruce Blakeman. Of course, he's the county executive of
- 23:07Speaker 2: Nasau County. That's like being a governor, and it's the
- 23:09Speaker 2: best run county in America. You can look at all
- 23:11Speaker 2: the numbers, so nobody would be a better governor for
- 23:14Speaker 2: New York than Bruce Blakeman. Now you can help out,
- 23:17Speaker 2: you can donate, you can volunteer. Just go to blakemanfro
- 23:20Speaker 2: New York dot com Blakeman for New York dot Com.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Also make sure you're following on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, all
- 23:27Speaker 2: that great social media. And he's with us now. Bruce Blakeman,
- 23:30Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 23:32Speaker 8: I'm doing great, Mark. It's always the pleasure to be
- 23:35Speaker 8: with you.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yeah. You Hey, you spoke with the President on Friday,
- 23:39Speaker 2: right at the same event.
- 23:41Speaker 8: Yeah, the President was great. He was just so wonderful.
- 23:45Speaker 8: There was the family of that young west Chester girl, Sheridan,
- 23:50Speaker 8: who was murdered by a legal migrant in Chicago. He
- 23:54Speaker 8: was just wonderful to the family. Then he met the
- 23:57Speaker 8: mom of a young man who's saved many lives on
- 24:01Speaker 8: nine to eleven. And of course Mike Wawler, a great
- 24:06Speaker 8: member of Congress. All together to talk about American values,
- 24:11Speaker 8: and I was fortunate enough to be able to speak
- 24:14Speaker 8: there twice. He called me up on stage, he gave
- 24:17Speaker 8: me a lot of shout outs, and I consider him
- 24:21Speaker 8: a good friend, but more importantly, he's a great president.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, the Kathy Hockle, You've got to beat her
- 24:28Speaker 2: in November. I think you will. And as far as
- 24:33Speaker 2: the money, she's got thirty two million in her war chest. Now,
- 24:36Speaker 2: they tried to block you, and they pulled all kinds
- 24:38Speaker 2: of funny business to deny you campaign financing. Has that
- 24:41Speaker 2: been fixed?
- 24:43Speaker 8: Yeah, we won that case, but Kathy Hochel is using
- 24:47Speaker 8: taxpayer money to appeal that when on all four corners
- 24:52Speaker 8: of the law we were solid. And it's more dirty
- 24:57Speaker 8: tricks from Kathy ho She scared to death of me,
- 25:00Speaker 8: and basically she knows that people are miserable in New York.
- 25:05Speaker 8: We're over tax our utility rates or seventy percent higher
- 25:09Speaker 8: than the national average. So I'm going to cut them
- 25:12Speaker 8: in half when I become governor. We're going to lower taxes.
- 25:15Speaker 8: We're going to create jobs and make for safe for communities.
- 25:18Speaker 8: And yesterday we filed sixty six thousand signatures on a
- 25:24Speaker 8: petition to put me on an independent line called Vote Affordable,
- 25:28Speaker 8: and we needed only forty five thousand. We were able
- 25:31Speaker 8: to get sixty six thousand people, and that was just
- 25:34Speaker 8: a tremendous effort. So not only will I be running
- 25:37Speaker 8: as a Republican and the Conservative, but also on the
- 25:39Speaker 8: Vote Affordable line. So that's a big boost to the
- 25:43Speaker 8: campaign and we feel very confident. I do expect to
- 25:46Speaker 8: be governor on January first, of twenty twenty seven.
- 25:50Speaker 2: No, it would save New York. I've heard her mention
- 25:53Speaker 2: you a few times now. You never do that if
- 25:55Speaker 2: you're well ahead and you're totally confident. You only mentioned
- 25:58Speaker 2: the opponent when you're really getting scared. So it looks
- 26:00Speaker 2: like you're making a lot of progress, right.
- 26:03Speaker 8: Well, I'll tell you she spent a million dollars on
- 26:06Speaker 8: attack ads on me last month. You don't spend a
- 26:11Speaker 8: million dollars on attack ads on a Republican in New
- 26:14Speaker 8: York State when you're the incumbent governor unless you're in deep,
- 26:18Speaker 8: and she's in deep. She knows the race is neck
- 26:22Speaker 8: and neck, and that you know you can't run away
- 26:25Speaker 8: from your record number forty one out of fifty states
- 26:28Speaker 8: in economic development, The once Great Empire state. That's just
- 26:33Speaker 8: a national embarrassment.
- 26:35Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 26:35Speaker 2: So when you ran for NASA count executive, Laura Kern
- 26:39Speaker 2: was way ahead, and she wasn't bad. She wasn't terrible.
- 26:42Speaker 2: She was I mean, you're much better, but she was okay,
- 26:44Speaker 2: and you beat her. You came out and just took
- 26:47Speaker 2: off and crushed her.
- 26:50Speaker 8: Well, you know, she was very popular. She was an incumbent.
- 26:54Speaker 8: She was a Democrat in the county with one hundred
- 26:56Speaker 8: and ten thousand more Democrats than Republicans and were able
- 27:00Speaker 8: to win that race. She was very well liked. I
- 27:03Speaker 8: liked Laura Kurrn. I just didn't agree with her policies.
- 27:05Speaker 8: So I ran an issue oriented campaign, talked about issues,
- 27:09Speaker 8: and the people agreed with me. And then we've had
- 27:13Speaker 8: four years of nothing but success. Named the safest county
- 27:17Speaker 8: in America by US News, and we'rele report seven bond upgrades,
- 27:21Speaker 8: four budget surpluses, and I haven't raised taxes one penny
- 27:25Speaker 8: mark in four years. As a matter of fact, I
- 27:28Speaker 8: cut Laura Curn's one hundred and fifty million dollar tax
- 27:30Speaker 8: increase completely out of the budget.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yeah, a remarkable job. In Esso, kunt Of, you'd be
- 27:36Speaker 2: the best choice for governor for New York. Everybody go
- 27:38Speaker 2: to blakemanfronew York dot com. You can donate there or
- 27:41Speaker 2: volunteer whatever you want to do. Blakemanfronewyork dot com. Hey,
- 27:45Speaker 2: in the old days when you ran, you know, you'd
- 27:47Speaker 2: film these, you know, very you know, typical TV commercials.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Talk about it. Now it's different. You got to be
- 27:53Speaker 2: on social media. It's AI videos and that kind of stuff.
- 27:56Speaker 8: Right. Oh, yeah, we're doing AI AI. We have social influencers.
- 28:03Speaker 8: We've got a tremendous amount of presence on social media.
- 28:08Speaker 8: We've gotten twelve million views just last month in our
- 28:12Speaker 8: social media twelve million dwarfs anything that Kathy Hoko has done.
- 28:17Speaker 8: So we are very active. We understand that that's a
- 28:21Speaker 8: new form of communication that's very important. So not only
- 28:24Speaker 8: are we doing direct mail and print media and radio
- 28:28Speaker 8: and TV ads, but we're doing a lot of social
- 28:31Speaker 8: media and a lot of streaming. So we're going to
- 28:33Speaker 8: run a very robust campaign until victory.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Hey, talk about you talk about taxes, but talk about electricity.
- 28:41Speaker 2: I don't think people realize in New York how much
- 28:44Speaker 2: more they're paying for electricity. What can we do about that?
- 28:48Speaker 8: Well, mark, it's seventy percent higher than national average. That's
- 28:51Speaker 8: because if you look at your electric bill, only thirty
- 28:56Speaker 8: percent of your paintment goes for energy. And she just
- 28:59Speaker 8: raised the cost of utilities again by agreeing to another
- 29:04Speaker 8: increase on the delivery cost. Our delivery costs are excessive.
- 29:09Speaker 8: She taxes your utility bill and you pay when you
- 29:13Speaker 8: pay your bill. For the green energy scam, where she
- 29:17Speaker 8: puts a fund together of billions of dollars basically to
- 29:21Speaker 8: invest in science projects, costs billions of dollars, produces very
- 29:25Speaker 8: little energy, And we are sitting on one of the
- 29:28Speaker 8: Latin largest natural gas reserves in the world and she
- 29:31Speaker 8: won't let us drill. We're right on the other side
- 29:34Speaker 8: of the border in Pennsylvania they can drill, and we're
- 29:37Speaker 8: buying our gas from Pennsylvania.
- 29:40Speaker 7: It's insane.
- 29:42Speaker 2: So what would it take to get fracking going here
- 29:46Speaker 2: in New York legislature? What would it take?
- 29:49Speaker 8: No, I believe that as governor I have the right
- 29:52Speaker 8: to to start that program and license them to start
- 29:58Speaker 8: fracking there. Let's get as much natural gas as possible.
- 30:02Speaker 8: We've got plenty of it, and that'll increase the supply.
- 30:05Speaker 8: And when you increase the supply, it brings down the cost,
- 30:08Speaker 8: and that's what we want to do. Kathy Hockel has
- 30:11Speaker 8: done nothing to make it more affordable in New York.
- 30:14Speaker 8: In fact, she's made it unaffordable over the last four years.
- 30:18Speaker 8: I'm going to be a governor that creates jobs, prosperity,
- 30:20Speaker 8: brings taxes down, country utility rates, and makes for not
- 30:24Speaker 8: only an affordable state, but a safe state and a
- 30:27Speaker 8: state where there's jobs, good jobs with good benefits. Kathy
- 30:32Speaker 8: Hochel is the most anti union governor we've ever had.
- 30:38Speaker 8: I mean, everything that American workers stand for, Kathy Hochel
- 30:44Speaker 8: is against. And that's why so many unions who traditionally
- 30:48Speaker 8: don't support Republicans are supporting me.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Now, Bruce Blakeman as governor, what can you do about
- 30:53Speaker 2: mom Donnie? As far as keeping him in line, keeping
- 30:55Speaker 2: him from pulling any of his crazy schemes.
- 31:00Speaker 8: I have the power over the purse, so I will
- 31:03Speaker 8: use that. In addition, I can take over any city
- 31:07Speaker 8: agencies that aren't performing, and as a drastic matter, it
- 31:13Speaker 8: would be a last resort because he is a duly
- 31:16Speaker 8: elected official, and I don't think that should be upset
- 31:20Speaker 8: by removing him from office unless he's engaged in egregious
- 31:25Speaker 8: unlawful conduct. But if he does engage in egregious unlawful conduct,
- 31:29Speaker 8: I will remove him as mayor. So hopefully he'll behave himself.
- 31:35Speaker 8: Kathy Hokeel, he will not behave himself. Comrade Kathy is
- 31:38Speaker 8: right with Mandamida Kami in destroying the economy of New
- 31:42Speaker 8: York uh, increasing anti Semitism in our city and an
- 31:47Speaker 8: atmosphere of complete lawlessness in New York City, which I
- 31:50Speaker 8: will stop when I become governor.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well, everybody, you got to help Bruce Blackmann. You
- 31:54Speaker 2: can donate, you can volunteer. Go to Blakeman from new
- 31:57Speaker 2: York dot com, Blakeman for new York dot com. And
- 32:02Speaker 2: what do you need people to do for you? Obviously donate,
- 32:04Speaker 2: but what else can they do?
- 32:07Speaker 8: Yeah, we need volunteers, and you know you got the
- 32:09Speaker 8: power of your cell phone. So text people, email people,
- 32:15Speaker 8: click onto our Instagram, watch our TikTok, go on Facebook.
- 32:21Speaker 8: Make sure that everybody gets active and realizes that we're
- 32:24Speaker 8: at a tipping point in New York. We can go
- 32:27Speaker 8: in a great direction on my leadership, where we continue
- 32:30Speaker 8: to be a failure and an unaffordable state with people
- 32:34Speaker 8: moving out and businesses moving out. So go to Blakemanfrodewyork
- 32:38Speaker 8: dot com, get your friends out to vote, and we
- 32:42Speaker 8: will do this. We will turn the state around and
- 32:44Speaker 8: people will be happy again in New York rather than
- 32:46Speaker 8: be miserable under Kathy Hogle.
- 32:48Speaker 2: All right, everybody, go to Blakeman from New York dot com.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Bruce Blakeman, keep up the good work and I know
- 32:53Speaker 2: you're working hard, and we'll talk again soon.
- 32:56Speaker 8: Thanks so much, Mark, God bless you.
- 32:58Speaker 2: All right, take care, go to Blakemanfromnewyork dot com. Donate,
- 33:02Speaker 2: volunteer all that stuff. Hey, oh, I forgot to tell you.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Joe Biden suing the Trump administration. Remember when he was writing,
- 33:14Speaker 2: he was writing a book, He wrote an autobiography, and
- 33:18Speaker 2: he had a ghostwriter. So the ghostwriter what they do
- 33:21Speaker 2: is they interview you, they record it, They interview you
- 33:23Speaker 2: for like a thousand hours and talk to you. Then
- 33:26Speaker 2: later Remember there was a special counsel investigating Joe Biden
- 33:30Speaker 2: and apparently he got the special counselor decided not to
- 33:35Speaker 2: prosecute Biden. Not that he wasn't guilty of stuff, They
- 33:37Speaker 2: just said his memory's gone. He's an old guy. He's
- 33:40Speaker 2: not even capable of testifying. But somewhere that Special Council
- 33:44Speaker 2: got a hold of the audio of the ghostwriter interviewing Biden,
- 33:48Speaker 2: which means it's now in the hands of the Justice Department.
- 33:51Speaker 2: The Trump Justice Department wants to release the audio. Joe
- 33:54Speaker 2: Biden is now suing the Department of Justice to block
- 33:57Speaker 2: the release of that audio. Apparently it's very embarrassing. Apparently
- 34:03Speaker 2: he's totally out of it. He's just completely his brain
- 34:07Speaker 2: is all fried and you can hear it on the audio.
- 34:10Speaker 2: So he's suing trying to block the release of that.
- 34:12Speaker 2: This will be fascinating stuff if this gets released. Very
- 34:16Speaker 2: embarrassing for the media and Democrats that covered up for him. Hey,
- 34:20Speaker 2: don't forget at noon, it's Buck and Clay coming up
- 34:23Speaker 2: with a great show. And then you got the most
- 34:25Speaker 2: listened to radio show in America. Sean Hannity at three,
- 34:29Speaker 2: Jesse Kelly at six, the Brilliant Funny Jimmy Fayla every
- 34:33Speaker 2: night now nine to midnight. And don't forget Curtis's back,
- 34:36Speaker 2: Curtis Lee, What Larry Mente every morning six to ten
- 34:39Speaker 2: on seven ten wr.
- 34:42Speaker 1: If you're listening to Mark on the iHeartRadio app, Save
- 34:45Speaker 1: time and tap the preset button. Now now back to
- 34:48Speaker 1: the Mark Simon Show on wor Hey.
- 34:52Speaker 2: The Cabinet meeting underway at the White House. The press
- 34:55Speaker 2: is in there, the cameras are in there. Then they'll
- 34:57Speaker 2: throw them all out and get down to very serious business. Well,
- 35:01Speaker 2: we're out of time. I'll be back tomorrow. I'm here
- 35:03Speaker 2: every weekday, tend to noon. I hope you will be too,
- 35:06Speaker 2: or listen to anytime get the podcast, See you later.
