- 0:07Speaker 1: Do you want to be all right? Melanie see joining
- 0:13Speaker 1: us live on the show Good Morning, Good Money, Money Hey.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Voice premiered here in Australia on Sunday. It just keeps
- 0:22Speaker 1: getting better and better, and we've got like a fifth
- 0:25Speaker 1: judge now Tones, and I what's it like being back
- 0:29Speaker 1: on the Voice.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Do you know what this season? I was worried because
- 0:34Speaker 2: I thought last year was so much fun. Can we
- 0:37Speaker 2: do it again? But you know what, it's bigger and
- 0:39Speaker 2: better this year. It's the shock after shock, amazing talent
- 0:45Speaker 2: and I'm feeling quite confident I could get the crown
- 0:49Speaker 2: this year.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Well, now you've got to compete with four other people
- 0:53Speaker 3: to get contestants.
- 0:55Speaker 2: That's anna, It's true, It's true. It was. It was
- 0:59Speaker 2: so funny because we literally had no idea that Tones
- 1:02Speaker 2: was there. They were really sneaky backstage. They were like
- 1:05Speaker 2: they had like in a flightcase, wheeling around and everyone
- 1:09Speaker 2: was like so poker faced. We had no idea, but
- 1:12Speaker 2: it is brilliant having it. It's such a great addition
- 1:15Speaker 2: to the show, and it's wonderful because it's given people
- 1:17Speaker 2: another opportunity to, you know, to be able to come
- 1:20Speaker 2: back in audition.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I always like to think that I could one day
- 1:24Speaker 4: audition for the voice because I feel like.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Well, audition doesn't mean you're going to get through.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I feel like I'm an exceptional singer. Bart only ever
- 1:32Speaker 4: in the shower?
- 1:33Speaker 2: Is this thing?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Right? Should we do the voice shower? Melanie?
- 1:39Speaker 2: I think there's definitely a world for that. Well, it's great, isn't.
- 1:41Speaker 2: You've got great acoustics. Yes, you've got all that fish
- 1:44Speaker 2: chair as well, which is greatly vocal cords. And I
- 1:48Speaker 2: think the thing is when you're relaxed, you do sing better. Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I just I don't know how these people get up
- 1:54Speaker 2: on that stage. It must be so intimidating. The chairs
- 1:58Speaker 2: are facing away and they do such an incredible job.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I'm always like blown away with the courage. Yeah, I
- 2:04Speaker 2: always think the same thing.
- 2:06Speaker 3: There you go, Yeah, Melanie, I just want to say
- 2:09Speaker 3: congratulations on your wedding. Why we've missed the biggest thing here?
- 2:13Speaker 2: I know. I was. It was amazing, it was perfect.
- 2:19Speaker 2: It was only just over two weeks ago when it happened.
- 2:22Speaker 2: So yeah, my feet haven't touched the ground really because
- 2:25Speaker 2: we had a beautiful weekend with our families and friends,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and then I was in Abifa, I was DJing and
- 2:32Speaker 2: then like having some fun and yeah, I've literally I
- 2:35Speaker 2: got home like two days ago.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Okay, Now, basically all of the Spy Skirls were there.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Are not posh, there's no problem because she helped with
- 2:43Speaker 1: the dress. We'll talk about. But was there a Spy
- 2:47Speaker 1: Skirls song played at your wedding? I mean surely you
- 2:50Speaker 1: can't get married and not have at least one.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Look, there was not one Space Girls.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Albums quite yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Absolutely, back to back. No. We it was so lovely
- 3:04Speaker 2: because myself and my husband, which I like saying because
- 3:08Speaker 2: it's only pressure both us, our friends, our families were
- 3:13Speaker 2: all massive music lovers and there were so many different
- 3:16Speaker 2: generations there and I wanted to like have everyone satisfied.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So throughout the day, in the evening, you know, we
- 3:23Speaker 2: had from Motown, you know, Spice Girls. There was a
- 3:28Speaker 2: bit a classical thrown in, and of course we had
- 3:29Speaker 2: the DJs on and we all had a dance. So yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 2: there was a bit of everything. So good.
- 3:34Speaker 4: And where did you meet your husband because was it
- 3:37Speaker 4: while you were recording the Voice in Sydney?
- 3:40Speaker 2: No? Actually, so we met and Reya just like yes
- 3:47Speaker 2: and yeah, we were talking for a few months, and
- 3:49Speaker 2: I was actually coming to Australia to tour as a DJ,
- 3:53Speaker 2: so I just thought he's really cute. You know, nothing's
- 3:57Speaker 2: going to happen. He lives in Sydney, I live in London.
- 3:59Speaker 2: What it's going to happen. But he's cute enough to
- 4:02Speaker 2: go on a date with And we went out on
- 4:05Speaker 2: our first day and have been together ever since since.
- 4:08Speaker 2: We could all like really quickly.
- 4:09Speaker 3: That's same that you could meet someone on a dating
- 4:13Speaker 3: app who's a celebrity and then you could get married
- 4:16Speaker 3: to them.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Literally, did you do like Jack? Did you do like
- 4:20Speaker 1: face times? Is that how you were keeping in contact
- 4:23Speaker 1: with each other?
- 4:24Speaker 2: We didn't. I think we're both quite shy as well,
- 4:28Speaker 2: so there was you know, lots of messaging and we
- 4:30Speaker 2: didn't actually speak until we met.
- 4:33Speaker 4: I feel like in terms of like cultures and stuff,
- 4:36Speaker 4: I think Australian and English people are quite similar. Like
- 4:40Speaker 4: they've got good banter, they know how to hold a conversation,
- 4:43Speaker 4: good senses of humor, like to have a drink and
- 4:46Speaker 4: then no one's too serious.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So I think it's a really nice machine of this
- 4:51Speaker 2: and you know what it is. Yeah, you're so right.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I always say this is like Australians are like, they're
- 4:57Speaker 2: not only like British people that they're like northern people. Okay,
- 5:02Speaker 2: so yeah, we have the Yeah, the kinship is real. Absolutely.
- 5:07Speaker 2: We love laughing at each other ourselves and having a drink.
- 5:13Speaker 1: The Northerners a bit rougher, Melanie, Yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 4: I'm rough around the So what's going to happen, Melanie, Well,
- 5:22Speaker 4: your husband eventually relocate to the UK or are you
- 5:25Speaker 4: going to relocate to Australia.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Well, we have the best of both worlds. Yeah, you
- 5:31Speaker 2: really do have the opportunity to, you know, to spend
- 5:35Speaker 2: time in both. My daughter is still at school at
- 5:37Speaker 2: the moment, so I have to be here in London.
- 5:40Speaker 2: But yeah, I get to spend really lovely chunks of
- 5:43Speaker 2: time in Australia. But my work, I've always traveled. I'm
- 5:46Speaker 2: all over the place. So yeah, he's the same, he
- 5:49Speaker 2: loves to travel.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Is that the sacred to a good relationship separate countries?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Is that how it works?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Do you know what? We're he's here now, Okay, we're
- 6:00Speaker 2: always Yeah, we travel together. We don't like being a
- 6:04Speaker 2: part very much.
- 6:05Speaker 4: My uncle actually over in he lives in Paris, and
- 6:09Speaker 4: his wife lives in the UK and they've been together
- 6:11Speaker 4: for like fifty years and he swears by it.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow, people, it's only a train trip.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Away from that, all right.
- 6:22Speaker 1: More coming up with Melanie CE and you want to
- 6:24Speaker 1: ask her a question? Calling now thirteen one oh six five.
- 6:28Speaker 1: We will get you live on air with Melanie to
- 6:30Speaker 1: see anything you want to ask her here on kids.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Okay, Melanie c is joining us live on air this morning.
- 6:49Speaker 1: We got some people that have called in that want
- 6:51Speaker 1: to speak to you. Just before we do, though, we
- 6:54Speaker 1: got to ask more a little bit more about the wedding.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I know our producer wanted to know a few of
- 7:00Speaker 1: the girls might have been wearing white or it almost
- 7:03Speaker 1: looks like what out of those spice girls, how do
- 7:06Speaker 1: we feel about that?
- 7:08Speaker 2: No? Fine, so yeah, I did have a little chat
- 7:12Speaker 2: with Jerry because it is her favorite color every day.
- 7:16Speaker 2: But she had a beautiful floral dress on and it
- 7:20Speaker 2: was white, white, like yeah, yeah, but I did have
- 7:25Speaker 2: a little giggle with her about that. Everyone looked gorgeous.
- 7:28Speaker 2: You know. It was a similar wedding. We had beautiful weather.
- 7:31Speaker 2: It was up in the Lake District in the north
- 7:33Speaker 2: of the UK, so the weather. We were like m
- 7:36Speaker 2: but we had perfect four perfect gays.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Okay, well, there we go. Melanie C says, if you're
- 7:41Speaker 1: going to all wedding, it's okay to.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Wear white if there's some flowers.
- 7:45Speaker 2: On it too.
- 7:46Speaker 1: If you're a spice girl, Hey, I'm thirty one, oh
- 7:49Speaker 1: sixty five, Emily, you're on with Melanie C.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 7:52Speaker 1: What do you want to ask?
- 7:53Speaker 3: Oh my god, I don't believe was right now?
- 7:57Speaker 1: Hi, Emily, I want to No, I'm getting married into.
- 8:01Speaker 1: What was the one thing you spent money on that
- 8:04Speaker 1: was worth it for your wedding?
- 8:07Speaker 2: Oh gosh, you know it's so expensive. I wanted to
- 8:12Speaker 2: create for me what was most important because I was
- 8:14Speaker 2: bringing all these people together that I love so dearly.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I wanted the food to be great. I wanted the
- 8:20Speaker 2: cocktails to be great. I wanted the entertainment to be great.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And we went over budget like everybody always does, but
- 8:27Speaker 2: it was so worth it because those memories. It just
- 8:30Speaker 2: felt perfect. So I would say, if there are some
- 8:33Speaker 2: little things like, oh, I don't know whether to the
- 8:36Speaker 2: things that are important to you, maybe just put a
- 8:39Speaker 2: bit of money in the kitty for that.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Oh perfect, Okay, thank you mom, Millie, he's got a
- 8:46Speaker 1: question for Melanie's so you're on with a go for it.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Oh hello, mel Look, I do love you so much.
- 8:52Speaker 4: I'm just gonna I'm going to take my moment and
- 8:54Speaker 4: straight up ask why Victoria wasn't at your wedding.
- 8:59Speaker 2: So they was very disappointed to not be there. She
- 9:03Speaker 2: was with David in New York and it was the
- 9:05Speaker 2: football final, the World Cup, and she tried to get
- 9:09Speaker 2: out of it. She isn't the biggest football fan, she
- 9:12Speaker 2: won't mind me telling her, but the family with her
- 9:15Speaker 2: and David had commitments being an ambassador for FIFA. But
- 9:20Speaker 2: of course she made my gorgeous dress and she was
- 9:23Speaker 2: messaging me on the day and I actually saw her
- 9:25Speaker 2: when I was in Abiita, so we had a little
- 9:28Speaker 2: catch up. So yeah, we were giving her updates and
- 9:30Speaker 2: sending her patches.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Okay, and that's where the honeymoon was. Can you tell
- 9:33Speaker 1: us what it was like?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Oh well, I mean honeymoon. It was kind of a
- 9:38Speaker 2: friend moon, a family moon. Everybody was there and Ibetha
- 9:41Speaker 2: is such a fun island. You know, I love my
- 9:43Speaker 2: dance music and going out clubbing, so we just had
- 9:46Speaker 2: loads of people join us. And we just we hardly slept,
- 9:50Speaker 2: We ate great food, we drank great cocktails, and we
- 9:52Speaker 2: danced all night long. And I'm still recovering.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I went to ibetha Ones Fluid and I
- 9:58Speaker 3: think it was about five pm. Flew out at eleven am, Like,
- 10:02Speaker 3: didn't sleep the whole time, barely remember the whole thing
- 10:05Speaker 3: when I.
- 10:06Speaker 4: When I went to Ibtha, I went for four days
- 10:09Speaker 4: and then I ended up having the best time of
- 10:13Speaker 4: my life that I extended for another two weeks. And
- 10:16Speaker 4: my English boyfriend at the time was like, get home now.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Amy, what are you doing.
- 10:22Speaker 4: I was like, I love it here. It's a great island.
- 10:25Speaker 2: It's one of those Yeah, it's a magical island. It
- 10:27Speaker 2: just draws you in and it's like and time just
- 10:30Speaker 2: kind of studs still in a way, like I never
- 10:32Speaker 2: stay up late, but there you just stun Melanie.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Can I just ask one last question? Do you have
- 10:39Speaker 4: any advice for other women who are looking, you know,
- 10:42Speaker 4: kind of for their happily ever after later in life?
- 10:45Speaker 4: Because you look so stunning and so happy, and I
- 10:52Speaker 4: just want to know, is there any advice that you
- 10:53Speaker 4: can share with other women who were still looking for that, you.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Know, what I kind of written off getting married. I
- 11:02Speaker 2: just didn't think it was part of my story, and
- 11:05Speaker 2: I'd made peace with that. I have a beautiful daughter,
- 11:08Speaker 2: you know, I have a fabulous career, and I'm really
- 11:10Speaker 2: happy in my life. And then, you know, I met
- 11:13Speaker 2: somebody that just made me feel very, very different. I
- 11:16Speaker 2: wanted to be family with him, and so I would
- 11:20Speaker 2: say to any women who are, you know, elder. I
- 11:22Speaker 2: have a lot of friends similar age to me who
- 11:25Speaker 2: are single. And again, it's never too late. It's never
- 11:28Speaker 2: too late for anything. You know. I started djaying eight
- 11:31Speaker 2: years ago, and you know, and it's brought me so
- 11:34Speaker 2: much joy, and I think, just always be open and
- 11:39Speaker 2: just do all the things. That's become my new mantra,
- 11:43Speaker 2: because I just think life is too short to not
- 11:45Speaker 2: have a go at everything, do all the things.
- 11:49Speaker 1: We love it all right. The Voice continue seven thirty
- 11:52Speaker 1: Monday and Tuesday on seven and seven plus Melanie's say
- 11:55Speaker 1: congratulations on the wedding.
- 11:57Speaker 2: And thank you, thank you for coming on cares my pleasure.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I'll see you soon.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Take care, my Melanie
