- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, friends, welcome. It's the second hour of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: morning show with Preston Scott. It is great to be
- 0:12Speaker 1: with you. We gotta get busy though, and we are
- 0:16Speaker 1: joined by the gun writer. Ladies and gentlemen. He is
- 0:19Speaker 1: Lee Williams. Lee. Welcome to the show again. How are
- 0:22Speaker 1: you good morning.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I'm doing welcher. How are you?
- 0:25Speaker 1: I am doing really well. But I've got to tell
- 0:28Speaker 1: you when I when I read your latest story, boy,
- 0:32Speaker 1: I would imagine you've gotta you've gotta somehow find a
- 0:36Speaker 1: way to calm yourself down after writing about what's happened
- 0:40Speaker 1: to uh, this young man. To set this story up,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I want you to describe who Jeffrey Bodell is with
- 0:48Speaker 1: ATF and then share the story of Tate.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Oh boy, it's a little early for this.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yep.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Jeff Bodell is what they call a well I don't
- 1:04Speaker 2: think I'll use those words on your radio show.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:08Speaker 2: He is a Firearms Enforcement Officer FEO. He works for
- 1:14Speaker 2: the ATF. He's non sworn, he's not armed. He's a
- 1:18Speaker 2: specialist and unfortunately for Patrick Kate Adomiak and we've written
- 1:25Speaker 2: more than a dozen stories about him. Right now, this
- 1:30Speaker 2: kid made up a bunch of lies about the guns
- 1:37Speaker 2: founded Patrick's home, and unfortunately the jury believed him, and
- 1:43Speaker 2: Patrick's now doing twenty years. Jeff Brodell was a failed gunsmith.
- 1:48Speaker 2: He went to the small Gunsmithing Academy in Pittsburgh, tried
- 1:53Speaker 2: it on his own, tried it working for a couple
- 1:55Speaker 2: of places, couldn't make a dollar, so he joined the ATF.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's terrible how they used this guy. He supposedly has
- 2:04Speaker 2: a Bachelor of Criminals Criminal Justice. I haven't been able
- 2:08Speaker 2: to get anything out of school to confirm that. He
- 2:11Speaker 2: supposedly graduated from the Pennsylvania Gunsmiths School. Had been able
- 2:13Speaker 2: to get anything out of the school to confirm that.
- 2:16Speaker 2: But man, you talk about a devastating guy. What he
- 2:21Speaker 2: did is he took all of this stuff, the legal
- 2:24Speaker 2: stuff they found at Patrick's home, and he turned it illegal.
- 2:29Speaker 2: And Patrick, who's now thirty one, has another seventeen years
- 2:32Speaker 2: to go in under prison. Now. Patrick was East sixth
- 2:37Speaker 2: and the Navy. He had a private gun site, a
- 2:41Speaker 2: website where he sold gun parts and not guns. Always
- 2:44Speaker 2: very careful. When they kicked down his door and went
- 2:48Speaker 2: through all his stuff, they didn't find anything illegal, which
- 2:51Speaker 2: is why they called him this odell character because he
- 2:55Speaker 2: made quite frankly.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I was going to say, when you say he turned
- 3:02Speaker 1: it illegal, we're not talking about in essence of euphemism,
- 3:07Speaker 1: for he just adequately described what the real sinister nature was.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You mean he literally turned some of these things into
- 3:17Speaker 1: illegal weapons firearms, I should say.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah. The worst thing for me were the RPGs, the
- 3:23Speaker 2: rock and propelled grenade launchers. Patrick had bought two of
- 3:25Speaker 2: these when he was nineteen in California, and he later
- 3:30Speaker 2: flew back to the East Coast with them in his luggage,
- 3:34Speaker 2: all taking apart atf or NSA. Never even opened to
- 3:39Speaker 2: his suitcase when they saw him. RPGs are rocket propelled
- 3:42Speaker 2: the AID launchers, Patrick said, two of them, which were
- 3:46Speaker 2: both made to shoot, not to shoot. I mean, they're
- 3:50Speaker 2: both made in this country. They didn't have any cyrillic
- 3:54Speaker 2: letters or anything on their training aids. AHTF took a
- 3:58Speaker 2: sub caliber training device which looks like the warhead, but
- 4:01Speaker 2: it is not. It's a gun. It fires a seven
- 4:04Speaker 2: to sixty by thirty nine millimeters round. They put it
- 4:06Speaker 2: on each gun, I'm sorry, on each RPG and pulled
- 4:09Speaker 2: the trigger and then fired one round. This thing will
- 4:12Speaker 2: fire around whether or not it's in a tube, in
- 4:15Speaker 2: an RPG regardless. I mean, it's just incredible the lengths
- 4:19Speaker 2: they went through to convict this guy. I mean, Patrick
- 4:23Speaker 2: knew these RPGs were were one hundred percent legal. I mean,
- 4:27Speaker 2: people would go over to his home and pose with
- 4:29Speaker 2: them in photos that they'd put it online. If you
- 4:33Speaker 2: want one right now, you can buy them online. They're
- 4:36Speaker 2: about one hundred and ten to three hundred and fifty
- 4:38Speaker 2: dollars the same thing he's in prison for. I just
- 4:43Speaker 2: don't get it.
- 4:47Speaker 1: To buttress what Lee Williams was just saying about, because
- 4:50Speaker 1: some of you are like, really an RPG, Just pop
- 4:54Speaker 1: the question up in any AI answering service that's out there,
- 5:00Speaker 1: for example, if you google this, is it legal to
- 5:03Speaker 1: buy a RPG? Yes, in the United States, it is
- 5:06Speaker 1: legal to own a deactivated RPG, and it tells you
- 5:11Speaker 1: the guidelines and then you can look and you will
- 5:14Speaker 1: find them on sale all over the place. Lee, how
- 5:19Speaker 1: is it possible that a judge even allowed this conviction
- 5:23Speaker 1: and this type of evidence to be entered into the
- 5:27Speaker 1: court case.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Well, Boddell is the one who's responsible for that. This
- 5:33Speaker 2: was the first time he'd ever testified ever, he'd been
- 5:36Speaker 2: with ATF for about two years, and he just laid
- 5:39Speaker 2: it on so thick. And the judge turns out, was
- 5:43Speaker 2: pretty anti gun, and the jury unfortunately went along with them.
- 5:49Speaker 2: They're talking about air guns as if they're during the trial,
- 5:53Speaker 2: they were talking about airguns as if they were real rifles.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I mean, if you look at what this guy did,
- 5:58Speaker 2: he took a toy stendh and buy it's a submachine gun.
- 6:02Speaker 2: The one he had was a toy, and he made
- 6:05Speaker 2: it fire a couple of rounds by using a real
- 6:07Speaker 2: sten barrel and a real stand receiver, got it to
- 6:10Speaker 2: fire one round. Up, it's a submachine gun. I mean,
- 6:13Speaker 2: this was absolutely crazy. The crap that this guy did.
- 6:18Speaker 2: They wanted, they wanted to put Patrick in prison, and
- 6:24Speaker 2: that's what they did, and you know, Bodell was just
- 6:27Speaker 2: a way to do it. I mean, it's crazy. I
- 6:31Speaker 2: spoke to a former ATF officer, a senior ATF officer,
- 6:35Speaker 2: he's in the story, uh, mister O'Kelly, and he just
- 6:39Speaker 2: went off on what they were allowing, because you know,
- 6:46Speaker 2: a court should be all about the truth and quite frankly,
- 6:49Speaker 2: everything that they they charged this guy with they he had.
- 6:53Speaker 2: He had flats, which are flat pieces of metal that
- 6:57Speaker 2: are cut out and they they take a lot of
- 7:00Speaker 2: work to make them into a firearm. He had nine
- 7:03Speaker 2: hundred and seventy seven of them, and thank god mister
- 7:06Speaker 2: Kelly was able to get them. The judge to see that, hey,
- 7:10Speaker 2: they're just flat piece of metal. They're not machine guns
- 7:12Speaker 2: as they were charged. Otherwise Patrick would be in prison
- 7:15Speaker 2: for thirty years as opposed to twenty. I mean, the
- 7:18Speaker 2: excesses the craft that went on during this trial is legendary.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I've been through every firearm that he supposedly owned, and
- 7:27Speaker 2: not one of them is illegal. Man, and he's doing
- 7:30Speaker 2: twenty years.
- 7:33Speaker 1: What is the status of any appeal that's going on here?
- 7:40Speaker 2: He has an attorney filed they filed appeals. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 2: appeals are very time consuming. It's like Patrick said the
- 7:50Speaker 2: other day when I spoke to him, It's like he
- 7:52Speaker 2: feels like he goes to court once a year or
- 7:55Speaker 2: once every six months on these appeals. It could happen.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I would prefer a pardon. I think he's more eligible
- 8:03Speaker 2: for a pardon. Keep in mind, this is a kid
- 8:06Speaker 2: who would if he TF had left him alone, right,
- 8:10Speaker 2: now he'd be leaving a seal platoon. He was accepted
- 8:15Speaker 2: as an officer as he was an E six and
- 8:17Speaker 2: they were going to make him an officer in the
- 8:18Speaker 2: Navy and send him to seal School where he would
- 8:21Speaker 2: have excelled and would have gotten his trident. But he
- 8:25Speaker 2: never got that opportunity, and that to me, I mean,
- 8:28Speaker 2: if you know anything about seal school or any kind
- 8:30Speaker 2: of special operations, the number of slots available for active
- 8:33Speaker 2: duty E sixes is not a lot, and he would have,
- 8:39Speaker 2: especially at the officer level, he would have done very well.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Lee Williams has documented all of the abuses by the
- 8:51Speaker 1: ATF that we know of. There are likely hundreds, if
- 8:55Speaker 1: not thousands of abuses we don't know of, and the
- 8:59Speaker 1: need to raise in if not just outright abolish the agency,
- 9:03Speaker 1: which would be probably the preference that we have. Lee.
- 9:07Speaker 1: There is some good news coming out though, relative to
- 9:10Speaker 1: the Second Amendment Supreme Court dealing with a Minnesota appeal.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Tell us about that.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah. On Monday, the Supreme Court said that they don't
- 9:17Speaker 2: want to take the case involving this debate about age
- 9:22Speaker 2: restriction for weapons despite Minnesota, as please, which we're huge
- 9:28Speaker 2: and the gun rights groups, you know, like the Second
- 9:30Speaker 2: Amendment Fundation where I work, that successfully challenged Minnesota's age
- 9:34Speaker 2: limit on carrying hanyans. What this means, well, eighteen to
- 9:38Speaker 2: twenty year olds should be allowed to carry. I know
- 9:43Speaker 2: the Supreme Court looked at this landmark twenty twenty two ruling,
- 9:48Speaker 2: which they probably just agreed to let stand. So eighteen
- 9:51Speaker 2: to twenty year olds. These things don't happen overnight. We'll
- 9:56Speaker 2: be able to carry firearms hopefully soon. And that's a
- 10:01Speaker 2: major wind. When I say carry, I've been concealed.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Neighboring state Iowa, It's Governor Kim Reynolds just signed some
- 10:09Speaker 1: legislation that's related.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yeah, And people that understand the firearms and the carry
- 10:17Speaker 2: of firearms. I mean I was eighteen when I was
- 10:20Speaker 2: carrying a firearm. It was in m sixteen. I was
- 10:22Speaker 2: in the army. There's nothing wrong with an adult, an
- 10:28Speaker 2: eighteen year old adult, carrying a firearm for self defense
- 10:32Speaker 2: and protection. Absolutely nothing in the world wrong with that whatsoever.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yet these states just want to want to keep it,
- 10:40Speaker 2: you know, in a box until you're twenty one, and
- 10:44Speaker 2: then that to be that's crazy. We able to vote,
- 10:48Speaker 2: you're able to do everything when you're eighteen.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Closer to home in our state where you and I
- 10:52Speaker 1: both live, we saw the story unfold right down the
- 10:56Speaker 1: street from US at Florida State University, and once again,
- 11:00Speaker 1: or to Senate Democrats are killing legislation that would allow
- 11:04Speaker 1: students and faculty to carry on campus. Give me your
- 11:08Speaker 1: thoughts on all that.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It was horrible. My heart goes out to the Morale
- 11:17Speaker 2: mister Morales, Robert Morales, and Trushaba families. I think this kid.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I don't want to use his name, thank you, and took.
- 11:27Speaker 2: His mother's firearm. He's still in the hospital recovering from
- 11:31Speaker 2: a gunshot wound that Debies gave him to the face.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I wish they would have added a couple more rounds.
- 11:35Speaker 2: We wouldn't have to worry about court. But yeah, it happens, unfortunately.
- 11:42Speaker 2: And if you look at some of the photos of
- 11:44Speaker 2: the marches, you will see all of the groups there
- 11:47Speaker 2: that don't want to take away our rights to keep
- 11:53Speaker 2: in bare arms.
- 11:54Speaker 1: And that's the sad thing is that we have. It's
- 11:57Speaker 1: we have these loud voices and they missed the most
- 12:00Speaker 1: and that is that over and over again, Lee people
- 12:04Speaker 1: that are armed and are carrying legally are prevented, and
- 12:08Speaker 1: the people that are not allowed and shouldn't be carrying
- 12:13Speaker 1: do any way, and they ignore the laws, they ignore
- 12:15Speaker 1: the signs, they ignore the policies, and they shoot and
- 12:17Speaker 1: kill people and we can do nothing to stop them.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Thank you. That's exactly the case. And that's the case
- 12:25Speaker 2: that we have here too. It's sad they they protests.
- 12:30Speaker 2: They think, you know, it's it's a gun issue. No,
- 12:34Speaker 2: I mean, this is not a gun issue. This is
- 12:35Speaker 2: a really mixed up kid. And unfortunately he took his
- 12:39Speaker 2: mother's weapons, which he would have done. I don't care
- 12:41Speaker 2: what his.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Aid was, he'd have found guns. He wanted to commit
- 12:45Speaker 1: the crime exactly. Well, sadly, you know, it's almost like
- 12:51Speaker 1: I feel like there needs to be almost like a
- 12:53Speaker 1: faux movement to ban cars, trucks, SUVs, fertilizers, timers, baseball bats, bricks, bats, glass,
- 13:01Speaker 1: anything heavy, anything that looks mean that we need to
- 13:05Speaker 1: ban all of these things, because after all, they can
- 13:07Speaker 1: be used to hurt people.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Totally, they totally can. But you know, there's enough gun
- 13:13Speaker 2: laws out there, there's enough people out there who are
- 13:17Speaker 2: right in the head as opposed to this kid, and
- 13:19Speaker 2: I wish somebody would have been armed and would have
- 13:21Speaker 2: put this guy down.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, And they were fortunate that there were
- 13:27Speaker 1: some actual, you know, tactical training going on nearby that
- 13:32Speaker 1: allowed them to respond. And now we know that the
- 13:35Speaker 1: young man was casing another state college nearby before he
- 13:39Speaker 1: ended up picking Florida State University, Lee and closing, what
- 13:43Speaker 1: cases or case are you looking at right now following
- 13:46Speaker 1: that you think is consequential?
- 13:49Speaker 2: I'm I wish I had a better answer. I am
- 13:53Speaker 2: on the domnianc case right now so hard and heavy.
- 13:58Speaker 2: We're trying to get him out of prison.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Fair enough.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I talked to him ten times a week, and this kid,
- 14:06Speaker 2: I've never had a source like him in my life
- 14:09Speaker 2: and I've been doing journalism for twenty five years. This
- 14:13Speaker 2: kid does not belong in prison. He's an inn a
- 14:15Speaker 2: sip man.
- 14:17Speaker 1: You should be a hero right now serving our country
- 14:19Speaker 1: as a Navy seal.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Absolutely one hundred percent. And he's going to try and
- 14:23Speaker 2: get in the Navy if you can get out soon, Lee.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Thank you, keep up the good work and just encourage
- 14:29Speaker 1: Tate that there's some people out here trying hard.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Perfect.
