- 0:00Speaker 1: Time out for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic. We're here with doctor Harley.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hello, doctor Harley, Hey John.
- 0:06Speaker 1: It's kind of fun to think about summer will be
- 0:08Speaker 1: here soon, because like we've had nice weather and then
- 0:10Speaker 1: it feels like summery, but before you know what, school
- 0:13Speaker 1: is going to be out and where we have these
- 0:14Speaker 1: kiddo's like running wild all summer, and it doesn't feel
- 0:17Speaker 1: like we're ready for that, doesn't.
- 0:18Speaker 2: It's kind of amazing how fast this school year goes by.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I know for parents out there probably thinking, oh my gosh,
- 0:23Speaker 2: I can't come soon enough, or maybe they're dreading the
- 0:26Speaker 2: summer because they don't know what to do with their kids,
- 0:28Speaker 2: or it's been a rough school year. You know, we've
- 0:30Speaker 2: been talking a lot about kids and kids' health this
- 0:33Speaker 2: whole month. A lot of people have probably you know,
- 0:34Speaker 2: still been thinking why, you know, why would I see
- 0:38Speaker 2: a chiropractor for my kids or why would my kids
- 0:39Speaker 2: go to a chiropractor?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Right, but this is a good time for them to
- 0:43Speaker 1: get a good start in life, a good start when
- 0:46Speaker 1: it comes to the proper health decisions, and this would
- 0:50Speaker 1: be a great time for them to see a chiropractor,
- 0:51Speaker 1: And there's a lot of different reasons, right.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, especially summertime, it's I think we tend to see
- 0:56Speaker 2: more of an uptick in getting kids started, just because
- 0:58Speaker 2: you have a lot more time, you're not dealing with
- 1:00Speaker 2: the school schedule and after school and our schedule, and
- 1:03Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot more opening to that time
- 1:06Speaker 2: of year.
- 1:07Speaker 1: And if somebody listening has kiddos, like any age really
- 1:10Speaker 1: is the right age, because you were saying you've had
- 1:14Speaker 1: babies that are like hours old all the way up
- 1:16Speaker 1: to people that are, you know, octogenarians, I think is
- 1:18Speaker 1: that maybe it's even older now, but any age. But
- 1:21Speaker 1: if they've got kiddos, they're gonna be home this summer,
- 1:23Speaker 1: this would be the time to start thinking about.
- 1:24Speaker 2: It, wouldn't I Yeah, And we've been talking about some
- 1:27Speaker 2: of the specific things, but in general, chiropractic is really
- 1:31Speaker 2: great for kids. Is helping kids grow into happier, healthier teenagers, happier,
- 1:36Speaker 2: healthier adults. You know, we always like it's all, well,
- 1:39Speaker 2: they don't have anything going on, they don't have stress.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I mean, school's pretty stressful. Oh yeah, we have physical stressors,
- 1:45Speaker 2: you know, slips, falls on the playground, I was just
- 1:47Speaker 2: talking with a patient earlier today that their grandson broke
- 1:50Speaker 2: his wrist last week and he's like seven or eight,
- 1:54Speaker 2: and there's four kids in his class that have broken
- 1:57Speaker 2: wrists all at the same time.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Wow, So they might have something wrong on their playground.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I mean, you're just kids play hard, and they slip
- 2:04Speaker 2: and they fall, they're knocking into things. So even just
- 2:07Speaker 2: from that aspect, it's important to get them checked to
- 2:10Speaker 2: make sure that everything's moving like it's supposed to, that
- 2:13Speaker 2: their you know, their spine is developing, we're having nice,
- 2:16Speaker 2: good curvatures. We don't want those leaning postures or that
- 2:20Speaker 2: text neck that we see is really comic. Kids are
- 2:23Speaker 2: on their cellphones. When when's the last time you watched
- 2:25Speaker 2: your kid play on their tablet or cell phone? They're
- 2:27Speaker 2: looking like straight down their necks like a ninety degree angle.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and then that that can start adding posture problems.
- 2:34Speaker 1: But we can also add to issues throughout the body
- 2:37Speaker 1: because you have that little kinked in the neck that
- 2:39Speaker 1: now my brain's not connecting with my feet and all
- 2:42Speaker 1: my other things, right.
- 2:43Speaker 2: You know, Let alone just the aches and pains of
- 2:45Speaker 2: that that's really going to affect how the spinal cord
- 2:48Speaker 2: and the messages from the brain to the body are communicating,
- 2:51Speaker 2: so we can start seeing more you know, hyper sensitivity.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And we've talked about eighties, so we've talked about autism
- 2:57Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. But even just you know your
- 2:58Speaker 2: quote unquote kids at I don't have that, they can
- 3:01Speaker 2: still get over stimulated really easily because their nervous system
- 3:04Speaker 2: is all sorts of overworking and working too hard and
- 3:08Speaker 2: causing more issues that way.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So if somebody listening is going, Okay, I've got kiddos
- 3:14Speaker 1: or grand kiddos that are going to be off from
- 3:17Speaker 1: school in the summer here soon, and they want to
- 3:19Speaker 1: start planning. How far in advance should they start planning.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Do they call now to get something on the books,
- 3:23Speaker 1: or do they wait right up until it's time, or
- 3:25Speaker 1: what's the best way to get that whole process started.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I mean really anytime, you know, we're not usually too
- 3:30Speaker 2: far booked out, so it's pretty easy to get in
- 3:32Speaker 2: the same week, as long as it's not like a
- 3:34Speaker 2: Thursday and you're asking for Thursday afternoon.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Right, I'm calling now, dot, can I see in two
- 3:38Speaker 1: minutes I'm in the parking lot.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe maybe give us a little bit more heads up,
- 3:42Speaker 2: but usually within a week we can get people in.
- 3:44Speaker 2: So I mean, if you're definitely looking at planning for
- 3:46Speaker 2: summer stuff, for sure, you can start scheduling now for
- 3:49Speaker 2: after school, or you can even get them in now
- 3:52Speaker 2: to start things before the end of the school year,
- 3:54Speaker 2: can of whatever works for people's schedule.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Very nice, And what is the best way to connect
- 3:57Speaker 1: with you here at Bounce Life careropractical?
