- Jason: Welcome back to another episode of Scrambling Dads Podcast. you notice that it is just two of us flying here tonight. Alex is waylaid with some kind of stomach bug, long day of work, all the things as part of being a scrambling dad's lifestyle, I guess we're all dealing Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: with. I think it's now two episodes in a row that we are just a pair versus all three of us being on. So Hopefully this week we can get on all three of us, talk about some of your adventures that you guys have had recently and see what the next sequence will be. Marcus: Yeah, in in true essence of scrambling dads, we were kind of scrambling to see what we were gonna get on and talk about and and you know told told Alex to take a little break here that we got it. We can hold the fort. So Jason: Yeah. We can hold this down. It may not be the long, super extensive podcast, but we have some some topics to talk about. Hopefully maybe things will kind of like spur the moment, kind of take us off tangent and keep us going as it always does. I always just relate this show to Seinfeld. Did you ever watch Seinfeld or know parts of it or seen parts of it? Marcus: I've seen parts of it. I wasn't a true Seinfeldian. Jason: before your time. No, Marcus: Yeah a little bit before my time, yeah I guess. Jason: it's funny because I feel like the show is like that. It's literally their whole thing stick in their sitcom is it's a show about nothing. And I've told Alex this like literally we Marcus: But everyone always tunes in. Jason: get everybody tuning in and we just have random just left field topics and things of just like, hey, what's going on? Okay. All right. Okay. Then next episode completely different. There's no continuous track of anything going on. Marcus: No, this isn't a series that you binge watch. You just tune into an episode. It's Jason: No. Marcus: kinda like a family guy, I guess. It's whatever. It doesn't it doesn't even matter. Jason: Yeah. Yeah. I mean you can binge us if you want. I mean we only got like four episodes out there on YouTube, so go for it. Marcus: Yeah. So where where have you been? Where in the world has Jason been this time? Jason: Yeah. It feels like yeah, we're always on some kind of adventures, it seems like. so fall break hit for us, and typically it's well I won't say typically, it's only been one year where it's like, you guys get a week off, and so we made a vacation plan. Marcus: You get a week off? Jason: Well, we thought we did. Marcus: what do we thought we did? Jason: So this all started. so last year they I guess school districts now, that's the new thing. Here's a fall break. some school districts do a week off. Ours did it last year. And we're like, wow. But a couple of those days we had to report back for teacher and service. But districts still are now, I think Frisco or Allen or somebody is still a week off for the kids. I don't know about the teaching stuff. So, anyways, we're like, ooh, okay, week off. So we're anticipating maybe next year it'll be a week off again. So we go to the marine jar J R O T C ball to help kind of support We got some kids in it, and Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: I enter a raffle that I won for a week vacation in someone's house or at someone's house in South Lake Tahoe. Marcus: That's cool. Jason: Yeah. So the only blackout date is I think mid December to mid January when they go up and do an annual ski trip at Christmas there. I'm like, fine, no problem. Marcus: Yeah. Cool. Jason: And then we sat there, we're like, okay, we haven't been in Tahoe in two years. Cause that the last time we were there was for my brother's wedding, which I officiated, Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: which was kind of neat. and we're like, Okay, we got it. I want it, which was like a total shock. And then as the this was last November and we just went. So it's been almost a year that we've been sitting on this price. And then we're like sit there like, okay, well, when do we want to go? I don't know. Well that we thought about the summer. We're like, well, we have our big trip to Italy. We don't want to compound it like trip to trip trip. Like, Marcus: Yeah. Jason: ooh, let's do the fall. The weather's better, good or the week. There's no crazy weekend traffic. So it worked out perfectly. We had sacrifice a few days, but it was nice. didn't get to spend the full week, 'cause we split it between visiting my family in Sacramento. Then we went up for a few days, which actually was still perfect, with miles still not being able to have full go and do a lot of things. It was a good two and a half, three days of just low key playing at the park, played a little putt-putt golf, walked around. so it was fun. nice cool weather, obviously. Really cold. like the thirties when we woke up in the morning. Yeah. Marcus: Yeah, comparatively, yeah, to hear. Jason: Compared like so when we left, it was like ninety. We get there, it's like high of sixty. Like, that's nice. But it was great. Love being out there. Marcus: Well, I think you brought some of that cold weather with you. Jason: That's what we said, like, hey, let's bring this chilly air or 'cause Marcus: Yeah. Jason: we need it. It was it was fun. I mean, Tahoe was was a stomping ground of mine for years, I think. elementary school, middle school, high school, it was we had an annual trip. My parents had a timeshare. So it was like nostalgic for me to go up there. Now been there with the girls a couple times and then going up there with Miles, playing the same peewee golf course that I play when I was about Marcus: Yeah. Jason: eight years old when I started. And it hasn't changed. Like maybe a new paint job, maybe like a few other things, but same broken areas. abused props, you know. Marcus: mean those are the good trips though and you you remember, w when you the things that you did with the girls and now bringing moms over, so 'cause that'd be pretty cool. Yeah. Jason: Yeah, it was really cool. It was it was fun. Just my gosh, how I don't even know I do the years thirty, almost forty years. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: But it's still the same, except for obviously down by state line where it's just booming. So I was like, wow, this is crazy. This is insane. I've I'm back up here with my family and a little one. Marcus: Yeah. Now I I've never been to Lake Tahoe. I've been to Reno, but it's not the same. It's Jason: Mm, okay. No. Marcus: close enough. Yeah. Jason: It's pretty close, but that's where we flew out of. So Reno's only about an hour from South Lake Marcus: Okay. Yeah. Jason: Tahoe. but the water is gorgeous. We went up to Emerald Bay, got a great picture of just a landscape shot of it. And we didn't get to go hike down to an old Viking castle, but it was still really cool. just to be up there topside and just viewing everything. Just the lake. I mean, the lake is just gorgeous. So if you ever get a chance to get there. Definitely do it. Marcus: Yeah, that that's definitely on the bucket list 'cause yeah, I don't know, for work we would we'd go to Reno all the time and Tahoe was there, Jason: easy. Marcus: but yeah, so well back then, now I'd now Jason: okay. Marcus: it's actually, have to plan it, but it always looked like a cool spot. I I I don't I'm not much of a skier or snowboarder. I've not not much into any kind of winter Jason: Mm. Marcus: sports, so I'd probably be the summer for me. Yeah. Yeah. Jason: Summer. Get out on a jet ski. you can rent a boat, you know, hike, horseback ride if you're into that kind of stuff. just kind of enjoy it. couple of nights we had some coyotes singing to us. We're trying to go to sleep. I need to see them yipping in the background, like, here we go. And then, of course, Shelby had a major fear of bear coming up to us and trying to break in and rip out the garbage or open up the car. And so she went on a weird tangent of freaking out about Marcus: Hmm. Jason: the bears because I guess there's lately a new insurgents, I guess, of bears just Marcus: Yeah. Jason: walking around town, just Hey, how you doing? Marcus: Really? geez. Jason: Yeah, they're very domesticated, what the locals say. But I don't know about you. It's like if I'm sitting on the street and I see a bear, I'm like, I'm going the other way. Yeah. Marcus: Now yeah. I'm going inside. Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm not not hanging around to check what his name is or anything. I'm I'm bouncing out of there. Smoky? Yeah, no. No, I'm gone. Jason: Yeah. Hey hey Smokey? Is that you? Marcus: so you do you enjoy Tahoe more summer or or winter? Since you've Jason: I I've done both. Marcus: Yeah, you've done both. Yeah. Jason: Yeah. Growing up out that way. it just depends. I I used to be a big skier snowboarder. Now I still shel be. I don't know if my body can handle it. I take one fall, even on a bunny hill, it's probably gonna hurt. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: But I've gone up I've done both. It's it's just incredible, especially when you get up topside, like on Heavenly in the snow, everything's all Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: covered in it and then you just see this lake just still in gorgeous blue. and then it's just obviously heavenly. You can't beat heavenly. but I've been all around it. Yeah. Marcus: Yeah. That's such a cool yeah, that's cool. Just going down a mountain and seeing a lake. It's kinda trippy, I bet. Jason: Yeah. It's it's incredible. it's just a fun ride getting up there. but I think most of my memories have all just been summer. So I've been more of a summer person Marcus: Right. Jason: up there. I've done the horseback riding years ago. ATV. That's a fun one. I've done that a couple of times. Marcus: So a lot of trails out there. Jason: yeah. So you just drive off to I th my favorite was On the west side of the lake. I think it's called Rubicon trail or something. So we drove to the west side of the lake and Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: you get in and you drive your own ATV. And man, we were crawling up boulders that were like three or four feet high, like straight boulder, and you're just like branching up. So that would be fun to do again. And then I think it's Johnson City or Virginia City. Those are close by because I know Reno's not far from it. So You go to there, and there's also A TV tours there, which is more of dirt, desert kind of Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: riding. And then you just go through areas and they take you to some old ghost towns, old graveyards, things like that from the old west, the old silver mines. so that was really cool. So I've Marcus: Yeah. Jason: done that in the past. so it's all been really fun. I do enjoy it. like I said, the peewee golf, we were there all the time as kids. Marcus: What is the peewee golf? Is it just the putt putt or is it like a smaller kind of pitch and putt course? Just putt putt? okay, okay. The windmill, yeah. Jason: it's just put it's just putt putt with all the gimmicky like like st things that you have to get the ball into that right hole, the windmill to fall down into the proper hole and all that fun stuff. Marcus: Okay. Jason: And of course it's like a hard rubber ball hits and bounces everywhere, so you can't even gauge it. Can't even read the break, just hit it towards the hole. Get Marcus: Yeah. Just get it somewhere. Get it close. Yeah. Jason: it close and if it falls, it falls. Marcus: Lag putting all day. Jason: it is. Literally with a lucky fallen from, like I said, the the the random little hole that you get it into. Marcus: Nice. Yeah, family's been big Jason: yeah. It's been good. Marcus: into putt putt here recently. They're on their so we had yeah that Columbus Day weekend. I had to go to Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: work, but my daughter, she you know, she's four, five, four. She's four. Just four. Well, so Jason: Which one is it? Four or five. Marcus: I also had this 'cause me and me and Alex you know we went hunting this you know last week and I won't do any other recap, but I was very adamant that Addy was five. And so I had told Alex, yeah, she's five. Guaranteed. Book it. She's five. And then she goes, then she's the same age as Bella. I was like, I guess so. I don't know. Probably. And so he gets home and then he's telling Casey that that Addy is five. And then Casey's adamant, no, she's four. And so then he texts me back, he's like, Are you sure Addie isn't four? I was like, at that same time, Blake comes up to me and she just like yells at me. She's like, Your daughter is four. It's like, what did you tell Alex? I was like, I don't know. It's like she's old enough to do whatever she wants. I'm just, I'm just here. And and also, you know, found out in the deer blind that Marcus was in second grade. I thought he was in first. So I'm not ruining anything there. But that was stuff that that we had talked about. Anyways, she is four. She is four. and she is very very into mini golf right now. and Jason: Nice. Marcus: so like on that little fall break, she kept asking like Blake, she's like, can't can we go mini golf? Can we go mini golf? And so they went. She was terrible. Like just terrible. It just you know, it ended up I mean my wife Blake just beaten him and Marcus was he's he's getting competitive now too and so he didn't like losing and yeah, it was just yeah, now now they said, well next time dad needs to go and we're gonna be on dad's team. So now it's gonna be a three on one, I guess. So I think it should be the other way around, but whatever. I'll take a free stroke. Jason: Where where do they go? Marcus: they went to Alley Cats. It's over here in in Burleson. Jason: okay. Marcus: Kinda near us, yeah. So wish they have like bowling and like laser tags, so a little bit of everything. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, batting cages and all Jason: okay. It's one of those full like facility places. Yeah, I'm trying to think. Marcus: that. Jason: I know there's is Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: it called the puttery? I think in grape not grapevine, Grantscape. It's the twenty one and older putting. But I think Marcus: yeah. And they have that Tiger Woods one too. Jason: they have the pop stroke, which I've never been. but I know the puttery, I think kids You can get under twenty one can get in until I think seven or eight PM. After that, then it's twenty one and older only. The Tiger Woods, is that a are those pop strokes, is it just a straight putt or is it actually a chip in a putt? Marcus: No, it it is a straight putt, but they have like three Jason: Okay. Marcus: courses out there. they have so many undulations. it is it's it's it's pretty tricky. There's no Jason: wow. Marcus: no yeah, it's not like gimmicky or anything, but it's like there's the I mean every putt has a break. Every putt. There's nothing straight. Jason: Wow. Marcus: So it's pretty good. Jason: do you use your own ball or do they give you an actual real golf ball or and it's not those fake rubbery ones from the old school Marcus: No, they they give you I think it's Tailor made or Callaway, it's one of them, but it has Jason: not surprisingly. Marcus: yeah, it has the it has it's a white ball but it has the pop stroke logo on it and then the pop stroke logo is just different colors. So it can be a blue, Jason: Okay. Marcus: a green, and a red, but you keep the ball after you play. So that's pretty pretty cool. So Jason: okay. I assume you can bring your own putter if you want, but they have putters. Marcus: I yeah. They have putters there, but I would bring yeah. For that course only. Yeah, I would I would bring the gamer. Jason: Bring your bring your gamer. Marcus: Yeah. Bring the gamer. Bring your broomstick. Yeah. Jason: Yeah, I was gonna say I'll go get my broomstick. I'm out there looking like an idiot. He's got a friggin' broomstick on Tiger with Popstroke course. Marcus: No. that'd be so good. You would go viral on that if you take your broomstick out to a pupfoot course. yeah. Maybe we all Jason: There we go. There's an episode for us. I'll go get a broomsting just to go to Marcus: broomstick it, like 'cause I've never I've never used it, but that would be that'd Jason: okay. Marcus: be pretty cool. Jason: So we just need one broomstick putter 'cause we're all right handed and we go for it. Marcus: Yeah. Sounds like we can spend some of your money over there on that if you if you don't already have it. Jason: my gosh. no. okay. Yeah. Speaking of which I know this has been a conundrum for me. The that whole trade in value gift card. And I'm s I'm still sitting on it. Marcus: Hey, we talked about it last week and he Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Alex said that it was growth on your part. I said, Yeah, I would have spent that so fast. Jason: he said it was growth because I haven't Marcus: Yeah, that because you haven't, yeah. It's like this is a different side of Jason. Yeah. I was like, I guess. I was like, I would have already spent that thing. You're getting close? Jason: I mean, I'm getting close. I'm getting so close. I'm just like keep looking. It's like, do I, should I? I know I need to get a fitting. Marcus: What? Jason: No, I need to like focus on these certain things. Like, I'm racking my brain. Marcus: What is what is the one thing that you're close on? Is it one thing or is it a couple of things? Jason: Well, okay, so I had a couple items picked that were on sale, used, and I was like, ooh, I can get this and this all like things for the full amount. But then, you know, I trying to be patient, trying to be smart. Of course, they sold. So now I'm like, crap. Now only things they have Marcus: Yeah. Jason: that are worth purchasing are brand new sets of Marcus: Okay. Jason: whatever irons or wedges or so I'm like, don't need to do that. So just been floating on it. I'll check their website, see if there's anything new that pops up. Like, Marcus: Yeah. Jason: ooh, that could be interesting. But again, it's all brand new stuff. So I'm like, I don't know where to go. Like, I really don't. And a wedge fitting would be smart. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: But Marcus: But that's not what we're about. Jason: No, no, I gotta splurge. I gotta splurge, I gotta spend this like big. I gotta go big. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. What it Jason: And I'm like, Yeah. What was your qu Marcus: Y yeah, so what were you debating on? Like the the the ones that were on sale? Jason: so it was some titless T one fifties. Marcus: Okay. That'd be cool. Jason: So it is a it would be good. It's a great set. It is a little upgrade. For forgiveness, from what I'm using now for sure. So Marcus: Yeah. Jason: it's a slight upgrade on that end. And then obviously it's designed with a little bit more technology, so it'll give me a little bit more pop, a little more speed, but not overpowering because Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: I definitely know I don't want like that super overpowering shock. And I don't like the clubhead size of like the T fit two fifties, and I've hit those, I don't like the sound of them. So I'm just kinda like, ooh. Those would be good. There was one for 900 bucks. So that would have left me with almost 600 left over. Of course, I didn't jump on it, sold. And I was like, Marcus: Mm. Jason: and then I just haven't had time to go. So the problem is I'm getting impatient. And I don't have Marcus: Ha ha ha. Jason: time to go get a fit. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: And I really should. But at the same time, like this is Freaking man, I've got a hole in my pocket that's burning like bad with this. Yeah. So I'm Marcus: You can bend them. Yeah. Don't worry about that. Jason: like, ooh, those would be so great, maybe. And then I was like, no, let me wait. Let me wait. Let me see. Okay. So then I wait. And then Marcus: Yeah, I'm looking at Those are nice. Jason: so yeah, they are clean. And then they still have it. So I go with my current card value. Plus, of course, if I Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: get a new set, I would get rid of my bets. So I'd probably sell those or trade those in for more credit. And are you on Tilus website right now? Marcus: Yeah, I'm I'm just kinda looking. I didn't know they had oil can and the black ones. You're like, so that is cool. Jason: So Alex would be pissed because he wants a black set of irons. And I they have they have Marcus: The black ones look sleek. They're good. Jason: the T 150s in black and I could pretty much walk out of there with tr straight value, no money out of my pocket if I trade in my old set with that. Marcus: A pretty sick. Not gonna lie. Jason: So I'm sitting there like, do I pull the trigger? Do I do that? Because no one's gonna buy that set. And I have an ability. I have the I'm very fortunate that I do have that ability Marcus: Yeah. Jason: because of what I did. I just don't know if I can pull that trigger. Marcus: if they're nine hundred bucks or so, brand new, they're going for two Jason: Well the Marcus: grand. Jason: Yeah, so I was saying the black ones are two grand. So I Marcus: Yeah. Jason: got fifteen hundred plus I'm assuming I'll get close to five for my set. So it'll be a break even. Marcus: And those are nice. I don't hate it. Jason: then I don't have wedges. Marcus: Yeah, but you don't need wedges. 'Cause you're just gonna be putting it you're gonna be putting it so close you won't need a wedge. Yeah. Jason: No, I really don't. My f no. Yeah. No. No, I'm good. No. I mean, realistically, my fifty-eight right now, currently, has been great. Like, I've got that one dialed in pretty good. The only ones that are just still a little out, have kind of like outliers, is my gap and my sand for some reason. But I think that's more me Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: mechanically swinging instead of the actual clubs. So that's what I'm like. Well, I really don't know if I need a fitting just yet, if I could just fix myself more. And it's like, so then maybe I can get the black vapors. Marcus: Those are slic the oil cans look good too. They're bronze colorish. Those are nice. Jason: Yeah, they do. If they had 150s of those, I would be, I don't know. If they had a set of so the facility, the play the shop has the 250 and the 350 in oil can. They don't have the 150. They have the black vipers or black vapor. So I'm like, ooh, what do I do? What do I Marcus: Ooh, two fifteen oil can. That looks that looks pretty good. Pretty good. Jason: I I hey Marcus, you're all there. You get the two fifty oil can, I'll get the black vapors, we'll show up, shoot our new Christmas sweater video having these sticks. Marcus: I yeah, no. I Jason: Ha ha Marcus: you know what I'm I have my own dilemmas and problems. I don't say it's a dilemma, but I already bought y so I I did Jason: Yeah, okay, so we're where where are we at? What are we buying? Or what have you bought? Marcus: so I did finally pay Alex for the bet. the Jason: which pet was which one was that? Marcus: one where I wasn't gonna buy anything else, anything Jason: okay. Marcus: gun related, no scopes. Suppressors or firearms. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: And yeah, I finally paid that off. when when we went out. Yeah, yeah. Jason: That was just dinner, right? Yeah. Marcus: So it was I said, I said, yeah, I'm paying for this one. He's he's like, I'm not gonna let you. I said, I I owe you a dinner, Alex. He's like, yeah, that's right. So he just let me take the check after that. so yeah, I I bought a it's a bear gun, I guess. It is Jason: Okay. Marcus: In case I run into a bear, this this would stop it. Jason: So there you go. South Lake Tahoe is in the cards. Marcus: Boom. Yeah. And and I was talking to a couple I guess people from work, and they were like, you know you can go to Colorado and just put your name in for like a a mule deer tag. So you can go hunt mule deer out in the he's like he said real hunting, like just kind of go out, you know, for a couple days, see if you can get something. And he's like, and they have bear tags. that are over the counter. So you can get a mule deer and a bear at the same time. And I was like, well, why would you do that? And the guy Jason: Mm. Marcus: was telling me, he's all like, when you get your mule deer, you when you gut it, just leave it somewhere, leave the the the the guts and all that stuff somewhere, Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: and then go and you know get in a tree or whatever. He said the bears will come and try to get it. So that's how you bait him in and then you get your bear. Jason: You get a two for one. Marcus: Yeah, get a two for one. I was like, it's not a terrible idea. And then I told him what I had, he's like, you should Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: totally do that. He's like, go register for a Colorado tag, see if you can get it and get you a two for one. So Maybe, we'll see. But yeah, that's what I bought here recently because my birthday's coming up. I was like, you know what? Let's splur splurge a little. Jason: Hey, do it. Do it. Well, I mean, I have the gift card from this place, so I'll I'm gonna splurge on something. Not sure what yet, but I'm gonna spurge on something. Yeah. He would Marcus: Yeah. Those those black irons look good though. I'll tell you that. Yeah. Jason: he's gonna be like, Are you freaking kidding me? Did she did you go get fit for calling? I'm like, no. Like, like, nah. Yeah. We'll figure out a sh we'll figure out a shaft and loft and lie. We're fine. Marcus: No. We're gonna bend them later. Don't worry about it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we're fine. Jason: Cause I'm like, even before as the summer was closing, when I did hit my bets, I still even on that video, I was hitting them pretty decently, and I still my s it was more my swing, not the club. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: So I'm thinking, these are definitely more forgiving, more ball speed, better turf interaction. So I'm like, it is an upgrade without going overly huge for the 250 or 350 club head or something Marcus: Right. Yeah. Jason: like that. I'm like, why not? Marcus: So the one hundreds are too small then? Jason: Well, the one hundreds are lofted more towards like a pro. Marcus: Okay, gotcha. Jason: so I'm kinda like looking at I want a little bit more distance. then again, these aren't probably gonna give me like like when I say more distance, it's it'll be a more comfortable like one sixty-five, one seventy seven iron instead of me trying to pure my current seven iron to get that far. So this will give that additional little bump and forgiveness off center strike. And then of course, just being the technology behind it'll help get that launch and the numbers that are more fitting. the only issue would be is just is the shaft that comes stock gonna be right for me? And Marcus: yeah. Jason: so that would be something I would need to probably look into changing. maybe. But you know, a Marcus: Yeah. Jason: few hundred bucks on shafts is still much cheaper than buying the set brand new. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: So maybe a few hundred bucks out to customize these to my specs. Marcus: Yeah. sounds good to me. Yeah. yeah, that sounds great. Let's do it. But Jason: I don't know. We'll see. You're always my green green go go. Just do it. Marcus: think of how much cooler you would look on the golf course. Jason: the black irons would look so much cooler. it'll show up so much better in our videos that we barely do. Marcus: Yeah. What about the bag? I don't remember what bag you have. Do you have to get like a matching all black bag? Jason: No, I wouldn't do that. Marcus: No. Jason: Or should I do that? Marcus: 'Cause they're coming out with like those Jason: Should I get it all black? Marcus: I think Titalist makes an all black bag now. Jason: Well, I Alice and I both talked about it. It's if we get a new bag, we would probably get a vet well, he's always well, not always. I think it's only more recent. He's got a vessel golf bag, which he really loves. and I was like, ooh, I and I've seen the vessel bags and I really would want one. So I would probably upgrade to a vessel bag, but they do have I think vessel, you can get custom. Like I can get an all black vessel bag. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: That would be kinda c that that would be pretty clean. Or cho what should I do? A white bag, black heads with a white bag. Marcus: it's gonna get so dirty. It's just rattling around in the back of your car. It's gonna be so dirty. Jason: And then I think we would go get them and then get our Scrambling Dad's logo embroidered on it. And maybe Marcus: yeah. Jason: our name. I don't know. But at least the maybe our Scrambling Dad logo. Marcus: I feel like if you put your name on it and you don't absolutely pure your first drive, people are gonna look at you like, what are you doing? Yeah. Jason: poser. Yeah, I always feel that's like, dude, if if someone's got their name on their bag, they're probably they're probably pretty Marcus: Yeah. You you Jason: solid. Marcus: you're getting a couple birds, every Jason: Yeah. Marcus: every round. You're getting a couple birds for sure. Jason: Yeah. So I I would just put our logo, be hey, what's that for? just our podcast. Don't need to don't need my name. Marcus: Yeah. No. No. Yeah. Jason: Don't put my name on it. I'll put Alex's name on it. Marcus: Yeah. Just put on there, always be scrambling. Always be scrambling. Jason: Yeah, the always be scrambling. That's our new lo hey, there's our new slogan. C ball, hit ball, always be scrambling. Marcus: Always be scrambling. Yeah. Yeah. Jason: he still wants my he still wants me to get those pin high hats, which I still need to do. Marcus: Yeah. That's a that's a good what do you call it? Speaking into existence, I guess, slogan. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: It's all about perspective here. Jason: It is. It's all about perspective. man. Speaking of perspective and spending money, it seems like the live world doesn't want to spend money anymore with all their players and everything that's been going on. Marcus: No. It's so crazy how they shook it up when it first came out and now it's just it's going downhill fast. Jason: Yeah, I can't believe the what I mean it's just absurd. So actually one thing that we didn't touch on is Did Piff pull it because they were running out of money or they were just tired of paying for it? Marcus: think they were just tired of paying for it and that's when this the this new group came in to try to shake things up and sounds like a lot of a lot of what the current players don't like is that their previous contracts weren't Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: aren't gonna be I guess honored and instead they're gonna offer them equity into this new Live two point which if you're you're reading between the lines and and and players are saying no we want guaranteed money they they probably don't think it's gonna do too hot because it hasn't been doing well. So they don't want equity in a company that's gonna that's that's gonna lose money. is kind of the big the big picture of of what's going on here. Jason: I know it they just made such a huge push for it, all this publicity, all this money, and these guys ran for it, which part of me doesn't blame them, but part of me's also like like you got guys, you you're kind of greedy, and the ones that they pulled, a lot of the guys that they pulled were retirees, semi retirees, or guys who should Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: retire, or young guys who haven't proven themselves. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: And that was my whole shtick about it. It's like you took people who just who were like willing to take whatever money you were gonna throw at them. Marcus: Which was s Jason: And Marcus: I really it was stupid amount of money. Jason: Yeah, it was. at least for the big guys. I don't know about some of the smaller players, what they were invested in with it. I know Rom I think had the biggest deal, or Bryson did. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jason: even then I heard they're still owed money put potentially. but yeah, so speaking of which, because I was looking like, well, something kind of sparked in my head about what's going on. And according to the search, and I don't know how accurate the numbers are, but they said the original live system, Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: total operational losses since it started, five billion dollars. Marcus: Nice. With a Jason: five billion lost. Marcus: with a a bee is in bogey. Jason: Yes. Average monthly cash burn a hundred million approximately. Operation costs, prize money, current remaining assets a hundred to five hundred million. but golly, approximately five billion loss. no wonder they want to pay for that. I never watched it. Did you ever watch it? Marcus: I no, because I didn't even know where to turn it on. I think it was like on the CW. Like I didn't even Jason: yeah, yeah, okay. That does sound familiar. Marcus: Yeah, I like I didn't even know where to go watch it. It wasn't on ESPN, it wasn't on TNT or anything. Like if you wanted to watch it, you have to go searching for it and figure it out. Jason: Well, it's I'm trying to remember 'cause it's been four or five years since it started. Did those major networks did they not work a deal out or were they banning because of how it was all handled when they left? Marcus: I I would assume just because they already have their contracts with the PGA and and all that, they probably don't Jason: True. Marcus: wanna, get a little bad blood there is is my guess. But it was Jason: that makes sense. Marcus: it was hard to find it. I mean I didn't maybe it was on Fox, 'cause I don't think Fox shows any golf, maybe. Like maybe one major a year. It's usually on NBC or ABC Jason: Maybe Marcus: or C B S. Jason: Yeah, I think it's on one of the yeah, you're right. I think it is. so yeah, I can see that they just couldn't strike a deal 'cause they were like, Hey, we have BGA contract. But it's just insane looking at the integrity of that. It was I mean, even when it first came out, I'm sitting here going, You're only playing three rounds, you're not playing four, you're playing in shorts, which I'm like, I can live with the shorts because some of those tournaments are hot that they play. And I'm okay with shorts if they're still dressed professionally. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: but then they were like playing music. Little bit more loudly, Marcus: Yeah. Jason: a little bit more I would see it as a more polished, happy Gilmore. Marcus: Yeah, well, I mean it was pretty close to Happy Gomez 3, minus the you know, whatever what is it, the the operation that those those players went through. But yeah Jason: right. They're all like getting something like muscles like ripped out or taken out so they can have better recoil Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Jason: or something. Marcus: Yeah. But I don't know, they they tried to make it like I guess the that waste management put every single weekend, which Jason: Yes. Marcus: it's it I don't know. I I I can't see it happening. It's not golf isn't that, know. Jason: Yeah, it it wasn't stabilized enough. I it they couldn't get world ranking because they played only three rounds instead of four. Right. So Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: you're losing a round. the courses they played were definitely not set up like PJ standards for difficulty. you know, they're like, we play less times per year. I'm like, well, realistically, my understanding is the PJ players can all can sign up for as many events or as few events as they want. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: I think. I know Rory's been in trouble because he's I s played less or he's on the verge. So maybe there is a minimum they have to play on tour. That might be a thing to look up. See, is there a minimum number of events to play? But regardless, it's like these guys they jump on a plane, go to Asia, then they Jump on a plane, come back for two weeks, sit around, and then they go to Europe to play. So it was very big and world hopping. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: And I I don't know. It just I think the system just was not sound. Marcus: Yeah, it's fifteen event minimum Jason: Okay. Marcus: for for PGA. Jason: Wonder if that's always been there? Maybe it has. Marcus: Says that through twenty twenty seven. Jason: okay. Marcus: And it's been in place since twenty twenty four. At least. Mm-hmm. Jason: so it is fairly new. Hmm. Okay. Well, I think they did that because they want to ensure that they still got players to show up. Like I remember there was so many events that Tiger just like sat out for like two months at a time. He's like, nah, I'm good. I'm not playing that event. Marcus: Yeah. I'm playing the majors. I mean, that was part of Kepka. I mean he just showed up for majors. I mean, and he won Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah. So Marcus: a couple, but still like it's he just he's like, No, I don't wanna I don't wanna deal with you know s those smaller tournaments. I just wanna I just wanna play ball. Jason: Yeah, that's essentially it. But now with everything happening with Live, Brooks leaving and he took the PGA agreement, only one to do it, and he's enjoyed his time back. I mean, he's not winning like he was hoping to win, but he definitely missed I think I don't I guess the overall competitiveness and the structure of it, he definitely Marcus: Yeah. Jason: has missed versus over Live. but the big The big one is Rom declaring that he is just done. Marcus: Yeah. Which he was I I mean they yeah, they were I think they had some of their NIL or their name, image and likeness and I f it looks on here that he was three hundred he was owed a hundred million and he kinda just said, Hey, if I give my NIL stuff back I'll we're good. Don't you you don't owe me the hundred million is is what Jason: man. Marcus: I've been reading. So which is crazy. Jason: Yeah, so he rejected the terms. He's like you said, they came to a settlement. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: books we know left. Sergio, not that he's gonna be a big factor with on any tour, whether DP or PGA, Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: he straight up said, I'm not doing this. and then you got a few other names. I know Charles Howell the third, Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Adam Answer or A Abraham Answer. I Marcus: Abraham answer. Yep. Jason: don't know the other guys, but they all are out. But they are all going to the DP world, they're not coming back to PGA. That's huge. Marcus: Yeah, the only the only other thing that I don't even know you want to call it good because I haven't seen most of it, but the only other thing that came from this whole live tour is when they did the indoor golf league that came on on Monday nights. I don't even know if you watched it. That the t is it the Tiger League, the TGO? Yeah. Jason: the Yeah, the TGL. Yes. Marcus: That's the only thing that came from Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: it of like Essentially telling the PGA, hey, you need to do some other things than what you've been doing to grab the attention of of viewership here. Jason: Yeah, have a little bit more excitement, a little bit more Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Not res not reserved because the TGL guys are a little bit more like boisterous. They're having fun, they're talking, interacting Marcus: Yeah. Jason: with the fans. when they're out on tour, that's their job. I'm at work, I need to focus, I need to make need to make rent, I need to pay my mortgage. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: TGL is, yeah, I think just a fun way so they could still compete and have some kind of competitive, you know, angle, but make it fun. So Marcus: Yeah. Jason: if they're just not. out there obviously for huge prize money. 'Cause I don't I don't even know. Is there prize money in TGL? Maybe. Marcus: I think so, yeah. Jason: Okay. I don't I don't know all of it. I I watched the first season, didn't watch the second, or is this the second one? Is this the third one turn coming on soon? Marcus: Yeah, I think it's like the it's third yeah. Jason: I think it's the third one? Marcus: it's been on for a while. That's what I'm saying. at least, it it hasn't been great, but it it it changes it up, at least. Jason: Yeah. Well I know they've added teams. I think a female league is also coming into play. So Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: it's got plans to expand. Marcus: Yeah, so looks like it's a for first place the team payout is nine million dollars. Second Jason: okay. Marcus: place four point five, third two point two, and that's the team payout. So if it's a four man team, they you know split that up four ways. Jason: So it's mostly just bragging rights and fun. Marcus: yeah. But I mean you get for just doing that, I guess on the side, you get Essentially three hundred thousand dollars is the 'cause there's not that many teams on there. And they get ten percent equity stake in the league. So it could probably be a little bit more depending on sales Jason: Interesting. Marcus: and all that. Yeah. Jason: Huh. Did not know that. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: but yeah, I'd be curious if those guys who quit Live would be invited Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: to play TGL if their team or if they're any if they're even interested. Marcus: That would be I would watch that. Like because you can actually trash Jason: I think Brooks, yeah. Marcus: talk on there. Jason: I think Brooks is probably supposedly a a favored person to maybe join the next season. I Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: think. I don't know, Rom. I don't think Rom will. I think it's just not his style. At Marcus: Yeah. Jason: least I don't think it is. but yeah, Marcus: You put Jason: Liv is gonna be in trouble. Marcus: you put Brooks, you put Bryson, who's it? Fat Jason: Ha ha ha Marcus: Captain America, what's his name? Reed. Jason: Patrick Reed. Marcus: Yeah. Put him on there and then you can throw any other fourth one in there and then you just I mean that's the Jason: my gosh. Marcus: probably the most most hated. Jason: The most hated, most explosive. Marcus: Put Sergio Garcia in there too. Yeah. Yeah. yeah. That'd be good. Yeah. Jason: Yeah, there you go. That's a great team. my gosh, that would be hilarious. They call I don't even know, the Live Devils. I don't know. Marcus: Yeah. Lived it. Yeah. Yeah. Jason: Lived it Lived it failed. Marcus: Yeah. Jeez. That would be cool. Jason: But yeah, I yeah, I it'd be curious because I know the deadline is coming up where they have the players have to declare because I know DP gave them a ultimatum essentially, that they have to like, hey, you're either with us or you're not. You're none of this bouncing between the leagues like they've done. I know Bryson's still on the fence, but he can go YouTube. I Marcus: Yeah. Jason: I don't think Bryson's gonna stay at Live. I just Marcus: He doesn't need him. Jason: No, he doesn't need him. I just don't think he's gonna do it. Dustin Johnson got his money. He doesn't care. He's so laid back. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jason: Cam Smith and Terr Hatton are the only other big names that Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: are just Just I I don't think they're interested. I believe that they have come out and said that they're not looking forward to the new terms. But they also haven't said no either. There's only four players officially committed at this time, which I find that odd. I thought they had more committed. But I did look up where'd it go? Where to go? in order for Liv to maintain and secure a new season, Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: they need to have 50 to 70 players. Marcus: Yeah, by October twenty fifth, which is Jason: Right. Marcus: ne next week. Sunday, Sunday. Uh-huh. Jason: Satur Saturday, Sunday, right? Whew. So a lot is gonna be happening this week. I mean we may even want to discuss on it on by Friday, because most of Marcus: Yeah. Jason: these guys may already have answers. Marcus: Yeah. So here Cam Smith hasn't decided, but he looks more likely to stay. He's reportedly asked Liv to release him from the contract, and he is on the list of nineteen players whose contracts the court rejected. So I guess Jason: Wait. Marcus: they were putting contracts up to see who was gonna get paid out of them for it. Jason: So he still he was trying to still get paid out and then released? Okay. Marcus: Yeah. Uhhuh. I think it was just yeah, it's trying to get paid out. Jason: 'Cause Sergio didn't care. He just straight up, I think, just said, I'm done. that's what I think I read. He the where is it? Contract terminated via legal hearing in October. So I don't know what the terms were for Sergio, how he was able to get out. we know Braum. They settled on their terms because he was owed money and he's like, just give me my life back, pretty much. Marcus: Yeah, it was part of that was Smith, DeShambeaux, Johnson and Bubba Watson. I forgot Bubba Watson was there too. Jason: I thought he was getting deregulated. Or maybe not. Marcus: I don't know. He said they can negotiate with other tours or sign new Live two point zero deals. So Jason: so those are free agents. So they can do either. Marcus: Sounds yeah. Yeah. Jason: So it's Cam Smith and who else is? Marcus: So the nineteen players that they rejected contracts for was Bryson DeChambo, Dustin Johnson, Cam Smith, Harold Varner III, Lucas Herbert, Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Bova Watson, Ben Ann. Brendan Steel. Those are kind of the main ones that I've Main names that I recognize there. Jason: So what are they waiting for as a result? What's what Marcus: yeah, they can they can either get a new Live two point contract or they can try to sign a deal with PGA or whoever else. Essentially they're saying whatever old deals you had, they're out. go get your money somewhere else. Jason: So that's the hard part because PGA has so far said we're not accepting any of you guys back. I think he's the CEO has said we're not giving you an olive branch like we did to Brooks. So what does that mean for them? Like what's their path back? No, I don't know how DP world works. I don't know how these guys can leave, live, and just go to the DP tour. I don't Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: know. Their structure's set up differently, obviously, to allow them to just join. And then build up credibility again and then I guess they can make come back to the PGA tour if they want. Marcus: Yeah. But especially when we're going into twenty twenty eight, I guess, with that new relegation system. Yeah. Jason: Yeah, that new series. Marcus: Maybe th they just force them to work their way from the bottom and there's only so many spots, Jason: I I I could see that. I think they'll do DP for this next year, get the the flow back, I guess, get the credibility, build up some world ranking again, get the four day tournaments going, and then see how that falls into play with the other PGA regulate relegation as far as was it the signature series and the champion series? Marcus: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Jason: I could see that's where a lot of these cause when I looked at the list of the ones who left. All of are all DP world bound. Marcus: Mm. Jason: even Rom is DP World tour, Sergio, Pug, Pug, Answer, Hal, Peters, Ronk, Moronic, Ronk, they're all DP World. And I'm sure sure Terrell Hatton will beat D P world if he leaves. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Bryson, he may just take a year off and just to how come back out, play the majors that I'm exempt for, build up my credibility. Marcus: It's like I'm gonna I'm gonna go build or make hole in ones over my house for the next ten ten months. Yeah. Jason: Jeez. I know he just released a new video about that, right? Or something like that. Marcus: Yeah. It's like he's gonna do it again. Jason: no, no, no. Yeah, gosh. This is gonna be interesting how that all unfolds. I had a thought on my brain, I just like totally forgot I was gonna look something up and I lost my train of thought. What was I gonna look up? Yeah, I don't remember. It was something with the live and the PGA about them getting back into sequence. Marcus: Yeah. it's gonna be interesting. Yeah, I didn't I didn't think there was gonna be that much golf news, but this has just turned spicy. Jason: It's intense. this is gonna be big. it's either gonna be the collapse of Live or they'll stay afloat for maybe another year. Marcus: Yeah, but when they redo those contracts, who yeah, if they offer equity, I don't know how many players are gonna stay knowing that the way they did it before they were just losing so much, so we'll see. Jason: Yeah, it's yeah, the new BC partners, majority owned stakes, scaled down to less events, so they'll play way less than what they were already doing, Marcus: Mm. Jason: and then reduced purses. that's that's what I was gonna look up. So you could I mean, like I said, TGL was developed out of Live. I think it did do some good things for the PGA tour as far as restructuring their their events, their prize money. obviously coming with the regular re relegation two tier system. So sc I was looking, so Scotty, since Live started, has made a hundred and twenty-three million on the course. So obviously not what these guys were initially given a contract for. But again, you're only talking maybe DJ, Bryson, and Phil were given Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: that kind of and John, yeah, Ron Mellet were given that kind of upfront money. Every el everybody else, probably not. So definitely the prize money has jumped up and of course you just gotta work harder and just do it. That's crazy. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Well, we will find out come this week, maybe by Friday, we'll have Marcus: Yeah. Jason: your your guys' hunting adventures. that was this little teaser. So, you know, I'm on vacation and I just see this thing and I'm thinking to myself, why don't these two ding dongs just text themselves instead of this whole hunting story thread? And there's like 10 to 15, 20, 30 texts, and I'm like, What the hell is all this? Marcus: Like what does this even mean? Jason: I'm like, what? I'm like, trips going hunting. I'm like, okay, there's a picture of y you, I guess, in the blind or with the rifle, then there's some target practice. I'm like, what the heck? And then you guys are talking about butt stuff. Like Marcus: Ha ha ha Jason: So y that's what Marcus: Yeah. Jason: next episode's gonna be about. Marcus: Yeah. We yeah, we got tripped pretty good. A little teaser. Yeah. We were we were we were telling him yeah, you gotta do something to the deer and we were I said it has to do with his butt and he was just like I don't know what that all has to do. It's like it's not good So yeah, it's it was a good time. It was a good time with the boys and and all that but Yeah, we'll we'll talk about it next time when Alex is on. But it was it was yeah, those those boys were those boys are something else. I they didn't they didn't shut up. They Jason: Yeah. Marcus: were they were they were hilarious. They had their own jokes, they were Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: I mean, it was awesome. It was a good time. Jason: That's good. Can't wait to hear about it. Cause that's always fun having those those moments with the kids. All right. we're a golf kind of Marcus: Yeah. Jason: brand in a way. Like that's where our roots came from. But you know, it's everything encompassing that we do, right? Part of our life, part of our scrambling lifestyles, our passions that lead us into all of these different directions that we do enjoy with our kids, right? That's kind of what we're where we're at right now. Obviously you and I are not in a high competitive golf world. I know Alex may or may not still be trying to strive for that, depending on how things change over the next couple of months. but we still like to do our things, right? We still like to be passionate about anything Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: we do, have that family time, have that connection. So yeah, I can't wait to hear your adventures. maybe you have some good stories about shooting the deer and gutting them and skinning them and all that kind of fun stuff. Marcus: Yeah. It is yeah. Fun was had. And yeah, did a little manual labor too, so it was good. Had yeah. yeah. Yeah. It was good. Jason: Nice. Put some hair on your chest, boys. Become a man today. It was a instead of a bar mitzvah, it's like you're hunting and skinning. Marcus: Yeah, you're yeah, you're well yeah, we're we we did a little bit of work out there too, so yeah, they they got to see the not just sitting in a blind but actually working. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: so it was good. Yeah. Jason: Wow, can't wait. I'm excited. All right. I think that'll be good for tonight. Like I said, Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: kind of very impromptu. Just wanted to get on, keep our flow going. Nissya Alex, can't wait to have you jump back on Friday. new episodes will drop Wednesday mornings, six AM. Apple, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, all the major networks. So give us a comment, give us a like, subscribe. Look forward to hearing from you. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: All right. Good night, Marcus. Marcus: Se yeah.
