- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9.27 that we have an appointment with Jesus.
- 1:08John 4 tells us of the divine appointment that Jesus had with the woman at the well.
- 1:13But John 1.14 tells us that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us,
- 1:18revealing that Jesus is the Word.
- 1:21Please join us in this broadcast as Kim discusses the joys of meeting with Jesus
- 1:25and spending time with Him.
- 1:28Hello, and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries,
- 1:32and what a pleasure it is to spend the next few moments with you.
- 1:35And we're going to talk about something that I think that we just really don't
- 1:38become consciously aware of in our day-to-day lives, and that is the fact that
- 1:43we have an opportunity not only to spend time with Jesus,
- 1:47but to really have a meeting with Jesus.
- 1:51And we can do that at any time we choose. The Bible is very clear.
- 1:57And he tells us that we are to study to show ourselves approved unto God,
- 2:00a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
- 2:04And the Bible shows us in several instances where he, where Jesus came and he met with someone.
- 2:13And it's easy for us to read through the scriptures and understand that because
- 2:19he was present physically during that time.
- 2:22We're able to comprehend in our minds that in John chapter 4,
- 2:26when Jesus comes to the woman at the well, there was a face-to-face meeting.
- 2:30It's more difficult for us to realize that right now, at this very moment,
- 2:36we are in the presence of God and his son Jesus.
- 2:41And that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can feel his presence in our
- 2:46life. It's much more difficult for us to realize that we give up on a daily basis a date with Jesus.
- 2:55Because many of us do not spend time in his word. And many of us neglect to pray.
- 3:03Many of us neglect to actually comprehend and understand that Jesus is present in our day.
- 3:13We don't acknowledge him. Yet he tells us in the book of Hebrews that he would
- 3:17never leave us nor forsake us.
- 3:20As we go back and look at John chapter 4 again, thinking about the woman at
- 3:24the well, and we begin to see that Jesus said he must needs go there.
- 3:30You see, he went away specifically designed to place him in the path of that woman at the well.
- 3:39And when he comes to the well, tired and weary, he sits on the edge of the well, waiting for her to come.
- 3:48You see, that was a divine appointment.
- 3:51If you would, please, in your mind, just go forward a little bit to John chapter
- 3:5511. And in that particular scene, Mary and Martha are waiting for Jesus to come
- 4:02because their brother, Lazarus, has died.
- 4:07And by the time Jesus gets there, he's been dead four days.
- 4:12But what I want you to see is Jesus comes there and he speaks to them.
- 4:17We see further in the scriptures that Jesus went to Mary and Martha and Lazarus's
- 4:22house. And Mary and Martha were there tending to getting things ready.
- 4:28And one sat at his feet and one did a lot of work. One busied themselves and
- 4:33one truly enjoyed the presence of Jesus.
- 4:36And it's easy for us to get our minds wrapped around those accounts.
- 4:43Because we know that Jesus walked on the earth.
- 4:47What's far more difficult for us is for us to get our minds wrapped around the fact,
- 4:55that Jesus walks with us and talks with us.
- 4:59I think so many times that hymn writers are so blessed with a vision of understanding
- 5:08God in ways that I think others are not,
- 5:11because I believe they lend themselves to allow him to pour the Holy Spirit
- 5:14in them so that we can be blessed by their songs.
- 5:17And one particular song that comes to mind to me is In the Garden.
- 5:22And he says and he walks with me and he talks with me you see that is a true.
- 5:32Revelation of the scriptures because he
- 5:35says seek me and you shall find me
- 5:38he's not hidden and he says ask and you shall receive knock and it shall be
- 5:44opened unto you but i believe perhaps One of the most beautiful invitations
- 5:50that we find in Scripture comes in Revelations 3.20.
- 5:56When Jesus says, Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
- 6:00If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come into him and will sup with him and he with me.
- 6:08This word sup is an interesting word. It's a word that helps us and gives us
- 6:14an idea that Jesus wants to hang with us.
- 6:19He wants to eat with us.
- 6:21He wants to spend time with us.
- 6:26You see, the scriptures tells us in 1 Thessalonians that we are to pray without ceasing.
- 6:33In Hebrews chapter 4, he invites us to come boldly to the throne.
- 6:38He wants to speak to us because prayer is our hearts lifted up towards Jesus
- 6:45in communication with him,
- 6:48telling him about how much we love him, telling him about how wonderful his
- 6:52grace and his mercies and blessings are, and asking him, casting our cares upon
- 6:56him because he cares for us.
- 6:59This relationship we have with Jesus, it's real and it's personal.
- 7:04Because in Romans 10, 13, he said, whosoever
- 7:08shall call upon the lord shall be saved and
- 7:11in john chapter 3 in verse 16 he said that for
- 7:14god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth
- 7:18you see he showed us in that particular verse that his love grace mercy and
- 7:24forgiveness of sin is free for everyone because he loves the world but that
- 7:30it's a personal commitment when he said that whosoever believeth.
- 7:34You see, this relationship you have with Jesus, it's real and it's personal.
- 7:41And he knows you so well that he knows even the number of hairs on your head.
- 7:47And he loves you so much that he went away to prepare a place for you,
- 7:53that where he was, we could be also.
- 7:56And friends, he's so interested in you that he says, I know the plans that I have for you.
- 8:01He has an expected end a
- 8:05future and a hope it isn't
- 8:09circumstances that dictate your
- 8:12relationship with god shouldn't be but
- 8:16i find that in our humanness when we
- 8:19need him real badly we talk to him more often and
- 8:23when things seem to be going well in our lives we sort
- 8:26of just ignore him and I challenge you
- 8:29look at your daily planner your palm
- 8:33pilot whatever it is that you sort of structure your day with and just really
- 8:39at the end of the day look at how much time you spent with Jesus you see he
- 8:46says that if you've done it unto the least of these my brethren you've done and unto me.
- 8:51So time spent helping others in the name of Jesus, giving his love out to others,
- 8:57is time spent loving on Jesus.
- 9:00And time spent in his word is time spent directly with him.
- 9:05And you say, Kim, what are you talking about? I am telling you this,
- 9:09exactly what the scriptures say.
- 9:11If you would please turn to John chapter 1 and verse 14.
- 9:17And the scriptures say, and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory.
- 9:28The glory as of the only begotten of the father full of grace and truth.
- 9:37We spoke about accounts of Jesus being face to face.
- 9:43How could you ever forget the beautiful story of Jesus coming to the boat,
- 9:50walking on the water, because the boat was in trouble.
- 9:54They could see the storm, and they were beginning to get stressed.
- 9:59And Jesus, walking on the water, comes to them, and Peter says,
- 10:02Hey, if you be Jesus, call me, bid me come.
- 10:06Come this is peter come and as
- 10:09he's walking to the people in the boat you see
- 10:13he knew the problem before they could even ask and he's on his way right there
- 10:18in the midst and peter calls to him and he responds and peter doesn't have a
- 10:27perfect meeting with jesus because he took his eyes off of Jesus,
- 10:32begin to doubt, begin to look at things, and the circumstances begin to weigh on him.
- 10:37Remember, circumstances should not dictate our relationship with Jesus,
- 10:40but oftentimes, we as humans allow that to happen.
- 10:44And Peter sinks when he starts looking around and trying to figure things out.
- 10:50And he begins to realize, people don't walk on water, therefore I can't.
- 10:55And that hint of doubt began to cause him to fall, and he went straight into the water.
- 11:00And he said save me and immediately
- 11:04jesus reached down and picked
- 11:07him up that is a face-to-face encounter
- 11:10with jesus christ in a place of absolute need but friends i also want to tell
- 11:17you that in john chapter 3 there was a man a ruler that came to jesus by night
- 11:23in absolute need and he met with Jesus.
- 11:29And he asked Jesus, what does a man have to do to be born again?
- 11:32And Jesus says, marvel not that I say unto you that you must be born again,
- 11:35and you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 11:39Except the man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
- 11:43These were real encounters of Jesus.
- 11:47And John chapter 1 and verse 14 said that the word was made flesh.
- 11:52So the word became flesh.
- 11:56That same Jesus that was walking around speaking to others is the very same
- 12:03Jesus that you have an opportunity to spend time with as you read the word and it becomes alive in you.
- 12:10And Jesus in whom you have placed your faith. Jesus in whom you have a personal relationship.
- 12:16Jesus who knows you better than anyone else and who has given you full opportunity
- 12:21to know him because from Genesis to Revelations, it speaks of Jesus.
- 12:26And he is prophesied in the Old Testament and he is fulfilled in the New Testament.
- 12:31And his life on earth is chronicalized all the way from Matthew to Revelations.
- 12:36And we can fully know God because we fully can know Jesus because in John chapter
- 12:411 and verse 1, he says, in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.
- 12:48And then he says that the word was made flesh and Jesus was the flesh of the
- 12:53word that dwelt among us.
- 12:55And how beautiful it is that he says, and we beheld his glory,
- 13:00the glory of the only begotten son, this Jesus, that you have an opportunity to spend time with.
- 13:08He's not an ordinary man. He wasn't just a prophet.
- 13:14No, this Jesus was God. He even said so himself.
- 13:19He thought it not robbery to count himself equal as God because he is God.
- 13:25In that daily planner that you have, you'll put beautiful things in it.
- 13:33And you'll fill it up with incredible memories.
- 13:36And you'll place things in that planner that are there to keep you from missing
- 13:42important dates and important events in your life.
- 13:46But how many of our planners or whatever it is that we use to structure our
- 13:50day, how many of them have dates with Jesus?
- 13:55And if you do have it in there praise be
- 13:58to god you understand you need to spend time with
- 14:00him but so many of us just sort of
- 14:03box him in and we say we're going to spend 10 or 15 minutes or i'm going to
- 14:07pray when i first get up my friends you are missing the opportunity to spend
- 14:11time and fellowship with jesus christ he said i will sup with you and you with
- 14:17me i'll hang with you because he also said, I'll never leave you nor forsake you.
- 14:23Friends, he has an appointment in his book.
- 14:26In Hebrews chapter 9 and verse 27, he says, and as it is appointed unto men
- 14:33once to die, but after this, the judgment.
- 14:37You see, you're going to meet him. You are going to meet him.
- 14:42And you are going to speak to him and at that time every knee shall bow and every tongue,
- 14:51shall confess who he is but you need to bow your knees now and confess him now
- 14:57prior to that day that we're told in Romans 12 14 14 12 that says so that every
- 15:03one of us shall give account of himself to God.
- 15:05You see, we will spend inordinate amounts of time getting ready for a special event.
- 15:13Perhaps we spend inordinate amount of time getting ready for a date with someone
- 15:19that we love or a potential mate.
- 15:23And most of us just blitz through the day with Jesus knocking.
- 15:28He's knocking on your door
- 15:31asking you to spend time with him offering himself as your friend he said greater
- 15:38love hath no man than this and a manly done his life for his friends he says
- 15:43come chat with me when he says come boldly to the throne of grace that you may
- 15:47obtain help in time of need.
- 15:51He says, come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- 15:56My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Take my yoke upon thee.
- 16:00He's always working out all things for our good.
- 16:05And you have an opportunity at any time. You don't even have to make a reservation.
- 16:09And you'll never be turned away. Because he loves you.
- 16:14He loves you with all he has. he
- 16:18loves you with his entire being he
- 16:22loves you fully and completely and unconditionally
- 16:25and he gives you all these tips for successful life he says to study he says
- 16:34to pray he says to work in my vineyard he says to lean upon me and not your
- 16:41own understanding acknowledge me and I'll direct your paths.
- 16:45He said, let your requests be made known with thanksgiving.
- 16:50He said, I love you. And we love him because he first loved us.
- 16:57He has done everything to reveal himself to us.
- 17:02And then he calls us and draws us and he gives us blessings daily.
- 17:08He loadeth us with blessings, the psalmist David said. and he says anytime you
- 17:13call upon me i will answer thee jeremiah 33 3 call unto me and i will answer
- 17:20thee and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.
- 17:26He doesn't require anything of you, but a submissive heart that he can raise you up in due time.
- 17:35A heart that is repentant, that he can take away the ugliness and the sinfulness
- 17:39and the iniquity and fill it with himself.
- 17:45You see, in John chapter 14, he says, In my father's house are many mansions,
- 17:48and if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
- 17:55Jesus then placed the comforter inside of you that you could be comforted that
- 18:01he could teach you and show you things when you have need of it so that he would
- 18:05be constantly attached to you,
- 18:08that's how much he loves you and then he gave you a beautiful love letter from
- 18:13genesis to revelations that reveals who he is and it is jesus himself and when
- 18:19you sit down with the word of God, you are sitting down with Jesus.
- 18:24And it's so difficult for our finite minds to grasp that infinite truth.
- 18:30But the Bible says in John 1 chapter 14 that the word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
- 18:37And he tells us that the word was with God.
- 18:41That's Jesus. And that the word was God. That's God.
- 18:44And we have the word.
- 18:47What are you doing with it? Are you reading it?
- 18:52As he told us to in 2 Timothy 2.15, as the psalmist David said,
- 18:56there was a light into our path and a lamp into our feet.
- 19:00As we were warned of by David when he said, hide it in your heart that you might not sin against God.
- 19:06It shows us the promises of God so that
- 19:09we can fully trust in the promises of god
- 19:12he said that he come to give us life and
- 19:15then we might have it more abundantly and he is constantly telling us how much
- 19:19he loves us and he showed us how much he loved us by his death and the cruel
- 19:23cross of calvary but my friends he beckons you to have a personal up-to-date
- 19:29relationship with him that is current and constant.
- 19:34You don't need to be living on a testimony of 10 years ago.
- 19:38You need to be living on the living love and grace and mercy of God that he
- 19:42bestows upon you daily and moment by moment.
- 19:45That is current and real as you become the light of the world as your relationship with him grows.
- 19:51You want to see Jesus? Read his word. You want to see Jesus?
- 19:56Study. You want to see Jesus? You pray.
- 20:00Spend time with God. That's how you know him. and amazing things will happen
- 20:04when he gets a hold of you.
- 20:06You got all of him when you knelt at the cross and you asked him to become your savior.
- 20:11But my friends, justification and sanctification takes place as he gets more and more of you.
- 20:18Let Jesus have full reign in your life.
- 20:23And it's the greatest date you'll ever have because there's no impurity,
- 20:29there's no immorality, there's no tempting, there's no garbage, there's no yuck.
- 20:35It's just absolute, pure, undefiled, unconditional love and acceptance.
- 20:43And he is the greatest friend you'll ever have. He'll be a light in darkness.
- 20:49He'll be health in sickness.
- 20:52He'll be freedom in bondage. He'll be a rescuer when you are in trouble.
- 20:59He'll be a constant friend who is greater and sticking closer than a brother,
- 21:05who is capable and who loves you, and who said, I will never leave you because I love you.
- 21:15Are you spending time with him? Fill up your days with Jesus Christ.
- 21:20Structure your life through Jesus.
- 21:24Friends, invest your time.
- 21:29Build a relationship with the one who never fails.
- 21:34Shall we pray? Our kind and most gracious to heavenly father,
- 21:37Lord, we just thank you for this, another opportunity we have to come before you.
- 21:41Lord, we thank you that you're a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
- 21:44And we're thankful that you pursue us, Lord, and that you love us.
- 21:48Lord, we're thankful that you loved us before we loved you.
- 21:51And we just ask that you would just come into our hearts and that you would
- 21:55just walk through our lives.
- 21:56And Lord, that you would just make a change in us that would just compel us
- 22:00to spend time in your word and to spend time with you.
- 22:03Lord, embrace us and help us to embrace you.
- 22:07Lord, thank you for receiving us into your family.
- 22:10Thank you for loving us, Lord. And if anyone would be listening to this lesson,
- 22:15Lord, who doesn't know you as personal Savior, Lord, we just ask that you would
- 22:19convict their hearts and they would realize that all they have to do is confess
- 22:22that you are Jesus Christ.
- 22:25Believe in you and know who you are and that your sinless, spotless life and
- 22:31your cruel death on Calvary, shedding of your blood, washed away their sins.
- 22:37And that on the third day you arose again, victorious over hell, death, and the grave.
- 22:42And that we are all sinners in need of a Savior.
- 22:45And that whosoever believeth in you should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- 22:51Lord, be with those who need you as personal Savior.
- 22:54Be with those of us who know you dearly, that we may draw closer to you,
- 22:58because you said if we draw close to you, you would draw nigh unto us.
- 23:02All these things we ask in thy most precious and holy name we pray,
- 23:05and all of God's people said, Amen.
