Let's do this. They're supposed to be done at 7:00 over there, but- What time is it? 7:00. It's 7:00. They're supposed to be done- Well, yeah. This is like a- Maybe it's our new theme music... supposed to be done.
• 0:09
This is like, uh, what's-his-face, Paul at Circle A. You know, "Oh, it has to be done, uh, you know, 8:00 to 10:00." Oh, h- come on, Paul, one more, one more, one more. Is that what he does? Well, yeah, pretty much.
• 0:21
But if you're nudging at it and then, uh, [smacks lips] sub- substitute- Oh, you can, you can stuff another song in there. Well, yeah.
• 0:27
And then when you're a Who, a Who tribute band, you do a quick one while he's away- Should we, should we start the show?... which is 14 minutes fucking long. [laughs] Did we start the show already? Why not?
• 0:35
Hey, everybody. [laughs] We've got background sound. Yeah, hey, well, we'll still do the thing. Let's do the thing.
• 0:45
[upbeat music] [singing] Wow, see how nicely that dovetailed into our theme song? Not even sure you could really hear it. I did some tests before. I'm gonna see how that works out. [laughs] If they...
• 1:04
You know, they... We, we got the band over there, the Vamp Lane. Do they have a name yet? Uh, is that S- Fates of Death or something? Oh, is that, uh, Sean's, Sean's- Sean's new band? Yeah. Yeah, Sean. Sean. Oh.
• 1:15
Sean James. Fa- it might be Fates of Death. It might... Yeah. Fates of- Wait, James is in there now, too? James is now playing bass. Oh, the poor guys. And also, uh, Bob- I mean, I mean James the poor guy, not Sean...
• 1:25
the drummer is somebody they met at, uh, whatever, that- That festival was we were at. Yeah, that thing, so- Trash Fest. No. No. Heap Fest. Heap Fest. Whatever. Heap a Trash Fest.
• 1:35
[laughs] No, Trash Fest was earlier in the month. All right. It was. Hey. Come on. Hey, everybody, guess what? I'm not just making shit up- Guess what?... even though I'm saying it. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, guess what?
• 1:43
[laughs] Let me tell you what. The team is back. Uh, across from me there's JK. Hi. Tony, Tony Burger's here. Mm-hmm. I don't think we've actually been in the studio for, like, almost a month. Mm-hmm.
• 1:55
The hell's been going on, Tony Burger? House. Oh, yeah, you were saying, "Oh, I haven't seen your frat bike." Doing house, house, house. Yeah, I haven't seen- And I'm like, "Oh, yeah, well, I haven't seen you."
• 2:04
Ooh, ouch. Uh. You haven't seen your what bike? House. I haven't seen you. House. House. Yeah, house, uh, had to get the house ready for my daughter's 17th birthday party. Did they burn it down to the ground?
• 2:18
No, actually, it was remarkably in good shape, other than they left... Well, to my fortune, they, they left a, a plethora of s- bags of snacks. So I got all kinds of s- stuff to eat- Did they-...
• 2:32
while working on the house now. [laughs] Did, did they recycle responsibly this time? 'Cause I do believe- Uh, I, I did not-... it was- I have not found anything yet.
• 2:40
It wa- I- if I'm not mistaken, was, it was maybe a calendar year ago- It was... where- You are right... you were just, "Rah" about like- Well, it was ch- I gave her three days-... just lore-...
• 2:50
to get rid of the beer cans... Lore ax. So- Three days... Lore ax all over the place. But if you're not there, then you're not contributing to the delinquency of your daughter? I didn't buy it for her. Okay.
• 3:00
So- I mean, I-... you just provided the party palace... I, you know- [laughs]... we, we went and checked on 'em at 10:00, and Molly sniffed all the glasses and said everything sound, seemed legit. All right.
• 3:10
[laughs] That the boys were not, were still there and would be going home late. That was, in my generation, right, anciently, a long time ago, we didn't party at people's houses- Oh, no, no, no...
• 3:19
unless the folks were- Gone... definitely gone and, uh- Not, not, that, that didn't even really occur in my whatever area or whoever I hung out with. Oh, we did. It was always outside.
• 3:28
It was always in the ravine or on the lakefront- Huh... down, you know, below, below the bluff. I mean, that was not, not, not basically- I suppose that's... I didn't have those options, really.
• 3:37
They're better options than someone's- I-... house 'cause you can, you know, run. We... Yeah. We got, actually, one time we, we, we were- Run. Yes, [laughs] you can run. You can run.
• 3:44
[laughs] We were near Lake Michigan once, or Na- Lake Winnebago once when I was in my teens. And the cops came, and two of my big football buddies grabbed the half barrel and ran with it. And we- [laughs]...
• 3:56
all got away, and no one could figure out where anyone was. And then finally we saw them all in the back of a pickup truck, of course, with the half barrel. Good call.
• 4:03
So we found a new place to go and finish that half barrel. Right on. It was fun. Speaking of half barrels, we went to a place that makes beer for the Milwaukee Winter Bike Party. Oh, that was this weekend. I...
• 4:14
No, it was, uh, it was, was it Wednesday? Last Thursday. Thursday? Yeah. My... JK sent me a note that said, "I'm going to this, this winter bike party," and it- Yeah...
• 4:23
it was on my kinda sorta radar, but it wasn't- Yeah... it wasn't- It wa- it was like the, it was the, the Winter Bike Summit that just kinda gets renamed-ish. Right. And- Because there was no summit this time.
• 4:32
Thank God they didn't ask you to speak. I mean, they did, I guess, kinda. I wasn't there that early, so. Oh, maybe. I would- I saw, I saw something on the books... I think some people went- Yep, yep, yep.
• 4:40
And then- Well, they had these s- you know, high school or maybe more like middle school science fair- Setups, yeah... set up with- Yeah... the, uh, the boards with stuff on 'em. It had the same look as years past.
• 4:51
I- Like that. I, well, I, I did take a couple pictures of some, a couple interesting things for your winter bike riding. I'll- Mm-hmm... put 'em in the show notes.
• 4:58
Just how to use, you know, recycled junk to make fenders and- Yeah, yeah... crap like that. Yeah. So. Oh, cool. It was all right. But, uh, I, I didn't get there that late.
• 5:06
And well, the whole point was I was happening to be at the shop, and it's only, like, two blocks away, [laughs] and JK's like, "I think I'm gonna go to that thing."
• 5:13
I'm like, "I thought it was way down at, down the south side of, like- It used to be at, uh- Right, yeah... like, at- Transfer and, Transfer Pizza and stuff. Yeah, yeah. It used to be- Or, or the Great Lakes...
• 5:20
one time it was at the, the Great Lakes. Yeah. Right. But I was like, "Come with us right there." That's where I won the tattoo. Speaking of winning,
• 5:27
did you see the plethora of prizes that JK won in the ra- Yeah, that's, that's impressive... in the raffle? By the way. That was a nice- Is that it? It was... Oh, yeah. Uh-huh. Take... What's that?
• 5:37
Take a picture of that. Take a pic- Take a, take a, take a- Take a pic- take a pic. You can't take a picture of yourself. Take a picture. So yeah, JK walked away with, well, not only
• 5:44
taking a picture of Tony's shirt, but, uh- Come on... a bunch of stuff. I- There we go... what was in there. I, I know the Show Beer was in there. Well- Yes, it was a four-pack...
• 5:51
we'll be getting to the top of the hill here in a little bit. Yeah. [laughs] Well, it was supposed to be a different beer, but they dropped it and then just said, "Pick another four-pack."
• 6:01
[laughs] And I just picked the four-pack of what I was drinking, which was Shoegaze or #shoegaze. What did you think of Shoegaze? I like it. Oh. I mean- Well, we'll find out tonight. Yeah, it was all right. Yeah.
• 6:10
Uh- Tony made a sniffy face nose at it... I got a, a little hat A little chapeau That's, that's a nice hat too And it's a little tight on my big old- On your-... pumpkin head Yeah, yeah. Uh, a $25 gift card. Nice.
• 6:24
To where? To Gathering Place, the- Oh, right... place where we were at We, that we gathered at. Two tickets to the Krampusnacht. Mm-hmm. Which you also attended, I assume.
• 6:33
Yes, which I didn't really need a ticket to, but, um, [laughs] Right. I found that out too. I found that out too. Yeah, once I got to the top of the fucking hill. [laughs] Like, God. Oh, God. Okay.
• 6:46
Uh, one of Nick's stickers from, uh, River West Grows, new place in the area right down the block actually. That's a great story. It's only four blocks from here- Yeah... give or take, maybe five.
• 6:56
I got a Santa Rampage, uh, patch, so I didn't have to pay the [laughs] entry fee for the Santa Rampages here. Oh, there you go. Well done. There you go. Okay. I, I didn't, I, no, no, no. Did you Santa Rampage? Oh, yes.
• 7:10
Oh, you did. In my own way. Oh. In my own delightful way. And I believe someone else also rampaged. Let's put it this way. Did I miss this all from last week? No. No, I rampaged this past weekend up in Rochester.
• 7:21
Oh, that's right. Now, and good? I didn't wanna steal any thunder. Sven, how was that? It was six degrees- Oh... when we started on- Oh... Saturday. Well,
• 7:31
it- I immediately don't- Chewy, Chewy was smart and had already set the time at 11:00 instead of 9:00 like we started last year. And I was like, "11:00, that's, that's doable." Plus it was,
• 7:42
um, the World Cup game too, or there was a World Cup game. Was it the World Cup game? Where they lost? The- Yeah, that one... where they lost. Where we cried in- Yeah... our beers- Yeah... watching it at Brothers.
• 7:52
[laughs] Um, so yeah, so it, well, by the time we actually got rolling, I think it was eight degrees, and it was, it, fortunately not super windy, and it was sunny, and- That's helpful...
• 8:01
I crack you, those Santa suits are pretty warm. Mm-hmm. That's a lot of polyester, man. I know. It's gonna, it's gonna- Maybe, maybe that's why Santa in his sleigh's so bright- Right... is also warm. Maybe.
• 8:10
Man, my Snuggie does not disappoint. [laughs] Fucking hear it. Did you- Shitting you not, man... did you pull out the same- Oh, it's the same getup. Yeah, yeah. The same, the same getup? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
• 8:18
Uh, there was some interesting costumes. I think we'd had about 25 people, which is- That's pretty good... it's growing. Yeah. It's better than the year before, and it was way colder. It was like 40 last year.
• 8:29
Uh, although I, I don't know. I thought the 40 felt pretty cold to me last year, and this- Right... didn't really feel that cold. It was, it, we- The dampness. Right. The moisture. Damp, damp and cloudy. Well, let's see.
• 8:38
We hit, we hit Brothers, L- uh, Life's Too Short, LTS Brewery, Little Thistle Brewery, Kinney Creek, Old Brick House, Thesis Beer Project, Taco Jed's, and the 63 Club. So that's one, two, three- What was that?...
• 8:50
four, five, six, seven. There's like nine stops. T- tell me about- Man... this Taco Jed's. Uh, that's where I ended my night. I did not get back to the 63 Club. By then it was, like, 10 o'clock at night. Oh, man.
• 9:01
So, and Dave may have some stories about this whole thing. Fair enough. Uh, there's way more than this story, but this story was on the way to Thesis Beer Project, which was, like, our second to last stop.
• 9:13
And he got his pants caught in his chain ring on his clunker, and [laughs] it was flopping around in the road, and, uh, ended up, like, tearing it all the way up his knee to get it out of the chain ring. Oh my God.
• 9:26
So you'll see his, uh, doc- I think I did- You'll see his, uh, gorilla tape repair probably. I did see that. It's already, it's already probably been online. I did see that. Yeah, it, it has.
• 9:32
It's been, I'm pretty sure it's been online, so. Now- So, but yeah... now it has some context. Yes. So I understand why now. I'm like, uh, I mean, I wanted to think. I'm going like, "What?
• 9:39
He shit his pants, and he just needed, like, a exhaus- like, [laughs] exhaust port to get it out of there without actually, like, taking the pants off?" He's, uh- [laughs]
• 9:49
That's, he just sent me, as a matter of fact, this morning Dave sent me an Amazon link for, uh, power grips. I think he's ordered himself another set of power grips.
• 9:58
Uh, there might be a set floating around here still at the shop. Ah, he should probably- There, there was a p- pair of pedals with them already- Yeah... installed somewhere too. I don't know if we ever sold those.
• 10:06
We sold them, then he returned them. Oh, they might be in a box somewhere then- Yeah... 'cause guess what? Everything's in boxes here. Yeah. Uh, let me close out this, uh, Rochester Santa Rampage thing by saying
• 10:16
if there's a Santa Rampage in your area, you should probably be doing it, and maybe we'll show up at them. I'm, I'm trying to get more... JK was about- I was-... almost, he was very- Oh, man...
• 10:25
on the fence about going, or 80%. That was, I was a, yeah.
• 10:27
Next year if we go up, we should go somewhere else though where they're just getting it going because, like, they've had years where there's only three people doing it up there. Now there's 25. So I think it- Right...
• 10:36
gets to that sort of critical mass where people start to go, "Yeah, that's something we should be doing." That was a really good time last year. Let's- Yeah, it was a good time...
• 10:42
a- and now have a bunch more people do it. And all the, all the stops are really good.
• 10:44
They, they love us coming through, and I guess the best part about the whole thing is that this is a Toys for Tots benefit as well, and we filled the back of Chewy's pickup truck bed with toys.
• 10:56
So it, you know, it was significant. Was- There's a lot of toys. He had the big, whatever the big Surly trailer is. Gosh. That was filled a couple times and emptied and- Um, I-...
• 11:04
you know, it's just like, there's a lot of the, the, and the, apparently the Toys for Tots up there is a very big deal, and so we're- Wow... happy to contribute to the kids at six degrees in the- Yeah... cold weather.
• 11:15
Uh, out of curiosity, was anyone riding on an electric bike? Oh, my Lord. Yes. There was a, there was a dude on a Tern, right? Is that what it is, Tern? That's, yeah, a Tern. Yeah.
• 11:26
And it's the longer one that can have a kid on the back. That, that's a nice little bike, man.
• 11:29
This kid's, like, eight years old or something, but I think he got injured playing soccer or, uh, hockey or something, so he was riding- Hockey, okay... on the back of it.
• 11:36
But he, he was like, his feet were, like, flopping on the ground, but- Well, they only have 20-inchers, man. Right. It's- And it's a Bosch. It's a nice unit. Uh.
• 11:43
And it's, like, apparently he's been replacing his car to a good extent with it for local stuff. There you go. There you go. So, and, uh, you know, I don't know.
• 11:52
He said he had 1,600 miles on it this year or something, so. Oh, that's respectable. Right. And it, it, it- But 1,600 less on a car...
• 11:59
I, I don't know how he stores it, but he was looking at, like, a skid loader from Surly, but it was bigger, and he can somehow flip this up on its tail and store it against the wall. I believe Terns do do that.
• 12:12
Yeah, so- It's pretty weird. Yeah. And some roller wheels on the- I, I th- 'cause it has a rack, and it just kinda sits- Right... on its tail- Yep... which is pretty freaking smart if you ask me.
• 12:21
I, I don't know that you do They make a good bike, too. Give you- Give you my damn opinion anyway. Yeah, yeah. Uh, [stutters] [bell ringing] Oh, look at that. We got to the hill, man. We got to the top. I don't know.
• 12:33
Well, we're, uh, while we're talking about this so I don't forget, like, all of my topics, um, the discussion you and I had- Well-... via text, Greg, on, or Sven. Greg, who? Sven. Who's Sven? I don't know.
• 12:45
Re- re- regarding the deal on, and I, and I d- I'm not buying one because I don't have a reason to do any. [laughs] Oops. I took my can out of my koozie, but I kept the can. And not the koozie. And not the koozie.
• 12:58
[laughs] I am a rage- It's gonna be a long night, everybody. Sorry, guys. Grab your sacks and hoes and pull. Sorry. Is that what we're saying? [laughs] Um, the, the- Now, now this-...
• 13:07
exchange we had that even though I don't need another bike right now, that you can buy... Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. A, uh, Detroit bike right now that is made in America, made in Detroit- 'Merica...
• 13:24
handmade in Detroit Friends. Made in Detroit... uh, and asse- uh, fully assembled in United States for- Built by American folk... yeah, like 665 right now? Something like that. For a three-speed with a rack?
• 13:37
I mean- Rack of what? I mean, that's- I'll have some of that... and, and as you said is if it can be done in Detroit, why are we not doing it in Milwaukee?
• 13:45
This is just something that, uh, well, I fully expect that Milwaukee could make a better bike than... And there is the Milwaukee Bicycle Company, but they're not really made in Milwaukee. Whoa.
• 13:56
I think we just learned our lesson- And they're not-... two seconds ago with the spilling of the beer in the opening... and they're not [bell ringing] 650 bucks either. When you tap your beer- I'm not, yeah, I-...
• 14:06
turn it over towards the door over there. Ooh. All right, we're still at Top of the Hill, though. We'll, we'll come back to this Detroit- Yeah...
• 14:10
conversation 'cause I think it's important that Milwaukee has everything needed to make bikes on a large scale at a reasonable price. So what we have here is a Gathering Place #shoegaze. Shoegaze.
• 14:24
I didn't know that was, had the #shoegaze. It's not sho- it's not shoegazy 'cause- Shoegazy?... I'm with shoegazy. But- No... no. Not, not for- It, it doesn't-...
• 14:32
not for an oat- [laughs] not for a locally made oatmeal pale ale. [laughs] It doesn't really- That's why... it doesn't really shoegazy the crap out of me, that's for sure. No, no, no, no, no.
• 14:41
No, if it was at, like, you know, 9.1%, maybe, but [laughs] this- Oh, I didn't make the yucky face, did I? Oh, my watch went ding. I did not make the yucky face.
• 14:54
[laughs] I did, I had this also during the Milwaukee Winter Bike Party- Mm-hmm... over at, at Gathering Place, and I wasn't like, "Oh, that sucked." Yeah.
• 15:02
But I d- I do admit the Gathering Place is semi-hit or miss for me on beer. Sure, sure. And I mean, I was like, uh, I wasn't in the mood to- Uh, it's got a weird aftertaste.
• 15:10
It's kinda sneaking up on me and slapping me in the face now. What is that aftertaste? Let's, let's put it this way. I ordered it, and then I ordered a second one, and the, the tab ran, or the
• 15:23
keg ran, ran out [laughs] before I was completely full, so I got it for free. I like that. Oh, good call. And then I won the thing, and then they said, "Just pick a, a different four-pack." Sorry.
• 15:32
So I was like, "I'm just gonna keep with the theme of the f- shoegaze." Yeah. It's, it's not- So I, I mean, this is not, like, you have to go and get this only. So what exactly is this?
• 15:41
It's an overwhelming volume of El Dorado and Cascade hops. A mild bitterness obscured by the addition of flaky, flake, flake of, flake- Oats... oats. Oh, so it's got oats in it.
• 15:51
And a lush distortion of dryness creates- It's got oats. Are you allergic to oats?... ethereal notes of hop, malt, blah, blah, blah. Uh, wheat. Crank the stereo, grab a tall glass- I know... and make the music.
• 15:59
So crank it up. It, it's not my favorite thing in the whole entire world. No. But it's not awful. But I had a reason for getting it. You got it for free. Yeah. See- And that's the reason... 'cause it was A for that.
• 16:07
For free. Yes. Anyway, you know, Gathering Place is still a nice place right down there. Hell yeah. Heck, heck, it's, it, it, there, it's only- I got 25 bucks to burn there, baby... let me, let me put it like this.
• 16:18
Vroom, vroom, vroom. It's only two blocks away, and there is a brewery between here and there. [laughs] Yeah. Is it? Okay. So- We do our own brewery tour. [laughs] Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
• 16:28
Speaking of brewery tours, Segway guy. Uh-huh. Uh, s- Madison Santa Rampage is this weekend. Yeah. But it's a kind of a commitment on time and going, and then likely you'd have to stay there if you were me, for sure.
• 16:43
R- r- right. Is this a- But that's not saying we won't do it, but there is also- Is this also a- I posted that... a Bike Fetty? It is. Okay. But it's, it's so- No, no, no. I, and I- There-...
• 16:56
only say that with trepidation because I remember doing this, the, the Milwaukee one last year when they started from Bay View. And y- you know what? Hey, awesome, cool, da, da, da, da, if that's your jam.
• 17:11
But I mean, it's parade. It is parade police-led route. Yep. Yep. And it goes slow. Yep. And it goes, uh- Well, slow rolling's good. [laughs] Slow rolling keeps you- Slow rolling-... from falling down as much...
• 17:22
for six miles? Well, okay. No. So I don't know- That p- no. Actually, that makes- Yeah, that's, like, an hour... that makes me fall down. Yes. I mean, that slow- Yeah... makes me fall down. Copy that. So- I- Okay.
• 17:31
Um, but let me dovetail again. We're all over the place. Over the place guy. On the Milwaukee Santa Rampage this year, I was like, "Oh, I was thinking about going down there," and then I immediately remembered [laughs]
• 17:44
how the return was- Brutal... dun, dun. No, I mean- No... it just wasn't my jam that way. So I was like, "Oh, fuck it. I'm gonna..."
• 17:51
You know, okay, stopped over at, somebody had mentioned Hollander 'cause that's where their destination was. Gary Johnson. Was [laughs] no, actually, it was Lloyd. [laughs] T-N-T. I got- And it was like- Lloyd...
• 18:04
it was, it was like boom, boom, boom. Lloyd. I'm like, "Ah, okay." Lloyd. And it was around 9:00, and I'm like, "You know what?
• 18:08
I'm gonna run over there simply because Downer Liquor opened at 9:00," [laughs] so I could buy some Roadies. And so I had a sidewalk beer outside there. Didn't see anybody. All is well. Find one Mississippi, two.
• 18:22
Oh, I'm gonna head down to Nomad. And check out some of the World Cup, as you were speaking of. [coughs] Right on. And as I'm coming [laughs] around the corner towards there, cops, everything.
• 18:35
I'm like, "What the hell is going on here?" I look, whole fucking street from Nomad all the way west, past Humboldt, I think all the way to, uh, uh, f- uh, Holton, was... They were just... The whole...
• 18:50
They just took over. It just was an overtake. Yeah. And [laughs] but I'm coming the other direction as they're l- Mean with people for the game? No, no, no. For the match? No, for the Santa Rampage.
• 19:01
We're not saying Rampage. What the hell you talking about over here, man? Oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh my, I'm sorry. There's a lot of- So I'm coming up- There's a lot of ancillary chatter here... I guess, yeah.
• 19:06
Well- So I'm coming in this way, and they're mounting up to leave to go to Hollander. Visuals might be- Uh- So, and I am- Our hands towards each other...
• 19:12
I'm going, I'm going into them, and I'm like, "Oh, yeah, you're wrong way." I'm like, [imitates brakes hissing]. [laughs] And so I lock up, and all of a sudden they go st- like, slow parade, whatever.
• 19:24
I'm locked up across the street as they're slow-rolling past, and I have to just walk through, kinda like the Harley- Uh-huh... crossover [laughs] during the parade- Yeah]...
• 19:34
from one side to the other, which was whatever. But this was a little easier to do. That was awesome [laughs] to pull it off.
• 19:41
And that's where I ran into, like, Berta and Mike and Zito and Harts and Scanlon and Han, and uh... Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's where our- All people...
• 19:52
ad- our, our adventure- Everyone that comes to Milwaukee- Our adventure began-... should know... from there. Well, I think Madison is going to be slightly different, in that I think they're promoting the...
• 20:04
They're doing this, the, kinda the hub effect. Start out on the edge of the city and meet, ride a little bit, and then you're done. So, I- Mm...
• 20:13
I think they're promoting the idea of starting in many different areas of the city- Oh, that spider web- Yeah... effect. Right. Bringing it in that way. Yeah.
• 20:19
So they're going to all converge on one spot, ride five miles and call it a day, I think- Yeah... is what it sounds like. That's fair enough.
• 20:26
Um, in fact- Or- In fact, the organized portion that is benefiting the Bike Fed is really only an hour long.
• 20:32
So, you start at 9:00 in the morning, you meet up at 11:00, you're done at noon, and you go on your merry way, and Santas disperse throughout the whole city again, which I, uh, I think- Yeah... that's a good thing.
• 20:42
I like Santas everywhere because- But, oh, if we did see Santas- I will tell you what- Yeah, what were the- We ran into Sam D., and, uh, Christopher too. Well, right on. Uh, uh, in, in Milwaukee here, people- Yeah...
• 20:52
have mentioned, just in the few days I've been, you know, poking around, that they saw Santas everywhere. Yeah, and that's the point. And once you have the 2,000 people and they disperse- Mm... then you have- Mm...
• 21:04
Santas going in every direction, which I think is a good thing. Yes, indeed, indeed, indeed. I think they oughta tack on that Toys for Tots thing too.
• 21:11
I mean, I know it's a benefit for the Bike Fed, but heck in heck, people got, people got cash- Well, no, just-... all over the place. They just got a bunch from the government... some of the stops.
• 21:18
Shit, just that's all- What does it take to run the Bike Fed too? I mean, there's a lot of money coming in from that. Got that dang old website Dave Schlabowski built. That's nice. It's already built, though. I dunno.
• 21:29
Getting content, doing programs, doing things. These lawyers and stuff are fighting at the capitols and stuff, but wow. I spoke- Well, that's lobbyists, man... oh, by the way. That too, that too. Oh, yeah.
• 21:40
And then at, right after we left there, we made the big jump over to, uh, Roman Coin- Oh, yeah... which is about four blocks away. [laughs] Four blocks up. Copy that. So, okay, so Madison has one coming up.
• 21:51
We had one here in Milwaukee last week. Uh- Boom... but we were kind of getting into the fact that there is something else to do in Milwaukee, which is not only Amorphix one year anniversary, but kind of a...
• 22:02
There's five breweries in Riverwest, and they have this thing called the 53 Brew One Two shuttle, which just constantly does a loop of, like, it's around a half hour, a little more, between all of the bars.
• 22:14
So you can just, when it comes by you, you jump on, you go to the next bar. And that's happening- Brewery. They're, they have bar- Tasting room... they have bars at them. Yeah. True, they don't have booze hall, though.
• 22:24
They just got the beer. So yeah, brewery. Okay, whatever. Probably why they call it Brew One Two, you. Right. Anyhoo, [laughs] so- Well, this-... so that'll be happening too.
• 22:33
This is when all of the, uh, the beers fell off of Berta's head. Oh, JK has photos. He should probably send those to David. [laughs] Well, it w- [laughs] Oh, no, it's, no, it's- That's, we turned it into salvage.
• 22:44
[laughs] So while, while, uh- All for Homer. All for Homer... while Puck and I were doing the four-hour drive home from the Rochester, uh, Santa Rampage benefiting Toys for Tots, we gave a call to Mr.
• 22:58
Schlabowski, who was on his way back from the Milwaukee one to his home in North, northern Wisconsin, up there, Life Above 8, blah, blah, blah. And he, he laid some, he laid some knowledge on me, man. Wow.
• 23:12
"Well, if you're going up that way, there's a town called Hixton. You might run through it.
• 23:17
And if you do, you're gonna wanna stop there with an empty tank, 'cause it's the least expensive gas between Milwaukee [laughs] and Hayward." Nice. [laughs] There's sometimes those little pockets. Yeah.
• 23:27
There's one, like, going up to Merrill too, where it's like center of the state, and it's, like, 20 cents a gallon less than, you know, our local area, where you can find a range of 40 cents a gallon here too. Right.
• 23:39
You know? So I just like, "Well, 2.78 a gallon, I'll, I'll buy some of that."
• 23:45
I, uh, I- And speaking of the Schlabows- Thank God our beloved president is lowering the price of gasoline, 'cause I know that's well with his, in his control. Yeah, right. Yeah, right.
• 23:52
[laughs] No, what I think is, is, um- I almost, almost got talked into going out to Kohanski's. Almost. Almost got talked out. Wouldn't, wouldn't have cost much gas in your bike to get out there. I know.
• 24:02
It was, um, yeah. I just couldn't... I had to, I had to m- turn, and I had to turn it around. [laughs] You know- I didn't have enough... Sam Str- Sam the Strong gentleman
• 24:12
seems to, you know, do everything at the right time, and I think he picked a great time to sell his Ja- or his Toureg TDI now that- Toureg... diesel is $5 a gallon plus. Which makes no sense at all- Right...
• 24:26
because it's less refined. Right. So- Absolutely... give me a break here... it's more in demand I demand you sell me my diesel cheaper Or I'm gonna make my carbon on grease More cheaply. Yeah, I don't know.
• 24:38
So, oh, oh, so the Schlabowski thing. And besides- Cheap gas...
• 24:42
talking about where he was and what we did and blah blah blah, he has, he has this new fat bike from the Milwaukee Bicycle Company people who make their fat bikes in Waterford, Wisconsin.
• 24:54
Uh, uh, but he is pretty happy with it, so we chatted about that. But also he has a part one review up at... I don't even know how you say this. It's the, it's The North, but it's with an X instead of an O.
• 25:07
So is an O a hug or a kiss? I don't know. Yeah, an, yeah, an X- I think that'd be- Yeah, an O- I think an O would be kisses... X and O. It's hugs and kisses, and it's XO X, O, X, O, hugs and kisses. Yeah. X is a hug.
• 25:18
So this is, it's a huggy North thing apparently with the X instead of the O. It's not a kissy North, because that's- I ain't going then... probably The North was already taken domain name-wise- Mm...
• 25:28
and they got The Nex- or what have you. Anyway, it's a really nice looking site. To me it looks a lot like bikepacking.com, which is a good thing, and- Dot com...
• 25:37
they seem to be getting Dave Schlabowski to write reviews for them, so check that out over there if you are so inclined. And he's reviewing his Milwaukee? The Milwaukee fat bike that he just- What's it called?...
• 25:48
received. Do we know? I don't even know if it has a name. I think it's called, get this, Fat Bike. Brilliant, 'cause I don't think- Original... anybody ever named their fat bike- Fat Bike... Fat Bike.
• 25:59
I named mine Fat Burger. Good call on that one. Kind of a play on the Burger name, hey? Pretty much. And you're fat too, so- I am fat... there you go. Makes- But when I bought it I wasn't as fat... perfect sense.
• 26:09
[laughs] I'm just older now. So you haven't been riding it enough is the whole point. There's a lot... No, I get to start doing that again soon, thank God. All right.
• 26:15
Got to tell you, when we're walking through the shop, hey, shop a little bit new layout. Not sure we're gonna stay here for very long, but at least it's looking better.
• 26:23
Uh, uh, Tony was talking about electrifying- It's a test... his ape. Chewy's gonna be like, [ape noises] "What? Why would you, why would you electrify the ape?" I have to start transporting a toddler
• 26:34
to school every day, and, and my toddler's of big girth, large girth, shall we say. Now, he's kind of a big guy. He's al- he's just shy of 50 pounds at three years old. [laughs] He's f- he's fitty.
• 26:47
Well, he's got a big head, so.
• 26:49
And I say this to everyone after I- [laughs] After they look at me, since I work currently for a medical facility, I say that, yes, my son just turned three and he's, you know, 48 pounds, and they all look at me.
• 27:03
I'm like, "You wanna know what's even more embarrassing is I started high school at 86." Ah. And he's three. Yeah. It's wild. He's gonna probably be bigger than you. He'll probably be kicking your ass by 11 years old.
• 27:14
Uh, hopefully not, but yeah. He's, he's gonna be training with Sam. He, I already have a picture of him flipping a tire at school. [laughs] I'm dead serious, I do. I'll, I'll send it for the show notes.
• 27:26
He is, he is full on flipping it, man. It's, it's like, uh... And he was only about a little over two. Right on. Jerk. Remember how we had this, the- I love him to bits...
• 27:36
the sale at the shop on State bicycles, they were such a good deal? Guess what we don't have anymore. He's- Wu-Tang, gone. They're all gone? Well, not all of them. There's still a couple black ones left, but- Yeah...
• 27:45
Andrew bought the Wu-Tang one. Justified it by saying he was gonna put it on his trainer. Mm. Although he's now down for the count for a couple days. But anyway, yeah. He was like, "I have to justify-" Wait, Sean? Yeah.
• 27:59
Oh, that's hilarious. Well, he's a Wu-Tang guy. He is a Wu-Tang guy. So it's like everybody's been talking about it, they want it, nobody stepped up to the plate, and I said, "Here you go." He's like, "I want that.
• 28:11
I just have to figure out [laughs] a way to justify it." It's the... Did he get the regular Clunker or did he get the road bike? The yellow Clunker, yeah. Nice. Yeah. Good call, eh? Mm-hmm. All right, everybody.
• 28:21
Except for they were on sale today. For 329. 299 I thought, but 329? I don't know. Hope he doesn't listen. Uh, no, 329 is the, like, through January 3rd or so. Okay. You can buy them off the website.
• 28:32
It was, it was 299 one day this week. Well, yeah, those can- Maybe not the Wu-Tang, though. I don't know. He'll be fine. You're gonna be like- Andrew's not gonna tell me. Yeah. What are you talking about?
• 28:42
What in the living hell? Anyway, all right, everyone. Uh, those, those fuckers over there, it's, uh, 30 minutes past their bedtime.
• 28:51
We should go tell them to [laughs] shut the hell up and- I'm not gonna give them a stern look since he's my fucking neighbor... get out of here. All right, everybody. Uh, I think we'll- We did it...
• 28:58
I think we'll do this next week. Maybe. Bye. Bye. Au revoir. [upbeat music] I might be really drunk next week considering it's my birthday. Yeah, Tony's microphone was still live, folks.
• 29:15
He might be kinda drunk next week. All right, it's the Big Daddy checking you out and checking in. [upbeat music]
