We are now at episode 30. We're not far away. I've heard people say thirties more fun than thirties are more fun than your twenties. So You might be, know, next 10 episodes might be better than the last 10. We're in our Steph Curry era. ⁓ we're talking about we should be more, we should be more professional at this podcast thing already. And we're still at treating it like it's our first time every time we get up here. So, ⁓ thank you everyone for tuning in. Matt, how was your weekend? Just great, man. Just great? A lot of NFL. It'd be just great. Just great. mean, in the draft, that's like your Holy grail. It really is actually. I get a lot of flack for it, which I crazy. Yeah. Cause I love the draft. love watching all the picks Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I love it. A lot of people don't and that's fine. I'm not, I'm not going to call you a casual just cause you don't watch the draft. Right. Just because I watched, just cause I watched the draft doesn't make me like a, like a net, like, you know, Football, big NFL geek or something. Like I just love what I love. I would want you to be a football geek on the podcast. That's. That's what we're looking for. is a safe place. This is a feature of the league, man. This is the future. The future is now. Players are getting drafted. These, these guys are going to make it in like an impact either this season, next season. I want to know who they are. You know, we, do have some draft recap coming up in the show. ⁓ I think Matt. And myself, you know what, I'm gonna give myself a pat on the back too, for an exceptional job on the Twitter. think I even got on there was firing off some tweets. Matt, you were obviously firing off some tweets, it was, I think it was a successful little weekend of support. I do have to have a hand up accountability. I can only watch so much of it. I did have a wedding I had to go to this weekend. So between the draft and hockey, I was like at the reception of the wedding, had my phone up and I was watching as best I can. I'm just trying to stay up to date on all the, all the sports, but there was just so much going on between NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs. And then obviously the draft. mean, the set was it seven rounds, six rounds. It's seven rounds, right? Or am I thinking of baseball? Why your draft geek? is seven rounds. So I just forget you would now. Sorry, dude. I, I'm not an NFL geek like yourself. Shout out Cole. Shout out Cole getting married. Yeah, one of our guys in our fancy football league getting married. Oh, but Matt, let's get into our Brody's of the Week. And I'll start us off first here. I think you should go first. My first Brody of the Week goes to Sebastian Sawye. I believe that how you pronounce his last name, S-A-W-E. He has set a new official men's marathon world record of, drum roll please. One hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds at the London marathon on Sunday, April 26th. He becomes the first human to break the two hour barrier in a legal race. People might be like, what do mean by legal race? Well, everyone remembers Kichoby in 2019. He ran a marathon under two hours, but it was not a sanctioned race. But he did in one hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds. So Sebastian beat that time. And the Kenyan runner shattered the previous official world record by 65 seconds wearing the Adi Zero Adios Evo. ⁓ my God, these shoes, these are special shoes. It's the Adidas pros Evo three shoes or whatever. They weigh less than a hundred grams. They're like close to like the weight of socks. That's how light they are. That's crazy. Yeah. Like I said, the previous record, the previous official world record was two hours and 35 seconds set by Kevin Kittnum in Chicago of 2023. If you're wondering how fast Sawy's average mile pace was, it was around four minutes and 34 seconds. As someone that has done two marathons, my mile time is like 10 minutes, 30 seconds. That guy, he's basically sprinting for under two hours doing 26 miles. That's insane. And I know the height and weight. Actually, let's get his height and weight. We'll do this mean the height probably doesn't matter, but the weight. He's gotta weigh not a lot. I think Kachobi was like 115 pounds. think that's like general when Jesus Christ. Yeah. That makes sense though. Can we not get his height and weight? People are taking... Is this not listed? I feel like this should be listed somewhere. You think? He's probably decently tall, but also probably decently light. Oh, actually do they not have his height and weight listed? I feel like if you set a world record, have to have your height and weight published. They just keep talking about the shoes. Obviously the shoes were important, but. All right. I'm going to take a, just a guess here. Just look at them. I'm going to say five. 10, five, nine. I'm going to say 140, a hundred. I'm going say actually like 130 pounds. Maybe. Might be lighter than that. That might be an overestimate. Did you say those 115? Uh, Kachoby. was 115. Yeah. guy that unsanctioned. Yeah. He's at least around that way. Obviously very skinny guys. I myself am like, you know, 200. I'm not going that fast in my marathons. Actually he could run two marathons in the time that it took me to run one. So pretty impressive stuff there. It's crazy. And you know what's even crazier about this? This is only his fourth marathon ever. He's 31 years old, fourth marathon ever, and he's already set the world record. And you know what? In the interview after he said, I think I can get 158. I think it's possible. Um, don't see why not. He also said, now that I've shown nothing is not possible. So I'm with him. believe 158 is possible. Um, he is 31 years old. His training regimen, he ran like 150 miles a week leading up to roughly around 150, some of like 120, some 150. That's pretty insane. Um, as far as like running miles a week, you divide that by seven. is 20 miles, something like that a day. Yeah. Wait, my, yeah. Yeah. Not a math podcast. We've said that before. and like I said, his shoes were the lightest in the history of the Adidas pro, um, Adidas reach out to us for a sponsorship and then I'll get the name right. I'm sorry. I apologize. Um, but his pre-race breakfast was bread and honey. Never heard of that one before. So I guess that for my next marathon, I am running one more. think I'm gonna do bread and honey. Maybe take a book out of, uh, Sebastian's page. No, probably hydrates. I just messed that up. I'm going to take a page out of Sebastian's book. said, I'm going to take a book out of his page. I caught that one before editing brain and caught that one. I can also work too. What? I can also work. his page. Take a bike out of his page. His page is your book. How about I take a bite out of his book? His page is your book. Yeah. I also wanted to give another shout out in this Brody of the week to Ethiopia's and I'm going to mess this name up. Yomif Kijelcha, he finished in second place in this marathon and he ran one hour, 59 minutes and 41 seconds. he's the second human. What? By one second? By 11 seconds. He was 30 seconds. ⁓ but he's the second human to ever run sub two hours. Obviously the first one was Sebastian Zay. So in the race, we've never seen it done before. Both these guys did it in the same time. And then the guy that finished in third place beat the world record, the previous like world record as well. But it was like two hours and 10 seconds or something. So people are getting faster. Shoes are getting better. We're getting more efficient as a species. Everyone just say like, this is like an crazy, this is like the craziest thing in running since like someone ran under a four minute mile, which was a while ago. But it's also a crazy thing about, I mean, if for the longest time it was theorized that It wasn't even possible to run a marathon in under two hours. ⁓ just, you know, people are now like more specially trained. I know we've always talked about like each year in the draft, even talking about, we, say like people are getting bigger, faster, stronger. And that's what we're seeing in the marathons too now. And the fact that it was his fourth marathon. I don't know like what his like pre-training was before we started running marathons, but ⁓ he's just apparently the different, his coach said like, noticed like. He's just a different breed than everyone else. And he get a little water mouth, a little dry after all that talking. You know didn't need water? Sebastian. Sebastian. I probably needed tons of water. I don't know how you could even drink water running that fast. don't know how you could do anything. I mean like, there's no stopping. There's four minutes, 30 seconds would probably be me like sprinting a mile. And he did that for 26. That's just insane. I don't know if I could even do four out four minutes, 30 seconds in a mile. That would be tough. Maybe that's a podcast punishment. You to try and beat Sebastian's mile time. It'd be the death of me. I could, I could probably hold it for like 20 seconds and then I would be like, all right, I need a breather. Yeah. I mean, you got to wait. Not that much, but still, even when you don't weigh a lot, still insane feet. Yeah. mean, like running a marathon, it's like, it's a big math equation of like, you know, the right carbohydrates that you're taking, the right sodium, the right, you just got to the right fuel going and whether you're doing like pickle juice or you got the special gels and you know, you got to make sure you're hydrating properly. Like it's, it's, mean, like they always see like the first one to 13 miles is pretty chill. And then like from that 15 to 20 miles, that's when like you see God pretty much. And then like from 20 to 26, it's It's a fun celebration. Not for me, my headphones died at like mile 20 when I ran it, but I just had a raw dog that the rest of the way. Speaking of Brody's of the week doing crazy feats. This one is a little bit younger. Carson Hosafar, 23 year old, wins his first NASCAR cup series win at Talladega on Sunday as well. ⁓ He won on the last lap. He was able to pass. And take it, he drives the number 77 Chevrolet, which we like the number 77 here. He's also sponsored by Chili's, which if you know me, anyone that knows me, I love Chili's. Chili's, if you want to sponsor a please reach out. don't mind Chili's. I think it's a great American restaurant. ⁓ But yeah, so after he won, really the Brody of Week, yeah, it's cool that he won, but I loved his celebration. He was sitting on the windowsill of his car. driving, taking a victory lap. And you're like, how is that possible? You can't reach the pedals. I'll include a picture of what it looked like on the podcast. Uh, but he was just going around sleuthing the crowd. Um, I believe I think NASCAR, once again, not the biggest NASCAR guy. I don't know too much about it. Um, but I believe he was able to set like the cruise control and go around. And then he finally just crashed it into the front wall in front of the fans and did a crazy burnout. But everyone was talking about, believe it was Dell Earnhardt or someone back in the day. think it was Dell Earnhardt. Junior, senior, I'm not really sure. They were just talking about it a little bit on the broadcast, but he was also sitting on the windowsill during like one of the, there was like a big crash and so they were under a caution and there was so many bugs on his windshield. He put the car in the same way and got on the windowsill, started cleaning his windshield and then got back in the car. So that was kind of a salute to that. ⁓ But I will say some people, May not like Carson. He's a polarizing figure. He's a little bit of a bad boy in the NASCAR world. A little eccentric. What? eccentric. A little bit. A lot of the veteran drivers don't like him. They say he causes too many crash ins. What's Carson's response to that? Get out of the way. If you don't want a quick crash, out of way. So between him and then we've talked about it before in the podcast, Tyler Reddick. I think NASCAR is finally getting some like just good characters that are like very entertaining to fans and they're fresh and they're polarizing. And I think NASCAR is in a good place. It's almost got me running. I want to kind of tune in to NASCAR now. I know they come to Texas Motor Speedway next. I think it's next weekend. ⁓ so I'm going to definitely be tuned into that and seeing if, ⁓ Carson or Tyler Reddick are able to pull it out. Also, there's another guy, Cletus McFarlane, who's coming up. He's like a YouTuber. He's on like their little cup series. It's like the not the Not the big NASCAR yet, but he's on the one before that. But he was also leading Talladega in his race. And so he's another, another figurehead coming up, but he's like a big YouTuber. Yeah, dude. love Cletus Mafferlin. Yeah. it's, dude, he makes some insane cars. Yeah. he customizes them, makes them like insanely like powerful horsepower wise. And I feel like this is almost like what NASCAR was missing. It's almost like golf for a little bit after Tiger left. And then finally Scotty came around like. People want someone that they can root for someone that they can like, you know, say like, they want someone that's going to be actually competing, but also like is a fun character. And it's like the, that's what NASCAR is finally getting now. So shout out Carson, absolutely. ⁓ being a polar, a polar figure. said like, I've crashed a bunch of times and I've finally figured it out. So we'll be able to see what he can do the rest of way between him and, Tyler Reddick. I think NASCAR is in a good place. That sounds fun, dude. And actually, yeah, but Matt, let's get into your brodies of the week. ⁓ I'll start with Nelly Korda, player for the LPGA. She just won her second Chevron championship, which is a major for the LPGA. is her third major. ⁓ she is as of Monday, she's the world number one for the LPGA. She has 17 tour wins, three major wins, two are from the Chevron championship. ⁓ she has 80 career top tens and she's missed the cut 19 times. Which if you're very invested into PGA, this might, these stats might sound kind of familiar. They're kind of similar to, ⁓ Mr. Scotland Scheffler, who is also the world number one for PGA. Scheffler? Mr. Scotty Scheffler, Scotland Scheffler. Four major wins, two of the same major, obviously two masters. He's got 20. To her 17 tour wins has got 81, period top wins to her 80. And they've both, they've both missed the, ⁓ missed the cut 19 times. And they just did a YouTube video together. Yeah. I saw, ⁓ Taylor made had like some like, ⁓ it was battle on the chef or something is what it's called, but it was basically Nelly Cordova versus Scottie Scheffler. And it was like iron play. ⁓ I actually don't know if I finished and figure out who won, but, ⁓ it was just good to see the obviously now. both world number ones going at it. Yeah. I mean, it's, you know, I don't know too much about the PGA and I know even less about the LPGA, but it's just fun to see comparable players, you know, in professional sports, especially when it's the same sport from different genders. Well, I'm surprised she's just, you said she just became the world number one. She's world number one as of Monday. Oh, I mean, like I've thought she was like, she's been the world number one for a while. I mean, they're probably was, but now they're both the number one and they're respected. They're respected. Obviously they're respective support. makes sense. I've always seen like her doing the videos with a tiger and Rory. And then now the video is Scotty. Like she's your cut. Yeah. The kisser cut. Yeah. It's your cut, dude. You know, you know about that. Don't shout to my, my tick tock that I made. Don't plug yourself. You can't plug yourself on your own. Listen, the only plug I'm making is the Brody pod plug, but You want to see my kisser cut. It's on my own TikTok page now. Shout out Mrs. Korda. Shout out Mrs. Korda. Shout out Mr. Scheffler. Shout out Mr. Scheffler. fans. Beat the chef. We might, we might consider a, like a lab. knows? Yeah. Nelly Korda and Scotty Scheffler versus me and that'd be kind of close. I, yeah, if they give us 50 strokes. I'm gonna say 20 strokes. Oh, that's very generous. Appreciate that. From the tips. No, from the tips we need 50 strokes. 50 strokes from whatever. Yeah. It's the goats, dude. Maybe we'll do me and Nelly versus you and Scotty. That might be more fair. Oh, GGs. Yeah. GGs. I got the goat on my team. I got the goat. That's the debate. Who's the real goat, Scotty or Nelly? Yeah, man. Scotty's kind of been falling apart lately. He's only finished second place in two tournaments. Oh, yeah, only. Yeah. What a shame for him, dude. He's only making two million instead of four. Poor guy. struggling. He just had a second kid, dude. He's struggling for money. Yeah, tough one there. Tough scene. Anyways, my second Brody will, I assume, lead us into our next segment. Teasing segments. Teasing. You know, I love teasing. Yeah. The Tyson brothers, Jordan and Jalen, they made history as of... Thursday, Thursday night. Jordan Tyson just got drafted eighth overall by the New Orleans saints. The NFL draft. I love that. I love that more than you do. I know I love it more than you do. I don't think so buddy. I know you got the saints helmet on, but I was high on Jordan Tyson. Yeah. After he destroyed Texas tech. Yeah. I said it last podcast. said, I he was like, if, if not the best receiver in the draft. Oh, he was fully healthy. He does have some injured concerns, but I see the hearing over there. Why does she ever out of Arizona state drafted by the saints? ⁓ and actually his brother was drafted last year by the Cleveland Cavaliers, ⁓ got drafted 20th overall, ⁓ Jalen Tyson. didn't know that he had a brother in the NBA. Yeah, it's fun. That wasn't on the, that wasn't on the scouting report at all for him. Yeah. His dad just got to have some. Some crazy genes going on in the Tyson family. Uh, they became their first siblings to be drafted in the first round of different sports. Yeah. I have siblings. mean, that's crazy. Yeah. mean, like my brother are getting drafted in the first round. I mean, it's not like there, there's a lot of siblings in the same sport. Football, basketball, MLB. Yeah. But from one, for one sibling to, you know, specifically play basketball, then one of them to. do football and then them both to get drafted in the first round of professional league. they be the best siblings to ever come out of college? Cause I don't know who else would be in that consideration. Obviously like the Manning brothers, but they're in the same sport. ⁓ you're talking about different sports. mean, obviously they might have the best, they might have the best chance. ⁓ that's a exceptional question. Exceptional. Well, we'll get it. We'll get a research department on that promptly. But since they're both drafted in the first round, they should have the best chance to be the best brother duo. Different sports. ⁓ I just wonder if they could play the same sport. Like had Jordan be that good at basketball or could Jalen be that good at football and still be drafted, you know, that highly. see Jalen Tyson is six six Jordan Tyson. think he's like, at least that tall. think he's a no he's six two. They different builds. don't know if that would work out well. ⁓ I guess he's a guard. He's a guard for the Cavs. Yeah, like Jordan Tyson might be too small. mean, he's not too small. 6'2 is, you can play basketball, but you gotta be like Steph Curry shooting capabilities. I got trapped in first round. You can't have to shoot like that. Jalen Tyson, you can take him, put him at tight end and be a problem. Also shout out, I think, are these guys hometown? Yeah, they're both from Allen. Shout out the hometown guys. Allen? Hometown brothers right there. That's crazy. That's fun. That's next door to us, huh? Yeah, that's right down the street. next Thanksgiving, let's get an interview, fellas. Yeah. Let's get something going. Let's something on the books. The problem is their seasons are conflicting. We got to find a time when they're actually maybe like July. July, we could probably get something worked out. July 4th, open invite to the Tyson brothers on the podcast. One of them or both of them might be playing on Thanksgiving this year. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Like we got to get like when the NBA and NFL season aren't happening. It be like July, early August. I'll shoot him a DM. Well, and let's see, I guess let's see how far the Cavs go too. We're going to talk about that a little bit on the podcast. might, it be sooner than we think. They might need Jordan Tyson to come play basketball for them. Uh, but great, great brodies of the week, Matt, we will come back and we will do some NFL draft recap. And then, uh, the rest of show, we'll be talking some playoffs going around the NHL and NBA. So with that, we will see y'all in a second. All right. We're back to do an NFL draft recap and we're going to let our little nerd or little football draft nerd run with this one. Matt. Yes, sir. Where do want to start with the draft? We want to kind of go through the first round. We'll go through the Saints picks. I know you, you love the Saints. So. I mean, if we actually, let me ask you this. Yes, sir. Get the saints a grade. I've seen everyone's been given their team today. I know unbiased or biased. ⁓ let me hear biased. Hey. Okay. Unbiased. B plus. Okay. Are they going to say a as well? No, I, I'm not going to get into it because it should take all day. Yeah. We'll do, we'll do a brief summary of it. I think they did a pretty good job addressing the immediate needs, which is helping Tyler Shuck in that horrendous offense that we had this year. No. Obviously, Jordan Tyson, first round. ⁓ Which I've already said, I'm taking him in my fantasy football drafts. Yeah. He's taking claim. He's going to have competition with Chris Olave, but he's still going to be, he might end up being, I love Chris Olave. Injuries aside, if he's fully healthy, Jordan Tyson will be the best receiver on that team. Oh, crystal live. got to take a number two role on the team. Not this year. So you're okay. Well, actually maybe you don't want to draft. No, I'm taking away number one this year. Uh, maybe we'll see how the training camp goes. He's He's fully healthy man. don't know. It's just injuries. That's all thing with the draft and stuff. And you got to pick and choose when you want to, know, uh, I I risk on a player. A lot of these guys have injury history, which a lot of the NFL players do as well. But just because they get injured in college, doesn't mean they're going to get injured in the pros. I don't think somebody can be injury prone. I don't think that's a thing. I just think they get unlucky. ⁓ Anthony Davis. mean, he's the outlier. That's like, guess maybe you could have like a tendency for like weak. I don't muscles, stuff like that, but tendons like ACL ACLs and stuff like that. Maybe after you tear the first one, maybe there's a risk at the. He's got weak muscles. Oh, okay. I'll put that on the clip. okay, let's get, let's, let's, let's we're, beating around the bush here. Let's get into the recap here. So the first recap I do, this is dealing with the saints, but this is a fun, a little tidbit. This is family ties. the sands. Obviously my Brody, they drafted Jordan Tyson, his brothers, ⁓ Jaylen Tyson, NBA player on the calves. ⁓ and the fourth round they drafted Bryce Lance who his brother you should know very well. ⁓ Is Tray Lance quarterback. They want the same school, North Dakota state. ⁓ I mean, not to get into it too much. mean, they're brothers. Like it's fun. Bryce Lance ran like a four, three, four, something like that. So what position is Bryce Lance play? ⁓ right. Okay. Good question. Yeah. ⁓ Bryce Lance is like, he's like six, three. think that's probably helping. think Tray Lance might be taller than that. Maybe when they were growing up. Bryce Lance was running routes for Tray Lance and that's why they just got into the position. Very athletic, very athletic. I, yeah, that's fun. I probably, love drafting siblings because in this fifth round, it's the same strapped to Lorenzo Styles Jr. Who this might sound familiar. Sunny Styles. The commanders drafted in the first round, Sunny Styles. ⁓ so you guys are drafting like little brothers. We're drafting little brother. we could say the saints are little brothers of the league. I mean, could be. No, it not could be. You guys are. Little bros. Well, bros can outshine the big bros. we'll see. We'll see. Okay. Um, yeah, I saw you had something down. Oh yeah. So the next problem is going to let you get into that. Yep. So the Cowboys draft, I'm not going to lie. I only know like the first two picks kind of, um, The rest of it, really wasn't able to catch too much. But in the first round, we got the guy that I wanted. I was either Sonny Stiles or Caleb Downs. We ended up trading up one spot to 11 and get Caleb Downs, who I thought he's the smartest defender in the league. I saw Malik Nabors. I saw the clip of him with Micah Parsons, and he looked like he was very upset that he was going to have to play Caleb Downs twice a year. also Caleb Downs just in his opening press conference for the Cowboys. ⁓ Not only thank God, but he immediately shouted out his mom and his dad and his sister. So shout out family man there. He's absolutely, I'm so excited for the Cowboys defense now. It looks like we finally got some help. In the second round they go, who was it? went Malachi Lawrence, ⁓ edge out of UCF. Don't know too much about him other than, you know, I saw a couple of highlights, looks like a good player. And then the rest of the guys, I'm sure the Cowboys know what they're talking about. You we found Dak Prescott in the fourth round, you know, we're gonna be a good team. But I was just so pumped about the Caleb Downs. I was actually watching it with a couple of buddies out at the softball fields and we were just all, we were jacked when Caleb Downs ended up falling to the Cowboys. So I think that's gonna be a great pick for us. I saw, I think last podcast we were, we were mocked to take Dylan Thiamin, which, know, a of them think he's gonna be a good player, but. He's going to be in Chicago. Exactly. don't, I don't need to know his name. And all I need to know is countdowns. Yeah. They pick a DACA office next year though. Yep. Yep. So I think that's going to be, I think that's for the Cowboys. If I had to give them a draft grade just on the first round pick, I'd give them an A. Dude, A plus. Some Cowboys fans are already saying this is our year. Pump the brakes a little bit. All right. It's never been our year. Maybe. Yeah. Fantastic pick. What I'm going to talk about is the, the draft surprises, but yeah, Caleb Downs that obviously was a big surprise. mean, not a big surprise because he's a safety and safety's usually don't go that high just based off of, you know, the draft, ⁓ the position needs and. I also saw on Twitter that it was going around that now the entire Ohio state's defense from wherever they won the national championship has been drafted between, ⁓ last year and this year. Yeah, they won the national championship two years ago. So that's just insane of how talented that defense was. But Caleb Downs was obviously one of the leaders of that defense and he's a really good player. And I'm in Sonny Stiles. I was going to be happy with either of those guys, which I am upset. Sonny Stiles did go to the commanders, but we'll deal with that when we have to play him twice a year. You know what I'm upset about? It's all trading with the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, that was weird. I normally don't see like a trade with the end division opponents, but especially now with like a big rival. Like I could see it with like the commanders maybe or the. So if anyone doesn't know the trade that went down, the Eagles, the Cowboys had the 20th pick, the Eagles traded up, took Malachi Lemon and the Cowboys draft or went back to 23 and drafted Malachi Lawrence. So that's essentially, think honestly with that whole thing with AJ Brown that we were talking about, like Mackay Lemon. Mackay, Lemon, Malachy, Lawrence, Malachy, Lemon coming in and being a receiver with Devontae Smith. I think they're going to be set up well. I am interested to see because he is a little bit shorter, but you know, Devontae Smith is probably going to be more of the down filled threat. And then Malachy, Lemon is going to be like that, that in between guy for him. Is a big, ⁓ big slot receiver threat. But I just thought it was interesting that maybe the Eagles could have traded with, you know, one of the other teams around. that 20th pick, the trade I was just, I just surprised that, you know, the individual trade happened in the first round, especially. I'm glad we didn't lose our first round pick. Like if they would have traded back and gotten like two second rounds or three thirds or whatever it was going to be, like I would have been really upset with that. I wanted to make sure we still had two first ground picks. So the fact that it worked out that way and it sounds like they got the gut they were wanting with, ⁓ with, ⁓ with Lawrence. I will see what happens with them. I, once again. Caleb Downs was the highlight of the draft for me. Yeah. And I think I'll got the two fourths. ⁓ and that the draft compensation as well. But anyways, three fourth round picks, but yeah. Yeah. But you got two from, yeah, we got two. Yeah. Anyways. So draft surprises. ⁓ I'm, this is just kind of an order as, as they happened. think the first one was probably carnell tate. Off the board at number four, ⁓ to the Titans. ⁓ I mean, the surprise isn't that, currently it was a first receiver off the board, but it was just a shock to see him at number four overall. the Titans. Cause the Titans were mocked to take David Bailey or Arville Reese. Yeah, they're going to take, it was kind of just best play available. And I don't know if Colonel Tate was at, but Arville Tate did slide the Giants. At number five, is my next, uh, draft surprise. Um, so Avril Reese at number five to the Giants. They're obviously very elated that they did slide. Um, he arguably like the best player in the draft. I think it was mock to the Cardinals for a lot of the year. Best player in the draft after Caleb Downs. Yeah, man, for sure. Yeah. And after Jordan Tyson. Yeah, after Jordan Tyson. But I mean, he did, he was not only to the Cardinals, he was mocked to the, ⁓ the jets as well. Yeah. The jets going David Bailey second overall. That was impressive. They just, guess the judge just wanted to appear Ed rusher, which I release is that, but he's also off the ball linebacker, ⁓ kind of the best of both worlds. That's bad for David Bailey getting drafted to the jets. That's like the highest state income tax that you got drafted to. I mean, it's New York. It's going to be millionaire. doesn't matter. Third overall. kidding me? It's like Fernando Mendoza doesn't have any. In Las Vegas, I don't believe. Caleb Downs also doesn't have any. That's for a third overall. You're getting like 20 plus. Yeah. It was really not going to make a difference. Anyways, probably the biggest surprise of the NFL draft was the Los Angeles Rams drafting your boy, Tyler Simpson, quarterback of Alabama. Yeah, this was, I know we mentioned it last that he was attending because there was talks that he was going to go in the first round. I thought it was going be at the end of the first round, not halfway through it. I, I thought if you went in the first round, it would have been a team trading back up into the first round at like the end of the twenties. Yeah. Something like that. But I don't think anyone had them go into the Rams of all teams, especially with Sean McVeigh. ⁓ you. kind of see on his face, everyone was making the memes of he didn't look very excited. Now he did go back on, I think it was day two or day three, and he did like an interview and he's like, no, listen, we're, excited obviously to have Ty Simpson. ⁓ but obviously we're rocking with Matthew Stafford until Matthew Stafford doesn't want to play football anymore, but we just want to have a planning for the future. And I, know, the best time to get a quarterback is not when you're looking for a quarterback. I mean, Matthew Stafford, 40 something years old. Had those injuries last season leading into the season, freaking fly, had some injuries leading last season with the lower back and wasn't able to really do any of the OTAs that were going on. So I think this is just kind of like a contingency of like, if Matt Stafford goes down, at least we have someone that knows how to at least play football. Now how well and how fast he is going to be transferred into the starting role. We'll see, it takes a, you know, He got put in a great situation. It's almost like when Patrick Mahomes initially got drafted, was behind Alex Smith in Kansas city. sat for a year. Ty Simpson probably sit released a year, if not two, depending on how long Matthew Stafford wants to play the rest of the year or play the rest of his career. Yeah. I, uh, I did see a Tommy phase reaction to this and that the presser and stuff. think this just might've been a less neat pick. A GM pick over. Who Sean McVay might've wanted be Sean McVay probably didn't want quarterback at 13 overall, but less need might just be thinking about, you know, the future. the Rams are also like, want to compete for a Superbowl. And if they win a Superbowl this year, it won't be with Ty Simpson under quarterback. Yeah. But I mean, they could have used. it could have been a day one starter at 13 for them. Yeah. Like Malachi Lemon, someone that they were. Mocked to take. Mocked out Lemon. They're at an offensive tackle. You know, corner. I mean, I guess they don't need corner that badly after this offseason, but something like that. I mean, yeah, like you said, Stafford isn't going to be the forever. Sepsis, very good player, very good quarterback. Had a very good first half of the season for Alabama. said he was the best quarterback in the draft. He did say that. He did say that. For sure. said that, but, ⁓ you know, they're not going to be picking a 13 next year. So I guess they're just taking advantage of how high they're picking. Right. Speaking of somebody who was taking advantage of how higher they're picking. And they made Buccaneers. I said, this might've been best of both worlds. They might be picking this high next year, but still a fantastic player fell to them in Ruben Bane. Short arms Ruben Bane. Short arms Ruben Bane. What? Is this pick 16 15 15. Nope. Which is like absurd because he was mocked. Which this tells you how reliable mock drafts are going forward. Everybody watching this mock drafts are not reliable in any sense of the word. This isn't, it's never going to be right, but this is just what like the mocks are just what we'll think are going to happen. Probably in some cases might should happen. But, Matt, cut out for a second. Oh no. Last we heard was mock drafts aren't reliable. Right. They're not, they're not reliable. Uh, I say, thought it was funny. The message you sent to our group chat of like, if this, if anyone would have brought this mock draft to me of what actually was happening, you would have been like, you're smoking crack. Dude, absolutely. And that's what's so fun about mock draft is you know, this is going to be wrong. But you're just so adamant that this is going to be right. You're just so convinced that this team is going to take this player, this position. They need it so badly. It's just never really the case. ⁓ you know, arm length, apparently, obviously does matter, especially for edge and offensive tackle. There's a kind of maybe cornerback as well, but I mean, Ruben Bane even Despite his short arms, was mocked top like eight for every like mock draft that I saw. That was the saints that are very, you know, as needy team. Um, him falling not only out of the top 10, out of the top 12 to 15 is generally, it's absurd. And he's a hometown guy. he just played in Miami. I remember when we were talking about the national championship, like I said he had like the quickest jump off the ball and he, someone that just like that one play, I still go back to it against Ohio state when he was able to create that turnover very quickly for them and was able to get off the ball so quick. Also, he had probably the best walkout ⁓ of anyone going through, you know, like they have the hat set up. He just walked through, grabbed the hat and walked straight to the stage. Just absolutely looked pissed off. I've heard interviews about him and he's just like, he doesn't care where he got drafted. saw it in his interview that he did not care where he got drafted. He's like, I'm more worried about making the open day roster. Yeah. would make the, the, the starting roster. That's the thing about him. doesn't care the outside. He doesn't need external motivation is what he said. He has enough internal motivation to propel him to, you know, the next level. It doesn't matter that it doesn't matter that 14 teams passed on him. He's gonna be just as good as he is, you know. How do you think Tyler Shuck is gonna be able to do playing him twice a year now? Are you worried at all? Even with the internal motivation he's gonna have? You know who has internal motivation? Kevin Banks and Taliesa Fuonga. Well, those are the Saints' other picks? No, those are offensive tackles. okay. They have external motivation to not let They better have long arms. ⁓ they got long arms. Longer than Ruben Mayne. might have longer arms from Ruben Mayne. Anyways, next one might be something you don't know too much about. Caleb Banks. At number 18. Defensive tackle out of Florida. I mean, he had a lot of question marks coming in because he did have a broken foot, which I guess could be a big red flag for some teams. when did he break his foot? Before the I guess. I don't know when during the season. Was it within the last calendar year? Yes, he had a broken foot during the combine. And he still went out and tested. He tested well? Well enough I he was in the first round. He ran a 501, 40 or dash. Alright well. A defensive tackle. We'll see. So Minnesota Vikings took a chance on him, which obviously I think a lot of the mocks had the in them in. or Themon, going to the Vikings. They need secondary help, but they taking the chance on a very good athletic defensive broken foot defensive tackle. Yeah, and that's why like he was never in any first round mock, which is why I'm saying these guys are like surprises because either they fell or either they weren't supposed to go this high or maybe they felt too far. I don't know. But the next one. Maybe on Terrell kind of went where he should have gone and where a lot of people wanted him to go was to the Atlanta Falcons. ⁓ he joins his brother, AJ Terrell. They both play cornerback. Now they're both playing for the Atlanta Falcons. And apparently they're both from Atlanta, Georgia. That was a hometown. And also not to mention they both played for Clemson. Super hometown. mean, having your brother. is Clemson in? Oh, Clemson's like South Carolina, think. Yeah. Don't come from me Clemson people. Sorry. Carolina's, one of the Carolina's. But I mean, dude, having your brother opposite Saudi playing the same position on the same NFL team. I don't know if AJ Terrell had any. It's going to be good chemistry on that team. Exactly. I don't know if AJ had any, you know. I like the next bullet point you have here. Carson Beck first pick in the third round to the Cardinals. I'm guessing he's going to be the day one starter for the Cardinals now. ⁓ Absolutely not. Well, who do the Cardinals have at quarterback? Kobe Brissett. ⁓ yeah, I had to have Kobe Brissett. They do have to work out the contract details with him. What's going on with the contract? I used to kind of hold him out a little bit. And you think he deserves a little bit more than I guess they're offering. Which after, you know, back half of the season that he played, he played very well. It wasn't the offense. That was the reason the Cardinals were losing games. ⁓ he made Michael Wilson look like he's a wide receiver one, even though they have, ⁓ Marvin Harrison Jr. On the same team. Obviously he helped, ⁓ Trey McBride, you know, make an all pro team. ⁓ even though, you know, training that ride still really good regardless, but I think we could see something where we're going to see Carson Beck play this first year for the Falcons. they're going to need a quarterback. know Jacoba sets there. Well, now I know that he's there that you met, said something about it. ⁓ but it's, I think we're going to see kind of something similar, like what happened with Chidor. Obviously Carson Beck's not going to be the fifth string quarterback, but there's going to come a point in time in the Cardinal season where they're going to hit the new quarterback button and it's going to be. Carson back to the rescue and we'll see, you know, whether the Miami team just made him look a lot better than he was, or if he's actually able to cut it out in the NFL. What's also crazy is like last year he was mocked to go in the first round and then he went back to college for another year. That's what I was going to say. He, I, he should have declared last year because his year in Miami, tanked his stock, put it on the first year. ⁓ last year, like Tysimsa did this year. I don't know if, I mean, Tyson's second half of the year didn't look good. It was just like, Carson Beck, at his time at Miami, just not as good as he was at Georgia. Um, I think he might find a situation similar to, you know, Kirk Cousins and the Raiders with Mendoza. Do them Mendoza is a lot better. There was a, but he, don't, he's not, I don't think he's going to play this year. It's just, they have a, you know, good, better than quarterback there. I'm not sure the Raiders want to put him in that situation. Who Mendoza? don't think Mendoza is going to play this year? I'd be surprised. Mendoza will play this year. Okay. He's the first overall pick. will play this year. Clip it chat. Clip it and ship it. Please. think Jessica's the first overall he's going to play. Yes. If you're the first overall quarterback. Not even just like the first quarterback ticket. If you're the first overall pick in a draft, you will play in the next year. was a fifth. Tridor was a fifth round pick last year and played. The Browns have been awful for 20 years. So I have the Raiders. The Raiders had the first overall pick for a reason. Kirk Cousins didn't even start at the start of last year, but. They Kirk Cousins in for a reason. I say Mendoza is taking snaps as a starter by week four. Yeah. I'll bet you a hundred dollars. about loser has to do the 430 mile. How about loser gives the other one a thousand dollars. Clip a chat. I'll put up a hundred bucks right now. Week four? Yeah, week four. All right, let's do it. Absolutely. I'm sorry, Cousins, I'm going to be rooting against you. You know how beneficial it is for a rookie quarterback to sit behind a veteran for at least a year? Yeah, but the Raiders are going to want to see him. It might not be week four, but I mean, might want to see him this year. The fans might want to see him. That's all. That's all his owners need to know that the fans want to see him. Owners care about the future of the team. Very few owners care about he's going to struggle so hard, He's not like a Trevor Lawrence, like a Peyton Manning, like a Andrew Luck, like a certified bonafide. You got to put them in at some point. They don't want to win now. The team isn't built to win. Although they made great moves as off season had a good draft. They're not going to put them in. The only one out of the quarterbacks that will not start this year is Ty Simpson. Ty Simpson is the only quarterback out of the three we've talked about that won't start this year. Unless there's an injury to Matthew Stafford, then obviously he's going to get in. But Carson back. Fernando will be starters by the end of the year if Carson Beck sniffs the turf I'll give you $50 They play on grass in Arizona. So if Carson Beck sniffs a grass blade I'll send you 50 bucks All right You know quarterbacks you set right? Yes Your beloved Tony Ramos said yeah Patrick Mahomes said Dak Prescott sat for six games and came in and took Tony Romo spot. It was a completely different situation. Completely different situation, brother. Okay. What about. Caleb Williams first overall pick Matthew Stafford first overall pick. Yeah. Look how good they were the first year. You got to start Peyton Manning first overall pick. Good. They were the first year. Yeah. But look what happened in their career. Look at Peyton Manning's first year. Most interceptions for a rookie ever. I mean, that definitely probably helped him in his career, I'm saying turn into a hall of famer. So has Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, but they said behind quarterbacks that were good, like Ty Simpson sitting behind Matthew Stafford for an anima doses sitting behind Kirk Hussins. Very good quarterback. Yes. One playoff win. Back press. I don't care about playoffs. It's a quarterback. Okay. Knock that. Good regular season quarterback. You you can't argue that. Back press got set behind Tony Romo. Very good quarterback. six games or whatever it was. That's an apparently it was enough. Well, that's what I'm saying. You're saying you're going to sit the whole year. Like obviously will they roll them out there week one? Probably not week one. Also we lucked into one of the best offensive lines in the history of football. I'll say this unless Kirk Cousins is undefeated. Fernando Mendoza will start. No winning has nothing to do with it. Yes, it does. No, it doesn't. Not when you just pick number one overall. You think they, they signed Kirk for like 20 million dollars for back up. Exactly. For a couple of games. I'm not saying if they start Mendoza, he's going to be awful. This is, this is turning. I'm not saying he's going to start. I'm not going to rise. Yes. were this polarized. He's going to be awful, but like they signed, uh, Tyler Landerbom to be the center of that offensive line. That's the only help they have given for the offensive line. The rest is like, they've hit some pieces. It's still going to be horrendous. You do not want to put your future helpful franchise quarterback behind a offensive line that is horrendously awful. But put yourself in a Raiders fan shoes. I don't care about the fans. ⁓ put that on the card right there. Matt doesn't care about the fans. sides with the owners, not me. I'm with the fans. If I'm a fan, put Mendoza out there day one. But if I'm a coach, if I'm a coach, if I'm an owner, if I want the best out of my players, I want Mendoza to sit at least a year. Let's see how the preseason goes because he definitely will probably start the preseason games. We'll know real quick whether Mendoza can make it or not. Obviously they're not signing Kirk to be their guy, to be their starter. mean, obviously be their starter, but not to like lead them anywhere other than the first show or a pick next year. Exactly. Exactly. Why would they not want to hit the new quarterback button this year? Whenever they're like a couple of games in Mendoza's They're not ready. They just picked it number one. Obviously your team is not ready. know. Mendoza isn't going to change them to Be a playoff team or a born to win playoff year was bad and then he went to the playoffs the next year. Like you gotta get these guys the experience in the first Okay, give him one year then. He's already an older quarterback. Caleb Williams, that's different scenario. Okay. The Bears team when they dropped it and that was a lot better for the team. Well, the Raiders... His Raiders team is genuinely horrendous. Horrific. We'll see. All right. Let's, I think that's enough of that talk. Let's let's skim through the rest of these because we are doing a little too long on the Yeah. I was on the draft talk. a lot, there's Bears, speaking of the Bears, they went tight end in the third round. I thought that was a surprise because they have Colkommat and rookie standout Colson Loveland. This tight end they drafted is not going to really see that much field time, maybe, you know, blocking. Nothing like that. They just, he's going to be third string. Same route. Yeah, out of Stanford. Good tight end. don't know why they took him in the third round. At least I don't know what the Bears did. Yeah. Drew Allard. You talk about a guy who could see the field in his first year. It's Drew Allard. That's crazy. What do mean? That's crazy. You said Drew Allard is going to see the field. Are you saying Drew Allard? I want to get back on this. You're saying Drew Allard is going to see the field before Fernando Mendoza? Yeah. That's crazy. Absolutely. Really? Will Howard and. Maybe Rogers, maybe he hasn't even signed. He hasn't even said anything. It's we're through the draft. He hasn't said a word. There's a way to rally. All right, we'll see. They drafted Jarrell out of Notre Dame, right? Penn State. Yeah, Penn State. Yeah. Casual, casual hometown to Fucking casual. Didn't even have to drive that far, ⁓ What? I say, what's the next one? ⁓ This one. If we're talking pre-season, this is probably the biggest surprise of the draft. Jerome McCoy, cornerback out of Tennessee, falling to the fourth round ⁓ when he was projected to be the best cornerback in this draft. I know he didn't play at all this past season, but his 2024 tape was phenomenal. He had rivaled Mansour Delaney of this year. ⁓ just the injuries, injury reasons, the knee, he felt a 101 in the draft top of the fourth, the Raiders, shout out Raiders building around Mendoza. And then Mr. Cade Clubnick to the Jets at 110. Just taking a flyer on them. Another quarterback off the board. Yeah. I mean, Jets have nothing to lose. Yeah. Geno Smith, Geno Smith at the helm. got nothing. They did a lot this off season though. A lot of signings. Um, Clubnick got a clenching. Okay. Sure. In the fourth round, I guess. Why not? And then one of my draft favorites, Taylor Green. ⁓ you know, six, six to 30 around the four threes. Incredible athlete quarterback out of Arkansas quarterback. Yeah. Quarterback. Yeah. What are you going to say? Say something. That's what he's going to be a quarterback. Yeah. No, no, Say what you want to say. No, he's going to be a quarterback. That's what he told John Gruden and the QB camp. That's John Gruden told him. Yeah. Said stay quarterback. John Gruden known quarterback whisperer. Yeah. That's what he told Mr. Green. quarterback drafted by the route by the Browns number 182 overall, six round competition for Shador. You're damn right. is. What else is there? It's the Browns man. And the, coat. Yeah. A quarterback. And then Garrett Nussmeyer. Yeah. Spoil it. That's your, that's your guy. Mr. Nussmeyer, which is the reason this is a surprise. Maybe not to you, but pre-draft. Mocks were preseason mocks, pre-college season mocks. Nussmeyer was certified lock first round. was a Heisman candidate. He was top. There were mocks with him at first overall. And he fell to the seventh, not only the seventh round, the ninth to the last pick, the 249th pick of the draft to the Kansas City Chiefs. She uses a great situation to go it go into he's going to be sitting for a year under Patrick Mahomes. Actually Patrick Mahomes is no, he's going to be starting. Unfortunately. Okay. What are you laughing? Nothing. You're just to start. You are, you are a quarterback guru. Who's going to start? Uh, who do they sign from the Jets? Justin Fields. Yeah. I think they're going to start Justin Fields. I think he started over Gary Dussmeyer. I mean, I don't see the reason why to start fields in the nice one. This is the number one overall pick next year. I'm not going to get into it, but you're going to get into it. That's my, yeah. He was injured all year oblique, which if you don't know, you need that muscle to throw the football. All right. So we're going to see what the chief's getting him. His 2024 tape, just like your mom McCoy was exceptional. If McCoy and Nesmire were in the last year's draft, they would have gone substantially higher. Unfortunately, they just dealt with injuries this past season. So that's why they fell. Yep. And then I had one standout I wanted to mention on the podcast. Brennan Thompson, wide receiver out of Mississippi state. Gets picked in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Chargers. This was full on a Mike McDaniel pick. I saw how excited he was. Mike Mcdales, big speed guy. We've seen what he did with Tyra Kill. Brennan Thompson was the fastest receiver, had the fastest 40 yard time at the combine. Absolute speed guy was the top receiver at Mississippi State. I love that pick for the Chargers, what they're getting in him. He's also a hometown guy. Know the family well. So shout out Brennan Thompson. And also he's very into boats. He bought a boat with some of the NIL money that he has. It turns out he's gonna need a bigger boat because he's going to be your in the ocean by the Los Angeles. So, know who the, the second fastest time for that? dude. No, no. Who? So you guys get the second fastest. You guys just continue to be little bro. Yeah, dude. Four to seven. That's a little bro. Yeah. ⁓ and then final for the draft talk, Diego Pavia quarterback goes undrafted. Speaking of who's going to start day one. Speaking of who thought they were going to probably start day one, Diego Pavia has accepted an invite to Raven's mini camp to compete for a roster spot. There's been a lot of the memes going around of him working at McDonald's or Walmart. I don't want to kick a guy ways down, man. I that was kind of insulting. They invited him to the mini camp and not the regular sized camp. That's see, you're just kicking a man why he's down at that. That's crazy. Um, but everyone there's been a lot of surfacing. Listen, you gotta be a little humble. You're going through the draft process. He was not that he there's the famous clip of him telling John Gruden that he didn't hire an agent because he didn't want someone taking five to 10 % of his money. Turns out he's not getting, how about zero? How about zero? We'll see what he's able to do in the mini camp. I don't think a lot of people have their expectations high, but you know, Hopefully I'd like to see him make a roster. know he's going through a little bit of turbulence, we should say with the internet right now. So Diego Pavia hopefully finds a roster spot. I don't know if the Ravens, that's a tough roster to make, especially since they're so locked with Lamar Jackson, but they're just taking a flyer on them. He's not there to start. Is there to be a backup third string similar skill set? Which just means she's super athletic. think if like there weren't any character concerns, he'd probably get drafted. Yeah. I mean, the workout thing's there, like what he did in New Mexico state and then going to Vanderbilt and leading them on some of the biggest wins in program history. Like the dude is a good player. It's just some of the character stuff with him. Once again, we don't know Diego Pavia like that. Maybe he's really good and just like the persona that he puts out there on the internet isn't that well, but, ⁓ just. Was it a good look also, there was the thing going around of his, uh, as a, what was it? Draft room where he had all the NFL hats out and then he's going draft. That's tough. that makes you feel for the kid. Yeah. He's still a kid with a dream, you know, of making a roster. He's got a chance now. He's just, it's all up to him now. Yeah, we're not going to kick a guy for chase history. I'm just thought some of the jokes that the internet had once again, internet remains undefeated, but this too shall pass and he will be, you know, he'll get a couple of shots. Maybe the XFL. If the NFL doesn't work out, the XFL has become a very good possibility for team for guys to get a chance and then make it to an NFL team. We've seen it with just in the past with some of the players that have come out of there, whether I know just on the Cowboys side, like Turpin and Aubrey, there's two guys that have become big players for the Cowboys and they came out of the XFL. So. Hopefully, Diego Pavia, you know, he'll get it figured out. Matt Corral. Yeah, so Matt Corral. He's drafted in the NFL and now he's starting quarterback for an XFL team. So, I mean, it's a feasible option now. That's what we're trying to UFL. UFL. Yeah, UFL, XFL, one of the alternative football leagues. But with that, Matt, we need take a break real quick before we come back and some NBA and then NHL. All right, let's do that. NFL draft Robert Kraft Houston get in the shaft Lakers and five We're back for some quick little recap of the NBA playoffs and NHL playoffs Starting off we're starting off in the NBA LA Lakers are currently up 3-1 against the Houston Rockets as this show drops on Wednesday They are playing Wednesday night. I believe it's like 9 p.m. Or something I think they're back in Los Angeles and the Lakers have the possibility to do it in five or should I say LeBron and Luke Canard have a chance to do it in five. Been absolutely a crazy series there and there's a chance that if the Lakers can just get to this one, they're going to get Luca back. And that's all that they need. they can on. LeBron's been giving him the rest that he needs for at least one series and they might just be able to do it. Moving around the rest of the way. ⁓ Go ahead, Matt. I was going to say, yeah, they lost last game against the Rockets. Katie wasn't playing. think Katie's only played one game out of the four games they've played. LeBron might've had the worst playoff game of his career. last game, four? Yeah, in game four, he had like eight turnovers. He had to just make sure they could do it in five. That's the thing the Lakers do in five. Right. He wants to respect the main. Yeah. I appreciate that. But he almost had a triple double with turnovers, 10 points, nine assists, eight turnovers, four rebounds. It's not a LeBron game, but the other three were. And so he's definitely taking the team on his shoulders. He's waiting for his sweet Prince, Luka Donsich to come back healthy. Yeah. And I'll tell you right now, it might be early in the playoffs, but if LeBron is able to pull this team and get them to the NBA finals and win it, the debate's over. 40 something year old LeBron doing the, yeah, this would just be like, there's no comeback. No matter if you want to say six or not, Jordan wasn't doing this at 40. ⁓ but that yet to be determined. Some of the other shit we're going to go through every series. We're gonna go through ones that are just intriguing to us. The next one staying in the West, Matt. Nuggets and Timberwolves, Nuggets three seed, Timberwolves are a sixth seed. Minnesota is currently up three one on the Nuggets, but they are down their superstar and Anthony Edwards. Been just an absolute crazy series. I saw that they like the last game they were getting into a fight. like Jokic had had enough of it. He said someone scored whenever the game should, it was over. So he's like, I had to let him know or whatever. Uh, he's just a little, a little hot about it. So. They're playing a night actually as a recordings podcast. forget who he got into it with, but over the past like four years, think it might've been, it might've been McDaniels. like over the past four years, I think they've played each other like 32 times. Which like they just hate each other. Yeah. Like that's just so many, you know, It's kind of nice. been a little bit of a rivalry. It is, especially in the playoffs. Anthony Edwards, you know, hyper extend his knees out for weeks, apparently a few weeks. Um, know, Dante DiVincenzo. was like a bone bruise. Yeah. Bone bruise plus hyper extending knee. Um, DiVincenzo, uh, towards Achilles. That's a big miss. It's going to be a big miss for the, uh, the Timberlost because he played 82. Of 382 regular season games. So that, you know. Even Shinzo is like a sneaky, like he makes these teams. It's almost like a sneaky white, but like, I don't even see him as why I just see him as whatever. But we see him with the Warriors whenever they've gone some runs. We saw him with the Bucks. I think he was there in 2022 when the Warriors won it. I'd have been, but he's like someone that like. teams add and like all of a sudden they become like a playoff competing team. Like he's someone that just understands the game very well. He's a good pesky defender, very good three point shooter. Yeah. It reminds me of who's the other, who's the bald white guy for O.K.C. Alex Truesoe. It reminds me a lot of Alex Truesoe. So it's a very, it's a different play style, but they're both like very good defenders. You got active hands. I, you know, I'll shout out for the Timberwolves in the last game. We're talking game four, not the game that's happening tonight. Cause by the time this podcast drops, series could be over, but I owe dos and dos. me do it. Let me, let me, know, you guys name. I owe to Sue mu. ⁓ Timberlake was traded for him at the deadline for the bulls from the bulls. ⁓ they traded the bulls like, ⁓ Ryan Dillingham and another player and a couple of second round pegs. Not much. For a to sumo, but he obviously is a very good player the Bulls definitely got fleeced but that's been a consistent theme for the Bulls especially this offseason and past off seasons not getting enough for their players cycle vein loose of it's Fleece tonight. He just had a reason night. Yeah 43 points. Yeah for Iota sumo five five from three 13 17 from the field. Like I tell you you lose two starters in D'Vinchenzo and Ant-Man. That's the guy you want coming in. And especially when I, if they do win the series, they get a little bit of a break. Hopefully it gets to come back when they're still in the playoffs. Yeah. I mean, they probably have to survive this series and another series before he has a chance to come back. It wouldn't be till like the conference finals until he comes back. Yeah. So that's. Maybe this is just helpful for the next season because they, found, they found a jewel and, uh, I'd assume, uh, for sure. Uh, okay. Speaking of series, let's go to the next one here. Matt, you want to talk about your little jinx that you did for the magic and pistons. It's been incredible stuff here. Anyone doesn't know Matt chose, I think you, the pistons were your initial brody of the week. They then lose, go down to Orlando two zero or no. I think it was 2-0 and then you make the magic your brody the week and then they lose So I guess Matt who are you gonna pick now? Cuz you've been a good jinx Probably right now third quarter two and a quarter left Mads are up five on the Pistons. I mean, it's not listen. It's not me the massive sudden be an eighth seed They just dealt with a lot of injury. They're a lot better than an eighth seed We need to talk about the jinx that this podcast does have. This is becoming a real thing. We've, we said Luca should be MVP. He then pulls it great to hamstring pull or strain. ⁓ and then I was talking about the Spurs last podcast and then Victor Wimminyama gets a concussion, knocks himself out. We, we have a real problem and there's, there's even more of a track record. ⁓ really is. you, you're consistent with the podcast, you understand the, the level of. The second we talk about someone, yeah. So I think the, was talking to my buddy Ethan, I think the only way to break that curse is that the people that we talk about then have to come on the podcast to cleanse, cleanse himself for the curse. think that's the only way we get out of it. That's been Bane. free to come on. Yeah. Oh, you're about to talk to you next. No, was just saying. I wanted to even it out. I get, okay. Okay. You're cutting them. Come on the podcast, man. By us Harris. You just guys have to come on for a minute and that should fix the curse. They might fix it tonight. They might even the series out to the two, but I, the whole thing with the magic. That's a get crazy into it, but it was just, they're an AC because of injuries. Um, obviously they made it through the plan and whatnot. So now they're actually in the playoffs. They're fully healthy. ⁓ and now you're seeing like a fully healthy Orlando magic team who probably would have been a four seed at the floor at the lowest, maybe higher if they're fully healthy all season. That's not mashup for the pistons, man. They're physical just like the pistons are physical. heard a fun little stat. Do you know the last eight seed to win the championship and the NBA playoffs? ⁓ There's been one. Yes. I don't know. 2014 Spurs. Really? Yeah. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Janobli. I believe that was the team. They were also played by injuries and were just an eight seed. We were able to go in and win it. So. I think seven times there's been an eight seed that's gone up two one on a one seed and all seven of those times the eight seeds won series. So it might already be over. Shout out to Miami Heat. Shout out to Miami Heat. Shout out to our stats department. Definitely have done that. ⁓ okay. I think that was it that we had. know the Knicks, Hawks is that series is tied to two calves. Raptors is also tied to two. rest of the series kind of seemed like it's over Thunder leading the sons three zero in that series. That one actually that game's going right now. Game four Thunder have a chance to sweep Celtics 76ers or yeah, Celtics 76 years Celtics kind of taking away that one as well. It's just three, three one. ⁓ I'm really just looking forward to the next round of the NBA playoffs. I do want to say this. Mr. Dort, Mr. Lou Dort. Let's fuck you. And first of all, Oh, let's take it easy on the, on the, did Lou Dort do to get you out up like this? Trapping up Devin Booker. Oh, are you well, you're up too well in the series. You're up probably 20 something points in the game and the game three, you're tripping Devin Booker. Are you Devin? Absolutely not. I don't like, I don't like either. like you're defending Devin Booker a little bit. Actually I do. If you want to get on the podcast, I love your car collection, Mr. Booker. But listen, if we're, you're a professional sports player, you're notoriously good defender, good from three occasionally. Okay. But now you have the, especially this, this season and last season, you, you've been kind of known as like a dirty. Guy, a dirty defender, getting too handsy, getting too physical. So you stream on greening it up. He's trying to green it up, Listen, saw the trip. Intentional. don't know if that was intentional. % intentional. There's no way. did look like an unorthodox motion, I thought it was just funny. Devin Booker was calling out the, the refs and the other games and stuff. But like I said, that series is probably over. So. We could move on from it. Is there anything else from the NBA playoffs that we had, Matt? I think we're on to round two. I think round two probably will be started by next podcast. So, ⁓ I mean, yeah, that's it. We'll do some more round two analysis next, next episode. Started off with now the NHL playoffs. We haven't really talked too much about the NHL playoffs, ⁓ just cause the rounds have kind of been going on. have some round one highlights and just some odds for the Stanley Cups. We were trying to get some experts on to come talk about it, but the schedule just didn't sync up. But talk about a little bit. I want to start off with the Carolina Hurricanes sweeping the Ottawa Senators. Game four, I believe it was Saturday night, was an absolute dogfight. Ottawa had their backs against the wall. They didn't want to get swept by the Carolina Hurricanes. And by God, they started just fighting everyone and putting everyone in the walls. It was a very physical game. Benches were cleared multiple times in this. One of the Kachuk brothers, think it's, can't remember which one's on Ottawa. Matthew Kachuk's on the Panthers, but who's the other one? Brady Kachuk was absolutely a heat seeking missile for Ottawa. was, there was one play where he ran someone right into the wall and then 10 seconds later he's put another guy in the wall. It was a very physical game. Unfortunately, he did lose to Carolina Hurricanes. Hurricanes are actually looking like they could be the team that could come out of the East. A lot of people are saying like this could finally be their year. They don't have to play the Panthers in the playoffs. They will play the winner out of the Penguins and Flyers game. So the battle for Pennsylvania. That's been a good one going on. Let's what else was going on. Starting over on the Western Conference, the Avalanche have also clinched. So now the Hurricanes and Avalanche are the first two teams to clinch in the second round. ⁓ that probably could change by the time this podcast comes out because we're dropping this on Wednesday, but that's we're recording this on Monday night. Stars and wild series have, has been wild. It's tied to two and two of those games have gone into overtime. Matt, have you watched any of these games? No. The stars and wild. I know one of them, like, dude, it was 1 AM and I was trying to stay awake for the second overtime. And I ended up falling asleep in the second overtime. So I woke up the next morning and saw the Stars won. think every other Dallas Stars fan went through the same thing. they didn't sleep did see there was, was tied two to two and they, they lost another time. Yep. And they are also playing, actually they're playing tomorrow night. So by the time this podcast drops, the game five of love already happened. That one will be back in Dallas. Dallas is favored. Hopefully they can pull it out. Would love to see my Stars advance to the Stanley Cup finals, but. I'd say last time. good series. It's probably been one of the more even matchups of the series. Last time we played them didn't we won? Minnesota? Yeah. Yes. Yeah. We've had the wild and avalanches number the last couple series, but we haven't been able to get over that hump into the championship. So we'll see. I don't know if the stars team is Stanley cup ready. ⁓ I think obviously the favorites, the favorites for the Stanley cup right now, just you want the odds. It's Colorado at plus 225, hurricanes at plus 285, Tampa Bay Lightning, Buffalo Sabres, and then the Dallas Stars at 12 to one. And Minnesota Wild is 19 to one. So, I mean, it's been, it's been good. I think hockey gets more exciting once we get to the second round. First round is kind of some sweeps and not as even matchups, but Stars Wild, whoever. Wednesday is going to up playing the Avalanche. So that's going to be once again, the Stars could have to play the Aves. It's been a good little rivalry. Hockey does a different where you like play a lot of the same teams in the playoffs, at least leading up to the Stanley Cup. One of the surprises that's probably happened in the Stanley Cup or the NHL playoffs so far is the Oilers and the Ducks. The Anaheim Ducks have a 3-1 lead over the Edmonton Oilers. Yeah. So that's, that series has been a little bit crazy just because I think a lot of people had Edmund 10 kind of pencil them into the second round and Anaheim has kind of showed up and I think they're the three seed and Oilers are the two seed. So it's been kind of a little bit of an upset. Love to see some upsets, except when it's my teams. Matt, anything you've seen from hockey so far? you been keeping it in the series? you been more in the NBA? I haven't sniffed things from hockey yet, man. No? It's about to get good. All right. So that was kind of our rundown, our little recap of all that. think, you know, hockey is we get little farther. going to do more into it. So. We'll see when listen, I try and keep us. I'm a playoff hockey watcher. I'll tell you right now. I'm a, I'm a casual when it comes to hockey, but I do enjoy playoff hockey. think it's some of the most exciting that's out there, especially not compared to the NBA, but I mean, the NBA has a lot of blowout games. Hockey is very close, very go, go, go. Like the guys are going like 30 to 60 seconds at a time. ⁓ so it's pretty much all out. All right. So yeah, like I said, that was hockey talk. Now we're going to into some other sports and really there's only one main story that's come out. Brandon Sworesby, transfer quarterback to Texas Tech has come out with a gambling situation, a little show hay situation going on. ⁓ Maybe not Ohtani, maybe Ohtani's translator, but he has checked into a residential treatment program for gambling addiction. This is a weird situation, Matt. Brandon, I said Brandon Sworesby. Okay. That's what I started off with. said Brandon Sworesby. Transfer, uh, Texas tech transfer. Uh, he's under NCAA investigation for gambling and this is all new. It's all dropped today, but it's like a 2022 when he played for Indiana. Um, he was apparently betting on his team to win and just like other teams. think how many transactions did it say in the report, Matt, that came out? I don't if it said the amount of transactions. Okay. He thousands. Betting thousands. Dollars. is lesson. If you're betting on Indiana in 2022, think thousand of dollars, you might need to be checked into the facility. But I, what's crazy is he was a freshman at college. He was not starting in the game. So he didn't really have any meaningful minutes to change these games. And also he wasn't betting on his team to lose. He's been on his team to win. I know in 2023, it came out that the NCAA made it where you couldn't. bet on other sports because he was betting outside of football, I believe. Just a weird situation going on. It's also weird the timing that Cincinnati is bringing this up to the NCAA because he played with them last year. Didn't hear about this. It wasn't until he transferred to Texas Tech. Now I am a Texas Tech guy. Matt is also a Texas Tech guy. Maybe a little biased. Hopefully like it's not like a real addiction. I think this hasn't been going on recently. I think this is just strictly from 2022. If that's the case, I don't see a problem with this. He wasn't playing any of those games. And if so, he was betting on his team to win. I don't see too much. And he was just betting on other sports. Now, if this is something recently where you, you know, fixing games and shaving points, obviously that's where we get ahead of that. Don't do that. That's scumbag behavior. But I don't think that's the case here. I think it's really just Cincinnati was butt hurt that he transferred Texas Tech. And then they brought this whole investigation up. don't think so because. There's the Calvin Ridley situation. If you remember, he was injured for like in a whole year or something, and he was betting on his team and the Falcons to win. And then he got suspended for an entire year because they found out that he was gambling on sports. And so he was suspended for an entire year. This is the NFL. Yeah. So obviously there's going to be repercussions. And that's the thing too is like. Cause he got, he got caught during the whole like active, like when it was going on, like this was like four years ago now at this point. And then it comes to light. And then like the NCAA made it where you couldn't bet, like starting in like 2022. I believe that's when they started their like restrictions on it. I don't think it was any restrictions beforehand. just think this is like over. All the bets were not placed in like 2022. This was like over the course of. years, surely. It dates back to 22 probably. Maybe that's the case. if, and once again, if he was betting on games that he's playing in and you know, betting on his team will lose and shaving points, that's scumbag behavior. ⁓ it's just a weird thing in general. I'm going to tell a lot of athletes right now, just don't bet. Just don't do it. And I know like if, if it's an addiction, like that's tough. Like I've had friends with gambling addictions and it's something like, you know, you can't help, especially like, you know, people that have like I don't know these other addictions, it's tough to get on, but like sports gambling, it's all right here in the pocket of your phone. Like it's very easy to get into and very easy to get your hands on. Like it's hard to restrict someone from going on their phone and placing these bets. it like, if it's a true addiction. Only addiction if you're bad at it. Don't say that. Maybe. Uh, yeah, if you're making money. Yeah. You're one bet away from hitting boys. Don't give up. There you go. Uh, But it would be interesting because Cincinnati is bringing this to light because I've heard that if it is, if it does go through, he loses all his NCAA eligibility, which I think he only has the one year left. But then Cincinnati, obviously have to play Texas Tech this year, October 24th. So they're probably hoping that maybe they don't have to play Brandon Sworesby in that game. I don't think it's that. They're also suing him. There's no way Cincinnati knew about it Cincinnati. But apparently there's the Then they would become liable. I guess, that is rumors that the Cincinnati has known about this. I would fuck them. So I guess it's not proven, Not fun. Especially, yeah, because he hasn't played a game for tech, so really it's on Cincinnati if this is true. Maybe, you know, maybe I'm looking at it too much from biased eyes. I do know that they had that whole $1 million NIL breach of contract going on with him, and they were suing him. And he's now like a peeled dad, so... Not too exactly sure. And once again, it's just a weird situation, especially when it involves like one of our teams. Yeah. But like, you can't tell me that players aren't, you know, are betting, doing a little parlay here and there. mean, I'm sure they are, but like, they're probably not betting on their sports. Like just that's really like where the, like you shouldn't do that. I mean, Calvin Ridley was betting on his team to win and he still got to spend for an entire season. Yeah. So they, they don't have any leeway with that sports betting, I guess in general. Yeah. And once again, this is all under investigation. There's going to be, this is day one. This news just broke today. So we're still waiting on more information. It's all going to be under investigation. next podcast we'll have an update for that. All the what's going on. He is on an indefinite leave from Texas Tech right now. you know, hopefully, we do want him to get better. If he's battling addiction, we want him to get better. Like that's, you don't want to see anyone struggle with that. Once again, I've had friends go through the same thing. You don't want to see it. If he's going to battle addiction, it's just probably one of the ones that we want him to battle. you about to rank addictions? No, but I'm just saying, it's probably a top three. Probably the, and we're not going to go over those top three. Moving on to our final segment here. ⁓ Keep three, cut five that I have for Matt. I came up with one this time and I think it's going to be, I it's going to be a good one. So Matt, the keep three, cut five. If anyone doesn't know how this works, I have eight options for Matt to choose. He has to keep three and cut five. Pretty simple stuff there. It's right there in the name. So Matt, you're keep three, cut five. It's not food, never is food. Maybe one these times it will be food. Matt, your keep three, cut five that I have for you today is NBA players that you would want to build a competing roster around right now. Immediately. Starting off. Starting off. Number one. Yes, sir. Con Canipal. Yeah. Get him out of there. You're cutting Con Canipal. Get him out of there. All right. Number two, Luka Dacic. Yeah. Yeah, what? You're keeping them? Keeping them till the day I die. There we go. Next one here, number three. Shay Gildes Alexander. Cut him. You're cutting Shay? Well, as you said, it's a party you want to build around. Right now. Shay needs a lot around him, apparently. All he needs is the referees. That's true. You don't need that many. You just need one to blow the whistle every time, huh? Yeah. Yeah, cut him. All right, cut and shea. That's also bias coming into play. Number four, Cade Cunningham. Cut him. We're cutting Cade. Yeah. All right. So far we through four and you've kept one and Luca. Yeah. All right. Number five, Cooper flag. We're keeping Cooper flag rookie of the year, by the way, Cooper flag. came out today. to mention that, dude. Sure. We got it now. This podcast would have been 30 minutes longer. it's good that we're doing it now. All right. So you've kept two Dallas Mavericks. That's Luca and Cooper. One, one Laker, one Maverick. Yeah. One Laker, one Maverick. All right. Take it less bias. Number six, Anthony Edwards. I just feel like one B's in here though. Are we we cutting Anthony Edwards? I'm like, I'm gonna risk it. I guess I'm gonna say this. I want to keep him so badly. He's so good. It's good that you're prefacing this. He's so good. I'm going to cut him. But he's so he's fantastic. Number seven. This one has a caveat to it. All right, dude. Number seven is Brawny James. OK, but you get 40 year old LeBron with him. ⁓ fuck. I thought it was going to be Dwight Powell. Well, brawny little brawny with with daddy old LeBron big daddy brawn I mean building though building the team around We get three years two years at brawn. I'm gonna cut them. Give me the last one. Give me all right number eight That he has to keep give me Dwight Pyle, dude Bobon ⁓ I should have kept aunt dude. knew I should have kept aunt. was so close. three Mavericks out of the list. You kept Luca, Cooperflag, and Bobon. Ronnie and Luke and Lebron might be a Maverick next year, man. Don't knock it. There we go. Yeah, I should have kept aunt dude. knew it. Or Shea or Cade. I put like, loaded up the beginning of the list. I thought for sure you were going to keep like Shea or Cade. I wanted to keep Shea. But I don't like him. Honestly, I think Luca and Coop could carry Bobon. And then just get two more role players with them. Yeah. I wanted to keep Ant though. If I could do it again, would have kept Ant. That's why I'm glad you preface with, I want to keep him so bad, but I can't. That's the only one I would have changed. I have the other two. All right. With that, we're going to close out the show.
