- 0:38now welcome to multiple
- 0:41nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and
- 0:46Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All
- 0:51Things
- 0:57nerdy out frame it's annoying go back there but it's it's you're
- 1:02you're only out of frame with us cuz you're you're taking up a third you your
- 1:05camera is still recording the whole frame oh you've got a Vietnamese beer do
- 1:11I have make very good L he's on vacation well you know you don't have to keep no
- 1:16no but I got a new rule stay drunk the entire time it's so hot
- 1:21here if he's never sober he can't get
- 1:25drunk I go one B one water one be one water oh okay that's not a bad R that's
- 1:31not a bad rule I mean technically speaking your water consumption should
- 1:36vastly outnumber your be but I have a feeling that this is an improvement on
- 1:41the norm so the way he said it there slightly different to the way he's
- 1:43internalized it which is if I drink a water I can have another beer yes when
- 1:48we were in New York it was if I have another hot dog I can have another beer
- 1:52yes yeah I ate so many hot dogs cuz either the hot dogs came with a drink or
- 1:58the drinks came with a hot dog depending on how you want to look at it yeah yeah
- 2:02depending on your frame of mind yeah that was that was that weird one where I
- 2:06met this cop who was going to give me his badge if he had to spare one with
- 2:09him really weird thankfully he didn't um I think he knew that is a weird thing to
- 2:14do as a cop that wasn't your only cop interaction that holiday though
- 2:20if I recall no there was another one where a guy was so drunk and his pants
- 2:24were falling down and I mean like pants
- 2:27falling down exposed penis some guy some
- 2:31guy and I flaged down the police to go
- 2:35hey this guy's drunk and they G thank
- 2:39you three minutes I don't I don't want to deal with that who wants to deal with
- 2:45a drunk guy with his dick out not me that's for sure no no drunk
- 2:51women with their dicks out though oh yeah um I have a story about how I arrived in
- 2:58Vietnam does it have to do with drunk women with their dicks out no it doesn't
- 3:02oh okay disappoint all good get here I've been panicking about my drugs that I take
- 3:09CU they sort of you need a prescription for and but you do have ation for them
- 3:15say You' got one yeah I've got one but still worried about it because they say
- 3:18you can only bring in a certain amount and I check with the embassy and they
- 3:21said it's fine take it in and I get there and no one's asking for it so I
- 3:25walk up to customs go I need to De cleare something about my drugs yeah I
- 3:31basically said what I said word for word was I have
- 3:35drugs right of course you did that's not
- 3:40the thing to in a Vietnamese airport I then quickly corrected to medication and
- 3:45I have prescription and they laughed at me right well that's the best case
- 3:50scenario All Things Considered where was your wife while this rig morale was
- 3:53going on she was next to me and was embarrassed about pretending she didn't
- 3:59know you yes well that's her default mode when standing next to you I assume
- 4:04well there have been times where she has just gone I'm going to go through this
- 4:07different custom SL because I've got a different
- 4:12passport yeah I do that sometimes that was my experience get arriving there
- 4:17just to yell I have drugs in an airport in a country that doesn't like drugs
- 4:22that's like the time I got this is coming back from a cruise uh to Sydney
- 4:26um to the Pacific Islands and I bought some stuff while we're away and had to
- 4:32like shove it into my suitcase and you still have to go back through customs
- 4:35even though it was just say maybe clarify what you mean by stuff no don't
- 4:40do it uh clothes um and I bought uh those cups that are fish that cocktails
- 4:47come in I had a a whole bunch of weird stuff that I bought on this Cruise
- 4:51because said we never imply ownership of the dildo it's always the dildo not your
- 4:57dildo but I had to like sit on the case to to close it right and so we get up
- 5:02and they want to they they were just checking everybody's suitcase and so I
- 5:06popped it up on the table and I said you're careful that's going to explode
- 5:08when you try to open it
- 5:14oh yeah they don't take conly to jok like
- 5:19that I didn't even mean it was a joke I was just I mean I did but I didn't it
- 5:24didn't mean it you know what I mean yeah yeah you w crack it was it's going to
- 5:30like my stuff's going to fly out yeah yeah even though you know you've done
- 5:34nothing wrong you still get nervous going through yeah yeah sure I uh I got
- 5:40checked going into some South Southeast Asian country um and they were just
- 5:45pulling random people out of the lines to do bag checks and I got pulled out
- 5:49and this other lady got pulled out and she was like please don't please don't
- 5:54open my bag and they were like well now we're definitely going to open it and she like
- 6:00please please don't please don't do it
- 6:03out here and uh they were like you you you you should shut up and we're
- 6:09definely going to open your bag it was
- 6:12the sexiest [ __ ] lingerie so much of
- 6:19it of lingerie no but it was all on the top and and all of her clothes were like
- 6:24I mean unless
- 6:27she oh no don't open my
- 6:34suitcase my favorite is still when you got checked to coming back from
- 6:38Disneyland Matt and all your r2d R2-D2 stuff was there yeah you like
- 6:45R cool he's like yeah me too
- 6:50yeah that was funny so I will you're in
- 6:55Vietnam you uh we know you don't drink coffee CU you don't like hot drinks but
- 7:00in Vietnam they drink the most delicious ice coffees on the planet have you had a
- 7:05Vietnamese ice coffee I am not yet I am going to try an egg
- 7:10coffee okay what is that told I for the weird stuff we've been on a few like
- 7:16walking tours and both the tours recommended an egg coffee is it coffee
- 7:23with an egg in it or coffee in an egg
- 7:27oh I'm going to go with coffee with egg in it yeah but I'll let you know next
- 7:33week cuz I'm going to try one today or [Music]
- 7:36tomorrow you ever the Philippines no in the Philippines they have this dish
- 7:42called balut which is an egg but they let it juste till halfway before they
- 7:47take it and cook it and uh it's uh it's an
- 7:53experience is it nice without think what it is I mean they love it they love it
- 7:58but the the thing is you not think about what it is can't it looks like a looking
- 8:02up at you I did find something strange because I everyone's been talking about
- 8:06the street food here is good and it wasn't until we went on a tour we found
- 8:10out what actually street food is street food here isn't like the the side of the
- 8:15road street food it's actually still you go into a restaurant type of thing but
- 8:20it's it's like someone's house or something like the L levels just where
- 8:24they serve food but there's no they just want you to go in eat and get out you're
- 8:29not paying what I explain you're not paying for service you're just paying
- 8:32for the food and each of them have their own like special
- 8:36recipes so if you see a place that's empty it's not because it's necessarily
- 8:41bad it's just because they're just basically when they've left so it's a
- 8:48good place to maybe go in cuz there's there's no nice e it's plastic chairs
- 8:52where you're sitting basically on the floor and a small table Yeah but the
- 8:56food is amazing yeah good food right
- 9:01M cheap beer lots of beer [Music]
- 9:05M well I traveled recently I went to New Jersey as listeners and viewers from
- 9:12last week will know I was down there you know why cuz [ __ ] old Jersey that's
- 9:15right is there a jersey somewhere Jersey must be right must so
- 9:22there's New York there's Jersey there must be but New York is not named after
- 9:26York the place it's named after the Duke of York I learned that recently what
- 9:31it's the new one of them I guess so H I didn't know
- 9:37that well I uh I mean I'm sure they acknowledged York was a place it's not
- 9:42like they were going like you know what this place looks like it looks like the
- 9:47Duke of York yeah when I look at that tree you know
- 9:51what I think of yeah um or that Island I suppose yeah or or the uh this tribe of
- 9:57Native Americans who already live here that want us to leave they all they all
- 10:01look like the looks like the Duke of
- 10:06York they using his catchphrase [ __ ]
- 10:11off I was down in Jersey for VCF East and I just wanted to mention that it was
- 10:15[ __ ] awesome if you're in the area I highly recommend it if you're into Old
- 10:19Computers I got to use Alisa one of the the old Lisa Apple Computers the
- 10:25predecessor to the Mac that was very very unsuccessful because it was
- 10:30$40,000 equivalent of about
- 10:33that uh and without it we wouldn't have
- 10:37the Mac because they learned you can't if he'd been a little nicer to his
- 10:42daughter we would never have the Mac yeah exactly right so uh so that was
- 10:48cool yeah yeah a bunch of classic Macs bunch of comodos stuff I bought uh did
- 10:52you touch the ler I've never touch yeah y it's little screen tiny little thing
- 10:58yeah open up the word processor typed I am typing on a Lisa nice yeah couldn't
- 11:04think of anything else to write that yeah perfect yeah how much did just like
- 11:09I used her sister I tried not to spend too much money right I bought um you
- 11:15tried I tried no I I didn't you actually showed incredible restraint if only the
- 11:20stuff you showed us was what you bought thank you that's how I feel too I
- 11:24purchased a copy of an original copy of the Colonel's bequest that was the first
- 11:27thing that I bought and it was only because I went the consignment the
- 11:30consignment area in there was very dangerous for me because there was so
- 11:34much stuff and in fact there was an an Atari um St computer there complete with
- 11:39monitor disc drives everything like that and I always really wanted one of those
- 11:43when I was a kid and I I took a photo of it and as I
- 11:48was taking a photo the guy because it's Consignment so like the people who own
- 11:52the stuff are hanging about but you buy it right there through VCF this guy
- 11:56comes over and he goes you can have the whole lot for 400 bucks and I was like I
- 12:01was like don't do that and he and I said no look honestly I can't can't and he
- 12:05goes he goes ah it's it's in really good condition but and I said oh you know I
- 12:09really want when I was a kid and we were just chatting about it I I was thinking
- 12:12I'll just deflect and then I'll walk off and he goes all right
- 12:15350 and I was like oh man you're not this is a haggle thing you're just you
- 12:21don't want it my is my nervous way of trying to
- 12:27yeah exactly right yeah yeah yeah this is nervous have a chat and then
- 12:31eventually you'll get to a number I'll have no choice but to say yes yeah yeah
- 12:36eventually um I said oh I'll have to ever think about it and then I and I
- 12:40shuffled off but yes so the consignment I went in the consignment area first and
- 12:43I saw Colonel's request was there and uh and I was like that's tempting 30 bucks
- 12:49yeah sorry for what um system oh oh uh
- 12:53the MS DOS like yeah are you GNA be able to play it
- 12:59well in theory it's on three and a half inch so uh yeah exactly it's more about
- 13:05um it's having a box I've thought about getting I've thought about writing a short list of
- 13:11games that are just like my favorite games and then just trying to track down
- 13:15yeah I didn't buy it to um to play necessarily it's more about kind of the
- 13:21Nostalgia and like I don't know it's it's a great it's one of those games
- 13:25that I have really fun memor frustrating game it it is but I remember it was very
- 13:30engaging it's basically it's like it's an adventure game but it's you're
- 13:33solving a murder and and there's you know you you walk around the house you
- 13:38can still finish the game you could you could solve it with the wrong person you
- 13:41could solve it with no one at all and you go through like secret passages and
- 13:45look through the the eye holes of paintings and you can observe
- 13:48conversations it's really cool game so it was it wasn't as punishing as other
- 13:51games where if you got something wrong it was just game over hold on hold on no
- 13:56because time of day counted in this so certain events would only happen before
- 14:01or after certain other events happened so if you didn't pick up an item before
- 14:05someone else came and cleaned it up later there's literally a clock ticking
- 14:08as the game goes on and sometimes you're like I've done
- 14:13everything I don't know what I have to do and what you have to do is just wait
- 14:17until the time when the game is going to do the next thing y that would be
- 14:22frustrating I don't like that game it's a great be panicking not done
- 14:27something and all set in this like I don't know if it's Savannah or Louisiana
- 14:32or somewhere down south yeah in this big Plantation Mansion it's it's
- 14:39great so I I grabbed that because I uh like I said I went in the first time I
- 14:43saw it there and I was tempted and I was like uh I'll let me I could keep looking
- 14:47around because the it's pretty big it's set it's a set it's the event takes
- 14:52place set I'm talking like I'm talking about video game it's the event takes
- 14:55place in an old in conventional no it's milary Bas
- 15:01as you've got a certain amount Mone not to spend all of your money because you have a
- 15:07family um yeah it's it's an old your life meter is actually just your baby's
- 15:13food ticking exact top of the screen colge the gas that you have you
- 15:19have to get home again after to get back yeah oh that'd be a good game from New
- 15:23Jersey CU that's a 4 and a half hour drive oh you drrive um yeah yeah yeah
- 15:29kind of all right actually listen to couple podcasts on way you go
- 15:34exactly so I bought that after after coming back to Consignment it was still
- 15:38there and I was like okay fine I'll get it and then I also bought there's a guy
- 15:41there his name's Eli he um he was selling so like games like he had com 64
- 15:48Atari and Doss games brand new in the shrink wrap right got so I bought three
- 15:54combo 64 games it's he sells them 10 10 bucks each or three for 20 bucks and I
- 16:01said to him I like I asked him how the [ __ ] did you get these like yeah have
- 16:06you had them the whole time brand new he was he was a wholesaler in the 80s oh
- 16:11wow he owns the building that he stored all this stuff in right he made a lot of
- 16:15money obviously back then and so he's just had this stuff in a building that
- 16:18he owns from the from for the money he made and then at some point he was like
- 16:22what am I going to do with this [ __ ] so he just started coming to VCF for fun
- 16:27and he's like oh people probably B here and so he just sets up a table fills his
- 16:32car up with whatever he can fit yeah drives come next time yeah he said he's
- 16:39just and I said do you sell him online he was like nah maybe I will one day wow
- 16:43but like so you have to go back and see what he's got next time yeah every
- 16:47single time can I email you and ask if you have certain things yeah do you have a
- 16:52catalog well I asked did you have Zack McCracken and he said I know I don't
- 16:56have that cuz I looked because he said he want a copy for himself but does he have
- 17:01Batman the Batman the movie I already have that but uh he did not have it that
- 17:07he had Batman the Caped Crusader which is uh another Batman game which I I
- 17:12bought that I bought um uh Rambo 3 because I played that when
- 17:19I was a kid and I saw the box and I was like well I'll have that and I bought um
- 17:23the Nightmare and Elm Street game for com which I also played so I found three
- 17:27that I was like okay okay I I've played these uh so I'll take them but they're
- 17:33in the like I said they're in the shrimp rack so you're going to leave them in
- 17:36the shrimp rack yeah yeah nice well yeah there's no reason not to so like luk you
- 17:43asked can I still play I own it on God I'm not going to put those discs in anything
- 17:50like sorry floppy discs or cassettes the these are floppy discs
- 17:56five and a quter inch yeah five and a qu nice yeah com 64 got a 3 and a half inch
- 18:02Drive late in its existence but I don't think they ever actually released any
- 18:06like I couldn't imagine production software on it I think it was just you
- 18:09could use it but yeah people just P the games onto them exactly yeah yeah uh
- 18:16yeah and then on the last day I went back you could store a very very
- 18:20decently sized game for the c64 on a on a three and a half inch floppy disc yes
- 18:26there was some games like that were multi five so so a 3 and 1/2 in floppy
- 18:32holds two 5 and 1/4 in floppies I think right or it gets confusing because there
- 18:38double you might it might be more than that it might be maybe the only ones
- 18:42were only two yeah and because there was um the 5 and a qu inch floppies you
- 18:48could flip them over too some of them oh that's true and the ones that you
- 18:52couldn't you could use a hole punch to chop the corner out so that you could
- 18:57but then it would not last very long like yeah yeah yeah yeah
- 19:04um yeah and then the last day I bought some um hardware for my 64 I bought an
- 19:08easy flash I bought a cartridge slot expander so I can plug three cartridges
- 19:13in and I bought a network card for my
- 19:18commod 64 what because I can put this thing on the internet that's amazing are
- 19:23you going to do it I'm sure perifractic has a tutorial watch por now
- 19:29so I was like that seems dangerous but this this so my com 64 is right here in
- 19:33front of me now this doesn't have any rable as far as I'm aware stuff in it so
- 19:40it's not like I don't think this could get infected with a virus like something
- 19:43could potentially trash the disc that I'm running things off you just press
- 19:47clear all and anything that was on there in the yeah I'm going to have to double
- 19:51check that like I I guess I don't think there's a lot of risk just kind of
- 19:54jumping on and browsing some websites on this for funsies so yeah so there's I
- 20:00assume this is the because I know some people have put
- 20:05their Amigas online and uh there are websites you can go to with a list of
- 20:11websites that are Amiga friendly because obviously you're not going to be able to
- 20:15view every website on an old computer so there's probably that for c64 too so
- 20:19it'll tell you which sites are worth visiting on your Commodore yeah so you didn't buy the
- 20:26Atari St though is is I did not no I didn't buy any computers I did see the
- 20:30the so I I got there on late on the
- 20:34Friday and I went and none of the the um the displays weren't open and the
- 20:39consignment wasn't open it was just the talks were on so I got there on the
- 20:43Friday I went and I saw I watched a panel in the afternoon and then I went
- 20:46back to the hotel and did did the show with you guys so the next morning was
- 20:50technically the first real yeah VCF experience I yeah and I parked and I was
- 20:56walking in and this old man was walking out with a big smile on his face with a
- 21:03trs8 in the box under his arm and he was just going good morning good morning
- 21:09good boy he was so [ __ ] happy and I was like this is going to be good the
- 21:15vibe of this event is good amazing and like stuff at sort of a
- 21:21reasonable price as well 100% like oh so I met so met a few
- 21:27people there friend made some friends there and I was talking to
- 21:30somebody uh and I said um this person had a Commodore 64 setup with a with a
- 21:36power supply that I was like what is that power supply it looks [ __ ] sick
- 21:41it was like this metal box and the cable was like detachable and it it like it
- 21:46had all these switches on it and I was like what the [ __ ] is that and he said
- 21:48oh this guy makes them I'll give you his contact details they're really good um
- 21:52he just if you email him he'll make you one I like all right cool and he said
- 21:57it'll power uh a commodor uh plus 4 64 128 R and I said oh yeah I've always
- 22:03wanted a Commodore 128 but they're really expensive and he goes well it
- 22:07depends on who you know doesn't it come with me so then he takes me across the
- 22:11room and he introduces me to this other guy and he go he goes you've got a
- 22:14commodor 128 that you were looking to get rid of haven't you and the guy's
- 22:17like oh yeah I need to make sure it works and he goes oh give me your email
- 22:20address and like yeah so if you're into
- 22:24that stuff like get your ass there yeah that' be sick I want a Vic 20 let me
- 22:31know if you come across a Vic 20 there was some in the consam area you should
- 22:34have told me they weren't cheap they were a couple hundred bucks I mean cheap
- 22:38is relative I supp couple hundred bucks is they're back to being the price as
- 22:43they were when they were new yeah exactly ironically but I still like the guy I
- 22:48saw a talk by the guy who invented the Vic chip Al sharpener I literally he was
- 22:53a couple of meters away from amazing yeah I've him talk on podcasts that's
- 22:57great does sound good cuz I know that like the used game market for like newer
- 23:01games is getting ridiculous with people trying to sell like Zelda games for
- 23:06hundreds dolls thousands now so this is actually good that they're re price so
- 23:11you can still buy it's funny you say that luk because I've like you know I
- 23:16think we all three of us have that Collective Vibe right we just we want
- 23:21but sure but like I'm also I need to narrow it down for myself right like and
- 23:27you you've chosen the c64 and you're buying stuff for the c64 like you've
- 23:30made your decision yeah the first one I had makes sense yeah Y and mine was the
- 23:36amga but I don't own that much amga stuff but I have been thinking like I
- 23:41want to just pick a like an computer or a console and just see how much I can
- 23:46get but like even like even I'm but like I feel like I've missed the boat with
- 23:51some of the early stuff because they're just so expensive now they're just so
- 23:55expensive so I'm thinking like do I just go [ __ ] it PlayStation 1 you know what I
- 24:00mean it's still nearly 30 years old try and getting ground floor on something
- 24:04that's not yet too just it takes off just as it's entering retro just get as
- 24:10many garage yeah stuff I had yeah but maybe the way to do it isn't go online
- 24:16for it is maybe go to these conventions yeah I'd love to actually I I do I do
- 24:22keep a lookout but there there so many in America and Europe as well and not so
- 24:27many here not many here I learned as well so VCF is VCF is the Vintage
- 24:32computer Federation right but that's actually a separate entity from VCF East
- 24:36VCF East is a thing on its own and um this guy someone I was talking to said
- 24:41yeah you there's like hundreds potentially of these events because um
- 24:47the Vintage computer Federation is a trademark but VCF they never bothered to
- 24:53enforce that so there were just all of these things right called VCF whatever
- 24:57and so people go oh VC it's completely unrelated yeah so
- 25:02it's how people used to treat ComiCon before ComiCon got famous enough that it
- 25:05could start threat trademark or whatever yeah yeah yeah because there was a point
- 25:09where it would just be like Atlanta ComicCon because it was a comic
- 25:13convention yeah they renamed a few of the ones around here I assume for that
- 25:17reason because they were like oh lawsuit coming I wanted to mention a story that
- 25:22or an anecdote that Al sharena told because I thought this was really
- 25:25interesting um when he was at commodore he did the he did the Vic chip which was
- 25:30the video chip for the Vic 20 he did the Vic 2 which was the video chip for the
- 25:33combo 64 obviously one of the biggest selling chips of all time so he was
- 25:37doing really well there and he pitched
- 25:40um Jack uh tril Jack TR the the guy who won't com off I'm
- 25:46blanket on his actual surname he um pitched him on what he wanted to call the
- 25:53Commodore um 80 and it was he wanted he just was mostly interested in games said
- 25:58it's keyboard it's going to have a screen built in because he wanted a
- 26:00higher resolution that you get on a TV was going to have a screen built on he
- 26:02said basically the thing he described was the mac and they said no one's going
- 26:07to want that it was it was too early right and so he got disillusioned and he
- 26:12quit and he said [ __ ] it I'll go get this funded myself and then he said he
- 26:16he kind of got funding at one point and it all fell through and then he was
- 26:18trying to figure out he had he and a couple other people that he took from
- 26:21Commodore they were like well [ __ ] we need money right we've so what do we do
- 26:26and they came up with this thing and you I seen this on YouTube I've seen someone
- 26:30make a video about this they came up with that thing where you would get an
- 26:33Atari VCS you know Atari 2600 and you put a keyboard over the top and plug a
- 26:40cartridge in it would turn it into a 8bit computer very simple 8bit computer
- 26:44you could do word processing on so this guy Al built the Prototype of this and
- 26:49it was literally looked like look looked like this uh and then and then there was
- 26:54a keyboard that went on and they said we need to charge this much money for this
- 26:59thing we're g to go pitch Atari on this we need to charge this much money for it
- 27:02so it needs to look more expensive than this so what so the day before they went
- 27:09into Atari he took three cartridges glued them together yeah like
- 27:15only one of them had anything in it right it was just a little chip inside
- 27:17one of these right and then there was the keyboard thing that membrane that
- 27:20went up the top and then he got like a a big power brick right and then like put
- 27:26the cable in the side of the cartridge just not hooked up to anything and then
- 27:31when they went into Atari he set it up and he made a big show of like got plug
- 27:36this thing in plug this in and all this kind of stuff cuz it's like we need they
- 27:40need to think this is really complicated yeah amazing yeah and so that thing is
- 27:47that thing's out there somewhere I've seen YouTube videos of
- 27:50um of uh like people demoing it that's
- 27:55incredible [ __ ] smart dude and then he built the uh the sound chip that go
- 28:01he founded n Sonic made the sound chip that's in the fair light which you would
- 28:04have heard in Terminator 2 [Music]
- 28:10soundtrack get do that type of stuff just be this just [ __ ] smart man just
- 28:15it was honestly it was the nerdiest panel I've ever experienced people are
- 28:18asking such technical questions and I didn't even understand all of it but it
- 28:21was just still super interesting like I love it when that happens though I told
- 28:25you didn't I about when I went to see um the direct dor of children of men do
- 28:30doing a talk and he was like we're all film students in here and filmmakers
- 28:34just let's geek out let's ask you know whatever questions you want and it was a
- 28:37curated panel and the I'm like [ __ ] yeah I'm so glad I got invited to this and
- 28:41then but then the curator was like um how did the actors know not to look into
- 28:45the camera and he's like like what on the floor garage like
- 28:52that I st on it how did I know what how I know what to say we written down in the SCP
- 28:59SC so funny oh I'll sh invented Sprites
- 29:04for the com 64 [ __ ] invented like this guy is incredible and he story
- 29:10about how he he he left to do his own thing is is exactly how the Amiga
- 29:15started too was guys at Commodore pitching things internally got told no
- 29:20quit made their own thing and then Commodore like I'm going to buy that off
- 29:24you I mean that's the story of commodore really they got a big hit and then just
- 29:29had no [ __ ] idea what they were doing like yeah yeah yeah obviously Comm 64 is
- 29:34still to this day the highest selling computer of all time wow cuz I had a
- 29:39conversation you know I told you because nobody buys the same one anymore yeah
- 29:45right yeah this one here is the one in front of me that you can't see obviously
- 29:48it's a com 64c which is what I had when I was a kid and I told I told you guys
- 29:52I've I'm sure I've said this on the podcast before I wanted one to fiddle
- 29:56around inside y to learn some stuff so I bought one on
- 30:00eBay uh and when it turned up nothing wrong with it and so I was like oh [ __ ]
- 30:05I can't I don't want to rule can't open this one yeah so I got one from Goodwill
- 30:09right I was like it's it's really cheap it's definitely not going to work
- 30:13[ __ ] nothing wrong with right as far as I can tell so I was talking to
- 30:16someone at VCF and I said you know I told that story and I said because you
- 30:19know how many working com 64s out there and he goes Millions don't worry about
- 30:24it just [ __ ] do what you want right yeah and I was like H all right then
- 30:31yeah actually I was listening to listening to a podcast the other day
- 30:35about um some dudes talking about [ __ ] with Hardware right and they
- 30:40were like cuz people are purists and I don't it's got to be sto don't tamper
- 30:45with the case all this stuff he's like what you don't understand is these are
- 30:49only people retrospectively projecting that Purity
- 30:54on it because if you owned one at the time you did anything to it to improve
- 30:59its performance you know what I mean like if you got an extra oh I've got an
- 31:02extra card but it doesn't have a slot well I'm cutting a hole out the back
- 31:06then aren't I you know what I mean and I'm wiring something in and I'm soing
- 31:10something to the sides s video to these you know when when that popular I got
- 31:15notari VCS over there they've notoriously got you know like video out
- 31:20mods and everything doing it for years you do whatever it takes yeah yeah so go
- 31:27away did you see the photo of the Amiga I sent you the one with the
- 31:32purple look like Fast and the Furious [ __ ] amga with all the lights in it I
- 31:37saw that and I was like far out there's a dude in Europe who makes steel Amiga
- 31:43cases so yeah so like they they it's the same shape I it's from the same molds as
- 31:49the old Amega ones but it's like you want it to last forever here's a [ __ ]
- 31:52steel one yeah there someone got one of the old commodor molds and
- 31:58they make them too it's funny people have gotten their hands on the actual
- 32:02molds because at some point somebody was throwing them in the bin yeah well I
- 32:06guess Commodore was gone was done yeah a certain point yeah yeah yeah yeah they
- 32:10had two really successful products and just went bankrupt because they didn't
- 32:14know how to run a business because they kept tell saying no to people with good
- 32:18ideas and then anyway anyway great event highly recommend it if you're uh if you're
- 32:24interested in that kind of thing thing or
- 32:28yeah yeah yeah yeah before video gam than I thought was be loved it yeah
- 32:34that's awesome was it enough to fill the the time you you spent yeah I I was
- 32:39thinking my my plan was I'm going to go to this panel Friday I'll go all the day
- 32:42Saturday I probably won't go on Sunday because I don't know but I got up Sunday
- 32:46morning I was like I have to go back for a couple of hours like this yeah so I
- 32:52did did you hear about this uh this woman who bought uh 4,000 copies of Alan Wake
- 32:58that I saw that don't understand why so
- 33:03she's she loves Alan Wake right so she was just on eBay looking for Alan Wake
- 33:08stuff right and uh so she found on eBay
- 33:13someone was selling a box of
- 33:174,000 um XBox
- 33:21360 promotional download cards right
- 33:26so okay and for 250 bucks and she was like for
- 33:314,000 copies of Alan Wake yes please so she bought it thinking well I can just you
- 33:37know sell these on individually or you know yeah um
- 33:44yeah only to realize that no yes you can't you can't use a 36 three an Xbox
- 33:50360 gift card in 2024 you can't do it so she's
- 33:54bought two two 4,000 useless copies of it I saw I saw the article but I didn't
- 34:01read it I thought that she did it on purpose and I didn't understand why no
- 34:06she was like you know what I you're right though the the headlines were like
- 34:10this woman loves Alan Wake so much that even though she didn't have a [ __ ]
- 34:15machine these could play on she still bought 4,000 copies yeah what did she play it
- 34:22on well I'm sure she REM version must have mhm and and I think I think she
- 34:28probably just played the second one and was like oh I've got the [ __ ] bug you
- 34:32know which everyone does which is why I [ __ ] out of my o dear Diner cup now
- 34:39because when Alan white gets you he [ __ ] gets you still go back and play the original
- 34:45I've still got my Xbox 360 copy do you still have an Xbox 360 yep oh there you
- 34:52go no I sold mine you guys follow Sam Lake on
- 34:58media no should I so yeah you should you definitely should he's got this thing
- 35:03going at the moment I think he does it on Tik Tok but I I'm not on Tik Tok but
- 35:06he puts it all on Instagram as well because there's this you know he loves
- 35:11coffee right he just [ __ ] is obsessed with drinking coffee drinks like 10 cups
- 35:15a day or whatever but his character Casey in alen Wake too also is always
- 35:21holding a coffee and there's this scene where Casey and Saga simultaneously take
- 35:26a sip it's like it's a meme now of just two the two
- 35:30characters taking a sip of their copies at the same time so Sam lake has created
- 35:34a meme of taking videos of him and somebody else and the somebody else
- 35:39changes each time simultaneously taking a sip of coffee and it'll be like actors
- 35:45from the franchise or are game devs like there was one with him and the what's the
- 35:51um what's the Death stranding guy uh oh
- 35:58Kima yeah hi Kima both of them drinking at the same time like what did I even just
- 36:04say everyone knew everyone knew exactly what I meant I wasn't going to say it
- 36:10wrong yeah I let you guys say it wrong instead sorry
- 36:17Kima that's better than what I whatever
- 36:19I said I Kima keep yeah keep it safe
- 36:29H um can I talk about a TV show I I've been talking a lot though I feel like
- 36:35somebody else should talk for no no no well no you just need to talk I I have no happened
- 36:42world I need to I need your opin I know that you've seen this Luke yes I know
- 36:47that you've seen peard season two yes and you told me you liked
- 36:53it that b part of it a part of it all right I watch season
- 37:00one I'll put that out there I don't remember exactly what I said about peard
- 37:04season one but I think overall I liked it I just had some issues with it and
- 37:09especially ending but they turn him into a robot yeah well this season I see I feel
- 37:15like season two decided to double down on stuff that will annoy Matt um
- 37:21and I'm just so confused by this show and I've still got two episodes to go
- 37:27and I know that there's only one way this is going to go like there's so for
- 37:34has he had his kid yet for the no no no I feeling that's not going to be in this
- 37:38season that's probably season three right I'm assuming that's not that I'd
- 37:41be very surprised if that comes up in this but by the way I'm gonna impregnate
- 37:47you now the plot of this season is that
- 37:52okay yeah sorry they're just gonna clean my room
- 38:04oh right we can continue yeah no worries all right so the plot of this season is
- 38:11that uh Picard after the events years after the events of the first one
- 38:17presumably uh the the the his Romulan house imortal now Keeper's husband has
- 38:23died off screen and they've fallen in love off screen and that's just a thing
- 38:27now and he's confused so he goes to see
- 38:31gynan on Earth we'll get to that but
- 38:34then Q shows up yeah and transports the
- 38:39brain he he transports them to an alternate world or like transports their
- 38:44brains only to an alternate world where something happened in the past
- 38:48differently and now the Federation is the Confederation and they're all a
- 38:52bunch of racist [ __ ] and they trying to wipe out all the other alien races and
- 38:55stuff like that and then P's like well this is [ __ ] let's travel back in time
- 39:00and try and fix whatever it is C change which is oh so that oh because the Borg
- 39:06Queen tells them she can s it's just such a very convoluted thing yes so they
- 39:11travel back in time and I don't want to belabor the point like because there's a
- 39:17lot of nitpicking I could do but none of this matters right that it is not
- 39:22possible for them to fix the timeline considering all of the things that they are do
- 39:28they're acting like [ __ ] maniacs in the past right like rafy steals a
- 39:32[ __ ] police car um what's he the the C the the captain the Han Solo guy gets
- 39:37picked up by [ __ ] immigration cuz he's Latino looking and he doesn't have
- 39:40any paperwork so they assume he's from Mexico and they get Deport him he ice
- 39:43gets him py gets arrested by the even in the future the Mexicans still they come
- 39:48back to 2024 they travel back in time to 2024 and they're like don't don't don't
- 39:52you know don't do anything that could cause any issues and then they just
- 39:55[ __ ] cause absolute [ __ ] chaos in
- 39:58Los Angeles and I'm like there is no way any of this can matter at the end of
- 40:04this season so I basically my brain is now like there this will all be also
- 40:09didn't didn't they learn from previous time Travel Star Treks that you don't
- 40:15come back to the present day that that doesn't
- 40:19work it's like and it gets we go into like the Weeds on this too I I'm not
- 40:26going to it's it's pointless but I want to point out one thing the
- 40:29biggest thing about this whole [ __ ] season that annoys me right and this is
- 40:34this put me right off at the start why Dan have you seen the Star
- 40:39Trek the Next Generation you have right yeah yeah yeah why is the lounge on the
- 40:45Enterprise D called 10 forward and if you don't know for sure
- 40:52why do you think it's called 10 forward like what what would be a sensible
- 40:55reason for them to refer to a part of the ship as 10
- 41:00forward if it was like say like like a boat say yeah like if like if there was
- 41:05like like a floor plan of it say and and it
- 41:10was you know room room 10 at the front of the ship something like that it's
- 41:15it's it's uh level deck 10 forward sure
- 41:20right oh okay yeah okay that makes sense in the show that's ination there's no
- 41:24disputing that as a fact right that's that the episode where he was like by
- 41:28the way it's called this because no no no they well they don't right because
- 41:32they didn't have to right because no one no one was trying to do weird [ __ ] like
- 41:36they do in okay so look you know what I'm gonna say right y do you remember
- 41:40this right so I don't quite but I at the beginning of the series right when
- 41:44they're still in the the present day which is the future like after the
- 41:47events of peard season 1 peard season 2 starts and he's still in his correct
- 41:51time and all that kind of stuff and gynan he goes to see Gyan because he's
- 41:54in love with his Romulan housekeeper he doesn't know what to do
- 41:57he goes to Earth to where he gets he find where he thinks the coordinates of
- 42:03where Gyan is or whatever and he discovers that she's got a bar at 10
- 42:07forward Avenue in Los Angeles and I'm thinking well that's a bit silly she
- 42:12looked for a Street Coin address that that is matches the the yeah where loue
- 42:18is located the bar that she had in the Enterprise right but
- 42:22then she goes back he they go back in time and he goes goes to find gynan or
- 42:28he goes to find the Watcher who is gynan or Gyan whatever it's
- 42:32convoluted she's got that bar in 2024 and so you're saying they named the
- 42:39lounge on the ship after the address the straight address there's two
- 42:45possibilities used to own one is the writers of this show didn't for some
- 42:51reason didn't watch Star Trek the Next and didn't realize the reason it's
- 42:55called 10 Ford is cuz it's that's where it [ __ ] is on the ship she didn't
- 42:59just pick the name for the bar that's the location and I I look this up they
- 43:04there's multiple points where they something happens and they go location
- 43:07is deck 10 forward section and then it shows the L like it's not I'm not making
- 43:12that up that's a thing right either the writers didn't know that or the writers
- 43:17thought you know what'll be cool if gy [ __ ]
- 43:22requested the [ __ ] bartender went to the Federation and said I'd love put a
- 43:27bar in exactly this one in your ship are there any ships where this particular
- 43:31room is free and that doesn't have a bar already I just don't understand see this
- 43:38is a problem trying do this this is a problem trying to force East eggs into
- 43:44everything yeah especially in Star Trek because even like Matt I would say
- 43:48you're even mid-range pedantic about Star Trek there's dudes out there taking
- 43:53notes in each episode you know exactly I'm not I'm not that hardcore and but as
- 43:57soon as I saw it I was like wait it's called that because it's where it is
- 44:01yeah like even I know that and that's George Lucas kind of writing there isn't
- 44:06it it's it reminded me of oh Anakin built 3PO like okay I mean I guess but
- 44:12why why would you write that well you don't have to write that you didn't have
- 44:16to you to explain why he built something that's clearly mass produced okay maybe
- 44:20he found one and he fixed it or he found the parts of an unfinished one cuz I
- 44:25looked up online and people are like oh maybe you know gyan's race of aliens
- 44:28maybe they experienc time differently and all this kind of stuff and I'm like
- 44:31or maybe the writers just suck bading don't try and explain it for them but I
- 44:37can tell you what I did like about season
- 44:41two Alison Phil I knew you g to say I
- 44:46really have to disagree I'm sorry I hate every not every I hate most of the cast
- 44:53of this show the characters are insane to me
- 44:58no she just watch dear Wendy please for the love of God it's a finest
- 45:04performance of her tits these are the
- 45:07worst Federation officers in the Galaxy
- 45:12I'm sorry the things they get up to in the past when they' been [ __ ] told
- 45:17they've been [ __ ] told right don't do anything that could change the
- 45:23future okay guys like yeah high speed stole [ __ ] police car like come on
- 45:30guys terrible [ __ ] um he's bringing his girlfriend under the ship with his
- 45:35son like he meets that girl at the clinic uh oh yes the the the
- 45:42captain know I just can't remember he [ __ ] just bring they're
- 45:47just bringing people on the ship with their kids telling everybody he tells
- 45:50that immigration officer they're from the F like what are you
- 45:55doing how am I supposed to accept this m it's just so
- 45:59stupid anyway sorry we've only got two more episodes watch it it all Mak sense
- 46:05and I have heard that season 3 is good season 3 is a see you've said that
- 46:10you've said that and but but that's the biggest problem I have with is I know
- 46:13now like there's no way this will stand something's going to happen and q's just
- 46:17going to zap it all back out of existence and none of this stuff is
- 46:20going to matter and so I just don't care anymore like I'll watch it because I'm
- 46:24basically I'm hate watching it at this point I know it's going be wiped out
- 46:27it's not possible for them to pretend that that that things are going to be
- 46:31okay after all this nonsense yeah so yeah but yeah season three a lot better
- 46:37all right I'm sick of this youve got to watch two dumb Seasons before it starts
- 46:42getting somebody you can watch season 3 without I'm I promise I like I said I
- 46:48haven't even seen the end but I promise you this is all going to be Zapped out
- 46:50of existence it's not possible that this will stand no way and it just annoys me
- 46:56cuz it's like why did you why did you write this some
- 46:59degree I think you could probably even watch season two without watching season
- 47:03one yeah the only thing that would be confusing is that they do refer to the
- 47:07fact that Bard is a robot yeah but that's sort of it which I know that's a
- 47:12yeah bit of a big thing but that's yeah just another episode they talk about
- 47:18that but then he also tells that FBI agent well I am human you're not mate
- 47:23you're not human you're a robot now I think not how Picard became a robot and
- 47:28just having to accept it is no different to watching solo without having watched
- 47:33the Clone Wars and then just having um Darth Mo suddenly back from the dead and
- 47:39also with spider legs you be like that's right why is [ __ ] did I
- 47:46miss so yeah I I know that he's came back but only from hearing about I never
- 47:52saw it happen I never heard about it I never saw it and I was blindsided
- 47:57and then I was like wait this takes place before um the phantom
- 48:03menace oh yeah
- 48:07no remember which nerd I was with no actually because um speaking of slightly
- 48:13confusing we watched the first episode of Fallout I assume watched
- 48:20one I have't because I'm not going to get to finish it before I left and I
- 48:25don't want to watch on a small screen I did watch the first episode again
- 48:29though my overall feeling is that it's quite good and yet for some reason it's
- 48:34not compelling enough to make me want to keep watching it I will but every time I
- 48:39go to put it on I'm like I could watch this or I could watch Seinfeld and I'll
- 48:42end up watching two episodes of Seinfeld okay yeah is it just time
- 48:49because the episodes are longer yeah I think it's they're long I don't I just
- 48:53but but but there's shows that are that long that are just like [ __ ] what
- 48:56happened next and this isn't that I'm I'm enjoying it it's very good but it's not
- 49:02compelling we are getting a season two yes they've confirmed season two it's
- 49:07very popular yeah yeah so I've been watching I I watched season one with
- 49:12with Jenna who doesn't like Bethesda games as you watched the whole season no
- 49:17no sorry watched the episode I should say y with Jenna um who she doesn't know
- 49:24much about the Fallout Universe to be honest like she's seen stuff and we've
- 49:27been to Bethesda events and stuff like that but she's not played the games and
- 49:31she was very confused right by it and I
- 49:36was like oh does this assume that I know certain things because I can't help but
- 49:42know for example what the Brotherhood of Steel is and the Brotherhood of Steel
- 49:46they mention the AR asking question she was like who the [ __ ] are these dudes
- 49:51I'm like oh yeah I guess they don't really they do say like somebody says
- 49:55I'm assuming they will they cuz they're not like either I'm just curious at the
- 50:00end of the season will will they have assumed too much like or they have
- 50:06filled all the blanks by then it's a very at all they're just in the
- 50:11vault they didn't actually think from what I've seen from stuff I think they
- 50:15are going to explain the Vault a little bit more in the second episode somebody
- 50:19says kind of what a vault is because all right but actually and even even in the
- 50:26first one there where it says like coming up on the season you see it looks
- 50:29like the younger brother who the 30y old man is going to investigate
- 50:34what Stu yeah because there's definitely a point where she's she's in well it's
- 50:40Megaton but it's not it's called something else it clearly the and um and
- 50:46somebody like nobody is freaked out that a vault dweller is just walking around
- 50:51right like no one's going how did you get out or anything like this everyone
- 50:54recognizes the uniform even though it's from hundreds of years ago and they they
- 50:58weren't around then right but everyone takes it yeah yeah that's right they
- 51:03take it for granted but they all say like oh what are you doing here you know
- 51:07rich girl you're you know vaults were for rich people to not get irradiated
- 51:11and it's like yeah okay that's sure all right guys I'm gonna have to do
- 51:16something terrible I'm gonna have to we're gonna have to stop this recording
- 51:19I'm have to drop out my computer's about to die sorry I leave you here I it is
- 51:25plugged in all right let's man the problem is we're
- 51:31gonna have to end the recording so I can upload oh all right so you have to do a
- 51:37new one so sorry guys I'm not going to here for after party but I didn't say I
- 51:41was going to be here at all so you got me bye everyone that's
- 51:45true about it all right all right we're back with that L
- 51:51take two thank God he's gone he's left yeah well I guess those Maids Tiding up
- 51:56his room were offering extra Services Above and Beyond cleaning and he was
- 52:01like guys I'm going to have to go yeah they came in and he surreptitiously
- 52:05unplugged his laptop yeah that's right yeah I watched I said I was watching
- 52:11Seinfeld there's this episode I watched today where George gets um grapefruit in
- 52:15his eye and he keeps winking like this so people people keep thinking he means
- 52:20something else and then he's in his office and his boss and his boss's wife
- 52:23come in he's like uh anyway I'll I'll see you after for the massage and
- 52:27George's like right your massage and the wife's
- 52:31[Laughter]
- 52:36like I got watch I was thinking well it's funny today because I was I was
- 52:39doing the ironing this is my glamorous life I was doing the ironing in here and
- 52:44yeah and H was folding clothes in the in the Lou room and she was watching
- 52:48friends and I was watching Seinfeld and uh so I was seeing a bit of
- 52:52both as I was going in and out and I realized that friends is very optimistic
- 52:57compared to Seinfeld like friends everything works out for them even if it
- 53:02looks like it won't it'll work out in one way or another and everyone feels
- 53:05good at the end Seinfield is the opposite no matter what good thing
- 53:08happens to you during that episode you'll be back to square one by the end
- 53:11of the episode your bad luck will just reset um so you don't watch this to feel
- 53:17good about them you watch it to feel good about yourself for not being in their
- 53:22situation I got to add that it's going to be next of the uh old show honestly
- 53:26don't know if you like it or not and I'm I'm I didn't like I told you we watch we
- 53:30tried it we watched the first couple and I didn't didn't get me in fact it
- 53:34annoyed me because it was like there's no end yeah well it it that gets worse
- 53:40in a way because actually I think it gets better and then it gets worse so in
- 53:43like the kind of third fourth season maybe third fourth fifth it really got
- 53:48popular right like like no one watched the first season some people watched the
- 53:52second which is why all the episodes you know are from like third fourth then it
- 53:57the froger one and all that yes yes they
- 54:00the episodes start getting more bizarre and
- 54:05um yeah and in more abstract and then uh but now the season I'm up to now they
- 54:12don't even do the um standup bits at the start and finish
- 54:17oh that's gone yeah and uh cuz people say oh it's a show about nothing no it's
- 54:23not it has a premise the premise is is a comedian how do comedians get their
- 54:28jokes weird stuff happens to them through the day and so the bit that he
- 54:32does at the end is always based on observations made during during the day
- 54:37the episode um but yeah they just that goes out the window at a certain
- 54:41point so it really just ends it just ends yeah right okay credits all you
- 54:48know who I think is the best actor on it though is um Jerry Stiller who plays
- 54:53George's dad oh yeah oh yeah sure sure and his Ben still his dad in real life
- 54:58yeah yeah um he's been the dad since the first season but just here and there
- 55:03when you see his dad but by now they're like no this guy's funny we're writing
- 55:06him into every third episode at least so he's just always there I saw it
- 55:11interesting it was is a thread on X Twitter and it's a guy who does um like
- 55:16men's fashion I don't even know how this he his his threads are very interesting
- 55:21and so I guess I've clicked on a few and so now it just shows us all his threads
- 55:24to him but he did one about how um people think George castano is like this
- 55:30kind of schlubby you know losery guy but
- 55:33style wise sure he's actually really on point at all times and he does like a
- 55:39whole series of like George like Styles and it's like yeah that's funny I made
- 55:45that correct right right yeah CU there's a right now George scammed his way into
- 55:52working for the New York Yankees and he's like he's an executive at the Yankees right and
- 55:57um he wears the most beautiful clothes to work like he had like these kind of beige
- 56:04slacks and this Navy double breasted blazer with brass buttons I'm like that
- 56:09is [ __ ] stylish you know and I think at at a certain point he gets fired and
- 56:15he starts wearing his tracksuit around again but sure yeah well it's it's funny
- 56:21because I do like having not watched the show that much when when someone says
- 56:24George castanza I think of him as like a you know like a a slob just he's not
- 56:29yeah yeah he's not at all uh well not in this Twitter thread anyway the one thing
- 56:34I noticed uh is that Jerry is a sociopath and I think at the start he's
- 56:41more normal but by where I'm at now like there's this one episode now where he
- 56:45doesn't want to comfort his girlfriend when she cries and um and he's always
- 56:50looking at George and George is always like put your arm around and he's like
- 56:55don't want and then uh like there the whole episodes about how like George I
- 56:59me Jerry doesn't give a [ __ ] when people cry like he just feels nothing and it's
- 57:04like this is yeah this this this guy's associate path yeah it is a bit dark um
- 57:11before we move off of Fallout what was the actor who the the cowboy actor that
- 57:17that you knew the name Walton gogin Walton goggin right so I I saw this
- 57:21interview with him this week that I thought was funny and probably true but
- 57:25also a little presumptuous cuz he was saying he's he's he's saying he's famous
- 57:30now for the first time in his career right oh okay cuz he's he's he wasn't
- 57:35before I don't think he that he was yeah but you liked him I think people that
- 57:41like him he's in stuff that I like yeah okay so he said that everyone used to
- 57:46just say hey you're that guy you're that guy from that right so this his exact
- 57:52words were I used to be known as that guy now I'm known as the sexy ghoul and
- 57:57I was like you could have just said ghoul ghoul yeah the
- 58:02ghoul the title that comes up the ghoul yeah you added sex sexy ghl he doesn't
- 58:08say sexy ghoul huh yeah do oh he implied though right sexy is implied maybe he
- 58:13was joking the sexy ghoul even so yeah yeah I mean maybe or maybe women are
- 58:19just [ __ ] going nuts for it maybe it's that no NOS they like well yeah I
- 58:25mean it's like uh um Beauty and the
- 58:30Beast with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perman and Ron Perman were like women would
- 58:34write me [ __ ] letters saying you are my perfect man he's like a I'm a monster
- 58:39and B I'm an [ __ ]
- 58:44like I've kidnapped this woman maybe he mistakenly got the
- 58:51letters I sent Linda Hamilton yeah that's possible yeah mhm mhm come and
- 58:57bench press
- 59:01me um we've got some
- 59:05followup yes about we got two two pieces of followup um one I think probably we
- 59:11should keep this brief because we have talked we've talked ad nauseum about
- 59:14both of these topics right yeah but one of them deserves to be talked about more
- 59:18one of them okay I want to talk about Graham Hancock right we've talked about
- 59:23it in quite a bit I'm sure listeners are probably sick of it
- 59:26doesn't matter we don't care what they think in the show notes I've got a link
- 59:30he was on Joe Rogan again right and I really think this is worth watching SL
- 59:36listening to No matter what you think so this is Flint Dibble who is an
- 59:41archaeologist an actual here's what I think ctif I us to like both of them and
- 59:45now I don't like either of them but I still find them both entertaining yes
- 59:50it's flip dble uh versus I guess Graham
- 59:54Hancock and it's really good because D's really smart and he knows
- 1:00:00his [ __ ] and it's four hours of from the
- 1:00:05way I heard it I know in the comments people maybe and from other places on
- 1:00:09the web people maybe didn't hear it the same way but to me it was 4 hours of
- 1:00:13grah Hancock slowly walking back his whole [ __ ] Theory and going well I
- 1:00:19never said that does yeah until until he finds a spot where dibble's like well we
- 1:00:25don't know and then he's like well we don't know maybe we should find out
- 1:00:29shouldn't we all I'm saying is let me do the digging let me I want to play a clip
- 1:00:34right and this is this is uh this is happens like an hour in right and I'm
- 1:00:40like conversation really should be over at this point right I'm just going to
- 1:00:44play this little clip but what I'm saying is that not enough of that 27
- 1:00:49million square kilometers has been investigated only a tiny fraction has
- 1:00:53been investigated and that fraction is not enough to draw the conclusion that
- 1:00:58we can absolutely say there was no Lost Civilization same goes for the Amazon
- 1:01:01rainforest same goes for the Sahara but but can we say there's no evidence for
- 1:01:05an advanced civilization in what they have studied in what they have studied
- 1:01:10yes we can say there's no evidence for an advanced
- 1:01:14civilization thanks Graham yeah thanks yeah thanks for actually just saying
- 1:01:20there is what we've all been thinking yeah yeah yeah but is there evidence
- 1:01:25because I think I think what Rogan was expecting him to go Oh in what they've
- 1:01:28shown yeah and it's suggest that we should keep looking not there were
- 1:01:32several times where Joe innocently asks a question like that and Graham's like
- 1:01:36well I mean obviously if you want evidence we don't have that but we don't
- 1:01:40what we also don't have is not evidence yeah and we've got an abundance
- 1:01:45of not not evidence abundance of non evidence of its
- 1:01:50nonexistence and as you know a double negative leads to proof positive it really
- 1:01:56is it is it come it does come down to that whole thing of like he's like well
- 1:02:01you can't prove there wasn't a l civilization there literally a point
- 1:02:05where he says um dibble's talking about how there's no evidence of Agriculture
- 1:02:10before the younger D and gr H is like yes exactly so what did it come from and
- 1:02:15he's and he's like I don't understand what you're saying gr there's no
- 1:02:18evidence of it and it's like well who who showed them how to do it it's like
- 1:02:22what do you mean who showed them how to do it well obviously there must have
- 1:02:24been somebody who knew how to do it before the decied to culate it listening to me
- 1:02:31there's no evidence that anybody anybody was doing it before there would be
- 1:02:35evidence that the people that you're talking about were doing it in order for
- 1:02:38the teacher and Graham's like well we just we just don't know do we all right
- 1:02:43mate all right fair enough look I'm no archaeologist okay great we'll leave it
- 1:02:48at that then gra you prove to me that unicorns don't
- 1:02:53exist have you ever not seen one
- 1:02:56national animal of Scotland yeah the uh
- 1:03:01the the the sad thing is I [ __ ] love Atlantis I'll I'll read or watch
- 1:03:08anything to do with Atlantis I love even Dibble says in this Graham I love your
- 1:03:12books they're fascinating but mate it's not real I just really wish you'd give
- 1:03:19more yeah and and he and he he says that the thing that annoys him is when he
- 1:03:23goes on this Netflix show and he talks about archaeologists are conspiring to
- 1:03:27[ __ ] me and it's like mate we're not we don't give a [ __ ] it's like I listened
- 1:03:34to um I listened to this [ __ ] four
- 1:03:37part podcast on uh the Kennedy
- 1:03:41assassination um by um it's called tides
- 1:03:48of History right okay and he's he's pretty good and uh and then he always
- 1:03:54addresses listener questions in mail and stuff at the start of each episode so at
- 1:03:58the next one when it was about something else [ __ ] I don't know the tutters or
- 1:04:02something he was like I just have to uh because he basically said there was no
- 1:04:07conspiracy OS not alone right after all the evidence that's what it was and so
- 1:04:11in in the next episode about something else he was like I just have to address
- 1:04:14all of the emails that I got and everyone who tweeted at me saying that I
- 1:04:18was in on it he goes I can assure you I'm not in on
- 1:04:24it yeah yeah yeah yeah section of that interview
- 1:04:29it gets awkward because Hancock's like reading um from articles that quote
- 1:04:35Dibble saying negative things about Han and it's always like he's like oh he
- 1:04:40finds a tweet where this guy said something mean about him and it's like
- 1:04:43what does this have to do with your argument like your your your theory like
- 1:04:47okay they were mean to you on the internet like yeah it's did you listen
- 1:04:51to the two interviews that Sam Harris recently did with um
- 1:04:58the uh Pro Islamic uh author I forget
- 1:05:04his name is that the guy so I'm not a subscriber anymore so I think I've heard
- 1:05:08the first half of them that's the guy that he had on and then he had him back
- 1:05:11on because the guy had said in some interview that Sam was harassing him
- 1:05:15about yes so I listen and I I then after I heard that went and listened to the
- 1:05:21first one again and then listened to the followup right so
- 1:05:26this comes also just after Sam did you listen to the episode where at the start
- 1:05:29Sam's like I'm actually gonna just not take personally when people engage me on
- 1:05:36Twitter anymore I'm just people disagree I'm just going to say okay well you
- 1:05:40think your thing I'll think my thing I'll keep talking I keep doing my
- 1:05:43podcast but if we disagree I'm not going to debate you anymore we'll just agree
- 1:05:46to disagree and I was like okay that's an interesting coming from Sam Harris of
- 1:05:49all people in the very next episode he has this guy on who traveled in are you
- 1:05:56pissed you son of a
- 1:05:59[ __ ] anyway who traveled in the Middle East what can I do traveled in the
- 1:06:05Middle East um and lived in in all of
- 1:06:09these different two dogs man I know no no no I know I know the episode you mean
- 1:06:14yeah yeah yeah yeah and then um towards the end he starts
- 1:06:19going but don't don't you agree that Islam is just a violent religion and the
- 1:06:24guy's like no I don't agree agree that people who have bastardized it commit
- 1:06:30senseless violence all the time but the people that do it properly aren't
- 1:06:34violent at all and Sam just disagreed and it was just it was awkward because
- 1:06:38the guy clearly was like I've made my point don't keep asking me I'm not going
- 1:06:41to change Sam just didn't he didn't hear it was deaf to him then he gets him back
- 1:06:47on because the guy says to another guy on another podcast yes s just would let
- 1:06:51it go which he wouldn't then he comes back on and he's like you're Sam I
- 1:06:56shouldn't have said anything about you on in public you know maybe I should
- 1:07:00have just kept it to myself or sent you an email saying hey that was not I feel
- 1:07:05like you kind of pushed me on a subject that I didn't didn't want to get on so I
- 1:07:09apologize for that and s's like okay great because because now I'm going to
- 1:07:13really hammer in and hold you to task and the guy's like look you can but I'm
- 1:07:17telling you right now I'm not going to change my mind I've got the same answer
- 1:07:20as I gave you last week and actually there's a ton of stuff we do agree on
- 1:07:24that I'd love to talk to you about and S like no that's not why you're here and
- 1:07:29then spent the rest of the hour just going you've got to admit their violent
- 1:07:34and him going I'm not going to I don't agree
- 1:07:38yeah yeah I love Sam and then and then that he comes back on CU I'm still a
- 1:07:43subscriber so yeah I know but after that he's like well most of you listening
- 1:07:48probably felt like how I felt frustrated and I'm like no man I felt for the
- 1:07:53reason you think we did yeah I felt like I was just in in an awkward conversation
- 1:07:58that I just wanted to back out of cuz you couldn't read the room his uh his
- 1:08:03most recent one with Cal Newport I found the first part because like I said I'm
- 1:08:06not a subscriber right now but it made me want to hear I wanted to hear the
- 1:08:09rest of that I find Cal Newport pretty interesting so um yeah I haven't
- 1:08:13listened to that one yet actually no it's pretty good just about like
- 1:08:18uh you know social media's effect on society yes he thinks he does a lot of
- 1:08:25talking about that yeah he's into like digital minimalism he calls it which is
- 1:08:29basically like don't be on [ __ ] Twitter all day mate it [ __ ] you your
