- 1:06Sean McAllister: Welcome to episode 292 of Vegas Revealed.
- 1:10Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister and Dana Roselli here with you.
- 1:14Sean McAllister: And Dana, it's good to see ya.
- 1:16Dayna Roselli: It's good to see you.
- 1:17Dayna Roselli: We have a lot to talk about.
- 1:19Dayna Roselli: You just got back from a vacation in Hawaii.
- 1:21Dayna Roselli: We're gonna save that probably For another time.
- 1:25Dayna Roselli: For another time, because that's a whole thing.
- 1:27Dayna Roselli: But we have so much to go over.
- 1:29Dayna Roselli: Want to start with, let's start with our fan mail.
- 1:32Dayna Roselli: Hey Jennifer from San Antonio, Texas.
- 1:34Dayna Roselli: Thanks for your note.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: She says, love your show and look forward to it each week.
- 1:40Dayna Roselli: Have to say that this episode 290 had me rolling this morning.
- 1:45Dayna Roselli: Let me see that jelly roll.
- 1:48Dayna Roselli: And J-Row will be stuck in my head all week with the laughing-crying emoji.
- 1:54Dayna Roselli: So thank you, Jennifer, for finding value and appreciation in our humor.
- 1:59Sean McAllister: Well, yeah.
- 2:00Sean McAllister: And I think sometimes we always wonder.
- 2:02Sean McAllister: We're like, do people just think that we're crazy or is it entertaining to listen to our conversations?
- 2:08Sean McAllister: Hopefully it's entertaining.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: I hopefully.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's a thing.
- 2:11Dayna Roselli: Like, it's a time saver for us to not have to edit.
- 2:14Dayna Roselli: So that's a perk for us.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: And then hopefully, because we don't really edit it much, people get amusement out of it.
- 2:21Sean McAllister: You get the raw, unfiltered conversation.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: Well, we have a laundry list of things to go over.
- 2:27Dayna Roselli: One of them, I'm just gonna talk about a couple of the things I said that I would.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: When you were gone, I went to a do a lot of things.
- 2:34Sean McAllister: Well, I was gonna say, but just before we get to that, we do always love getting fan mail.
- 2:39Sean McAllister: And there's a link down in our show notes where if you click it, it's gonna open up uh the text message right on your phone.
- 2:46Sean McAllister: You send us a text with your thoughts, let us know your name, and we'll mention it here on uh the podcast because we really do love hearing what you have to say.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: Yes, we love the text.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: We get excited when we see boop, you have fan mail.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, so I did a lot.
- 3:04Dayna Roselli: One of the things I was supposed to do was go to the Global Champions Arabian tour.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: That was at the win.
- 3:11Dayna Roselli: I said I was gonna do that.
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: It did take place.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: However, it was a very tricky weather weekend.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: The time periods I was supposed to go, the wind and kind of quick monsoon ruined it.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: So I never made it over there.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: But I have friends that went and said it was a gorgeous, beautiful event.
- 3:30Dayna Roselli: They were bummed the weather ruined some of the time periods of the event.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: But um, Meg and Trainer did perform.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: They had a beautiful luxury tent there.
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: Uh, the horses were gorgeous.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: And so we hopefully, I don't know, I was bummed for the organizers and everyone because I feel like we have such good weather here.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: It was like the one weekend where an outdoor event was kind of, you know, cut short.
- 3:56Sean McAllister: Well, and it was an odd time where uh in the evening on each of the days, all of a sudden a a thunderstorm cloud just popped up and the wind picked up, and it was really weird how the timing of everything just like kind of happened as the event was really kicking into high gear.
- 4:19Sean McAllister: So that that was unfortunate timing for the weather.
- 4:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, right.
- 4:24Dayna Roselli: I mean, they did have parts of it, but um that one night that big gust came in, and that really, you know, when you have outdoor tents and stuff like that and beautiful things, it was tough.
- 4:33Dayna Roselli: And of course they wanted to keep the horses safe, and they were all safe, which was wonderful.
- 4:37Sean McAllister: It did look beautiful though, and we are expecting them to come back here to Las Vegas next year.
- 4:44Sean McAllister: So uh hopefully Mother Nature cooperates next time.
- 4:48Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 4:49Dayna Roselli: Hopefully.
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: Hey, I went to Paul McCartney at Allegiant Stadium.
- 4:53Dayna Roselli: That was a wonderful show.
- 4:54Dayna Roselli: Um, my friend asked me to come along.
- 4:56Dayna Roselli: I was like, okay, this is gonna be an iconic moment.
- 4:59Sean McAllister: So envious.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: We were like 18th row.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was pretty incredible.
- 5:04Dayna Roselli: Let me tell you.
- 5:05Dayna Roselli: Paul played for like, I want to say like three hours, close to three hours.
- 5:10Dayna Roselli: It was incredible.
- 5:10Dayna Roselli: And I always hate to say for his age, that's amazing.
- 5:13Dayna Roselli: But you know, let Paul's not hiding it.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: He's a certain age, and that's it.
- 5:18Dayna Roselli: He talked a lot about, you know, the old days and the current times and you know, all that kind of thing.
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: Um, the stories he told were wonderful.
- 5:25Dayna Roselli: He really like intertwined.
- 5:28Dayna Roselli: It was great because when he sang Beatles songs, he talked about this was the first song we recorded together.
- 5:35Dayna Roselli: This was a big moment when this this was we were at our peak.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: Yes, it was wonderful.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: Mixed in some of his solo stuff.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: Um he played piano, he was in great spirit spirits, guitar.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: He had a great style.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: He took off his jacket, he had like this cool, like, you know, the inside of the suit jacket.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: It was all like clouds.
- 5:57Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah, like the lining in the stuff.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he had a great lined jacket.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: He was just stylish.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: You know what?
- 6:03Dayna Roselli: I am just so so happy.
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: You could just see the joy he loved uh that he has in performing, and the crowd was so into it.
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: There were some parts that were emotional and they would show on the big screen.
- 6:13Dayna Roselli: People had tears streaming, you know, down their eyes.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: He talked about a song he wrote for John Lennon.
- 6:18SPEAKER_06: Wow.
- 6:19Dayna Roselli: And that, you know, guys don't often say back in the day, especially, I love you.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: And he said, you know, like I didn't say it enough to him.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: And like then I wrote this song after, and like luckily, people say things like that more and more as the years have gone on.
- 6:32Dayna Roselli: So it was just a great concert, um, very emotional, very moving, and saw a lot of familiar faces there at Allegiant.
- 6:40Dayna Roselli: It was it was great.
- 6:41Sean McAllister: Well, and I mean, it's just incredible.
- 6:43Sean McAllister: More than 60 years of performing for Paul McCartney and still selling out uh arenas like Allegiant Stadium.
- 6:53Sean McAllister: And we were over there recently uh for a separate uh interview and we're talking with uh one of the workers at Allegiant, and he was saying that uh he has heard uh through the grapevine that Paul McCartney really loves going to play new venues that he hasn't played before, and especially venues that have a lot of new technology, uh new technology abilities, right?
- 7:20Sean McAllister: Like Allegiant Stadium does, because that kind of keeps him like upping his game as the years go on.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: And I think he said it didn't matter what size, like Allegiant Stadium happens to be very large, right?
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: But if he found a more quaint place in a different city and it was brand new and had cool technology, he was gonna play there.
- 7:37SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: So I love that.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: And let me tell you, Sean, he used it like there was this one song.
- 7:41Dayna Roselli: I have video of it.
- 7:42Dayna Roselli: I need to put it up still on TikTok where it was fireballs galore.
- 7:47Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 7:47Dayna Roselli: Like you could feel the heat, and it was just it was popping in there.
- 7:51Dayna Roselli: I it wasn't just one little fire moment.
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: The fire kept going, and I kept thinking, this is Paul saying, Hey, let's use fire.
- 8:00Sean McAllister: Let's use fire.
- 8:01Sean McAllister: I don't think that I would expect that.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: This is on my phone.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 8:07Sean McAllister: Oh, that's all over the place.
- 8:08Sean McAllister: The whole back of the stage, the side of the stage.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: It kept going and going.
- 8:12Sean McAllister: Lasers and smoke.
- 8:14Sean McAllister: But good on you, Paul.
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Paul was into it.
- 8:17Sean McAllister: Well done.
- 8:18Sean McAllister: I like it.
- 8:19Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 8:19Dayna Roselli: Hey, before that, um, I went over to Virgin Hotels for um dinner.
- 8:23Dayna Roselli: I was with Johnny Katz uh from the Review Journal and entertainment columnist.
- 8:27Dayna Roselli: He loves to go over there and eat at the um the steakhouse bar, one steakhouse.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: And then, of course, the iconic Johnny behind the bar.
- 8:36Dayna Roselli: Um it's a great spot.
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: Um, anyway, we went there.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: There was live music in the lounge, which was wonderful.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: They were playing the UNLV game on the screens.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: It was very vibrant, and and we had so much fun there.
- 8:49Dayna Roselli: The food is always good at one steakhouse, and you can eat at the bar.
- 8:53Dayna Roselli: It was wonderful.
- 8:54Dayna Roselli: Um, but when we were there, we saw Cliff Atkinson, the um president of Virgin Hotels.
- 9:00Dayna Roselli: That's where one steakhouse is, um, on a Saturday.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: And I hey, hey Cliff, you know what you do?
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: He's like, Oh man, he's like, We're sold out all weekend, every room.
- 9:08SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 9:09Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 9:10Dayna Roselli: He was, I was so proud of him because he has taken over this property and really done a lot.
- 9:16Dayna Roselli: We all saw the potential.
- 9:17Dayna Roselli: It's beautiful.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: Fresh carpet, brand new enhancements, uh, great restaurants, wonderful pool.
- 9:25Dayna Roselli: And for a while there, the casino floor was very quiet, but not on this Saturday.
- 9:31SPEAKER_06: Good.
- 9:32Dayna Roselli: It was packed.
- 9:33Dayna Roselli: He said they were completely sold out the entire weekend.
- 9:36Dayna Roselli: There were people like friends of his, like, hey, can I get a room?
- 9:39Dayna Roselli: And he was like, I got no room for nobody.
- 9:41Dayna Roselli: But uh Megan Moroni was also playing there at the theater.
- 9:44Sean McAllister: And she's a a wildly popular, like rising country star.
- 9:50Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: He's out of Nashville.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: He said the line was wrapped around to get in.
- 9:53Sean McAllister: She's got fans.
- 9:54Sean McAllister: I mean, you know her young fans.
- 9:56Sean McAllister: You're I know you have uh friends, kids who absolutely love her.
- 10:00Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: And he was saying that.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: There are some, you know, younger, you know, guests here for that.
- 10:05Dayna Roselli: But I mean, still, the whole place was vibrant.
- 10:08Dayna Roselli: Um, but it has been consistently growing, and that that's the type of weekend they've been having lately.
- 10:14Dayna Roselli: So um, I'm thrilled for him.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: And you know what?
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: That's a dedicated present.
- 10:17Dayna Roselli: Just a big shout-out to Cliff for being there on a Saturday, going, hey, we're sold out.
- 10:22Dayna Roselli: Hey, we've got this big concert.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: I'm going in.
- 10:25Dayna Roselli: You know, great.
- 10:26Sean McAllister: Which is great to see, you know, the decision makers actually down on the ground with the people.
- 10:34Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 10:35Dayna Roselli: I loved that.
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: So um, that was great and free parking.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: And free parking.
- 10:39Sean McAllister: And by the go ahead.
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: No, I was just gonna say, and here's the deal.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: I got another story.
- 10:43Dayna Roselli: Do you want to go first?
- 10:44Sean McAllister: Well, I was just gonna say it just made me think when you were talking about one steakhouse, how um in their lounge area they have like a live music series.
- 10:52Sean McAllister: Yes, I do.
- 10:53Sean McAllister: We get updates in our email all the time about the updated list of performers who are there performing.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: Um, and I've every time I see it, I'm like, man, I need to make a point to go over there because I know Johnny behind the bar.
- 11:07Sean McAllister: I know that they have great food over there, and I need to make a point to go and enjoy it.
- 11:13Dayna Roselli: Oh, it was so much fun.
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the singer they had that Saturday was great, playing piano.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: Um, did a lot of covers, but they were great.
- 11:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: Um, so yeah, it was a good time.
- 11:22Dayna Roselli: Um, parking though.
- 11:23Dayna Roselli: Um, here's the deal.
- 11:24Dayna Roselli: I'm not gonna say the property because we already know there's a lot of properties on the Las Vegas strip that now charge for parking.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: But I was with a group of 15 people.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: We went to see a show.
- 11:35Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 11:36Dayna Roselli: Um, a friend said, Hey, I'd love you guys to come see this show if you haven't seen it yet.
- 11:40Dayna Roselli: My my friend is handling some of the uh promo for it.
- 11:45Dayna Roselli: Um, you gotta see it.
- 11:46Dayna Roselli: So we went over and we were all supposed to go out for like just some snacks and drinks after, you know, hang out as a big group.
- 11:54Dayna Roselli: But we got there early and then um the show was a little longer than we thought.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: By the time we got out, Sean 12 of the 15 people left because their parking was about to expire as a local.
- 12:11Dayna Roselli: The three-hour parking.
- 12:13Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 12:14Dayna Roselli: And so three of us hung back.
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: I actually had um a a free parking pass that I used uh in Valet because we cover a lot of stuff, and um the two others were a couple together in one car.
- 12:30Dayna Roselli: So anyway, we stayed back and had some drinks and appetizers and stuff, and then the other 12 left.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: And I thought this just can't like I don't get like the paid parking, like I it just can't like it's just again, like those people would have bought drinks and appetizers, and then who knows what it would the what the night would have led on to.
- 12:50Sean McAllister: I mean, we have talked about this many times in the past about how we have gotten out of a a show or an event and have thought about staying to go grab a bite or to get a cocktail, but because of the parking, like that's a thing that hangs over you.
- 13:11Sean McAllister: And I mean it's like well, I can't.
- 13:13Dayna Roselli: It's 20 bucks, yeah.
- 13:15Sean McAllister: But guess what?
- 13:16Sean McAllister: That it's not 20.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: I think I think it's closer to 35 at some places on the weekend, even.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: But that$35 is enough to make people leave your property instead of spending another$150 at one of your restaurants.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: Or$100 and leaving your workers a tip and uh all that.
- 13:40Sean McAllister: And it just makes me wonder like, are the people who are making these paid parking decisions are they like do they just not care that that I don't know$35 is driving people away?
- 13:53Sean McAllister: Literally.
- 13:54Sean McAllister: Is that thirty yeah, is that thirty-five dollars that important?
- 13:58SPEAKER_04: I don't think.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: I mean, because people are they're trying to get out of a property before the free parking expires.
- 14:07Dayna Roselli: Well, it's like I can leave it zero and go eat somewhere else.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: Right?
- 14:12Dayna Roselli: I can not pay anything.
- 14:13Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 14:14Sean McAllister: Go to another place.
- 14:15Dayna Roselli: Go to another place or go home.
- 14:17Dayna Roselli: Either or or for that 30 or 35 or 40 or whatever,$25.
- 14:23Dayna Roselli: Then I'm gonna eat and drink here.
- 14:26Dayna Roselli: So now the bill is like even larger than like if I was gonna spend a hundred bucks, now it's a hundred and thirty-five, then I've got a tip, right?
- 14:34Dayna Roselli: All that.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: So it like, yeah.
- 14:36Dayna Roselli: So I don't I don't know.
- 14:37Dayna Roselli: Uh by the way, Fountain Blue just announced they're doing free parking for all locals through December 31st.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: Also, all uh anyone who has a rewards member card, which is really easy to sign up for.
- 14:49Dayna Roselli: So we're hoping that might spur some more trends like that.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: Um, but yeah, I don't know.
- 14:54Dayna Roselli: It was just, I just thought, you know, because usually when it's a couple of us, we've talked about it before, but I thought this is a group of 15 people.
- 15:01Sean McAllister: That's a lot.
- 15:01Sean McAllister: That's a lot.
- 15:02Sean McAllister: 12 just left.
- 15:03Sean McAllister: It's a lot of money to leave on the table.
- 15:05Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 15:05Dayna Roselli: So I don't get it.
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: Anywho, how was Benson Boone?
- 15:10Sean McAllister: Oh, Benson Boone was great.
- 15:12Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 15:13Sean McAllister: So he performed over at T-Mobile Arena.
- 15:16Sean McAllister: Um, there were fans of varying ages who were at the show because he has a lot of younger fans, but a lot of fans like our age too, just because he's great.
- 15:28Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 15:29Sean McAllister: And, you know, has the people say he has the Freddie Mercury kind of vibes with his style of singing, with the showmanship that he puts into his performances.
- 15:39Sean McAllister: And man, he must have done, you know, he's famous for his back flips during his concert.
- 15:43Dayna Roselli: And front flips.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: And front flips, all the all the flips, all the flips, all directions.
- 15:48Sean McAllister: There must have been at least six flips throughout the entire show.
- 15:54Sean McAllister: I was thinking there would be one, maybe two, right?
- 15:56Sean McAllister: But he kept going.
- 15:57Sean McAllister: You were on the flip alert.
- 15:59Sean McAllister: You were on flip alert.
- 16:00Sean McAllister: I was because I missed the first couple because I was like, oh, I wasn't expecting that.
- 16:05Sean McAllister: And then it was too late.
- 16:07Sean McAllister: And then I just happened to get video of the next few.
- 16:12Sean McAllister: Um, but he is just, I can't say enough about him as a performer.
- 16:17Sean McAllister: He is just so good.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: Entertaining.
- 16:19Sean McAllister: The fans were loving it.
- 16:23Sean McAllister: He kind of flew around on a big chandelier at one point.
- 16:28Sean McAllister: Um, it was a great show.
- 16:30Sean McAllister: There was a couple from uh New Zealand who were standing next to us.
- 16:33Sean McAllister: They flew in from New Zealand for four days just for the Benson Boone concert.
- 16:39Dayna Roselli: Well, that's the thing about when there are even just concert stops in Vegas, because you can come for that concert.
- 16:44Dayna Roselli: If you're gonna pick out of the whole United States, right, where am I gonna go see Benson Boone on his tour?
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: You're gonna go Vegas because then there's a lot to do on the other days.
- 16:51Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: So it makes sense.
- 16:53Sean McAllister: And they packed it in.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: Good.
- 16:55Sean McAllister: They were doing all the things.
- 16:57Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 16:58Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, he is great.
- 16:59Dayna Roselli: The concert looked great.
- 17:00Dayna Roselli: We have some highlights on our social media, on our TikTok, on our YouTube Shorts.
- 17:04Dayna Roselli: If you want to see Benson in Las Vegas, could be because maybe you're gonna go to a show.
- 17:08Sean McAllister: And I I know that Benson is still like uh a rising star, however, I uh could easily see him do like uh an engagement of performances in Vegas.
- 17:22Sean McAllister: His performance style is like 100% geared toward oh yeah, the residency style production.
- 17:31Dayna Roselli: I mean, I definitely think he could get people, but the yeah, he might just be too young for it at this point.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, but I just think he has potential to be one of those performers down the road who would uh put on uh a heck of a residency show.
- 17:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he's got energy and he's he is a good performer.
- 17:50Dayna Roselli: You're right, he is very Freddie Mercury-esque.
- 17:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, and just such a good, like such a good uh person, too.
- 17:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, he has so many songs about family and all that.
- 18:00Sean McAllister: He's a good kid.
- 18:01Sean McAllister: Like like I like Benson Boom.
- 18:03Sean McAllister: He's only like in his early 20s.
- 18:05Sean McAllister: I looked it up afterwards and I was like, holy crap.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: I always feel like that's the one thing people do at shows.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: I do it every single show.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: I google people's age.
- 18:13Dayna Roselli: Every single show.
- 18:15Dayna Roselli: Literally, it's the one thing.
- 18:17Dayna Roselli: And I think about like how many people Google age at shows, right?
- 18:22Sean McAllister: Well, a lot.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: Because I looked up Sir Paul McCartney, he's 83.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: Jeez.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: 83.
- 18:29Sean McAllister: 83 83.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: And he did almost three hours, or if not three hours.
- 18:35Dayna Roselli: We went to 8:30, I think.
- 18:37unknown: 10:30.
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I want to see we left after 11.
- 18:40Sean McAllister: Jeez at the other end of the spectrum, Benson Boone, 23.
- 18:44SPEAKER_03: Well, there you go.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: Maybe they need a duet.
- 18:47Sean McAllister: They they would that would be an awesome duet.
- 18:49SPEAKER_03: That would be an awesome duet.
- 18:50Sean McAllister: Get the fire going, get Benson flipping.
- 18:53Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 18:54Sean McAllister: Sir Paul playing.
- 18:55Sean McAllister: Love it.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, I did go to Mandalay Bay to see Bob Marley Hope Road in person.
- 19:00Dayna Roselli: That was great.
- 19:02Dayna Roselli: Uh, they have uh a fantastic crew of dancers and performers in this.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: I thought it was more of just kind of an immersive thing, but it's actually a show, an immersive show.
- 19:12Dayna Roselli: You move through rooms, and so it was very different, um, experiential.
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: There was a little, you know, audience involvement.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: And if you like that type of thing and you like Bob Marley's music, reggae music in general, you really like um dancing.
- 19:31Dayna Roselli: That I think a lot of the performers are straight from Jamaica, somebody was telling me, um, and came here to Las Vegas just to perform in this show.
- 19:39Dayna Roselli: So, um, and it's right there on the casino floor.
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: I hope it sticks around.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: I know these things are hard.
- 19:46Dayna Roselli: So I'm I I know they're trying to get more people in to see it and some more eyes on it.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: So if you feel like that's something you'd be interested in, I think that the tickets are$69.
- 19:59Dayna Roselli: They started.
- 20:00Dayna Roselli: It's not bad.
- 20:01Dayna Roselli: And the show was about 75 minutes.
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: So, like uh about an hour and 15 minutes.
- 20:06Dayna Roselli: You get a lot out of it.
- 20:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: And when you enter the room, there's a bar where you can grab a drink first.
- 20:11Dayna Roselli: And um, so anyway, if that's your thing, you think you'd enjoy this if you love reggae music, and even if you don't, I mean it's a show, it's something different.
- 20:19Dayna Roselli: So go over and see Bob Marley Hope Road.
- 20:22Sean McAllister: But really well done, right?
- 20:23Dayna Roselli: Very well done, yes.
- 20:24Dayna Roselli: And just a lot of talent in those, I would say in that room, but in those rooms.
- 20:28Sean McAllister: In those rooms.
- 20:29Dayna Roselli: Yes, in those rooms.
- 20:31Sean McAllister: Oh, I like it.
- 20:32Sean McAllister: I need to, I that's another thing that's on my on my list of to-dos.
- 20:38Sean McAllister: I'm glad that you got over there to see that.
- 20:40Sean McAllister: Hey, uh, we have some other uh concert performance announcements to let you know about.
- 20:46Sean McAllister: Cindy Lopper has announced her first ever Las Vegas residency.
- 20:52Sean McAllister: This is super cool.
- 20:53Sean McAllister: It's Cindy Lopper live in Las Vegas.
- 20:55Sean McAllister: It's going to be over at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace April 24th through May 2nd.
- 21:02Sean McAllister: And uh I had the opportunity to uh talk with Cindy Lopper when Kinky Boots was at the Smith Center.
- 21:10Sean McAllister: This was years ago.
- 21:11Sean McAllister: Um, but you know, she was uh a part of the she kind of helped do the music for Kinky Boots.
- 21:18SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 21:18Sean McAllister: And uh she was fantastic, to talk to.
- 21:22Sean McAllister: She is uh uh obviously an icon.
- 21:26Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 21:27Sean McAllister: And I was kind of starstruck by her.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: I bet.
- 21:29Dayna Roselli: You know, I just so funny because recently sometimes I'll hear a song and then I add it to my favorites list, and it just kind of goes in the recycle.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: But I've been listening a lot to her song all through the night, and it's so lately, just lately, and I was like, this is such a good song.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: And then it was so weird because then in my inbox it was like Cindy Lopper gets her first ever Vegas residency.
- 21:48Dayna Roselli: So it was like, woo, that was weird, but yet she has great music.
- 21:52Sean McAllister: Uh huh.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: I think she's gonna be great.
- 21:54Sean McAllister: That's that is a performance that you will not want to miss.
- 21:58Sean McAllister: Yeah, for sure.
- 21:59Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be a The Coliseum at Caesars Palace from April 24th through May 2nd.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: Doesn't mean she won't add on, because you know how that happens.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: But she's gonna bring her girls just wanna have fun show for this special run to Las Vegas.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: Um and I guess it's for a lot of the fans they say who missed her farewell tour to celebrate one last time.
- 22:20Dayna Roselli: They figure, well, we'll do this special engagement.
- 22:23Dayna Roselli: Now people can come from all over the world.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: She'll be at the Coliseum.
- 22:25Dayna Roselli: Tickets are on sale now.
- 22:27Dayna Roselli: Um so we look forward to um uh watching this show and seeing this show.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: And and Sean, I noticed that Brian Burke Creative is behind this one.
- 22:36Dayna Roselli: We've interviewed him before.
- 22:38Sean McAllister: We did.
- 22:38Sean McAllister: And if you listen, if you look back in our previous episodes, you'll be able to find that interview with Brian Burke.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: Um he's done uh I mean incredible uh he produces incredible live uh concerts, events, um, and has such great innovative ideas.
- 22:58Sean McAllister: Like uh the big uh stage that Luke Bryan would uh go on during his residency over at Resorts World.
- 23:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he did the the Las Vegas F1 opening ceremonies, which was incredible, where they used like what, like I don't even know, endless performers and different stages.
- 23:14Dayna Roselli: He works with Lionel Ritchie a lot.
- 23:16Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 23:16Dayna Roselli: So this'll be a good show.
- 23:18Dayna Roselli: I'm looking forward to it.
- 23:19Sean McAllister: That will.
- 23:20Sean McAllister: I mean, the two of them together.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 23:22Sean McAllister: An icon with someone as uh creative and innovative as Brian Burke.
- 23:28Sean McAllister: That's exciting.
- 23:30Dayna Roselli: And hey, on another note about the Coliseum, uh a surprise, Rod Stewart has announced he will return in 2026 with the Encore shows at the Coliseum.
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: He um we hear his listen, we hear his shows sell out consistently, so why not add more?
- 23:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's a long farewell, and that's okay.
- 23:48Sean McAllister: Well, I understand.
- 23:49Sean McAllister: A long encore because we announced the end of his Rod Stewart the Hits residency, and then like the next day, Rod Stewart, the Encore shows were announced, and now the extension of the Encore is announced.
- 24:05Sean McAllister: Well done, Rod.
- 24:06Dayna Roselli: Well done, Rod.
- 24:07Dayna Roselli: Keep it going.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: The new shows for 2026 will run May 27th through June 6th.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: All right, let's quickly talk Dolly.
- 24:16Dayna Roselli: Dolly had to postpone her run of shows.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: Uh she was coming to Las Vegas in December at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace to do uh like her first really big residency here in Las Vegas in 32 years.
- 24:31Dayna Roselli: Um it's during National Finals Rodeo, but she had to postpone.
- 24:34Sean McAllister: Yeah, she was having some health issues, she's getting those taken care of uh back at home, and um for the meantime is uh laying low so that she can take care of whatever she needs to uh uh take care of to get healthy and back out again.
- 24:50Sean McAllister: Um but she did put a video out on social media saying, hey, you know, I'm not dying, I'm still here, I'm still working, but I need to stay close to home to get some things uh taken care of.
- 25:02Sean McAllister: She didn't go into specifics.
- 25:03Sean McAllister: Um her shows at the Coliseum were sold out for uh this upcoming December.
- 25:09Sean McAllister: Those have been postponed until September of 2026.
- 25:14Sean McAllister: Uh but in the meantime, there has been another performer announced to fill the dates that Dolly was going to do coming up in December.
- 25:22Sean McAllister: I know, and it's a good one.
- 25:23Sean McAllister: Tim McGraw.
- 25:24Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 25:28Sean McAllister: A Coliseum?
- 25:29Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: I've definitely done shows in Vegas.
- 25:32Sean McAllister: But his show with uh Faith Hill, the two of them together over at the Venetian was fantastic.
- 25:38Sean McAllister: And it was so sexy, wasn't it?
- 25:40SPEAKER_05: I loved that show.
- 25:41Sean McAllister: Oh, the way that they looked at each other and sang, and then they're both just gorgeous people.
- 25:47Sean McAllister: And oh, they are.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: And that was and we I I don't know, were you at that Vegas magazine party where they were both at?
- 25:52Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it was cool.
- 25:54Dayna Roselli: We got to meet them in person.
- 25:55Dayna Roselli: It was like country royalty.
- 25:57Sean McAllister: They really are.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: He was in that movie with Sandra Bullock, too, right?
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: He's a he's a good actor.
- 26:01Sean McAllister: In um That's Tim McGraw, right?
- 26:03Sean McAllister: Yes, uh it was.
- 26:05Sean McAllister: With a football player.
- 26:06Sean McAllister: Yes, and he was in the Yellowstone uh spin-off, too.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: Oh, was he?
- 26:11Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 26:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I haven't seen the Yellowstone stuff.
- 26:13Sean McAllister: The 1886 really good actor.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: So anyway.
- 26:19Dayna Roselli: All right, so he'll be at the Coliseum December 4th, 6th, 12th, and 13th.
- 26:23Dayna Roselli: If you're coming in for National Finals rodeo, go see Tim.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: Tickets are on sale.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: Um this will be good, I think.
- 26:29Dayna Roselli: And so he will fill that week for Dolly.
- 26:32Dayna Roselli: Dolly's coming, plans to come in September.
- 26:35Dayna Roselli: And in that video, she said, listen, you know, and I feel for her, man.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: Her husband passed away, and she said, I should be should have been taking care of myself, and I wasn't.
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: And now I don't feel like I can rehearse to plan the show that I want to do for you in December.
- 26:50Dayna Roselli: So uh hopefully we'll see her here in Las Vegas in September.
- 26:54Sean McAllister: I hope so.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: Um, hey, we're getting a look at uh what the area, the fan zone surrounding the new A's stadium is going to look like.
- 27:04Sean McAllister: The the A's are moving to Las Vegas, they'll start playing ball here, uh baseball in 2028.
- 27:11Dayna Roselli: Uh which everyone still isn't sold on.
- 27:13Dayna Roselli: Which everyone is like, whatever, I don't know.
- 27:16Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 27:17Dayna Roselli: I'm seeing beams that go up at the stadium.
- 27:19Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 27:19Sean McAllister: There's construction.
- 27:20Sean McAllister: There's more than dirt being moved.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: There's like uh foundations being poured, like the whole thing.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: So who knows?
- 27:27Sean McAllister: It's st it it it's moving forward.
- 27:29Sean McAllister: Right.
- 27:29Sean McAllister: And Bally's Corporation, uh, which owns that uh lot of land, the former Tropicana site, uh, they've released the renderings of what that entire fan zone at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana is going to look like.
- 27:46Sean McAllister: And man, they're gonna have everything in there.
- 27:49Dayna Roselli: They really are.
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be Bally's Las Vegas, and uh it's gonna feature two luxury hotel towers, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue with retail, dining, and entertainment offerings.
- 28:02Dayna Roselli: Um, it's also going to include a casino and a VIP experience with direct access to the ballpark.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: So that's all in the works.
- 28:10Dayna Roselli: Um, they had to get, they submitted something to Clark County and they were waiting for that.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: And then I believe it said they were gonna start, hoping to start construction sometime in 2026.
- 28:23Sean McAllister: Yeah, so we are going to uh keep our eyes on that site and let you know as that entire project progresses.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: All right, Sean.
- 28:32Dayna Roselli: You know, we've been getting away from tips a little bit because we feel like we do so many tips within the podcast.
- 28:37Dayna Roselli: And today I'm kind of excited because uh I see our friend Mark Gray at the door, knocking on the door at the studio, and I feel like we need to talk to him.
- 28:48Sean McAllister: Let's bring him in.
- 28:53Dayna Roselli: It's like Mr.
- 28:54Dayna Roselli: Rogers neighborhood.
- 28:55Sean McAllister: It is.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: Mark, welcome to the Vegas Revealed Studio.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: This is what it looks like, huh?
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: This is where the magic happens.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: This is it.
- 29:02Dayna Roselli: Now, listen, Mark is a longtime journalist here in Las Vegas, uh, writes for People Magazine, a number of different publications, a new author, and we're gonna talk to Mark about his new book that just came out.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: It's a very important book.
- 29:17Dayna Roselli: Um, but we're gonna do that in one of our podcast extras so that we can really dig in.
- 29:23Dayna Roselli: But we thought let's talk to Mark, introduce him about his history here in Vegas and being our longtime friend.
- 29:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, and Mark, how long have you lived in Las Vegas now?
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: About 20, a little over 20 years, 20 and a half.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: I I moved here the week the win hotel opened.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember watching the news.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Of course, I was not invited to such a thing at that point in my life.
- 29:42Dayna Roselli: It was low clout until, you know, one year later.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: It really was.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: I still haven't been there.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: No.
- 29:49Dayna Roselli: But wow, you've lived here for a while then.
- 29:51Dayna Roselli: So you and I used to do some uh red carpets back in the day.
- 29:56Dayna Roselli: I was doing some freelance work for Life and Style, I don't know, TV guide, all sorts of stuff.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: But that's kind of how things kicked off because magazines did a lot of celeb sightings in Las Vegas back then.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: That's exact that's very, very true.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: And and you remember, I actually was working PR before I did that.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: I worked PR for about a cup of coffee in this city.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: Uh and about a year and a half or so.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: And at that point, I was doing public relations for Pure Nightclub.
- 30:25unknown: Oh my god.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: Rest in peace.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, and a couple other things.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Mama Mia was my client.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, but really, Pure was such just a beast.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: It was such a mammoth beast of a client.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: So that was really where I spent so much focus.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: And Pure at that point was getting to celebrities every single night pop in, you know, A-lister after A-lister after A-lister.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: And I was trying to think of how can I get press out of these kind of things.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: And so I started asking, how do we do such things?
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: I was brand new to the PR world.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: And they said, Oh, well, we, you know, my boss at the time said we let the media know.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: I didn't know what that meant.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: I said, So wait, you just write, you know, you sent an email that says, you know, at Pure Nightclub on Tuesday with a colon and George Clooney or something.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: I thought that was kind of dumb, somewhat lazy.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: And I was a journalist prior to working PR.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: And I said, you know, journalists, especially newspaper guys, which I was, we want everything handed to us on a silver platter.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: And uh so I said, What if I just went to the club?
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: It's open to the public.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: Anyone who's there and pays their 20 bucks can get in and see whatever celebrity A, B, and C are doing.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: So I started doing that.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: Now I I knew in advance which celebrities were going to be there, certainly.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: But so I'd go, I'd just stand in public, and I'd basically jot down a story based on what they were doing in the club.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: And it was all just total promo for the club, obviously.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: And I started sending it out to the people magazines, the Axis Hollywoods of the world, these kind of places.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: And it just took off like a rocket ship.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: And after probably three or four months of this, People Magazine emailed me out of the blue and said, We stopped sending people to your venue because you're getting better stuff than our writers get.
- 32:02SPEAKER_01: So why don't you just work for us and cover all of Vegas?
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: And so that's what I did.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: That was uh in 2006.
- 32:09Sean McAllister: So you created a job for yourself.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I did.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: And they they they created one for me, but yeah, it was based off of I guess what I had done on in a in another facet in the PR world.
- 32:21Dayna Roselli: That's really interesting.
- 32:22Dayna Roselli: I don't think I knew that, that you actually came up with well, the idea of doing it, which then transpired into something else.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was doing these very deep sightings of you know what they what they were doing, what they were drinking, who they were interacting with, what the club was like, what song was playing during this moment.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: You know, if I knew they went to dinner prior to prior, I would, you know, they went to dinner after dinner at Mesa Grill or whatever kind of thing.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: And I would just do these very detailed stories that you could almost copy and paste and put into different you know media outlets.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: And that did happen sometimes where they just copy and paste it.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:00Sean McAllister: Well, I was gonna say, I know I appreciated getting the emails because I had just launched uh an entertainment lifestyle TV show here in Las Vegas right at that time, and we loved getting these emails of these celebrity sightings because we were like, great, we've got brand new content for this morning's show.
- 33:23Sean McAllister: And the work's all done for you.
- 33:24Sean McAllister: The work's what the work was done.
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: And Sean, the show that you um were working on really was the only entertainment TV show in town.
- 33:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think.
- 33:33Sean McAllister: There were segments uh that you know some other entertainment reporters had at different TV stations, but there wasn't a show dedicated to right entertainment lifestyle stuff, like we see now all over the place.
- 33:47Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 33:47Dayna Roselli: And then you were shooting in the morning.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: So the fact that Mark was out at night at the club did the work for you, and you didn't have to go.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: It was clutch.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: And that was and that was another thing that I I still pride myself on to this day is I won't go to bed until the work is done.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: So I would go to the nightclub when I was doing PR for them, or even when I transitioned to People Magazine, I was doing that uh as well.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: I would be up until two, three, or four in the morning writing these signings, sending them in because I knew how important it was for morning.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: Because for the morning TV shows, this is brand new information, you know, and they're trying to fill their docket day in and day out, and it's a grind.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: So if I can help and get my you know, my clients some publicity, yeah, why not?
- 34:27Sean McAllister: Well, I've never properly thanked you.
- 34:29Sean McAllister: Thank you for making my job so easy, Mark.
- 34:31Sean McAllister: You can pay me later.
- 34:32Dayna Roselli: And I feel like even for morning radio, right?
- 34:34Dayna Roselli: Because back then radio was still really big.
- 34:36Dayna Roselli: Morning, morning radio was huge, especially um especially back then, before the world of podcasts and where we could listen to things whatever we wanted at any time.
- 34:47Dayna Roselli: So and remember we used to have the little tape recorders that we'd press record on and I still use the data.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: Do you really?
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: I still use the data, but you don't use your phone?
- 34:55Sean McAllister: No, I only use my phone if I forget my recorder.
- 34:58Sean McAllister: Do you still use the little cassette tapes?
- 35:00Sean McAllister: No, I've done you.
- 35:01Sean McAllister: Did you progress to digital?
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, I did.
- 35:03SPEAKER_01: I progressed.
- 35:03SPEAKER_01: I progressed.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: I have a little USB and it hooks right into the computer, so I can listen to it through the through the computer speakers.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the the tape though, I still have my little tape recorder though.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: I do too.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: I still have it.
- 35:14Dayna Roselli: I found it, tried to like change the batteries, and there's a whole bunch of stuff on there from uh Paris Hilton and the I don't know, the cast of scrubs one time at the Palms, like all sorts of random interviews.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Do you ever look back?
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: I I do this all the time.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: Do you ever look back and think, you wish you had some sort of documentation about all the people you spoke with, and then look back and say, Why did I speak to this person at all?
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: And who is this person at the same time?
- 35:41Sean McAllister: Well, more importantly, yeah, especially looking back now.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: There's there's many a time, I'm sure this that you had the same problem.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: You you both did, I'm sure, is that when you're especially at award shows, when someone gets thrown in front of you and you have no idea who this person is, right?
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: And you're just trying to wing it.
- 35:57Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 35:57Sean McAllister: My best example of that was probably around 2007, I think, uh, the Billboard Awards.
- 36:05Sean McAllister: It was the first year that the Billboard Awards were here in Vegas over at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
- 36:11Sean McAllister: We were doing a big uh red carpet show.
- 36:15Sean McAllister: It was live.
- 36:16Sean McAllister: I was in the control room back at the TV station, and a producer was on the phone with me telling me who was who was coming up next, so we could get the graphics already, all that.
- 36:27Sean McAllister: And the producer said, Hey, um, we have these kids from uh a Disney movie that's coming out.
- 36:37Sean McAllister: Um it's something about like high school, and we had no idea what this movie was or who was involved in it.
- 36:48Sean McAllister: It turned out to be Zach Efron and the high school musical cast.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's interesting.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: I I have an interesting one that's kind of funny too, is that also the Billboard Awards, this was the first one at T-Mobile, so it would have been in what 17 or so, I believe.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: Something like that.
- 37:03SPEAKER_06: 17, yeah.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: I was there and I was had a I was on the red carpet and I had a terrible spot.
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: It's towards the end, and I wasn't really getting a whole lot of interviews.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: They must not have known who you were.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: Well, they thought you did.
- 37:13SPEAKER_03: I I think they did.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: That's why I was at the end.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: But I had a terrible spot, and a friend walks down and she sees me, and she starts talking about how we had these kids who were hanging out all morning at at this in the kind of the plaza, the the uh what what they call it?
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: The Toshiba Plaza.
- 37:31SPEAKER_06: Toshiba Plaza, yeah.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: They had some kids, you know, several hundred kids hanging out there all day.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: And I said, What for?
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: And she goes, There's some band.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know who they are.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: And she goes, and apparently there were hundreds more at the airport waiting for these guys.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: And I said, Who is this band?
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: She goes, I don't know, BTS or something.
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh! And I had never heard of these people.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: And I'll be honest, I don't think many had either on the red carpet because that was one of the few interviews I did get was BTS.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: And everyone was saying, We don't know, we don't know these guys.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: They kept just pushing them along.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: They came to me.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: Now I only spoke to them because I had nothing else to do.
- 38:04SPEAKER_01: And then fast forward to that night at the Billboard Awards, and these guys sweep the awards, and everyone's going nuts.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: Kelly Clarkson was hosting that year, and she put the earmuffs on because she knew the crowd the crowd was gonna be so crazy.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: So I went home that night and I was one of the only interviews with BTS, not because I was so smart, but because I was, I don't know, too lazy, I think.
- 38:25Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: Uh sure enough, I got this great start with BTS and no one else did.
- 38:30Dayna Roselli: That's amazing.
- 38:31Dayna Roselli: But that's the fun, that's the cool stuff that happens, you know.
- 38:34Dayna Roselli: Um that's really great.
- 38:36Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 38:37Dayna Roselli: I mean, recently when we went to the American Music Awards, that Kai got thrown in front of me.
- 38:41Sean McAllister: He's a huge streamer.
- 38:44Dayna Roselli: I had no idea.
- 38:45Dayna Roselli: I felt so dumb after because now I've investigated and posted about him and you know, our interview, and I'm like, this guy is like through the roof.
- 38:53Dayna Roselli: But that it is hard when you're like, uh, what do I ask this person?
- 38:57Dayna Roselli: I always go right away away to the Vegas question.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 39:01Dayna Roselli: That's my immediate because it's like There's always something.
- 39:04Dayna Roselli: What do you think of Vegas?
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: What do you think of Vegas?
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: What do you like to do in Vegas?
- 39:07Dayna Roselli: What do you visit Vegas a lot?
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: Would you ever consider residency here if they're a music artist?
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: I hear that one a lot.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: That's why I know people that they're they have nothing else to say when they ask that one.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:16SPEAKER_01: Like, this guy's got you know half a hit.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: What are you talking about?
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: A residency.
- 39:20SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: Do you ever you ever look back and think um how many stories you have that never saw the light of day because of vulgarity or something that just sort of I mean, stories you take to your grave.
- 39:32Dayna Roselli: Right, right.
- 39:32Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, I got a lot of those too.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of those.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: A lot of that.
- 39:36Dayna Roselli: Think about it all the time.
- 39:37Dayna Roselli: Why do you think they stopped doing the celebrity appearances at nightclubs?
- 39:41Dayna Roselli: Because I feel like it worked.
- 39:42Dayna Roselli: It brought people there.
- 39:43Dayna Roselli: They gathered around the carpet, then they were like, I want to go in.
- 39:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, we still get sightings of you know, celebrities just randomly going, but I feel like there's not planned, planned.
- 39:54Dayna Roselli: There's not why I wonder.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know why it is, but there's you're you're correct though.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: There's not as many as that.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: Because back in those days, the night was planned around celebrity A, B, and C.
- 40:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: You know, you had the Paris Tilton's birthday party or something like that.
- 40:06Dayna Roselli: Janet Jackson was at Tau once, like all sorts of yeah.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: But now, I don't know, the DJ game changed though, too.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: I think when the DJs became the celebrities themselves, because back in those days, it you know, was I'm sure these DJs are nice human beings, but you know, they were just kind of the the house DJ.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: And the focus was the celebrity, the movie star, the reality star.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: Now the DJ is the celebrity, the Testos of the world, the Calvin Harris of the world, the chain smokers, and so on and so forth.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: So I think you go to see them.
- 40:35Dayna Roselli: You know, maybe or maybe they just don't need it because they're going to see them and the lines lying.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: One draw to get people in the door.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: But I think there are also there are fewer clubs, at least super clubs, than there used to be too.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, back in the day, you gotta remember, like, you know, blush and you know, and tangerine.
- 40:52SPEAKER_04: Oh, it was my Christian Otaje.
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: Oh my god, Christian Otage.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I met my wife.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: I met my wife at Taboo.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: You did?
- 41:00SPEAKER_05: I love Taboo.
- 41:02Sean McAllister: Taboo is the best spot ever.
- 41:04Sean McAllister: Ever.
- 41:04Sean McAllister: Sean.
- 41:05Sean McAllister: Right in the middle of MGM Grand.
- 41:07Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 41:09Sean McAllister: And then after hours, you go to Teatro if you're really frisky.
- 41:11SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 41:12Dayna Roselli: Those were the days, man.
- 41:14Sean McAllister: They were.
- 41:15Sean McAllister: That was a great era in Las Vegas.
- 41:20Sean McAllister: No, there were no rules.
- 41:20Sean McAllister: There were no rules then either.
- 41:22Sean McAllister: No, it was none.
- 41:23Sean McAllister: There were I remember seeing girls roller skating around inside of Taboo.
- 41:27Sean McAllister: That was me, actually.
- 41:28Sean McAllister: No.
- 41:29Sean McAllister: No, it was happening all the time.
- 41:32Sean McAllister: Just random people who would come in wearing roller skates.
- 41:35Dayna Roselli: Well, I think it was fun too, because we didn't have to pull out our phones.
- 41:38Dayna Roselli: Let's just be honest.
- 41:40Sean McAllister: True.
- 41:40Dayna Roselli: We enjoyed conversation.
- 41:42Dayna Roselli: We got tipsy.
- 41:43Dayna Roselli: We danced, we laughed, there were stories to be told, and we're going to be able to do that.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: That's why anything was allowed.
- 41:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Because it wasn't documented.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: True.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: Final night of Teatro, a couple friends and myself, I think it closed, I want to say, at like five in the morning when they finally shut the doors down the last night.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: We actually stole one of the stools.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: We would actually walk out of MGM with furniture into the lobby and no one stopped us.
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 42:11SPEAKER_04: That's great.
- 42:11SPEAKER_04: You gotta do it.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: We took it, we had all everyone signed it autographed.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 42:16Dayna Roselli: No idea what it is now, but what is LAX nightclub now?
- 42:19Dayna Roselli: Is that anything?
- 42:20Dayna Roselli: Or is that the the sports arena?
- 42:21Dayna Roselli: The esports arena.
- 42:22Dayna Roselli: Is that what it is?
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: Esports arena.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: I think it is, yeah.
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: Remember they had that speakeasy in there too?
- 42:27Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: Oh the name leaves me right now.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: Savile Rowe.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: That was it.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: I can still tap into those memories.
- 42:35Dayna Roselli: I remember being there and they're like, Kevin Fetterline's here.
- 42:38Dayna Roselli: I remember Fetterline.
- 42:39Dayna Roselli: How do we make him a celebrity?
- 42:40Dayna Roselli: Because he was married.
- 42:42Dayna Roselli: Was he married to Britney or just dating Britney?
- 42:44Dayna Roselli: He's married to his father.
- 42:45Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 42:45Dayna Roselli: Married.
- 42:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: He filmed his music video inside Pure Nightclub.
- 42:48Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: I can't remember the song, but can anybody?
- 42:53Dayna Roselli: Oh, Kevin.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: Probably Kevin, but that's even up for debate.
- 42:56Dayna Roselli: Do you have any Britney stories?
- 42:57Dayna Roselli: People always love a good Britney story.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, my two Britney stories are they're not great, I don't think, but the one was when she allegedly passed out at the nightclub on New Year's Eve.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: I was there that night, mind you.
- 43:11SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: And I didn't see anything of this nature.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: Um, I I think she did fall asleep.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: I don't think passed out's right where this at Tao?
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: This was at Pure.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, Pure, okay.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: This is at Pure.
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: Uh and it was New Year's Eve.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: And I remember I had to bounce back and forth between Pure and Jet nightclub that night.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: She has a two.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: Britney was at Britney was at Pure, and if I remember correctly, I think Fergie was at Jet.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: So I was going back and forth all night long.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: But I was there during the Britney moment, and it didn't seem like she passed out, but that's neither here nor there.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: The other Britney story, though, is I think you guys may have been there, wasn't she announced the residency in the middle of the desert?
- 43:48unknown: Oh.
- 43:49SPEAKER_01: You remember this?
- 43:51Sean McAllister: I did not go out there.
- 43:52Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 43:53Sean McAllister: No.
- 43:53Sean McAllister: I was producing a the morning show, waiting for the footage to come in.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: So we had to meet.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: They didn't tell us.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Where we were going.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: We had to meet at the Coliseum Steps at Caesars Palace at I think it was around two in the morning or three in the morning.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: It was really early.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: And so we went there, we boarded a bus with we did not know where we're going.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: You guys know Al Powers, the big photographer.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: I heard he talks about being brownbagged because they got on a bus with nowhere, we had no idea where we're going.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: And they take us out, you know, a good 30 minutes out of the city.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: And there's, I remember on the side of the road, there was a just a little lantern of some sort, you know, almost like a little small like a little luminary kind of deal.
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: And that was the sign to turn left.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: So the bus turns left, and then you're going up this dirt road up the mountain still.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: And you finally start seeing some people, and we got out to this big pasture, and there were hundreds of people.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: And they all had these cards.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: And there was a guy almost like a director of an orchestra out there, and he's saying, Lift down, lift down.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: And it was creating a visual of Brittany because she was going to helicopter in.
- 45:08unknown: Okay.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: So they wanted her to see the visual of all these cards.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: You know, almost like a football game, you know, with the same thing.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: And uh Brittany did see it.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: She landed, she got sick on the helicopter.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: So she was supposed to do interviews.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: I think she might have talked to Mario Lopez, I think.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: But she popped off the popped off the helicopter, waved.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: I think these people were promised a quick concert also, which they did not get.
- 45:35SPEAKER_01: But she waved real quick.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: I think she said hi to Mario, got in the helicopter, and left.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: And then we had to get driven back, of course, in the middle of the night.
- 45:44SPEAKER_01: It's now still only you know 4 30 in the morning because they were live for Good Morning America.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say, I think Good Morning America was live out there.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so they were so we had to get brown bagged and went back to Caesars Palace, which we arrived at five in the morning or so.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: Oof my gosh.
- 45:59Dayna Roselli: Isn't that interesting what we do for a story?
- 46:02Sean McAllister: You know what?
- 46:03Sean McAllister: We don't have residency announcements like that anymore.
- 46:07Sean McAllister: Like shutting down the strip for Shania Twain's horse parade.
- 46:11Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 46:12Sean McAllister: Remember when uh CeeLo Green pulled up on a flatbed truck with a flaming piano?
- 46:19Sean McAllister: I mean, we used to have now we get a press release.
- 46:23Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 46:24Sean McAllister: I mean, Gwen Stefani had a big one when she pulled up with all the bananas.
- 46:28Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 46:30Sean McAllister: Olivia Newton John drove down the link in a pink Cadillac flanked by Chippendales, dressed as Danny Zuko.
- 46:37Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 46:38Dayna Roselli: What?
- 46:38Dayna Roselli: Why are what's going on?
- 46:40Dayna Roselli: Where's all the good stuff?
- 46:41Dayna Roselli: This was the good stuff.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: That was a good era.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: It was a good era.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: That was a good era.
- 46:46Dayna Roselli: You know, a lot of times we interview people and they talk about back in the day when, you know, Sinatra, they used to go to this and they'd go see somebody else's show and it would go.
- 46:54Dayna Roselli: Like, that's their chat of the good old days.
- 46:56Dayna Roselli: Our good old days are ultra lounges and residency show announcements.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: We had no social media and a lot of creativity.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: We did.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: That's the difference, I think.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: Now it's all social media and it's all what can I record?
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, you're you're watching concerts through a six-inch screen these days, you know.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: When we watch concerts with these things called eyeballs, right?
- 47:15Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: That's vintage.
- 47:17Dayna Roselli: I feel like I feel like we could talk to Mark forever.
- 47:20Dayna Roselli: This should be like a regular, I think we needed like a regular segment with Mark.
- 47:23Dayna Roselli: By the way, we went to a wedding over the summer at Napa.
- 47:25Dayna Roselli: You heard us talk about it, and it was Mark's wedding.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: It was Mark's.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: Congratulations.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: We met at night at uh taboo, remember?
- 47:31Dayna Roselli: Yep, met at Taboo.
- 47:32Dayna Roselli: When did you two just meet through the entertainment world or do you have a specific because you guys are really good friends, Sean and and Mark?
- 47:39Sean McAllister: Uh we've just known of each other for for years.
- 47:42Sean McAllister: For years, yeah, but I think once uh I once I was married and became a University of Utah football fan by default.
- 47:54SPEAKER_05: Got it.
- 47:54Sean McAllister: I think Mark saw that I was all of a sudden watching these Utah games and wondered why.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: Through social media, true, yeah.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: Because I I'm from Salt Lake City originally.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: Uh I did not go to Utah.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: My dad did.
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: And I grew up Utah fan.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: We had season tickets to the football games, and I was a kid.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: So I am a Utah kid through and through.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: And I saw, you know, I saw his, I think it was Facebook.
- 48:16SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: And I said, Why is this is this guy from Utah?
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: And turns out he's not remotely close to Utah from there, at least.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: And uh I said, Why are you a Utah fan?
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: He said, Oh, well, my husband is a Utah fan.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: And I remember he asked, Where do you watch the games at?
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: And I said, Usually just at home.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: And from that day forward, we've we've done Rose Bowl parties, a couple of those in our house.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we've done road trips to games.
- 48:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:40Dayna Roselli: We said, Oh, that's great.
- 48:42Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 48:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, see?
- 48:43Sean McAllister: We have one scheduled coming up here and another month or so.
- 48:46Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 48:47Dayna Roselli: And what wasn't it like two weeks ago you were like having breakfast at Marks because watching a game?
- 48:51Sean McAllister: We did.
- 48:51Sean McAllister: We had a breakfast game.
- 48:53Sean McAllister: I don't think that game did not work in our way.
- 48:55Sean McAllister: It did not.
- 48:56Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 48:58Dayna Roselli: Got it.
