- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:06Speaker 2: All Right, well, quite frankly, I needed a solid twenty
- 0:09Speaker 2: four hours to cool down from how.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Heated I was yesterday to where I was.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Gonna come on this podcast one leg up with Alex
- 0:17Speaker 2: Garrett and start lacing.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Explanis how the F did he have a rifle? And
- 0:23Speaker 1: how the F did he just get.
- 0:24Speaker 2: In there walk in there with a rifle. But I've
- 0:27Speaker 2: calmed down a little bit. I've tried to get back
- 0:30Speaker 2: in the city.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Flow after still being very rattled.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I mean, look, I work in a office building. It's
- 0:40Speaker 2: rattling to know someone a killer. He's not just somebod
- 0:45Speaker 2: who's a killer. Just walked right in to three forty
- 0:49Speaker 2: five Park Avenue.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And start shooting and killing Officer.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Digital Slam, whose funeral is at as a local mosque
- 1:07Speaker 2: of the Bronx today.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Happening in a little bit.
- 1:12Speaker 2: But I'm infuriated that he was able to carry this out.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I'll be infuriated either way, but I'm infuriated that we
- 1:22Speaker 2: all saw it on closed circuit television.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And with no.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Form of defense, this former standout line running back carried
- 1:47Speaker 2: out his spite in the deadliest way possible.
- 1:52Speaker 1: In midtown Manhattan, instead of.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Being grateful for all the freaking times you got to
- 1:59Speaker 2: carry a foot, you got to carry out this act
- 2:02Speaker 2: of hate. Okay, you have grudges with the NFL. Well, pal,
- 2:09Speaker 2: maybe you weren't gonna make it. Maybe that was the
- 2:13Speaker 2: bottom line. But I do believe we're in a participation
- 2:18Speaker 2: in trophy generation. And I believe maybe there were people
- 2:21Speaker 2: that kept telling him you're gonna do great, You're gonna
- 2:23Speaker 2: be an NFL, You're gonna get there, and he.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Felt entitled to be drafted to the NFL. That's not
- 2:30Speaker 1: how this works. That's not how this works.
- 2:38Speaker 2: And to take that range of not being drafted out
- 2:42Speaker 2: in this way where you were targeting the NFL, if
- 2:50Speaker 2: you truly wanted your brain.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Studied, then you seek the proper help.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You don't go and go from carrying a football to
- 3:02Speaker 2: carrying a rifle into midtown Manhattan office buildings.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Let me say that again, if you wanted help, you
- 3:09Speaker 1: don't go from carrying a football up the field to
- 3:12Speaker 1: carrying a.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Rifle and playing daylight into an office building in midtown Manhattan.
- 3:19Speaker 1: That's not the way you solve any problem.
- 3:23Speaker 2: That's not the way you solve any problem.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And a lot of people today, how did he get
- 3:30Speaker 1: his concealed carry perman? I wonder that too.
- 3:37Speaker 2: His high school football coach called him a talented athlete today.
- 3:42Speaker 1: But became a different person. And it just feels like.
- 3:55Speaker 2: There needs to be a better equipped system to help
- 3:59Speaker 2: secure guards do their job right.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But I believe this started way before yesterday. I believe
- 4:08Speaker 1: sixteen year old.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Running back Shane Tumar was told he'd be a great
- 4:16Speaker 2: player in the NFL.
- 4:17Speaker 1: He was a standout guy.
- 4:20Speaker 2: You can make it, doesn't make it, doesn't get drafted.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Youth sports is.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Becoming an entitled problem here. Parents yelling at referees and umpires,
- 4:35Speaker 2: kids uh, you know, getting suspended from flipping a bat.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Youth sports is becoming a problem here. We're not focused
- 4:50Speaker 2: on how character could be built better than just giving
- 4:55Speaker 2: a participation trophy at the very very early onset. Sometimes
- 5:03Speaker 2: these athletes have to be told no, you can't make
- 5:07Speaker 2: it or I hate it sound so cruel about this,
- 5:10Speaker 2: but sometimes they have to be given a dose to reality.
- 5:14Speaker 1: At a young age.
- 5:19Speaker 2: We see a lot of people who have high school
- 5:21Speaker 2: football standouts and then unfortunately don't get drafted. But they
- 5:31Speaker 2: seem to be fine, they love re you know, reminiscing,
- 5:35Speaker 2: but they wouldn't go and be having grapes with the
- 5:38Speaker 2: NFL for not getting drafted.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And if you wanted your brain.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Studied, you should have just said it instead of blowing
- 5:48Speaker 2: out other people's brains.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And then.
- 5:57Speaker 2: The idea is that there were so many people that
- 6:00Speaker 2: saw this guy with the rifle they weren't gonna.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Touch him with a tempo pole to try and stop him.
- 6:07Speaker 2: But there's no It doesn't make sense that you know this,
- 6:20Speaker 2: and I'm gonna talk about this a little further. It
- 6:22Speaker 2: doesn't make sense how I was able to carry this
- 6:28Speaker 2: out in broad daylight. And if we become that fearful
- 6:34Speaker 2: of society or that I'm gonna look out for myself
- 6:37Speaker 2: that no one tried to tackle him in Mindow Manhattan.
- 6:40Speaker 1: When you see this, I've seen it.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I've seen videos where people are getting the kick the
- 6:46Speaker 2: shit kicked out of him and nobody goes to help
- 6:49Speaker 2: them because.
- 6:49Speaker 1: They don't want to get involved.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Yet all these wars were won because people stepped up
- 7:00Speaker 2: and got involved to fight.
- 7:01Speaker 1: The fight.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I would rather him been. There have been a tend
- 7:08Speaker 2: to take him down before he entered the building and
- 7:13Speaker 2: the braveness of those who called nine one one while
- 7:16Speaker 2: this guy was entering the building with a rifle. They
- 7:19Speaker 2: should be applauded and lauded. And this furthers the point,
- 7:24Speaker 2: by the way, why until you can figure out the
- 7:30Speaker 2: fair situation, there needs to be tighter security in.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Our MTA subways.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Guns are discovered on fair beaters. That is a fact
- 7:41Speaker 2: we've seen in police departments across the city and preachings
- 7:44Speaker 2: across the city. This is just a bigger example of
- 7:50Speaker 2: how when you give someone access, bad shit can happen,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and then building security. I'm gonna say what I wrote
- 8:03Speaker 2: today earlier on Facebook if I can, because I believe
- 8:09Speaker 2: in bringing the writing to the word.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I firstly believe that laws need to be changed.
- 8:23Speaker 2: If this is a fact, laws need to be changed
- 8:27Speaker 2: where companies and leagues, all four leagues or five leagues
- 8:30Speaker 2: or six leagues should be able to not have their
- 8:33Speaker 2: address on the website and should be made available by
- 8:38Speaker 2: request only. You want to mail something, call up an operator,
- 8:46Speaker 2: call up an office manager, call up somebody, call up
- 8:51Speaker 2: the league offices.
- 8:54Speaker 1: But to now have all.
- 8:56Speaker 2: These addresses out there in the public eye is disgusting.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Well, it's not disgusting what I just saw. It was disgusting.
- 9:10Speaker 2: The now Luigi Mangioni themed memes are being made about
- 9:14Speaker 2: this killer. No comparison. Mangione and this guy are evil people,
- 9:31Speaker 2: evil people. They're not heroes.
- 9:38Speaker 1: They're cold blooded killers. So stop with those memes. Anyway,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I got distracted there.
- 9:45Speaker 2: The whole idea here is there should be laws that say, hey,
- 9:50Speaker 2: for the safety of buildings, of the buildings in New York,
- 9:55Speaker 2: you are okay to remove your address and make it
- 9:59Speaker 2: by reques vetted request only. That should be a nationwide
- 10:04Speaker 2: push by vetted request only. So solutions so far I've
- 10:15Speaker 2: thought of, give kids a dose reality if you know
- 10:20Speaker 2: they may not be able to make it.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Don't give them participation, drophing. Don't give them.
- 10:24Speaker 2: False hopes and dreams that they can be an NFL
- 10:27Speaker 2: or because then if they're not drafted, they'll be sour.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Secondly, buildings need to be able to have.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Their websites remove addresses for the safety of the employees,
- 10:45Speaker 2: for the safety of.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Other tenants of a building.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And then thirdly is this we should have a conversation
- 11:03Speaker 2: about ct A further one. There have been tons of
- 11:09Speaker 2: nflers that have spoken out about ct and having.
- 11:13Speaker 1: CTE and.
- 11:22Speaker 2: If all he wanted was brain to be studied, then
- 11:26Speaker 2: he should have done something differently. But it seems like
- 11:31Speaker 2: an evil grew inside him beyond just not being drafted
- 11:35Speaker 2: clearly to shoot up and kill innocent lives.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And then, look, you may not like it, you may not.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Like it, but what if these security guards who do
- 11:55Speaker 2: their damned just to keep us safe, but they're not
- 11:59Speaker 2: armed and it does take a minute or two or
- 12:07Speaker 2: ten for reinforcements to come in. What if we clearly
- 12:18Speaker 2: gave our local doormen. And I hate to be this
- 12:24Speaker 2: so invasive, because I'm sure that would make tenants less easy,
- 12:28Speaker 2: even those who are the desks, you know, in the
- 12:31Speaker 2: tenants of buildings.
- 12:32Speaker 1: With security desks.
- 12:36Speaker 2: But to arm or to give some kind of defensive
- 12:42Speaker 2: training weaponry to.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Our hard working men and women that keep us safe
- 12:48Speaker 1: across our city.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Buildings, because we know the NYPD won't have resources to
- 12:54Speaker 2: expand every building in New York, but there could be.
- 12:59Speaker 1: If there could be just.
- 13:02Speaker 3: A training and a arming of some kind, a deterrence,
- 13:11Speaker 3: that's the word I'm looking for, a deterrent.
- 13:13Speaker 1: For this, we'd all be better off. We'd be all safer.
- 13:23Speaker 1: But in broad daylight, this happens.
- 13:26Speaker 2: This happens, and it does bring a chill, because now
- 13:33Speaker 2: if you're every league, if you're anybody, any business, I
- 13:41Speaker 2: would also think of the leagues, and you have disgruntled
- 13:45Speaker 2: former players or athletes that didn't get drafted.
- 13:55Speaker 1: This is chilling and it would, I do believe it
- 14:02Speaker 1: would get worse the lack of security if mom Donnie who.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Somehow all of a sudden woke up out of his
- 14:09Speaker 2: defund the police coma and said, our thoughts and prayers
- 14:12Speaker 2: are with the fallen officer.
- 14:14Speaker 1: It's too late. You've made your stance known. You've made
- 14:19Speaker 1: your stance.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Known, and now you're saying thoughts and prayers instead of
- 14:27Speaker 2: thanking the NYPD every day for getting up and doing
- 14:30Speaker 2: the job to defend the city.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Now now you choose to do it.
- 14:37Speaker 2: You wrote to the city in the City NYC newspaper
- 14:42Speaker 2: a bunch of different things about how bad the NYPD
- 14:45Speaker 2: is in A Q and A, And now now you
- 14:50Speaker 2: say that it's too late. It's too uh what's the
- 14:55Speaker 2: word I'm looking for? Capitalistic for a socialist to capitalize.
- 15:02Speaker 1: How funny is that? But it's too late. Your pandering
- 15:12Speaker 1: is no good here.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Well, Alex, maybe he's truly sorrowful.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know, he could be sorrowful every day.
- 15:22Speaker 2: He could be thoughtful every day about the police and
- 15:25Speaker 2: then MYPD.
- 15:31Speaker 1: But all I know.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Is this, there needs to be things changing, and I
- 15:44Speaker 2: would push for a national movement to firstly remove the website,
- 15:50Speaker 2: the addresses from websites, and make it by request only.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I remember how nervous I was when I saw a
- 15:58Speaker 2: crazy mailing a whole bunch of stuff to all the
- 16:03Speaker 2: different media outlets across the city in.
- 16:05Speaker 1: One day, in one day, and I was worried our
- 16:10Speaker 1: city got hit.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I was worried our city was gonna get hit, or
- 16:21Speaker 2: our office was gonna get hit.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Thankfully nothing came that was suspicious.
- 16:28Speaker 2: But to fix this is to keep the NYPD intact,
- 16:34Speaker 2: is to tell athletes early on instead of waiting until
- 16:44Speaker 2: they don't get drafted, for the guy to get pissed off.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Enough to do this.
- 16:50Speaker 2: And then if you know you have CT issues, reach
- 16:53Speaker 2: out to your local doctor and do something about it.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Don't go from carrying a football to carrying a rifle
- 17:02Speaker 2: into midtown Manhattan,
